Can we get (if you want) a cranky and DK father-son relationship?

Slowly working on my motivation to work on more Mario stuff, allow me to present the one of two individuals in my au with a legitimately good father:🪄

I loved Cranky Kong in the movie, but also in the games. I was a big fan of him in Donkey Kong Country Returns, where he sits and grumbles at you from his rocking chair while waving his cane around lol. I loved how the movie made him a successful and well loved ruler, you can tell he hogs the single braincell that hops around the Mario universe. His relationship with DK is also rather interesting; I wish we'd seen more of the dynamic. To me, it seemed like DK was struggling with finding his place in the world and who he wanted to be, and Cranky had his own ideas about how he wanted DK to act and behave. He let his son do his own thing, but wasn't shy about voicing his opinion. By the end of the movie, Cranky seemed to realize that even though his son is a goofball, he's still capable of accomplishing what's needed. Thus, Cranky decides to back off and just let his son be himself. With his dad's approval and blessing, I can see DK gaining more genuine confidence instead of relying on the artificial cockiness he puts out.

Various Mario characters in the style of Garfield! We have, by order: Mario, Luigi, Pauline, Baby Luigi, Donkey Kong, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Birdo, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser, Kamek, Koopa Troopa, and Ashley & Red.

Doing these took a long time, thanks to the amount of research and thought that goes into constructing the styles to be true to the comic strip, even going for obscure references like looking at Tammy for Ashley and cows for Bowser.

Koopa Troopa: You wanted to play as a villain character so you chose this little guy (or you really like turtles with no spikes on them)

Shy Guy: You feel socially awkward a lot and you want to cry in your room until the other person leaves

Lakitu: You like that you can actually see his legs now

Toadette: Same as toad but you are probably a girl or again a gay man

King Boo: You wish it was his Luigi's mansion design because I would look way more cool (I'd also probably main him if it was the L's mansion design)

Baby Mario: No matter how small you are you think you can defeat anyone

Baby Luigi: You like his baby design more

Baby Peach: you think she's an angle

Baby Daisy: You are very strong and people think you wouldn't be able to lift a pencil
