The best way to welcome the New year: good food, better company and great views! We took the long scenic route East and finally made it to Rokuni! Let’s not talk about the disappointing experience trying to book a table at Catherine’s but of the Rock Group’s sister restaurants, the Asian themed Rokuni ended up being a good choice to start the New Year! OJT EATS | Flesh and Buns (revisited)

Earlier this year, we had a great meal at Flesh and Buns (read about that trip here).  The other day, we decided to pop back down for a quick and cheerful lunch.

These beef fat potato chips weren’t available the last time we went which was a shame but it did mean that we were definitely going to give them a try this time.  I can see why they sold out that other day; crispy layers of fried potato with a cheese sauce; what more can you want?! 

To be able to get our one of a 5 a day, we ordered the Mizuna avocado salad.  It was a really fresh salad with avocado, cherry tomatoes, rocket and pickled ginger.  The dressing was a citrusy soy dressing that kept things lightl.

Another dish we didn’t get to try the first time around was this beef hot stone rice.  It’s basically a bibimbap with minced beef.  The bowl came hot enough that after leaving it for a few minutes, we had a nice later of crispy rice.  The toppings were tasty.  I think it could’ve done with a sauce with it but otherwise, it was a solid dish.

We weren’t about to come to Flesh and Buns and not get any bao buns at all.  I do still think it is a little stingy that you only get 2 buns for each flesh you get but we made do.

We enjoyed the crispy pork belly so much last time, we ordered it again.  The skin was as crispy as we remembered and with it being pork belly, it was full of flavour.

This was a perfect light quick lunch in the middle of Covent Garden.  The food is really tasty with a great variety of bao buns, starters and side dishes.  That pork belly still remains our favourite dish but those beef fat potato chips run it pretty close!

#30dayfoodphotochallenge Day 24 - Shrimp Bao Buns Bao Buns are great. Tehyre really easy to steam up, and you can fill them with anything. Most of the time I full them with spicy crab, but when i want to get serious I tempura some shrimp and make a sweet and spicy sauce. I also like how imperfect they come out. I imagine that the top of the buns stuck to the steamer, but whatever. Cooking is never perfect. Recept 🔽 Långbakt fläsksida med Bao Buns 👨‍🍳 @the.real.cg.lagar.mat Härliga ångade bröd fluffiga som moln, fyllda med saftigt och mört smakrikt fläsk samt lite goda tillbehör 😋 Här kommer recept på själva fläsket då jag köpt frysta bröd och sedan ångat.
