Which lead me to make an au where Ace survived Marineford, except Sabo did die as a child.

until he gets resurrected by a devil fruit, much to Ace's horror.

I'm calling it the Time Capsule Au and boy oh boy do I have THOUGHTS and IDEAS for it, might post about it more later teehee

do you know any sign languages?

A bit of ASL! Amusingly, not for my hearing issues. Those weren't diagnosed until my 20s.

I learned some of it as a kid because of my baby sister, who has a learning disability. She's had a bunch of speech therapy and can speak now, but until she was like 6 the whole family used ASL with her (so naturally we learned it).

That was like 25 years ago so I've forgotten most of it by now, because I haven't had a chance to use it. All I really remember is some of the most important words like "ice cream", "food"*, and "lesbian". I do sometimes find that when I'm trying to think of a word, I'll sign it without realizing.

But I do strange things with my hands anyway: my mom once pointed out** that when I'm spelling a word out loud, I'll "type" it in mid-air: I move my fingers like I'm typing it on a keyboard. This (and the signing thing) are entirely unconscious actions: I don't realize I'm doing them until someone points them out or I see myself in a video.

* my baby sister confused these two: she used the sign for "food" to mean "ice cream", as in "give me some ice cream". If she was wanted food, she'd just sign "hungry", not "food".

** This anecdote happened around July 2000: I know because the word I was trying to explain to her was "Elwood", which she thought was spelled "L-wood". Elwood being a (nigh) one-hit-wonder band whose song "Sundown" peaked at #33 on the Billboard charts in July 2000.

Just thinking about ASL living together (modern AU) and Ace always trying to sneak Yamato inside their house without Sabo's knowledge because he doesn't want him to go all 'responsible older brother' on him. But the reason why he's always letting Yamato stay over is because his life at home is obviously... Not so good and he hates being there so he tries to spend most of his time outside. And Ace's heart aches every time he has to let him go, so he often lets him stay over. It becomes more constant and less of a 'sneaking in for a while' thing. And Sabo knows. Because of course, Sabo knows. Sabo always knows what's going on. One day he wakes up to see Yamato having breakfast and Yamato gets all anxious and not knowing what to say and trying to make an excuse (because that's what Ace told him to do if this ever happened) and Sabo is just like "Do you want anything else?" / "Huh? What?" / "I mean. You're eating cereal but we have more stuff in here, you know? At least one of us can cook. What do you want? I can make you pancakes." / "YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE PANCAKES???????" / "Oh my god, what has my brother been feeding you in here???" / "Mostly leftovers." / "Dude, why are you still with him?" / "Because I love him!" / "Yeah, no, me too. I guess love makes you do stupid things like dealing with a fucking moron like him. Anyway- Pancakes?"

And then Ace wakes up to find his brother and his boyfriend actually getting along and laughing and having breakfast together, and he needs a second to process everything because he's tired as fuck and maybe he's hallucinating. But that doesn't matter because the point is that he's fucked.

Ace: ..... Hi? Sabo: Hey :) Ace: What are you two doing? Yamato: WE'RE HAVING BREAKFAST :D Ace: Yes, babe, I can see that. Why are you here, Sabo? I thought you were- Sabo: I got home last night from college. We have some days off. Now, care to explain why you've been treating your cool boyfriend like a dog instead of giving him actual meals? Ace: I- You're not angry? Sabo: Oh, no. I am angry. Can't you see I'm angry? Ace: Sometimes you give me mixed signals and I'm never sure...? Sabo: I'm angry. That clear enough? Ace: Yes. Yamato: Okay, so Sabo is the only person that scares you. That's good to know. Ace: OH SHUT UP HE DOESN'T SCARE ME I AM NOT AFRAID OF MY BROTHER Sabo: Ace. Ace: ... I'm sorry.

Then, Sabo takes Ace to a more private place in the house and expects an explanation from him and Ace can't keep the secret anymore. So he tells him about Yamato's dad and how he is not a good person and he's always keeping him locked and making his life a living hell. And Ace is literally begging Sabo to let him stay for a while and Sabo is just staring at him like "Why would I not let him? How could I not? Do you see me as some kind of controlling demon around this house or what?" / "I mean, you're kind of scary sometimes-" / "Because you don't do shit around here and when I left for college I expected you to take care of Luffy. But I'm not making Yamato leave! What the fuck, Ace? You should've told me." / "I just- I just don't want him to go back there. He's, like, the nicest guy I've ever known. He's just so good, Sabo. I don't want him to-" / "Yeah. Yeah. He's the love of your life and you're gonna get married and have a fairytale ending or some bullshit like that." / "I did NOT say that." / "But you love him. I'm not letting him stay over if you're not serious about this. We barely have money for us three and we're lucky I can go to college." / "... I know. I know. I do. I do, you know. Like. The L word. You know I can't say it." / "Idiot." / "You're so mean to me. You don't do this shit to Luffy." / "Because at least Luffy has the decency of telling me when his friends are coming over." / "That's what you think." / "What? / "Nothing."

So, long story short, Yamato has the chance to actually live with them for a while if he wants to. Of course, he can't do it permanently. But he knows he has a home there if he ever feels like leaving his own house.

Hi I'm Ghost and I have a problem with making twin au's (this is my third one yet, good lord...)

This got stuck in my head few months ago and I'm currently actually... 20k words deep in a fic about it,,, who knows if that'll ever see the light of day, because the concept really got me. Like from an introspection standpoint, because I think Ace's self worth would be more complicated if Sabo was his biological brother. It's something really fun to explore and I'm finally going to talk about it on here

WIBTA for trying to get my disabled coworker fired?

I know it sounds bad which is exactly why I’m asking. Please give it a read-through before voting though.

I (18M) work a food service job. One of my coworkers, L (20sF), is deaf, which can make working with her harder than other coworkers. I don’t mind this, and have taught myself some ASL to communicate with her when phones aren’t available.

However, in my half a year of working here, I’ve noticed that she has bad habits compared to every other coworker I have. For example, L comes in late nearly every day. I wouldn’t mind it if it was only by a few minutes, but she regularly comes in over 20 minutes late, and on occasion, being over 40 minutes late. Being the only other person who works mornings in my position, this makes my job harder because I have no clue when I’ll have someone to help me. It’s especially bad during morning rushes, in which I have to do almost everything by myself.

She regularly lies in order to get off as well. At one point, she told everyone in the store she was sick. We let her go for the day, but 30 minutes after she left, she posted about going to a party on her Facebook account. There are other incidents, but this is one of the clearer ones.

There have also been incidents in which she messes up food. Bad. At one point, she poisoned a customer by putting something they were allergic to in their order. It wasn’t even a thing that normally came on the food, so I couldn’t chalk it up to a really unfortunate mistake.

When L does prep work, her stuff usually turns out super poorly as well. With the dough she makes, it’s always so thin that someone has to go back and add flour to it. With the in house sweet cream we make, it’s always unmixed at the bottom. And just a few days ago, the chicken salad she made turned out fucking pink. A coworker got sick giving it the benefit of the doubt and trying some.

L’s also, frankly, really unpleasant to be around. She’s incredibly bossy, which is rich for how lazy she can be. If you’re around her when there’s nothing going on, you’ll hearing about all of her personal drama. Complete with private messages between her and her boyfriend of the week, messages with her doctor with way to much detail about her sex life, and at one point, photos of a dead dog she had run over that morning. All completely unprompted.

She’s also been hitting on me and another coworker recently. I have repeatedly stated I have no interest in romance in general, and the other coworker is taken.

L continues to do these things, despite everyone telling her otherwise. Even when the manager or boss get onto her, she’ll only change for a bit and then go back to her old habits.

The reason I’m asking if I’d be the asshole is because I know it’s hard to get a job while disabled in this country. And L’s been at this job for 3 years somehow. I know that doesn’t excuse a lot of things, but I still have trouble knowing that someone could be going without money they need.

There’s so much more I could get into here, but I already fear that this is too much.

So TLDR: I’m considering pushing for my deaf coworker to get fired because she regularly shows up really late, endangers customers, and makes everyone uncomfortable.

girl idk why i'm telling you but it's probably bc you're online at this time but anyway i have some MAJORRRR beef that happened in this discord server i was in

basically some bg lore is that this is the third version of the server (2 other versions were deleted because of beef and some owner argument idk i was offline during that shit but i am an og og member)

so basically the old owner (let's call them R), who gave ownership to his friend and admin (we'll call them N), came out saying a message. so this N decided to randomly leave the server and give ownership to this bitch ass guy who i DESPISE (let's call him L)

L and N are somewhat friends with benefits without the fucking?? like they flirt w each other but they aren;t dating and js say they're friends. anyway L is kind of hated throughout the sv because he's always a bitch to everyone and makes fun of their traumatic experiences such as abus3, r4pe, and other stuff (my personal experience i was venting and he said "no one cares n**** (hes white asl))

L also keeps saying and i quote "you cum on footballers" as his only argument against me because i sent an edit of my fav footballer ONCE

so yeah today the previous owner R came out saying that L made fun of this girl getting r4ped and made fun of her parents abus!ng her which led to her to venting and crying to R (she found his ig somehow we dont even know how) and how she overd0sed on pills and is probably d3ad because of L

R decides to make a new server (basically the 4th version) and invite all members who got this horrible treatment and experience by L and who hate him. so while me and some ogs were telling ppl abt the new sv, someone snitches and leaks the server invite

so now anyone can join the new server, and according to my friend it got flooded with soft p0rn and just nsfw stuff. anyway now the only way people can find peace is in my server (which is dead) because there's barely anyone from the server N and L owned

now the last two paragraphs happened while i was offline so i don't know much but yeah that's basically all the stuff that happened TODAY

That's why I take things on there with a HUGE grain of salt.

A few fun little idea I thought of involving the kids teaching the human autobots to do things

Raf would finally be able to properly introduce Bee to video games since his hands are no longer too big for the controller. He can actually play with them instead of just watch.

Miko teaching Arcee and Elita how to do makeup. Along with any of the male autobots who are interested.

June teaching the Autobots to cook with varying degrees of success. (Aka Wheeljack managed to make something explode and was banned from the kitchen)

Bee using his free time to learn ASL since he spent so much time not being able to communicate normally so he was very intrigued when he found out humans came up with a way to communicate without speaking

We know Bee canonically spoke CSL!! [Cybertronian Sign Language] So he picked up human sign languages of various types rather quick, which he loved. Him and Raf use it to speak in secret sometimes. Just not in front of Optimus. Optimus a l w a y s knows.

He adores gaming with Bee, and going to arcades together, especially when they play the claw machines. They got kicked out after Bee kept playing hours on just 1 token on a machine, till he got an impossibly high score, or emptied a machine of all prizes.

Miko took over all make up and cosmetics and was delighted to teach Arcee and Elita. The end results were stunning to say the least, and Miko even managed to talk some of the guys into trying it out. Smokescreen actually enjoyed it the most, and insisted on Miko always giving him some red under eyeliner, as it made his eyes pop.

Optimus even allowed Miko to play a bit with make up on him, and though it didn't suit him, he did it if only for the smile on Miko's face.

Bulkhead also let Miko do his nails, and he would take care to not chip any of the paint, especially when she painted the wreckers emblem on his thumbs.

Cooking was a wild ride for everyone.

Optimus and Magnus had picked it up rather easily, as they tended to follow the recipe to the letter to ensure no mishaps, whereas Wheeljack [prior to his subsequent ban from the kitchen] tossed everything that looked interesting in.

Elita was a decent enough cook, but her skills were surprisingly better when it came to baking, as she liked the patience and intricacy it took to make pastries, icing and decorating things.

Arcee, after the fast food dare from Jack, was not keen on cooking, but she was great at prep work, so whenever anyone needed anything washed, cut, chopped, minced, they asked for her help.

Bulkhead and Ratchet, though not fantastic with more complex recipes, could at the very least make decent meals. Bulk could grill better than any of them, whereas Ratchet could make a nice healthy salad, or stew that would fill the team.

Smokescreen and Bee however, were banned from cooking, not because they were bad, they were decent enough, but rather that their preferred meals tended to be instant food, like a frozen pizza, 3 minute ramen, or nuggets in an air fryer.

At least the kids liked it though.
