Part 11
Warnings: Teen Flashback Violence
Riri rushes to the second floor restroom crying.
*Flashback*
“Good Night Shuri.” The words echoed in her ears as Shuri left Ri’s house. This internet thing had to end now. Tonight was her Homecoming proposal all going to waste because of Xavier. She calls one of Baba’s old students basically her big brother M’Baku. “Brother I need your support with something.” “Do I have to fight little sister?” “Only you if you want.” Shuri explains the situation with Xavier and how he has the internet trying to dirty up her name and maybe she mentioned Riri. “Sister I will help you but after this you have to think smarter. Your anger is not going to solve this for the long run.” “Brother I know but for now I just need him taken care of.”
They meet at the game and Shuri texts Xavi to meet her in the women's locker room across from the field. It is not used during football season so it is the perfect cover in case things go crazy. Xavi enters the door and M’Baku moves behind him and locks it. “Xavier what is your problem? You are making fake accounts now?” With a sinister smirk playing on his face, Xavi steps closer to Shuri. “Just getting my revenge Superstar. Or did you forget I was passed up on my NIL deal for you?” “All this over an NIL deal are you crazy? I didn’t even take the deal.” “I know that’s why you deserve this. I’ll never have another shot and I am going to make it so you don’t either.”
Shuri explodes and pushes him up into the lockers. “If all this is about me, why are you bringing Ri into it? Disrespecting her with your comments.” “She was just my in because you are such a goodie goodie I used what I had. Also she just sexy asf fuck under them boy clothes and I don’t get denied if you know what I mean.” Shuri knocks him across the face for that last part busting his lip. He starts to come after Shuri but M’Baku grabs him. “X this is the end of the line. I will not tolerate another moment of disrespect toward her. I will personally make life very hard for you if you do. As for me and you. We will see if I never have another shot.”
*end of flashback*
Riri is leaning over the sink looking at herself in the mirror. The crying made her throw up but she’s not sad. She’s happy and disappointed in herself. Shuri is the one hands down there is no question she’s got to make it right the anxiety is real but no more running. She calls her sister because lunch and free period are soon so she must act fast. Shuri LOVES sweets, roses and corny stuff. So Riri hatches a plan to do the cornetist thing she knows to do.
Lunch rolls around and Sharon brings Riri all the elements she needs right at the start. Riri goes and waits at the end of the tunnel to catch some of the girl basketball players so they can help her stage and convince Shuri to come to the main locker room after the lunch pick up game. MJ is there waiting as lunch comes to a close so she can record.
Al is the major key to this because she agreed to get Shuri to the main locker room. “Yo Shuri, come back to the main with us. You got to stop sulking.” “Al I am not sulking you know I like my peace time after the pick up. Today was crazy, plus my girl is still not talking to me.” “I know but just for a second I got something that can cheer you up.” Unsuspecting Shuri follows Al into the main locker room. The lights were off but someone was standing in front of her locker Shuri noticed. Flipping on the light the team was standing holding out a rose to Shuri. In the middle stood Rihanna with a corny note on a huge post it.
“Baby I need you to know I’m sorry for being so scared and stubborn. When you told me you had my back I never knew to what extent. But today I realized there's no limit. So I’m done running. I want you and I’m with you no matter what. You are my air.” The note reads Will you go to Homecoming with me? Yes box, No box and Maybe box. Shuri walks up slowly nodding a yes before kissing Riri. All of this was captured on live that everyone’s phone got a notification for so her statement to Shiri could be done out loud. Riri loves being a genius sometimes.
The team claps and cheers rooting them one as the live ends and they decide to go to the smaller locker room to talk. Shuri is leaning on the lockers smiling down at Ri. Ri holds her gaze and smiles back. “I am sorry how I reacted was not fair to you and I realized that before today, I just felt I had to find the right moment.”
Shuri pulls Ri close and holds her chin so they can look into each other's eyes. “I accept your apology. It doesn’t need to be perfect for you to talk to me. All I want is to know what’s going on so I can help.” Riri closes her eyes and smiles. “Somehow you read my mind this time though.” Throwing her head back, Shuri laughs. “Wow, I think I can read it now. Actually.” Smirking devil like she leans in to kiss Riri. Parting for just a moment. “I don’t need everything perfect. You can talk to me even if you don’t know what to say.”
Ri closes the gap between them again. This kiss is longer and egar. Shuri runs her hands around Riri’s body to the small of her back, biting at her bottom some. This causes Ri to part her lips and Shuri takes the lead of adding tongue. They kiss and explore each other making out until the bell.

Yuta x reader // SMUT, ANGST, fluff? Summary: A Japanese transferee added color to your already colorful and perfect life and you both find true love as you help him with his battle against drugs.   Word Count: 7k Warnings: MAJOR DRUG USES, wearing, explicit mature themes, mentions of alcohol, blood, hospital, rehab, unprotected sex, mentions of other idols Note: IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE WHEN IT COMES TO DRUGS, PLEASE CLICK AWAY. THANK YOU. this fic is 100% came from my imagination, unlike my other works that are inspired from true events and personal experiences, this fic is 100% made up.
Spaced out and really not in the mood to socialise, you were busy thinking how you’re going to break things off with your boyfriend Jaehyun. The perfect captain of the cheerleading squad and the handsome captain of the basketball team, together and being high school sweethearts is kind of getting old to you. And by getting old you mean you don’t love Jaehyun anymore. Not that he cheated on you or he treated you badly, no Jaehyun’s a great guy. It’s just that maybe he is not what your heart wants anymore.
It’s hard to explain something you cant even understand. You can’t actually pin point when did you start forcing yourself to see Jaehyun and why is this happening. “I can’t just stage a cheating scenario, that’s not me. I think Jaehyun deserves the truth” thats your response when Yeeun suggests to stage a cheating act where Jaehyun will see some random dude in your bed. “He will not buy it. Because he knew I can’t cheat” you added making Yeeun more frustrated.
To finish all your problems regarding breaking up with Jaehyun, you decided to just tell him the truth. He believed everything you said. “I felt it. Your kisses became different” Jaehyun said after you explained your part, you were glad that the breakup was mutual.
Now that you’re on your senior year, you wanted to focus on studying and trying new things. You gave up cheerleading and entrusting the squad to Yeeun. Giving up cheerleading was not a problem even though literally all of your friends are part of the squad, but they understand you. You’re just following your heart. Cheerleading is soon replaced by art, your second passion next to dancing and you couldn’t be more happier.
Everything was going smooth, having good grades, self love, and more art. Although, people in school still see you as this popular cheerleader who used to be with the school star player, you’re having a hard time making new friends. Until you met Nakamoto Yuta. A Japanese transferee who’s always quiet, private and scary because he had a lot of piercings. Not to you of course, you never see him that way. You met at the football field while you were having a quick sketch of the sunset with all your coloring materials just after a long day at school. “You should try using soft pastels, they’re more easier to blend” he said peaking from the back bleacher, you turned around to check who it is.
“I’m Yuta by the way, we have the same art class” he’s a little shy and awkward, but nice enough to introduce himself first. You knew you go to the same art class, actually he is quite an artist. He can be top of the class if only he submits his works.
“Hi, I’m y/n” you smiled at him offering a hand shake but you realised your hand is dirty because of the oil pastel. “We can fist bump instead” you suggest and he let out a small laugh. He looks beautiful under the perfect orange light from the sunset, his skin is unbelievably white and flawless, he looks unreal and you can’t stop staring.
“So...” he snapped out of you, “it’s nice to me you y/n. I hope you take my advice” you nod and waved goodbye as he leaves you alone with your drawing session. Your heart is beating so fast and you don’t know why but one things for sure, you find Yuta attractive. Really attractive.
The next day, you made sure to buy soft pastels and it did made your life easier. You wanted to thanked him but he didn’t come to school for two days. It really is useful to you, it made you work faster and easier, you couldn’t stop drawing and filling your sketchbook with colors.
After three days, he made his appearance again in school and he looked like shit. Maybe he got sick? That’s why he haven’t been showing up. Whatever the reason is, it made you shy to talk to him and tell him all about the things you already create with colors that he recommended. But destiny was being a little too friendly, he caught you again sketching your heart out at the bleachers.
“You work fast” he came out of nowhere again.
“Yes! Actually I’ve been meaning to talk to you, but you seem not well I couldn’t bother you” he smiled at you like there’s nothing wrong, “If you want, I could show you some of mine, a- at home if you want” you noticed he’s being friendly and who are you to refuse.
Yuta brought you to his house, just five streets from your home. Turns out Yuta is rich... and alone, he lives with his Japanese butler, Ruka. “My family is in Japan if you’re wondering” he tells more information about him while you two walk upstairs to his room. The house is simple but it was too spacious, it feels lonely and cold but you kept that thought to yourself. Good thing Yuta’s room is full of colors, different kind of masterpiece are put up on his wall, lots and lots of drawing and coloring materials neatly stacked on his working table, and a beautiful view of the town from his window.
“Uhm, if you need something from my stuff I’ll gladly give it to you” still amazed by what you’re seeing right now, all you want to do is look at all of his works. “Wow - that’s uhm, too much but I’m happy you can introduce me to a lot of art materials” you can’t hide your excitement, everything in his desks looks new to your eyes and you can’t help but ask questions about different materials. ‘What’s this for?’ ‘How do you use this?’
Not to mention you’ve been praising his works for almost half an hour already. He’s happy that you find him as a great artist and that you’re willing to be friends with him, seeing you in his room gives him hope. Ruka knocked at Yuta’s door and invited you to have dinner with them, you didn’t notice it’s already dark and you definitely need to go home already. But you didn’t want to leave Yuta yet, “Sure. I’d love to”
Even the smell of their freshly cooked dinner is new to you, since their both Japanese they only eat Japanese food everyday. “I hope you like Japanese food, I asked him to order takeout but Ruka insists. Told me you should try his cooking” he whispers beside you while Ruka is busy preparing the table. “It’s fine, I don’t get to eat Japanese food always so I don’t mind” you smiled to Yuta, taking away his worries.
The food was delicious, and the dinner table was full of laughter and stories from Ruka. They were both exchanging stories, telling you too much information you don’t need to know, but they tell you anyway. You found out that Yuta plays soccer and he’s a really good player, he’s an impulsive buyer when it comes to his art materials and your favorite information for the night, Yuta has seventeen piercings. The three of you laughed and laughed the whole dinner time while enjoying the delicious Udon and a lot of deep fried seafood.
Later that night Yuta walked you home and endlessly thanked you for spending time with him. “Everything that happened today is so random, but I could get used to this” you said, secretly hoping you could spend some more time with him. “This is my house. I would normally invite you to come in, but its pretty late - which reminds me” your voice and your hands were shaking, pretty sure you’re blushing too. “We have this thing every Friday. Me and my family- uhh, just meet me here at 7?” How brave of you to ask.
If Yuta could only shout and scream from happiness he would, instead he just gave you a nod and a sweet smile before he waved goodbye to you. “See you tomorrow” he shouts before you get inside.
There’s no way of hiding it, you have a crush on Yuta. And you cant ruin this wonderful friendship by being obvious, you told yourself. The next day you made an effort to look cute, “so much for not being obvious” you talk to yourself through the mirror. As you get on with your day, you can’t stop thinking how Yuta is a complete charmer and a really nice guy. Gentleman enough to walk you home in the middle of the night and smiling so sweetly before he leaves.
Yuta on the other hand, has been asking about you to his friends. It’s either they tell him that you’re smart, pretty and popular or they tell him that you are the former captain of the squad. No one told him the things that he single handedly found out about you. In Yuta’s eyes you’re this simple girl that has her life all planned out already. He understood the whole popularity thing because whats not to love about you?
Hiding his excitement, he was pretty early but you told him it’s perfectly fine. Your family adored Yuta, they were all talking nonstop the whole night asking questions about Japan. Which made you worry actually, what if Yuta was hurting and he misses his family or miss Japan in general. Yuta seemed to enjoy everyone’s company, at least that’s what you think and you could only hope that he’s not faking it.
“Sorry, this is the least I can do. The dinner last night was so great, I wanted to invite you over” you brought him to your room so you could have some privacy. Which is not normal. The last guy you brought to your room was Jaehyun, and that happened two years ago.
He was busy looking around your room with an amused smile, looking at the pictures taken from crazy parties, cheerleading competitions, and basically every important event of your life. Yuta let out a small laugh when he saw your cheerleading uniform framed and hanged on your wall.
“What’s so funny about it?” you giggle while you both look at the framed uniform.
“I’ve never seen something like this before, I guess I’m amazed” to be honest he really is amazed that your uniform became something like a trophy that you display around your room. “I bet you look good wearing it” he was smiling while looking at you when he said that. Suddenly the room became hot.
“You should smile more often, your smile is nice” to divert the attention, of course you praised him again.
“If you think my smile is beautiful, you should’ve seen yours” there’s no getting away with that so you just accepted it.
On the following days, you’ve been spending more time with Yuta talking, drawing and getting to know each other more. And the more you spend time with him, your feelings grow and grow. In a matter of weeks, you’re sure you’ve completely fallen in love with him.
He became your friend, in fact your only friend since you left cheerleading. Every friend of yours is either a cheerleader or jock, given that they’re all athletes, they don’t have time for you anymore. That’s why you think Yuta is a life saver.
Not long ago, you discovered about Yuta’s drug addiction. Weed, Meth, Heroin, all kinds. Maybe that’s why sometimes he’s so spaced out and he miss school a lot. “Yuta’s parents sent him here because of his drug addiction, only he can help himself” Ruka explained to you over coffee while Yuta is out doing whatever he’s doing. Even though he has problems, you still stick with him. He’s still a nice guy who loves his art, the same nice guy your family adored. With or without drugs.
One night, you were playing Jenga with him on his bedroom floor with a few bottle of beers and snacks on the side. “I’m going to win, I’m good at this” he totally loves teasing you whenever you two get competitive with each other. “You wish. Okay my turn” you said after drinking your beer in one down, but the Jenga tower fell off and Yuta laughed so hard he has tears on his eyes. He saw your face completely pissed off as you open another beer and building the tower again for another game.
“Who’s Jaehyun?” you were surprised at his question, something a student from your school wouldn’t dare ask because the whole school knows him.
“Oh right, you’re a transferee” he sat up and sat closer to you, legs crossed and both arms are supporting him on the floor “Uhm. He’s my ex. We’ve been together for two years? I think. And then I broke with him, over the summer because I don’t love him anymore - the breakup was mutual, if you’re wondering” He nods, and ready to ask you another question.
“Do you like someone now?” he reached for your hand which made you stop building the tower and intertwined it with his. You wonder why he’s suddenly so bold and confident. You nod, completely speechless.
“Is it me?” Yuta bravely asks, and you nod without hesitation.
He reached for your lips and kissed you gently, cupping your face as his thumb swipes on your cheeks admiring your beauty. Time stopped the moment you touch lips and you feel the happiness in your stomach balls up, ready to explode.
“This is probably wrong”
And suddenly that happiness you felt was replaced by confusion. He pull away from your touch leaving you so confused and still in shock. “What’s so wrong about this?” you asked him while getting him to look you in the eyes, tugging his arm so he wont’s get too far.
“I’m a drug addict y/n. You can’t be with someone like me. Cliché as it sounds but, I’m scared to ruin your life. You’re this perfect person who I happen to meet at football field and you’re just nice enough to welcome me in your life”
He looks frustrated and confused as you are but you knew damn well that meeting him is something you don’t regret. “You don’t get to push me away just because you decided to be honest with your feelings and somehow decided to be a coward afterwards” it wasn’t easy to stay calm but you tried so hard, your grip on his hand was becoming tighter and he noticed it. “I like you! And you make me happy. You’re the one who put color in my life, well literally and figuratively. But my point is, don’t throw us away” you decided to be brave and kissed him again. This time, hungrier and full of need. You sat on his lap and pushed him down slowly all the way to the floor. Hands all over each other, switching positions and rolling on the floor without stopping the kiss.
It was not a surprise for everyone when you went public, they already foresee what’s going on between you two. Your family still adored Yuta just like how they adored him from the first time they met him. The whole popularity problem in school completely changed in a good way because of Yuta. More people from school are talking to you now, they’re not scared or shy to be friends with you anymore because Yuta somehow changed everyone’s perspective. With Yuta you’re this normal person who’s happy to be with his boyfriend.
Happy days are nothing but pure laughter and great memories with Yuta. Movie night with Yuta and Ruka with a bunch of Japanese treats on the side is your new Friday night schedule. And inviting Yuta and Ruka for family dinner during special occasions has been a thing that made Yuta happy. He told you he’s a sucker for spending time with family but his family is in Japan and he can’t go home until he’s clean. That was the night you decided that you will never leave Yuta’s side.
Yuta is this bright color that made your life even more colorful. He is this man, full of surprises and definitely no dull moment. You learned how to take care of him in your own ways without making him feel sorry for himself. Vulnerable, important and ordinary, that’s what he made you feel. And by ordinary, you mean no social pressure from the people around you. Just two normal people who fell in love in a normal way. Sometimes, situations can be a handful but it was never a problem for the both of you. Yes he has drug issues but for you, Yuta deserves to be loved. And no one can stop you from loving him.
Your love for each other grew and grew until you reach being intimate with each other.
It was raining hard and the wind was strong, you decided to stay over at Yuta’s house. Already washed up and fresh, you wait for your boyfriend in his bed as he turned off the lights in his room and replaced it with scented candles.
“You look comfortable there” he giggle as he crawls in bed and sat beside you leaning on his headboard. It’s chilly and cold in Yuta’s room, you cant help but be closer to him. Closer as possible.
“You like that?” You hum and nod with eyes closed to answer him. Surprisingly, he kissed you and your eyes opened only to see Yuta’s handsome face close to yours. The kiss was slow and you were both taking time savouring this quiet memory. It went on like that for some time, until the kiss became wet and needy. He hungrily kissed you bitting and licking your lips. Hands creeping just under your shirt, all the way to your clothed boobs and skilfully unclasps your bra. Gently kneading your right boob and doing a circular motion on your nipple.
“We’ve never gone this far” you said as you catch your breath, and went back to kissing him a little bit slowly this time.
“Do you think its time?” He managed to ask you in between those soft kisses, giving you sweet pecks. You nod excitedly. “Sit between my legs” you followed what he told you, completely clueless on what he’s going to do next.
“Spread your legs wide” it suddenly became hotter as you spread your legs nervously. Your head is resting on his shoulder, back against his chest, heart beating so fast as you wait for his next move. “Yuta, can you kiss me?” your voice cracked but he just smiled, and shook his head. “Not until you remove your shorts and panties” and so you did. Hurriedly removing your thin shorts and laced panties, throwing them on the floor.
The moment his finger had contact with your wet slit you gasp and grabbed his shoulder gripping it tightly as you moan. You feel like this is new to you but it isn’t, of course you’re not a virgin anymore and Jaehyun did a fair share on that. “Yuta- Ah! Baby I’m almost there” with heavy breaths and sharp gasps, you warn him and at the same time stopping yourself from cumming too early.
“Wider” he said so calmly, you followed spreading your legs wider. Fingers drilling a little harder than before and you finally let go. Shivering and catching your breath, eyelids already heavy. He licks your parted mouth as you enjoy your high, filthy but fucking hot. His breath smells like mint.
“You seem so calm the whole time you were finger fucking me” with all the energy left in your body, you went back to laying on his side.
“Yeah well my cock isn’t” he kissed you on the forehead and tells you, “i love you, you sound beautiful the whole time. I was busy listening to you”
You have something on your mind right now that you’re somehow scared to ask because he might refuse, “I have a question” you sat up and sat on his lap. Your legs and pussy are still exposed, and you’re making Yuta’s cock even more hard. “Why did you not ever asked me to have sex with you?”
“Well will you have sex with me baby?” Just like that, straightforward and calm like the Yuta you know. You were both giggling like little kids for some time while waiting for your answer. It’s not that you don’t want to but you were just shy to say your answer out loud.
“You’re shy, aren’t you?” of course he knew you’re being shy. He’s your boyfriend who happens to know everything about you. “Well, I’m horny” he sat up to reach your lips, kissing you gently but enough to prove that he is horny. Slowly his kisses went to your neck, making you moan softly. But you pull away not telling him anything. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking right. Please don’t be mad-“
To his surprise, you removed your shirt and your unclasped bra. Now you’re fully naked on top of your boyfriend, “It’s not fair that I’m the only ones naked here, baby” you grab the end of his shirt and helped him to removed it. “You scared me” he managed to tell you in between hungry kisses, “you’re so in trouble” he added and pushed you on the mattress.
Laughing like a little girl, while Yuta is busy kissing your naked body beneath him. Your head is dangling on the edge of the bed seeing his room upside down. His cock is poking your thigh the moment he’s on top of you naked, and you’re positive that it made you nervous. “Baby, I think your cock wont fit me” your boyfriend was amused by what you just said, “It will” is the only response he said before licking your nipples and sucking them gently. He grabbed your right leg putting it on his shoulder and kneeled in between your legs, lining his cock in your entrance.
Slowly he pushed his cock inside you making you bite your hand and close your eyes to stop yourself from moaning too loud. “See? it fits” Yuta is doing the opposite, he’s groaning with every thrust he give you letting out sounds you didn’t know he can make. Whimpering like a little boy beside your neck, you can hear him clearly. As his pace goes faster you were losing your mind at how good he fucks you for the first time.
“Don’t fucking stop” with heavy breath and gasp, you reached for his neck and encircled your arms around him. Legs spreading wider for him, moans becoming a little bit louder. The bed is shaking you’re sure Ruka can hear you both.
“Y/n, if you don’t stop moaning like that- I swear” his thrust became quicker and sharper leaving you speechless. Your pussy clenched the whole time trying to fight the sensation and trying so hard not to be on edge yet. But it’s a battle you can’t win, Yuta is so good at making you let go. You didn’t say that you were cumming but he can tell because your legs were already shaking and you were grabbing everything you can on bed and gripping it a little too hard. He pulls out and pumped his cock in front of you making his cum land perfectly on your boobs. Just the sight of his cum on your beautiful body, makes him hard again.
You grabbed him with both hands through the neck, and pull him on your chest kissing him a little too harsh. Filthy as it looks but you don’t care. You spread your legs again and put a hand in between the two of you and grabbed his hard cock. Pushing it inside you again, he let you do what you want. In a matter of seconds, he’s inside you again.
“I was disappointed, you didn’t cum inside me” you pout and he thrust again without a single word making your head roll back again, smiling like a fool because you got want you want. Yuta fucked you again, but this time rougher and he get to cum inside you.
“Sorry if I didn’t cum inside you earlier” he kissed your forehead while you calm down from your orgasm. You still can’t talk and you’re still catching your breath, all you can do is smile as you wait for your legs to stop shaking.
And that was the start of having sex with Yuta with every chance you get. Making out in your room that leads to sex before doing homework. Watching the sunset through his window still naked and all over each other. Sex was different with Yuta, it was damn wild and filthy but full of love. Something you never felt before.
Whenever you’re busy working on something in the art room and Yuta needed to fetch you there, you make out with him for some time because he missed you already. Even though anyone can just enter and catch you two, he never cared.
If you’re not allowed to go out on a Friday night, he will sneak up to your room through your open window while you were sleeping and kiss you quietly until you wake up. You love having quiet sex with Yuta in your room because its funny how you two try to stop moaning too loud. On top of that, he needed to stop himself from fucking you too hard and remind him to go slow from time to time.
Your fear of giving him a blowjob because you’re not that confident with it completely changed when one day you were just so hungry for his cock and you went down on your knees and gave him a blowjob for the first time. That’s during lunch and you brought him to the locker room where you and Jaehyun used to make out before practice. To your surprise Yuta came three times in your mouth, for some reason he loved it. From there on he always ask you for a blowjob and you always gladly give him what he wants.
If there are days with him that are nothing but pure happiness, of course there are days that are almost impossible to bare. All you can do is be strong and keep your patience long, remind yourself that you love Yuta no matter what happens. You really don’t know where it all started, or what triggered him to go back on drugs but you noticed he’s been busy and he’s not telling you the whole truth whenever you ask him ‘what’s up?’
After spending six beautiful months together, suddenly Yuta is gone again for days. He’s been missing a lot again and that can only mean he’s out somewhere taking drugs or he’s taking drugs and he’s in trouble. When you came to his house, Ruka was stopping you from entering the house but you insist.
“What is it Ruka?” you know he’s hiding something from you and Yuta is inside. So you shout from the outside, forcing Yuta to come out. He did. Limping and face all beat up. You’re not mad or disappointed, you were simply worried about him. “He got home this morning, and he’s still high from drugs. I don’t think this is a great time y/n.”
You look at each other’s eyes from a far, both hurt but yours is not physical. Broken heart, that’s what pains you. It’s hard to step away from his house, looking in his eyes full of hurt. Deep down you know he wanted to hug your kiss but he can’t because he can’t fucking move and he’s too humiliated.
What you saw today was too much and you needed a breather. It’s good that its Friday, you can be with your friends and somehow divert your mind. “People can get beaten up with a lot of reasons specially when drugs is involved” Johnny says while drinking his beer and playing beer pong with the others. “Don’t think about it too much, he’s going to be okay” Yeeun shouts from another side of the table. All of your friends were supportive with the relationship you have with Yuta even though they know about his drug problems. You spent days being with your friends while Yuta is recovering and there’s not a day where you don’t check up on him.
A week passed already and theres still no sign of Yuta. You can’t just show up in front of his house again, you didn’t want to disturb his recovery. Besides, school works are pilling up you need to focus studying and finishing some of the requirements. Your mind is buried into Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and you didn’t notice you passed out. When you woke up, you found Yuta beside you all snuggled up and waiting for you to open your eyes.
“Am I dreaming?” you closed your eyes and opened them again, no you’re not dreaming. He smile a little, you figure he’s still in pain. “Are you alright now? How did you get in?” you sat up to check his face and his arm. “I’m alright, I just needed to see you. I can’t take it anymore. I missed you so much” he reached for your hands and kissed your knuckles. He pats the mattress telling you to come lay with him in bed, and you did. Fingers intertwined and bodies close to each other, just how you like it.
“Why do you stay with me? You’re this perfect girl that fell in love with an addict”
For some reason you were scared of how he asked you that question. It almost felt like he’s going to leave you. There was a minute of complete silence before you answer him, “Because thats what you do if u love someone. You don’t give up on them. And just so you know I love you, and Im in love with you”
He chuckled but still careful not to overdo it because of the bruises in his face, “I know. I know that all too well” he placed his hand just above your jaw, and left a kiss on your forehead. “I’m trying to be better for you so I wont have to leave you eventually and go to fucking rehab. I can do this right?” hearing Yuta say that made you realise you were wrong about him wanting to leave you. He doesn’t want to leave, he wanted to be better for you. You kissed him on the lips pouring everything from the past couple of weeks in it. The kiss was wet but it wasn’t because of spit, but because of tears.
After what happened, he tried being clean but he just ends up taking drugs over and over again. There was a time that you caught him taking cocaine in his bathroom and he shut the door with a loud slam and told you to go home. Seeing him do things like that pains you to the core. He never wanted to hurt you like this, he never pushed you away because deep down he wanted to be better and if that happens he wants you to be on his side.
A week before prom, Yuta made sure he’s clean and he promised you he will never ruin prom night for you. As a way of celebrating for being fourteen days clean and spending time with each other, you had sex after a wonderful night spent with Yuta.
“Fuck I missed being inside you” he whispers behind your ear while his fucking you with a steady pace. As always, the way he fucks you can make you lose your mind and smile like a fool while moaning and gasping at the same time. You closed your eyes as you let go of the feeling and cum for the first time tonight, the moment you open your eyes you see Yuta’s eyes closed completely blown by the frenzy on being on edge. And bleeding.
His nose is bleeding uncontrollably.
“Baby- you need to stop” opening his eyes to ask if he hurt you, he saw the blood on your boobs, completely panicking. “Did I do this to you baby- where does it hurt?” you were crying already, not talking to him as you quickly wore your clothes and screamed for help, calling Ruka as loud as you can.
Yuta was completely clueless but his head was spinning and he feels so weak suddenly. “Baby! Don’t close your eyes, you can die-  please stay with me” you were practically slapping his face to keep him awake as you help him wear his pants.
Everything happened so fast the moment you see his nose bleeding nonstop. You and Ruka rushed him to the hospital as quickly as you can. You were alone at the waiting lounge as Ruka takes care of everything Yuta needs to stay in the hospital.
All of your friends weren’t picking up because maybe they’re sleeping and tired from practice. But one person picked up and made his way to the hospital and brought you some clothes as soon as he can.
“I’m sorry Jaehyun, I didn’t know anyone else to call. I cant just simply call my family” Jaehyun was holding you close and comforting you as you cry for a whole hour. After changing to clean clothes, Ruka called you in to talk to Yuta. While Jaehyun is hesitating to come with you,  “Jae, come on its okay. He’ll be happy to see you”
You were happy to see Yuta completely awake and smiling once you opened the door and entered the room with Jaehyun. You sat beside Yuta and kissed him on the forehead, “the sex was so good, you made me bleed” he joked around making all three of you laugh and you tear up again. “What’s happening to you?” you weren’t sure you wanted to know but you do know it’s nothing good.
“I’m fine baby, no need to worry” of course he will not tell you what’s going on because he didn’t want to make you worry. “Thank you Jaehyun. For being with her” Jaehyun nods at him and pats Yuta’s arm.
Suddenly your excitement for prom is replaced with worries for Yuta’s health. He needs to stay in the hospital for a week, and that covers prom. “We’re still on for prom right?” you were laying with him on the hospital bed as he shower you with kisses. If there’s anything he hates more than anything, that is making you disappointed. “Of course” you kissed him back, making him blush. “Can’t wait to see you crowed, Prom Queen” even though that’s not important to you anymore, you just nod and rolled your eyes on him.
He did got out from the hospital a day before prom, leaving him with only a day to rest. Ruka got him a nice tux that fits him really well, and you on the other hand tried to forget things that happened last week that completely ruined your prom excitement.
After working so hard on your hair and makeup, you finished getting ready just in time for your friends to pick you up. But Yuta is not yet here, when he’s supposed to be here already an hour before your friends arrived. “I think you guys should go, I’ll wait for him a little longer. I’ll see you there, okay?” you wave goodbye to your friends as you wait for Yuta on your porch.
You called Ruka to ask about Yuta, hoping maybe he just got problems with his tux. “Hey, Ruka uhm, is Yuta still there?” his answer broke your heart. The excitement was replaced with worries again, you called Yuta’s phone a hundred times but he never picks up.
A car parked in front of your house, hoping it’s Yuta. But it’s not, it’s Jaehyun. He drove to your house because he was worried, “What’s happening?” he worriedly asked. You were still trying to call Yuta’s phone, still no answer.
“Come one y/n, I’ll take you to prom” Jaehyun offered, but as much as you wanted to accept his offer Yuta’s excitement from the other day, flashed in your mind and you know you can’t go.
“I can’t Jae, thank you and I know you mean nothing but kindness. I’ll wait for Yuta here, he will get hurt if I go without him” Jaehyun didn’t really want to leave you but you made your choice.
The moment Jaehyun left, your tears finally fall. You were crying when your mom gave you a blanket and invited you to go wait for him inside. “I’m fine, thanks for the blanket” you were so hurt to even move. And you’re not hurt because he ditched you to prom, you’re hurt because you can’t reach him and you’re worried for him. A lot of things may have happened to him and that’s what worries you.
A week later, Ruka met you after school and told you that Yuta is finishing high school through home study under your school’s supervision. “He’s still part of the school, I’ll convince him to attend graduation. But,” something bad is about to happen, you thought.  “he wanted me tell you that, he’s breaking up with you” and that’s it. You burst into tears after hearing the bad news. It was so hard to breath, hearing those words from Ruka and not directly from Yuta. But you trust Yuta’s decision and maybe it’s for the best. With a heavy heart, you hugged Ruka goodbye and left without another word.
You tried putting up a big smile during graduation and hugging everyone you knew all throughout high school, except for one important person. A week after graduation, you left for college. Still with a heavy heart but you wanted to move on and have a fresh start.
Ten years later
It’s impossible to forget your first love specially if that someone made an impact to your life. You’re sitting on the very spot where you met Yuta remembering how you were charmed by his smile. Mouthing the exact same words he told you before introducing himself first, ‘You should try using soft pastels, they’re more easier to blend’ smiling after you realised you’re completely a fool for still dwelling from the past.
You shrug it of and decided to go back to your high school reunion, maybe people are already looking for you. You stood up from the bleacher, “hi” and you almost fell from where you were standing and the person in front of you is to blame.
“I didn’t mean to startle you. I’m sorry” you told the man that it’s okay and you should get going, not even bothering to look who he might be. It’s weird that the man isn’t letting go of your hand, “Excuse me. I need my hand-“ your heart beats fast like the moment you first saw him. Nothings changed that’s for sure, except his hair color.
“Yuta” your eyes were full of tears but you were smiling the whole time. He pulled you in for a tight hug, holding you close like how he used to. It feels like a dream, you thought. A dream that you never want to end. Catching up with lost time, you spend the night with him forgetting about the high school reunion and watching over the same blue sky you used to look at years and years ago from his room.
He’s now an owner of a popular art gallery in Japan, which you happened to know about. “No way! You own that place, I went there just last year for work” he nods, and told you he knew. And he can’t believe you’re standing inside his art gallery. “I got scared. That’s why I didn’t talked to you” then you remember, on that day you were supposed to meet the owner of the gallery, “That’s why we talked to your secretary instead of the owner… which is you” he was nodding the whole time like a fool. It’s fun laughing the whole night not minding the time, he’s the same man you fell in love with.
“We missed prom because I was busy getting high” he suddenly blurted out when the both of you was silent.
“I went to your house I saw you waiting for me outside, crying because I ditched you” he’s wrong, you were crying that time because you were worried sick. But you saved your explanation for later, for now you just wanted him to explain his part.
“And I know I’m ten years late but, you look beautiful in that red lipstick. And oh! That dress on you, Mmm! I was admiring you from a far, and you were perfect” there he is again, making you laugh “and me I was high that time and I couldn’t ruin your night even more. I cant ruin your life even more” he reached for your hand and kissed it like he used to.
“That was my breaking point. After I finished the home study program, I begged my mom to put me in rehab, I want to be better for you. As always y/n. But as I got better I figured maybe you forgot about me already so I focused on getting better for myself. Went to college, had a job and now this. All better. Never want to go back” he left you speechless again, but he deserves to know the truth.
“Im sorry Yuta, I didn’t know. But for the record I was crying because I just wanted to see you that time. It doesn’t matter if you were high as a kite. I couldn’t care less about prom. I was waiting for you until the sun goes up and you never showed up. I was blaming myself maybe, I didn’t loved you enough thats why you left”
“No no, don’t say that. You were more than enough” tears never stopped falling from your eyes and Yuta hated seeing you cry. So he kissed you on the lips for the first time again for so many years. You rest your forehead on his, taking time to process everything that’s happening right now. Completely aware of what’s running in your mind right now he suggests to take things slow before coming back to each other’s lives again.
“Take all the time you need. I’m sorry. I swear I’ll never leave again”

HERE ARE SOME HEADCANNONS about the basic background info on my son, i might write his full bio.....i might not, WHO KNOWS, but i probs will. for now, here’s some need to know background:
theo was left in the foster care system at a very young age, his mother was an addict who gave him up in favor of continuing her life of addiction, but he was VERY QUICKLY adopted by the age of 2.
the family who adopted him already had an older son, who at the time was 6, and also eventually gave birth to a daughter who is 5 years younger than he was (she was a miracle baby).
he has diagnosed adhd, it was pretty intense when he was younger but after getting medication for it and diving into sports, it’s calmed down a bit...although it does still tend to flair up every now and then.
theo’s family was middle class, they lived in newark, new york (right outside new york city) in a humble home and were very tight knit. of course they had little family arguements here and there but, over all, he had a very wholesome childhood.
he found out he was adopted when he was pretty young, it wasn’t like his parents needed to tell him, he didn’t really look like his siblings or parents in the slightest but he was always assured that they loved him regardless and theo knew they meant that.
VERY MUCH involved in sports all throughout his life given his athletic ability, he loves sports (don’t get him started because he won’t stop). honestly, he just loves being involved and being a part of something. to quote high school musical “being a part of something special MAKES you special.”
outside of sports, however, he loves music...picking up guitar (mostly to impress a girl when he was younger) and he has a decent singing voice although he very much is more of a jock than a performer.
hermes claimed him when he was 12, he found out he was a demi-god when he was sixteen.
right before his sixteenth birthday, he was severely injured in a football game against another team. it was a rare day when he was off, as if something drained his energy, and he dislocated his shoulder. it was the ONLY TIME he used his powers to steal a larger amount of money since his parents would have to pay a lot for the surgery.
he is currently studying PSYCHOLOGY (cognitive) due to his adhd and wanting to learn more and help other people out there who might be struggling, although knowing how all over the place he is...he may switch at some point, who knows with him tbh??
SIMPLE WANTED CONNECTIONS FOR THIS GOLDEN RETRIEVER BOY:
best friends (2 or 3), brother/sister figures (2??), workout buddies (2 or 3), sports junkies such as himself, fwb (maybe 2 or 3, he is a pretty loyal little pup but he iS still a boy), exes (could end on good terms, bad terms, awkward terms who knows??), crushes (unrequited, mutual, secret??), enemies (1 or 2, theo doesn’t have many enemies but maybe someone isn’t about his good vibes?), party pals, coworkers, teammates, ANYTHING really.
i’ll probs make him a wanted connection page down the line when i get my stuff together hehe <3 feel free to dive into my DMSSSS!

Social Media: A new day and age
Over the past year or so we have seen some crazy things happen in this world, the shutdown of sports, restaurants, and basically, anything that you were used to doing daily did a complete 180-degree U-turn. So, like anything bad we’ve experienced, we started to find ways to work around these things. With that being said, it was presented as one of the hardest things that I’d ever have to do in almost twenty years of my life. Specifically figuring out ways in which my studies; sports management, can find ways to work around it. This is where we saw social media start to play a role in the everyday lives of individuals in the world of sports, and not just the world of sports but also companies, celebrities, etc. There are many reasons social media has received such good output, but there are also some negatives that revolve around it and I will also be going over some of those. It gave us as raving fans a different way to look at the game and it has taken over in that aspect. Giving us visuals through Instagram and YouTube, as well as applications like Twitter as a way for fans to communicate amongst themselves. Social media is truly changing the game and it proved that over these past 16 months where we thought nothing was possible.
To begin with, Sports teams themselves have started to use these online instruments very religiously to connect with the fans more. Social media has seemed to change the name of the game in a lot of ways. Connecting the fans to the players like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Nowadays, there’s nothing like commenting on your favorite team's Instagram and them commenting back to you. People love it and it's awesome to see that. Even players themselves have started YouTube channels and Tik-toks as a way to see them as actual people and not just football or basketball players etc. Social media has seemed to change the name of the game in a lot of ways. An article titled “Social Media and Football Fan Culture,” explains just how awesome social media has been in connecting fans with players, explaining that “Social media marketers and sports journalists could never have predicted how hugely important the internet has been with opening up a line of communication between sports stars and their fans”. I have even caught myself doing this, if you love watching these players on television, you love hearing them postgame and all these other things. Then watching them later in their own home where they feel the most comfortable. You get a whole other side to their story; it becomes personable and I believe that’s the biggest factor in this. It is one thing to know a person as a superstar but it’s a complete game-changer to get to know them as an actual person. This is something I think the limelight does is it blocks us from the fact that these people are human and not superheroes, and we must respect them for what they do behind closed doors.
To add on, I got the opportunity to interview Kyle Schackne who is the operations manager for both the Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Rowdies. As an operations manager, his job is to oversee the facilities that the team offers, helping out with events hosted by the teams, working with the social media team, and generally just being a Swiss army knife for the organizations. Kyle went to Flagler college where he played division two baseball and studied sports management. He is also an avid user of social media and believes in what it has done as far as connecting us the fans to these superstars that we all look up to. Explaining that the pros outweigh the cons as long as you are using it the right way and choosing the right direction when doing so. He talked about how awesome it is that they can build their resume on the field where they make their money and off the field in the way they interact with their fans. In an example,  he explained how he is an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan living in Florida and for obvious reasons struggles to keep up with what happens on campus and the social life behind it. But with social media, he can connect with the teams and the students wherever he may be in the world. In another example he gave me he says how much more personal the game of sports is today with what social media has given us. It was great to talk to Kyle and get an expert opinion on my topic, and I’m very glad that we could both agree without even shaking each other’s hands. This also shows just how impactful social media is outside of my general topic of sports management.
In addition, as I start to read more and more about social media and the way that it has impacted players and organizations. It seems that athletes either love what social media has done or they hate it. Some players have these YouTube channels while others are too scared to make a post on Twitter. In an article I was reading a player stated that “But as a professional athlete, in my case, sometimes it’s better not to post.” What does this mean exactly? It means that there are people out there that want to ruin your entire career, digging up tweets from the past and most of the time telling lies about these players. Social media although it has its pros, brings to the table more cons than you would think. In the age of Instagram and Snapchat news spreads in the blink of an eye and before you know it your life’s work could be at risk. This goes for everything though, not just these professional athletes, you have to be careful what you say and when you say things on social media. I believe that one of the biggest reasons for this is how high of a standard these people are held to, and for good reason. There are kids and kids especially wanting to be like just like Lebron James or a Lionel Messi, and just for this reason, they have to watch every single word they say. One mix-up in what is trying to be said and you may never hear the end of it. By nature, we are very invasive creatures and don’t like to give people their space especially when they need it. Being in the spotlight isn’t easy work for these athletes and that’s all the more reason why maybe social media isn’t the best idea for this group of people. In another article published by Zipper Studio, it talks about athletes and their personal life explaining “Should athletes be allowed to live a personal life? Absolutely. We think that’s all the more reason why they should not be involved in the social media space!” I completely agree with this and it sums up what I was trying to explain before. The spotlight is a lot of work and it should be enough work for these players. Social media has turned this world upside down and from an article written by Jarred Prier he exclaims “how social media is a modern tool for information-age warfare.” This is the foundation of understanding what information you are reading, by this I mean understanding what you believe is right or wrong. Something that in this day and age is very hard to understand. Leading you to many misdirections that you may not even be able to understand in the slightest. These are the many cons of social media but I hope the pros give you more hope.
Nevertheless, I still believe in what social media does for us as fans, fortunately for us, we aren’t the ones that have to worry about what we post as much as stars have to. That’s not to say we should take to the screens and voice every opinion we have but gives us reassurance that we aren’t being attacked like these athletes and stars are. As I was scrolling through Instagram just now, I again saw the effect that social media has on our society. A sideline reporter for the NBA was removed due to the recent backlash she received on her social media accounts. She has made multiple comments about another person and just like that she is on the hot seat of losing her job. I just hope as you have read this you have taken a step back at the harsh reality of social media. I’m not telling anyone to delete social media, I’m just hoping to raise a little more awareness of the negative effects that it can have on your own life. I still believe in what social media has set out to do and I love to watch some of my favorite stars and athletes. Although the many different cons that it brings along for the ride, the pros outweigh them completely. Just don’t let your emotions take over when using these applications, take a moment to sit back and think about what you’re saying. Because it’s not like you’re in front of thousands of people and need to say something on the spot. You are the only one that controls you’re Instagram so there’s no excuse in saying something that just doesn’t need to be said. Keep those harsh opinions to yourself and you may just find the good in what social media has to offer. A JSTOR article titled “Sport and Society” written by Frey and Eitzen mentions “that once an entity is displayed on television the sports organization is forever changed.” This is exactly what I have preached this entire essay, don’t make that dumb decision that could alter the course of your life. I know I have been explaining this in my world of things, consisting of my major and my hobbies. But this goes for anyone using social media whether it’s a professional athlete, big business owner, and even just everyday people. As I’ve repeated over and over again social media has brought our world closer to each other. As long as you are doing the right things online and not being a nuisance then there is no reason, we should see athletes and others stop using Instagram and Twitter among others. One thing I leave you with comes from an article titled “Social Media” which explains what it means to be “out of touch.” This means that you aren’t following trends in the world, not following trends in the world generally means you aren’t present in social media, and after reading what I have to say why the heck aren’t you?

l.jn: just shoot your shot
Tumblr media
summary: can jeno just be confident in himself? pls? pretty pls?
pairing: student-athlete!jeno x tutor! (fem) reader
warning: PROCEED WITH CAUTION! GRAMMAR MISTAKES! AND CRACKHEADS! ALSO CURSING! i’m back and i’m not dead so here’s some athlete!jeno that everyone was looking forward too. just a reminder, this is apart of my collab with @huangsren so check out her art-hoe! renjun and childhood-friend! chenle in our dreamies highschool au. i’m not really satisfied with this piece compared to my other two. hopefully, this still slaps. also, there will be for sure a second part to this so yuh. enjoy.
okay so let’s get this straight lee jeno is THAT guy whose in like all of the sports teams on campus
basketball, baseball, football, soccer, track and field, cross country, pickleball, etc he’s on them all
he was deadass about to join the cheerleading team just so he could have the clout of being on all of the teams
ngl imagine a cheerleader!jeno,,,hell yeah that’s my shit
but he didn’t bc he isn’t as big of a crackhead as one like to think
jeno has the reputation of the silent cold guy, but in actuality is a big FLOOF ball especially with his close friends (aka jaemin)
he’s well-liked by everyone bc he’s hecka nice once they look pass that cold exterior and he’s realllly hot.
just picture sweaty!jeno after practice using his shirt to wipe off his sweat allowing everyone to have a glimpse of his abs.
sign me the fuck up
he’s just extremely shy and socially awkward so he doesn’t really know how to interact w people when he meets them for the first time so a lot of people just think he’s that distant, angsty type
it still shocks a shit ton of people when they find out he’s best friends with the social butterfly/ fboi! jaemin but don’t get him wrong bc he doesn’t go around town breaking hearts left and right like his best buddy does
as much as jeno likes to deny it, he is a ROMANTICIST
way back in freshmen year, jeno was captivated by a teenage romance which he blames ara (from fucq-boi! jaemin au) for roping him into all those barbies and chick-flick movies.
like his heart flutters at the idea of his significant other wearing his jersey to his games or sharing a milkshake at the local ice cream parlor,,,he wants to give them his hoodie and cuddle on the couch (hopefully watching barbie princess charm school)
BABY BOY JUST WANTS TO BE LOVED !
but he doesn’t want it to be superficial like what jaemin does
he highly disapproves of jaemin’s casanova ways
jaemin is probably really glad about the bros before hoes rule bc he would have lost jeno a long time ago with all of the girls he goes through
jeno knows that love is a delicate thing and should be treated seriously which is why he’s so against jaemin’s date and ditch
and jeno wants to be in a relationship! but he can’t bc he has like NO time for the lovey-dovey highschool bs (also bc he’s highkey scared that he might ruin any relationship he gets himself into)
the boy has back to back practice from all the sports he decided to take on
on multiple occasions, different practice times interfere with each other and instead of just missing one like he SHOULD, jeno decided to take em both on at the same time
catch him sprinting from the soccer field to the football field back and forth in between break times
one time, basketball and swimming practice collided w each other so jeno thought it was smart to go back and forth from the school’s pool to the gym after he’d finish a 1000M IM set and shot at least 15 3-pointers
let’s just say he flashed a lot of people, running half-naked with only his drag suit on when he forgot to put on his sweatpants in one of his runs back and forth
art-hoe! renjun never lets him live it down much to his embarrassment
“remember that one-time jeno displayed his junk to the whole student body? good times, good times”
cue jeno throwing a pencil at renjun or chasing him down the halls
jeno’s abs were the talk of the school for at least a whole month and our boi had red cheeks every time he heard someone talk about it
because of that jeno double-checks, quadruple-checks to make sure that his pants are on before booking it to the gym to shoot hoops
ALSO
another reason why a lot of people find jeno so intimidating and hard to approach was bc of the fight that happened between his ex-friend! stoner-boi!haechan sophomore year
no one expected that the calm, seemingly unbothered jeno could throw punches that hard. it was like he transformed into the hulk or something
except jeno didn’t like the new reputation he gained over a stupid fight with his once close friend.
there’s one nasty habit that jeno can’t seem to let go of no matter how much jaemin and renjun tell him to fix
the boy holds onto grudges like there’s no tomorrow
there was one time where jaemin had to borrow jeno’s phone for something and he accidentally dropped it
“hey can i borrow your phone to call someone? mine’s dead.” jaemin asked him.
“no, last time i gave it to you, you cracked it”
“dude! it was one time”
“say that to my cracked screen”
“for goodness sake, jeno, i only cracked your screen protector!”
“still you broke it”
yeah, jaemin never got to use jeno’s phone ever again.
someone didn’t give back the pencil he lent them? he doesn’t even look in their direction until jaemin nags him enough to just let it go
which is probably why he and haechan still vehemently hate each other even though renjun and jaemin are ready to go talk things out with haechan
some part deep down insides knows he should just let it go and actually talk things out with haechan on why he initiated the fight bc haechan was once someone jeno considered as a bro
and jeno doesn’t give out bro passes as easily
he just doesn’t know how to approach haechan or if haechan would even be willing to talk it through
it’s kinda sad how the two of them don’t even look each other in the eye or acknowledged each other existence anymore
other than that jeno is practically flawless, jk
as much as he is very enthusiastic in physical education, when it comes to math, science, etc, jeno is basically flunking. like borderline passing in all of his classes
he was for sure failing math though which is a HUGE problem…bc to stay on any team sport, he CAN’T be failing a class
which is why jeno was currently spending his free period, in the library, furiously erasing his wrong answer for the problem he tried multiple times to solve. it was the first math problem on the remedial work packet that his math teacher gave him for extra practice.
even his friend, smartass renjun gave up on helping him and went to go toy around with his telescope, going on a tangent about renjun’s alien conspiracies theories.
if only jeno could have renjun’s genius brain, life would be so much easier
slamming his head on the table, jeno let out a low groan of frustration at whoever decided that it was a good idea to mix number and letters together.
“dude, can you not?” he heard someone say from next to him.
he lifted his head to take a peek…and this is where you come in, glaring at him with murder on your mind
jeno’s just staring at you and the fool does not recognize you at all
NCT High isn’t a big place either so he would have come across you once or twice, but you were simply a new face to him.
you, at this point, grew annoyed at the boy who was just shameless staring at you.
“is there something on my face?” you asked with a raised eyebrow
slowly he shakes his head ‘no’
“keep it down, i’m trying to sleep” you warned him before laying your arms now with your head resting on it, faced away from jeno.
jeno, who was awe-struck for second at your frank personality, decided that it was time to have another go at the problem and looked at it again
yeah there was no way in hell he was going to be able to solve it, he was too fucking lost
atm jeno is like .000000001 seconds away from having a mental breakdown because if he doesn’t pass his test this friday he’s going to be benched and if he fails the class then he loses his status of team captain and his spot on the soccer team which he cannot afford to bc it was SENIOR year and he should be living in all of his sports glory right now
and what if he can’t graduate? he can’t be a super senior like lucas wong like nooo that can definitely not happen
literally, jeno, stop freaking out - sincerely admin minnie
suddenly while he was having an overthinking session, his paper and pencil were taken away from him. he watches as the culprit (you) quickly solve the problems on the piece of paper in record time with wide eyes
letting out a small huff, you gave him back the paper wordlessly before going back to your previous sleeping positions hoping to get back to your precious nap time. your actions leaving jeno’s mouth opened in awe as his eyes glances back and forth between the answer sheets and the ones you provided him, both matching up perfectly with no mistake
he looks back at your sleeping form and wonders if you’re an actual prodigy like renjun
but jeno also feels really bad for disturbing your nap so he lets you be and tries to quietly work on the other problems and review how you solved the ones he had trouble on earlier
except he’s even more confused bc there was more numbers and letters;; no comprendo
jeno’s brain: ajadkf;dskjhg;ajdsvf;
he contemplates ask you for help or a basic explanation since there was no way that jeno learned how to solve that in class (he did, he just slept through the lecture because he was dead-beat tired after a heavy soccer practice from the night before)
jeno’s fear of flunking overweighed his social awkwardness so he pokes you gently with his pencil eliciting a grumpy “what do you want, now?” from you
gulping, jeno mumbles a small “can you help me, i don’t understand how you solved this”
you looked intently at jeno not answering his questions causing the boy to instantly regret asking, but surprisingly you replied
“what don’t you get?” you rubbed the sleep out of your eyes and shifted towards the male
“i don’t even know what i don’t know”
i felt that jeno. i felt that.
he pulls the piece of paper between the two of you and points to a problem that you did with ease
“oh, so you’re so supposed to…” you launched off into an explanation filled with math terms that adds more to jeno’s confusion
sensing that jeno still wasn’t understanding, you let out a big sigh
“sorry, it just doesn’t make sense in my head” jeno admitted shyly
at first, you were gonna say something snappy about how even an eighth-grader could do this problem easily, you held it back because you actually felt bad since jeno was trying so hard
you also weren’t going to deny that lw jeno looked quite cute with that adorable slight pout on his face
“let’s just take it slow, i’ll explain step by step”
so you did just that, patiently teaching the methods and theorems to jeno who constantly made that confused noise every time you introduced something new to the table
the two of you worked through five of the worksheets and jeno was actually understanding it! horray!
you were explaining the last problem to jeno when he stops you with a question that was completely off-topic
“why are you helping me?”
it was simple question so you answered it simply.
“because you looked like you need it.” you shrugged “i was trying to take a nap earlier but it was too loud for me with your constant erasing”
“sorry” jeno said looking down at his lap, embarrassed that he was a nuisance to you
you kind felt bad ngl so you quickly reassured him
“don’t worry about it. you remind me of my idiotic friends, not that you’re an idiot though. actually, no comment.”
we love a blunt y/n.
you clicked the pen you were holding and placed it down, “i moved here a couple months ago so i barely know anyone. now that it’s senior year, everyone already has their own friend group so why bother trying to join them?”
jeno makes another confused noised at your blunt statement.
you wondered if that particular noise has some type of effect on you due to the fact that you have a sudden urge to explain your situation to the boy you hardly knew for more than the hour
“i used to go to miroh high, but my dad got a transfer here so he decided to enroll me at this school without my say. i left all my friends back there sadly”
“that sucks,” was all that jeno could say.
damn his inability to socialize like a normal human being.
you nodded, “yeah, it does, but it’s not that bad. my friends make an effort to come down here most weekend and sometimes i drive up there too.” you turn to look at him and jeno freezes at the sudden eye contact “actually, you remind me of my friend hyunjin. he was kind of a ditz in anything that wasn’t sports”
“wait, how do you know that i play sports?” jeno asked confused
“dude, everyone knows that you’re the school’s mvp.” you said as if it’s obvious “you’re not as intimidating as they say you are though.”
damn it
he was hoping you had no idea who he was so that could relieve his guilt of not knowing who you were despite being in the same graduating class.
at the same time, he was glad that he seemed to have made a good impression on you
“don’t worry, i won’t spill your little secret” you gestured to the worksheets which had red pen markings all over it, signs of jeno’s failures. you figured that the school’s star jock didn’t want the school knowing his inability to solve basic 12th-grade math problem
you reached under the table to grab your backpack, causing jeno to reach a hand out to grasp your wrist
“wait, where are you going?”
a part of him was afraid that he was going to forget everything you taught him once you left, but the other part was extremely curious about you and wanted to know more
“i have somewhere to go?” you looked down at his hand and back up at him “you have something else you want to say?”
sensing that his grip was making you feel uncomfortable, he quickly pulled his hand away. rubbing the back of his neck. he avoids your eyes, opting to stare at your feet instead.
“this might be a little weird, but can you please tutor me? at least until next week when i have to take my make-or-break test.” jeno plead, embarrassment rushed to his cheeks in the form of a red blush when he realized how desperate he sounded.
you let out a tiny giggle, totally different from your persona earlier.
you took his pencil that was laying on the table to scribble something on the corner of his worksheet. patting his shoulder, you quickly left the boy staring at the piece of paper.
don’t get confused (127) 312-0325 :)
a stupid smile made it’s way onto jeno’s lips as he quickly packed up his things in haste. he practically skips to soccer practice. maybe he even heel-clicked.
lee jeno is not failing math!
cute tutor acquired!
woohoo!
but also, there’s this weird tingly feeling that jeno has inside.
he doesn’t know what exactly it was but most likely it’s probably the reason why he was a goofy-ass smile on his face
“dude, are you okay?” one of his teammates ask after he gets hits in the head with a soccer ball
jeno, not even fazed by it one bit, just smiles and gives his teammates a big thumbs up
“coach, i think there’s something wrong with jeno!”
anyways, that night he’s extremely excited to text you.
imagine jeno on his bed, laying on his stomach feet up in the air, taking at least an hour to construct a response that doesn’t make him seem lame or a fifty-year-old man like all of his friends say he texts like
jeno is probably the type of person that texts, with all the correct capitalization and actual punction plus awkward spacing and usage of emojis
this time he tried to be chill about it
jeno: hey, it’s me, jeno. sorry for bothering you this late at night, but i don’t understand this problem. can you help me pls?
sent.
now jeno was currently awaiting your response….however, you don’t reply right away like jeno for some reason expects
he takes the waiting time to scroll through his social media and it’s the usual things he sees every day
he sees the juniors’ chenle and his weird little friend talking about some sort of prank they’re going to pull, jaemin’s spam post on how he was stuck making prom decorations to fulfill his community service requirements, etc
however, a sudden post from @/luccasss caught his attention
especially the girl sitting on top of an old blue car with the senior, middle fingers up
his eyes glance at the caption quickly
me and my main bitch fucking it up (pc to our little kiddo)
wait a minute.
jeno could remember you saying how you didn’t bother making friends w anyone, so what are you doing with the lucas wong?
now lucas wong doesn’t have that great of a reputation around campus, especially since he was a held back his senior year. he blows off class and jeno has heard that he’s in cahoots with the stoners on campus too
your account is tagged in the picture and luckily it’s on public, so jeno could secretly and shamefully stalk your page
while looking through your photos, jeno realizes that he really doesn’t know anything about…. you
tbh he didn’t even know your name until he saw your bio and username. (facepalm @ jeno)
scrolling through your photos, he saw you posing with other boys and girls that he didn’t recognize making him assume that they were your friends from your old school
his fingers land on a picture where you’re kissing a cheek of ridiculously good looking guy. checking the tag, he sees that it’s a guy whose username was something along the lines of cb_97
imma miss my ddy chan <3!! owo
as he scrolling through the chan guy’s instagram, jeno becomes more dejected bc maybe he was too deep in his imagination that he got from watching too many dramas with ara
letting out a sad sigh, jeno clicks his phone off and settles into bed. the more he thinks about it the more he feels insignificant to you which he was.
for all he knows, he’s just a random kid in the library that you helped with a few math problems
the next day, jeno walks into school with no pep in his step :(
and as his certified besties, jaemin and renjun drag him into an empty classroom during lunch prying him to confess what’s got him down in the dumps
and jeno knows he can’t hide anything from his besties so he just lets it all out
jaemin, taking a long blink after his bff’s rant to process the newly acquired tea  “wow, bro. you got the feels”
“exactly,” jeno groans “i only talked to her once! she doesn’t even know me!”
“she knows you suck at math,” renjun points out
and jeno threatens to throw a chair at his friend, but jaemin quickly stops him
“okay, how about you just take it slow? like get to know her and let her get to know you. it could be that you’re just overthinking her kindness for helping you when you were desperate. appreciation is different from admiration” ngl jaemin was kinda-sorta right
“btw, who is this chick anyway? you haven’t told us who it was” renjun asked, sitting on one of the empty desks
“y/n, she transferred a couple months ago from miroh”
renjun abruptly jumps to his feet, “the y/n l/n? the new math teacher’ daughter?”
“you know her?” jeno quirks an eyebrow
“dude she’s in my ap calculus class and she has the highest grade, but she never shows up to class,” renjun tells him. “she’s a straight, badass genius”
jeno feels stupider as renjun continues to list all of your achievements and the art boy makes it seem like all of them were done effortlessly.
how stupid was he in your eyes when he couldn’t solve regular senior math problems while you were out here solving college-based ones?
now you seem like a person farther and father away from him.
jaemin, his good-ol-buddy knows that jeno is over-analyzing the new information renjun was telling him, and he tries his best to hype is buddy up
“c’mon, you might not be a genius at math but you certainly are on any field, pool, and court. have some confidence!”
deep down jeno knows that he should listen to his friend and that he should just be more confident in himself, but he can’t shake his feeling of insecurity and doubt
so the next time he sees you laying on the empty table in the non-fiction section sleeping, he’s a bit more reluctant to approach you. instead, he quietly sits in the seat next to you as he pulls out his practice sheets to work and miserably fail on
except you don’t wake up for a looong time until jeno accidentally sneezes too loud, causing you to awaken
opening your eyes, you see the boy look at you with wide eyes as if he’s done something terribly wrong by waking you up
“why do you look like i’m about to kill you or something?” you giggled watching as the boy in front of you became very flustered “why didn’t you wake me up when you came here?”
“oh, you look like you were in deep sleep, so i didn’t want to wake you up”
you stretched your arms out, one hand over your mouth as you let out an inaudible yawn, “don’t worry about it. i’m always sleeping”
you blamed all of your fatigue on lucas as it was his fault that you were tired out of your mind from the little night adventure he roped both you and a junior named eun (y/n from childhood-friend!chenle’s au) into.
honestly, if it weren’t for lucas’s annoying ass laugh waking you up from your nap that one day, you probably wouldn’t have befriended the big bumbling bafoon.
“yeah, but apparently i’m failing the twelfth-grade again bc i’m not allowed to just go to homeroom and p.e. i mean, who wants to learn about FUNCTIONS when you could just be looking up memes in the library?!?” - lucas wong, 2019
despite lucas’s overwhelming personality, you were quite thankful to have him as he reminded you of your old friends back at miroh, it was nice.
eun was a soft-spoken child that often had to turn to you or lucas (which wasn’t always a good idea) for advice that you both were happy to give to the underclassmen.
personally, you didn’t care that you only had like two friends, quality over quantity right?
“earth to jeno?” you waved your hand in front of his face as he stayed unresponsive
he mumbles something inaudible and points at a problem
your eyes gloss over it taking in the problem, before quickly grabbing a pen and solving it. you spoke slowly as you explained the step-by-step solution that jeno had to do.
when you look back at jeno to make sure that he was understanding the content, you noticed how the jock is off in his own universe and not paying attention to you.
“please don’t make me repeat that again,” you sigh, catching jeno’s attention. you capped the pen and lightly tossed it on the table, proceeding to stretch out your hands above your head.
“sorry”
“what’s up with you?” you asked, wondering why the boy who seemed desperate for your help yesterday, was now acting like he could care less. “and don’t give me that stupid, generic “nothing” bullshit.”
“sorry, football was tough last night,” jeno said quietly, focusing on the problem.
despite not being involved in the school festivities, you knew that it was well past football season. and that meant that jeno was lying to you.
there was a slight pang of disappointment, but you pushed it aside. what were you expecting anyway? he probably only saw you as a tutor.
you weren’t even his friend for fuck’s sake
“let’s move onto the next problem” you say, quickly changing the subject.
honestly, the two of you were fucking idiots. smh
despite there being awkward tension between the two of you, you’re tutoring was actually very very helpful for jeno. he could actually understand what was going on in math class now.
remember that test he had to take to ensure that he could play for his soccer match? jeno passed that with flying colors thanks to your careful explanations
even after that test, the two of you kept your tutoring arrangement;;;and maybe jeno was falling even harder for you.
he couldn’t help it though! the way you run your fingers through your hair or the way you puff out your cheeks when you’re trying to think of a way to explain something to jeno just makes leaves him star-struck. and every time he gets a problem right without your help, the proud smile that you give him makes his heart leap
it wasn’t like you were safe from the love bug either!!
lee jeno was hard not to like and he was even harder to not fall for.
the little cute noises that he makes when he’s lost, the way his eyes go wide when he finally understands the problem, and the eye-smile he gives you when he gets a problem right.
your heart literally went uwu when jeno offered you his hoodie bc the two of you were sitting underneath the ac vent and you were shivering.
when you tried to give it back to him, he just shook his head and said “keep it, just in case you get cold”
lee jeno was not healthy for your heart. uwu hours 24/7
but the two of you were stuck in this weird relationship bc the two of you weren’t exactly friends, but also not strictly tutoring. you would share laughs here and there, but then quickly it would dial down and returned back to the math problems
some times when he was texting you, he would send a cute gif to show you that he understood and sometimes you would tell him about something funny/stupid lucas+eun or your other friends did.
“just ask him out,” lucas tells you bluntly as the both of you chilled on the bleachers during lunch.
“hard pass”
“fine, then i’ll do it.” lucas shrugs, eliciting a hard smack from you
“don’t embarrass me, you asstwat”
“who said i was asking him out for you? that boy is a fine piece of meat”
“istg, lucas, i’ll actually gouge your eyes out” you deadpanned.
but big ol’ oaf lucas doesn't see you as an actual threat. and he reaches out to grab your cheeks causing your face to form into a fish pout
“can you even reach me?” he teases, shaking around your face
and this the part where you’re pulling lucas into a headlock, oblivious to the fact that jeno was watching your toughy actions from afar
he kicked the soccer ball angrily into the goal causing jaemin to duck with a small shriek to avoid getting his head decapitated by jeno’s fastball
“dude wtf!” jaemin shouts
“sorry,” jeno mutters.
jaemin looks over to where jeno was staring at and saw you and lucas being really handsy with each other. from that distance that the two boys were looking it, it didn’t look like the roughhousing the two of you were actually doing
you pulling his hair to them looked like you were playing around with it
jaemin’s buddy jeno be looking like a kicked puppy rn, muttering under his breath about his shortcommings
jaemin is bout ready to slap him upside down the head for having no confidence or whateves
“can you stop talking shit about my bestfriend now?” jaemin @ jeno but the boy is on a whole ass rant on why he sucks in comparison to lucas
“of course she doesn’t like me. she has a whole lucas wong and he’s 6′0 ft of handsomeness. he’s fun and exciting, i’m staler than a moldy piece of bread!”
can jeno just love himself??????? is that to much to ask?
“i’ll just never be good enough for her. i’m not her type, she can do better than me.”
cue jaemin intense internal screaming
one day, jeno was going to your usual sitting spot in the library when he sees lucas chilling with eun—a girl that he’s seen around with his friend chenle. they were both laughing at something on lucas’s phone.
jeno looks at the sight confused. cause like aren’t you and lucas a thing? like why was this boy looking really chummy with this underclassmen?
so jeno clears his throat to catch their attention and both of them look at him like “who tf are you?”
“where’s y/n? she’s suppose to be tutoring me” jeno says
a look of recognition flashes across lucas’s and eun’s at the sound of y/ns name. the younger female whispers something to the senior causing him to clap his hands.
“oh so you’re, jeno??” lucas says in this voice
and jeno awkwardly nods
“yeah, y/n is skipping school today so she told me to tell you to look over the notes she wrote out for you” lucas pulled out a notebook and handed it to jeno
jeno flips through it carefully, examining the words you wrote in your familiar handwriting; there was also a highlight code system and little side comments to help him
“thanks” jeno about to leave but lucas’s next comments stop him
“you’re lucky that y/n likes you enough to do that for you. she wouldn’t even tell me whats 4x4 when i asked her” lucas slumped into his seat
“that because she thinks you have chronic stupidity” the underclassmen said, giggling
“aren’t you suppose to be on my side you little pipsqueak” lucas says jokily, rubbing her head.
and jeno is watching the exchange, getting more and more confused
did y/n know that lucas was hanging out w another girl without you?
“did you need something else, jeno?”  eun asked him
jeno is about to say no, but different words left his mouth
“aren’t you dating y/n, lucas?”
there was a silence that lasted for a good minute, both lucas and the underclassmen giving jeno a blank stare….
until lucas bust out into ugly laughter, bent over his seat delirious and eun was also laughing along but not to the same degree.
was it really that funny? jeno be staying confused
it wasn’t until the librarian came to shush the two did they stop laughing
lucas wiped away tears of laughter from his eyes “that was a good one!”
“what do you mean?” jeno asked
“pffft eun would rather date a rabid animal than me,” lucas said “she’s only friends w me bc i forced her to be”
oh! that was news to jeno
“besides, lucas isn't y/n’s type” eun revealed, shocking jeno
oh really now?
“yeah, you fit her type really well,” lucas stated nonchalantly.
eun is like BRUH WHY WOULD YOU REVEAL THAT but doesn’t say anything and kicks lucas underneath the table. she could already picture the pure anger once her friend found out that lucas spilled her secret crush that easily.
robot jeno is just standing there holding the notebook and deep in thought.
“is he okay?” lucas whispers, looking up and down at jeno. eun shrugs in response
bOOM jeno zoom zooms away and the two high schoolers shrug at the jocks before returning to looking at dank memes
jeno basically charges down to the only female he’s friends with for advice, ara. (go read my fucqboi! jaemin for the backstory!)
conveniently, he finds both his jaemin and ara standing at her locker talking. tbh it looked more like jaemin trying to flirt with ara and her ignoring him.
but right now his friend’s girl problems were the least of jeno’s concerns!
so jeno basically hulk yanks jaemin away from ara and has the most serious expression on his face “i need your help, ara”
“huh?”
and he drags ara off to a more secluded place to explain his current situation to, ignoring jaemin’s whines
“to be honest with you, i think you need to have more confidence. now that you know that she isn't interested in lucas, why don’t you just take the initiative to confess?” ara says once jeno explained to her every juicy detail of his hopeless love story.
“because i don’t think that she likes me. there’s nothing special about me. the only things i’m good at are sports and that’s not very interesting!” jeno exclaims “she probably thinks i’m an actual idiot!”
“jeno, listen, i’m only going to say this once, but please please understand that you’re a very special person, okay? you’re extremely hard-working, nice, and honestly very fun to be around. it would take a fool to not like you, lee jeno.” ara sighed, patting her friend’s shoulder “just shoot your shot. if it doesn’t make it in, it’s okay.”
but jeno doesn’t like leaving things to chance. he wants to be sure and he hates uncertainty.
“when you’re competing or playing against someone, you have no idea how the whole game is going to pan out. all you know to do is to try your best and go all out to ensure the very best result so that you can win. liking someone is like that, you just have to go forward and hopefully, you’ll be able to score a home run or a touchdown.”
that was sum deep shit
after listening carefully to ara’s words, jeno came to a conclusion
maybe
just maybe
jeno will take a chance.
reaching into his pocket, he pulls out his phone and sends a text.
jeno: can you meet me at neo ice cream later? i have something important to tell you.
y/n: yeah ofc. i’ll see you at 4
he had soccer practice today and for the very first time, jeno was skipping practice, his favorite time. the only time where he’s ever fully confident in his abilities, where his stupid insecurities can’t get to him.
this was more important the temporary self-gratification that jeno gets when he’s able to fly through practice with ease
lee jeno was taking a leap, unsure of where he’ll fall.
today, he’ll shoot his shot. and hopefully, you’ll catch.

Defenseless Ch. 2
Tumblr media
synopsis: CJ Jackson, looks like she has it all. Fancy car, fancy house, name  brand clothing. Her parents, top boosters to Beverly, with money to make all sorts of situations go away. As well as the Jackson family looks put together, past secrets haunt them. With the new transfer student catching the eye of CJ Jackson, can old friendships be fixed. Or are somethings just meant to stay broken. "I told you, as long as I live, no one would know."
word count: 5.2k
pairing: Jordan Baker x OC (CJ Jackson)
warnings: talk of drugs, talk of addiction, talk of a juvenile being in trouble, teen drinking, language, high school boys being high school boys.
"Maybe, we shouldn't have kept her in that school."
"Chris, we talked about this. The best way for her to contain a normal life is by staying there."
"You didn't hear her cry today, Pauline." She could hear his heavy sigh, "That baby has lost everything, and you know how teenagers can be. I don't want to lose her anymore than we already have."
"I can email Mrs. Riley, and tell the boys to be on the lookout for her. You know Colton won't let anything slip."
CJ heard her dad's loud laughter from the spot she sat. She sat on the dark staircase behind the kitchen wall listening to her parents talk. After she had come home from her terrible dance rehearsal, she had hid in her room all night doing homework and listening to music.
"Oh I know," Her dad said, "Cobe won't let anything slip either. Carver has some pull with the football boys. Roman will help too."
"What more of an Army does one girl need." Her mother said.
CJ smiled weakly, thinking of all the boys in her life. Cobe, the eldest Jackson boy, was a senior, and a soccer star. He ruled the field much like he ruled the school being the student body preside. And, holds the title like if he were the king. Every booster presentation, he wore his best suit and tie, cleaned his shoes, and had his waves done perfectly. The whole Jackson family thought he would go to Stanford or Yale, his dream colleges, but he caught them all off guard by joining the Army when he turned 18. Their mother was pissed, and didn't talk to him for 2 days. Pauline sat down with her oldest, scolded him for not telling her, but listened to his side, and supported him.
Colton and CJ were twins. Colton being the older one, and not letting CJ live that down, at all. They both had the biggest brown eyes, ones that looked like pools of honey when the sunlight caught them. Colton's main focus was basketball, and everything basketball. There were times that he wished he was named after the great Kobe Bryant. But Cobe always reminded that he should've been born first. Colton was yet to commit anywhere, wanting to wait until after his junior year. He was praying for UCLA or LSU.
Carver was the youngest Jackson sibling, being a sophomore, and an amazing tight-end, getting his dad's football talent. Even as a sophomore, he had offers already, but much like Colton, he was waiting until senior year. Carver, even though as athletic as the other brothers, was also involved in other things. Music was his passion, growing up with old "cook-out" music- as their father would say- lead him to wanting to be a music major. Carver's room was littered with vinyl records, concert posters, and 8-tracks. CJ and Carver could spend hours arguing about the main message behind Tupac's Dear Mama.
Roman was the last boy in CJ's life. He, unlike the other boys, was not related to CJ. Roman was also on the football team, and played defensive end. He was a junior like CJ and Colton. Roman had basically lived in the Jackson house, being best friends with Colton, and dating Carver. Roman and Carver had been dating for almost 2 years now, and no one knew besides the Jackson family.
Carver was out to the school, and everyone couldn't be prouder of him. Carver wasn't afraid to be who he was. The boys on the football team accepted him. But Roman, was fearful of what his parents would do. He grew up in church, and hearing his mother curse about the pride parade every year in Beverly Hills. He was terrified about what his football friends would say. Yeah, they accepted Carver, but that didn't stop the whispers in the locker room when Carver would leave.
"He was totally starring at your junk," "If he tackles you, he might get hard" "Don't catch the ball like a fairy" "I don't wanna be the only one in the showers with him," "We should get rainbow uniforms" "Maybe he would do better on the cheer team"
All the siblings had heard the whispers and rallied around Carver. CJ was Carver's biggest fan, and biggest fighter. She had taken Carver to his first pride parade when he was in 8th grade. It broke Carver when CJ was sent away. He would visit her every weekend, and send letters nonstop. He was thrilled when she came home early. But like everyone else, he had a reputation to uphold. So even he turned his back on her at school today.
"It'll all work out for her, she's too strong to let anything break her." Pauline said coming up to her husband. She wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her cheek to his back, "Where are they anyway? It's too quiet."
"CJ is around the corner." Chris said and CJ froze. "You've been sitting on those stairs since you were a little girl. Can't believe there's no ass print in the wood yet."
"Chris!" Pauline said laughing. CJ let out a laugh and stood up from the stairs. She walked into the kitchen in her baggy basketball shorts and a loose t-shirt, that was probably one of her brothers, "Hey baby girl." Pauline kissed CJ's forehead, as she walked over to the oven to get dinner out, "Cauliflower steaks- request from Cobe, with  asparagus, zucchini, mushroom sauce. Pasta salad and mac n cheese for a side. Apple pie for dessert, request from-"
"Me! Ain't no more goofy ass fake ass-"
"Finish that sentence, Colton, I dare you." Mom said giving Colton her famous glare. Colton shut his mouth real quick and kissed his mom's cheek as he came and grabbed a water out of the fridge, "Boy! Go shower too! You stank!"
"Smell of success, momma!" Colton said lifting his arms up, and showing off the pit stains on his red t-shirt.
"Ugh! Who the hell let the skunk in?" Cobe said coming down the stairs and smelling Colton.
"You think you got jokes, Pres?" Colton said walking over to his older brother.
"At least he don't smell like an onion." Carver said, Roman tagging along behind him, coming into the kitchen.
"Y'all all smell!" CJ said laughing. All the boys looked at each other, before all running over to CJ.
The girl squealed and took off running from her brothers. She ran towards the opening to the living room, but Cobe ran around the other side and blocked her. She quickly turned towards the dinning room, where Carver was waiting for her. Carver ran towards her, and CJ turned around running towards the kitchen again, where her dad was ready to catch her. She dodged past her dad, and was quickly picked up in strong arms. She fought against them until she was thrown into the pool.
"Ah!" She screamed as she hit the cold water. She came up from the water splashing, and laughed as she saw all 4 men, plus Roman laughing on the pool side, "Y'all think y'all funny?"
"Oh we real funny." Colton said.
"You children!" Pauline laughed coming out of the kitchen. She threw her dish towel over her shoulder and crossed her arms. All 5 males turned towards her and froze, "Y'all done with the games?"
"Yes ma'am." They all answered at the same time.
"Good. Cobe, you're gym bag does not live by the front door, pick it up. Colton, I know I didn't raise you to smell like a garbage can, hit the shower. Carver, see that table in there, set it. Roman, you can help him. Mr. Jackson, that  salad ain't gonna make itself." Pauline said, and all the boys went their instructed ways, "And you," She said looking at her daughter who was soaking wet in the pool, "Dry off and get clean."
The next day, The Jackson siblings all arrived together in their shiny white Jeep Wrangler. Colton parked the car next to Roman's black Tahoe. CJ used to joke that Roman looked like security detail for a famous person driving that black SUV around.
"Morning, Jacksons." Roman said to the bunch as they got out of the car. Roman gave a head nod to Carver. Carver rolled his eyes and slammed the door shut.
"You going to Mrs. Riley first?" Colton asked his younger sister.
"Have to every day." CJ answered and Colton sighed, "Go on, I'll be fine."
"Mom said to look-"
"I know what mom said," CJ cut off Cobe, "But I can handle myself."
"You can eat lunch with me and Alana." Cobe offered to his sister, who just scrunched her nose up.
"If there's anyone that I hate more than Emily Pierce, it's Alana Kadee." CJ said and pulled her bag over her loose t-shirt, "I'll be fine. Besides, I have him." CJ smiled seeing Spencer waiting behind her group of brothers, "Bye."
The boys watched as CJ pushed through them and over to Spencer James, who greeted the Jackson girl with a wide smile. The two of them walked into school together, and could fell all eyes on them.
"We trust him?" Colton asked the guys.
"He a good guy, little rough on the team player shit, but he's good." Roman said.
"As long as he don't do pull a Jordan Baker on her, I'm fine with it." Cobe said and the guys agreed. "Ain't no man gonna hurt my sister again."
CJ had battled her way through Anatomy, composition, and physics by the time the lunch bell had rang. Spencer waited outside of the girl's classroom and walked with her to lunch. Spencer talked about practice and a pool party at the Baker household. CJ was quiet and let Spencer vent practice and how it went.
"So how was it hanging out with the steroid set?" CJ asked, as she picked up a piece of her sushi.
"Are you serious?" Spencer asked the girl.
CJ laughed and shook her head, "I'm kidding. I used to mess with them and say that."
Spencer laughed and studied the girl before asking, "What happened between you and them? They know you, but they act like they don't wanna know you."
CJ took a deep breath, she knew this would come up sooner or later, "We used to be close, and then things happened. They became football stars and I became the. . .social pariah of Beverly High school."
"Man, shut up you're cool." Spencer said.
"Okay, yeah, says the new guy." CJ joked, "It's shocking, I know, but no one is eager to hang out with juvie girl, post detention center."
"Juvie? Elaborate."
"I just went down a bad path, things happened out of my control." CJ shrugged, "Parents paid a big time lawyer to help me out, and here I am. 75k and 90 days later. I'm fine now, just 90 days of parole."
"Is it?" Spencer asked, looking into her honey brown eyes.
CJ was about to answer, when a tray was placed loudly down on the table. The Jackson girl looked up and saw Cobe swinging his leg over the lunch table bench. Before CJ could protest him sitting there, Roman pulled up next to her. Carver sat his stuff down on the other side of Spencer, and Colton decided to nestle himself right in between CJ and Spencer. CJ rolled her eyes and leaned forward to still talk to Spencer.
"Spencer, meet the other, uglier versions of me. Cobe, Colton, Carver, and Roman- the adopted brother." CJ said introducing the boys.
"Nice to meet you," Spencer said politely, greeting all of the boys.
"Welcome to Beverly, I'm Colton, older twin, basketball star, black belt."
"He's lying." "I'm not lying." The twins said at the same time. CJ glared at her twin brother, as a familiar female voice started speaking.
"Spencer?" The voice asked, "Oh hey Jackson brothers, and Roman."
"Hey Layla," Carver answered the light-skinned girl.
"I'm throwing a party at my place tonight. It's just a small team thing, to celebrate the start of the season, and I was hoping you could make it." Layla spoke. CJ looked down at her food and picked at it as she was talking. Cobe could feel the tension rolling off of his younger sister's body, and wanted to yell at Layla for even approaching them.
"Yeah, for sure. We'll try to come by for a bit." Roman answered for the boys. Layla smiled at him and looked at CJ.
"Great," Layla said to the table, "Bye CJ." CJ looked up at Layla as she walked away and didn't say anything. The boys all looked at CJ who just rolled her eyes. Colton watched Spencer, as his head followed Layla as she walked away, and gave him a look.
"What?" Spencer asked.
"A, she's taken. That's Asher's girlfriend, okay?" Colton said.
"And B, those parties, I'd stay clear." CJ spoke up.
Spencer agreed, but there was a look in his eye that gave away his true intentions. The lunch bell rang, dismissing the teens back to class. CJ said goodbye to the boys before heading to Mrs. Riley's room for a check in and get her community service project.  Her project was based out of Crenshaw Community Center. She'd be tutoring elementary and middle school children in Science.
When dance practice rolled around, CJ was determined to take her spot back. CJ was the first one dressed and in the gym for practice. It gave her enough time to turn her phone on and go over the Countdown dance, like it was supposed to be done.
Jordan could hear the music from down the hall as he walked Hadley to the locker room, "Are you late?" He asked his girlfriend.
"No. . . it must be Emily practicing. No matter how hard she tries, she will never be CJ good. That girl is amazing, the way she can move. Looks just like her mom when she's dancing." Hadley spoke.
"Yeah. I remember all those dance awards on her walls." Jordan smiled remembering going to her competitions, "I should get going," Jordan kissed Hadley goodbye before walking down the hallway towards the music coming from the gym.
Jordan stood in the doorway in awe, watching the way CJ flawlessly moved around the space. She was completely lost in the tempo of the song playing. Her body was telling a story, and so was the song she chose. Jordan could see the pain that was coming across in her movements. The way it looked like she couldn't catch the beat, but she was perfectly on time.
"Just don't give up, I am working it out. Please don't give in, I won't let you down. It messed me up, need a second to breathe. Just keep coming around. Hey, whataya want from me. Whataya want from me?"
Jordan couldn't help but feel guilt listening to the words. The song was picked for a reason, and CJ knew it. He watched as she flawlessly leaped into the air, and land it perfectly. Her turns were executed without any hesitation and with full control. When the music finished, she ended on her knees, her chest moving up and down rapidly as her eyes were closed, trying to slow her heart rate.
Jordan didn't know if he should clap or say something, before he could move he heard clapping from the other side of the gym. CJ opened her eyes and briefly glanced at Jordan before looking to where the sound was coming. Spencer James walked into the gym, a wide smile on his face, and CJ stood up from the ground. Jordan left as Spencer started talking to the girl. He headed down to the football locker room, trying even harder to forget about CJ Jackson.
"That was. . . amazing." Spencer spoke to the light skin girl.
"Thanks. I listened to a lot of music in juvie, and this was one of my favorite songs. It spoke to me." CJ said and her eyes drifted over to where Jordan was standing.
"Well it was amazing." Spencer said.
"It was," The pair was cut off by a familiar annoying voice breaking into the gym, "Excuse me, Spencer is it? You need to leave, closed practice. And CJ, next time you want extra ''practice'' run it by the captain first." Emily said to the two.
"Show more later?" Spencer asked CJ and the girl smiled, watching Spencer walk off.
"I don't know what you're trying to do, but you will never hold the captain spot again. You might have been the best dancer in the conference, but not anymore." Emily sneered to CJ. CJ took one step getting in Emily's face, and could feel the girl uncomfortable by the sudden conforntation.
"The only person who won't be holding a captain spot anymore is you. And trust me sis, it's not me who needs the extra practice. The mess you call a dance, is a shit show and you know it. It's a Beyonce song, and you ain't it sweetie.  You are more like. . ." CJ paused looking the ginger girl up and down, "Chanel West Coast, and I'm Nicki Minaj. No competition at all."
CJ pushed past Emily, and grabbed her water bottle as the rest of the dance team started filling in the gym. Emily walked over to a group of girls and yelled at them to start stretching. Mrs. Williams came into the gym and set down her clipboard and called all the girls together.
"We are learning a new dance today, and CJ will be teaching it." Mrs. Williams said. CJ smirked as she felt Emily's glare on her back, "So let's get ready. Spread out."
"Chrisy?" Her mother spoke, knocking on her bedroom door. CJ sat up from the blankets she was buried under and paused the Twilight movie she was watching, "No plans tonight? It's a Friday night."
"These are my plans." CJ said pointing to a half naked Taylor Lautner on her TV screen.
"Half naked werewolf boys aren't a plan." Pauline laughed and walked over to sit on her daughter's bed, "I know that there is a team party at Layla's tonight."
"I know. I knew I probably couldn't go anyway."
"Your curfew is midnight, on the dot, no later. Colton will drive you and Dad will pick you up."
"Mom, are you say. . ."
"You have been through enough. Your Dad, Mrs. Riley, and I talked, we agreed that going to a team party with your brothers was okay. As long as you promise you can pass a drug test tomorrow morning."
CJ jumped up from her bed and hugged her mother tightly. Pauline smiled and hugged her daughter back. It was the first time in months that the two have hugged each other like this, in a happy moment.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" CJ squealed.
"You're welcome. Now get dress, child, you look a mess. And no Jackson child of mine will be looking a mess." Pauline said smiling at her daughter. CJ smiled at her mother and then jumped up towards her closet. CJ invited her mother to stay and help her get ready for the party.
Pauline, her mother, was a retired Dallas Cowgirl dancer, and now an editor for Vogue. Pauline had met Chris Jackson after the Chiefs had played the Cowboys, and it was love at first sight. She had grown up in east Oakland, and had come from nothing. She danced to put herself through college, which she ended up getting her degree in Dance. She worked hard for what she wanted, and wanted people to know that. She expected the best out of her kids, and wanted them to always put their best foot forward.
CJ let her mom fix her box braids, pulling them half up, half down. She wore a baggy black Aliyah t-shirt with a stripped long sleeve underneath it. Her jeans were loose with more hole then there were jean. She pulled on her crisp white air forces and smiled at herself.
"Beautiful." Pauline smiled and kissed her daughter's forehead, "Remember, midnight. Colton's downstairs waiting for you."
CJ nodded and headed downstairs where her twin was waiting. CJ and Colton made their way to the lime green 1972 camaro, which was Colton's baby. He only brought it out for important events such as parties, homecoming, dates, and prom.
"Scratch the paint, and you're dead." He told his twin as she opened the door to the car.
The party was in full swing when they arrived. The door to the Keating household was wide open, and you could hear the music from down the street. Teens were on couches doing bong hits, shots, making out. Red solo cups were in almost every teen hand. Splashes could be seen as the glass doors to the outside were pulled back.
"Hey Colt!" A half naked JJ said as he came up to the twins, "CJ, my girl." JJ tried to hug the twins but they both pushed him back seeing as he was soaking wet.
"Leave it to JJ to make me feel somewhat welcome." CJ said to her brother. He smirked and threw his arm over her shoulder.
"You are welcome, you always have been. If they don't accept you, you don't need them. Now come on, I guarantee there is a Sprite tropic berry with your name on it."
At some point during the party, the siblings had broken away from each other. Colton was probably in some room with one of the many girls at the party. And CJ sat alone, her feet swinging over the side of the deck, as looked at the California hills. It was peaceful for her, she hadn't seen the lights of the city like this in a long time. The view of Layla's house had been one of the many things she liked about it.
"You lost?" Jordan Baker said standing behind her. CJ sighed and didn't say anything, but swing her legs back to the side of the deck, and stand up. She brushed herself off and started walking away from Jordan, "Where are you going?"
"Away. I know when I'm not wanted somewhere." She said to the QB. Jordan sighed and grabbed her arm stopping her in her tracks. CJ tore her arm away from his grasp and looked at him, "You dumb or had one too many concussions?"
"CJ. . ."
"Your parents made it pretty damn clear what they expect from you and Olivia. And that's to stay away from me. So why don't you do that." CJ sneered.
"CJ, Jesus Christ, would you just stop!" Jordan said trying to stop her again, "I wanted to say sorry, and just talk to you."
"Sorry? You wanted to say 'sorry'? Sorry isn't going to suffice. What would've been the epic sorry would've been telling the truth that day, but you couldn't do that."
"CJ I-"
"It's fine, Jordan. Now leave me alone." CJ said and turned on her heel, and trying to get as far away from that party as possible. She knew she shouldn't have been there, but she thought, maybe if they were all drunk they'd forget about the mistakes that were made last year.
CJ woke up with the worst possible headache that she could have. And she hadn't even been drinking. Her parents had woken her up bright in early to go to the scrimmage game. The boosters were invited, meaning her parents. So CJ sat on the cold bleachers with her green cardigan on, shivering in the cool morning. She watched her mother hand Carver and Roman each a water bottle and a snack. Cobe was busy introducing the boosters to the football coaches and showing them the additions to the football stadium.
"Why am I here?" CJ asked her mother.
"Learning how to be a football wife." Pauline joked, causing the young girl to laugh, "I will never understand why women spend so much on botox and fake boobs." Pauline glanced over at JJ's mother, who had just gotten her 2nd boob job done.
"Cause black don't crack, but white sure do." CJ said and Pauline shoved her shoulder laughing, "Let's go Carvy!" CJ cheered watching her younger brother run on to the field.
"That number 11 looks rough." Her dad pointed out, coming to sit by his wife and daughter, "Thought that was supposed to be wonder boy, looks like under boy to me."
CJ looked at Spencer, who was getting the snot beat out of him. He looked awful, and completely out of it. CJ wondered what had happened when she left the party last night. Every play that was made to Spencer, he messed it up in some way. Each time the offense would walk off the field, he looked beat and tired. At the end of the scrimmage, Spencer walked off the field looking defeated. Carver had made his way over to were his parents and sister were standing.
"Nice work, young man." Chris said patting his son on the shoulders, "Almost as good as me."
"I am as good as you."
"What's up with that James kid?" Pauline asked her youngest.
"No clue, but dude reeks like a party bus. Him and JJ must've had a competition last night." Carver said looking over at where Spencer was now talking to Jordan and Asher, "Or those two did something."
The Jackson family turned and watched a heated argument breakout. Spencer threw his helmet down and lunged towards Asher. CJ gasped and took a step forward, but Chris put his arm out in front of her, stopping her movement. The family watched Billy Baker came and controlled Spencer, and the assistant coach take Jordan and Asher away from the spectacle. CJ looked at the rest of the boosters who were also looking at the show in front of them. Cobe was quick to catch CJ's pleading glance to get them out of here, and somewhere else.
"Alright, let's go see where the best team, my team, the soccer team is practicing." Cobe said and the boosters followed him out of the football stadium.
"Billy was pulling for this kid and I have no reason why." Chris said watching Billy talk to his son.
"Maybe the Bakers should worry about they're own kids, seems like they can't control them." Pauline said and Chris nodded in agreement, "Let's go, the boys should be about done."
"I'll meet you guys at the car." CJ said and her parents agreed. CJ waited a moment and then walked over to where Jordan was. He was the only football player left on the field, "You do that to every new player?"
Jordan looked over at the Jackson girl and shrugged, "You don't get it."
"Oh I don't?" CJ questioned and walked over to Jordan, "Cause it looks like. . . you're being a huge dick."
Jordan sighed and set his helmet down on the bench, "You don't see the way he looks at Spencer. Like. . .he's the son he's always wanted."
"J, you know that's not true." CJ said using the nickname she had given him. Jordan couldn't help the butterflies that arose in his stomach when she said that, "Look where you are at, right now. Beverly Hills High School. Where do you live? In the Hills. What car do you drive? A 2019 camaro convertible. What does Spencer have?"
"I know. . ." Jordan says hanging his head in shame, "You're right."
"Your dad is trying to give a kid a chance. Your dad was much like Spencer, growing up in Crenshaw and someone gave him a chance. He is doing that to Spencer. You don't get it, because you have always had that chance."
"When did you get like this?" Jordan said looking at the girl.
"Like what?" CJ asked.
"Reasonable." Jordan simply said.
"I spent 90 days in a detention center. I was lucky, someone gave me a chance. If someone who's dad wasn't a retired football player and who's mother wasn't a editor for vogue who couldn't hire the best attorney in their county did the same thing I did. . . they would've gotten jail time instead of 90 days in juvie." CJ answered.
"Why didn't you take the plea? Why didn't you want a defense?" Jordan asked her but CJ just turned her head, "Why did you even take the blame anyway?"
CJ sighed and looked in Jordan's brown eyes, "You know why."
"But do I really? CJ, you wouldn't have been sent to-"
"Jordan." The two teens looked over to where the call came from. Laura Baker stood off the side, her arms folded in front of her. CJ took a step back from Jordan and looked down at her feet. She could feel the hate radiating off of Laura Baker. If looks could kill, CJ would be dead by now, "Why don't you go hit the showers. Now."
Jordan nodded and grabbed his helmet before walking off the field. CJ watched him leave and turned on her heel to head to her parents' car. Laura stepped in front of CJ, cutting off her path and looked down at the teen.
"What are you doing here? Do you needed reminded about the terms of your parole, Miss Jackson?" Laura asked the teen.
Before CJ spoke her mother spoke for her, "No, she doesn't, Laura. The best thing you can do is stop talking to my daughter before we have another issue on your hands."
Laura looked at the Jacksons before moving out of the way. Pauline led her daughter to the waiting black range rover, and where her husband stood. Chris opened the door for CJ and his wife. CJ looked at Laura one last time before her dad pulled out of the parking lot.

| LIFE AFTER LIBERTY | 1. JUSTIN F. “Staring at the sky ain't gon' fix my problem...”
Tumblr media
a/n; because they did my boy (he wasn’t always my boy tho let’s get that clear lol) dirty and we’re all wondering where life takes us after high school. So here’s a blurb? Headcanon. I’ll try and do all of them even tho no one will probably see this lmao. Inspired by Kevin abstract’s, “echo” since it reminds me of Justin.
When Justin found out he was HIV-positive on the night of prom, he automatically thought he was going to die. And of course that scared the shit out of the 17 year old.
However his doctor, Dr. Ellis Grey assures Justin and The Jensens that HIV-positive did not mean he had aids. In fact if the virus did not reach stage 3 (aids) Justin could live a normal life, with meds to control it.
Even tho his life changed drastically the night of prom, Justin would do what he needed to stay alive. He spent many of his high school years putting his life at risk and now felt like this was his punishment— or rather wake up call.
Of course he did he research with the help of clay and Mrs. Jensen but at times it felt too overbearing and he found himself snapping at the two, later apologizing, even though his family understood
Justin didn’t like to feel sorry for himself but sometimes he just needed to sit in his funk. He’d eventually snap out of it and continue fighting like he knew he could.
He made it to graduation with the support of the football team, basketball team, Clay, Jess, the rest of his friends by his side, and with old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Jensen in the stands supporting him. Sure there was a small part of him that wished his mom was here to see him walk across that stage, I mean what kid wouldn’t want their parent(s)/ guardian watching them accomplish the bullshit of high school?
His mother was another reason Justin had to beat his addiction. He had that on the back of his mind, and now this new piece of him that was part of his journey.
Justin decided to go to Sanderson university, believing that if he left Crestmont now, he would spiral. Community college was the smart route for him for right now, even though he felt like he wrote that essay for nothing, Mr. Jensen told him if he wanted to transfer he could still use that essay if he decided to go off to a four-year institution.
With school starting in the fall, Justin spent most of his time with Jess and his friends who wouldn’t be staying in Crestmont. With clay off in Nevada with Tony for two weeks, Justin enjoyed the limited time of summer he had left with his friends
Which meant hard decisions... Jessica Davis still stayed with Justin even finding out that he tested positive. Their relationship was a lot of push and pull but Jessica seemed to want to see this through. They found love in each other. They taught each other what love is.
However with Jessica out of state, socializing between the two became scarce. Ultimately Justin and Jessica came to terms with calling it quits but still friends from a distance?
Justin needed to focus on himself and his studies. It was hard not being with the one girl he was truly in love with but he knew it was for the best and as corny as Mr. Jensen says, “if it’s truly meant to be, then you’ll two will find a way back to each other,” Justin couldn’t help but to believe that—but he didn’t hold his breath
Justin Foley Jensen, fucking hate school and had a bitter attitude towards college at the start of freshman year in high school only because he didn’t see his future there. He didn’t know where he saw himself, probably living off Bryce if he didn’t end up like his mother. Who knows? Now? Justin was glad to say he made it to college.
He had no idea what to study and didn’t like that pressure what’s so ever but was told he could start off with general studies until he figured it out. “There’s no rush,” his counselor told him. It was nice knowing that you didn’t have to have it all figured out because to Justin, he had no fucking clue. Especially after everything he went through and continues to go through.
He starts off with the basics, taking three classes. Two on campus, one online.
He goes to meetings for his addiction, therapy sessions twice a week, and even visits the counseling & psych services that are provided on campus when he feels like he needs extra help
He talks to clay almost every other day, “dude it’s like you never left, first you were a pain in my ass, now it feels like you’ve been buried up there and I can’t shit you out.” “Oh, fuck you, Justin.” “I love you man.” “Yeah, I unfortunately love you too.”
He lets his hair grow a little longer and some facial hair, to make him look a little older
He doesn’t join any clubs yet since he already has some extracurricular activities he’s handling on his own
He does however, get a job in the next town over, Alcombey, which is a total snooze fest but something he needs in order to not be tempted.
It’s A part time job at a noodle bar 15 mins from Crestmont since two of the previous jobs did not want to hire him due to his background check. “Fuck them anyway,” Zach texted, “both of those places look like five nights at Friday’s but worse. Hey, I’ll even leave them a bad review on yelp.”
Justin was glad Zach was still around, because if he wasn’t he’d probably lose his mind from being lonely. Zach decided to take a year or two off from school but their old coach was still putting his ass to work, coaching.
The two were friends before, usually gravitating towards each other when Bryce and Monty were off being the usual piece of shits that they were. In a sense they were each other’s back ups when they didn’t want to deal with the other’s foolishness but Justin and Zach could be on their bullshit too
Anyway, during this time they became a lot closer and would consider each other, “besties” zach’s words, not Justin’s.
They’d usually chat on sundays since the pair kept themselves busy during the week, Zach with coaching, and Justin juggling school, meetings, his health, and work—but they’d find time to hang out during the months
“Dude, come see fast twelve with me.” “I mean sure, I’m down for the action but how many more fucking movies are they going to make?” “Don’t question a masterpiece. It’s the best film series of all time.” “Actually it’s twilight.” “What the fuck did you just say?!” “Say I’m wrong.” “You’re wrong. Got damn wrong!” “I’m getting Tyler in on this!” “Whatever man, do what you gotta do!”
Two years seem to go by pretty quickly, Justin living his form of normal. He graduates with an associates in physical therapy and transfers to Arizona to complete a bachelors to masters degree in the same program—physical therapy
From there he meets a new group of friends but still has his weekly calls with clay and Zach, either separate or three-way, still texts/zooms/Skype/FaceTime the friend group chat every couple of months to catch up
Ryan is now on a reality tv show and has 30.9k followers on Instagram, Courtney works for a e-commerce fashion company and is in a polygamous relationship—one is non-binary, the other is a bisexual trans woman, Alex and Charlie are engaged!!! “Alex?! Why would you want to marry him?” Justin asks Charlie, everyone knowing that Justin and Alex have a love-hate relationship, mostly hate but still sociable? Light friends? “I’m in love with him, why wouldn’t I? There’s no one else for me.” Charlie deadpans. “Good luck.” “Fuck off, Justin you’re just mad that no one but Jess wanted your dumbass.” “Actually I’m sorta seeing someone so kiss my ass.” Zach and clay are all smiles at this point.
Jessica is taken back by all of this new information since she sort of fell off the face of earth along with Ani. She wanted to be the first to say what’s going on in her life but when Courtney and Ryan are in the chat things usually go one direction and it’s hard to get a word in.
Justin didn’t mean for this to slip out but Alex liked to piss him off.
Zach and clay already knew this information so it wasn’t news to them.
“Well spill the tea love, we’re waiting!” Ryan snaps his fingers to break the silence.
Justin fills the group in that he moved in with his new friends in a house off campus that he met the night of his twenty-first birthday. It all happened sporadically but it was one of the best decisions he’s made
It’s six of them including Justin in one house in a hot ass desert, he was planning to rent an apartment off campus by himself with the money he managed to save up, even tho the jensens offered to pay his first month’s rent, he learned to take responsibility on his own
Until he met the five at a festival downtown. It was weird for Justin to spend a birthday on his own, even tho he didn’t have the best upbringing at a young age, he still managed to be around someone even if that meant his mother high on the couch, spending it with Bryce/ the team, or celebrating it with the jensens, this was his first time all on his own, truly
But life was all about new experiences. So he was out on his own looking at the artwork, even if it wasn’t his thing, it was still cool to look at. Modern art never made any fucking sense. He did try majority of the food there, with his hungry ass. Indigenous food? That was too good.
He was at yet another food truck when he heard arguing from not too far behind him. He didn’t care to hear this conversation but it was loud enough not to hear it.
He spotted her 5’4 frame self arguing with some dude that was taller than zach’s big foot ass and she was going in
Another guy, a Irish red head who was behind him waiting at the food truck snorted as he watched Justin eat and watch his two friends debate
“That ones a fucking mess, I’ll tell ya. She’s the one that’ll tear off ya neck and shit down it.”
Justin’s eyes were wide at this point. He’s heard some things in his life before but that one was surely knew.
“Benji, man. You are?”
He introduced himself just as the small brown girl managed to bring the 6 ft+ dude into a headlock. She sure had a grip. The two scuffled until they knocked over a table near by filled with figurines.
That’s when they booked it, pulling Justin with them like he asked to be involved.
This was the mischief he needed back in his life, all in good fun but nothing like the extremes of Crestmont
They became acquainted, friends pretty quickly before moving in together and Justin did something he shouldn’t
He fell for his roommate, a 5’4 Indian Gemini girl (he still didn’t understand astrology) who loved to argue/ “communicate” do yoga, majoring in astrophysics—much to the disappointment of her parents, loved Joan Jett & the black hearts, Fiona apple, Fleetwood Mac, and absolutely loved screaming her vocals out to r&b songs, preferably Whitney Houston—mostly when she was drunk
Her name? Jiya and she loved calling Justin her, “boo”
Justin didn’t think he’d find love again. Especially three-four years after Jess. Was it still too soon? He felt like he should feel guilty, Zach assured him that he shouldn’t and deserved to be happy with someone else, and clay was the voice of reason pulling out pros and cons...typical clay shit.
Jess didn’t say much in that moment and Alex and Courtney picked up on that immediately.
It felt like Justin needed permission.
So two days went by after that call and justin was just getting home from a late night class to Jess calling him
They had small talk which wasn’t the norm between them. Usually when they fought or had a disagreement they made up by having sex.
This wasn’t an argument though?
At first Jessica’s tone didn’t feel right to Justin, like she was still in disbelief that he moved on? Yet she ended up telling him that she had hooked up and dated around a couple months into her freshman year
Now she was with diego
And Justin couldn’t help but to laugh, which put Jessica on defense mode
The conversation went from tense, to silence, to awkwardness, to communicating, to closure
“I want you to be happy, Jess. I’ve always wanted you to be happy, even if it’s not with me. It doesn’t have to be. I love you enough to know I can’t be selfish. I can’t keep holding onto the past, we both can’t. Our time apart proved that.”
“But that doesn’t mean I didn’t miss you at all during us not speaking like we used to.”
“I know. And that’s okay, I’m not mad. At first I was, thinking it was too easy for us to call it quits. It used to not be like that, us going hours without speaking but we got used to it. And I think that says a lot.”
“...does she make you happy?”
“She definitely knows how to make me laugh and I’ve needed to laugh for a long time now. Everything about her feels right, we’ve been on a few dates. Well she was the one to initiate it, I was too in my head about it.”
“A woman that knows what she wants, she’s alright with me then.”
“It’s still fuck diego, from where I stand.”
“Justin!” “I’m kidding! You deserve all the happiness in the world too, Jessica Davis. Thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for loving me when I didn’t think I deserved it.” “Oh you asshole, you’re gonna make me cry. You’re worthy of love, every ounce of it and don’t you forget that. I’ll always love you, Justin. Take care of yourself.”
And life kept on moving. By 25, Justin was a official physical therapist—working his hardest to provide comfort in those that needed it due to their injuries physically and hopefully mentally.
He and Jiya decided to move out into an apartment together, renting of course since Justin did not want to stay in Arizona forever. He hated hot weather. Not a fan at all. He wanted to move to Colorado or somewhere in the mountains or some shit. Jiya didn’t care where they lived as long as they were together.
It was hard for her to find a permanent job with her degree but she did well at hotel management.
They adopted a dog, an Italian greyhound. Justin didn’t want that breed exactly, not trying to be a dog shamer like Jiya liked to call him but his legit words were, “what if I get up in the middle of the night, to see that rat with big eyes staring at me?” “Would you like for us to get a pet rat?” “What? No! That’s not what I’m saying at all.” After three months adopting Raimondo the Italian greyhound, jiya shows up with a bearded dragon. “The hell is that?!” Justin screamed perched on the couch leaving Jiya laughing, “Our new child, you pussy.”
By thirty Jiya received a job opportunity in Vancouver, Washington and off they went.
They bought a mobile styled home, however Jiya truly wanted a bungalow, but this was what they could afford right now. It was painted indigo blue with a red door and they had a shed that looked like a barn.
It was honestly spacious for the two of them, with four bedrooms. Why did they need four bedrooms? By now Jiya knew she couldn’t have children and didn’t know if she wanted any. Plus they weren’t married so but it’s not like they didn’t talk about it.
One room was for her yoga sessions if she didn’t go out to any. Plus the other rooms could be used for whenever their families wanted to come and visit or friends.
Jiya got a long well with Justin’s side. Especially clay, which Justin saw coming from the moment he met her. That made Justin happy that clay and the jensens approved of Justin’s choices of women. Sure he had a few but when he loved, he loved pretty hard and for a long time.
“That’s just the cancer in you, boo.”
“Enough of this zodiac shit, I’m trying to sleep.”
“Yeaaah, on this Gemini bo-dy boy!” Jiya argued with Justin laying on her chest.
“I’m sleeping on the couch with raimondo.” Justin moved to get up.
“Fine by me, more space in the bed.”
Justin held mock-offense, “I can’t believe you’d just let me leave! You know our couch feels like rocks.”
Jiya gasped, “you said you liked that couch!”
“Well, I lied.” Justin smirked with a shrug of his shoulders.
And that’s when a pillow fight started which ended with them on the floor along with a make-out session and love making.
Justin was always careful before but living hiv-positive and being involved with Jiya he made sure he did all he needed to on his part and to make her comfortable
When he first told Jiya and the group, it was quiet. Two of the roommates believed the stigma and ignorant comments and questions were made/asked. Jiya, Benji, and Heidi were the main ones that came to his defense and he would always remember that.
By thirty-two, Justin asked Jiya to marry him on a picnic by the lake. And she RAN from him. Which had Justin yelling, “wtf?!”
“Sorry, there were huge ass bumblebees or dragonflies coming right for us! And you know I’m allergic.” “So you were just going to let me get stung?” “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you, if you see me run, you run too.” Justin huffed finding the moment ruined until Jiya plucked the ring box from his hand and got down on her knees holding the box out to him, “yeah I’ll marry you, boo. You’re my favorite person on the earth, next to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But you get my point.”
Justin snorted. He was in love with a major dork. He took the ring and placed it on her finger grabbing onto her hands after she nodded in approval at the ring, pulling her to her feet. He wrapped her hands around his waist and cupped her face bringing their lips together.
Justin Foley Jensen found his happily ever after.

Voltron: Next Generation
First Encounters: III
Word Count: 2822
"Cake!" A chorus of voices yelled. Allie mostly screamed as she flew to the furthest fall, but she would also join in.
"I'm on it!" With nothing but his dad's yellow suit, Cake ejected himself into the darkness. Shiro seriously underestimated how the teens were trained.
On camera feeds, the teens watched the blasts slow and stop at the sight of the yellow-clad teenager. With a few flashes from the Balmeran ship, it went around the Coeus and its sheer size. They were approved for entry. Kova was going to murder someone and it wouldn't be Caleb.
Landing on the Balmera, Cake was the first off the ship, running towards a tall woman. At least, they thought it was a woman.
"Hey, where are you going?" Shiro asked Kova, who was suited up in his old paladin armor. The black and white outfit made her brown eyes impossibly brighter. Her helmet was held like a basketball under her arm.
"I have to ask if the Balmera is willing to give me a crystal." Her eyes met Shiro's for only a moment, then she turned and put on her helmet. Even if the atmosphere on the Balmera was safe for humans to breathe, Kova wasn't risking anything. She was better off safe than sorry.
"Be careful," Shiro called out, but Kova was too out of reach to hear a thing. Allie decided to go along, only because it was her team. Caleb and Liz were helping Kenny with the teleduv, something the Coeus had! Even if some of the lenses were cracked and others were broken, the system itself seemed to be okay. Thank Allura for that, because they couldn't possibly recreate Hunk's lens recipe up here.
"Hey!" Cake called out, his helmet off. The Balmeran he was embracing was only a few inches taller than he was, with rough green and yellow skin and completely yellow eyes.
"Hello." The Balmeran looked up at the pair, who were still wearing helmets.
"The air is safe to breathe."
"Kova's just taking precautions," Cake separated himself from the Balmeran and walked over to the girls. "Cut her some slack."
"Kova!" A shriek pierced the air and Kova had to brace herself, but even the armor didn't protect from Talia's bone-crushing hug. "Are Mom and Uncle Rax giving you a hard time for keeping your helmet on?" Kova was being lifted by Cake's older sister, who was as tall as Cake and looks to match. Her sclera was much brighter than Cake's, with a thin dark slit instead of Cake's round iris and pupil. Built like a body-building ectomorph, Talia was as hard as a rock (pun not intended), much to Kova's dismay. "Oh, I missed you, my strawberry shortcake!" Kova was kicking her legs, but it was useless in Talia's grip.
"Hello, beautiful sister." Cake crossed his arms.
"Issako." Talia stopped shaking Kova from side to side to glare at her younger brother. Her grip loosened enough to let Kova escape. She imagined Caleb was laughing up a storm.
He was, and Liz was sure he had stopped breathing a few minutes ago.
"Talia." The Balmeran from earlier scolded the overexcited half-human. "What brings you back?" The Balmeran, who Allie and Kova had assumed was Cake and Talia's mom, directed her question at Cake.
“It's a long story." Walking alongside his mom, Cake led the way for Kova and Allie. As Allie walked forward, she was pulled back by the collar of her outfit. Looking up, Kova's face was unreadable, even through the helmet.
"I'm sorry to ask this of you," Kova said, earning her more eyes than she could count. There were maybe ten Balmerans on the surface, only three directly interacting with the teenagers. "But I have a few questions and I don't wish to further interfere with your family reunion." Shay met the eyes of another Balmeran, the one who Kova thought was Cake and Talia's uncle. What did she say his name was again?
"I am called Rax." The Balmera approached the teens. "What are your questions?" Kova sighed, letting go of Allie's collar.
"First, I ask for a confirmation. Has the Fire of Purification returned in full force?" Rax nodded his head, solemn. At least Kova had the information to relay it to her dad. "Second, I wish to ask the Balmera for a few crystals. Would it be alright?" The ground shook after Kova's question. Rax stood by unfazed, while Allie hung onto Kova's arm. Behind Rax, a grove of crystals grew from the ground. They all varied in size, some the size of grass blades, and others were the size of small trees.
"The Balmera has answered your question. Any other questions?" Allie wandered past the foreboding Balmeran into the crystals, exploring each crystal. Kova wanted to ask the last question, but she was almost afraid to.
"Do you have any information on the Voltron Lions?" She differed to instead. They were dead, she chided herself. Even if they were alive, at least one more other than Uncle Lance should have made it back. Rax studied the teen, who couldn't be more than ten inches shorter than he. "We found Blue in a trash nebula not far from here." Her voice was low, meeting the Balmeran's eyes. Rax nodded his head, holding his hand out. Kova gave him her left arm, which had a screen on the piece. On the screen, he wrote in a code Kova hadn't seen in years: 010110010100010101010011
Hunk, Cake's dad, must've taught it to them.
Shutting her screen, Rax nodded. Kova responded with a nod of her own and stayed in the same place as Rax turned around to walk towards the stairs that led to the system of tunnels where the Balmerans lived. With steps, so much calmer and steadier than they had ever been, Kova walked towards Allie and pulled out her knife.
Cake was being showered in so many compliments and praises, he didn't notice how far he had traveled. He was told he looked handsome in his father's paladin outfit, to which he looked at his mom for confirmation.
She didn't even look at him.
The deeper they went, the more Balmerans stayed behind, going into their caves as they passed by. When they stopped moving, Cake found himself alone with his mom and Talia. They were staring forward, but Talia stole glances between him and the wall ahead of them.
The cavern was about twice as high as the bay doors and two football fields long. Inside, the Yellow Lion was inside its protective yellow dome, its eyes following Cake around.
He could barely believe the yellow lion's coordinates were here when he saw the map of the Lions' locations, but standing here and looking at the huge metal beast before him, it didn't make any sense. Maybe he passed out at the Garrison and this fever dream was his subconscious giving him a piece of his dad after his absence. He wasn't supposed to return to the Balmera until after he graduated from the Garrison, and the inclusion of his mom and sister are just homesick reminders.
Turning to both of them, he only had to look at Talia's face to realize she wasn't a dream. Talia would've known about this earlier.
Heck, he didn't know Talia's nickname for Kova was strawberry shortcake. Her face was priceless.
With careful steps forward, Cake approached the Lion. It didn't move at all, waiting for Cake to react. With a hand on the shield, Cake looked into Yellow's eyes. The faint roar in the back of his head scared him, but not as much as the shield dissipating in front of his eyes. With careful steps, he approached the base of the Lion, where a hatch door had opened.
Riding the elevator up, he remembered the stories and adventures his dad used to tell as treats for Cake's good behavior. After the cake incident, he wasn't allowed to help at the restaurants. When the elevator doors opened again, he found himself in a back room. Approaching the door at the end of it, he found himself in the Yellow Lion's head. Taking a seat in the chair in the middle of the cockpit, he brought his legs up the chair moved to suit him. Reaching his hands out to hold onto the controls, the panels came to life in front of him in matching yellow colors.
His helmet had rolled onto the floor, and Cake seriously wondered if he should put it on. No one else had a Lion, he thought to himself. Then he remembered what they found in the trash nebula. Suddenly, he couldn't reach his helmet fast enough.
"Allie!" Cake shouted, earning him a yelp from the tween. They had boarded the Coeus, with a makeshift sack filled with the materials Kova was going to make the satellite with when Allie got the terrifying message. "Get to Blue!" Cake was so excited, he was bouncing in his seat with joy.
"Kova said I wasn't supposed to fly it without proper training." Her right eye was shut, trying to comfort her ear on her shoulder through the helmet. It didn't work, but it didn't hurt to try.
"Get to your Lion and when I say go, take off!" Cake was starting the Yellow Lion, getting a feel for the controls. It would be completely different once they were airborne.
"Alright! I'm going, I'm going," Allie muttered as she wandered off to the Bay. Kova had an eyebrow raised, but she had taken off her helmet earlier. She couldn't hear the conversation between the two. "Just stop yelling."
Kova had dragged her bag 'o' parts to the bridge, where they had begun to fall out of holes in the tarp. She didn't mind. Caleb looked at her with an eyebrow raised. Kova shrugged her shoulders, sitting on the floor cross-legged to begin. Caleb and Liz had joined her, sitting in their now completely assigned seats, and Shiro and Kenny trailed Kova and picking up pieces along the way.
Allie was in the cockpit of the Blue Lion, hands on the controls watching everything come to life. Most of it was foreign to her, but she seemed to understand the basics when Cake's enthusiastic voice came over her earpiece.
"GO!" Cake yelled, causing Allie to wince but she pressed her controls forward. Blue stood, roaring to life as he stood on all four legs. With the bay door opening, Allie took off before Kova could stand up and stop her. Truth be told, everyone's eyes opened wide but no one made moves to stop Allie.
The Blue Lion was flying around the windows of the Coeus as the Yellow Lion emerged from a hole in the Balmera's surface. Kova looked on, not sure whether to be jealous that her team had their lions or proud that her team found their lions first. Allie was having a hard time flying the Blue Lion, while Cake took to it like riding a bike. Then again, his dad was the former pilot. Maybe the Lion sensed that.
Now alone, Kova was tacking a few pieces of the scrap metal together. It was harder than she would have hoped, her makeshift arc welder likely not up to any safety code. A few hours ago, she sent Caleb and Liz to check off the list of repairs the ship needed. Caleb glared at Kova, but Liz was happy to do it.
They had managed to properly set and reconfigure the wires that caused the malfunctions at the Garrison, finished the seat covers for the chairs, and were currently in the process of dying them with the help of the Balmerans. Shiro had decided to head down too, leaving Kova and Kenny alone on the ship. Albeit, on different sides and levels, but that was beside the point.
Pushing loose black strands back, she sat down on the floor. She had been hunched over for almost an hour, her back aching.
The Balmerans were kind enough to let the Coeus stay on the Balmera for as long as they needed, Cake's mom and uncle recognizing Shiro almost on the spot.
Kova was nearly done, the dome of the satellite coming along nicely. It would be large enough to transmit the signals necessary, but small enough it shouldn't be noticeable by other ships. When the frame was done, it was only a matter of connecting it to a functioning power source. The crystals from the Balmera should be more than enough.
Blue and Yellow raced past the windows of the Coeus the umpteenth time that day. Allie was getting better with every pass she made, although now it was a matter of beating Cake than it was practicing anymore. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Kova got back to work. If she finished the frame by dinner, she would take a break. Maybe a shower. Maybe both at the same time. She didn't care, as long as her brain had a break from the onslaught of thinking.
"You shouldn't be thinking about the Fire." Shiro stood at the base of the stairs. Whenever Kova was thinking about something, she punished herself for thinking about it and either started a new engineering project or finished a previous one. It almost always got her mind off of it. The more serious issues she had to spar out of her system, but those were extreme.
"There's a reason they demanded a half-galra be on board." Her voice was muffled from the welding helmet, sparks flying as she started her work again. Tacking is only supposed to be a temporary weld, but Kova had to make sure the pieces were in the right place.
"You shouldn't be thinking about it," Shiro repeated. Kova stopped her current bead, tore the helmet off her head, and glared at Shiro. Her black hair was falling around her face in strands besides the braid down her back.
"I'm half-galra. I have the right to be worried."
"You didn't have to say anything."
"And risk everyone dying?"
"No one was going to die, Kova."
"You're right." She stood up, ignoring the stiffness in her knees. "We'd be prisoners."
"Kovalia."
"Can't you see I'm busy?"
"Kovalia, this isn't just on your shoulders." Kova was still glaring with intensity, but Shiro kept his calm. "Patience yields—"
"Don't." Kova raised a hand. "Don't say it."
"I don't want to leave you alone." Kova scoffed.
"Like they did?" Shiro didn't say anything. Instead, he watched Kova lower herself to the floor and put the helmet above her head again. "Just let me work." She bent over the pieces of metal and began tack welding once again. With a sigh, Shiro left Kova to her own devices, knowing that nothing will take her mind off the Fire of the Purification and its new goals.
The Yellow Lion stopped at the base of the Coeus, waiting for Blue to catch up with them. They never came. A deafening roar came from the other side of the Coeus, and Cake jumped in his seat.
Allie was cackling in her seat, tears flowing down her cheeks. She had managed to sneak up behind Yellow and unleashed a roar on the poor boy inside. In their seats, Allie and Cake could barely see Caleb on the ground getting closer to the giant robotic beasts, but they could sure see his sweater.
Caleb had changed into a mess of a black and red tie-dye sweater over gray jeans and matching red sneakers. Either Kova packed for him, or Caleb learned how to match his clothes. Allie and Cake blanked before exploding into fits of laughter at Caleb's horrible sweater.
Caleb, unfortunately, couldn't hear them laughing. Otherwise, he would tell them about the prank Kova made when they were tie-dyeing their clothes. Kova sadly outgrew her shirt (cough boobs cough), but Caleb had grown into the sweater.
Caleb motioned for the gigglers to come down from their cockpits, to which they reluctantly did. Allie and Cake tried so hard to meet Caleb's blue eyes, but their eyes wandered to the horrendous splatters of black and red that made up the entire sweater and could no longer contain their laughter.
"Yuck it up." Caleb rolled his eyes. This was always the reaction he got with the sweater, swearing off casual clothing until he graduated or was in space. Guess which one came first. "Are the bayards in the cockpits?" The two were taking deep breaths, trying to relax their breathing. Allie held up a finger and walked back to Blue.
She was in the cockpit, staring at the blue and white weapon in the dash. She hadn't noticed it before, but before she could grab it a white streak of light flashed in front of her eyes. Looking into the sky, her face blanched. She couldn't get out of the Blue Lion fast enough when the blast struck the Balmera.
