Inventor Xam and Saamid who belongs to @eldritchseacrab
After being released from his contract with his former boss, Xam was pretty directionless. He fell in to doing short contract work here and there. It is around this time he met and fell in love with a doctor named Saamid. Saamid was on the run from the Inquest and Xam felt he had the resources to help. Their romantic involvement was a tumultuous affair, punctuated here and there with poignant arguments. But for a time, they loved each other dearly. It wouldn't last, but Xam would treasure the memories they made together for the rest of his life, and his door would always be open to Saamid should he ever need help again.

29. Do they have any interest in returning to the Depths of Tyria? Do they think asura should go back to their lost cities in the Depths to rediscover lost knowledge, or should they be fine with life on the surface?
30. Free space for 3 pieces of trivia about your asura!

Lore Post - Leyya, Whispers Infiltrator
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(There are some headcanons ahead, as well as information from mine and @wall-legion's lore and slightly altered version of some events.)
The oldest child of Pruri and Daxx, and the only one they had in their contract (though both would go on to have numerous other contracts, having gotten contracted after a whirlwind college romance the minute they were of age meant things fell apart pretty quickly after Leyya was born).
With at least twelve other half siblings spread between both of her parents, she was always a little out of place.
It is, of course, important to note that Leyya was not born Leyya, but I will be referring to her as "she" and "Leyya" through the entirety of this post.
By the time Leyya was old enough to enter progeny school, Pruri was working as a private progeny instructor, primarily in a cushy position as tutoring "wards of the council." That is: she specialized in teaching orphans who were under the care of the state.
Since Leyya was the right age at the time, Pruri just decided to have her sit in on the class instead of enrolling her in a traditional progeny school. She was a friendly kid, open, got on well with the other kids around her. It helped the other progeny feel more at ease in the uncomfortable new surroundings. What happened then was unexpected, however: Leyya spotted a girl sitting in the back of the class. Prickly looking, big pale blue eyes, tucked in on herself and taking notes without really talking to anyone.
Her decision? Yeah. That girl's going to be my best friend.
This amused Pruri- after all, Leyya having a close friendship couldn't hurt. And so Leyya met Zojja, and it was pretty clear Zojja had no idea what to do with this girl with the wild white hair and pumpkin orange eyes and big toothy grin that sat down next to her and talked enthusiastically after every lesson, regardless of the what they were learning.
To be fair, it was not an easy initial friendship. Zojja was very unsure of Leyya, and Leyya was an Extremely Loud Kid. But it can be lonely being an orphan living in Charitable Council Provided Housing with Council Provided Care, especially when you're very smart and there's just something that sets you apart from everyone else. Then you've got Leyya, miss "Hey, I'm a weirdo too!"
Things did eventually warm, to the point that they were pretty much glued at the hip. And honestly, Leyya being so loud and boisterous let Zojja focus on her work… and it did eventually bring her out of her shell a bit.
They were tight enough that when Snaff came into the picture, looked at this angry but clearly brilliant ten year old orphan, and went "Is anyone gonna adopt that," he kept her in Pruri's progeny classes and happily encouraged her friendship with Leyya.
Of course, in the end, Leyya did end up going to Dynamics instead of Synergetics... not that it did much to divert her. She wound up playfully instigating academic rivalry with Zojja, though she otherwise did quite well in college. She proved to have a penchant for sneaking and hiding and getting into trouble, too. It was also during this time that she sort of started… feeling herself out.
Leyya was not as she was born, Leyya was a girl. And so in college, she tentatively came out to Zojja first. Not out of any fear of her reaction to Leyya being trans. Growing up steeped in asuran culture, being trans was a perfectly normal state of being. Matter can change its shape, and so too can people. Instead, it was because of a different reason: by this point, Leyya had developed a significant crush on Zojja, and she was worried about whether Zojja was into girls.
(She forgot to ask Zojja if she was into girls.)
After the two of them graduated, they did drift apart a little, though not completely. Zojja threw herself into her apprenticeship with Snaff while Leyya went on to be recruited by the Order of Whispers. Eventually, Leyya drifted back into Zojja's life, and the two hit it off as if they'd never spent time apart. Snaff began affectionately referring to Leyya as "Zojja's girlfriend" during introductions with strangers, something both young woman constantly denied.
This continued on even into the start of Destiny's Edge, when during one meeting at Snaff's laboratory, she was introduced as such to the new members of the small guild.
Leyya was encouraging the whole time. Zojja had her reservations, not trusting the plans of these representatives from the other races, and it was all Leyya could do to try to keep her spirits up as things grew more and more tense.
And then, late one night, she met Zojja at the entrance to Snaff's lab as she returned home alone, having cremated her adopted father and mentor with her own hands after their disastrous attempt in Elona.
She was one of the only people outside of Destiny's Edge to witness Zojja cry, sitting on the floor with her long into the early hours, draped over her like a blanket and paying little mind to the tears that soaked her thick leather jerkin as her childhood best friend, the most beloved person in her life, grieved the loss of her master.
As for Leyya, she vowed to never let Zojja bear that kind of weight alone ever again.
As time passed, Leyya did her best to help out where she could. She encouraged her parents to help sponsor the creation of the Snaff Savant prize, and for the six years it ran leading up to the Personal Story, Leyya was often in the peripheral, keeping an eye on things and being there should Zojja need a "gopher."
When Zojja came to her to let her know she was seeking out her old classmate Vezz with the intention of having him help with a project since his recent rumored "explosive" exit from the Inquest, she gladly stepped in to help, leading Vezz's induction into the Order of Whispers and then tailing Zojja through the dungeons as the war against Zhaitan progressed. When they learned of Logan's sacrifice in Arah, it was Leyya again who encouraged Zojja to finally speak with Eir, leading the two women to finally bridge the gap and start working down the path to reconciliation.
Through LWS1 and LWS2, Leyya spent her time alternating between living with Zojja and traveling to keep an eye on the younger of her two apprentices, Taimi. It was a time for both of them to relax, and Leyya's time away provided Zojja with time to work and to continue her talks with Eir.
HoT provided the major pivot point. Leyya was at Zojja's side en route into the jungle, but they were separated when the Pact airships were decimated. And when Leyya finally was able to get back to everyone, she learned what had happened to her beloved Zojja. Furious at what had happened and at herself, she went searching for some way to find some form of vengeance. And she found it in an ancient dagger. On slicing through the skin of her arm with it, she was overwhelmed by a foreign power, foreign entity, foreign thoughts...
And so her possession by the Kryptis, Cepir the Greedy, began. She immediately went into hiding, immense guilt overwhelming Cepir's attempts to use her lust and anger to return to Zojja immediately.
What happens next is a story for another day.

😊🥝🌠 for cyll and alder
😊
Cyll- she loves dancing. She and her krewe used to go to (and sometimes sneak into) parties of all kinds and just dance all night. Eventually her love of dance was what let her prove herself to the choya and not get eaten by them. Her favorite dance partner is Caithe, before that it was her ex-krewemate Boxx. Cyll was generally really optimistic pre- path of fire, and she still tries to be even though being the commander really weighs on her. What other people like about her is that she's fun and exciting, and knows how to bring people out of their comfort zone to have fun without forcing them or stressing them out
Alder- this guy LOVES every kind of physical, sensory pleasure. Good food, soft clothing, sparkly jewelry, beautiful artwork, a warm candle lit bath, a comfy king size bed with a million fluffy pillows. He has very expensive tastes but he's got an eye for quality so you know whatever he loves to indulge in is well worth the price tag. Especially if the price tag is zero gold because he stole it! He seems generally happy on the surface but, despite his romantic and flirty personality, he has a hard time finding deep, meaningful connections long term and I think he's actually pretty lonely. The few people he is close with love him SO MUCH though, they understand that under all the theatrics he's genuinely really sweet
🥝
Cyll- honestly for her since she's the commander you can pretty much go by the canon, the s4 episode where aurene died and the newest story chapter are about it. She can also be prone to violent outbursts of pure, feral rage post- path of fire. What she really needs around these times is 1. Someone else to take the leadership role and 2. To be held. I don't think words could really help much, she would just overthink and feel guilty and make herself more upset. She just has to be held and let it all out
Alder- he's really, really good at hiding when he's upset. On a bad mental health day he just holds everything in and finds a place to hide so he can drink and cry in private. The best thing for him is for someone to get the alcohol away from him, make him something to eat, have him drink some water, and just sit with him or listen to him for a while. He can get overstimulated so it's better to be quiet and not try to give him a hug or anything
🌠
Cyll- her first friend was her ex-krewemate Boxx. They used to do everything together, but he had this weird thing about cubes. Just an absolute fascination with them. He believes cubes are mathematical representations of perfection and hold the secrets to the eternal alchemy and reality itself. When the asuran colleges wouldn't fund his cube research, he became obsessive, and then disappeared. Cyll later found out he had joined the inquest for a while, then eventually left with several followers and started a cult called The College of the Cube. She's incredibly guilty and frustrated about it, she hates him but also still loves him, and can't bring herself to fight him and the college.
Alder- he didn't really have friends before the metal warband, except one. It was a krytan noble named Richard Ballston. They were really close for a while, until Alder started feeling like something was off, and eventually pieced together the power imbalances of krytan society, and that even among the nobility Richard was horribly unfair to the people "below" him. When confronted about this, Richard completely lost his shit and tried to murder Alder with his sword, but Alder managed to escape, along with enough gold and jewels to survive on his own for a while. Except, one of those jewels turned out to be a powerful magical artifact and heirloom of the krytan Ballston family, and after that Richard painted him as a dangerous, extremely cunning criminal who had made an attempt on his life. After that Alder had a hard time trusting anyone, so most of the people he's met and lost contact with over the years were short lived romances and hookups. He misses and regrets not getting closer with some of them

I feel like people dont appreciate asuran courtship for what it is.
like who on here falls in collaboration love with people. Where you’re excited to wake up and hear their ideas, when you count the seconds to tell them what you thought of on the way to work. Your ideas building off each other and creating willy nilly because you’re in a glorious loop of validation and passion for your work. like i get colab-crushes all the time and they wreck me more than romantic ones do. How many times do you see someone’s work and fall in love with their process and skill. You wanna make magic with em to the extent romance is an afterthought.
I’m surprised more people arent thirsty for that kinda asuran romance, and instead just pass it up for a heteronormative courtship with more SAT words.

ASURa for Tjiia
Heya, ozelot! Thanks for the ask! A: Aptitude 1. what are your oc’s natural abilities, things they’ve been doing since young?
Tjiia is a natural born thief. She's extremely good at stealing and confusing people, even before she took up the profession.
2. what activities have they participated in?
Too many activities to count. Tjiia has been all over the world, being involved in so much stuff she cannot even remember all of it.
3. what abilities do they have that they’ve worked for?
In the game, I've made her use the deadeye spec. In my headcanon she has to train with Zafirah first before she's able to even hold her gun at the right angle.
4. what things are they bad at?
Honestly, she can suck at being a reliable friend. It happens fairly often that she chooses to run away for her own sake instead of staying by her friends' side and consoling them. Also, she's a terrible singer, but that doesn't stop her from trying and serenading Ari (@medical-unprofessional-rat-man).
5. what is their most impressive talent?
Her artistic skills are surely something with which she can impress. Her parents were part-time circus artists, so she picked up a lot of their tricks, and likes to perform them for her friends. They also come in handy in combat.
S: Streets
1. are they street-smart?
Yes, very much so! It's kind of ironic. She grew up in Rata Sum, the hub for science in Tyria, but spent her times on the streets, learning tricks.
2. would they give money to someone on the streets?
No. Tjiia mostly lacks an empathetic side, she doesn't necessarily care for strangers.
3. have they ever gotten in a fight on the streets?
Absolutely, since she was young. Tjiia always needed to prove herself in front of bigger, smarter, richer people, and her big mouth didn't help either. She almost got into trouble with the Seraphs for instigating a fight in front of a tavern in Divinity's Reach – good thing she's quick on her feet.
4. has anything happened to them on the streets?
In terms of tragic events, no, but she has learned a lot from the people out there. Vagabonds, travelers, pilgrims, bandits, pirates, beggars; she primarily contributes her vast knowledge of the world to these people.
5. are they cautious when out?
Tjiia always seems so careless and self-assured. She knows she would quickly gain the upper hand if something should happen out there, but that's also because she has her eyes and ears everywhere, thief-style.
U: Underdog
1. have they been bullied?
Her family's lifestyle has always been looked down upon by other Asurans. Her parents rejected the normal Asuran life, and so did Tjiia. She was judged and even laughed at for that, but she never really cared about the opinions of others, especially other Asura.
2. have they bullied anyone?
No, I'd suppose.
3. have they been physically attacked by a bully?
THAT nobody really was brave enough to do.
4. have they ever been doubted?
Oh, constantly! By her mentor Canni, by her foster brother Ari, by her schoolmates (when she actually went to school), Pact soldiers and even herself.
5. have they surprised people with being good at something?
Almost immediately when she enters a battle, people are surprised by how quick and effective she is. Later on she actually becomes a renowned sniper and infamous sailor, so yes, people tend to be surprised when she shows off her skills.
R: Rules
1. do they follow rules?
Tjiia hates hates hates rules. It goes against her very core wish of freedom. It already takes enough of her to follow Pact principles, which is why she leaves several times – only to realize that sometimes she has to swallow down her sentiments and abide by the rules … more or less.
2. would they be a strict or laid-back parent?
Absolutely laid-back. She's ace and otherwise uninterested in romance, so there's no chance she'll have a kid, but if she did, she'd be that kind of cool hippie mom.
3. have they ever been consequenced for breaking a rule?
Technically yes, but Tjiia doesn't take these consequences seriously.
4. have they broken any rules they now regret breaking?
Not really rules but she has done some stuff she regrets now.
5. do they find any rules they/others follow absolutely ridiculous?
Basically … almost everything. She recognizes that there are laws and social rules, but she's easy to judge people who blindly follow them without questioning.
Hope you have a great day, @dasozelotvonnebenan!

Ok so big lore dump for Floppy based on the timeline drawing I did.
Timeline of events (with in game events for reference)
1334 AE - Current time after Jormag / primordus death (floppy is 49)
1325 AE - Start of personal story (floppy is 40)
1320 AE - death of Snaff, breakup of destiny’s edge (Floppy is 35)
1319 AE - Aerri dies at age 11-12 (Floppy is about 33-34)
1311 AE - Floppy’s partner leaves her and Aerri.
1307 AE - Aerri is born (floppy is 21-22 )
1302 AE - First Sylvari are born. Floppy moves to Rata Sum to study at the college of dynamics.
1285 AE - Floppy is born
Alright so lore...
Floppy grew up outside of Rata Sum in a swamp. I don’t have a specific swamp area but I’m thinking around one of the ones in Kessex Hills, close to humans you know?
The swamp living can be traced back a good many generations in the Floppy family. The story has been lost to time, but it is presumed that some form of adoption (or maybe even romance??) led to the creation of a last name for this family “Floppy” which definitely sounds really goofy now but...maybe it was a more regal word back then? Either way, the Floppy name and the ears that came with it have been held with pride.
So back to THE Floppy, she spent her whole childhood living in the swamp with her father, while there was a bit of Asuran tech in the house for her to learn how to use and create it, the lack of nearby resources and inherent off-the-gridness of living in a swamp meant that she had to turn her mind elsewhere.
Instead she spent a lot of her time doing one of two things: exploring the swamp and learning about all the flora/fauna there, and working on developing her magical abilities.
Of course, there is still only so much you can do in a swamp and Floppy became restless. It didn’t help that her relationship with her father was becoming more and more strained as she continued to express the desire to present more feminine/be acknowledged as a girl, and her father (thinking this was somehow a complex she developed to try and replace her mother) denying it.
So Floppy leaves to go study at Rata Sum at the College of Dynamics. This is when she started to only go by her last name, since she didn’t want to be called on by her old (dead)name.
College was an interesting time for Floppy, this was her first time really interacting with a lot of other Asura. Between her background and the general personality of Asura, she was definitely seen as an outsider and “subpar” which led to her trying very hard to be accepted in some way. She put a lot of undue pressure on herself (though she didn’t notice it) to be the best, in her class and outside of it.
She definitely joined in with a lot of the more “fun” orientated Asura and became a bit of a party animal. Not only was it nice to be free, but if other people think you’re fun and good to have around they won’t reject you!
At some point during this time, Floppy meets her partner (who is unnamed) they’re relationship seems to be pretty good, and they get very very close. Then they became pregnant.
It was a bit of a surprise, but their relationship was already so seemingly close that it was ‘fine’.
Floppy became very excited and supportive, happy to be able to start her own family and really take hold of her new life.
Thus Aerri was born, a baby girl with poor health. At first there was hope, there was a chance she’d grow out of it. But that was disproven when she had a serious spike in her condition as a toddler.
This sudden scare acted as a catalyst for the breaking of the somewhat straining relationship between Floppy and her partner. A fight broke out, the partner talking about how this was too much stress for them and how they “never wanted a kid”. The partner then left, leaving Floppy to care for Aerri herself.
After that Floppy just poured herself into caring for Aerri and trying to find some way to combat her health problems. This constant workload slowly ate away at her, and despite all her work she couldn’t find any kind of a cure.
By the time Aerri is on her deathbed Floppy is a husk of herself. And once Aerri does die she becomes despondent.
For a while she can kind of get by just feeling her grief, most other Asura are also grieving around this time because of Snaff’s death. But eventually she has to go back to work and do something to keep the lab running. So she starts halfheartedly working on her old projects, and does small tech jobs to put bread on the table.
She functions like this for years, until some inquest break into her lab and steal from her. It wouldn’t have been as distressing to her if it wasn’t for the fact that they stole a crystal containing all the work and data done by Aerri.
Of course, Floppy couldn’t lose one of her biggest pieces of her daughter’s memory, so she embarks on a quest to get it back.
It is on this quest where she meets Zojia and the events of personal story begin.
Personal story is about the same, for Floppy it was a time where she really started to feel direction coming back to her life, motivation to do things. But then the losses started, and the conflicts got worse, and before she knew it she was The Commander, this godlike person who could (had to) kill dragons. And it went downhill from there.
Now she’s just really tired, she is happy to have done so much for the world, and appreciates the new family she has found in Dragon’s Watch, but she is so so tired.
Now being the commander is a means to an end, she needs to finish this never ending battle. But once she finishes it, what will she do then?? She’s once again poured herself into something, with no plan on what to do once that container breaks.

Fic promp: We were together. I forget the rest.
yeah so turns out i’m no longer capable of flashfic, so six hours later have this long angsty but hopeful fix-it-y thing instead!
**
John wakes up in the infirmary, gasping, like he’s been held underwater, and he doesn’t remember.
Someone calls for a doctor (Rodney, he knows that voice, it sounds like Rodney), there are warm hands holding him down, Teyla’s voice: “Remain calm. You are in Atlantis. You will be all right.”
His senses start to kick in: the beep of a heart monitor, his own harsh breathing, the infirmary blanket gripped in his hands and pain, and the feeling of something like electricity fizzing along his skin. He can’t—
A light flashes in his eyes (a pen-light, possible concussion) and Keller is talking, telling him to breathe normally.
He tries to, and he sags against the pillows, blinks away the spots. His team is all there—a sign whatever happened to him is bad enough to hold an audience—and he doesn’t—
Ronon asks, “Sheppard, do you remember what happened?”
He doesn’t, he doesn’t, and there’s someone missing—
The first word he gets out is: “Elizabeth.”
Keller says, “Just relax, Colonel, don’t try to talk. Your body’s been through a lot. It’ll take a while to—”
But Elizabeth was with him, the last time he was conscious. He doesn’t remember where he was or how he got there or anything else, but he knows they were together. He still feels shocks along his skin, not unpleasant but strange, something familiar and again he can’t remember, and he manages to say, “Where’s Elizabeth?”
They all exchange looks, Keller with Rodney, Ronon with Teyla, and John realizes there’s something he’s missing.
Teyla’s hand squeezes his shoulder. She asks, far too gently: “John, do you not remember?”
And then, with the sick, sinking feeling that’s been with him for almost two years: he does.
**
This is what they tell him: There was an accident with the Stargate, an explosion. They knew only he would have rematerialized through a random Stargate at high velocity, and they had no way to know where. They never would have found him if they hadn’t received an incoming wormhole from the planet five days later—no IDC, but nine small strikes against the gate-shield, in a rhythm that Rodney taps out on the hospital table next to John’s bed: dit-dit-dit dah-dah-dah dit-dit-dit.
They found him almost thirty meters from the Stargate, lying out in the open in an arid landscape, unconscious, alive, with no other evidence of human life anywhere on the planet. His body shows evidence of a break across his spine that would have paralyzed him for life if the nerves hadn’t somehow remained intact, internal injuries that should have killed him long before he was rescued. Keller calls his potential for full recovery “astoundingly lucky.”
This is what he remembers: He was dying, slowly, alone, and then he wasn’t.
This is what he knows: Somehow, Elizabeth’s alive, and she saved him.
**
He also knows it’s crazy, of course. So does everyone else. Rodney calls it a hallucination, brought on by blood loss or head trauma. Ronon tells him that his mind gave him something to hold on to, a reason to fight through his injuries for a while longer.
Teyla says, “It is not uncommon near the point of death to be… visited, by loved ones,” and John turns over, rolling away from her, because he’d get up and leave if he wasn’t trapped in bed. Everything they’re saying is right, but it’s wrong and he can’t stand to listen to it.
He remembers: Elizabeth’s hand resting on his chest, real and warm, and the crushing pain lifted enough for him to breathe. Her voice—here, John, drink this—pouring cool water from somewhere between his parched lips. The night desert air was cold but she was warm, and he never had enough clarity to ask her how she got there, but he knows he’d never have survived five days on that planet in the shape he was in. He’d certainly never have made it to the DHD. Certainly would never have crawled back from the DHD to where Rodney says they found him.
Ronon says, “So maybe there was someone else on the planet, and they left before we got there.”
“There was,” John says, frustrated, because he knows how he sounds but she’s the only thing he remembers clearly. Someone else might have been there, but he was barely conscious enough to speak—he wouldn’t have been able to draw out a Stargate address, let alone explain Morse code to someone who didn’t already know it.
He wonders if he’s crazy—if he isn’t, he wonders where she went.
**
He remembers her saying, on the planet: I wish I could do more.
He remembers her saying, on Atlantis: You don’t get to die alone, John. Even if—we’re still with you, you know that.
Sometime after her first brush with nanites, after he nearly died in Kolya’s Wraith torture chamber, after neither of them had slept right in weeks, they found each other on the same lonely pier. They spent six hours talking, sitting side by side, looking out at the black ocean. She told him what happened to her, in a voice so raw he held his breath. He told her things too, dozens of sentences starting with I never thought I’d tell anyone, like there was a spell over both of them, like they were bound together out of time. He told her he wasn’t afraid to die, but he was afraid to die alone.
He remembers how she hugged him, how he wrapped his arms around her and promised himself he wouldn’t close up again, wouldn’t let her close up, because the last time he’d felt anything like this with someone—exposed, but safe—he’d married her. It was different with Elizabeth, of course. Their lives wouldn’t permit romance as anything but an occasional fantasy, but there was always something intimate between them. Elizabeth knew him. She trusted him. She stood by him, and she kept him honest. She made him feel whole.
And he hasn’t felt that, not once since he left her behind on the Asuran planet, until a Stargate explosion broke his spine and she was there, kneeling next to him with tears in her eyes, saving his life and saying I wish I could do more.
**
He’s finally released from the infirmary. It’s happened a few times since coming to Atlantis—too many—that he’s been away from his own room long enough that the first steps in feel surreal. A t-shirt over the back of a chair, a half-finished book he barely remembers on his nightstand—he’s changed so much since leaving those there that it feels like his room is lying in state, a monument to the John Sheppard he was the last time he got dressed here.
The feeing reminds him most sharply of the Cloister, of the time he spent six whole months angry and lonely and abandoned and then returned home the same day he left to a piece of chocolate cake from last night’s mess hall dinner wrapped up on the top of his dresser, still fresh.
He stops three steps inside his bedroom doorway, remembering the energy that crackled along his skin when he woke up in the infirmary, remembering—
He reaches for his earpiece, his radio, before remembering he’s still off-duty and not wearing it, rummages around until he finds—
“Rodney,” he says, and his hands are shaking. “She ascended.”
**
This time, John tells them everything he remembers, no matter how crazy it makes him seem, because it all makes sense now: how she looked like herself again, how he knew it was her, how she touched him and healed enough of his injuries to keep him alive, how she knew where to find him. How she disappeared afterward, without a trace.
She’s dead, but she’s free, and grief and relief are mashed up together. He thinks he’d walk through an exploding Stargate again right now if it meant he could hold her hand.
“I don’t get it,” Ronon says. “If these ascended people can do anything, why didn’t she heal you all the way?”
Teyla chimes in: “If Doctor Weir were aware of us with the power to intervene, would she not have done so before now?”
“The Others wouldn’t let her,” Rodney says, sounding annoyed the way he always does when he’s answering what he considers remedial questions. “Ascended beings aren’t supposed to meddle. She didn’t want to get caught. But if she helped you, maybe that means she’ll find other ways to help us—surely they wouldn’t notice if she happened to leave us a note? With the locations of a ZPN or two?”
“Rodney.”
“I’m just saying!”
“Wait,” Teyla says. “You said she would not want to get caught.”
Rodney crosses his arms. “Yes, I said that.”
“What would happen to her if she was?”
There’s a pause, then Rodney says, “Daniel Jackson had to interfere with a galactic war before the ascended Ancients in the Milky Way kicked him out. Saving one life might not even get her a slap on the wrist. She’ll be fine.”
**
Six days later, John wakes up in the middle of the night, and he knows.
**
He’s still not cleared for off-world duty and there are pressing emergencies requiring Atlantis’s resources, but John argues and badgers and sits in Woolsey’s office calling in every favor he can think of because he can’t let this be put on a mission schedule for next week or next month or when-we-have-time, what-evidence-do-you-have, wait-until-you’re-back-on-your-feet, even-if-you’re-right-you-don’t-even-know-where-she-is when he knows, he knows, he knows.
It’s Keller who ultimately turns the tide, telling Woolsey, “I think he needs to put this behind him.”
John doesn’t care what the rationale is, doesn’t care that the others are humoring him, because he gears up for the first time in six weeks.
The planet where he didn’t die is calm and quiet and looks familiar, even though he was barely conscious the last time he was here and there are no real landmarks to speak of. It’s empty, dusty and rocky, with only sparse low scrub for plant life and no water to speak of. John feels a chill go through him like—well, like he’s walking over what was almost his grave.
“Sheppard!” Rodney holds up his life-signs detector, and John picks up his own, and he forgets that his body is still knitting itself back together and he runs.
“Stay back,” he tells the others when he catches sight of something pale, huddled on the ground. Teyla hands him a blanket, and he tucks it under his arm as he approaches.
He can’t see her face, only pale skin and dark hair, and his heart is pounding. When he says her name it’s barely more than a whisper: “Elizabeth?”
She stirs, shifts until he can see her face, and he remembers, remembers everything about her he hasn’t been able to live without. He hears Rodney behind him—Sheppard, is it her?—but he can’t tear himself away long enough to answer, can’t do anything but cover her body with a blanket and sink to his knees, can’t do anything but feel. “Elizabeth—” He touches her cheek, real, real, real. “—can you hear me?”
Her eyelids flutter and slowly blink open. “Who…?”
“I’m John,” he says. “You’re going to be okay. You’re not alone.”
She whispers, “I don’t remember.”
He swears to himself that every day, every day, he’ll make it up to her. For leaving her, for all the years and pieces of her life she lost, for the afterlife she gave up to save him, for coming back. “It’s okay,” he promises. “You will.”

The Outliers - A Guildwars Love Story
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7, Chapter 8
Chapter 9
The following morning was cool and breezy. Kaleb slept off the effects of the alcohol and was - for the most part - sober. A couple of his buddies helped him get home without any issue and he managed to sneak back inside without his parents even being aware. He was also well aware that if his parents found out he had come home drunk, he would never have heard the end of it.
Kaleb made his way to downtown Claypool hoping to find the library. To his fortune he found that the building lay adjacent to the town college. He approached closer and could see throngs of students bustling in and out of the revolving doors, clumsily bumping into each other as they tried to squeeze into the all-too-narrow passageway.
On more than one occasion, his knees almost slammed into the faces of a couple of Asuran exchange students. As expected, they uttered a slew of perfunctory insults that were aimed at his large size.
Just what the hell is a 'booka' anyway? He pondered as he made his way past the librarian and towards the cataloging directory.
His eyes carefully scanned the various topics. There were certain ones he was specifically looking for, but was a bit too embarrassed to ask.
Non-fiction section - aisles 10 through 20;
    Reproduction - aisle 15.
    Romance - aisle 17.
He discreetly made his way towards aisle fifteen hoping to find some information. Scanning the titles, looked to see if anything matched what he was looking for.
Human reproduction, The Human Reproductive Cycle, Stress on the Human Reproductive System.
No, no, and nothing. He thought as he perused more titles.
Mating habits of Asuran.
Close but not quite. Let's see... cee, cee, cee. Ca, ce, ch. Change... Charge... Charr. That's it!
Charr: their Ecology, Physiology and Reproductive Cycle.
Mating Rituals of the Charr. Vol. XI.
Bingo!
He began to quickly flip the pages until he saw the topic he had been looking for. Interleaved amongst the Krytan text were several poorly drawn illustrations of what appeared to be two oversized cats in a mating position. As he began to read some of the text, he suddenly heard being called by an all-too familiar voice.
"Kal! Just what are you doing in a library of all places?"
Quickly snapping the oversized book shut, Kaleb turned around to face the individual in question.
"Oh. Uh. Hi Rachel. Aren't you supposed to be in school?"
"Hello, I'm between classes, moron! What are you doing here anyway? Mom sending you here to check on me?" His sister said sarcastically.
As he started to back away hoping she wouldn't see the incriminating book, he heard another sharp voice coming from below.
"Watch it! Clumsy bookah!"
The irate asuran darted right by him, its floppy ears brushing up against his hip.
"Sorry," he said as he tried to hide the book from yet another set of potentially prying eyes.
"Hey Glempt. Did ya find that book Ella was talking about?"
The small male elevated his oversized head then crossed his arms in a haughty gesture. "Hmph! I have come to the inescapable conclusion that dear miss Ella has been endeavoring every attempt to set me up for ruin. That girl will stop at nothing to be at the top of the class."
"Eh. No worries. You beat her out on the last exam. She can go suck on her pride."
"Okay. I gotta scat," Kaleb said as he made every effort to hide the book from his sister and the snooty Asuran. "Nice to meet you, Glempt."
"We never did..." the asuran replied arrogantly.
"Kal. What's the book in your hand anyway? Lemme see it!" She pleaded.
"It's nothing really. Just checking out a couple of books on culinary cuisines, that's all. Really boring stuff."
Kaleb knew his back was against a proverbial wall.
"Cuisines in the reproduction aisle? Um. You're just weird!"
Glempt turned around to look at the oversized human. "Charr: their Ecology, Physiology and Reproductive Cycle. Volume Eight is decidedly missing from the repository. I happened to observe the gap between the other titles. And. Ohh. The Mating Rituals of the Charr. Vol. XI. appears to have absconded as well. Very interesting!"
Nosey little big-eared twit! Kaleb thought to himself as he felt the walls closing in around him.
"Reproductive cycles of charr? Charr mating rituals? Ewww! That's just gross!"
"Shut your pie-hole, sis!" Kaleb snapped.
"Well. It is quite easy for me to deduce that your elder sibling is a bona fide pervert. I'm leaving!"
"Watch it bud! Otherwise I'll knock those shark teeth out of that fat head of yours!"
Moments later, the librarian came rushing over as she pointed her finger at the bickering trio.
"All of you... hush right this instant! Don't you people know where you are? I could practically hear you all the way down the hall. The next time any of you says anything above a whisper, I'm going to ask you to leave. Am I clear?"
Kaleb nodded. "Yes ma'am."
Rachel and the asuran nodded as well.
By the time the bickering was over, Kaleb had checked out some additional books, mostly on subjects involving cuisines and wagon making. He didn't want to give those who saw what he was checking out the wrong impression. As he got to the checkout desk, he noticed his sister standing behind him with her own set books. She made numerous ugly faces whenever he looked her way.
"Your card, sir." The librarian asked in a shrill, monotone voice.
Kaleb frisked his pockets then quickly realized that he didn't even have a card.
"I can't seem to locate it. Anyway, I can register for one?"
"Didn’t you mean to say, may I? But yes… a card will take three days to process. Do you have a valid ID?" The librarian was quick to correct Kaleb’s grammatical faux pas.
"No." He huffed.
"I'm sorry, sir. Without a proper ID, you cannot check out any of these books."
"Oh. Come on, ma'am. Yer talking to a local war hero here! Practically everyone in town knows who I am. Surely you know who I am, right?"
"You are holding up the line, sir. I will say this once more: you will need..."
Kaleb abruptly finished her sentence for her. "I know, I know. ...a proper ID, yadda, yadda, yadda."
"Rawarrr!" Rachel giggled while making a catcalling noise.
"Just stop it Rae!"
"Okay. Never mind, then. Sorry for wasting your time, ma'am."
As Kaleb was about to leave, his younger sister suddenly grabbed his stack of books then presented the librarian her ID card. She then looked up at him with a devilish grin.
"He's my brother. Here you go ma'am. I'll check them out for him," she said as she set her own books on top of the ones he wanted to check out.
Her older brother looked at her skeptically wondering what kind of angle she was trying to play.
"You're being generous all of the sudden. What's your game, sis?"
She just smiled and grinned. "Nothing."
As the Grimwald siblings left the library, Rachel shoved the books he wanted to check out straight into his midsection. "Here! You can have these nasty books. Pervert!"
"Rawarrrrrr! Rarrrwww!"
"By the wrath of Balthazar, that's annoying! You weren't being generous back there, were you? What's your angle?"
Rachel walked coyly beside her big brother and grimaced. "You muck out the stalls and clean out the troughs from now on."
"Or what? Tell mom?"
"That you've been checking out kitty porn? Try me!"
"You wouldn't dare."
"Rawarrr!"
"Maybe I should convince my new girlfriend to eat you. At least I won't have to put up with anymore of this nonsense," Kaleb said with a chuckle.
"So you admitted it. She is your girlfriend!"
"Not in the way you are thinking, sis. Our relationship is purely platonic. Do you even know what that big word even means?"
"Duh! Of course I do. So why the dirty books?"
"They aren't dirty. They're educational."
"Sure they are. Uh, huh. Whatever you say, brother." His sister gave a snarky laugh.
Kaleb grabbed her by her shoulder then pulled her in for a hug. "Y'know... in spite of being a royal pain in the backside, I still love ya, sis. Don't you forget it."
Giving him a slight hug in return, Rachel pressed up against his chest as she pointed towards a refreshment shop down the road. "Have you tried their beverages? They are out of this world!"
"Come to think of it, I could go for a little snack myself."
When they arrived home, Kaleb opened the front door for his sister. As she walked in, he leaned close to her ear and said in a hushed tone. "You promise not to tell our folks about those books."
"Promise to do my chores, then."
"Deal."
"Okay. Deal."
Rachel turned to her brother as she picked some flax seeds out of her teeth. "Yanno. I kinda felt self-conscious about eating that salad that I had ordered from that sylvari clerk. It felt like I was eating her cousin."
Kaleb couldn't help but laugh at his sister's comment as he commented. "I will never look at a salad the same way again."

Ask Game - Styran
[[Tagged by @prismaticaurene]]
― Your muse’s name: Styran (Mirage, one of two Commanders, and absolutely dead inside.
―  A favorite picture/face claim of your muse:
Tumblr media
― Two headcanons you have for your muse: Styran, after the Departing in PoF (being the only one out of the two Commanders to die), promptly left after giving their twin a plan and went to get therapy. They came back just as Long Live the Lich began, featuring a new outfit, skillset as a Mirage, and, courtesy of being overloaded by magic after all of those powerful magical beings’ deaths, glowing eyes where the magic spewed out.
Styran has had a variety of romantic relationships that have all ended pretty badly. As such, they now tend to steer clear of romance, especially after HoT when Trahearne, the idiot they were mutually pining after, died. They tend to put more effort into themselves and their platonic/familial relationships now instead.
― Three things that your muse likes doing in their free time: Reading/Writing: Styran was actually illiterate up until HoT. Catragna (their twin and fellow Commander) couldn’t join them in the jungle due to lack of spatial awareness, and given Cat was the one to read the letters after ripping them out of Styran’s hands, they never really needed to learn until then. Canach taught them how to whenever time was spare after a lot of teasing. The reading and writing keeps them in practice, as well as it being a calming thing to do. Explosions: Canach is to blame for this. Many times, citisens of Tyria would have been unable to sleep due to three idiotic siblings and many, many bombs in the distance. They find it surprisingly therapeutic. Relaxing: Styran doesn’t get much free time, so they try to spend it as nicely and relaxingly as possible. Often, their twin gets in the way of this.
― Seven people your muse loves/likes:
Catragna: Their twin, fellow Commander, best friend, and the idiot that shared their Wyld Hunt. They’ve been through a lot together. Styran is one of the few Sylvari Cat can still connect to through the Dream after being away from the Grove for so long, and honestly, Styran finds it hard not to appreciate Cat’s idiotic charm (despite how annoying it can be when she decides to dance in front of Abaddon statues and fall unconcious, leading to a DW manhunt).
Canach: During the Mordy fight, Canach, when fighting the Dragon’s influence, declared he was adopting the Twin Commanders as his siblings, though he later denies ever having said such a thing. He still calls them ‘brother’ and ‘sibling’, however. Their friendship is filled with sass and banter.
Aurene: She’s Dragon Watch’s collective daughter. Nuff said.
Trahearne: Before he died, there was a lot of mutual pining and unresolved romantic tension between Trahearne and Styran that built up after the friendship formed from Orr. They both agreed to talk about it after Mordremoth was defeated. Shame they never got the chance. It haunts Styran to this day.
Braham: They’re best friends. Although Braham is closer to their twin, and they’ve been through some rocky patches, ultimately, it’s a strong friendship. They’re both willing to help each other out, and Braham has threatened multiple people on account of them insulting either Commander.
Taimi: They’re both often dragging Cat out of some hairbrained scheme or another, and besides that are really good friends. After Styran got the hang of writing in New Krytan, Taimi even offered for her to teach them some Asuran. Ultimately, a nice, wholesom friendship.
Caithe: While this relationship too, has been rocky, mainly due to Caithe’s inability to not steal things, ultimately, Caithe and Styran are good friends now. Caithe basically knew Styran their whole life, after all, and their friendship is similar to Taimi’s.
― A phobia your muse has:
Nothing. Not that they aren’t afraid of anything, they are deathly afraid of the very concept of nothing. The idea of everything one day fading away, especially by their own fault terrifies them. It’s why they left after dying. Death was the closest they ever came to that inescapable nothing. And damn if they weren’t going to get some therapy for that. Tagged: @meepdrawsthings, anyone else who wants to do this I guess.

I am thinking it's a sign That the freckles in our eyes Are mirror images And when we kiss they're perfectly aligned
Something lil and cute for me feeling self conscious and anxious about all my rats tonight.
Anyway they were each other's first asuran friends, and they were each other's first crush and first romance. They may add more people in later, but they'll always have a special bond that started as two excited girls sitting on the floor in a cluttered bedroom, talking about their plans and dreams.

I figured a small snippet of what each of my characters did/how they spent valentines would be a neat, quick thing to do! Only sticking to the ones that are in committed relationships as- well, It would take me a while to get through 30+ characters :’>
Below the cut <3
Mel:
Being the rosy romantic that he is, he commissioned a bouquet of flowers weeks in advance for his partner Mafic. The kind of flora you’d only find thriving in hot, humid, volcanic regions. The whole thing was, naturally, a surprise, so Mel used that to his advantage; sending a vibrant bouquet of Fire Orchid Blossoms to your significant other, a prominent Inquest member, signed via an ‘anonymous admirer’ for all the Krewe to ponder over caused quite the stir. Mel delighted in knowing the embarrassment Mafic would have had to live with for the rest of the day, perhaps longer, given the enigmatic source of the flowers. It turns out that they’re displayed in Mafic’s study as of now, along with something else that conveniently slipped out of the bunch for all the Krewe to see!
Mokk:
Given that classes were briefly over due to the end-of-year assessments a plethora of students had passed, Professor Mokk had been left with an absurd amount of time to work on a number of things. One of which being establishing his own Krewe! They’ve yet to iron things out but things are looking up for him, his boyfriend, former student, brother and a new, remarkable lady that joined their ranks! She may be a mere teacher of Progeny but her diplomatic skills were insurmountable! Sadly, due to a little shake-up with his former student, Gwett, and a rather heart-breaking exchange, the majority of Valentines was the last thing on his mind. Fortunately, him and his partner Stemm spent the day being miserable together, snuggled in each other’s arms, leaving the comfort of their bed for nothing and nobody!
Seisyllt:
Having never done anything like this before, Seisyllt will have carted his partner Ripp around as many places with as many festivities as his roots would allow him to. Celebrations in Divinity’s Reach? Crash them! The Black Citadel and Hoelbrak? Not as lovey dovey as the rest but the sheer amount of jolly drunks were infectious, so each city they passed through would have resulted in a more and more inebriated Sylvari! Rata Sum was quite the surprise, couples being openly affectionate and...documents being exchanged with far more public frequency than you’d expect an Asura to do outside of private, well-moderated spaces. Finally arriving at their simple homestead on the outskirts of the Grove, nestled neatly into the protective, sturdy roots of a vibrant tree, the two would arrive home to Seisyllt’s final surprise! A plethora of heart-shaped balloons that were stamped with ‘Happy Birthday!’ due to his severely lacklustre understanding of the day’s festivities, the plant simply wanted his Earthy little Asuran boyfriend to see ALL of the pretty things.
Darnuii:
Now Sjoti? Spoiling him was hard. Just how did you make this day special for an Asura that had gold to spare and all the time in the world to indulge in his own hobbies whenever he liked? Dyes, food and a new pet were all out of the question, so what could make this day truly unique? Oddly enough, his source of inspiration was closer to home than he’d realised, even if he’d wracked his brain the previous day for that one special thing, when he’d finally given up, slumped near their mounts pens, the curious beak of Sjoti’s griffon, Kiwi, tussling about near his hair, made the decision rather obvious!
Rather than lovey-dovey romance, he’d taken the two of them out on his own, larger Griffon, Beryl, so that they could share a ride in the skies. Soaring over the golden deserts close to home and skimming the beautiful shores of Amnoon brought a kick of adrenaline to their sky-bound journey as they held each onto other tight, experiencing something that they could both enjoy, in a brand new way.
Wixx:
Being the greedy, histrionic character that he was, Wixx demanded that he be lavished or- well, at the very least expected it. Sadly it would seem he’d woken to an empty bed and a hard-at-work Reagg as per usual. Stubborn and slightly miffed at that fact, Wixx dedicated the majority of this special day all about love trying to divert Reagg’s attention away from his work and directly on Wixx. He utilised every ounce of subtle charm that he had, then even laid it on thick with little more than the quirk of an ear in response, so when he’d become jaded and, Alchemy end him, even took to posing across his husband’s workstation in naught but his nudity, it made Reagg’s gift all the better. Let’s just say it was Not Safe For the Workstation.

Part 3 baybeeee i realised that the babies I use more often these days werent included. Annoying elaboration that doesnt matter under the cut
Sex
Self explainitory
Gender:
Self explanatory
Build:
Singrid: The most in-shape member of her family. She’s very enthusiastic about honing her skills with her hammer, carving canoes with her bare hands, and punching sharks in the face.
Grunt: The grunt has been working on building muscle, but her years of starvation and abuse have left her permanently stunted.
Algor: Despite being absolutely fuckall massive, he’s not too interested in honing his physique. He’s got some scholarly chub on the way.
Poom: Actually more muscular than you’d give him credit for- though still malnourished and spindly. His baggy clothes are in part to hide a very embarrassing hourglass figure.
Height:
Singrid: Just a few inches shorter than her brother, much to her dismay
Grunt: Shorty due to malnutrition
Algor: Fuckall massive
Poom: Comes from a pretty tall family, but just so happens to me the shortest member of that family. He thinks he’s shorter than he actually is.
Handiness:
Self explanatory
Intelligence, Scholarly:
Singrid: While Singrid was offered the same education as her brother, she struggled with even the most basic concepts. At a certain point she decided her job was just to carry heavy equipment. Living proof of nature vs. nurture.
Grunt: Scouted by inquest recruiters as a child. The Grunt was subjected to the standard foot soldiers ‘education’ within the Inquest. It wasn’t all that great, but it wasn’t like she could leave.
Algor: Personally tutored by his adopted asuran father- surpassing the potential of even some asuran peers in Rata Sum. Living proof of nurture vs. nature.
Poom: Got along okay in school, enough to Graduate Dynamics with above average grades. His true passions lie in paranormal investigation, which isnt as revered in Rata Sum. People just assume he’s crazy.
Wisdom:
Singrid: Would look a grenade launcher down the barrel as she’s trying to figure out how to fire it.
Grunt: What the Grunt lacks in formal education, she makes up for in sheer experience. She’s worked on just about every Inquest base the Megakrewe allows such a low-ranking agent, and tangled with more bizarre magical creatures than most norn hunters will in their lifetime.
Algor: Algor began making supply runs in greater Tyria when he was sixteen, allowing him to come into his own as a traveller and genius.
Poom: Easily distracted and has a nasty habit of sharing his conspiracy theories to the members of the organisations he suspects. Common sense is not amongst his strengths.
Education:
Singrid: Technically a ‘drop out’, seeing as her father gave up on teaching her alongside her brother. However, the special attention Ruffik can give Singrid while Algor is away has convinced her to give his lessons another go.
Grunt: Didn’t so much as ‘graduate’ as she was drafted to punishment detail. Her propensity for disaster and mayhem did not make her school days enjoyable.
Algor: Greatly exceeded his father’s expectations.
Poom: A decent student, but easily distracted by his true passions.
Social Ability:
Singrid: Dreamed all her life of leaving the Far Marina Base to party all through Tyria, only to suffer from extreme social anxiety. She’s since found happiness on the peaceful ice caps, content with her few friends and family.
Grunt: Pretty amicable, if you can get over the whining and increased likelihood of the bar burning down.
Algor: Still relatively uncomfortable in his own skin, but growing out of it.
Poom: A highly contagious affliction and subsequent quarantine has given an already antisocial oddball agoraphobia. Poom has slowly been taking steps to be more comfortable with people, and can at the very least venture outside without a panic attack.
Perceptiveness:
Singrid: Sensitive, painfully sensitive, so sensitive she becomes overwhelmed in large gatherings. Is one of the few people who can really understand Ruffik’s emotions at any given time and could be mistaken for a mind reader when it comes to people she’s close to.
Grunt: Despite her attempt at an aloof bounty huntress persona, the Grunt is mostly in wilful denial. She knows whats going on, why it’s going on, and how things will probably end. She’s very bad at pretending not to care.
Algor: His time outside the Far Marina Base has taken him from clueless hermit to what is average teenage boy. He still doesnt understand girls, though.
Poom: Absolute dogshit at reading social signals, to the point of being near debilitating. His friends have to intervene to keep him from being beaten up half the time.
Readability:
Singrid: There are two Singrids: The one who is comfortable and knows the people in the room, and the Singrid who is in public and trying to keep from crying. You wouldnt expect the firey young norn from the FMB to wilt so easily in a crowd, and you’d be wrong.
Grunt: Any attempts to hide her emotions are humorously in vain. Its lucky her partner, krewemate, and totally-not-boyfriend is painfully dense.
Algor: Can put up a pretty convincing stoic front. It’s when he opens his mouth the youthful bravado comes spilling out.
Poom: His high anxiety and odd mannerisms make him an open book. An open book in a language you cant read, but nonetheless open.
Introvert/Extrovert:
Self explanatory
Sexuality:
Singrid: Straight
Grunt: Straight
Algor: Bisexual
Poom: Pansexual with a male preference
Romanticism:
Singrid: Straight, Monogamous
Grunt: Straight, Monogamous
Algor: Biromantic, Open to Polyamory
Poom: Panromantic with a male preference, Monogamous
Romantic:
Singrid: Has a massive crush on her childhood friend, but he’s painfully oblivious.
Grunt: Hopelessly in love with her partner, friend, and krewemate, Anakk. Even though they live together, work together, provide each other with emotional support, and sleep together exclusively, they insist they are not in a relationship.
Algor: Would do anything for a partner to share his intellect, but is still too insecure to ask anyone out. There’s also the size factor- none of the other apprentices so much as reach his knee. That ‘tragedy’ is a bit romantic in its own right- according to him.
Poom: Is oblivious to romance, and hasnt had the best track record. His last relationship ended in nothing short of catastrophe, he’s still too ashamed to face his ex to stay long in Rata Sum. This has kept him rather guarded when it comes to relationships.
Affection:
Singrid: Very touchy. Will shamelessly pick up and snuggle anyone she cares about.
Grunt: Has a pointed distaste for ‘mushy stuff’ and goes out of her way to avoid any intimacy that could be construed as romantic.
Algor: Mostly only hugs his sister. Was more cuddly as a kid, but since the growth spurt he worries about accidentally crushing people.
Poom: Has gone three years without touch due to his affliction. Avoids touch like the plague so as not to become overwhelmed.
Disposition, Outwardly:
Singrid: Whether she’s in full swing or shyly hugging the wall, Singrid comes across as a friendly, if not rough around the edges- young norn.
Grunt: Affable and friendly until things go wrong. They’re usually going wrong.
Algor: Knows how to be polite in public. Snarks on occasion.
Poom: Absolute bastard of a man. You know this. Why even ask.
Disposition, Inwardly:
Singrid: Pretty neutral on people as a whole. Gets irritated easily, and doesnt have any kind words for people who make her uncomfortable.
Grunt: Is far more effected by her past than she lets on. The grunt is generally distrustful to strangers and spiteful to those who hurt her- even a little.
Algor: Has a healthy dollop of teen angst.
Poom: One of the more kindly people you’ll meet, once you get past his eccentricities. Genuinely doesnt want to upset anyone, and is a die hard pacifist.
Petty:
Singrid, Grunt, Algor: All petty little drama queens.
Poom: Will put up with a lot of bullshit, so long as you dont press one of his triggers. Can only really muster the energy to hate one thing at a time. Usually tries to solve ‘misunderstandings’ when they come up.
Sanity:
Singrid: Crippling social anxiety
Grunt: PTSD
Algor: He’s fine, honestly.
Poom: Autism, PTSD, Depression, Social Anxiety, Agoraphobia, probably more.
Freindliness:
Singrid: She knows who she likes, and isnt particularly eager to make new friends.
Grunt: Finds it relatively easy to get along with people, especially if theres alcohol involved. She has a strange habit for attracting the affections of much larger and more powerful beings. Anakk, her skyscale Mr. Bastard, and the hulking inquest abomination Brukk, to name a few.
Algor: Able to chat up strangers so long as he’s not feeling too self-important. He’s growing out of that bit, though.
Poom: Absolutely desperate for validation. Can and will join a cult if he’s not claimed.
Stoicism:
Singrid: Will break pretty easily either from her anxiety or by getting too excited about a cool rock.
Grunt: Attempts are made at stoicism. They are laughable.
Algor: Is prone to teen melodrama. He’s growing out of it, though.
Poom: Will go home and cry for stepping on a bug.
Grace:
Singrid: Her training in the harsh Far Marina conditions have made her an adept warrior.
Grunt: Prone to disaster.
Algor: Is actually quite a talented dancer when no one’s watching. One of the ways he tries to stay in shape between studies.
Poom: If he’s not knocking something over, he’s putting his foot in his mouth.
Stubbornness:
Self explanatory
Bravery:
Singrid: Despite her issues with crowds, she’s run after icebrood twice her size with nothing but a dagger. Has wanted to cultivate an epic legend ever since she was a kid.
Grunt: Complete snivelling coward.
Algor: Will run from conflict as easily as he runs from a spider.
Poom: An almost destructive lack of self-preservation.
Loyalty:
Singrid: The few companions she has, she aims to keep.
Grunt: Wont die for the ship, but will save her favourite pirate.
Algor: Still has somewhat naive opinions on teamwork in a krewe. It’s almost a good thing he’ll likely never be in one.
Poom: Not a lot of people understand him, those that try are greatly appreciated. Even people who dont try, he’ll gladly meet half way. Even if you dont even like him at all he’s got your back. Even if you’ve just spit in his mouth he’ll-
Lawfulness:
Singrid: Does what she wants. If that means breaking some heads, she’ll do it. If it means drinking tea and brushing up on her knitting, thats her glitching right!
Grunt: Rules are for people who don’t regularly get hit by lightning.
Algor: Painfully naive.
Poom: The rules suck, but he gets in trouble enough as it is without provoking others.
Attitude:
They’re all edgy assholes lol
