How does Edward feel about the sudden influx of new engines from both the mainland and other counties?

Edward: It's marvellous! I am quite happy on Sodor. Unlike Thomas or Duck I don't feel the 'see the world!' (Maybe that's a tank engine thing). So it's wonderful to meet all these wonderful engines from all over the world in my own backyard.

What would happen if the engines in your AU met the engines in the Young Iron AU?

Well...this has actually been a discussion before. I'm lucky enough to be friends with @tornadoyoungiron , and we've talked about what would happen if our AUs collided. So heres the main take aways from what would happen if Grand Theft Sodor met Young Iron.

A. All the YI engines (besides Flying Scotsman/City of Turo/ Sodor engines) are getting jumped by their GTS counterparts over their treatment of Tornado. Without question. YI Tornado was seen as a fake, a pretender. GTS Tornado is seen as the hope of preservation. People loving steam engines so much they brought a class back from extinction. Blue Peter specifically needs to hightail it as soon as possible.

B. YI Great Northen and GTS Great Northern would clash, possibly the worst of all. GTS Great Northern led the class, and the LNER when Gordon was sold to the NWR. YI Great Northern managed to turn both against himself. They would be utterly unrecognizable to each other.

C. GTS Tornado would take her YI counterpart on an adventure. Also pray for any YI engine that tried to treat her the same way as YI Tornado, because theyre about to reminded just how powerful the Peppercorns truly are.

D. Thomas/Cassandra (GTS) and Thomas (YI) would be keeping an eye on the Tornados from a distance, not ruining their fun, but in range in case any mainline engines try anything. Thomas/Cassandra is more serious and worn then their YI counterpart, but the two number ones would recongize each other.

E. The Great Westerns would be at war. The GTS GWR was the largest family in Britian, they would be appaled at the class sytem the YI GWR had. When they learned of the treatment of Lady of Legend? The Calley Twins will be helping the GTS Great Westerners apply war paint.

F. Perhaps most intersting collsion isn't of engines, but of dieties.

The Lady (GTS) and Lady (YI). Sisters, but both would believe the other is failing their universe.

Young Iron's Lady believes they should only intervene in divine matters, and so only intervenes when she has to, and even then she is more likely to act through the gold wardens so as not to affect the fabic of her world, as she is aware too much influence could unravel existance.

Grand Theft Sodor's Lady is going to save her children, end of story. She was put in place to protect them, and she will not fail. But there are consequences to her interventions. The veil wears thin, and monsters arise.

YI Lady things GTS Lady is reckless with her power. That she is risking her reality to save engines that are mortal in the first place. They will all return to them in the end anyway.

GTS Lady believes YI Lady is letting her children die needlessly out of fear, and that she is failing the very reason for her existance.

Both Young Iron and Myself agree that neither are fully right or wrong.

YI Lady has not caused even a fraction of the tears in reality that GTS lady has...but her children had nothing to believe in when their time came. Most engines don't even believe she exists. This is why engines in Young Iron tend towards looking out for themselves, its all they've ever had. It also means that when YI Lady actually needs to intervene...shes limited. She doesnt use her power, so shes not used to it.

GTS lady has saved more of her children. they believe in her, and are more likely to turn to each other for help...but monsters roam the lands. By the end of Steam the veil wore thin indeed, and beings like The Beast, The Creature, and Screech would continue to rise for decades after the fall of steam. She saved many of her children, but at a steep cost to the world.

YI Lady has less power...but doesnt really need it, and her world has only seen the hint of monsters.

GTS lady is at her full potetial...but needs all of it to keep the tears in reality at bay.

Now there are no plans for a crossover fic. We're both busy keeping up with our own AUs...but heres some ideas that have been thrown around just for fun.

A. Showdown of the Ladies-Caomhnóir is taken by Young Iron Lady, who wishes to confront her sister over her reckless use of her powers.

B. Harlequin- Young Iron Mallard (circa 64ish) gets thrown to the Uman and Din, where he meets Screech. Can she teach him to master his black smoke. Can he get back home, and will he want to?

Flying Scotsman is the one for the LNER, Hamilton is the LMS's, City of Truro is the GWRs and Sir Winston shares his with 737. But that leads to a question:

Hello! I'm quite taken by your response to my stories, it's very flattering!

I have to ask, what do you like about my stories? Is there a particular character or is it the world they are in?

OH HELLO HI UH HI GREETINGS-

But the stories? I guess I just get pulled into it by how characters act (Specifically Tydfil, Great Northern, Green Arrow, the ones I relate to basically-) and how relatable it can get to how some bits brighten my day ^^

And a bit angst there and then sometimes gets me all thrilled up all yknow energetic in a sense-

I guess it's how at the same time

It can be a fun story with all these fantastic thrilling plots and characters with diverse personalities

While also being a relatable sometimes giving you a moment to reflect on reality and life as well

Yknow like it just switches to that mood switches to this mood in a way where it isn't too quick or too slow in transitioning said mood

But in general, my curiosity and interest keep getting pulled into reading more and more I guess-

The Outcasts (1968) - Episode 2: A Ride to Vengeance

This is the kind of show that starts with the main characters mugging "GASP! Did you STEAL the COOKIES?" faces in response to surprise false murder charges and ends with them bickering about money and riding away laughing while a couple they nearly broke up watches in mute disdain. However, It is also the kind of show that (without using the specific terminology, because it was written in 1968 and is about emotionally constipated men in 1873) unpacks the fact that a) the Black lead has PTSD as a result of being a slave, b) that a white man accused him of murder simply because he made a fool of him years earlier, and c) that he is aware of things as a Black man in 1800's America that the white lead is not and that the white lead doesn't need him to prove that to believe it's true. The tonal whiplash is occasionally vertigo-inducing.

People can read whatever they want even if it's for the younger audiences. And funny enough most of YA books I've seen and read are in 3rd person...

If people stop telling other what to read and what not to read would be perfect. You can enjoy any form of literacy without shaming others or feel ashamed.

a) of course Starz picked up up Mary and George, as the channel that is basically "historical shows for women who want to see nudity onscreen" (said with respect)

b) of course Starz is doing that Outlander prequel about the dead parents we know die horribly like the one who has a heart attack or some shit after the trauma of seeing his son basically flayed alive instead of adapting, I don't know, a historical romance series in which it's literally period piece content for women who want to see nudity, which doesn't actually have any rape

Thank you for the post on my series, it really does inspure me to write more when I see how people react to it and look indepth at the characters. But now I must ask, do you have a version of Tornado? I'd love to see it if you do. 💚💚💚

YOU'RE WELCOME!!!! your fics are just so so good like I absolutely love how you expanded on the backstories and personalities of pre-existing characters like gordon and scotsman AND how compelling and three dimensional each "new" characters are like tornado and green arrow and truro and.... (sweatily looks left then right) mallard and SOOOO MANY MORE....

and something I've noticed from your fics is how there's a strong theme of learning about your past -- all its good and bads and in-betweens -- and either accepting it as part of yourself critically or rejecting it after feeling so mortified from what you've discovered. this is quite prominent especially when the reader follows tornado's character progression. it's much interesting how a character who was "supposed" to be defined by her past as part of a restoration project actually handles change quite well and looks forward to what the future is bringing. tornado is so complex and I have so many thoughts about her but for now senja will just (pats the side of her tender solemnly)

the way grief is handled so well too and not sugarcoated like scotsman’s breakdown at the early chapters of young iron and how at that moment he felt like he can only find solace in his brother's presence.... wow. Wowwwwwww Okay 🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂 I AM SOOOOOO NORMAL

the hardships each character face and the way each of them handle it differently (flawed or not) just makes me feel so pumped to keep on reading. even though some characters mess up I still keep on reading and anticipating the next chapter because I believe in them. and I am rooting for them in a sense of "damnnnn okay how is scotsman gonna get out of this situation" or "ohhhh shit tornado things are NOT looking good for you girl!"

OH and for my design of tornado.... I haven't made any for her yet! I've been wanting to since your interpretation of her inspires me so much. and thanks to your fics I've been looking into tornado's background and the trust project.... could she be involved in the project in one way or another in casa tidmouth? perhaps so! I might come up with a design of her someday in the future :] thank you so much for the inspiration, truly‼

something interesting i've noticed in my toy destruction poll is that people have often reblogged saying they're autistic and experienced object personification and so treated their toys with great respect. my younger brother is autistic, and he dabbled in destruction, but i think he ended up developing more attachment and respect for his toys. that said, to my knowledge he never personified them. i'm not autistic myself but i am neurodivergent, and i find it intriguing that i, while typically kind towards my toys (ESPECIALLY the expensive ones which i did personify to a degree), had moments of absolute maliciousness towards my little plastic guys. not sure if that's due to undiagnosed early onset bipolar disorder, childhood angst, a kid getting bored and experimenting, or some combination of the three. i think the differing childhood play experiences across the neurodivergent community even within the same family, like within mine, are kinda cool.

something else fascinating to me is that so many people have reblogged saying they either only dabbled in toy destruction or refrained from it altogether, but leaned in HARD to the psychological torture of their toys. i ALSO did this a lot, like plotting out infidelity, relationship drama, tragic deaths, and a lot of bullying, cruelty, and conflict all around. i didn't include it in the poll because i thought it was pretty universal. that wasn't just due to my personal play methods - every child i'd ever played with had a great sense of tragedy and a flair for the macabre. after i grew out of playing with toys, i still noticed my friend's younger siblings acting out grisly car crashes and violent duels and housefires and the like. i'd be INCREDIBLY interested if anyone out there was more soft hearted and less prone to extreme dramatics in their play scenarios. i occasionally had my toys like. go to the store or adopt a pet or something equally sweet, but my usual plotlines were a lot more theatrical.

btw, i've been trying to remember why i followed you from the start, and i'm pretty sure it's Star Trek, and specifically Spones, which, ALL MY LOVE! but i also want to mention how much i love following someone who gifs a lot of women, i love having more women on my dash! i never finished OUaT back in the days, but all your Regina and Swan Queen gifs are making me want to, and your Michelle Gomez gifs, waah, i do not want to watch CAoS! 😭 but you are kicking me in the butt about finishing Doctor Who too with your gifs of her (i sadly miss most of them though since i have it blacklisted for spoilers), i had no idea she was in it but man did that make me want to watch it when i found out!
