chengsheng picks favorties, and she's not secretive about it. she's also not secretive about the fact that when you're around, it isn't baizhu either.
living in liyue for as long as you have should've meant your body was used to traversing the constant air influxes of going up and down mountains and large rock formations by now. however, contrary to what you believe to be the case, your body simply did not listen. really, it didn't listen to anything you want it to do.
it was always something. lightheadedness, severe headaches, congestion that made your eyes ache, stiff and swollen joints and muscles, small scrapes and bruises from whatever tumble you may have taken. anything that could happen always seemed to be the case with you when you walked through the door to bubu pharmacy.
it took no time at all for herbalist gui to learn your face and name. even qiqi could remember your face with her poor memory. with your regular visits, gui first suspected you were faking your aliments. of course, you could easily see how he could come to such an accusation. even you thought once or twice that you were just overthinking things, that it wasn't bad... until it was, and your conditions worsen with no kind of treatment at all.
the first time you met baizhu, you were standing rather unamused- and slightly zoned out- from yet another lecture from gui on how you need to be more careful or else you'll make the pharmacy run out of stock. he should be glad that business is practically booming with you around. instead, he was laying it on thick today... not that you were paying much attention.
"ah, so this is who the mysterious person qiqi claims needs herbs so frequently is."
you don't think you'll ever be able to forget how amused he sounded from behind you. or the look on gui's face as his boss interrupts his rambling that definitely could look like berating to anyone who wasn't used to seeing him interact with your near-daily medicine runs. you should've had a kamera on hand for such an expression.
you'll never forget exactly how awed you were to see the owner of such a renowned pharmacy for the first time either. a part of you was almost skeptical of how young he was, but then again age never equated to intelligence anyway, so that thoughtless nonsense was easily tossed out of your mind.
"yes, i guess that would be me," you sheepishly told him. "my apologies for the... neediness? for lack of better words."
"not at all. what is medicine good for if not to treat someone? it's actually quite relieving to finally put a face with a name."
"qiqi sspeakss of them sso often i almosst asssumed they were another one of her missunderstandingss." the secondary voice that no doubt came from the white snake around the doctor's neck shocked you for a moment. blinking as if taking in the absurdity of it, you easily accepted that the snake could talk.
this was teyvat where people could be born hybrids, having psychical traits of of species of being. not to mention liyue, where you knew of at least two adeptus running around the harbor. this shouldn't come as much of a shock.
"sorry about that too," the silent- i think?- you refused to tack on to the end of your sentence was left unspoken but clearly seen in your eyes. was that something to apologize for? in truth, the whole situation felt quite awkward so all you could do was talk to fill the silence. the silence that wasn't very silent anyway.
you had since stepped off to the side so gui could talk to another patron coming to pick up their prescription with the babble of the city just outside. if you didn't feel it would be rude, you would've just left and called it a day- even if you hadn't actually gotten your needed medicine from the herbalist at the desk yet. he had been too busy nagging you to hand it over before baizhu's sudden appearance.
luckily for you, baizhu was also intelligent enough he could read a room.
"please wait here. i'll go and fetch whatever medicine you need today." you make a small noise of acknowledgment before offering a small okay as he walks behind the counter and takes a paper from gui that probably had recommended herbs and salves scribbled on it for your treatment.
feeling like you just fumbled the first interaction with the pharmacy's owner, you sighed and pushed a finger to your temples before going outside. leaning yourself on the railing just outside the building, you bore yourself into counting the steps leading up to it. always getting a different answer each time since there were so many. you were so invested in your stair counting that when baizhu reappears in your peripherals with a small drawstring pouch of presumed herbs, you feel yourself flinch.
"i didn't mean to startle you," he chuckles as you gently take the pouch from him, using your other hand to dig around for the mora you know you now owe.
"it's fine. i was too engrossed in counting."
"counting?"
"the stairs."
"did you come to a final count?" he entertains.
"not even close," you say as you place the correct amount of shiny mora into his palm while watching chengsheng readjust herself by slithering once around his shoulders.
after that day, baizhu was around more often when you would stop by. your semi-normal medical pick-ups soon extend into medical treatment personally offered by baizhu in the pharmacy's back room, along with prolonged conversations to fill the free time he could offer. it was during these conversations that chengsheng decided that among the humans living in liyue, you were her favorite.
she preferred you over others so much that when you would come by the pharmacy, she would immediately demand to coil around you instead of her normal seat upon baizhu's shoulders. she would only keep to baizhu when you were around if his chi levels were running wild and she was confined to her job of maintaining them.
today was no exception to her favoritism.
you had once again shown up to bubu pharmacy, but this time not for whatever ails you, but for your annual checkup. you never used to bother with them, but shockingly enough gui had lectured you one year about it- so, to save yourself the ear strain it would be best to just get it over with.
walking up the outrageously long stairs to the pharmacy entrance, you sigh and rub your neck with a rather lackluster greeting to the open space of the front desk.
"okay gui, i'm here." you almost sigh, like keeping track with your health was such an inconvenience. dropping your arm and raising your view, you see all three of the bubu population together- which was almost rare considering they all have their own agendas to deal with near daily. "wow," you start with a smile at seeing them all, "it's like a party in here."
gui shakes his head at your lame attempt at what he assumes is a joke while qiqi abandons her post to waltz up to your side and grab the fabric that hung around your waist; a habit she's developed since you've been around more often. you're not sure why she does it, maybe it makes her feel secure or something, you weren't sure. you don't mind it regardless. you always accept her small act of presumed affection with your palm resting on her talisman tagged hat and small greeting.
baizhu blithely crosses his arms over his chest at seeing how attached qiqi has become of you. he has the hunch that even outside of the pharmacy you were pretty well-known because you were someone easily likeable, but to capture the attention of his little qiqi? color him impressed. still, he was pleased you had formed a connection with her and gui. even baizhu himself found himself enjoying your company more than he did before. each time was better than the last.
"it's lovely to see you again," the owner speaks as he uncrosses his arms into a more relaxed manner of stance. "gui informed me that you can be rather stubborn when it comes to these kinds of matters. I was worried i'd have to go and find you myself."
"i don't think you would have to go that far. even if i didn't show up today, i would've been back eventually. then you could've tied me up and thrown me into a forced state of compliance."
"that wouldn't be very hospitable of a doctor, i'm afraid."
a small tug on your hip directs your attention downwards as qiqi looks up at you.
"doctor baizhu will be taking care of you today," she says slowly, almost lethargically. you blink a few times in confusion for a moment before nodding to her.
"really now? what an a honor." it wasn't often baizhu did things like this, such common checkups were handled mostly by gui. you wonder if chengsheng kicked up some sort of fuss about it? 'nevermind,' you shake your head and internalize your thoughts, 'it doesn't matter.'
"best not to waste much more time," baizhu says, rounding the counter and coming up to your side before replacing your hand with his own on qiqi's head. "run along now, qiqi." she's quick to obey and gui returns to whatever it is he does all day long. you're ushered out and soon back to the room you've been in thousands of times before.
just like normal, you sat yourself down in one of the two stools baizhu keeps at his desk. just like normal, baizhu offers you tea for your time and just like normal you accept. just like normal, he walks back and forth along the many shelves of herbs and equipment for what he needs for the day's work. and just like normal, chengsheng is slithering down baizhu's outstretched arm, onto the desk and then quickly up yours as you offer it to her.
"aw, i've missed you too chengsheng," you coo. she always hisses when you treat her like a common snake, but it wasn't like she was going to do anything about it. another perk of being the favorite.
"it'ss just nicce to not be coiled around a man who smellss like grasss all the time," she plays off as she coils comfortably around your shoulders and even curling up your head to pass through your hair. most definitely forming knots in her wake.
as baizhu comes back to your side, you watch as he places his required items down.
"it never gets easier," you say.
"and what exactly are you talking about?"
"how... empty you look without chengsheng."
baizhu chuckles.
"yes, well, it feels as empty as it looks." he looks at the pearl white snake around you, clearly nuzzling into you more than him, and he smiles warmly at it. "she looks much better wrapped around you, than me."
"uh-huh," you scoff, bringing your palm up to cup her head and lightly nudging her away from your ear. she was making your skin tingle with her scales against the small sensitive limb. "i totally believe you."
"i've never spoken a word of a lie to you."
you always applaud yourself for not absolutely losing your cool for the things that could come out of baizhu's mouth. the way he can easily say things that were well past embarrassing without so much as blinking was almost awe-inspiring. if you didn't know any better, you'd think sometimes he was flirting with you- but it was baizhu and he was always kind and polite to anyone. that was just who he was.
your checkup runs smoothly and even though nothing can fix your accident-prone lifestyle, you were still healthy and ready to take on more scraps and falls.
now, the hardest part of every pharmacy visit was about to commence. convincing chengsheng to return to her contractor without much fuss.
"chengsheng," you nervously say her name with a slight shake in your voice. she was always a sassy snake, but when she didn't get to indulge in what she wanted, which was simply snuggly laying around your shoulders for just a while longer... she could be a handful. "you know you can't leave with me."
she meets you nowhere with silence- not even attempting to meet you halfway somewhere. nope, she's leaving you high and dry. baizhu watches with half amused eyes, a hand on his hip and the other reached out to brush against her scales.
"what if i walked our dear y/n home? would you willingly part with them then?"
"what?" baizhu had never walked you home before, you always insisted he not since he was a busy man, and it wasn't like you couldn't take care of yourself. this opportunity easily hooked the snake's attention as she lifted her previously curled head and looked at her contractor- you know, the man she was supposed to be unwaveringly loyal to.
"do we have a deal?" he chided, knowing that eventually she was going to let you go one way or the other. whether it be now by him prying her off you physically or walking you home and having her come back willingly. her forked tongue flicked out before coiling one full rotation around your neck and up your head, so her reptilian 'chin' sat on your crown.
"if i must," which was chengsheng for 'yes, we do'.
so, with you and chengsheng waiting at the top of the stone stairs, baizhu popped inside to inform gui and qiqi he would be stepping out for a bit. qiqi had peaked around the open front and waved goodbye to you, which you returned happily before baizhu came to your side. his hand came to hover at your back, so close you could almost feel his palm but never actually touching, and offered you start taking steps ahead of him.
back from inside the pharmcy at the desk, qiqi walked back to gui's side as they both watched their boss walk off with you.
"qiqi likes when y/n is around," she speaks monotonously- but she meant it.
"yeah," gui agrees, watching both your heads disappear further down the stairs with chengsheng still clinging to you. "you aren't the only one," he chuckles.
chengsheng picks favorties, and she's not secretive about it. her contractor, however- even if he thinks he's being slick about it- cannot hide that he does too.
and wouldn't you believe it? all evidence always leads back to you.

Tumblr media
You are an amazing adventurer— visionless, but amazing nonetheless. Others had said (your people from Sumeru), that being a visionless adventurer is like a knight without its swords, but you have proven them wrong. You cultivated multiple skills, be it in the swords, in using polearms or any weapon it is, you had also cultivated your adventuring skills such as navigation and mapping; the skills under your belt are enough to pick up top tier commissions without any hassle.
Of course, being visionless means you’re more prone to injuries, so you have to always make do with passing doctors or medicine you produce yourself using wild herbs, yet nothing beats Baizhu’s medicines. You could still remember the day you first went to his pharmacy; it was raining, you had asked the locals if there’s any place that will tend to injuries and they directed you to Bubu Pharmacy.
Once you reached the Pharmacy, you could see a little kid behind the counter and almost cursed the locals for lying but then a green haired man, with a rare white snake around his neck, emerges from the back.
“I'm sorry but we’re close dear customer, you can come over tomo—”. Baizhu took in your haggard appearance, your green cloak clung to you; the rain drops below your feet mix with red and your alarming paleness were enough to make Baizhu ran over towards you, when your knees caved in.
Next thing you knew, you’re staring at an unfamiliar ceiling and you could feel bandages wrapped around your stomach, directly below your left ribcage where you were stabbed.
“Do you want coconut milk?”.  Your eyes snapped to the pale child beside you, her eyes expressionless. You were going to ask her what’s coconut milk when the man from before came in with a pitcher.
“How are you feeling?”. You draped the blanket over you, as you sit up. You shrugged your body, trying to get a feel and as you were doing so, the doctor examines you briefly. When you realize that your body feels much better you gave him your biggest grin and a thumbs up.
“Feels great doc!”.
Then ever since, you had decided to stay in Liyue. Of course, your reasoning was mostly on how rich, historically and, literally Liyue is but you can’t possibly admit that you stayed because of the quiet and handsome doctor. You made sure to visit Bubu Pharmacy every single time you have any injuries or illnesses and over time, you realized that you had caught feelings over Baizhu. He was gentle and you were obnoxious both in your volume and your incessant flirting, it was obvious that you like the doctor.
“Baizhu? Are you here?”. You walked into the pharmacy, and there you could see him sitting beside Qiqi, instructing her on how to make the medicine. The dendro vision holder looks up at figure clad in a green cloak he knows very well and gives you a smile, his eyes crescent.
“Welcome back”. Hearing those words, some of the fatigue straining your body were lifted as you approach the counter.
“Where are you hurt again (y/n)?”. He asked, standing up and leading you to the room at the back for his patients. You pat Qiqi’s head before dragging yourself to the room, where Baizhu sat on a chair by the bed. You sat down, taking off your cloak and show him your wounds, though they’re not huge and gnarly, you have multiple cuts and slashes on your arms and legs. You let Baizhu tends to you while you tell  him stories of your adventures. Every single time, Baizhu would listen, at times he would ask questions or look at you in disbelief because how the hell did you get caught in such situations, but most of the time he would listen quietly.
He enjoys listening to you, your presence brought him joy and serenity but he could never tell you. Not with the illness he has, he can’t let himself like someone to much or even fall in love.
But, you were so… loveable. Your flirtations were constant but you were never scared to show him how much you love him. He was also amazed at the fact that you’re vision less yet you’re so fearless, unlike him. That’s part of you that he envies so much, because unlike him, shackled by an illness, incurable and unknown, you’re so free and filled with life.
Once he’s done with his treatment, you rummage through your bag and took out a white string decorated with various colors of green stones. You hand it to Baizhu and he examined it, trying to understand what is it.
“Its for your hair”. You said, as he stared at it, the stones were beautiful and it glimmers under the light. It’s too beautiful for him but he knew that rejecting your gift would be useless. All the gifts and letters from when you remembered him on your journey were kept safe in a box. He smiled and thank you for your gift, making a mental note to keep the hair tie in the box later.
“Can I tie it for you?”. You whispered, a blush staining your cheeks as you gaze at him with those eyes filled with adoration. A pang of guilt reaches his heart when his mouth almost utter rejection. Its not that he dislikes your gifts, he was just afraid that the feelings he kept safe in his own box would burst open. He nodded and smile, as you give him a grin, and gently reaches towards his braid.
With a slightly shaky hand, you reach towards the end of his braid, unconsciously rubbing his hair between your fingers. You untie the one on his hair and with skillful hands, you tie the beautiful gems around his hair. Once you’re done, you show it to him and Baizhu took the end of his hair into his hands and inspects your work. His green hair compliments the stones well and he thank you. Feeling the heavy tension in the air, you jokingly asked him out for dinner in which he, time and time again rejects you. Telling you that there’s a policy he has to follow as a doctor, and you only laugh and nodded, though deep in your heart, you understand the ‘policy’ were merely sweet words.
Then you were off to your next adventurer.
It was another rainy day, and you were back from your adventure. It has been two weeks since you last seen him and you missed him so much. Once you reach the pharmacy, there was a heaviness in the air, as if telling you to be careful. From the counter you could see, Qiqi, reading on her little book, the notebook you gave her the last time you were there. You smiled as you ask.
“Where’s the doc?”. The pale child points to the back and you give her a pat as a thank you. You went in and there Baizhu was organising his medicine, you cough, indicating your presence as his head whips towards you. You give him a huge smile, and usually he would give you his but this time, he nodded curtly. Your heart stinged at his cold welcome but shrug the thought off.
“Please sit down on the bed”. Something is amiss because Baizhu would usually say “welcome back” but here he is, tending to your wounds silently, a somber look on his face. You tried making jokes but he only nodded while focusing on his work. For the first time, the patient’s room were silent and you could only stare at him when you noticed that he was not wearing the hair tie you gave him.
A sharp pain reaches your heart but you shook your head, trying to make excuses. Once he was finish, you thank him as he mutters a no problem. You palm the smooth gem in your pocket, wondering if it’s the right timing to give it to him. The thing is, you have to give him because you are going for a very long journey, a journey for him.
“Hey Baizhu, are you free after this? Let’s go have dinner together yeah?”. Baizhu stares at your smiling face and shook his head.
“Sorry (y/n), I can’t go. I have something to do”.
“Aww come on!”. You approach him, pulling at his forearm. “We haven’t eaten together for so long! Besides there’s something I wanna gi—”.
“Just stop”. Baizhu pulls his arm from you, trying to walk away. It has been a long day, rude customers and his painful illness has been consistently attacking him throughout the day. He can’t afford to flirt and entertain you right now.
“I’m sorry Baizhu if I was too forceful, but the thing is I have to g—”.
“Stop it! I told you I have something to do!” Baizhu raises his voice as you step back, shocked by his sudden anger. You were going to apologise when he turns around, face red and filled with anger.
“I am so tired of you! Your incessant flirtings are so distracting and I… I can’t afford to be distracted!”. He clutched his chest, hissing as he continues.
“Why can’t you just stop? I have an illness to cure and you’re just…”. Baizhu sighs, trying to control his emotions and keeping his anger at bay. He knew, that you don’t deserve to be the one receiving his anger but everything is too much.
And you? Your head hung low, lips trembling as your nails dug into your palms. You took in a deep breath and look up, meeting his eyes as you give him a forced smile.
“I understand Baizhu.. I’m sorry again”. You whisper as you walk past him, and out of the room. Baizhu could only see your green robe flutter away as he curse at himself. Baizhu’s hand reaches his head, and fisted his hair, frustrated at the turns of event. He needs to apologise, he thought.
So he quickly get out of the room, trying to reach you again but as he passes the counter, he saw a stone. A green stone, he recognizes as aventurine. He knew instantly that it’s from you and guilt swarmed him all over. The meaning of the stone sinks into him, along with the relationship he denied ever since.
---
Months had pass since your disappearance, and his remorse had attached to his heart like a lock. On the second month, he knew that something was wrong. You never took this long and even if you do, he would have receive a letter. No letters came, days and night waiting for your letter, for your fluttering green cloak; yet nothing came and after the third month, he decided that this time; he’s going to find you, apologise, bring you out for dinner and continue the routine the both of you once had, between a patient and a doctor.
So Baizhu set out for Sumeru, your hometown. Once he reaches Sumeru it was already night, and he believe that nothing good will come from rushing, so he check into a place to stay. When the morning comes, he asks one of the local for a place to have some coffee, and the local suggested Puspa Café.
The aroma of coffee reaches his nose when he opens the door to the café. He looks around, trying to find a place to seat when he saw a familiar robe. His heart beat increases, excitement and relief pumps through his vein. Without much thought, he reaches towards the robed figure sitting down and places a hand, startling the figure.
“(y/n)?...”. The figure turns around and its not you. “Sorry, I thought…”
“Doctor Baizhu?”.  Baizhu’s face changes into confusion, wondering how someone from Sumeru would know his name. He nodded, when the robed person, a lady in her teenage years smiles and offers him to sit.
“I know you! Master (y/n) talked about you all the time; I thought my ears would fall off. How are you, Doctor Baizhu?”.
“I…I am doing fine. I’m sorry but Master (y/n)? are you…”
“Yes, I’m Master (y/n) apprentice! Thank you for always tending to my master’s injuries. Master told me that you’re an amazing doctor and—”.
“I am sorry for interrupting but do you know where (y/n) is? It has been months…”. The girls face turns into sadness, the light she had, dimmed when she realize that Baizhu didn’t know. She stood up, confusing Baizhu who’s follows her movement.
“Come.” Baizhu in his confusion, follows despite his instinct telling him to stop. An instinct that he’s going to get hurt.
The girl lead him to a place where vast field of greenery feasts along his eyes, a single tree stood around it and a small house a bit faraway from it.
“Go to that tree, I’ll come with you soon, I need to get something”.
Baizhu nods in understanding as he walks towards the tree. He didn’t see it at first; the tombstone was covered by the tree.
May the shade bring serenity and peace for the brave soul beneath it, (y/n)
Baizhu read the etchings on the stone over and over again. Trying to understand what was etched and his brain had accepted it, but his heart can’t seem to fathom the thought that, that’s your name written there. That under this tree is you, that the (y/n), his (y/n) is gone. He had to held onto the tree, sliding down as his trembling hands reaches for your tomb stone.
“Master left you this”. The girl said, as she gives Baizhu a brown box and left him to look into the contents of it. Baizhu holds the box, somehow heavy despite the contents only being a piece of letter and an unfinished bracelet, one aventurine missing from it. Baizhu could feel his chest tightening, as he opens the letter.
To my most, dearest Baizhu,
If you received this letter then that must mean that I’m gone. Now, now don’t you cry your handsome face off! Only smiles and laughter should pass those lips. I’m sorry for not coming back to the pharmacy for so long, I was in search for these aventurines. You see, a friend of mine told me that these stones have healing properties and I thought that it would be great for you! Though you’re a doctor, I’ve seen how frail your body is and well… I’m not a doctor so I can’t create a potion for it but I’m an adventurer! Please wear them and I pray that these stones can ease your pain, albeit a little. Baizhu…may I call you my love here? It doesn’t matter anyways; I'm dying so I will. Baizhu, my love, you held my heart in your palms ever since you wrapped those bandages on my body. I’m sorry for all my doings that annoys or disturbs you, it was not my intention love. I am so sorry. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you all this in person but I am a coward and my body is not strong enough to travel back to Liyue, but please. Please Baizhu, don’t you dare blame yourself, you have been a light, a love though unrequited but a love I received through your soft touches and tender words. So please, live a long, healthy life for me and continue helping others. The letter has gotten too long, I’ll wrap it up here. Thank you Baizhu, I love you. I love you. I love you.
P/s: Pat Qiqi’s head for me!
Baizhu held the letter to his chest, his tears had long wash over his face from the beginning of the letter. You’re gone. You’re gone and you had loved him, and he knew but you… you never knew the love he held for you. He loves you too and he could only whisper to the tree of his love for you.
“(y/n), oh my (y/n) … I’m sorry…”. He wailed into the wind, the pain of your death triumph the pain raging through his fatigued body. In his tears, with a trembling hand he attaches the last aventurine onto the bracelet as he ties it on his left wrist.
And it was instant, the stone glow, and the pain he felt in his body dissipates, and he knew, that it worked, that though he can’t understand, but he knew its more than the stone. This final gift of yours were filled with so much love, it healed. He stares at your tombstone; a small smile grows on his face.
Yet why does the pain in his heart stays? And why is it growing? That will be a question that lingers along with him in life.

Of Weak Hearts and Lost Brothers
(This started as headcanons and turned into a full fic script.  As always feel free to write it, just send it to me after, I’d love to read it!) Brain worms I think is the correct excuse for this.
Sick!Pantalone, Baizhu and Pantalone are twin brothers, Dottolone, Dottore and Pantalone are both mutually pining, angst, a lot of hurt, a little comfort, TW: surgeries, illness, codependent relationship
Baizhu & Pantalone are twin brothers. They lost their home and meet very different fates while restlessly wandering the streets of Liuye. Baizhu gets taken in and raised by a more wealthy family looking for a male heir to their business. When separated from his brother after a fight about Pantalone's health declining, and him hiding it from Baizhu.
Baizhu remembers Pantalone's ill health throughout his stay and vows to become a pharmacist so when they reunite one day, he can help ease his suffering or even cure it.
Pantalone grows up lonely and works his way up, living a frugal life until taken in by the Fatui that recognize his skill for numbers and logic. Pantalone vows to get revenge for never receiving a vision, but doesn't know Baizhu received an answer to his prayers when in training to become a pharmacist.
When they meet again, they barely recognize another, it's on a mission the Regrator set out on with the Doctor, his partner. Baizhu tries to reconnect, and asks about his brothers illness, which Dottore up to this point has never heard about.
They part ways and a big fight ensues, Dottore wants to help his partner and either hear out Baizhu about a potential cure, but Pantalone wants to hear nothing about it.
While on their mission, the Regrator gets to observe Baizhu using his elemental powers and while still deeply hurt by the gods disdain for his passion, he decides not to burden his brother any further and agrees to surgery.
Dottore performs the surgery, implanting the heart of a vision bearer, however complications arise. He has to inform his patient that he is almost invincible once he heals, however strong emotions like love will cause him to grow weaker and could let his heart stop.
Pantalone waves is off and returns to work a few days later, not wanting to let Dottore know how he feels about him. He tries to keep a distance, but when Baizhu gets captured by the Fatui (on purpose, to see his brother again), he is overwhelmed by guilt and grows weaker by the day.
Dottore finds a job to do for Baizhu to keep him out of harms way, and admits to him what happened to Pantalone during the surgery. The pharmacist is heartbroken and plans to escape, as to not hurt his brother by seeking him out, afraid he would spark too many emotions and letting the other Harbingers see him vulnerable and incapable of performing his duties.
In the meantime Pantalone worries his time is coming to an end and appoints a successor quietly, while writing a love-confession/will before collapsing.
Baizhu and Dottore work on a cure, a medicine to suppress the symptoms, without too many side-effects, after finding him and letting him rest. They end up nursing the Regrator back to health in the end. Baizhu and Pantalone reconcile before staging his escape and return to Bubu Pharmacy.
Dottore vows to keep his partners secret, and Pantalone vows to keep his surgery off the books.

WANDERING THROUGH DUST - BAIZHU CENTRIC
Summary:
It is a wasteland.

You stared at the ceiling, made of brown wood, but found nothing interesting. Awake with nothing to do, you could not help but raise your left hand at the ceiling, reaching for something that wasn't there.
You weren't sure what you were reaching for.
But all you could do was stare at the ring on your finger. A thin gold band reflected the sunset light from the window.
You remember nothing. Nothing at all.
You were still healing; your body ached in pain if you moved too suddenly, even when most of it was somewhat healed. It was hard to stay still, frustrating as you tried to remember the past, as if you were trying to reach the fringes of the past yet barely able to touch it.
"You should rest, my dear." You almost jumped, startled at the calm yet disappointed voice. It wasn't loud, but after staying in the room alone for a long time, your ears were sensitive to his voice. "I brought you some food. Have you slept well?" the voice asked.
You recognized that voice somewhat, not as a voice that you heard in the past that you could not remember, but it was the first voice you heard after waking up in this room. Dropping your hand to the side of the mattress, you pushed yourself up slowly with his help. Sudden movements made you dizzy, which you had to learn the hard way. Looking up again, you looked into his golden eyes, slit pupils. His eyes almost reminded you of that of a snake.
"Y-yes," you told him, nodding your head slowly, which prompted a smile on his lips and a crinkle in his eyes. "Ah, that is good. A good rest is always needed when you are sick," he told you as he took the stool that was beside your bed and took a seat on it, placing the food tray on his lap. You had to think for a moment... What was his name..? He had told you before, but it had escaped your mind for a moment as you blinked owlishly at him.
“Hmmm?” He looked at you, tilting his head as if wondering why you were staring at him like that.
Baizhu.
Baizhu... you thought to yourself, a hidden delight that you were able to remember his name when you didn't remember much else. He... he was your doctor.
And the man to whom you were engaged.
He was the first person you saw when you opened your eyes, right beside you, sleeping on the chair with his head on top of his crossed arms on top of the bed. You saw the dark circles under his eyes and his pitiful state. Yet your awkward movements caused him to get up, his eyes wide like saucers as he held your hand, crying and pained.
You didn't remember much after that, forced to go back to sleep still too tired. But you remembered the shock and pain in his eyes when he saw the confusion in your eyes as you looked at him. The question of who he was looked like you had shattered him greatly, yet he kept up the act of someone strong. Asking you questions like your name and who you were, most of which you were able to answer. He asked you if you knew how you ended up here, but you didn't remember that.
He tried to be as gentle as possible with the news. Amnesia. You were out and about collecting herbs in horrible weather in the high cliffs of Liyue, where you had a slip and fell, tumbling down a small cliff. Thankfully, you were just smart enough not to head to the steep cliffs, for if you fell from the high mountains, you would have probably died.
Baizhu was kind... too kind, in fact, you thought to yourself, feeling nothing more than a stranger. You didn't understand his kindness when there were no memories to back up the overly kind gestures. Most doctors would not go to this point, to be fair, kind... They didn't try to see their patients almost every hour, every day.
But you also felt guilty.
Because even though you didn't understand the reason, there was a reason why he acted like this. You still remember the pain in his eyes when he realized that you didn't remember the time spent with him, his love, or your own love towards him. He barely covered up all his pain with a smile and his glasses, with the snake around his neck observing him as you looked at him with guilt.
You lived alone in the harbor of Liyue, having moved here and stayed for a long while now. Baizhu told you that you worked for him, with Qiqi collecting herbs and medicinal flowers for ingredients for medicines and remedies. Baizhu said that you were a hard-working person and that sometimes you would help at the pharmacy too.
"I could make some time and head to your home again today. I tried to look for your diary, but even when I looked everywhere, I wasn't able to find it," Baizhu said with a sorrowful expression. You had asked him to send someone to fetch your diary so that you could see your own past that you had written.
However, it was not found.
You shook your head, telling Baizhu that it was okay. Maybe the diary was with you when you were up in the mountains, as you sometimes took it with you outside. Baizhu looked heartbroken, unable to look at you in the eyes, as the proof that you and he were lovers, other than the rings, was gone. The snake that was wrapped around his neck was not there to cover up the awkward silence between the two of you.
You felt guilty that you didn't remember, unable to remember something that was almost like it didn't happen. Looking at his hand, a ring shined under the light from the candlestick. The sun was setting, and before it got too dark, Baizhu had lit the candle. A simple band, yet the same color as yours. You wondered what your relationship with him was like, how much you showed it outside to the public and inside, how long you had feelings for him, or who confessed first. You do not remember even one thing. Reaching out, you placed your hand on top of his, smiling at him.
You wondered if you should trust him. It would be awkward if not hard to start everything again, but if your relationship with him was real, then you thought that it would not be hard to bring those feelings back again. You remembered the people who visited you, Qiqi, who you remembered was a zombie and had a hard time remembering, talked to you in a way that showed she knew you. She would often hand you some flowers that she picked at the mountain, hoping that you would get well soon. Clearly, that was enough to tell you that you were at the pharmacy often or had multiple trips to the mountain with her collecting herbs.
Not only that, the people who knew you also visited, some friends who stayed by your side. While a little awkward at first, having a hard time sinking in the fact that their friend may not be remembered, many of the memories spent together, while some others were more mature about it and tried to help you whenever they could. They all said the same thing, though, that you were a private person when it came to love, but they were also not surprised by the ring on your hand. Some said that they noticed it before the accident but didn't have the time to comment on it before, as you looked very busy to stop and have a chat about it back then.
They didn't look all that surprised when you told them that Baizhu was your fiancé, as he had told them a little while ago before coming here. They also thought that it was highly likely that it was him of all people. They had seen you two together multiple times before, after all, though not announced as a couple, there was certainly chemistry there, one of them commented.
When you were finally able to go out, many regulars who had to visit the pharmacy often greeted you in surprise when they finally saw you. They had heard of what happened and could only feel sorry as they asked if you were alright. It was there too that people talked about you and Baizhu being together. "It was horrible that such a thing had happened to such a lovely couple," an old grandmother commented. When you asked them to go into more detail, the granny and older ladies all told you in enthusiasm of how cute the two of you were while they watched from the side waiting for their medication.
It was hard to believe, yet the more people talked, the easier it became to believe that you and him were lovers. Your engagement was recent, and you didn't have enough time to tell others about it before the incident.
Baizhu watched as you talked to the elderly who told you many stories of what they saw between you and Baizhu as you listened to them, hesitantly wondering if this was the truth or not. Other than the engagement rings, it must have been difficult to believe that you and him were lovers with hardly enough physical proof. All you had to go with was him and the people's words.
How splendidly did this work in his favor.
You see, you were never his to begin with. You had a lover who lived deep in the mountains, whom you would visit often on your trips. You kept it a secret from everyone. The only reason why he knew when it would have been difficult for him to follow you up high mountains was Qiqi.
Qiqi, after all, was very fond of you and more often than not tried her best to remember moments by writing them in her diary to keep. It wasn't him looking at the small girl's diary that he knew that, but more so a slip of the tongue of some sort. Whenever it was the two of you who went on a trip, Qiqi always came back telling that she had remembered someone talking to you often, also helping her get to flowers that were a little difficult to grab easily due to her height.
It seemed that you had started to take an interest in another man. Baizhu wasn't happy, annoyed more than anything that you had fallen for someone else. Changsheng mocked him for his frustrations, but was startled by his irritated demeanor. It wasn't supposed to show, and most didn't notice, but he supposed those who knew him knew that he was in a very bad mood right now and learned to avoid him unless it was something very important.
Yet before he could do anything drastic, it seemed that the archons had done everything for him instead. You just had to go to him in this heavy storm and hurt yourself. You knew of the storm, yet the feeling just didn't sit right with you as you continued to think about that man. Something was wrong. You left the pharmacy even when Baizhu told you not to leave.
How shocked he was when you came back very injured and with amnesia. Even if he was saddened, scared even, that you were in pain, Baizhu could not help but become a little delighted.
When you looked so worried, your poor, soft, lovely heart was unable to stand the idea that he was hurt when it was all a lie in the first place that he was your fiancé. Changsheng pointed out sarcastically that he was deranged in the head when it came to you. Too sly already, yet when it came to you, it seemed that he was greedy.
And maybe he was, when you were placed right in front of him, how could he not consume his precious little thing’s mind?

'How did this happen again?' You ask yourself as you accept another kiss from the man you knew as your stepfather. It feels so wrong, until you remember how your own mother is a cheating gold digger herself. Virtually your whole life up until a year ago had been on the move. Your mother would marry rich men who owned whole companies or company branches and either bankrupt them and leave or cause a scandal so they go out of business and leave. Over 19 years you’ve had a total of 10 stepfathers and you've never been really close with any of them.
As far as you know, the most recent one is the only one out of your stepfathers that has more than one source of income. He owns the only pharmacy in town while also working as a doctor. It must be taking longer to burn through it than normal, you thought, since you're still there.
You feel as if you should be grateful that your mother hasn't ruined it yet, because you've grown fond of life in this family. Your little sister Qiqi absolutely adores you as her big sister. Although your not sure if your mother knows about this, but your stepdad, Baizhu, absolutely loves being able to spend his money on you. Whenever you get off work he'll wait outside for you in the car with your favourite music ready to play. He'd drive around town with you for half an hour before going to pick Qiqi up from school. If you saw anything you wanted while driving, he'd tell you to quickly jump out and buy it with his card.
“Sweetie I don't care how much it costs if you want it I'll gladly get it for you.” Is what he'd say if you tried to protest in any way, in the end, you’ve just accepted it as him wanting to spoil you. Baizhu was very different to any of your other stepfathers, for one, he's making an effort to bond with you..... Oh and he's young, well, young compared to the others. At only 35 when they got married, he was 2 years your mother’s junior and 17 years your senior.
The 4 of you lived a fairly drama-free life up until tonight, when Baizhu came back home after dropping sweet Qiqi off at her best friend Yaoyao's house for her very first sleepover. He came in and asked you to come downstairs and sit on the couch, saying he needed to ask you about something important. You promptly closed the game you were playing and put the controller back, coming down to see Baizhu in the kitchen with a bottle of white wine and 2 glasses.
“Oh? What's the special occasion, Dad?” You asked before sitting back down with him.
“It's about your mother, (Y/N).” You froze slightly, wanting to ask him if anything bad happened to her. However, before you could speak, he placed one of the full glasses of wine into your hand.
"Do you know if she cheated on any of your other stepfathers, like any one of them?"
“Well I don't know for certain, but I've got a feeling she cheated on all of them, including my father.” You lifted the glass of wine up to the light and swirled the liquid around before continuing.
“Right when she leaves them, I found that either their companies crumbled, or they declared bankruptcy. Some less than 6 months after their wedding. It's happened way too many times to be a total coincidence.” Looking over at him, you saw a small sigh leave his lips as his eyes met yours. The low light of the lamps on the wall adjacent to him made his golden irises glow. ‘Oh fuck that's really pretty.... h-hold on a god damn second, that's your stepdad your talking about, dumbass!’ You quickly shook the thought out of your head and took a sip of wine to distract yourself.
“Why'd ya ask?”
“I saw your mother with someone and they were talking about how long until they can run off together....” You always had a feeling she had an accomplice her little scheme, but a whole ass lover all these years? Baizhu leaned forward in order to put the wine glass back on the counter and shifted to face you.
“Thank you for telling me this, my darling.” Eh why the lovey dovey language? He seems to be awfully calm for someone who just found out what a horrible person his wife is.
“Dad.... now that you've caught mama, when do you want us out of here by?”
“Hm? Why would I kick you out, darling?” Again with the darling! Is this really how fathers express their affection towards their children?
“I-I just thought since she's cheating on you, you wouldn't want her or her child arou-!” He's laughing? How? You thought he'd be annoyed. And yet here he is, not only not giving a toss about the current situation, he's laughing at it.... Why?
“Do you think I'd leave my cute, sweet little girl all alone without someone that loves her like I do? No no no darling. Besides, this is the best time to show you something that I've been planning this last year.” What could that be? You wondered. Come to think of it, from his plans for Qiqi's birthday party to things he's overheard at work, he's never kept anything a secret from you. He stood up and retrieved a piece of paper from inside a safe in the wall that he hid behind his back so you couldn't see what was written on it. As he sat back down, you managed to catch a small glimpse of the contents of the paper, you saw your signature there and what you can only assume is Baizhu's, both written in black ink next to each other at the bottom of the page.
'Oh! He must be holding the adoption papers we signed after the wedding'. You had another quick glance at the paper again before he folded it up and set it down on the table.... What?? You must be hallucinating because your pretty sure the words 'certificate of marriage' were at the top of the page. Hang on, if that's a marriage certificate, then why did you clearly see your signature next to Baizhu's?
“Did you see it, my darling?” Baizhu's words brought you back into the moment at hand, oh, that and his hand resting on your waist. The small gesture causing a shiver to shoot up your spine. “You’re my real wife. And you have been all this time.”
“How?” The reality of this situation hitting you like a boulder made your voice go hoarse, coming out like a broken cry. How was he able to hide something so big for so long? “How did I not notice it?”
“I'll be honest, I only got close to your mother so I could be with you, my darling. I knew what your mother was when I saw her, now she's the only one in the dark about it.” Baizhu's voice broke through the stifling silence around us. This is so weird, you’ve always thought your stepdad was a nice man, in personality, heart and looks. And you’ve told your friends about how you'd like your future partner to be like him. So should you go along with it?
“B-But what about the wedding night? Didn't you and mama have sex?”
“Nope, she ran off after the ceremony, I spent the night in your room.”
“W-what!? How the fuck did I not feel you?”
“Not when you've taken the deep sleep elixir I put in your food. I’d put it in whenever I knew your mother was going out for the night.”
“Oh, so that's why I hardly remember those nights.”
“Fuck, you're so cute when you don't know what to make of a situation, darling. I wonder what your reaction is going to be when I do this?” With no warning, Baizhu pulled you closer, onto his lap, and kissed your neck. The bold action made you gasp in shock. While you were distracted, he took the opportunity to catch you off guard again and kiss your lips. The kiss was just as he was, gentle and full of passion, yet demanding. Letting you know that although he’s being gentle, he’s still the one in control. He’s holding you so soft and tenderly, it makes this kiss feel like a natural part of life. Like your forgetting you two had a completely different relationship before...
That's how it came to you and your stepd- no, your husband making out in the open space of the living room. :)
'This isn't wrong. He's my husband.' You told yourself as you kissed him back. The grip his hands have on the flesh of your hips was so soft, as if he couldn't bare the thought of hurting you. Which, in a way, was true. He couldn’t bare the thought of being the reason you were in pain. As the kiss deepened, he felt more comfortable in exploring your body. His hands gently glide up your body before setting on your chest. His hands circle your body to where the dress zipper and bra clasp were.
As his arms pulled you closer, his fingers grazed the bit of exposed skin, making you shiver at the contact. Pulling away from your lips, Baizhu looked at you with love filled eyes and ran his finger over the neckline of your dress before hooking a finger on it and tugging at the fabric.
“My darling, can I?” He asked, rather breathless from the deep kiss. You could only nod in response until you find your voice. That was another way that Baizhu shows he cares, he was patient when you couldn’t get your words out. It was a thing you had struggled with for most of your life. And although it was a small gesture, it was something that mama never bothered to get right.
“Y-Yes daddy~” You managed to whisper a response, your head already felt dizzy and the neck kisses didn't help. Hearing daddy leave your mouth must’ve awakened something primal in him. With a newfound spark of lust in his eyes and a tightened grasp on you, his teeth grazed the skin of your shoulders. You reached behind your back to start unzipping your dress, only for your wrists to be pulled away and held back in one of his hands, while the other pulled the zip down slowly.
“Shhh~ darling, let daddy take care of you now.” An uncomfortable thought came into your head; ‘what if mama came back without warning to see her daughter, clothes slipping off, on her ‘stepdad’s’ lap making out with him?’ But don’t worry, Baizhu has a plan to deal with her if she comes back early. There’s no chance he’d allow this perfect moment to slip through his fingers again. After he pulled the zipper went all the way down, Baizhu started to gently draw circles on your newly exposed skin. The heat building up between your legs was getting frustrating, so you started to rub your clit on Baizhu's thigh to relieve yourself. Until he noticed and gently held your hips in place.
“Darling, I thought you’d let me take over tonight.. you know what happens to bad little girls that don't obey their daddies, don't you, darling?” Baizhu whispered, gently kissing the shell of your ear before continuing, “They. get. punished.” Taping your shoulder blade with each word. Each tap of his finger sent electrifying waves of pleasure down your whole body. You can’t help but lean into his touch, drunk on how quickly you crumbled under his teasing. One thing was for certain, however, the pleasure you felt was unreplicable.
“M'sorry daddy.. don’t punish me, I-I’ll b’good, please..!” You plead, hoping he’d be merciful on you. Since nobody can blame you for being needy. After a few minutes of drawing circles on your back, your dress and bra went flying off you, yelping when the cool air collided with your breasts. Smirking, Baizhu gave your hips a squeeze as his lips left a trail of kisses from your jawline down your chest, before latching onto the hardening nipple. Swirling around it with his tongue, he copied the motion on the other with his fingers, tugging whenever he sucked. All night, Baizhu had been focusing on giving pleasure to your most sensitive spots, like he already had a mental map of where he should focus on.
While your attention was taken up by the stimulation to your breasts, Baizhu let his free hand snake down, across your tummy to settle between your legs. One touch of his slender fingers to your puffy folds sent you jolting forward into his neck with a moan. Thing is, that one touch was only light, nothing much to most people. But to you? Mind-numbing. Actually, you don’t think you’ve ever been this sensitive to anything before.... it’s like your sensitivity to touch became enhanced. Could Baizhu have given you something to do this?
“You like that, don't you, darling? Good girl. Tell me, who’s making you feel this good?”
“Y-You daddy, s’you makin me feel good”
“Good. Fucking. Girl.” With every word, he swiped the pad of his thumb against the nub of your clit. Your hips subconsciously bucked into his hand with newfound lust. Like your body was chasing after his touch after he retracted his thumb. Baizhu's fingers ghosted over the outline of your clit, prodding at your hole. Easing the tip of his index finger inside while holding you steady. When your body relaxed, letting him know you were comfortable with him inside, Baizhu pushed you to the couch so you were laying on your back with him on top. The hand that’d been holding you steady now moved from your lower back to hold your cheek softly, catching any tears that fell over your eyes.
“Fuuck, you're clamping on me so tight.. I’ve barely even started with you, never thought a little foreplay would be all it takes to get you begging for me so soon, darling.” Don’t mind him though, he’s just being all mean and teasing you! He began slowly moving his finger in and out, slightly curving it to graze your soft inner walls. He added a second finger gently, stretching them apart in a scissor motion and continuing to touch places you couldn't dream of being able to touch on your own.
“Fuuck~ ur fingers~ s'deep!” It almost felt uncomfortable, keyword almost. The tender kisses Baizhu left along your body made any kind of discomfort you felt fade away. That is until a strange feeling came creeping into the pit of your stomach. A twisting and churning sensation like a knot threatening to make your insides explode.
“Ha~~! A-Ahh! D-Daddy, feels weird..!”
“Oh? A weird feeling, you say? That's your orgasm building up, darling.” His thumb quickly swiped against the sensitive nub of your clit, “Now be a good little girl and cum for me...” Your eyes peeped open at his words, only for stars to invade your vision as the knot came undone over his fingers and the couch. Your fucked out expression caused Baizhu to smirk in satisfaction, taking pride in being the only person to ever make you orgasm; other than yourself, of course.
“Good girl... ” Baizhu glanced down to where you both connected, taking note of how his wrist was now slightly wet... Did you squirt over him? Or was it sweat? This encounter certainly left you catching your breath.. Your body twitched sporadically as your walls finally began to relax around his fingers, and you sighed in satisfaction. Feeling you come down from your high, Baizhu gently pulled his fingers out, awestruck at your essence which was now dripping down his digits.
“Daddy... love you” You reached your hands out and Baizhu took them in his own, helping your sit up and kissing your knuckles softly.
“Love you too, darling. Cuddles?” He asked, holding his arms out so you could come to him if you wanted. You practically jumped up and slid into his lap, burying your flushed face into his shoulder. ‘Oh, you’re the type to get all cute and cuddly after sexual encounters...’ Baizhu thought, but that’s fine, he’d give all the cuddles you could ever need if you asked. You feel him gently smile on the top of your head alongside wrapping his arms around your middle.
Of course, with all that Baizhu’s done for you tonight, you couldn’t just ignore how hard this encounter made him. His dick throbbed against the cloth holding it back, simply begging for him to do something to relieve it.
“Daddy, lemme help, wanna help it..” You attempted to slip off his lap to kneel between his legs, fully prepared to help him. But he tightens his hold on your body, preventing you from moving much.
“No darling, y’can help me from here.” Baizhu reassured, moving the fabric that concealed his cock out the way. It bounced back against his abdomen, splashing a little precum over his stomach. Your eyes widened, you’ve seen dicks before, (in sex-ed class), but nothing like this. His dick was much bigger than anything you ’ve seen, and certainly bigger than you think you can take. Noticing your unease, Baizhu gently took your wrist and brought your hand to touch it.
“Lemme do it with you, darling... help me feel good too, yeah?” With one arm still holding you tightly, Baizhu’s other hand joined yours, guiding you in jerking him off. Even under two people’s grips, his dick still twitched and pulsed against your hand. Biting your lip, you lean your head down to press small kisses and kitten licks to his swollen, red tip. You looked up at him, still with his tip nestled snuggly in your mouth, eyes trying to convey what you want; for him to use your mouth like a fleshlight.
At first, poor Baizhu didn’t know what to say; he didn’t want to lose his composure and ram into you so hard that it became more uncomfortable than pleasurable, but the look in your eyes conveyed that you were actually begging him to lose it. He let out a long, shaky breath before moving the hand that had been on his cock to hold your hair out of your face. He didn’t even realise he was holding his breath...
“Tap my thigh twice if it gets too much for you, ok darling?” You nodded and began easing more of him into your mouth. He almost couldn’t think straight with just his tip in your mouth, but seeing you slightly struggle to fit him in drove his size kink mad. Baizhu’s fingers raked through your soft hair before setting at the top of your neck, taking control back from you and moving your head along his shaft.
Muffled whimpers and gags mixed with Baizhu’s groans made it easy to lose oneself in ecstasy, so you never noticed the small commotion happening on the other side of the door; never noticed the amused smile on your lover’s face upon realising the trap he and the millelith set achieved it’s intended outcome. Not that you were meant to know about any of this anyway...
“Sh-! Shit, on your knees, darling” You nodded and slid his cock out of your mouth to get into position, obediently for your husband. Baizhu rose from the sofa, guiding his dick back into your mouth as soon as you settled down. This time, he allowed himself the chance to thrust his hips into your mouth, meeting the pace you originally set. His thrusts started slow and deep, becoming more desperate as the pleasure built up.
“god.. m’gonna cum darling” Baizhu’s hold on your hair tightened, pulling at the strands that were wrapped around his slender fingers. He had to lean against the nearest cabinet since his thighs were twitching so much, his legs might’ve given out on him. You have to say, Baizhu’s groans of raw pleasure were a melody you’d never get tired of hearing. Baizhu abruptly pulled out from your mouth, gently taking your hand off from his thigh to place it on his heavy, aching cock.
“Finish it off, darling.. y’did so well, wanna cum on your pretty face..” You nodded and dragged your hand across his dick, feeling the way the large bulging vein running along the underside of his shaft throbbed with need. You leaned a little further up, enough to press your lips against the sensitive skin just underneath his tip. Baizhu’s grip on your hair tightened as his free hand grasped his cock, giving it a few languid pumps.
“Keep still, sweet girl,” He could barely get the words out before the tight coil inside his slender body snapped. Creamy white cum painted your face in spurts and globs, a testament to the adoration that Baizhu had harboured for you for so long.

Imagine an event where Wanderer, hearing of a certain doctor’s pursuit of immortality, meets with him in desperation.
Initially, Baizhu was sceptical.  Storming his pharmacy, demanding his presence, and nearly scaring the undead life out of his little Qiqi is absolutely not the ideal way to make a first impression, but Wanderer doesn’t seem to care much for appearances.
Before he can even enquire what this impetuous stranger needs, Baizhu is given the blunt question upfront.
“What do you know about making someone immortal?”
Baizhu called on the traveller’s presence hastily through Qiqi.  He needs a reliable witness to make sure this stays under wraps.  He doesn’t exactly trust this vagrant in Inazuman wear to not open his mouth.  He’s had enough visits from authorities.  This is just another thing he can sweep under the rug with adequate help.
Wanderer, on the other hand, is trying to stop his lid from blowing off.  As he tries to interrogate the doctor opposite him, he keeps directing the conversation somewhere else.  The traveller with their floating friend stand to the side, watching the back-and-forth.
“You don’t get it.  You won’t even hear me out!”
“I’m ever so sorry, but this sort of request is not something I can so easily provide.”
On and on it goes, Paimon even murmurs about nothing coming out of this, and it would continue that way until another person arrives at the entrance of the pharmacy.  Heaving breaths from a person spent catches Wanderer’s attention, whipping his head around at an alarming speed.  It takes Baizhu by surprise when he’s immediately at your side– and he’s so gentle when handling you.
It clicks in his mind, and he circles the desk to reach you.  In his ear, Changsheng hisses a question of what in Teyvat he’s thinking, but she gets no clear answer.
Wanderer keeps talking to you as you catch your breath, coughing occasionally in heavy intakes of breath.  The green-haired doctor picks up a vial and walks over to your pair, and gives you the medicine.
He says a word or two, something Wanderer couldn’t quite catch.  Doctor-speak.  However you look up at Baizhu and nod.  He smiles, calm and empathetic.  “I see.  I have the same condition myself…”
You feel Wanderer’s grip on your arm tighten when Baizhu asks your companion if you could stay with him for a bit for a check-up.  Even if protective of you, once given a promise that his request could be fulfilled, he relents.
Tumblr media
This event would be one where the Wanderer becomes paranoid realising his companion’s mortal life might be taken away from him faster than he wishes.  Baizhu, in empathy, feels for said companion upon taking them into his care.  A study on grief, and one with characters you wouldn’t normally associate together interacting.
The traveller would help out with small tasks for Baizhu, creating different concoctions.  Each time, we see Baizhu’s empathy turn into determination to include you in his pursuit for immortality, but the traveller will have to help Baizhu realise that he can’t just save everyone at once.
The traveller would also see Wanderer and his increasing paranoia grow, not trusting in Baizhu’s studies.  The traveller, with probably some aid from Qiqi, will help Wanderer view mortal life as a treasure to keep with him once it passes despite his fear of being left again.
A story of healing, grief, and love.  Immortality from different perspectives, and what exactly immortality will grant oneself.

Overindulgence - Baizhu
Author Notes: Happy (belated) Valentine's Day Genshin fandom! I debated about whether or not to write a Valentine's fic or not before finally breaking down and deciding to do so. I actually had a fair bit of fun writing this one. As per usual, reader is gender neutral. I hope you enjoy!
Type: Gender Neutral reader/ Fluff/ implied romance/ sfw
Word Count: 1121
Tumblr media
“What are those?” Even though I wasn’t facing him as I sat down the plate of chocolates I knew exactly what expression on Baizhu’s face. I'd easily known him long enough to know that and clearly picture it solely based on the tone he used.
It was the one that was usually reserved for particularly disobedient or poorly behaved patients. The frustrating ones who wouldn’t do as instructed and would automatically complain when the didn’t recover immediately despite not having done as they were told.
I was proved correct as I turned to look at the doctor with a smile that was perfectly at odds with his frown. But I was wholly unperturbed by the frown on his face as I gestured to the little chocolates on the plate, “Dark chocolate. I helped Qiqi make them.”
I paused, tilting my head and letting my amusement creep into my voice as I finished, knowing my next words would seal the deal, “She wanted us to have them.”
I watched as Baizhu pursed his lips, unable to turn down the little girl’s gift despite his general distaste for candies.
He’d dealt too often with patients suffering from a stomachache or some other sweets-related ailment to be fond of such foods.
“Where did she get the idea of making chocolates,” His tone sounded weary, but I knew it had more to do with the situation than actual fatigue as I sat down next the table that now held the candies.
“Yaoyao was talking to her about the ways that Valentine’s day was celebrated. I think she decided she wanted to make something after their conversation but then didn’t really know what to do with all of it so she gave some of them to us. She’s giving the others to Yaoyao,” I explained calmly, wondering how long it would take for him to give in and just accept the chocolates.
After all, I wasn’t going to be the only one pushing him about this.
“Surely just one wouldn't hurt?” Changsheng’s tone was almost judgemental as she looked at the doctor and I didn’t even bother to hide my smile as he shot her a look. It wasn’t common for Baizhu to get annoyed with his serpent friend, but it seldom failed to be amusing when it did happen since it was almost always over something like this.
“Did you know that dark chocolate is a very good source of antioxidants?” Baizhu looked my way as soon as I spoke, a smile slipping onto his face at my words. But they were true, and he knew it.
“Yes, but if over-indulged in they can lead to a myriad of health issues,” His eyebrows lifted and crossed his slender arms as he responded. Automatically picking up on my change of tactics and not falling for it.
I nodded agreeably though, humming slightly as I picked up a candy and looked at it carefully. After just a bit of practice Qiqi had picked up on how to shape and powder the candies quickly. And though she wouldn’t remember doing so later, I really did feel like she’d enjoyed herself in her own quiet way, and I knew Yaoyao would be ecstatic to receive such a gift.
And even if he wasn’t admitting it, Baizhu was too. It was just that he tried very hard to follow the same diet he prescribed to so many of his patients.
“So can overdoing medicine and other foods.” I glanced over, meeting Baizhu’s stare before I held the little candy out to him with a smile, “Balance is important for health and life in general. I know you know that, Baizhu.”
I tilted my head as he sighed, seemingly accepting his defeat even as I continued, “One or two pieces aren’t going to hurt you.”
He was smiling at me in an almost rueful manner as he plucked the chocolate from my fingers, surrendering easily just like I’d known he would when I first came into the room. Baizhu could certainly be stubborn about matters pertaining to health, but he was also pretty bad to indulge both me and Qiqi and could be quite reasonable.
He smiled down at the chocolate, chuckling slightly and shaking his head, “I suppose you're right.” He popped the candy into his mouth, humming to himself and nodding as he quickly finished and looked my way, with a proud smile, “She did a good job.”
I felt my smile widen before I nodded, agreeing with him, “She picked up on how to make it very quickly, and I think she enjoyed herself too.”
I watched as his gaze softened and he nodded, smiling more to himself than anyone else now, “Good.”
Changsheng watched him before letting out a sigh and shaking her head before looking my way, “You know, the balance of things goes two ways.”
Both of us now looked at the snake whose eyes stayed on me as she continued, “Too little of something can be detrimental to one’s health too.”
I nodded slowly, agreeing with her, but wondering where she was going with this even as I popped a candy of my own into my mouth. We’d already been victorious in getting Baizhu to accept his chocolate.
“I guess you're like that for Baizhu. If you’re away too long then he becomes useless.” Changsheng’s nonchalant words had me sputtering as I barely managed to swallow the chocolate without choking.
I looked over, wide-eyed, at Baizhu who looked just as startled as I was, if a little mortified while Changsheng continued to gaze at me with a now smug expression.
“We don’t actually know if it goes the other way yet. It seems like it's impossible for him to overindulge in your presence, though he does get distracted some-”
“That’s QUITE enough Changsheng!” Baizhu interrupted hurriedly, causing the snake to look his way in an almost indignant manner. She didn’t get to snap back, though, since he continued in a scolding tone even though he himself was most definitely flustered, “You’re going to make them uncomfortable.”
Chengsheng let out an unimpressed hiss, sliding down from his shoulders and to the ground before making for the door. Only pausing to look back at us over her shoulder, “Suit yourself. But you’ll have to talk about it sooner or later, otherwise we’ll have to start conducting studies to see if there is such a thing as too much of Y/n for you.”
She slid out the door before he could say anything back while I sat, dumbfounded in the chair.
Silence fell heavy between us until Baizhu at last recovered, letting out an awkward cough and gesturing to the side with an uncharacteristically inelegant smile, “Tea?”

A plethora of words come to Baizhu’s mind whenever someone would ask what kind of a lover you are. Really, you were sure that Baizhu can comb through the entire dictionary just to find an adjective and it still wouldn’t be enough. However, despite all that, what remained consistent was his constant praise of you. You are his pride and joy, after all. He was never one to shy away from boasting about you whenever he can.
You were majestic, absolutely charming, kind, clever, passionate, and the list goes on should anyone even ask about you from the famed pharmacist. Not a single person who hasn’t asked about you never knew how deeply Baizhu held his admiration and appreciation for you.
And when he can, Baizhu would most definitely show it to you physically, to make sure to leave a mark as a solid proof of his adoration for you. With every kiss, very touch, no matter how subtle or otherwise, it was something that he made sure was chockfull of love and care. And ever the charming man you are, you would leave him swooning at your equally gentle responses to his affections.
But even your hypnotic charms could never sway the fact that you tend to avoid an act that proves to be far more intimate — Baizhu quickly noticed (how could he not, when you stammered out and carefully tucked him in like a child the very first time you and him gave it a try). Though admittedly, it was rather endearing to see you make a poor attempt on finessing your way out of it, it still was concerning.
And even now as he sat comfortably on your lap, with your hands gingerly gripping his bare waist while you kissed back with fervor and hunger, Baizhu could tell the way your hands around him tensed ever so slightly whenever his hands would roam to touch the skin of your neck, down to your clavicle.
Both of you parted to take in the air that your kisses deprived you of, and Baizhu had a chance get a good look at your pretty face. His golden eyes softened behind his glasses, looking at you so tenderly that even you couldn’t help but notice and imminently melt from. You always were rendered speechless at times like these — when your beloved would drag you out to face the bliss of intimacy.
However that loving haze in your eyes was quickly flushed out the moment his nimble fingers found its way to unbutton your neatly pressed dress shirt.
Your hands flew to his, minding your strength as you smiled up at him, “It’s alright, love, I can go change on my own,” it was an incredibly weak excuse, but you’d rather that than give into your instincts at this point;
A frown tugged on Baizhu’s soft limbs and guilt quickly strapped you down, “Hey now, don’t make that face,” you cupped his cheek, flashing him a smile of solid reassurance. “I won’t be long, I promise. After that, I’m all yours.” With some limitations. Your mind gently reminded, which you so begrudgingly agreed to.
A sigh escaped through Baizhu as he looked at you with nothing but utter confusion, “I hadn’t intended to bring this up in the slightest bit, dearest, but… is there something wrong?” The sweetest concern laced his every word and it took every bit of willpower not to take him then and there. “I feel as though you have been avoiding acts of… intimacy. Though there is not a problem with that, but I think there is merit to you telling me what the problem is, yes?”
You nodded quickly, pliant and unable to resist Baizhu’s sweet coaxing. “Ah… there’s no problem, it’s just…” you trailed off, your words quickly clogging your throat.
You tore your eyes away quickly and ended up looking down, looking at the way your lover’s chest heaved, resisting the carnal urge to just tear his clothes open and ravage him. You of all people craved Baizhu’s touch, but continuously refrained because you feared having to hurt him in the middle of such an intimate act. And you’d rather not engage in it, than have your dearest boyfriend associate some form of pain in such an activity that only sought to bring pleasure.
Baizhu quickly noticed your hesitance, following your gaze as he made you look back up at him, “Just…?” He pried further.
Your hands grasped at his body, lightly squeezing his supple waist. Baizhu instinctively went closer, almost pressing himself up against you with need, “Just… I don’t want to hurt you.” You always treated him as though he was someone that could break, and you weren’t going to start now just so you can feel good. “But it doesn’t particularly bother me. I don’t mind it.”
“Oh dear, that’s what got you all twisted?” Baizhu softly tuts, cooing at you before peppering your face with tiny pecks, “Well, I don’t particularly mind either. I trust that you wouldn’t even do such a thing to me. You treat me so well, [Name]… I couldn’t even imagine a single scenario where I would get hurt in your company.”
You could slowly feel what little bit of restraint that you had on you slipping, Baizhu was willingly offering himself to you, trusting you so openly and you couldn’t even do that. No. It was your control that you never had much confidence in.
But if your lovely partner holds a far higher expectation from you, then who are you to disappoint?
Soft and quiet gasps weaseled out of Baizhu’s swollen and lightly bruised kissed lips, filling the room with delectable mewls that almost sent you into overdrive. He writhed against the plush mattress of your shared bed, grasping onto the sheets with the tightest grip that he could muster.
It felt all too good, feeling the way your long slender fingers prodding within his walls. Baizhu squirmed, but your firm yet gentle grip on the dip of his waist refrained him from running away, leaving him completely intoxicated at the sensation. He can only imagine just how much better it would feel if you finally replaced those modest fingers of yours with something far more enticing.
“H-Hah~ More, [Name], more, ” Baizhu whimpered, completely breathless as his hips jolted up when your fingers brushed up against his prostate. His knees felt weak in an instant and that look in your eyes was all the more alluring.
Your ministrations were gentle, careful, and incredibly precise. Even with the green light he had given, you still made an effort to just as cautious in the first place — you felt through the entire thing, eyes gleaming with concentration as you looked at your lover’s flushed pretty face for any form of discomfort, determined to call it off if he so much as contorts his face into a look of pain.
But even that did little to quell the needy monster that festered within you, showing you how truly desperate it was by the way every moan that echoed through the room from your lover had your cock twitching with an aching need to be enveloped by his warmth. You bit your lip in anticipation, adding in a third finger while you continued to prepare him so meticulously, handling him so gingerly that you were even remotely afraid to break him just by this.
“Just a little more, ‘Zhu,” you whispered, contained and reassuring, almost hissing in absolute delight when you felt him dig his nails into your arms, determined to keep himself still despite the waves of pleasure that you brought to him.
“Love, please,” Baizhu begs through a shaky voice, “I need you now…”
You stopped, as a look of hesitance crossed your features, “As much as I’d love to as well, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I don’t want to—”
“You won’t,” Baizhu interjected quick, his tone leaning into desperation. With the way he clutched onto your arm, squeezing it with reassurance, and the way his golden eyes shone so earnestly, you couldn’t even muster an ounce of will to resist it. “I will tell you if it’s too much… sound good?”
You broke out in a small smile, chuckling a little, “How odd is it that when I’m supposed to be comforting you, you’re the one who does it for me instead.”
“Not too odd,” Baizhu shared the fondness with a grin before poking your forehead, “It’s how this relationship works, y’know. Now, please… I believe I’ve been waiting for far too long, hm?”
“I’ll make it worth your while then.”
A sensation of pure pleasure ran down Baizhu’s spine when you pulled your fingers out, his entrance clenching so greedily, so incredibly in need of you. You never once pegged for your beloved to be so needy in the first place, but you figured you’ve strung him along for far too long that he deserved to have his demands met even just for the night.
You shifted around as you positioned yourself in between his legs, grabbing hold of his thighs to spread them apart. He looked so delicate like this, looking at you with so much anticipation with a haze of lust swirling between those naturally coy eyes of his. You couldn’t help but squeeze his thighs a little when your gaze drifted downwards. Your lover, by all means, was not small, but the sight of him being dwarfed by you was enough to set you in motion.
You threw him a cautionary glance one last time, but all he had to do was give you a nod and a reassuring smile before finally letting yourself loose, lathering your erection a generous amount of lube. You swiftly lined yourself up within his entrance, the tip of your cock lightly brushing against his quivering entrance.
“So erotic, ‘Zhu,” you murmured, but it was loud enough for Baizhu to hear. “Now I wonder just what have you been doing before all this.” You watched as Baizhu covered his mouth with the back of his hand, looking away just a tad bit to not meet your piercing gaze, “Oh? Does that imply that you’ve done something in the first place?”
Baizhu could only shake his head in protest and denial. He could never do such a thing, not when you’re not with him, at least. But if he was being honest, you are partly to blame for making him feel so flustered in the first place.
You pressed a quick kiss on his temple, “Ready?” You whispered, sweet and considerate, and Baizhu could only meekly nod, bracing himself.
His face contorts into a mild wince the very moment you ease yourself inside him, little by little as you test the waters. But Baizhu endured the slight discomfort, his toes curling at the sheer girth that he had to take in. A quiet wail was drawn out from him, hips rolling already for more and you were far more happy to oblige.
You wrapped his legs around you and thrusted the rest of you inside, indulging in your beloved’s most delectable noises.
“So tight,” you hissed through your teeth, eyes almost rolling to the back of your head at the way Baizhu’s walls hugged your cock tight, clenching around you even tighter, ready to milk you dry for days on end. You looked at your lover, “How does it feel? Does it hurt?”
Ragged breathing was all you heard from the man underneath you before laughing a little, “Not so much…” you could only sigh as Baizhu continued to try and regain his breathing.
“Love we’ve barely started, how are you already so spent?”
“Give me some considerations, at least…” he took a big gulp of air. “I feel like you punched the air out of me.”
You snickered, brushing back his fringe away from his forehead damp with sweat before sneaking in another tender kiss, “Let’s hope that doesn’t actually come into fruition or this will never happen again.” You shifted a little, prompting your partner to squirm at the sensation.
He felt so full — stuffed to the brim with your cock and despite the initial discomfort, Baizhu found himself getting obsessed at the very feeling. There was something so alluring at the feeling of just being full of you. You truly are worth the wait. On top of that, still being so considerate of his condition? No one else can get better than you, Baizhu thinks.
The stillness was disrupted when Baizhu finally urged you to move.
You started with slow, languid thrusts, finding yourself completely entranced and mesmerized by the adorable noises that you never knew your lover was even capable of in the first place. You loved the way his gummy walls clenched around your cock, enveloping you into a warmth that can render you completely senseless. It felt good, so, so good to finally be inside him after holding back for so long, and much like you were to Baizhu, you find yourself caving into the fact that he was also worth the wait.
Caging him in, you placed your hands behind his head, cushioning it as you draped yourself over him without too much force. You needed as much contact as you could after depriving yourself from this feeling, and with the way Baizhu seemed to cave into your form, fitting in perfectly like he was molded to complement you told you he felt the same thing.
Your hips moved with a steady pace, and you relished in the strangled gasps that Baizhu would emit, his mouth conjuring the most pornographic moans, the sweetest sighs and pleas right next to your ear as you laid your head on his shoulder.
And Baizhu could only jolt with every deep thrust, his mind numbing at the feeling of you burrowed so deep inside him, hitting all the right spot.
“H-Hah… you feel so good, baby boy,” you huffed, already mouthing at the juncture of his neck, eager to bite and leave a mark.
“F-Faster, please~!”
A girlish moan squeezes out of your lover’s mouth when you quickly oblige, picking up the pace with an equally consistent deep thrusts that reached the deepest parts within him. Baizhu’s mind was muddled with a haze of pure lust with every time your cock would hit that sweet spot of his, making him clench harder, almost keeping you in place as he licked up the pleasurable feeling.
Suddenly, the intricate touches turned sloppy, haphazard in feeling. Baizhu’s trembling hands clawed into your broad back as he tried to ground himself in reality before he could even get lost in more waves of unadulterated euphoria. Tears pricked at the ends of his eyes as his weeping cock also rubbed up against your abdomen with every move you make, smearing precum on your skin.
Baizhu’s eyes screwed shut — he knows he promised to tell you when it feels too much, but surely this was an exception? He chants your name like a mantra, mixing in with his breathless pleading with every second, you hissed at his nails scratching against the skin of your back before moving even faster, throwing the one rule you’ve made with reckless abandon.
Intensity wafted within the room the room growing hotter, the delectable sinful sounds bouncing off the walls was only something Baizhu could hope not a single neighbor of yours can hear.
You thrusted with fervor, with a pace so brutal that your lover’s body shudders. Baizhu wasn’t even sure at this point if he came — far too fucked out of his mind to comprehend things, all he could do was hold onto you for dear life while you devoured him whole. Cries spilled from his mouth, antagonizing your low, pleased grunts, the bed creaked with every movement as pleasure overtook both of your senses.
“[Name]— I-I— I’m close…!” A wanton squeal interrupts Baizhu’s poor attempt at a warning the moment you took his cock in your hand, squeezing it before pumping him with a pace that could match your thrusts.
“C’mon baby,” you rasped, completely out of breath, but even that was nothing compared to Baizhu, who so desperately tried to catch up with you. “Cum for me, love. Come on.”
And your lover obliges, unable to even hold back as he arches his back up, convulsing when he came, spending himself into your hand with little to no restraint. But even he had barely any chance to catch his breath when you finally focused on your own pleasure, hand leaving his limp cock as you held his hips with a bruising grip.
Archons, poor Baizhu’s legs almost gave out the moment you reached your climax, spilling yourself inside him with the intent to fill him up to the brim.
Hah… So full… His legs soon fell from around your waist, hips still in tremors as he slowly took in the warmth your seed gave him.
The room was silent, save for both of you trying to regain your breathing and some sanity.
Your mind was clouded while you indulged in the high of your orgasm, only looking at Baizhu and how the bedside lamp in your dim room managed to illuminate his best features despite what you just did to him.
You smiled a little, reaching a hand to wipe away some sweat that dotted your lover’s forehead, “You okay?” And in just that question, in an instant the feverish monster in bed dissipated as your gentle visage entered Baizhu’s vision.
He took your hand and kissed it with an equally pleased smile, “Very much…”
The both of you basked in each other’s company as the lamp flickered through the dim room.
You dipped down and gave him a quick peck on the lips, “I’ll go get some towels.” You whispered against the corner of his lips before getting up, only to be stopped by your beloved instead.
“Maybe later…?” Baizhu pleads with an endearingly hopeful smile.
You nodded.
“…Maybe later.”

it was snowing in liyue. a rare occurrence, but a welcomed one. though, with it, came the cold. a harsh, biting frost that no-one was prepared for. well. no-one except one. your beloved doctor knew of the dangers of winter and made sure to stock up on medicines for all sorts of illnesses. what he didn’t plan for was his own partner getting sick.
after tending to his patients for the day, baizhu returned to your cosy home. the hours had dragged for him and he couldn’t wait to see his love again. entering your shared house, he let out a sigh of relief at the warmth. removing his coat and shoes, he made his way into the living room. there he found you, his beloved, asleep and wrapped in many blankets along with his dear changsheng under a smaller blanket near you. the fire was blazing, its shadows flickering on the nearby walls. he quietly walked towards you and placed a small kiss on your forehead, then moved to the kitchen to prepare you both some dinner.
not too long later he had prepared a creamy soup plated up and ready for you, along with your medicine and some candied fruits to help with the bad medicinal taste. he carried them into the room, placing them on a small table nearby. he gently awoke you, careful not to startle your sick form. you let out some sniffles as your bleary eyes met his, and he opened his arms for you to shuffle into. with your head pressed into his neck, he made sure the blankets were secure around you.
“亲爱的, when you’re wrapped in these blankets, you’re like a special christmas gift, all for me.” you let out a hum of acknowledgment, aware of your gift-like state. you wanted to say that you were wrapped with love just for him but couldn’t find the strength to speak. that’s alright though. you know that baizhu knows you’re all his, just as he is yours. besides, he would want you to save your strength and recover over anything else.
not wanting the soup to get cold, baizhu carefully feeds you the meal. he takes his time feeding you, so none of it spills but also so you have the time to eat. after every spoon, he places kisses to your face: cheeks, temple, nose and eyelids. all of them gentle and filled with love. once the soup is gone, he makes sure you take the medicine and rewards you with the candied fruits afterwards. with dinner and medicine out of the way, you spend the rest of the evening basking in each others presence, enjoying the warmth from the fire and each other.
it may be winter, but with your darling doctor around, you know you’ll be treated with all the love and patience and patient could want. <3

Aight theory time for genshin!!! Spoilers for Chenyu Vale lore and world quests.
So I finished the main world quest inChenyu Vale yesterday and explored parts of it today. Here are my theories centered around the Herblord and Changsheng.
First off disclaimers and take this with a grain of salt.
Now in the world quest Fujin (Carp Adepti) asked for your help in regards to the soil and water in Chenyu Vale. During the quest you will learn about her, Lingyuan the Suanni beast, and Herblord a white snake. During the quest Herblord is not referred to any other names so we do not know who she is. Or do we?
In Baizhu's story quest cutscene there was a doctor who once went to Chenyu Vake in search of the Herblord and found only a white snake who gave him a contract. That snake turned out to be Changsheng. Herblord is someone who is famed when it came to medicine and so is Changsheng, it was also said during Baizhu SQ that Changsheng was once very powerful and yet her memories were not as good as it once was. So the theory here is that Changsheng = Herblord.
There are many points that also supports this theory.
During exploration I came across notes that is written by Herblord and her personality is quite like Changsheng's
In the world quest you will come across a mural of Fujin and Herblord with Herblord having a similar appearance to Changsheng
Xiao seems to know who Changsheng is and wants to say something to her during Baizhu SQ. This aligns with the fact that during the Archon war Fujin and Changsheng are serving another God who is an enemy of Rex Lapis.
But I do have another theory. It is that Changsheng is not Herblord but rather, someone who is FROM her. The basis of that theory is this convo with Lingyuan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe that IF Changsheng is not Herblord then she is the one referenced by Lingyuan here.
And that's it. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk and hope my mental health good luck because I am losing my mind in Chenyu Vale.

w.count: 1.9k - y/n is implied to have hair long enough to pull back, you know that one hairstick scene in apothecary diaries? yeahhh :))
Tumblr media
"do your arms ever get sore from doing your hair like that?"
the sudden question caught baizhu off guard. you were sitting at his desk early in the morning as he was still getting himself up, around and ready. he had asked you to stop by the pharmacy before your day began since you were planning to head out towards mondstadt for a commission that could take up to a weeks' time.
you felt bad coming by so early, especially if you would be waking him up (lord knows he doesn't get enough rest as much as he insists he does). still, despite your worries, he insisted.
it was rare to see him with his long, green hair loose without any ties or his two-pronged hair stick. it was even longer without it being styled, hanging close to the back of his knees. on top of that, he still hadn't put on his glasses, so with his face bare of his 'eyes' and framed by his hair- well, it was a very rare baizhu to witness.
chengsheng was still curled up asleep on a small cushion that sat on top of a stool that stayed near baizhu's bed. as opposed to her morning person of a contractor, she was no morning snake.
as you sit and wait for him to start lecturing you on what herbs or slaves to use and when to use them before packing them away for you- he began tying his hair. watching him pull his front hair back into the bun that would always be perfect and securing it with his double-pronged hair stick, your mouth just starts before you can stop it.
chuckling, he lowers his arms and brushes a few strands of his long hair off his shoulder.
"no i can't say that they do. i've dealt with it long enough my arms are used to it."
fussing with your own hair by twirling a piece around your finger, you shudder at the thought of all the tangles or knots he must experience on a day-to-day basis before he tames it all.
"even if i did feel soreness, i can't simply leave it down now can i?"
you nod along to his point. it would be pretty bad if a pharmacist left his hair down and let it get in the way of his work. not to mention it just wasn't a good look as a doctor. no one wants to get medicine with the bonus addition of green hair.
after properly securing the hair stick in place, he pulls the long strands that are left over his shoulder and starts dividing them into sections for his braid. he did it effortlessly, hardly tangling at all due to practice; his eyes even closed for a while like he found it relaxing!
once he was finished, he could tell you weren't exactly paying attention to reality anymore and your mind was wandered off somewhere else away from him. it was easy for baizhu to read you- you were a pretty expressive person; at least around him. with his hair finished, he slides his glasses over his eyes and lets out a small deflation of relief at finally being able to see properly.
you finally came back to him when he sets a small, drawstring sack that was easily able to attach to your belt in front of your elbow that rested on his desk.
after coming back from your thoughts, you jolted at how close he had gotten. bent at the waist to get a better look at your face as his arm that dropped the sack moved to rest behind his back. baizhu was a man who values undivided attention when conversing and eye contact alone means more to him than most people. it makes him feel respected despite his frail constitution.
although, he admits a small piece of himself finds it entertaining to see people become antsy at prolonged eye contact (he could always tell when they start looking at his forehead or nose instead of his eyes). he never told you that though- it would ruin all the fun.
"oh, sorry," you meekly apologize as he moves to sit in the small stool opposite of you instead of his own proper chair on the other side of the desk. "i didn't realize I zoned out."
"i don't mind," he tells you earnestly. "it's good to see you relax before a long trip."
"mondstadt is hardly a marvelous trek."
"that doesn't take away from the fact that making the trip can be dangerous. who knows what enemies are camping out along the paths."
"i can handle it."
"yes, i know." he does this often. frets over things he knows isn't a big problem in the long run just for the harmless banter with you. besides, the looming threat of enemies is the whole reason he's sending you off with medicine in the first place! he's teasing, and he can see it on your face when you realize and stop responding in order to quell his indulgence.
instead, you turn your sights to the bag. 'let's see', you think as you pull the bag open and start sifting through the contents to see what all he packed. you can also guess how much mora you'll owe him after seeing the goods.
baizhu watched you intently as you dug around in the bubu pharmacy labeled sack. perhaps it was because of your previous converstaion, but he couldn't help but watch as your hair shifted with your movements.
craned over, your hair covered the small part of your face that faced him. the curtain of hair made him realize that you hadn't yet put it up like you usually did- especially when you were about to depart on an expedition.
"your trip to mondstadt," he says lowly as he moves to rest his elbow on the desktop with his curled fingers holding his chin. he wasn't usually one to slouch, but it was early, and he was with only you, so his lazed state was deemed acceptable. "you said you'll be traveling with a group yes?"
"hmm," you hum affirmatively. "some millelith are escorting me to the stone gate. after, i'll be meeting with some knights across the border." while you retell the how's of your trip, you never once look at him. instead, you keep your eyes on your acquired items. he sure packed it full.
"i see," he hums. he quietly lifts himself from his stool and just as quietly moves to stand at your back.
you notice his presence behind you too late because before you can ask what he's doing, his hands come into contact with your loose hair. you feel his knuckles brush against your neck and his fingertips snag and gently tug among the strands as he starts pulling it back. one hand combs through your tresses while the other gathers it all in his palm.
you sit extremely still. not just because you were frozen in shock, but a part of you didn't want to mess up whatever it was that he was doing. your throat closed up as well, so even though you wanted to ask what in the world spurred this on, you couldn't. instead, you studied the shadows casted by his paneled windows caused by the morning sun that was finally starting to rise.
you'd have to leave soon.
before long, you felt him twist your hair before putting a band around it and after he placed something else in it to pin it properly in place.
"there," he mutters as he steps away from your back. you twist to look at him, your hand coming to lightly ghost over your hair. you want to try and get a mental image of what he had done, but he quickly stops you from doing so. the tips of his fingers softly push your arm back towards your lap before leaning down to look at you again in the face. "you wouldn't want to mess it up, now would you?"
you silently shake your head. with him bent at his waist for the second time this morning, you notice that his hair was loose again.
"baizhu-"
"the sun is rising," he interrupts. standing up straight, he offers his hand properly to help you stand. "you best be off soon."
looking behind his shoulder, you see the sunshine beyond the windows. as confused as you were and despite all the questions you had, he has a point. you couldn't keep the millelith waiting. so, you accept his hand and stand. you peek to see if chengsheng had woken up, but she was still blissfully sleeping on her cushion.
"tell chengsheng that im sorry i missed saying goodbye to her. i'll make it up to her next time." she was fond of you after all.
"of course." walking you out, he opens his door and leads you to the long stone staircase. you wave to both gui and qiqi who had already made their way into the pharmacy to start their day. with a few more words, you bid farewell to the good doctor before racing down the stairs to meet with your group.
as he watches you swing a left into town at the bottom of the steps, he feels a tug on his pant leg. looking down, he see's little qiqi and kneels to get eyelevel with her.
"yes, qiqi?"
"doctor baizhu... your hair is still down." baizhu chuckles.
"ah, yes. i must've forgotten to do it this morning." his hand comes to pat her hat-clad head. "thank you for reminding me." qiqi felt gleeful at being the one to remember something for once and she nods at him when he stands and moves to return to his room.
he'd have to settle for a slightly different hair style today. as chengsheng wakes up and sees her contractor with a pair of chopsticks crossed in his bun instead of his special hair stick and a braided ribbon instead of a clear band for his braid, she grows curious.
"what happened to your normal thingss?" she inquires as he offers his arm to her and lets her slither up it to coil around his neck. he chuckles as her head moves to stay lifted around his face for easy conversing.
"i lent them to someone." he moves to leave his room for the second time that morning but stops short of the door. "oh, y/n expresses their apologies for already departing the harbor." with a small tut from chengsheng, she coils around him once more before laying her head on his shoulder.
"of coursse." if the snake could roll her eyes, she would've. "has anyone ever told you that you can be rather posssesssive, baizhu?"
"i'm afraid i don't know what you're talking about."
Tumblr media
"i'm here! sorry for the wait!" you huff as you join up with the group of three millelith soliders. you were debreifing with the group leader while the others stood behind you away enough that you couldn't hear their gossip.
"doesn't that hair stick look familiar?" one asks.
"isn't it the one doctor baizhu wears?" the other answers.
"the bubu pharmacy owner?!"
"shh! they'll hear you idiot!" you don't. and you forget all about your hair until you set up camp for the night just outside the stone gate. taking your hair out for sleep is when you finally see what baizhu had pinned your hair up with and suddenly the night air felt a bit stuffy instead of chilly.

I think Baizhu and Sucrose should meet.
Dr. “everyone says my medicine tastes too bitter” Baizhu and Alchemist “I have an obsession with increasing the sweetness capacity of Sweet Flowers” Sucrose.
Inspired by the Haw Flakes those Chinese doctors give you to take with their bitter herbal concoctions, but Sucrose is the supplier, because she can pack ultra dense high fructose sweet flower powder into small flakes because of the absurdly high yields she has on her Sweet Flowers. Bubu Pharmacy, already well respected, shoots up in popularity with everyone because of the new Bitterness Mitigation treat they offer for Dr. Bai’s most foul-tasting medicines. In turn, Baizhu negotiates, in Liyuen fashion, a tidy contract with his supplier, and Sucrose now has so much extra funding for her experiments, gosh, she doesn’t even have to siphon funds from Mondstadt’s taxpayers anymore, she can devote her full attention to Sweet Flower Optimisation without worrying about her productivity in alchemical pursuits for the average citizen.
When word of this “Sucrose Sweet” gets around via Liyue, the trading port of Teyvat, suddenly everyone in and around Teyvat wants to buy from her (it even gets the attention of the Abyss Order, somehow). Akademiya scholars come to study her sweet flower specimens. Jean bans the sweet in Mondstadt because holy shit Sucrose, every child with unrestricted access to these is going to get tooth decay…
and then Sucrose, via her (completely natural!) study of bones, finds a way to make the sweet flowers non-destructive to the teeth (let’s pretend some alchemical magic goes on). Sucrose proceeds to completely outclass her mentor and rivals Lord Sangemah Bay’s wealth in revenue from selling really sweet candy. She does in fact get an offer from Dori to buy the rights to the product, but Albedo helps her put her foot down… and then Alice hears about this from Klee and begins her own interference, and suddenly Sucrose’s life is so radically different that she realises she has the capital and power to do whatever she wants.
Hire Kaveh (constellation Paradisea), pride of the Kshahrewar, and be able to fund and delegate work to Amurta students and volunteers, focusing on all the most important work herself…
Paradise is finally within reach.

Baizhu x Reader // Brainrot [fluff]
Okay listen!
It's the caring for a sick! Reader trope but with Baizhu!
He'd take such good care of you. Even if his medicine tastes bitter most of the time he'd try his utmost to reassure you to take it because it will make you feel better. He'd always try to cheer you up and would stay by your side to watch over you like a hawk. No matter how much it drained him personally or how weak he became due to it. You were his number one priority at all times.
He'd always have a smile on his lips and Changsheng can't help but leave snarky remarks because she's also noticed by now how much Baizhu enjoys your presence.
He may be a doctor and that's why he wants to make every single one of his patients feel better, sworn to try his utmost to cure ailments. It comes natural to him. But for you it's different. He wants to care for you, not because you're one of his patients, but because you are you! The most important person in his life.

I really liked the idea of Baizhu using aphrodisiacs on the Reader, but hadn't yet found a version of it that hit the spot for me
So I made one myself. Enjoy~ (warning for: implied smut, of course, and a little bit of almost-biting. medical talk. gender neutral and undescribed reader, terms used are only dear/darling/etc. and you/2nd person)
“My dear, the deliveries we’ve been waiting for from Sumeru and Natlan have come in,” Baizhu's voice was smooth and low, clearly only for you, as he wrapped his arms around you. You paused in what you were doing, setting down the package of ground medicinal herbs you’d been labeling.
With his usual gentleness, he moved his hands to your hips, pressing a kiss to your skin, as if he had already sampled some of the herbs he’d been waiting for and was under their influence. “If you’re still willing to test them with me, that is.”
You nodded, leaning back against him, to relax into his hold. “Are we doing it now?”
“Not this very minute,” he said with a soft chuckle, “as much as I might like to. There are still a few things I need to finish up around the pharmacy first, including making sure we won’t be interrupted.”
You let your fingers curl into the spaces between his, where his hand was still rested on your hip, holding you against him, warmth of his skin tangible even through his clothing and yours. Maybe he had already taken some of the herbs; he wasn’t usually this warm. “Did Gui leave yet?”
“Not yet. He’s about to leave on his final delivery, and head home from there, so at least he’ll be gone for the day once he does go.”
“Can I ask a question?” you began, tilting your head and exposing your neck to him.
“Always. Especially now. Forewarned is forearmed,” Baizhu replied, running the tip of his finger along the side of your neck.
“How did you intend me to ingest these herbs?” You were more curious than concerned; as bitter as his medicines could be, even to the point of being off-putting, they were never completely repellent.
...and he did have ways of helping you get them down.
“In my research, it was suggested they be added to wine, for just that extra bit of intoxication, of breaking down any last inhibitions. But I wasn’t so sure we should do that. A capsule would take too long to dissolve and be absorbed, I didn’t prepare anything for tablets, so I hadn’t arrived at the final solution yet. Perhaps a sugar cube?”
You hummed, your hand that had been laced with his now stroking along his forearm, tracing from the prominence of his wrist bone to the edge of the wrapping that crossed above his elbow. “That sounds good.”
“Good.” You turned to look at him, and he gave you a kiss. “I had better go, then, and take care of what needs doing, prepare the correct dosage of the herbs, and then I’ll come get you and we can get started.”
“All right,” you breathed, captivated under Baizhu’s gaze, already getting heated and heavy with desire. He let you go and you went back to packaging and labeling the herbs you’d been working on before.
But your mind had already begun to wander. The power of suggestion certainly was strong. Even as you watched Baizhu gently help Changsheng out the window so she could nestle in the eaves of the pharmacy, where she’d be protected from the elements and the events of the back room in equal measure, you were still thinking about the heat in his eyes. You had compared them to candlelight before, but now they were hot, more molten than glowing and warming.
Well, they were warming in that your cheeks were warming, as well as warmth already pooling low in you. Maybe you wouldn’t need the aphrodisiacs, at this rate.
You did manage to finish your work, though, putting the last sachet of herbs up when Baizhu returned, offering you a sugar cube.
“Here you are, one—admittedly light—dose of the aphrodisiacs we said we’d try.”
“Did you have some already?” you asked him.
“Not yet,” he said, voice lilting as he showed you that he’d prepared a simple vial of it for himself. “Ready, darling?”
You nodded, extending your hand, and he settled the sugar cube into your palm.
“All right. On three?” He lifted the vial to his lips, and counted you both off. On three, he tipped the vial back, and you let the sugar cube dissolve on your tongue. You watched his throat as he swallowed the mixture, and he encouraged you to do the same with gentle pressure on your trachea.
“There you go,” he soothed as the bone shifted under his finger. “It should also be soaking into your blood through your gums.”
“It’s spicy,” you said when your mouth was free—though it wouldn’t be for much longer.
“That would be the Pyro aspect on the cinnamon,” he said, a laugh on its tail. “Too spicy?”
You shook your head.
“Good. How are you feeling otherwise?”
“Nothing’s really changed yet,” you told him.
He took your hand, stroking his thumb over your knuckles. “I see. Join me.” With a gentle tug on you, he guided you out of the room you’d been working in, and toward the back room of the pharmacy. He locked the door, and for a while, he just sat at the desk, with you seated on its surface. You looked at the wall, at the art of a carnation that hung there, and down at Baizhu every so often.
He was taking notes on how aphrodisiacs affected him, supplemented with your account, when you had information to offer him. You were starting to feel warm now, and unbuttoned the collar of your top.
He reached up and felt your cheek. “Ooh, your temperature did rise. You look so cute all flushed like this.”
He gave you a smile, and all you could think about was how his lips felt any other time he’d kissed you. How you wanted to feel them on your skin now.
“I think… it’s starting.”
“And what does it feel like?”
“It’s hard to describe. I’m just too hot,” you took off your shirt, “and I am starting to feel a little—” your voice sank, as if someone else would hear you— “aroused.”
“Oh are you?” he teased. “And what can you tell me about that?”
You pressed your knees together, as if that were going to do anything to cool the burning that had started within you. “I want to kiss you.”
“Is that all you want, dear?”
You slipped off the desk and into his lap. “No.” You ran your fingers through his hair, and now it was your turn to tease—your tugging on his hair had already made him hard.
“Oh, these make you more sensitive, huh?” You ground your hips against him, making sure to apply plenty of friction to his evident arousal.
“They do,” he said, breathless. “Do it again.”
You took the loose bunch of his hair before the braid and tugged, feeling your own need spike when he moaned under your attention.
When Baizhu tipped his head back, you kissed his throat, carelessly and sloppily enough your teeth grazed him, not quite a bite but certainly tangible, and earned you another hiss and choked cry out of him. There was already a sheen of sweat glistening on his skin, and you hadn’t even touched him in earnest.
Then again, what was stopping you?
“Can I touch you?” you asked him.
He nodded, adding a “please.”
You gave his belt a firm tug to get its traction to release, and once it had, you dipped your hand below the hem, caressing the heated flesh until you wrapped your hand around him.
He buried his face in your neck to muffle his moan, kissing the join between your neck and shoulder once he’d caught his breath.
“I think… we had better leave the desk,” he said, “or we’ll get all manner of unmentionable fluids all over my notes.”
You let him go, reluctant to do so and even more so when he let out a soft whine, but let him lead you to the bed.
“But that’s all right,” he cooed to you, “because I intend to collect all the data we can before I record any of it. Now the fun begins.”
