The interview with Cameron during D23 in Brazil about Avatar movies.

The big reveal is that Tulkun are his favorites.

He also talks about Windtraders and Ash Na'vi.

The Ash Na'vi tribe name is Mangkwan. Same as one mentioned in the Avatar: The Next Shadow comics (proving comics are indeed canon). Wiki has already merged the entries.

So the Ash Na'vi call themselves Ash People for the volcanic ash that destroyed their civilisation.

They resent Eywa and other Na'vi because they feel they were left to suffer alone. They are really ones that hate god for abandoning them. It makes sense when your god is real and it preaches we are all connected but when bad things happen you are all alone because Eywa doesn't interviene.

But then, of course, Eywa did interviene for Jake Sully. She helped Omatikaya against the invaders. The immune response still protects Halleluja Mountains. This must hurt even worse.

I could see how this would feel like such a injustice. Why Varang and Quaritch could ally themselves on this feeling of being wronged. Even if Quaritch was the one at fault and natural disasters aren't the same as alien invasion threatening the whole world.

And the other Na'vi preaching how they are all connected - where were they when Mangkwan needed them? All they do is send them their undesirables. Screw them too.

I can see why they would be interested in human tech and using it to fight the other Na'vi and not caring about laws of Eywa or the consequences for the word. I also see why RDA would love to use them for that. I expect it to go about as well as training Taliban did.

Chapter 9

Fandom: Avatar the Last Air Bender

Summary: Music night washes over Iroh. The crew’s attention  on each other means no one notices  their allegedly ill prince slipping over the side of the Wani and onto the dock.

Zuko, as The Blue Spirit, is leaving to meet another White Lotus Bud agent to exchange information on the Earth Armies for similar details on Fire Nation troops.

The White Lotus Buds are more successful than Iroh expected. Sometimes he thinks the war would end in days if they left the operatives in charge.

The White Lotus Buds were inspired by Zuko himself. It wasn’t difficult to connect The Blue Spirit’s earlier escapades with Zuko. Not once one realized there were connections to make.

Iroh does not know when the sneaking began, though he has his suspicions. Ten year old princes don’t go missing for days on end easily. And there’s the  ambiguity surrounding  Azulon’s death and Ursa’s sudden flight. When it started doesn’t truly matter when Zuko will not speak of it.

Shaking off his wandering curiosity, Iroh lets himself be drawn into the singing of an old sea shanty. It helps keep an old man awake, which he will need if he wants to be alert for his nephew’s return later that night.

The Wani is anchored just out of sight from the island to repair a mysteriously malfunctioning engine. Zuko would return the cotter pin he’d unceremoniously ripped out of the propeller shaft as soon as he stopped bleeding. It’s not like he’d vandalized his own ship out of malice. They couldn’t leave yet. The Blue Spirit had to make sure that Kyoshi Island’s allegiance to neutrality truly had been toppled by his own acts of destruction He just hadn’t expected the Kyoshi Warriors to react like a swarm of angry aardvark-bees. Despite the late hour they’d been in every nook and cranny of the island. Every time he thought he’d finally made it through their security forces he’d find yet another warrior or two defending another seemingly random crevice of the island.

But this is exactly why Spider saving Quaritch might end up being a net plus. Not only Spider being there with the Sullies stops Quartich himself from using exessive force but it also means Quaritch would want to stop RDA from doing it if Spider might be in the range. He's like a protection spell. And they don't even need to force him to help. He would do anything to stay with Kiri and Lo'ak and Tuk.

Try to abduct the Sully kids again? Can't do that, they got Spider.

Goad Jake into fighting one on one? They got Spider.

Find the Sullies location and bomb them from a distance? Still got Spider.

Jake's got Quaritch by the balls and he doesn't even have to do anything cause Spider will keep coming back to him as long as Quaritch is such a shitty person lmao

In my opinion there are two main types of world building.

Society world building and Environmental world building.

Society world building is, as you can imagine, focused around the society of the world where the story takes place in. It explores cultures and social hierarchy, religions and politics. Good examples of this are Avatart the last Airbender and A song of ice and fire.

Environmental world building is more focused on the natural part of the world surrounding it. It explores the world surrounding us that has not been touched by man or that has been built in a very strange way. Some exemples are the two Avatar Movies (The blue people), Scavengers, and How To Train Your Dragon.

Of course the two aren't isolated there can be a bit of one in the other but most of the time when creating a world, writers and creatives often focus more one one of the two.

For example A Song of Ice and Fire and How to Train Your Dragon both have dragons in it. But How to Train Your Dragon is heavily focused on how the dragons live, the differences between species and why they are unique, and how to better take care of them while respecting those specific differences. Meanwhile ASoIaF while it does have dragons, it has no real focus on them. Dragons are mostly a monolith in their existence, there are varieties of look and abilities but they aren't treated as different breeds or different types. Actually very little is talked and known about their biology and nature and what is known has a mostly folkloristic feeling, even the order of the Dragon-keepers when it was still in place it's not really specified on how they operated. On the other hand we know all about the different houses and the individual cultures of many communities across Westeros and Essos.

I loved this beautiful Avatar Fanart of the Norudy/Trudorm ship of the characters of Norm Spellman and Trudy Chacon together but above all because at the same time I imagine something similar if Norm had found himself in the battle but that at the same time he would have met his beloved Trudy who would have returned as a Recom of the RDA but had deserted during the battle and she would have met her beloved Norm but at the same time I would also have liked to see Trudy return in Avatar 2 but I still hope that she returns in Avatar 3 and be with her beloved Norm again and above all because I would have really liked the idea that we can see them together again in Avatar 3 even if Trudy is a Recom as the biological father of Spider Miles Quaritch and we see her reunite with her beloved Norm and see them finally have the happy ending that both really deserved in the first Avatar movie... sincerely
