After talking about this au with some friends I’ve realized a lot of people probably assume that Foolish and Punz are quite large because well, centaurs! So here's a quick messy size chart! 

Foolish and Punz are cervidae centaurs and more specifically based on reindeer (with design liberties for their colorations and antlers of course), which are a lot smaller than horses. They both stand at around 7ft, same as Sam (werecat), while Dream (avian) is around 6′3, and Sapnap (demon hybrid) 5′8 for comparison. Actual horse centaurs are a lot larger and their human halves are overall bigger in proportions.

Sapnap is technically the only one on this chart who can ride Punz based on size, which he doesn't do very often (Punz is very picky when and who gets on his back due past trauma). But due to being avian and having hollow bones, Dream is quite light and can also sit on his back without causing any discomfort, but only really do when they have a job that has them traveling over rough terrain where Dream can’t take his horse. Tina on the other hand is practically glued to Foolish back, which Foolish don’t mind at all <3

avians (grian , jimmy, whoever else with fanon wings idk im too tired) cannot fly in the life series as the watches make their wings smaller to stop them from having an advantage / flying away but they can glide down hills and short distances, if they panic whilst falling they cant catch themselves

in empires s1, both scott and xornoth have trouble walking through doors because of their antlers. Like xornoth will be chasing someone or something then he just hits the doorframe with a CLANG or scott will be trying to get outside and he just gets stuck and has to get someone to free him

speaking of those antlers my own hc is that when scott found the book in that tomb, he went from a regular elf to having the antlers and like deer ears / deer hybrid thing, during his elsa arc he shed them / he sawed them off because he felt he wasnt worthy but they grew back and sometimes have icicles hanging off them

Soo me and the beloved were discussing avians, bird anatomy and how birds mimic voices and start to sound like people they're near often. And i wrote this snippet and they somehow convinced me to post it

Punz leans on a column of the arch that separates their bases little kitchenette and the space dream has claimed as his impromptu "office". ((Aka books scattered haphazardly across the floor and papers plastered to the walls with anything from sticky notes to arrows speared through the scrolls like a prized kill. To punz it looks more like a mental breakdown than a functional workspace, but who is he to judge))

Dream is reading a map, at least attempting to as tired eyes scan through the scramble of lines for the 3rd or 7h time like its going to effect the outcome in any way. Punz catches his attention with a knock to the cold wood, it makes dream flinch and punz only feels a little bad, ((its routine at this point, better to act like nothings changed than make dream feel fragile with gentle movements and an unchanged outcome)) punz can tell dream hasn't slept when he raises his head to tilt it at him expectantly, frazzled feathers and hair that isn't much better off, punz doesn't comment on it. He informs dream he's going to make breakfast now, asking if he's hungry. Dream says 'no', it comes out a little sharper than he meant it, punz looks taken aback, and says he sounds like sam. Dream feels empty as he realizes he can't tell the difference anymore.

Is this just an unnecessarily long set up to one (1) line i wanted to deliver? Yes.

Sam has such a huge crush in this fic that he's failing to realize that Dream has just as much of a big crush on him too. Dream only asks George and Sapnap and sometimes Punz (who he considers his "mates") to preen his wings, and he's asking Sam while he could just as easily ask one of them.

He's not just looking at Sam's blueprints to be polite - he legitimately thinks Sam being this smart and creative is incredibly attractive. He's not taking his shirt off because it's 'easier to preen that way' he's taking his shirt off because he's trying to show off his wings and his back and his chest - which is a huge part of avian courting/dating rituals.

He's been trying to drop hints that he's down this entire time but Sam has the social skills of a walnut and just doesn't realize this is actually a thing that could happen to him because he's convinced everyone will only ever see him as a friend.

Sorry for answering so late! I got distracted

I do also need to point out: Dream goes into blob form when very relaxed, or when his body senses it’ll be better to be smaller (in this scenario, a smaller form could squirm into a tree burrow easier, but it makes it so much harder to stay warm). Another thing: blob Dream is not as small as shrunken Dream; while shrunken Dream is roughly the size of someone’s middle finger or palm, Blob Dream is the size of someone’s whole hand. So some people without experience have a harder time getting him down.

Punz is an avian hybrid! If he finds Dream out in the snow, borderline freezing, you bet your ass he’s helping his friend out. Dream wouldn’t have been stored by Punz before that point, I think. He’d unintentionally revealed his avian traits when he landed in front of the blob, concern turning his wings downwards, feathers brushing against the snow. After that, it doesn’t take much convincing and Dream gets a warm spot to relax while Punz takes him back to his base.

Quackity as an avian is in a similar boat, but while Punz has a harder time getting blob Dream down, Q doesn’t because he has experience with Karl’s true form. He can’t help but tease the other a bit until he’s reminded that he is also cold-blooded, and Q rushes them to his house so Sapnap can warm them up.

George would be with him, when he begins to shiver and then when he goes into blob form. In this situation, George would have gotten better about noms despite having not stored his blob form before, he’s damn well gonna try to to save his friend. He’s holding Dream in a way that completely covers whatever can’t fit in his mouth, trying to help warm him up so he’s easier to get down.

Sam literally stores Dream at his normal height all the time, he’s got no problem storing him and warming him up, but he also scolds him for not taking better care of himself and make sure he’d be okay.

Tommy can’t store people without the purple potion, and it’s not something he just has laying around in his inventory. He scoops Dream up off the ground, holds him close to his chest and tries to block out the wind as much as possible, and bolts to Phil’s home.

Ranboo doesn’t know much about Dream, let alone this form of his, but he does know a thing or two about cold-blooded creatures and knows he needs to get Dream warm pretty quick. If Dream is still shivering, Ranboo will take his chances and carry Dream to Phil or to his and Tubbo’s home. If Dream isn’t shivering anymore, Ranboo wastes no time storing him and racing to the closest house.

Fundy is out in the arctic begrudgingly, and running into Dream is a surprise. But he’s not dumb; Dream wasn’t shivering, and the axolotl ears on his blob form told him he was cold-blooded. He won’t swallow him, it’s not safe for him to, but he does hold him in his mouth and continues to Phil’s at a faster pace than before.

With some of them he’ll turn back instantly, somewhat ashamed to be caught at such a vulnerable moment. Others? He stays a blob for a good while, making them realize just how much he trusts them.

Anyways, to explain Purpled, first we have to know about Fundy, because the two are joined at the hip 90%. (the 10% is when Fundy stays home from bounty hunting yes I will explain that later)

Fundy was born into a relatively nice family. His father loved him dearly, his mother was dead, but Fundy did his best to keep her memory alive. He may have been an avian, but that didn't mean he couldn't swim and cherish every waterborn creature he met.

But good things can't last forever. Fundy moved to the capital city when he was eight, due to Wilbur being offered a job to work as a hero. What seemed like a good thing quickly turned into a curse, and Fundy noticed he never received the attention his father once gave him.

It all came to a head when one day when Fundy was 12, as he was considering being coming a vigilante, a teenager broke into the living room, bloodied and bruised.

Purpled was born into a cruel world. His family was dirt poor and the only one to pay any attention to him at all was his older brother, Punz. Purpled spent his early days sitting outside, making houses for bugs and reading about space at the public library.

That all was brought crashing down when a fire started in Purpled apartment building, when the bug hybrid was 10. His parents didn't make it out. Punz tried his best to care for his younger brother, but Purpled was changed after that day. He was more bitter, more likely to see the bad in things. Less likely to care about his safey.

Punz, in a final, desperate attempt to bond with Purpled, asked the younger child him into being a mercenary. Purpled thrived in his new job, even if he was becoming far too used to the smell of blood and pulling the trigger.

That changed once again when Purpled, tired after a kill, caught the attention of a popular hero. Siren was quick to try to overpower the teenager, but Purpled fought back. He escaped and ran into the first house he could find after he had gotten the hero off his tail.

Quickly, the two bonded. They had nothing else but each other after all. Purpled convinced Fundy to become a vigilante and to learn about redstone (which had been banned after the Hermitopia Lab explosion when Fundy was ten), and Fundy made new gadgets to help Purpled.

They became best friends fast, and their houses became safe spots for when they needed an escape. Punz was almost never home, and if Wilbur was out at work, nobody would question Fundy bringing home a friend.

Or, that was how they lived until Fundy was 16 and Purpled was 18. Things all came crashing down that year.

Lemme just info dump instead I guess xD

There are three main species in the world: humans, hybrids, and mages. (Giants also, but they're almost extinct) Humans are the majority, and are awfully cruel to mages and hybrids

George is a powerful mage, and his preferred sect of magic is for fungi/mushroom magic. He can use other types of magic, which is something not a lot of other mages can do

Sapnap is a half (a quarter blaze, technically) blaze hybrid, half mage. He has some pretty good pyrokineses.

Tommy's an avian, a spotted nutcracker, to be specific, which is a relative of the corvide family. Phil's his dad, the goddess of death is his mom, Techno (adopted, piglin hybrid) and Wil (avian) are his older brothers. Sally is technically his sister in law, but he calls her Aunt, and Fundy is his nephew.

Hmmmmm let's see. Quackity is an avian but he can't fly, poor dude, but he helps Tommy out when the teen's wings come in.

Dream isn't really the villain in this. That title goes to the Humans (lol). He is really terrifying to most of the littler folk, cause he's a literal man-eating giant, but other than that he's fairly nice. At least, to the people he likes.

Dream has to eat (primarily humans, cause George and Sapnap, who know he eats people and often help him 'catch' humans (nobody else except Punz knows, and they all prefer to keep it a secret) don't like to kill their own kind) the smaller three species of this world at least once a month, or he'll lose his mind and go on an instinct-driven killing/eating spree. Think of it like taking meds for like anger issues or impulse control, but ramped up to ten-thousand.

I think that's all I'll put down for now. I have an extensive timeline I'm currently working on (and several finished and almost finished!! events written already) but I really would like a proofreader to help me with the timeline, to make sure everything is all straight. I'm waiting till I get the timeline out before I post any of the finished stories, btw. If y'all have any other questions, just let me know!!

Thinking about Sam taking his role as Punz’s substitute life-partner so seriously. Like he knew nothing about centaurs before Punz and according to most human resources they classed as a “beastal” species. This classification is given to humanoid species with strong animal features, like avians and taurens, and is often also used to signify that the species have a more animal-like intelligence too.

Sam knows that most of the time this is false information, he’s known Dream for years now and he’s fairly sure avians ascend human intelligence. So when he tries to read up on centaurs and “beastal” is one of the first things he finds he instantly takes it with a lot of scepticism.

He has to throw a lot of books out when Punz grows healthier and more lucid (having been weak and delirious with a fever when Sam and Dream got him), proving their information wrong with his natural behaviours, everything from being flustered of his state of undress to his ability to pick up words and learning new languages. It takes tracking down reputable explorers and writers, and sending letters to libraries of neighbouring towns, until Sam finally gets a hold of accurate research. Which is when he learns about centaur life-partners.

He feels really sad for Punz, realising the centaur must feel incredibly lonely if he was used to constantly having someone around, and he becomes determined to find a way to make him feel better. One of the first things he does is to sketch out some sets of centaur clothes, based on the sketches in one of his books, and ropes Sylvee and Hannah into helping to make a few variants so Punz can feel more comfortable. 

While he waits for those to be made he notices a slight decline in Punz’s healing, the centaur looking more and more exhausted and Sam eventually realises he isn’t sleeping. He can’t really pinpoint why at first, but after some more researching learns that centaurs often sleep leaning against each other and that Punz might be struggling to sleep alone now that his health isn’t keeping him knocked out.

So he starts working on a second project, a weighted blanket. It’s going to take a while to get the materials to finish though, and he worries about the centaur's health declining even more, so he tries another temporary solution. He starts spending the night in the same stable stall as Punz, at first unsure what to do and worries he will make the centaur uncomfortable since he’s still very closed off and stand off-ish, but hoping his presence will eventually calm Punz enough to doze off. 

It works eventually, especially after Sam starts bringing books to read out loud just to fill the silence. He gradually moves closer to the centaur, ready to back off should he try to shuffle away, still too injured to properly walk, but Punz lets him come close and eventually starts to drift off to the sounds of Sam’s voice. He will however flinch awake every time Sam goes quiet, which isn’t really fixing the problem, because if Sam stays awake to read he will end up just as exhausted and unable to properly care for the centaur. He’s determined to make Punz better tho, so he pushes himself to stay awake and read to him, taking naps between his tasks at the farm during the day to keep up. 

This of course eventually comes to a tipping point, Sam tiredly reading to Punz while sitting next to the centaur, finally having gained his trust enough to be so close. Punz is dosing peacefully to Sam’s slurred words, looking so calm and relaxed that eventually Sam can’t help to close his eyes too, just for a second, only to get just a little of that same peaceful bliss.

Next thing he knows it’s morning, and he wakes up draped across the centaur’s flank. He almost flinches away at first, concerned he’s accidentally crossed Punz’s boundaries, but then notices the centaur is still fast asleep, for the first time sleeping through a full night at the farm.

Sam makes it a habit to sleep against Punz after that, overjoyed at the progress in centaurs growing health and his trust in him. Shortly thereafter Sam finishes up the weighted blanket, and the girls complete Punz’s new clothes, just in time for Punz to start gaining strength and start walking again.

Sam honestly thought Punz would leave the farm at that point. They never left the stable stall he was in locked, or even fully closed, so the centaur would know he was free to go where he pleased and Punz does just that when he’s able to. Tentatively at first, as if he’s worried he’s going to be hunted down if he tries to run, but gain more confidence when no one stops him. He starts wandering further away from the farm and most nights, even sleeping outside. Hannah keeps track of him through her connection of rose bushes, just so they know if he ever actually leaves, but to Sam’s relief Punz always comes back and even seeks Sam out specifically every couple of days.

When he does he will let Sam take care of him, letting the were-cat check over some of his still healing injuries, clean his fur, and change through his dirty set of clothes for new ones. He also starts helping Sam with his daily tasks at the farm, trailing after him to help care for the farm animals and assist with whatever Sam is building. Even when Sam settles down to do some tinkering Punz will join him, at first in silence, but as he picks up more of the language he starts to ask questions that Sam is all too happy to answer.

It takes Sam a while to realise Punz has pretty much chosen him as his new life-partner, because Punz will regularly seek out Sapnap too, but not in the same way. Sapnap helps Punz with his hooves when needed, and will help the centaur wash off after a sparring session, but Punz dosen’t go to the demon when he needs help with his clothes, or when he’s hurt or feeling sick, or when he needs to vent or is looking for advice. Those moments he goes to Sam specifically, and those are things life-partners do for each other.

Sam grows so incredibly fond of Punz when he realises this, and tentatively starts to let Punz take care of him back. He will let Punz brush his hair and fur, diligently eating any forged plants Punz brings him to snack on, and if it gets too hot or cold he will make a big show of asking Punz to help him put on or remove his jacket for him. The centaur clearly thinks that last one is too much, often scoffing and rolling his eyes while smiling, because Sam is very much capable of dressing himself, but he still appreciates the gesture and will do as the were-cat asks.

They grow very close, Sam’s fondness for Punz growing alongside their friendship, but he blatantly ignores that it couldn’t possibly be jealous he feels when Punz and Sapnap get together. He ignores the same feeling when Dream connects with Punz and starts taking the centaur away on his adventures, picking up the role as Punz’s caretaker when they’re away from the farm together. He keeps ignoring it when one day they come back home with Foolish, Tina, and Karl, Foolish sliding back into the role as Punz life-partner as if Sam had never been there.

Sam is happy for them, he is. Punz still comes to him for help and advice, still lets him help him get dressed and brushed at times because Foolish likes to let Tina help him with that stuff too. He’s happy for Punz, he really is, all he wanted to do from the start was to give the centaur a second chance at life and to make sure he was happy, and Punz is very clearly doing great. So he keeps ignoring that feeling that can’t possibly be jealous, that can’t possibly be longing and regret.

Remember this AU? Welp, it's different! Niki and her young brothers are kidnapped but saved by the Dream Team.

To keep them safe during a raid, Dream calls upon his favor from Technoblade (a fearsome Piglin warrior who's taking it easy with his best friend and nephew)

DSMP is part of different sections of a pirate crew, Dream is one of the founders.

No real bad guy, just people being people.

Technoblade is turned into Technodad without his permission or knowledge and Philza makes fun of him for it.

Wilbur finds them all adorable and learns about humans from Niki.

Tommy likes Wilbur the most, after Techno, and tends to crawl after him when he's free.

Phil and Kristen are usually holding onto Ranboo and Tubbo, though they like to trade which kid to watch.

Wilbur is a phantom (undead elytrian, think born without a pulse but circumstances brings them back.) His skin is blue translucent and tough to Peirce. His tail is long and mostly bone, luminescent feathers are on his face like an elytrian and avian.

Technoblade is a Piglin Brute, (basically walking talking boarman with a pension for violence.) his skin in pinkish and on each bicep is a symbol of his tribe. He is a warrior and scholar, the first brute to achieve something other than warrior status. He is gentle when he needs to be and firm other times. His eyes are often red with gold irises unless he goes berserk. When he goes into berserk mode, then his pupils disappear and his red eyes glow. Yes he also has a Tail with a tuff of fur at the end.

Philza and Kristen are elytrians, (flying bird people, complete with talons and bird legs.) Their wings are on their backs and talons for claws on their hands. They also have long tails with feathers adorning it. The feathers on their arms are hard and often mistaken (or used) for blades, they harden when the elytrian feels threatened. (If in a supernatural/paranormal AU, these are similar to silver and iron). Fallen feathers can be used as gifts for friends, arm feathers (can only be removed from breaking or natural shedding) used for family.

Niki was used for experiments and fighting pits. The aliens found out quick that she'd do anything for the boys. (Either Axolotl or Piglin)

The boys were experimented on while she was in the pits. (Either All Piglin or ranging from red panda, cat and bunny(for angst) or mouse(more angst) or axolotl)

They will be a type of hybrids (or the same depending how I feel)

What I think is going on if any of the DSMP members win the Elytra.

Tubbo: Built those wings himself. Healing arc. 

Tommy: Avian, his wings finally came in, they are little chicken wings. 

Ranboo: Teleporting unlocked more end heritage, they are wings like the ender dragon. 

Eryn Cyberonix: That accident that fucked up his arm also fucked up his wings, when he has elytra he simply had a good night’s rest and they came back.

Charlie Slimecicle: Slime wings.

Fundy: Shapeshifter.

Purpled: Alien tech he finally repaired. 

Quackity: Avian, he just stopped binding down his duck wings.

Wilbur Soot: translucent avian wings that belong to a ghost, he insists he doesn’t have them and that he’s well and healthy and normal now. 

FoolishGamers: Mans is a god. Of course he has wings. They are somehow smooth like shark skin. 

Eret: They won wings back from a cult in the past, and forgot. Just re-discovered them. The wings are an eldritch summoned force that binds to your back, but like in a friendly way.

Awesamdude: Built those wings himself. The satisfaction of creation somehow does not overcome the guilt of what he has done and is doing and was prepared to do. His hands shake at night.

Captain Puffy: A divine boon from the time she saved a god. (It was a swindle but the god doesn’t know yet.)

Antfrost: They may or may not be demon wings and he may or may not be making an arrangement with a high cost to bring someone back and it may or may not be corrupting him. It’s fine. Look, cat!

Hannahxxrose: Plant-based wings, they were a gift from the forest as she healed. 

Ponk: The Doctor has been doing Inadvisable Science. 

Punz: High tech wings were his payment for a job well done. Don’t ask questions. 

Skeppy: He stole them from Bad in an epic troll. 

BadBoyHalo: He’s literally a demon, he’s always had demon wings, he just thought it was rude to use them before. Are we really sure it’s not rude? It’s okay now?

GeorgeNotFound: idk he woke up and they were there. maybe the god who’s been following him gave them. he doesn’t care. they look like dragonfly wings.

Sapnap: Fire phoenix wings. 

Karl Jacobs: he doesn’t remember where he got them but they’ve grown into his back and he can’t take them off. when pulled on something screams with his voice but it doesn’t come from his throat (but his throat bleeds anyway). they’re beautiful when they catch the light. 

TinaKitten: Adorable wings that match her ears (they have ribbons) that she shanked a man for. 

Dream: End dragon wings, but he stole them when he closed the End. They’ve been spliced on, he has to take anti-rejection meds. 

Connor: They are video game elytra that he won in a contest on the 30th of October 2021. He’s going to take them to hang out with his other friends. 

Niki: Fire phoenix wings, but specifically with a healing property. 

Jack Manifold: Went to Hell. Came back wrong. When you look at him out of the corner of your eye you see a monstrous misshapen creature of rage and spite, wings to pull it higher, and when you look at him straight on you see Jack. 

Hbomb: You know the anime girl backpack that looks like little crossed wings? That. 

Michael McChill: Paranoid Radio Host takes another step in the tradition of Cecil Baldwin and has wings of purple light.

Technoblade: Dragon wings, but specifically a dragon that’s also a wither. They sink into his back like cold fingers. 

Philza: Avian, his wings finally healed.

IM HERE IM ASKING ABOUT UR DSMP AVIANS AU okay so like when u mean avians im assuming human-bird hyrbids like we see with grian and phil and sometimes tommy and quackity but what kinds of birds r everyone?? does everything in canon still apply the same way or are some things altered to better fit their new bird characteristics???? And do u have any new, altered design ideas that you'd like to show or describe? ???? :DDDD

i haven't got ideas for all of the dsmp characters yet, but here are the ideas i have so far:

Non-Avians:

slime (he's still a slime, he just shapeshifted some wings on himself to blend in and look more normal (since most of the server's members are avians of some kind))

techno (he's a totally normal immortal human who's just. kinda Here)

antfrost (still Cat)

those aren't the only non-avians, but they're the only ones i have ideas for atm

The Members (Who Are Avians) That I Have Ideas For:

tommy- Mourning Dove (listen. the Symbolism. mourning doves aren't Just symbols of sorrow and grief (which...yeah), but also for peace, love and faith (religious c!tommy hcs, anyone-))

tubbo- Eurasian Golden Oriole (this one is purely for the Vibes)

ranboo- Black-and-White Warbler (again, Also The Vibes)

wilbur- European Starling (partially for The Vibes, but also cause I just think it'd look nice (also, I know according to lore that c!wil is apparently from utah, so him being a European Bird would make no sense lore-wise, but shhh-))

sally (because yes, she's here as well)- Osprey (water bird, they live near water (like the ocean), and i hc sally to be a pirate)

dream- Loggerhead Shrike (my thought process behind trying to find a bird for this guy was basically 'what sort of f**ked up bird would fit with this guy?' then i remembered shrikes. y'know, those birds that impale their prey on spikes? that are also SONGBIRDS? look, the vibes fit Way Too Well for me. also, i discovered that loggerhead shrikes can be found in florida! :] also, a fun fact! shrikes are actually Also hunt other birds :) take that how you will)

punz- Peregrine Falcon (every time i try to think of a bird for this guy, my brain keeps screeching 'F A L C O N')

phil- Crow, but the wings still have those diamond shape things that are on his cape (i think this one's a bit obvious)

fundy- Raven (look, hes both descended from The Angel of Death and has prophetic dreams. it fits for me)

eret- Lilac-Breasted Roller (Very Colorful. eret deserves to have a very colorful bird. seriously, look them up, they are The Rainbow As A Bird-)

purpled- Violet-Backed Starling (...guess)

hannah- Rosefinch, Specifically one of those Very Pink Rosefinches (...pink, also is literally called a ROSEfinch-)

niki- House Sparrow (i looked up german birds and house sparrows came up. look, i'm trying-)

sam- California Condor (okay, so! i looked up vulture symbolism, right? well, along with death and all that, vultures are also symbols for seriousness, protection, intelligence, and resourcefulness. plus, these guys are Big, and isn't c!sam canonically like, over 7 feet tall?)

quackity- Mallard Duck (look. Duck)

jack- Robin (Vibes)

foolish- Golden Eagle (big bird, and also...y'know..Golden. Eagle. just. the pun (cause his character is like a totem. which looks like it's made out of gold. look this one was partially cause my brain thought it'd be funny))

that's all i can really of for characters atm. but now!! facts!! about the au!!

so! life stages for avians!

-Hatchling: basically from birth to 5 years old. wings have little-to-no feathers

-Fledgling: 6-8 years old. wings have Down Feathers. fluffy :]

-Featherling: 9-13 years. at this point, the actual feathers start coming in! featherlings now have the ability to slow their falling and glide! no flying yet though :(

-Flightlings: 14-Adulthood. they start learning to actually fly now! at the beginning of the smp, tommy, tubbo, ranboo, and purpled fit this description!

so yeah, as you said, certain plot points have changed due to most people being, y'know, Part Bird. basically, people can actually fly around now! birb instincts!! CHIRPING AND OTHER NOISES!!

sally is here because Yes. she drags wilbur off to therapy post-nov. 16th. she is 110% done with both dream and punz's bs at this point. she just wants to protect her flock, man >:/

wing clipping is. unfortunately still a thing. i mean, from what i've looked up, wing clipping isn't exactly Permanent-Permanent. like, the feathers will eventually molt out and new feathers will grow in. it's only be really permanent if someone were to keep doing it, y'know. every time the feathers come back. so...there's that! still doesn't mean it's absolutely horrible for avians though

dream has clipped the wings of at least three server members. you can probably guess who at least One of those people are and what arc it was during

fun fact! while it's still pretty bad for a non-avian to clip the wings of an avian, it's Still not seen as being as bad as when an Avian clips Another Avian's wings. because. y'know. that's actually viewed as being Incredibly F**ked Up! on Several Levels!

y'know what? if you want, i'll make another post specifically about Exile and the Avian Au Specific F**ked Up S**t that happened there

so...i've heard of like this 'death spiral' eagles do when they mate. however, my brain came up with an interesting idea for that in this au! what if was more of a...fighting move? like, one avian grabs onto the hands of another avian and just starts trying to get them both to spiral to the ground? you know, as a way of killing each other? basically, they spiral until one is finally on the bottom. obviously, the one who hits the ground first dies.

...so, fun fact based off the above point! sally actually did that with punz in this au post-final control room! basically as a 'f**k you for killing my flock'

...well, she didn't exactly win that one. but the point is that she tried and was angry enough to do that

tommy Really Really does Not like people touching or being around his wings. At all. if he lets you be around his wings-or even lets you Preen them-then that's him showing a major sign of trust on his end.

that's all i've really got for now! but yeah, i've put a lot of thought into this!! i'm proud of myself for this!!
