My human. Wrote a book. About me! (Well, Bearded Dragons in general, but I'm the main character!) She put a lot of work into it over the past three years, so if you're interested in Beardies, please consider checking out 'A Link Between Us: Life With A Bearded Dragon,' available now!
(Full summary and extra Link pictures from over the years below the cut.)
Summary:
With a reputation as being sweet, mild-natured lizards, Bearded Dragons are a widespread exotic pet. However, the reality of living with and caring for one of these reptiles doesn't always match up with the ideal sold by pet stores. In 'A Link Between Us,' the author brings readers into the world of Beardie careship through a combination of scientific research and personal stories about her dragon, Link.
After all, all stories need a main character, and Link is the perfect Beardie for the job.
Thinking about how i tuck my bearded dragon in with the care of a newborn child every night.
Her routine is as follows:
Small snack
A few more minutes of run around time in my room
By this time she is either at my bed trying to tuck herself in (she slept on my bed large bed with me when i first got her a few months ago) or she is nuzzling into me to cuddle
I hold her in my palm while speaking admirations and petting her head (sometimes she moves her head so i can get both sides properly)
I put her into my shirt against my collarbone where she knows it’s safe, dark, and warm
Then I heat up her warmie (stuffed bear filled with lavender rice)
After i do some writing and the warmie has cooled slightly, i set it next to my bed and create a mini cave over the bear with her favorite pink fleece blanket that I’ve so tenderly removed the tassels from so she doesn’t try to eat them (tassels are why i GOT the blanket to begin with/it astounds me the things we do for love)
Lastly i gingerly remove her from my shirt and place her inside her blanket cave on the teddy bear, where she snuggles into the bear with her lil eyes closed and melts my heart even more
I then softly pet her head a few more times before giving her a slow forehead kiss, and covering her almost all the way with the rest of the blanket

Each morning i can tell how long she’s been awake by how far her body is poking out from her cave. She never leaves it until i wake up to greet her and do our morning routine. So i get to wake up to her staring at me each day 😭
If i ever have to have anyone beardiesit, they’ll have an entire itinerary fs 🤷🏼♀️
would anyone be interested in giving feedback on a bearded dragon food chart, for readability and accuracy?
This is meant to be a broad overview including a lot of the most common foods, but let me know if you think anything is missing or should be on here. This is the source I used. each section would include a brief explanation but a clarifying note at the top that this is just a broad overview and there are many sites with in depth food guides, etc etc
"staple" foods: fed most frequently, typically high in Calcium (Ca) and low in Phosphorus (P)
"sometimes" foods: fed for variety and/or as treats, but are not as nutritious and should be fed combined with staples
"toxic foods" some common human foods that are harmful to animals, do not feed these to beardies
in case you're wondering about the project, im making a short pamphlet-style overview touching on bearded dragon care, and this would be one panel. it is not meant to be a full care guide and multiple resources will be linked/included in the final document.
on the adjacent page is this:
which is about as much of a food guide as im willing to give, just a little explainer mentioning babies eat more bugs and adults eat more leaves.
The bulb burned out for indicas heat lamp🦎 its coming tmwr.. so I improvised and put some grow lights up for the time being lol. So she can get some light on this dreary day🌧
I'm bored so you all are going to learn about another one of my reptiles
This is Kilgharrah, she is mean
But tbh I don't blame her because she was underweight when I got her, and on calcium sand. She also is afraid of the sky, like more than a regular amount, so she cannot be near windows or she freaks out.
Here she is looking a lot like her namesake. She's lost a bit of weight since then but she is getting old. She is at least 8 but possibly older and I don't know her hatch year.
This is a more recent photo though, having a real good time basking. I'm gonna mess with her diet a bit after I move and see if I can get her weight back up again.
One of the most rewarding moments with her though was when I came home to find that she had laid a clutch of infertile eggs! After being in not the best shape when I got her, see that happen not once, but twice! was super awesome as it is a sign of a healthy beardie :3
She doesn't like people, but hey, she hates me slightly less than everyone else so I take that as a win.
