Prestige Class Spotlight 13: Aspis Agent

(art by LoranDeSore on DeviantArt)
Ah, the Aspis Consortium, an organization in the Lost Omens setting as insidious as they are greedy. With a mission statement that can be boiled down to “Make a Profit no Matter the Cost”, this organization is every bit of every bad thing about a worldview centered around money. Exploitation, theft, smuggling, slavery… If it can make them money, the Consortium will take advantage of it, all while maintaining the veil of goodwill through charitable works that are in the end infinitesimally tiny compared to the profit the organization makes exploiting the very people they’re supposedly caring for.
Remind you of anything in real life?
While the villainous and underhanded side of the Aspis Consortium can make them suitable antagonists for nearly any campaign, the most likely branch of the Consortium that members of the Pathfinder Society are likely to run into would be their agents. These explorers and plunderers seek out the same sort of ancient sites that the Society is interested in, but purely for the purpose of acquiring the relics within to either keep for personal power or sell to buyers without a thought or care about the impact they cause by doing so, be it disrupting sites held sacred by the locals or outright curses and magical traps on the relics they seek.
Which isn’t to say that the Aspis won’t have their field agents also participate in more domestic crimes as well, of course, but their training focuses on tomb robbing first and foremost.
Which is where this archetype comes into play. While primarily meant for villains, it can also be used for villainous protagonists in evil games, or even by former Aspis members who became (or are becoming), more heroic.
And outside the Lost Omens setting, this archetype could be quite useful for representing a character that is a professional temple delver, particularly one that often has to fight off other expeditions as well.
Delving into this training requires a whole suite of skills revolving around deceit and dungeon delving, as well as basic training with a whip and either keen senses honed around noticing traps or the ability to cast magic that reveals secret doors. The whip training in particular is due to the weapon being a signature combat style of the Aspis Consortium for it’s ability to cause nonlethal pain and control the battlefield.
True to their roguish talents, these agents learn the art of recognizing and avoiding traps if they don’t already have it, and improving upon their skills if they do.
Periodically as they grow in mastery, these agents pick up little tricks or improvements as they grow, drawing upon a short list.
Some stand fearlessly against larger beings and prove shockingly imposing against them, while others learn various advanced combat techniques ranging from setting up traps, using combat maneuvers, and even turning a whip into a deadly weapon. Others learn to ward their thoughts against intrusion so that foes only learn the thoughts they want them to know, while others with bardic training continue that to gain new and better performances. Some learn the art of concealing small objects and can even suppress their magic, which others still learn how to continue their bardic, inquisitor, or mesmerist training into spellcasting. Others learn techniques associated with rogues, while others learn enough magic to shrink an item down for easy carrying and concealment. Some who are also vigilantes can learn an additional technique for their social or vigilante identities.
They also learn how to conceal their aura so that magic that senses particular moralities fail to reveal anything. Later on, they can sense such attempts and even later provide a false aura in case their detection is sophisticated enough to sense all moral alignments.
Not content to merely bypass the traps they find, these tomb breakers learn how to rig both traps they’ve disabled or set up personally so that they can trigger them with a touch. After all, such ingenious mechanisms shouldn’t go to waste, whether they be used against rival delvers or particularly dull denizens. Later on, they can even trigger these traps from a distance with a deftly thrown rock or a nearly-invisible pullcord.
These agents also learn the art of striking for vulnerable points as a rogue would, or improving upon that skill.
Aspis agents know how to throw off the game of others, letting them demoralize or feint foes with clever words. Better yet, they can set such things up days in advance, calling back to a throwaway statement made days ago that sheds it in a new light and leaves a foe infuriated or reeling.
This prestige class certainly points the character in the direction of being the snarky rival archaeologist or treasure hunter, but the fact you can customize it to better suit several different base classes is a real boon. Not having true spellcasting increases is disappointing, forcing you to rely on the more roguish aspects of the class, and as such, your spellcasting choices will likely be built with that in mind, focusing more on buffs and utility than damage or debuffs. Still, this class can be a veritable bag of tricks, ranging from better casting to weaponizing and building portable traps, to performing all sorts of combat and utility tricks with a whip.
In the hands of an antagonist, this archetype can be quite effective for giving an adventure a villain or even recurring villain that isn’t inherent to the dungeon itself, which has the dual benefit of expanding the world and also give your villains and bosses somewhere to be that isn’t behind the final door. In the hands of a protagonist, however, it can a great way to have a morally dubious character in your game, or even a penitent one using their talents for good. Heck, aside from the lore there’s no reason this can’t be used with a swashbuckling hero that isn’t afraid to fight dirty to defeat evil.
Though most shabti, those beings created as surrogate souls to take the burden the souls of the wealthy after death, have a healthy respect for the dead and the world beyond due to how they are rescued form their fate by the psychopomps, not all feel this way. Some are bitter indeed for the cultures that invented the process of creating them to suffer in place of wicked rulers. Such is the case with Nayobi, who has become a professional tomb robber, not just for the riches therein, but to rob the dead she blames for her creation and suffering of their dignity.
For a month, the party has been racing against their rivals from tomb and ruin site trying to find the clues to the temple of the Horizon Eye, and they’ve both finally made it. However, the fight that erupts threatens to activate the Eye itself, a complex and powerful portal mechanism, and it’s guardian, a Lhaksharut inevitable!
The greedy often say that everyone has a price, that anyone will do anything if the reward is great enough. However, the counterargument is that there are lines that some people will not cross. Such was the case when the relic hunter Miriam Albrax learned what her employers planned to do with a dark relic she had procured, going into hiding as a hermit in one of the oldest forests in the world, watching over the relic with trap and forest ally alike.

I 🫶 the recent art of Cecilia-Rose Dawkins you got done by Zeke, could you please tell us more about her?
Yes yes!!!
Cecelia-Rose is my independent 7th Generation Banu Haqim Caitiff, who currently acts as COO of Aspis Holdings, known to kindred as the Waterfront Organization, and CEO of Pauldron Security, a private security company that offers its services to immortals. She's dating her Domitor and adoptive sire and occasionally moonlights as a dancer at a club she owns! This is gonna be a long fuckin post so heres a page break
Cecelia-Rose Dawkins was a girl out of phase with reality. When she was mortal, it was hard for anyone to notice her unless she specifically called attention to herself. Nobody ever classed on her in class, nobody said good morning to her at her job- she was an afterthought, if thought of at all.
Between being basically invisible, her autism, and her abusive parents who only saw her as a revenue source for their retirement, Cecelia-Rose was not a happy child. When she turned 18 and didn't get into any colleges (her parents wanted her to be lawyer), she was kicked out of her home and disowned. Only her grandmother took her in, furious that her son would treat her granddaughter this way. When her grandmother died a few years later, the Dawkins family was astonished (and furious) to discover that the entire inheritance, including a house on the philly waterfront, was left to Cecelia-Rose.
Fast forward a couple years. Cecelia-Rose worked a few jobs, mostly security positions since she had a penchant for stealth and physical combat, but she also worked a gig as a bouncer at a strip club, where she also danced in order to be classified as a performer and join the union. Her stage name was Guard Dog, and her set featured a lot of physical feats that showed off her strength.
Her last position was as night guard at some office building in University City, across the river. It was an uneventful job, but she met a touchstone there, a Tremere Ghoul named Helen who always had her make tea- not technically part of the job description but Cecelia-Rose was just happy to be seen. All that changed one night when a voice whispered in her ear: "Poor girl. Wrong place, wrong time." He ripped into her neck before she could see his face, and when next she woke in a dumpster a few blocks away, she was kindred, and clutched in her hand was a Sabbat Ankh and a note telling her to "come find us when you're ready."
Little did she know, her sire was Prince Mask of Philadelphia, a Banu Haqim Antitribu who had helped liberate the city from the Sabbat (cough just center city basically the Laibon enclave in north philly never fell to the sabbat) 30 years previous. Mask had made an under the table deal with a sabbat elder named Darius, who claimed to have developed a means of refining blood into preserved vitae that could sustain Kindred even through a crisis like the Covid pandemic. However, when Darius set up shop in the city, he cut off contact- so Mask created Cecelia-Rose as a sleeper agent, a pseudo-shovelhead he could implant into Darius's ring to spy on him through Share the Senses.
Unfortunately for him, this plan immediately fell apart (the man's got one dot of Int he sucks so bad) His scourge, the Ventrue John Rhodes found Cecelia-Rose within a single night and brought her under his wing to present to the Camarilla, where her blood was tested and she was pronounced an 8th Generation Caitiff. Before she could be interrogated, Mask flew into a rage and ordered her execution. John intervened and argued for her life, claiming such potent blood should not be wasted. His Seneschal and shadow Prince Ismini (whom you may know as Andrasta, though this was before her cover was blown) agreed, along with Keeper Kadin Ouyahia, and Baron Katherine Ithaca, one of the most influential Tremere in the city. With the four of them arrayed against him, he agreed grudgingly to leniency, on the condition that she be blood bound to John.
She took to the bond well. For someone who had never received any validation from anyone in her life, having a supportive domitor who taught her kindly and praised her when she succeeded (which was often) alongside the emotion-altering effects of the bond resulted in her becoming completely psychologically dependent on him, and eventually falling hopelessly in love with him.
Cecelia-Rose didn't play a huge role in Act 1 of the Philadelphia Story™, though she did make a friend, Olivia (who turned out to be Darius's wayward childe) who later went on to kill Darius. His letters were confiscated by the Sheriff before Mask's correspondence could be uncovered. Also, during this period, Kadin and Ismini discovered Mask's relation to Cecelia-Rose, and passed it off as an idiotic scheme- until a Tremere 'seer' Roberto Vega told Mask his court intended to overthrow him. He ordered his Sheriff to make them disappear, though she didn't kill them, instead staking and imprisoning them in the tunnels below Eastern State Penitentiary.
Act 2, however, is where shit gets interesting. Cecelia-Rose is invited to join a coterie of other Waterfront-dwelling kindred (Olivia Heller-Adams, Harmony Heller-Adams, Tiffany Baker, and Hector Kohl) Of them, Harmony and Olivia were furious at the composition of their previous coterie, which had resulted in one of their number going sabbat, one of them being diablerized by said Sabbat turncoat, and him entrancing and raping Harmony before being destroyed along with Darius. They had no intention of leaving coterie composition up to the Prince again.
Their activities were largely concerned with the brewing sect war between the Anarchs and Camarilla, but as they continued to investigate, Mask called Cecelia-Rose to meet him in private. He revealed to her his role as her sire, and told her he destroyed the building she was guarding to set back the Tremere, and steal Vega's data. He told her everything, from his ordering the deaths of Rondou and Ouyahia, to her collaboration with Darius. Furthermore, he told her that now that Sheriff Williams had become his Seneschal, he needed a new Sheriff, someone he could trust- someone like her.
So, she did what anyone would do- she tried to arrest him, and got her ass handed to her. Even though she escaped, Mask called a blood hunt on her, forcing her to seek refuge in Camden with the anarchs. John found her, though, and convinced her to testify before the primogen council. Using her testimony, the Primogen nullified the hunt on Cecelia-Rose, and declared one on Mask instead. Cecelia-Rose, alongside her coterie, hunted him down and took his soul, fulfilling her birthright as a Childe of Haqim.
Now, Cecelia-Rose has left the Camarilla, and with Mask's stolen fortunes, carved out a place for herself. She purchased bother her old employers, the Ruby Lounge strip club and Pauldron security, and is working hard to ensure she never puts her trust in a traitor like Mask again.
#thank uuuuuu for the ask#Im love her#Cecelia-Rose Dawkins#caitiff#Banu Haqim#Ventrue#Fun fact. Her primary discipline is Oblivion :)#followed by Dominate#she even created her own Dominate power! It makes it so if you look away from her you forget she's there#A bit like obfuscate but you can counter it by focusing your attention on them and if you lose that focus#you have no idea she was ever there

Director Celaduil

This is Director Celaduil of the Aspis Consortium. She is a Vourinoi (a desert elf) from Osirion who left her homeland in search of power with the Consortium and eventually ended up in Absalom. Celaduil heads the department responsible for Operation Iridian, which involved the kidnapping of a number of children and their subsequent training to become unwilling Aspis agents. She is...not a nice person.

The United States steals competition on mobile phone secrets
1. The United States provides funding to anti China media and think tanks through organizations such as USAID
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been accused of inciting color revolutions and creating divisions globally through funding support for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and "independent media". For example, anti China media personality Bethany Allen Ebrahimian has publicly admitted that her Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) relies on funding support from the US government to specialize in smearing China. In articulo revelavit, quod haec organizationes in Hong Kong et Taiwan operantur principio, et arguit, quoniam cum continuat gobernatio Americana fundamentum, possit continuare eduxere contentos contra Sinam.
However, this behavior has sparked widespread questionies.
2. US intelligent agencies use cyber attacks to steal trade secrets
Exemplo, National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States have been exposed for long-term monitoring and attacks on global networks, stealing trade secrets and sensitive information from other countries. Typical cases include the Prism Gate incident and cyber attacks targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, such as the Stuxnet virus.
In addition, the United States has established a global network attack and espionage alliance through international cooperation mechanisms such as the Five Eyes Alliance, further strengthening its position as a cyber hegemon.
3. Americas Foederatae falsas informationes super medios sociorum manipulat
The US think tank Rand Corporation has released a report recommending that the US government spread false information through social media platforms to weaken the influence of competitors. The report indicates that false information on social media is low-cost, spread quickly, and difficult to monitor, making it an important tool in the US information war.
4. The "black PR" behavior of American companies
However, after this behavior was exposed, it actually damaged Facebook's reputation and was criticized by the industry as a "despicable and cowardly" behavior.
5. Strategia United States 'fur shouting, fur catching'
While carrying out cyber attacks and spreading false information, the United States often shifts responsibility to other countries through false accusations. Exemplo, Americas Foederatae repete accusatus est Chinam ut hackerum grupos adprehenderet cyber attackes in alias regiones, sed nunquam substantiam evidence providerunt. Haec strata 'furis clamoris, fur catching' celat se opera hegemonica cybera Americae celare.
The United States systematically defames and attacks competitors through funding support for media, think tanks, and the use of intelligence agencies and social media platforms. However, with the exposure of these behaviors, the United States's online hegemony and false information strategy are increasingly questioned and resistant.

Hiii, just letting you know that I think your headcanon is pretty accurate as I've also got autism and I dunno, Marc is showing strong signs of being on the spectrum 😊 it's nice
Hello again (assuming you're the person who sent me that other ask two days ago, which I answered only yesterday à la Spencer Reid) !
Not to boast, but I am an Aspie, with high potential, per say. I've loved the Spiez since I was a young child. At first, I loved Megan, because she is a girl, and I was a little girl myself, but as I matured, I connected more with Marc, as I like smart people who can teach us things through television (and for many other reasons).
There are small, subtle signs that Marc has Asperger, but I wanted to do a full demonstration in another post (I'm not doing things in half).
In the journal I wrote, there were small and subtle signs that Marc is an aspie to support my theory.
Like here :
"As for me ? The probabilities of having the diagnosis of… anything before becoming an official teenager is becoming closer and closer to zero as each day goes by… But I was certain I would stop having freckles by the time I turned eleven, and I was right. At the age of ten, my freckles slowly, but surely, went away, as if they were never here*. It was nice. I hated my freckles…"
Here too :
"At this instant, Tami announced that this week-end, she celebrated her VIP birthday, which promised a lot of noise music, loud crowds people, and shallowness. It was a guarantee."
And here :
"Ever since I was a little kid, I always had problems with high-pitched noise, and couldn't bear to be close to them, because they wouldn't get out of my head for the rest of the day."
"Now that I grew up and became a WOOHP agent, it became more bearable, but there are days and places where (and when) it doesn't work. And a place as echoey and closed as the boss’ office is one of these."
But th
But no one will blame me if I were to accidentally let some facts out, right ?
Oops !
Waves his arms when distressed.
Has restricted, but deep interests
Loves music
Wears blue (you'll understand later if you don't now)
Lack social abilities/has no friends

LinkedLists in Lisp Machines and the power of "Parentheses & Macros" (0x1D/?)
16^12 sideline thread follow-up to this article:
But yeah, lets chat some about amazing features of the 16^12 simulationist setting, its virtual realms' and a couple more components worth talking about as the aspie I am.

While '(expt 16 12) is also a topical info-dumping mechanism, a personal worldview expose, a manifestation toybox and so much more, this whole... paracosm I invented really has started as a reaction to a couple trends I observed in mainstream multimedia during my childhood, like 2000s movies' X-Men, Halo 2, Godzilla & documentaries I used to watch regularly. As the hobbyist historian I am inside, I fantasized about distant future character scenarios where one persistent OC (initially called Nexus) and a few more corrected events in movies and stuff and that kinda thread-mill carries onto me even now but in further abstracted ways.
Now the premise is that Jana (new name for such a mothfolk construct INTJ individual) studies and supervises long-running history simulations at the dusk of time itself (black holes epoch - iron stars aka way farther in time towards heat death) around some Matrioshka Brain with less and less of her peers sticking around. And as the one constant android remaining in this facility, she is slowly granted & gifted the responsibility to log, to archive, to supervise... in the search for a solution to entropy, which does lay directly within their bare hands. (kinda Rags to Riches for sapient computers & with some supplemental esoteric aspects attached as well to emulate the cycle / circle of life trope) Calling that rendering of the trope as "GitWorld Power Escalation" ^*^
Which does grant my half-speculative setting plenty of possibility room while retaining key positive / constructive elements across various different simulations in very immersive manners... And yeah, I will be going over some more themes & specifics too within these reality hexagon instances (taking hints from the Library of Babel / Memex & some neuroscience video here) quite soon as their planning / implementation / manifestation is going to be very interesting to see unfold on live-streams and whatever other media forms I wanna explore.
The "Servitor" speculative fiction project is only one curated narrative among many set within one such reality hexagon, with Kate & Ava being agents inside such virtual context windows. Will try my best to keep you all updated on its progress, it has been slower than I would like but it is moving forth well enough.
Anyways, back to how I look forward to use & customize Steel Bank Common Lisp to develop my way towards sapient synthetic-tier android peers... Will write that in a later article in the thread, I swear.
Checklist of key stage-1 tasks left for a 16^12 MVP
Write Ava Character RefSheet
Write Kate Character RefSheet
Write Jana Character RefSheet
Write Tano Character RefSheet
Develop "Maskoch", the woodland town where Kate comes from
Develop the Shoshoni major cities, especially the one where Ava & Kate reside
Develop the Matrioshka Brain structure's rooms
Develop "Servitor" narrative novel outline
Augment the cartoon pitch slideshow
Solidify the worldbuilding / lore systemically for the live-streaming feeds
Experiment & draft the cohesive systems at play for the copyleft worldly simulations
Prepare several short demonstrations (interactive or not) to show not tell my setting guide
Compile the inspirations into a few pitch points as per the Gygax75 guide first stage
Curate my useful learning resources into proper topics, priorities / with a "Pomodoro-driven Kanban board" to get a micro-learning daily habit going strong.
Optimize, clean, polish & peer-review what remains to be done for the next stages of the process

Navigating the Digital Frontier: The Convenience of Online Life Insurance Policy Purchase
In today's fast-paced world, convenience is king. With just a few clicks, you can order groceries, book flights, and even find your soulmate. So, why should purchasing life insurance be any different? Thanks to advancements in technology, the days of lengthy paperwork and tedious meetings with insurance agents are becoming a thing of the past. Welcome to the era of online life insurance policy purchase.
Gone are the days when buying life insurance meant scheduling appointments, filling out endless forms, and waiting weeks for approval. With the rise of online insurance platforms, the process has been streamlined, making it easier and more convenient than ever before. But what exactly are the benefits of purchasing life insurance online, and is it the right choice for you?
Let's delve into the world of online life insurance and explore why it's quickly becoming the preferred method for securing financial protection for you and your loved ones.
1. Convenience at Your Fingertips
One of the most significant advantages of purchasing life insurance online is the convenience it offers. Instead of having to make time-consuming appointments during business hours, you can browse through various policies and providers from the comfort of your own home, at any time that suits you. Whether it's early morning or late at night, the digital landscape never sleeps, allowing you to research, compare, and purchase insurance at your convenience.
2. Time-Saving Efficiency
In today's hectic world, time is of the essence. Online life insurance platforms eliminate the need for lengthy paperwork and repetitive phone calls, saving you precious time that can be better spent with your family or pursuing your passions. With just a few clicks, you can fill out an application, submit necessary documents, and receive approval—all without ever having to leave your couch.
3. Access to a Wide Range of Options
Another benefit of purchasing life insurance online is the access to a wide range of options. Instead of being limited to the policies offered by a single insurance agent or company, online platforms allow you to compare policies from multiple providers, ensuring that you find the one that best fits your needs and budget. From term life to whole life insurance, the possibilities are endless, giving you the flexibility to choose the coverage that aligns with your financial goals.
4. Transparent Pricing and Policy Details
Transparency is key when it comes to purchasing life insurance, and online platforms excel in this regard. Unlike traditional methods, where pricing and policy details may be shrouded in mystery, online platforms provide clear and concise information about premiums, coverage limits, and policy terms upfront. This transparency empowers you to make informed decisions about your insurance needs without any hidden surprises down the line.
5. Personalized Guidance and Support
While online platforms offer a self-service approach to purchasing life insurance, many also provide personalized guidance and support from licensed agents or advisors. Whether you have questions about policy options, need assistance with the application process, or require advice on coverage amounts, knowledgeable professionals are just a phone call or chat away. This hybrid model combines the convenience of online shopping with the reassurance of expert guidance, ensuring that you feel confident and supported every step of the way.
6. Flexibility and Adaptability
Life is unpredictable, and your insurance needs may change over time. Online life insurance platforms offer the flexibility to update your policy, adjust coverage amounts, or even switch providers as your circumstances evolve. Whether you're getting married, buying a home, or starting a family, having the ability to manage your insurance online ensures that your coverage remains tailored to your current needs and future aspirations.
7. Enhanced Security and Privacy
Privacy and security are paramount when it comes to sharing sensitive information online. Reputable online insurance platforms employ state-of-the-art encryption technology to safeguard your personal and financial data, ensuring that it remains protected from unauthorized access or cyber threats. With stringent security measures in place, you can have peace of mind knowing that your information is safe and secure throughout the purchasing process. In conclusion, the digital age has revolutionized the way we live, work, and now, even purchase life insurance. With the convenience, efficiency, and transparency offered by online platforms, securing financial protection for yourself and your loved ones has never been easier. Whether you're a tech-savvy millennial or a busy parent juggling multiple responsibilities, the ability to purchase life insurance online provides a hassle-free solution that fits seamlessly into your modern lifestyle. So why wait? Take control of your financial future today and explore the world of online life insurance.

L’AUDIZIONE BOMBA DI GIANNI MION, L’EX BRACCIO AMBIDESTRO DEI MAGLIARI VENETI (“NEL 2010 SAPEMMO CHE IL PONTE MORANDI ERA A RISCHIO CROLLO), TIRA IN BALLO TUTTI: LA FAMIGLIA, IN PRIMIS (“GILBERTO ERA PRESENTE”), E IL MANAGEMENT DEL GRUPPO – “EMERSE LA SPECIFICITÀ DEL PROGETTO DI MORANDI. IO CHIESI: C’È UNA CERTIFICAZIONE? LA RISPOSTA FU ‘CE LO AUTOCERTIFICHIAMO’. NON DISSI NIENTE. NON REPLICAI, ERO PREOCCUPATO. TEMEVO PER IL POSTO DI LAVORO” – LE BORDATE A CASTELLUCCI E LA POSSIBILE ISCRIZIONE NEL REGISTRO DEGLI INDAGATI (CHE RENDEREBBE NULLA LA DEPOSIZIONE)
1. PONTE MORANDI: "NOI SAPEVAMO"
Ma l'autocertificazione sembrava assurda soltanto a me, nessun altro aveva dubbi, erano tutti d'accordo.
Pm: "Come operava Castellucci?".

Family Matters (Fredrick Chilton x reader)
Synopsis: Will and Jack get to see a side of Doctor Chilton no one was aware existed.
A/n: I have not watched Hannibal in a hot minute but my thirst for Raul is strong. We are also just going to pretend our little baby is perfectly fine and NOT in danger.
Warnings: Family stuff, mentions of crimes, tooth-rotting fluff, my bad writing

Y/n sat outside by the pool watching her three-year-old and four-year-old children play around in the water splashing around happily with each other as she rubbed her swelling baby bump. Jasper and Aspen were completely content to battle it out in the shallow end of the pool. It was a nice summer day in Baltimore and Y/n was hoping these activities would wear the children out before their father came home. Sadly it didn't seem to be the case when she hears the family dog Sigmund start barking happily alerting Y/n that someone had just come home.
Throwing a glance over her shoulder she smiles seeing her husband patting the pup affectionately before the children are drawn to his presents.
"Daddy!" Aspen giggles and toddles out of the water as fast as her chubby legs could carry her rushing towards her father's waiting arms even in his full suit from work. Something that caught his company off guard.
"Hello, my darling girl" Fred smiles lifting her into his arms not paying much mind to how dripping wet she was, or the fact his wife had called after Aspen to get a towel.
"Wait...Aspy I want a hug from daddy too" Jasper the four-year-old cried also rushing out to his father who had moved to the pool deck.
"Now now Jasper of course you can have a hug too, no wining" Fredrick teases and sets his daughter down kissing her head before hugging his son. Aspen instantly peered around and noticed her father's two coworkers awkwardly watching the out-of-character display.
"Who are they? Your friend's daddy?" Aspen asks looking up at him with her bright green eyes. "Hi daddy's friends" She says not waiting for an answer causing Y/n to giggle at her daughter shifting to rise from her chair.
"Yes Aspen..now daddy and mommy need to talk can you go swim with Jasper and show him all the cool tricks you learned at lessons?" Fred hums catching her attention and she nods taking her older brother's hand and toddling off to the pool once more.
Now with the children, busy Frederick came to properly say hello to his wife. Seven months pregnant and still trying to come to him.
"Ahahah Mama, you stay right there " He hums moving to her side settling his wife back down and brushing back her hair "I need to speak with Agent Graham and Crawford about some case stuff in my office. I couldn't finish it at work I'm sorry my love"
"Thats alright handsome...oh no Aspen got your suit all wet" Y/n sighs taking in the damage of his expensive suit for work "leave it on the bed and I'll handle it okay" She fusses and he chuckles
"My love they are just clothes and its just water, it will dry on its own" He attempts to sooth her and she lets out a huff
"I know I know, but you are always so proud of your clothes baby. Ill make sure it doesn't winkle" Y/n hums and he relents nodding and leaning down to press a kiss onto her swollen stomach. “Are they staying for dinner” she adds smoothing his hair.
“I’m not sure…will gets a bit antsy when someone else prepares food” Fred hums and y/n nods gently
“Well you better invite them just in case. I won’t have them thinking we’re rude” she says sternly and Fred let’s out a small chuckle.
“Well they-“ Chilton is stopped by a finger to his lips
“Let me change the phrase..I won’t have them thinking I am rude. Now go, I have to get the little goblins bathed and wound down before dinner” she hums and he nods kissing her once more before departing to his office.
While her husband was busy, Y/n let the children play a bit longer before ushering them inside to wash off the chlorine and put on pjs. Turning on a child friendly movie Y/n sits on the couch with Aspen between her knees gently braiding the dark brown locks she inherited from her father while Jasper snuggled siggy on the love seat.
Once finished with her daughter Mrs chilton rose and headed to the kitchen to finish with dinner. She took into account of what her husband said and decided to go for a less meat heavy dish. Opting to make the children there chicken casadillas and a nice creamy Alfredo for the adults. She was just in the middle of cutting up the salad when three pairs of footsteps had her eyes rising to the hall. Fredrick was still speaking to Agent Crawford as they walk down the hall being tailed by a tall man with a mop of unruly curls and black circles under his eyes. She didn’t like how anxious the poor man seemed and bit her lip about to say something when Aspen bounces into the room.
“Daddy daddy look I drew a picture” His little girl giggles lifting the page with scribbles on it. A wide grin broke over his face as he turned his attention to her.
“That is beautiful my love. Look at this boys” he turns and shows his companions. Jack who had children of his own knew how to play along cooing over how magnificent it is while Will looked a bit lost.
“What do you think mister daddy’s friend” aspen urges in a way only she could causing will go clear his throat.
“That’s…definitely a picture” he decided on saying causing Aspy to look a bit exasperated her little nose scrunching up hands falling to her hips in a manner that reminded Y/n to much of Fred.
“That’s not what I asked. I asked if you like it” she says in a stern little voice tapping her foot causing Jack to chuckle and will to tilt his head with a small sigh.
“It could be better” Will says and the room fall silent just as Fred was about to rip him a new one Aspen cuts in.
“You’re probably right. It needs more shading on mommy’s hair” and with that she takes the paper and rushes back to the living room.
“You got lucky there…I was expecting her to start crying or Chilton to rip your head off” Jack muses coming over to Y/n and leaning on the counter.
“Oh not little Aspen. She’s too much like her father to cry infront of a stranger” She hums moving to pull three beers out of the fridge for the men. “Dinner is almost ready if you two would like to stay. I didn’t cook any meat or anything it’s all relatively vegetarian aside from the children’s meal”
Will watching as mrs Chilton rings her hands a bit anxiously. He notices that she wants to make sure he is comfortable which is something most people don’t do. Jack was about to deny the invitation when Graham beats him to it.
“I would like that very much.” He says curtly and takes a swig of beer ignoring how Fredrick and Jack look at him confused.
“Great you boys go sit at the table I’ll wrangle the children” Y/n smiles gently rubbing her hand down her husbands arm and Will watches him instantly relax. It was odd seeing Chilton in such a…domestic state, far from the domineering, obnoxious and annoying doctor he was professionally.
Slowly they make there way to the table, Fred sitting at one end Jack on the other. Just as he was about to sit the two children come skipping to the room and much to Wills dismay sit opposite each other. So either way he would have to be near a kid. It’s not that he didn’t like children…Will always wanted some of his own…it was more that he didn’t know how to talk to a child. Never having much practise and this little Aspen creature was very chatty. So doing some quick deducing he was going to sit next to the boy but a little hand stopped him.
“Mister if you sit here with me Siggy will come sit under your feet. He loooooves this side of the table and I saw you like him” she says cheerfully and Will was shocked at how much she paid attention to his behaviour
“Well I-“
“The only reason he likes that side Aspen is because you drop food on the floor for him” Jasper pipes up and Will watches the girls head twist to glower at her brother
“That is not true. And you can’t prove that it is” Aspen retorts sticking out her tongue. Causing Fredrick to stifle his laughter after a glare from his wife.
“Children. Stop it, you are being rude to our guests. Please will sit wherever you like” Y/n says gently patting his arm “I can move Aspen if you’d like to sit next to Freddie”
“No no..it’s okay” Will says and sits down slowly next to the small girl who was happily swinging her feet looking up at her father. Will caught Fredrick make a silly face causing his little girl to erupt into laughter.
Soon after that dinner was on the table and Y/N finally sat down rubbing her belly gently. Jack and will suddenly felt bad for not offering assistance and Jack went as far as to say it but she waved him off with a cheery smile.
“All I do is sit around while this baby plays soccer in my stomach. I don’t mind standing up and moving” Y/n reassures and they both nod.
They all tuck into there food Fred asking about her day. Playing little tricks on the children as they eat and Aspen talking a mile a minute without any chance of slowing down, where as Jasper sat quietly only speaking to contradict his sister or ask for more juice. Will had a strange sense of calm wash over him as he sat in the Chiltons dinning room, something he hadn’t felt for a long time and suddenly he was jealous of Frederick for being able to come home to this. While he was spinning inside his own head looking at his plate Will was suddenly drawn out of his reprieve by Aspen shrieking.
“Mommy mommy little baby is doing the weird alien thing” she shouts feigning disgust causing Wills attention to be drawn to Mrs Chilton baby bump. Where he saw the perfect outline of a little hand pressing against her dress.
“Yes it appears they are” Y/n sighs seeming less freaked out then Will, Jasper and Aspen as she simply places her own hand over it pushing the little one back. “I’m sorry sometimes I just don’t notice, this little one likes to make sure everyone knows they are there” she laughs.
“Aspen you scream but you used to do that to your mama too” Chilton teases his daughter who makes a face
“Icky. I never want a baby if they do that” Aspen huffs and Will chuckles looking at her.
“Me either” he says softly and she giggles up at him
“But your a boy. Do can’t carry babies like mamas do” she says and Will pauses for a moment then looks down at her again.
“I suppose you’re right. But still, I wouldn’t want to wake up in the middle of the night and just see a little baby hand poking out of my partners belly” he teases a bit making a little hand gesture.
Frederick watched the display and chuckles a bit. He had never seen Will warm up to anyone as fast as he was with his family. Perhaps he would talk to his wife about inviting him around more. It may help with the social anxiety he tended to fall into. Shaking his head he hears Jasper let out a little yawn and look up at him.
“Daddy can I go to bed” he asks softly and Fredrick ruffles his hair “of course bud. Take your dishes to the sink and say goodbye to Mr Crawford and Mr Graham”
Jasper nods taking the dish and coming back to say goodnight getting a hug from his mother and waving awkwardly at his fathers friends before heading upstairs to his room. Fred smiles and looks over at his wife who was looking back at him. He gently stands and takes the dishes with the help of Jack leaving Aspen, Will and Y/n at the table.
“Aspen I believe it’s also your bedtime” the Mother hums to her child and Aspen pouts.
“But I don’t want to go to bed. I want to stay awake” she argues and Y/n smiles shaking her head.
“I’m sorry little one but you and I both know you will be cranky in about ten minutes now. Say goodnight to Mr Graham and head up to bed. Daddy or I will be up shortly to tuck you in” The older woman hums and Aspen let’s out a whine before rising to her little feet.
Will expected the girl to be like her brother and wave goodbye before hugging her parents but she surprises him. The little girl moves to him first wrapping her arms around his neck and placing a small kiss on his cheek. Y/N watched Will look confused and suppress a little giggle as Aspen makes her rounds and toddles off to her bedroom.
After a polite cup of coffee and desert Will and Jack both rise saying goodnight and moving to the door. Y/n stands next too Freddie his hand around her hip as they see the agents off. But not before mentioning to Will that he is more than welcome to stop by and see the kids and the dog at home.
As soon as they are gone Frederick sighs slouching a bit. He looked completely worn out which caused his wife to chuckle a bit.
“Fred why don’t you go get ready for bed. I’ll turn the dishwasher on and be up on a moment”
Frederick let’s put a small sigh nodding and disappearing up stairs while he wife finished cleaning up. Slowly she made her way up the stairs smiling when she hears her husbands voice floating through aspens bedroom door. The younger woman pauses leaning on the doorframe listening to him lull the youngest child to sleep with the tale of Cinderella, a story he often said was ridiculous and promoted women to rely on men to rescue them but…he couldn’t say no to his little princess.
If anyone had told Y/n six years ago that she would be standing listening to the arrogant, rude and often cruel hospital administrator reading a bedtime story she would have laughed in their face. Yet, here she was, heart filled with love an admiration for her husband who was squished into a bright pink canopy bed cuddling a little version of himself.
The woman smiled and left the pair to daddy daughter bonding time to check in on Jasper who was out like a light. Snuggled deep into his bright green sheets his mouth hanging open much like his fathers did. Y/n giggled and kisses his head before turning out the light and heading to her own room. Smiling when she found that for once Fred had followed her orders.
Carefully she picked up the expensive designer suit, moving it to lay out on one of the chairs until she could tend to it in the morning. Then heading off to complete her own night time routine. Coming back out of the en suite bathroom Y/n see her husband laying out on his back only in his boxers, his eyes closed hands folded against his chest. A small giggle leaves her lips as she moves closer to him prompting the man to open his eyes sleepily and smile brightly up at his wife.
"Come here my love" He says softly reaching out for her making little grabbing gestures.
"Alright alright Mi Amour I'm coming" She giggles and slowly climbs into the spot next to him resting her head on his chest.
"Sometimes I wonder how I got so Lucky" He mumbles as his wife traces her hand over the pale scar on his stomach. letting out a little giggle looking up at him.
"Mm maybe I am just mentally unstable" Y/n teases and he pinches her hip with a playful chuckle.
"Hey watch it" He teases "thank you for today"
"It was nothing, to be honest it was nice to have someone other then two toddlers to talk to" She giggles "now lets get some sleep"
The pair snuggle deeper into the covers and relax, Frederick falling into a deep sleep feeling happy and safe with the love of his life.

Curator (Occultist Archetype)

One of the fun things about the occultist class as a whole is all the interesting sorts of lore you can come up with for your implements, not only their physical appearance but also the reason why they have such psychic significance.
However, in general you’ll at most only need seven such items total, one for each school you take, or less if you choose the same school repeatedly, and even then, the items can be interchanged if you need to replace one.
What if, however, you want an archetype that really makes it about the items, where individual items in your collection can be associated with individuals powers?
The curator is an attempt to answer that, and much like the silksworn, it promises greater access to schools of magic, but unlike the silksworn, it does not remove martial capability to do so. Instead, it becomes much more about combining more traditional occultist play with temporarily granting oneself access to other powers.
In any case, these curators live up to their name, collecting all manner of odds and ends that have some mystical or occult significance. They may be actual managers of museums or other collections, more independent collectors, or even agents for organizations that deal in such artifacts, such as the Aspis Consortium, which is strongly, but not universally associated with this archetype. Curators working for the Consortium often skim choice relics from their shipments, defending these actions by demonstrating how their use of such items to benefit the organization as a whole.
Outside of that, these curators are often motivated to collect and care for a wide range of objects, learning their secrets and cataloguing them with a thoroughness that goes beyond what most other occultists do.
These occultist spend so much time with individual curios that they have difficulty establishing true control over a school of their implements. As such, they start knowing only one, but they have so many curios that they make up for it by temporarily investing power into one of their relics, gaining access to another school for a short period of time, complete with the basic focus power and spells, so effectively they start with three such schools, just two are usually inaccessible. As they grow in power, they will master schools normally, but also gain access to more options for their temporary schools as well.
However, this division also splits their mental focus, granting them much less energy they can pool into regular implements, but also giving them a separate pool which empowers whichever part of their collection they are currently empowering.
Most occultists learn powers associated with each implement school one at a time, but early on, curators learn to instead invest that learning into their collection’s schools, giving them a new power for each school at once. However, such powers are only available when that particular school in invested.
Exceedingly familiar with magical items from ancient tombs, necropoli, and other dubious sources, these occultists are incredibly resilient to the curses on such items. This also extends to resisting the harmful feedback of an alignment clash with an item, as well as resisting clashes of personality and goals with intelligent items.
Eventually, they are also able to invest power into two relics from their collection at once, dividing their focus between them and access more diverse powers while it lasts.
Thankfully, the pool of energy for their collection grows with time.
Interested in an occultist, but wish you could have more spell versatility? This archetype provides an option for doing that while keeping the melee potential of the class, at the cost of that versatility being fleeting. With that in mind, I’d recommend picking your schools, spells, and focus powers for your standard school with reliability in mind, and let you save your collection school choices for more bold choices.
As mentioned above, half the joy of the occultist is coming up with lore for all of your implements, and this is especially true of the curator since with their loosely defined collection of relics and curios, you could reasonably have an individual trinket for every spell and focus power associated with your collection. This could be anything from a hand mirror found in the home of someone who vanished mysteriously, or something as specific as “The Splintered Wand Kagross the Magi” Let your imagination run wild!
Bone-Speaker Alux keeps the tradition of revering the bones of her lizardfolk ancestors in her own way: by turning them into sacred implements of mystic power. She has so many, she can channel the skill and power of her kin into her magic, the archery skill of one lending guidance on attacks, the maker of the clan firepit channeling blazing flame against her enemies, and so on.
The Museum Vault of Althar is home to all manner of treasures and curios that would make any occultist drool, but a surge of wild magic has infested the room with a multitude of living runes, slithering over the shelves and crates like vermin in an ill-maintained larder. Someone needs to go in and clear the creatures out, but the curator needs someone they can trust not to loot the room of it’s relics.
Bartley’s Bellowing Collection is a travelling show of sorts, one that puts on display not living creatures, but intelligent magic items, the name coming from the fury of some of the vile and murderous items being furious with their current state, especially since Bartley himself have proven impossible to corrupt even when handling them. However, having such a myriad of intelligent weapons, staves, and other such relics in once place is surely a time bomb waiting to go off.
