one of my long-standing headcanons / die-on-this-hills of the mistranslation that the saiyans are enslaved is this bit ^ about caring about the resale value of the planets. My takeaway is that the highest ranks and military probably don't need much money (as most of everything you need is provided by the Empire), but you do still need incentive to do good work.

I imagine people like Vegeta's crew and anyone in charge of clearing planets do earn significant commission from their jobs, otherwise there would be no real reason to care about it's price tag, and nothing to stop them from just fucking up the planet for fun like Nappa clearly wants to (outside of consequences, but if your whole life is Life and Death, threats don't mean much, while rewards that make things more convenient do).

It's probably as good as monopoly money to someone like Vegeta, but it's still probably handy for bribing lower ranks in exchange for intel and gossip, which is highly valuable to him. For someone like Nappa, it's great for drinking and carousing and doing things that aren't provided by the force.

I love the idea that it's very much a Chuck E. Cheese scenario, and the higher ranked you are the clearer that is (just like real capitalism) and I also love DBS' manga for introducing the Heaters and bringing in scouts and brokers to flesh out the economical structure of Freeza's empire as the kind of real estate mogul megacorp Toriyama based it on.

One: They didn't think they'd ever need to because they thought they knew what he'd do in most situations (say no and then begrudgingly help them anyway, and tbf to them, they're mostly not wrong pre-Magnus)

Two: He is so aggressively self-contained for survival reasons that the only 'secrets' either of them has on him are the facts that he's gay and he and his mother have a fucked up relationship and THOSE ARE NOT THINGS YOU CAN USE FOR 'friendly family blackmail'.

Three: Alec is a tactician, he is observant, he is ruthless. He knows everything Izzy and Jace have ever done and the fact that he (as far as we know) never uses any of it is amazing and a little heart-breaking because he could have manipulated and threatened the fuck out of them and made his own life so much easier and he never ever did.

Greyscale Value Challenge!

1st OC is Chester “Axel” Simons, 2nd OC is Demi Alegria

I did not expect to actually like the colours quite a lot. Axel is a lot more messy as he was the first one but I love the blues and purples there a lot. Meanwhile, not as much of a fan as Demi’s revealed colours (though I still really love it) but her shading and general shapes I love a lot because I made them neater.

Axel’s colour scheme is more greys and reds with some blue for his eye whereas Demi is a lot of shades of pinks, white and oranges.

Looking forward to do this again!
