What's your favorite part/element of Rumple's story arc?

SHSKSHS HOW DO I NARROW IT DOWN??? THERES SO MANY ELEMENTS I LOVE. Okay I’m gonna put this as a few points here.

My top favourite element, the first thing I thought of, is his relentless battle with himself for goodness. He is half and half, half himself and half the dark one. And he’s been this way for centuries, so of course it’s an ongoing battle that’s not easy to drop. He continues to fight it, continues to try to be good, even when he has moments of weakness. He picks himself up again and continues. Whether it’s for Belle or Neal, he doesn’t stop trying to be good. Isn’t that so human of him? Rumple believes himself a coward, but it’s so brave to continue to try to be good when you have a dark curse latched to your soul and the world is seemingly saying “hey, goodness is impossible.”

My second thought is how STRONG his capacity for love is. He takes the curse of the dark one for it. He battles against the curse because of it. When he becomes the dark one, one of the first things he does is end the ogres war and free all the children. He didn’t have to do that. Baelfire was not on that field, yet he did it anyway. He dies for love. He lives again for love. He continues to fight to keep his loved ones safe, even if that means he risks himself. He spends what, 300 years (?), living alone because of his love for Baelfire, because he’s so determined to find his son. And sure it causes some problems. He loses Belle because it’s either her or his magic, and his magic will lead him to Bae. He causes people to hurt because his capacity for love is so fucking strong, it’s never going to be a mild thing. It’s everything or nothing. He dies TWICE for love. And we can’t forget, before Rum became the dark one he gave what little he had to beggars and took care of his emotionally abusive wife, even when he could barely stand with aid. He crippled himself and ruined his reputation for love. His capacity for love fills him to the brim and I adore it.

Final point is: you mentioned his story arc, and he has many? It twists and turns a LOT. So far I’ve focused on elements but I think my favourite arc (and it’s HARD to pin down) is the bits with him and August in s1. And you might be thinking “Bella, that is a weird fucking choice” but hear me out. With August he faces what he’s feared for so long: that his son hates him enough to try and murder him. And he takes that wholeheartedly, actually goes to therapy for it, and approaches who he thinks is his son and delivers a heartbreakingly emotional speech. And even when he realises August isn’t Bae, after their little dispute, he reunites August with his father cause at the end of the day, Rumple is always going to be papa and he can’t stand to see lost children screaming out for their parents, whether that’s actually screaming out or a haunting look in their eyes. That moment of kindness? In the shop when he invites August in and Marco is there? He didn’t have to do that, but he did it anyway. Why? Because Rumple is a good man. He saw a lost child and it reminded him of his son, and isn’t that the point? Neal is his driving point. He is what makes Rumple good.

(Bonus arcs for your consideration: ALL of Skin Deep, the Neverland arc is hauntingly beautiful. And we get Goldstiltskin. Beauty in s7, oh- and that one moment where Rumple says to Emma “please, he’s my son” in s6 about Gideon. Heart wrenching. When he faces his mother and says the world is dangerous because of villains like her and himself- the tone in his voice and the look on his face!! I die inside. And finally, and this is more of a funny bit than a ‘deep’ bit, but that one scene in Underbrooke where he introduces Milah and Emma to each other always cracks me up.)

Princess Zara Backstory

So a while back someone asked if I had a backstory for Princess Zara from the videogame Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey

I didn't at the time but thinking it over since I think I've found a good fit within my DisneyVerse 

I knew I wanted to do a take on Zelena from OUAT since I already had her parents and sister, but since Theodora from Oz the Great and Powerful is the DisneyVerse version of the Wicked Witch of the West she couldn't be that, but I think Zara fits nicely. Greek color scheme, Z name, motivated by jealousy, ect.

So in my DisneyVerse Zara is the second child of Corinne and Henri, unexpected and unplanned as they meant to have no further children who could be in danger from a vengeful Rumplestiltskin, per the terms of their last  bargain 

Desperate to keep her safe, they end up meeting the Enchantress through her friendship with Hélène, and she agrees to take the child under her care to hide her from Rumplestiltskin, knowing it might be her only chance 

Zara is brought up ignorant of her past under the Enchantress's  rather cold care--she never was very good with children-- and is a lonely, often angry, little girl, who dreams of another life, one where she feels important and wanted, often lashing out against her distant guardian in order to gain her attention 

When she exhibits a talent for magic, she hopes this will bring the Enchantress to pay more attention to her, or at least bring her esteem in the eyes of others

But though the  Enchantress trains her somewhat, she is still critical of how Zara's temper gets away from her ('refusing to learn those Princess Virtues') 

Eventually, fed up with her life, Zara uses her magic to run away from the Enchantress's magically hidden home--which unfortunately leads her right into the clutches of Rumplestiltskin 

The imp tells her a twisted version of her origin, making her believe her mother abandoned her in favor of her sister Princess Regine

Heartbroken and bitter over what she sees as her stolen life, Zara begins to learn dark magic from the imp, and soon begins her vendetta of ensuring that if she can't be a princess, no one can…

"Rumple, giving me gifts isn't going to make me less worried about telling my mother you know." I explained when he created a necklace into the palm of his hand with magic. He shakes his head when I turned around clipping it on. "I'm simply giving you this because I like seeing you smile, Y/n. It has nothing to do her majesty." The thing about my mother is she's really my adoptive mother. My younger brother Henry and I got brought to Storybrooke years ago. And somehow I ended up falling for the pawnshop owner Mr. Gold or as he was known in the Enchanted Forest Rumplestiltskin. The shop door suddenly opened and it slammed behind my mother where I gasped seeing she is angry. "Y/n, why are you spending your time with him so much."

Playing with the new necklace he had given me I walked up feeling nervous to tell her the truth. "Mom, I um - I'm dating Rumple..." She bugged her eyes out hearing my confusion. She crossed her arms over her chest whispering to me. "Sweetheart he's a snake you need to be careful who you get into bed with." Shaking my head I grabbed her hands wanting her to allow me to be in a relationship with him. "Mother, please. I know you lost your love but I trust him with my heart." Rumple slowly walks up resting his freehand on mu shoulder staring directly at my mother. "Regina I will take care of her I promise. She makes me a better man so I will do my best to treat her the right way."

"How do I know you're not lying just to rip her away from me and make her not love me anymore?" She scoffed stepping up where they barely have space between them. Rubbing my hand down my arm I hoped that the two powerful villans wouldn't start a fight with their magic. Because that would not end well for Storybrooke. "Fine...you can date her. But if you ever hurt her I will find your dagger and make you suffer." She teleports away in a cloud of purple smoke leaving us alone. Without thinking I fling my arms around his neck kissing him slowly. He cups my face in his freehand kissing me back. "See my dear you were worried for nothing. I love you Y/n." He mumbled into my hair when I lay my head on his chest. "I love you too Rumple."

What are some of your rumplestilskin headcanons and also some of your rumbelle headcanons?

Okay Rumple headcanons:

I like to think he’s brilliant at making soup. Any soup- all homemade, all super creamy and flavourful. It’s always just the right texture and maybe he even has a personalised cookbook with his soup recipes in (in which he adds homemade bread recipes too)

Can and will knit when he’s anxious and away from his spinning wheel

His favourite colour is a dark purple-red, because it makes him think of the dagger and so makes him feel powerful. His second favourite colour is light blue because it makes him think of Belle

Wants a pet dog to have with Belle but is scared shitless of the damned thing getting hurt in all of Storybrooke’s shenanigans

Wont admit it, but he wants to get to know Charming better. They deffo have a sort of friendship in the early seasons of the show, and I like to think that beneath his hostility, Rumple just yearns to be besties with Charming.

^^following this, after Gideon is re-born as a baby, I like to think that the hostility between Rumple and all of the Charming/Swan family disappears and he has picnics with them- he and Charming have competitions about who is the better grandfather

Rumbelle headcanons:

Alike Rumple, Belle has anxiety and stims with her hands when she’s anxious. Her go to method is twirling her wedding ring on her finger- it makes her feel safe

It’s unsaid but they both want a daughter. However after Gideon is re-born they’re just so relieved that their son is back in their arms, safe again, that they don’t even try for another pregnancy in fear of losing that child (Neal)

Belle can bake, Rumple can cook. Rumple can’t bake, Belle can’t cook.

Rumple likes detective films. Belle likes rom-coms. They both adore the Knives Out movies

Belle likes to sleep in in the mornings, whereas Rumple gets up early. The only exception is when he’s having a bad flare up with his chronic pain in his ankle

Sometimes Rumple picks up on traces of Lacey in Belle’s attitude. Maybe she glares at someone or she snaps at him, and a little part of him gets super turned on at the thought
