So I saw someone talking about how Tal is playing Melora and it got me thinking. I posted a smaller version of this on Twitter but wanted to expand on it here.

The person mentioned how Tal's portrayal of her is weird to them because Melora has been shown to us as being a comforting breeze on the wind and a warm mother's hug (especially in Campaign 2) and so viewed her as such. And while nature has also been described as the cycle of life and death and has its times of decay and destruction, it is ultimately portrayed as a mostly positive force. So to see Tal's portrayal be so gangly and dark and eccentrically wild is a little surprising at first.

However! The world has been wracked by the Calamity. The sun seems to be blocked out and people and animals alike have died as the gods war around them. Calamity has brought destruction on Exandria, its people and its lands, and that includes nature.

Taliesin is simply portraying the Wild Mother as a reflection of what nature has had to become in these dire times.

So barbatos has a more or less emotionless stare.

I would feel like he's judging me every time he glanced my way. Like don't get me wrong, I love him and I would chill with him but his stare would make me question things. One day I would say "stop judging me, I do that to myself already"

I also saw people saying he can read minds like no. Please tell me he can't. I think of crimes against the government and humanity, he can't know. A majority of them are intrusive, I swear.

LOL well I don't think it's canon for him to be able to read minds, so I think you're probably good there?

I think a lot of people see him as this all powerful mystery being (which he is), but we also don't have fully defined parameters for what he can actually do. I don't think he's ever officially read anyone's mind, but he's incredibly perceptive and he can often tell what people are thinking or feeling without having to be told.

I think Barbatos is more judgemental of other demons than he's ever been of MC. He may not fully understand everything about you, but I don't think he'd be actively judging you. He seems to be rather indulgent of MC in particular. Though I also think if you actually told him not to judge you, he'd probably be surprised. Like I would never dream to do such a thing, MC.

He's just got that expression that never changes - even his smile is somewhat subdued. But if he thought it was bothering you, he would make an effort to emote more lol.

Not to be a buzz kill but I think the tiktok is just making fun of herself for how stupid that tattoo is in comparison with the other people from the trend who are all talking about meaningful tattoos. Because the point of the trend is to put a picture of the person that tattoo reminds you of so for Gabby that's the egg 😂 I'd like to know the story behind the tattoo though, is there like an inside joke or something? I fail to see the thought process behind it

Oh no, this TikTok is about Jojo being the one who did the tattoo and Gabby getting to talk about her every time someone asks her about it. And it works for all the tattoos Marine has given Gabby (Pac-Man, egg and left leg). They're silly tattoos that people are going to wonder about, and they're going to give Gabby a chance to talk about her wife.

I finished ToG first book...

Honestly idk how to feel about so many things. I'm not that attached to the characters and the plot and if this was from any other author, I would've dnf'ed the series from here but this is sjm and I know at the end of the day, I'm gonna enjoy reading her series.

Aelin used to be on my nerve for like the first half of the book but not anymore, now I feel neutral about her.

Dorian is way too inexperienced and he's living in his own world. I expected to love him from the first book but like Aelin I feel neutral and I'm waiting for the rest of his story.

Chaol was the only character that made me intrigued actually. He is the only one who acts like a grown up lol I think I was focusing on him more to see why everyone hates him so much and only came up with him being strict and serious and the only one with common sense...

ps: These are all my thoughts on the first book and my opinion will definitely change.

I am up at 8AM on Christmas and the first thing I think about is how in the fountain scene when Randy was talking about the liver in the mailbox, Tatum throws food at him and tells him she's eating.

But when Stu was explaining how to gut someone, Tatum didn't bat an eye and was ACTIVELY PUTTING FOOD IN HER MOUTH WHILE HE WAS TALKING.

call me delusional but even if I were to take my shipper goggles off I'd still come to the conclusion that Vash and Knives were originally created to be together. There must be a thought behind it why the plant gave birth to twins with opposing powers and personalities. Creation vs destruction. God complex vs hero complex. Outgoing/energetic vs. solitary/reserved. Curious vs. cautious. Extreme selfishness that ends in the destruction of those around you for your own self-preservation vs extreme selflessness to the point of self destruction. Vash loves everything and everyone and would sacrifice himself for it (he cares too little for himself) while Nai has all his love directed into one direction: his brother (and as a result he cares to little for others). They are Yin and Yang. Vash and Knives' strenghts and weaknesses compliment each other. On their own they are a little bit too much and not quite enough. They are soulmates in every way. That's why I can't see Trigun ending happily if one of them dies and the other one has to live on without their other half. There needs to be a balance. Nai and Vash need each other to function properly. And so does the world.

Vying for Versailles is frustrating because it feels like there was a good story in there, but then someone decided to cut out all of the good filler (i.e. character and relationship development), so now characters just speedrun through the events of the book as if they are in a race to hit the next vital plot point as fast as possible.
