I do not understand how time works at all anymore, but here are some words that act as an update of sorts:
Vermont went with another candidate. I'm not at all surprised and am honestly a little relieved. Back to the drawing board. I'm so glad I put myself out there and learned the things I learned in the process. More will be revealed.
Is it a thing to wake up with markedly worse vision than what you went to bed with the night before? Because it's happening today and I have no idea why the world is so much more blurry than it was yesterday.
I hired the hot tree guy who helped me with some branch trimming a few years ago to come take down the dying Dogwood (sad, but it was in rough shape) and to trim up the branches on the sap-pissing Spruce by another 12 feet or so, plus get them off the roof so I can put the house on the market. I may have asked if he has a partner and when he said no I may have suggested we get coffee sometime then died of embarrassment when he only smiled and said nothing so I scurried back into the house like a mortified teenager. That girl still takes over my brain and voice too often.
I should have had that tree work done years ago, there's so much more light in my house now!
Tyler is moving out September 1 and oh my god this is huge. He's been living with me for six years. I'm ready. He's ready. This is good.
My memoir writing is really starting to take shape and it feels amazing.

This might just be my favourite thing I've ever drawn 😭
I can't lie I'd actually been meaning to draw Kylo Ren with Miss Heed anyway (the fact that they're both my favourite and have such different aesthetics amuses me) but this trend gave me the perfect opportunity!

Look the showrunner called Rogue/Gambit the OTP in an interview (er...before he got fired) so they're clearly going somewhere with this and it's FINE and I can be patient and wait to see where that somewhere is and it's FINE.

And if I make a full post talking about how Abby, Shannon, and Taylor were actually really interesting and compelling characters that were just wildly mishandled by the writers and weren't allowed to fully explore their own motivations or personalities outside of being a love interest then what?
This is a threat.

Kenneth Branagh's 3rd Hercule Poirot movie is coming!
Branagh is back starring as detective Hercule Poirot and returns as director for A Haunting in Venice from 20th Century Studios.
This time around, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh, Jude Hill and Kelly Reilly have been recruited for the all-star ensemble, with Emma Laird, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Ali Khan and Riccardo Scamarico also on the call sheet. Their character names have yet to be revealed.
Production is set to begin October 31 2022, Halloween Day, which is fitting since Haunting is inspired by the 1969 Christie novel, Hallowe'en Party.
That story saw the mystery set in motion when a 13-year old girl, who claimed she witnessed a murder when she was younger, is found dead in an apple-bobbing tub. The studio described the adaptation, written by Michael Green, as an "unsettling supernatural-thriller" and shared its logline: "Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world's most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets."
"This is a fantastic development of the character Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise," said Branagh in a statement. "Based on a complex, little known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences."
Judy Hofflund is back as a producer. Exec producers include Louise Killin and James Prichard, along with filmmakers Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg and Mark Gordon.

ok for the au thing !! i got Western AU and Dark AU !!
Thank you for the ask! I got distracted talking to my partner!
Anyway a bunch of this is yoinked from a book series I never finished due to it being a bit too politically conservative for my tastes (specifically the book Nowhere to Run) and I also spent far too much time browsing Wikipedia for locations. Not sure if this is what is meant by "dark AU" but it's late at night so
TW for some mild gore and death
Carbon County (MT; there's also one in Wyoming) game warden Jack Kelly was reassigned to temporarily work in Granite County, MT and he's finally almost due to go back to his normal post in Red Lodge. He'd left it in good hands--the Stillwater County game warden (Finch) and county sheriff (Charlie) have most of his duties covered and give him near-daily updates. But he'd rather be back in Red Lodge, where he knows most of the people and their habits and can use his friendship with Katherine, the editor-in-chief of the local newspaper, as an excuse to stop by the office and flirt with one of the staff writers.
However! The week before he's supposed to leave, he starts getting reports of disappearances and campsites being attacked and mysteriously murdered wildlife in Lolo National Forest, so he very reluctantly goes in to investigate. He has a penchant for getting caught up in far more murder mysteries than any self-respecting game warden should, so he's resigned himself to dealing with this nonsense yet again. On the other hand, despite the looming threat of who (or what) ever's behind all this, it is kind of nice to be out camping in the woods.
Jack had made plans with Sean Conlon, the game warden from the neighboring county, to separately make their way through the national forest (both on horseback) and meet somewhere in the middle, with the goal of covering more ground and hopefully finding more information about whatever's going on. But he's struggling to get a hold of Sean, so he resigns himself to investigating alone--he hasn't run into anyone so far--even though part of him knows he should turn back.
The day he decides to turn around, he finally finds Sean, accompanied by a backpacker with a mischievous smile who won't give his real name.
"I've been looking for you everywhere," Sean says. "We have murders to prevent."
"I've been helping," the backpacker says. "We have murders to prevent."
Jack is skeptical of the backpacker, but he's annoyingly charming and Sean seems to trust him, so what else is he supposed to do? They start investigating together, and the backpacker, who still won't give them a name beyond "Racer" and won't say where he's from beyond the UP ("What's that? The Union Pacific?" it's the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but Jack and Sean haven't paid enough attention to Michigan to realize that), brings them to a campsite, where they find a whole bunch of dead elk and also the bodies of a couple of the people who have gone missing. There aren't a ton of clues, but it's the first new information they've gotten the whole time, so they're feeling a little better about the whole thing. Being game wardens, they're used to seeing dead animals, but the decomposing human bodies are a little (a lot) unsettling.
The problem is, when they try to signal the local authorities with the location of the campsite, their radios keep running into technical difficulties. Racer seems unbothered by the whole thing, weirdly, but they decide to note the coordinates as best they can, keep going, and see if they can find anything else.
The thing is, Jack and Sean have been feeling the effects of all this time outside--they're getting sunburnt, they have scrapes everywhere, and they're definitely going to need a shower when they get back. After they find the campsite, they start to notice that Racer is as pale and clean and un-scratched as he was when they first met. And now that they think of it, they haven't seen him eat or drink anything the whole time he's been traveling with them...
And now they're in the middle of nowhere together, with malfunctioning communication gear, and it's been a week since they entered the national forest, and they haven't encountered any other living humans during that time.

“i’ve come back changed (i can feel it in my bones)”
lyrics from Meet Me In The Woods by Lord Huron <3
- @we-are-inevitable ✨
ily @we-are-inevitable <3
oh this is giving me like. small town childhood best friends javid. they've been best friends since kindergarten and have always known each other better than anyone else. they're practically each other's mind-readers.
and then they both go off to college. and it's exciting! and fun! to get out of the small town they always dreamed of escaping together. but they go to different schools and schedules get busy and suddenly they're texting daily but only actually talking once a week and then texting weekly but only talking once in a while and then they get back for the summer and realize hey. it's been almost two months since we've talked at all.
and davey has come out of his shell and made new friends and grown into himself. and jack has grown up and found a group of friends and is more confident in who he is and who he wants to be. and it's weird, because they've always clicked together so perfectly. but it's different, now.
they meet for ice cream at an old favorite hangout and it feels nostalgic but also, and this scares both of him, awkward. they've changed a bit too much for things to feel just like they always did.
and i think davey cracks a joke about some guy he had a fling with and how that was how he knew he was over his little crush on jack that had always been there, forgetting he'd never actually mentioned that crush to jack because to him it's something trivial and just a fact of life that he's moved on from.
but for jack it's like. what do you mean? because he went off to college convinced he was straight and that was that and then he went to a party and got a little tipsy and made out with a guy and realized hey maybe not so much. and he never told any of this to davey because he hasn't even finished figuring it out himself but when davey tells him there was something there at some point that maybe isn't anymore. it stings, for some reason.
they leave after summer break promising to keep in touch more this year, because the awkwardness faded after a little while of getting used to the changes but now there's this weird maybe one-sided tension because jack is becoming more and more aware of the fact that maybe he's always had a little crush on davey, too. and maybe he's jealous of the guys davey has waiting for him back on campus.
and maybe davey was just covering up the fact that he missed jack more than anything and is not even a little bit over him by joking about the guys he was trying to use as not-really-rebounds as he felt a friendship slipping away that he didn't want to lose.

charlie's comment on how mac's hatred of women later became a thing stemming from his sexuality and how both dennis and charlie need to do some self-reflection as to why they also hate women is really interesting to me, especially since I have come to the conclusion that charlie is probably asexual?
with dennis, it could definitely be a thing of either him being gay or he genuinely hates women and wants to turn them into skin luggage, but charlie hating women because he simply hates everyone as an asexual person would really be fantastic. we don't get that much representation as it is, so having just that insane pepe silvia white trash green man representing us would be welcomed with open arms, honestly.
