love that parker’s slightly magical abilities have apparently progressed from the appearing/diappearing thing to reading eliot’s mind

This is me sending an ask about the show you like (idk anything about it other than you asked for asks so uhhhhhh tell me about the characters ig :))
The context for this ask:
Tumblr media
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
its literally eating my brain like oh my god
basically leverage is a show about like this crew who steal from the rich to give the money back to people
ELIOT FUCKING SPENCER IS THE HITTER AND HES AMAZING AND I LOVE HIM!!!! hes very silly which i love and also sarcastic
theres also parker and shes the best coz shes autistic pretty much but shes like not your stereotypical autistic girl like her special interest is breaking into safes lmao.
THERES HARDISON whos the guy i mentioned!!! he’s hilarious and i love him and hes got adhd pretty much but is also not your stereotypical guy with adhd coz like he stays calm (usually) but he also learns a new skill in like 2 hours so they can pull the con off!
theres also nate and sophie and they’re pretty cool and theyre also in love… kind of. theyre like the mum and dad like down to a t.
ok back to parker, hardison and eliot coz theyre my children lmao. so parker and hardison are like kinda a thing by s4 which is what im up to. at the start, i shipped them and eliot was giving big brother energy but now i heard that people ship all three of them and i can absolutely see that and i love it.
yaaaaaaaa this is my rant!!! yayyyyy!!!!

Every time I see anything related to cats the musical I think of bigtop burger. And also the names make my brain short circuit a bit. What in god’s name is cats about send help
i seem to be getting the bigtop burger comment a lot
as for what cats is about. its about cats :) more specifically most of the songs in cats are just taken one-to-one from old possum's book of practical cats which is a collection of poems about cats written by t.s. eliot.
most of the songs are just about very silly and whimsical interpretations of normal cat archetypes. like the rum tum tugger is just the cat who screams at your door to be let in and then immediately screams to be let out. or jennyanydots is just that kind of cat who sleeps all day and then starts going crazy running around at 3 am.
the framing device for this is that the cats are all attending a yearly ball in which their somewhat magical somewhat immortal leader cat will choose one cat to be reincarnated into a new life. specifics of that are left intentionally vague. its all about the whimsy. you have to meet it on its own terms
sorry if you werent actually asking what cats was about, youre going to learn anyway 😊 hope this helped

Something that occurred to me this time…
… Is that Eliot deliberately brings Hardison w/ him to confront Moreau the first time. He tells Nate that he and Hardison will do it (don't worry, I also Love Hardison taking the moment to be like 'hey, are you okay?' bc those two usually express themselves through bickering so much that it clearly telegraphs just how off Eliot is being that Hardison is dropping the usual banter to be serious).
Which for one thing, says something about Eliot's confidence in Hardison in general, but also, like… Yes, Parker's probably not the choice for that introduction, it's not her style, but Nate or Sophie could also have played the part. He could have tried to go alone. But he pulls Hardison.
Obviously he's not trying to put Hardison in danger, he makes it quite clear in all other scenarios that he does not tolerate Hardison in danger (visual cues in The Gone Fishin' Job my beloveds), the others are well aware of the fact that he's Done Some Shit and are equally unaware of his connection to Moreau. And to be honest, I can't pinpoint an exact reason why I think he might have done it, chosen Hardison to be the one who finds out first. Maybe he suspected Moreau would underestimate Hardison, making him safer (relatively, if course), then someone like Nate or Sophie. Maybe he thought it would be best to have Hardison's tech skills as back up. Maybe he thought Hardison would roll w/ the punches the best. Maybe he just wanted Hardison there for morale.
I don't know, but it's a moment that didn't really occur to me the first time, but I think is actually quite meaningful in a more emotional way.
#Leverage#and of course he's right Hardison handles it w/ aplomb and only gets mad after#I do think Parker wouldn't have been the right choice for that#just that specific situation in general#Moreau's clearly significantly not very respectful of women so either her or Sophie might have to do a more dangerous grift#I mean it doesn't go well for the Italian#Nate meanwhile is Always a wild card in his own way#but I've said it before and I'll say it again that in their own way I think Nate and Eliot have one of the most familial relationships#they mesh together in a very specific way that they don't talk about but becomes clear over the course of the show#the father/son the other never really got to have#and I do think that being suddenly confronted by that revelation combined w/ that relationship#would have thrown Nate for a loop enough to possibly destabilise things#but Hardison and him have had to work in the fly before#Hardison is one of the most versatile of team in regards to characters#he adapts quickly when it's needed#I think in a way Eliot makes a bet Hardison will roll w/ the con until they're out#will be able to not ask questions and avoid having too much of Moreau's attention#plus it will be more believable to Moreau#Hardison can handle it until they're out and then he can get mad and they'll deal w/ it#also I think Hardison helps stabilise him#while I do think people ascribe too much of Eliot's development to exclusively Parker and Hardison (esp Parker)#they absolutely do play an important role#and I think Eliot feels comfortable taking a risk bc he knows Hardison will keep his head and be ready to come up w/ something#Literal Crime Family

oh man the reason why you cant find gar is because ive only drawn the guy once ever
Tumblr media
gar is the second to the left, the brown dog-adjacent thing with robot hands. he's the founder of DIRE and also an asshole. btw i still love this group pic because it really brings out how much they do NOT work together visually which is entirely intentional. DIRE is a complete mess

I hadn't noticed it the first time around- but even though Parker doesn't know Eliot- she trusts Eliot.
When Eliot asked her to face her fear, adding "Please," to it. She did it with mild complaining.

I have no idea if the writers meant it that way, probably didn't, but I thought about the way his possesion by Jen can be seen as a metaphor for the whole "Eliot thinks he's in control when he is actually taken advantage of / used" thing and now I can't unsee it and it breaks my heart all the more

is baya trans??
good question! she's afab and had little thought into her gender other than not being into femininity. she is butch. HOWEVER-- during shadowbringers she started having thoughts like "is it weird that i don't mind when people think the warrior of darkness is a man?" but mostly did not think too hard about them. and then after 5.0 when she Absorbs ardbert (trans man) she gets hit with very intense gender feelings and starts using he/him as well. i like to describe a'vaya's gender as "woman (enhanced)" because i wouldn't necessarily say she's nonbinary, it's rather that she like, installed plugins to her gender... ?????????? so no baya is not trans but she's not exactly cis!

just read this part of the adventurer's bible and
Tumblr media
do you think toshiro was originally attracted to falin (whilst still being irritated by many of her same traits in laios) because he thought his father would find her interesting???

(for Eliot) Betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?, Hide: What does your OC hide? Why do they hide it?
-Not-so-nice asks from here-
Betrayal:
I will answer this for GT, because her biggest source of betrayal is from her family and you never meet them in the Bleach AU:
Eliot is the second eldest child to the Rios family, her parents powerful nobles of their country that have many of the scientific institutions there wrapped in their financial fingers. Eliot and her older brother Carlo were meant to take over, and were abused and molded into perfect little Rios children- sort of. Eliot rebelled strongly, but her brother always helped her on her path and tried to shield her from their parents. That is... until one day when he was 17 and Eliot was 12, he snapped, got in a fight with their parents, and left. Eliot was crushed in the vacuum of his absence, and would have cowed to her parents had her aunt not saved her a few years later... only for her to be ripped away again and sold into service with the military (long story). The betrayal of her brother leaving her alone at the mercy of her parents still stuns Eliot to this day. He should have taken her; he shouldn't have left at all. Eliot doesn't know if he's alive or dead, but she does know if he ever sees her again, it's on sight.
Eliot tries to be as upfront as she can be with her position as an indentured scientist. But in her position she also doesn't have a lot of close friends, and no family. She has Gulzar, her best friend, and she has Jack, her girlfriend (who has to leave Eliot behind when they both planned to escape). But she also has her handler, Selephiel, who she'd convinced that she at least liked working under them... until Eliot managed to find her own escape and killed two other Melek and maimed Selephiel to do it. Eliot doesn't consider it a betrayal to Selephiel but she does feel like she betrayed Glulzar by leaving them behind. Much in the way she'd been left behind by her brother and Jack. She tries not to think about it too much.
Hide:
There's not a lot Eliot is able to hide from people; she has very big emotions that she doesn't often bother to keep to herself after years of suppressing them to fit into her family and fall in line. I'm honestly trying to think about what she hides and it's really not... much? There's even a part in her story where she does something really, really bad (stealing a corpse and smuggling a high risk prisoner out to help her) and she SHOULD be keeping that a secret, doesn't, in fact like manically admits the fact to a ton of people and only gets away with it because she's grieving and no one believes her. RIP.

my favorite ship is andie and liam idk exactly what's going on there but its something and im a fan
there’s something going on there, but they should just get to hold faces and stare at each other instead of figuring it out. i think it’s fun for both of them that way! has liam single handedly done a hunt down take down of all of new york in search of andie? yeah. they’d do it again. they fear the pacifism and are insanely fascinated by it. hope this helps!!

the nigerian job; seeing the server room for the first time.
sharing for hardison's delight and... you know I respect eliot, but this eye sweep can be described charitably as "I have no clue what to do with any of this" and uncharitably as "shit, I don't think anything in here needs punching."

🕯️ From Eliot
This Meme: Accepting @ifyoucatchacriminal
Tumblr media
Jayden had met many kinds of people in her line of work.
From overly sensitive to the barely interested. She was keen to watch people as much as the next person. Watching dynamics and pulling at the loose threads to unravel the tangled pattern unfold with people. She wasn't fond of drinking in public, but she did like to step out of her home and work spaces to mingle and celebrate the victories after a day in the vet clinic.
It was no real wonder that Eliot caught her attention on one of her sporadic visits to McRory's. There was a mystery about him. She could tell that just from the way he held himself at one of the dart tables.
It wasn't that he kept moving so there was as few people behind him as possible. It wasn't the keen blue eyes that were dimmed when no one was speaking to him. It wasn't the sharp reflexes that came with standard 9 to 5 jobs most people worked.
No she saw through that. She saw the protective streak when he stepped between the lithe older brunette woman and a group of college kids that were getting a touch rowdy. Saw the sneer aimed at the the older man's back. Saw the affection but distance he put between his interactions with the younger two of their little group.
But she was keenly aware of the hitch to his step, the subconscious or not way he held his lower ribs. The way that he would bare teeth into the glass or bottle he was drinking out of. The building tension in his shoulders the longer the night wore on. Could see the faint off coloured scars that would go unnoticed by most people.
She would keep to herself if ever asked about why she could handle Eliot and his near impenetrable defence of keeping people at by. How it was easier for her to treat him when the man could be a functioning mute. How she could argue against his need to be on constant motion.
It was because she cared about him as a person. She worried that his job was taking far more from him than it ever gave back. That fear she had that one day his body would give out on him and break even under his incredible willpower.
Because of that, she wanted to be the port in storm for him. THe lighthouse that would warn and bring at least some comfort to the weiriness that clouded his mind and forced him to press ever onward.
She could smell the occasional whiff of fresh earth clinging to his button ups. She could taste the difference when he left meals in her fridge when she wasn't home after he'd come to her to get patched up. She knew that he took time away from others to help those in need in the least likely of places.
She trusted Eliot in ways that she could not bring herself to understand. Even as she got to know him in the bits and pieces that he showed her. In the actions that he took when his team wasn't hovering and demanding his time and abilities. Someone that has made a home within the walls of the place she called her own. Embers of the possibility of something more ever crackling in places that she would shy away from just to keep the peace he seemed to find with her.
All of that only endeared himself to her with or without him realising it.
"Who him? He's.... He's my friend and someone I care about."

“Can I come with you?” the boy asks. “I don’t – I know you don’t know me, or remember me, but something feels like I know you.” He bites his lip. “I can’t really…it’s not a memory, but it’s a feeling.”
He nods, surprised to realize that he has the same sort of feeling when he looks at this boy. Not a memory, but a tug, a push from that presence in the back of his mind, insistent and alien.
