i was so excited (well kind of excited) for the hijack series but oh my god it's bad. and i havent even gotten to the good part yet! the first ep alone has so many plot holes (spoiler warning) from the behavior of the crew to the pilot opening the cockpit door just because they're pointing a gun at his fuckbuddy to the fact that he is able to CHANGE HIS MIND about the emergency on board talking to atc like "yeah never mind it's all good now" LIKE YOU HAVE TO LAUGH
#i get that fictional stories involving planes have to take certain liberties#because aviation is so highly controlled#but that is exactly the point#everybody knows that there are procedures and check lists for every little thing#it's completely ridiculous to expect your audience to believe that a pilot 22 years post 9/11 would simply open the cockpit door for the#hijackers (after knocking his first officer out with a fire extinguisher no less)#this guy SEES A MAN WITH A GUN outside his cockpit and rather than squawking 7500 or using that code when talking to atc#he's like um... possible security incident on board#i dont care if some screenwriter somewhere doesnt give two shits about aviation protocols#one single google search along the lines of#what pilot do when hijacker#and this could have gone somewhere#and ANOTHER THING#the real time narrative#😐#these people made a seven hour long miniseries about a seven hour flight from dubai to london because#well thats the question isnt it? i sure as hell dont know#because they could i guess 😶 anyway point is#narrative focus aint just a river in egypt#the discrepancy between story time and discourse time exists because some things will always be omitted or summarized BECAUSE NOT ALL OF IT#IS INTERESTING#if you want to tell your story in real time you better have a reason for it#who the fuck looked at a seven hour flight (argaubly one of the worst experiences a person can subject themselves to) and thought#oh my god i wish i could watch this on tv#granted there's a bit more going on with the plane getting hijacked and all#but the pacing is already becoming an issue#and again: I AM ONLY ON EPISODE ONE#anyway im determined to finish this show#im still hopeful that it could improve (as i said: i havent even gotten to the good part yet. this is a show about idris elba negotiating)#and even if it doesnt at least ill be able to shit on it properly lmao

Welcome Captain Anderson and First Officer Connor!
About a week and a half ago I came up with dbh civil aviation au, as I absolutely love jetliners. So I decided to combine both of my interests! :D
More details about the setting are under the cut!
In the 2020s, a new aerospace corporation emerged - “Cyberair”. Originally starting from light jet construction, but later in the 30s they introduced narrow-body aircraft to the production line, as the result of rapid growth and market expansion. However, throughout the years their idea remained the same: “Reliable and comprehensive automation”. Cyberair jets are everything, beyond what a modern aircraft can offer, and is capable of. Truly a creation of the 21st century.
The latest Cyberair venture – state of the art autopilot. Identical to humans in its appearance, yet so different in behaviour. It’s efficient, reliable and doesn’t make mistakes (almost. At least human ones). But to tell the truth, this development is expected – ever since the late 20s Cyberair started to slowly announce machine cabin crew, even gifting a unique RK200 air traffic controller model to the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
Delta Air Lines received their own one-of-a-kind autopilot, a RK800 (FAA approved!) model. How? Well, something about the Cyberair CEO liking their service. After a few papers signed and a few hands shaken, Connor embarks on his first real flight as a First Officer.
No plane flies without a captain though, so Connor has company. And a superior. Even if machines are better than people in piloting the plane in almost every way, human ego and fear, maybe, can’t let them be in absolute control. “Uncanny valley” or something.
Captain Anderson is a highly experienced senior pilot at Delta. Most of his career he has been flying Airbus aircraft, piloting A350-900 in the later years. Although because of Connor working with him now he has to pilot Cyberair regional or light jets from time to time. Oh, those signed papers be damned… He misses his dear A350.
Their relationship had a rough start, with the captain calling Connor “an attempt of capitalism at stealing my job”. But Hank couldn’t help but warm up to the FO the more flight hours passed. There was something so… alive about him? No, in aviation you only trust your instrument panel, and here all of the facts loudly state that Connor is simply a RK800. This is definitely some Eliza effect shit.
Why is he so interested in the A380 then? Doesn’t he have all of the aeroplane data neatly stored in his head? What surprises Hank more is something akin to confusion on Connor’s face every time he gets overly excited about the giant of the skies. Maybe he’s surprised by his new-found interest, too. At least there’s something Hank can tell him about from the old days (ah, proud A380 pilot) during long transatlantic flights.
Fucking Eliza effect bullshit.
P.S. if you want to leave an ask about this au, please do! I get asks so rarely so I’m excited hahah. But you can ask literally anything else, too lol

WIP Wednesday
Anyone remembers this?? Well, I finally started writing it, and wanted to give you a little taste of it
“Well, if it isn’t Bagman.”
After having his conversation with Admiral Simpson about being considered for this upcoming special detachment — which is an odd thing considering he is an instructor on base, but couldn’t argue against the whole “you’re the only naval aviator on active duty with a confirmed air-to-air kill, of course you’re being considered” — he had gone to pick up his kids from the daycare and, after a quick stop by their home, he drove them to the beach to decompress from the sudden sense of dread that had filled his every cell of his body when he left Cyclone’s office.
He hadn’t expected to run into someone he knew.
“Phoenix,” he says in greeting, not looking away from where his twins are playing on the sand a few feet in front of him.
“You know, it’s considered creepy to watch children,” she teases in good nature.
“And here I was, thinking it was considered good parenting to pay attention to your kids.” He teases back, and this time he does turn to look at her so he can catch her processing that tidbit of information.
“They are yours?” The incredulity in her tone is enough for Jake to be honest.
“Yeah.” He admits.
“So where’s their mother?” Nat looks around, trying to find a woman that could be the mother of his children — Jake knows she’s not gonna find anyone.
“Don’t you mean the other father of my children?”
“Other fa—” she cuts herself, understanding finally dawns on her. “You’re a carrier?”
“Yeah.” He’s confused. Isn’t she friends with Bradshaw?
“No shit.”
“Why are you acting all shocked? Like you didn’t know this already.”
“Because I didn’t. Was it meant to be public knowledge?”
“No, but, like, you know about me and Bradley, you know, back in the day.”
“Yeah, of course I know about that, Bradley told me everything about it.” Nat frowns, even more confused now. “Are you sure Rooster knows?”
“I mean, how can he not? The guys literally saw me taking my birth control pills.”
“You’re thinking too highly of his intelligence.” Jake gives her a flat look. “Unless it’s about naval aviation, Bradshaw is incapable of understanding anything else.”
“Yeah, there’s not a lot going on behind those cow eyes,” he concedes.
Nat hums in response, and Jake is not sure if she’s agreeing with him or not. He turns to look back at his kids when he hears her letting out the most dramatic gasp he’s ever heard outside of a sitcom. Jake looks at her again and sees the wild look on her face.
“They are not Rooster’s, are they?”
Jake refrains from laughing at her, thank you very much.
“Not unless he’s fluent in Italian.”
“International, nice.” She sits down next to him on the sand. “Is he in your life?”
Jake shakes his head no. “It was a one night stand, and by the time I found out I was carrying them I was back in the States and five months into it.”
“So you’ve been raising them by yourself?”
“Yeah, but I have a lot of support too, so I can’t really complain.”
“That’s good.” She looks at the kids now chasing each other, running around the mount of sand that they created. Nat thinks it was their attempt to make sand castles. “They say it takes a village.”
“Maybe, but the village has to be willing to help and I’m thankful I have people that want to help me.”
“Coyote?” She guesses, remembering how close they used to be back in their Academy days and then when the three of them were stationed on the same carrier for six months.
“And his family and my own.” Jake looks at her profile before he turns to look at his kids again. “Wanna meet them?”
“Can I?”
“If you can bite your tongue and not say anything bad about me, then yeah, of course you can.” He nudges her slightly, in order to convey that he’s saying that in good nature.
“You run a hard bargain but deal.” She teases back easily too. “What are their names?”
Jake stands up and offers her a hand too as he informs her of their names, “ Tommy and Annie.”
They spend the rest of the afternoon talking and playing with the twins, and Jake can tell that his babies have charmed their way into Phoenix’s heart with their happy laughs and consistent babbler, and calling her auntie Nat.

Ask game:
Janeway, Kira, Julian, Tom (if you want to)
(ask game in question)
Thank you for the ask, anon! I love these characters.
Janeway
Stan Account: Amelia Earhart. She mostly posts text heavy + very intellectual posts about her impact on women in aviation, but honestly the more intellectual the posy, the hornier the undertones. Janeway has shared it with Tuvok (he beta reads her posts) but she tries to keep it secret from everyone else. Everyone is onto her. Tom found it first and showed it to Harry who showed it to B'elanna and it spiraled from there. Janeway hasn't realized this.
Convenience Store Purchase: Coffee without a cap. Also chocolate covered espresso beans. (This one was hard to figure out for her, not sure why)
Kink: Sex on the captain's chair for sure. Also smart people who argue with her turn her on. I also think she'd be into something like orgasm denial. Also being called Kathryn because she rarely gets to be called Kathryn in the Delta Quadrant cause ya know... it's lonely at the top. I also think that while she enjoys dominating, she also likes giving up her control cause she never gets that chance otherwise.
Kira
Stan Account: The prophets. Unfortunately she posts those terrible Christian mom bible verses over highly-pixelated "aesthetic" photos....
But also she runs a stan account for GIRLI (This is because I've decided Kira would like her music + her music reminds me of Kira) She starts it while she's still not out to herself, so there are so many photosets she posts of her being like "wow! I want to be her!" and Jadzia takes one look at the account and is like..... hey girl... i have some news for you....
Convenience Store Purchase: Beef jerky.
Kink: Honestly romance and setting the mode. You know that cheesy romance movie "trail of rose petals leading to bed" stuff? Yeah that would work on her methinks. Also biting.
Julian
Stan Account: Himself. He runs a stan account for himself. He claims it's not him running it, it's just "someone who appreciates his work" but no one believes him. He routinely makes burner accounts to send his "fan blog" hate for attention. I also believe he used to run a stan blog for some musician but then it got "too mainstream".
Convenience Store Purchase: Celebrity gossip magazine + those iced starbucks frappichinos
Kink: Unfortunately it's being called kitten. (also voyeurism)
Tom
Stan Account: He runs a 20th century car stand blog. He gets in the most HORRIBLE drama with other 20th century car bloggers. He gets so upset and is constantly telling Harry about it. Harry wants to delete his social media. Also he runs a Tom Petty blog. He likes to post "cool" photos of 20th century cars with Tom Petty lyrics.
Convenience Store Purchase: Dill pickle lays, hotdog, slurpee, beef jerkey, bubble gum. He has no self-control.
Kink: Dying in Harry's arms. (also daddy + degradation)

JAG fanfiction vs. Simsfic...
There is a distinct difference between my Simsfics (illustrated by pics) and my JAGfic (which are not) - and the writing is more detailed because what I can do with my mind in writing is much more comprehensive than what I could accomplish in the Sims. I would love to put my "love of JAG" into Sims form - illustrating my JAG fic, but unfortunately that would require a highly skilled ability to mesh and create poses that I don't have.
Tumblr media
Can you imagine trying to mesh this scene of eight Tomcats parked on the tarmac (make note, I'm not satisfied with just eight Tomcats, each has to be different numbers on the nose and tails of each aircraft as well as incredibly detailed markings for up close shots)? Just for a scene where two naval aviators are walking down the line-up? I just can't do it with the non-skills that I have in Blender. I don't even know how to mesh a box let alone a highly detailed aircraft. And then I'd have to learn to create poses in order to show highly detailed military courtesies, such as salutes (not in parade formation) and aircrew discussing details before mounting the aircraft or walkarounds of the aircraft. Even if I had the skills, each chapter of my Sims JAG fics would take a full year to complete.
...and I don't have that many years left in me to go all out like this. (I'm 53).
So I content myself with writing big blocks of text such as this:
*************************************
Meg was promoted to Vice-Admiral in 2017 and took over as JAG and a potential CNO slot would be opening up in 2018 as his career wound up in 2020 unless the situation in the Baltics heated up again which it looked as though it might.
And this was the year that the damned ISIS group carried out a lot of attacks.
Middle of June and it was hot; yet the damned Naval Review Board had required blues. Meg looked over at her husband of twenty one years as he commented. "We've been through a lot, haven't we?" Luckily she had a spare summer whites uniform in her office. She also kept one of her husband's service whites uniforms in there as well.
"Yeah, we have..." Meg said quietly as she glanced at her beloved. He had streaks of white in his sixty year old hair. "Maybe we should change over into our service whites because these damned blues are way too hot for this weather." Animal nodded. As they quickly changed over Meg got a call on her phone. "Crap." She swore as she picked up. "Vice-Admiral Austin-Nakamura!" She paused, her eyes widened, "Are you kidding, sir? ISIS operatives detonated a bomb. Where. Islamabad? A vacuum bomb like our MOABs? Oh, my God. 15,000 casualties? Yes, sir, we'll be there." She hung up the phone turned to Animal as they finished changing and informed him, her voice tense."They want us both back at the Pentagon. The vacuum bomb; a fuel-air mixture bomb could be just about as powerful as detonating a tactical nuclear device. They're gaining in technology and dangerousness."
Isis had taken to politics in several different countries, Arabic speaking countries such as Turkey, Syria, Yemen, UAE, Libya, Morocco and Kuwait had managed to gain political control only now ISIS was no longer calling themselves ISIS. They were calling themselves the Arab Reunification Party - ARP. Their goal was to reunite the Arab world under the fundamentalist tenets of the Quran but in order to make their policies appealing they were moderating their message and that was dangerous because if they were more appealing to the masses, more Arab countries would fall under their sway and more would be swayed to radicalism and thus would start a full-scale war with the West once they got a hold of military weapons like fighter jets, naval ships and tanks. It would play into their dreams of glorious jihad.
Plus the fact that if they had the backing of Iran and Iraq they would end up on the road to weapons of mass destruction. Lord help the rest of the world if they got their hands on missile technology and the key to nuclear weapons technology. A key player in this would be Pakistan who had already achieved nuclear weapons as they were sitting right next door to the India who also had nuclear weapons and they were Muslim. In fact. Bin Laden had been eliminated in Pakistan so Pakistan was not in good odor with the United States. They were on a good behavior watch-list and were kept on a short leash before even thinking of supplying them with Western weapons.
Animal noted that his uniform was crisply maintained, by his wife and the Medal of Honor ribbon was always a nice crisp sky blue with five white stars and it hung with his wife's spare uniforms in her office clothes closet. The ribbons on some of his other uniforms were kind of a faded sky blue and he was certain that certain runs of that ribbon fabric were varied in color. Meg however managed to track down stores and get a few of the vivid sky blue ribbons for his dress uniforms and for the uniforms that she designated for use when he had to go to the Pentagon or during public appearances. Thanks to his wife's resourcefulness, Animal always looked presentable, considering his and her busy schedule. The fact that his beloved Meg took time out of her busy schedule to make sure he was kept in good uniforms made him love her more than he could already.
1930 ZULU; PENTAGON, E-RING, OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY, WASHINGTON, DC
The couple hurried through the Pentagon corridors, resplendent in their white service uniform, heading towards the SECNAV's office. The SECNAV was a four year politically appointed post so Republican Senator from the great state of Texas and former RADM Mike Metcalf, USN (ret.) callsign Viper.
The former Rear Admiral (upper half) nodded to Animal. "Good afternoon, Admiral, good to see you, Animal." RADM Mike Metcalf was Animal's Battlegroup Commander on his last cruise in 1996. RDML Mike Metcalf had coordinated the overseeing flights over the Bosnian regions and kept the battlegroup in the area when the Bosnians started firing on each other. The Black Aces couldn't shoot back unless they were fired upon but of course the then-Rear Admiral (lower half) had planned a deceptive enticement. Animal would run a TARPS mission at 7,000 AGL. through the Carpathian Mountains. And the Serbs had bit the bullet, they'd fired on Animal's TARPS bird and it was all-out war. His usual back-seater hadn't been trained on TARPS so he'd had to fly with Wrench who was qualified and Wrench managed to get clear crisp shots as Animal was jinking away from the Triple-A. Then they'd hit it with GBU-86s along with targeting the sites with LANTIRN on a following mission inside of five hours. Triangulated with a satellite image of the area, they could tell if there had been movement by the Triple-A platforms and hit the new location with ease.
"It's good to see you too, sir." Animal said acknowledging Sen. Metcalf's obvious position as Secretary of the Navy; an obvious appointment as he like Sen. John Lehman was a former Naval Officer and Naval Aviator instead of being completely oblivious as most civilian appointments were.
"Admiral, as you know, we have a very tenuous situation. Islamabad was hit with a vacuum bomb." The SECNAV indicated as he showed them a map on the projector. "This section along Abeyd-Asam Street and Khalid Wali Avenue. There was an explosion as the fuel-air bomb went off. There's structures flattened three-quarters of a mile wide and the casualties at last count were thirty-five thousand people and the number is rising. The scary part of it is that it is a weapon of mass destruction that these terrorists can cook up in their own back yard labs. Set off a few in the different neighborhoods across the city and there would be casualties in the hundreds of thousands. If you can't breathe because all the air has been sucked into a flammable mixture; you're dead. If you get injured by the blast wave, you're dead. It's a terror weapon."
"It's the same as the MOABs we drop out of our planes, only they put theirs on wheels and drive it into place incognito if that's what you're telling me they did."
"That's exactly what they did, Admiral Nakamura." Animal looked up to see a gray-haired man step in to the room; aquiline nose, and hard steel-blue eyes and a sharp angular jawline complemented his features.
"Gibbs, you ever think about retiring?"
"Not really." was his curt reply.
Meg saw her husband stiffen up in the presence of the senior NCIS agent. His friend and her former JAG investigative partner, Harmon Rabb, had nearly gotten railroaded into a murder charge by this very man. They had accused him of the murder of a JAG Lieutenant by the name of Lieutenant Loren Singer. Harm's first-degree murder charge but all was certain until Gibbs had an inkling that something wasn't right about the whole pattern of evidence they'd found up to that point and told the whole crew to look it over one more time. Animal still was wary of the NCIS senior special agent and thus both the NCIS agent and Animal were pretty frosty with each other - neither was sure about the other. Two alpha males circling each other each looking for a weak point they could utilize on the other.
"All the animosity between the Russians and us may end up having to be tabled..." NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs said, "the Russians just found out that the sub that launched a nuclear torpedo against our battle-group that failed to detonate, had a couple other crew on board. The bodies recovered showed three men of middle Eastern origin who weren't supposed to be there and and several Azerbaijani crew members who had somehow enlisted in the Russian Navy incognito. The Politburo didn't sanction this attack on Second Fleet and are backpedaling."
Meg narrowed her eyes,"So what does that have to do with the Judge Advocate General command, Gibbs?"
"JAG has always been a big help in the past with this sort of investigation. Vice-Admiral. Don't know if your predecessor told you but they've been quite helpful in ensuring we have cooperation. "
"Well the lead investigator on all those situations is flying F/A-18Fs off the deck of the USS Allegiance, Gibbs, under my chain of command as the COMSECONDFLEET." Animal set his jaw in a gritted, unpleased expression. "He's the XO of the boat and technically should be chained to a chair, but you ever try to tell Rabb to do something?"
SECNAV Metcalf snorted, "I heard about his exploits from Nelson and Sheffield. I hear he's a handful; much like Captain Mitchell. Maverick was a handful when I was CO at Topgun. Set the hard deck at Angels 10. Guy technically digs a hole going after Lieutenant Commander Hetherly. Guy was a cowboy. I hear he still flies hard but has tempered his style. He should have had four stars by now but I hear he got tagged with up or out. So he's just riding a chair at NSAWC serving out his time in uniform because NSAWC doesn't want to drop an asset like him. He can teach others and be mentoring other instructors."
"That's the way it should be done. The guys who have the balls to do what needs to be done technically should be the ones leading." Animal growled, "The rules may be the rules, but sometimes, the situation goes beyond the limits of the rules. Then you need the guys willing to break the rules to get the job done."
Animal looked over at the SECNAV and at Gibbs, "The ones that will still stay within the Geneva Convention of Rules of Warfare that is. I don't want Rabb being boots on the ground..." He said with some finality, "...when the damned Russians finally figure out which fucking country sent them on this stupid expedition of insanity. He's staying where I'm telling him to stay. Go find Mackenzie and Webb! Let them go down. Conmand Master Chief Yeoman Coates will probably be able to help me in that. She generally keeps track of who she served with, so, Gibbs, whatever happened to Gunnery Sergeant Galindez. I knew he worked a few field operations with you guys?"
"Went back to the Corps, after his in-country squeeze got blown away by Kabir, to become a Master Gunnery Sergeant. Admiral. He just didn't want to be boots-on-the-ground afterwards."
SECNAV said, "Admiral, the current CNO plans to vacate and we've just gone to the UN to form an Allied Command that will bring together every one to act against the ARP in the different countries affected. With this explosion, we've seen what they intend to do. The British have already reinstated their Fleet Admiral position from WWII. I think their aim is to gain control of the Allied Command. We suggested the idea to the UN Security Commission. I'd say we take control rather than the British; the President had asked me to find someone capable enough to take over full Allied Supreme Commander position and he's going to get the Secretary of Foreign Affairs to insist that we get control since we came up with the idea. This position has never been in use since WWII and neither has the rank. You'll be the first to wear it since Chester Nimitz and you are going to be Supreme Allied Commander for the Joint Task Force that will take the war to the enemy."
At this Meg's jaw dropped open as she looked at her husband.
"I presume that the Supreme Allied Commander is responsible for the Allied push against the Arab Reunification Party?" Her husband asked as he looked over at the SECNAV who had dropped this shocking bit of news.
The out-going Chief of Naval Operations Joanne Pruette stepped into the room, "Afternoon." She looked over at Animal, "Thanks for coming,"
"Well I wasn't expecting this."
"Ordinarily the President would in his role of administering his duties as Commander in Chief, however with the outbreak of hostilities between the Russians and us, understandably he's tied up." CNO Pruette said. "I couldn't think of a better officer to fill my shoes than you, Admiral Nakamura." She then turned to Meg, "Ordinarily, I'd be hesitant to put a JAG who is married to such on the command staff of the Supreme Allied Commander as it goes against the UCMJ, but you are aware that these are strange times and as such we need the most capable officers and matrimonial status no longer matters. We are fighting against an enemy that does not care about anyone other than furthering their own twisted idea of what family and relationships should be... Admiral Toshio Nakamura;" the CNO stated, "under the authorization conveyed upon me by the President of the United States to invoke his power as Commander-in-Chief under Congressional mandate, I am here to administer the oath of office. Step forward; Front and Center." Animal snapped to attention and marched over to Admiral Pruette; stopping in front of her. When he came to attention in front of her, she said, "Attention to Orders; raise your right hand. I..."
"I, Toshio Masahiro Nakamura, do solemnly swear that I will protect and defend the Consitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic; that I bear true allegiance to the same, that I will truly, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, faithfully execute the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me, God." Meg noticed that his voice was firm, proud and she knew for a fact that he was staunchly loyal as an American citizen and a loyal officer in the Navy of the United States of America.
"Congratulations, Fleet Admiral Nakamura. You are the first to wear this rank since Chester Nimitz and since the office of the Chief of Naval Operations has gone to the most senior and high ranking officer in the United States Navy, I stand ready to be relieved, sir."
"I relieve you, Ma'am." Animal said, then leaned forward and whispered in her ear, "Isn't it great? No more meetings with angry senators about budget overruns? Aren't you relieved?" He gave Admiral Pruette a wicked grin as he snapped back to attention as Admiral Pruette burst out laughing as SECNAV Metcalf looked over at the former CNO with raised inquisitive eyebrows expecting an explanation. He chuckled wryly when he got told what Animal had whispered in her ear.
Animal been handed a pair of Fleet Admiral Boards. He could order them directly from the Uniform Supplier as he was currently the only five-star fleet admiral in the US Navy. Meg and the SECNAV slipped off his Admiral's boards and put the Fleet Admiral's boards on. The five silver stars formed a pentagonal shape with the top-most point of the pentagon being the point of the fifth star. Each five-pointed star was linked to each other by one arm of another five-pointed star. The top most head of the apex five-pointed star ended up pointing towards the neck of the wearer of the shoulder-boards.
"Fleet Admiral Nakamura..." Admiral Pruette said to him when the boards were placed on his shoulders, "I believe two minutes allowed for a PDA."
Animal grinned at her then turned to Meg whose eyes were brimming with pride for him. He extended his arms and Vice-Admiral Megan Renee Austin-Nakamura, her own golden shoulder-boards with three stars, stepped into his embrace, with her lips meeting his in a tender kiss.
"Congratulations, my love." She whispered.

Just this "large block of text" requires the use of multiple uniforms, poses and other things to illustrate it in Sims 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have the uniforms set up, unfortunately, I need to get them off my hard-drive (of my old laptop)...or remake them (which is going to be a royal pain-in-the-ass). Because Adobe locked me out of my Photoshop Elements 14 which I paid for. They won't allow me to enter in my code to unlock it and customer service (all in India) are no help at all.
So frustrations aplenty.

Skunk Works Director Ben Rich recalls when CIA financed the A-12 Oxcart with secret funds and back-door payments to Lockheed with personal checks to Kelly Johnson for more than $1 million
Ben Rich recalls when CIA financed the A-12 Oxcart with secret funds and back-door payments to Lockheed with personal checks to Kelly Johnson for more than $1 million
‘Everything about the A-12 Oxcart program was dark alley, cloak and dagger. Even the way they financed the operation was highly unconventional,’ Ben Rich, second Director of Lockheed’s Skunk Works.
SR-71 T-Shirts
CLICK HERE to see The Aviation Geek Club contributor Linda Sheffield’s T-shirt designs! Linda has a personal relationship with the SR-71 because her father Butch Sheffield flew the Blackbird from test flight in 1965 until 1973. Butch’s Granddaughter’s Lisa Burroughs and Susan Miller are graphic designers. They designed most of the merchandise that is for sale on Threadless. A percentage of the profits go to Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. This nonprofit charity is personal to the Sheffield family because they are raising money to house SR-71, #955. This was the first Blackbird that Butch Sheffield flew on Oct. 4, 1965.
CIA developed the highly secret A-12 Oxcart as the U-2 spy plane’s successor, intended to meet the nation’s need for a very fast, very high-flying reconnaissance aircraft that could avoid Soviet air defenses.
CIA awarded the Oxcart contract to Lockheed (builder of the U-2) in 1959.
In meeting the A-12’s extreme speed and altitude requirements, Lockheed–led by legendary engineer Clarence “Kelly” Johnson–overcame numerous technical challenges with cutting-edge innovations in titanium fabrication, lubricants, jet engines, fuel, navigation, flight control, electronic countermeasures, radar stealthiness, and pilot life-support systems.
In 1965, after hundreds of hours flown at high personal risk by the elite team of CIA and Lockheed test pilots, the A-12 was declared fully operational, attaining the design specifications of a sustained speed of Mach 3.2 at 90,000 feet altitude.

Ben Rich (left) and Kelly Johnson (right)
Ben Rich (the second Director of Lockheed’s Skunk Works from 1975 to 1991, succeeding its founder, Kelly Johnson) recalls an interesting fact on how the CIA financed the A-12 Oxcart program in his book “Skunk Works: A Personal Memoir of My Years of Lockheed:”
‘Everything about this project was dark alley, cloak and dagger. Even the way they financed the operation was highly unconventional: using secret contingency funds, they back-doored payment to Lockheed by writing personal checks to Kelly [Johnson*] for more than a million bucks as start-up costs. The checks arrived by regular mail at his Encino home, which had to be the wildest government payout in history. Johnson could have absconded with the dough and taken off on a one-way ticket to Tahiti. He banked the funds through a phony company called “C & J Engineering,” the “C & J” standing for Clarence Johnson. Even our drawings bore the logo “C & J”—the word “Lockheed” never appeared. We used a mail drop out at Sunland, a remote locale in the San Fernando Valley, for suppliers to send us parts. The local postmaster got curious about all the crates and boxes piling up in his bins and looked up “C & J” in the phone book and, of course, found nothing. So, he decided to have one of his inspectors follow our unmarked van as it traveled back to Burbank. Our security people nabbed him just outside the plant and had him signing national security secrecy forms until he pleaded writer’s cramp.”

*According to Kelly Johnson book Kelly: More Than My Share of It All, he became known as ‘Kelly’ Johnson (his full name being Clarence Leonard Johnson) because while attending grade school in Michigan, he was ridiculed for his name, Clarence. Some boys started calling him “Clara”. One morning while waiting in line to get into a classroom, one boy started with the normal routine of calling him “Clara”. Johnson tripped him so hard the boy broke a leg. The boys then decided that he was not a “Clara” after all, and started calling him “Kelly”. The nickname came from the popular song at the time, “Has Anyone Here Seen Kelly? (Kelly from the Emerald Isle)”. Henceforth, he was always known as “Kelly” Johnson.

The murder of O’Shae Sibley
O’Shae Sibley was a well-known dancer and choreographer in New York. Last week, he was vogueing in a parking lot in Brooklyn. O’Shae was approached by a group of young men. They hurled racial and anti-gay slurs at O’Shae before a high-school teenage member of the gang fatally stabbed O’Shae. The teenager has been charged with a hate crime. See NYTimes, Mourners Pay Tribute to O’Shae Sibley at the Scene of His Murder.
While we should not jump to conclusions, it appears that O’Shae was murdered because he was a gay man dancing in public. If true, such a crime is the inevitable result of the drumbeat of anti-LGBTQ propaganda coming from MAGA extremists and politicians, most notably Ron DeSantis. Yet another reason that we must speak out against every anti-LGBTQ piece of legislation and propaganda issued by MAGA extremists.
As the Times article above notes, mourners have begun to gather near the gas station where O’Shae was murdered. Reader (and friend) Jonathan Atkin is one of the nation’s leading aerial drone photographers. He took the photo below last Friday and granted me permission to publish it. (It is copyrighted, so please respect Jonathan’s intellectual property.)
The photo is evocative for reasons I cannot fully explain. It is oblique but converges to a point. It communicates the power of the crowd from a distance. (As noted in the Postscript below, the distance is a sign of respect for the mourners.) But most importantly, it illustrates the outpouring of grief, support, and anger provoked by the killing of O’Shae Sibley—whose name deserves to be said and remembered.
Thanks, Jonathan, for sharing your photo.
+
Jonathan Atkin took the photo of the O’Shae Sibley mourners using an aerial drone. Drone photography is highly regulated and should not be attempted by amateurs, especially near crowds. Jonathan describes his precautions as follows:
Drone flight completed with the following safety protocols:
a.) FAA "B4UFLY" checked and indicated airspace was "free to fly.” (A convenient sliver of airspace in busy NYC.)
b.) Google maps showing Coney Island Ave & P Street were consulted the night before, showing no aerial obstructions.
c.) Wind aloft: minimal. Flew Under 150 feet altitude.
d.) Notified NYPD Aviation as per my recognized practice with a "Situational Awareness Notice," similar to each notice I send for over 26 years producing aerial photographs of large ships, with crewed helicopters in the Port of NY/NJ).
e.) Flew at the site with a "V.O" (visual observer for safety)
f.) Utilized a powerful but small drone with a telephoto lens, providing an oblique angle to ensure I would be distant and not overhead of the gathered crowd.
g.) Chose my launch site behind a barricade in a protected spot. Drone prepped in advance with fully charged batteries on both drone and Remote Controller, to fly as minimally as possible to get the iconic image.
h.) Flew about 8 minutes; understanding drone usage might invoke negativity or provoke concern as drones often do particularly where emotions are high.
i.) Wore a highly visible red windbreaker to be transparent.
j.) The NYPD 66th Precinct was considerate and helpful.

Slightly odd question but I cant get a definitive answer elsewhere.
What g-force would turn a person into much by literally pulling their tendons and ligaments and cells apart
This is for something I'm to write. Which makes it worse somehow.
well, keep in mind that g-forces are units of gravitational acceleration, as i'm sure you know. i can speak on this really only from the perspective of aviation. a general rule of thumb for the aviator is that g-force is measured as the force of gravity at sea level. this is 9.80665 m/s2 even though aircraft are often flying much higher.
most normal, untrained humans can withstand 2-4 or 2-5 Gs for some time, though not for periods longer than, say, 24 hours on the lower end of that scale. 6 Gs is considered fatal when sustained for too long. fighter pilots only get away with 9-10 g during maneuvering because of training, modern equipment, and the fact that the acceleration should only last for a couple seconds at most. they have special breathing patterns, a lot of fine muscle control, and in modern day are supposed to wear full-body g-suits. we see sometimes that pilots or passengers in aerobatics experience "g-loc" or a temporary loss of consciousness as blood rushes from critical parts of the body when undergoing extreme g-forces.
we have examples of humans surviving g-forces far higher than 9-10 and surviving, such as us air force pilot john stapp, who experienced 46.2 g's. this man lost dental fillings, cracked bones, broke bones, and yet lived to the ripe age of 89 before dying peacefully. another pilot, eli beeding, walked away from a very brief peak acceleration of 86.2 g's. but we've also seen humans expire at less forces and also more.
i would say the real danger is not necessarily the acceleration itself, but the impact, if there is any. it's about the person's position, their acceleration, the duration of the g's experienced, how much of the body is exposed, how trained is the person, are these negative or positive g's (hint: the human body can withstand more positive than negative g-forces)...like there are so many factors dude. and deceleration is also a factor in some cases. this shit is highly confusing and i am certainly no expert.

10. How do you decide what to write?
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
10. How do you decide what to write?
It's usually the AO3 matching algorithm that chooses for me, given that most of my fics have been for fanwork exchanges! 😌
A less tongue-in-cheek answer: when considering the pairings and tropes I'll offer for an exchange, I’ll usually look for one of the following: - inspiring requests for fandoms I've written recently - open-ended prompts that would fit with something I already wanted to write - old fandoms of mine I would enjoy reviewing (when I have enough time on my plate to do so)
Even when I’m not doing exchanges, most of my other fics have been created for some challenge or request or prompt. I usually just need something to spark an idea, and if the first little bit of fuel is provided by someone else, the creativity process feels a little less lonely.
Conversely, it’s very rare for me to spontaneously write a fic because I felt the desperate need to share a story! I recall only three periods of my life when this has happened: when I first discovered fanfic as a kid (so many weird HP AUs…), when Mass Effect: Andromeda came out and I finished the game in two days in some sort of fugue state (writing near 10k of Rydam fanfic in a week), and … now with the Meresino. Two cakes and all that, but I think there’s a part of me that’s uncomfortable with writing something unless I know it’s not been written before? And I can’t guarantee that unless it’s a very small pairing or very new lol. Much to think about!!
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
I don't really strongly disliked any tropes, but I never really understood the appeal of omegaverse until I read some excellent Ace Attorney ones that dug more into the gender roles and worldbuilding tropes of the genre — after I took that plunge with some trusted authors I was like oh I get it now. It’s still not something I seek out frequently, but I don’t automatically discount it now!
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
I know I’ve told you and others on twitter about this before but Meresino train controller AU. I have a lot of the characters’ respective roles planned out and a few different arcs I think it would be fun to explore.
Meredith is a train controller and Orsino is a signaller, of course. They both think the network would fall apart without them, and they’re right, but they also are yet to truly appreciate just how vital they are to each other’s roles.
Basically, train controllers have more responsibility when it comes to managing liability: making sure the signallers under their direction are given the information needed to do their jobs, and responding to emergency situations. BUT at the end of the day, it’s actually the signaller at the controls, and they need each other, even though they might hate each other times. … There’s a lot of tension, both sexual and otherwise!
(There’s even rumours that in other countries the signaller and train controller roles have been combined but Meredith’s just like ‘sounds fake but okay’)
Anyway, in terms of supporting characters, there’s Hawke, the beleaguered union organiser who used to work in the aviation industry. She’s dating Anders, who is doing a lot of grassroots organising around improving the transport system (and hence doesn't loop Hawke into his plans because he doesn't want to undermine the work she does in the union). Cullen is one of the department's current union delegates and is basically being punted back and forth by management and Hawke like a football. He is very out of his depth but by he is trying his best! Anyway, it's chaotic and everyone is trying so hard but they all have very different definitions of success, and what sacrifices they're willing to make to achieve it. And Kirkwall is a mess, like usual. Some days, the city's rail network is brought down by errant dragons. Some days, it's brought down by a nug nibbling through essential wiring.

Knight in Pearly White
While having a drink with a fellow aviator, some harsh words are said against the Bradshaw Family and Goose defends their honour.
Words: 2671
Takes place in spring 1984
As Zeus went into another fantastical story, Goose took another swig of his drink and made eye contact with Mav, next to him at the table. Neither of them were drunk enough for this, especially Mav who was designated driver for the night.
Why they thought it was a good idea to go for a drink with Zeus they had no idea. They could barely deal with him in training, let alone off base.
He'd gotten his callsign from his ego. Because the god Zeus thought he was the shit when he was actually just an arrogant prick with an ego problem.
They needed to get out of here fast, before the night went completely awry.
"And of course, I think I'll be done here in a few weeks, that's what the instructors say anyway." Zeus took a sip of his drink. "Not long now before I'll be fully qualified and saving lives."
"I highly doubt you're that ready," Mav said. "Just yesterday you lost control of your jet three times, that doesn't scream fully qualified to me."
Zeus grumbled for a moment. His face soured as he took another sip of his drink, "Well, you've got to give the instructors something to do, right?"
Mav side eyed Goose again. This conversation wasn't going well. The atmosphere was turning cold and thick. Goose could sense something was going to go wrong fast, and knowing Mav’s tendencies to act first and think second, he could practically see the fight ensuing.
"Right, you didn't just make a mistake like a normal human being or anything," Goose snided, sipping his drink.
Zeus' head snapped from Mav to Goose. He looked him up and down with a snarl in his lip. The way he seemed to peer down his nose at him didn't sit right.
"What would you know? You're just an RIO," He said. "As far as I'm concerned, you're just a pilot who couldn't cut it."
Mav darted up in his seat. His teeth bared and hands clutching the sticky table with white knuckles. His breath came out in hot pants.
Goose lay a hasty hand on his shoulder, "It's alright, Mav, I can take a hit to my ego."
"Unlike some," he added, shooting a glance at Zeus.
"You need to keep him in check," Zeus said to Goose. "I guess the Mitchell genes are kicking in, acting too fast, embarrassing yourself, letting your side down."
That sent Mav off. He leapt across the table. Goose managed to slide their glasses out of the way just in time for Mav to grab Zeus by the lapels of his white naval uniform.
"You know nothing about my family," he snarled. "And your opinion on RIOs makes me sick."
Zeus laughed at him. His too-shiny teeth glinted under the low purple light of the bar. Mav dropped him as he heaved and panted.
"Come on, Mav, this guy isn't worth it," Goose said.
Mav nodded despite his brow being furrowed. That familiar feral look was in his eyes, the one that precursored many broken noses and bruised knuckles on Mav’s part.
He threw back his drink and marched his way to the door. Goose kept his hand on his shoulder. Sometimes he felt too much like Mav’s keeper. Although, Mav had never had a brother, and perhaps that's what he needed from time to time.
"I guess you do live up to the Mitchell name," Zeus shouted. "You're a coward."
Mav halted in the doorway. His hands clenched and unclenched. Goose could see he was about to snap again by how tense his jaw was.
"Come on, Mav, he’s not worth it," he tried to assure him.
Zeus had other ideas.
"Oh, and here's Goose trying to be the bigger man," he spat with a laugh. "I think you're just a coward, too, you both are."
He took a few deep breaths. This was what people like Zeus did. Their egos needed filling so they picked on others to make themselves feel better.
They didn’t even manage to shuffle toward the door before Zeus spouted more shit. How had this escalated so much?
"Yeah, you're just a coward," Zeus spat. "And I would be too if I had a wife like your's, what's her name? Carole, is it?"
Goose straightened behind Mav. His eyes went blank. He gulped. They didn’t move any closer to the door.
"Yeah, I'd be a coward too if I had that whore for a wife,"
- - - - - -
Goose went tense behind him at Zeus' comment. His hand clenched on Mav's shoulder tighter and tighter. He probably needed to, because they both knew if he didn't then he'd lunge at Zeus, not that Mav would hold him back. He started to heave, his mouth a thin line and a vein almost popping out of his forehead.
"Didn't she get pregnant in college too? Can't believe you married that sl-"
He didn't finish his sentence. Goose stormed over to him before the words left his mouth and clenched him by the lapels of his jacket.
The little man grinned up at him like a shark. He was getting exactly what he wanted. Maybe he wanted to get Goose kicked out, or maybe just wanted to start trouble. Who knew? All they were certain of was that he was sneaky enough to know what buttons to push to rile him up.
"You watch your words, Woods." He growled in the lowest voice Mav had ever heard him utter.
In fact, he’d never seen him like this. Goose never lost his temper. Mav was the hot headed one of the two, the one who edged on the side of being too annoying. Goose reigned him in, ever the patient best friend with sarcastic remarks and begrudging enjoyment when he buzzed the tower.
"And that son of your's, Bradley, he won't get anywhere with a name like that," Zeus spat again, his snake-like grin still spread on his face. "Bradley Bradshaw, you've failed him already with a name like that."
"And even if he had a proper name, with parents as dumb as you, he never had a chance even before he was born."
Goose's face rushed with blood. His knuckles were white as he held Zeus' jacket tighter.
"And Pete Mitchell's your best friend?  That guy is the Navy's biggest mistake,  right there, I don't even know why they let him in after what his dad did."
Goose was shaking now. Shaking with a rage so unlike himself, yet entirely justified. Mav would go in there himself if he wasn't so shocked at how guttural Goose's anger was.
"But yeah, I would be a coward if I was one of the Bradshaw Freaks." Zeus got closer to Goose's face. "Mother Goose who didn't get the memo that he’s a man, and men are meant to be the father, not some weak willed pussy like you, Pete Mitchell, a complete waste of space, Bradley Bradshaw, the toddler with no future, and Carole, who I bet is fucking other guys behind your back-"
Smack. Goose had let go of Zeus' jacket and with a clenched fist, he’d punched him square in the jaw so hard he almost spun where he stood and a tooth flew from his mouth.
"Can't handle the truth?" He tried again.
Goose was having none of it. Crack. Another punch, to his nose this time. Blood splattered out almost in slow motion as the crack rang through the air and Zeus' nose was broken.
He grabbed him from where he was sprawled on the floor. The smile had been wiped from his face. A trickle of blood left his odd shaped nose.
"I told you to watch your words." He seathed.
Zeus gazed at him. His eyes were wide and filled with fear. This wasn't what he’d planned.
"I don't know what your deal is, Woods, I don't know why you choose to spout so much shit, but you do," he said.
"In fact, I might," he added, "maybe you're just lonely. A man like you who needs his ego filling so he talks out of his ass and drives away anyone with even a slither of compassion for him"
"So now you're just a lonely arrogant asswhole with nothing better to do than pick at people because that's all you know how to do."
Goose's taller frame worked to his advantage. As he hissed out his speech, he’d slowly crouched over Zeus, taking up all the space and stretching him backwards over the bar.
"So you can call me a coward, but at least I know that I'm actually good at my job instead of making up shit to cover up the fact that I am the worst aviator the Navy's ever had the unfortunate opportunity to train." he pulled him up toward him, his shirt translucent in the light of the bar. "And I may just be an RIO, someone who 'couldn't make it as a pilot', but I know for damn sure I could fly better than you even though I've never sat in the pilot seat a day in my life because my head isn't so far up my own ass that I don't know how to listen."
Leaning toward him, their noses touched. Goose glared at him like he was dirt, nothing but a cockroach under his shoe.
"So take my family's names out of your dirty, piece of shit mouth, and if you so much as think of them, or give anyone shit again, I swear to god, I will make sure you don't have a tongue to start shit with in the first place."
He let him go and watched him drop to the floor, "Got it?"
Zeus nodded and scampered off through the door to the bar with his tail between his legs. The crowd they didn’t know they'd attracted cheered around them.
Mav took tentative steps toward his friend. His body was heaving. He cradled his fist, rubbing the bruising knuckles as he stared at the floor.
"You okay, buddy?"
"My hand hurts," he breathed. "And I'm tired."
Mav laughed and threw an arm around his shoulders, "I can imagine ripping someone a new one like that would be pretty tiring."
He chuckled for a moment, "That and the adrenaline's wearing off."
The bartender approached them. They dropped their slight smiles and expected the worst.
"If you guys want another drink, they're on the house," he said. "I've been wanting to get rid of that guy for weeks, keeps getting on my customers' nerves for no reason."
Mav looked at how Goose was blinking slowly. A man as slow to anger as he was having an outburst like that would attract fatigue quickly.
"Thanks for the offer but we should be getting home now,"
"Well, you're welcome back anytime," he said as they left to get on Mav’s bike.
Goose slipped on his helmet and hooked his arms around Mav’s waist. His head dropped onto his back as he pulled away.
For once, Mav rode carefully. Goose didn't speak for the entire ride, he half thought he'd fallen asleep on him, but after one rather severe pothole, he jolted awake with a start.
The road around them emptied as they got onto the interstate. Sunset shone and glimmered on the road, reflected off the water settled in puddles from the recent rain. Trees shrouded in shadows looked like monsters creeping toward them. Branches outstretched from the darkness, backlit by the orange sky.
Maverick knew the journey from Kingsville to Corpus Christi like the back of his hand. Carole and Goose had bought their house in Corpus Christi the summer Bradley was born, planning ahead for their flight training and future deployments. Now they were finishing their training off in Kingsville, they were used to the same drive everyday.
They pulled off the main road and watched as their surroundings grew more cluttered. Shops gave way to houses and schools and eventually they pulled up to the Bradshaw home.
He stopped the bike and nudged Goose awake. With a hum, they approached the house, the living room light was on through the blinds and Carole opened the door to greet them.
"We got frozen peas?" Mav asked.
"Yeah, why?" she watched him go inside and turned back to Goose, who had pulled his helmet off. "I expected you back later than this."
He just hummed and sashayed into her arms. It was second nature to him. She ran her fingers along his scalp, pushed him away to kiss his forehead. Her hands caressed his white naval uniform and reached to hold his only to see his bruised knuckles when she went to kiss them.
"What happened?"
She pulled him inside just as Mav came with a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a cloth. He placed it gently onto his knuckles as they sat down on the sofa.
"Zeus was being an asshole, he always is, but tonight he was being extra bitchy, lying about how good of a pilot he was, giving Goose shit for being an RIO and me for being Duke Mitchell’s kid," Mav explained. "But Goose warded me off and we went to leave when he called us cowards and dug into Goose"
"He insulted you, Bradley, me and called the entire Bradshaw family freaks, gave Goose shit for not being manly enough, before Goose punched him twice, knocked a tooth out with one and broke his nose with the other,"
She looked from Goose's hand to his fatigued face, "You punched someone?" She said, astonished.
"Really ripped into him too, called him lonely and arrogant, said he was the worst aviator in the navy, that he could probably fly better than him and never to speak any of us ever again,"
Carole was still stuck on Goose punching someone. She held the frozen peas for him and caressed his cheek with her other hand.
"You punched someone?"
"He called you a whore and a slut, said Bradley wasn't going to get anywhere in life, said Pete was the biggest mistake in the Navy," he met her eyes, despite still blinking hard. "I couldn't let him get away with it."
She blushed and sent Mav to get the first aid kit, "You were being my knight in pearly white, huh?"
He hummed in agreement. The low light of the living room made his face glow. He nuzzled into her hand, eyes closing as all the activity of the week sunk in.
"I think that deserves a reward, because after what you said he called us, called me, I would've found this guy and punched him myself if you didn't," she laughed.
Opening one eye, "Reward?"
"Got your attention now, have I?"
They chuckled as Mav came back. She swapped the frozen peas with ointment and watched him hiss as she applied it to the small cuts in the skin.
"What are you two laughing about?" Mav asked.
"Just discussing what reward he's going to get for defending my honour,"
Mav raised an eyebrow, "Reward?"
Goose, barely awake at this point, hummed and said, "Not right now, though, too tired, just want to go to bed."
"Of course not right now-" she kissed his forehead, "The idea I had in mind for your reward required Mav babysitting Bradley for the night anyway."
Mav whistled at them as Goose rolled his eyes. Carole soon finished up cleaning his hand, ending her first aid with a kiss on each knuckle just to make sure they healed quickly. Goose looked up at her through his eyelashes as she lent closer to kiss him carefully on the lips.
"Now off to bed, you big stud," she whispered. "You look like you need it."
He hummed goodnight and trundled up the stairs. His footsteps got lighter as he stopped outside Bradley's room to kiss him goodnight.
"I've got myself a good one, haven't I?" Carole said, referring to Goose.
"Yeah," Mav replied. "He's one of the best."
I don't think Goose is quick to anger at all. He seems like a 'hands on his hips and a stern look' kind of person but not shouty or anything like that. I guess I could put this back to his dad being snappy with him. He's just more of a person to make a sarcastic joke and roll his eyes, maybe a sigh and a disappointed 'Mav' if you're Maverick. But he's also a family man so I can imagine if you pushed him far enough, like Zeus did, then you'd see his angry Goose side.
Also Zeus is entirely fictional and definitely doesn't realise his nickname is about his ego and not him being too dog.
I may have said that Carole and Goose got a house in dallas but I take that back because I didn't know there were naval air bases in Texas. Also it's only a 40 minute drive between the two air bases Kingsville and Corpus Christi, so I thought it would be nice for Goose and Mav to be able to go home after training that day, just to get some domestic vibes going.
Hope you enjoyed this!

Couldn't help myself so here are some crossover headcanons for our Top Gun doctor babes:
When Caro & Jas meet for the first time, Hangman comments that Jas is a "real" doctor to get under Caro's skin. Both women ream him out so bad he actually apologizes.
The two girls bond over talking shit about the aviators. They have an equal tolerance for bullshit (that is, none whatsoever) and find the other very easy to be around. Phoenix also gets in on this obviously.
In an effort to get them both to relax, the group has plied them with many drinks and have notes on "Four Drink Caro" & "Five Drink Jas" and every other level. Both of the women realize what's happening but free drinks.
Caro sees Jas & Hangman's sexually tense flirtationship and tells Jas to be wary of the game she's playing. When Jas insists it's just some light fun and nothing more, Caro says "That's exactly what I said." and then gives a pointed look to Fanboy trying to teach Dalia pool.
Speaking of Dalia, the little girl is seriously intimidated by Jas. She gives off "Serious Adult" vibes. She's shocked when Jas shows she's a real person and willing to play with her. She doesn't trust it at first which is as hilarious to the others as it is heartbreaking.
When Dalia gets seriously hurt, Jas is the first person Caro calls. (Unfortunately she's on duty and can't pick up.)
First of all, yes to all. Second of all, I have some additional thoughts and headcanons.
Even though Jas is unable to pick up when Caro calls, she goes straight to the hospital when she's off duty. She demands to know what's happening, who's treating her, and what procedures and tests they're performing. She bullies the staff into giving Dalia her favorite jello flavor.
Jas holds her drink well, so getting five drinks in her doesn’t change much. She'll play it up, though, especially around Hangman, hoping he will put his strong arms around her. If she sniffs him to get a whiff of his cologne, that's no one's business but her own—especially not Caro's, who gives her a knowing look.
Jas swears the Navy chiropractor is shit, so she refers the service members to Caro. We love girlies who support each other.
Jas is insulted at the implication that what she's doing with Hangman is anything like what Caro and Fanboy had. Jas is merely flirting and has no intention of sleeping with him, let alone getting pregnant. But because she can’t control herself, Jas sleeps with him that same night and doesn't tell Caro for a week. She doesn't particularly want to hear 'I told you so' from her best friend.
Jas is honest, sometimes painfully so. There's not much of a filter between her brain and mouth. She's gotten in trouble in the past, not only with the Navy but also in civilian life. She will blurt out the truth without thought of the consequences.
Jas has chemistry with everyone and identifies as pansexual, although the two have nothing to do with each other. She flirts with everyone but lays it on thick with Hangman because, well, she’s not blind, and have you seen the man?
Jas unintentionally teaches Dalia to swear because she forgets to hold her tongue around the kid.
At her core, Jas is confident but battles quite a few insecurities like not being good enough. This comes from her family’s disapproval of her decision to enlist, as if being a highly skilled doctor and surgeon isn’t enough.
Jas has a strong moral code and is known to put her career on the line to do what she believes is right. She disobeys direct orders and gets demoted because of it.
Jas reconsiders her 'do no harm' oath semi-regularly when servicemen are trying to show off and end up injured in her treatment room. She has even punched a few arms and aggressively stabbed them with needles only to say oops.
Caro and Jas work as friends because, as you mentioned, their tolerance for other people's bullshit is non-existent. Jas says 'why are men' daily, while Caro's skepticism has more to do with people as a whole.
In conclusion: I love them so much.

( lietuviškai / українською) I started listening to a new drone control course today. after the first day of studies, I can confidently say that the course in Kyiv was just a warm-up for me. I learned so much useful information in one day that I had not even thought about some things, and the courses are adapted specifically for the control of military drones (in Kyiv, although soldiers also attended them, the courses were adapted more for the civilian world) and if you sometimes do not know how you can help Ukraine in the fight, I advise you to invest in a highly motivated, promising, newly-baked pilot, born in Ukraine and with Ukrainian and Lithuanian blood. i.e. me 😼, or rather the equipment that is needed to perform tasks professionally and continue learning. Yesterday we collected the money for the control panel, the equipment that I need the most now, because with it I will be able to control flights both in simulation and in reality. (I should have it in my hands early next week) For real flights, I will still need FPV glasses (photo no. 2), the price of which is around €400. Join the modern soldiers, whose importance in warfare is already equated by military experts with artillery and aviation.👇 🛩️🛫🛬✈️🛩️🛫🛬👨‍✈️👨‍✈️👨‍✈️👨‍✈️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️ Monese BE16 9740 4393 7474 Paypal [email protected] (at Україна) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck4QA4yILgs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Steven Fischer: World’s Largest Recycler and Manufacturer of Aluminium at Novelis
Aluminium or Al as it is known from The Periodic Table during our school days, is the third most abundant element present on the Earth’s surface. This pure chemical element is obtained from the ore of Bauxite through a careful process of extraction and is an integral part of our daily lives, because of its uniquely featured characteristics. It is malleable, ductile, durable, non-magnetic, non-corrosive, and showcases the ability to be a highly conductive material. Apart from its scientific background, we can easily find Aluminium playing an essential part in the objects around us. We can find Aluminium to be made of Cans, Bottles, Foils, Wraps, Tins, Utensils, Frames, Auto Parts, Aviation Parts, Furniture, Electrical Appliances, Fixtures, etcetera. Be it in the various industries of Construction, Aerospace, Automotive, Packaging, Distribution, Storage, Transportation, Manufacturing, and many more, the use of Aluminium is widely used and known.
Tumblr media
Aluminium in our daily lives simply makes up an enormous quantity of production because of its uses and needs. Making up almost 8% of the Earth’s crust, this metal which is used widely can also be seen to be disposed of quickly and can hence comprise a rapid and enormous amount of waste production. Numbers show that in 2018, there were around 2.7 million tons of Aluminium waste produced in The United States of America alone. Although the quantity of the consumption and use of the metal on a global scale was said to be 64.2 million tons in 2021, 75% of the Aluminium produced is still recycled here, but unfortunately, it holds a staggering number and quantity that is dumped in landfills and in public spaces which invariably pollutes and harms the environment’s ecosystem and biodiversity. We can say that the maximum recycling of Aluminium possible is a good sustainable initiative which is then re-used in so many objects that become a part of lives once again.
Therefore in this article, we will cover the fascinating journey of one such enterprise that has been recognized as the World’s largest producer of flat-rolled Aluminium industry metal that is manufactured and recycled from the wastes produced. Novelis, led by President and CEO – Steven Fischer, is a technologically advanced facility in Atlanta, Georgia, The United States of America, that oversees business operations in rolling and recycling Aluminium wastes to distribute quality products that can have a second chance at being used.
Steven Fischer – President and CEO at Novelis:
The President and Chief Executive Officer at Novelis is Steven Fischer. Having studied for a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Iowa, his next 13 years of career experience before his time with Novelis was Consulting management teams of a diverse set of energy companies across the US. During these 13 years, Steven was President and Controller of TXU Energy (a subsidiary of TXU Corporation) and oversaw departments and operations in business development and strategic planning apart from finance and accounting.
In the year 2006, Steven Fischer joined Novelis and was in many managerial and executive positions in the company from then on. From being Vice President of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development (overseeing strategic, financial, and corporate operations of the business) and it was when Novelis was acquired by Hindalco in 2007 and became a flagship company of Aditya Birla Group Limited. He then became Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is currently the President and CEO, showcasing his exemplary skills, leadership, management, and directing of the business to continue its smooth operations in the industry. Under Steven Fischer’s guidance, the business operations of Novelis now operate in over 33 facilities across 9 countries all the while providing job opportunities to over 14,650 people.

Has Amelia Earhart’s Plane Really Been Found? 6 Key Things To Know
A New Grainy Sonar Image Claims to Solve the Mystery of the Famed Aviator’s Disappearance, But Experts Say it’s Too Soon to tell. Here's What We Do Know.
— By Rachel Hartigan | January 29, 2024
Tumblr media
Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in this Lockheed Electra 10e airplane on July 2, 1937. Experts say it's too early to know for sure whether claims that the wreckage has been found are true. Photograph Courtesy PF-(Aircraft), Alamy Stock Photo
With the Release of a Grainy Gold Image, news headlines around the world are trumpeting the possible discovery of Amelia Earhart’s Lockheed Electra 10e, the plane she was flying in 1937 when she and her navigator, Fred Noonan, disappeared during the most difficult leg of their round-the-world flight.
Deep Sea Vision, a new venture founded by pilot and commercial real estate investor Tony Romeo, captured the sonar image during a hundred-day expedition in the central Pacific, the region where Earhart was lost. “It was definitely a surreal moment for all of us,” says Romeo, who sold his real estate holdings to purchase a cutting-edge autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) equipped with highly advanced sonar technologies.
Tumblr media

Still, it’s too soon to say whether this discovery of an object 16,000 feet deep means one of the great historical mysteries has been solved. Here’s what we do know.
1. Sonar Images Have Limitations.
Sonar images are not photographs. The sound waves sent by sonar are at a low frequency, which translates to low resolution.
“The sound wave, because it’s so big, can’t see fine detail,” says David Jourdan, an engineer whose company Nauticos has led three expeditions in search of Earhart. “It can be distorted by reflections, like taking a picture of a mirror.” Promising images, on a second look, sometimes turn out to be something else entirely, like a geological formation.

2. Deep Sea Vision Didn’t Confirm The Object’s Identity.
Romeo and his team found the image in their data storage files as they were transitioning to another expedition. They thought that data from one of the AUV’s earlier sorties had been corrupted. When they discovered it wasn’t—and that they had a potential blockbuster find—it was too late to return to the site.
“We were out of time. We were out of resources,” says Romeo. “And we didn’t have a camera on our [AUV]. It broke really early in the expedition.” Returning to go over the target again with just sonar didn’t seem worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars he estimated it would cost. Deep Sea Vision plans to go back to the sonar image site this year, this time with an operational camera on the AUV to confirm the finding.

3. Some Experts Say The Plane, If It Is A Plane, Doesn’t Resemble The Electra.
“The proportions aren’t quite right,” says Jourdan, pointing to the way the wings are swept back rather than straight across, as the Electra’s were.
Others are even more skeptical. “For the wings of an Electra to fold rearward as shown in the sonar image, the entire center section would have to fail at the wing/fuselage junctions,” according to an email blast from The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR), an organization that has put forward the theory that Earhart died a castaway on an island to the east of the sonar image site. “That’s just not possible.”
Romeo dismisses this criticism. Both the wings and the tail look swept back due to distortion caused by the AUV moving through the water, he says, pointing to the twin fins on the back of the plane instead. “That’s very distinctive of her aircraft,” he says. “There’s only a couple of planes that’ve ever been made like that.”

4. The Object’s Location Is Roughly On Earhart’s Flight Path—But Beyond The Range Suggested By Her Radio Signals.
Earhart and Noonan disappeared on July 2, 1937, flying from Lae, New Guinea, to Howland Island, a one-and-a-half-mile long island some 2,500 miles away. After flying 20 hours, Earhart thought they were close and radioed the Itasca, the Coast Guard ship awaiting them at Howland, “We must be on you but cannot see you.” Her voice was so loud, the Coast Guard radiomen thought she was very near too. She wasn’t, but the strength of the radio signals suggest that she was just beyond visual range.
Deep Sea Vision’s search area was roughly a hundred miles west; Romeo won’t reveal exactly where to avoid someone else making the crucial find. But he does acknowledge that they were guided by a theory that Noonan had failed to account for how the International Date Line would affect his calculations. That theory, however, doesn’t account for the strength of Earhart’s radio signals.

5. Others Have Claimed To Solve This Mystery.
Over the nearly 90 years since Earhart and Noonan vanished, many people have claimed to have proof of what happened to them.
Tumblr media

People who believe the Japanese captured and killed the aviators have pointed to everything from a generator retrieved in a Saipan harbor in 1960 to a photograph on a Jaluit dock revealed in 2017. TIGHAR, meanwhile, has claimed various smoking guns over the years but now argues that a preponderance of historical and archaeological evidence puts Earhart on Nikumaroro Island, 400 hundred miles south of Howland, where they believe she starved to death.
Then there’s the simplest explanation: that the aviators simply crashed into the ocean. Elgen Long, an airline pilot who with his wife Marie did the most extensive research into where that might have happened, wrote a book called Amelia Earhart: The Mystery Solved. Over three expeditions, Jourdan has looked where Long suggested (and elsewhere) and come up empty.
Tumblr media
6. The Mystery Is Still Unsolved. That Doesn’t Mean Its Unsolvable.
Jourdan’s team believes they’ve narrowed down where the Electra went down based on recent radio signal testing. Meanwhile, when Deep Sea Vision returns to the site this year, they will bring a documentary crew to capture the moment. “This is definitely something that we need to go back and look at,” says Romeo. “We’ve got to get out there before … you know, there is some urgency.”

GRIPENS for Ukraine?
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/18/2022 - 16:00 in Military, War Zones
The Royal Joint Institute of Defense Studies (RUSI) issued a report on the air war in Ukraine and presented air defense requirements so that Kiev could resist Russian attacks on military, fuel and energy infrastructure.
RUSI believes that Zelensky needs more support from the West, and one of the solutions to this support is proposed to consider the possibility of providing Saab JAS39 Gripen C/D fighters to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The summary of the report states that the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out attack operations on a much larger scale in the early days of the confilto than those previously documented, and the capabilities of Ukrainian land air defense were suppressed by initial attacks. During this period, Ukrainian fighter aircraft caused some damage to the Russian Aerospace Forces, but suffered serious losses due to the complete technological backwardness and the strong numerical superiority of Russian aviation.
According to the authors of the report, Russian fighters remain highly effective against near-front Ukrainian aircraft throughout the war, especially the Su-35 with an R-77-1 long-range missile, and in recent months - the MiG-31BM with an R-37 missile. But since the beginning of March, the Aerospace Forces have lost their ability to operate in airspace controlled by Ukraine, except for very low altitudes. The reason for this is the inability to reliably suppress or destroy dispersed Ukrainian mobile anti-aircraft missile systems. Numerous MANPADS provided to Ukrainian armed groups and mobile air defense groups led to the fact that the departures of Russian attack aircraft and attack helicopters beyond the front line in March were prohibitively dangerous and stopped in April 2022.
Tumblr media
Throughout the war, most Russian air strikes are carried out on predetermined targets using bombs and unguided missiles. Su-34 jets regularly launch remotely controlled missiles, such as X-29 and X-59, on stationary targets, and Su-30SM and Su-35 fighters regularly attack with X-31P and X-58 anti-radar missiles to suppress Ukrainian air defense radars.
The report indicates that, without aerial superiority, Russia's attempts to launch a strategic aviation attack are limited to the use of expensive cruise missiles and ballistics on a much more limited scale. "They failed to cause strategically decisive damage during the first seven months of the invasion. However, the latest version of [events] is a targeted and constant bombing of the Ukrainian electricity grid, combining hundreds of cheap ammunition from Iranian Kamikaze drones Shahed-136 substations, with the continuous use of cruise and ballistic missiles for larger targets," note RUSI analysts.
They warn that the West should avoid complacency in strengthening the capacity of the Ukrainian air defense. It is because Russia has failed to destroy Ukraine's mobile air defense systems that the Russian Aerospace Forces cannot effectively use the potentially heavy aerial firepower of its multipurpose bombers and fighters to bomb Ukrainian strategic targets and frontline positions from medium altitude, as it was in Syria. It follows that if the Ukrainian air defense systems are not refueled with ammunition and, eventually, are not modernized and replaced by Western analogues, with the Russian Aerospace Forces being able to again pose a serious threat.
Tumblr media
Ukrainian Air Force fighter aviation needs modern Western aircraft and missiles to neutralize the Aerospace Forces. Any Western fighter should be able to perform operations using mobile maintenance equipment and small groups of personnel, as well as fly from relatively irregular runways so as not to be neutralized by long-range Russian missile attacks.
RUSI experts said in the report that the Swedish aircraft JAS39 Gripen is “certainly the most suitable candidate” for combat operations that could meet the operational needs of Kiev. Its transfer will improve the short- and medium-term planning of the Ukrainian General Staff, minimizing the risk of long-range Russian missile attacks.
The authors also warned that the supply of aircraft, air defense systems, missile ammunition and self-propelled anti-aircraft weapons is crucial to prevent a new Russian attack campaign, which, if not prevented, could lead to a sharp change in the current situation.
"Conceptually, the Swedish Air Force has always focused on the tactics of gaining aerial superiority at low altitudes of scattered bases, similar to what the Ukrainian Air Force currently operates and, therefore, the Gripen was developed with ground auxiliary equipment and maintenance requirements compatible with this approach," notes the Breaking Defense website.
Tumblr media
“Therefore, even several modern Western fighters with long-range missiles capable of resisting Russians in technically equal or even higher terms are likely to have a disproportionate deterrent effect,” the authors of the publication add.
Zelensky's previous requests to NATO members for Western fighters were rejected, although some U.S. authorities, including the Chief of the Air Force General Staff, General Charles K. Brown, publicly supported this idea. In March, Bulgaria, Poland and Slovakia - the only European countries capable of supplying common aircraft to Ukrainian MiG-29 and Su-25 - excluded such deliveries, although they previously claimed otherwise.

Chinese Air Force publicly reveals J-20 stealth game on the ground during AirShow China 2022
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/18/2022 - 14:00 in Military
AirShow China 2022 marked the first time Chengdu Aerospace publicly exhibited its J-20 stealth game on the ground, giving the public the opportunity to see the aircraft in all pre- and post-flight operations.
As reported by Liu Xuanzun and Fan Wei in Zhuhai, in the Global Times, China will continue to update its J-20 stealth game, including the implementation of the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive technologies, announced Yang Wei, chief designer of the J-20, at a press conference held by the state-owned Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) in Zhuhai,
The Chengdu J-20, also known as Mighty Dragon, is a stealth game for any climate developed by China's Chengdu Aerospace Corporation for the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). The J-20 is designed as an aerial superiority fighter with precision attack capability; it descends from the J-XX program of the 1990s.
The aircraft made its inaugural flight on January 11, 2011 and was officially revealed at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition 2016. The aircraft entered service in March 2017 and began its combat training phase in September 2017. The first J-20 combat unit was formed in February 2018. The J-20 is the third fifth-generation operational stealth game in the world after the F-22 and F-35.
The development strategy of the Air Force of the China People's Liberation Army (PLAAF) used to be internal defense, but now it has become the integration of airspace with attack and defense capabilities, said Yang Wei, chief designer of the J-20. The J-20 was deployed in all parts of eastern, west, south, north and central China, and the combat capacity, number and range of the J-20 had significant increases, according to Yang.
"Four J-20s can participate in a formation, which is a small system; a J-20 can join a J-16 and a J-10C in another small system. Recent news has also suggested that the J-20 can fly along with drones, which is also a system," said Yang, echoed by Liu Xuanzun and Fan Wei. The J-20 will also integrate closely with terrestrial, sea, air and space systems to play its ideal role throughout the system, and this includes the implementation of the latest cognitive and AI technologies, said the chief designer.
