OKAY so according to sky Italy, it was reported that the bankets were functioning and the tyres were within the right temp when Charles left the box yesterday, but he had to slow down on the out lap (to let Alonso by iirc) and the tyres cooled down dramatically + he wouldn't have been able to bring them back up to optimal temperature without overstressing them. When he started the quali lap they were too cold. Then the normal question would be “if the tyres were within the right temp window when he left the garage and he wasn't stuck in the pitlane for that long, how did one (1) slow sector in the outlap affect it so dramatically?” Unfortunately that's not a follow up question any journalist has asked. Considering unlocking my twitter so I can do that myself.

Note: as always in F1, teams lie. They don't want to advertise weaknesses, duh. There's been #discourse yesterday bc Charles yesterday immediately after quali said his tyres were 10 degrees too cold and Fred gave a complete different answer, which to me doesn't really mean anything except the problem wasn't clear cut and they hadn't debriefed / looked at data yet, but there you have it — they could be covering up something (all teams do this). I am not expecting we will ever find out what exactly happened, whether that's bad data reading or an equipment malfunction or some garage member actually fucking up. However!!! tyre blankets and their cables are third-party equipment, and I genuinely cannot think of a plausible reason for a team to cover up that some cable malfunctioned or whatever. If they say the blankets were working, I'm actually inclined to believe it just because the blankets aren't Ferrari made lol

The thing about Tobias and betrayal is that he makes it look as if he only hates people who betray him. In actuality, he dislikes anyone who betrays anyone. He's not stupid, so he'll definitely take advantage of every person who's willing to double-cross their allies if it's helpful for his own situation, but they'd live under a false impression of safety and comradery the whole time bc Tobias would absolutely end them the second he'd be finished with their boss/friend/etc and have no more use for them either.

In his eyes, if you're able to betray someone else, even moreso a friend or a boss you've sworn loyalty to (*regardless of circumstances), why would you not betray him too? What use could he possibly have out of you which would override the amount of tracking he'd have to do to make sure you don't repeat what you just did to your former allies, this time to him/his friends? He has -100 trust in anyone who's given him information or aid to take down their allies, and while he'd be amicable and friendly to them the whole time they're useful, he would never give a solid damn about them.
