Danyal Al Ghul: Incorrect Quotes and Miscellaneous Thoughts
Incorrect quotes-style snippets specifically for my danyal al ghul au here (which i really need to come up with a unique au name for atp). Because I thought it'd be funny. And also some miscellaneous headcanons thrown into the mix.
Some context for the au:
- Danyal is 5 years older than Damian (so 10 and 15)
- Danny faked his death when he was 10. Talia knows and helped him with it.
- Jazz, Sam, and Tucker do not know he's an ex-assassin.
--------
Snippet 1
Danny, dryly tapping his temple: I have, as the Americans say, irreparable psychological damage, right here.
Jazz, an older sibling first and foremost: well, it's good that you're self-aware.
--------
Snippet 2
Danny, aged 10, in the American foster planning to just age out of the system: *emanating Bad Vibes. Pure, Little Orphan Tom Riddle Energy*
Jazz, aged 12, coming in to adopt a new sibling with her parents: Him. This is my brother now :)
Danny: ...what
--------
Lilo and Stitch is Danny's favorite Disney movie. He watched it when he was 11 with Jazz when she was attempting to connect with him, and by this point Danny was becoming receptive to her efforts. They had a movie marathon in the living room one night.
Safe to say? It resonated with his little 11 year old heart strongly, and he related very strongly with both Nani and Stitch. He got unexpectedly emotional and hid in his room for the rest of the night. Jazz felt really bad, but it had the intended (but kinda unexpected) effect of him trying to be nicer to her afterwards.
--------
Snippet 3
Dash, aged 12, causing trouble again and getting intercepted by Danny: *scaling up a desk* AHHHHH! GET YOUR LITTLE FREAK, FOLEY!
Tucker: Hey! Danny is not a freak!
Dash: GET HIM TO BACK OFF
Tucker, was the kid Dash was messing with: ....whats in it for me
--------
Snippet 4
Danny, saying some questionably immoral shit: What. Why are you looking at me like that.
Tucker: Bro. I mean this as kindly as possible; what the fuck?
Sam: yeah, I'm with Tuck on this one.
--------
Snippet 5
Danny, ranting about Vlad: if it weren't for the laws of this land, I would have slaughtered him
Sam, painting his nails black: I'm pretty sure you'd slaughter him regardless of the laws of the land -- and quit moving, you're gonna mess me up.
Tucker: we've literally seen you debate yourself about this, Dan
Danny: ...you are correct, but it is the principle of things.
--------
Snippet 6
Vlad: I have experience my child, and the money and power attained through using those powers for personal gain, you say. I could train you, teach you everything I know! And all you have to do is renounce that idiot adoptive father of yours.
Danny, was already contemplating committing a Violence: ....
Danny, internally: I'm going to stab him *turns into Phantom*
--------
Funny contrast I realized between Danyal and Vlad that iirc I haven't pointed out yet is that imo, Danyal doesn't rely on his powers nearly half as much as canon Danny does. He falls back instinctually on his League training, and thus sometimes forgets to use his powers in battle. This was prevalent especially early on when he was still getting used to the whole 'halfa' thing.
He incorporates them more often after a year, but still for the most part relies on his own physical hand-to-hand combat. He trusts those skills much more than he does his powers. I'm not sure where he is on a technical level compared to canon, but just to stay safe I'll say he's similar in power skill as canon Danny. Perhaps a little more finessed than him because his League training would probably have him trying to figure out his powers as soon as possible.
But in summary? Danny is strong in hand-to-hand combat, weak in powerset.
Meanwhile Vlad is the opposite. I can't recall if he even knows hand-to-hand in canon, but it makes total sense to me that Vlad Masters wouldn't because he's so confident in his monetary influence and ghost abilities that he sees no need for it.
And he's kinda got some merit behind it. He's very powerful and has 20 years of experience to experiment and fine tune his powers. He's got bite to follow up his bark. He's perfected long-range combat and his ability to phase through walls makes it impossible to corner him, but if you can manage it, then one good hit could probably knock him on his ass.
So in summary, Vlad is strong in powerset, weak in hand-to-hand combat.
And it casts a good contrast between the two of them in that regard. Danny, as a fellow halfa, can follow Vlad when he phases through walls and is fast enough to land a hit on him. His league training as an assassin, albeit rusty, is still deep ingrained enough in him that he can hold up as a rather veritable threat against Vlad without needing his powers.
But Vlad can force Danny to use his powers more often through use of his own. The duplication is the first thing to come to mind: Danny's fast enough to dispel them on his own without powers, and smart enough that he could figure out who the real one is if given a few minute. But that's not always efficient enough.
Good foils for each other that way. Also Vlad's Plasmius design mimics Ra's juuust enough that he looks like Ra's knockoff loser second cousin no one talks about, which only fuels Danny's hatred.
--------
Snippet 7
Danny, ranting about Vlad for the first time: --and it's only made worse by the fact that the little ingrate resembles a cheap knock-off of my grandfather!--
Sam, choking on her water: he what--
Tucker, doing a spittake: HE DOES?

I still reel back over the fact that FireStar not only feels bad for TigerStar after he’s killed, but actively wishes that they had his strength in the battle against Bloodclan, who he now sees as a worse enemy, viewing Scourge in a even more deplorable light than Tigerclan and TigerStar
let me repeat that: FireStar feels bad for Tiger-“I can finally enact my plan of executing half clan cats in order to purify my new and improved Tigerclan and in the process, I will make an empty promise to this group of foreigners and take advantage of their desperation for food and a better life”-Star when he’s dead because of how he died at the hands of a non-clan cat. Now setting his fucking sights on destroying a foreigner group that’s introduced at the last second in an attempt by the writers to diverge attention away from the fact that the most dangerous villain - who actively wants to execute cats based on their lineage and “impure blood” so that a perfect clan can be made -that has been a looming threat throughout the entire series up to this point is a fucking clan cat.
Because god forbid we have the good guys defeat a horrible cat from their own society, because that would imply that something is wrong and needs to be fixed about this society! And we just can’t have that, no no no! We gotta shove a “scary murderous group of foreigners who are loyal to a cat who hates families” into the story! Because remember what FireStar says kids: Foreigners are the real enemy and our superior society never ever breeds any horrible individuals ever! Also our religion makes us better!
And by the way this is after he entirely, actively acknowledges TigerStar’s crimes against humanity through giving this big ass speech to everybody. This series has always been awful, The Prophecies Begin has shit writing, always has and always will

Love and hate can sometimes cross wires - DPXDC Ficlet
She props her up against the far wall, and kneels before her, fingers deceptively gentle against her cheek. Danyal is cold and trembling, her once bronze skin now dull. She meets her other half— self— sister— mother— predecessor’s eyes, and they are still wet. But now they are sharp, focused on Her face.
Danyal takes a shuddering breath, one that wracks itself down her spine. One that She can feel sinking into her — their? — shared soul. “You’re going to kill me.” She says, matter of fact, something like grief choking in her voice, making it shake.
She blinks at Her mother—sister—friend— predecessor, a feeling She knows is horror but thinks is hatred filling up Her lungs. Her cool palm trails kind down to her throat, Her talon fingers wrapping around the fragile skin. With very little effort, She could break her little neck. “Yes.” She murmurs, a sound only the two of them can hear. “I am.“
Her mother-sister-other half— predecessor shudders again, and yet makes no sound. Simply goes limp with acceptance in her arms. She doesn’t bother to even fight; she looks tired. Make it quick, it’s like she says.
I will. She promises, running the gentle padding of Her thumb along her jugular. It’s the only mercy She thinks She’ll ever give. But first…
“Give me a name?”
(Mother— sister— mine—) Danyal stares at Her, confusion parting her slowly paling lips. There’s silence between the two, thickening the air like the rise of an oncoming storm. Hurt and rage begins to toil beneath Her skin. Was the thought of naming Her so abhorrent, that she’d rather not say a thing at all? Her name is nothing?
Before She can take Her anger out, Danyal breathes in sharp. The sound is painful, jarring like jags of broken glass. She raises a hand, her palm — rough and calloused, proof of her fourteen years of life, of hardship — finds Her cheek too. It’s almost loving, the way Danyal swipes her thumb across Her skin, her clammy fingers tucking a strand of hair behind Her ear.
An emotion sweeps across her, boiling and toiling, burning hot and consuming her whole. Thick, bubbling in her throat, curling behind her teeth and under her tongue and tinging her peripherals with spots. An overwhelming emotion.
It must be hatred, she thinks. What other feeling can encompass one so much?
When Danyal breathes out, so with it comes a name; “Layal.”
Danyal always did love the nights.
(If you ask the Mother of Monsters why she killed Danyal al Ghul, she’ll tell you it was because she loved hated her.)

"apparently he killed someone" I say this in all seriousness. jakurai was a med student who became a hired assassin for the government in the war. he has killed countless people and we will never know how many. he now has a savior complex and is determined to be the opposite of his past self. he is the top doctor at his hospital but because hypmic loves being vague as hell he is like everything ever. surgeon, every kind. pediatrician, doctor for adults, every kind of doctor except therapist (he sucks at that<3)
he has an adopted son who has been in a coma for like 5 years because his ex-friend-now-friend-again-kind-of ramuda put him in one bc the son found out ramuda was doing bad things
so he is a dilf. and barbie the doctor. and an ex contracted killer. also he rap battles people to injure and heal them.
don't get into hypmic my brain hurts
?/¤%=&?/¤=%&?(=¤%?&(=¤?%&(=¤%?&(=? HELLO???????????????????????? WHAT THE FUCKwait i love him.

I've created too many overly detailed headcanons about Barry's life outside of Rafe
Like full family history-- he has a huge family but it's mostly dudes, his dad and brothers and uncles are all cunts and super bigoted, when he came out as bi they called him a sissy and shipped him to the military to "man the fuck up", the enviroment was so fucking toxically masculine- his mom was just trying her best, teaching him and his older sister (who he loves) to take care of themselves, teaching them spanish so she could speak to them in private, etc. Literally the only people in his family he still actively chooses to speak to out of care rather than obligation is his mom, his older sister, and a pair of aunts.
He doesnt have many close friends, but his best friend is a queer sex worker who he met on the job, likes to take care of her, gives her a place to stay when she needs it, gives her money when she asks for it, gives her her drugs for free when she needs to wind down. They talk shit, she's the only person he gets to sufficiantly ramble to about Rafe, she gives him advice- its very sweet. (Rafe is so violently jealous of this woman, he needs to be kept at a 15 foot distance and Barry has to explain 20 times over that theyve never slept together and that they're just friends and that shes ABSOLUTELY not a threat cause hes not even close to her type lol. Also the three of them trip together once and Rafe takes his first hallucinagen with this random lady and his boyfriend lol, but after it he finally accepts that shes not a threat)
He has like... a deep need to take care of people? Which mostly funnels into taking care of Rafe, but he'll take any oppurtunity to take care of people he thinks deserves it (mostly... women- this man has such a soft spot for women, especially older women, he'll do anything to help em out, take care of em, whatever they need- can you tell he was a mamas boy?)
When he was younger (like early 20s) he dated a woman in her 40s and tbh- mightve been one of his best relationships before Rafe. A little boring for him, but he keeps in contact with her to check in at times (don't tell Rafe.)
He keeps in contact with a couple of the guys he was stationed with in the military, but he's only really close with one, unsurprisingly a gay guy who *ahem* was a regular for him when they were stationed together, and he gives him free weed and shrooms for the shit being in the army left him with.
This man's tiny friend group is just radicalised queers and his sister lol
