So she umm. Killed a teenager. To be fair it was an intentional set up to corner her into either letting herself get killed or having to kill a 16 year old in self defense, and she did try to end it non violently and then non lethally but neither worked out. Unfortunately given her history with child death that doesn’t really make a difference to her- she’s completely catatonic for like three days after the incident.

The second my heels hit the red carpet, I felt my soul leave my body. The flashes were relentless, fans were screaming my name, and somewhere behind me, my assistant—Jules—was whispering “Posture, babe! Chin up! Shoulders back! Breathe!” like I wasn’t already trying not to pass out from the nerves. I tugged my dress down slightly—custom, couture, and tight—and smiled for the cameras, praying they couldn’t see how badly my palms were sweating.

“You’re good,” Jules whispered, stepping just behind me, clipboard and chaos in tow. “You look like a goddess. You sound like a legend. And every single man in a race suit just turned to stare.”

I laughed under my breath and turned my head slowly. Sure enough. A wall of F1 drivers stood just a few steps ahead—all of them in slick tuxes. And every. Single. One. of them was watching me like I was the main event. God help me.

Charles Leclerc, standing with his girlfriend Alexandra, gave me a soft smile. One of those movie-star ones, with the head tilt. Smooth. Alexandra gave me a subtle once-over, biting her lip and nodding slightly like she approved.

Lando Norris nudged Oscar Piastri and whispered something, and Oscar blinked twice like he’d forgotten how conversation worked. I gave them a little wave and watched as Oscar physically recoiled in shyness while Lando just grinned and mouthed, “Hi.”

Pierre Gasly winked. Subtle like a sledgehammer. And then—

“Hi. Um. Hi.”

I turned and found Ollie Bearman. Sweet baby Ollie. Standing just off to the side with wide eyes and flushed cheeks like I’d personally descended from the heavens.

My assistant whispered, “That’s the one who listed you as his celebrity crush on a podcast.”

Oh my god. He’s even cuter in person. I stepped toward him slowly, letting the cameras click away, and smiled wide.

“Hi, Ollie, right?” I asked softly. “I heard I might be your celebrity crush.”

His whole face went scarlet.

“Uh—I mean—yeah! Yeah, I mean—wow, this is so weird, I didn’t think you’d, like, actually know—oh god,” he rambled.

I couldn’t help it—I opened my arms. “C’mere, then.”

He blinked. “Wait—like—a hug? Right now? In front of—everyone?”

“Unless you don’t want one?”

“I DO,” he said way too fast, stepping forward like his feet were moving on autopilot.

I gave him a gentle hug, careful not to crush the front of my dress, and felt his heart pounding through his suit. When we pulled back, he looked like he might cry or combust.

“You’re doing great,” I whispered with a wink. “Can’t wait to watch your rookie season.”

He made a choked noise that might’ve been a thank you—or possibly a prayer.

And somewhere behind me, I swear I heard Jules mutter, “You just made that poor boy’s year.”

As we walked into the venue, I could still feel the heat of all those driver stares and Ollie’s stunned silence behind me.

I leaned toward Jules. “Okay but what is in the water at Ferrari? Because damn.”

“Okay,” Jules said, sticking a protein bar into my hand. “You’ve got fifteen minutes before you go out, your dress is still flawless, and I bribed hair and makeup with champagne to stay on standby. Now come stress-stalk the hot ones with me.”

I took a bite of the bar and followed her to the side curtain. We peeked out like two teenage girls spying on the cool kids at prom. Except the cool kids were all F1 drivers. And actual gods.

“I mean,” Jules whispered, “look at them. It’s like the Avengers of being sexy and emotionally unavailable.”

She pointed with the subtlety of a brick wall. “There’s George Russell looking like a romance villain. Carlos is definitely flirting with that engineer. Lando’s doing finger guns. Why is he always doing finger guns?”

I choked on my protein bar. “Because he is Lando.”

Then Jules nudged me. “And look. Center of the room. Ferrari. Your favorite brand of thirst.”

I leaned in and—yep. There they were. Charles, glass in hand, relaxed and charming as ever, laughing at something Lewis said. And next to him, Alexandra in a floor-length black gown that looked like liquid obsidian, eyes scanning the room like she was bored of everyone. God help me, I had a problem.

“Okay,” I whispered. “You know how I said I had a tiny crush on Charles?”

Jules gave me side-eye. “Yes. You also said you’d let him ruin you.”

“Well,” I said, dragging the word out, “I might… also have a thing for Alexandra. Like. A very serious thing.”

Jules blinked. “So… double Ferrari crush?”

“I’m panicking.”

“Don’t panic. Just flirt back. They’re both clearly into you.”

“No, they’re not—”

I froze mid-sentence. Alexandra had turned. She was looking right at us through the curtain. Like she knew. Her eyes met mine, and for a second I thought she might wave or say something—Instead, she smirked and winked.

“Oh my god,” I whispered.

Jules lost it beside me, half-screaming into her sleeve. “SHE WINKED. YN. SHE WINKED. THAT WAS SEXUAL.”

“I think I blacked out for a second,” I muttered. “Was that real? Did that just happen?”

“Do you want me to slap you or get you water?”

“Neither. Just bury me in this curtain.”

We both ducked back behind the fabric, clutching each other like we’d seen a ghost. A hot, model-tier, vaguely intimidating ghost who might be flirting with me in front of her F1 driver boyfriend.

I blinked slowly. “I’m going to combust on stage. If I pass out mid-song, tell the crowd it was from artistic overwhelm.”

Jules just grinned. “You’re about to have both a Ferrari driver and his impossibly hot girlfriend wrapped around your finger. Honestly? Diva behavior. Proud of you.”

Back straight. Head tilted. Watching me like he was trying to memorize the lines of my body, the way my hand slid slowly down my hip, the exact pitch of my voice when I purred through the second chorus. He looked dazed. Like I was singing directly into his bloodstream. And Alexandra?

God. She was absolutely still—spine like a string of pearls, lips parted ever so slightly, eyes locked on mine. No smile. Just hunger. It wasn’t even subtle. Her gaze was heavy, almost possessive, like she was deciding how I’d taste.

I sang the bridge soft and breathy, leaning into the mic like it was a secret. I let the hem of my gown fall back just enough to reveal the shimmer of my leg, and Alexandra’s fingers twitched around her champagne glass.

I saw her lean over. Whisper something to Charles. He smirked. He didn’t look away from me when he did it. When the final note hit—drawn out and decadent—the lights dropped. Silence. Then an eruption. Applause. Cheering. The kind that shakes the floor and rings in your ribs. I exhaled for the first time in three minutes. Backstage, Jules was waiting with wide eyes and an open mouth.

“You witch,” she breathed. “I just watched Charles Leclerc forget how to breathe. And Alexandra? Babe. She looked like she wanted to eat you alive.”

I pressed a hand to my chest, trying to slow my heartbeat. “So… it went okay?”

Jules laughed. “They’re both going to find you before this night’s over. And I’m betting you’re not going home alone.”

I sighed and took a drink of water and started to get changed into my evening gown. Hair and makeup came in to touch me up. I stood up, checking myself in the mirror and smiled.

Jules nudged me. “Go be charming. Make the rounds. Let the world bask in the glow of your slay.”

So I did. Smile on, perfume lingering behind me like a trail of sin, I moved from driver to driver like it was a party game.

George kissed my hand and told me I “redefined elegance.” Lando was sweet talking me as he tried to get me to sit in his lap. Oscar blushed so hard I thought someone should check his temperature.

But it was Ollie who melted my entire heart. He nearly knocked over his glass trying to stand up straight. “Hi. You—uh. I mean. That was—like—wow. You’re…”

I smiled and opened my arms, and he just melted into a hug like a starstruck golden retriever.

“Thank you,” I whispered. “You’re very sweet.”

When I pulled back, he was blinking fast, cheeks flushed pink, like he couldn’t decide whether to pass out or propose. Jules was already filming. But then—then—I turned and saw them.

Charles and Alexandra. Still together. Still impossibly composed. Still looking at me like I was the most fascinating thing in the room. I smoothed my gown even though it didn’t need smoothing and took a slow breath before making my way over.

“Hello,” I said, somehow keeping my voice light despite the fact that my soul had already left my body.

“She knows,” Alexandra said, her voice soft and low, like silk drawn across bare skin. “She had every man in the room losing his mind.”

I blinked. “I was just… singing.”

Charles tilted his head. “That was not just singing.”

And Alexandra? She leaned in a little, close enough that I could smell her perfume—jasmine and something warmer, richer. “I think you know exactly what you were doing.”

I laughed—nervously, stupidly. “Are you flirting with me?”

Alexandra smiled. Slow. Dangerous. “Do you want me to be?”

My brain short-circuited. “I—”

Charles stepped in, just a little, voice low and amused. “You look like you might need another drink.”

“I need a tranquilizer.” I muttered under my breath.

Alexandra’s eyes sparkled. “You’re blushing.”

“No, I’m—” I touched my cheek. Burning.

She grinned. “Blushing. And glowing. It’s a very good look.”

Charles offered me a glass of champagne. “For recovery.”

I took it. My fingers brushed his. I didn’t recover.

I was mid-sip of champagne, trying to cool down both physically and emotionally, when I felt a soft hand brush against mine. Not urgent. But deliberate. Alexandra. She leaned in like she was about to whisper something, her breath tickling just beneath my ear.

“Come with me for a second?”

Not a question. A gentle command wrapped in silk. I didn’t even think—I just nodded. She slid her hand down to my wrist and guided me through the edge of the ballroom, past glittering gowns and conversations I couldn’t hear, until we slipped into a quiet hallway behind the venue. Dim lights. Velvet-lined walls. The faint hum of the music muted behind gold-trimmed doors. And then she stopped. Turned. Faced me.

“You’re dangerous, you know that?” she said, eyes trailing down my figure like I wasn’t real.

I swallowed. “I’m just a pop star with stage fright.”

She laughed—low, rich. “No, you’re a woman who walked onstage and hypnotized a room full of people… including my boyfriend.”

My breath hitched. “I didn’t mean to—”

“Oh, I’m not upset.” She stepped closer. “He hasn’t looked at someone like that in a long time. But neither have I.”

I blinked. “Alexandra…”

“I’m not trying to scare you,” she said, voice softening. “I just wanted a moment. With you. Away from the cameras. Away from Charles, even.”

That surprised me.

“You did something to me up there,” Alexandra said, eyes burning into mine. “The way you moved. Sang. Looked at us. Like you knew we were watching.”

“I did know,” I whispered.

Her lips curled slightly, like she liked that answer. Like it confirmed something for her She stepped even closer. Close enough that I could feel the warmth radiating from her skin, the delicate scent of her perfume curling around me like silk.

“Do you always make it this hard to look away from you?”

“No,” I murmured. “Just tonight.”

Her hand moved slowly, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear, knuckles grazing the curve of my jaw. I was holding my breath without realizing it. And then—softly, like she was testing gravity—she leaned in. Her lips brushed mine. Barely. A whisper of contact. Warm. Careful. Intentional. I didn’t move. Didn’t speak. Just… felt. The way her mouth lingered against mine for a second longer than necessary. The quiet intake of her breath. The soft press of her palm to the side of my face as she deepened the kiss just slightly, like she wanted to make sure I understood this wasn’t an accident.

When she finally pulled back, her eyes were darker. Focused. Her thumb brushed my cheekbone gently.

“I’ve wanted to do that since I first laid eyes on you,” she said.

My heart was hammering so loud I was afraid she’d hear it.

Then, from the end of the hallway—

“Alex?”

Charles. Her gaze flicked toward the sound—but only for a moment. When she looked back at me, she smiled. Not a flirty smile. A promise.

She tucked another curl behind my ear and said, low and soft, “We’re not done.”

And then she turned—just like that—and disappeared back into the light. I didn’t move for a full thirty seconds.

I stormed back into the green room, nearly tripping over the train of my dress as I slammed the door shut and pressed my back against it like I was being chased.

Jules whipped around mid-text, wide-eyed. “Oh my god. What happened?”

“She kissed me,” I hissed, clutching my clutch like it might save me from cardiac arrest.

Jules blinked. “Charles?”

“No. Alexandra.”

Her phone clattered onto the vanity. “YOU’RE KIDDING—”

“She pulled me into the hallway, told me I was dangerous, and then she kissed me like- like—l”

Jules let out a sound that could only be described as a strangled squeal. “On the mouth??”

“No, Jules, she kissed me on the elbow—YES ON THE MOUTH.” I paced wildly, nearly running into the rack of backup dresses. “And then she smiled and said, ‘We’re not done.’ Like she didn’t just light my entire nervous system on fire.”

Jules grinned. “I told you you were the main character tonight.”

“I thought she was going to slap me for seducing her boyfriend with my eye contact and instead she kissed me like she was the one seduced!”

Before Jules could reply, a gentle knock sounded on the door.

I froze. “That’s either the PR team coming to fire me or Charles coming to duel.”

Jules arched a brow and opened the door like she’d been waiting for this moment her entire life. Charles and Alexandra stood there. Unbothered. Gorgeous. Slightly glowing. Like they knew what they were doing.

“Uh-Hello,” Charles said, eyes locking with mine immediately.

Alexandra’s smile was soft, unreadable. “We didn’t mean to interrupt.”

“You’re not,” Jules chirped, already stepping aside like the most chaotic wingwoman. “I was just about to force her to drink water and sit down before she passed out.”

Charles tilted his head slightly, amused. “Would it be alright if we stole her for a little while?”

I blinked. “You want to…?”

Alexandra took a step closer, voice calm and warm. “The event is over. We were thinking of getting a drink. Something quieter. Off-site.”

Her gaze lingered on my lips just a second too long.

“Only if you’d like to come,” Charles added, his tone deceptively casual, but the way he looked at me, sharp and curious, told a different story. I stared at both of them. This glittering, impossible couple who had just casually invited me into… something. Jules behind me was vibrating.

“I—” I cleared my throat. “Yeah. I’d… like that.”

Alexandra smiled like she already knew I’d say yes. Charles offered me his hand.

And as I placed mine in his, I whispered over my shoulder to Jules, “If I don’t come back, tell the label I died doing what I loved.”

She winked. “Getting kissed by dangerously attractive people?”

“Exactly.”

The hotel suite was too perfect. One of those penthouse setups, city skyline visible through floor-to-ceiling windows, jazz playing faintly from somewhere. There was a tray of cocktails already set out, like they’d planned this. Because they probably had.

“Pick your poison,” Charles offered, already shrugging off his jacket and rolling up his sleeves.

Alexandra was by the window, slipping off her heels, her back arched just enough to make my throat go dry.

“I—uh, anything’s fine,” I managed.

She handed me a coupe glass with something pale and sparkling inside. “This one’s sweet. You strike me as someone who likes the bite underneath the sugar.”

My brain short-circuited. “Sure. That’s… accurate.”

We sat. Alexandra beside me. Charles across. Too far to touch—but not too far to stare. And he was staring.

“Your performance,” he said, swirling his drink slowly, “was magnetic.”

My face was hot. “Thank you.”

“No,” Alexandra chimed in, eyes not leaving mine, “You don’t understand. The way you held the room. The way you held us. It wasn’t just good. It was…” She paused. “Deliberate.”

I blinked. “You noticed that?”

“We notice everything,” Charles said, voice quiet. “Especially you.”

The air shifted. Subtle, but immediate. I took a slow sip of my drink to fill the silence, only to realize I’d already downed most of it. Alexandra gently took the glass from my hand, setting it on the table without breaking eye contact.

“Can I ask you something?” she said. I nodded.

“Have you been thinking about it all night?” Her voice was like velvet. “The kiss.”

“Yes,” I breathed. Instinctive. Honest.

Charles leaned forward slightly. “Good.”

I felt like I was floating. Or falling. Or both.

He stood, walked toward us, and crouched down in front of me, his eyes gentle but dark with something heavier. “And if I kissed you right now?”

My breath hitched. “I don’t think I’d stop you.”

I very gently peeled Charles’ arm off me and slid out of bed in a tangle of limbs and regret-tinged euphoria. Alexandra shifted slightly, her face still angelic against the pillow, hair loose and wild. I was doomed.

I threw on my robe and tiptoed into the living room of the suite like I was escaping a crime scene. I grabbed my phone from the couch and immediately dialed Jules. She picked up on the second ring.

“Did you die?” she asked, voice still scratchy with sleep.

“I think I’m in a romantic crisis,” I whispered. “A sexy, slow-burn, European art film kind of crisis.”

There was a pause. “Where are you?”

“Charles and Alexandra’s hotel suite.”

“NO.”

“Yes.”

“YOU DID NOT—”

“I did!” I hissed. “And I liked it! But now I don’t know if it was just a one-night thing or if I imagined all the feelings or if they’re going to ghost me and continue being a power couple while I spiral into a ball of public humiliation and inner monologue hell!”

Jules let out a long, slow whistle. “Okay. Breathe. Did they say anything this morning?”

“I didn’t wait for anyone to wake up! I ran like a Victorian mistress fleeing the manor after an illicit affair!”

Suddenly, I felt arms wrap slowly, carefully, around my waist. My soul left my body. Charles’ voice was quiet, close, still rough from sleep. “You’re not a mistress, chérie. You’re the one we couldn’t stop thinking about all night.”

I turned so slowly. Charles looked impossibly good for someone who had just woken up—hair messy, eyes soft, mouth still curved in that stupidly charming half-smile.

“I—hi.”

He smiled. “Hi.”

Then Alexandra appeared in the doorway, wrapped in her robe, leaning against the frame like the muse of every chaotic bisexual daydream I’d ever had.

“You left the bed,” she said, eyes on me. “I was almost offended.”

“I was panicking,” I admitted. “Respectfully.”

Charles chuckled softly. “We figured you might.”

I blinked. “So… it wasn’t just a moment?”

Alexandra came closer, gently brushing a piece of hair from my face. “It was everything but just a moment.”

Charles nodded, his hand still holding my waist. “We’ve been watching you all night. Not just on stage. Every laugh, every glance. We didn’t want one night. We want more.”

My breath caught. “You’re serious?”

“Very,” Alexandra murmured, eyes locked on mine.

I bit my lip. “I just—I didn’t want to assume, and this morning felt like I was living in an A24 film with no context.”

Charles grinned. “Then let’s give it context.”

Alexandra laced her fingers through mine. “Let us take you to breakfast. Talk. Figure this out… together.”

I nodded. Maybe too quickly.

“And can Jules come?” I asked. “She’ll explode otherwise.”

Charles laughed. “She can interrogate us over coffee.”

Alexandra smirked. “We’re not scared.”

I smiled, a little shaky, a little high on everything.

I was already seated at the rooftop restaurant by the time Jules arrived, but I heard her before I saw her—heels sharp against the stone floor, her sigh loud enough to part the clouds above London. She slid into the seat beside me, sunglasses still on, expression unreadable.

“I need someone to explain to me, right now, why I woke up alone in a hotel bed while you were off having a ménage à trois with Monaco’s golden boy and someone with the face of a literal angel.”

Charles chuckled beside me. Alexandra just sipped her coffee.

I closed my eyes. “Jules, please.”

“No, no, I’m calm. I’m totally fine. Just wondering if I need to make laminated flashcards for your next PR disaster so I can keep up.”

Alexandra reached across the table, gentle and poised. “I’m sorry we surprised you.”

Jules finally took her sunglasses off, blinking like she was assessing a very expensive art piece. “Surprise isn’t the word I’d use. Ambush, maybe. Sexy ambush.”

Charles looked amused. “Would you like to ask us anything?”

Jules leaned back, folding her arms. “Are you in love with her?”

The silence was instant. Clean. Like air being vacuumed out of the sky. My fork clinked softly against the edge of my plate.

Alexandra didn’t flinch. “I think we’re at the beginning of something that could become that.”

Charles nodded, his voice quiet. “We didn’t plan it. But we felt it. And we’re not walking away from it.”

Jules turned to me. “And you?”

I swallowed hard. “I don’t know what it is yet. But it didn’t feel casual. Not even for a second.”

There was a long pause before Jules exhaled.

“Well,” she said, “as long as you don’t get your heart broken without me being there to destroy someone’s car, I guess I’ll allow it.”

Charles raised his brows. “Noted.”

Alexandra smiled, then turned to me. “Did you really think we’d ghost you?”

“I didn’t know what to think,” I admitted. “I woke up and it felt like—like maybe it wasn’t real. Or maybe it was a mistake.”

“It wasn’t,” Charles said simply.

“It was a beginning,” Alexandra added.

I looked between them. Both beautiful. Both grounded. Both looking at me like they weren’t going anywhere. I leaned into Jules for a second, like I needed one last anchor to who I was before all this. And then I looked back at them.

“Okay,” I whispered. “Let’s see where this goes.”

Alexandra reached for my hand. Charles smiled like the sun had just risen for the first time. And Jules, of course, flagged down the waiter.

“If YN is showing emotionally vulnerable today,” she muttered, “I’m going to need another cappuccino and a pain au chocolat. Stat.”

We were seated on the edge of the bed, camera crew resetting lights for the final wide shot.

Alex was fixing my lipstick for the fifth time. “You smudge more than anyone I know.”

“That’s because people keep kissing me,” I grinned.

Alex raised a brow. “You complaining?”

Charles, from behind the monitor, didn’t even look up. “If you are, we can stop.”

I turned  and gave him a pointed look. “I never said anything about stopping.” 

The room went quiet for a second, the air thick with that electric, unspoken something that had grown between us. 

“Just for the record,” Alex said as she handed the lipstick back, “this video is the least scandalous thing we’ve done lately.”

We all laughed. But no one said she was wrong.

Charles stood in front of me, tall, annoyingly smug, his eyes tracing every line of my face. “Nervous?” he asked.

“No,” I lied. “You?”

He smirked. “Terrified.”

I gripped the tie and tugged him closer—hard enough to wipe the smirk right off his face. He hit the wall behind him with a soft thud and grabbed at my hips, for a split second, we just stared at each other.

His voice dropped just enough for me to feel it in my spine. “You’re very good at that.”

“Acting?” I said, forcing a grin.

He shook his head. “Ruining me.”

“Final shot!” someone shouted.

I was jittery, buzzing with adrenaline and nerves and something else I didn’t want to name. Alex slipped her hand into mine just before the take, her thumb brushing over my knuckles.

“You okay?” she whispered.

I nodded. “You?”

She grinned. “I’m having the time of my life.”

Charles was watching us from across the room—his cue was to lean in the doorframe, casual. Except he didn’t look casual. He looked… captivated. Like he was seeing something he wanted to memorize. The camera rolled. We walked away. I didn’t look back. I didn’t have to. I already knew he was still watching.

I don’t usually watch the playback. But the second the monitor lit up with that slow-motion shot of Alex kissing me, of Charles in the doorway looking like sin incarnate in a suit—my curiosity got the better of me.

“Looks good,” the editor muttered.

Understatement of the century.

Alex watched too, arms folded beside me. “You know this is going to break the internet, right?”

“I’m not sure the internet deserves this,” I said, only half joking.

Then Charles joined us, cocked his head and said, “We look good together.”

We. Together. I didn’t say anything. But I felt it in my chest.

The hotel room was dim, lit only by the flicker of my phone screen and the soft city lights bleeding through the curtains. The three of us were a mess of limbs under the plush duvet — Alexandra draped across my stomach, her long hair tickling my skin, and Charles curled behind me, one hand tucked under the hem of my oversized tee, the other lazily holding his phone. It was quiet, the kind of quiet that only exists after everything explodes. My phone buzzed again. Then again.

Alex groaned without lifting her head. “You checking it or just letting it vibrate us to death?”

I grabbed it and squinted at the screen. “Trending in 24 countries. There’s an edit of you and me kissing with the caption ‘real cinema is back.’”

Charles chuckled, chin resting on my shoulder. “Do they like my cameo?”

“Someone said you looked like the sexy villain interrupting two sapphics mid-flirt.”

He grinned, unbothered. “Fair.”

Alex finally rolled over, her cheek now on my thigh, scrolling through her own feed. “There’s a thread analyzing the whole video. They know, YN.”

I looked down at her. “They think they know.”

Charles hummed behind me, warm and sleepy. “Let them talk. It’s our story.”

And somehow, with both of them tangled around me, I didn’t care what the world thought. Not right now.

“I think we started something,” I whispered.

Alex looked up at me. “Or maybe we’re just finally letting it happen.”

Charles kissed my shoulder again, quieter this time. “Either way, I’m in.”

And just like that, I silenced my phone. Let the world spiral — we were safe in the eye of the storm.

So a god helps him go to a different universe to be with her again. But everytime he goes to a universe, the world either kills the mc or him somehow. Following with pumpkin being royalty and sol not being able to live with us, what if after our death; he went to a different universe where we are classmates (equal parties!!) and now the entire purpose of his existence being, well, being with us forever?

Why Aventurine Joined The IPC in The First Place- An Essay

Hi tumblr !! I'm back once again analyzing Aventurine bc he makes me sick and crazy ^_^

I wanna talk about a really, REALLY important part of his character that I haven't really seen a big comprehensive analysis on- the reason why Kakavasha chose to be Aventurine in the first place.

Some people headcanon that his owner was the last Aventurine, and that he got screwed into having to take his place since he killed him. Other people think that he joined the IPC for revenge, and that he was always planning on climbing to the top and destroying them from the inside out. Most people seem to think he was forced to join the IPC and he didn't have a say in the matter. While I do see where these ideas are coming from I guess, they lack evidence and, more importantly, leave out an incredibly tragic and ironic piece of Aventurine's character, a piece that I think is absolutely crucial to understanding him / appreciating this sad, sad man as a whole:

Kakavasha chose to be Aventurine for himself, and now he regrets it.

I'm going to dive really deep into this, so do some stretches / grab a snack if you wanna keep reading.

I could argue that his regret is the backbone to his entire character. On a surface level, I understand the other theories, but I want to dive DEEP into the mind of this miserable blond man and expose the most vulnerable parts of his character. So, let's start right at the trial with Jade. Why was he on trial in the first place? What did he originally want? TLDR, Vasha killed his owner, he fucked with the IPC, and he let the IPC capture him so he could be on trial (preferably in front of the head honcho Diamond, but alas, he got Jade instead).

On trial, Vasha explains that he wants 30 tanba: no more, no less. I think we can infer that he wanted to earn back the other half of his market value and finally be at peace with that part of his life (as much as you can be after experiencing something so awful). He makes a bet with her, and what does he bet? His life. He bets that she wont kill him, and instead, she'll give him what he's asking for. But Jade offers him more than that. She explains to him that she can give him everything he wants and everything he’s never had, so long as he forfeits everything he has to the IPC and gives her some collateral, something of equal value. Being a literal slave, the only thing he has is…himself, really. Which, funny enough, that's what he offered up in the first place: his life. The trade offer is, kill your old identity and everything that has to do with it, and start a new life as somebody 'better'. Jade didn't tell him he had to join the IPC or the Stonehearts. He wasn't in debt with them, there's no proof that he 'owed them' 1 Aventurine, nobody ever mentions this. All she did was offer it to him.

I know what you're probably thinking: he didn't really have a choice, though. It was either join the IPC or die.

But oh, that's where the deliciously painful detail comes in- he absolutely did have a choice. Never said it was a good choice, but still. He could have said no, and he could have accepted his death sentence. Jade did initially say she'd give him the pocket change he wanted (I did the math actually and concluded that 60 tanbas is roughly the equivalent to $3, which is also the standard value of a caret of Aventurine) so he could have left it there, be satisfied with earning his 'worth', and died. But, he didn't. After all, he fought tooth and nail to stay alive, right? He just killed 35 people with his bare hands to save his own life. Death is so final, and it's scary, and he spent so long trying to run from it. Though he was probably anticipating the IPC would want him dead after his trial was over, he was more focused on earning back his money. After all, his luck would surly come through and save him...and it did (kind of). Jade offered him more than he could ever want, and it got him thinking. Up until this point, he had been nothing but a lowly Avgin: a slave, a victim of poverty and genocide, a child who was supposedly blessed by Gaithra but still saw nothing but pain and suffering his entire life. He's being offered an opportunity that sounds too good to be true. Finally, he'd have a chance to prove his worth. How lucky!

And, I think it's interesting that while she's saying this, he doesn't really say anything. That's what personally leaves me to believe he wasn't expecting such an offer and it lowkey caught him off guard, and he didn't even have to verbally agree before Jade was telling him to go pick out a new outfit that matched his new identity. And after that flashback scene, Aventurine is quiet for a hot minute, and then says in reflection:

Objectively, he made the 'correct' choice to show the world his value, and he did! He's one of the most powerful people in the IPC, richer than anybody could imagine, and he's feared and respected as a shrewd, brilliant business man. The problem now is that he has no value for himself. Why not? Let's remember what his sister said to him before she died:

She told him, "never resent the pain and poverty you're going through", because their mother had told them, "pain and poverty are the trials of Giathra Triclops". What did he do in that moment with Jade? He resented the pain and poverty he went through. He resented the Katicans, the IPC, the people who enslaved him + man who bought him, the world for screwing him over, everybody. He was probably thinking, "I can be worth more than $3, I can earn a seat at any table I want, I can prove that I'm important and powerful and not to be messed with. Everybody thinks Avgins are worthless, I can prove them wrong." I think he also justified it by thinking, "if I'm in a place of power, I can help the Avgins, I can help people, I'm not just doing this for me" (yes he is).

Also extremely important moment in this same scene, his sister was scolding him for risking his life to save her gold necklace. He made a bet with the Katicans who stole it and won, and what does his sister say? She tells him that it was a foolish decision and he had her worried sick, and he should never risk his life for something as stupid as a necklace. Vasha is confused, because he thought she'd be happy. He's like, but it's your gold necklace, the only thing you have left from mama ): and she's like well yes but at the end of the day it's just an object, YOU are what matters in my life. YOU are my only brother, my only family, the most important thing. YOU have to live on.

Coincidence that he ended up killing off Kakavasha to be Aventurine? Not at all. And you know what? I fully believe after he agreed to be Aventurine, he regretted not choosing death. When I first mentioned that he did have a choice: be Aventurine or die, I bet a lot of people read that and scoffed like, "pft, that's hardly a choice" but this is Aventurine we're talking about! Such a massive part of his character is surrounding death! His entire arc is centered around how desperately he hates himself and how much he wants to die, doesn't it make so much more sense why when you unpack his character this way?

I bet he thinks about going back and getting executed by the IPC. At least he could have died as someone he knew, someone he could recognize in a mirror (even though he never had one of those until he joined the IPC, so he only ever saw himself as Aventurine...painful, right?) He could have died as Kakavsha, someone he knew that his mother and sister loved. Now, though? Would his mother and sister love someone like him? A selfish, cruel, top executive for the IPC? Would they love him if they knew what he was doing? Would they love 'Aventurine'?...does anybody love 'Aventurine'? His sister made him swear he'd 'protect this wealth', but he sold it in a heartbeat. Now all he has is material wealth- what he grew up without, and ended up envying. The IPC quite literally owns him now- I know people insist on saying this isn't true and he still has some autonomy but be serious please, even though they don't outright say that once you're a Stoneheart you are one for the rest of your life, they really shouldn't have to. If you're given a position as one of the ten most powerful humans in...basically, the entire world, a branch of people that work for the scary government who basically owns...the entire world, do you honestly think they'd ever just let you go? You think they'd fire you like a normal ass person and tell you to pack up your cubical and hit the unemployment office? The IPC, the people who are literally cartoon super villain levels of evil?? Of course not. Aventurine is stuck there forever now, held on a rather tight chain, and he knows that, he knows the only way out would be to die (wink) or disappear off the face of the earth (wink wink).

Also, not for nothing, but he managed to cost the IPC literal billions of dollars by tricking them into looking for resources that don't fucking exist as a slave. He didn't have to be in the IPC to screw with them. If he really wanted to, he's clearly capable of causing massive damage to them all on his own. Yes, it would be easier to destroy the IPC while inside of it and I guess you could argue that's why he joined them, but again, I just don't think that view point does much for his character.

AND the very, very important piece of information that debunks the 'revenge' theory for me is that he didn't know the Avgins were gone until AFTER he became Aventurine. There was no way he went into that situation knowing that the IPC got them all killed. Sure, he probably knew the IPC was evil / that they're the ones who enslaved him (the people in black comment) but knowing they're evil isnt the same as knowing they wiped out the Avgin race. He probably figured, even if they're evil, they have the power to help people. Even though they don't, if I'm in the IPC, I can.

Let's take a look at character story Part III: (yes I quote this ALL the time in my essays but it's SO important so I will continue to do so)

"The Avgins in Sigonia... what happened to them afterward?"

"Unfortunately, there are no more Avgins in Sigonia. You're the last lucky dog."

"What about those people who helped me on planet ██? Now I can finally repay their kindness."

"They are no more, either."

...

He returns to his office in a daze. The aventurine stone emits a peculiar glow on his desk, seemingly congratulating and mocking him at the same time.

"Was luck truly on your side when you wrestled with fate?"

.

That justification I mentioned, where he was probably thinking he could do some good with such a high position? Immediately not an option anymore. Everybody he wanted to help is already dead, and who is responsible? Drumroll, please! The people he now belongs to! And now, he's screwed! It's too late to go back. Was luck on his side in that trial? He bet his life, after all...and he lost it. He got a new, shiny one in return, but still, he lost HIS. The first time in his entire life he had a choice, he had an ounce of autonomy, he chose wrong. And now it haunts him (literally and figuratively).

I really believe this was the catalyst for his regret and the start of his downward spiral. And this is, again, why the revenge theory just doesn't pack enough of a punch for me. Why does he hate himself so much? Why is he constantly trying to get himself killed?

Sure, I absolutely think being enslaved for several years didn't help his self worth. I think it instilled some extremely damaging beliefs, like thinking his worth is represented by a price tag over his head. He got attached to the idea of gaining wealth, earning a seat at the table, proving he's 'worth' a lot. The more money he accumulates, the more he can hide behind. The bigger the bet, the bigger the win, the bigger the payout. The more jewelry and clothing and liquor, the more masks he can wear, the more frivolous shit to hide behind. It gives him control. He can see his worth laid out in front of him. And since his luck never fails, he just keeps getting more. But, he's always hanging onto one chip, one last chip because he knows that unlike other people, his worth can be lost all in an instant. Its all material. 'Aventurine' is all material- he's glitz and glamour and wealth. God forbid he loses that...what's he left with? Himself? Who's that? It's not Kakavasha anymore. It's a made up character, a role he plays everyday.

Which, is why I don't think the concept of his worth is the only reason for his self-hatred. I think the majority of it is because he became exactly who he used to resent. He's reckless with his life because he doesn't want it, because he regrets getting it in the first place, because...is it even his? It's why he considers himself, more than anything else, a MASSIVE loser, even though he wins every gamble he takes, because he has 'everything' and lost the one thing he wanted.

Of course, he keeps a tiny shred of his original identity. He embraces his roots and recognizes himself as the last Avgin alive, but one who now shares traits with the Katicans. Selfish, cruel, blood-thirsty, these are all words he and his sister used to describe the Katicans in the past, which he now uses to describe himself. He literally describes himself as a selfish crazy murderer:

Also, when asked why the Katicans were so cruel, his sister told him, "they want everything, only to end up with nothing." That's the exact mistake Aventurine made. And idk if I'd necessarily call him cruel, but he's definitely not very nice! As much as I love Aventurine with my entire heart, and even though I do think these parts of his personality are a mix of 'persona I have to keep up' and 'I'm fucking miserable and even though it's my fault I'm going to make it everybody else's problem', that doesn't change the fact that he's problematic. He's manipulative, bitchy, condescending, bratty, and he's selfish (despite him being pretty generous with his money, he's giving people money + gifts in hopes that he'll get their attention or support in return, and the general choices he makes during Penacony are inherently selfish. Not to mention he has more money than any person could ever need, but again, that ties back to his obsession with his 'worth'). That ofc isn't all he is, and I do hate it when people characterize him to just be a crazy evil asshole with no conscience because he has lots of good qualities, but it just furthers my point that he has quite literally become everything he used to hate.

I don’t think I even need to mention the fact that he’s literally haunted by Aventurine AND Kakavasha in his quest line, both of them are there with present him, who is seemingly weird combination of the two of them. The guy who "never changed", but did, in reality.

So TLDR, based on all of this, I interpret his character like this:

He chose to join the IPC for himself. He wanted the money, he wanted the power, he wanted the glory. But, he felt guilty for wanting it because in the back of his head, he thought of his mother and his sister who told him that nothing is more valuable than your life or your family, everything else is just material. Even so, he wanted it. For once in his life, he wants to be the one sitting at the table. So, he did it, and he justified it to himself by saying "well, this must be my good luck at work! Maybe this is the reward for all my pain and suffering! I'll join the IPC and I'll use the resources to help the Avgins, and to help the people who need it." Of course, that doesn't happen because the IPC is literally full of cartoon supervillains, and he feels that first sting of oh...shit, that wasn't supposed to happen. It's giving, "I told myself I'd use this position to help people, that this was the best choice for everybody, but I actually made the decision out of selfishness. I learned too late that the Avgins are gone and I can't help them anymore, so now I'm bitter af because I'm still a slave, I just belong to the people who killed my race rather than the dirty old man who bought me. I made a mistake and I wanted the Aventurine stone, but now that I have it, it doesn't feel how I thought it would, and the price I paid was more than anything I can ever win in a casino. My life is a meaningless performance now, so everyday I fill the void in my chest with money and superficial relationships and liquor and poker and try not to think about how fucking miserable I am." And he has nobody to "blame" for it but himself. Ofc he can blame the Katicans, the IPC, the entire world, but the person he resents the most will always be himself, because at the end of the day, this was his choice.

Do I blame him? Absolutely not! That's why I put scare quotes around the word, because that's what's so tragic about him. Anybody would have made that choice. People in WAY better positions than him would have sold their soul for WAY less. He had a fucked up ass life, and one of my favorite parts about his character (ironically) is how human he is. Ironic, imo, because he's constantly viewed as anything other than human. A slave, a stone, a flashy persona, a ruthless executive, but never just what he IS at his core, which is a terrified twenty something year old guy who made a mistake. It's incredibly human to want things, to want money and status and respect, ESPECIALLY when you grew up facing nothing but abuse. But he was so focused on worth, on proving his worth to himself and everybody else, he was so stuck on that price tag attached to him that he wanted to prove he was better than that. And he did, at the detriment to himself.

So...sneaky guy who wants revenge on the IPC and just happens to be a really suicidal / jaded (no pun intended) person as a result of trauma? Sure, I guess. But internally tortured guy who lives every second of his life riddled with guilt, cant even look in the mirror without seeing his mother's and sister's eyes on someone he doesn't even recognize? MUCH better, imo. Obviously anybody can interpret his character however they want to, but thank you for hearing me out (:

and i dont BLAME yall bc idw havent done that much with them yet. HOWEVER....

they have way more potential than sage and metal do SORRY.

i think its pretty clear we're gonna have an ongoing ordeal with belle trying to help and/or reform metal over the next few arcs

i think, arguably, belle has shown the most true care for metal compared to ANY other character in the series EVER, and DEFINITELY the most care in idw.

she had no reason to help metal other than she wants to help other robots. she even drags him to a safe place when things become dire, showing how dedicated she is to helping others.

and on metal's part? well...

metal, upon first awakening, saves her from a badnik. now, this may be just because she's also an eggman robot, its just part of his coding, however, i also think it shows that metal is treating belle better than he does most others, considering he killed a badnik for belle.

next, their interaction with eggman together

firstly, i freaked out here because while the 'both' here seems to be referencing belle and starline, the fact hes referencing being called father specifically almost makes me think hes referring to metal and belle... another post for another time.

i think how metal reacts is very subtle in these frames, but i think it shows he has some sort of respect for belle.

im SO intruiged by how metal looks at belle when she says shes leaving and moving on. almost a look of shock? confusion? its hard to read metals emotions but i feel like his body language here displays more surprise than anger. it's also important to note metal has specifically had any trace of rebellion coded out of him, this is probably somewhat shocking to see a fellow eggman creation just... up and announce leaving !

i also think that eggman eagerly asking if belle wants to fight metal, and her refusing and saying she fixed him, helped him, 'just like all the robots [eggman] abandon[s]', shows that she wants to help metal. i think she, even if having just met metal, has become committed to helping him in one way or another. once again, metal looks at her in this scene, and he seems calm, as opposed to preparing to attack.

now, metal and belle meeting a second time.

first, she just calls out to him during a fight, clearly having decided she wants to save him from being under eggman. it shows her care, but i believe it pales in comparison to their next scene together.

in this scene, belle forces herself between metal and sonic. she has such confidence she can stop him [that he wont hurt HER] that she puts herself directly in the line of danger.

and for a moment it.... works?

now, this may be because of eggman's orders

but i think its supposed to be more than that, and sonic himself implies it is too

and even though metal ends up pushing belle out of the way, he still hurts her much less than he COULD have

and belle, she seems more upset she failed to help metal than physically hurt.

metal moves her out of the way to get to sonic. simply following orders.

i think belle and metal have a LOT of potential together and i really can't wait to see what idw does with them

i also appreciate the fact that metal ALSO seems to care for belle at least a little, so it's more than just hopeless please on belle's side.

plus... she actually knows, at least a little, what it's like to be in metal's position, unlike almost any other characters in the series.

i think at the beginning of the season, they do die to spacelion individually but they eventually become allies once planet nd mane are on 20 and less annoying.

i also think mapicc would inevitably fall back on old habits and eventually be allies w bacon specifically but thats later in the season. mapicc is only allies w bacon BUT he will pull up w hannah if bacon asks him for help even if it also means helping poafa and jumper.

He once walked in on you eating what can only be described as a 3 course meal that would be served at a thanksgiving dinner. He is both surprised, and horrified once he finds out that it is the normal amount of food for you because of your extremem muscle density.

Once tried to challenge you to an arm wrestle match just to see how he could compare, and that day he found out that you had an absolutely insane physical strength after winning with just your pinky finger. He will do everything to hide that fact

Being the most realistic out of all of the employees at I.M.P, Moxxie is outright terrified of your strength.

He can and will try to keep you happy, already wanting to hide in fear at just the thought of you having a bad day.

No matter how much you re-assure him, its gonna take a while before he actually begins to think you wont kill someone whenever you feel angry.

He thinks its both impressive and weird how that you can eat so much food without even gaining as much as a miligram. He won't comment on that tho.

He is very curious as to how your weapon works. Y'know since its metal, yet can be used as a whip.

Millie

She thinks your weapon is incredibly cool, and encourages you to use it more often.

She's asked you about how well you think you'd do with other weapons as well.

Either way will still love you, regardless of your choice of weapon <3

You two are a power couple and you can't convince me otherwise (two strong women who can and will kick the ass of anyone who disrespects them in any way, shape or form).

He likes how strong you are, makes him feel safe. Mostly because you'll kick the ass of anyone who dares try to hurt him.

He was surprised when your power of love wasn't some sort of magic to make others fall in love, but is quite literally love turned into raw power.

I wanna befriend them all. and I feel like there's been a good balance to spend time with all the characters so far and that makes me really happy. 😌Also cuddling with Zahn was so sweet oh my god, I love them so much too! I got so many more questions about MC and the curse, and the mark for that matter, looking forward to when we finally get some answers.

Cue to me acting like a variety game host and going "We have a cult member, a magician, childhood friends and also a wolf...what about you Aster ? What do you bring to make we choose you ?" The answer was being a DILF

Lol! Oh dear, yeah, bestie has a quarter-life crisis and leaves his wife and 4 kids to live that DILF life. Love it, this is some quality daytime TV stuff. 😆 

8. Anon:  Hello there! I am currently in the middle of the newest chapter, very very good work! Spoiler ahead : So MC is absorbing magic? That might actually help the theory that somehow MC is a god, demi-god, or whatever that is: cursed because they are on this plane and needing magic as a very part of their being? I can't imagine that a god wouldn't be starving for magic if deprived of it. Perhaps in GC it's not magic gods handle, but something similar? The fact that we CHOSE the mark truly makes me think that somehow we were choosing an aspect of ourselves for some reason. Not only something physical either. If not our domain, perhaps a tell of why we were cursed in the first place ? I wonder if, before the Curse manifested, MC would have been flagged as a magic being ? I don't think there was anybody that could have sussed them out back then though ? Rune is amazing, btw, big fan. Can't wait for Purple Lad to accompany us and need a bath as badly as Duri did !

Oooh, are you perhaps my Nony who sent some other theories in about this? Very juicy theory as well. Next chapter you'll learn a bit more about Hayat's curse over the gods and see if it lines up or changes your thoughts more. 😁 I'm glad you like Rune too! They are in for a new experience for sure. Even if they aren't as stuffy as other nobles, they definitely appreciate more refined things. The little town MC grew up in might be a bit of a culture shock.

Anon:  replayed the IF from the start for the update and gosh i felt so bad for our dear MC who has gone through SO much in a (relatively) short amount of time. and the way MC just always thinks about their fathers makes me sobbbbbb. one that always gets me is the scene where MC cried out for their fathers when they were in pain (my heart broke when they said they wanted to be held by their papa). another is in the scene with jasper and co. (‘i learned it from my fathers!’, yesss go MC!!!!). but oh, just imagining the absolute heartbreak the fathers would feel if they knew how MC cried out for them and knew about everything that MC went through, makes me tear up! MC is SO loved by their fathers and MC loves them just as much and i love that. i hope we’ll be able to give da and papa the biggest hugs when we see them again 🥹wonderful update, author! i absolutely adore the world you’ve built and the brilliant characters you’ve created (shout out to one my favs.. our new she-wolf friend <3)

I set out on this IF journey intending to be a bit hard on the MC and I think I succeeded, lol. It might be hard to believe but I really do love the MC as a character too and I feel for them. Hopefully not too hard, but they're on a journey of perseverance so I have faith in them. ^_^ That scene really tore me up too, especially thinking about how hard it would hit the dads to know their beloved kid was calling out to them. 😭 I am so glad you enjoyed the update, my dear, there will be great big dad-hugs in the future, I promise (and more than a few tears). ^_^

Okay, so, from the very moment i saw your intro post (over half a year ago, methinks) i decided to go for Rune's route first. I have been very patient, very faithful. And now i can finally say it was so, so worth the wait!!! they have me wrapped all around their beautiful noble finger; they're perfect, they are everything (i mean, how many people can say a literal god shows up for their birthday? yeah, thought so). I know they are no exception either and have their own share of issues, but honestly? that's even better. I wish i was kidding about the amount of times i daydream about them. Look at me now how i'm smiling like a stupid idiot. And the fact that i can make my MC an absolute shy mess around them is just so!! *chef's kiss* 

"Oh no it got long again" is like the tagline for my existence, lol. I am so giddy that you adore Rune! I think they've had less traction since they weren't introduced until now, but I also believe they are just the type of person that is better experienced. I enjoy writing all of the ROs, but Rune is such a presence in my heart and I really hope that comes through.

Also, did Duri seriously rat them out like that? Umm, for science, of what nature, exactly, are the books under Runey's bed?

LOL and I'm so glad you caught that bit about their "hidden literature." Rune LOVES romance novels, including the ridiculous smutty ones even if the plot is kinda bad.

Anyway, moving on, because you fed us so well with the story once again!! Can i just say i love your brain? Can i? Is that weird? Apologies. So!

You can totally say that, lol. I appreciate that you think so, my brain frustrates me sometimes, but I like how smooth it is. Very soft.

We learned so much in this update, and yet our answers are still too far to reach--but that's the whole fun about this! I'm thinking things, i'm suspecting, but i'll hold onto my theories for now… It is indeed very fortunate that each of MC's new friends can seemingly contribute a piece to this vexing puzzle; question is, is the picture only missing the very last piece, or are all four needed for it to be complete? I'm folding my hands and patiently waiting to find out in future updates. 

Oooh, you're speaking my language, Nony. There are some theories up above, maybe those will get your mind spinning too. That's a very good question though too. Eveyone seems to have something that might help MC out…so the question could be, do they go full Power Rangers and combine them to solve this problem or is one strong enough on their own? Hmmmmm? Time will tell.

One thing i will say is, more people may know about MC and their whole deal than Oswin may want to even consider. People with not the best intentions, that is.

I'm sure it's fiiiiiine. Probably just a…crazy…crazy fluke. It's fine. 😀

Speaking of, Oswin is so sweet! He cares so much i think it's rending him apart. Perhaps he should partake of Nathan's pipe every now and then. You know, for recreational purposes. Frankly i admit i don't know how mean you still can be to Oswin because every time there's a choice during his scenes i just tunnel-vision to the friendliest one there. It really makes me feel sorry for him if there are MCs out there who are still bitter about their relationship. As he was opening up about what kinds of actual horrors he witnessed and had to deal with in consequence, it really made me think MC's little group should, as a side-quest, go out and find him a therapist, because this guy *slaps him on the back* can fit so much trauma in him!

That's a good way to describe Oswin. He feels very intensely and those emotions are difficult for him to manage. I try not to be too mean to him, but I do want to try and give a decent variety of responses to the past tension for some MCs. Negativity there isn't a huge focus, so I try not to go too far down the rabbit hole with it at least, lol. A therapist is a great idea for him, for real. You cracked me up with that reference, I imagine Lakota trying to sell him to the MC, lol.

 I see Zahn has entered the trenches(TM). Just after i had them repeatedly stabbed in MC's place. And just after they finally got to cuddle with MC. This is fine. Not gonna lie, for a solid second you had me believe we wouldn't see them come back from that totally not evil or at least highly doubtful church of theirs, and that we'd had to leave without them. Haha, no waay. Lunan wouldn't do that to them, right? Right? Oh thank gods. See? I was right. Anyway, it seems like their character development arc is coming up soon, so i'm keeping calm and not cracking my knuckles, not at all.

Oh yes, there will be some development soon here. Tee hee?

Duri is so fun. Their playfulness is so endearing, so much so that i find myself repeatedly swayed in my decision to have them in a (now mostly) platonic relationship with MC. Simmer down, you'll have your turn. It had me rolling how they snapped once the bandits insulted their feet lmao! Also, also, their dynamic with Rune? Mmm, so good. I love the kind of friendship that's like "yeah i picked up this weird wet dog one day and now it won't leave me be and it's annoying, but only i'm allowed to say that. here, have a treat."

I love that you love that. Writing Duri is fun and I get to break some social norms with them so it's a win-win for us all. The relation to Rune is a blast.

Moving on, Duri sniffing MC after they talked with someone they didn't know; Duri immediately leaping at the opportunity to tease a jealous MC; Duri coming to MC's rescue to put a harasser in their place--they can't keep getting away with being so charming! Oh wait, they can. Human laws don't apply to them, after all.

Duri is already so loyal. Like a pup you picked up at the shelter, the connection is pretty quick for them. Also, if you didn't know, you can also get Rune to get defensive of MC being harassed in the tavern. Currently thinking of changing the code of that, but if you choose to stay neutral or a bit distrustful of Duri, Rune will get involved instead. Both have the confidence and the power to back it up though, can't go wrong.

And Aster? Something is up with him. Big time. Bost obviously, his name. I don't know, i don't know, i'm not convinced it's a coincidence or merely "fate." I'm watching you, Aster. Okay, and yes, i see why MC might need his help, but he never once elaborated on that part where he said he needs MC for power. Sooo, naah, i'm not putting my egg in your basket, not yet. Especially!! After he so brutally demonstrated just how much of a bigger hand he has over MC. That was evil. (In a good way.) He's unhinged, and i love that in a character. I would not trust him even with a cheese grater.

That may be wisdom here for sure, lol. Aster is quite the character, as are all of them I suppose. All have secrets he especially has some serious growing to do. He'll be an interesting addition - and a very smug one at that. Maybe juuuust maybe MC can get him to feel a little remorse for being an ASSter, to quote a previous ask, lol.

I almost thought MC's group of friends were going to mistake him for the kidnapper and everyone would want to throw hands, or would at least be very leery of him, so seeing how easily he slotted in had me a little surprised (and i think he was a bit surprised himself).

That very nearly happened actually. I cut it because of chapter length, and I'm thinking I want to polish the ending for that anyway. I feel like I was burnt out while writing that and I pushed it too fast. So, we'll see what happens in future….

I really, really liked the option of having MC be scared of him after he put a cork (dart) in Jasper's mouth (throat). The head tilt afterwards? Wiping away a stray tear? "Now come sit with me on my picnic blanket designer cloak to talk about how everything is drawn to you, including me?" "I'll need to study you?" Yes, i'll take your entire stock.

I'm glad you enjoyed your dessert, Nony. ;) There will be some serious studying in the next chapter.

Oswin being extremely quiet while MC was recounting their failed abduction because he was still recovering from those 6 panic attacks he had since finding MC's room empty and with signs of struggle.

 i can't wait to see what the dads are going to say about each of MC's new friends! I can already imagine who might not entirely vibe with whom, especially if papa and da are going to be in a sour mood after they see my (feral despite being the healer of the party) MC scarred and sore despite their letters containing nothing but rainbows and sunshine (oops). MC's right, though, how are they going to house so many people lol.

This will be so much fun, especially when it comes to sleeping arrangements…A couple ROs will get themselves sorted but there's a couple that we might just get a "one bed" trope with, lol.

And last but not least, MC got the promised puppy!!! (i named her "Ginger" <33) 

Oh that is such a cute name too! She is kinda the color of ginger and she's also very gentle (ginger) AND she can be very spicy if you piss her off. Very gingery.

idk why but i feel like Cootstorm won't be the only cat that stays behind. like Nightberry or maybe even Slugpelt will stay behind too, for two different reasons

Cootstorm thinks they are bound to the land and the suffering as a divine punishment for their ancestors past sins, but she doesn't strike me as particularly sentimental.

Nightberry strikes me more as someone who would stay behind to tend to the graves of the cats they lost, rather than wallow in the misery 'ough out destiny is to suffer!!!!'. to keep their memory alive. plus she is kind of old and lived here for even longer than Cootstorm, so i feel like leaving for her would be a whole lot harder, especially without Cypressfoot.

Slugpelt.. i can see her both leaving with her living children, but also i can see her staying behind as some sort of self-imposed punishment. im thinking how she was taking small steps in repairing her relations with her kits, only for every next event take it away and shred it apart. every step forward, she was in the end forced to take twice as many back. Aphodelpaw was murdered just as Slugpelt tried to be more for her and her siblings. Rainhaze came back only to reveal that he killed Asphodelpaw and Slugpelt in blind, heartbroken rage killed him back. she lost everything, except for Pinepaw and Daffodilpaw. i can see her giving up on making thinks better and just.. stay. everytime she tried to change something in her life, it only went worse. so why bother? she might as well stay in the BarrenClan with Cootstorm and wither away. which would be even more ironic since she WANTED to leave with Cashew all those moons ago, and he left her soon after she found out she is pregnant. another nail to her barren coffin.

i dont think anyone else would stay. at least not with Cootstorm all alone tbh

Redpelt would definitely do everything she can to get Blacknose and the kits out. Plumstripe and Beeface might have an epiphany and realize they need to step up to take their father's place and take care of their mother (especially now that her dementia seems to take a harsh turn) and baby siblings, so no.

Egrettail.. maybe? for the same sentimental reason like Nightberry, but i dont want to leave her alone with Cootstorm for longer than 5 minutes lol she deserves better than that.

i think Daffodilpaw would leave to help Blacknose too. maybe she could also convince Slugpelt to leave as well.

Cormorantpaw would leave without a doubt, purely bc Defiance knows of his current location. i doubt he would feel good staying here with this knowledge anymore. again, i think he deserves better than stay with Cootstorm.

i can see Pinepaw staying, like Slugpelt hypothetically in some form of self-imposed punishment for his curiosity killing many cats, but. i doubt he will do that since Cootstorm stays too. maybe he wont move all the way out of the territory, but he doesnt seem like he would like to spend his remaining years/moons with her as his only companion.

Look at all these predictions! I love the thought you put into how each character might approach the daunting task of deciding their future. I hope you like what I do with them all.

the worst lower back pains when she wakes up

i fear her stomach will do a whole somersault and multiple olympic level flips throughout the second day

the amount of fatigue hits her one day and then is completely manageable afterwards

and yes she will bitch and moan ab this when she wakes up

You feel Mizu stir awake beside you, her eyebrows furrowing into the pillow.

“Good morning”, you whisper close to her ear, gently kissing down from her cheek to her neck.

“Mmfm… morning…”, Mizu groans, stretching awake, her eyes fluttering open to a brand new day.

You look up to meet her eyes as the morning sun peaked through the curtains.

“You feel okay?”

She shook her head no, grumbling about sleeping in more. She attempts to stretch her back. However, you find her face twist into discomfort and fatigue, groaning once again from the shooting pains in her back.

“Fucking hell”, she mumbles, “I’m going to kill my back.”

“I think that would kill you first.”, you answer back. “I’ll go get tea and aspirin for you, wait here.”

modern!mizu’s mood is usually stable, except that calm she tries to maintain slips away on her period

she gets more competitive than irritated on her bad days

taigen pisses her off a little bit A LOT MORE more than usual

one time he wanted to play a match of archery against mizu

mind you, both of them had little to no experience with a bow and arrow

taigen thought it would be fun for shits and giggle because he saw katniss everdeen do it and thought she was sick asf

yes hes watched the whole hunger games series bc he whole heartedly believes he can win the 74th games… i’d love to see him try to survive too.

and guess who ends up getting wrapped up in it… our girl mizu

“Taigen, for the last time, I’m not playing make believe Hunger Games with you.”, Mizu grumbled, continuing to solve her homework.

“It’s not make believe, it’s archery. Just because it was in Hunger Games doesn’t mean its not real.”, Taigen claimed. “Can you get that through your thick skull or do I have to stick an arrow in your head first?”

Mizu’s head lifted up, her eyes squinting in annoyance. In her head, an imaginary arrow struck him at the very moment.

“You think you’re so good at everything, huh.”, Mizu scoffs, placing down her pencil.

“I just know you’ll be an easy target.”, Taigen declares, his face smug with confidence.

Mizu challenges him. “And I know you’ll be an even easier one.”

they both end up bothering akemi, begging her to borrow her bows and arrows for this competition

of course, she complies with one request: allowing an audience (you, her, and ringo) to watch and fairly judge each one’s skills

all judged fairly, with taigen as the winner by one point ahead

and mizu demanding a rematch

to this day, she’s still bitter ab that competition

modern!mizu enjoys getting a little special treatment from time to time

yes she does spoil you quite a lot with her actions

but small things such as prepping the snacks before binge watching or making the tea for her or letting her be a small spoon when cuddling warms her heart

acts of service warms her heart

“Nooo, don’t leave yet.”, Mizu grudges, playfully pulling at your arm as you escape her grasp.

“Then you’re not getting your tea.”, you jest.

You walk to the counter, pouring the hot water into your mugs. Coming back to the couch with herbal teas in hand, you smile and hand one to Mizu first.

“See, I’m back. And I have a surprise for you too.”

You come close to Mizu, planting a soft, gentle kiss on her lips. Mizu, now delighted by the tea, thanks you with another sweet kiss, grinning from ear to ear.

when it’s only you and modern!mizu, she becomes a snuggle bug

when you’re watching a show or before falling asleep, she will steathily and silently find herself much closer to you

sneaking an arm around you

and find yourself wrapped up in her arms while she enjoys the labors of her fruit

(sorry i don’t make the rules i just follow them)

she lovessss to wrap her arms around you at night and be a big spoon so she can hug you all night

or be a little spoon with your palms facing her lower stomach, totally not providing her with a makeshift heating pad

You wake up in the middle of the night, finding Mizu on her side, her arms away from you reaching out to the darkness. You shift over, wrapping her closer to yours with gentle pull. A small hum erupts from the sleeping Mizu, as her arm reaches behind, lazily tugging your arm.

“Yes?”, you ask, wondering what her next move was.

She drops your arm over her stomach. A tug pulls your wrist under her baggy shirt, your palm making contact with her lower stomach. You hear a delighted sigh, as Mizu let go of your wrist.

You patiently waited what would follow this move. But all you felt was the slight rise and fall of her breath.

In the morning, you question if she recalled what she did.

“Hey baby?”

“Yeah?”

You looked up at her.

“Did you ever wake up in the middle of the night?”

Mizu shook her head no.

“Did something happen?”, she asked, slightly concerned.

“No, not really.”, you lied.

The cuddling was cute already. Her doing it unknowingly? Even cuter.

“I just thought I heard something.”

“Ok schizo.”, she teased, smiling before taking another sip of her morning tea.

“Hey!”

if you thought she was competitive on her own, ohhhh goodness her mood swings make her more merciless

modern!mizu would get irritated over the littlest things, especially if they build up throughout the day and there’s no time to release that pent up energy

you end up with a grumpy mizu

the best remedy for this? telling her she’ll get surprise if she does something for you

it takes her mind off of her worries/complaints from the day

and even if the surprise was a big ol’ hug and loving kisses, it would relieve some of the stress mizu was holding onto

“Welcome back.”, you greet her, giving her a peck on the cheek. “Thank you for getting the ingredients.”

Mizu placed the grocery bags on the counter.

“So what was my surprise?”, she questioned, curious of what’s to come.

“Just this.”, you answer, wrapping your arms around her neck, pulling her close for a loving kiss.

As you pull away, you see her eyes light up, a much different set than her annoyed, gloomy self before going on a grocery trip. Her arms wrap around your waist, pulling you close once again.

“Just that?”, she says, mimicking the sweetness in your voice before going in for another kiss.

“Besides dinner, it would also be a few more kisses.”

You answer, smiling before going in for another.

“I like the sound of that.”
