"hey, hey, hey. you're okay. you're safe." a soft spoken voice rings through the sixteen year olds head; awaken from the horrors of her own mind. a pair of famliar hands held her wrists close to her chest; ensuring the young girls safety as well as the mother figure to her.
"you're going to be just fine. listen to my voice." again the voice spoken so soft; the young girl might've thought she'd died and entered into heaven. a pair of lips connected with her forehead, making the young girl breathe out as she opened her eyes.
her eyes were welcomed by a redheaded woman who wore a small yet worried smile. "hi, babygirl. glad you're back." natasha said, her voice heard with the struggles of holding back tears. the young smiled with her eyes closed.
"mama?"
a word held so dearly to natashas heart.
"yes, baby?" she responded back.
"hold me, mama?" the young girl said. sleepiness clearly heard in her voice.
"anything for you,
my sweet daughter."

Secret keeping is easy under pressure. Natasha has always thought so. If there’s something at stake, if telling that secret would put her or someone else in danger, it’s easy to keep it locked up and hidden. Safety, however, is a danger in itself. Before Clint, she could count on one hand the number of people she had ever trusted – and ‘trusted’ is a stretch. They were people she could almost certainly count on not to murder her in her sleep. But then Clint came along, and suddenly there was a pillar of constancy in her life, and she could rely on him for more than just having her back in a fight. The reward for his infinite patience is her complete trust. It still scares her sometimes.
Then came the team. Again, Natasha kept her secrets tight to her chest. She even pulled away from Clint for a time, terrified that he would somehow betray her. It has taken years for her to accept that this team is the only family she has ever known. Slowly, and without even realising it at first, she has come to trust them as fully and intimately as she trusts Clint.
Maybe that’s why she doesn’t think to contain herself. The team has been waiting for her return for six weeks, and she is surprised to realise, in the elevator up to the common floor of the complex, that she is excited to see them.
As the doors open, she can hear the chatter of voices. She steps out into the warmth of the plush lounge area where they have spent so many nights drinking and laughing, watching movies, or just talking until the small hours. She spies Steve first, sitting on the couch beside Bucky. Her vision is quickly blocked by Clint, who all but tackles her with a hug. Natasha folds into him, exhaling for what feels like the first time in a month and a half.
“Welcome home,” Clint says. Natasha feels the warmth of his chest, and there’s warmth in her own chest at the idea of home. Yes, this is home. Not the only home she’s ever known, but the safest and happiest place in her universe. She raises her head, and the glow of the place knocks any thought of discretion from her mind as she kisses him, right on the lips. She only stops when she feels his hands tense. Then, she remembers.
She pulls back sheepishly, hoping against hope that it was fast enough that no one saw. No such luck. Steve is frozen with a beer halfway to his lips. Bucky is staring. Tony, who Natasha has only just spotted, is leaning against the bench in the open kitchen, with Bruce standing opposite. Everyone is silent.
“Oops,” she mutters, and in her periphery she sees Clint trying to suppress a smile. Natasha untangles herself from Clint’s arms, and brushes herself off.
“Get me a beer?” she asks Clint. He nods, and does as he’s told. Without a word, Natasha drops her duffel bag by the door and heads for the couch opposite Steve and Bucky.
“How… uhm… how was the mission?” Steve asks. He’s blushing on her behalf, Natasha thinks. Her own cheeks remain their usual colour. She knows how to combat embarrassment.
“Good,” she says. “Textbook.”
Bucky opens his mouth, but is stopped by a quick elbow to the ribs from Steve. Clint returns from the kitchen with two beers, and hands her one. Natasha smiles politely.
“We were going to watch a movie,” Bruce says, hovering awkwardly in the kitchen.
“Sounds great,” she answers. She can tell Clint is barely suppressing laughter, and she resists the urge to kick him in the shins.
Bruce sets up the screens, and soon they are watching a light-hearted buddy cop film. Natasha can sense the eyes on her, and dutifully ignores them. About half an hour in, she rearranges herself so she’s leaning on Clint. He knows this routine, but they’ve never done it in front of anyone else. Nevertheless, he shifts so he can drape an arm around her. Aside from the accidental kiss earlier, this is the most intimate display they’ve ever made in front of the others, and it occurs to Natasha that maybe they didn’t know about the two of them. They’ve made jokes, sure, but she assumed from those jokes that they knew, or at least had their suspicions. It seems like they have surprised their team.
Natasha settles into Clint, and she is surprised to feel no embarrassment, no nerves. She feels content. She feels safe. Everyone knows now, and… it’s okay. She’s okay, and nothing much has changed.
Later, when they’re heading to bed, Natasha takes Clint’s hand. She knows Steve can see from behind her, and no doubt he’ll tell the others, but she doesn’t care anymore. These people are her family. She can be totally and unashamedly herself.
As she follows Clint into his room, she catches Steve’s eye as he passes. He smiles a reassuring smile, and she loves him for it, just like she loves the rest of the team. She closes the door with a smile of her own on her lips.

What Should We Name Her?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader. Avengers x Reader (platonic my dudes) Word Count: 2,600ish Warnings: This is just domestic fluff. Mentions of a spider I guess? Summary: Who knew that Bucky’s undoing would have eight legs. Prompts: “What should we name her?” and “Why does it always come back to this? I said I was sorry!”
Notes: For @cordytriestowrite writing challenge. I wrote this like at the start of this month and have been sitting on it for fucking ages, figured that even though it’s not up to my standard I should just post it anyway. So enjoy my first fic thingy.
Slow. That was the only way to describe the last few weeks. Fucking slow. Training had become monotonous, missions had run dry and even Tony was getting sick of his workshop. It was only natural for the team to take holidays, most already gone, only leaving yourself, Steve, Sam, Nat, Clint and Bucky in the compound.
Two weeks ago, there had been an idea to purchase a heap of board games and play them by none other than yourself, thinking it would be a fun way to pass the time, who knew that they would all be so competitive.
At first it was monopoly, who Natasha excelled, which surprised no one. Next it was Cluedo, a game that should have taken a lot longer than it did, but with three assassins playing it was really hard to keep the game going for longer than thirty minutes. Chess was next, leaving all of them reeling when Steve whooped their asses every damn time, same with Battleship. Twister had been fun, even though Nat’s ballet background gave her the upper hand. And then Clint had schooled them all in the Game of Life.
It was only when Risk Godstorm was played that Bucky finally managed to fool the two spies and obtain dominion over the world. That being said, he did ally with Clint for most of the game, so it wasn’t all him conquering the land. It finally came down to them and Steve big blue puppy eyes as Bucky peered down at his cards and then took a long draw of the Asgardian liquor that Thor had gifted them all.
Placing the cards on the table calmly he lifted his hands and smirked, the action sunk Atlantis which held a significant amount of Steve’s forces, but it was Clint who was screwed over, half of his armies sent to the after-life and the earth-shattering realisation that Bucky had been playing everyone the entire time.
Clint stood up immediately and left the room.
“You’ve gone and done it now.” Natasha said, her eyes falling on the game board.
Bucky shrugged, “I told him I was going to ally with him until I screwed Steve over and then it was fair game.”
Before anyone could respond Clint was marching back into the room with a red face and his hands flying, “I can’t believe it, I can’t fucking believe it! You couldn’t wait one turn!”
Steve and Sam had started laughing loudly, ugly snorting laughs that left them gasping for air and snot almost running out their noses. Even Nat was giggling quietly underneath her calm façade. Bucky’s smirk hadn’t left his face and he started to pack up the game, knowing he had won.
“It’s your own fault.”
“You’re horrible. Terrible. I’m never trusting you again!”
Bucky stopped for a second and peered at the angry blonde mess in front of him, “With board games or with everything?”
“We are never, ever playing Risk again. And I’m gonna make sure everyone knows what a backstabbing piece of shit you are!”
And then he was storming out of the room again, hands thrown up in the air, leaving the team laughing loudly and Bucky grinning like a mad man.
Risk had been banned from that moment in the compound, well only when Bucky and Clint were playing but the whole team decided it would be best to keep it out of any board game night in case the same would happen to anyone else.
And Clint sure hadn’t forgotten, not at all, not even when Bucky cooked him breakfast as a sorry, something that Bucky never did for anyone but Steve and you. Not when he constantly apologised and was extra polite when Clint was around. Not when he bought Clint an entire night’s worth of alcohol. Clint was punishing Bucky over a bloody board game and was holding it over his head no matter how nice Bucky had been since then.
He was fuming still, and it all came to a head on another board game night two weeks later.
Sitting around the large table they had all decreed was solely for board games, you had set up Settlers of Catan, smiling to yourself thinking that this game would probably cause as many problems as Risk did, only the rest assured you it would be fine, and that there had been a new rule instated that alliances had to be announced to the whole group when made. Talk about taking the fun out of games.
With he game set up, snacks ready and beers opened, with the exception of Asgardian liquor for Steve and Bucky, the only thing left was for Bucky to join the group for the game to get underway. He was notorious for being late on days where he had no responsibilities, preferring to spend more time in bed that should have been possible.
“Hurry the fuck up Buck!” Steve yelled from where he was sitting, knowing that Bucky’s hearing would pick it up.
It should have, because you had gone to wake the man up only half an hour ago with a light shake and a gentle kiss to the cheek. He had opened his eyes and smiled, his arms trying and failing to drag you into the bed with him, only to be met with a stern warning to be ready for game night or else.
There should have been a response, but after a minute there was silence, followed by a loud yelp that sounded suspiciously like Bucky, even though he would’ve insisted he makes no such sounds.
“What the hell?” Sam wondered, standing up and glancing in the direction of Bucky’s room.
A whimper came next and before anyone could say anything Steve was tearing down the hall towards the sound, the rest of the team hot on his heals, everyone except Clint.
“Aren’t you curious?” you asked, making your way out of the living room.
Clint, who had not only decided on alcohol but also coffee for the evening, lifted a whole damned coffee pot up to his lips and chugged the straight black liquid, responding only with a shaking head.
There were no other sounds that followed the whimper, and you made your way to the room, seeing the rest of the team entering just ahead of you.
Inside was Bucky who was pacing back and forth, his face white and his arm whirring dangerously, eyes firmly on a spot where the ceiling and the roof met and where an awfully furry and spindly creature was situated. A spider. It was only when he looked quickly around the room and his eyes fell on you that his pale face flushed with embarrassment.
Everyone’s eyes played ping pong between the most feared assassin of the last century and the spider smaller that the palm of his hand, unable to comprehend what they had just walked in on, and all that Sam and you could do was burst out laughing, having to lean on each other for support as to not fall down from the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.
Bucky had finally stopped pacing and was now standing with his fists clenched, “Can one of you please do something?” he squeaked out.
The sound of his voice just made you laugh harder and tears started to form in your eyes.
Behind both you and Sam, Nat had already started backing out of the room, her eyes flitting between Bucky and the spider, sharing a knowing look of discomfort. She stopped just outside the door and finally her body relaxed, and her face broke out into a small smile.
“Who knew you would be so afraid of something so small?
“Coming from the woman whose name is THE BLACK WIDOW” Sam chimed in, having finally regained his composure.
“I didn’t choose the name.”
“What should we name her?” you asked between laughs, gesturing up at the spider.
“How do you know it’s not a male?” Steve’s voice called out over the laughter.
“Patricia.” Sam said with a confirming nod, “I’m about 97% sure it’s a girl.”
You quirked a brow at Sam who just smirked, “Patricia it is.” You turned your attention and a waving finger to the spider, “Now Patricia, you’re not here to hurt poor Bucky are you, he couldn’t even hurt a fly…”
A soft thump brought everyone’s attention to the couch across the room where Bucky has sat, his head in his hands and knuckles white. A small, almost child-like voice filled with terror spoke one word, please and the jovial attitude stopped. Steve was already kneeling beside him and rubbing the poor guy’s back, urging him to take a few deep breaths.
Looking around to the others in the room, Nat was a clear no, already having removed herself from the room, and Sam was making his way towards her with a face that could only be described as fuck that. So, it was up to you to deal with this, great.
Two things caught your eye once it was silently decided that you would take care of the spider, a large glass next to Bucky’s bed and the Christmas card you had given to him only a few weeks before, and once those were in your hands and you were facing the spider with fierce determination that you hoped he would still want the card after all of this.
Throwing your head over your shoulder and back at the two men in the room, you smiled when you saw that Bucky was no longer rasping breaths but was instead watching you with both horror and curiosity in his eyes and Steve was standing with his hands on his hips.
“Want to give me a boost?” you asked Steve, holding the glass and card in your hand as if it were a clear explanation.
“I can do it” he offered his hands, about to take them away from you when you pulled your hands back and looked over at Bucky.
“Have you ever done this before?”
“No?”
“Then I’m doing it. Boost. Now.”
Steve hoisted you onto his shoulders without another word and moved you, so you were just a few inches from the spider. With you legs around his neck you had to stop yourself from recoiling at the sight of the thing, sure you were used to ones much bigger than this, but they were all so damn creepy looking with all their legs and hair, even the small ones. Beneath you though Steve did flinch, and you looked down at him only to find him glaring up at you.
“If it drops on me, I’m dropping you.”
The tone was accusing but behind it there was a hint of fun, you knew Steve wouldn’t drop you, not on purpose anyway. His smile afterwards definitely told you he was joking and behind you there was even a small laugh coming from Bucky, amused albeit nervous as hell.
After Steve had moved you both close enough that you could safely remove the menace, a flick of the wrist and the sliding of cardboard was all you needed for the spider to fall into the glass, Christmas card secured firmly over it.
You were turned around and facing Bucky who looked like he had just witnessed the first rain after a drought, and you waved the jar victoriously in the air. A bigger smile emerged on Bucky’s face and Steve relaxed under you, ducking down so he could help you off his shoulders while still keeping the spider under the card.
When your feet touched the ground, you peered at the glass and saw the spider had sat limply, not thrashing madly like most usually do, almost as if it were fake, and you would have believed it to if you hadn’t of been looking at the ugly thing so bloody closely and seeing it’s slight breathing.
From outside the door you heard both Sam and Nat whooping in victory, your eyes falling on the two only to notice another person had joined them, a dirty blonde who was now sporting a deviant smirk. Of fucking course.
“You guys found Patricia! I wondered where she got to!” Clint exclaimed.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!” Bucky groaned, storming towards the man who was clearly being blocked by Sam and Nat, were they in on this too?
“That.” Clint gestured to the spider still under the glass in your hands, “was for Risk.”
Bucky stopped dead and glared at Clint, “Why does it always come back to this? I said I was sorry!”
“Consider it payback.” Clint replied with a smile, sprinting off down the hall.
You felt Bucky run passed you, Nat and Sam parting so that he could take off after the archer, his face hardened with annoyance and anger but there was a look of fun under that and you all shook your heads at the two, at least Clint wouldn’t be acting like a petty little shit anymore.
The board game had been forgotten that night, some yells and expletives had come from different directions over the night, the result of Clint and Bucky wrestling, but no one checked on the two, they were just messing around like brothers now and that was something the rest of the team were all too used to.
It was only a few hours later when you were slowly falling asleep on the couch watching a movie when you felt Bucky’s strong arms come around your shoulders and his head rested on your shoulder, hair clearly knotted, and his clothes dishevelled from the rough housing.
“I never got to say thanks for saving me from that monster” he mumbled into your neck, his hot breath and lips tickling your neck.
Leaning into his touch you sighed, it was a new sensation for you, feeling Bucky touch you like this and openly displaying his affection and it brought butterflies to your stomach. His breathing was calm but underneath it you could hear the slightly fast beat of his heart.
“You’re welcome, couldn’t let it keep terrorising you.”
Bucky’s face left your neck and his arms were suddenly not around you anymore which caused you to whine softly at the lack of contact, but instead of leaving he had clambered over the couch, knocking you over slightly, and had settled in next to you.
“What did you do with it?” he asked, moving his arm around your fallen body and pulling you to his chest.
There was a mischievous smile on your face as you looked up at him and kissed him softly. His arm around you did not leave, instead he held you close, and he smiled against your lips. He could stay like this forever.
“HOLY SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK!”
Near screaming broke the two of you apart and you both swivelled to look down the hall towards the sounds. Bucky turned back and raised his eyebrows, only to be met with your mischievous smile once again.
“SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK! WHY IS IT IN MY BED?!”
Clint was stumbled into the room with a pale face, gone was the cocky attitude from before, now replaced with the same kind of terror Bucky was displayed only hours ago and the man beside you burst into laughter, a sound that was like music to your ears.
“Play with fire you’re gonna get burnt.” You shot Clint a sweet smile from the couch and he turned red.
“You two are absolute fucking menaces, you hear me, menaces!”
With that he had left the room, presumably to find someone to take care of poor Petunia who had found herself in Clint’s bed somehow.
Bucky’s lips were on your again, still laughing and mumbling something that sounded like my hero, but you were too preoccupied with his touch to respond.

Hello Lovelies.
I just wanted to check in. It's been so long since I've posted and I come back to so much support and 85 requests in my inbox. I just want to say I'm overwhelmed by the support of this blog.
I've been away because as some of you know my mother was battling colon cancer for over 5 years. In September she lost the battle and passed away surrounded by me, my brother and our closest family with a smile on her face. So I had left to spend my time with her and I've been using the past few months to try and get my life together. I still have so much left to figure out. My mother was the glue that held our family together. Not having her here has been so hard but I will be okay so please don't worry about me.
That's why I have been away but now that I'm gaining my footing in life again I do want to return to this blog and give you writings that will make you happy.
I was looking back at all the letters I did from the Turts to you all and I was smiling and had happy tears in my eyes. I wish the boys were real because I could've used that kind of comfort these past months, so I've decided I will continue to write to offer you all the comfort you need. I didn't post about what was going on here because I didn't want to make you all sad and bring down the positivity of this blog.
So this is my return post! I am coming back and bringing the boys with me! I will be working hard for you all on this blog, @avengersfluff and @animeficsandimagines. This blog will be my top priority along with my anime blog.
I love you all to the moon and back! Thank you for the support and love you are still giving me through my absence!

Broken 26
Broken: 26
The world continues to turn, even when you don’t feel like you are ready for it to happen. It had been that way when your mother passed, and it was that way now. The safety that having Steve and Peggy had brought came to an end. Steve and Peggy had obligations that needed to be met, and with the baby coming in a few short months they had things that they needed to prepare at their home.
Steve had broached the subject last night before he had left for the airport of you coming back home with them, said he and Peggy had plenty of room and that you could finish healing there away from everything. As much as you wanted to, you knew you had to stand on your own two feet now if you didn’t you felt like you never would. You had gently told him you appreciated it, but now wasn’t the right time.
Peggy had pulled you aside and reminded you that you were braver than you felt, and that if you needed anything not to hesitate to call her. She promised that she would keep Steve from worrying as much as she could.
You and Bucky stood on the porch side by side when they backed out of the driveway and waved. You thought that you had been inconspicuous when you wiped the tears from your eyes, but Bucky had wrapped his arm around your shoulder and squeezed for a moment before you both retreated inside Bucky locking the door behind you.
You let out a huff and pulled yourself out of Bed, with Steve and Peggy’s departure you still had a couple weeks off of work that you could take of FMLA, and your doctor thought that was a good idea but when Steve had left last night and you couldn’t cut your brain off you were thinking about the birth of the baby and you wanted to make sure that you would be able to have time to go see them when he or she made their grand entrance. You had planned to go in this morning and talk to HR.
You quickly completed your morning routine while throwing on your work clothes your bruises had faded, but your wrist was still cast. You would have to ask Bucky if you could borrow his car as yours was still sitting at Clint’s garage, he had told you that you wouldn’t be getting it back until he made sure it was in tip top shape, which you appreciated.
You made your way to the kitchen and Bucky was there standing in front of the coffee maker, and he turned as soon as he heard you. “Want a cup” he held up the mug he was holding.
“Please’ you smiled as you moved toward him, he had set his cup on the counter and got another one from the cabinet pouring the coffee and handing it to you.
You smiled as you took a sip, “Thank you, do you want breakfast” you ask Buky as you set your coffee mug on the counter and moved about pulling out what you needed for pancakes.
“Never turned down pancakes a day in my life” Bucky told you grinning. You gave him a small smile and quickly got to work making breakfast. Once everything was done and you both were seated at the table you broached the subject, “Bucky do you mind if I borrow the car to go by my work today” You ask him.
“Not at all, yours is still at Clint’s right” he ask and you nodded, then he paused thinking, “Actually I have a couple of errands that I needed to run today we could go together if you wanted maybe meet Nat and Clint for lunch”
“Yeah that is fine” You agreed.
“Let me get dressed, and we can head out then” Bucky pushed away from the table and headed back to the bedroom.
You stood up and started clearing the dishes as soon as he was done taking them to the sink and starting the water. You gathered the butter and syrup and put it in the fridge, as you heard Bucky call from down the hallway “Leave the dishes, I will do them when we get back”
You couldn’t help but look at the dishes and then where Bucky had retreated down the hallway, did he really mean it or was he testing you. You shook your head trying to get rid of those thoughts Bucky would never do that to you. Taking a deep breath, you walked out of the kitchen and took a seat on the couch waiting for Bucky.
“Ready Cricket” He ask, and you jumped “Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“I was just thinking” You told Bucky as you got up following him to the door.
“I’m going to go see Dr Banner at his office while you are speaking to HR if that is alright” Bucky ask.
“Yeah, its fine, I can walk down to Dr. Banner’s if I get done before you get back” You told him giving him a smile.
“I will actually leave the keys with you and walk myself that way if I am not done you can run any other errands you may have and I will call if that is ok” Bucky said as he pulled into a space at the call center you worked at.
“I really don’t mind” You started not wanting to put Bucky out.
“Let me have this Cricket, I don’t want you walking alone even if it is a couple of blocks ok” his voice washed over you.
“Ok” You agreed as you both got out, he stopped in front of you handing you the keys. “I will probably only take an hour, but you have your phone right” He ask. When you nodded, he headed to the sidewalk to make his way to Dr. Banner’s practice.
__
HR didn’t take as long as you thought it would. It was easy to negotiate a return to work date, if your doctor signed off on it. Which you didn’t think you would have that much of a problem if you explained it would help you to feel somewhat normal again. So, you made your way back to the parking lot, only stopping when Wanda called your name.
“Hey Wanda” You gave her a small smile.
“Are you coming back” Wanda ask as she looked you over.
“If the doctor will release me, I should be back on Monday” you told her.
“Oh, that will be great, to celebrate how would you like to go to the movies this Friday Night, Sam has made plans for a poker night that Clint is hosting, and I don’t want to sit at home alone” she ask.
“I need to” You started and then stopped yourself, “Yes Wanda I don’t have to ask anyone, and I would love to go. Do you mind if I invite Natasha?”
“That would be great” Wanda agreed, “I will text you later and we can finalize plans” She looked unsure for a moment before she gave you a quick hug. “I am glad your ok” she whispered as she went back to work you made your way outside unlocking the rental you got inside and headed toward Dr. Banner’s office. Bucky hadn’t texted you yet and you thought that you could kill two birds with one stone by asking for a release for work while you were waiting.
You were talking to the nurse when Bucky came from the back. “Everything ok?” he asks.
“Yeah, I was just asking Betty if she could ask Dr. Banner if he could sign my release, so I could go back to work Monday” you gave him a smile.
“And I will get the paperwork to him” Betty promised “It is good to see you”
You waved as she headed back to work. “Clint texted me” Bucky told you as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder as you were walking out, “He ask if we would meet him at May’s for lunch”
“Sounds good I haven’t been there in forever” you let a smile cross your face, remembering how many days you and Nat would skip school just to grab a bowl of her soup or home-made pie. You didn’t notice the patrol car sitting across the parking lot, Rollins leaning against it staring as you made your way to the car, but it didn’t escape Bucky’s notice.

“What are you doing?”
Tony gestures with his paintbrush. “Redecorating.”
Steve enters the room, and looks around. Brand new pieces of furniture are covered with plastic sheeting to protect them from the paint.
“What’s it for?” Steve asks. Tony seems to hesitate, and turns away to start rolling paint onto the wall before he answers.
“The kid. Don’t start,” Tony warns him, as he opens his mouth. “You’ve said your piece about teenagers in dangerous situations. He still needs somewhere to sleep when he comes to stay.”
“If he’s not on the team, why would he be staying?” Steve asks. His tone is innocent enough, but he clearly wants to hear something from Tony that Tony is not yet willing to say out loud.
“He’s a smart kid,” Tony shrugs. “Interested in R&D. Where better to learn, and learn from the best?”
“Right. You’re gonna… what, teach him?”
Tony nods. “Me and Banner.”
“Oh, you’re going to let Bruce in on it?”
Tony throws him a withering look. “I don’t have a monopoly on the genius kid, alright?”
“Really? Because every time I’ve seen him he’s been hanging off you like a puppy.”
Tony shrugs again. “Can’t blame him. I’m amazing.”
Steve shakes his head, and leaves Tony to the painting. It takes him the better part of the day to finish the walls and unwrap all the furniture. Then comes the fun part - setting up the tech, wiring in various systems, and decorating. Tony agonises for almost an hour over whether or not to put the framed photo of him and Peter on the mantle. Too sappy? He leaves it, convincing himself that it’ll make the kid happy and that’s the only reason.
It’s about a week before Peter gets a chance to come up to the facility. He’s on summer break, and his aunt has begrudgingly allowed him to stay for a few weeks on the strict proviso that he is not to do anything stupid, or let anyone else talk him into doing anything stupid, or encourage anyone to do anything stupid, and several other similar rules. May’s hesitation is only slightly curbed by an all-expenses paid trip to Aruba with Happy as personal security.
Peter tries not to think about any of that as he arrives at the facility. It’s breathtaking, and it’s still crazy to him that he’s been invited here. He did technically help save the world a couple of times, but still. Wow.
Tony meets him in the main foyer.
“Hey, Mr. Stark,” Peter chirps, waving as though he’s not the only one standing there with a duffel bag.
“Follow me,” he says.
Peter fills the silence on the way to wherever they’re going with chatter about his latest iteration of the web fluid, and how he’s had a few ideas for the suit, and by the time they arrive he’s forgotten they were walking with a purpose. They are standing inside a large room, furnished with a bed, a desk, and replete with all the tech Peter could want. It takes him a minute, but he turns to Tony with wide eyes.
“Is… is this my room?”
Tony nods. “Can’t have you staying in the guest rooms. The wifi’s atrocious.”
Peter, aware of Tony’s aversion to hugs, grins so wide his face starts to hurt, and drops his bag on the bed so he can race around and inspect every gadget and interface. When his hand lands on the framed photo of them, he stops, and picks it up.
“Thought you’d like that,” Tony says, his voice dismissive.
“You can actually have this back,” Peter says, passing it to him. Tony doesn’t let his face fall.
“Too homey for you?” he asks, a shade coolly.
“No, it’s just-” Peter pulls a notebook out of his bag, and rustles through it. He produces a print of the exact same photo, and rests it on the mantle. “There. So we’ve both got one.”
Tony just stares for a few moments.
“Mr. Stark?”
He blinks. “Yeah, kid?”
“I’m gonna hug you, if that’s okay.”
Tony’s instinct is to mock, and to reject, but that’s not what he wants. He looks over his shoulder to make sure Cap isn’t anywhere nearby, and then nods.
“Uh. Yeah, kid, that’s okay.”
Peter hugs him, and Tony hugs him back for a moment, and wonders what life would have been like if his dad had hugged him like this once in a while.
“Get settled, centre yourself,” he says, clearing his throat. “Dinner with the Avengers is in an hour. Try not to get too excited.”
“I’ll try my best, but maybe don’t get your hopes up,” Peter says. Tony smiles, and leaves the kid to settle in.

Natasha has access to every area of the facility, but her new habit of appearing in Tony’s lab without warning is still a strange phenomenon to him. They’ve been collaborating on new gear, a process which has mostly involved Natasha coming up with outlandish ideas (let’s put a holster here/I want three knives accessible at all times/how high can you get the voltage before a malfunction would kill me?) and Tony making as many as possible a reality. She seems to be enjoying these sessions, which he wouldn’t have guessed would be the case. Tony Stark is the most extroverted person on the planet, and though Natasha is a largely public figure these days, she’s still a private, and mostly quiet person.
“I’ve been thinking about the stingers,” she calls out, in lieu of an actual greeting. “I know they’re less bulky than they used to be, but they could still be more compact.”
“They’re part of the look though,” Tony replies. He doesn’t look up from the disassembled arm guard on the bench in front of him.
“I know,” she sighs. “Everyone’s Halloween costumes would be ruined.”
He huffs in amusement turns his focus to a circuit board on his left. He misses it on the first grab, and gets it on the second. Odd. He can feel Natasha scrutinising him.
“You look like death,” she tells him. “When did you last sleep?”
“Last night.”
“Well?”
“Well what?”
He doesn’t see her roll her eyes, but he can practically feel the expression. “Did you sleep well?”
“I never sleep well.”
“Me neither.”
He looks up. Natasha swims into focus after a moment.
“Is there a point to this conversation? Because I’m working.”
Blunt. Maybe she’ll leave him alone. He’s suddenly irritated by her closeness.
“Have you eaten today?”
That gives him pause. He looks up from the circuitry, and has to concentrate to remember when he was out of the lab last. “No. I don’t think so. Maybe at breakfast? Wait, no. I ate yesterday.”
She sighs. “How long have you been in here?”
“Spiritually? Since time began.”
“Actually?”
“Sometime early. Maybe five.”
Natasha reaches over and shuts off his lamp.
“I’m working on your dumb gauntlet idea,” he says, he can’t hide his exasperation. This was a vague notion she had a couple of days ago about backup power for the stingers. She doesn’t ask him that if the gauntlet idea is so dumb, why he’s working on it at all, which is fortunate, because Tony doesn’t have the excess energy to come up with a zinger, or even an excuse.
“Come on,” she says, motioning for him to follow her. “I can’t be the reason you starve to death. Steve made burritos for lunch, I’m pretty sure there are leftovers.”
“Mexican food? Doesn’t seem super patriotic.”
He gets up to follow her, but the floor suddenly stops obeying the laws of physics and starts to spin. He feels a rush of blood to his head, or maybe away from his head, he can’t remember which one is which. The spinning floor is rushing up to meet him, and everything spins away into blackness. From somewhere nearby his body, he feels the thump of the floor hitting his head, shoulder and knee, and then the weight of the rest of his body slumping onto the cool floor of the lab. Things drift in and out for what could be moments or hours, he’s not sure.
He comes to slowly. His legs are propped up on a chair, and his head is resting on- where is his head? He opens his eyes to find Natasha’s concerned face looking at him upside-down.
“You okay?” she asks. He blinks.
“Mm- yeah. Yes. Conscious.”
“I don’t think you hit your head,” she says. He becomes aware of the fact that her hands are on his head. In his hair. This is the most intimate position he’s ever been in with her. It feels simultaneously dangerous and kind of pleasant. Just for a moment, he feels a burst of warmth that she actually gives a shit if he’s okay. Then his unconquerable asshole tendencies come roaring back at full speed.
“My head’s on your lap,” he says. She scowls at him, and he manages a fuzzy grin. “Does this mean you don’t hate me after all?”
“I will knock you right out again, Stark.”
“You’re ruining a nice moment. It was kind of romantic.”
“Yeah, you fainting and dragging down half your toolbox on top of you was really sexy. Actually, hand me that hammer, I want to recreate the moment.”
“You can’t fool me,” he chuckles. “You care about me. Am I your friend?”
“Go to hell,” she instructs him, even as she helps him to his feet. She’s still cursing him quietly as she helps him walk to the elevator, and once she’s deposited him at the table in the kitchen, she flips him off.
“There,” she says, practically flinging a plate of microwaved burrito leftovers at him. “Eat. Let me know if you want me to set you an alarm for next time.”
“Don’t go,” he laughs, poking the warm burrito. “C’mon, I was just getting used to you looking after me. It was hot.”
“Get fucked, Stark.”
“See you tomorrow.”
She stalks off, and he laughs into his soggy Mexican leftovers. He’s already planning the adjustments to her stingers for tomorrow. She’s going to love them.

Warning Domestic Violence
The next couple of days didn’t give you much time to think. Between Bucky’s physical therapy, and your follow up appointments you had been busy. Steve didn’t seem to take his eyes off you, and neither did Bucky for that matter and you had to remind yourself to breathe as you knew they were just worried. They didn’t let you go out of the house without them. To be honest though your car was still at Clint’s shop and your keys were somewhere at Brock's. Steve had asked you multiple times if you wanted to go and get your stuff from Brock's and you kept putting it off. You didn’t know if he was released from jail or not, you hadn’t asked and you didn’t want to find out. If you kept yourself distracted you could pretend it was all a bad dream and that none of it was real.
Dr. Banner has recommended a therapist, and you had an appointment next week. Your bruising was still there but each day they faded blending with your skin. Your ribs and wrist were healing. Medically you wouldn’t be broken forever, but Dr. Banner as well as Steve, Peggy and Bucky all agreed that you should speak with a professional therapist. You couldn’t argue with their suggestion you knew you needed someone who was objective.
“Hey Cricket” Steve said coming into the living room causing you to jump, “Sorry I didn’t mean to startle you” he said softly.
“It’s ok Stevie I was just thinking” you gave him a small smile.
“I spoke with Lieutenant Coulson, about getting some of your stuff”
“Steve” you said softly.
“Cricket, hear me out. You may not want any reminders of what happened in that house, and I can understand that. But your purse and car keys are there if nothing else. If we don’t have to go through the trouble of replacing your Driver’s license and everything it will be easier on you.”
“I don’t want to go back there Steve” You told him softly, “Not right now”
“Lieutenant Coulson said he would accompany you personally as Rumlow is on leave while everything is under investigation and that he would make sure that he stayed outside while you gathered the things you need.”
“Please Steve” You know your voice sounded small.
Steve wanted to push you to do this, He knew he shouldn’t but he wanted to see you take the first step to break from that son of a bitch that dared to lay his hands on you. Looking at your face though he didn’t see you as you were now he saw the little girl who had been bullied on the playground sitting there that he knew he had to protect no matter the cost. You were his baby sister; his responsibility and he had failed to protect you. Steve dropped to his knees in front of you, tears falling down his face “I’m so sorry Cricket” his voice broke.
“Stevie” Your eyes went wide looking at him. You didn’t expect this reaction as you had looked at his face, the stubborn jut of his chin the look he got when he was gearing up for a fight that he didn’t intend to lose.
“I’m Sorry” he repeated just looking at you, “I should have protected you”
“Stevie, it’s not your fault” you put your hands on either side of his face, “You didn’t do this, you didn’t cause this none of it is your fault”
“It’s my job to protect you” he whispered.
“You couldn’t protect me, You didn’t know and Steve Rogers I will not have you blaming yourself for something that was not in your power to stop.”
“But”
“Steve, I didn’t tell you, I kept it from you. I could have told you, and I didn’t. You even ask the last time you had visited if I was sure that nothing was wrong. Stevie I’m an adult as much as you think it is your job to make sure everything is right in my world one thing Brock said was true. You were busy with your own family” Steve started to interrupt and you just shook your head no and smiled, “I know you care about me, I will always be your sister and you will always love me. Your focus should be on Peggy and my niece or nephew. I know I am important to you, but they come first and that is ok. You can’t blame yourself for this Stevie. It’s not your fault. You were here as soon as you found out. I don’t blame you and you need to stop blaming yourself”
“Cricket” Steve hugged you gently around the middle.
“Stevie, don’t ask there is nothing to forgive” You whispered returning the hug. You looked over his shoulder to see Peggy standing there in the doorway. You gave them both a small smile “Why don’t we pick this conversation up later.”
“Darling, Y/N” Peggy called and Steve turned his head to look at her, “Bucky just came home, and he brought lunch” Steve nodded and pulled himself to his feet. He held out his hand to you and you took it. Pulling you up gently he then wrapped his arm around your shoulders” Love you Y/N”
“Love you Stevie” you smiled at him, “Now let’s go and see what Bucky brought us for lunch” You gave him a push toward Peggy and he laughed the three of you making your way into the kitchen.
Steve pulled a chair out for Peggy and was whispering to her quietly as you came to stand beside Bucky. “Everything ok Peanut” he asks you as he opened on of the pizza boxes he brought home placing a couple of slices on a paper plate.
“Everything is going to be ok” You told him as he handed you a plate.
“Go sit, eat” Bucky told you as turned you gently toward the table after he gave you the plate, “Steve you have a seat as well I will bring it over”
“Why are you being so helpful Barnes” Peggy called from her spot at the table.
“Because I love you Peggy” He called back as he brought the pizza box over and sat it in the middle of the table, “And if you came over you would see that I hadn’t stashed my candy from you yet” He winked at her.
“I hope you intend to share” She gave him a smile, “Or I will have Steve keep you busy while I find it” She added.
Bucky turned and gave you a wink, “Ok ok, you can have the chocolate bar I brought home”
The four of you ate, Steve and Peggy talking about the upcoming birth and what was still left to do. Bucky leaned over and whispered, “I hid your favorites on top of the refrigerator”
“You are solidifying your spot as my hero Bucky” you smiled as he reaches over and gave your hand a squeeze. Neither of you saying anything else.
Once everyone finished you smiled as you stood along with Peggy putting your hand on hers as she started to clean up, “Let me” You told her.
“Y/N”
“Peggy, I need to start doing normal things again. I’m hurt yes, but I am not going to shatter. You guys have done so much for me, Let me do this”
She nodded as she took Steve’s hand, “Come on, let’s go pick something to watch or Bucky and Y/N will have us in another Star Wars marathon” Steve got up following her to the living room.
“You sure you don’t need any help” Bucky ask as you were closing one of the pizza boxes.
“It won’t take but a few minutes” You told him as you gathered up the plates and put them in the sink, “Go Buck, relax you had physical therapy today”
“I’m fine” He took the empty box and placed it beside the trash can he turned back to give you a good look, “Steve ask you about going back to your house to get your stuff didn’t he”
“How did”
“You both look lost” Bucky told you softly, “I know every look that Steve has, I’ve been best friends with him since we were in kindergarten, and I have watched you grow up I may not know every twitch like I do his, but I know that look. I’ve worn it a few times myself.”
“There is nothing in that house that matters to me” you told him softly, “Everything that means something is here, how pathetic is that I’ve been gone from here for over two years. When things started to get bad I just I couldn’t come back here. I felt like mom would be disappointed in me. But anything that really mattered has always been right here. What is at Brocks house is what he approved of. He didn’t like anything to remind me that I had been my own person once. He used things like that for punishment first. I had an album that Nat made me when we graduated, he ruined it when I ruined his dinner. After that anything that was important I would bring back here, well until I stopped coming here that is.” You let out a shaky breath, “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to unload on you”
“Never apologize for your feelings, we all love you” Bucky told you pulling you gently to him wrapping you in his arms, “If you don’t want to go back there, Steve and I can go with Coulson get your purse and car keys at the very least” You didn’t realize you were crying until Bucky turned your face up toward him wiping them gently with his thumbs. “How Natasha and I put up with you two I don’t know” He gave you a smile, “Guess that is why we butt heads so much, had to be made just as stubborn to remind both the rogers’ siblings that they don’t have to take the world on alone”

Disclaimer: Domestic violence.
You didn’t know if you were ready to face the real world again, sure it had only been two days but it somehow felt like a lifetime. Dr Cho had been in first thing that morning to clear you. At her insistence last night your brother had went home, which you were grateful for you need time to process that they didn’t hate you, and to be perfectly honest you still needed time.
You couldn’t help but ump when you heard a knock on the door, your brother stuck his head in “Morning Cricket” he gave you a smile.
“Stevie” you tried to give him a smile but grimaced when it hurt your lip, “You came alone” you questioned trying to look behind him to see if you could see Peggy.
“Pegs insisted she wanted to have lunch ready, and Bucky is trying to help” he chuckled making his way closer to your bed, “You ready?”
“Just waiting on the final paperwork” You informed him softly, “Sorry” you added quickly
“Y/N, what are you apologizing for” Steve takes your hand in his.
“I should have been ready when you got here” you told him.
“Cricket, we are on hospital time right now, nothing to be sorry for ok” He squeezed your hand and gave you another smile.
You nodded not trusting you voice and squeezed his hand back, “Steve,” You ask softly.
“hmmm” He ask looking down at you.
“Did you bring me anything to wear”. Steve swore and a giggle escaped you before you covered your mouth. “I’m sorry” you muttered again.
“Hey, Cricket no we just talked about this. It’s me that should be sorry, we talked about this last night, I just wanted you home where I can make sure you’re ok and was in a rush. I’ll run out and pick something up, maybe the gift shop will have something” he rubbed the back of his neck.
Just then Dr Cho walked in, “I brought your discharge papers, normally a nurse would but, “She trailed off looking at both you and Steve, “What is going on here” She leveled a glare at Steve to rival Peggy’s.
“I forgot her clothes” Steve sheepishly muttered.
“Oh well I am sure I can round up some scrubs,” She gave a smile, “It’s been a couple of rough days for all of you”
“Thank you” You softly reply giving her a small smile.
“before I do, we need to talk about your orders” Dr. Cho told you, “As we talked about earlier, I want you to take a week or two off work, follow up with your primary care, and we have set up an appointment with a bone and joint specialist for your wrist”
You nodded your head, and Steve took out a notepad from his jacket pocket, “What day is the appointment” Steve ask
“It’s all in the discharge papers Mr. Rogers, though I appreciate that you were listening” Dr Cho told him smiling.
“We will make sure she takes it easy” Steve told her honestly as he gave you another smile and you couldn’t help but feel stupid. How could Brock have gotten you to doubt him so easily.
“Now if you will excuse me, I will send a nurse in with a pair of scrubs and you can go home, and get some actual rest” Dr. Cho slipped from the room
“Pegs and I are sleeping in Ma’s room” Steve told you as he sat on the chair next to the bed, “Bucky insisted that he move to my room, so that you can have yours back”
“Bucky can stay in my room, he was settled, I can sleep in your old room” You quickly tell him not wanting to displace Bucky.
“Bucky really doesn’t mind” He told you and gave you another smile another knock and a nurse came in.
“Ms. Rogers, I brought you some scrubs to wear home, If you wouldn’t mind stepping out sir I will help you get changed” She smiled.
Steve gave you another smile, “I will be right outside” He told you as he stepped outside.
You took a deep breath once you were in the scrubs, You didn’t realize how much it would take out of you to just change your clothes. “Thank-you,” You told the nurse.
“Not a problem, Ms. Rogers and if you are ready I have the wheel chair waiting we can roll you out”
“I think I will be ok to walk” You told her, dreading it but wanting to make your own way out of the hospital.
“Sorry Hospital policy” she told you as she moved the wheelchair toward you so that you could sit down. She made quick time getting to the door and opening it, “Mr. Rogers if you wouldn’t mind bringing your car around I will wheel your sister out” she told him as she passed him. You watched as Steve nodded and took off toward the exit.
You had your head down playing with your hands as she wheeled you out of the hospital exit and put the parking break on the chair. You noticed someone came to a stop beside your chair and you looked up biting your lip and hissing as you noticed an officer standing there.
“I’m sorry I startled you Ma’am” he gave you a gentle smile as he bent down to your height, “Director Fury had an officer outside your door while you were here just for safety precautions” When you didn’t say anything he gave you another smile, “I’m sorry if I make you uncomfortable”
“No, No its fine” you softly tell him, “I was just surprised is all”
“Lieutenant Coulson takes his job very seriously, he is in charge of your case. If it makes you feel better it has only been myself and another officer, I relieved him this morning, Officer Dugan at your service, most everyone calls me Dum Dum”
“Dum Dum” You ask flabbergasted, and he gave you a smile, “Do people really call you Dum Dum, or are you just trying to seem less intimidating”
“Well my friends really call me Dum Dum, but if it makes you feel better” He shrugged as you saw Steve jump out of a car, that you knew was a rental.
“Let’s go home Cricket” Steve told you as he held out his hands to help you out of your wheelchair. You took them and let out a groan as you stood and Steve started to fuss over you.
“Steve I’m ok just sore” You assured him as you got settled into the car. You gave a small wave to Dum Dum who nodded as Steve pulled onto the main highway.
It seemed that you and Steve spent the car ride in silence neither knowing what to say, “You want me to drop you off before I go and fill your prescriptions” Steve finally broke the silence.
“You could always drop them off, and we can come back and get them later” You told him, “or I really don’t mind waiting”
Steve nodded and turned toward the pharmacy, going through the drive through and dropping off your prescription, you were looking out the window and tensed as you saw a patrol car pull into the pharmacy parking lot and Rollins step out. Steve noticed you tense out of the corner of his eye and turned to look at you. “Everything ok” He ask you softly and when you didn’t respond he turned and looked at the pharmacy clerk, “We will be picking this up in a bit” he put the car in drive and pulled out of the parking lot, “Cricket, what happened back there”
“Rollins” You whispered.
“Who” he questioned as he looked at you quickly before looking back at the road.
“Brocks best friend” You supplied.
“Cricket, I’m going to keep you safe” He told you as he pulled on the road that lead to home.
When Steve pulled into the driveway you let out a relieved sigh glad to see only Bucky’s rental in the driveway. You know Nat had said that she would be seeing you today, but you just wanted a moment to collect yourself before you felt you had to put on a brave front. Before you could even get your door open it was opened for you, you jumped a little in surprise as Steve was still in the car, “Sorry” Bucky said giving you a warm smile, “Pegs threw me out of the kitchen a half hour ago and I have been waiting on the porch ever since” You couldn’t help but laugh, Bucky and Steve tried in the kitchen they really did, but something always ended up going wrong. “There she is” Bucky told you softly.
“Huh” you gave him a quizzical look.
“nothing” he blushed as he held his arms out to help you from the car, “Maybe if I help you in Pegs will let us sneak the cookies she is baking” he whispered to you.
“I heard that Barnes” You heard Peggy shout from inside the house.
“Steve, are you sure your wife is human how did she hear that” Bucky gave Steve a look.
Steve shrugged his shoulders, “I think it is a super power all women get when they become mothers”
“Steve” Peggy called, “Come help me get the plates on the table”
“Duty calls” Steve tells you both seriously and you give him a genuine smile
“Go help Pegs” Bucky pushes Steve “I’ve got our precious cargo”
“Bucky” you blush and he just smiles helping you into the house.
“How is the arm” You ask him as you both toe off your shoes.
“Its fine, I have my first round of PT tomorrow, but less about me, more about you, did you bring your discharge orders home”
“Steve has them” You told him as you both made your way toward the living room.
“Barnes, kitchen table” Peggy called, “Y/N dear lunch is ready”
“I’m her favorite” Bucky told you with grin.
“I can tell” you laughed as changed course and took a seat at the kitchen table, “Peggy it looks wonderful”
“Hospital food does no good for recovery, I thought a couple of your favorites should help”
“You shouldn’t have gone to all this trouble for me, a sandwich would have been ok”
“Nonsense dear” Peggy told you, “Once we eat the boys can do the dishes and we can relax and I will catch you up on all the antics of Steve and Bucky you have missed”
“Pegs” Steve and Bucky start.
“Boys its isn’t like I was going to tell about how you both cried when you saw the first ultrasound picture” she gave a charming smile.

Triggers: Domestic Violence, Minor Cursing
Steve paced the lobby for what felt like the 100th time. He had paid Bucky’s bond an hour ago and had been assured that it wouldn’t take long for him to be released into his custody. He muttered under his breath as he turned crushed the plastic water cup in his hand and made his way to toss it in the trash bin when the doors opened, and Bucky walked out.
“Punk” Bucky greeted
“Jerk” Steve sighed, “You feel ok?” he asks glancing at the arm.
“It will be fine, Physical therapist may grumble about me using it like I did though.” Bucky shrugged, “But Stark will fix the arm if I have any lasting damage.”
“Let’s get out of here” Steve told him as they both headed to the doors, “I was given what you came in with” Steve added.
Bucky nodded, “Then where is it”
“already in the car They had me waiting forever”
Once the men made it to the car, Steve slid behind the wheel and Bucky in the passenger’s side, Bucky turned to him, “How is Y/N?” He asks
“Concussion, her left wrist is broken and two of her left ribs both sides are bruised. Dr Cho. Says she is lucky” Steve told him as he headed back toward his mom’s house.
“Hospital is the other way” Bucky reminded Steve.
“I know, but I figured you’d like to go home shower, change clothes. Maybe take your medication I can go back to the hospital once I drop you off”
“I don’t think so Pal, I gotta check on her with my own eyes, I would have been at the hospital with her had that bastard not showed up” Bucky seethed.
“Thank you, Bucky,” Steve told him softly as he pulled into the driveway, “I don’t want to think about what would have happened if you hadn’t shown up”
“Steve, you both are family, I would do anything for either of you” Bucky shrugged him off as he stepped out of the car, “Besides its really Nat that you should be thanking, she practically forced me to go snoop around”
Steve nodded as he grabbed his and Peggy’s bag from the car as they had come straight to the hospital from the airport. “Let’s get you inside and cleaned up and then we can head to the hospital”
Twenty minutes later Steve and Bucky were back in the car headed toward the hospital. Bucky was bouncing his leg up and down as Steve was trying to find a parking spot. “Damn people don’t know how to park” Steve muttered under his breath as he finally found one and squeezed the car in, “Hey Buck you ok” Steve ask
“Fine” Bucky told him getting out of the car and heading toward the doors, “I just what if she blames me”
“For what” Steve questioned as they made their way inside.
“If she hadn’t came with me to New York” Bucky started.
“Then she wouldn’t have done something else and the asshole would still have gotten angry, this isn’t her fault and it isn’t yours the blame lies with the asshole who decided that it was ok to put his hand on someone in anger” Steve ground out looking at Bucky, “Hell Buck you’re a doctor I am sure you went over scenarios like this in classes you know this”
“It just hits close to home” Bucky mumbled as he followed Steve to Y/N room. Steve nodded to the officer standing outside of Y/N room and opened the door slowly.
“Shh” Peggy told the men putting her hands to her lips as she looked back down to the cards she was holding “Flush Barton” She smiled. Clint groaned and tossed his cards on the middle of the tray that normally would be stationed by the hospital bed.
“Why didn’t you tell me your wife was a card shark Rogers” Clint stared at Steve accusing.
“Barton, my Pegs is good at most things you knew that” Steve let out a soft chuckle as he looked at the bed where his sister and her best friend lay curled up together snoozing.
“They gave Y/N pain medicine about 30 minutes ago, when we came back from getting coffee Nat was asleep I ask Y/N if she wanted me to move her and she said no. Once she had her meds she conked out to” Clint explained.
“God they both look so young” Steve muttered, “It takes me back to their sleepovers only you know less noise first”
“ah the boy bands, it was horrible” Bucky agreed.
“Glad they sprung you man” Clint said standing up and giving Bucky a side hug, “Sorry I didn’t realize something was off”
“Not your fault Clint” Bucky nodded as he moved over toward Peggy, “Hey Doll” He said kissing her cheek “How is my favorite niece doing in there” he ask laying a hand on her rounded belly.
“Your Nephew is just fine” Peggy told him with a small smile, “And Y/N is strong, she will be fine “She said just as softly.
“I know, Rogers’ are stubborn by nature” he agreed as he leaned up against the wall glancing at the hospital bed, “Sometimes we just have to remind them they don’t have to fight the world alone”
__
You weren’t sure how much time had passed since Peggy and Clint had come back from getting coffee. You knew you had dozed off right after the nurse administered your medication. Your eyes were still shut but you could hear the medical equipment and a television in the background was that wheel of fortune you thought.
“Yes it is Peanut” You heard and your eyes popped open.
“Huh, Bucky your ok” you ask softly as you looked over at him where he was sitting next to the bed.
“Takes more than that to keep me down” He told you smiling, “And you ask if it was wheel of fortune” You could feel your cheeks burn, you didn’t mean to say it out loud. You glanced around the hospital room before looking back at Bucky.
“Steve, Peggy, Nat and Clint all went to grab something for Dinner. Steve is trying to convince Peggy to let him drop her off at the house and Natasha and Clint said that they would be back tomorrow to see you” Bucky supplied giving you a small smile, “They brought you dinner and it looks edible” He stated moving the tray over for you to inspect and when you wrinkled your nose he laughed a little, “Better than MRE’s “
“That could be questionable” You told him softly, as he arranged the table over your bed.
“Want me to set you up” He ask as he went to push the button.
“I got it” You told him as you adjusted the bed only grimacing slightly. Once you were sat up he handed you a fork and took the lid back off the meal they brought you, you picked at it moving peas around with your fork, “Bucky I’m sorry”
“For what Peanut” he ask as he watched you stab a carrot.
“If I would have listened, you wouldn’t have gotten arrested.” You explained.
“ Y/N look at me” Bucky said softly bending down beside your bed, “You did nothing wrong at all, do you hear me I don’t care how many times I have to tell you, remind you, You did nothing to deserve what happened to you. Brock is a coward”
“But”
“No Buts Y/N, now eat up so you get some strength back and when your sprung out of here Steve and I will barbeque ribs”
“Why did you have to mention ribs Bucky” you whined but couldn’t help the small smile.
“Cause you and I know it is the only thing we can really cook, and it is encouragement” Bucky laughed nodding at your plate of hospital food.

New TMNT blog....
Sup tumblr! I made a new blog that’s completely dedicated to our favorite turtles. I’m looking for friends and love discussing everything related to the fearsome four. Guess I’ll start by introducing myself, I’m Cat, a spirited young spring chicken that enjoys a little bit of everything. I’m a music and art fanatic and complete movie buff. I got into the turtles at a very young age cause my older brother was obsessed with them. I don’t really have a favorite turtle, as a young sprout of a lass I remember Mikey was my main man cause I loved pizza and fun and so did he, we were a perfect match in my mind. Teen years I drifted more towards the rebel Raph, let me be honest, I can be very hot headed. Then came the long and amazing Leo phase. Who doesn’t love the tough yet caring leader? Now I’m that I’m older I really seem to be more of a Donnie gal. Now that boring part is out of the way. I'll get to posting pics, writing fics and other things. If you follow me I will follow back but it'll be from my main blog that's Marvel centric. 👉 @avengersfluff 👈 Since Tumblr won't let you follow folks from your secondary blogs. Anyways....hi TMNT fandom.

Broken 20
Broken 20
Warning: Domestic Violence
The door opened and a no nonsense brunette stepped into the room turning her head, “Steve come along” she called over her shoulder before she turned back and looked at both Lieutenant Coulson and Dr. Cho, “Good Evening, I’m Margret Rogers” She said reaching her hand out first to the Dr who shook it politely and then Lieutenant Coulson, “I hope you have the coward locked up that is responsible for this” she raised her eyebrow.
“Ms. Rogers,” Lieutenant Coulson said, “I am not at liberty to discuss the case with you at this time”
You were busy trying to scoot down in your bed as far as you could, you didn’t want to see the disappointment on Peggy or Steve’s faces. Before Peggy could respond to Coulson’s statement Steve stepped into the doorway, “Pegs, let’s not question the authorities right away” and when she gave him a look he rubbed the back of his neck, “Well at least not until we know what is going on”
“Better Rogers” she told him as she stepped around Dr. Cho and went to stand by the bed, “No hiding dear I know your there” She told you in a cheery tone.
“Sorry about that” Steve told Lieutenant Coulson and Dr Cho, “I’m Steve Rogers” he shook both of their hands.
“Dr. Cho, I’m that attending physician for your sister”
“Lieutenant Phil Coulson”
“Pleasure, again sorry about Pegs, it’s how she handles stressful situations” Steve told them, “But if you excuse me I need to check on Cricket” he also stepped around the two and made his way over to the bed, “Cricket” Steve said approaching the bed.
“Hey” You said softly looking anywhere but their faces.
“Cricket, look at me” Steve told you softly and you turned your face toward him trying to hold back your tears.
“I’m so sorry” You said softly, “I didn’t tell them to call you. I didn’t want them to bother you”
“Y/N” Peggy gave you a small smile, “No matter what that bastard may have told you, you are not a bother to us, understand me. I am not angry at you and neither is Steve”
“But” you started.
“Y/N, you’re my baby sister, none of this is your fault. I wish I would have realized something was wrong when I was last here. I should have known if I am mad at anyone other than Brock I am mad at myself, Bucky said he thought something wasn’t right”
“Steve, Bucky” you let your tears fall then, “They arrested Bucky”
“What” Both Steve and Peggy had shocked looks.
“Brock told them he assaulted me, and that he came home to find him, and they arrested him” Dr. Cho came to your bedside when the heart monitor started beeping.
“I need to ask you not to upset my patient” She said her eyes narrow, “She needs her rest”
“If anyone is upsetting your patient it is that no account” Peggy started, and Steve laid a hand on her arm.
“Peggy, what did the doctor say about your blood pressure” He reminded her gently placing his other hand on the baby bump, “Dr. Cho is right, we all need to remain calm in this situation, you because it’s what is best for you and the baby, Cricket because she is healing”
“Is everything ok with you and the baby” you ask Peggy softly; your mind was racing you didn’t want to be the cause of your niece or nephews distress.
“Everything is fine dear, the doctor just suggested that I may want to keep my blood pressure down” she smiled as she patted your knee that was under the blanket.
“Peggy was training new recruits, when one made a snide remark she laid him out, but her blood pressure spiked” Steve faux whispered to you.
“Steve, I did not lay out any of my cadets” Peggy admonished, “I just helped him see the error of his ways”
Steve grinned at your, “That’s our Pegs” he couldn’t help but chuckle. You started to laugh as well, but them grimaced at the pain. “Cricket, anything I can do” Steve frowned.
“I’m ok” You told him softly, “But Bucky, Steve you have to go get Bucky he just had surgery he needs his medicine”
“Cricket, I will see what I can do, but first I would like to hear from the Doctor about you” Steve told you softly, as he turned toward Dr. Cho, and only with you had nodded at her did she speak.
“As I was telling Y/N earlier, her left wrist is broken, along with two ribs on her left side. Both sides of her ribs are bruised and she has suffered a concussion. She is very lucky she was found when she was and that there are no other injuries” Dr. Cho told both Peggy and Steve.
“How long will she need to stay in the hospital” Peggy ask.
“I would like her to stay at least tonight and evaluate her then, for observation.” Dr. Cho said, “Then I will release her under the care of her regular physician, and recommend that she also follow up with counseling.”
“Thank-you” Steve told her sincerely.
“If you will excuse me, please try not to upset my patient, I will not hesitate to have you thrown out” She warned as she left the hospital room.
“You guys don’t have to stay” You told them softly playing with the blanket with your right hand. You bit your lip and let out a hiss.
“Of course, we are staying” Peggy said just as softly, “Your family and we love you”
“But” you started.
“no buts Cricket, there is no one that means more to me that you, Peggy, and the baby. We are staying right here for as long as you need us”
“But Bucky” you ask.
“Well ok I am going to go see if I can spring Bucky, but other than that you won’t be able to get rid of me” Steve told you as he smiled.
“Ok” you gave him a watery smile.
“Now I am going to leave Pegs here, head down to the station and then I will be back is there anything you need” he asks as he leaned down and kissed the top of your head.
“No” you told him.
“Ok, I will also let Nat know what is going on she is in the lobby, along with Clint. Would you like to see her” Steve ask you?
You nodded, not wanting to cry.
“Ok” Steve smiled again, “You good here Pegs”
“I’ll be fine Steve” she told him as she took a seat in the recliner, “Y/N and I will watch bad daytime television”
Steve made his way out of the room, nodding his head at the officer that was standing outside of it. He walked toward the lobby where he had met Nat and Clint when he first got there. “How is she Steve” Natasha ask as soon as she saw him around the corner.
“She is awake, she would like to see you” Steve told her, “Nat be gentle, she God I’ve never seen her look so small”
“Of course, I will be, what do you take me for Rogers” Natasha growled.
“I just, Natasha how did I miss this” He ask her, and Clint clapped him on the shoulder.
“Listen man, we all missed it. We can’t go back in time and we can’t spare her any pain that she has went through. What we can do is support her, build back up what was broken and remind her that it wasn’t her fault and most importantly we can all love her” Clint said.
“When did you become wise” Steve ask raising an eyebrow.
“I’ve always been wise, but no one listened until I started dating Natasha, I blame the fact that she is scary and no one wants to make her angry” Clint shrugged, as Natasha shoved him. “See what I mean” Clint called over his shoulder as Natasha pushed him out of the room toward your hospital room.
Steve shook his head as he headed out of the hospital and to his rental car to see what he could do about Bucky.
__
You took a deep breath, grimacing as it hurt to breathe when you heard the soft knock on the door. Natasha stuck her head in followed by Clint. “Come in” Peggy called from the chair when she noticed that you just sat there.
She stood up and made her way over to both Clint and Natasha, “Would you be a dear and show me where I can find a cup of coffee” She ask Clint with a smile.
“Sure” He nodded.
Peggy turned back to look at you, “Y/N, I am going to get a cup of coffee, I’ll be back” She told you as she slipped out of the room Clint following her.
“Hi” You told Natasha softly as she was just looking at you, she didn’t move. You bit your lip, “I won’t break” you found yourself saying and let out a small oof as she was at your beside and she had her arms wrapped around you.
“Do you know how worried I was” she asks you as she let go, “Oh did I hurt you, I’m sorry” she started patting you down.
“I’m ok Nattie” You whispered.
“When Bucky and I found you, I thought you were”
“Nattie, I’m ok, its ok” you couldn’t help but assure her, “I’m sorry I didn’t want you to find me like that”
“Y/N, why “she asks and you sighed as you saw the tears slip down her face.
You shrugged your shoulders, “I loved him Nattie, I think a part of me still does.”
“You can’t go back” Natasha told you fiercely.
You didn’t say anything, you couldn’t. You knew in your head that you couldn’t go back, but your heart screamed that you needed to protect her, Steve, Peggy, your niece or nephew and Bucky. You knew Brock wouldn’t let you go that easy. He had told you time and time again. You tried to take another deep breath.
“Promise me” Natasha told you looking you in the eyes, “Promise me you won’t let him hurt you anymore”
“I promise” You whispered, hoping that you didn’t lie to her once again.
