it’s been a while since i rlly binge-read a manga, but i read Gachi Koi Nenchakujuu bc a live action was announced with some toku actors in the cast (hiroki matsumoto, who’s kanata in ultraman decker, and kohaku shida, who’s haruka in donbrothers) so i was curious. now i’m kind of obsessed with it. it’s about gachikoi fans who r obsessed with a streamer group to the point of extremely toxic behavior, including but not limited to: manipulation, kidnapping, stabbing, getting canceled on twitter, lying, cheating, etc. it’s rlly messed up but also rlly interesting!

Honestly anon? I've been kind of avoiding Twitter,Tumblr, and most online social media for a couple of days. I'm trying to avoid Dune Part 2 spoilers like a person running in a mine field lol 😅🤣

While opinions on attractiveness and acting talent can definitely vary greatly from person to person, I don't like it when I get the feeling that certain people are only saying these types of things BECAUSE Zendaya is a talented, woman of color working in the industry. I don't care if everyone doesn't find Zendaya attractive. I don't really care what other people think tbh. But when I get the feeling that someone's views and opinions are based on deep-seated racism, colorism, or any other xenophobic reason, THAT is when I have an issue. 🤨 I don't like that at all.

It's really sad what some people say about others online.... I had to avoid Twitter during TLM press, because EVERY single time the film was being discussed online, there was some weirdo in the comments section (GROWN men and women mind you!) complaining that Ariel in a KID's movie wasn't a white, fire-engine red-headed woman. 😒🙄

For SOME reason, they had an issue with a mermaid (a fictional character btw!) being black. 🙄

The same thing with Zendaya.... For SOME reason, her being black biracial really bothers some people. People need to get used to it. Zendaya is here to stay.

Just let these idiots talk their trash on their keyboards. They will eventually look foolish. I always say that people will let their work speak for themselves. Don't worry Anon, Zendaya's work will continue to speak for itself. If some people have an issue with her, then they can just simply ignore her work. Plain and simple! top 5 hazel headcanons

1) Usually she just wears her hair down, and pulls it up into a basic hair tie when needed. However, when she does braid it (cornrows, twists, micro braids, etc) or pulls it back (bantu knots, space buns, half-up half-down, etc) she always goes way over the top and easily has the best style. She's generally a casual person, just T-shirts and jean bottoms, but something about having her hair done just makes her want to be really fashionable. Eventually though with longer lasting hairstyles she tends to just go back to her simple shirt and jeans combo before she switches- being fashionable is hard and the appeal of doing so wears off after a few weeks of it. (It's important to note that when not trying to be fashionable she's still more fashionable than the average person, but she wouldn't think so.)

2) I think she's probably on stan twitter and definitely had/has a kpop phase where she learns all the dances and songs and stuff. She never gets over the top crazy about the performers, she mostly just enjoys the aesthetic, but for some of her favorite groups she definitely tries to watch as many interviews as she can. She tries to learn korean and with some help from Nico does okay, she's not fluent but she can understand songs now so she's content! She pulls a lot of her fashion from kfashion websites and such, she probably has Amino just for that reason tbh.

3) She plays the most violent video games, there's no real reason for this, she just enjoys them. You wont ever find her curled up with Animal Crossing or anything similar, but Gears of War? Halo? Call of Duty? Doom Eternal? Resident Evil? Or similar? Yeah she's playing that, and she's going to try to finish it in one day if she can.

4) Her and Nico spend a lot of time together over the course of a few years trying really hard to meticulously recreate their childhood recipes. They get really close on a lot of them, and some of them are really weird and their friends all give them this super bothered look when they tell them about what they made, but they don't care because they feel like they've just solved a super difficult puzzle. There is however a couple of recipes they don't manage to recreate, or that they don't recreate well, this is usually because something that was used in the recipe at the time doesn't exist anymore, or because they can't remember the name of the dish or something.

5) She's also into the whole beauty community on Youtube and stuff, she doesn't care for the drama and avoids certain people because of it, but she likes doing makeup and listening to people talk about stuff while she does. Sometimes she watches more general mainstream creators, but you can find her watching makeup youtubers who talk about crime and such more often, and usually Nico will come listen to those videos too- like story time in the Hades cabin while Hazel gets ready, it's great fun! What you think the secret of Drake? This man can drop any time, any day, anything-freestyle, some snippet, feats and easily get a ten top at billboard. I feel like there few artist who can do the same but not in Drake way. Ari can easily debut at top 5(and all her latest songs debuted at #1) but will freefall in next weeks(in billboard), Bieber can't get a #1 but almost everything he drop as singles debut at top ten or top five while Drake can debut and stay at top for months. He is pretty much average if you compare his skills to others rappers but he is definetely havw something to make people listen his music no matter how bad sometimes this sounds

Knowing the power of a social media caption and quotable punchlines! Drake always makes sure to slip in a line or two that he predicts would make for a viral IG captions (mostly amongst women) or become so quotable that people literally jam to that song, just waiting for that one line lol. It’s his bread and butter and he’s been doing it since ‘Thank Me Now.’ Also, Drake is BIG with female-listeners. They might not be stans on Twitter but tons of women love him and will make it a point to tune into all his release. His come-up is actually quite funny because the average, male hip-hop listeners used to absolutely detest Drake and clown him for being ‘soft’ for all the sing/rapping about emotions that he does, then all his mixtapes gained massive traction with women who then started playing his stuff in cars/around the house to the men and basically forced Drake as a rapper onto all these dudes who like to mock him. He only started shifting lane into the ‘harder’ style of rap around the time ‘Nothing Was the Same’ came out and fully did a mixtape around that style of rap with ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ (which you could argue the Meek Mill/ghostwriter rumour invalidated all that ‘hood’/’tough guy’ persona that he finally accomplished with that project). He only started winning over younger, male listeners within the last 3-4 years. Drake is actually a really skilled rapper imo - he’s not the best in any area but he’s definitely one of the most versatile. He’s able to get on different beats without sounding out of place, switch up flows and I think his finest skill is probably the ability to know how to write/rap for the mood, vibe or topic of whichever feature he’s doing. Most rappers hop on a feature and it adds to a song but if Drake hops onto a song as a feature? It becomes his song. I would go as far as to argue that Drake pioneered a whole new sub-genre in rap that most rappers prior to him didn’t dare to venture into. He paved the way for people like Bryson Tiller, XXX, Juice World, etc. Plus, his brand of rap is friendly (at least friendlier than a lot of other rap artists out there) - he croons on a catchy hook and raps for the rest of it. If we actually look pass the music, people just love Drake - the public thinks he’s a cool, laidback dude who’s a bit corny at times (simping after Rih for years, acting like him and JLo were anything deep, being in love with every female he comes across, etc.) but it makes him relatable tbh and celebs themselves seem to love Drake. You can just tell by his birthday celebration that he’s very well-connected. 

To sum it up: Drake appeals to all-demographic at this point in his career. Other artists like Ari and Justin appeal to a wide variety of audience, sure, but not on the same scale as Drake.

Hey I just need to get something off my chest and idk why I’m dumping this all on u but u seem like the nicest person on tumblr that I know but if ur uncomfortable or anything pls feel free to look over this. Lately I’ve been trying to stay away from bts and the fandom bc I feel like it’s toxic for me. It’s not like where I listen to them and follow them and obsess on a religious level but I feel like I’m more occupied w them than I should be. 1/?

After all they’re all just humans who get tired and lonely and miserable and aren’t perfect, yet we idolize them and depend on them for our happiness. Of course we should support them, but it’s to the point where it’s frickin ridiculous, like nothing exists without bts, u know what I mean? 2/?

And I’m at the point of life where t depends on me to make my own decisions and make choices that will shape my future, and I really don’t want to look back and regret wasting time watching videos and thinking about things that will essentially have no impact on my life. What I like about bts is that they seem to have a deeper motive behind just simple Kpop, but I think I’ve taken that too far to an extent where it’s become my excuse. 3/?

Bts are seven people who have worked hard to deserve recognition and truly deserve it, but they’re also seven men who have separate lives from me that I have nothing to do with. They’re people that I’ve never even met and I don’t know tbh, we only see the filtered and edited sides of them. It just feels wrong to look at the packaged versions of them and expect them to live up to my expectations or fantasies. 4/?

I don’t know how to phrase this … the diversity and tolerance is amazing, but at the same time, I’d like more genuine friendships than fangirling over someone’s biceps and thighs u know. Lately I’ve been kind of falling out of listening to bts and stuff, but I find myself continuously going on social media so I can keep up with them in habit, more than being interested. I deleted Twitter and unfollowed all bts accounts on insta and tumblr, but without it I feel like I’m missing something 8/?

It’s just a cycle of me trying to discipline myself, not being able to do it, and getting sick of myself for being so pathetic. Even with fanfic, ur writing for example is literally better than like an average author, but I feel so stupid to fantasize about someone without even knowing them first. hi, honey bee, it’s totally okay to talk to me about anything you want and also, you’re incredibly sweet for thinking that i’m the nicest person on here, thank you :’) but i really understand how you feel towards the whole fandom and bts.

yes, bts are just humans who get tired and lonely and miserable and aren’t perfect, but rather than idolizing them, it’s perfectly okay to like them for who they are as people and for the music they produce. it’s okay to appreciate someone for the work they do, like how we enjoy artwork and appreciate the artist for creating them or how we like the flowers planted in the park and appreciate the gardener for planting them.

i wouldn’t say that my happiness depends completely on them, but they do make up a little part of it because their music makes me happy. and music is supposed to make you feel things. their funny videos can make you happy, and that’s okay, too. i see stanning bts as a hobby i enjoy at times, not as my only source of happiness, because there’s so much more that makes me happy, like flowers, food, art, etc. however, depending on one thing for happiness is unhealthy, so i do agree that an obsession with bts is bad. there’s nothing wrong with supporting them, but yes, having a mindset that only bts exists is unhealthy. i just found this post that better explains how stanning a group is good and bad through the psychological point of view, and it’s pretty interesting! :D

i don’t think you’re wasting time watching videos of them. if they made you happy at the time, if they made you laugh when you were sad, then it was worth it. unless you’re choosing to watch videos 24/7 and neglecting your family, friends, academics, job, health, etc. then i don’t think it’s necessarily bad that you’re watching videos. it’s like watching your favorite tv shows or playing sports. it’s just another hobby. it has an impact on your life because it makes you happier.

i do understand your concern though as you move into a new chapter of your life. personally, i’m not as into them as i once was back in high school anymore. i did spend a good deal of time writing and posting a fic about them once a week. it really changed when i went to college though since my priorities and time commitments changed. i think you might be more occupied with them when there isn’t something else to fill that aspect in your life if that makes sense? i wasn’t particularly academically simulated in high school, so i had a lot of time on my hands even after spending time with friends and doing clubs. i got into kpop because that’s something easily accessible and it’s entertaining. but with the freedom that comes with college and harder classes, my time is filled more with going out with friends, studying, painting, spending time with my roommates, etc. and bts got less of my time.

yes, bts are people with separate lives who you may never meet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate and like them for what they do. and, they might not show everything about themselves to the public, but we can learn from the good examples they do show, such as their UNICEF work and lyrics that talk about more than just romantic love. i personally think that most of what they show is genuine, but there is a line to be drawn between enjoying the work they do and believing they are gods. but yes, i do get that their personas to the public can be fake, which is a bit /: because yeah, there are people who are in love with them and dedicate their lives to them, but we really don’t know who bts actually are.

i think, rather than idolizing them, it’s better to see them as humans and as people just like us. that tends to take away any fantasies or expectations i have of them. yes, they are kpop idols, and that’s their job. they’re just working to make a living doing what they love. yes, the industry is built upon the fans, but it’s like that with any music artist or celebrity. i think it’s okay to like bts, but not to the point where your love for them surpasses the love you have for people who are actually in your life.

and you’re making sense, don’t worry! i hope my answer makes sense, too. i think every fan goes through where you’re at right now. i had felt that way about bts and exo before, but i moved on from that and now see them as people whom i appreciate. it was just a process for me, but i think it has to do with me filling my time with other things and spending time with people i thought were more important, and my love for kpop is now just something that brightens my day a bit if i ever need it.

some fans can be very… enthusiastic, but that might just be because they don’t have anyone else to talk to about bts. but yes, i get what you’re talking about. sometimes, it’s exhausting to just talk about one thing all the time and be seen as just a bts fan, and not as your own person. but even myself, i think it’s exciting to find someone else that listens to kpop since for me, there aren’t that many people around me who do. but after the initial excitement, i’ve made many friends through our mutual love for bts. as friendships grow, we talk about other interests we have and other things we like, so we don’t always talk about kpop. many of my friendships started from a mutual interest, whether it be bts or art or a mutual dislike for a teacher or class subject haha, but it grows from there as we talk about other things and get to know each other.

it’s fun to have someone to talk about comebacks and mv’s with, but yeah, i get that there’s more to talk about. maybe you can try introducing a new topic? or going out with friends who don’t listen to bts? and hey, we can be friends if you want :D you can talk to me about your day, your favorite foods, your favorite tv shows, any pets if you have them, anything else you want! i haven’t listened to bts for a while now either, i only follow their official account on instagram, and i don’t check my tumblr for days, even months during the school year. i don’t think you have to cut them out entirely to the point where you feel like something is missing. but if you are no longer interested in them, do you have any hobbies you can use to fill up that missing feeling? maybe baking or cooking? drawing? going out with friends?

and you are not pathetic!!! you don’t have to cut off something entirely at once. it takes time, but you’ll get there. and omg alsjdhflaksdhfd thank you for saying that about my writing :’) and there’s nothing wrong with reading fanfiction! please don’t feel bad for reading it. fanfictions are just like any other stories out there, except you already have a face and a name for some characters. i personally don’t read them for the idols featured; i read them because the writing is so much better and there are so many more interesting concepts involved in fics than in books i can get from the library.

If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?: This is strange question because I’m in my very nice bed and I don’t really want to be anywhere else at the moment but like in general Boyfriend and I are planning on moving to England so I’d like to be there? Kind of? Or like... sitting on a beach somewhere? Sitting next to my sister? I’m not really longing to be somewhere else so much as wanting some things to be a little different? But on the whole I’m extremely satisfied with where I’m at right now.

When would you time travel to?: lol fuck any time period before this one (modern medicine and some more rights are v nice) so I’ll say 3017 but that’s assuming tr*mp doesn’t get our entire goddamned planet fucking destroyed and also that people aren’t asshats to each other based on social constructions and institutions like gender and religion and identity and also ethnic backgrounds :’)

First Fandom I joined: Oh boy this is a good question. I was just talking to Boyfriend the other day about how Han/Leia was my first OTP before I really knew what that meant? Like watching the movies as a kid I felt in my heart like “yes they’re so good together please be happy together forever” I wasn’t on the Internet at all until 2008, and not on tumblr until 2011, and not on stan twitter until earlier this year lmao. When I started the tumblr, it was mostly disney and then avengers when it came out? This blog is my first like dedicated I’M IN A FANDOM venture.

Favorite book: I hate this question because I know someone out there will hate me for it *squints* but the honest truth is “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton it’s been my favorite since seventh fucking grade so fight me about it!!!1!

Worst thing you’ve ever eaten/tasted: Oh no this is horrible because I’m a fucking picky ass eater lmao uhhh I hate rice?? bad texture.

What class do you wish you paid more attention to in school? This is not the answer you’re looking for but I had some severe problems in my life when I was in high school so really I wish I had been able to pay more attention to everything in school. I would literally time travel back and redo it all if I could. I would have taken my government classes more seriously, gotten more into my history classes, and would have signed up for AP Art History because I fucking wanted to but I didn’t. If those problems hadn’t been there or hadn’t affected me so badly I would have gotten better grades and could have chosen something different for college. In college, I might have looked for something more like anthropology and focused more on language in a cultural and socio-historical context and not just language and teaching language. Similarly without those problems I would have been able to pay better attention in college and have gotten better grades, done more academic research, etc.

Just hypothetically, if you could get rid of one entire species and not have it screw up the ecosystem at all, what would it be? Humans :’) we’re the worst.

First foray into fanfic? How To Train Your Dragon on that fanfiction net website. I remember seeing the second film and feeling so, like, when are those two going to kiss and get married and live happily ever after? I needed that closure. Then I discovered AUs and ~lemons~ and then I was reading Frozen fic for a while(??) and finally Supernatural. Apple Pie Life by @heyacas​ was the first fic I read on ao3 after it was recced to me and I never looked back.

why does jared irritate you?

It was a bunch of little things that added up over several years so now I can’t even remember them all tbh. A lot of it was how much he bitched on twitter about minor inconveniences with airlines and stuff, back in like 2014 I think. Like airports are fucking annoying and I get that but he has so many fans ... he could use his star power to fight for causes where people are sick and dying and oppressed and instead he spent like a year whining like a toddler that American Airlines didn’t do exactly what he wanted a few times (And then kept booking flights with them anyway). Idk, I know he’s had some mental health issues, that I don’t know much about since I stopped stanning him. So I’m hoping that was all part of whatever illness he’s been fighting, and not him just being a giant privileged man-baby. I loved him for long enough that he deserves me giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was good person going through a hard time. I just couldn’t stand hearing about it anymore. Celebrities who make a big stink about being bumped from a flight once are so insufferably out of touch with the kinds of shit that average people go through every day.

Nico + Reyna headcanons for @hey-lets-be-fandom-friendss because she asked so nicely, although this kind of turned into Nico, Reyna, and Hazel sibling headcanons so I hope you don't mind:

People who don't know them always think they're dating because heteronormativity and people see who they precieve to be a boy and a girl together and they don't like siblings so they're like "ah yes relationship"

Nico and Reyna are both fairly good at laughing it off, and sometimes they'll semi-jokingly mock people who think that by kissing eachothers hands or something

Nico is basically like Reyna's little brother though so it's all just for funsies between the two of them... they just think picking on heteronormativity is fun and tbh they should have some fun

Reyna and him are really good sparring buddies, since they're about the same size and have similar levels of weaponry training and athleticism.. They just have a "no powers rule" and that makes them evenly matched (Percy, Nico, Thalia, and Jason practice their powers together)

Reyna ends up enventually "adopting" Hazel as well, she gets two little siblings.. Having siblings is a new experience for Hazel but for Nico it feels homey...

Jason being like a brother figure to Nico is new for all of them since nobody in the group has ever had a brother before, Hazel and Nico both view Jason as friend/brother but Reyna just sees him as a close friend

Reyna is always telling Nico stories about living on her pirate ship, he obviously loves the stories literally so much, it reminds him of reading books about pirates as a kid

Sometimes Reyna will say something like "we always used to do x but I don't know why" and Nico will tell her the historical signifigance of the thing and the reason it was done on pirate ships

Nico, Hazel, and Reyna all sit around and do one anothers hair while watching movies/playing video games... Nico grows his hair out, and Hazel always wants new styles, and it's just easier if someon does Reyna's braid for her, so they have hairtime at least once a week as like an affectionate sort of thing

Video game competitions are literally the most hardcore thing between the three of them , they are all sure they're going to win and will do so by any means possible.

Reyna isn't super artistic like Hazel and Nico so she's always so amazed by the things they're able to create and make and she's just like OwO because they make such wonderful and beautiful things

Nico gets a little bit into anime because of Will and Mitchell (Will introduces him to general anime, and Mitchell introduces him to BL)... Anyhow Nico gets Reyna involved in Anime as well, she likes Death Note and maybe like Food Wars or something (I don't know that many anime/manga)

They watch "shigatsu kimi no uso" with Hazel and they all watch Sword Art Online together too

Hazel finds kpop because of Anime and she's a stan on twitter now

Anyhow because it was like a modern culture thing for the two of them and Reyna participated they start like a "Saturday night tv binge" tradition thing, and sometimes it's an anime and other times they watch normal tv or culturally relevant movies...

Reyna explains Netflix and Hulu and stuff to Nico and one day she comes back from Camp Jupiter and he's handing her a fire stick when she walks in his cabin and he's like "I have no clue how it works, but look what I bought!" and he's so excited and proud of himself

Reyna is always the one to open the curtains and stuff in Nico's cabin because he likes the dark too much and Hazel just doesn't notice and forgets to

Reyna and Nico are always singing along to the radio and stuff together, Nico has a good voice, and Reyna's is above average so they sound really good together.. Nico's more of a tenor and Reyna is an alto so they do some cool stuff with that!

Hazel can sing fairly well too, she doesn't really have a special voice but if she's singing people don't ask her to be quiet so she does alright, she just doesn't care to sing all that much, she prefers other art

She does however start learning Korean with Nico and she learns all the coreography for her favorite groups and she's a really good dancer

Nico does it with her and Reyna just shake her head at them and laughs while she does work for CJ
