MAPPA didn’t make the characters ugly, it’s Wit that made everyone too beautiful - Let me explain!

By far, one of the biggest complaints thrown around when season 4 part 1 of Attack on Titan first aired was how MAPPA made all the characters—especially the female characters—ugly. There’s some merit to that complaint, but not in the way most people were coming at it

Not sure if it’d been said before, but I think the only reason MAPPA’s aot looks “ugly” is because Wit went out of their way to make every too beautiful—unnaturally so

I have a case to make here and will be going over it one element at a time

Colors

Let’s first look at how each studio picks their colors. This is the most apparent in the flashback shots were MAPPA basically reanimated whole scenes in their style

Both studios use three basic “shades” for every same-color surface

For Wit that’s the base color, a darker variation for shading, and then a highlight, used generously on the characters’ hair and faces (sometimes they add a darker shade, but not often)

MAPPA uses a base color, a darker tone for shading, but they also add cross hatching to emphasize the even darker areas, usually around the eyes and under the neck

MAPPA also very rarely use highlights—only in cases where there’s bright light to actually reflects off of the high points of a character’s face and hair

The same can also be seen in the color choices. Wit’s color palette is overall brighter. They almost never go with true black tones for things and texture that are meant to be black

Characters like Mikasa and Levi, who’re meant to have black hair, they’re given either dark gray or a shade of dark brown that looks black compared to everything around it

MAPPA’s color choices are darker, more somber, this includes the hair colors

Another example is Armin and Annie’s hair colors. In seasons 1-3, the colors are so bright they could almost be considered yellow hair, but MAPPA tones it down, giving them more “natural” blond tones

This is applied all over, from clothes to backgrounds

Proportions

To keep things on the less complicated end, I’m dividng art styles on a scale from “realistic proportions” to “chibi” with the first being closer to the sizing and variation of a human body and the latter focusing on bigger heads and bigger eyes compared to everything else

MAPPA’s style, despite still being solidly Anime, is significantly more realistic leaning than Wit’s, which is more “cute”

Starting with the faces, Wit’s faces are less angular and more rounded. They’ve also given the characters bigger and brighter eyes, along with smaller noses and mouths—especially when the character isn’t talking

Meanwhile, MAPPA has a more realistic approach to facial proportions, therefor, less cute

When it comes to body proportions, it’s harder to compare all the main cast members

There's a 4-year time skip so I'll be sticking to adult characters for obvious reasons

The difference in proportions is immediately obvious. Not only are their shoulders wider compared to their heads, but their limbs are also fuller, when Wit kept them lanky. Their arms, legs, and waists feel like they have more weight to them in MAPPA’s style compared to Wit

Effortlessly Gorgeous

It’s perfectly normal to have attractive anime/manga protagonists. They attract a wider audience and they’ll sell more merch if they’re pretty, handsome, or sexy

I think the main problem with Wit is that the characters are made to always look beautiful. Even at their worse: fighting titans, getting thrown off and rolling on dirt, almost dying- doesn’t matter, they’re always made to look gorgeous with glistening hair that's never out of place

This is most apparent in the characters aot presents as being the most beautiful: Mikasa and Annie

In the middle of battle, their hair always falls back neatly into place. They can have dirt or blood on them but never too much. Not to mention, the lip gloss shimmer that almost every young female character in the anime has

MAPPA…

not so much.

This is partially thanks to the cross hatching they use in shading, gives the character’s expressions a more raw appearance rather than elegantly crafted like some Hollywood film

It's not really just a matter of different art styles, it's a bunch of factors coming together that makes something less "cute" and more grown up looking

How do the styles compare to the manga?

It’s really hard to give a straight answer since Isayama’s style changes drastically over the source of 139 chapters

I’d say Wit was able to take more creative liberties with character designs and the style of the artwork simply because Isayama’s style itself wasn’t as developed/refined during the first few dozen chapters

While it’s hard to say about the colors since the manga is in black and white, any colored covers we do get are more muted, even compared to MAPPA. As for shading, Isayama goes strong on cross hatching and I think MAPPA does him justice in that regard

So when people throw a tantrum online that MAPPA made Annie and Mikasa ugly, then, yeah, sure ugly as in less polished and less baby-like, but only compared to Wit

The manga is generally more gruesome in its portryal and Wit, I feel, leaned too much into the style of the late 2000s early 2010s

So, I took the time to watch the Attack on Titan finale today.....

I don't know why, because everyone keeps saying that the anime ending was a huge step up from the manga's ending. Jeez, has it really been three years since that dropped the ball?

So I decided I needed to see for myself what it really changed, I had the time so I forced myself through it, to see what exactly the big deal all was; mostly what was different, and what it did that was so far removed from the comic.

Well I gotta admit, I was surprised by what I saw.

The animation was really impressive, much better than what I've seen of MAPPA's handiwork from the rest of this season. The whole thing just kept going bigger and bigger, and it just never seemed to slow down. It's definitely one of the most impressive battles of the series, especially when so much focus on fighting and ending the Titans seemed to be lost after so long. Plus I forgot how stunning MAPPA's backgrounds can be, almost like WIT's. I guess that's what you call "peak" in the anime circle now, huh?

Levi......What can I say, he's an absolute badass, and the battle was worth it just to see him plow through Eren's army of Titans in all of his glory. Nothing can slow this guy down, and he definitely earned his ending. Sure he lost everyone who was near and dear to him but at least he can finally get some measure of peace. A much better finish than what the manga gave us, in its own weird way.

Was surprisingly touching to see the fallen Scouts again btw. Should have had Marco somewhere for Jean's sake, but maybe they can finally move on to a better place, wherever that may be.

Well the Armin and Eren scene pulled no punches, did it? XD Bad puns aside, I was surprised at how emotionally charged that scene was, Eren seemed really sorry for everything. At least he finally owned up to it in the end. Such a shame he was left with so little choice in the end.

And really, I realized how hard I was on Mikasa. She knew the life she thought she and Eren could have was beyond all hope, and in the end she made the right choice, agonizing as it was. In the end Mikasa really was too good for Eren, theirs is a love that was tragically cut short by circumstance. He couldn't help it, she couldn't help it.......Eremika truly is an unsung Shakespearean tragedy.

Oh don't you worry Eren, I'm sure she was thinking of you well beyond ten years. Who could fault her? We all know you meant well....

So........now everyone's saying it took two thousand years if not more for this to happen, huh? Well I guess that sort of makes up for it.....At least nobody we knew and loved lived to see it, right? I guess we can stop blaming Eren for whatever brought this upon Paradis, right?

Well, whatever the case may be, after finally seeing it I can say the anime ending makes up for a lot of what the manga left hanging. Great animation, such raw emotions, the insane music.......It was a long slog, but I'm glad I was proven wrong about everything I have said since the manga ending came out. This really helped to tie everything together much better, made the loss of such a wondrous cast a little easier to swallow. In the end, they gave their hearts, and in the end, it's much better to feeling something than to feel nothing.

So kudos to Studio MAPPA, and kudos to Hajime Isayama, truly I underestimated you. I feel like seeing this animated opened my eyes to so much of what I thought was missing. Suddenly things are so much clearer. Now.......Now I understand.......Eren only did what had to be done. Well played Mr. Isayama, well played.

And with that, I just want to leave with a quick shoutout to the true GOAT of Attack on Titan..........

What is it —

A full-blown American made animated sequel series to the Attack On Titan anime that is also a female-led spin-off starring Historia Reiss and Mikasa Ackerman as the protagonists.

PREMISE:

Four years after both the Rumbling and the Battle Of Heaven and Earth and one year after the epilogue, we find that the Queen Of The Walls is no longer Queen Of The Walls as we at first follow Historia Reiss, now going by her former alias 'Christa Lenz', who's currently residing in Manhattan, NY (yes, you read that right and you'll get the detailed explanation later) with her daughter Ymir, having put aside her crown and role as ruler of Paradis in order to give herself and her child a new life that's as ordinary as can be. But the chance at said new life and starting over doesn't come easy in any way, shape or even form as Historia is struggling to live a normal life with her kid as a modern-day person in the Big Apple for she's working an underpaid job as a hospital nurse, is already behind on rent, lives in a closed down bookstore she turned into a home and top it off, she owes debt to three dangerous people who are tied to the criminal underworld running drug trafficking in the big city.

It's through the latter that one of the three she owes payment to takes an interest in her and drags her into said underworld where after Historia betrays and (spoilers) shoots her the first chance she gets once she gets a sniff of enough money to pay off her debts and give both her and Ymir the life they want, the person reveals that not only (more spoilers) do they have grotesque regenerative and contortionistic powers but that said person is none other than Mikasa Ackerman herself.

Against her will and being given the same abilities as her, Historia is forced to not only marry Mikasa and be her wife but also be part of what Mikasa's been truly plotting only for it to unfortunately go south due to the effects of other storylines interweaving with each other and ultimately leads Mikasa down a path of redemption and letting go of Eren Yeager while it leads Historia down a path of hope and letting go of her girlfriend Ymir, her husband Wolfgang and her sister Frieda.

NOTES/TRIVIA/DETAILS:

• First things first, what's up with the modern-day Manhattan, New York setting? Here in Deathwatch, it's revealed at least here in the anime continuity that Marley and Eldia are only just ONE side to this universe as the rest of the world is perfectly fine and exactly as it is today with said rest of the world having completely ostracized Marley, their allies and Eldia in absolute horror and disgust but now after the events of the series finale, the modern world is now paying full attention to their side now that 80% of them were wiped out and the Titans are gone. This is introduced to us through Historia watching CNN on one of the hospital's flat-screen TVs.

• The show will not only go back to its grounded and grittier roots of the first two seasons of its predecessor as no matter how big and fantastical as it gets, it still remains somewhat grounded or grounded to some degree especially with the characters, action sequences and scenarios but also be done in the animation style of the first two seasons of its predecessor as well with Mikasa and Historia being in their S2 designs to which they fully acknowledge their new appearances.

• As for who the other characters are, I won't give anything away however I will only tell you about two to give you a good taste of what I'm cooking — Tobin Foster (Kiefer Sutherland) is at first what appears to be another criminal who is an enforcer keeping things in line only for it to be revealed that he's in fact an undercover FBI agent ready to take this drug operation down while Sam Vahue (Kirk Acevedo) is an escaped prisoner on the run who's not only guilty of his crime but is also used as a pawn in the chess game that the characters including Mikasa and even Historia are playing.

• Now let's get to the good stuff with Mikasa and Historia — here after the bird returned her scarf to her that Eren wrapped around her when they first met, Mikasa starts off as a totally different person but not in a good way. She's now a deadly and extremely dangerous bounty hunter who at first hunted and killed modern-day criminals and is currently working certain gangs against each other for her own gain. Top of that, her personality is different too.... she's cunning, smooth-talking, twisted, sadistic, boisterous, vile and controlling with a dark sense of humor and enjoys tormenting Historia. At least, that's how she starts off. For as it goes on, Mikasa begins to open up to Historia once she realized she and her have a lot in common with each other and starts showing a softer side to her. It's this softer side that romance begins blossoming as well in this dark underbelly. They start becoming a genuinely loving and caring couple with Mikasa doing whatever it takes to protect Historia, her beloved wife. It's shown that the two of them, despite their horrifying start at the beginning, do truly love each other and end up becoming a power couple right down to where whenever one of them is in trouble, the other is always there to get her out of it.

• Others added into the mix are flat-out horror elements, the animation being more expressive and fluid, Mikasa's body movements being cat-like, it having brutal but grounded violence on the same level of something like Oz and Bound, the fourth image above being the looks and outfits of Mikasa and Historia and last but not least also showing flat-out sex and full-frontal nudity.

• Just for fun, both Mikasa and Historia will have their bumbling, screw-up and boobish moments like these three examples throughout to show that they're anything but perfect yet it makes sense in the context of the show because Historia is getting back into any sort of actual action before she became Queen and Mikasa thinks that she's been through so much and has fought against so many odds that she makes no mistakes at all.

• Another thing just for fun is that there will be a few easter eggs here and there sprinkled in from other media that anyone whose a fan of all sorts of different types of said media can catch quickly. For example, Historia uses a black Egyptian book to beat a certain character on the head multiple times.

MANGA RECS:

1: The Case Study of Vanitas (Vanitas no Carte)

I knowww it's a cliche that BSD fans must also enjoy VNC, but it's genuinely just AHH so good!! it currently sits at 62.5 chapters (10 volumes & 9 uncollected chapters) and it has a 2-season anime adaptation. it's the second manga series by Jun Mochizuki, who's also well-known for her series Pandora Hearts, and is still ongoing.

set in 19th-century France, our story begins with Noe, a young vampire, who's excitedly travelling to Paris for the first time. in his travels, he encounters the strange and enigmatic Vanitas, a human who somehow possesses the power of the Vampire of the Blue Moon- a feared being shunned by the rest of the vampire world.

we learn from the very beginning that Noe is recounting this story to us, and that he kills Vanitas with his own hands- but why? how? nobody knows, but we're bound to find out!

2. Attack on Titan

I doubt anyone was expecting me to mention this one, because it has quite a reputation for being gore-filled and action-packed, but when I say this literally changed my life I'm really not kidding (I wouldn't have this blog or be into anime at all if not for AOT!). it's a completed story, with a four-season anime (including 3 OVA episodes) and 139 manga chapters (in the main storyline; there are multiple spin-offs and 2 bonus mangas/light novels).

many years ago, the final remnants of humanity were forced to flee into a city surrounded by three giant walls. these walls are the only things keeping humanity from perishing at the hand of the titans, giant humanoid figures who hunt and eat them. but a young boy, Eren, wants nothing more than to see the world beyond the wall- until a titan taller than their walls breaks into the city, throwing humanity (and Eren's life) into disarray.

though it's true that a large chunk of this animanga is action, the lore is incredible. I can't say too much without spoiling, but the thought-provoking aspects aren't talked about nearly as much as I think they should be. once you've finished watching or reading, I highly recommend you watch this video, which is one of my favourite video essays of all time!

BOOK RECS:

1. Slaughterhouse Five

this is one of my favourite books of all time, and it's only 177 pages, so it's a super quick read! not only is it severely anti-war, but it's deeply though-provoking. I think about it every day. I quote it regularly. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially now, with everything happening in the world.

I honestly don't have words for how much I love it, so here's the synopsis on Goodreads:

Prisoner of war, optometrist, time-traveller - these are the life roles of Billy Pilgrim, hero of this miraculously moving, bitter and funny story of innocence faced with apocalypse. Slaughterhouse 5 is one of the world's great anti-war books. Centring on the infamous fire-bombing of Dresden in the Second World War, Billy Pilgrim's odyssey through time reflects the journey of our own fractured lives as we search for meaning in what we are afraid to know.

2. No Longer Human

there are so many editions of this, and I would recommend all of them- this is my other favourite book of all time, by the way. I may be barking up the wrong tree when I tell a BSD fan to read Dazai, one of the most accessible and relatable Japanese authors for a Western audience, but hey, I've got to remind you just in case you haven't given it a shot.

No Longer Human follows the life of Yozo Oba, a boy born into a big rich family, who constantly feels at-odds with the world around him. it's an exploration of mental illness, social isolation, self-expression, and compassion. I actually have an entire youtube video talking about it and how BSD-Dazai reflects Yozo as much as irl-Dazai, and it's my pride and joy so please go watch it!

the battle at trost, most definitely. like you’re being super jittery , and then you and eren have a cute moment where he’s teaching you how to use your gear—bc nobody’s died yet and he’s in high-ish spirits—and like you’re competent ; you wouldn’t have passed the training if you weren’t , you were just nervous so he’s being “supportive”

like this dude would probably push you off the building so you would be forced into fighting—and then you discover that you’re actually pretty good at it

“eren!” he’s the first one you call to as you stand, still zipping above you, “my first kill!” you nod in the direction of the subjugated titan on the ground below.

“you’re doing it!” he lands beside you, “but stay frosty,” his smile fades, “we’re not done yet!”

“never will be!” you quip, your expression matching his, ( his heart squeezed when you looked at him like that ; dumbass probably wrote it off as ‘nerves’ ) and you ditch your dulled blades.

you turn to him, “let’s go!”

so yes , you guys were fighting titans together , looking like a real power couple

you try your best to keep everyone alive, but once things become unpredictable, you start to lose it and you can’t get it together

eventually—and honestly, at no complete fault of your own, the “randoms” ( i am so not sorry ) eventually end up dying, as they did in the episode

“we’re gonna fall back.” you sigh

“what?”

armin blinked, “but the higher ups said—“

“—what would they say if they knew there were three of us left?”

“there’s an outpost toward the. . .” you picture a compass in your mind, “. . .west.”

“there, we can refill our tanks” you turn your back to the two

“if we meet up with another group. . .maybe we can tag-along with whoever is there but if it were up to me, we’d be retreating” you don’t wait for a response before heading off in that direction, knew they would be following

( eren hates when people on his level boss him around, but as someone who writes my readers to be anxiety prone , he’d probably see you as passive—so seeing you like this was kind of. . .attractive? )

you hear armin and eren behind you, and you turn to ensure that it was in fact them.

by the time you turned back, an abnormal had come out of absolutely nowhere.

you shoot your anchors down, and slam into the roof, narrowly avoiding getting swallowed whole.

unfortunately, you end up tumbling down the side and into an alleyway.

“[y/n]!” armin called after you, giving chase and leaving eren behind.

he grit his teeth, “dammit!”

eren. . .well he goes berserk. and that’s when he gets his dumbass eaten

when he comes back as the attack titan—like you know it’s him , but his eyes were a dead giveaway. he was driven by instinct and you can see that.

then when you’re talking on the roof after pyxis bails you guys out , and eren isn’t the most verbal person , so he’ll probably just pat your head or something when he notices that you’re anxious

it worked , by the way.

SEASON TWO

there’s so many here oml ; okay so when he took back the wall and you were the first face he saw when he tore himself from the nape

“you did it, eren!” you look down at him with warm eyes, the dying light illuminating your skin.

on the brink of unconsciousness, he looked up at you, blinking slowly; his lips parted as he tried to say something.

his eyes trailed down to your lips, “you must be tired right?”

“rest. . .i’ll be here when you wake up”

ngl he was probably whipped atp, because how can he not be—when you looked like a literally goddess in that moment—like you know you were glowing because that golden hour lighting is ✨divine ✨on brown skin

and then when eren gets “arrested” and put on trial , he did actually shut up when he saw your face in the jury/audience

then the female titan appears; you probably weren’t with him , but did most likely follow mikasa to retrieve him with her and levi.

at which point , eren wakes up to find you and mikasa , but what made him smile was seeing that you had taking off your cloak for mikasa to use as blanket , and let her lay down on your lap while you took the uncomfortable seated position

“[y/n]?” he called to you; he almost thought you were awake from your seated position

when you didn’t respond, he noticed your closed eyes and the gentle rise and fall of your body.

jade eyes scanned your form, gentle fingers resting in the sea of ink that is mikasa’s hair

lips slightly parted, your hair was freshly washed and braided; evidence of your boredom while waiting for him to wake up—your face stained with tears from the devastating loss you suffered and yet,

you were so beautiful.

dumbass is still like “yeah she’s just one of the people i grew up with , that’s it—yep, stops there”

this happened earlier in the season/the end of season 1 but i forgot to put it until now , so the graduation ceremony and the “initiation” into the scouts

it’s a triumphant moment , but most of 104th regiment are terrified out of their mind

and so are you. . .

“you should’ve went to the garrison regiment if you were going to cry” he raised a brow at you

knowing that pretty much everyone in the show shits on the garrison, you took personal offense to that.

you snapped your head in his direction, body still stuck in the ‘salute’ position, “i’m not crying”

“i’m staying because want to be with you guys”

he blamed the humid night and hot uniform for the red in his face.

so when y’all went up into the mountains , and while you’re trying to enjoy everything , but you know reiner , bertholdt , and ymir’s betrayal is imminent.

unfortunately , you’d actually grown to care about those three—and you see them in a sympathetic light after knowing all of what they’ve been through—but you felt like shit.

you knew there was nothing you could do—not even mikasa could stop the two from kidnapping eren.

you snuck away to be alone with your thoughts, sitting down on an old dead tree. you sighed; you looked tired, resting your face in your hands

“[y/n].” he called to you, and you didn’t turn back—you knew it was him. he sat down next to you, and you guys were silent for like ten minutes

again , eren isn’t the most verbally affectionate person , so he’ll just kinda coax you into laying against his shoulder until he finally works up the nerve to ask you what was wrong

“[y/n], what—“

but he got interrupted when mikasa and armin finally found the two of you

inevitably , eren got kidnapped , but you and mikasa were on timing—and thanks to your knowledge of the episode , you lead the brigade to their exact location.

you also kept mikasa from getting her ribs crushed , which set off a chain reaction of things that didn’t happen

eren still discovered that he held the coordinate , though ; also thanks to you

“wait!” you stop mikasa from going for the kill, “eren has to be the one do it!” you gestured toward him

the way you looked at him , like you understood just how much it was true : it did have to be him

he was alone—rendered useless—feeling useless , and then you were there , looking at him with pure trust as you untied him from his bonds

“you can do it, eren” your eyes told him,

you single-handedly gave him the will to live in that moment and finally he started to realize how he felt.

now this is where reader and eren switch places in terms of being oblivious ; like you see how he acts around you but are in denial because you’re like “he likes mikasa—sure the confession scene didn’t happen , but that’s because mikasa wasn’t about to die—their feelings for each are the same as they were in the show”

SEASON THREE

there’s not really too much here , considering not a lot of the season until the end focuses on eren.

you two return from eren’s basement, an uncomfortable and painful distance wedged between you by the weight of eren’s presence—the youthful and determined glow to his eyes had faded due to the revelations he faced.

but while he was brewing on everything during the beach trip, his feelings for you became crystal clear , shining brightly in front of all his other thoughts.

SEASON FOUR

season four eren is not here to bullshit , so he’d have realized that he is in love with you by the time the scouts make it across the sea

he’s in the middle of pretending to listen to the others complain about sea sickness when he sees you, leaning against the railing silently watching the sea

you’d been through hell and back and had the weight of the world on your shoulders at this point so you were brewing on things just as much as eren was.

“hey.” he greeted dryly as he joined you, “hey.” you said, just as dry.

“what are you doing alone?”

“just reminiscing—“ your expression was blank but your mind was racing

back when you were a kid—when attack on titan was just a show, getting here seemed so simple—but now you’ve seen the toll war takes on someone.

you were just sixteen—you all were, it wasn’t fair—you’ve sacrificed so many of your friends—so many relationships for this.

if anyone deserved to be here, it’s not you.

“it’s not your fault.”

you blinked, turning to look at him—for a moment he looked like his old self as he stared at the horizon

Okay, I think I can hold my tears now talking about the end of Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan). So, let's get into it.

I really think Isayama build one of the best universe of all times. He had the final in mind all the time, that violence won't end, because it's within human nature. He developped everything with that in mind.

I think the first three season are important to know that Eren and the rest have been fighting all their f*cking life. He has seen how the titans broke into the walls, how they ate his mother alive, his father disappeared, he joined the army, they used him as a weapon, etc.

At the end of season three and during season fourth we get to know about outside the walls and the island. This is the most important thing. When they went outside (we got to see that trip), they saw how eldians are treated, how everyone see Paradis, as a menace to eliminate.

Eren then, realize that the only way for them to live is killing almost everyone, so they couldn't fight-back.

After this, Eren starts talking with Zeke to start a limited rumbling and make Ymir's people infertile, but Eren, at the end, didn't want that.

Zeke thinks Eren is so radical because of his father. He showed Eren Grisha's memories and Zeke learns that their father was so warming and care-giving with Eren and Carla.

We see when Grisha faces the Royal family and the idea they share, that Ymir's people should let others eliminate them in exchange for every life they have taken before. Eren was furious.

Zeke got to know the skills of the Attack Titan because his father didn't want to harm that people, he was a surgeon, he saved lives, but Eren used his memories of that moment to manipulate his father, he showed him how they were treated in Marley, what happened to them to increase his hate towards everything.

Grisha finally steals the Founding Titan and kills everyone except the father. He was crying because Eren didn't wanted to show him everything. Eren was using them. Grisha sees Zeke and starts to apologize for everything crying, he ends telling him "your plan won't come true, only Eren's plan will come true", he saw Eren's memories and he was really traumatised because of the massacre Eren will commit.

Zeke learns it's Eren's nature, Grisha had nothing to do with Eren's plan. He also told Zeke to stop Eren, but unfortunately for him, Eren offers Ymir to end it all because she can decide by herself, she needs to follow nobody's orders, so she decides to support Eren and chained up Zeke.

Ymir had an unlimited power. She was the first titan, the one that was touched by the hallucigenia. She was almost like a god, she was unstopable, but she obey Fritz orders because she truly loves him, but he never changed, when she sacrifices herself his words were "get up, my slave Ymir". She finally dies, but when Eren told her that she's not a goddess nor a slave, that she's just an ordinary woman and she can decide for herself, she decided to set free the Founding Titan powers and give all the control to Eren. Eren destroys the walls and set free the colossal titans to unleash the Rumbling.

Eren was the one that gave the directions and the orders in Paradis, but the one defending the Founding Titan and eliminating the menaces and the people was Ymir. We saw her when the titans of the walls step on those children.

He wanted to end it all how he told to Ymir. He made Connie, Mikasa, Jean, Armin and the rest fight him so they end it all and rise up as heroes. That's because he gave them freedom, to see which group will win.

Ymir used the Founding Titan to stop Armin, she almost killed everyone, they were at their limit. They used the coordinate to create an opening so they could end with Eren (including Ymir) and the Hallucigenia.

When everything ends we see that Eren used the Founding Titan powers to erase some memories when he met Armin and Mikasa to tell them his plan. Armin told Eren to live happily with Mikasa and confess his love and he starts crying because he's aware that he won't end up with the woman he loves, we realize that Eren has only 20 years.

Eren saw how they ate her mother alive when he was 10 years old. Eren joined the army at 13 and he has lived a war all his live. When he talks with Armin he cries because he's still a child, he never had the opportunity to live as a child. Eren can't handle the fact that he won't end up with Mikasa.

Despite the HUGE sacrifice Eren did, what we get with the last scenes that war is within human's nature. They won't stop fighting. Finally, Mikasa takes Eren's head to give him a funeral, Armin crying and screaming when he sees Eren's head devastated me.

I loved the universe Isayama created, he did It very well. I love that every character is different, they have something to bring on. I also heard that the anime and the manga of Shingeki no Kyojin lasted 13 years, the lifespan of a titan is 13 years, and I don't think is a coincidence. I give this a 10 out of 10, sue me.

Wandering Worlds Meta (Part III) - The Evanescent Tamaranean Empire 

Reminder that everything I'll write here only applies to My Fanfiction. Please for the love of GOD do not use this as some claim I'm making over the DC or the HBO Max's show canon.

Tamaran is a Monarchy of coalition, it means the Monarch's power is not absolute, as most monarchies go... But unlike, idk, the monarchies of Europe, because Tamaraneans are deeply emotional straight forward people, and because they have a Living Goddess; there is no pretence that the Monarch’s status comes from God.  

X'hal is alive, and well, living her best life and the Tamaraneans believe that when they die their life-energy will return to her. And by coalition, I mean there are various small kingdoms under the Great Monarch (Kory’s family, at the moment) they are closer to a democracy than an absolutist monarchy. 

For the last three generations the And'r House has been the Great Family House, the family that has been ruling over the small local Kingdoms, but it doesn't mean there has been many internal and external disputes.  

Tamaran is under constant attack from the Citatel and their Gordanian Mercenaries, they attack to capture prisoners for slave trade; and the Psions, enemies of the Citatel, a race of Scientists that like to capture other species to experiment on them until they die. 

In Wandering Worlds, unlike the New Teen Titans Comic Book, Kory's parents never exchanged her for peace with the Citatel, therefore, she was never sold to slavery. She was never experimented by Psions either, her powers are her own, there was never stealing of Kom’s powers. 

Kory's mission to kill the Raven and save the world from season one, was the mission that would make her ascend from Crown Princess to Queen, after that, she would marry and take over while her parents would step down. 

She was promised to the House of Arras, but not to Prince Karras, but his older brother Yarras. And Karras was supposed to marry Komand’r. Yarras died as a child of the same illness that handicapped Komand'r, Ga’ula.  

What is this sickness? It's a viral infection result of Psion experimentation that became pandemic, it’s the reason why Okaara perished and they had to move to Tamaran.  

Tamaraneans have the great ability of absorbing solar radiation and store it. This radiation is how a Tamarean feeds. They don’t need to eat everyday, nor to breath oxygen everyday, but they cannot go without sunlight for longer than three days. 

The radiation from the sun is metabolize and used to create starbolts, repair their own bodies super fast, to fly AND to absorb and share language through touch. 

Ga’ula damages the photoreceptors of the tamaranean skin, without being able to absorb sunlight the person dies of inanition.  

Depending of how much damage the virus does to the body, you can have someone with handicaps like Komand’r who has many issues in the high functions (her deficiency concerns the mostly the ability of absorbing and communicating using language) but has never been in danger of dying. Karras older brother was so ill, that he couldn’t even feed from the sun to keep his body functioning. When Yarras died, Kory became Karras promised. One of many reasons why Komand’r always felt like she only Kory’s hand-me-downs, and it didn’t help when after Karras became Kory’s fiancé, nobody cared to set a new match for Kom. 

When Kory failed to return to Tamaran, the Citatel used the fragility caused by the internal politics to finally invade Tamaran, they had been making small attacks for eons, but this was a frontal attack how they had never dared before. Whole cities were raided, and millions of tamaraneans were kidnapped and sold to slavery. 

With their heiress still lost, Myand’r and Luand’r tried to negotiate peace, the Citatel offered ten years of truce if they were handed Komand’r as a prize. The nobles and smaller kings and queens who had already lost their own children, pressed the House of And’r to take the deal since Kom was already damaged. When Kom found out, she murdered her own parents and tried to take over the planet, breaking the attempt of peace and drowning the Tamaran in civil wars. When things got really bad she went after Kory and season 3 and the plot of Wandering Worlds happened.

Summary: But what if no season 3 murder actually? (I just really miss Hank, okay?)

Warnings: suicidal thoughts, depression, drug use

Hank didn't even hesitate when Jason called him asking for help. He had initially intended to tell Dick and rally together the Titans to go find out what the hell was going on with the young man but Jason had sounded...so, so incredibly scared. It wasn't a question anymore whether or not he'd go help him on his own. Jason needed someone he could trust right now and apparently that person was Hank and Hank alone.

After three phone calls to separate burner phones at different locations Hank was frustrated. He knew why of course, Jason and Dick had both grown up with Batman, of course neither of them would ever trust the other not to track Hank's location when they wanted to stay hidden, but it was still fucking infuriating. At long last he found the abandoned apartment building and entered slowly, trying not to spook the distraught younger man.

"You here, kid, or are you still leading me around Gotham?" Hank asked, closing the door behind him and keeping an eye out for any movement. He wanted to trust Jason but he also knew that if he was on something he could get violent. He had to be ready.

A broken lamp flickered on in the corner of the dingy room, illuminating a trembling Jason. Even in the low light Hank could see the glassy, blown pupils. Hank stopped in the middle of the room with a sigh.

"Shit. You're looking kinda worse for wear," he commented. It was an understatement, the kid looked one wrong move away from a panic attack. Jason shoved his trembling hands in his hoodie pocket.

"I can't- I can't keep going like this," Jason said, voice breaking. "It's not fucking working anymore I- fuck, I just...can't make it stop."

"I know," Hank said gently, trying to soothe the teen. "Come on. Let's get you out of here, get you someplace where you can think easier."

Jason shook his head and began to back away. "No. No, fuck no, I'm not facing Dick like this-"

"Easy, kid, we don't have to go talk to Dick. We can go wherever, just get some fresh air to clear your head."

Jason shook his head again, running a hand through his dark curls damp with sweat. "God I...I should've stayed dead. I shouldn't fucking be here. What the fuck is wrong with me-"

"Hey, hey," Hank said, moving closer as Jason's words began to tumble out in a frantic stream. "It's okay. Take a breath, kid, I've got you. I'm not going to let anything happen to you, I promise."

Jason fumbled in his pocket for a moment before producing what looked like an inhaler. Hank didn't think he had asthma, or if he did he'd never shown or mentioned it before, but if it helped...

Hank regretted his decision not to ask about it when Jason took a hit off of it, his irises turning yellow from their normally vibrant blue-green for a moment.

"What is that?" Hank asked cautiously. He didn't want to spook the kid more but he needed to know what he was dealing with here.

Jason's voice sounded oddly calm and detached, hollow when he spoke again. "I synthesized a reverse of Scarecrow's fear toxin. This shit removes any fear I have whenever I want it to." He shot Hank a smug smirk before pocketing the inhaler again.

"Jesus, Jason," Hank muttered. This was worse than he'd thought, way worse. This wasn't some common street drug and he had no idea what to expect next with the younger man.

"What? You should be glad you made it this far," Jason commented, sounding like the cocky asshole Hank knew but also so very uncannily unlike himself at the same time. "I was gonna kill you, piss off ol' Dickie boy, let his whole damn Titans team tear itself apart."

The nonchalant way he said it made Hank's skin crawl and his temper flare but he pushed it down, trying to stay focused. This wasn't Jason, not really. "What changed your mind?"

Jason shrugged. "I can piss off Dick in other ways. You and Gar are the only ones who ever gave a shit about me, I've got plenty of other assholes to choose from on the team, don't I?"

"I'm not going to let you hurt any of them either, Jason," Hank said, voice hard.

"You're not going to let me?" Jason repeated with a bitter laugh. "You can't fucking stop me, the plan's already in motion. If you were smart, you and Gar would get the fuck out of Gotham."

"What plan? Jason, what did you do?" Hank demanded, moving closer to the younger man.

"Don't push your luck, Hawk," Jason sneered. "You're only alive right now because I changed my mind."

"What. Did. You. Do?" Hank repeated, enunciating each word.

"Get. Out. Of. Gotham." Jason mimicked with a mocking grin. "If you know what's fucking good for you."

With that, he brushed past Hank, leaving the older man seething in the middle of the abandoned apartment.

Medea Plays Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Part IV

Get ready for some of the most shocking things you’ll ever see in a Pokemon game.

Okay. I last left off at the end of all three routes. Well, near the end. It’s not over until you face several people in battle.

Clavell admits he was Clive the whole time. Even though, you can totally tell it was him all along and his disguise is on par with season 13 Team Rocket.

Clavell says he’s the real hacker and head of Team Star. You must now face him in battle. After the battle, he says he’s not really the head. And then gets in mucho trouble for battling in front of the school. Miss Tyme don’t play that. The real head of Team Star is really...

Oh hell no. Penny, you are not going all Slim Shady on me here.

What in the...whoa now! Penny, you’re a smart girl. You mean to tell me she doesn’t see Director Clavell standing right there in that bullshit pompadour.

After battling Penny and her all Eevee-lution team, she gets almost teary-eyed when disbanding Team Star and abandoning her friends.

But, they’re loyal to Penny. So they’re going to return to school. The school won’t expel the rebellious five. Penny might face some harsher consequences because...

Well...that happened. But thankfully, she wasn’t expelled and Geeta is going to use her skill for the benefit of the league. Now for the end of Victory Road.

Just face her in battle (again). And same for the end of the Titan storyline. Face Arven in battle. After you do all of that, time to finally visit the hellhole of Paldea.

For this mission, you will need Arven, Penny, and Nemona.

And they all get along like what you would expect. A geeky introvert, a battling nutjob, and Mommy issues put together in one room.

Bruh, you are not helping. Cyllene in Legends Arceus is sounding more positive than you right now.

I hope you enjoyed that musical interlude. I was really worried I had to use the controls on my console to get them down the crater.

We land and the professor identifies us in her...usual manner. Hey, she first identifies you in the game by saying your school ID number. You would think that was her quirkiness. But as you progress...it isn’t.

Koraidon refuses to leave his pokeball, so you have to go on foot. First, you have to go to all of these stations and press buttons to unlock the professor’s ultra-secret lab.

On the way to these stations, you run across these primal pokemon (or in Violet, futuristic).

Whoa, that ain’t no cute Jigglypuff. Yeah, these pokemon do attack. The ones that do attack you, you cannot catch. You’ll get your chance when you go down further.

In each station, you learn a little more involving the professor. Including that she has a time machine and that Koraidon is really a prehistoric form of Cyclizar. I guess that means Miraidon is the futuristic version.

And like in the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island, there are journals scattered about in each station. Geez Professor Crazy Bitch, that boy has a name. Once you get to the 4th station, things get crazier.

Yeah, there’s your biggest clue about Professor Crazy Bitch.

Oh come on, if you haven’t figured it out.

She’s a fucking robot.

We finally make it to her secret lab. But then, a stronger Koraidon intimidates your Koraidon. And now, a bunch of paradox pokemon have come out of the lab to fight you.

Thanks again, Professors Big N***a and Crazy Bitch.

Yes, that’s what I call the two professors. I stand by it. Now, you can finally meet the professor...sort of.

Yes, she’s a robot (or A.I.). The real Professor Crazy Bitch died while protecting Koraidon. Which is why the 4th station was a real shithole. She asks you for your assistance with stopping the time machine. She does warn you that she might go berserk and fight against you.

She wasn’t lying. Her whole team consists of powerful paradox pokemon.

Including Pokemon’s second attempt at giving us a member of KISS in pokemon form. You defeat Professor Crazy Bitch and then...

Don’t worry, it’s only going to continue to hurt.

And now you must fight against more-powerful Koraidon. None of your pokeballs will work. The professor is glitching. And the only option left is to let your Koraidon fight against this overgrown, mutant bicycle. After all of that, it’s time for the professor to sacrifice herself to the time machine.

And she’s gone. Arven has a whole lot to process with everything that has happened. We all do.

Stop!

Just stop. Nemona, read the fucking room. Arven’s parent is dead. We all watched this woman glitch out and disappear before our eyes. Calm your tits and shut up for a minute or two.

Now is when you get to the ending credits. And yes, they play the entire Ed Sheeran song, Celestial. So it wasn’t just a promo song for the advertisements, it got into the actual game. Good on you. After this part of the game, you finally obtain a Master Ball from Clavell. There are other uses for that ball later in this game. I’ll probably mess with that later, for now...

Thus, the Academy Ace Tournament was born.

Okay, Penny is officially my spirit animal.

Before the tournament can start, you have to help Geeta with gym inspections. And that means fighting all 8 gym leaders in a rematch.

Okay, now you can compete. After this first tournament, the setup will be random with who you will face. This time, you are set to face off against Geeta, Miss Dendra, Arven, and Mr. Jacq-strap.

This dude is always getting in trouble.

After all of that, you can do these post stories with the teachers and your friends.

Nurse Miriam is going to be a teacher next year.

Arven is going to be a cook.

Nemona is going to get horny off battling.

Larry is still Larry.

Penny, watches and encourages her Team Star buddies as they reemerge back onto school grounds. And once you get closer to your friends, they invite you back to their dorm room.

I think this is my last post for a while or if and when they decide to drop a DLC for this game. This game has been fun. Once you get past the glitches.

The many, many, many, many glitches. I’m not going to complain. As long as the game doesn’t crash or gets corrupted, I’m fine. I know that the glitches and bugs were a big drawback for many. I mean, if we’re paying $60 per game, you expect quality work. But Game Freak has been on strict time-crunches with the past several games and it shows. That’s why I’m usually lenient when it comes to this subject.

I’m enjoying the open world feature and I do love the stories that came out for this. I promise you that these games aren’t as intense as Legends Arceus when it comes to the pokemon themselves. That just means the pokemon don’t attack you physically. That’s never going to leave us now. Honestly, if you’re able to overlook the glitches, you’re going to have a fun time.

Two minutes in, and we already get to see this lion that Haggar apparently made Her plan is to manipulate the fuck out of Allura in her dreams, so this will be fun

The mice sleep in the chandelier in Allura's room, that's so cute

Allura fell asleep with her crown on, that's gotta be really uncomfy princess

Her nightmare starts off with her fighting and running from Drule troops before she gets hit and then sees her dead mom I can see the resemblance, also I can't tell if that's her crown or not but if it is then that's a cool design

I wonder if the braids mean something on Arus, Allura has similar braids when her hair is down but only like one strip of it Maybe it's her status of availability? For being courted and all

Ah it's Haggar as her mom telling her to look for that lion every time I look at her eyes Allura's mom looks so apathetic LMAO

Now she's woken up after hearing her dad's voice and is runs to a balcony as a weird lion hallucination is telling her to go into the woods Man I know that she's really missing her dad but the woods?? At this time of night?? DANGEROUS

Nanny sounds the alarms after she can't find Allura and is told she ran into the woods, but the guys don't think anything is wrong I feel like they should worry more especially because Coran and Nanny wouldn't dare let her out alone

Hunk complains about beauty sleep and Lance fucking murders him by telling him it'd never make him beautiful

Off to find the princess in their lions! Whose currently getting really cuddly with that white lion

Lance finds her and is just drilling into her goddamn Telling her how nuts the situation is but Allura is still thoroughly in the manipulation right now

And now he's tied up after the lion somehow roared rope on him, interesting power I guess

Pidge getting stuck in rope by the lion too is very unfortunate, now Keith and Hunk have to save THREE people Never mind make that four because now Keith is the only one left untied

Aaand Allura fainted again I'll let this one slide only because it's a lion fully roaring in her face, so I can understand that level of fear

And it's the lion's true form has been revealed, not too bad of a design but why do all the robeasts have chicken legs

This robeasts official name is Loathsome Lion, not too creative on this front. He has a fang katana, full-body titan armor, breastplate gatling rockets, and a razor fiber mane

oh hey they actually say its name in this episode! I thought these were named only in the 30th anniversary book

Lance is almost beheaded before Keith decides to reappear, it's one on one battle time

Oh shit a win for Nanny and Coran, they get into blue to try and save the team horrible flying mixed with Nanny being thrashed everywhere isn't good, she accidentally activates a water gun and washes away both Haggar AND the princess

Keith dives in the nearby river to go save Allura from drowning Nanny and Coran try to stop her from getting into blue but obvs she goes in anyway, apparently her uniform was in there too so good that she got a change of clothes at least

Oop Haggar is still manipulating her by flashing Allura's mother's face on the robeast as she tries to attack it and now she's caught, I don't blame her for this one that was a fucked up thing to see

Keith is also drilling into her saying that she needs to get it through her head as it's neither of her parents, I get it but also stop being rude when telling her the truth You can be blunt without being mean asshole

Robeast defeated, back to the castle for Allura to look at her mother's grave I wonder if only kings get put into tombs in the castle, or is Allura's mom not actually royalty and got buried outside because of that that'd be a source for Allura angst :0

Nanny says that she and Coran will take over blue for Allura after the danger she was in but Allura shoots that down and continues as a pilot

Episode end! This was a fun one actually, again I really do like it when the bad guys start acting smart, it really shows what they're capable of

Thanks to everyone who answered my first poll here, and to everyone who reposted mine. More than 150 responses, not too bad for a first go.

Well Sasha was the clear winner of the first poll, with almost half the vote it wasn't much of the contest. Historia was a distant second at just under 25%, and shockingly Petra Ral came in third at about 16%. Hange came fourth. Honestly in a poll about the nicest gals on Attack on Titan, I certainly would have expected a much closer outcome. Rather curious result, if I might say so.

Still, hats off to our favorite Potato Girl, a character who still deserves better. Sasha deserves the world, and then some 💕

But there's plenty of love to go around for all the girls. This page is supposed to be a haven for all of them. ❤️

Special mention to the lovely Caitlin Glass, the voice of Petra, for it was my meeting with her that inspired me to pursue this poll! Now for the next.......

I am only sticking with the ladies of Paradis for this, to me the first three seasons are what matter most. Not the fourth one. Curious to see who of these forgotten warriors will come out on top!

I went to bed really upset last night

I think there was a variety of factors that made me into a bit of an emotional mess after finishing attack on titan

Its like "its just an anime" or "its just a show"

Firstly, it was the anime/show that's been in my life the longest. 2013-2023. I associate a lot of my tumblr posts with the show. I called any character Kaji Yuki voiced in any other anime 'Eren' for fun. My time watching the first season is so vivid to me. I remember so much about analysing this show, and talking about it with friends.

Secondly, due to my OCD, the O stands for obsessive, and that connects to a lot of things, but its extremely hard to get me out of my Obsessive mode. I actually planned to make this rewatch last a couple of months. I was like "ah yeah Ive seen season 1 three or four times so its not gonna be that entertaining watching it again, I'll try watch a few a day". ...That didn't happen. I dont know why or how, but season 1 felt v different to me. I still got chills, I still got shocked when something happened, I would finish an ep and have the urge to scream from the adrenaline that went through me when something intense happened before a cliffhanger, almost as if I didnt know what was gonna happen next.

The reason I put off watching the show immediately after it ended is bc I'm aware this happens to me and its hard to get out of it. In my head I thought my obsessive nature wouldn't come around until I got to season 3 which I hadn't seen before and I thought I'd get to season 3 by mid-January. But from the absolute get-go, it kicked in, and from 7pm on the 21st of Dec to 4am on 26th of Dec, I binged the absolute fuck out of the show, taking breaks to do essential things like eat and shower. I barely slept.

So needless to say, I've only just come back to reality.

Third, I'm emotional af. Stories impact me on a really high scale, and I start to get stomach aches and chest pains bc of it. Esp if the story is magnificent. I finished that show last night and when I saw "The end", I was still crying, I hurt all over, and I just happened to be lucky that a friend who has seen it (and shockingly, doesn't watch anime) replied back to me and we talked about for a little bit. It helped to rant it out a bit but my sleep deprivation caused me to make so many typos and I officially had to sleep, which was hard, due to the chest pains.

And fourth, I believe what I just watched was perfection. To ever rewatch the show again, I'll see everything differently. Everything. The first 5 seconds of the show will be different. And when I'd had that realisation, I started crying again.

Like, I'm thinking of moments in the show that are literally just "characters swinging around and slashing titans" which is what the show was first known for, and now I'll be thinking "holy shit, these scenes have a bigger significance than you realise".

And for a show that's not about romance, the romantic tragedy that ties it all together, is what got me more than anything.

If this show gave off a vibe that the creator never knew where he was going with it, then I dont think it would be as impactful. As someone who loves Stranger Things, not everything ties up perfectly. And maybe the creators had an idea of their ending and then had to figure out how to get there, but it doesn't show. I've a feeling that by the end of that show, I'll be thinking that they ran through different drafts for their ending and finally settled on one and brought back a few tiny moments from the other seasons that ties it in and boom, done.

But almost every moment of attack on titan comes full circle, to the extreme point that I believe he wrote this whole thing out, almost every millimetre of it, and then released it at a specific pace up until recent years, and then obviously the anime adapted it. Yes he could have made slight changes along the way like "I originally wanted this character to say this line but changed it to this character cause it was more fitting" or something like that, but nothing that would really change anything about the direction he was heading with it.

Do I regret binging it? Yes, bc I have loads to do that I now have get stuck into with v little breaks (SnK was SUPPOSED to be my breaks), but also, mainly, bc I felt like I was there. Like when you're away from home for a month and you come back and everything feels weird and sorta wrong. So that's a learning lesson to myself. Never binge again.

Last time I did that was with Succession, but I'm just lucky that Obsessive mode kicked in about 20 eps in (so the first 20 I watched one a day), and so when Obsessive mode came in, it was for the second set of 20 episodes).

Unlike SnK where I watched almost 100 eps in 5 days :')))

Anway, I'll be thinking about this fucking show for a while, especially Eren. Especially Eren. He's just too complex, and I like to analyse, and that's some long analysation.

Also Mikasa and Levi impacted me too (Hange is my girl tho).

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I'm glad I wrote this out. My thoughts are going through my head way too fast for my typing to keep up so I've had to slow down my thoughts and so my breathing is a little better this time around lmao

I'ma miss this show, and I look forward to the day I rewatch it and take every speckle of the show in again. Knowing my ass, it'll be on my next break which is sooner than I'd like it to be, cause I know what my addictive obsessive ass is like. Ugh, I'm a wreck
