Ten euros for a brand new cable, one of the best available from Bol.com, and it only lasted less than a goddamn week.
I looked at the other options for sale there. Checked the reviews. The apparently best they have still has a ton of reviews saying it broke down soon enough. One of them blamed themselves and bought another that they were deliberately super careful with and it still wouldn't last.
Is it really that difficult to make and sell a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack cable that doesn't fucking break within days?

Foil Shielding: Provides basic protection against interference.
Braided Shielding: Offers better protection and durability compared to foil shielding.
Conductor Quality: The conductors inside the cable should be made of high-quality materials. Copper is a common choice, but there are different grades:
OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper): Reduces signal loss and improves sound quality.
Silver-Plated Copper: Offers even better conductivity but can be more expensive.
3. Cable Length
Consider Your Setup: Choose a cable length that fits your setup. Longer cables can lead to signal loss and potential interference. For most home audio setups, keep the cable length as short as possible while still allowing flexibility in your setup.
Avoid Excess Length: If you don’t need extra length, opt for a shorter cable. This helps maintain signal integrity and reduces clutter in your audio system.
4. Connector Quality
Check the Connectors: Quality connectors are essential for a solid connection and reliable performance. Look for connectors with:
Gold Plating: Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion and offer better conductivity.
Solid Construction: Ensure the connectors are sturdy and well-built to prevent damage over time.
Avoid Cheap Connectors: Cheap connectors can lead to signal loss and connection issues. Investing in high-quality connectors ensures better audio performance and longevity.
5. Durability and Build Quality
Cable Jacket: The outer jacket of the cable should be durable and flexible. Look for cables with a robust, flexible jacket that can withstand wear and tear.
Strain Relief: Good cables have strain relief at the connectors. This helps prevent damage to the cable where it connects to the plug, reducing the risk of breaking or fraying.
Brand Reputation: Consider brands known for their quality audio cables. Established brands often have rigorous quality control and offer better performance and durability.
6. Price vs. Performance
Balance Your Budget: While it’s important to invest in quality, you don’t need to spend a fortune. High-end cables can be pricey, but many mid-range options offer excellent performance without breaking the bank.
Avoid Overpaying: Be cautious of cables that are excessively priced for their features. Look for cables that balance cost and quality based on your specific needs. Choosing the right audio cable can significantly impact your listening experience. By visiting some professional audio shops like VIP PRO AUDIO in Brooklyn to understanding the type of cable you need, paying attention to materials and construction, and considering your setup, you can make an informed decision that enhances your audio quality. Invest in a quality cable that meets your needs, and enjoy clearer, more reliable sound from your audio equipment.

There are a lot of good arguments as to why we need to keep headphone jacks but tbh my main one is that wireless audio fucking sucks. Same reason I don't use wireless keyboards and mice for gaming, the cable allows for an elevated quality of expirience. Like yeah I can barely remember to charge my phone let alone anything else and bluetooth shit is more expensive but like I just. I want my music to sound good. I want my inputs to be fast. Wires are my friends.
#I can tell the difference between the audio quality of doing bluetooth to connect to my car and using an aux cable sorry not sorry#the aux cable fucking wins!

The Importance of Quality Cables and Connectors in Your Audio Setup
In the world of audio equipment, we often focus on the big-ticket items like speakers, amplifiers, and mixers. However, one crucial component that often gets overlooked is the quality of your cables and connectors. These seemingly simple items play a pivotal role in ensuring that your audio setup performs at its best. Let’s dive into why investing in high-quality cables and connectors is essential for any audio enthusiast.
Clear Sound Quality
The primary role of cables and connectors is to transmit audio signals from one piece of equipment to another. Poor-quality cables can introduce noise, static, and other unwanted sounds that degrade the overall audio experience. High-quality cables, on the other hand, ensure a clean and clear signal, preserving the integrity of your sound. Clear sound quality is a non-negotiable factor.
Durability and Longevity
High-quality cables and connectors are built to last. They are made with superior materials that can withstand wear and tear, reducing the risk of damage over time. Cheaper cables might save you money upfront, but they often need to be replaced more frequently, leading to higher long-term costs. Investing in durable cables means fewer replacements and consistent performance over the years.
Reliable Connections
In any audio setup, reliable connections are crucial. Loose or faulty connectors can lead to interruptions and poor sound quality. High-quality connectors fit snugly and securely, ensuring a stable connection that won’t easily come loose. This reliability is especially important during live performances or recording sessions, where any disruption can be a major issue.
Reduced Interference
Quality cables often come with shielding that protects against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. This shielding is essential for maintaining a clear signal, free from the hums and buzzes that can plague lower-quality cables. In environments with lots of electronic equipment, this interference protection becomes even more critical.
Flexibility and Usability
Premium cables are designed with flexibility in mind, making them easier to handle and manage in various setups. They often feature more pliable jackets and higher-quality insulation, which prevents tangling and makes them easier to coil and store. This usability can save time and frustration, particularly in complex setups or when equipment needs to be frequently moved.
Enhancing Overall Performance
Ultimately, the quality of your cables and connectors can impact the overall performance of your audio system. Even the best speakers or amplifiers can’t perform to their full potential if the signal they receive is compromised. By ensuring that every component in your signal chain is of high quality, you maximize the performance of your entire setup.
Practical Tips for Choosing Quality Cables and Connectors
Check Materials: Look for cables with oxygen-free copper conductors and connectors with gold-plated contacts for better conductivity and resistance to corrosion.
Consider Length: Use the shortest cables possible for your setup to minimize signal degradation. Long cables can lead to signal loss, so avoid excess length.
Look for Shielding: Ensure the cables have good shielding to protect against interference, especially if you’re in an environment with lots of electronic devices.
Check out in person : Visit some all in one Audio shops like VIP PRO AUDIO in person to check out different options.
Test the Fit: Make sure connectors fit snugly into your equipment without being too tight or too loose. A good fit ensures a reliable connection.
Don’t underestimate the importance of quality cables and connectors in your audio setup. They are the unsung heroes that ensure your equipment performs at its best, providing clear sound, reliable connections, and enhanced overall performance. Investing in high-quality cables and connectors might seem like a small detail, but it can make a world of difference in your audio experience. Remember, great sound starts with great connections!
