I think it says a lot about the respective ships that the first Kataang shipper was Sokka and the first Zutara shipper was Jun.

Tall, buff Azula is great; but consider: tall, lanky Azula. She's taller than Zuko but bean-pole shaped.
This is also very good. Really, the "tall" part is the critical part, as it is crucial to the inherent comedy of
a) Azula going through the "awkward, gangly limbs" stage, and b) Zuko being shorter than his little sister.

anyways ik this has been debated to death and i think ive even said this in the tags on some post on here but like, of all the issues with "aang should've killed ozai" this is the one that gets me the most:
the idea that aang had to kill ozai, that it's somehow a cop out to remove his ability to do harm while keeping him alive, that he has to die because of all the people he's killed, is essentially saying that aang has to win on ozai's terms and not his own.
this idea that if someone is in the way of your goals, the best or only way to handle it is through violence--that's ozai's mindset. if aang killed him, ozai would die with the invisible comfort of knowing that he was right. maybe he was wrong about himself and his own infallibility, but he was right that might-makes-right and that violence is the only way to solve this kind of conflict. in doing so, aang would be implicitly ceding ideological ground to ozai.
which doesn't bother me so much as an idea--sometimes violence is the only answer irl unfortunately (tho i maintain it should be a last resort and be used thoughtfully and carefully), but it bothers me because it's unfair to aang. his pacifism is all he has left of his people. his sense of self is all he has left of his people. why should he have to give that up to satisfy punitive justice enjoyers in an audience he doesn't know exists?
the fire nation looked at the air nomads and saw them and their culture as worthless, as disposable, as weak. aang's ultimate confrontation with ozai is a refutation of that idea. that his people's beliefs are valuable and worthwhile and worth preserving in whatever way he can. that he doesn't have to abandon them in order to be strong. aang defeating ozai the way he did allowed him to not only defeat ozai specifically and end the war, but also allowed him to defeat ozai ideologically, which matters in a fictional narrative in which conflicts are as symbolic as they are literal. I would argue that Aang defeating the Fire Lord without killing him is far more of a form of justice he could get for the Air Nomads than killing him would've been.

"Nooo you can’t like Azulon x Ilah, because Azulon is evil"
Tumblr media
Oh, I can and I also know that he is a shitty imperialist that attacked the water tribes but he loves his wife and was shitty to his second son. I don’t see the problem.

"Who's Zuko?" "Oh just some angry freak with a ponytail." The fact that the Gaang identifies him to Toph by his hair and not his scar implies they literally wouldn't recognize him with his new hair skdhrgdgsvscsvsgg what a concept
Atla au where Katara visits the Jasmine Dragon and orders a cup of tea, thanks "Lee" and goes about her day without connecting the dots. Zuko and Iroh are left completely baffled.

Loved this scene in the atla live action because right. Zuko could easily beat that woman. He could drop her without thinking about it. But she’s not who he’s after, it’s Aang that he wants, and despite denying it, Zuko still has compassion for innocent lives. So even when it would be easier to just punch her in the face and move on, Zuko lets her beat him back because he doesn’t really want to hurt people, he just wants to go home

I always see the "sunshine" character reduced to someone who is simply happy and bubbly all the time and I was thinking about how I wanted a sunshine character who is sunshine but because they choose to be - because they wake up every day and choose kindness
and then I remembered aang exists and that want has been filled

Aang: Hi, I’m the Avatar. But you can call me Aang.
Stranger: Hello Avatar, and who are those individuals with you?
Aang: These are my friends and Element Bending Masters
Stranger: I see, and what element do you teach?
Katara: I’m Katara, I’m the Water bender.
Toph: I’m Toph, I’m the Earth Bending master, also metal bending
Zuko: Zuko here, I’m the Fire bender of the group.
Stranger: I see, how wonderful. But wait, (looks to Sokka) What Element do you teach?
Sokka: (Smirks) Rizz

sorry but if you think sokka being sexist is like the defining aspect of his character to where he's unrecognizable without it that says more about you than it does about the live action tbh
