Imperial Crown of Russia or the Great Imperial Crown is one of the most outstanding examples of ‘regalia.’

Regalia is referred to as the emblems or insignia of royalty that survived through history.

It is a precious cultural heritage treasure — a well-documented and well-dated piece of jewellery.

Regalia jewellery pieces offer historians great insight into the gemstones used, their historical market values, and occurrences.

It also helps gemologists and jewellers to know how the gems were named and set on the piece of jewellery.

While royal crowns were usually made for individual rulers and later broken up, some of this royal regalia could be found in museums today.

Here are some interesting facts about one such royal artifact, the great Imperial Crown of Russia.

The Great Imperial Crown was made for Catherine the Great’s coronation, as the Russian Empress in 1762 AD, by Georg Friedrich Eckart and Jérémie Pauzié.

It is set with 4936 diamonds with a total weight of 2858 ct, 75 natural pearls, and a large 398.72 ct red spinel, historically known as “balas ruby,” which is among the largest ever reported in the literature, most probably from Badakhshan (today’s Tajikistan).

Imperial Crown of Russia was first worn by the Russian empress Catherine, followed by the subsequent seven emperors of her dynasty.

This royal regalia has remained a permanent fixture on the royal head.

This priceless artifact has been passed on to eight members of the Romanov family:

Catherine II, Peter III, Paul I, Alexander I, Nikolai I, Alexander II, Alexander III, and Nikolai II.

The Romanov dynasty survived till 1917, yet the crown publically appeared for the last time in 1906 at the opening ceremony of the first State Duma.

The crown was estimated to be worth $52 million in 1920.

The stones that the royal regalia comprises were sold off by the Bolsheviks and replaced in 1985.

Later in 1998, the crown was moved to the fund of Kremlin’s Diamond. Subsequently, it was declared to be priceless in a literal sense.

Using white gold (original used silver) and 11,426 russian diamonds (original crown had 4,936 diamonds) from Alrosa with a total weight of 1180 ct, including 74 cultured pearls and a 384.71ct pear-shaped double rose cut purple tourmaline on top of the crown.

The spinel in the replica was replaced with a unique natural red tourmaline with a mass of about 400 karats.

WHO IS SHE?

Persephone, also known as Kore (meaning "young woman” or “maiden" in Greek), is one of the main deities from Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the goddess of the Harvest. She is also the wife of Hades, the god of the Underworld, and she is associated with spring, fertility, and rebirth.

FACTS ABOUT PERSEPHONE:

• She takes her role in the Underworld seriously.

• Her epithets included but were not limited to: Despoina (The Mistress), Melindia (Honey), Aristi Cthonia (Best Cthonic), and Kore (The Maiden).

• Unlike Hera and Amphitrite, Persephone didn’t have a husband that constantly cheated on her (she was married to Hades). However, there is a myth about her cheating on Hades with Adonis, depending on the version. As far as I know, Hades did nothing about the matter. I think that implies it didn’t count as cheating to him, or maybe Persephone only loved Adonis as her son, which makes sense to me since she raised him. But yes, it’s perfectly acceptable and legitimate to say she cheated on Hades.

• Persephone is often called a spring or vegetation goddess but all that seems to mainly be related to Demeter, her mother, when it’s time for Persephone to return her. Truly incidental. Persephone was much more an Underworld goddess than a flowery Goddess.

• There’s evidence to suggest that, as far as religious history goes, Persephone as a character in religion is older than Hades, and was an underworld deity too.

• Some sources suggest Persephone was the mother of Dionysus, but to be fair Dionysus has a bajillion origin stories.

• As far as I know, and correct me if I’m wrong, it wasn’t too popular to depict Persephone with red hair colours until the Victorian era, when a popular red-headed model was used for a famous painting of Proserpina (the Roman equivalent to Persephone). Before, she had occasionally been depicted with red hair, but black and blonde were just as popular. Nowadays, in media, she’s often portrayed as red or pink haired, although even that trend is dying again.

• Some people like to think Persephone was a minor or weak goddess. That was simply not true. She was considered frightening in her own right.

• Someone tried to kidnap her right from the Underworld. Hades had him attached to a chair for eternity.

HOW TO INVOKE PERSEPHONE:

First, set up an altar or sacred space dedicated to her, you can then set offerings such as candles, flowers, and other symbolic items are also essential to respectfully honouring her. Prayers and incantations can be said to her to ask for guidance, support, and her blessings. Meditation and visualization can be used to feel Persephone's presence and connect with her energy. Feast days and holidays can also be celebrated to honour her.

Sequestro de herdeiro Cartwright em plena luz do dia reacende o medo dos Buckshaw, uma praga que já assola tempo demais nossas terras!

Era meio-dia quando o caos tomou conta da rua principal de Serpensummit. Testemunhas afirmam que cerca de seis membros mascarados com bandanas e montados em cavalos, invadiram a mansão da família Cartwright, -comerciantes respeitados e antigos moradores da cidade- e levaram o jovem Nathaniel Cartwright, de apenas 23 anos. O líder dos pistoleiros proferiu apenas uma frase: “$20.000 em dois dias, ou a próxima bala encontra o coração do seu herdeiro.” As suspeitas recaíram imediatamente sobre a gangue mais temida da região: os Buckshaw.

"São os piores. E o pior é que estão sendo pagos por gente de terno e chapéu fino. Assassinos de aluguel. Cachorros loucos." Assim descreveu o velho Elias Moore, ex-caçador de recompensas, que afirma já ter cruzado o caminho de Buckshaw nos pântanos da Louisiana. Ele estava trabalhando como segurança particular da família quando tudo aconteceu, por sorte teve apenas ferimentos leves e passa bem. "Eles não terão a mesma sorte de saírem vivos se cruzarem meu caminho novamente." Moore pontuou ainda, do hospital.

OS CACHORROS LOUCOS DE LAWLER

Formada em Badlands, mas composta por exilados, assassinos e foragidos de todos os cantos dos Estados Unidos, a gangue Buckshaw é o tipo de coisa que até o diabo hesita em chamar de sua. O próprio Lawler Buckshaw, nascido e criado entre o crime, montou seu bando como se estivesse reunindo os mais procurados num só lugar, sendo cada um mais brutal e insano que o outro. Mas o que mais assusta é a organização por trás da selvageria. Por mais caóticos que pareçam, são precisos como um relógio quando o assunto é cumprir contratos. Diferente da gangue Blackwood, conhecida por sua honra torta, ou das Wilkes, que agem por uma causa própria, os Buckshaw não seguem código algum além do lucro. Sequestram, saqueiam e vendem seus serviços a quem tiver a moeda certa, o que dizem ser principalmente magnatas, latifundiários, e até políticos. O modo como costumam gargalhar durante tiroteios lhes rendeu o apelido de cachorros loucos, e é uma das mais marcas que intimidam até os que tem mente mais forte.

A PAZ ESTÁ POR UM FIO

Desde o Acordo da Poeira Branca -um tratado informal entre gangues e pequenos comerciantes locais para manter nossa terra "relativamente habitável"- , a cidade experimentava algo próximo à estabilidade. Entretanto, os Buckshaw parecem dispostos a cuspir no acordo. Desde a chegada do novo xerife, Rattlesnake Pass vinha tentando se reerguer, mas a presença dos fora-da-lei há muito ameaça ruir essa frágil estabilidade. Fontes afirmam que houve um tiroteio no desfiladeiro Deadpass entre Buckshaws e pistoleiros não identificados. O que devemos esperar? Seria esse um sinal de que o acordo foi quebrado e haverá uma guerra? Enquanto isso, o povo tranca as portas antes do pôr do sol, os comerciantes contam o troco com uma mão e seguram a espingarda com a outra, e o medo caminha pelas ruas até que os Buckshaw sejam postos atrás das grades.

One of the main aspects of Inanna that drew me in was her close association to Queerness. Not only were people of all expressions and identities welcome in her temples, but Inanna herself was also gender queer - there are hymns to Inanna where she clearly fluctuates between “male” and “female” gender expressions. Even more importantly, agendered beings are an essential aspect of her ascension to power, since they responsible for resurrecting her when she goes to the Underworld. You might wonder how this connects to this archetype, more widely known as Temperance? For us, more than this idea of a middle ground, this card is about alchemy and transformation. Your life is like a baking recipe - you must find the right amounts of each ingredient in order for everything to come together into a balanced final result.
