i can't stop thinking about little story details and backstories like. keith's dad was in f1 before. i feel like he didn't die in an f1 crash. maybe a regular car crash. the irony of this guy who races in incredibly fast speeds to be killed by something so ordinary, in a car, but not an f1 one. and it wasn't even his fault. some drunk driver or something. he didn't die on an f1 car because speed isn't what kills you, it's suddenly stopping that does.

also still talking about keith's background, keith coming from an f1 family background makes so much sense in my mind. him being an orphan would make it basically impossible to sustain himself in such an expensive sport as a kid like that. but since he was already in the scene, and people respected his dad, he had connections and sponsors (not to mention he had always shown that he was a prodigy in the sport so people were willing to bet on him and support him and his career). he met shiro through that environment too.

he also skipped f2 like a lot of really skilled rookies, but he popped into f1 seemingly "out of nowhere" years after a controversy in his f3 days. it goes like this: james, little asshole james coming close second in that season, is a shit person. he is just fucking mean. and keith has been having a shit year. and idk if you're gonna agree with this but hear me out. shiro crashes. like badly. like career-ending crash. he loses his arm and he is in the hospital, and of course he eventually makes a great recovery, but right now no one knows it yet. they just know that at the very least shiro is never going to race again. they don't know how his recovery is gonna go, IF he is going to recover.

keith is alone. since the death of his dad, he is completely alone. so yeah keith starts to lose it a little bit. and this season has been proving harder than expected, james closing the point gap for first place. the media can't stop making up stories about him, shiro was in the hospital, he had a lot issues with his team manageament, which made his season unnecessarily harder. with all of that, keith becomes more reckless. he has nothing to lose--only the championship.

so, a race happens. bad choices are made. of course james provoked him, coming too close, crashing into him races before but not being too penalized for it. saying some very unkind things about keith and his brother, who was still on the hospital. being a little shit overall. so keith closes in on james, a similar situation as hamilton and verstappen in silverstone back in 2021 (as a max girlie this makes me pissed off but oh well). james runs into the wall. thankfully james's injuries weren't very serious, but he got a broken hand which was enough to make him unable to drive until the end of the championship.

now keith was the champion, right? without james on the next races there is no competition anymore. but keith isn't very happy. his impusiveness damaged his car, and at the very least he will get a grid penalty for provoking that accident. well, it is worse. he is black flagged (idk a lot about black flags but like. provoking a crash like that SHOULD prompt a black flag tbh). his engineer tells him he might be suspended for a few races and he LOSES IT. he really needs more mental health help cause he disobeys the black flag and is even more severely penalized. he really is suspended for the next few races, and basically, it screws everything. he finally lost everything he ever had. and maybe, in some twisted way, he felt like he deserved every single part of it. self sabotage and all of that. well, the media goes crazy because everyone thought he would be the next schumacher when he got older. he dips out of the face of the planet. no one thinks this kid will ever race again. "too unstable" some say. "he is just crazy" others mutter. with no one to help him and sponsors dropping him he is now helpless.

that year, lance won the f3 championship. which pretty much sucked. with keith and james out of picture he was the obvious third place. it helps him get promoted to f2. he was doing great already, but he still felt so undeserving. he didn't beat james nor keith. he was just put on that first place podium. he didn't work for it.

after that year lance and keith didn't talk for a while. keith is benched. put out of the spotlights for a while. he does other races, but out of the classic formula path. just because his team hasn't given up on his world champion potential just yet. so they keep him at arm's length, but further from the media than if he was an actual competitor. to the average fan he just disappeared (well, the average fan doesn't even watch f2, much less f3). in the end, his return is even more impactful, memorable.

about 3 years later keith comes back. he first starts as an f1 reserve driver. substituting another driver that year make people actually see him again. how much he has changed. and how much he is still is hungry for speed. hungry for victory.

okay so i got this ask like as soon as i woke up and i was like HUH bc i forgot about last night :'))

after some consideration, of the monsters:

Kevin would be Shiro, Neil would be Keith, Nicky would be Lance, Andrew would be Hunk, and Aaron would be Pidge. (none of these assignments has anything to do with shipping purposes. like i'm not saying neil and nicky would be klance? i just wanna make that clear?)

Anyhow you can think otherwise, i don't mind! But to me, these just make sense.... I will explain myself below.

Kevin is the slightly older mentor to Neil (the shiro to neil's keith) who is very traumatized by his time with a Bunch of Evil Shits and has gray hair and had his hand (arm) ruined by the enemy! He learns and grows and tries to make his team the best it can be. He never wants to stop until the ravens (galra) are defeated! He's scared bc he's far from home but he's brave as hell anyway! Braver than he should have to be, he's just in his 20s. PLEASE GIVE THIS MAN A BREAK (and also he's separated from his bf. ik kevjean isn't canon but let me make this connection anyway bc they're canon to me)

Neil is the hotheaded asshole who actually sorta wants to be friends with people but has the social skills of a raccoon who was shoved into a trash can and shaken around for, oh, ten years or so. He looks up to Kevin, wants to be like him, but knows he could NEVER fill his shoes! And he doesn't want to! He wants to help Kevin, not be Kevin. (getting the quote wrong for sure but the 'one of us should make it and i want it to be you' kinda mindset is so keith? keith literally almost died to KEEP EVERYONE SAFE!!!! LIKE NEIL'S STUPID MARTYR ASS)

Nicky is the sweet, funny one who cares deeply about everyone and who gets the least consideration from the rest no matter how he tries? (the man willingly moved away from his family (ERIK) to take care of people who don't give a shit about him (supposedly), like lance who was taken from his family to fight to save the world? like... come on.) he's unapologetic about who he is and tries to get along with everyone, for the most part. but he has no problem biting back one someone starts smth. (ie. his beef with Seth and Allison) He is misunderstood, bc while he's outgoing and friendly he also has another side that's just straight-up Traumatized. Like... he's not all jokes. He's just hiding behind them.

Andrew is is strong and is largely a Protector. People misunderstand him because of things outside of his control, by this I mean Andrew is 'evil and crazy,' but it's because of the drugs that he's on bc he was fiercely protective of his cousin. He cares about his people and wants to protect them. (Like Hunk is rightly scared and Andrew acts apathetic, but they do care. That's the important part.) I'm not saying Andrew has a secret heart of gold and he's a Sweet Lil Cinnamon Roll or all the shit people used to say about Hunk (bc let's be honest, making the fat brown character into a uwu baby is rage inducing) but he cares. OH ALSO THEY BOTH HAVE A FEAR OF HEIGHTS!!!! (or hunk did at the beginning anyhow!) Also this is unrelated but I think Andrew would enjoy having a bayard. It could turn into lots of different knives? sign him up : )

Aaron is green. (i was gonna leave it at that to be funny but that would be mean to aaron) So... Aaron is Andrew's everyone's annoying sibling who's actually really smart but also is a dumbass at the same time. He's got ulterior motives to be there. (Aaron plays exy to get his education, Pidge is part of voltron to find her dad and brother.) And Aaron is going into the medical field which is science related, thusly... assigned green paladin by Moi.

Anyway, it just fits. I could probably go into even more detail but I'd rather be dead than discuss this show at length bc I'm not a really voltron fan. I love the characters and the first three seasons. that's where it stops for me. the rest of the show makes me wanna die. lol i couldn't even tell you what happens after s3. i've blocked it all of that shit from my memory. :')

1 — What is your most popular fic?

my first fic that passed 3000 words: Ten Minutes On The Clock, Twenty Years On My Mind. it’s a fic that’s mostly centred around hunk & lance (in hunk’s pov) as lance does something hugely heroic and badass and self-sacrificing and pretty much almost dies. it’s one of my faves as it’s my first bamf lance fic i think (and also one that was in my head for a very long time), but i am kind of shocked at the numbers lol.

7 — What’s a trope you love to write?

i am so fucking obsessed with eloped klance, ergo my Just Say I Do series. it’s so fun. i’m also fond of tall keith, autistic lance (obviously lol), animal-whisperer lance, whipped to hell keith, adhd keith, and of course brown-eyed lance is a hill i will die on. i also love asshole retired older brother shiro.

9 — What’s your favourite line(s) or scene(s) that you have written?

not to sound conceited but i’m pretty proud of almost everything i’ve written 💀 sometimes i reread my own shit and laugh at my own damn jokes lol. BUT i am especially proud of this scene from I’ll Go Get A Ring (Let The Choir Bells Sing):

“Just double checking something,” Keith says carefully. “D’you know Olkarion marriage certificates are recognised on almost every single known planet in the universe?”

Lance’s freezes briefly, but continues his steady motions through Keith’s hair.

Not surprised, but not expecting it.

It’s silent for a few moments. Not an uncomfortable silence, not even a hesitant one. Keith doesn’t look nervous or afraid. The only way he’s looking at Lance is lovingly. Reverently. Lance feels a lump in his throat.

“I’m not easy,” Lance warns eventually, voice shaking. “I need a lot of attention. There are days where I can’t get out of bed. I flail around in my sleep. I’m whiny, I don’t eat many different foods, and I don’t always liked to be touched. I’m a handful.”

Keith turns his head the next time Lance brings his hand back to brush through his bangs, pressing a gentle kiss to the palm.

“You think I don’t know all that already? Lance,” he leans his head into Lance’s cupped hand, and Lance strokes a soft thumb over his cheekbone. “I don’t need you to be easy. Or palatable, or healthy, or pretty — although you are — or normal. I just need you. I love you, sweetheart. I’m in love with you. I don’t want to be anything else.”

Lance can’t stop the tears clouding his eyes, and wouldn’t if he could, anyway. Keith has known him at his lowest, and loved him then. There’s no reason to hide.

“Besides, I’m not perfect either,” Keith adds. “I get angry too easily. I say mean things just to hurt people sometimes, even though I always regret it. I have a ridiculously minuscule amount of impulse control. I forget important dates and anniversaries — you’ll probably have to remind me every year, several times. I regularly forget to eat and shower. I’m just as much of a mess as you, nae salang. But I want you with me, Lance, always. I want us.”

“I want you too,” Lance chokes out. “All of you. Every part of you. I love you, I love you, I love you. Entirely and wholly, Keith. You’re my moon and my sun and my stars. You’re everything to me, amor. All I’ve ever wanted or needed.”

You know, Lance is honestly probably one of the first people that actually talked to Keith and established some sort of relationship with him. Keith was an orphan for at least a little bit in his early life after his father died before Shiro eventually took him in. Then, he lived alone after being kicked out of the Garrison because Shiro was gone, so it's important that Lance seeks him out and forms a relationship with him because he needs that. The only person Keith really had before Voltron was Shiro. His mother left when Keith was just a baby in order to, ultimately, protect him, and his father died when he was very young, so he was put into the system. Shiro, somehow, found him, took him in, and he's the reason Keith enrolled in the Garrison (as Keith said in S2, his life would've been a lot different without Shiro). My point is, Keith needs people. That is a big part of his overall character arc - growing out of being a loner who pushes people away and learning to let people in. We know he can come off as distant and uninterested, which has to do with all his underlying issues. We know he's a hothead and got into trouble at the Garrison (I don't think he started stuff with other students just for the hell of it, I think he might've gotten treated poorly by his classmates... and I'm sure the reason he popped Iverson in the eye wasn't because he started something himself, I bet Iverson said something that really got to Keith, probably something about Shiro). Combining that with his high achievements as a pilot, I imagine he spent a lot of time by himself while in school. I think he not only chose to stay away from people, but I also get the impression that people just either didn't talk to him at all anyway. Other students may have just avoided him because of how he was, so they might've been intimidated/scared by him, or they were raging assholes to him. Then, Lance decides they’re rivals. He's not scared of Keith, he is intrigued... he is interested. He wants to be on Keith's level. He wants to compete with him. Lance is determined to have this rivalry, to get Keith's attention, to be a part of his life somehow. His rivalry with Keith makes him strive to do his best in order to beat him. It inspires him, in a way.

  Once they're a part of Voltron together, Lance doesn't just aim to compete with Keith and get on his nerves, he talks to him like a regular person, too. The, "I say Vol, you say Tron!" cheer is a good example of that. He made Keith feel like part of the group and established a connection with him from the get-go. Shiro is older than Keith, a mentor and a brother figure. He raised him. They're not exactly equals. In contrast, Lance is his peer and while he may not exactly see himself as Keith's equal yet, Keith views Lance as his equal. They are friends. Keith needs friends, especially friends his age. He needs more than just Shiro, he needs more people in his life who love him unconditionally. His relationship with Shiro and his relationship with Lance are both important, but vastly different. They're important in different ways, for different reasons. Of course, Keith has developed great relationships with the others on the team, but Lance is likely the second person he's ever really connected with.

So I'm a spider so what?

I've been obsessed with this for a while now. This is the Isekai that puts most other Isekai to shame. It took me a while just to get my thoughts straight about this story because no matter what I wrote I couldn't fully express just what was it that made Spider so damn amazing. It's everything in it.

Doing a proper analysis of this is beyond me. So I'm just simply going to give my thoughts on it and what in my opinion makes this anime (and the web novel and light novels) so great. Also this will contain some spoilers for the novels.

I have this pet peeve. Whenever a fantasy world introduces a bunch of strong powerful monsters but have the hero deal with them very quickly and then they just move on to fight something more humanoid. Yeah, I hate that. A lot of stories skip over the grinding, skip over the training or move past it very quickly and this isn't limited to isekai.

Spider does the exact opposite. They show the main character struggle, fight and claw her way up. They show every power up, how she earned it and how much she had to struggle to earn it. It shows Kumoko's though process in detail. Insted of having her figure out something just because, the story walks us through her though process. Even though Kumoko or Shiro is immensely, unbelievably powerful it never feels unrealistic. Since we see how much she has struggled to get where she is now as Shiro (especially in the novels) every power up felt earned.

The story messes with our perception of what's right and wrong. It gives an explanation for a game like system and insted of having the god like figure who reincarnates the main character/s be a passive trivial figure like most isekai, Spider portrays that figure as an evil god who is watching other suffer for her own amusement. It makes me root for the "villanin's side". When the villains kill a bunch of humans the only thing I could think of was, you go girl!

Since Kumoko's story is being Juxtapose with Shun's story, who would be your typical isekai protagonist in any other story, the difference between Spider and your everyday lazy isekai is very apparent. Shun thinks and acts like a typical isekai protagonist but when you compare him to Kumoko he comes off as annoying. He comes off as stupid and overconfident. He has it better than most and he doesn't realize that. He might hear what someone else has gone through and think oh that's rough, and then go right back to throw himself a pity party.

I think Wrath's story later on has some parallels with Shun. With an older brother he looked up to and a little sister he adored but then one day tragedy strikes and his world is thrown into chaos. Except Wrath had it so do much worse.

They story makes you dislike the character who would be the protagonist in any other story and insted makes you sympathize and root for people who would have been the big bad.

Then there's the elves. Fantasy loooves elves for some reason. And it annoys me so much. In whatever story elves are always self righteous, elitist judgemental assholes who are kinda good at archery. I end up disliking elves in most stories. But here, oh here the elves are the assholes. And watching Kumoko take them down is so satisfactory.

The last thing I wanna talk about is power of friendship. I think power of friendship works, even in this story, just not for Shun and Co. Spider has a theme of someone always being stronger than you. Kumoko knows this very well. For a long time she had to constantly fight monsters who were stronger than her. She thinks, she plans and she doesn't underestimate her enemy. She gets out of bad situations because is prepared and because she can think logically no matter how dangerous the situation gets. When she works with other people she takes their strengths and weaknesses into account. Kumoko and Ariel has won a fight with power of friendship. Except it wasn't just because of power of friendship. They won because they are smart and strong and they know their opponent.

Shun and Co. don't have that. They don't know their enemy and on top of that they underestimate them. They don't have a plan, they are not prepared and they are not nearly as strong as demon lord's party. Even if they were to give their best they wouldn't win.

That's something I really, really love. Very early on in the web novel Shun remarks something along the lines of in this word working hard gives you a tangible result. That's true. The one who has worked the hardest would be the most powerful one. But in this story that's not the hero and his stupid harem, it's the demon lord and her allies.

this is one of the first klance fanfics i ever read and i still reread it it is literally so good! it’s a secret relationship fic and i just love the way keith and lance interact in it!

Lance’s eyes subconsciously glanced over to Keith who was stubbornly looking straight ahead, but you could tell he was listening closely. “I’d like to think so.” ````````````````````Or five times Lance was jealous but couldn't say anything and the one time that he punches someone in the face.

CAMP COUNSELOR AU!! i really liked this one because it was one of those fanfics where you can really feel like how much they love each other plus i really like seeing keith pine over how good lance is with kids. also it gives u a pjo feel which is nice

summary: Keith reluctantly becomes the counselor for the Red Cabin at Camp Voltron, a summer camp in the middle of buttfuck nowhere that his older brother Shiro has worked at for years. Already unhappy with the current position that he is in, Keith prepares himself for a boring, sweaty, miserable summer; and his frustration only grows when he meets the counselor for the Blue Cabin- an insufferable asshole with a horrible sense of humor, a devilish smirk, an inexplicable animosity towards the Red Cabin, and a smile that literally looks like the sun. Needless to say Keith is really, really unprepared for the next three months.

i read this one pretty recently and i actually really liked it. it’s a good boy lance/bad boy keith one but it also focused on things like questioning your sexuality and college life! also drummer keith!

summary: Lance is 100%, without a doubt, straight. He has the perfect girlfriend and has never wanted anything more. But suddenly his world is being turned upside down by the boy playing the drums at his local bar--a boy who happens to be very good looking, very gay, and very very interested in Lance. aka: Good-Boy Lance has a crisis when he meets Keith because he's so damn attractive, and Keith is a little ho that is way too promiscuous and open about his sexuality. The become friends. Confusion and sexual tension ensue.

ACTOR AU!! i love this one because it so unbelievably funny and i love how keith and lance have to deal with the klance fandom in it also there is leakira in it too!! it’s really just a good story!

summary: Lance is getting his big American debut on a new T.V series called Voltron. He's excited and nervous about how amazingly talented and famous his cast members are. But most importantly Lance is anticipating meeting his character -Leandro's- love interest in the show. Who happens to played by the be mega famous, mega hot Keith Kogane. But due to a misunderstanding during their first encounter, Lance now thinks Keith is the biggest jerk alive. Keith now has to try and fix it, for the sake of the show, and also for the sake of their on screen romance, which may start venture off screen as well.

THIS ONE IS SO GOOD! it’s a mind meld accident one but it’s also a soulmate au! i really enjoyed this fic i read it a while ago but it is still one of my all time favorites!

summary: It was just a simple mind-meld exercise. But something seems to happen in the middle and now Lance and Keith can feel each other's emotions. Lance realizes that Keith actually desperately wants to be open and vulnerable around people and Keith realizes that Lance just wants someone to notice him. They try to navigate their new reality.

Shiro and Ichigo are the twin half-human sons of the great Demon Lord Isshin, raised by their mother Masaki when Isshin disappeared mysteriously shortly after their baby sisters were born, and then by a "friend of the family" Kisuke when Masaki was killed in a demon attack on karakura when they were only nine.

Ichigo is the older one, technically, and though they love each other dearly Shiro also gives Ichigo so much shit about it. Ichigo doesn't even want to be the King of Demons, he has ever intention of abdicating and handing the title over to Shiro at the first opportunity, but that doesn't stop Shiro from calling him "King" or, when Shiro is feeling really sassy, "Lord Asshole".

But then a few days before they turn eighteen Aizen comes down on Karakura with force because he wants the throne of Hell and he's not too concerned that he has to kill a couple of teenagers to get it

Though he is the kind of coward who will send his demon lackeys to do his dirty work for him.

(Shiro deflects the blue-haired one's attack with a flick of his wrist, sending the demi-demon soaring in the process, and Ichigo grew up with Shiro, but Shiro's cackle of sheer delight still never fails to raise the hairs on Ichigo's arms. 

"Dibs!" Shiro crows, and Ichigo sputters, because the last time Shiro called dibs on a person was at their highschool graduation afterparty, and Shiro's "walk of shame" the following morning was distinctly lacking in shame.

"No," Ichigo snarls, and the only thing keeping him from lunging at his brother is this wolf-garbed asshole that keeps shooting at him. "Just-- no, oh my god, Shiro. He's an enemy, have some fucking class.")

(Ichigo has no leg to stand on by the time Aizen is dead he and that "wolf-garbed asshole" are practically attached at the hip)

Chapter 14

Pidge POV

Shiro takes a deep breath in and says, “When I first saw you, you looked familiar like I saw you before. But, hey, I see a lot of people in my line of work so I didn’t really think anything of it. Not going to lie, with the people you were hanging around with I just figured I’d seen you on some database of criminals. Plus the first time I saw you I was more concerned about Keith’s reaction to you than your per se. So I was pretty slow on the uptake. But between things Keith told me and what I put together on my own, well, seeing you in person in regular light…I think you need to meet our own personal tech genius, or the man in the chair.”

He opens the door and an actual guy in a wheelchair rolls in. I look into eyes that are startling like mine. I can’t think any more, rational thought is beyond me at this point, and I think I’m just staring. This…guy. He. Me. Shit. I think I must make some kind of sound, maybe even words, but I don’t even know what. It’s like I’m in a tunnel. All I can see is this guy and blackness surrounding me. I think I’m losing it but that when that I feel Keith holding tight and grabbing my hand. He pulls me close and whisper, “Katie, babe, stay with me.”

I instinctively hold on. What the hell?! He looks, a lot, like me. Scarily so.

It’s only as I register Keith’s hand that I notice the guys eyes are filled with tears as well. He’s staring at me and the room is deathly quiet. Finally, he whispers, “My God, Pidgey is that really you?”

I don’t answer. I can’t. That name, that voice, make me choke up. He looks like a younger cooler version of what I think is my… dad? Or a older, male, version of … myself. That makes. No sense. Because I’m alone, an orphan. They said I had no relatives. I blink but he’s still there. I must squeeze Keith’s hand even tighter-that he must take that as an indication that I want him to answer for me.

“Yes?” Keith queries for me.

God he’s a man of few words. I let out a huff of breath I didn’t even realize I was holding. Eyes closing I focus on his hand on mine. He’s not going to give any more information that he has to. He really does have my back. I can feel his muscles tense, ready to react to anything. And I know he’d protect me. Without a second thought. I also can see his mom at the ready too. Silent and deadly.

Unfortunately, Keith’s friends are NOT like him.

Lance yelps. “Aye Dios mio!!!! Why do you look like her??? Doesn’t he look like her?! You look like Keith’s girlfriend!! Were you adopted too? What the hell Shiro? EXPLAIN!!!”

Hunk moans, “Lance! Shut up! Um, Shiro, I hope you know what you are doing. Cuz, um Pidge here is an orphan. And um, who is this? What is going on??! I’m starting to get worried. And I’m feeling the need to make a cake. I’m feeling very stressed.”

The man in the chair gasps, “Shit, Shiro. I’m going to kill that mother fucking asshole. You can arrest me when I’m done. I don’t care!” He moves his chair forward, closer to me. OMG. What should I do. I freeze and lean away.

Shiro closes his eyes, “Well before you commit any crimes, ANY of you, how about you explain what you think you know. I think we all need to compare stories first. Okay, everyone, this is MATT, or the Rebel, the police force’s secret weapon. He can hack into anything and is a genius at engineering just about anything folks in the field could need. I met him when we were in high school. He helped me graduate and we both joined up with the police force after a stint in the Garrison. We stayed close and well, um, Matt? Can you continue?”

“Oh, um, yeah, sure. So I was in a really bad accident when I was a kid. So bad that I was told my entire family died…I was the only, sole, survivor. After I got out of the hospital, I went to a home for boys, and eventually they registered me at the local high school. I was a natural at science and computers, and it was there I met Shiro. The Garrison is basically a military type of organization that is let’s say off the books. But I made some great connections and got some needed experience. And eventually when we wanted out it wasn’t a problem. I, I never thought anyone lied to me. Because why? Why hide my family? Why say I was an orphan? I don’t understand how you are here but God dammit, you have got to be my baby sister-Pidge-Katie Holt!”

He rolled his chair even closer, looking deep into her eyes and she could see the unmistakable truth. But it was heart breaking. All she could think of was years, YEARS she missed out. On his life and visa versa. But to what end? She bit her lip and tried to control the tears that were threatening her. Family? Brother? Is it true?

Hesitatingly he reached out for her arm and she just sobbed. “Mattie, really?!?”

He reached out and pulled her into his arms, practically picking her up and onto his lap. And as he held her she felt a little part of her soul regain its hope, love, and trust. This couldn’t be bad, she just got her big brother back! Mattie?>! No this was good, she found her other half, her love and it just hit her, it had to be fate. It was meant to be.

And inadvertently, it was all due to Keith…

Keith’s POV

Keith’s mind is racing. Fuck if this is her brother, then there was a whole conspiracy to have people believe Katie was dead AND for her to think she was the sole survivor! And why?! To what end? That means that asshole being her friend, or whatever he made himself as-savior, boyfriend, fiancé, was not a coincidence nor an accident. They used her. From..the… fucking… beginning. Who does that? To a fucking kid?!

Who kills someone’s parents, their brother… and then replaces them with themselves. A child. They manipulated her and hurt her. That… no… good… dirty… bastard. He feels his hands clench and he wants to find Lotor and his father and teach them a lesson. Slowly. It’s then that his head is smacked and he looks up into his mother’s eyes.

With one head shake, she reorients him back to the present. Shit there will be time for that later. Right now he needs to support Katie. This isn’t about him. It’s about Katie and what she must be feeling. Crap he can’t even imagine.

Refocused on his girl, he waits for her to indicate she needs him or what she needs of him. He doesn’t want to pull her from her brother but at the same time wants to be ready just in case she needs him. And after a few minutes she leans back from Matt and frantically turns, breathing fast and uneven. He makes sure to move into her line of vision. Trying to reassure her, he initiates contact by grabbing her shoulder but she launches herself at him. He quickly adjusts her weight in his arms and pulls her closer. Keeping her close. His girl. His. Everything.

“You’re okay, you’re okay. I got you.” He holds her close and even with all his friends and her brother around, he kisses her. Softly, trying to get her to focus just on him. Once he feels her muscles relax, he adjusts her even closer.

Finally, she slumps against him and he finally looks up straight over to Matt. “Can you fill in some of the details. Because I know Shiro and you didn’t just guess. You both did some intensive research in a very quick turnaround of time. Dude, I know you.”

Shiro nods, “Yeah, we did. Or well Matt did. He was in the hospital when the funerals happened and he just took what they said as truth. His family was gone. But not just in death, Katie was just gone but strangely no body.”

Matt interjects, “After a while, I felt a need to know everything about everything. And the information wasn’t easily accessible which was not a big problem for me. But, oddly, nothing really made sense. So I dug. And I dug. This has been a project since, well, high school.”

Katie finally interjects, “ I didn’t go to the funerals either but I have visited your.. grave. Graves. Shit, have I ever really been where they were buried? Oh my, what the hell? What about-!”

“No! Sorry mom and dad, they are gone. But dad was working on a case, a big one. I remember him being even more absentminded and more distracted. But we were just kids and well back then I didn’t realize.”

Keith figures this was expected but not welcomed. He murmurs, “Hey it’s okay, you got brother, just focus on that! Plus you got me and mine. Your ours now, no question.”

It was then Lance, in all his exuberance, interjects, “Yes, you are ours, nuestra familia!”

Keith looks down at Katie, “You compressed? You are mine. So, what do you need?”

She stares, at him, then looks to Matt, “I…dunno. This is a lot to take in. Keith?”

He holds her, “I know, but we have TWO geniuses here, we can figure something out. Right?”

With a watery smile, she nods. “Ok, yeah, let’s come up with a plan.”

Keith smiles, “A kick ass plan.”

Matt watery grins, “A grand, kick ass, Holt plan. Honestly nothing stands a chance.”

"Oh! Oh my God! My little brother… actually at home for once? It must be a miracle!"

"Stop being an asshole," Keith muttered as Shiro engulfed him in an overdramatic hug.

"You've been avoiding me for over two weeks. I believe I reserve the right as the older brother to make your life hell for two minutes."

Keith rolled his eyes. If Shiro thought being engulfed into bear hugs by him was hell, Keith wasn't planning on bursting that bubble. The fact that he was joking around at least told Keith that he wasn't angry.

"Not to dig you further into this, but what are you doing here, Keith?" Adam asked. "You haven't spent the night here since your dance."

"I figured I couldn't avoid this much longer, especially since we have to dive into your wedding plans," Keith said as he walked over to help put away groceries.

"So do me a favor and put that psych degree to use, yeah?" Shiro said. Keith sighed as he shut the pantry. "Why would someone avoid a conversation about the issue with befriending someone who emotionally and mentally abused them before?"

"You're making assumptions," Keith said.

Beta Keith/Omega Lance

so my idea is that lance was raised with the way of mind that alpha are perfect and they will take care of him and blablabla aqueu aqueu prince charming shit so lance is really naive and when he was young let’s say 15/16 he will find an alpha like two years older and he is an asshole but lance don’t see that bcs he has the ‘he is perfect’ filter.

And let say that his friend were little shit and nobody said anything and he was sort of manipulated by the alpha and all his friend who were raised with the same mindset said that it’s normal ‘you have to listen to him, plus he is older than us and an alpha so he must be right, listen to him’. 

It’s the following shit again when his heat approach the asshole tell him all the obvious talk about ‘this is right you have to do it with me’ and lance is hesitant but do to his mindset and morales he decides to listen to him and let say that one of his sister discover the whole thing and she is an omega and know that this isn’t normal and she manages to save his brother at the last moment.

Except lance has been almost raped and the assault was very traumatising for him.

Family drama, it divides the whole McClain family and Lance feel soooo guilty. 

Plus now he can’t stand alphas scent because it cause a resurfacing of the trauma and make him sick. 

His sister really help him and he understand that he really has no true friends and decides to change school where he meet Hunk and Pidge. 

It’s a slow process but he manages to make peace with himself about his secondary gender and being an omega where society is limiting him in most of the sector. He become sort of repulsed by sex with someone bcs ‘i can do it myself thank you very much’. 

He met Shiro who is an alpha and keith who is a beta aqueu aqueu i don't know what to say blablabla lance is unnerving near shiro and keith thinks it’s infatuation and try really hard to matchmakes his brother and this really handsome person.

And bcs Keith is a little obvious with sentiments sometimes he doesn’t see that lance is starting to crush hard on him and that this is why Lance go with you shitty matchmaking to please you!!

Shiro understand everything and even is the first ‘date’ with lance his really weird he help lance to accept little by little the presence of alpha  near him but not to near like ‘hi you’re my friend’ and that’s it. It really help our poor lance who start to reveal to shiro that he is crushing on keith but he doesn’t know what to do 

And shiro is like ‘i know he is a little dumb when it come to people there is no excuse, you have to be blunt’ with a really serious face and lance is internally panicking bcs ‘there is no fucking way i mean i have to be subtle he must do the first step’ ‘no if you want something fucking ask for it, gently of course, or else you will never have it’.

aqueu aqueu lance plan an evening for him and keith at his home and he has a whole script planned in his head and he was so nervous he didn’t notice that his heat was approaching and when keith is here  he start, like after an awkward moment, to have really bad cramp and its blinding him with pain.

Keith thinks he has to call shiro bcs he is not the alpha lance need or want

‘YOU ARE WRONG YOU DUMB ASSBUTT I LOVE YOU’ and lance would say that when he is rolling on the ground in pain.

Keith is too shocked to understand that is crush also like him and pass in a mechanic way where he transport lance to his room and help him to organize his nest when he is not in pain. 

After the pain start the horniness but Lance, even if he feel safe with keith bcs he has a not to strong scent and he know Keith will not be sex starved by hormones, manage to keep cool. 

Keith is uncomfortable but he still stay with Lance while waiting for his family to come home and take care of him. (he keep his hand to himself of course, gentleman shit right here, or just basic decency your pick)

A  really strong trust has been made : Keith is hopelessly in love with lance and will do anything for him and Lance realize that he can envisage being in a relationship with other without being pressurized.

Remember how I said I had deaf!Keith headcanons...

I have TWO deaf!Keith au ideas that will probably never get around to writing but I’m throwing them down right here because I need them out of my brain so I can do some actual writing, kay? (Both are Klance btw)

It’s long so it’s under the cut. Feel free to leave comments, thoughts, etc in the replies since my ask box is still closed haha.

Born deaf Keith AU (not as angsty) 

Parents figured it out a little late as he wouldn’t respond to them when they talked. But he was always watching them intently, his stubby little baby fingers on their mouths. 

Gets his first hearing aid at two. Cries when he hears his parent’s voices for the first time.

He doesn’t like it when people stare at his hearing aids, so he keeps them out for the longest time when at school.

Falls behind in middle school because he can’t hear the lecture-only teachers and they talk too fast for him to figure it out via lipreading. And since he’s not a particularly outgoing kid he doesn’t ask others for their notes.

Shiro becomes his tutor. He’s fluent in sign language as his brother is deaf. Keith comes to admire Shiro a lot and starts wearing his aids again but growing his hair out to hide them.

He’s one of the smartest kids in the high school. Has a few friends but he doesn’t talk. He doesn’t like the sound of his voice when he does talk so he avoids it. They chalk it up to him being introverted since they don’t know about his deafness. 

Meets Lance in high school and it’s rocky. Lance thinks Keith’s a pretentious straight-A asshole who was ignoring him when he asked a question about his notes (he couldn’t hear him sometimes he just doesn’t wear his aids) so they don’t get along at first.

Lance throws things at Keith sometimes and shoots rude glares at him. Keith then begins to actively ignore him.

Lance catches him adjusting his aids in his seat and stares perplexed. What the hell are those? Is he listening to music in class? Typical. The straight-A student gets to do whatever he wants because he’s so smart.

More animosity.

Someone comes to talk to Keith at the school about colleges and asks Lance for his classroom. Lance points the way, shocked that Keith talks to anyone since he doesn’t think he’s ever heard Keith speak even once. He watches as they have a conversation with his hands with confusion. 

What the hell? Keith’s deaf? Why didn’t he just say that? He never would have picked a fight with him if he’d known.

Keith signs at him ‘But you still would have picked a fight with me if I’d been able to hear? I shouldn’t have to tell you that I’m deaf for you to be a decent fucking human being.’

Lance leaves Keith alone for a while. Keith thinks he’s finally gotten Lance off his case.

Several weeks later Lance taps Keith’s shoulder and asks if they can talk. He does a whole practiced bunch of sign language to apologize. 

Signs out ‘I wanted to tell you I’m sorry. I should have been nicer, regardless of your hearing. I was terrible and you don’t have to forgive me but can I tell you why I got so mad at you?’  Keith nods, arms crossed and waiting for an explanation. ‘Do you have your hearing aids in?’ Keith nods again so Lance speaks to Keith. ‘I have a big family and uh, I love them but the worst thing about it is sometimes it feels like no one’s listening to you. Like no one is hearing you even when you scream. It’s annoying and they’re not even doing it intentionally. So when it felt like you were ignoring me on purpose it got me frustrated. And angry. You don’t talk much but I get the feeling you know the feeling. Being ignored or not listened to…sucks.’ Keith admits that true with a nod. ‘So can we start again?’ he asks and signs out ‘want to be friends?’

Keith and Lance start over. Lots of talking on Lance’s end and lots of listening on Keith’s.

Lance does some tutoring with Keith and Shiro to bring his grades back up. He learns a little sign language by proxy. Sometimes Shiro will teach him some when they finish their lessons. 

Lance and Keith start having conversations at school with sign, their friendship growing. He stops caring if people know if he’s deaf. Leaves his hair long in case he wants to cover them but starts wearing his hair in a tail so people can see his hearing aids without feeling embarrassed.

People ask Lance how to say things to Keith. They want to talk to Keith too. Now Keith’s got lots of school friends eager to talk to him.

Lance starts falling for Keith over the summer break. They hang out regularly with Keith’s super smart friends from other schools. (Pidge and Allura from an all girls school and Hunk from another school) YAY! THE SQUAD!

By the end of high school they’re both in love (BECAUSE I LIKE A HAPPY ENDING DAMN IT)

Not born deaf Keith (ANGSTY TW: PHYSICAL ABUSE and BULLYING)

He was a really quiet infant and toddler, almost never opening his mouth to speak. But then his parents died in an accident and he stopped talking period.

He was shuttled off to a foster home and was teased relentlessly by other kids for not talking. He knows how but he doesn’t want to. He just wants to be left alone. He gets into fights with the kids until he’s moved to a different home.

The second home is worse. The kids don’t pick on him but one of the adults beats him regularly when he doesn’t answer or doesn’t do what he’s told. 

He takes a beating so bad he has to be taken to the hospital. It’s so bad that he ruptured both eardrums and loses his hearing. 

Keith gets moved to a new home again, this one with an older couple, one of them deaf. They try to teach him sign but he’s obstinate. He figures he’ll just be shuttled off again when he’s too inconvenient for them. But things get better. They’re nicer than the last few homes. 

He gets teased in middle school about his hearing aids but it doesn’t last long when he beats up his bullies. 

One of the older couple passes away. As much as they want to keep them she can’t take care of all her foster kids on her own. They’re all sent out to new homes.

The newest home isn’t bad but it’s not great either. The parents do the bare minimum but they don’t beat him and the other kids give him his space. Better than nothing. He starts high school in the fall.

Lance comes into the school two weeks late. Just moved. Settles into the class pretty well but takes note of Keith who always seems to sit alone at the back of the class.

He notices that people tend to avoid the deaf kid but some of them mess with him. Throw paper airplanes and such at him. He sits alone at lunch. And the kid never talks. Not even to the teachers about the bullying that’s clearly going on.

Lance sees Keith getting beat up after school. They take out his hearing aid and toss it around. Keith’s about to just leave without it until an enraged Lance decks the head honcho. He returns Keith his hearing aid that he puts back in.

‘I didn’t ask you to help me’ Keith writes in a small steno pad. ‘Why did you do that?’

‘I don’t need a reason to help someone’ Lance tells him. ‘Besides those scumbags had it coming…taking someone’s means to navigate the world around them. No mercy.’

Keith keeps an eye out for Lance after that. Sees the way he’s constantly helping people and teachers with anything they need. Turns out Lance has a blind sister who used to get teased a lot. Kids would steal her walking stick and hide it when she was little and Lance always came to her rescue.

Keith doesn’t get picked on for over a week. It’s weird. He keeps expecting the usual guys to come and try to take his hearing aids but they don’t. They seem to be preoccupied with other things now.

He asks Lance about it after a few days. Lance says he told them to leave Keith alone is all. ‘Really? That’s it and they listened to you?’ Keith asks on his steno pad. ‘Yeah’ Lance tells him with a smile. ‘I’m a very persuasive guy’

Someone tells Keith later that the reason they aren’t picking on Keith anymore is that they’re picking on Lance instead. They saw him get beat up in the locker room the other day. He had bruises all over.

Keith is furious. That nosey idiot! Doesn’t he know that if he gets hit hard enough he’ll end up just like Keith? He can’t let that happen to the only kid who’s ever been nice to him. 

He overhears the beatdown behind the school. ‘What a moron, taking that deaf kid’s place’ they say and ‘what has that guy ever done for you or anyone other than scowl at them?’ and ‘why are you even helping him? He your boyfriend?’  Lance just answers ‘I don’t need a reason to help someone, so just…leave him alone.”

Keith slams the door open and they drop Lance to the floor. Keith readies his fists but the group laughs. They’re done there so they leave. Keith helps Lance up off the floor and to the nurses office. (The nurse thinks for a hot second that Keith beat him up but Lance assures them it wasn’t him.) 

Once they’re sure there’s no permanent damage Keith angrily signs at him. Lance doesn’t understand. He uses the notebook instead. ‘You’re an idiot. A moron. You could have gotten hurt, badly hurt. You have friends and family. You shouldn’t get beat up for me.’ But Lance says that’s his choice to make, not Keith’s. 

After that Keith doesn’t let Lance out of his sight. Hell if he’s getting beat again because of Keith. That works two fold because the bullies don’t want to mess with two people at once since there’s a chance they could lose. Keith and Lance together is too much of a gamble to risk.

Being together all the time after that, Lance talks with Keith regularly in his notebook. Then he learns some sign language to talk more. Keith actually starts smiling at school after that and Lance’s new friend turns into his new crush. 

The one time the bully group tries to take them both the bullies fail spectacularly. Keith and Lance trounce them (suffering a few bruises for their troubles). In their victory, they kiss. After that they begin dating. 

They make it through high school without any more hiccups. Keith’s never been happier. They end up going to the same college so they won’t be split up. Because as formidable as the are on their own, they’re best as a team. (BECAUSE I LIKE A HAPPY ENDING OKAY??)

Keith reluctantly becomes the counselor for the Red Cabin at Camp Voltron, a summer camp in the middle of buttfuck nowhere that his older brother Shiro has worked at for years. Already unhappy with the current position that he is in, Keith prepares himself for a boring, sweaty, miserable summer; and his frustration only grows when he meets the counselor for the Blue Cabin- an insufferable asshole with a horrible sense of humor, a devilish smirk, an inexplicable animosity towards the Red Cabin, and a smile that literally looks like the sun.

Needless to say Keith is really, really unprepared for the next three months.
