peter having malefic placements in his 7H and 10H is so cruel like i cannot even begin to describe how heartbreaking that is. and of course even the malefic placements have their benefits dont get it wrong but BOY do they manifest in the worst way for him.

Astrology Observations: Aries Edition
Tumblr media
Aries Suns actually have no problems expressing themselves because the sun is exalted in this sign. Contrary to the belief, Aries Suns aren’t really that hot headed. They’re actually pretty chill because they’re in there natural element. They don’t mind going there with you and cuss you out if you pushed them enough. They may end up having children who are very active , hot tempered or very independent.
Aries Moons are the hot tempered ones lol. There anger is soo intense chile, yall remind me of taz from loony toons. The crazy part, yall tempers come quickly but it goes away just as quick. They may come from families that’s always in some type of conflict. They can be very Emotionally impulsive if they haven’t learned to deal with it in a healthy way. Some sort of physical activity like boxing can help, gotta let off that steam.
Aries risings- truly embodies the energy of Mars. I notice every Aries rising has a prominent head and it’s shaped like a helmet, no shade yall😅. Yall heads remind me of a warrior helmet. Aries rules the head too. Aries , especially in there youth was always the leader in a group. Usually the front man or the one who always steps up to call the shots! Lawd, don’t let a Capricorn be in the group lol, 2 leaders right there😅 maybe it’s just me but Aries rising are always hot no matter the temperature lol. Yall don’t like to wear that many clothes either, if you can walk naked , you would 😅
Aries Mercury folks got into lots of trouble as a youth due to having a smart mouth 😆. They may have struggled with superiority especially with male teachers growing up. Could be the oldest sibling or the sibling that takes control. Aries can be brutally honest but their tone can get them into trouble. They love sports or muscle cars and prefer to drive them.
Aries Venus fall in and out of love to easily. They love hard at first but get bored too quickly! They need to learn to slow down savior in the connection. They go all in too fast and their candlelight goes out. One they learn to slow down and take in the connection, they can have a long term relationship. These are some ride or die lovers, they guard you with their life. They don’t play when it comes to there lover.
Aries Mars thrives better when they are physically involved into whatever they’re interested in. They’re very much hands on type of people! If it involves creating something from scratch, they love it even more! They’re dominant lovers in the bed and not afraid to show you a thing or two. They’re just as intense in the bedroom as scorpios but there is more fiery.
Aries Jupiter people manifesting prayers can come quickly!! I also notice people with this placement loves traveling to very active, hot places.
Aries Saturn people master their identity as they get older. At some point you stop carrying about the societal pressures and you start living life. Also every decision you make affects you long term.
Aries NN are breaking away from the “I’ll be a good teammate” to “okay so as your leader, here’s the plan.” This is a lifelong lesson so you’ll get there.
Aries SN are born soldiers in this lifetime, they may have scars or a noticeable birthmark on them that stands out.
Asteroid Juno Aries people will have such a busy marriage life. Your partner and you will always be doing something together! Yall will be the hot couple too. You may end up married quickly in your relationship as well.
Asteroid Pallas Aries get there greatest ideas when they are moving around. Pallas is known as the “genius “ asteroid.

Astrology observations part 11;
(Don’t copy my work pliz and these aren’t facts but what I have seen and experienced in my life. If you can’t relate to any of these. It okay we are all different)
Tumblr media
-Pisces are really good gaslighters like they argue and they know they losing and then boom…you are the one who is crazy. (Girly pops how about stop it)
- speaking of Pisces…maybe I’m saying it from personal experience but I can’t keep an aesthetic and even when I have find a aesthetic Im changing again. It’s endless circle…I hope another Pisces can relate with me:)
- i have seen an Aquarius women being so quick minded and have unique takes but also I have seen Aquarius women being really shy and slow to talk. There is no between with them.
- y’all think that Taurus are the lazy and don’t like to work out but they are so active and most of them love sports or gym.
- the second best venus is cancer…soooo giving soooo sweet and lovinggggg 🥰
- Aries placements show PASSION in any planet/house they are placed . Like if you have Aries moon you will be really vocal about ur emotions. If you have mercury then you will be passionate about ur opinions ect.
- Taurus and libra are the type of people who are seductive and flirty so naturally but if doesn’t work out they will be so pissed.
- Pisces are insane when they getting obsessed with something they like. They will make sure everyone in their group will know what new show/book/character ect. they started liking.
- Aquarius placements are the type of people who love anything that has to do with universe, planets ect. (Some of them people I know they follow on Instagram space accounts or nasa)
- Capricorn mars are workaholic…they always do things right to get where they want. (A placement that I kinda wish i had) "money money money must be funny in the rich man’s world"
- It’s from my personal observation but we tend to connect mostly with singers that have the same moon sign as we do. Maybe I’m the only one but from day 1 I loved they way Ariana grande was expressing her emotions through music and then I released we both have libra moon. So next time check the moon sign of ur fave artist 🤌🏻 (it’s my showing that I’m a big Ariana girly)
- Scorpio Venus people are my favourite cause they like you a lot and they know it but you don’t know it. They will not let you go and if they do they will return back to you no matter what. They will know everything about you and ask a lot about you. They will care about your opinions (when they really don’t care about others). They will share the darkest secrets with you, they personal/family traumas. They are consumed by your existence. (if they have Sagittarius placements maybe they will pretend not care at the same time so you might think u are just friends)
- speaking of Venus…if you are a Scorpio pliz find a Pisces Venus for you. Like insane connection. Soulmate energy and both consumed by each other. (My personal fave duo)
- Gemini Venus need to be studied cause they rush into love and at the same time they can’t settle. (Girly pops maybe decide for once but men are the worst)
- cancer mercury is more dramatic than a Leo but they don’t show it that easily.
- they say don’t date someone who has the same moon sign as you…but I disagree. You will be the same page and react the same way. Understanding from both sides. ( my ex bestie has libra moon and we understood each other so well). Maybe date or hang out with people that have the same moon as you.
- Sagittarius mercury/Venus flirts for joke but they do it so well that you fall for them and then they have to run away from you.
That’s all💙
Here is my masterlist
Thank you for reading my blog so far. Really grateful about that 🫶🏻 and sorry if I do spelling mistakes but I’m not Native American speaker so I try my best. Stay hydrated and healthy 💙

Astro observations 6 💛
Written by @twinkle-with-stars
Helloo, everyone I'm posting no. 6....❊
Disclaimer: This is written on basis of my learning and observations of astrology, they may or may not reasonate with you. Do not steal or reword my work. None of the pictures or gifs used are mine.
Tumblr media
🍹saturn in 10th gives an individual immense power, people for no reason somehow feel obliged to this person.the aura it self is powerful.
But if the saturn is in retrograde this person isn't considered powerful or treated like an authority even when they hold a position of authority they build a reputation of being slow and weak, someone who isn't aware of their own power and people don't want them to realise their power either.
🍹scorpio rising in the composite gives a connection where two people know eachother's deepest secrets and wounds for the better or worse.
🍹venus-moon people can't really enjoy romance if they don't have a feeling that it will last forever or is permanent or simply if the relationship or the other person doesn't make them feel secure or give commitment they just don't like it especially hard aspects.
🍹minor aspects with tight orbs 1-2 will have a major effect on you. Like a semisqaure as tight as 1 will work pretty much as a square.
🍹usually people who are sexually interested in you will have the opposite sign of your mars as their mars.
For example an Aqua mars might attract leo mars.
🍹mars in 12th overlay in synastry is an indicator of meeting or dating online since here, it is a bit touch deprived for some reason here you are not seen but felt.
🍹the placement of pisces in your chart can tell what you like to express through your art.
For example-
Pisces in 8th- will express taboo, sexy, hidden things through their art and their art also holds a hidden meaning that you have to decode.
🍹sun in 4th might be more close to their father side of family or didn't get to meet/bond with mother side of family.
🍹your moon sign could tell you about your periods.how bareable they are!
Ex- A cap moon might have a hard time with cramps and periods even less flow.
🍹mercury-mars as student often like to read and learn but whatever they're learning is often totally different and not at all connected to what their actual course is.
🍹MC at 26° is an indication of accumulating alot of wealth through working with music.
🍹neptune in 6th people can't survive daily boring, reptative life without music, like they're 24/7 listening to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🍹mercury dominant people have bright and glassy eyes, that look soo curious.
🍹leo risings for some reason are born in big families, like lots of people are around them, their. Families just have this royal, traditional, classic vibe to it.
🍹mars in 6th people suffer alot because of stomach problems.
🍹not just pisces but Gemini placements like to day dream alot, they're the ones who can create scenarios in their heads easily.
🍹libra risings with alot of Scorpio placements often attracts stalkers, Idk why tho. But the people I know with these placements often have some crazy stalkers.
🍹never have I ever seen an Aries moon that isn't a go getter, these people have so much drive and motivation but only when it generates from their emotions, they're like, "oh you said I can't win that proze, just watch it's already mine" Kinda mentality.
🍹mercury in 2nd people should practice speaking their mind as it will be helpful to them and not just keep it all inside.
🍹I've noticed people with venus-uranus many times tend to find love online or they just find social media easier to connect with people than in real life.
🍹cancer mars just can't make sexual relationships without being emotionally attached especially man, they're definitely the ones who are caring but also they wanna posses you as much as a scorpio mars does.
🍹mars-venus harsh aspects as the best example of how to make selfish look sexy, they're just soo good at it, it's not like they're trying to be selfish but whenever they do things for themselves they just come off as sexy.......
🍹idk why but leo placements just love the IT girl shows, like winx club and Hannah Montana, kinda enjoys dressing like that too.
🍹water moons are quite intuitive, all the water moon la that I've ever met always seem to follow their emotions and that often proves to be right for them, I love your intuition all of you<3.
Tumblr media
I tried a new picnic kinda aesthetic with this post let me know how it looks, I wanna improve these plus I've posted this after quite sometime feel free to like, reblog and share your opinions or experiences with these, I'd love to hear🤗

questions i have for the signs
libra suns – do you learn a lot from observing other people’s behaviours? because libras do so well in group settings, and they value their emotional intelligence and ability for being likeable a lot. once, a libra sun man came up to me and just told me that he learned a lot of his behaviours from observing others and that’s how he learned better coping mechanisms/better ways of expressing himself and his emotions. at first, i found that absolutely preposterous because as someone who’s always focused so much on my own individuality and authenticity, the thought of taking aspects from other people just repulsed me, but the more i think about it, the more it makes sense – after all, there’s so much to learn from others and since observational skills are so important, why not use them to better ourselves?
also, to my libra suns once again – how the hell have you managed to build a reputation for being stable and peaceful? i swear every libra i’ve ever met was absolutely unstable – the type to throw their phones on the wall during arguments, to randomly go up to me and start psychoanalysing me, to immediately go confrontational mode no matter if they were in the middle of class, simply because they couldn’t leave shit unresolved. i’ve noticed your tendency for playing devil’s advocate in every situation in the name of “fairness” has you being VERY confrontational. it’s kinda refreshing not gonna lie.
now, ladies.. have we noticed how misogynistic cancer sun men can be or am i losing my mind? i swear to god i’ve never met ONE in my life who didn’t have extremely sexist opinions. even the ones who seem like great people and who get along with everybody – they still think that girls who sleep around casually have no self-respect and that sex workers are disgusting. also, hating on girls for doing the buss it challenge and for posting pictures where they’re showing skin and feeling themselves? saying they’re sluts? as if they’re not the same men who click on those videos? not only the misogynist part, but also extreme anger issues that come out at the most unexpected times. i believe it’s their traditionalist views and their hatred for their own femininity that has them projecting their insecurities onto other women. either way, cancer men terrify me. perhaps it’s that my father’s a cancer and he’s the blueprint of all terrible men in my life, or perhaps cancer men really are batshit crazy. either way, please change my mind lol there are probably some good ones out there but my experience has me believing otherwise
pisces mars – (18+) do you get pleasure from simply pleasuring your partner? i do this and i feel like it’s to a point where it’s toxic, every time i’m the one receiving i’ll be thinking about how i could be using this time to pleasure them instead, even if it feels really good. i don’t know what it is but the act of knowing i’m making someone feel good feels 1000 times better than everything else, it feels my soul and i think it’s a pisces mars thing. it’s crazy because it’s only in sexual matters, in day-to-day basis i’m very assertive but in bed i’m extremely submissive and just want to fulfil all of my partner’s needs. do you also have very intricate sexual fantasies that you’re constantly thinking about? also, are you masoquistic? i’ve seen other pisces mars talking about this, about how they get off on pain a lot and it makes me feel less alone. it might also relate to lilith in the 12th house because it indicates mixing pain with pleasure + escapism through fantasies + some very extreme fetishes like r*pe-play. let’s start this discussion lol
leo placements – how does it feel like being the baddest bitches alive? serious answers only. also stop making me fall in love with you it’s annoying
capricorn/scorpio suns, do you gravitate a lot towards one another? im a capricorn and i attract a lot of scorpio placements, and scorpios are the people who bring me the most intense personal transformations. it’s also definitely because i have scorpio in the 8th, but either way, i feel like these two signs attract each other like crazy because they’re the darkest signs. scorpio simbolizes death while capricorn simbolizes the devil, they’re both so difficult, complex and drawn to dark topics that i feel like it’s a match made in heaven – or hell. i’ve also observed that the most powerful power-couples in media are always relationships between capricorns and scorpios, too.
moon in the 10th house natives – do people baby you a lot? i feel like i’ll just be walking down the streets and my friends will be screaming at me to be careful like i’m a 5 year old, or offering to do things for me, or feeling an inherent need to supervise me as if i’ll get in deep shit if i’m left alone for more than 5 minutes LOL but i do think it’s something about this placement. moon in the 10th indicates being very emotional and getting easily overwhelmed, also a lot of charisma and being very sensitive when it comes to personal relationships. also the way we radiate authority makes others unconsciously be more obedient towards our needs, and we have a very strong need to protect others and create a family within our friend groups, which might be creating these dynamics.
leo suns/moons/risings – do you feel like having a low self-esteem quite literally contributes to the deterioration of your physical health? i think there’s such a stark difference between when you’re feeling insecure and in an unhealthy relationship vs when you leave the toxicity behind and work on your self-confidence, there’s an immediate glow up, like you’re literally glowing and it shows.
gemini suns – why do so many people hate you? even people who know nothing about astrology will say they hate geminis. genuine question because geminis are one of my favorite signs. i think it’s something about the way you easily adapt to other people’s personalities and mirror their energy, so you’ve built this reputation for being two-faced when you’re literally just.. socially intelligent.
air moons – how tf can you turn your emotions off? what do you mean using logic instead of feelings i will literally unalive myself
capricorn moons – how does it feel like having healthy coping mechanisms? oh wait, it’s not like you’d know LMFAOOOO
scorpio mars – are you as sexual as people portray you to be or do you feel a bit weird about the way people talk about you? because people always talk about scorpio mars as this sex machines, but like.. scorpio’s a water sign. very sensitive. i’ve noticed you guys literally avoid having sex with people because it’s like giving them a part of your soul, and you know you’ll get extremely attached to them afterwards. is sex a casual thing for you or can you only feel satisfied when there’s an emotional connection established? this goes for all water sign mars by the way.
scorpio risings – do you only listen to music that you feel has a deep meaning? my brother is a scorpio rising and he prides himself a lot on his music taste and how deep the music he listens to is. and as an aries rising im just like.. sir i listen to doja cat because hearing her sing about sex and fat tiddies makes me happy

Mini astrology observations
Hello~ I always enjoyed reading these so I thought I would make one :)
I noticed that people with taurus mars tend to sleep a lot
A mix of libra and scorpio in someone’s chart (especially a man’s chart) makes them extremely charming and magnetising. They probably have a lot of suitors and know how to flirt. For example; Leonardo DiCaprio and Park Jimin
Pisces placements have a slightly melancholy vibe to them
People with gemini moons have the cutest smiles!! Even if they look intimidating at first
Aquarian men can easily come off as fuckboys even if they are not
Again, I hate that “air moons / placements have no emotions” stereotype, however, I did notice that people with air moons / prominent air in their chart do like to look and observe their emotions and analyze them
Aries mercuries do not back down from an argument even if they are losing
It is true that people with 8th house placements have some connection to death, even if they haven’t experienced death around them they are probably interested in the topic
Cancer moon can be very nurturing but also stone cold. Don’t play them
Virgo placements have a hard time admitting they are wrong. Mainly because they really think about their actions and decisions
Plutonic synastry can embed itself into the minds of the people involved. Meaning, you and the other person cannot forget each other even if you are far away and have no contact
This synastry also makes the people involved dangerously obsessed and infatuated with each other. It is like their soul went crazy, they just have this unbearable desire for each other in ways that cannot be explained

💕Rising Sign Observations💕
Observations about the rising signs from the eyes of a Scorpio Rising watching you all from the corner with x-ray vision O_o... jk xD
🔥ARIES risings tend to embody this energy of being both slightly distant, slightly somewhere else, yet simultaneously very on edge and physically responsive to their surroundings. They can be very caring but their attention span isn’t very long so their sympathies can be kinda blunt in nature. They are not afraid of being in opposition with anyone (Aries/Mars being the God of War) so when they disagree with something you said or did, you will FEEL it especially if you’re a Water sign... they won’t make the effort to hide their facial expression, or posture or anything of that nature. Sun is exalted in Aries (in Vedic astrology), so everything shines through.
🌱TAURUS risings are very generous and giving, and it tends to be because they don’t want to get wrapped out in the complicated nature of 8th house stuff. They’d rather give to everyone and show their cards than find themselves feeling in debt to others, or like people are angry with them or anything. Of course out of the kindness of their Venusian hearts as well, but also just for peace.
🕊️GEMINI (I’m using a Dove because they are messengers just like Gemini) risings are super playful and easy to get along with, they make you feel comfortable and at home in conversation like you’ve known each other for years. The thing is, then you’ll see them talk the same way to someone else and some people, especially water signs will see this as a betrayal when they don’t mean to hurt anyone, they are just natural social 🦋s and want to extend the same kindness and communication to everyone. I’d imagine that the Geminis in question would be Rohini Nakshatra in Vedic astrology, which is described by astrologers as ‘babylike’ and wanting to experience bliss all the time much like babies do.
🦀CANCER risings, I’ve noticed are super sweet and kind, but because of their extreme sensitivity and vulnerability tend to be very taken aback if you do anything to make them feel out of their comfort zone or like their safety has been threatened. As soon as you do that, they’ll forgive you, but they will deem you as someone who they should be wary around- and of course they’ll bottle up their emotions about it. They forgive, but they also collect all of the things that have happened and emotionally hold onto them.
👑LEO risings I’ve noticed are very in their regal energy and confidence all the time not really taking things too seriously and more focused on just living an awesome life, but when personal things or things related to family or the heart come up even slightly, they get VERY fierce and something in them just seems to rise from within them. I’d guess it’s because the majority of the time, a Leo rising will have fierce, loving, protective and loyal Scorpio in the 4th house of home, family, and the heart space.
.🌿VIRGO risings have such a distinct energy! There’s something about them that you can’t miss- could relate to how in Vedic, most of the Virgo risings will be Leos. They have such a quiet authority and power and can be very dainty in their mannerisms and everything. They suppress their voice a lot and don’t speak up so that they don’t ‘make any mess’ socially or emotionally, and can be really hard on themselves in that way.
🌸LIBRA risings I’ve noticed, can be very cynical but very motivated to move forward nonetheless especially because they’d never want to let anybody else down. I think this also relates to how in Vedic, the Libras are mostly Virgos. They can be very picky about aesthetics especially! Libra risings are also often very quiet, but I think this one depends. The misalignment with Libra & Scorpio is a big reason why I stick with Vedic often too- Libras in western often don’t embody balance so much as the embody the pickiness of Virgo, and Scorpios in Western are often very artistic, relationship oriented, and scared to ‘tip the scales’ more like Libra... then Sagittarians are often very deep and tend to have troubled pasts and demons more like Scorpio. It’s not that Western placements are untrue, but my theory is that Western is showing us the physical world since it is showing us the sky as it is from Earth, but Vedic is showing us the non-physical. Sorry Libra, you got the rant xD
🔮SCORPIO risings- like maself- are very very almost dangerously deep thinkers. The thing is, having a Scorpio Sun or Moon can make you very deep thinking too, but the thing about Scorpio rising is that this mode of deep thinking is initiated in their IMMEDIATE, environment, because that’s what the rising sign is about. They don’t have to get emotional to do this, and don’t have this inner fire to pursue deep thinking like Scorpio Sun would, they just do immediately and instinctively and it can be very crazy making for us. We can zone out at the grocery store thinking about something super dark or something dark that happened from the past and really get trapped in our own bubble there. A lot of the Scorpio risings who relate to that are probably Swati in Vedic astrology- Swati struggles with this because Swati is the ultimate middle Nakshatra, so it is always attuned to the hidden world and ‘space inbetween’.
💕SAGITTARIUS risings (heart emoji because I think Sagittarius risings need love, especially if you’re Jyeshta in Vedic) tend to be very secretive. They will do the ‘normal stuff’ like go to school/work, do normal every day stuff but they’ll often not fully divulge what’s going on emotionally (which is why to me it makes sense that Sagittarius becomes Scorpio in most cases in Vedic). I’ve noticed Sagittarius risings often don’t show up to social events either for mysterious reasons- they won’t really explain why or it’ll seem mysterious in nature but they won’t show up, and people tend to miss them/worry about them because of it.
✨CAPRICORN risings... okay hear me out, I have observed that they are quite adventurous, but in a very refined way. They aren’t all over the place trying to travel and try new things and be cray like the stereotype of Sagittarius, but they are wanting to try new things in a very sophisticated and planned out way. They are often super creative but their creativity always has purpose- like making a bookmark to use for the book they’re reading, or doing an artwork with the clear intention of giving it to someone, or putting it in a certain place on the wall they want to fill. Always with earthy, rich purpose.
🌟AQUARIUS risings, I’ve noticed are really good at knowing how to get a rise out of people and also knowing EXACTLY how people are going to react to what they’ll say or do. They are comfortable saying controversial things and speaking up about their opinions partially for this reason- if they already have the social and emotional awareness to know how people will react to their behaviour, they don’t have to be afraid of anything that comes their way as far as backlash goes because they already anticipated it! Smart cookies O_o
💫PISCES risings - aww man, I love you guys  💕 I’ve noticed a lot of Pisces risings tend to feel like outcasts in this world. They can feel very isolated and alienated and the infamous ‘charming awkwardness’ Pisces can have definitely comes from this feeling of being the ‘local weirdo’ lol. Pisces risings are amazing at bringing ideas to life as well, if they have an idea, they can explain it to you to a degree that they can make you feel like you BOTH had that idea and both have an emotional connection to it. Definitely relating to how Pisces will often become Aquarius in Vedic.
So that’s the end of my post on my observations about the Rising signs 💕 Subscribe to my YT Channel for videos on Astrology :)

Bbrae week day 3 Starry Nights
(A/N I am an astrology hoe and that is the entire basis for this fanfiction. This is based on Gar’s actual birth chart based on his canon birthday. I can reveal his whole chart later and explain what it means if there’s interest. Also enjoy the brief lesson on astrology.)
“I don’t care what you have to say about that, Gar. I refuse to believe you,”
Garfield trailed behind Raven on the way to her room several paces in front of him, “What did I even say that was so unbelievable?”
Raven scoffed and turned to him so sharply that he almost ran into her, “There is no way in all the nine circles of hell, that you are a scorpio.”
Gar threw up his hands in frustration and confusion, “What?! Yes I am! Why is that such an incredible thing to you?”
“Because Beast Boy, I’m a scorpio. A scorpio, you are not. You have to be mistaken, when’s your birthday?”
“November 12th.”
Raven’s eyebrows shot up in disbelief. “Are you sure?”
“About my own birthday?” Gar scoffed, “Yeah Rae, I’m pretty sure.”
“OK, so you are a scorpio...you sure don’t act like it...what’s your moon sign?”
“My what?”
Raven sighed, “We’re just gonna have to do your whole birth chart, I need to get to the bottom of this. You have to have Aries or Leo or something in your big six or else you’re just a total enigma.”
“You just said a whole lot of words that make absolutely no sense to me, but whatever you say Raven.”
Raven continued her brisk pace to her room while Gar stared after her, she instinctively punched in the code and stood in the open doorway turning to look back at Gar.
“Gar, come on.”
The changeling balked at the sudden invitation, “You’re room? As in, YOU’RE room?”
“All of my books on astrology are in here and there’s too many to bring out in the common area, so you might as well come in, but DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING!”
“Oh trust me, after accidentally being sucked into your mind a few years ago, I’m too scared to,” he said, stiffly entering the room and taking a tentative seat on the floor.
After a short interview about the year, time and place of his birth, Raven got to work sketching out a circle with several connecting lines and symbols that seemed to mean something to her.
Gar looked over her shoulder in curiosity as his warm breath grazed her cheek. Raven shuddered at the sudden intimacy of the moment but Gar was too transfixed on Raven’s work to notice.
“So what is that?”
Raven continued sketching without looking up, “It’s your birth chart, essentially it’s a map of the stars and planets and where they were at the time of your birth.”
“Ah, right, makes sense. You really take this astrology stuff pretty seriously huh?”
“I have to,” Raven said, connecting another line in the circle.
“How come?”
“How do you think they foretold the prophecy?”
“So wait, your birth chart is just…”
“It shows who you are and what is going to happen in your lifetime, but foretelling the future through astrology means getting into the houses and I don’t have enough training in that area to give you accurate predictions.”
“So if not to tell the future then why are we doing this?”
“To figure you out, and why you are the way you are.”
The tone in the room shifted and Gar's mouth spread wide in a mischievous grin. He leaned forward, and whispered in Raven’s ear, his hot breath tickling her neck, “And why do you want to figure me out so badly?”
Raven dropped the pen in her hand as her face went crimson and goosebumps appeared all over her body. With a shaky hand, she palmed the changeling’s face and effectively pushed him away from her, knocking him back on his butt. “Cut it out! I’m trying to work!” her voice cracked.
Raven picked up the pen and finished the last few lines of the chart and stood back to admire her work.
“Ok that makes a little more sense, but also raises many more questions.”
Gar looked back over her shoulder, the chart still not making any sense to him, and then leaned back resting on his elbows. “Alright then, lay it on me mama. Explain me to me.”
Raven glared at the man on her floor, How many times have I told you not to call me that?” Raven rolled her eyes knowing it was a lost cause. “I’m just going to explain your big six to you, these are the most powerful planets in your chart and sort of explain your personality.”
Raven cracked open one of her astrology books to reference and began,
“Starting with your ascendent sign, also known as your rising sign, this dictates how you present yourself to the world. Your rising sign is in Aries is in which makes much more sense for you.”
“What does that mean?”
“Aries is considered the child of the zodiac, explaining why you come off as so immature.”
“Hey! I’m not that immature” sticking his tongue out in Raven’s direction.
Raven cocked an eyebrow at the changeling, “Only further proving my point…next is your sun in scorpio. Your sun sign is the lens through which you see the world, so you see the world as a scorpio. Scorpio’s are known for being secretive, they tend to come with a lot of trauma and um...a high sex drive…” Raven’s face colored at the last statement.
Gar smirked flirtatiously , “Hey Rae, didn’t you say you were also a scorpio?”
Raven’s voice cracked again, as she continued, “MOving on to your moon in sagittarius…”
Gar rolled his eyes and rested his cheek on his fist, she was taking all the fun out of his game.
“The moon marks emotions and one’s true self, who you are way deep down. Your moon being in sagittarius means you’re a natural optimist, probably outdoorsy, but irresponsible.”
“Yeah that sounds about right for me.”
“Next is your mercury, which marks communication skills. Your mercury is also in scorpio..”
“Which means I talk sexy too!”
Raven rolled her eyes in annoyance, “Can you get off the sex thing?” she grumbled.
“Trust me Rae, there’s nothing more I’d like to do right now than get off.”
Raven pinched the bridge of her nose, she was really starting to regret inviting him into her room.
“Mercury in Scorpio, means you’re more observant than you make it seem, and people tend to come to you to talk about their problems, also you love to talk...and talk and talk..” She grumbled.
“What is this, the roast of Garfield Logan?”
“That’s essentially what a birth chart reading is. Next is your venus, that marks how you love or what kind of partner you would be in a relationshi-” Raven paused looking at his venus on his birth chart.
“What’s wrong? Does it say I suck as a boyfriend?”
“No actually, quite the opposite. You have one of the best placements for your venus. Your Venus is in libra. Um, that means you’d essentially make a really great boyfriend.”
Gar wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at Raven, “I don’t know Rae, the stars don't lie..”
“Are you trying to get kicked out?” Raven glowered.
“No ma’am, I’ll behave!” Beast Boy looked up at her sheepishly.
“Ok, last but not least, we have your mars also being in Aries. Mars marks desire for action and physical energy.”
Raven looked at him expectantly but Garfield had bit his lip to keep whatever disgusting remark he had inside his head. ‘So he can learn,’ Raven thought to herself.
“Good boy” Raven praised him for his restraint.
It was now his turn to blush, “Listen, I’m not gonna be able to hold my remarks back if you’re going to sit here and turn me on!”
Raven rubbed her temples in annoyance, “and you were doing so well, too…your mars in Aries means you’re impulsive, you get mad quickly but you also get over it quickly, and you’re very energetic.”
Gar quietly grumbled more sexual innuendo to himself and Raven had just about enough.
“Alright, get out. I should’ve never brought you in here, you’re driving me crazy.”
Gar lazily stretched and got up seeing himself out of Raven’s room, he paused at the open doorway and turned to his teammate.
“I don’t know Rae, all I heard was that I’d be great at sex and make a great boyfriend,” he lightly booped her on the nose, “So that’s just something for you to think about,” he said with a wink.
“GET OUT!” Raven’s eyes went red with her anger as the changeling scurried away.
Raven’s door slid shut with a hiss as she threw her astrology book in a huff as color flooded her face a third time. She hated when he was right.

Can someone please explain why the trio didn't take divination class seriously??
Firstly, they go to a magic school. Harry and Hermione had no clue that magic ever existed until they were 11 and someone was like, "You can actually do magic and we're taking you to magic school so you know how to control it." And they both were like, "Bet." And just went with it.
They are taught magical theory, transfiguration, potions, defense, charms, flying, etc. And the one subject they thought would be a throw away class was divinations? Really? I mean, Ron and Harry continued to take it because it was an "easy A" I guess.
But divination got shit on the entire time, even when we find out Trelawney was the one that channeled The Prophecy to Dumbledore. McGonagall shit on the subject, and Dumbledore admitted to thinking about cancelling the subject altogether until Trelawney's interview. Even then, Trelawney is constantly described as crazy. Like, shouldn't she be revered as a powerful witch, or at least be credited for revealing who was going to save the world?
Anyway...
Hermione, the supposed brightest witch of her age, believed in every other subject at Hogwarts, EXCEPT divinations. And it solely comes down to her personal morals and ignorance. Divination is actually one of the most powerful subjects to master. And it combines many subjects in one: potions, herbology, dada (wandless magic/Legilimency), astrology, history of magic, ancient runes, and probably others. She is immediately turned off by the idea of learning divinations because Trelawney tells her that she's not good at it during their first lesson. I firmly believe that if she stuck with it and gave it an honest chance, Hermione would've been one of the best in the class by the end of third year.
But no, she chose to... use a time turner so she can literally time jump and know the outcome of some evens and prevent the worst from happening. Idk, man... That sounds like you found a way to cheat in divinations lol. And McGonagall straight-up helped you because she is also not a divinations stan.
Ron was fairly good at it because he actually ironically allowed himself to open up to the possibility. He'd make jokes and stuff, but he wasn't afraid of the magic part of metaphysics, even if he wasn't aware of it.
And I cannot stress enough how Harry is actually very naturally gifted in divinations. Trelawney saw it and told him many times, along with the whole impending death thing. But again, Harry thought her personality was coo-coo bananas, so he would just roll his eyes and basically say, "yeah, what else is new?"
Like, hello?!
Harry acknowledges that she is correct, but still acts like she doesn't know what she's talking about? Not to mention Harry's dreams are always in reference to his current situations, fears, desires, and future. And added bonus: he has the Voldy connection. You can't tell me that Trelawney wouldn't wanna sit in on Harry and Dumbledore's meetings about the connection and just fucking observe and eventually write a book on two-way astral projection and telekinetic possession! Don't get me started on how she could've helped with the horcrux hunt...
Getting back on track, centaurs are also known for being extremely intuitive and look to the sky for guidance. Firenze was hired as the replacement divination teacher when Trelawney was fired, and if I remember, he was doubted a bit too. Not as much as my girl Sybill, but still. Students respected Firenze because divinations was part of his culture. But, like, it is also part of human culture too, so idk. Inconsistencies are a bitch. (So is the blatant racism, but I digress...)
Honestly, I think divinations would've been taken more seriously if Trelawney was credited as a legit Seer. Like, the Ministry and Dumbledore could've just given her legitimacy because of a prophesy. Instead she had to rely on her lineage. According to [terf redacted], Trelawney was considered "washed up" by the time she was hired at Hogwarts and she relied heavily on alcohol to open up more. She was considered 99% fraud, but, like, if people gave her a chance, she wouldn't have to lie to get their attention. (Also one could argue that they weren't lies at all.) Because others didn't believe her, she ended up not believing in herself.
In conclusion, divinations was heavily used in the books without the trio knowing it. I just wish they took it seriously.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Libra Compatibility - The Best and Worst Match
New Post has been published on https://www.astrology-india.com/libra-compatibility/
Libra Compatibility - The Best and Worst Match
Libra natives are peaceful, diplomatic, and sociable.
These individuals are fascinated by symmetry and they are interested in creating a world of justice and equality.
Besides, their urge for balance operates on an aesthetic level.
Libra Suns have an innate sense of style and are inclined to look for refined experiences and objects in their everyday life.
Getting information about Libra compatibility could be useful if you are interested in sustaining a healthy connection.
Whether Libra is your Sun sign or the sign of your crush, this article will help you get facts that will be useful for navigating the challenges of relationships.
Remember, though, that Astrology is not limited to the Sun sign.
You should consult with a professional astrologer to acquire an in-depth report of the compatibility between two people.
Sun signs only offer a general idea about compatibility.
Best Libra Compatibility Matches
The Sun signs that are the best matches for Libra have to share some common traits with the graceful nature of this cardinal airy sign. Read on, to know more about them.
Libra and Gemini
Gemini and Libra are both air signs. This means that they would have an entertaining mental connection and a witty verbal understanding.
Gemini and Libra enjoy sharing their ideas about every-thing and participating in cultural events that will make them learn something new and meet stimulating people.
Libra Suns love to entertain their acquaintances and Gemini Suns are also very social.
This couple is great at hosting parties and inviting friends to their home.
Since they both love talking and being the center of attention, they will make jokes and observations like they were stand-up comedians in their own Netflix special.
The spontaneous nature of the Gemini Suns could be really beneficial for the perfectionist Libra Suns.
On the other hand, Libra Suns can help their Gemini partners to tidy up their scattered thoughts in order to express them more cohesively.
They can complement each other beautifully when they are capable of appreciating their unique mindsets.
This almost-perfect match may hit a snag if they do not show their vulnerable side.
These two Sun signs have a bit of a reputation for being superficial.
They need to learn how to vent their feelings and to accept that life is not always fun, entertaining, and light.
Libra and Aquarius
There is a strong bond between an Aquarius Sun and a Libra Sun.
They share the element of air and appreciate mental stimulation.
Since both signs rely heavily on communication, they will enjoy talking with each other and will find the right words to solve all of their issues.
Libra is a sign who does not want to be alone. Aquarius, on the other hand, likes solitude and needs some space to feed its individuality.
The Libra partner could seem clingy, whereas the Aquarius partner might seem detached.
Luckily, meeting halfway and finding some common ground is possible and it will guarantee that they will be able to overcome their differences.
Marriage is considered very meaningful for Libra Suns. For Aquarius Suns, it may seem to be an obsolete institution.
But they will settle down for the right partner and a Libra Sun may have the specific qualities that an Aquarius Sun needs to feel comfortable and amused at the same time.
It is important for both Libra and Aquarius Suns to move slowly and make the decision to tie the knot when they are certain that the relationship is going to be beneficial in the long run.
Libra and Leo
Leo Sun values pride and beauty. And a Libra Sun enjoys pleasing other people with their attractive and elegant demeanor.
Together, they may learn how to express themselves unapologetically and how to strengthen their talents.
They support each other’s personalities in a communicative and charming way.
The sextile between the Leo Sun and the Libra Sun makes it possible for them to have a respectful partnership and to build stronger personalities that are free of judgment of any kind.
This couple knows how to shine!
The elements of fire and air fit perfectly. Leo puts a passionate touch to every intelligent idea concocted by Libra. Their communication is quick, inspiring, and enthusiastic.
These two signs together represent the consummation of a loving relationship.
When you look at this couple, you will see that their devotion for one another is real, palpable and it has long-term potential.
When a Leo Sun and a Libra Sun are together, they will not engage in a relationship with no future.
Less Libra Compatibility Matches
Having mentioned the best matches for Libra Suns, the moment has arrived for taking a look at the less compatible ones.
Please remember that this Libra compatibility article is based only on the Sun sign.
Two people who possess Sun signs that are not traditionally compatible can still have a healthy relationship. The reason behind this is that compatibility goes beyond Sun signs.
There may be other astrological placements in the natal charts, as well as a desire of getting to know more about a partner, that could make a relationship work and be long-lasting.
Libra and Taurus
Even though both signs are ruled by Venus, Taurus and Libra couldn’t be more different.
Taurus is a fixed and earthy sign that enjoys life when it’s predictable and stable.
Libra, on the other hand, needs to start new projects all the time and to socialize with new people.
These two signs will drive each other crazy in a committed relationship.
While the Taurus Sun may be stubborn and fixated on their old ideas, the Libra Sun may be indecisive and always interested in seeing life from a variety of perspectives.
The Taurus Sun wants to keep things under control and the Libra Sun wants to push the envelope constantly.
Insecurity may be another issue in this couple.
The Libra Sun could criticize their Taurus Sun partner as a way of projecting their own fears of not being good enough.
But the Taurus Sun will not understand this unconscious mechanism and will take the criticism very personally.
Then, the Taurus Suns could experience sudden bursts of anger because they are not able to channel their emotions constructively. And Libra Suns will go away because they can’t stand rudeness.
Libra and Virgo
A relationship between a Virgo Sun and a Libra Sun doesn’t look like a good match.
Virgo is an earth sign and is ruled by Mercury. This means that it relies on tangible results.
Libra is an airy sign ruled by Venus and couldn’t be more distant from Virgo’s pragmatic nature.
Libra craves beauty and art and can be very vacillating when making a decision.
As soon as one of them has to articulate a concern or a deep feeling, the other one seems to freeze and to lose the ability for showing empathy or compassion.
These two signs are not known for having the skill to connect with their emotions and display them honestly.
The mental attraction that they may experience interferes with showing love and with providing comfort at disturbing times.
Virgo wants to optimize processes and improve existing systems. Therefore, people born under this sign will take over the decisions that the Libra Suns need to make.
The Libra Suns will feel inferior and will stop respecting their Virgo Sun partner. While Libra Suns don’t tolerate the absence of kindness, Virgo Suns can’t accept ambivalence.
Libra and Scorpio
The value system of a Scorpio Sun is remarkably divergent from the value system of a Libra Sun.
Scorpio is not afraid of facing the darkest aspects of the human condition. Libra, on the other extreme, is devoted to niceties.
A Libra Sun may perceive that a Scorpio Sun goes the extra mile to be perceived as special and deep.
A Scorpio Sun may perceive that a Libra Sun compromises all the time just to fit in.
The main problem here is that a Libra Sun may be too concerned about other people’s opinions and a Scorpio Sun finds this concern superficial and shallow.
Libra Suns will have trouble understanding the inquisitive side of Scorpio, as much as Scorpio Suns won’t be able to understand the accommodating nature of their Libra partners.
Their differences could be impossible to reconcile. However, they may have an incredibly intense and demanding sexual life.
Obsession and possessiveness are two possible manifestations when they are in the bedroom.
They could create profound ties through their physical contact, but everything else in the relationship could make them feel unsatisfied and unappreciated.
Libra Man
The Libra man is gentle, tactful, and smart. He has great manners and dedicates a lot of time to improve his appearance.
On the downside, he could have high standards in a partnership and this will be reflected in the way he treats his significant other.
The Libra man could not-so-subtly make suggestions to his partner about clothing and modals.
When he is in a committed relationship, he loves taking his significant other to fancy restaurants, art galleries, and big concerts.
He wants to dress up for special occasions and display a spotless image. And he wants his partner to act in the same when they are together in public.
This man enjoys compliments about the way he looks and how smart he is.
He likes being cherished and caressed in public, but he may have a hard time showing affection when surrounded by strangers.
Libra Man Relationship Compatibility
The signs that are most compatible with having a relationship with a Libra man are Leo and Sagittarius.
Having a relationship with one of these fire signs is beneficial for the Libra man because his partner will make him feel appreciated.
If you are dating a Libra man but you are having trouble deciphering his true feelings for you then I recommend you read our article on Libra man in love to help guide you.
Libra Man Sexual Compatibility
If the Libra man wants to experience a satisfying sexual life, he has to choose partners with the Sun in Aries or Capricorn.
These two signs are also cardinal and will definitely know how to ignite the spark.
Libra Woman
The Libra woman is fair, loyal, and delicate. She will be prepared to make a lifetime commitment with a partner of her choosing.
However, she could be too focused on pleasing her significant other all the time and forget who she is as an individual.
Therefore, she can come across as someone who is calculating and fake.
Her need to be in a relationship is extremely strong and dating is never casual for her.
In extreme situations, this woman could be thinking about marriage after the first date!
She could be quite needy and dependent on her partner to make even the simplest decisions. But when she knows her worth, she can be adorable, enchanting, and attentive.
A confident Libra woman doesn’t go unnoticed.
Libra Woman Relationship Compatibility
The signs that are most compatible with a committed relationship with a Libra woman are Gemini and Aquarius.
Gemini and Aquarius are connected with Libra by trine. The relationship with one of these tactful airy signs will be fun and exciting.
Libra Woman Sexual Compatibility
Even if they will not work well together in a long-term relationship, having a sexual partner with the Sun in Taurus or in Scorpio will be a parade of lust for the Libra woman.
These two fixed signs are intense and possessive, two qualities that could be interesting to find in a sexual encounter.
Final Thoughts
Gracious and charismatic, the sons and daughters of Venus will definitely catch your attention. Their persuasive tactics and their classy style make them utterly mesmerizing.
Libra Suns are relationship-oriented and could be people-pleasers. But they also want to have a first-class partner.
They won’t settle for less than they deserve and they will not give up their social life to stay at home with a dull person.
This is why Libra compatibility with the other air signs is a good combination, as well as with fire signs. Air and fire are positive elements that want to have a vibrant and lively existence.
A long-term relationship with an earth or water sign may not be the best option for Libra Suns.
Earth and water are elements that belong to the negative polarity and their natives are much more reserved and quiet than a Libra Sun.
If this article didn’t quite answer your questions about Libra compatibility then I recommend you take a look at our article here to find your perfect love match according to astrology.

This spread is for a donor who’d like to remain anonymous!
Here’s the full Qabalistic Tree of Life Spread that I do and here you are. What I’m going to do is go through and briefly explain each card, its position on the Tree, and then I’ll give you a summary/synopsis of the spread as a whole. You know the routine.
Think of this spread as a sort of quantum map, or even the land of a regular map, everything is happening at once, in each place. It’s important to think of yourself as moving “through” the map but you are also simultaneously everywhere at once. For the sake of this specific experiment, think of this as a map. Maybe as a person, the Qabalistic Adam Kadmon.
Where we’re starting the journey from is Kether, the monad, the first sign of creation. We’ll call this your hometown, since it is where you’re from originally. Here we have XVIII The Moon, Pieces, Qoph.
This is the ‘Sun at midnight where you stand shines on the other side of the world’. The pull of night and day eventually rising illuminating what was once dark. As opposed to the old Aeon idea of the Sun dying, this is the cyclic motion of the push and pull of the day and night. The dark gives the light context and vis-a-versa.
See the light in the dark, accept the cyclic push and pull, if you don’t like what “time of day it is” in your life I assure you it will change like the tides.
In Chokmah, which is like your freeway getting you out onto the road out of  your hometown is the Knight of Cups, the fiery part of Water or acting on feeling.
Ideally this is the drive to seek higher connections and feelings and being driven by intuition and love. Just don’t fall
for illusions and false ideals. This is the love that brings you closer to connecting with everything, recognizing connection and it’s drive. This is the Arthurian tale of chasing the Holy Grail *Insert Monty Python joke here* simply to have a true connection to their god. Seek love like that.
Act on what you feel and truly intuit but only to the ends of unselfish almost worshipful Love. Do things that get you really really feeling.
In Binah, which is ruled by Saturn and for the sake of this reading we will call the first stop on your roadtrip. You haven’t really arrived anywhere but you’re stopping and getting a chance to repack your car in a more efficient way. Sitting in Binah is the 2 of Cups, Love.
Like all the 2s the deuces of Water is building towards completion. This is the ever becomingness of love. Love never dies, it is simply transformed like any other energy. Love isn’t a competition or something you can measure. You never stop loving someone/thing because you have “reached maximum love levels”, shake hands and walk away from it. There is no end-game to love and that’s why it’s scary and makes people act like idiots sometimes. Astrologically,   Venus in Cancer can be interpreted as nurturing your emotional growth.
Build on what you’re feeling and don’t try to think about anything too concretely emotionally or intuitively. This is a building process so try not to focus on the final outcome but work with what you have now.
In Chesed which is ruled by Jupiter and again for the sake of this experiment we’ll say involves your influence and benevolence in your current trip is the Princess of Cups, the earthy part of Water.
We could consider this the substance in water or water hitting substance head on. This is the idea of the canyon wall being ground down over the millennia by moving water. The nutrients and minerals in the earth are transported down river to the fertile delta. This is the natural, “following your feelings” within your daily life. Try not to fool yourself, follow your intuition, not just passing whims. Feel, don’t necessarily react immediately.
Go with what you feel and intuit, let yourself go with the flow, if you will. Allow your situation to move with your emotions and be patient with your progress.
Across the Tree in Geburah, which is Mars Town, where you find your drive and what you’re trying to accomplish/conquer is, well, everything kinda, XXI The Universe, Saturn, Tau.
The Universe is the totality of what we can sense and know. The dance of the Woman with the cosmic serpent and the Eye destroying while everything constantly recreates. We see the Universe only from our position in it. You may send out your satellites to explore unknown areas but you can only process what they might mean from your place. The more we try to take into our restrictive minds and spirits, the more we know about the whole and ourselves and our place in the Universe.
Step back and look at the connections and totality of everything you know and experience. It’s quite a view.
In Tiphareth, the Sun and center of gravity holding all this in place, the heart pumping the blood through this, your heart is a big same AKA 0 The Fool, Aleph, Air.
This is mathematical zero or total possibility. This is the desire to create one’s self into a form, the logos or word spoken that jump started creation. The beginning of a journey of discovery. Going outward from stasis to tangibility. Making a thing from no-thing
Since you are nought, coming from no-thing into some-thing everything is discovery, for better or for worse. Just get up, get out, and do something! What to do and the direction to take to get there aren’t on any map.
In Netzach, Venus town, where you have the realization about how this is going to change you as a person with a personality is the  Ace of Swords, the root power of Air or the mind.
This is the sword of the Magus and the magician’s Sword is the physical representation of our mind and it’s ability in its rawest state of being. Thelema is inscribed on the blade of the Sword in Greek because the Magus uses their mind to the end of their True Will. The Crown of light at the tip of the Sword is the illuminated mind, because in its singleness and sharpness it is the foundation of the mind, intellect, and communication powers.
Use your mind for what you need it to do. Remember that a sword is useless at best and dangerous at worst when it isn’t handled correctly. You can cut down an army with a sword, but you can also cut your whole-ass leg or arm off too with one too. Knowledge is dangerous and scary, be prepared.
In Mercury Town Hod-ville, where all the Universities are and everyone has real intellectual shit going on is the Queen of Swords, or how you feel about what you think and your reasoning.
Ideally, this Queen is the “caller out of bullshit.” She is watery (intuitive) enough to feel when a facade is being put up and airy (intelligent) enough to cut the shit and address the fakery. The difference between someone trying to take advantage of another and a person who accidentally causes misfortune is the intention of said individual. Don’t be fooled by kind wolves or rabid sheep.
She rests at her throne with the head or mask of a man and the sword of her mind she severed the head/mask with. Her expression is one of disinterest, she’s done this many times before and shall again and again. It is her nature.
Be aware of intentions, even  your own. Be wary of situations and people talking from behind masks they wish to use to obscure their true meaning. Especially be aware of yourself and your masks you hide behind.
On the Moon in Yesod, the receptive and reflective place that is alot about the feelings that you’re picking up from all this is friend of the blog, V The Hierophant, Vau, Taurus.
This is being initiated into how things work in the material or normal world. This is the secrets of how things are and some of that is being revealed to you. This is a person, institution, or experience that is telling you “trade secrets” or how to do what you do better. 5s are the human or microcosmic number and Taurus reiterates this material theme. Once you find out how to improve yourself and your understanding of the world, you must now go out and actually use that skill. Knowledge is useless if it is not implemented in the knower’s life and behavior.
Get initiated into the cult of your sphere of interest. Learn how to improve what you do through being initiated in one way or another. Find what/who helps you to learn the “secrets” of how to do your thing better and then go out and do those things.
Down here in Malkuth-istan, the everyday life mundane, waking up pooping, and going to work world is the always a riot, the 10 of Swords (mental and communicative) Ruin.
Astrologically, this is Sol the Sun or your center being split by the duality of Gemini or duplicity. This is like making a decision by not making one. Your intellect is collapsing in on itself due to building duality or otherness conflicting with how you think of you. This is being “of two minds” but they duo doesn’t seem to work together very well. The good news is that they’re damn near done working together at all. 10s are the highest number card or as intense as it gets.
Try to integrate your splitting and increasingly destructive thinking and/or communicating, make meaning out of this chaos. And hey, don’t worry, it’s peaked and now you have to slide down the mountain of crazy you just climbed.
So, Basically, it seems dark right now because you’re not focusing on your Light enough and to do that you’ll need to act from a place of Love, that ever moving towards that leaves us both vulnerable and strong, in the same, but different confusing ass ways.
Then, we get to the part where the freedom of nothing is tempered by the restriction of everything, garnished with the substance in emotion and connection. That is to say, your heart is longing for ultimate Freedom, while your actions and goals are focused on the “Big Picture” and you can temper these by recognizing that value in both positions and finding middle ground by observing and participating in the “motion of the ocean” or finding the strongest currents and using them to your advantage.
Your personal growth from all this comes from hitting the “reset” button on your mind. That tool of the Mind that allows us to communicate is a sharp tool (for you, not everyone, as this hellsite constantly reminds me) and should be treated with respect and awe. This “Meh-ness” of realization shouldn’t slow you don’t if you don’t let it. Instead of being overwhelmed or underwhelmed, just be whelmed and move on, because you’re about to encounter a wonderful teaching moment, if you allow it/them in.
And, I feel like I say this to you a fair amount: Don’t break your brain. You’ve got a lot on the ol’ noggin, too much, really. Just allow this bit to wash over, through, and then the fuck up out of you.
Ta Da! Hit me up with any questions, comments, concerns or Qabalistic queries!

Venus in Signs - Financial Astrology
Is there a relationship between your Venus sign and your financial health? We explore this potential connection. When your Venus sign is Aries The sign of Aries signifies leadership and individuality. Material values are not so important to you, but if there is a war ahead to win, you will do all manner of crazy things with an unbelievable ambition to acquire the necessary resources. Under normal circumstances, you care little about your money and frequently lend it out, and you generally suffer financial losses because of this. It is highly possible that you may put your money at great risk. Even when you’re earning good money, you should be careful when spending it. By this I mean you should be a little more careful yet still full of energy. You should avoid lending money to anyone but your closest friends. Fields where you could earn money most easily are those involving a leadership or management position. Instead of working for someone else, you could start your own company or work freelance, because this is a situation where your Venus can move freely. Your Venus sign is Taurus Taurus symbolizes owning things and increasing what you have. Material values are important to you, and you only feel safe when you have no financial problems. Even a single lost penny hurts you. You really know your money well, and you don’t exhibit any unnecessary charity. You have a weakness for luxury, because quality and comfort are paramount to you. You may take risks but only very rarely. For the Taurus Venus, the opportunities to increase material wealth come from investments. Instead of just protecting what you have, you try to grow it. You can earn money by working with anything solid in this world. You may be lucky with natural professions like landscaping, artistic activities, and especially jewel crafting. For example, Lakshmi Mittal, one of the richest people in the world, got to where he is by buying up small loss-making companies. Making small investments, such as on the stock markets (through medium-to-long-term investments), could agree with the symbolism of your Venus. Your Venus sign is Gemini Gemini represents communication. Your financial graphics are full of ups and downs, changing all the time. Your phone bills are usually larger than the average person’s. You easily spend money on communication, travel, books, and magazines, but you earn money by using your communication skills. Jobs involving the internet, advertising, and communication may be profitable for you. Unfortunately, you have the urge to spend money as quickly as you earn it, so Gemini Venus people don’t tend to join the world’s richest. You should learn to protect what you have, rather than spending to just enjoy the moment. Avoid spending your time on small sums, because the real problem is the larger amounts. The Gemini sign is known to be the most cunning in the Zodiac. Use your communication skills in whatever job you have. Another aspect of Gemini Venus is advertising. Whatever job you have, advertising is especially important for you, so you shouldn’t disregard it and always support it. You will generally become bored of jobs that don’t occupy your mind, so avoid wasting your time on anything with a monotone work life. For example, the great bard William Shakespeare was tremendously successful in communication and writing, just as his Gemini Venus indicated. Your Venus sign is Cancer Cancer symbolizes safety and tradition. Material resources are essential, because you believe everything should have a solid foundation with something put aside for the future. Even though you don’t hesitate to spend on your home and family, your desire to accumulate can make you appear miserly. You are the “hoarder” of the Zodiac. As common values can mean so much to you, though, you may buy things you don’t really want. To guarantee your financial situation, you should work for the public good. This is a real Cancer trait. When it comes to realizing the deficiencies and needs of the public, you are a pioneering leader, so use it. You don’t have to act traditionally, so you can take a different approach if you want. Becoming occupied with land and property is also a common characteristic of Cancer Venus. Whenever you own property, you should rest assured that your investments will benefit you. Napoleon was a Cancer Venus who answered the needs of the people. Donald Trump, meanwhile, became rich from real estate. At the same time, Cancer Venus is in conjunction with Saturn (a property symbol) in his chart. His career once resulted in bankruptcy (Cancer symbolism of ups and downs), but he later recovered. He is known as the man who restored the USA (or the architect of New York). His Venus Saturn conjunction is actually also in conjunction with Mercury at the eighth (change and transformation) house of the USA. Your Venus sign is fertile, as the old saying goes, so your financial situation will be full of ups and downs just like the Moon, your ruler. Mostly, however, you will enjoy an above-average position. Your Venus sign is Leo Leo symbolically means to shine. Leo Venus people seem to be born to be famous, even if they address just small crowds. They stand out with their mobility, social activity, charm, and charity. You value luxury and excess a lot, and even if you’re not wealthy, you take care on the clothes and fragrances you use, with many of your belongings coming from quality brands. You also leave generous tips. You feel like all eyes are upon you, with you being at the center of events, so you mostly spend time on making yourself look good. This is especially true when you’re in love, because for the Leo Venus, love means life and is something to cherish. The amount you spend may surprise others around you. Instead of spending so lavishly, you should try to save some of it. Don’t worry too much about what other people think about you, because expense doesn’t always reflect quality. When you’re in love, you should avoid making great gestures or giving lavish gifts, because it may lead to serious financial problems. There is also more that you should do. The Leo Venus is a showman, as we explained before. Whatever job you have, you should turn it into a form of visual entertainment for others. For example, some Leo Venus people like David Copperfield and Madonna became successful by not just being great at what they do but also by putting on a great show. Your Venus sign is Virgo The Virgo sign represents struggle and making something operational. Among rich people, the Virgo Venuses enjoy first place statistically. The Virgo Venus is known for making things operational and being able to work for others (e.g., for a salary or a commission) on a routine basis. The Virgo sign is therefore considered by many astrologers to be the sign of employees, accountants, and commission-based workers. Those who manage inventories for other people or invest other people’s money in a financial environment are often in this group. For you, having a stable income is more important than becoming rich. You believe that happiness comes from stability. You’re not extraordinary, different or creative (unless elements in your chart dictate otherwise of course). Your reward comes from your routine work, the projects you implement for others, and the compensation you receive for them. However, another symbolism of Virgo is the pain caused by other people or inflicted upon them, so you should understand that you’ll have many competitors in your field. For example, the first thing done by Rockefeller (a Virgo Venus and the richest man in history) was to destroy his competition. The greatest financial handicap of the Virgo Venus is believing that everything monetary will fit into the classic norms. (Note: According to my observations, they are typically the sign least interested in astrology, and because of this, many astrology critics carry this sign.) Struggling in a stable manner is of course a good endeavor. While this will provide a stable income to live on, it won’t take you very far unfortunately. However, you can extend your vision like some of the richest people in history have, because your sign has an important advantage: Getting things operational. This practical advantage can benefit your work life. The Venuses of Larry Ellison and John Davison Rockefeller, two of the richest men ever, are on the Virgo sign, just like you. Other than his extraordinary ability to earn money, Larry Ellison’s defining moment was developing databases and making them more efficient. For Rockefeller, meanwhile, his edge came from brokering for himself. Your Venus sign is Libra Libra symbolizes personal relationships like partnerships, trade, and even enmity. The comfort, luxury, and beauty that come with money are symbolic of wealth and important for you. Such a lifestyle requires money, however. You want all these things to feature strongly in your social life and be loved by everyone. Social relationships, artistic events, and aesthetic concepts comprise an elitist lifestyle for you. Appearance is paramount for you, so you may pay too much for something just because it’s popular, even though it may not even be needed. The most apparent feature of the Libra Venus is the need for partnerships and social contacts, the symbols of their sign. To benefit from financial opportunities, you should form a partnership with someone with a business mind, someone you absolutely trust. Libra is a sign where Saturn is ascending. As the popular broker Delbert Gann pointed out, the global stock market is ruled by Saturn. Therefore, if your Venus is not under harsh effects, making medium-to-long-term investments in the stock market can benefit you. Fashion, design and public relations are also fields you may excel in. Politics also comes under Libra. A Libra Venus and one of the richest people in the world, Warren Edward Buffet is known as the man who raided Wall Street. Libra, in those same markets, is the sign of calculation, so it may predict what will be valuable in future. Your Venus sign is Scorpio The symbolic meaning of Scorpio is power and transformation, but don’t let this misrepresent it. Scorpio wants a voice and power over knowledge and the less tangible fields. This is why the astrological positions of many inspectors, magicians, and researchers are at Scorpio. If we talk about financial gain, then sure, Scorpio wants this too. Power is an important concept, and financial wealth helps to gain power. Sometimes you may need to sacrifice financial assets, but this will either be for a cause you believe will benefit you or part of some form of gambit. You keep your knowledge to gain financial resources, waiting until the right time comes. Waiting silently for a long time is a specialty of yours, but don’t forget that when you decide to act, your knowledge may have become outdated and useless. As your sign includes the symbolism of transformation, it is essential for Scorpio Venus to keep their information and abilities fresh and up to date to avoid disappointment. A successful Scorpio Venus hoards knowledge and shares it with no one. Of course, this only means something if you’re individualistically oriented. Another advantage is your ability to transform. Whatever job you have, you can improve it by removing the flaws and increasing your success rate. Bill Gates is a Scorpio Venus and one of the world’s richest people. His advantage was to develop something better by eliminating the faults in the program. (Of course we shouldn’t forget the other features of Scorpio he used in trying to dominate the market.) Sometimes, even when you’re in dire circumstances, you will probably enjoy above average wealth, as your sign is so fertile as the old astrologers would say. Your Venus sign is Sagittarius Sagittarius symbolizes spreading knowledge or coming together with the public order. As a Sagittarius Venus, you’re gifted with finance. You don’t care that much about money, so you may spend too much. The most important thing for you is financial independence without depending on anybody. Your life is based on gaining this freedom. Knowledge and culture are always good subjects for you, and they support you in whatever profession you take up. You can also benefit from other advantages of the Sagittarius Venus. You will be lucky in jobs that involve disseminating knowledge or being in the public order, as mentioned earlier, such as teaching, television, or book publishing. You just need to avoid spending too lavishly. John Kluge is the founder of the Metropolitan Broadcasting Company and one of the richest men on Earth, as well as a Sagittarius Venus. If you look at the name of his company, you see how fitting it is for a Sagittarius Venus. Your Venus sign is Capricorn Capricorn represents ruling and creating systems. You need financial resources to prove your individuality and keep hold of power. You are good with financial disciplines but not particularly lucky. Capricorn Venus people tend to work very hard but often don’t receive their worth. They are the ones who often make the hard decisions, so they may not be always appreciated. In contrast to others who work little yet earn more, Capricorn Venus people may need to work harder, especially when young. You should use your organizational talent and the ability to manage people, as well as your ability to create and design systems. For example, Steve Jobs managed to create an empire from almost nothing with Apple’s revolutionary designs. He was a Capricorn Venus, just like you. Your Venus sign is Aquarius Aquarius is all about thinking out of the box. The constantly repeated, accepted methods are not really for you. You will gain financial resources through your ability to act according to your marginal thinking. You have the capacity to see differences and notice original ideas. Your social relationships will also be important in accumulating financial resources. It will be advantageous for you to choose originality and value marginal ideas in whatever job you do. You may also employ technology very efficiently. For example, Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, has the same Venus as you. He once said this: “1) Don’t be predictable. 2) Fight the system.” Right now in the USA, Wal-Mart is almost as powerful as the government, even though it’s just a supermarket chain. Your Venus sign is Pisces The symbolic meaning of Pisces is to fertilize and penetrate everything. Being the final sign in the Zodiac, it is the only one with the capacity to contain “everything.” The ability to reveal this is very important. Your various interests will help you accumulate wealth, because you have rich thinking and an ability to grasp almost every field. Rather than focusing on a single field, it is better for you to favor variety. You will see that after a while, even in fields you might not have chosen, you soon create a web of relationships and contacts.. Bernard Arnault, one of the richest people in history, is a Pisces Venus like you. Last time I checked, Arnault owned some 58 very prestigious brands and was trying to acquire another two. SCM - The Mate
Voltage owns all rights to Star Crossed Myth and its characters. The image below is not mine. This is one of my crazy fanfics, enjoy! :-)
Tumblr media
Light glimmers from a wondrous blue pool as I sit and observe the image reflected. Sorrow and despair overwhelm my senses facilitating my final decision, they must be saved… This thought runs rampant through my mind. I stand determined and let my power and love flow through my body. My life force drains as my vision blurs steadily when a man’s face with striking features rapidly appears and embraces me as he shouts and sobs uncontrollably. His blue hair shimmers beautifully as my bright aura dances around our bodies; his heartbroken stare is the last thing I see.
“Aaaahhh…..” I yell as I awake abruptly during the night. Sitting in my bed I feel my night gown cling to my sweaty frame; my fingers cramp from the pressure I had exerted during my nightmare. Why? Why does this dream plague me so? The heavy feelings that lingered from the experience gave birth to my desire, my need to release, to get it out of my system. I leave my bed and remove my clammy gown along with my under garments and fetch my robe. “Rhea?! You okay in there?” My uncle yells outside my door. “Yes sir, same as always…. I’m going to go out for a bit.” I can practically hear him huff, “fine, but be careful, stay near the shore and within the boundaries; remember, you’re the largest one of us all.” As always, he has to lecture me, but I know he cares. “Yes uncle, I’ll just take it easy tonight.” He finally walks away.
I leave the comfortable confines of my room and traverse long and winding hallways that finally lead to the outside. I walk along a few steep hills and stand on the edge of the cliff that beautifully accentuates the family’s long private shore. I take in a deep breath letting the sea air refresh my skin and look back to my home, my family’s magnificent castle. I remove my robe exposing my pale skin to the night sky; a surging heat forms from the pit of my stomach and a numbing pain radiates throughout my body. Large wings emerge behind me as black and purple scales cover my skin and my long tail sways behind me. I stretch and stand on my four legs feeling the power of my massive form.
I walk toward the castle that now seems minute compared to my stature and mass. “RHEA! Go on! You have five minutes; the sky is clear and protected. Get your fill because you won’t be able to do this in the city!” I growl at my uncle and spread my wings to push off from the ground. I love how freeing and amazing it is to fly during the night. I make sure to stay at a certain height as my family placed a protective barrier around the area; no one must know of us, there are only a handful of dragons left in the world. My uncle has survived for thousands of years, my cousin for five hundred and then there’s me, the youngest who will turn 350 tomorrow.
We are legends to people now, mere fairy tales or bed-time fables. Our kind was hunted to near extinction as my uncle tells us, but he built our castle, reallocated us to this location in hopes of preserving our kind; however, some of the others fought each other for control of the household and were thus killed, leaving only us and my parents. My father was a fierce alpha dragon and found my mother, a human, as his mate. Normally, only males are born when such a pairing is made; however, I was the exception to the rule and for some reason, I am also the largest dragon, bigger than my predecessors. We are immortal creatures susceptible to violent means of death.
I sigh as glide in circles in the night sky. I wish I had one of my parents with me to guide me in these times, but my father fell victim to a hunter and my mother silently died of despair hundreds of years ago. That nightmare has persisted throughout my long life. Who is that man? Why does my heart ache so when I think of his beautiful eyes which now seem to be engraved in my soul?
My uncle knows of these night visions and has often asked me to find a mate, but I’m just not interested enough. However, in order to appease his ever-growing concern and follow his orders as our leader, I am moving to Tokyo for a few years under the guise of an astrologer. My trip will commence in a few hours and will prove to be a long journey. I growl in the night sky and let out a couple of fiery huffs; feeling satisfied I land once again on the edge of the cliff and shift to my human form. I pick up my robe and quickly put it on as I sense my uncle heading my way.
“Rhea honey, you must go and get ready, Valkin will take you to the airport.” I walk up to meet with him “Don’t worry uncle, I know, I’ll be fast.” He stops abruptly and turns to face me, placing his ever so gentle hands on my shoulders. “Rhea, remember, should you need to shift, come back to us and do it only here; no one must see you. Also, remember, do not wish for anything outside of here, the gods will sense it, they know not of our existence and we could be a threat.” The gods; sometimes I look up at the night sky and think on the constellations and their connection to the powerful beings… what exactly do they do? Are they real? “Rhea, I know you love the stars and I can pretty much guess what you’re thinking about, but don’t dwell on it for too much longer. They are real my young-ling, but our kind has feared them since the beginning of time. Your ancestors use to speak with the first king of the High Heavens. Long ago, we had assisted the gods during one of their wars, however, many of the lesser gods distrusted our kind and the King shielded us in this island before the end of his reign. The gods that knew about us are long gone and his majesty had removed all knowledge of us from the heavens. Now, enough history talk; go, enjoy yourself and FIND A MATE!”
I laugh as I hug my uncle. “We’ll see, you know I don’t really believe in love and the sort.” He pulls back from our hug and runs his hands through my long hair. “Oh my darling Rhea, when you meet that person, you’ll know within seconds…” I stop him  and shake my head as I giggle. “yeah, yea… strong physical pull, hearts bound, yaddah, yaddah….” He shakes his head and puts an arm around my shoulders as we walk back to the castle. “I know, but I can only dream to see the beautiful dragons you’ll produce one day. You’re a rarity in our kind, a female a dragon! Now, sweetie, be sure to wear glasses when you can, your beautiful purple eyes are unusual as are the stars that shine in them.” I nod in agreement as we make our way inside.
To be continued...

Mercury RX
Hey love…remember how I said you NEVER EVER announce an engagement or get married during Mercury Retrograde?  Bad bad time for Harry and The Grifter to announce all this.  Good read on this…especially the “Don'ts during Merc RX”.  I’ve seen this in action over and over.  Just sayin’. I’m going to die laughing watching this thing.  Karma is coming and it won’t be pretty.  Chin up..hang in there and get to feeling better!!
https://www.elephantjournal.com/2015/05/5-dos-donts-for-your-love-life-during-mercury-retrograde-may-18-to-june-11/
When Mercury goes retrograde from May 18 to June 11, expect the cosmic trickster Mercury to upset the very romance his son Cupid previously brought to your life. In fact, be warned that Mercury may play havoc with your love affairs, especially if you don’t pay attention to five “dos and don’ts” during this tricky time frame.
The retrograde period is a time to be careful about the way you conduct yourself in all your romantic contacts to avoid a variety of problems that tend to occur over these three weeks.
During the retrograde, your love relationships may go haywire with miscommunications and crazy turnabouts of all kinds.
You may have experiences that remind you of the interaction between the two main characters in the classic 1987 romantic comedy, Moonstruck. In that movie, Loretta (played by Cher) one day passionately makes love with Ronny, (played by Nicholas Gage) seemingly receptive to embarking on a great new romance with him. The next day, when Ronny claims to be in love with her, she slaps him and says, “Well…snap out of it!”
That would be a Mercury retrograde moment between two people, filled with misperception, leading to misunderstanding, leading to an inappropriate communication (i.e. a slap)!
What causes such confusing and crazy events to happen to people who are romantically involved?
Astrologically, each planet in the sky exerts a unique influence on us and the way we relate to others, especially those with whom we socialize or have a love relationship. The planet Mercury rules our intelligence, mind, memory, and all types of communication ranging from talking and texting to writing. Since it also affects our self-expression and communication style, this planet influences the quality of our social interactions.
How Mercury functions in a person’s birth chart explains a great deal about how they formulate ideas and share them, especially in their romantic pursuits and love affairs. It indicates how they make sense of the relationships they have with others.
During these three weeks when Mercury is retrograde, one’s mental faculties are not functioning well when it comes to the way a person interacts in their social relationships, especially those concerning matters of the heart.
When this unique cosmic event happens (three to four times a year), the communications people have in their social relationships seem to go “bonkers!” Suddenly, normal communications, even with those we have a love relationship with, become unreliable and filled with misinformation where important data is missing or misunderstood. The passage of information between two people seems to be unintentionally cloudy or confused in some way.
This is why any action one takes or decision one makes during the retrograde often fail or seem sabotaged. As a result, they will have to be re-done or restructured in some way when the Retrograde period ends and Mercury goes direct.
During these three weeks, pay special attention to your romantic life and the actions you take in your love relationships. Here are five dos and five don’ts to respectfully observe during Mercury retrograde. Remember the old adage: an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Dos in Your Love Relationships:
1. Do reassert your vows and commitment to your spouse or partner (or that special relationship in your life). This is an excellent time for a ceremony that reconfirms and commemorates your continued devotion and love for each other. It’s positive because you’re just re-celebrating a wonderful event that had its beginnings when Mercury was direct.
2. Do show compassion and forgiveness toward a recent love relationship that has broken-up, especially if you still have unresolved feelings about it. The retrograde is perfect time for a peace offering, whether it’s sending your ex a dozen roses or suggesting that you’ll pack a lunch so that you can meet each other for a picnic in the park. Vow to talk less and listen more so that you can gain a new understanding you didn’t have before. It may lead to reconciliation.
3. Do take time to sit down with your partner and resolve your differences. This is an excellent time to openly discuss upsetting problems or contentious issues that have produced tension between you. Use this time to have an open dialogue where you both take the time to listen and hear each other’s point-of-view. Agree that if can’t come to a resolution, you’ll re-visit your discussion when Mercury goes direct.
4. Do revisit the old haunt where you used to meet the most incredible women (or men). Get in your car and drive to that cozy coffee shop where your flirting met with smiles, hellos and a romantic connection. Take a taxi to your favorite nightspot where you once sat at the piano bar and fell in love. Those places may come alive for you once again, during the retrograde. You may even see someone from your past.
5. Do call that woman (or man) you dated months (or years) ago you were sure was “the one,” but wasn’t. Do call that person who rejected your advance because the timing was wrong. Do call your old flame from many years ago to see what she’s up to. During Mercury retrograde, you may be surprised to find that the romance that didn’t work then, will work now.
Don’ts in Your Love Relationships:
1. Don’t get married during Mercury retrograde, no matter what the inducement or how much you are in love. The retrograde is famous for mental confusion that causes you not to see a complete picture of the relationship you’re about to commit to. It is a time when promises are effortlessly made and unpredictably broken. It’s when you’re sure that nothing can go wrong, until it surprises you and does. The problem is, at this time, there are some facts and extenuating circumstances you don’t know—that you will when Mercury goes direct. Wait until then to get married.
2. Don’t break up with the person you’re in a love relationship with, even if that relationship is unhappy or upsetting. It’s the wrong time to do it. There is something unclear about your situation that may alter your plans. Wait until the retrograde is over. Then, make your final decision. Meanwhile, if necessary, find a safe place to get away if you must. But do not act. Filing for a separation or divorce should be delayed because such actions will only lead to more fighting and misunderstanding that will strain you mentally, physically and emotionally. You’ll need the benefit of a clear mind that will come when Mercury is direct.
3. Don’t change the nature of your current relationship. These three weeks are the wrong time to go from casual dating to going “steady,” or going from seriously dating to becoming engaged, or going from engagement to marriage. Under the spell and confusion of the retrograde you are not seeing the entire picture. Your vision is blurred. You are mentally missing important details that may affect your plans. All that seems right under the retrograde can turn into all that’s wrong when Mercury goes direct. Wait for these three weeks to change the status of your love relationship.
4. Don’t go out on a first date with anyone new. That means if your friend has a fabulous man for you to meet, or your mother wants to introduce you to the gorgeous model she met on the bus, delay your meeting until the three weeks of the retrograde are over. First dates under the retrograde are fraught with unintended miscommunication and complex drama that may be occurring behind the scenes (unbeknownst to you). For this reason, if you have a chance to meet or date someone you might be romantically interested, wait until Mercury goes direct, when clarity of mind will return and you’re more likely to have a fortuitous romantic connection.
5. Don’t engage in any relationship with anyone who sounds dishonest or appears deceptive. Mercury is in the sign of Gemini during this retrograde. Be prepared to meet more “silver-tongued” devils than you’ve met in the last 10 years. If you go to a bar, you’ll think you walked into a “salesmen’s convention.” During the retrograde fibbers, storytellers and deceivers come out as much as ghosts and goblins do on Halloween. If you’re at a social event and you start talking to someone you think is a liar, they probably are. Trust your intuition. Go slow in your social relationships, especially any new ones that are born during the retrograde. Wait to “give it up,” until Mercury goes direct on June 18.
Good News: Mercury Retrograde is Over on June 11
Mercury goes direct on June 11. That’s the time to take action and make important decisions about your romantic life and love relationships.
When that happens, clearer communication will return, important words demonstrative of love can again be relied on, and you’ll see matters with crystal clear vision. You’ll possess important information you didn’t know while Mercury was retrograde. This new knowledge will help ensure you’re making a correct decision where it concerns your love life.
You’ll be happy you listened to the advice of your astrologer, Larry Schwimmer. I’ve got your back.

💕 my views on compatibility for the signs 💕
I get a ton of these asks. Conventional astrological wisdom says that the lot of us is better off with those who share the same element we do or with those who feed our element (earth with water, for instance). However, I’m anything but conventional, so based on my observations since starting this blog, and based on my own experience, here’s my take on general compatibility for each sign:
aries: Here’s the kicker: If you want a faithful Aries, try to stay away from those who have their Venus (their love sign) in Aries or even Aquarius. Also stay away from Sag dom Aries. They tend to wander. If you’re an earth sign, pick an Aries with lots of Air in his chart—he’ll be drawn to you. If you’re a water sign, you’ll probably do well with Aries if he’s fire dominant. And if you want an Aries who lives for love, find an Aries with his Venus in Pisces or is Cancer and/or Libra dominant. Aries, because it’s a fire sign, is often attracted to other fire signs—Sagittarius or Leo. But generally, unless aspects in the chart indicate otherwise, romance with another fire sign can be explosive. Aries gets along well with air signs—Gemini, Libra, Aquarius—or a sign that’s sextile (60 degrees) or trine (120 degrees) from Aries. Sometimes, an earth sign helps ground all that Aries energy. In chart comparisons, a Venus or Moon in Aries in the other person’s chart would indicate compatibility. Romance with an Aries is an experience you won’t quickly forget. Man or woman, these people are all passion and fire. They often form impulsive, rash attachments, and they don’t hold back emotionally. But they’re fickle, too.
taurus:  Unfortunately, other earth signs—unless they have some air in their charts—can sometimes be too serious for Taurus, who needs a good laugh in order to let his guard down. And though Virgo is more critical of themselves (and thin-skinned with others’ criticisms), Taurus can sometimes take it the wrong way, too. Quite often, Taureans are fatally attracted to Scorpios, their polar opposites. Although their elements, earth and water, should make them compatible, this tends to be a superficial connection. Instead, beneath the surface, they’re probably at war with one other. But this just kicks up the chemistry. Taureans are also very attracted to fire signs. This may work okay in a relationship with a Leo, but in the long run, Sagittarius and Aries may just be too big a bite to chew for more down-to-earth Taurus. A huge problem with Taurus and Leo together is that Leo likes to spend. Taurus, while generous, is very concerned with having security, namely a nest egg. Therefore, he’ll woo someone with expensive dinners in the beginning, but he’ll come to resent anyone who makes him spend too much in the end. Air signs mesh well with earth signs, too, because they’re both thinking signs, whereas water and fire signs are more spontaneous and apt to follow their hearts. Gemini will entertain Taurus, but Taurus won’t necessarily trust them. Libra may be a good bet for Taurus, as both have an incredible affinity for an elegant, sumptuous, and refined life. Libra and Taurus manage to acquire it together by spurring each other on. Aquarius’ lifestyle will drive conservative Taurus crazy, despite the bull’s attraction to the waterbearer.
gemini: Geminis are social enough to get along with and be attracted to just about anyone on a superficial basis. They feel most at home with other air signs, particularly Aquarians, whose minds are as quick as theirs. They also get along with Sagittarius, their polar opposites in the zodiac, who share some of the same attributes. Again, though, these are broad generalizations. For compatibility purposes, it’s important to compare the individual charts. When Gemini is truly ready to settle down, an earth sign may be a good option for a partner. A Virgo will be a bit too critical for the thin-skinned Gemini, but a Taurus, with their feisty sensual side, may be just what the doctor ordered. Capricorn can go either way, but most Capricorns won’t put up with Gemini’s otherwise flighty antics or superficial skimming of political ideas that hold great truths for Capricorns. Again, an air sign like Libra may be ideal for Gemini if they can find a balance of minds. If anyone can find that rare balance, it’s Libra. The only problem is that Libra despises confrontation and Gemini tends to go that way. Water signs are probably too side-stepping for feisty Gemini—unless they have a lot of earth or air in their charts. Scorpio and Gemini are a good match in bed, but Scorpio sometimes weighs Gemini down when they wants to go out and play. Leo can be a fun dating partner for Gemini—with a lot of laughter—but Leo may get annoyed when Gemini doesn’t praise the ground they walk on. If Gemini does, it’s a match made in heaven.
cancer: On the surface, Pisces, as the other dreamy water sign, would seem to be the most compatible with a Cancer. But Pisces’s all-over-the-map sense of style with Cancer’s sidestepping could be frustrating for both. Plus, the duality of Pisces would, most likely, drive a Cancer person crazy. One of the best combinations here is water sign, Scorpio. Cancer manages Scorpio with bravado and knows how to get the ever-changing Scorpio hooked. A little mystery goes a long way with Scorpio, and, in the case of this match, Cancer cannot help but induce a little intrigue with their onslaught of bottled-up emotions that just lie beneath the surface. Scorpio might just bring it out of Cancer. Earth signs—Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn—are particularly good for Cancers; especially with Taurus and Virgo because they are sextile to Cancer. Fire signs, on the other hand, tend to bring out the worst in Cancer— unless it’s, perhaps, a very evolved fire sign. In rare cases, Leos do well with Cancers (especially if the Leo is the man).
leo: Another fire sign is good for a Leo simply because their energy levels are similar. Any sign that is sextile (Gemini, for instance) or trine (Aries) would be fine, too—though Leo has little patience for Aries who aren’t spiritually evolved. True, Aries may win Leo for a while, but then what? Aries can be too headstrong. Aries is a lot like Sagittarius with Leo—lots of fire, but not the same temperament. Sagittarius can be a bit too wise and quiet (or even too superficial or stubborn) for Leo; Aries can be too demanding and controlling. The polarity between Leo and Aquarius, its polar opposite sign, may elevate a Leo’s consciousness to where it succeeds best—to the wider world beyond himself, if the Leo has some air signs in his chart. Capricorn can be an interesting match and Scorpio seems like a go until Leo realizes that they may not like the way Scorpio jealousy raises their ugly head. But they’re surely a good match in bed.
virgo: Both Mercury-ruled, Virgos are mentally attracted to Geminis, but they find the twins a bit hard to take for the long run. The light, airy nature of Geminis, too, contrasts with Virgo’s obstinate nature. Gemini likes interesting discussions (as does Virgo) and entertains Virgo well, but Virgo sometimes fights more than Gemini would like. Instead, the “grounding” present in other earth signs may seem appealing on the surface, but leave it to a Virgo to find fault with their fellow earth signs. Scorpios and Cancers may be the best bets, with mystical Pisces a close second. Libra sometimes goes well with Gemini but it may seem like Virgo is always just ’round the bend with Libra—never quite getting all the love and devotion Virgo wants. Libra makes it tough. Fire signs can be great friends with Virgo, but the two might never truly understand the other’s intentions, in general. It depends on the rest of their charts. If one is true earth, and the other is true fire, Virgo patronizes without knowing it, and sensitive fire signs take offense without realizing that Virgo is just trying to help. In the end, anyone with a good heart and a sensitive but practical nature will get along well with Virgo, though. Like all astrological love matches, it all depends on the partners involved.
libra: Libras can get along with just about anyone. They are most compatible with other air signs, Aquarius and Gemini. Though seriously outgoing, Geminis can sometimes scare them—they understand the way Librans think. Scorpios get to the heart of the matter with Libra; they have the intensity and emotional depth that Libras crave. In fact, Libras might even get attached to Scorpios in a volatile and unhealthy way, if they’re not careful. Though Scorpios can be a good match for Libras, they should watch out for signs of control. If Libras feel they’re being manipulated in any way, they’ll be out the door in a flash. Libras also gravitate toward people who reflect their refined tastes and aesthetic leanings, like Leo. Also, an earth sign may provide a certain grounding that a Libra needs. Taurus is a wonderful, sensual match with Libra. Or a water sign, like Cancer, may offer a fluidity of emotion that a Libran may lack. But, with Cancer, it may be an uphill battle. Cancers can be too moody, sometimes, and too self-involved for harmony-seeking Libras. Since opposites attract, Aries can sometimes be a good fit for Libras— though Aries needs to have spiritually “found themselves” before this can work. On another note, a Libra with a Libra can be a good match—however, two of the same signs together can be wonderful or a big mess. When you pick someone of the same sun sign as you, it will magnify all of your good traits—and your bad ones, too. It’s like looking in the mirror. Do you like what you see? Or does it bring up issues for you? It’s best for them (and everyone else) to always choose a partner who brings out their best side.
scorpio: Scorpio is usually compatible with Taurus, because the signs are polar opposites and balance each other. The water of Scorpio and the earth of Taurus mix well. However, both signs are fixed, which means that in a disagreement neither will give in to the other. Scorpios can be compatible with other Scorpios as long as each person understands the other’s intensity and passions. Pisces and Cancer, the other two water signs, may be too weak for Scorpio’s intensity, unless a comparison of natal charts indicates otherwise. Fire signs may blend well with Scorpio, depending on their charts. If a Scorpio is emotionally solid, a Leo may be a good match. Scorpio loves Leo’s sunny nature, and is drawn to it. If Scorpio doesn’t pull Leo down with him, this can work okay. Sagittarius, especially if Scorpio is near the cusp of Sagittarius, can be the same—but ditto with the “bringing her down with the house.” If the two can respect each other and find a good balance, this can work. Aries and Scorpio, however, will find that the emotional gap is probably too much of a chasm to cross.
sagittarius: Other air signs are compatible with Sagittarius. The Sagittarius-Gemini polarity confers a natural affinity between the two signs. But other fire signs might work well, too. It just depends. Sagittarius, above all other fire signs, is the most emotionally secure. Sagittarius is not the most stable (Leo is), but they think they are. They don’t tolerate as much as Leo, but they’re not as ridiculously immature as Aries can sometimes be. He comes off as a natural, quiet leader. And he is. Actually, the best match for Sagittarius is a water sign—particularly Pisces. These two go together so well because Pisces is strong and sensual enough for Sagittarius, but is also a master in the art of silent persuasion. Sagittarius needs someone who is loving, sweet, and tender, will let them do what they feel like doing, and isn’t nitpicky about the little things. Again, a water sign might just do Sags good because they like being “shown the way;” yet, all the while, they’re the one who can act “in charge” of things. When Sagittarius falls in love with “the one,” they’re set for life. Sagittarius can be the least faithful sign of the zodiac, but they can also be the most faithful. If they find what they’re looking for, Sagittarius will settle down and not look any further. In essence, you can get a Sagittarius to fall in love with you if you are sweet, yet strong. They hate being argued with; so, if they do something stupid, approach them in that moment and just tell them what they’ve done wrong. Sags won’t put up with silent passive-aggressive tactics. These drive them crazy (though once in a while these will keep them on their toes). They don’t go for the shy, sensitive type, though. Sag needs to feel that their mate can do fine without them. Only then will a Sag stay.
capricorn: Virgos may be too literal and spirited for Capricorn. Plus, Virgo in bed can bring out Capricorn’s traditional side, which bothers Capricorn, who secretly longs for someone who can open them up, emotionally and spiritually (both in bed and out). Taurus may be too fixed, but because they both have the earth element in common, Capricorn and Taurus can get along well. Of all the water signs, the intensity of Scorpios may be overwhelming— though Capricorn will get a real kick out of Scorpio’s tendency to be jealous. In bed, these two can be smolderingly hot. Instead, the ambivalence of Pisces will, most likely, drive Capricorn nuts. Capricorns may just get along with Cancer because they’re both cardinal signs (though this could be a possible mad rush to the finish line, too! The two can be competitive). Cancer and Capricorn both have refined senses of humour. If Capricorn has patience with Cancer’s moods (which is not likely), this can work. Strangely enough, a Leo might be the best bet for Capricorn. If Leo has some earth in their chart—or some balanced air—they get along well. Certainly, the attraction is there. Capricorn mystifies Leo. Capricorn praises Leo the way they need to be praised. They complement each other, and that’s what it’s all about.
aquarius: Due to the lack of prejudice in this sign, Aquarians usually get along with just about everyone. They’re particularly attracted to people with whom they share an intellectual camaraderie—someone who makes them laugh and makes them feel good about themselves. In this way, Gemini can be a fabulous match for Aquarius, as long as they don’t butt heads. This relationship can work only if the two find balance between neediness and independence. Also, Gemini can surprisingly be extremely jealous and possessive with mates, which Aquarius abhors. Aries is usually a good match for Aquarius. Together, they have lively, fascinating conversations, plenty of spunk, and mental camaraderie. Unfortunately, the flakiness factor of Aries can be evident to Aquarius, and Aqua’s not sure if they can trust the ram. However, Aquas like the challenge. I’ve also found that many Aquarians wind up with Virgos. Virgos have the kind of stubbornness and organized stability that Aquarians secretly crave. But this may also be an ego thing. Again, Aquarius loves a challenge and Virgo keeps them squirming with their moral lectures and hard-headed ways. But, mentally and in bed, these two can do very well together. A Libra or another Aquarius can be a good match—especially if one is more outgoing and gregarious than the other and lets their partner shine. This is a good example of two of the same (air) signs doing well together. Aquarians are usually secure enough to see bad and good traits in a partner that are similar to their own, and still be able to deal with it and move ahead with the relationship. A sign that’s sextile or trine to Aquarius will also work. And Aquarius’s polar opposite, Leo, can be an interesting mate for Aquarius. If Aquarius doesn’t get too self-involved and gives Leo her fair due, this can work. But Leo is usually running after Aquarius, and Aquarius can get tired of that—fast. If Leo pulls away a little, this rapport can function well. All in all, Aquarius is a great partner if you’ve truly won their heart. If not, you’ll just be a stop along the way for lively Aquarius, who craves adventure and experience.
pisces: Other water signs seem the obvious choice here. But Scorpio might overpower Pisces, and Cancer might be too clingy. The signs sextile to Pisces are Capricorn and Taurus. While Capricorn might be too limited and grounded for the Piscean imagination, Taurus probably fits right in. Gemini, also, because it’s a mutable sign like Pisces, can be compatible. The real shocker here is that Sagittarius may just be the best combination for Pisces. Though they’re such opposites, they complement each other quite well. Pisces is able to soothe the Sagittarius savage beast—and they fit like two pieces of a puzzle (since both signs are Jupiter-influenced [Jupiter being the old ruler of Pisces and current ruler of Sagittarius]). Pisces also lets Sagittarius do what he wants, yet always keeps the upper hand with a cool, polished, quietly strong demeanor. And this is what Sagittarius likes best. As for the other fire signs, there doesn’t seem to be much chance, but it truly depends on the other factors in the two separate charts.

Life on a Möbius Strip: The Greatest Moth Story Ever Told, About the Unlikely Paths That Lead Us Back to Ourselves
“…a living testament to the incredibly improbable trip that we’re on.”
Our lives are shaped by an inescapable confluence of choice and chance. “The things we want are transformative, and we don’t know or only think we know what is on the other side of that transformation,” Rebecca Solnit wrote in her beautiful inquiry into how we find ourselves by getting lost. But the truth is that most of the time we don’t know or only think we know what is on this side of any transformative experience — we live much of our lives opaque to ourselves, lost within our own psyches, confused and conflicted about what we really want. Milan Kundera considers this the central ambivalence of love and life.
We tend to make sense of it all by deft mental acrobatics, deducing what we want from what we get, only to realize — and it is never quite clear whether this is a deep truth or a deep delusion — that the strange and unpredictable outcomes of life were what we desired in the first place.
That’s what cosmologist and novelist Janna Levin explores in what remains, in my book, the greatest story ever told on The Moth. It was later published under the title “Life on a Möbius Strip” as the opening piece in the beloved storytelling show’s inaugural anthology, The Moth: 50 True Stories (public library).
In this storytelling masterpiece, a testament to poet Mark Strand’s notion that life is “such a lucky accident … that we’re almost obliged to pay attention,” Levin uses her scientific research into whether the universe is infinite or finite as a springboard for leaping into the infinitely complex, infinitely messy mysteries of the human heart — those largely arbitrary events we spend our lives arranging into a mosaic of meaning.
“Einstein famously said, “Only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity.” Then he added, “And I’m not so sure about the universe.” And it’s true, there’s a realistic possibility that the entire universe is finite; it’s mathematically and physically possible.
There was a period of time in my research when I was obsessed with this idea. I was fixated on the implication that you could leave the Earth and travel in a straight line to a planet in a distant galaxy on the edge of the observable universe and realise the galaxy was the Milky Way that you had left behind you, and the planet you had landed on was the Earth. There were also weirder possibilities that the Earth was reconnected like a Möbius strip — if you took a left-handed glove on that same trip, it would come back right-handed.
The hazard for a scientist working on something so esoteric is the possibility that it just might not be true or it might not be answerable. I felt myself kind of navigating this precipice between discovery on the one side and obscurity on the other side. At the time I was working at Berkeley, living in San Francisco. I would spend a lot of time in the coffee shop across the street from my apartment. I was trying to find some kind of tangible connection to a more earthbound reality. And it was there that I met this guy named Warren.
Warren came charging past me the first day I saw him and pinned me with his blue eyes and said, “You’re the astrophysicist.” Which I knew. And then he had so much momentum after having built up the nerve to say this to me that he kept walking; he didn’t wait for my response. He went right out of the coffee shop and down the street.
And so it begins.
Warren is just everything I would never want in a man. He can’t drive, he’s never had his name on a lease, he’s by his own confession completely uneducated, he’s a self-professed obsessive-compulsive. He comes from a really tough part of working-class Manchester. He writes songs like
Daddy was a drunk, daddy was a singer, daddy was a drunken singer. Murdered in a flophouse, broke and drunk…
You get the idea. It’s not good. So naturally I’m completely smitten. And he is mesmerising. He has all this intensity, all this energy. He’s full of opinions. He was going to start his own music station called Shut the Folk Up.
I said, the gag is going to be that nobody’s going to understand his accent. Nobody will understand a word he says! He’ll just rant. It was a Manchester accent, but it did seem even more tangled than one would expect. It was quite a brogue. He would talk so fast that the words would just slam together — it was really undecipherable. But when he sang, this big, beautiful, warm tone just lifted out of him; it was like this old-timey crooner, this rare crisp and clear sound. So I used to tell him, “If there’s anything that’s really urgent that you need me to understand, just, like, sing it to me, OK?”
So, Warren and I started seeing each other, and he never asked me about my work, which was quite a relief from my own sort of mental world. And it’s like we were both in exile. Warren was in exile from his actual country, and I was in a kind of mental exile. And he would obsess all day about music and melody, and I would obsess all day about mathematics and numbers. And it was like we were pulling so hard in such opposite directions that the tension kept both of us from floating away.
After a few weeks of seeing each other, Warren decides we should live together, and he’s going to convince me that I should let him move in. So he gives me this argument — some fairly inventive logic, which I’m a little suspicious of, and laden with all kinds of Manchester slang I don’t really follow. But Warren can convince me of anything, just anything, so I relent, and he says, “I’ll be right back!” He’s so excited; he comes back in less than an hour, and he’s moved in. He’s carrying his guitar and whatever he can carry on his back, because he has this philosophy, “If you can’t carry it, you can’t own it.” Right? So he moves in with me.
And my parents are thrilled. Their recently Ph.D.-confirmed daughter — I have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from MIT — is living with an illegal immigrant who can’t spell words like “nonviable,” “unfeasible.” Even our friends are full of doubt. Our good friend, the musician Sean Hayes, is writing lyrics like
We’ll just play this one out until it explodes Into a thousand tiny pieces What’s your story universe You are melody, you are numbers You are shapes, and you are rhythms
Warren and I hear this, and we’re pretty sure it’s about us. And I’m filled with doubt too. I mean, this is a crazy situation; it’s totally improbable. And my fellowship’s coming to an end, and the only other offers I have are in England. And Warren hates England. He slumps when he describes the low-hanging skies and the black mark of his accent there, and the inescapability of his class, but he says, “Baby, you know, I’ll follow you anywhere. Even to England,” as though I’m bringing him to the acid marshes of hell.
But he makes himself feel better by convincing me we have to sell all our stuff, because you can’t own what you can’t carry. So we’re sitting on the steps of our apartment, and I watch stuff that I’ve been carting around my entire life just disappear.
People come in and out of the coffee shop and stop to talk to us and say, “So you’re the astrologer?”
And I say, “Well, no, I’m more of an astronomer.” And they ask me about how is it possible that the universe is finite. And I explain how Warren and I could go on this trip from San Francisco to London, and if we kept going in as straight a line as possible we’d eventually come back to San Francisco again, where we started. Because the Earth is compact and connected and finite, and maybe the whole universe is like that. And Warren and I make this leap, his left hand in my right hand, and we board a plane to the UK.
And it does suck. We have this very difficult wandering path, but finally I land a fantastic fellowship at Cambridge. It’s beautiful. But not before we spend a few weeks in a coin-operated bed-sit in Brighton. If you ran out of pound coins, your electricity went off and the lights went out. We often ran out of pound coins, and towards the end we were so despondent we would just sit in the dark. I could hear though not see Warren say things like “At least I don’t have to look at the wood-chipped wallpaper,” which for some reason really depressed him, this very English quality of the wood-chipped wallpaper.
But eventually we get to Cambridge, and my work takes a beautiful turn. I start working on black holes, these massive dead stars tens of kilometres across spinning hundreds of times a second ripping through space at the speed of light. This is very concrete compared to my previous research. So I’m excited about the direction my work’s turning in. I’m in Hawking’s group in Cambridge, which is very exciting, but he doesn’t pay me any attention at all. But I’m invited by Nobel laureates to Trinity College for dinner, and I get to watch this ceremony of dinner at this old, beautiful college from the privileged perch of high table.
Meanwhile Warren’s down the road in another college washing the dishes because it was the only job he could get. And as things go on, we both start to retreat into our mental worlds, me in my math and Warren in his melody, but it’s like we’re not really keeping each other from floating away so much anymore.
Eventually it starts to rain, and it rains forever. Woody Allen said, “Forever’s a very long time, especially the bit towards the end.” And a rainy winter in Cambridge is a very long time. Warren picks up a mandolin; he starts playing these Americana bluegrass tunes over and over again, you know, na na na na na na na. And it’s this manic soundtrack to our mounting insanity, and eventually we explode. It takes about six months of that relentless rain, but we explode, and it’s over. And all we see is how improbable we are; we see that we’re nonviable and unfeasible. Which are words, by the way, that Warren can spell by then.
We both leave. We pack up everything we have, each of us just what we can carry. We end up in a bus terminal in London, clutching each other. I’m waiting for Warren to convince me, because he can always convince me, that we can do the impossible. But it’s like the light’s gone out in his eyes, and I disappear into London and he just… disappears. And the silence is total.
A graduate student of mine recently said to me, “The emotional dimension is the least interesting part of the human experience.” And I know scientists are odd, but I agree. I was like, “Yeah, I know what you mean.” So it’s difficult for me to recount how dark those nights were. Even in my worst moments I knew that my despair was just sort of not interesting. I needed to get back to mathematics and the universe and this connection because in its sheer magnitude it would diminish the importance of my personal trials.
I searched all over London until I found a perfect warehouse to move into, because I wanted to connect with a more earthbound reality while I was doing my research. I found the perfect place. It had broken windows and shutters. It was dead empty — no bathroom, nothing. I had the windows replaced, and I had a bathroom installed, and my unit became a part of this artists’ community building on the east end of London, along the canals.
So I had a great community around me, and I started a new life there, and I started to write. I got a book deal. It was a book about whether or not the universe was finite, and it was a diary about the terror of a scientist working on that really frightening divide between discovery and total oblivion. And it became a parallel story about Warren, about the unraveling of an obsessive-compulsive mind. I think if I’m honest it was also a way of still hanging on to him. This book kind of came out of me fully formed; it took one year.
When the book was finished, I delivered it to my publisher, and in part fueled by the London gloom and in part fueled by nostalgia, I decided I wanted to go back to San Francisco just to recuperate. To go back to where the book actually starts, when we sell all of our stuff on the steps in San Francisco.
I go back to California, and I take these beautiful walks in the city. San Francisco is so beautiful. And I find myself, despite myself — because I tell myself not to do it — walking past my old neighborhood. I end up going past my old coffee shop, and I’m going like three miles an hour, you know, there are like five thousand feet in a mile, and there’s like three thousand, six hundred seconds in an hour, so I’m going about four and a half feet, I figure, per second. It takes me about two seconds to go past this coffee shop window.
In that time, because I’m looking at my building, my old apartment, full of sentiment, what I don’t realize is that on the other side of that window, inside the coffee shop, is Warren, who, after I left him in the London bus terminal, went back to California, came back to London, went to France, came back to London, and just recently returned to San Francisco, and got a job in the coffee shop, where he regaled the patrons with stories about his travels. He was so uprooted. But the light was back on in his eyes. And as he’s turning around to deliver a coffee, he lifts his head to see me, in those two seconds, walk past the frame of the window. And he shouts, “It’s self-service!”
He stumbles out of the coffee shop. People are grabbing muffins and coffees, they’re like, “Warren! What’s up?!” And he’s trying to get out of the coffee shop, trying to grab on to the handle of the door. He keeps banging his head. It’s like a bird trying to get out the window. And all of the sudden, the door swings open and deposits Warren in front of me.
You often think, What am I going to say when I bump into my ex? But, it’s just this electric moment between us. There’s this swell of warmth, and we laugh that we’re back where we started on this very spot in San Francisco.
I try to give him the essential data. I’m living in London Fields, and he tells me I’ve moved onto the block he lived on when he was nineteen and squatting in London. Out of the whole city of London. And he recognises the names of all the locals I can rattle off. And by the end of the conversation he’s saying, “I’m coming with you back to London aren’t I?”
And I’m thinking, Are you out of your mind? I mean, what woman in her right mind is going to let this lunatic come back to London with her? There is no way.
About a year later, we’re married. Our rings, which were made by a friend of ours, are stamped with the lyrics “Melody and Number, Shapes and Rhythms” with no small dose of irony and defiance. About a year after that, we’re having a baby, and we’re laughing at how improbable this kid is.
We have no idea. When this kid is born, he is so beautiful, and afterwards a young medical resident comes charging into my hospital room, and he’s so excited he’s beaming. And I’m thinking, He sees how beautiful this boy is. But he’s carrying an X-ray, which he slaps on the window of my hospital room so the light can come through, and I can see it better. But I still don’t know what I’m looking at.
He says, “Your son’s heart is on the right side.” And he doesn’t mean the correct side, he doesn’t mean the left side. He means my son’s heart is on the right side.
And all I can think in this terrifying moment is Get Warren.
And the resident says, “Your son has dextrocardia with situs inversus; all his organs are on the opposite side.”
And I say, “Get Warren.”
And the resident tells me he’s so excited, because he never thought he’d ever see anything like this. To his knowledge, nobody else in the hospital’s seen it in real life. And he’s describing studies for me that are made up of only twelve cases because the numbers are so rare.
And then Warren’s there, and he’s saying in that rough, raw, beautiful accent what only he can convince me of, the totally impossible. He’s saying, “He’s perfect.”
And our now eight-year-old son is a perfectly formed mirror image of the more conventional human anatomy, a very rare and unlikely alignment. It’s as though Warren and I took our left-handed code on a Möbius strip around the universe and brought back this right-handed boy. And that boy, as intense and spirited as his father, is like a living testament to the incredibly improbable trip that we’re on.”
Complement this exceptional installment in the altogether excellent The Moth, which features true stories by Adam Gopnik, Andrew Solomon, Sebastian Junger, Malcolm Gladwell, and Aimee Mullins, with Levin on madness and genius, free will, and the century-long quest to hear the sound of space-time.
