Morning Flowers 💐
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: FlowerShopOwner!ChoiSan x Reader  Genre: Little shop of horrors AU/Fluff Word Count: 2.2k+ Plot Summary: You’ve recently heard rumors about a mysterious flower shop that just opened up. You decide to go check out the shop wanting to get some new plants for your home. Little do you know the owner catches your attention more than the store (and possibly your heart) Warnings: Depictions of self-harm towards the end (reader discretion is advised!!), slight mentions of murder A/N: Part one of my first series is here! I was thinking about the time San said that if he wasn’t an idol he would be a flower shop owner. Not only is that very fitting, it also makes a great fic idea. Also spicing up the idea making it Little Shop of Horrors related cause I love the musical a lot. I’m not sure how many parts I plan to make with this but enjoy the first chapter!  Little Shop on 8th Street Masterlist Ateez Masterlist
~~~
“This looks like the place…” you softly say to yourself as you drive past a flower shop. You find a parking spot near the shop and prepare to go inside.
You didn’t even know there was a flower shop this way until your friend brought it up on last night’s FaceTime conversation. She told you about the rumors coming from the shop. Certain customers would disappear after a few visits with the shop being the last place they were seen at. In the moment you laughed and brushed it off as a silly conspiracy theory, but you got a little curious after the call. You looked into the shop further and found no actual evidence. There was only word of mouth and conspiracy Reddit threads on the topic. Still, you needed some new plants for your apartment so you decided to check out the shop the next day.
And here you were now. Standing in front of the flower shop with a sign in bright red letters “Little Shop on 8th Street.” An interesting name for a flower shop. You walk inside the flower shop taking in the scenery inside. It looks like a typical flower shop with different types of flowers in glass displays, other plants scattered around the shop as decoration, and flower food and tools neatly lined up on the shelf displays. It does live up to its name not being a big shop, but the setup makes the inside feel like a plant nursery. You also noticed that not all the products were flowers looking at the green plant displays. You look around some more, feeling overwhelmed by the options around you.
You find yourself drawn to a bouquet of yellow flowers. The flowers look like they had just bloomed and have a faint smell of apricot.
“Beautiful aren’t they?” You hear a voice behind you say. You jump at the sound of his voice and turn to face the man as your eyes meet
You start to examine the man that came up behind you. He’s tall and muscular with his hair colored black. The hair is slicked back with some strands sticking out framing his face, which you move to next. His face has many sharp features but his smile softens those features. He has a warm gentle smile, a smile that comforts you, makes you feel secure. You move down to notice his nametag that says “San” decorated with flowers and Sanrio stickers.
“Sorry to startle you,” San says breaking you from your trance. “I noticed you were staring at these flowers for a while.”
“Yeah, they’re beautiful. Can you tell me more about them?” you say, stumbling on your words a little in the process.
“Of course! These lovely flowers are begonias. They make great houseplants and are great to put by windows. They love the sun and tropical climates the most. You may have noticed they smell a little like apricot. They tend to emit that scent during the summer season. If you’re wondering how long they last, typically 2-3 years. It all depends on where you grow them and how you care for them!”
You notice how San’s face lights up as he explains the simple flowers in front of you. You can tell he’s passionate about his work and knows a lot about the subject.
You walk over to another batch of flowers that caught your eye. “What about these?” you ask pointing to the purple flowers.
“Those are African Violets! They are one of my favorites here. They also make great houseplants and respond well to room-temperature environments. If you are considering getting these, just keep in mind the soil must be evenly moist. And avoid getting water on these cute fuzzy leaves. They won’t be fuzzy anymore and will turn an ugly brown color. I also have some in a ruffled pattern and a white color pattern. Highly recommend these especially if you’re looking for an easy plant to grow.”
“Oh, nice!!” You take note of those flowers for later and move on to the plant next to them. “These also look interesting.”
“That is a pothos plant! I love the multi-colored leaves on this plant. It can help add some variety if you have a lot of solid green plants. These are also low maintenance. They only need to be watered once or twice a week. They also grow great in low-light environments. If you’re looking to use them as a house decoration, I would recommend hanging them up for the best results!”
You continue talking with San about the different plants in the shop and he eagerly explains every plant you ask about. You aren’t completely clueless about plants, but you love hearing him explain each type of plant and how to take care of them. The way he explains everything with passionate energy makes you smile and intrigues you enough that you want to hear more. Eventually, the conversation moves away from plants and you begin to learn about San.
He tells you that he’s moved around for years now. He owns the shop (no wonder he knows so much) and has mainly lived in big cities.
“I don’t like the cities that much. I get a lot of customers, but it’s overwhelming living in large cities. That’s why I wanted to move to a smaller town. It’s so peaceful and I have more time to care for my plants properly,” San explains.
“I understand. It’s the only reason I haven’t moved out of here yet. This town is a bit boring at times, but the peacefulness makes up for it,” you respond.
San starts to ask about you as well. You tell him about how you’ve lived in this town your whole life and are jealous that he got to explore many different places. You start talking about your job a little and about your hobbies. The conversation flows so naturally you forget what you came in for in the first place. You find out you and San have very similar interests, especially when it comes to Sanrio products.
“Between us, I have a huge collection of Sanrio plushies. They are nice to sleep with and I love the cute character designs.” San tells you.
“Oh same with me! I collect a whole lot of plushies and fuzzy toys. Don’t tell anyone this, but I used to be a big Furby collector back in the day.”
“No way! Seriously? You used to collect those creepy little birds?”
“They aren’t creepy, they were adorable to me at least! And I sold most of the ones I owned a long time ago. I still have a few left I keep for sentimental reasons.”
“Never knew why people liked those things so much. Isn’t it weird that they stare right into your soul? Who knows what evil things they could be plotting behind those eyes.”
You laugh hearing San’s response. “Well, it’s not like they were going to take over the world or overthrow the government. Although, it would be funny wouldn’t you think? A Furby revolution?”
“Alright, no more Furby talk. Have you decided which plants you want for your house?”
Right, you came in here to buy plants, not to chat it up with the store owner. Although, you weren’t sure if you wanted to buy anything anymore. You wanted an excuse to come see San again. But you would feel bad if you didn’t get something, especially after he talked a lot about these plants. You end up getting seeds for the African violets and a succulent plant you saw. You also get the soil and pots you need for the plants and head to the register to check everything out.
“Anything else I can get you? Maybe some plant fertilizer from our selection here?” San says as he gestures towards the glass display at the register.
“Oh, that’s alright!” You respond. But you’re thinking to yourself “Maybe I can get your number and a date—” being very careful to not say it out loud.
“Great! Then here is your total for everything. Just follow the instructions on the keypad.”
You tap your card to pay for your new plant materials. As San is processing the payment you notice out the corner of your eye a door with a glass window. Through the window, you vaguely see a plant that you don’t think you saw anywhere in the store. You don’t think you’ve seen that plant in your life. You’re curious and turn to San. “What’s the plant in the room over there? Why isn’t it out here with the rest of the plants?”
San freezes. It seems he wasn’t prepared to answer that question. Or maybe he forgot about the plant in the room across from the register. Whatever it was, he took a breath before answering.
“Oh, that is… a special plant of mine. It’s one of a kind but it grows like a weed so I try to keep it away from the rest of the plants. Trust me that’s… not a plant you want in your home. Or anywhere…” San hesitantly answers. His answer about the plant was different from his other answers. The answer didn’t have the same passion he had before. It seemed that he didn’t want to talk about the plant. You decided not to question him further and take your stuff off the register.
“Please come back again! I enjoyed talking with you today!” San says before you leave.
“Same here! I will definitely be back. I’d love to hear you talk about these plants more!” You respond smiling.
You walk out of the shop realizing you were in there longer than you thought. Thankfully you went in the morning so it was late afternoon when you finally left the shop. You get back in the car with your new houseplant projects. You recount the day you had with San and didn’t find anything suspicious about the shop other than the weird room with the seemingly large plant. Although it was weird San was reluctant to answer the question about the plant, it wasn’t anything that rang any alarm bells. Maybe it was just an annoying plant. You drive off to your home, excited to add these new plants to your collection, and your mind on the pretty flower shop owner San.
~~~
San has a couple more customers come in after you leave. After the last customer leaves it’s evening time and San officially closes the shop and locks the door. He then goes to the back room, the room with the plant you had asked about.
“Finally you’re back! You got any fresh meat for me?” The plant says as San walks into the room.
“No, I don't have any real food for you today. You’re going to have to suck it up and take my blood today.” San responds, seeming very annoyed.
“Aww come on! All those customers and not one you’re willing to sacrifice?”
“I hope you realize that some people are starting to get suspicious. I can’t pick any random person to feed to you.”
“Tough titty.”
San rolls his eyes as he picks up a knife nearby and cuts into his left arm. He holds the arm above the plant as the plant sucks up all the blood dripping from San.
“I can’t survive on your blood forever. I need real human meat soon!” The plant says.
“You’ll get your ‘real food’ soon I promise. I have to lay low for a little while. I think someone filed a missing persons report on the last person I gave you. Probably what’s started all the rumors online.” San says as he gets bandages to wrap over his arm.
“What about that girl that came in here earlier asking about me? The Furby girl?”
“You heard that??”
“I hear everything. This shop ain’t that big sweet cakes.”
“Fair. And no, under no circumstance are you allowed to even touch her.” San starts to get more annoyed with the plant at the mention of you.
“But, she would taste delicious. Could last me at least a week and a half!”
San’s annoyance starts to turn into anger. He doesn’t know why he’s feeling this way about you. He just met you today, yet he can’t get you out of his mind. And he was just starting to get to know you, he doesn’t want that to disappear. He finishes wrapping the bandage around his arm and walks to the plant.
“If you do as much as lay a vine on that girl, I will not hesitate to rip out your roots and chop up every part of you until there is nothing left. Am I clear?” San says in a more sinister tone.
“Hmph, fine. Better fetch me a finger-licking good meal flower boy.” The plant responds in a condescending tone.
“Goodnight Audrey.”
San walks out of the room and heads to his apartment above the flower shop. He lands on his couch exhausted, wondering why he’s still taking care of that plant. But all of that doesn’t matter. All San is hoping as he drifts to sleep is that you don’t become his next victim, no matter the cost.

Police detective San
Genre: Angst, Horror, Drama, Fluff, Strangers to Lovers, Mature scenes and language
Words: 7.8k
You thought breaking up with your boyfriend would be simple. After six months together, four of them showed you how much of a psychopath a person can be. However, when you saw on the news that several women died with features similar to yours, you assumed it was a coincidence. When the first letter arrived in the mail, you knew you were screwed. The cops eventually became involved with your life. One detective, Choi San, was assigned to be your personal bodyguard. He was confident you were safe, but the darkest evil always finds its way into someone's home.
"I've told you about a thousand times, stop calling me! I don't know how you manage to reach my number over and over! Just stop it!"
I hung up the phone, again, and rubbed my tired eyes. It was 2 a.m. and I was severely stressed. My ex, Jaehyun, has been calling me for about a month now, trying to get back together with me. Never in a million years did I think we would end up in this position. It was almost perfect for about two months. We met randomly in a cafe when I spilled my drink on his shirt. After apologizing profusely, he told me I could make it up to him with a date, and I did just that.
We had it good, seeing each other almost every day, texting until the sun came up, going around and exploring various places... It all came to an end when he started changing. It was like he became a completely different person. There were times when I feared he would become violent, but luckily he managed to bang up almost every surface of mine and his apartment, instead of my face.
After I gently broke up with him, he seemed fine. How wrong of me to assume something like that. I haven't had a good night's rest in a while, and it was messing with my head all the time. I work as an assistant in a private language school, so my boss and the other teachers are a bit lenient with me. I'm lucky to have support in that area, otherwise I would be jobless as well. In all of my 27 years on this planet, I've never felt this afraid.
I became paranoid after the break up. I kept seeing shadows out of my second story window, but I blamed the lack of sleep for that. The misplaced items in my flat were also blamed on that, too.
I poured myself a glass of wine and sat on my couch. The TV was on, playing some kind of sitcom. I couldn't bring myself to laugh, even when I found the jokes funny. It became too depressing so I switched around the channels.
"...this is the second victim found in a similar position as the first one a week prior. It appears it was a woman in her late twenties, with her long hair cut short, eyes gouged out. The missing hair and eyeballs are yet to be found..."
Now that was creepy. What kind of freak takes someone's eyes out? I remember Jaehyun saying the eyes are mirrors to one's soul, and mine were his favorite ones. My eye colour changes in the sun, so he loved taking pictures of my eyes when we were outside. Funny how that came to me while listening to this tragedy.
I twirled around a strand of my hair. Jaehyun always told me I should get a haircut, to make myself more mature. I loved my luscious locks, I've taken good care of them over the years.
I shook my head. Why was I thinking about this now? Maybe it was the wine affecting me. I should really stop drinking so late. With another long sign I grabbed the remote to turn the TV off when an image flashed on the screen. It was a picture of the latest victim, followed by the previous one.
My breath got caught in my throat.
The two pictured were side by side, and if I turned my head to the left I would see my graduation picture framed by the TV.
The resemblance between the three of us was astonishing. But that was only a coincidence, right? There is no way...
I shook my head and plugged the TV out of the wall. I wasn't taking any risks now. I speed-walked to my bedroom and shut the door, locking it as well.
There goes another sleepless night for me.
.
.
"Good morning Mrs Jung, how are you today?"
"Oh, good morning dear! You know me, my old bones are giving me a hard time."
I smiled at my elderly neighbour. Mrs Jung was widowed last May, but she's been a fighter ever since. I love meeting her in the morning when I pick up my mail from downstairs.
She waved at me and went out, probably to buy some more cat food for Simon.
I looked through my mail as I went up the stairs and noticed the usual. Phone bill, electricity bill, magazine subscription... I paused on the steps when I reached a black envelope. It was smooth, almost like it was made of suede. What in the world?
I ran to my apartment and threw the other bills on the counter. I ripped the top of the envelope and found a note inside.
My blood ran cold as I read the familiar handwriting.
"Dear, beloved, worshipped Y/N,
Long time no see baby! I've been missing you this whole time! But, you see, I've found a way to look into your gorgeous eyes again. It may be unconventional, but it works. Those two ladies have nothing on you though. I want you to know that.
Y/N, you're the one baby. And I believe you are going to do the right thing and submit yourself to me soon, unless you want more innocent girls to go missing.
I don't want to bore you with details, this is not why I'm writing to you.
You look amazing baby, even better than before. The view from your window is gorgeous.
You'll find a way to contact me, right? You'll make this work? You better do Y/N. If you know what's right for this world.
                                                 Yours truly, J. "
Oh my God. Oh my God!
My hands started shaking like crazy and I dropped the letter on the counter. I think I was about to pass out before I hit the wall behind me. I slowly slid down to the cold kitchen floor and covered my ears. This has been my panic response since I was a child. I tried to tune out everything to keep myself calm, but I couldn't.
This lunatic was going around murdering girls that reminded him of me? What on Earth was I supposed to do now?
I felt myself spiraling even more. There were telltale signs of a panic attack coming in. I haven't had one of those for months. I knew I had to stop it before it got even worse, so I crawled towards the freezer and got out an ice pack. The shock of the cold pack on my legs and arms brought me back to reality. It was enough for me to grab my phone and dial the police.
"Seoul Police Station, how can I help you?"
"I need to report a potential murderer."
.
.
"So, miss Y/N, this will be the agenda from now on. You will be escorted at all times, knowing the killer is infatuated with you we believe he will try to strike you down sooner rather than later. Our detectives are working on locating him, but in the meantime your life will stay the same as always. He can't notice something is off about you."
I nodded and waited for him to continue.
"It will be suspicious to have our detective in uniform trailing behind you everyday, so we have to make it look like you two know each other on a more personal level. Mr Choi is the best detective we have in our station, and he has gladly accepted the job."
I was like a broken doll at this point, only nodding and staring straight ahead.
For the past two days since my phone call, I've been in and out of the station. We've established that the letter was sent by Jaehyun, since he wasn't careful about leaving his fingerprints. He wanted everybody to know it was him. He was connected to the killings and there was a warrant for his arrest. The media wasn't notified yet, because my life would be endangered even more if they put me in the spotlight.
I was nervous about meeting this detective, who was going to become my live-in boyfriend. Officer Jung saw how nervous I was so he told me to wait in the room. He was going out to get my new boyfriend.
After a while, the door to Mr Jung's office opened. I expected him to walk in as well, but when I turned around my mouth almost hit the floor.
He was beyond gorgeous.
The man lifted his hand in a wave and smiled.
"Hi there. Y/N, right? My name is Choi San. I'm your new bodyguard of sorts."
I slowly stood up and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Yeah... I'm Y/N. My ex is the psycho killer. Sorry, that was a really bad introduction."
San chuckled and closed the door.
"I know this isn't very convenient for you, and it will probably be messy, but it's for your own good. I will try to be the best fake boyfriend I can. I'm not messy, I clean up after myself and I make a killer lasagna. So, all in all, I think we'll do just fine."
I smiled lightly and nodded.
"I guess so. I'm sorry about all of this... I kind of feel it's my fault. If I hadn't broken up with him then maybe he wouldn't have done all of this."
San stepped closer to me and shook his head.
"Hey now, stop that. You aren't responsible for someone's bad decisions. The guy is sick in the head and who knows, maybe you would have been his first victim. It's not going to be easy, but I promise you, I will do everything in my power to protect you. You have my word Y/N."
We looked into each other's eyes and I think I stopped breathing for a second. San's gaze was intense, and I felt like he was looking right into my soul.
"I must admit, you do have pretty eyes."
I froze for a second and San noticed my rigid posture.
"Sorry, that was tasteless of me. Too soon I assume?"
I nodded slowly.
"Yeah... It's fine. Thank you."
We went back to staring at each other when the door opened again. Officer Jung walked in with a stack of papers.
"So, I take it you kiddos introduced yourselves. Now, let's go over the plan once more, shall we?"
.
.
"You can put your bag in the spare closet down the hall, it will fit all of your clothes as well. I bought you some new towels and a toothbrush for some reason, even though you probably have your own. There is a guest room across from mine, I put a mattress in there because I usually use it as a home office, so I don't have another bed. I hope that's not a problem. I guess some nights you might want to sleep in my bed, it's only fair."
San came with his things a couple of days later, ready to start this whole journey of catching my psycho killer ex. How my life became a blockbuster, I have no idea, but it is what it is. He set down his bags beside my couch and looked around.
"Nice place. I like the whole vibe, it's homey. And, Y/N, you do realise we have to sleep together?"
My eyes widened just as his did.
"No, no. I didn't mean it like that. Sorry. We have to sleep in the same bed, together. That's what I meant."
I nodded and waved him off.
"Yeah, yeah, I got that. But why?"
I was a bit nervous to share a bed with a complete stranger. After everything happened with Jaehyun, finding another man wasn't on my agenda. I suppose this was a completely different situation.
"I have to be next to you to make sure you are safe. Besides that, we have to be convincing. If he is watching you, he will notice my absence in normal, relationship things, so we have to make sure it looks like the real deal. I'm sorry, hopefully it won't last long. My sole purpose is to make sure you are safe, and that bastard gets locked up in the end."
I nodded in understanding. I knew San was right, so I had to suck it up and share a bed with him.
"Okay, but I'm on the left side because I've always slept there, no negotiation."
He chuckled and picked up his bags.
"No problem, I prefer the right side actually. I'm gonna go put these away and then we can sit and talk this through one more time."
"Do you want some coffee? Or tea?"
"Coffee would be great, thanks."
I went to make us two cups of coffee while he unpacked his stuff. After I poured us some much needed caffeine, I put the cups on the living room table and sat on the couch. I always have a blanket draped over the seats, so I pulled it over my legs. I could hear him rummaging around, and after about 15 minutes he joined me on the couch.
San was an attractive man, that much I could notice. He had this calm aura around him, which made me wonder how he got into this world of crime and murders.
"You know, if you want to ask me something, you can. I can feel you staring at me."
Good God. My cheeks flared up and I took a sip of my coffee to collect myself.
"Sorry. It's a bad habit. I was just wondering... How come you decided to be a detective? I assume this job can't bring you any good memories. I work as a teacher's assistant. The job brought me more joy than anything else in the world. I can't imagine..."
San could tell I was struggling to come up with a way to ask him about his job, so he stepped in to help.
"Hey, I get it. This line of work isn't for everybody. You see horrible things, but at the same time, you are the one stopping them from happening. My dad used to be a cop in our small town, but then he got shot. Drug arrest gone wrong. His shoulder never recovered, so he had to retire. He owns a taekwondo studio now. I trained there before I went to the academy. I think part of me does this job because of him. I never imagined they would promote me to be a detective, but I've always had a knack for solving the unsolvable. So, here I am now."
Impressive. San looked about my age, so becoming a detective this young had to be a huge accomplishment in his life.
"That's... Wow. Good for you. But how do you handle all of this?"
He took a sip of his coffee before answering.
"I guess you get used to it. We are trained by a psychiatrist on how to handle these tough situations. Yes, we solve cases and save people, but there comes a time when you can't be faster than your enemy. These killers and stalkers are smart, at times smarter than us. You have to calculate their steps even better than they do. Thinking one step ahead has saved so many people. Other times, it goes to show that we are still human, and we can't predict every step they take."
I shivered and pulled my legs closer to my chest. Is he saying that as a warning? That maybe...
"Hey now, I can feel you overthinking. We've got this in the bag. That bastard won't take a single step into this apartment. Not one step close to you. I won't allow it Y/N. You're safe with me."
I looked at San and took a deep breath. The determination on his face was unmistakable. He wanted Jaehyun to be locked up, and so did I.
"Thank you, San. I know that, and I do trust you. It's just hard. I never imagined myself in this situation. And those poor women... I can't help feeling a bit guilty."
He shook his head and put his cup on the table, turning towards me fully.
"You can't be responsible for someone's actions. This is solely his doing. He didn't have to do this, but he chose to. You can't read his mind, and you can't predict these things. He's a lunatic, and you are lucky you escaped on time. Let me tell you something about his character. He's doing this without thinking it through. That's good for us because we can gather evidence to lock him up for good once he's caught. It seems like he wants to be caught, but he has to get to you before that. This is where I come in. Once he's vulnerable, he's mine and no one else's."
"Do you think... He wants me dead?"
San sighed and took one of my hands in his. My eyes widened slightly, but I didn't pull away. It felt nice. His touch was warm, and it felt sincere.
"He wants you, that much is fact. I don't think he particularly wants you dead, but he isn't sane enough to make that decision. He may want you beside him, but one rash move and you're gone. I'm telling you again, that won't happen, and I want you to try not to think in that direction."
He gently squeezed my hand before letting go. He stood up and stretched. His white shirt went up and I could see the outline of his hard abs. The man was going to be the death of me if I continued slobbering over him like this.
"I'm gonna go take a shower, you put on a cartoon to pump up your mood a bit. I know The Powerpuff Girls are on Channel Three. Don't ask how I know that, it's embarrassing."
I could see his cheeks becoming a bit pink and he all but ran to the bathroom.
Tough detective San watching the Powerpuff Girls? I bet Bubbles is his favorite.
With a laugh, I turned on the TV to search for Channel Three, but I was abruptly cut off by the News Station. I wish I wasn't.
"...the body was found behind a bar, eyes gauged out like the previous two victims. Everything points to the same perpetrator. Police are on the scene, carefully directing people away from the alley. This is the third woman found in a month, and the killer left a message next to her. In what we assume was the victim's blood, there was the number '12' hastily written on the pavement..."
Twelve. As the number on my apartment door.
"Hey Y/N, where did you say the towels were? In the closet or..."
San stopped talking when he saw my frightened expression, the grip on my TV remote and my wide eyes. He looked at the TV and realised what was going on. He walked up to me, turned the TV off and pulled me up.
"Y/N, listen to me carefully. Go into your bedroom and find me a blue hair clip. Do you have something like that?"
I nodded. A blue hair clip? What does he want with that?
"Okay, can you answer me in words?"
"I... Yes. I have one."
"Good girl. Now, go find it."
I felt like my body went into autopilot. I rushed to my bedroom and sat by my vanity. I could see my expression in the big mirror. I looked terrified. But I couldn't dwell on that too much, because I had to find the hair clip. After rummaging around my bags, I pulled out a tiny blue butterfly clip. I forgot I had this, it must be ancient. I felt relieved as I stood up to go take it to San.
Just as I turned around I saw him leaning on the doorframe of my bedroom.
"Feeling better now?"
Huh? I guess I do feel...
"Wait. This was some kind of tactic?"
He smiled and nodded.
"I had to distract you. It's best to put a person into a completely different situation so that your brain focuses on something else. I don't know why I came up with the hair clip, but I had to think of something. You were going into a panic attack it seems?"
I reached out my hand and placed the clip into his open palm. He twirled it around while looking at me.
"Yeah... Ever since this whole thing started they've been coming and going. I can manage them sometimes, but this one was tough. He wrote my apartment number next to that poor woman, San. He's insane."
San put the clip in his jean pocket and placed his hands on my shoulders.
"Y/N, we're going to get him, I promise. Please, go get some rest. I'm gonna take that shower now and I'll be in bed soon. Make yourself comfortable, and leave the right side free, will you?"
I chuckled and nodded.
"I sleep on the left, remember?"
.
.
"So this lock has a code system, and it has to have four digits. Think of something you won't forget easily, but at the same time, it has to be something Jaehyun doesn't know."
San was installing my new lock, and I was trying to be helpful by holding the flashlight over his head. Last night was... Interesting to say the least. I knocked out before he came out of the bathroom, so I spared myself of the embarrassment of our first night together. However, when I opened my eyes in the morning, I could feel his arm draped around my stomach, holding me. I wiggled out quietly and kept silent when he asked me if everything was okay during the night.
I didn't want to make him heel awkward, I could do that for the both of us.
After breakfast, we went down to a hardware store to buy another lock and key. San already had the security system, so we've been at it for some time now.
"When is your birthday?"
He turned towards me and quirked an eyebrow.
"My birthday?"
I nodded and turned off the flashlight.
"That's something he won't know for sure. I mean, he doesn't even know your name so it's the only logical option."
"You think you'll remember it?" He smirked and stood up. He towered over me, and in the small hallway space, I felt like he was a step away from pushing me against the wall.
"If my life depends on it, I think I will."
I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked into his eyes. We stared at each other for some time before his phone rang.
"I have to take that, you punch in the code three times. It's 1007."
With that, he looked me up and down again before disappearing into the bedroom to take the call.
I felt like I could breathe again. After entering the code, I locked the door and went into the kitchen for some water. San was taking a long time with the call, so I assumed it was important. Judging by his expression when he came out, it only confirmed my suspicion.
"That was officer Jung. I need to go down to the station. Jaehyun left a message in front of the station. I think he's onto us, but I could be wrong. It may be a warning to the police."
He looked at the floor and took a deep breath.
"Well... What did he leave? Was it like the letter he sent me? Did he do something like that?"
"Ah... I don't think you want to know."
I pushed myself to walk right in front of him.
"Tell me. I need to know."
San looked into my eyes, an apologetic expression marring his face.
"He sent them a pair of eyeballs. They don't know if it's another victim, or one of the older ones. He said the eyes weren't of use to him anymore, but he wanted to keep the rest for now."
I think I'm about to puke my lunch out. I closed my eyes and put my hands over my ears. This was not the time for a panic attack. Before long, I felt San's hands go over mine. The additional weight brought me a sense of relief. I opened my eyes to look into his concerned ones.
"Don't worry, you don't have to make me look for blue hair clips, I've got this one." He smiled and put his hands down.
"So I assume they want you to look into it?" He nodded.
"Yeah. Are you okay with being alone? I know the sun is about to set, but I'll try not to take long."
"It's fine. This is your job after all. Go, the faster you leave, the quicker you'll come back." With a final nod, he went to the door, put on a jacket and his shoes and turned towards me.
"Be safe. I'll call you when I'm on the way back." I waved him off.
"Yeah, yeah. Go be a detective." He smiled and out he went.
It was a bit creepy after he left. I couldn't shake off the weird feeling of being watched, but I knew I was safe in my newly equipped apartment. I noticed the stack of papers on my kitchen counter. I haven't looked into my mail all day. San was the one who brought it up, but we didn't go through it since his hands were already full.
I sorted out my bills and pamphlets when I reached another black, almost suede, envelope.
This has to be a joke.
With a sigh, I opened up the second letter.
"My dear Y/N,
I'm a bit angry with you. We are separated for only a month, and now someone is moving in with you? Are you that desperate? He isn't even that handsome, but I couldn't really tell. He better watch out though. I don't like sharing what's mine.
I can't wait to be with you again baby. I've missed looking into your eyes terribly. Those other ladies don't stand a chance against you.
Why don't you write me back? You know my address. It's true that I don't spend time there anymore, but I'll check for your response for sure.
Take care baby, we'll meet again soon.
                                                                With love, J."
.
.
"So we know he is lurking around the neighborhood, but we can't tell his exact location. He's moving around too much, but the bastard knows how to hide."
Officer Jung was a man in his late forties, married for twenty years with a son and daughter. He's been in the police force since he was twenty-one, but he's never had a case like this. Jaehyun was a dirty bastard, and he was as sly as a snake. He was giving them a hard time, but there wasn't a crime Officer Jung wasn't able to solve.
San admired his determination. He was like a role model to him, as his parents live in the countryside and he doesn't see them as often. It seems like this case was affecting Mr Jung more than any other. San could say the same thing. In the small amount of time he's spent with you, he could tell you were a lovely person. You just had this spark following you, a pep in your step without even noticing, and your eyes were truly incredible. He was afraid of getting attached to you too soon, but he couldn't stop it even if he tried.
"Y/N called me. He's left another letter for her. He knows I'm with her. He's directly threatening me, but he doesn't seem to know I'm working for the police."
Officer Jung nodded.
"That's good. We'll keep it that way. That poor girl must be frightened. You're free to go, son. Go take care of Miss Y/N. I assume you two have become acquainted?" He had a small smirk, and a suggestive wink told San all he needed to know.
"Officer, with all due respect, we aren't in an ideal situation to be talking like that. I'm doing everything I can to make Y/N feel at ease, but it doesn't seem to be working."
"I get that boy, but you have to understand the poor lady. She's a direct target. Go home and make sure she knows we're catching this bastard."
San shook hands with Mr Jung and made his way outside to his car. The Sun had set an hour ago and he knew Y/N was probably wondering where he was.
Never has he felt such a strong attraction towards someone as he does with her. From the moment he laid eyes on her he knew he was screwed. Now he was terrified of what could happen. Without taking his eyes off the road he dialed her number. After two rings her angelic voice answered.
"Hey San. Are you coming back?" I'm speeding back, doll.
He held it in and replied calmly.
"Yeah, sorry about that. We had to have a meeting. But I'm gonna be there in about 15 minutes, so hold on tight. You did a good job today, staying alone." She chuckled, and it made San smile.
"Well I didn't have much of a choice. I cooked dinner in the meantime. I heard you make a killer lasagna? Well, I think you might have some competition buddy."
"We'll see about that. Do you need me to pick up anything on the way?"
"No! I mean... No. Just come home, I'm at my maximum here."
Home. He hasn't heard that one in a while. It sounded nice coming from her.
"Don't worry, I'm coming as fast as I can. Cut me the biggest piece of lasagna you can." Y/N chuckled and cleared her throat.
"Coming right up sir!" She hung up the phone without knowing how much of an impact her simple words had on San.
Boy, was he in trouble.
.
.
A week has passed by without trouble. No new murders on the news, no letters, no calls from the station. Everything seemed to be going just fine.
Except the sheet amount of sexual tension between herself and San.
It was undeniable. Every time he passed by her in the kitchen to grab something he would put his hand on her hip. When she walked into the bathroom, he was just about to exit, towel wrapped around his waist, water dripping down his hard chest. The heat was on as the weather got colder, and she was walking around in tiny shorts which made San blush every time she bent down to pick something up.
The fleeting glances, the not so subtle touches, the rosy cheeks every time they are beside each other in bed... It all came to a culmination one Saturday morning.
San was always looking for something to hug while he slept. After your first night together you brought a pillow for him to embrace. This time, neither one of you even thought about bringing that stupid pillow to bed.
During the night, you two naturally gravitate towards each other. In the morning, while the sun tried to pry its way into the room through your blinds, San had his arms wrapped around you from behind. You woke up first, feeling hot all over. Your thin shorts weren't a big enough barrier between your ass and his rock hard length.
You were at an impasse. Do you wiggle out of bed and pretend like nothing happened, or, do you let yourself be caught in his embrace and finally give into the desire you two feel for each other? It seems like San was ready to answer the question for you.
You could feel his strong arms tightening around your mid section, his big palm caressing your stomach. You could hear him letting out a big sigh.
"Y/N... Are you awake?"
You could never get enough of his morning voice.
"Yeah..."
"Y/N, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but... If you don't stop moving around I won't be able to control myself."
Without answering, you slowly moved your hips over his hard-on. San grunted and you were on your back in a second. He was hovering above you, his angelic face illuminated by the morning light.
"You're really asking for trouble, you know?" You lifted your brow.
"Me? You're the one running your hands all over me." He laughed and laid his head on your chest, putting his arms around you again. He was like a big cat, invading your space with his warmth.
"You're going to get me in so much trouble." His voice was a bit muffled with his face squashed between your breasts.
"Hey, you're the one feeling me up."
"I told you I can't control that! Besides, you are too soft to resist."
"So what are we going to do about that?"
He lifted his head and placed his chin on my chest before looking into my eyes. I could see him contemplating.
"Listen, I think we are both on the same page here. However, my priority right now is your safety. Maybe when this is all over, we could go on an actual date? I think that would be nice, you know?"
He wants to take me out?
"Really? You want to go on a date with me?"
"And why is that so hard to believe?" I shrugged and started playing with his hair. He looked like he would melt in a second.
"I don't know, it's all so messed up. Maybe you don't want anything to do with me after this is over."
"That's not going to happen. I like you, Y/N. I want you, it's ridiculous how much. I just don't want to compromise your safety for my selfish desires." I nodded and placed a gentle kiss on his head. His blinked and pulled himself up on his forearms.
"You know, maybe we could break my rules, just this once." My brow furrowed.
"What do you mean?"
San smiled and got closer, our noses almost touching.
"Say, Y/N... Have you ever made out with a police officer?"
I giggled. "No, I can't say I did. Why?"
"Well... Would you want to?"
I bit my lip and nodded. Why the hell not?
"Good to know."
And just like that, his lips were on mine.
The kiss was more passionate than I could have expected. San was going slow, but as time went by, we picked up the pace. Our hands were exploring every inch of our bodies. My legs were firm around his waist, with his tangled in my hair.
We rolled around the bed, laughing in between kisses. After what felt like an hour, or more, we finally stopped to catch our breaths.
"That was... Wow." I laughed again.
"Yeah, wow. But San..." He turned to look at me.
"What's wrong?"
"I thought you were a detective, not an officer?"
"Oh, yeah... Well, you just made out with a police detective. You can cross it on your bucket list."
I couldn't help the giggles, and San joined me. We naturally gravitated towards each other again and, soon enough, we got lost in each other's lips.
What we didn't know at the time was that a pair of dark eyes was watching everything from the building across the street.
.
.
The morning went by quickly. San and I didn't leave the bed for a good two hours, rolling around, laughing, talking, kissing... There was so much kissing it kind of makes me dizzy thinking about it.
When we finally decided to get up, we got a call from officer Jung. He was concerned about the silence on Jaehyun's end, but they didn't have anything new on him. I could see it was affecting San, but he tried acting tough in front of me. After the call ended, we decided to lounge around all day.
By nine o'clock, we were hungry and exhausted from all of the kissing we were doing.
"I don't feel like cooking really. I think I want to melt into this couch if I'm being honest." San chuckled and kissed my forehead.
"I get you, but we do have to eat. Do you want me to go to that pizza place down the street? We can order and I can pick it up. I know the delivery driver creeps you out."
I shivered a bit. "Yeah, he always tries to look down my top. You wouldn't mind doing that?"
He caressed my cheek before pinching it.
"For you? Not at all. Let me call them and I'll be on my way."
After placing the order, San put on his jacket and shoes and kissed me again.
"I will never get enough of this." I smiled and gave him another peck.
"Nor will I. Go now before I starve."
He laughed and went out. He didn't bring his car keys, but I knew there was no need, as the place was literally down the street. I heard the lock click and I pushed the button to activate the alarm. Funny, it always glows red when it's on, but now it wasn't shining. Maybe the batteries weren't good anymore? I'll have to tell San when he comes back.
I went into the kitchen to take out some plates and cups. I looked around for candles to make it more romantic, but only found one.
"Guess this will do."
After setting everything up on my living room table I went to my bedroom to put on something nice. I know I don't have to try, but I felt like San deserved it.
I was about to pull my shirt over my head when I heard the door clicking. It's been about ten minutes since San left, he couldn't be back so soon?
"San? Is that you?"
There was no response to my question. It was eerily silent.
I was just about to turn around when I saw him.
The reflection in my vanity mirror.
"Hey there baby. How have you been?"
"Jaehyun?"
.
.
San was practically skipping towards the pizza joint down the street. His day couldn't be any better. Not only did he kiss the most beautiful woman in the world, he was certain she felt the same as he did about their connection. When this whole mess becomes history, he will take her on the best date of her life. She deserved nothing less.
Once he reached the family owned business, he told them his name and order number and they quickly packed it up for him.
He must have been gone for about 20 minutes when his phone rang in his pocket.
"Officer Jung? Is everything okay?"
Why was the old man calling him on a Saturday night?
"San! My boy! We have a big problem! Where are you? Is Y/N there?"
"Woah, hold up. She's not with me, I left her at home to pick up our dinner? What's going on?" Mr Jung was awfully quiet on the other end.
"Mr Jung?"
"San... You need to run back as fast as you can. He called the station, he's going to do something to her tonight. I've already sent out a patrole, they are coming as fast as they can. There was an accident on the bridge tonight, they have go take a detour. San, my boy, run and save the poor girl."
San's blood ran cold instantly. How could he have been so foolish? He left her, all alone, with a serial killer out to get her. He threw away the pizza box and sprinted down the street.
He could only pray go get there before something terrible happened.
.
.
"Jaehyun... Please... You don't want to do this."
He stepped into the room and closed the door.
"Do what baby? I'm here to take what's mine. Do you know how hard it was watching you with that loser? He even made you change your locks so I couldn't get in! But I found a way, I always do!"
He kept stalking towards me until I was backed up against my vanity table.
"Do you have any idea how much I've missed your eyes baby? Your beautiful, warm, stunning eyes..."
"Please, I don't want to die."
He put his hands on my cheeks.
"No, no, no... Baby, don't worry about that. I mean you have to die, but not yet. I have to make up for lost time, you know?"
I slowly grabbed my eyeliner pencil from the table, trying to be as discreet as possible.
"Yeah, I think I get it... How do you want to make up for it?"
He seemed to lighten up at my fake enthusiasm, and he put his hands down, but he didn't step away.
"I knew you'd come around baby. Well, we have all night to decide once you come with me. We can't do anything here, your bed is filthy from that idiot sleeping in it."
Just as he was about to kiss me, I jammed the pencil into his eyeball.
He screamed and I pushed him out of my way, running towards the door.
"You bitch! I'm gonna fucking kill you! Oh, you're in for it now Y/N!"
I opened the bedroom door and I almost made it to the front of my apartment before he tackled me to the ground.
"Not so fast you slut. You think you can run away from me? Think again, you bitch."
I struggled underneath his weight, trying to push him off with my legs. He was too strong for me.
"Let me go, please! Please, you don't want to do this!"
"Shut up!" He smacked me right across the mouth, and I could taste blood on my lips.
In the midst of my struggle, San appeared before my eyes. Poor San... He was going to be devastated.
I was about to give up when I heard the sound of my door being broken down.
"Well, well... Isn't that the bastard himself?"
"Get the fuck of off her before I put a bullet between your eyes."
I looked up and I couldn't help but fear the expression on San's face. He looked dark, and the gun in his hands wasn't helping.
Suddenly, Jaehyun pulled me up and put his arm around my midsection. He had a pocket knife in his other hands, aimed straight at my throat.
"Listen up pretty boy. One wrong move and her blood will be all over the walls. You know what I hate about you bastards? You come in in the worst possible moments. We were just about to run away and have the time of our lives, isn't that right baby?"
He caressed my throat with the knife and I could see San struggling to keep himself composed. He cleared his throat.
"You think I care about her? I'm just a detective waiting to put cuffs on your hands boy, nothing else. This was all an act, and you fell for it easily. Honestly, you call yourself a killer? Pathetic."
I knew San didn't mean any of those words, but it hurt hearing him say them out loud.
"Jaehyun, baby... You need to let me go. I made a mistake in the bedroom, that wasn't nice of me. But I got scared, you know? Please baby..." San was looking into my eyes as I started pleading with Jaehyun.
My ex was slowly loosing his grip on me. I could hear his breathing becoming laboured.
"You really mean that baby? Wanna come with me now?"
I nodded slowly. "Yeah, yes. I'll come with you."
He slowly lowered the knife, but he stopped suddenly.
"You think I'm that stupid you bitch? You're gonna get it now, and Loverboy will have front row tickets."
I closed my eyes waiting for him to push the knife into my throat when a loud bang rang through my ears.
A bullet whizzed past my ear and right into Jaehyun's head.
If San didn't grab me I would have gone to the ground along with Jaehyun.
I let out a yelp.
Everything went dark for a moment.
"Y/N! Come on baby girl, come back to me."
I opened my eyes and stared straight into San's. I could see my living room ceiling. We were still inside?
"What happened?"
He sighed in relief. "You scared the hell out of me."
He pulled me up into a hug and that's when I saw it.
Jaehyun's lifeless body sprawled all over my living room floor.
"Oh my God... San... Is he?"
"Yeah, he is. I'm sorry Y/N, but he was about to stab you. I couldn't let that happen." I looked up at San and threw my arms around him. I squeezed his shoulders like my life depended on it.
"Thank you. Thank you so much. You kept me safe. You did it."
I could feel him caressing my hair and kissing the top on my head.
"Always baby girl, I'd do anything for you."
We could hear the sirens finally blasting from outside. In no time, my apartment was full of police officers, AMTs and a forensic unit. They had to take care of Jaehyun's body.
Officer Jung walked in as well.
"Y/N! San, my boy! Oh thank God!" He threw his arms around us.
"Hey Mr Jung..." He jabbed San in the forehead.
"Thank God you were one of the best shooters in your class. Nobody could have pulled this off besides you. I'm proud of you."
Mr Jung helped us stand up and took us outside of the building. San didn't want to leave my side even when another policeman came to take out statements.
Soon enough, we were sitting on the steps of my building, a blanket around our shoulders. We watched as a black van drove away with Jaehyun's body inside. It felt surreal.
"You know everything is going to be okay now, right?"
I looked at him and admired his manly features. I nodded.
"I know... I have you by my side now, if we are still on for that date?"
San smiled and kissed my forehead.
"Hell yes we are."

This is my first time writing for San and I had a lot of fun with it so I hope you enjoy it! Sorry it is so late I wanted to have it out by Halloween but due to the sudden weather change we haven't had power. I tried to make it longer to make up for that so hopefully it doesn't feel rushed and was worth the wait!
I honestly may do a part two to this or an expansion later on because I love the idea of Jigsaw San but we'll see.

“Police officials are seeking any leads in identifying the man known only to the public as the Jigsaw killer. He is believed to be linked in multiple disappearances and murders that have taken place around Seoul for the past three months. The victims were all found in various handmade traps and had a puzzle piece drawn somewhere visible on their body. At this time investigators have no leads and are asking the public for any knowledge they may have on this public threat.”
The reporter's voice faded to nothing as the volume on the TV was lowered to zero. You groaned softly to yourself as you tossed the remote to the side, running your hands through your hair as you sat forward on your couch. It had been just over a month since you were assigned the Jigsaw murder case, the last detective backing out after the man in question threatened to target his family. The case was quickly transferred over to you, one of the best detectives in your field, but it was very quickly starting to test your patience.
Whoever this Jigsaw was, he was a clever man. He left no trace, no evidence, nothing that would allow you to track him down. You went through surveillance, interviewed the family and friends of the victims, tried breaking down his traps for any clues, but any lead always led you right back to square one. You had tried to be patient, hoping that eventually he would slip up and give you something, but it was starting to sound like wishful thinking. Even worse, he knew who you were and started calling you out directly. You would find notes addressed to you, pictures, voice messages, all calling you out and taunting you. It was like he was playing some cruel game with you and you had no choice but to play along or risk losing everything. You couldn’t even walk to work anymore without some reporter chasing you down demanding an explanation or any evidence you had in the case. It came to a point where you only went to the office when called, and the rest of your work you did from home.
Various evidence pictures and case files were thrown across your coffee table, a few rough notes scribbled in between. You had been looking at the same files for the past couple of hours, dissecting every last word to see if you had missed any connections. Your last victim had been found 72 hours ago, and you knew you only had a day at most before the next one. There were a few things you had discovered about Jigsaw, and the main one was that he worked on a schedule. Once someone was reported missing, it would be three days before their body turned up and the cycle would start again. Whoever this man was, he clearly enjoyed his patterns, and that is what you found yourself looking for, any pattern you may have missed.
“Working from home again I see?” you practically jumped out of your skin as you heard the deep voice of your roommate behind you, turning around to see his tall frame leaning over the couch.
“For Fucks sake Mingi you almost gave me a heart attack!” you whined, reaching up to lightly smack at him, “what are you doing here anyways I thought you weren’t coming home tonight.” You and Mingi had been friends for as long as you could remember, having met back in high school and staying together through college and your time at the police academy. He was like a brother to you at this point and you trusted him so you didn’t mind if he saw your work, even if he technically wasn’t supposed to. Mingi always found your work to be fascinating and would bug you randomly about cases, which only grew more when you started investigating Jigsaw, though you assumed it was just because you got to bring your work home now. Just as you predicted, he made his way to the other side of the couch and took a seat next to you, picking up one of the crime scene photos to get a better look.
“I was going to stay at Yunhos tonight but something came up and he had to cancel,” Mingi explained, running his thumb over the picture he was holding, “ouch this looks like it would have been painful, what is it?”
“That’s one of Jigsaw's latest traps,” you answered, snatching the photo away from him, “I’m looking through it to see if I can find any missing clues.”
“Have you found anything?”
“Sadly no, he’s very good at covering his tracks. It’s been a month and we still don’t have any leads on this guy, it’s like he’s a ghost or something.” Mingi hummed softly as he continued to look through all the pictures, careful not to mess them up knowing you would yell at him if he did.
“Now I’m no expert but, are you sure you’re only looking for one person?” he asked, catching you off guard.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean all these crime scenes you’ve shown me have been pretty big and this says it only took three days, seems like a lot of work for one person if you ask me.” Mingi explained, “and that’s why your patterns wouldn’t line up like you want them to.” You blinked up at him dumbly for a moment as you processed his words, looking back down at the file you had basically memorized by this point. You didn’t want to admit it, but Mingi had a point.
“You know that’s actually not a bad idea,” you muttered.
“I can be helpful sometimes you know,” he bragged with a laugh, earning himself a punch to the shoulder. He didn’t have time to retaliate though as you were packing up all of your things and rushing towards the door, “Wait where are you going?”
“I need to check on something, don’t wait up for me!” you called back, pulling on your coat and running out the door as he called after you. In your rush you hadn’t realized that you dropped part of your case file on your way out, nor did you notice Mingi pulling out his phone to call someone as he closed the door to your apartment.
ღ ღ ღ ღ ღ
You made it to the crime scene in no time, an abandoned warehouse located just on the edge of the city. You parked your car a bit away and pulled out a flashlight as you made your way inside, ducking under the caution tape and pulling your jacket closer to yourself as you looked around. The clean up crew had gotten most of the scene cleaned by now, but the trap itself was still there. A weirdly broken mess of chains and blades that you wouldn’t have been able to put back together if you wanted to, making you wonder how Jigsaw even came up with the idea in the first place. You shook the thought out of your head and made your way to one of the blades, leaning down to inspect it carefully. It was sharp with a curve to it, but almost messy in design as if it was handmade. To test that theory you took a look at another one and noticed the same thing except this one was thicker and less curved despite being set up the same way. The chains themselves were also a bit sloppy when you looked at them closely, almost as if they had been done in a rush. It wasn’t as clean as Jigsaw's normal work, and now Mingis suggestion that you were dealing with more than one culprit seemed more plausible.
You took your phone out to snap a picture just as the door to the warehouse opened, a new light pouring in and a familiar voice calling your name.
“Over here!” you called back, flashing your light in his direction so he could see you. Quick footsteps made their way towards you before a familiar figure came into view. Park Seonghwa, a senior detective that had transferred over to your department a little over a year ago and assigned as your partner. You had been against the idea at first since your original partner had been killed only a few weeks prior during an investigation gone wrong. The chief had insisted it would be for the best though since you needed the help and Seonghwas cool and more collected nature would balance you out nicely which would prove to be true. Your impulsiveness had driven the older detective crazy a few times, but for the most part the two of you got along well and you could even consider him a friend. He was wearing a long black coat and matching gloves and his hair was long and falling into his face rather than slicked up like normal, probably because he had been at home resting when you called him.
“Would you care to explain why you called me out here in the middle of the night when I haven’t heard from you in the last 48 hours?” Seonghwa questioned, unable to hide the annoyance in his tone.
“I’ll make it up to you but I figured this couldn’t wait,” you muttered, going back to inspect the chain again, “I’m trying to prove a theory about something.”
“That theory being?”
“What if Jigsaw isn't working alone?” you challenged, “what if it’s more than one person, that would explain why nothing lines up.” Seonghwas eyes widened a bit and you could have sworn you heard him mutter something under his breath, “what did you say?”
“Oh nothing,” he brushed you off, “what made you so convinced of this new theory? Did you find something?” You froze for a second, not wanting to expose yourself for letting a member of the general public view the case file.
“Just a hunch,” you lied, “but I mean look at the way this trap was built, it's messy compared to the others, almost as if it was made by someone else.”
“Or maybe Jigsaw just ran out of time and rushed on it,” he argued.
“Can you just humor me for five seconds Seonghwa,” you groaned, “maybe I’m wrong yes but isn’t it at least worth looking into?” Seonghwa rolled his eyes but gave in, walking to the other side of the trap to get a better look. You were too distracted by your own work to pay much attention to him, meticulously looking through every detail of the trap despite not actually knowing what you were looking for. Your instinct was telling you that there was something there you were overlooking, something that was hiding in plain sight, you just had to figure out what that was.
“Hey Y/N,” Seonghwa called out after a few minutes, “I think I found something.” Your head shot up and you quickly dusted yourself off before making your way over. Seonghwa was standing in the corner of the warehouse holding what looked to be a tape recorder. “I found it tucked away over here, may have gotten knocked around during the investigation,” he explained.
“Does it say anything?” you asked, taking the recorder from his hands and pressing the play button. There was only static for a moment before a robotic voice spoke up, like someone was speaking through a voice changer. Despite that, you couldn’t help but feel like the voice seemed familiar to you, but it was hard to tell through the editing.
“Hello Detective Y/L/N,” the tape addressed you, sending a chill through your body, “these past few weeks you have been running around in circles trying to discover who I am. You have been closer to the truth than you realize but you always end up blindsided by your work and, as a result, you overlook the answer that is right in front of you. I have enjoyed silently watching you up until this point but now it is getting quite boring so why don’t we make this a bit more fun? Do you like games, detective? I hope you do because I want to play a game with you. I have left a riddle for you, the answer to which will tell you all you need to know about who I am and what I do. You have 48 hours to find the riddle and tell me the answer or you will find yourself and those closest to you in a very undesirable situation. The timer starts the second this recording ends, let’s hope you are as clever as everyone says you are. Let the game begin.”
You felt your blood run cold as the tape came to an end, barely registering Seonghwas hand on your shoulder as you tried to process everything you just heard. Seonghwa tried talking to you but you ignored him, pushing his hand off and rushing back to your car, your partner not far behind you.
“Where are you going? We should report this to the office first!” he called after you.
“What good is reporting it going to do? You heard him Hwa I have 48 hours to figure out who this guy is or we’re all screwed, I can’t waste time.”
“So what you’re going to rush into something and get yourself killed?” he argued.
“Better than doing nothing and getting everyone else killed,” you snapped back, “now if you’ll excuse me, I need to find this riddle he’s talking about.” Seonghwa called after you again but by this point you had gotten in your car and were already making your way back to your apartment. Part of you felt like going home was a bad idea, but you also couldn’t help but feel like something was pulling you to go there. The same feeling of familiarity that you got hearing the tape returned, making you feel more and more uneasy as you pulled into your apartment complex. Like you knew who Jigsaw was and yet the image of his face was blurred any time you tried to imagine him.
Mingi didn’t seem to be home when you got back, his shoes were gone and the light was off. You couldn’t focus on that though, as your attention was drawn to the stack of papers placed neatly on your coffee table. You carefully walked over and looked through the pile, recognizing pictures from all the different crime scenes you had investigated so far, each one marked with red ink.
‘Y/N, doesn’t this random pattern seem a bit too random?’
‘This is quite close to home don’t you think?’
‘The truth has been in front of you the whole time.’
‘Why do I do what I do?’
‘Did you miss me?’
You ran your hand through your hair as you continued looking through the pictures, realizing that the riddle was basically going to send you on a scavenger hunt. It would take forever for you to go back through each crime scene and look back through everything to find out what he was talking about. Even worse, it was pretty late and you could feel exhaustion slowly taking over you, slouching over the coffee table and eventually laying against it as you fell asleep trying to decipher the riddle.
You were jolted awake by the sound of your phone vibrating, groaning softly as you sat up and reached into your pocket for the device. You half expected it to be a call from Mingi or Seonghwa, but instead you were greeted with the same robotic voice from the night before. Only this time, you were able to hear his actual voice a bit more and it was one you swore you had heard before.
“Good morning Sleeping Beauty, I hope my riddle didn’t keep you up all night,” the voice immediately woke you up, straightening your posture as you looked around.
“Who is this?” you asked.
“Aww I’m almost offended you don’t remember me, we go way back you know,” the voice responded, “I’ve missed you Y/N, and even if you don’t remember me now I know you miss me too.” You paused for a moment at his words before realizing now was not the time to worry about that.
“Why are you doing this?”
“That. my dear detective is for you to find out, you always did enjoy the thrill of a good challenge didn’t you? I figured you would have solved my puzzle by now but since I believe in giving people a fair chance I’ll give you another clue. One of those puzzle pieces doesn’t quite belong, once you find the answer I will be waiting for you in the place we last met, don’t keep me waiting Doll.” With that the call ended, causing you to groan in frustration and toss your phone to the side.
“I’ve had about enough of these damn games,” you huffed, rubbing your hands over your eyes. You looked through the pictures again before one in particular caught your eye. It wasn’t one of the Jigsaw crime scenes, but instead it was a picture of an older house, one that you recognized from your last murder investigation with your old partner, San. The memories slowly came back to you and that’s when it finally clicked for you, the puzzle and the reason the voice sounded so familiar to you. That was impossible though, San was dead, you had been at the hospital with him when the doctors told you there was nothing they could do. There was no way that San was still alive, and yet you would recognize his voice anywhere. Shaking your head, you grabbed your phone and stood up, calling Seonghwa and telling him to meet you at the house in question as you left your apartment and got in your car. The whole ride there you tried ignoring the feeling of dread that came over you, hoping that your intuition was wrong.
ღ ღ ღ ღ ღ
Seonghwa was already at the house before you got there, leaning against the wall with a blank expression. “I take it you found the answer to your riddle?” he asked as you walked past him, leading him inside.
“As much as I hope I am wrong I think I did,” you confessed, “and if I’m right the clue we are looking for should be here somewhere.” Seonghwa stood still in the middle of the room as you frantically looked around, digging through his pocket and following your movements with his eyes.
“This isn’t one of the crime scenes,” he pointed out, “what exactly are we looking for?”
“Jigsaw said to find him at the place we last met and this place was the only one pictured that wasn’t one of the crime scenes,” you explained. Seonghwa hummed softly at your answer, but you ignored him as you continued looking around.
“Why here then, what’s so special about this place?” you froze for a moment at the question, an action that didn’t go unnoticed.
“This was the last place I investigated with my first partner,” you answered, “he was shot during the investigation and I thought he was dead but I’m starting to think I was wrong.”
“You think it’s him,” Seonghwa stated rather than asked, to which you nodded.
“I don’t know why he would do such a thing, but it all lines up.” Seonghwa sighed and glanced down at his watch before making his way towards you.
“I’m surprised you know, you solved the riddle faster than we thought you would, we’re a bit ahead of schedule.” His words made your blood run cold, freezing as your head turned to look at him.
“What did you just say?”
“I’m sorry about this Y/N,” Seonghwa apologized, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a syringe, “just know I don’t make the rules, I’m just the delivery guy.” Before you could react to his words he had grabbed you and injected you with what you assumed was some kind of anesthesia, your body going limp in his hold almost immediately and your vision going black. The last thing you remember hearing was his voice and footsteps approaching before you completely lost consciousness.
When you returned to consciousness the first thing that you noticed was that you couldn’t move. Your arms and legs were handcuffed to a chair that also appeared to be bolted to the floor so you couldn’t tip it over. Tugging at your restraints, you glanced around to find that you were in some sort of workshop, various trap parts and gadgets tossed around multiple workbenches. At the front of the room were what appeared to be security monitors, each watching different parts of the city that you could just barely make out.
“I have to hand it to you Y/N,” a voice said from behind you, “the last detective didn’t make it nearly as far.” The sound of footsteps echoed through the room before a figure appeared in your vision, wearing a full body red and black hood. Even though his face was covered by the hood, you could feel the presence of your former partner.
“How, I thought you were dead,” you whispered, not sure what to feel at the moment. In any other circumstance you would be over the moon to know he was alive, but how were you supposed to feel knowing he was the serial killer you had been anxiously tracking down. Shock, betrayal, anger, sadness, confusion, all of these emotions swirled through your brain like an endless whirlpool, pulling you in deeper and nearly bringing tears to your eyes.
“Everyone did,” San replied, turning away from you to face one of his work benches, “the doctors said it was a miracle, that no one thought I would make it through the night let alone make a full recovery.” You could hear him messing with something, but couldn’t see what it was, struggling to look past his shoulder as he continued talking, “I tried to find you after you know? I thought you were the only one left that cared about me, and yet even you managed to turn your back on me.”
“I always cared about you,” you argued, “that’s why I’m trying to understand why San, why did you do this?” It was at this point that he finally turned to face you, pulling the hood back so you could see him properly. He looked almost the same as you remembered, but there was a cold gaze in his eyes that almost made him feel like a stranger. This wasn’t the warm hearted and cheerful person you used to consider a friend, he was a killer. Despite this, however, you couldn’t help yourself from falling for his familiarity, almost as if you could convince yourself the old San was still in there, somewhere.
“You never realize just how valuable life is until you are inches away from death,” he explained, “the adrenaline and the fight to survive, it almost feels like you are being reborn. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how corrupt the world we live in truly is, because no one really knows how to appreciate the life they are given until it is nearly taken from them. You may not understand it now but trust me my methods will help make the world a better place.”
“You’re killing people because you want them to appreciate life?” you questioned, wondering if he was actually being serious. There was no way a person's mind could be that twisted, right?
“You think I’m a killer?” San asked, not needing a verbal response since your glare was enough confirmation, “that’s where you’re wrong you know. I have not killed anyone, all of my games are survivable as long as the player has the will to fight for it. Those who failed the games basically killed themselves.” You wanted to argue that putting people in these death traps still made him a killer but he cut you off, “Seven people have won so far, seven people who had that will to live and had the chance to be reborn. They understand what it truly means to be alive and now they help me spread my message. You may not understand me now, but I really do hope that you will be the next.”
“So what, am I the next person that gets to be put in one of your death traps then?” you groaned, tugging at your restraints. San pouted a bit but shook his head.
“Your game began the minute you took the case from Detective Kim,” he explained, “you and I always seemed to have an understanding so I had hoped you would pick up on my clues and join without a fight, but you were far too stubborn to listen. Eventually I had to cut my losses so I had my apprentices plant fake evidence to finally get you here, it was the only way.” Your heart dropped a bit at the word apprentices, your mind immediately going back to Seonghwa and how he was the one who brought you here.
“So you’re telling me the whole time,” you trailed off.
“Seonghwa was working for me, yes, Mingi as well, they both survived my games and agreed to help with the cause and when you took over my case I knew I could use them to guide you in the right direction,” San explained. He took a moment to glance at a clock on the wall before sighing and making his way over to you. San rested his hands on the arms of the chair and used them to prop himself up so he was leaning over you, “As much as I have enjoyed our little chat I’m afraid we do not have much time. I really do like you Y/N so I will give you a choice. Join me and together we can help change the world for the better.”
“And if I refuse?” you challenged.
“Well then I guess we’ll have to play a game,” he hummed, leaning away from you, “The second I walk out of this room it will lock and a timer will start. Behind you are two doors, each with a different combination, one door will lead you to the exit, and the other will lead you to me. If you choose to leave then you will be free but you will lose your chance to catch me. If you choose to come after me, then you have a chance to learn the truth at the risk of your freedom. The combinations are hidden in this room and you will have exactly one hour to find them and leave through the door of your choosing, and trust me you don’t want to know what will happen if you run out of time.” San chuckled softly before pulling away and walking behind you, “This is your last chance to accept my offer Y/N, I would hate to lose you like this.” He waited for a moment but when you didn’t respond he sighed, “Very well, let the game begin.” You felt him place something into your hand, which you quickly realized was a key, before the door slammed shut and San was gone.
ღ ღ ღ ღ ღ
It didn’t take you long to unlock yourself, taking a second to rub your wrists as you stood up and made your way cautiously around the room. You did your best to stay calm and not look at the clock as you examined the doors and then looked around for the combinations, which you quickly realized were hidden on his tools. The question was, do you free yourself and turn your back on the case, or do you risk it all and try to go after San. The rational part of your brain was screaming at you to just get out of there and not look back, and yet you quickly found yourself moving on autopilot. Before you could really process what you were doing, you had entered the code for the door labeled “Truth” and ran through it, stepping into a dark hallway and letting the door lock behind you.
You took a moment to compose yourself before heading forward, placing your hands against the walls to help feel your way through the space. All the doors were locked until you came to one at the very end that was cracked open, revealing what looked to be a makeshift office space, with nothing but a desk and filing cabinet in the room. You poked your head through first, looking around for any sign of life before slowly stepping inside and making your way to the desk, only to gasp as you felt another body pin you to it.
“I knew you would come after me,” San whispered, spinning you around so that you were facing him. Your body was pressed between his and the desk, his arms caging you on either side as your eyes locked.
“I can’t let you get away with this,” you argued, trying to wiggle away from him but San was stronger so he held you in place.
“Come on Doll, you and I both know that’s not why you came after me,” he teased, “maybe it was at first but if that was the case now you would be fighting me harder.” He was right, even if he was stronger you knew you could at least hold your own enough to get him away or subdue him long enough to call for help. Yet you couldn’t bring yourself to actually fight him off, struggling against him enough to save your pride but not enough to actually push him off. “So tell me,” San continued, “why did you really come after me, was it because you were curious about my work? Or, was it because deep down you missed me?” Honestly, you weren’t even sure if you knew the answer, your body having reacted before your mind could catch up.
“This isn’t right,” you argued, reaching your hands up to push at his shoulders.
“And yet here we are,” he teased, backing up enough to wrap his arms around you and pull you closer to him. Your bodies pressed together and your arms instinctually made their way around his neck which made him chuckle. “I always knew you were special, you understood me in a way that no one else ever did. Stay with me, nothing will be able to come between us.” San leaned down until your lips were centimeters apart, his breath tickling your lips with every word. You tried not to give into him, knowing that this was wrong, but you also couldn’t deny the thrill that ran through you just from being near him. You had always cared for San when you two were partners, hell there was even a time where you could argue that you did have a crush on him. That was back then however, when he was the sweet and easy going detective that decorated his desk with mini plushies and would whine if you forgot to get him a pastry on your morning coffee runs. This version of San wasn’t like that, even if the allure was still there, he was cold, twisted, and a killer.
“I can’t do this,” you argued, “you’re not the man I once cared about.” You tried to turn your head away from him, but he gripped your chin to force you to look at him.
“Yes I am, behind all of this it is still me and I can prove that to you,” he whispered, “just let me show you.” When you shook your head again he huffed, loosening his grip for a moment before it tightened again, “Fine then, how about another game?”
“I already won your stupid game though!” you challenged.
“Yet you still haven’t learned,” he fought back, “the least you can do is give me a chance to convince you. If you don’t give in then I will go with you to the station and turn myself in, but if I win then you quit being a detective for good and you stay with me.” You gave him a questioning look, at this point more than positive that he had gone insane. However, if playing his dumb games meant putting an end to Jigsaw, then you were more than willing to oblige.
“Alright fine, deal,” you reluctantly agreed. You only had a moment to register Sans smirk before he was pulling you against him again and connecting your lips. One hand stayed pressed against your back to keep you against him, while the other tangled itself in your hair, tugging slightly to get a reaction out of you. The kiss wasn’t rough or forced like you had expected, instead it was gentle and passionate, like he wanted to take his time with you. His lips were surprisingly soft against yours, and you began to slowly melt against his movements. You kissed him back and allowed him to have more control, whining softly against his lips when he tugged a bit harder at your hair. Your own hands trailed down his body, tracing his shoulders and chest for a few moments before daring to go a bit lower. San groaned as he felt you palm him over his robe, tightening his grip on your hair and deepening the kiss as his own hand reached down to grab at your thighs and your ass.
All your resolve melted away at his touch and you found yourself giving into him completely, relishing in the way he invaded your senses. All rationality had left completely, replaced with an unusual desire as San explored your body. As desperate as he was, his touches remained soft and left you craving more whenever he pulled his hand away. San walked you back until you reached the desk, lifting you up enough to sit you on top of it and slotting himself between your thighs as he finally pulled away. You only had a second to catch your breath before you were pushed back slightly and pinned down by your hands. San hovered above you with a knowing smirk, taking a moment to enjoy your flustered expression before leaning down to whisper directly in your ear.
“Looks like I won. Game Over!”

holy fool masterlist | chapter one | next
“Glory be to God, Amen,” you recite to yourself as you finish your prayer, quickly looking around to find a familiar face.
“Angel Blossom!” Poppy shouted a little ways away from you as she walked towards you after the prayer, granted her choice of volume garnered some stares from the other Angels. Poppy didn’t seem to mind though. As long as the prayer was over, it was okay to be happy in the prayer hall.
“Hi my darling Poppy, how are you today?” you asked. Poppy seems to be in a cheery mood tonight, more so than usual.
“I should be asking you that, Blossom,” Poppy replied. You know what she is talking about, tonight is when you head back down to Earth for your first assignment. You haven’t been back down to Earth since that night all those years ago. Not even thinking about the content of that night since a day or so after you returned to Heaven after the fact. Listening to Poppy was most important to you then, and it is the same now. Although you are having much more trouble not thinking about it since Angel Zen has told you about your impending assignment a few weeks back.
“I’m doing okay, nervous,” you respond. You and Poppy have now made it back to your shared room.
“It’s okay to be nervous, it is your first assignment. You will do well. Come on, let's go wash off before we head out,” Poppy ushers you quickly out the room once you gather your clothes towards the communal showering area. You both walk in and there is no other Angel there. Everyone has washed off already, but you and Poppy are washing off again.
Poppy and Angel Zen are still the only ones who know of your past as a human. In the years since becoming an Angel, you’re allowed to be around the others now, but you choose not to be close with them. Of course, you’re cordial, but you couldn’t risk them finding out anything, so you stick to Poppy. You’re truly grateful for Poppy, you don’t know what you did to deserve her. One day, you told her that when you were alive, you would take hot showers when you were stressed or nervous and ever since then when you are nervous or stressed, she takes you straight to the showers to relax.
Initially you never thought you’d be able to get used to the new life you had, thinking that your experience on Earth would make you too bashful for some of the things that Angels are accustomed to. Quickly it became something you got used to. For example, the communal showers do not have any dividers; you’re seeing everyone the way that they were made, but it wasn’t weird. You and Poppy have had many conversations over the years as you washed yourselves like you are now, but it is no different from the talks you have when you are in the comfort of your shared room.
“Your assignment, the family has had two more kids since you have last seen them. A three-year-old and a newborn,” Poppy informs you as she walks to the mirror to get a better look at drying her hair with her towel.
This hurts your heart a bit, you know not everyone has a bad life but from what you have learned in the past couple of months from Poppy, this situation was not too good. You wish you could give the mother the strength to leave, but your focus is on the children and your only job is to protect them to the best of your ability.
“Thank you for telling me, Poppy. Where are you going for your assignment tonight?” You question because Poppy herself is also getting a new assignment tonight.
“I’m going to Cana-da-da-da,” Poppy laughs at you, “apparently they are a sweet family. The grandparents live with the family and one of them will be getting diagnosed with cancer soon. I will be there long enough to help with the blow it will bring to the grandchildren,” she drops her shoulders once the information leaves her mouth. Poppy is a very emotional Angel that always takes things to heart. That is what makes her different from many of the Angels you have encountered. The others aren’t often phased by what they see, just doing their assignments and coming back to pray. A routine they have perfected over time, but Poppy is unique. You’ve had to comfort Poppy a lot because she feels everything from everyone around her.
Once you and Poppy are done washing off, you return to back to your bedroom. “Listen to me Blossom, everything will be okay with the kids. They are strong, I wouldn’t lie to you,” Poppy stated before you both were about to take your leave. “You will be okay, I promise. You can always talk to me through your bond and I will come in a second, now go to those kids,” Poppy pats your back, and you nod at her before transporting to the home of your assignment.
It’s been four years since the air of the Earth has hit your skin. The family from four years ago lives in a new place now, as you transport yourself in the entryway you take in the surroundings of their space. It’s small, a kitchen/dining area, a small living room, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. Poppy’s words are replaying in your mind as you walk to the children’s room. “You’ll be okay Blossom,” you mumble to yourself. The room is small, a bunk bed and a crib. The kid you last saw four years ago taking the top bunk while the toddler is on the bottom bunk, and obviously the baby is in the crib. You move to get in the bed with the toddler, cradling him in your hold. Poppy told you that is what she did, as he is prone to nightmares and this is all that helps.
The children are asleep, and the house is quiet, which leaves you with one thing to do. Think. Four years ago. You physically cringe at the memory and your stupidity. You are certain that if Poppy’s hair wasn’t permanently a bright golden color that it would have grayed instantly that night.
You’ve learned a lot since then, you could understand why Poppy was worried. Even if you had brushed against the man, you would have been a fallen Angel that instant. That goes for touching any non-human unless they are an Angel or a child under the age of twelve. Also witches, even the human ones. You didn’t really understand the witches, though, you knew some who practiced when you were alive, and they were some of the kindest people you knew. But that’s the rules, and you can’t do anything about that.
You still didn’t know anything about the Kings of Hell. You couldn’t genuinely ask because to every other Angel in Heaven, you already knew. Angel Zen was not someone you wanted to talk to more than you had to, and you knew how Poppy felt talking about them. You just hated feeling ignorant, your ignorance is what put you and Poppy in danger in the first place.
Although you feared how the family would fare during your shift, you were more afraid of seeing him. You know it is not a sin to find people attractive, but is it when they are a King of Hell and you’re a Guardian Angel? His sharp jawline and the singsong voice he used when he spoke to you, “shut up Blossom,” scolding yourself for thinking of him. He has definitely forgotten you by now and if he did remember you, it is because you were a Heavenly being who didn’t know he was a King of Hell.
Morning comes quickly, and your assignment shift is almost done. The kids slept soundly, now there is one thing left to do before you go back. Pray over the children. You fall to your knees in front of the window of the room and put your hands together, “God, please protect this family, —” Cinnamon. Cinnamon fills your nostrils and your hands start to tremble. “No, not now, please not now,” you say to yourself before finishing your prayer.
The smell of cinnamon and the feeling of his eyes on you has not left since the beginning of your prayer. This can’t be happening, you think to yourself as you walk to the kitchen, hoping that their mother is cooking breakfast with cinnamon or perhaps lit a cinnamon scented candle? You enter the kid’s room defeated as neither was happening. The feeling of him is strong, but you can’t see him. But you aren’t looking, your eyes have been tightly shut since you entered the room, finding solace again with the toddler. Instead, hoping that this time your nightmare will go away, but it does not.
“I know you are there but please not today. Please — leave me alone,” you begged into the thick tension of the room. You weren’t expecting it to anything, especially for the presence to dissipate as soon as you were finished speaking. He let you off the hook today, and for that, you are grateful.
As you enter back into Heaven you find yourself going straight to the showers in hopes that Poppy has already been back and showered, but as you walk in you see that that was, in fact, not the case. Poppy looks like she has not started showering yet, but the only available spot was right next to her. It isn’t like you would rather not see her, you did want to see her. But you can’t tell her that you felt him. She still hasn’t mentioned that night even when she saw your nervousness before your assignment. Could she have truly forgotten?
You make your way beside Poppy and turn the showers on, warm water instantly hitting your skin. You aren’t sure how the Earth changes your scent, but you know that it does. Even if it is a little bit. “Blossom, how was your first night on assignment?” Poppy questions, the suds from her shampooed hair falling down the side of her face.
“It went well, they had a pretty good night, thankfully,” you answer politely, not meeting her gaze.
“I’m glad. You smell not like how I did when I came back from their assignment?” Poppy inquires. You can feel her eyes on you, and you begin to feel small under her gaze.
“What do you mean?” you ask, hoping that your ignorance will help you with the incoming questions that you know you will receive from her.
“You smell like cinnamon. How come?” her voice is noticeably down a few octaves. Shit, she is on to you. You immediately start thinking of an excuse, anything to save your ass.
“Right before I left for assignment, their father used the bathroom, I’m assuming his stomach had gotten upset from something he consumed the night before. Before too long, the whole apartment was smelling… Not good. His wife woke up a short time after and lit a candle, probably cinnamon,” you chuckle to yourself and move to rinse your hair, “I’m thankful she did, if she didn’t, I would likely smell a lot worse…” you told Poppy, hoping that your lie was enough to fool her.
Poppy nods her head and the rest of the time you and her spend showering was met with silence. After your shower ends, you go to your room to make sure you have everything you need for your prayer. Some Angels take holy books to pray, others take holy memorabilia, others take nothing. It just depends on the mood and the Angel. Tonight you opt to take a holy book while Poppy just makes sure she looks presentable enough to walk into the prayer hall. ‘You know you can tell me anything, Blossom’ Poppy shares with you through your bond. You look at her and smile, showing that you understand and that you will. Your second lie in Heaven tonight, wow you really are the best Angel, sighing to yourself at the hidden thought.
You and Poppy walk shoulder to shoulder into the prayer hall before going to your respective spots. You and Poppy cannot pray together in the prayer hall due to the difference in your ranks. You are the lowest ranked Angel, while Poppy is a few ranks higher than you are. The prayer hall is beginning to fill with Angels which means the official prayer will start soon, but that does not stop other Angels for beginning to pray earlier. You have been in his prayer hall continuously for the past few years, but you don’t think you’ll ever get used to it. The hall is long in length and width, plated with pure gold. The floors are marble and there are cushions of red velvet that act as a barrier for when you fall to your knees during prayer. Contrary to your belief beforehand, there are no statues of Angels because wouldn’t that be weird? Apparently.
The orchestra music pauses, causing you to come back to reality from your thoughts. A high ranked Angel, like Angel Zen for example would start off the prayer and then the remainder of the time Angels would pray about what you feel you needed your attention, or God’s attention. You had three things you wanted to pray on. The first was your ability to lie in Heaven, your faith itself, and —. You pause your last thought. Your prayers go directly to God, and you aren’t sure you want God to know about this yet. But if God is all knowing, then you shouldn’t have to pray about it anyway, right?
After your years of being an Angel you’d expect to be a fierce believer of God, but you are not. You took steps further than you had when you first became an Angel but probably not as much as Poppy would hope. You believe in God, but you don’t feel the need to worship him, you know he exists but is he really worthy of your worship? What makes him more worthy of it than Lord Hades or Lady Athena? This is how you were different from the thousands of other Angels in the prayer hall, you believed in every God’s existence. Your belief would render you an Omnist Pagan, which is why you could never speak of it. That’s why your best friend Poppy could never know that the Angel she worked to help become a pious God-fearing Angel, was a Pagan. During times and thoughts like this you wish you had Dina, where you could speak freely.
Although you believe this way, you have a tremendous amount of guilt. You were given a second chance by people who worship God and you could not even worship him in which others feel he deserves. Lying in a space that it was forbidden to lie, and no one was the wiser. You sat here during prayer and prayed the best way you knew how to change the way you thought, to think like Poppy. That’s what you prayed for. But year after year, nothing changes and occasionally, you don’t feel bad. You’re praying about it, so now it’s out of your hands. You know it truly is not, but that thought helps to keep the guilt from consuming you entirely.
Before you know it, the prayer is over and Poppy is making her way to you. The walk back to you and Poppy’s shared room is quiet but comfortable. You walk in first, and Poppy follows and closes the door once she enters. You sit at your respective beds, allowing your bodies to truly rest after the long night of your assignments and the prayer that followed it.
“What do you intend to do today?” Poppy asks cheerily.
“I think that I will sleep for a couple of hours, then clean for a bit, and I think that I will also read some scriptures. How about you?” you ask while glancing at the Angel.
“I think I will go down to Earth for a bit and bring the holy feel to a couple of churches. You know you don’t have to sleep, right? Angels don’t need to sleep to function,” Poppy clarifies, like you didn’t already know. Ever since becoming an Angel and after those first couple of nights, you truly haven’t been tired, but you still sleep. It helps pass the time and if you’re being honest, you hope that one day you will dream. It hasn’t happened, but every so often you wish that you would be allowed to live the way you wanted through your dreams, but you have not been granted that wish.
“Yes Poppy, I know. It is just something I miss from Earth, it’s grounding. Plus, I only do it for a couple of hours. It isn’t like I do it and then wake up to pray and go to assignment. I guess it is a guilty pleasure, you could say,” you retort back
Poppy doesn’t seem too amused with your response, but you were being honest. Sleeping for a couple of hours wasn’t hurting anyone. “Praying is grounding, Blossom. And that guilty pleasure is what we’d call a sin on Earth,” Poppy jitters, her fists clenched.
“Napping isn’t a sin for people on Earth, Poppy,” you clap back while massaging your temples, your voice beginning to sound volatile.
“It is when you nap and aren’t tired that is what God would consider Sloth, Blossom. Don’t try to tell me what is and what is not a sin. Don’t forget who—” Poppy cuts herself off before saying her last bit, looking up at you with glossy eyes at the thought of what she was about to say to you.
“Is the real Angel,” you say, finishing the sentence that she was going to say. Poppy doesn’t normally share her thoughts with you, opting to keep them to herself. But at that moment, she was too angry to keep herself in that white bubble that she finds comfort in.
“That isn’t what I meant, I’m sorry I thought that. We all struggle, we are all tempted. Every Angel is, if we were not there, would be no fallen Angels. Although what I said about the sin being considered Sloth was true, I really cannot judge you for it, as what I struggle with the most is wrath. You have seen it more than I’d have liked. Please forgive me, don’t take what I say out of anger as truth. Only you know your true intentions, all we can do is try to be better. It doesn’t all happen at once,” Poppy says with an apologetic tone. You can’t lie that what she said and thought didn’t hurt your feelings, but you knew she was sorry. You know that much. If you had seen half of what she has seen, you would likely struggle with wrath too. After the argument, you feel nonverbal, so you opt to go and give her a hug to show her that you aren’t mad. You both stay like that for a while, and for once, Poppy lays with you. You aren’t sure if she falls asleep, but you wake up in her arms. You know this is her way of apologizing and if you’re being honest, you’re grateful to have been held after what you have been through during your first day of assignment, even if she doesn’t know what truly transpired.
Once you wake up from your nap and Poppy goes to do what she had planned to do during her free time, you decide to go back to the prayer hall to read the scriptures. To anyone else, you would be just an Angel reading the Bible. Which would be true, but you’re reading for a slightly different reason. Who are these Kings of Hell. No one has told you nothing. You think it is crucial for you to know, you have learned of one of their existences, and you don’t think you want that to happen in that way again. Poppy said they don’t normally come out, and the man that night didn’t correct her, so it must be true. But what if they decide to come out one day, and you simply don’t know. You still haven’t encountered a Demon since that night. Obviously, you know how to spot one, but if a King of Hell can look like, not a Demon? Then how are you supposed to know. You felt that same man last night, but you still don’t know his name. Aren’t you supposed to know their names, and it gives you leverage over them? You think about that, you aren’t sure how true it is, but you remember it being talked about from the second Conjuring movie. You laugh to yourself, getting information about Demons from a movie that you saw before you died. Comical.
You read for hours and find nothing. Obviously, the seven sins themselves are talked about, but not the Kings who rule over them. Why are there eight Kings but seven deadly sins? This makes no sense, and you wish someone would just tell you. “Angel,” a gruff voice calls from behind you. You look behind your shoulder to see none other than Angel Zen himself.
“Yes, Angel Zen,” you reply softly to the man who seems to be in a good mood currently.
“Reading scriptures for fun?” he questions, an eyebrow raised. You don’t even know if this Angel has the capability of being in a good mood. Alas, you keep a curt smile on your face while speaking with him.
“Not for fun, but to learn. You can never read too much when it comes to scriptures,” you answer, hoping that the conversation will end soon.
“That is correct, Angel. The orchestra will start soon, so go get ready for prayer,” he instructs before shooing you away with his hand. After the interaction, you walk to your room to get clothes before walking to the showers. As you enter the orchestra, music begins to play, and Angels begin entering the showers. As the showers fill, you begin to wash off with the soap and wash rag. You know the whole point of no scent in the soap is so you will only smell like your scent, but every so often you miss being able to wash yourself with soap that smelled like cotton candy or something magical like that. As you finish your shower and are leaving to go back to your room to get ready for the prayer, Poppy comes in. She smiles at you brightly before going to the shower that you just occupied. If you see her tonight before your assignment, it will only be briefly after the prayer.
The walk to your room was short, and you didn’t really have much to do to get ready for prayer. You decided to bring a cross with you this time instead of the Bible. Honestly, you’re a bit nervous to going out tonight, so the cross will help with your fidgeting during the prayer. If you’re being honest you want answers, but you know the likelihood of you getting them is not strong, but you just wish you could know what everyone else does.
And just as quick as the prayer started, it ended just as swiftly. You’re used to looking over your shoulder to see Poppy, but she hasn’t quite made it to you yet. She’s walking your way and as you go up to meet her, she walks right past. She didn’t even look your way. You look around for the only other Angel that you know, Angel Zen. Once you find him, you make brief eye contact before he moves his gaze back to the Angel he was just speaking to.
You sprint back to your room to find Poppy. Once you enter, you see her back, as she is clawing through the drawers with an urgency that you haven’t seen in years. “Poppy,” you cried out, tears threatening to fall down your eyes. She turns around and glances at you but does not make eye contact. Without a word, she is gone. Likely having transported herself to her assignment.
You fall to the floor, your lower limbs having given out on you. Your throat feels like it is closing, and your spit is falling out of your mouth as you sob. ‘Poppy, what did I do wrong, please Poppy’ you ask through your bond, hyperventilating in the position you find yourself in. You try to get up to go to your bed, Poppy having decided not to respond to you. As you’re walking to where your bed sits, your vision gets no better. Your sight is going in and out, and your head is getting lightheaded. You feel your body give out, you come back to reality as soon as your head hits the floor, only having passed out for a few seconds. You opt to lay there because you know you are not strong enough to hold your body up right now. You think of Dina, and how she would help you during your panic attacks.
“Hey Dina, we have the same schedule this week,” you cheered, happy that you and your best friend will see each other a lot the following week. Your best friend jumps up and down with her hands cupping her face, sharing the same excitement. Working at the bakery shop was fun, especially when it was the graveyard shift. All you and Dina did was bake throughout the night, and doing light decorating. The morning shift would come in and do more thorough decorating.
“The owner said we have to bake this huge cake tonight, to not even worry about the small stuff, that he would come in and bake those later in the shift,” Dina says with wide eyes.
“Jeez, how big is the cake?” you question Dina, never has your owner came in to make baked goods. Your manager, sure. The owner? Never.
“We’ll have to see once we get there,” Dina says, and you both walk out the door with pep in your steps because you have got to see what this cake is all about.
“Dina, this is not what I was expecting,” you say with your mouth agape in shock. This cake has so much to it. It’s a gigantic house, three stories. Chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, and strawberry were the flavors that you had to use. But not one part of the cake had to be a certain flavor, but one room in the house had to be a swirl of all the flavors? What an odd request. “I feel bad for who has to frost the cake, they want eight different colors for their frosting. They also want it swirled for that one room,” you tell Dina, still in shock.
“Who even ordered this anyway?,” Dina asks while looking at the ticket, “Kang Yeosang”, Dina says while popping her tongue against the roof of her mouth.
“Well Kang Yeosang better tip us a million fucking dollars Dina,” you laugh to yourself.
“He better, he definitely has a lot of money. Now let's get to baking, the owner of the whole bakery didn’t say not to worry about anything else tonight for a reason.
You and Dina spend the next twelve hours baking the odd request, whenever it got hard you found yourself cursing the man who ordered it because truly, why did he need such an absurd cake? Alas, you have finished baking everything, now all that is left is for the other bakers to frost it and put it together. You really hope this Yeosang dude likes this cake. And will actually pay for it. It would be unfortunate if he didn’t.
As you and Dina move to leave the kitchen, you bump into the table and one of the pieces falls on the floor. You gasp and look at Dina with fear in your eyes, which has replaced the sleepiness you were feeling prior. Your legs begin to give out, and you begin to hyperventilate, and your heart is beating so fast that you fear it may fall out of your chest.
“Hey lovie, you’re okay, listen to my voice,” Dina says in a hope to calm you down.
“I fu-fuc-fucked it all up Dina. I’m going to g-get fired, and I can’t get fi-fired,” you choke out, stuttering on your words as spit begins to still in your throat. Dina rubs your back and engulfs you in a hug, making sure that the fluorescent lights of the room are out of your line of vision.
“Hey, I know it is frustrating, but mistakes happen. And what fell on the ground was sphere shaped, no one will be mad at that for falling. There is a reason why no one orders sphere shaped cakes,” Dina coos into your ear softly, still rubbing your back, “If anything, we should blame the man who ordered the cake. What was his name? Oh right, Kang Yeosang. It’s all his fault. Big ass cake for a small ass bakery shop,” Dina mocks, causing you to laugh into her chest.
“I’m sorry Dina,” you mumble, having calmed down.
Dina playfully turns her head, “Nothing to be sorry for lovie, now I’ll go tell the owner, and you can put in four more sheets of vanilla batter in the oven. The other bakers don’t even get here until another hour, it’ll be okay,” Dina says soft but clearly before leaving the room.
The owner wasn’t mad, but made a mental note to put the spheres into a container so they wouldn’t fall again. The cakes are ready before you and Dina leave for the day, so you take them out of the oven so they can cool before leaving with Dina after clocking out. You and Dina walk together with your arms interlocked on your way home, ready for the sleep that you are about to have.
“I miss Dina,” you sigh to yourself. The memory is a fond one and it helped you calm down after your panic attack. You haven’t had one in a while, but when you did, Poppy was the one who helped you through it. Now, she caused it. But you don’t dwell on the thought for too long, you know you’re already late to your assignment. You just wish you knew what you did wrong.
The kids appear to be sleeping soundly in their beds. “It should be a good night,” you think to yourself before situating yourself next to the toddler. You opt to sit on the floor and just play with his hair instead of laying with him, you hope this will keep his nightmares at bay just as well.
You wonder if he will come again tonight. You sigh and roll your eyes to yourself, still not knowing what name to put with that man you saw four years ago. “Why can’t I just know his name?,” you mumble to yourself quietly. And like he knew your thoughts and could hear that whisper the scent of cinnamon began to fill your nostrils. You close your eyes and try to ignore it. It is hard, the scent has gotten strong in a short amount of time. You wonder if the kids can smell it? Surely, they have to. After a minute or so, you’re hoping that he — or at least the scent, will go away. The noise of poking at the window startles you, causing you to look that way. The same man from all those years ago is situated on the other side, you meet his gaze, and he smiles cheekily at you.
“Come see me Cherry, it’s been a while,” he urged. You think about it, you have been wanting to know more about him, but you aren’t supposed to speak to him. You could call Poppy and tell her a King of Hell has found you again, but she definitely does not want to talk you right now. “Please, Cherry,” the man begs, asking again. You get up and walk to the window, being mere inches away from the man, the only thing separating you was glass that you knew he could break if he really wanted to. You look at him, but he doesn’t make eye contact, he’s studying you, taking in your features after all these years.
You can see he is about to speak, about to ask you a question and fear suddenly envelops you. He pokes at the window to get your attention, nodding his head to the side to ask you what’s wrong. You break the eye contact suddenly feeling embarrassed. “Hey Cherry, let me—,” you shut the curtains in his face before he can finish his statement, “Come on,” the man shouts in shock. The man’s reaction causes you to laugh, and you can’t seem to control your laughter either, replaying what you think his face would’ve looked like in your mind. “Cherry, you think this funny, but I have been waiting to see you for years,” the man stumbles over his words, obviously shocked that you closed the curtains in his face. “So you can come over to see me, but you can’t speak?,” the man inquires, hoping that you will answer. He doesn’t know that you’ve already situated yourself back with the sleeping toddler, but his continues efforts to converse with you do make you chuckle. “Okay you may not answer me, but I’m not leaving,” he says one last time before going silent.
He stays true to his word, the longer the night goes the more sparse his attempts at talking to you are. He does, in fact, not leave, the smell of cinnamon fills your nostrils until you transport yourself back to Heaven. He doesn’t even leave when you pray over the children throughout the night, he was one persistent Demon.
Once you are back in Heaven, you go straight to your room to get ready for your shower. You don’t expect to see Poppy, and you are correct. She isn’t there and neither are her things. Not even your bed. You contemplate being sad for a second, but it isn’t worth it. You shrug at the sight before going to the showers to wash away the smell of cinnamon that you know lingers on your skin.
Once you enter the showers, there are only two open. One next to Poppy and another next to another Angel who you do not know the name of. You had always showered next to Poppy because you aren’t allowed to be friends with any other Angels, but if she can be petty, then so can you. You walk right past Poppy, and you can feel her eyes on you, but you don’t pay her any mind. ‘What are you doing, Blossom,’ the nerve she has, speaking through to you through your bond. You don’t reply or give any indication that you even heard the thought, continuing to wash your hair and your body quickly. Once you are finished, you walk back to your room. You’ve decided to bring your Bible and your cross with you to prayer today. Your cross to squeeze in your hand and the Bible to remind you that you are, in fact, in a prayer hall.
You walk to the prayer hall, taking your normal spot. You actually try to pray with everyone else today because if you don’t, you think you may blow up. ‘Blossom,’ you hear through your bond with Poppy. It takes everything in you to not whip your head around and look in your direction, but you don’t. You keep your composure in the prayer hall, you hope that prayer is done soon because you feel like you need to scream into the void of the Earth. ‘Angel Blossom to you, only speak to me if it is important,’ you reply through your bond.
Once the prayer ends you book it straight to your room, you definitely need to scream into the pillow. Once you enter your room and shut your door, it is being reopened just moments later. Poppy is standing in the doorway, where she stays for a few seconds before fully coming in and closing the door behind her. “We have to talk,” Poppy exclaims, taking a few steps towards you.
“No fucking shit, Poppy. Of course, we have to talk,” you bite back, venom lacing your voice.
“You don’t curse in Heaven, Angel,” Poppy replies, her forehead creasing with anger.
“And you’re in Heaven too and that hasn’t stopped you from acting like an asshole, so that’s that, Poppy. Nice talk,”
“Don’t be like that,” Poppy replies, her face having became softer in the past few seconds.
“Don’t be like what? Be forced to be someone’s friend that someone isn’t allowed to have more friends besides you. Hmmm.. What else? Oh! Out of nowhere, stop talking to them and move out of your shared room for the past few years in less than twenty-four hours after ignoring them! Yes, let’s not be like that, Poppy,” you hiss, not caring for who could hear you at that moment.
“You got too comfortable, and my rank increased. I had to move,” Poppy says, glancing at the floor.
“Too comfortable? I live uncomfortably in here,” you whisper this, just loud enough for Poppy to hear.
“I’m sorry. We still have our bond, so call if you need. I couldn’t answer today due to being in a meeting, but don’t call for me unless it is urgent. And for God’s sake, tell that Demon to leave you alone. Don’t fall because of him,” Poppy says with urgency in her voice.
“You weren’t in a meeting. I saw you leave. Don’t lie to me, and what Demon are you talking about” you question Poppy.
“Don’t play stupid, everyone can smell his scent on you. He’s the King of Hell for crying out loud, his scent lingers even if you don’t touch him. And I needed to go to an important meeting, excuse me for having misspoke,” Poppy retorts.
“Whatever Poppy. Maybe if you actually talked to me before assuming stuff you would know I haven’t talked to nor felt that Demon. The reason I smelled like cinnamon today was because the kids mother made a homemade cinnamon inspired dish and their father got mad, and he threw them at the kids because the two youngest started to cry,” you respond, the lie easily falling from your lips. You glance at Poppy, and she is believing it. “And I stepped in front of them so they would have time to move out of the way so they wouldn’t get burned by the hot food. Of course, it still went through me, but it distorted time just enough to give them enough time to get out of the way. So excuse me for doing my job as a Guardian Angel, Poppy. You can tell anyone that story who doubts me. They know just as well as you do that Earthly scents linger. So stop projecting your worries onto me, I can handle myself,” you say to Poppy in a mocking tone, laughing to yourself as you speak.
“You can handle yourself so well, very funny coming from the one who killed themselves,” Poppy hissed.
“Get out,” you shout at the Angel before throwing the wooden cross in your hand at her, she teleported just in time to not get hit by the cross. You aren’t even sad at her statement, but just angry. You feel betrayed, she knew how much that fact about yourself haunted you, but she used it against you in a moment of anger anyway. If you knew better you would say that wasn’t her at all.
During your leisure time between assignments you didn’t have to stay in Heaven. You opted to do so because of the dangers that you had been warned of, but now you don’t really care. So you decide to go out to Earth during your spare time, albeit you find yourself on the peer. You lean against the new wood that was used to fix what you broke all those years ago.
“Cherry,” after hearing the nickname that you have come a bit to accustomed to when you ventured down to the Earth, you whip your head around towards the voice. The man leans against the peer with you, his body is turned towards you and not the water. You look back out the water instead of answering him, taking in the smell of the sea. “Still not talking to me pretty?,” questioning you softly.
“I would, but you’re a bit mean,” you exclaim, still not moving your gaze towards him.
“I am not!,” he says in a surprised tone, which makes you look at him. You giggle at his reaction, his mouth opened in shock at your statement. He definitely was offended.
“A King of Hell isn’t mean? I should talk to the other seven to let them know you aren’t doing your duty of being a big bad wolf?,” he rolls his eyes at you dramatically, turning to look at the water.
“Okay now you know that is not what I meant,” he retorts.
“How else was I supposed to take it then?,”
“I am not mean to you my little cherry blossom,”
“I feel flattered,” you say sarcastically
“You should,” the man says before taking a couple of steps, “what are you even doing down at Earth when you aren’t on assignment?,”
“It isn’t forbidden for me to come down to Earth during my free time you know?,”
“Yes, I know. But it is odd, coming to this space in specific,”
You know why it is odd, the peer is empty when it would normally be full of people. “How come?,”
“You really don’t know?,” he questions you. You shake your head no to him in response.
“A few years back, someone drove off the peer. The city fixed it but no one ever really comes besides paranormal investigators and teenagers who decide it’s cute to do a Ouija board,” the man explains.
“That’s so sad,” you say sorrowfully, “Does that person ever answer their calls? You know the teenagers and paranormal investigators?,”
“No,” he sighs, “they were always an enigma,”
His words pique your interest, you had never really talked about the surroundings of your death before. “How so? If you don’t mind me asking, of course,” You question.
“Well to me, they were an enigma from the start. I wanted to see the body because when someone dies they have a marking that shows if their soul went to Heaven or Hell. For Hell, it’ll have that marking with a number, the number showing which ruler you spend eternity with,” he pauses to look down at the ocean, “the person who killed themselves had the marking of Hell with an infinity sign and the sign of Heaven,”
The revelation that he makes to you makes the blood in your body run cold. You’re glad that he was not looking at you, and you were not looking at him because the look on your face would have given you away instantly.
“That is really strange, did you try looking for them?” you question, thankful that the anxiety you felt could not be shown in your voice.
“We never tried, Heaven is quick to come to find the people who are meant to go there. I just wonder what they said when they saw the symbol of Hell with an infinity sign next to us. None of us Kings could ever figure out what that meant,” he sighs, “Did you ever see them?,” he questions.
“No, if I’m being honest I don’t think any Angel has,” they definitely haven’t, no one knows your true story. “But for something like that, I don’t think it’d be made known,”
“You’re right. They have a memorial plaque at the entrance of the peer. Did you see it?,”
“No,”
The man gestures you to follow him down the peer towards the entrance. The plaque has a picture that you and Dina had taken together a couple of months before your death’s, both of your names, with a simple “Rest Easily” engraved on it as well.
“I thought there was only one person who passed away in this tragedy?,” you ask while looking at the plaque.
“There was only one, but both of them died that night. They were best friends. The dispatch call was made public, I just don’t think they could live without her,” his words sting, but they hold true. “You know, their dad got on the television crying over their death,” he states, voice having now gone monotone.
What the Hell. What in the actual Hell. “I just think that, if you’re a good dad, your child wouldn’t disown you, you know?,” He looks at you after he stops talking.
“I agree, did he say they didn’t talk?” you question.
“Yes, the whole interview was a bit bizarre. I just know Hongjoong will be the one dealing with him once he dies,” he grumbled.
You look up at him, a bit confused about what he means by the name. Who is Hongjoong?
“Hongjoong is the King of Kings when it comes to Hell. Although seven of the eight of us rule over specific sins, he rules over them all. He’s the most important one,” You nod at his explanation, deciding not to ask more questions. He will tell you if he'd like.
“Where did she go?,” your curiosity getting the better of you once you focus back on the plaque.
“Her death was something different, difficult to explain. But let’s not talk about it,”
This saddens you, he wouldn’t have a problem telling you she went to Hell, so you don’t understand why he is being so secretive now.
“May I ask you a question, Mr. King of Hell?,” He chuckles at the name you gave him, but nods at you nonetheless.
“Still don’t know my name?,” he asks, and you nod, looking away as the embarrassment creeps up on your cheeks.
“Can you take me to where she is buried?,”
“Which one?,”
You weren’t expecting him to ask that question. “Dina,”
“Yes, we’ll have to walk through since I cannot teleport you there,”
“You’re right about that, I’d have nowhere to go if I became a fallen Angel,” you joke.
“You’d come to Hell with me,” he remarked like it was obvious.
The rest of the walk is spent in silence until you come upon a cemetery. Once you get to her grave, your body almost becomes too much for your feet to handle. You hold your composure, you really wish the Demon wasn’t with you right now so you could cry.
“I don’t feel anything,” you whispered. You sit down at her grave, before your feet end up failing you.
The Demon sits down next to you, but far enough away that you wouldn’t be in danger of touching him. “You don’t usually feel anything, Cherry,” acknowledging what you whispered to yourself.
You get up quickly, the feeling of the cemetery becoming too overwhelming. “I need to go, thank you for today,” you muttered quickly before transporting yourself to back to Heaven. You didn’t even give him a chance to speak back, but you really didn’t feel like crying in front of a Demon today.
You arrived in Heaven right on time, the orchestra having started mere moments after transporting into your room. You didn’t realize how long you had been out, but at least you weren’t late. You do your usual routine, no Poppy in site. Not that you really cared too much, but you still looked for the familiarity. She also hasn’t graced the prayer hall with her presence either, which is odd.
If you’re being honest, you really do miss Poppy. Being bonded with her means that you miss her subconsciously, as she to you.
“Everyone listen up,” Angel Zen announces, “I want to make sure everyone is paying attention today as God has a message that, I think, would be crucial for some of you to hear,” he makes eye contact with you as he says it which causes chills to run up your spine.
“Everything you do, God knows. Every conversation you have, God hears. Everything you feel, God feels. Everything you see, God sees as well. Every single Angel in this room is privileged to be an Angel. Don’t forget it. Don’t be reckless,” Angel Zen commanded.
The rest of the prayer goes by as normal, but you can’t shake that feeling that you get when you think about the words that Angel Zen said to begin the prayer. It’s a reality check, you can’t keep doing what you are doing. After finding out the information that you did earlier, you truly think you’d be fucked. The symbol of Hell with an infinity sign? You’d surely be in the deepest pits of Hell right now if it weren’t for your Guardian Angel.
Once the prayer ends, you walk to your room to retrieve your cross and your Bible to take with you on assignment, you can’t take any more risks with that Demon. Although you’re nervous, you have a job to do.
Once you arrive at your assignment, you find the baby is awake. You have always had a soft spot for kids, so you are grateful that you are a Guardian Angel for them. You don’t want the baby to cry, so you do your best to help the baby girl fall asleep quickly.
The knocks on the window shock you, almost causing you to scream. Your energy is enough to wake the kids up if you are not calm, so it is really irritating when that Demon scares you. Seriously, you have to ask him what he did with his scent. You didn’t smell it when he was with you earlier. At least you knew he was coming then. You ignore it, but his knocks do not pause. Eventually, you walk up to the window.
“Go away,” you ordered, trying your best to sound serious.
“Let me in,” he requested.
“No,”
“After everything I did for you today?,” he asked with a pout.
You hate that he was right, he did a lot for you today. But you did bring a cross and a Bible… so maybe he can’t come near you anyway. You flash the Bible and the cross at him, to which he rolls his eyes. Now that was rude, you thought to yourself.
“That doesn’t bother me. I’m not a vampire,” he says matter-of-factly.
“Fine, come in,” you mutter under your breath, instantly he is in the room with you. He smirks at you after getting his way.
“What are their names?,”
“The kids? I’m not telling you,” you stated.
“And why not?,”
“Because you still haven’t told me yours,”
“Wow, you would think they would’ve told you our names, or at least mine after I scared the living daylights out of your friend,”
“You’re telling me,”
“Take a guess, you could get it right,”
“Hmm… You want to know what you look like?,”
“Yes,”
“You look like a buffoon,”
“That’s mean,”
“You asked me to guess,”
“You’re not like any Angel I’ve ever met Cherry,”
“For my sake, please don’t elaborate,”
“I won’t,”
For a while, the two of you don’t continue the conversation. You sit in the silence for a while, you hold the hand of the toddler while the Demon sits by the crib, watching you.
“Which sin do you think I rule over?,” the Demon asks.
“Well, you said that all of you don’t really come out often, but out of the seven sins it would make the most sense for gluttony and lust to come to Earth. And you’re a bit of a flirt, so I’d say you rule over lust,” you answered, not expecting to be correct. One thing you have learned over the years is that not everything is as it seems.
“Correct,” he said happily.
“Wow, I wasn’t expecting to be right,”
“You’re smart Cherry,”
His compliment makes you blush, and you’re glad that he doesn’t tease you. “Their names are Eric, Sebastian, and Ariel. Like The Little Mermaid,” you say to distract from your nervousness
“It fits them perfectly, don’t you think?,” he questions, looking back at the crib.
“Yes,” you whispered.
“My name is Wooyoung,” his voice trembled as he spoke, like he was afraid that his name would steer you away. His name was beautiful, and you couldn’t hide the grin that plastered your face once he told you his name.
“You have a beautiful name,” you reassure him.
“Are you afraid to say it?,” Wooyoung quips.
“If I say it three times will you show up?,”
“No,” the man chuckles, “I can show up when you say it once, if you say it with the intent of wanting me to show up,” Wooyoung informs you.
“That is nice to know, no one really tells me anything,”
“Do they really keep Angels ignorant on Hell and its beings?,” Wooyoung questions.
“Yes, at least me,” you tell him, not caring about the cons of doing so.
“May I ask you a question Cherry?,”
“Yes,”
“Why do they keep you ignorant, if they know a King of Hell is out to get you?,”
“They probably want you to take me away,” you say before realizing the words that have fallen from your mouth. You put your hand over your mouth like it would’ve taken back what you said, but it wouldn’t. The tears fall from your eyes before you can stop them.
“Cherry, please don’t cry. Why would you think Heaven doesn’t want one of its Angels?,” he says, trying to comfort you.
“I can’t say,” you whisper, looking up at the man who is now a lot closer to you than he previously was. “I’ve already told you too much,”
“You can tell me anything and everything,”
“I can’t,”
“Why can’t you?,”
“Because, you’re a King of Hell, and I’m a Guardian Angel. That isn’t a good combination,”
“It doesn’t have to be that way,”
“What do you want with me anyway,”
“Do you remember what I told you the first time we met,”
“That you were searching for the love of your life?,”
“Yes, what does that have to do with me Wooyoung?,”
“Just listen to me, the eight other Kings and I are destined to have the same lover,”
“You are all dating each other?,”
“No, we are all destined to be with the same person,”
“Like a poly relationship?,”
“Yes,”
“So eight people dating one person?,”
“Yes, Cherry,”
“Well I am happy for you, but I’m still confused on how I am involved, do you need me to help you look for them? I figured you’d have enough people who’d be willing to do that for you anyway,” you scoff.
“Cherry, it’s you,” his words leave you baffled. There is no way you are a soulmate to a King of Hell, let alone eight.
“Get out,” you hiss.
“Let me explain,”
“Get out,”
“If you wish, but I’ll be near, you know that,”
“Get out,”
—“Cherry, please don’t cry.
“Get out,”
“If you wish, but I’ll be near, you know that,”
“Get out,”
It’s been an hour or so since you kicked the man out, and you should feel bad. You just couldn’t grasp how he came to that realization. He didn’t know you and you didn’t know him. You haven’t even known his name for a full day yet, and he’s telling you that you’re destined to be the soulmate of eight Demons? As a Guardian Angel? He is out of his mind.
You begin to cry out of frustration, you knew his interest in you was weird, but you didn’t expect this. You are glad he found you when you were an Angel and not a human because had he found you earlier, he likely wouldn’t have hesitated to take you back to Hell.
He surely didn’t think it through, he could end up hating you. Or the other Kings. Then what? Do they kill you? Torture you for eternity? For someone as old as him he should know better. He should have known you would never go with him.
As soon as the sun comes up, you know it’s time for you to go back. You hope he will leave you alone, and you hope to put this behind you.
As soon as you reach Heaven, you go to find Angel Zen. As much as you hated asking for help, you knew you needed his. You go to the prayer hall, not even bothering to shower yet. You see him talking to another Angel towards the front of the prayer hall.
“Angel Zen, I need your help,” you shout, causing the other Angel to run off somewhere.
“Why are you in here unbathed?,”
“I apologize, but I need your help,”
“What do you need?,”
“I need a new assignment, I need something else to do, please believe me,”
“Why is that?,”
“Please, I have already lost everything,”
“Once you start playing with fire, you need to learn how to hose yourself off,”
You fall to your knees as sobs begin to fall down your mouth, you didn’t know what else to do. You don’t know how to save yourself, you’re alone in this battle.
“I will see what I can do, it is challenging to find an Angel to take your spot. Every Angel has its purpose. Angels fall every day, so it makes it harder. But you are strong, resisting lust’s charm. I will try since you are such a strong little Angel. But next time, don’t mess with something that you know you can’t handle,”
Relief fills your being as you hear that Angel Zen will help you. Although he was still his same unkind self, he was willing to help you. A human quality of stubbornness helped you in a time of need, which you are grateful.
“Now go shower. Never come in the prayer hall with the smell of Earth on you ever again,” Angel Zen commands as he points to the exit of the prayer hall. You are out instantly, going straight to get your clothes and going to the showers. You wash off the contents of the day before going back to the prayer hall with your Bible in hand.
Once you enter the prayer hall, you sit down in your assigned spot. You begin to read the Bible to pass the time before the actual prayer starts. You have to become more serious with this — more believing. Or Angel Zen’s help would have been in vain. If anything, you know when to be grateful. Even though you are sure that your relationship with Poppy is irreparable, her faith in God is admirable as an Angel. You aspire to believe in the way she does, maybe if you did you wouldn’t have gotten in this mess at all.
Once the prayer ends, you feel empty. Poppy is still nowhere to be seen and instead of her walking up to you, it is Angel Zen.
“I have been able to find a replacement but not for tonight. Can you handle one more night on your assignment?,” Angel Zen questions.
“Yes, sir, I can handle one more night on assignment,” you answer honestly.
“Okay. Don’t let the Demon become any of the wiser. Come to me after you finish the assignment,”
“Yes sir,”
After your conversation with Angel Zen, you go straight to your room to recuperate. Perhaps now, you can become more focused on what is more important. Maybe you can see Poppy. But at least you know that after tonight, you will no longer have to see that Demon again.

Bodyguard 2 (Mingi)
Having cookies for breakfast probably wasn't ideal but they made your heart happy so cookies it was.
You did notice a few missing from the sheet.
You had an idea of who the cookie thief was but didn't bring it up. Chuckling at the idea of your big burly bodyguard having a sweet tooth.
With his daily dose of mouth numbingly bitter coffee that he made that filled the entire kitchen with the smell of slightly burnt coffee beans.
He never really seemed to be the kind to indulge you but he occasionally did.
Bringing you sweet treats during your work breaks or picking you up bridal style for when your feet hurt from walking in those painful yet pretty high heels he picked out for you.
As he injected himself into your life like slow poison creeping into your life.
When you did begin to notice it was too late he had already sunk his fangs so far into you it would be impossible to fight him off.
He had your routine down to the very last detail.
From when you woke up in the morning to when you went to sleep.
Making the excuse that he was just doing his job when following you around like a shadow.
When he couldn't shadow you he watched you through the many cameras he had placed around the house in plain view the others he had discreetly hidden in your bedroom his own personal reality show starring his favourite doll.
It was wrong but he was too selfish to care. His life was boring and bleak and you came in like a ray of sunshine.
It didn't take long before his obsession got out of hand you were his coping mechanism from the night terrors he regularly suffering from. The PTSD from his time in the military gave him insomnia those sleepless nights when the voices in his head got too loud watching you or being around you helped ground him it helped him clutch onto the little ounce of sanity he had left.
He could never let you know his real feelings for you what if you pushed him away what if you made your father hire a new bodyguard he couldn't let that be. For the first time in his life he has something precious something worth living for he can't let that get away from he won't let anyone steal you away from him. Not your loser friends not even the sleezebags that hit on you.
He had to isolate you make you feel like no one was there for you except him. It wouldn't take him too much time. He was used to playing mind games. He was trained in psychological warfare little you didn't stand a chance in the first place.
Your father was overworked and stressed to the hilt it didn't take him too much time to manipulate him to increasing your security and limiting your public interactions all it took was him to forge up some face evidence of a possible kidnapping for ransom. He hired some lowlife criminal to stage an abduction it was simple really.
You were on your way back home you insisted on walking back without him. His presence was overbearing and suffocating at times. You were grateful for his dedication to his work but having someone tail you 24 hours of the day made life suffocating.
It was like he was a ghost haunting you whenever you looked over your shoulder he was there. He was there right around every single corner. You could almost smell his cologne on you even though he never once touched you. It was like his scent had seeped into your bones and nested itself in you.
You just needed some fresh air you need some time away from the intoxication of him.
He hesitantly agreed to let you out of a short post dinner walk around the neighborhood. Reminding you to keep your location on at all times and to text him the moment you felt even something go slightly wrong.
The relief from finally getting some alone time was rather short lived.
As you were so caught up in the moment you didn't notice the van circling up to until the Masked men grabbed you of the curb to your house yanking you away from the safety of familiarity.
He had hired a few lowlife thugs to abduct you off the block he made them drive around in circles.
The dark tinted windows on the van made it impossible for you to figure out where exactly you were.
They bound you down stuffing a dirty rag into your mouth muffling your screams of terror.
He made them rough house you slapping you around until your lips bled. Tossing you between them like a rag doll. He made them tell you all the nasty things they would do to you and that there was nothing you could do to stop them.
Which they were happy to oblige they got to terrorize a pretty little thing like all the while getting payed for it what more could they ask for.
They had been only driving around for a few hours but it felt like an eternity to you.
Mingi knew exactly where you were as he drove close following the van. He could here what exactly those men were doing to you through the live feed camera if it was a decent man he would be disgusted by the sight but he took some sick pleasure in you screaming out for help especially when he caught you screaming out his face it sent blood rushing straight down making the strain on his pants almost uncomfortable.
He decided you had enough torture for the day as he rear ended the van before ripping the door wide open the look of desperation and relief that flooded your tear stained eyes sent a chill down his spine.
You were too dazed to notice the knowing look the men in the van gave him as he pulled out his firearm making them promptly leave the scene with you in his arms.
He placed you inside he couldn't get your hands off him it wasn't like he was complaining but he needed to make you break completely before he could have you.
As he silently drove you back home relaying to your father that he had you and you were safe.
Under usual circumstances he would have himself cleaned and bandaged your bloody and bruised body himself but he needed you to feel disgusted by yourself he needed you to be desperate for his validation. He wanted you to feel guilty for not listening to him in the first place and be absolutely desperate to make it up to him.
He gave you the cold shoulder and left you in your room for the doctor to patch you up.
It broke his heart to see you sobbing alone in your room all he wanted to do was to wrap his arms around and tell you that it was going to be okay but his indifference was necessary for his plan to work out.
The rest of the week he maintained his cold demeanour only speaking when absolutely necessary and taking his meals alone in his office.
This was killing you he had become the only constant in your life and now he was shutting you out all because you didn't listen to him and landed yourself in trouble he wouldn't even look at you he made you feel like you were dirty as if you were responsible for what happened and now not even worth the trouble to reprimand.
You just wanted some reaction out of him scream , shout anything just anything but this deafening silence.
He could see you slowly start to break you began to talk less your appetite had dwindled and you started to get paranoid of everything and everyone around you. The fact that he hired some of his old military buddies to stalk you and rile you up. He had them show up when you were with your friends instructing them to stare you down or follow you close behind when you were out making sure you never had a moment of peace. Making them pass demeaning and vulgur comments at you. He knew you could do nothing about it.
He planted a seed of fear in you that all but consumed you slowly eating away from the inside leaving you feeling rotten.
You refused to leave the house let alone your room. Spending most of your days locked in trying to distract yourself with anything that would hold your attention.
When you did come out it was like watching a ghost roam around the halls of the mansion.
You felt so cold so alone. You just wanted some warmth as you felt the chill seeping into your bones.
It was the weekend usually you and Mingi would be curled up on the sofa either watching some cheesy romcom or some corny horror movie stuffing your face with treats he would bring at your request.
Your eyes lingered on the tv the blank screen showing yourself staring back at you.
You could hear the sound of feet click at a distance maybe you could convince him to spend some time with you and atleast watch a movie.
You sprinted to catch him before he disappeared again.
Mingi you all but shouted
His figure merely turned around to acknowledge you. Raising an eyebrow waiting for you to continue.
*Can we watch a movie together?* You looked at him expectantly. He wouldn't say no to you but at this point your self esteem had been so shattered you began to doubt that he would fullfill your simple request. It made you feel pathetic and worthless weren't you even worth a few hours of time. Tears were clouding your eyes at you watched him contemplate.
"No" was all he said as he headed back.
That was the final blow to your self worth it felt like he had thrown a rock into the house of cards that was your mental health.
You couldn't take it anymore you just wanted something anything good or bad it didn't matter. He broke you so bad that you would be willing to lick his affection off a knife if that's what it came down to.
The flood gates opened.
"Why not. You are my bodyguard and you'll do what I say and I'm not asking I'm telling you that you will watch a movie with me".
You couldn't help but cringe at your tone and how utterly immature you were sounding right now.
To which he simply replied. " I will not Y/N I have work to do . The world doesn't revolve around you and for your information it's your precious father that pays me and not you. All you can expect from he is to keep you safe nothing more nothing less got it. So stop being an entitled brat and let me do my job."
Was that all you were to him another job what was all the hours spent together what happened to the pet names he called you. Your name felt like poison on his tongue. He was always there for you like your shadow and now he had grown distant like strangers.
"No !! No ... No it's not fair you can't just leave me like this . I know I messed up but you can't treat me like I'm fucking invisible. You will do as I say "
Your cries turning into howling begging him to stay even for just a little while you just wanted to feel human again not just like some object. You just wanted to feel something anything this numbness and fear was turning you insane.
From demanding to pleading anything and everything you tried. Hurtling insults at him singing praise anything you didn't care that your throat was on fire from the ordeal.
At this point you were shouting at him your own voice ringing in your ears as he dead panned at you completely indifferent to your outburst.
"I don't have to do anything. You spoilt cunt" was all he said as he turned back heading to his office.
You couldn't fucking believe this . He just witnessed you have a mental breakdown and he was just going to leave like that.
You grabbed the nearest object you could find the unfortunate victim being a flower vase as you sent it aiming it right at him.
It didn't take much effort to evade your attempt to hurt him.
You watched as the vase shatter on the floor beside him.
The sound of glass shattering bringing you back to reality. The realisation made your blood turn cold like ice running through your veins.
You couldn't believe what you had done he did nothing to deserve this you absused him when all he ever did was try to keep you safe and in return you absused him verbally and assaulted him physically.
You were truly a pathetic useless waste of space.
Rage filled him as you watched him lunge at your hands wrapping around your throat cutting off your oxygen supply. Grabbing you by the neck and slamming you into the nearest wall.
His eyes were burning holes into you. The grip on your neck grows tighter by the second your vision begins to blur.
You were mortified a slew of apologies leaving your lips. Begging him for forgiveness telling him just how sorry you were.
You didn't mean for this to happen you never meant to hurt him. You cared for him you were friends to which you felt his grip tighten a bit more.
You would do anything to earn his forgiveness anything. Words were barely coherent as you tried your best to appease him.
His stoic expression never once faltering.
"You really are sorry huh... Princess why don't you get on your knees and show me just how sorry you are maybe then I'll consider your joke of an apology"
You were to stunned to speak let alone react physically a second to long and he let go of your neck send you down your body limp onto your knees not having the strength to hold yourself upright anymore.
"Tsk that what I thought useless" was all he said as he turned to take a step back when you grabbed his pants eyes pleading maybe the pathetic sight in front of him would change his mind as you continued to apologise.
"I don't want empty words Princess"
The nickname once filled with affection now just felt demeaning and condescending.
He had caged you there was no place to go no escape from this.
With shaking hands you unbuckled his belt unzipped his pants and taking his out. The sick bastard was already hard and leaking your tears did nothing but motivate him your begging making him painfully hard.
As you took him into your mouth a groan escaped his lips as he threw his head back the warmth of your sweet mouth making him dizzy. Your fawn like wide eyed expression with a mouth full of his cock was a heavenly sight to see. So incredibly lewd he wanted to sear the memory permanently into his mind.
He grabbed your hair to steady himself the whine of discomfort that vibrated through your throat from the pain in your scalp from his rough handling made him shiver.
Grabbing the back of your head he moved you up and down his cock pulling out to thrust back in hitting the back of your throat at a bruising pace.
"Just like that princess. You are so good for me aren't you.
You look so beautiful like this .
So perfect so pretty"
The words of praise made you shift . Words of affirmation felt so new almost it was the first validation you had got ever since the months of isolation you had been isolated to.
It made you feel wanted him praising you felt addictive. It was like drain during a drought.
You craved more of it. It made you feel needed made you felt like you were worth something to someone.
He picked up on the change in your demeanour. You were so eager to please.
Trying to take him further into your throat gagging and drooling in the process.
So eager to please so desperate to be praised to which he happily obliged.
Whispering sweet honey coated Praises.
His perfect angel being so good for him taking him so well making him feel so good.
You could feel the wetness pool in your panties seeping into the fabric. From his praise.
One of your hands hiking up your dress pulling your panties to one side fingers moving to give some friction to your weeping attention starved cunt. The frustration was killing you.
As your fingers began to work he his boot clad feet swiftly kicking your hand away as you withdrew from him. Eyeing him liked a kicked puppy.
Confussion and hurt in your eyes as you clutched your aching hand.
"You think you deserve to cum after the stunt you just pulled. Cumming is a privilege princess a dirty bitch like you needs to fucking earn. If you are so desperate to cum ride my boot. Go on I know the frustration must be burning you up. If you want to cum get back on your knees and finish me off and I'll grant you the privilege of ridding my boot and getting yourself off like a bitch in heat"
It took you a second to register that he was being dead serious.
Your judgement was too clouded to to disobey.
Not wanting to agitate him further you did as he ordered.
Gingerly placing your clothed cunt on his boot while he caged you in with his other leg making sure you didn't have room to escape. Letting out a hiss as you slid him back into your mouth his hand on the back of your neck moving him up and down his length hair tight in in his fist maneuvering you to give him what he wants he can feel you move yourself grinding down on him the sight was lewd and downright perverted his mind raced a thousand miles an hour racing between all the things he could get you to do.
He could feel your movements starting to faltering uneven and desperate you were close. Go ahead princess cum on me.
He felt your throat constrict as you came making him tip over the edge sending ropes of hot cum down your throat an iron grip on the back of your head making sure you couldn't waste any of his spend.
Once he was done he tucked himself back in.
"Wanna watch a scary movie sweetheart?"

A/N: I feel like I suck at horror... and I feel like this isn't even closely enough horrific... well... have fun anyway. FUN FACT THOUGH! The title "A stitch in time..." is based on the proverb "a stitch in time saves nine" so I included some hints based on that proverd as well as the meaning of the number 9... the research was definitely a lot of fun and made my brain go brrrrrr...
Tumblr media
“Why is it we’re going in the middle of the night again?”
You opened one eye, an amused smirk playing over your features upon hearing San’s question.
The car shook gently as Yunho drove your group along a winding, uneven path towards an abandoned convent. Seonghwa guided him through the dark of the night with a map on his lap, ignoring San’s anxious demeanour completely.
Hongjoong, who sat next to Seonghwa on the double passenger seat, rolled his eyes. “You know the reason”, he grunted dismissively and made himself more comfortable in his seat again.
“I know”, San whined, leaning forward to grab Hongjoong’s shoulders, “but why?”
Wooyoung leaned over your form to pry San’s hands from their leader. “Oh, come here, my sweet little scaredy-cat.”
You opened both eyes now, watching them be all touchy and cuddly right on your lap with an unreadable expression.
Jongho made the sound of throwing up, pretending to be heavily disgusted by their display of affection.
“The real question is, why didn’t you two want to sit next to each other? Now you’re torturing Y/N instead with your antics.” Yeosang snickered from behind, thankful he wasn’t the victim caught in the middle for once.
The two men on your lap turned their heads, looking at your face. While San had an almost apologetic and pleading expression, Wooyoung just grinned up at you cheekily. “Oh, you know Y/N secretly likes that.”
You scoffed at that, pushing his head playfully away from yourself. “You wish.”
“Oh, yes! You have no idea how much I wish for you to join.”
“If they’re asking you to follow them, they want a threesome with you. Just a heads up.” Mingi commented, laughing at how Jongho immediately made the throwing up sounds again.
“Mingi!” San cried out, sitting back up and turning around to look at the man behind him. “You can’t just say that!”
“Worried you’re too scared to get it up?”
This time you rolled your eyes and slid down in your seat, wishing to be excluded from the fight. You closed your eyes again, drowning out their bickering voices and focusing on the reason you were there to begin with.
“We’re here!” Seonghwa’s voice cut through the discussion, directing a stern look at all the passengers around you. “Remember to be discreet. We do not want any authorities to bust our mission.”
“Yes, mom!” All of them called in unison before spilling out of the parked car.
You chuckled softly, seeing Seonghwa’s pained smile. He truly did behave like the mom of the group. “They’re a lot, aren’t they?” You patted his shoulder and got out of the car yourself.
Yunho had opened the tailgate of the car, revealing several backpacks and equipment for the paranormal investigation they had planned.
“So this convent was abandoned ninety years ago after a massacre where eight nuns and a priest got murdered”, Hongjoong recited the information he had gathered over the past few weeks, “the other residents were so traumatised by this event that they couldn’t stand it staying near this place.”
Yeosang laughed nervously. “Nine people died back then.” He glanced around at his team. “And we’re nine people as well.”
The second Yeosang finished his observation, San started whining loudly, pouting and refusing to go anywhere near the convent now.
Jongho smack Yeosang’s back. “Better watch out then.”
You rolled your eyes again and grabbed your backpack, hoisting it up on one shoulder. “They’re joking”, you muttered towards San as you thrusted his backpack into his flailing arms.
Wooyoung wrapped himself around the broad shoulders of San. “I’ll protect you, my sweet little scaredy-cat.” He laughed squeakily and jumped up and down, pulling San towards the building in the process.
“So much for being discreet”, Seonghwa sighed deeply. He turned on his flashlight, letting the circle of light wander over the surrounding area.
“It’s going to be alright.” Mingi patted his shoulder. “We’re far away from any town or village. Who’s going to notice we’re trespassing, huh?”
“With that blabbermouth even the capital miles away will hear us do that”, Jongho grunted, switching his flashlight on as well and heading straight for the building.
The rest followed him in various states of enthusiasm. Yunho was the last one to follow, closing the tailgate and locking the car before he tagged along.
All of you stopped at the gates to the convent, an unspoken tension weighing down on everyone.
You looked around, ignoring the roaming circles of light from the others. The surrounding woods seemed rather dense at night, the light of the flashlights barely reaching further than the second line of trees.
The old convent walls were overgrown with vines, some of them even stretching over gaping holes as the stone had caved in over time. Random things laid on the ground, grass half growing over them. Statues of angels had fallen over, their stone pieces scattered all over the place.
“Inviting”, you mumbled under your breath, pushing past the hesitating men and entering the convent grounds.
The path used to be there was barely visible - even less during the dark of the night. You stepped over some broken statue pieces, making a grimace at the crunching sound underneath your feet. You heard the others following you, their lights wandering around the area in curiosity.
“I think we should find the room where it all happened and set up some of our equipment there”, Yunho suggested, passing you with his long legs. Mingi followed close behind, already holding the EMF metre in his large hand.
When you glanced behind you, you noticed how the others also held their specialised equipment in their hands: a night vision camera, thermometers, an old radio to catch static sounds or even voices as well as a thermographic camera.
All that in hopes of witnessing the presence of one ghost.
Before you even entered the building the first small groups had built and split up. Wooyoung, San and Yeosang stayed outside, checking the grounds for any activity. Jongho quickly ventured into the left wing of the building on his own, while Seonghwa and Hongjoong went further into the back.
You hurriedly caught up with Mingi and Yunho, both of them walking up the stairs to the next level.
The steps cracked underneath your weight, making you wince from the seemingly loud sound. The stench of mould and wet furniture invaded your nose.
“Can you imagine all of this once bustled with life?”
“How lively can it be with a bunch of nuns living here?” You retorted to Yunho’s question, barely able to hide the grin on your face.
He snorted and slowed down his pace, staying next to you and bumping your shoulder playfully. “Don’t you have to be a little more respectful on these grounds? Aren’t they holy or something?”
“Even after all this time?” Mingi joined you on your other side, looking at you two with wide eyes.
“Definitely not!” You shook your head and rolled your eyes. “Maybe the church on the east side was a holy ground but definitely not anymore.”
“Why not?”
Yunho grinned at you, heavily amused by the fact Mingi now started asking you all kinds of questions.
“To make something holy you have to cleanse it. It’s basically like showering. If you don’t shower after a while you start to stink. So do grounds that don’t get cleansed regularly. They don’t stay holy.”
Mingi made a sound of understanding, nodding his head ever so slowly while his eyes roamed around the long hallway.
You glanced at Yunho, who simply winked at you. He didn’t say anything else, instead turning around a corner and leaving you alone with Mingi.
For a while you two only walked side by side further along the corridor. Your steps and the constant peeping of the EMF the only sound bouncing from the walls.
A cold shiver ran through your whole body. You stopped in your movements. You furrowed your brows.
Mingi stopped a few steps further down the hallway. “What’s wrong?”
“Didn’t you feel that?” You looked up at him, confusion written all over your face. “What about the EMF? Quick! Come back here! Does it pick something up?” You ushered Mingi back to your spot, grabbing his wrist and pulling the EMF right in front of your chest.
“Nothing.”
You moved Mingi’s arm around the area, hoping to catch some sort of activity. “What?” You growled in annoyance. Did you just imagine the cold? Is your mind playing tricks on you? What just happened?
“What’s wrong?” Mingi repeated his question, growing nervous from your frantic movements. “What was I supposed to feel?”
Your heart rate increased rapidly. Your breathing turned shallow. Your eyes darted around aimlessly and unfocused. “Something’s wrong.”
“What’s wrong?”
You blinked several times, softly shaking your head. You looked back up at Mingi. Fear evident in both of your gazes. “I don’t know.”
Before your mind caught up to your body, you already hurried back down the corridor. Something pulled you back downstairs. While you had no idea what it was, you just knew you had to be there as fast as possible.
The light of your flashlight flickered as you turned around a corner, momentarily leaving you in the dark. You rushed deeper into the building, barely avoiding broken doors and walls.
When you turned around yet another corner, you suddenly slipped and fell to the ground.
“Fuck.” You hissed as you pushed yourself up again. The flashlight had rolled several feets away from you, going on and off repeatedly. You raised one hand to your forehead, groaning from the dull throbbing.
You stopped in your movements. The scent of something metallic forcing its way into your nose. At the same time the feeling of something warm and sticky on your hands made itself known. As you sat there in the dark another cold shiver ran down your back. You raised your trembling hands in front of your body, eyes trained on them. Only after the flashlight turned on once again, did you see it.
Something red coloured your hands. It dripped down to the puddle on the ground, somewhat connecting your hands to it.
Your ears started ringing. A cold sweat spread all over your skin. Your eyes unfocused.
“Y/N!” You felt several hands pulling at your shoulders and arms. They shook you anxiously until you finally snapped out of your stupor.
“What happened?”
“Y/N?”
“Are you alright?”
“We heard you scream!”
You turned your head almost mechanically to look at them. Your eyes wandered over the seven faces staring at you. “Where’s Hongjoong?”
The men turned their heads, looking at each other and around, before shrugging with their shoulders.
“Wasn’t he with you, Seonghwa?”
“Only in the beginning!”
You looked back at your hands, trying desperately to stop the tremble inside of them.
Wooyoung grabbed your shoulder, pulling your focus back to them. “What happened, Y/N? We heard you scre-”. His voice got stuck in his throat when he finally noticed your hands. “What the fuck?”
The others turned their gazes to your hands as well. They gasped or cursed in shock.
“Is that blood?”
“Did you get hurt?”
“Why did you ask for Hongjoong?”
Yunho walked around the room, moving his circle of light all over the place. “Hongjoong?” His voice boomed through the room, even echoing from the hallway outside. “Hongjoong? Where are you?”
No answer.
“Y/N? Please”, Seonghwa begged quietly, crouching down next to you. “Tell us what happened?”
“Let’s get Y/N out of this room first”, Jongho interjected. He forcefully helped you up, keeping his hand on your upper arm and pulling you outside.
Once outside Jongho sat you down on one of the many fallen statues. He stepped back again, leaving you some space.
The others gathered around you, nervous glances being exchanged and wandering around. Hongjoong still hasn’t appeared.
Seonghwa was the first to move again, walking up to you and kneeling in front of your form. He pulled some tissues out of his pockets, as well as a bottle of water. Without a word he reached for your hands and quietly started cleaning them.
“Do you think Hongjoong got lost somewhere?” Yeosang whispered, glancing at the others with uncertainty.
“No.”
All heads snapped to you, surprised to hear your hoarse voice. “You seem to know something we don’t.”
You nodded ever so slowly. “There’s a reason I joined your mission.” You pulled a badge out of your pocket and held it up for them to see it. “I’m a detective and I’m working on a case of a serial killer. I followed some new leads, which brought me to you.”
“What do you mean by that?” Yunho interrupted you with furrowed brows. His expression appeared cold and distant, as if he tried to control his own anger.
“Hongjoong was murdered.”
They gasped in shock, eyes widening almost comically. Some of them protested weakly, not wanting to believe one of their friends is dead. “He could just be hurt somewhere!”
“There was too much blood on the floor.” You shook your head and bit down on your lower lip. “He’s definitely dead already.”
“Shouldn’t we get out of here then? If there’s a serial killer roaming around that building somewhere?” Wooyoung questioned.
“We can’t just leave Hongjoong here!”
“HE’S DEAD ALREADY! Are you willing to risk your own life for a corpse?”
“HE’S OUR FRIEND!”
You watched them yell at each other. Silently, you noted down within your mind every little detail you caught on. After all, your intel showed you it must be one of them. “We won’t be able to leave.”
“What?” Their arguing stopped instantly as they turned back to you. As you didn’t say anything else, a nervous tension filled the air.
“You think it’s one of us”, Jongho stated bluntly, followed by more gasps of shock.
You saw how they turned to look at you, hoping Jongho only made a cruel joke. Though seeing your serious expression their hope vanished. “What are we supposed to do now?”
“I need to go back to the crime scene. I hope to find some sort of clue who might have done it.” You pushed yourself up, quietly thanking Seonghwa for his help cleaning you up.
“What about us?”
“You can’t go alone!”
San jumped forward and wrapped his arms around one of yours, clinging himself to your side. “I don’t wanna die here”, he whispered into your ear, looking at you pleadingly.
Seonghwa stepped next to you as well. “If it’s one of us, I agree that you can’t go alone.”
“We can’t all go”, you sighed in exasperation. “I fear we already destroyed important evidence the first time we were there.” You massaged your temples, feeling like your head was about to explode. “I also need to find his body.”
“Then let's make two groups”, Mingi suggested, “one will search for Hongjoong and the other will check the room again.”
You nodded. “Let’s do that.”
After some discussion Yeosang joined the two men, who already made it to your side, and the other four men formed the second group.
You hoped this way everyone stayed somewhat safe for now - or at least until you discovered some sort of clue to save the innocent.
“I, uh, I’ll stay outside of the room”, San whispered as he stopped in front of the broken door, staring with unfocused eyes into the dark void. He didn’t react to Seonghwa’s sweet words, asking him to come inside, nor did he react to Yeosang’s soft pulling.
“Stay in the doorway and look outside. That way you’re not out of sight.” You barely waited for his short nod before you walked into the room. You had grabbed San’s flashlight, since your own lied broken on the ground.
You immediately started your search, checking every corner of the room. You somewhat ignored the others, too focused on your own mission. There had to be something. You had to find something, anything.
San stayed at the doorway like you told him, but your constant muttering as well as the stench of blood and mold drained the colour from his face. “I don’t think I can…” He didn’t finish his words, doubling over and vomiting on the ground.
“He needs to get out of here!” You ordered and pointed aimlessly at Yeosang and Seonghwa, hoping either of them would help him out.
Yeosang immediately jumped to his friend, waiting until he only gasped for air to pull him outside.
Seonghwa on the other hand already pulled out several more tissues and handed them to San. He crouched down as well, wiping along the doorframe for a second, before he followed Yeosang and San outside.
You stayed behind, pondering over the events that happened here. You definitely wanted to talk to Seonghwa, questioning him about his actions. As far as you knew he was also the last one to be with Hongjoong, making him the main suspect in this case.
Too absorbed in your own thoughts you didn’t notice someone approaching you.
Out of the corner of your eye and at the edge of your light you saw something bloodied. Again.
A scream got stuck in your throat.
You turned around. Ready to defend yourself.
When Mingi raised his hands in an innocent manner. “Hey, there.”
You cursed under your breath, laughing awkwardly when the initial shock subsided. “My heart nearly stopped, Mingi! You can’t scare me like that!” You walked over to him, pulling him into a hug from the relief you felt.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to.” He wrapped himself around you. “I just lost the others and knew you should be here.”
You furrowed your brows in surprise and confusion. “How did you lose the others? You should have stayed together.”
“You’re on your own as well!”
You rolled your eyes with a soft chuckle. “San wasn’t able to stay near the crime scene so the others brought him outside.” You turned your head and looked over the room again. “Maybe we should follow them”, you mumbled and pursed your lips. You had to question Seonghwa, there was no way around it.
Mingi guided you outside again, where you found a retching San and Yeosang helplessly standing next to him.
“Where’s Seonghwa?”
Yeosang pointed towards the building and you followed his finger with your gaze.
With a sigh you rolled your shoulders, ready to confront him, when Yunho, Jongho and Wooyoung came running from the direction you wanted to go.
Wooyoung stopped in his tracks, the colour from his features draining as he stared at you with wide eyes.
The other two kept rushing towards you, a crazed look in their eyes. “Weren’t you all supposed to stay with Seonghwa?” Yunho pointed accusingly at you and then at Yeosang and San.
“He went back in! How was I supposed to stay with Seonghwa with a retching San right over here?” Yeosang protested loudly, his hand vaguely waving over the bend over San.
“Mingi was with me”, you answered, furrowing your brows in suspicion. “Why are you even asking?”
“Because we just found his body”, Jongho interjected.
Your expression dropped, hands falling to your sides. “No”, you whispered, exhaling shakily. “This can’t be.” You ran past them, ignoring their calls and hurrying inside. You stopped at every little room, peeking inside in hopes to find Seonghwa.
“Hwa!” Your voice carried a sense of desperation as your search continued without any sign of him. “Seonghwa! Answer me!”
“He can’t.”
You whirled around at Yeosang’s voice. Your eyes jumped between his own, trying to understand what was going on. “This can’t be true.”
“What are you doing here?” Yunho interrupted you two, staring at you with a pointed look. “Why are you over there? We found him in that room.” He pointed at a room that you had passed already.
You scoffed and crossed your arms in front of your chest. “I already checked that room. Seonghwa wasn’t in there.”
“What are you talking about?” You heard the hint of annoyance in his voice before he stormed off into that room.
Without hesitation you rushed over to him, following him into the room as well. You ignored Yeosang who still stood there, silently watching you. “See, I told you-”
“Where did you take him?” Yunho’s voice boomed through the room. His anger finally took over and he turned around, glaring at you menacingly.
You startled from his sudden outburst, stumbling backwards and blinking several times.
Mingi showed up behind you, followed by the others. All of them got drawn into the room by his loud voice, worried gazes switching between him and you.
“I’m asking you again. WHERE DID YOU TAKE HIM?”
You stuttered something incomprehensible, unable to form a coherent sentence or argument. You didn’t even know what to say to calm him down either.
“How would they be able to drag a whole body around without any of us noticing? Y/N wasn’t even alone at all.” Mingi placed his hands on your shoulder, backing you up not just with his words but with his gesture as well.
“Then who did it?” Yunho stalked through the room, grabbing drawers, tables and chairs and throwing them around as if he’d find Seonghwa somewhere behind them.
You watched him silently, thoughts already racing inside your head. You had suspected Seonghwa to be the murderer but apparently you had been way off with him now gone too. Your eyes wandered to the other guys, wondering who the culprit might be instead.
Something wasn’t adding up.
You just couldn’t figure out what.
“I’m out of here”, San muttered, still pale and weak on his legs. He didn’t wait for any response, wobbling out of the room already.
“He shouldn’t go alone.”
You watched how Yeosang followed him until he was out of your sight. In the meantime Jongho tried calming Yunho down again, promising to find both missing members with him. They left the room as well, leaving Mingi at your side and Wooyoung close to the entrance, staring at you blankly.
“What are we going to do now?”
You silently shook your head, unsure what was the best course of action. You turned your head to look at Mingi. As of now he seemed to be the only one who couldn’t have done either of the murders.
“I think we shouldn’t be splitting up again”, he mumbled and gently pushed you towards the entrance.
Wooyoung stayed where he was, his head turning almost mechanically as you passed.
“Aren’t you coming?” You called over your shoulder. A cold shiver ran down your spine again. Something definitely was off here.
Even with Mingi’s suggestion of staying together, it appeared harder than all of you anticipated. Somehow there seemed to be always a kind of situation that pulled your group apart.
And one by one your group got smaller and smaller.
After Hongjoong and Seonghwa, Yeosang was the next to vanish.
Except for another large puddle of blood his body was nowhere to be found.
Then Jongho disappeared.
He heard a noise and followed it. Never came back.
San currently sat down, pressed against a wall. He slightly rocked his upper body back and forth, mumbling quietly and erratically to himself.
You tried calming him down, crouching down in front of his form. Though your words didn’t reach him at all.
A movement at the corner of your eye caught your attention, letting you glance towards it for a second. Only when your gaze moved back to San, did your brain register what you saw.
Mingi.
At least a version of Mingi.
Pitch black eyes. Hollow cheeks and blood streaks running down from his eye sockets. Chapped lips and an even paler complexion than San who felt sick.
The air got stuck in your throat, fear gripping at your very core. Your eyes shakily moved back, followed by your whole head.
You exhaled in disbelief, pitifully laughing at yourself and your mad imagination. “It’s you”, you chuckled and shook your head, “again.”
Except for some dishevelled clothing and hair Mingi looked just the same.
You stood up and brushed over your clothes, sending one last pitiful glance at San. “I think I’ll go look for Yunho. He’s been raging around like crazy with everything that’s going on.”
As you started to walk away, Mingi silently followed you, continuously staying one step behind you. He only left your side when you asked him to check a room here and there.
To your surprise though Yunho was nowhere to be found. At the same time you noticed something else.
It felt eerily quiet.
“Let’s head back to San”, you called out and started running towards the outside.
Your breathing came out ragged when you finally reached the spot where you had left him.
Only to find an empty spot.
You cursed under your breath, running your fingers through your hair. “This can’t be happening.” You paced around and started chewing on your nail.
By now you had searched every room of the convent and even the outside grounds without having found any trace of the others.
Except for puddles of blood.
You stopped your pacing, your head turning towards the church at the east side of the grounds.
The only place you hadn’t checked yet.
Your first steps were hesitant, more like a stumble before you broke out into another sprint.
When you reached the double doors to the church, two voices called out your name. You turned around with wide eyes, seeing both Wooyoung and Mingi running towards you.
“You shouldn’t go in there alone”, Mingi panted once he reached you.
“You shouldn’t be here in the first place”, Wooyoung hissed.
You blinked several times, trying to comprehend what was happening. With furrowed brows and your eyes switching between them two you still reached for the door, intent on opening it.
It’s then that you noticed Wooyoung wasn’t even looking at you. His glare was directed towards Mingi.
“What’s going-”
“How many times do I have to kill you?”
Your jaw dropped open and your eyes widened when you heard Wooyoung’s question.
“WHY! Why can’t you stay dead?”
You stepped back, your weight pushing the door to the church open. You stumbled backwards, barely catching yourself.
Mingi called out to you but got rooted in his place when you reached for your weapon and raised it towards them. You moved it between the two men, desperately trying to make sense of this whole situation.
“What do you mean by killing him over and over again?” Your voice was barely above a whisper as your eyes flicked towards Wooyoung and then back to Mingi.
“So”, you inhaled deeply, “you killed all the others?”
“No!” Wooyoung raised both his hands, a desperate attempt to show his innocence. “I swear it wasn’t me!”
Your attention turned to Mingi who stared ahead of you with a face void of any emotion. When you glanced back at Wooyoung, you noticed how his eyes widened in shock as they focused on something behind you.
Ever so slowly you turned around. You swallowed harshly.
The inside of the church was kept in pristine condition. The walls stayed a blinding white, same with the floor. The seats were aligned in perfect rows from the front to the back and the gold applications on the altar appeared as new as ever.
There wasn’t any sign of broken furniture nor spots of mould. The only thing inside the whole room that shouldn’t have been there were six bodies placed in a circle right in front of the altar.
You clapped your hand in front of your mouth, the scream stuck in your throat.
More blood pooled around the bodies, connecting them to one another. Their pale skin nearly glowed against the dark red of the blood. Their hands were folded in a praying manner across their chests while their dead eyes stared at the ceiling.
You turned back around to the two remaining guys. “What kind of psycho are you to do this to your friends?” You yelled and pointed your gun back at Wooyoung. “And you tried killing Mingi too?”
“It wasn’t me!” Wooyoung cried out. “Well, at least not this.”
“How am I supposed to believe you?” You glanced towards Mingi, who stayed oddly impassive to the whole situation. You mused he was in shock.
Wooyoung stepped towards you and you quickly focused back on him. “I can’t let this slide.” His eyes widened and his expression morphed from shock to sheer panic.
The gun shot rang loudly through the air, followed by the dull drop from Wooyoung’s body hitting the floor.
You exhaled shakily. Your eyes were unfocused.
You only got it together when Mingi started moving again.
Mingi calmly walked over to Wooyoung’s body and picked it up, carrying it over to the circle of the others.
“What are you doing?”
“Finishing what you started.”
“What I started?” You asked incredulously. You scoffed, disbelief radiating from every cell inside your body.
“The human mind is such a flimsy thing.” Mingi laughed out, the sound empty and foreign. “Can’t even remember what you did, you poor little thing.” He placed Wooyoung down on the ground, filling one of the empty spots in the circle.
Goosebumps erupted all over your skin as one cold shiver after the other ran along your spine.
This wasn’t right. Nothing of this was right.
You raised your gun back up, pointing it at Mingi this time. Dread filled your chest at the thought of having shot someone innocent. Though he said he tried to kill Mingi - more than once. So technically Wooyoung wasn’t that innocent. At least that’s what you tried telling yourself to justify the seemingly grave mistake you made.
“Explain yourself!”
“You suspected Hongjoong at first-”
You barked out a laugh. “What are you even talking about? He died first! How should he have been a suspect?”
Mingi’s head turned towards you, a boyish grin plastered on his lips. “Remember the reason you joined this expedition? ‘Cause you thought there was a serial killer hiding among us. And you suspected Hongjoong to be it.”
You bit on your lower lip, silently waiting for him to continue speaking.
“Now with Hongjoong’s death you needed a new suspect and who else to pick but his partner for everything.” Mingi stood back up, walking around the circle of bodies only for him to stop at Seonghwa’s head. “So you confronted him and killed him, thinking all your made up clues inside your head were pointing at him. But then his body disappeared and fear gripped your heart again.”
Memories flashed inside of your mind, showing you scenes of a fight and Seonghwa’s face twisted in pain.
“Same with all the others. Yeosang, Jongho, Yunho, San.” Mingi stopped at each one of them as he spoke before he slowly walked towards you. “For each one of them you crafted yourself some sort of reason why they were the culprits and you killing them was supposed to save the others. And nobody ever suspected you. After all, slipping on Hongjoong’s blood was a great move: being covered in it nobody suspected any blood stain on you.”
Your hands started trembling as more memories of your gruesome actions filled your mind.
Mingi placed his hand on yours, slowly pushing them down until the gun pointed at the ground. He walked around you while his hands ran up your arms.
You shivered when his breath caressed the shell of your ear. “There never was a serial killer in this group”, he whispered in a low tone, “not until you turned into one yourself, my little mass murderer.”
You shook your head in denial, tears spilling out and running over your cheeks. This couldn’t be true. You couldn’t have possibly done all of this. “I don’t believe you.”
Mingi chuckled into your ear, his hands gently squeezing your shoulders. “Maybe you should believe your own memories. Aren’t they coming back to you? Right, you simply don’t want to trust yourself. How could it be possible for a good person to turn bad all in the name of justice.”
You shook your head again, barely noticing how Mingi guided you closer towards the circle of bodies.
There were still two empty spots and a part of your brain knew what that meant. “You’re going to end this here, aren’t you?”
Mingi laughed again. “On the contrary. You’ll be the one to end it all.”
You looked up at him through teary eyes, brows furrowing in confusion. “I won't kill you now that I know what happened!”
Mingi stepped away from you, walking over to one of the empty spots. “There's no need for that. This body has been dead for a while now.” He waved his hand in front of his form as if he was pulling a curtain aside, revealing the horrific state of his body that you had thought you imagined earlier on.
You slowly shook your head from side to side in disbelief. This couldn’t be happening. You simply couldn’t believe this to be true.
You watched him sit down on the ground, crossing his long legs over one another and leaning back on his palms. He even tilted his head and grinned devilishly at you. “It’s missing only one more thing.” Mingi jerked his chin towards the second empty space of the circle.
A gasp tore its way through your throat at the indication. Yet, all you could do was shake your head mechanically. “You can’t mean that.”
“Oh, obviously I do. We both know you won’t be able to live with the guilt of having murdered eight men - eight friends.”
You desperately wished for this to be a lie, hoped to wake up from a nightmarish fever dream. Tears welled up in your eyes and your throat closed up.
Your mind played one murder after the other inside your head, letting you relive each and everyone of it.
Mingi layed down on the floor, laughing to himself while your inner turmoil tore you apart.
As if your body had a mind of its own, your feet carried you to the last empty spot. Your eyes wandered over the others, staring at them through a blurry vision.
“I can’t”, you whispered, followed by a soft hiccup. You dropped to your knees as sobs tore through your throat.
The dim light from the candles flickered around, casting shadows all over the circle. Soon the sun would rise again. Though none of the bodies inside the church would do the same.
Ever again.

"Excuse me?!" You bellowed, gaping at the armour-clad Demons standing in your doorway with open shock & anger.
The female who seemed to be the Captain of the group scowled at you, unhappy at having to repeat herself. "You are being summoned to the Demon's capitol city Hraezyrkas, as the Demon King wishes to discern if you are a suitable match to be his Queen."
"Why is he looking among the Vampires? Surely a Demon would make a better Queen." It was a valid question, as Vampires and Demons were not on the friendliest of terms.
"I would not presume to know. That is a question you would do better to ask the King himself." The soldier replied, her lips twisting into a disgusted sneer.
"Must I come right now, or do I have time to put on more suitable clothing?"
"So long as you are there before sunset, you may take time to prepare yourself."
Letting out a tense breath, you relented, seeing no other path than to do as you were asked. Opening your door fully, you allowed the demons inside. "You can wait here while I get ready."
Once in the privacy of your room, you took a moment to let things fully sink in. You'd heard many things about the Demon King, from visceral accounts of his prowess in battle to his uproarious temper when things didn't go as planned.
Something deep inside said there was a reason he had called for you instead of choosing a Demon, and so you decided to go all out and dress to kill - not literally of course. If seduction was the name of the game, then you were one of the best at said game.
Searching through your wardrobe, you settled on a sleeveless dress with a black lace bodice and a flowing blood red skirt. For jewelry you choose a wide black lace choker with gold accents, matching chunky gold earrings, a few thin gold bracelets, and a headpiece of blood red roses with golden leaves. You ran a brush through your long dark brown curls before setting the headpiece in place, then slipped on some black heels and stood before your full-length mirror to assess your appearance.
"Damn." You muttered, suppressing a smile. "I look good."
Turning toward the door, you took one last calming breath, then made your way back downstairs.
Upon seeing you, the Demon soldiers stood without a word and ordered themselves around you: two behind, two in front, and the Captain a few paces ahead. Outside of the town a carriage was waiting, presumably for you. Two soldiers climbed into the driving seat, the other two stood on the back and the Captain seated herself opposite you inside the carriage. With a jerk, the wheels beneath you began to roll.
Tumblr media
The ride to Hraezyrkas was not as long as you were expecting, only three-and-a-half hours. You hadn't realized before how close you were to the border. The carriage stopped and the Captain disembarked to help you step out. Looking up, you felt your jaw drop at the magnificent sight before you.
The castle was huge, made entirely of smooth obsidian dripping with molten lava and dotted all over with obsidian gargoyles. The brightness of the lava reflected off the seamless black, making the entire building seem to glow in such a way that it rivalled the sun.
You didn't get to see much of the inside, as you were hurried through room after room until you came upon the throne room. The doors were solid slabs of obsidian inlaid with a shimmering mix of rubies, fire opals, and deep orange citrines. They swung open soundlessly despite how heavy they looked, and you found yourself at the start of a long hallway lined with a plush red carpet. At the far end was a tall throne made of black garnet shot through with glowing veins of lava, and seated in it was the Demon King.
Even from so far away you could feel the aura of power emanating from him, and a tiny seed of nervousness planted itself in your mind. Could you really handle what came next if he chose you? You were banking on your confidence putting him off, but what if it didn’t? Guess I’m about to find out.
Taking a brief moment to gather yourself, you strode down the carpet toward the throne. As you got closer, his features came into sharp focus and you felt your heart do a funny little jump in your chest. He was hot, almost unnervingly so. Glowing golden eyes assessed your approach from beneath dark red hair, bangs casually swept to one side. His tanned skin glowed a rich gold in the light of the lava surrounding him. Ebony horns curled upward gracefully, several smaller branch-offs draped with gold chains and many dangling charms of fiery crystals that made them look fancy and intricate. And yet beneath all that, there was something almost…familiar about him, as if you knew him from somewhere else even though that was pretty much impossible.
When you were close enough to speak without raising your voice, the Captain stopped you. “Your Majesty, Hwang Y/N is here as you requested. Miss Hwang, I introduce to you Choi Jongho, King of the Demons.”
You bit your lip, struggling to hide your surprise. Surely this wasn’t the same Choi Jongho you were friends with from childhood to mid-teens, back when Vampires and Demons could co-exist peacefully. This regal man before you was so far removed from the sweet, adorable Demon boy you remembered; there was no way they were the same. But the familiarity that had caught your attention before kept nagging at you, saying that maybe this was the Jongho you used to be friends with.
Remembering suddenly where you were, you bowed low. “Well met, Your Majesty.” You greeted, crimson eyes scanning his features critically.
“Well met, Miss Hwang.” He replied, returning the greeting without any hint that he recognized you. Either he was extremely good at hiding his emotions, or your mind was just playing tricks on you this whole time.
“You and your soldiers are dismissed, Captain.” The Captain nodded and saluted, the other soldiers repeating her actions before following her out.
Once the two of you were alone, you watched as his stiff posture relaxed and the coldness in his eyes thawed. A wide smile bloomed on his face, and you could no longer say that you didn’t know him. Still a bit tentative, you spoke quietly.
“Jongho? Is it really you?”
The smile widened and he nodded vigorously.
“H-How did you even find me?”
Jongho chuckled and stood from his throne, stepping slowly closer as he spoke. “When the tension between Vampires and Demons began to grow, my family came back here, but my parents kept in touch with yours over the years. Then they were killed during the First War and I became King. When the War ended I tried to restore contact with your family, but was told you’d lost your parents as well and had moved elsewhere.”
By now he was in front of you, and he gently took your hands in his. “I was so sorry to hear about your parents. I remembered them fondly and wished I could grieve with you.”
You blinked rapidly, fighting the liquid that suddenly swam in your eyes. “Thank you.” You almost whispered. “I was sorry to hear about yours as well.”
“I never stopped thinking about you.” Jongho said seriously, golden eyes holding yours captive. For the first time you noticed the pentagram pattern they held, and you thought it suited him. “I discreetly inquired into all the nearby villages, until finally I found the village where you live now.”
Happy as you were to reunite with a friend you thought you’d never see again, something pulled at the back of your mind and you spoke up. “The Captain said you summoned me to see if I would be a suitable Queen. Is that true?”
Jongho’s ears reddened, something you remembered happening whenever he was embarrassed. “Yeah, it is.” He admitted after a moment.
“Why?” You pressed, curiosity getting the better of you.
Jongho scratched at the back of his neck. “After we became teenagers, somewhere along the way I started to fall for you. But I was always afraid to tell you because I thought that me being the heir to the Demon throne would make you feel pressured to date me even if you didn’t want to. I thought that if you did feel the same, you should have the freedom to tell me if and when you wanted to, not because you had to for the sake of decorum.
“Then things got tense and we had to move back to the castle. I regretted not telling you every single day, but I couldn’t look for you because of the War. And now….” He trailed off, seemingly unsure of how to continue.
Offering him a soft smile, you placed your hands on his shoulders. “I fell for you around the same time, it seems.” Jongho’s head shot up, eyes sparkling with hope, but he waited for you to finish speaking. “I was afraid too; afraid that despite our friendship your parents wouldn’t let a lowly Vampire like me date you. After you left I accepted that I would probably never see you again and locked my feelings away in a little corner of my heart. But now that we’re here, it’s all flooding back.” You tilted your head up, looking deep into his eyes. “If you’ll have me, I’d love to be your Queen.”
In a sudden flurry of motion Jongho threw his arms around you, pulling you into his warm body. “Oh, how I’ve longed to hear you say that.” He murmured, lips brushing your ear. “I almost can’t believe this is really happening.”
Pulling your head back a little, you gazed at him, a mischievous glint coming into your eyes. “If you don’t kiss me right now, I swear to the gods I’ll bite you.”
“Oooh, kinky.” He smirked, teasing, then captured your lips in a burning kiss before you could retaliate.
Kissing Jongho was better than you could have ever imagined. The sensation of his heated body against your icy skin was divine, and the growl he let out when your fangs grazed his lower lip had your knees buckling.
The sound of someone clearing their throat brought the two of you back to reality. You jumped, startled, and looked up to see the Captain from earlier standing in the doorway, face carefully blank.
"The city leaders await you in the meeting hall, Your Majesty."
Jongho cursed under his breath. "I forgot about that." He muttered regretfully. Straightening, he cleared his own throat, and in a flash the Demon King stood before you once more. "Captain, tell the leaders I'll be right with them, then take Miss Hwang to my private rooms."
"Right away, Your Majesty." The Captain bowed and left, returning a moment later to fetch you.
"It seems we'll be seeing a lot more of each other in the future." She remarked as you walked along. "So we might as well get to know each other a little. My name is Yurin."
You shook her proffered hand. "And I'm Y/N, but you knew that already."
Yurin laughed. "True."
An amiable silence fell as Yurin led you through the castle's winding hallways and corridors. Presently, she stopped you at a set of doors almost identical to the ones outside the throne room.
"Here we are, His Majesty's private rooms. Make yourself comfortable and he should be here as soon as the meeting concludes. If you need anything before then, ring the bell just inside the doors and a servant will attend you."
Once Yurin had left and the doors had closed, you made a beeline for the bedroom and the large four-poster bed within it, a sudden exhaustion creeping over you as you sank into the soft red duvet. You were asleep before you even realized just how tired you really were.
Tumblr media
You had vague memories of a warm body pulling you under the blankets and holding you close, but didn't truly wake up until you heard the crash.
It was loud, jerking you from your slumber immediately. You felt Jongho jolt awake beside you and turned toward him.
"The hell was that?" You inquired. He shook his head, just as clueless as you.
"Stay here, I'll go see what's up."
You nodded mutely, more than happy to do as he asked. "Be careful." You whispered.
He smiled sweetly. "I always am."
As you waited for Jongho to return, you soon became aware of near-silent footsteps making their way towards you. The shadows were deep, hiding whoever it was from even your enhanced sight. Out of nowhere a dark figure rushed at you, moonlight gleaming off the sword they carried.
A shocked squeal was all you could utter before a hand was clamped over your mouth and you felt the tip of the sword poking your ribs. Your skin burned where the metal touched it, and your heart sank as you realized the sword was made of charmed silver, one of the few things that could actually kill a Vampire.
Before your captor could move to take you anywhere, Jongho burst through the doors, looking so terrifying in his anger that even you flinched slightly. His eyes glowed so brightly they illuminated the room, his face twisted in a ferocious snarl that bared fangs twice as long as your own. His clothes were spattered with black Demon blood, and it soaked his clawed hands, dripping onto the wooden floor with a steady plop, plop, plop.
"Captain Yurin, I'd thank you to unhand my Queen." He spat.
Your eyes widened in absolute shock. Yurin was the one holding you? How had you not recognized her scent? What the hell was going on?
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Your Majesty. Vampires were never meant to rule, and I imagine your parents would've been furious if you tried to pull something like this while they were still alive."
At this Jongho chuckled, and you felt a smirk rise on your own lips. "Then you didn't know my parents at all. Y/N's parents were their closest friends before the War, when we lived down in the village. In fact, Y/N is the childhood friend you heard me talk about so much after we had to move back here."
Clearly Yurin had not been expecting this, as you felt her grip on you loosen a bit in the wake of her surprise. Seeing the opening you'd been hoping for, you dug your long nails into the arm around your waist. At the same time you sank your fangs into the hand that covered your mouth, relishing the pained cry that left Yurin as you drank from her.
The distraction was enough to allow Jongho to cross the room and pull you from Yurin's hold. There was a tearing sound, followed by a loud pop! as the force of his movement dragged your fangs along Yurin's hand, her middle finger detaching to remain in your mouth. You tucked the digit into your pocket as a snack for later.
She let out a shriek as she fell to the ground. You quickly assured Jongho that you were unharmed and he smiled softly before turning to pounce upon the fallen Yurin.
"Y-You can't just k-kill me, th-there are laws!" She choked as Jongho's hands curled around the dusky gray skin of her neck.
Jongho scoffed. "You forget that I made many of those laws. Treason is punishable by death, and the punishment may be given without trial if the act is committed before or against the King and his Queen. You are a disgrace to your lineage, Yurin, a black stain on the reputation of your family. Die like the scum that you are."
A clawed hand plunged into Yurin's chest, ripping her heart from its cavity and crushing it into a pool of gore before her dimming eyes.
You watched the scene unfold with rapt enjoyment, the blood and violence like music to your Vampiric soul. Once Jongho had stepped away from the dead Captain, you moved toward him.
"Gods, that was hot." You stated, desire beginning to coat your veins as you took in his blood-covered figure.
A deep growl was all the warning you got before Jongho rushed forward, scooping you up in his arms and all but throwing you onto the rumpled bedsheets. A thrill raced across your body as his warmth came to rest on top of you, golden eyes now blazing with lust as his hands caressed your face, leaving behind streaks of black blood that decorated your skin like warpaint. The scent of Yurin's lifeblood was intoxicating as you surged upward, capturing Jongho's lips in a deeply passionate kiss.
A whine left your throat as you felt his hardness pressing against your thigh. Jongho broke the kiss, a wide smirk on his face. "You want this baby?" He asked, pressing harder on your thigh.
"Yes, please, need it so bad!" You panted, gripping his arms tightly.
"You asked so nicely, how can I deny my sweet Vampire." The gold of his gaze darkened slightly and his voice became firm. "Strip for me."
Chills erupted all over you upon hearing the command. You could feel your mind growing fuzzy, slipping into subspace as you replied to him. "Yes, Master.”
You removed your dress and underclothes as quickly as you could while still making a show of it, and when you finished Jongho rewarded you with a searing kiss that set every nerve ending alight with glorious fire.
"What's your safe word, my moon?" He asked, teeth grazing the shell of your ear as his hands began to roam your naked form.
"I-It's sunlight." You moaned, back arching as his fingers flicked over your nipples.
"Good girl." He murmured, one hand moving to cup your mound as he leaned you back onto the sheets and slid a pillow beneath your hips.
“N-Need you so bad.” You almost sobbed. “Wanna t-taste you, please!”
“Oh?” Jongho’s smirk widened. “Does my little bat wish to drink from me?”
“Please Master! Wanna make you feel good too.” You begged, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“How can I say no to such a sweet request?”
Wrapping his hands around your waist he rolled onto his back, pulling you on top of him and baring the tan skin of his neck. You reached up, lightly dragging your fingertips across his veins and feeling the thrum of his pulse just below the surface. You buried your face in the crook of his shoulder, breathing in his scent until it surrounded and overwhelmed you, wrapping you in the delicious aroma of sulfur and sandalwood. For a few blessed moments, both your hearts were beating as one. Time seemed to slow to a halt and you became one with Jongho as your fangs gracefully pierced his flesh.
The two of you moaned in unison as pleasure exploded in your bodies, your venom flowing through his veins just as his blood flowed through yours. When you pulled away, Jongho caught your lips in a kiss so heated and full of passion you felt you might just burn into ashes.
“I can’t hold out much longer, my moon, I need you now.”
In a sudden hurry, Jongho wrangled you onto your back once more and hooked your legs over his shoulders. “Are you ready, little bat?”
"Yes, Master. I'm ready!" You giggled, fingers burying in his hair as he easily slid two fingers into your wet heat, drawing a languid moan from you. Your hips bucked, trying to push the digits deeper, but Jongho held you firmly in place with his other hand.
“Easy now, you’ll get what you want. Just be patient, my moon.”
“Yes, Master.” You murmured, sinking back into the sheets and letting him sweep you away into bliss as he prepped you.
All too soon, he withdrew his fingers. You held in a whine of protest, knowing that complaining would only delay the pleasure.
A few moments later you felt the press of Jongho's length against your dripping core and a shiver of anticipation rushed through you. He entered you slowly, filling you up bit by bit until you felt as though you might burst.
Your mouth hung open in a silent moan as he began to move, setting a steady pace that hit your g-spot every single time. You could already feel the coiling heat of your orgasm and knew that you would not last long.
"Please, Master, n-need you…faster. Don't w-want to cum without you!" You begged, words beginning to slur from the overwhelming mix of feelings and emotions as you sank deeper into subspace.
Your orgasm crashed over you like a tsunami, a loud cry bursting from your lungs as your eyes teared, makeup a smeared mess by this point. The world around you went white, limbs scrambling for purchase as you basked in the absolute euphoria spreading through your body.
"Just a little longer, my moon." Jongho soothed when you began to whine in discomfort from the overstimulation. A few more thrusts and he was burying himself deep inside you, your belly bulging slightly as he stuffed you full of his cum.
After catching his breath, Jongho stood and began to clean you up. He straightened the sheets and then climbed under them, pulling you up against his fiery skin. His lips met yours in a soft, sweet kiss full of love and you smiled as you kissed him back. It seemed you had finally found where you truly belonged.

holy fool masterlist | prologue | next
You aren’t sure how long you’ve been asleep, but you wake to two voices conversing in a whisper around you. One sounds like that of a male and the other of a female, you don’t open your eyes right away to not alert the two others in the room with you.
You don’t know who they are and why you are there with them. The last thing you remember is being in a car that was sinking in the ocean, there is no way that you were saved that night. But you don’t feel dead? The topic of conversation between the two other individuals catches your attention, you weren’t paying them much mind, but now you seemed to be their topic.
“This,” a male voice said, “wasn’t supposed to happen.”
“Well, it did happen.” The female said, walking towards the area that you were laying in. “They’re awake. Can’t you feel their uneasiness?”
You’re suddenly jolted up from your fetal position, now stuck in the air with the eyes of the people who were talking about you moments before. You can no longer hide in the comfort of sleep and the attention is overwhelming you. Closing your eyes is what you manage to do in a try to comfort yourself because you cannot move any other part of your body.
“Open your eyes now. Do not make me angry.” The male hissed.
“Angel Zen, you’re scaring them. Don’t show so much animosity to someone you have just met.” The younger woman takes a couple of steps backwards so she could see your face better, “I think they are pretty.” Her words fluster you instantly, not used to having someone compliment you. A sound you would describe closely to a mixture of a groan and a grunt vibrate the room, leading you both to look towards the older male angel.
“Do you understand what is going on?” The man asks while pointing at you while looking you up and down simultaneously, with a look of disgust painting his features.
“No, sir,” you reply. He clicks his tongue at you and looks elsewhere around the room. “Can you please let me down? I promise I won’t run.” He chuckles and puts his face in his hand while sighing at your question, leaving you with a puzzled look on your face.
“Angel, you cannot leave if you tried. I know this will likely worry you, but please let Angel Zen and I explain. More so me because Angel Zen can not manage his anger currently.” She says to you, although her words leave you with anxiety, you know she won’t be the one causing you harm.
“Angel. Pfft.”
You aren’t sure why he is so angry. He certainly knows more than me? Right? You don't understand why they are here. You were so sure you were dead, but did you just happen to be saved by people in a cult? Why is everyone being referred to as Angel? Your thoughts begin to consume you, but a step towards you brings you back to this reality you’re in.
“Angel, I can hear your thoughts,” your eyes open in surprise. There is no way that Angel Zen will ever like you now. “Only I can, Angel. Not him, although you are likely correct in your assumption. But what you’re saying in your mind is not the cause, he has decided that was what he wanted to feel before you woke up.” Angel Zen looks at you both, then locking eyes with the nicer Angel, obviously asking about what was going on inside your mind. “No, I’m not telling you what they were thinking. It wasn’t for you to know.” She says while looking at you, gently smiling as though to ease your nerves.
“Please tell me what is going on,” you meant for your voice to come out louder than it did, but you only managed to conjure a whisper.
“Oh right. I completely forgot to tell you, you must be questioning everything right now.” She says with a worried look on her face, almost afraid of what will happen once the truth leaves her lips, you look up at her with pleading eyes as she hesitates. She sighs out and looks at your face, but not directly into your eyes, “You’re now an Angel.”
You wake up with a presence beside you, feeling a dip at the end of your bed where your feet lay. You hesitate to open your eyes, not wanting to face the rude Angel, or whatever he was. You still find it difficult to believe that an Angel can be that mean.
“He isn’t here anymore, just me. Now open your eyes Angel,” she chuckles, standing up from where she was just seated. You open your eyes, moving into a sitting position still on your bed.
“I never got your name?” You said to the Angel in front of you. You knew the other male was Zen. Angel Zen, but the lady never told you what she wanted to be called. You aren’t sure why you have the need to have to be close with her, but you think that if she was to be cross with you right now, that you’d break down. You are just now realizing how fragile you feel at this moment.
“My name is Poppy, Angel Poppy. We are bonded. That is why you have an intense need to be close with me.” Poppy tells you like it is the most normal thing to say to someone. You both awkwardly stare at each other, not knowing what to say next.
“Pop- Angel Poppy,” you move to sit at the edge of your bed to look at her more clearly. She has tan skin, golden eyes, blonde hair, and she looks around five foot six. She also smells distinctly of lemons with sugar. You aren’t really sure how you didn’t notice it before, the smell so potent that it fills up the room easily.
“I don’t mind if you call me Poppy, but if we are in front of another Angel, I would advise you to add Angel in front of it. It is a respect thing, we only call other Angels by just our name with other Angels we trust. Moreover, every Angel has a significant smell attached to them, all good smells, though. You smell like cherry blossoms.”
“What happened to me Poppy?” You could no longer keep your curiosity at bay, and you deserve a right to know what has happened. Are you dead? Why are you surrounded by Angels? Are you in Heaven? Surely, you would've gone to Hell after death right? You were never religious?
“To answer your questions,” Poppy sits beside you before continuing, “You died, but you aren’t dead. Well, you are, you’re surrounded by Angels because you’re in Heaven, a part of it. But you weren’t sent to Heaven. Well, you were but not in the sense you would assume. And you’re right, due to your lack of belief in God, you probably should be in Hell right now.” Poppy’s response leaves you more confused than before, all of her responses seemingly contradicting each other every time she spoke.
She sits up, and straightens her skirt out with her hands. She looks at you again, you forgot that she can hear your thoughts, being reminded once you saw the worried look on her face. “Allow me to clarify, my apologies. You are an Angel now. Your Guardian Angel had you consume their blood in the process of you dying. That’s why you aren’t dead, but you died. Basically, you’re a born again Angel. You aren’t in the part of Heaven where believers go after they pass away, but where every Guardian Angel and Guardian Angel in training reside. Your Guardian Angel from your human life is the reason you are here and not in Hell.”
“I still have some questions if you don’t mind, Poppy.” You look at her, waiting for her approval for you to ask your questions. She nods, prompting you to go ahead. “I’m a Guardian Angel, how can I be if I’m not religious? How come you can hear my thoughts, but I cannot hear yours? Where is my Guardian Angel? I don’t remember consuming anything besides water before I died?”
“Well, you’re not a Guardian Angel yet. But you will go through the training. Before you can be a Guardian Angel, you must believe in God. Every pious Angel must put God above everything. You will worship him and believe, it is a non-negotiable.” Poppy firmly says. You had forgotten that she is an Angel before your friend, if you could even call it that, feeling slightly less comfortable than you were before. “I can hear your thoughts because we are bonded. You could also hear my thoughts if I was not blocking them from you, which I will teach you to do. Everyone needs their privacy, even Angels. But, only Angels who are bonded can hear each other’s thoughts. So don’t worry about your thoughts around anyone else. Just remember that I can always hear them, until you learn how to block the thoughts you want to keep to yourself from me. As for your Guardian Angel, no one knows where she is. No one has seen her, she dropped you off in Angel Zen’s office and then vanished. Even he does not know where she is.” Poppy stops for a brief moment to take a deep breath before continuing, “as for you consuming your Guardian Angel’s blood, since you were drowning, she likely cut her finger and put in your mouth. Her blood likely entered you during that moment, as the water was consuming you.”
Tears brim your eyes. All you wanted was to die, but you got the opposite. All you wanted was to hug your best friend, Dina. “Is she around? Dina?” Poppy refuses to look at you, and you just let out all your tears that you have been holding in, you aren’t sure how you’re going to do this. Whatever your new life entails, you know you are not strong enough to do it. Poppy embraces you and for a while, you cry into her arms. She is all you have at this moment, and maybe for the rest of time.
“There is a lot we have to do to start this process, and it won’t be easy, but I will be here with you every step of the way. I will never let anyone hurt you, it wouldn’t be fair. Get some rest tonight, and I will tell you everything tomorrow. You’ve consumed a lot of information tonight, dwelling on it right now won’t help,” Poppy reassures you. Poppy lets you out of her embrace, helping you to lay down on your bed. “I will see you tomorrow, Angel.” Poppy disappears from the room, leaving you alone. Sleep consumes you quickly, not previously realizing how tired you were. Although your anxiety battles your exhaustion, in the end your exhaustion wins.
You wake up to the sound of orchestra music playing, leaving you groggy and confused. A couple of minutes of listening to the music playing throughout where you are staying, and a familiar face appears in your room. “Hi Poppy,” you get out of bed and wave to the Angel. “Thank you for coming to see me, but you should knock next time. What if I was doing something indecent?” You playfully questioned to her, trying to be cheery despite the annoyance of being wakened up abruptly.
“It is not possible for you to be doing something indecent, you are in Heaven, Angel.” Poppy exclaimed, having missed the playful lilt to your question.
“I know Poppy, I was joking! But what if I was changing? Would that not be considered immodest?” You questioned the Angel genuinely, not knowing how Angels really work yet.
“I see now, being without dressing would only be immodest if you were outside of Heaven. Even if you were outside of Heaven, it’d only be immodest if you were in a state of undress in front of non Angels. Otherwise, in Heaven, being in a state of undress is not considered the same. Nothing impure can be thought here.” Poppy exclaims, while handing fabric to you.
“The orchestra music plays every morning and every night to make sure everyone knows to start getting ready. Angels have a very specific routine, but it is something you will get used to with time. After the orchestra is done, the Angels go to pray in the main room.”
You look at the fabric in your hand and then look back up at Poppy, “Do I have to go?” You mumbled, not really thrilled with having to pray after being woken up in a way you were not used to.
“No, there is a lot I must tell you and what we must get done. The music plays for a couple of hours until the Angels must go to pray, but you will stay here while I go. Don’t worry. Although, I would like to ask you to start reading the Bible today. You can’t think of God with anything apart from love, so please, don’t act so uneasy about having to worship him.”
“Poppy, you have to realize I’m not like you, I wasn’t meant to be an Angel. Angel Zen was right. I don’t even fully understand what this entails,” you replied, “why can’t I just be sent to Hell?” you scoffed out the last words to exit your mouth, forgetting that Poppy was in front of you.
“Don’t speak like that. I will be patient with you, but please respect me and my beliefs. You will grow to hold them too, you will grow to be pious like me. I promised Angel Zen.” Poppy scolded you, causing a pout to form on your lips. “Now, there is a lot we must do,”
“So basically, there is no Angel who knows of your existence right now. Besides Angel Zen and I. It must stay that way, no one can know.” Poppy moves to face you, looking at your new look. Apparently when you had been turned into an Angel, not everything changed that was supposed to. All Angels had to have golden eyes and golden blonde hair, although the shades could vary for the hair. You and Poppy had been going back and forth before deciding on the shade of blonde that you both thought complimented your skin tone and features well. “Heaven to Angel… Hello?????” Poppy quietly shouts at you to gain your attention.
“Sorry, got distracted. What was that?” You replied to Poppy, feeling bad due to your inability to focus. You had always had trouble with focusing with people speaking with you, a coping mechanism you developed due to the harsh words from your father and others growing up.
“It’s okay, don’t worry. You don’t have to hurt anymore, I’m here for you. Now, as for what I was saying. You need to choose a new name, no one can know of your Earthly name,” Poppy replied. You aren’t quite sure what to think if you’re being completely honest with yourself, you were never called anything besides your name or nicknames that weren’t derived from your name.
“Poppy, didn’t you say my scent was cherry blossoms?” you questioned Poppy, your memories from the first night still being a bit clouded. She shakes her head yes, inhaling to smell your scent more thoroughly. “Then, I think my name should be Blossom?” you question her again, not knowing if that name was good or even fit you in the slightest.
A huge grin plasters Poppy’s face, “Angel Blossom…. Hmmm… I love it,” she responds back, almost singing. She begins to frolic around the room, she is definitely much more excited than you are over this name.
“Angel Blossom, there are a couple of important things I must go over with you. The most important things, in due time you will learn the rest.” You nod at Poppy, letting her know that she has your undivided attention. “So… Firstly, all Angels shower at least once a day, usually before they go out for their shifts with the humans. Showering with any kinds of scents is prohibited, so is brushing your teeth with any kind of flavoring, and although you don’t need to use deodorant, if you choose to do so, it must be unscented.”
“Why?” you question Poppy, not really understanding why that was such an significant rule.
“Because, any of that can interfere with your scent as an Angel. Your scent is essential to identifying who you are around, and once you start working with humans, they can smell your scent too. Not as well as other Angels or non-human creatures, but it would be confusing for everyone. Plus, a lot of the Angel’s scents are the usual ones for soaps and stuff, so it is just easier for everything to be unscented. So, when you go back to Earth, don’t try to sneak anything back.” Poppy stated to you with a smile which contracted from the serious tone of her voice.
“Anything else I should know, Poppy?” you inquired. The rules so far you thought had been a bit… You can’t particularly find the right word. Weird maybe?
“I’m not going to acknowledge that thought… but I will be teaching you how to hide your thoughts after this. But the main thing for Angels is no cursing, no sexual relations, show grace to everyone you run into, staying clean, and praying. Although praying is most important. Every Angel must pray a minimum of two hours a day. Once before your assignment after you have washed your body and once after your assignment after you have showered and washed your hair. You have to pray more once on an assignment, but don’t worry about that now because that will be a while,” Poppy explained to you.
You must have been talking about the inner workings of how to be an Angel for hours by this point. Poppy had been to prayer and back. Overwhelmed isn’t enough to explain how you feel, you don’t know what happens if you fuck up. “Mess up, Angel Blossom. You don’t know what will happen if you mess up. Don’t worry if you do, I’ll be the only one who knows unless it is so terrible that I have to alert a higher up, but I won’t do that unless completely necessary,” Poppy replied in response to your thought.
“To protect your thoughts from me hearing them, you imagine yourself in a circle of light. Kind of like being trapped in a bubble of light while you think your thought. It gets pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it. Try it.” Poppy shoos you to the mirror in the room, seeing the reflection of your new look and Poppy behind you smiling, hopefully. So you try.
You close your eyes and envision yourself being engulfed by light, almost like God himself was purifying you before you entered the realm of your mind where your thoughts lingered. Your whole body is now in a bubble of light, so this must be it. ‘Poppy, do you ever wish you weren’t an Angel? I would rather not be an Angel, I wanted to be dead,’ you open your eyes and still see Poppy in the reflection of the mirror with you, her face still plastered with the same smile from before. It worked, she couldn’t hear your thoughts.
“Now Blossom, please don’t abuse it. If your thoughts become unkind in any way, please come to me and we will get through it together. Okay?” You nodded in response to her. You can learn to be as pious as Poppy, if that is what helps you get through the predicament that you find yourself in.
“Blossom, I will have to go on an assignment soon,” Poppy pauses and looks around, “and between me and you, I think this person will likely be your first assignment when you’re ready.” Poppy whispers the second part of her statement, you assumed you likely weren’t supposed to know that yet, which earns a nod from Poppy. Being able to read each other’s thoughts likely won’t be the worst thing in the world.
“May I ask you a question before you leave?”
“Yes. What is it?”
“Have they found my body yet?”
“No, I think they actually are tonight.”
You look at Poppy and softly grin, ‘can you please take me with you? I’ll do whatever, can I see myself one last time? My old self.’ Poppy turns away to in front, her mouth slightly agape. She turns back towards you, putting her finger to her mouth in an usher to stay quiet, even though you know she will tell you with her thoughts anyway. ‘Yes, but you have to do as I say. You have to be quiet, okay? You can go anywhere with me so we aren’t breaking any rules, but I don’t want anyone telling me it is too soon because then I cannot take you.’ You perk up instantly, going to freshen up. Your excitement causes Poppy to giggle, who then follows you promptly to freshen up as well before her assignment. Your future assignment.
You and Poppy are sitting on the railings on the edge of the peer, there is a gigantic boat which holds a crane. The men on the boat are talking among each other, likely figuring out where exactly the car sits on the ocean floor. Poppy moves to hold your hand, the vibe surrounding you both becoming a solemn one. Flashbacks of your past life flood the forefront of your mind, which causes you to look focus at the scene right in front of you. It isn’t really that big of a deal, no movement has come from the crane. You’re grateful that Poppy taught you how to hide your thoughts, you aren’t sure what Poppy knew of your human life, but if she didn’t know, you didn’t want her to find out.
The sound of the crane moving makes you come back to reality. It positions itself before falling into the water. The process of the attachment of the crane entering the water and for the car itself to emerge from the ocean takes a bit longer than you thought you would. Once the car is safely placed upon the boat, a man goes to look inside. “There are human remains,” The main yells in a monotonous voice. The tears fall from your eyes before you can stop them, your body falling into Poppy as you sob. You aren’t sure why it is affecting you so much, you knew you were dead. You wanted to die. Poppy holds you until you calm down, comforting you with kind words while playing with your hair.
“I needed you when I was alive,” you choke out to Poppy. Maybe life would’ve been manageable with you as my Guardian Angel. You don’t bother to hide your thought, it’s the truth. You wished you had someone by your side when you were alive, but what it is already done. ‘Angel, you have a second chance and with me by your side forever now. Please don’t cry, you will always be at peace when I am with you,’ Poppy nudges your head into the crook of her neck and sways you for a few more minutes. You have completely calmed down now.
“We need to go check on my assignment now, are you ready?” you nod in response to her question and before too long you are in the room of the young child who lays there twiddling their thumbs looking at the ceiling. ‘Can they see us Poppy?’ you ask and Poppy shakes her heard. ‘Only when we have out our wings,’ she replies. You watch the child for a couple of hours until they fall asleep.
“I have to stay here until the morning, Blossom,” Poppy whispers while motioning at the child.
“What can I do?” you ask, now twiddling your thumbs like the child was earlier.
Poppy moves to sit by the child, her head resting on the side of the bed where the child was sleeping.
“There is a park out in the front, with some benches. Keep a look-out for if a man comes stumbling, if you do, please let me know. Otherwise, just sit and relax,” Poppy answered. You move to leave, being able to teleport is something that you quite enjoy now that you are an Angel.
“Before you go, don’t talk to any Demons. Isn’t worth the risk. All of them have horns of some sort and a long tail. They are required to show at least one when they are on Earth. Remember, they have really telling scents, something you would likely consider masculine. Call me if you sense any danger, no matter how small it seems.” Poppy muttered to you, like your voices would somehow wake up the child.
The park is not too far away from the building. As soon as you got to the bench, you hid in your thoughts. You’re able to do it while your eyes are open now, which makes you happy. You have hours to think to yourself about whatever you want, void of responsibilities apart from making sure you tell Poppy of a stumbling man, likely drunk, entering the building.
“Penny for your thoughts, Angel?” the voice of the man startles you, not noticing him walk up to you.
“You can see me?” You ask the man, while taking in his features. His jawline is sharp, his eyes are a dark brown, and dark brown hair adorns his face. He smells like cinnamon, which instantly takes you back to the coffee shops you and Dina had visited to when you could.
“Yes I can see you, Angel. What are you doing out here this late at night? Assignment?” He asks, his voice almost lulling you into more comfort than you likely should have been feeling. His voice was higher pitched, but charming indeed.
“Something like that, what are you doing out here?” you ask back, wondering why a sober man is walking around this late at night.
“Looking for the love of my life,” his response catches you off guard, you look at him with shock in your eyes, which causes him to laugh.
“I wish you the best of luck,” you look in front of you as to not mess up the one thing you were told to do. You were oblivious to the smirk he had worn across his face.
“What’s your name?” the man next to you trying to make conversation with you.
“Any guesses?” you say in response, the man now biting his lip. How come you couldn’t have come across him when you were alive? You quickly dismissed the thought, as you knew nothing would ever come of it anyway.
“Cherry,” he answers. You shake your head no in response, the man now dramatically pouting due to his incorrect answer.
“You were close. It is Blossom, why did you guess Cherry?” you ask before remembering that, you do, in fact, smell strongly of cherry blossoms. You facepalm at your stupidity at that moment.
“I see you realized the answer to your question, Cherry. But I think I’ll still call you Cherry, though. My little cherry blossom.” The pet name quickly brings a redness to your cheeks, looking away so he doesn’t see. And it works, he says nothing about it. If he did notice, he gave you the luxury of not having to deal with teasing.
“What is your name? Something cinnamon related?” you tease. The man beside you looks at you a bit confused, like maybe you should have known his name. Did he tell you already? Wow! you really are stupid today. He doesn’t say anything but shakes his head and chuckles. You nod in response, knowing you’ll probably think of the interaction for a while after this.
“An Angel typically already knows my name Cherry,” the brown-eyed man responds. If you’re being honest, you have no idea who this man is. He seems to think he is important?
“I’m sorry,” is all you manage to say in response. You both are now quiet, he hasn’t left, still very much there when you look through your peripheral vision. You are trying to be subtle with your glances, not even turning to him. He, on the other hand, is looking right at you, studying you. He keeps a studious expression on his face until he notices you sneaking glances, when he sees you looking he smirks at you, causing a red tint to appear on your face every time.
‘Blossom, is that man next to you talking to you?’
‘He was, but we are not talking anymore,’
As soon as the thought was over Poppy appeared in front of you and the man. She stood firm and confident, but her hand was trembling at the sight of you and the man on the bench. Her mouth is parted, but no words are coming out, only getting the courage to speak once she shows her wings to you both.
‘What did I tell you to do before you came out here Blossom,’
‘To watch for a stumbling man enter the building, I promise he didn’t come’
‘You did that part right, that isn’t the problem’
“Stop speaking with your minds and speak with the mouth your God gave you, Angels,” his tone scolding the both of you. You suppose it was a bit rude, but you didn’t see why it was such a big deal.
“Angel Blossom, what did I tell you before you came out here besides watching for a man?”
“Not to talk to Demons and how to spot one?” you spoke barely above a whisper. The man beside you chuckles at the answer you give to the Angel who is raising her voice at you, but somehow softly.
“How do you spot a Demon?”
“Strong masculine scent, horns or a long tail, or both?” You aren’t sure why she is asking you this, the man beside you doesn’t have horns or a tail? Why is she so scared.
“What did I say the main sign of one was?”
“Scent.”
“What kind of scent?”
“Earthy and strong,”
“What does he smell like?”
“Cinnamon”
“Where does cinnamon come from?”
“A tree”
“Where do trees come from?”
“The Earth”
You still don’t quite understand the conversation. The man beside you has one of three of what Poppy told you. Poppy begins stomping towards you and grabs your arm, dragging you from the bench to stand next to her. “So why can you not notice once a Demon is next to you? Was his smell not enough to tell you? Was his evil aura not enough?” Poppy shouts. You haven’t heard her voice get that loud before, and you begin to cry, everything is too much for to you handle.
“And you, why are you not in your true form. You know as well as any other Demon that you have to show your horns or tail so why are you not!?” venom laces Poppy’s voice, and if did not know she was an Angel already, if you saw her at this very moment you would not put her as one. The anger that has permeated her voice since she has spoken tonight is not that of an Angel.
“Angel, The Kings of Hell don’t have to obey the rules of a lowly Demon.” He stands up, taking a couple of steps towards you both, which causes you and Poppy to take steps back. “And Angel, watch your tone when you’re speaking to a King. I may not be your God, but that doesn’t mean I’m not close to it. And be nicer to your little friend. She was being mean to you, wasn’t she Cherry? Dragging you like that.” He matches Poppy’s energy in his response, his eyes flickering a shade of red.
“You let him give you a nickname?” Poppy asked in a whisper, to which you nodded. Poppy looks towards the man again while holding your hand. “Sir—”
“King”
“You are not my King,”
“No I am not, but I am one. So refer to me as such when you are speaking to me,”
“K-king, I apologize for my outburst. I was only worried for Bl-Blossom. The Eight Kings of Hell don’t usually wander on Earth often. It is what we are taught, anyway. I simply thought that someone below you was not doing what they were supposed to do. Please do not fault me for not trusting a Demon. Please,” Poppy trembles as she responds to the male, her grip on your hand was now strong enough to break the bones that find themselves under her grasp.
“You want the forgiveness of one of the Kings of Hell?” his voice is more gruff now than it was when he first spoke to you, which causes chills to run through your body as he speaks.
“Yes, if that will keep us safe from your wrath.”
“Luckily for you, I am not the ruler of wrath,” he walks closer to Poppy and gets in her face, only inches away. “Beg.”
“Beg?”
“Beg for my forgiveness if you want it so bad, tell me what you want. I’m known for being a bit nicer than the others. If you don’t, I can always call them, no? Eight Kings of Hell who can figure out what to do with two scared Angels. Your call, Angel” he enunciates every syllable of Angel clearly, as to mock Poppy.
Poppy is the most devout Angel you know. She loves God. Albeit she is the only Angel you know, you can almost for sure say she is the most pious. You look at the Demon and he’s smirking. He is having fun scaring you both.
You don’t expect Poppy to beg, you are for one wondering why you haven’t teleported out of there. But sure enough, Poppy falls to the ground. She lands on her knees in front of the male, having now let go of your hand.
“Please forgive my outburst. Don’t take unkindly to Angel Blossom, they didn’t do anything. If you must do something, take it out on me. Please don’t hurt us. I won’t say anything I promise, please believe me,” Poppy sobbed on her knees in front of the man who now looks at her from where he is standing.
“Why can’t an Angel not spot a Demon? Why can’t they feel my aura? Angels do not come within ten feet of me whether I am in my form or not. Why did my little Cherry Blossom not know who I was? I know they tell you all about the Kings of Hell,” he asks, crouching down to Poppy’s eye level before she responds to him.
“They are not an experienced Guardian Angel, t-they were an Angel who stayed in Heaven to help out with the others who have passed on. An Angel for the non-living so to say, not the living. They have never encountered a Demon before, and there was never any need for them to do so. Please excuse their ignorance,” Poppy manages to choke out. You can tell she is scared out of her mind.
“Don’t worry, I never intended to hurt you or Cherry. I never would’ve called on the other Kings,” he whips his head over to you, “and before you ask why I have graced you from punishment of speaking ill to a King, ask Cherry why. All you have to do is think” the man vanishes as quick as he appeared to you earlier that night, once he is gone, you fall next to Poppy.
“I didn’t know Poppy, I promise I didn’t know. I apologize for my language in advance, but I’ve only been doing this Angel shit for two fucking days. I was just being nice, he was being nice to me. I’m sorry,”
“It’s okay Blossom, I’m not mad at you. You and I, we are going to go back up with the child, and we are not going to speak of this ever again. Do not ever speak about me falling to my knees begging to a King of Hell for our lives, don’t ever speak about talking to him, don’t talk about him, don’t think about him, don’t ask me why I did what I did. When we get back to Heaven, we’ll share a room because it wouldn’t be wise for either of us to be alone anymore, and we’ll forget this ever happened,”
“But what about—”
“No buts, listen to me. Do not even ask me through our thoughts. Just forget about it and it will be as if it had never happened. For me, please. And you’re never leaving Heaven again until you fully believe in God, unless another higher - up Angel commands it. That’s final.”
You both nod in understanding before going back up to watch the child that you both were supposed to be watching. You both went into action of not acknowledging what just happened, so much so that you never noticed that King anymore on your trip to Earth.
You didn’t notice when he watched you go back to the child, and you didn’t notice when he watched you transport yourselves back to Heaven. Who cares that the last thing he said to you was not a suggestion, but a warning as to what was to come? Surely, it won’t matter when you forget it ever happened, right?
A/N 2 : so which king of hell do you think appeared 👀 let me know in the comments or in an ask, i’m curious as to who y’all think of when you read! and dont worry, y’all will find out who it was in chapter two 🙏

Bodyguard (Mingi)
It all started the night you made the irresponsible decision of coming back home drunk from a party.
Your father's peaceful slumber was disturbed by the sound of you staggering and stumbling into your home.
It wasn't the first time you had pulled one of your immature stunts.
But he couldn't really blame you.
It was your age to explore and make bad decisions.
He just couldn't let that happen if it was preventable. You were his little girl after all.
He watched as a distance as your wobbly legs brought you to your room.
Once he was sure you were out.
He tucked you in laying a tender kiss on your forehead as he lovingly gazed at you.
You looked so much like your mother it made his heart warm.
That was exactly why he could never say no to you.
Anything you wanted he gave you.
He could barely even get himself to raise his voice at you.
Maybe he'd have to outsource the task to someone else.
You needed structure and discipline in your life and if he couldn't give that to you he had to find someone who could.
He had been contemplating the topic for a while now.
He needed a pair of eyes on you at all times.
His secretary had suggested the idea of hiring a bodyguard.
He would keep you safe from others as well as yourself.
Your father spent the next couple of weeks looking through resumes sent by security firms all trying to get his attention given that he was a wealthy man that would need the extra security and obviously he wouldn't hold back any expense when it came to you.
After weeks of searching for the perfect fit he settled on Song Mingi going by his professional name Ghost.
He was ex-military with a stellar record and high recommendations.
Given his expertise this job would just be quick and easy money for him.
He had already settled in his quarters when he was called into your father's office for a debriefing of his responsibilities which was to be your shadow.
You couldn't help but eves drop on the conversation.
Blood boiling you weren't a child and you surely didn't need this big oaf of a man constantly tailing you wherever you went.
It was frustrating trying to convince your father that you didn't need supervision it was like talking to a brick wall so you just decided to give up.
How bad could this man possibly be.
He wasn't the worst companion to have he took you to and from work.
Took you shopping
Took you to meet your friends complied to most of your requests as long as he deemed them reasonable.
Never speaking more than a couple of sentences at a time to you.
You tried to pry out personal information from him the best you could but at most all you out of him was an annoyed grunt.
The constant surveillance made you feel uneasy.
It was like you couldn't breathe freely in your own home.
The one place you are meant to feel at ease.
Tonight was one of those particular nights you woke up around midnight craving chocolate chip cookies a quick inspection of the pantry proved fruitless as you lacked the ingredients to make them.
The store was only a couple of blocks away a quick drive could easily fix your stubborn cravings.
As you were about to turn the door knob towards freedom you could feel a familiar presence engulfing you.
His muscular arms close the slightly ajar door.
Yanking you back inside.
"Where do you think you're going "
I want cookies.
"It's 1 am. Go back to your room."
Please. I'm craving them so bad.
"Well that's not really my problem. Go back to bed I'll take you in the morning. I don't want you pulling one of your stunts on me and trying to run away"
I wont. I'll be good I promise. You can cuff me to you if you want. It would be impossible to run off with Goliath attached onto my arm now wouldn't it.
"Very funny. I'd appreciate it if you kept your jokes to yourself. I'll take you if you promise to behave try to pull something and I'm locking you up for a week and before you start whining like a bitch and going to cry to daddy about how much of a big bully I am. He left for a business trip earlier in the evening so you'll be under my care for the next month or so.
So make it easier on the both of us and try not to be too much of a pain in the ass. I would hate to have you force my hand and with your daddy not here who knows what I would do to you."
Muttering under your breath would get you anywhere neither will trying to reason with him.
So you just shook your head and followed him into the car as he held open the door for you.
The trip to the store went smoothly as now you were putting in the balls of cookie dough into the oven laying down on the couch waiting for them to bake.
As he came in to check on you he found your form curled up on the couch.
He had to admit you did look cute like this when you weren't running your mouth to him.
He did understand your side as well it isn't exactly pleasant to have someone constantly hover over you and micro manage your every move but that was his job and he did gain some sick pleasure in having so much control over you.
He could dictate anything he wanted and you had to do it.
He managed to manipulate your father into letting him have full control over you feeding him lies about your behaviour and giving him empty threats of quitting.
This is where his obsession of control started,  it was never really innocent.
All his life he got orders when he was in the military no matter how humiliating they were he had to follow them.
As a soldier he had to do whatever his superiors asked of him. No questions or negotiation ever available to him.
It often hurt his ego and left him bitter.
For the first time in his life he had complete and absolute control over something.
He could ask anything of you and you would have to comply out of fear of him limiting your freedom and with your father out of the picture he would only indulge into it more.
He would control everything from where you went to what you wore to whom you met.
All under the guise of keeping you safe. Your father was a wealthy man he had his fair share of enemies.
In his eyes he was only protecting you doing what was best for you.
The pleasure he got out of turning you into his obedient pet was just a bonus.
He picked up your sleeping form with ease laying you down on your bed.
Before turning off the over leaving the freshly baked cookies to cool grabbing a few with him.
That he ate while watching your sleeping form through the cameras he has installed throughout the house.
It was like his own personal television show starring you, his favourite doll.
Just a quick drabble. Might do a part 2
