Even in Kyoto, I miss Kyoto.

The following few days saw me continually growing nostalgic for Paris while still very much in Paris, which reminded me of Bashō’s haiku, a copy of which I discovered among Aunt Elsa’s books while she was preparing a simple lunch à deux: “Even in Kyoto, I miss Kyoto.” This was pure happenstance; yet Bashō had written me as no other writer ever had.
