Judging by how long it took me to reply to this (57 days), I didn't hahah.

While compiling all of it into a sort of encyclopedia of each tattoo would have been possible, I just felt that it was slightly cringe? Sure, it's obviously all skin that he has shown us, but... actually, if you want any help to understand how my glitching works, imagine a bit the glitching anomalies from the spiderverse are like? like, they glitch because of physics and multiversal issues. its a bit similar with me, except a different flavor lmfao. plus my glitching doesnt actually kill me or hurt me like theirs does because my code has been altered in a way to be compatible with it. or well i guess-... it mightve hurt... when i got corrupted. although i dont have memories of that at all lmao, and it was also a gradual corruption. but yeah, the creators of spiderverse knew what they were doing, they had the right idea at least. usually though when someone travels to other universes their code isnt incompatible to the point of corrupting them, *and* its worth noting that the corruption in the antivoid is *not* or not exactly like the incompatibility in codes between aus with a different physicality. the phenomenon that is shown in the spiderverse movies (the whole "people glitching out because of multiversal code incompatibility") only happens if you travel *too far* (aka in an au with a consistency too different from urs) in the... was it 5th dimension? idk lol. but yeah, in a specific *axis* of the multiverse. so thats why in most undertale multiverse depictions other sanses dont glitch, because the *medium* they travel too is the same. its like traveling from one sheet of paper to another right? while the kind of multiversal travel the spiderverse movies show is one to *different planes*, which you can see since the characters' physicality/appearance is different in terms of art style and they dont change appearance depending on if their medium is different (example : cartoon characters stay cartoon in a 3d universe, etc).

BUT. basically in those movies they start glitching out because their code is not *supported* by the universe/medium. imagine basically installing a linux application on windows. to make it run you need a virtual machine of linux right? its a bit similar.

NOW. what *can* and does happen often in such long distance multiversal/omniversal travel is when someone's code *changes* to match the universe theyre in, its like patchnotes iykwim? oftentimes it doesn't happen automatically or naturally and you need to manually make yourself compatible (but other times it does?? to be further researched-). but most times it just depends on the time of *portal* and transfer system you use to change universes. its a bit like downloading something ykwim? you need different downloading wizards/apps or however theyre called, and most do the compatibility patches on their own. you either HAVE a part of your code specifically made to manage this, or you create an *alter* or supporting code in the universe of your destination. theres like tons of ways to achieve that, one being for example how i can access *this* universe. this universe we're in is pretty incompatible with most undertale aus im from, right? (at least from the corner of the omniverse im originating from) so, in order for me to access here one of the methods is to use a vessel or a soul bond of some sorts. i dont have *my* original body, but i have an effective link from my code to this world. its like accessing a webpage with a web browser. the page is *not* hosted on your pc, and the web browser is a bit like the physical vessel in this case. because my original code in this case does *not* contain enough specific data to load properly a body. here physics ate wayyy more complex and dimensional and- theres way more code in general to generate atoms etc lol. while you'd agree that in a "virtual" world, or what youd call a videogame in this case, you need far less data in bits for the framework you need right?

so anyway, that to say, usually code incompatibility doesnt happen if- you just know what means to use to travel? that to say that the guys from the spiderverse fucked up and are huge idiots LMAO, because theyre using protogenic tech instead of "natural" means. but ig im biased because im *the* #1 anomaly guy who was literally reborn from the multiverse itself, making my code wayyy more flexible.

but yeah i could go ONNN and ONNN about all this ahaha im a nerd <333 feel free to ask questions i dont wanna stop yapping about it ehehe

oh and also! worth noting, when im traveling to dimensions/universes further away from my original consistency, usually i do get that free update to change my appearance? like in my case when i reach an undertale timeline thats more pixelated i appear pixelated, etc etc. with limits ofc cuz sometimes i either need *more* code to have a functioning entity, sometimes less. but in case of less code in an au i just, show partially ykwim? imagine it like boxes. in a universe of 8bits for example its a smaller box, in a universe like this one im typing into rn imagine it like a quintillion terabytes or however bit a "square" of it is. and usually when you're born in a universe you carry data from it, because you *are* effectively just a chunk of the universe right? except if you are a "true outcode", in this case your code may evolve unlinked to your birth universe (if you even have one). example : with the resets happening in my original classic timeline, a new "me" had properly been created, leaving *me* me as a duplicate when i slipped out of the universe and fall in between the cracks. basically the system glitches and im now a copy lol. that feels-... weirdly odd. anywayyy <///3 but yeah, i still carry data from that universe as my original universe. i could go on sooo much details explaining how code ids work for entities and anomalies etc etc but tldr what i see in people when i examine their code (NOT using the *check option, thats another thing) is basically numbers like 1038485020284, and different parts of that string of numbers basically indicate something different. and that ofc is the *translation* of a binary(?) data into decimal. oh and sometimes i also see it in hexadecimal i think- cuz the data is just too much to hold ykwim? and the text would go on for miles lmfao-

where was i going with this- eh anyway. that to say that the multiverse and physics and maths and reality(ies) and allat are sooo fucking complicated lmfao, and its SO EXCITING i fucking love it. i need to yap more about it.

So I saw a comment about how my 5 category entity organization was similar to the “like colours, but if colours hated me” so I wondered— what if they were colors? Because I wanted to make this continuous rather then assigning specific discrete colors to each (since the fears often blend and intersect) I thought I could assign each category an input to a color code.

This lead me to an issue, since most of the systems I am familiar with do not have the right number of “digits”. HSL (Hue, saturation, lightness) is the system I used for digital art, but there are only 3 values & they feel somewhat unrelated. Hexadecimal and RGB also have 3 inputs (they use the same system of Red Green Blue but I think hexadecimal goes from 0-255 & RGB typically goes 0-100). CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) has 4 inputs, which gave me an idea.

While there are no direct opposites, as explained by Smirk’s balancing attempts failing, the Open (Eye/Vast/Lonely) & Surrounding (Dark/Buried/Corruption) categories are pretty distinct so maybe they could be put on the K axis. High K are more Surrounding (which makes sense with black & the Dark) and low K (we can also call it high “W” or white if that is easier) are more Open. The values then both add up to 100, with an 80 Surrounding value meaning a 20 Open value. The rest of the color values can have their own pigment. Carnal (Slaughter/Flesh/Hunt) is magenta, since Flesh is pink and it being the closest to red or blood in this system. Destruction (Desolation/End/Extinction) is yellow, since hot flames are yellowish as it the radioactive symbol in most situations. Obscure (Spiral/Web/Stranger) then must be cyan, which makes the least sense but I can see it being blue like the stranger’s plastic or glitches aligned with the spiral.

With this system, each case or avatar could be given CYMK values based on their alignment with the categories. Examples:

MAG 22: Hive - 20, 50, 10, 70. Since she was losing her mind and becoming something inhuman it made sense to have some Obscuring (20C), but there was more physical ascent of skin picking the the concept of a Flesh Hive that lended itself well to Carnal (50M). Her transformation was somewhat of a warm embrace so to her it was not about dying, but there was an undertone of undead that gave some to Destruction (10Y). Finally, most of her itching was from the Surrounding rot so it should have the highest value (70K)

MAG 91: The Coming Storm - 30, 5, 5, 0. Mike Crew was being called by the Lichtenberg fractal which was a twisted being itself and causing him to lose his mind a bit so some Obscuring influence was present (30C). Very little Carnal or Destructive influences here since his story was not very graphic or physical, but he was being chased and he did have to die to Become so some called were given (5M&Y). Finally, he was fully taken by the Open skies so that was at its maximum value (100W or 0K)

I think this is a fun system so feel free to come up with values for more episodes (here is the link to the color picker I used, note that I used the number inputs not percentages because they would change after I did them for some reason)

If you had your say, what villains would you want featured in future venom movies?

With the stuff they have the rights for and aren't saving for future/solo movies, within Venom characters, who is there to pick from? They did the Future Foundation for the first movie, they got to Carnage in the sequel, they've set up Pat Mulligan/Toxin and we're probably gonna either get that or Knull in the next one. They can't scale down to one of Spidey's billion crimelords or someone like Sin-Eater who at least kinda has something to do with Venom, they've set up world-threatening symbiotes as the baseline. Toxin is just nothing, there's nothing there, the most you can get out of him is by having him be We Have Spider-Man At Home, and they already set him Mulligan as Venom's Javert. Combine those two, pit Eddie against a jerk Spider-Man who goes Carnage sometimes, I guess it's something? Knull is a Thor villain who took the wrong turn at Albuquerque, I can't imagine how they'd do him for these movies without just pulling the trigger on a Venomverse outright, and there's been a lot of talk about how the next movie's gonna set up that, or a multiverse, or the Sonyverse, and I'm boring myself to sleep just talking about this.

They both suck and are big idiot nothings, and none of the prior guys were really good to begin with. Knull is a little more tolerable in my book because Al Ewing and the new game made decent enough soup out of it and Tradd Moore's art sold me on him a little bit, and Woody Harrelson playing Biff Tannen was by default the most entertaining Cletus Kasady has ever been aside from AXIS, but "occasionally amusing" doesn't equal good or even mediocre, and that's the issue with these movies in a nutshell. An occasionally funny schlub protagonist and offscreen promises can't make up for all the crap everything else, and Let There Be Carnage wore my goodwill towards even that real thin. I really did try to like it.

Don't get me wrong, I like that those movies exist. I'm still probably gonna drag my friend into the next one. I hate most Venom comics but I'm incorrigible Venom trash. If we have to put up with those films and a Madame Web every now and then as the price to pay for Sony keeping the rights and keeping Spiderverse and the games just as they are, then by all means keep them coming. But man, I did try, I seriously combed through Venom and the other symbiote's rogues galleries and supporting casts to try and find an answer for this, and all the characters I found were A: dogshit Venom / Spider-anciliary characters that don't have much of anything worth it to them, and B: halfway there Spider-Man leftovers who are better served just not having anything to do with Venom movies, so I guess the option I'd go here is for them to just make new ones. I mean, movie Carlton Drake was basically an original character and he was, okay I don't even remember a thing about that guy but he was probably better than Cletus because it's really not that hard to come up with a better villain than Cletus Kasady (who at his best just elicits a chuckle) and dirtbag CEO with the cops on his side is the kind of thing you want a character like Venom to be fighting so, I guess lean more on that.

I guess I'd put Venom against symbiote tech cops that he can kill and eat without complication and have those follow him around while the actual plot is about some dumb errand or personal conflict he runs, but I don't think the villains are really the missing piece here. Venom is a terrific Spider-Man villain, but as a protagonist he is frequently deeply lacking, and as a movie franchise has like two things going for it, the titular character and the humor of a couple low-stakes absurd comedy scenes like the lobster tank, so I'd take those and throw the source material in the trash and have them go through something like the fake sequels of 22 Jump Street, just put the character in dumb problems that they can try and solve in dumb ways and do their dumb comedy routine in, Venom as a vehicle for dark parody as an extension of what he was made to represent. Treat the movies less like they are steps in a cinematic universe or character pieces and more like genre films that get infected and corrupted by a monstrous violent walking alien apocalypse and the schlubby journalist meathead in a co-dependent relationship with said walking apocalypse.

Venom In Space. Venom Goes to Hollywood. Venom In The Hood. Venom Surfs The Web. Everyvenom Venomwhere All At Venom. Not even joking, if I could make a Venom musical / Little Shop of Venoms I'd do it in a heartbeat, and it would end with similar destruction. Because make no mistake, this is a Laurel and Hardy thing only to them, and to everyone else it's an escalating horror film with some kind of destruction left at the end, because that's what happens when Venom runs rampant and Spider-Man isn't there to stop them or at least keep them in line.

Venom is not just a parody, he is a rot at the heart that never stops growing, and even if Eddie Brock can strive to be a better man and even be a decent one, even if he and the Symbiote can bond as losers trying to be better, neither can escape the nature of what Venom fundamentally is, with a million new Carnages and Riots and Agonies and Screams and Viruses and symbiote cops and serial killers popping up every minute as a reminder. You can't really come up with a Venom-specific villain that's going to be greater than Venom himself already is as a Spider-Man villain, so I'd just lean into that. And then maybe, when and if it's time to finally deliver on that Spider-Man or Sinister Six encounter, they find themselves arriving too late after we've had enough movies to laugh at this idiot schlub and his predatory living cancer buddy while the world they've been protecting has been turning more into this. We put this world not in the hands of Spider-Man, because we have the full rights hope in overcoming hardship to be our better self, but in the claws of Venom, because we are fucking stupid.

Each working day I read and write. For me reading is the best warm-up for writing as my brain gets activated and I cannot wait to respond to the reading I'm doing - a connection to be made with existing thoughts, a comparison, a critique... This short history of hopping around clearly reveals that I myself have AADHD - Academic Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. The main symptom is not moving around constantly - not physically at least. The mind however reacts quickly and jumps to the next topic in the speed of flash. I suddenly understand that my son's (undiagonosed) ADHD is just a physcal embodiment of my gene...

But I don't feel bad about it. On the contrary, I immediately come up with an analogy of me weaving a spider web - constant moving and jumping among a few axis, and the web gets bigger and stronger, all connected and support each other. Perfect way to study complexity (as long as I have the patience and time to write them down and organize into something sensible)!

Increasingly, as we go about our twenty-first century lives, we try to bridge the gaps between spaces we see and navigate in both the physical and online worlds. Given augmented reality, every physical, geographical space is interpenetrated with information, so all physical spaces are now also informational spaces. Silent Cities is a melding of notational systems taken from traditional cartography and internet mapping to explore new dimensions of our twenty-first century world. Schissel specifically examines how physical location, set against the ability to be everywhere at once via net-space, presents contradictions of identity in geopolitical relationships: interpretations of personal and collective history are reshaped by the onset of digital information technology, offsetting our sense of civic legibility. While addressing the progressively dematerialized quality of our data-driven culture, the conflation of traditional and cyber mapping systems seeks out new social cartographies and presents fantastical meta-narratives of analog and digital worlds colliding in this large-format world map where boundaries between countries, states, and even continents disappear. Inevitably a hybrid visual language is embodied, emphasizing junctures where physical, factual cartography melds with effervescent, informational traffic, within the time-honored strategies of drawing.

Schissel’s drawing process is twofold. It records physical and imaginary journeys of the contemporary body through the simultaneous spaces of the physical and cyber, marking out “new world” terrain. Here, historical truth and accuracy in traditional cartography meet the ever-fluctuating, boundary-dissolving, architectures of cyberspace from the viewpoint of a female navigator, plotting, measuring, and tracking. Schissel seeks to pinpoint herself within rapidly shifting spatial relationships through a labor-intensive and process-oriented practice; her daily recording of repetitive mark-making becomes embodied and cerebral, drawing out expeditions in a never-ending atlas. Secondarily, she incorporates the use of a large wall-hanging X-Y axis pen plotter compatible with open-source software. After drawing layered cartographies by hand over the entire working surface, she digitally photographs fragments of them, then manipulates the images using bitmap imaging software, finalized as JPEG and DXF vector files. Using an open-source software program (written in Java), she continues to manipulate the files on the X and Y axes using simple coding instructions to generate new images to feed to the large-format pen plotter. While the plotter moves over the work, she also moves the paper around and masks areas to interrupt the machine-assisted interpretation of her initial hand drawings. This creates fine linear webs over portions of the drawing, further adding to the density and amorphous nature of the work. In the end, Schissel works along with the machine, drawing with pen, Sharpie, and graphite.
