as someone who has never watched any of the episode of critical role that they’re adapting into tlovm it’s very wild to me that the show will drop absolutely banger lines like “you’re at the bottom of my list” or “darling, take off the mask” or “do not go far from me” or “take me instead you raven bitch” or “i was made to pass through fire” and then i log on here and learn that they were all originally IMPROVISED in the original campaign
when i get my hands on Liam O'Brien i'm making him pay all my therapy bills
like. LIKE. look at his face. the sudden surprise as jester invades his space and proceeds to RUTHLESSLY unravel and acknowledge his pain after the traumatic events of the day, the way he's so carefully tucked away all emotions and tried to move on without worrying the group. look how quickly the layers all crumble away, how emotional and vulnerable and small he looks, how for a second we see Caleb Widogast without all his layers. if i had any power at all to do so i would give this man a thousand oscars and then ask for a milion dollars to compensate for the emotional damage he has wrought me
I feel so vindicated knowing that we all read those many microexpressions correctly. Laura was really playing an anxious queer woman in love with her best friend so accurately that we couldn't help but pick up on all the little nuances.
She respects consent. Not just physically. But emotional consent too. She might make the most adorable blurbo every, one specifically aimed at romancing a character, but if the player isn’t into it she gives them plenty of room to back out. (based on C2 and C3, I haven’t seen C1)
Winning isn’t kissing the other player and having them accept it. Winning is having them kiss your character and mean it.

Side note, I gotta acknowledge how cute Laura’s “I know, I’m sorry!” response to Marisha’s “I made a dead lady who was unromanceable!” statement
it means that their session zero involved Laura sitting there as Marisha described their friendship and closeness and was thinking the whole time “I’m gonna make a Sapphic that is going to Pine So Hard”
And honestly I think she, as a player, would have been delighted to play the heartbreak of being rejected. To take that leap and fall flat? BAFTA award winning actress Laura Bailey not making something amazing out of that? No fuckin way.
