not feeling safe your whole life to share your real honest feelings with your father because he explodes and takes it as a personal, utterly disrespectful offense when you have, but now youre trying to learn and heal from that so you decide to be honest about your feelings with your father instead of lying to please him and he explodes and takes it as a personal, utterly disrespectful offense <
#👍#and when you literally explain this to him he claims that he did no such thing#because he cannot do anything without fighting and opposing. and he does not know what it is to simply let something be#and he deludes himself into thinking because he has good intentions no one can fault him for bad outcomes and if they do thats disrespectful#THATS WHAT IT IS OH MY GOD. ive been trying to figure iut what thr hell it is hecause its so confusing#he always says ‘my intentions are good. you know that right?’ etc etc etc everything about how hisnintentions are good#LIKE BROTHER I KNOW THAT!!!! I KNOW!! but good intentions do not excuse anyone from the harm they may cause!!!!#thats not how it works!! you are AVOIDING TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THINGS BY USING GOOD INTENTITON AS AN EXCUSE#i KNOW you mean well. and thats commendable. thats great. but you fucking HAVE to realize that#good intention does not automatically translate over to good action#GOOD INTENTION =/= GOOD ACTION#FUCKING HELL MAN#or maybe its better to say good intention does not automatically translate to excused actions#because then he would say he never CLAIMED to always do the right/good things because of his intentions#the problem is that he WILL NOT take accountability for when he doesn’t end up doing the right thing even when he has good intention#because he cannot possibly see himself as in the wrong or being able to improve as long as he meant well#froegis meep tag

Character Analysis – Huan
I was thinking about why Huan leaves Celegorm when he does, and it’s clearly not just “he likes Lúthien better.”
The first question to answer is, why does it happen during the Leithian and not during or after Alqualondë? And while the Doylist (out-of-universe) reason for that is provably that Tolkien thought up the character of Huan specifically for the Leithian and didn’t think much about his role in the story before then, I think there’s a decent Watsonian (in-universe) one as well. Huan is a dog; an intelligent dog, yes, but a dog. He thinks like a dog, and he has the political understanding of a dog, which is to say: not much. If he wasn’t involved in the fighting at Alqualondë himself – and there’s no textual reason to think he was – I don’t think he would have had much understanding of what was going on beyond “people are fighting”.
But in Nargothrond Lúthien is talking to him, and she’s saying, “Someone that I love and am devoted to is in terrible danger from Sauron and his werewolves, and Celegorm is holding me prisoner and won’t let me help him”. That is something a dog can understand. And Celegorm understands the speech of animals – Huan can talk to Celegorm without needing elven or hunan language – but Celegorm isn’t listening. So Huan decides that Celegorm is doing sonething wrong, and that he’s going to help Lúthien rescue Beren.
And then, this is crucial, Huan goes back. He goes back to Celegorm, despite Celegorm being mad as hell at him for helping Lúthien escape. If he was just leaving because he liked Lúthien better, he wouldn’t have done that; he could have just gone with her and Beren then. He is actively choosing to renain loyal.
My understanding of Huan’s decision there is that he’s going to continue as he’s started: he’s going to be loyal to Celegorm and follow him, but if Celegorm tries to do things that Huan cannot morally countenance, Huan will try to stop him, and accept the consequences if Celegorm is angry at him for that.
So now let’s go to Celegorm and Curufin’s final attack on Beren and Lúthien. What changes then? The argument I’ve seen is, ‘But why at that precise moment? Celegorm wasn’t even doing anything particularly problematic compared to his other actions at the moment Huan changed sides! He was just trying to stop Beren from strangling Curufin!’
So, walking through what happens. Everything is happening extremely fast at the beginning – this isn’t an isolated sequence of events. Celegorm and Curufin see Beren and Lúthien walking unawares; they suddenly spur their horses at them, Celegorm comes at Beren with a spear while Curufin grabs Lúthien, and right when Celegorm’s about to spear Beren, Beren makes a jump and tackles Curufin off his horse. Huan doesn’t know what Celegorm and Curufin are doing until they do it, and there’s about a second between that and Beren tackling Curufin off his horse.
And what’s changed now is that Huan’s previous choice of action is no longer possible. He can’t just choose to oppose specific actions. Working for or with Celegorm means being complicit in good peoples’ deaths; there’s no opt-out, nobody-gets-hurt option. If Huan does nothing, Beren dies, in a fight that was caused by Celegorm and Curufin attacking two unarmed people at unawares.
And that’s when Huan changes sides. Not because he’s just decided he likes Beren and Lúthien better than Celegorm (he clearly likes them, but he stayed with Celegorm all the same after Tol-in-Gaurhoth), but because Celegorm has become someone who cannot be served innocently. The options are to let Celegorm kill people, or to stop serving him.
And crucially, this does not lead to Curufin dying – because Lúthien asks Beren to spare him, and Beren listens to her. Because Lúthien and Beren are good people whose character can be relied on, and heling them doesn’t mean people die – not even their enemies. If that hadn’t happened, I don’t think Huan would have stayed with them, even if he had still left Celegorm.
A lot of the story of the Fëanoreans and their followers can be fit into a framework of the question “At what point does loyalty become immoral?” It’s evoked in Maedhros defying Fëanor at Losgar; in some of the Fëanorean forces changing sides at Sirion and dying in defence of their victims; in the final conversation between Maedhros and Maglor. Loyalty to your father, to your liegelords, to your brother; and loyalty of a dog to his master.

Analysis on Alex Louis Armstrong? I feel that's a character in FMA/FMAB that has so much depth (i.e., past in the war, post-war life, including being seen as too soft for a promotion) as part of the main cast but doesn't get anything in the fandom due to his comedic relief aspect, which is as much of a front, as it is a genuine side of him.
Thank you for the ask!
Alex Louis V. Armstrong. The very definition of generational wealth (a nod to his comic relief quote: “passed down the Armstrong line for generations”).
I often wonder what his family did to pass down such talents through generations, especially in a world governed by the principle of equivalent exchange. Generational wealth might actually be an anomaly to the law of equivalent exchange. How do things get passed down through family lines for generations? The science/magic/alchemy behind it may involve some aspects of genetics and Charles Darwin's theories, but let's not delve too deeply into that.
As a character, he might be the greenest flag you’d find. A wealthy, physically-fit man hails from a noble family known for its alchemists and high-ranking military officers. He possesses a variety of random skills, including drawing portraits, running, and wood-chopping. The moment he’s born, you could truly say he’s already set for life.
But, why did he choose to serve the military? His duty as an Armstrong may be a factor, but considering that Catherine Armstrong isn’t part of the military makes me think the whole thing isn’t forced upon him like it were some family debt.
I believe Armstrong's awareness of his position at the top of the food chain is what drives his desire to help others. His gentle nature may come from the understanding that he is stronger than most people, and that a simple squeeze from him could potentially hurt someone. This is evident in the way he hugs everyone—his affection is often a bit too much.
Armstrong understands the way of the world, or at least he thinks he does. What we may have overlooked is that he likely grew up in a bubble, too privileged to see the fine line between two opposing extremes. Protection for one side can often feel like aggression toward the other, and vice versa. He has yet to realize that life is not always black and white; it isn't simply a matter of good and bad.
And so, during the Ishval War, he was informed that he would be defending the country from monsters. Instead, he found himself killing innocent people who were simply trying to defend themselves. His original purpose for joining the military was to be the “strong arm” that protected those who couldn't protect themselves. Yet, there he was, picking on individuals who were clearly not his equal in strength.
Armstrong is the only character depicted as standing up to his superior to stop the war in Ishval. In contrast, Roy, Hughes, and Riza seem to reluctantly comply with their orders without question. In the manga, Armstrong allows two Ishvalans to escape, only to witness them get killed by Kimblee shortly afterward.

Now, his softness and awareness of his strength becomes a sign of weakness.
He’s told that if he doesn’t fight, he’s letting his comrades die.
It must have been a great shame for him and his family’s name when everyone else called him a deserter. But if he truly did leave that cause, why did he still serve the military after leaving Ishval early?
He must have realized that his role is to protect the weak, even if the oppressors are the very people he is working with. He is wise enough to play along, understanding that the government has information that he cannot erase on his own, much like the ice alchemist from FMA Brotherhood.
If he didn't return, if he chose to abandon politics and the military, he would be fleeing once more from his role as the "strong arm" for the weak.
The horrors of war will always exist, and no one else can confront a powerful government like he can.
Because Alex knows he’s one of the strongest, and he knows he can’t just stand there and do nothing.
Additional:
In FMA Brotherhood, as Armstrong is fighting Sloth, the soldiers behind him were telling him to flee. But he did not, he said he won’t run away again (I like this version better than the one in the manga, which is just Olivier saying she trained his brother to endure worse).
Perhaps the Armstrong family line has plenty of good qualities because they might have suffered a lot in the past just so them (the future generation) could benefit from it. Both Alex and Olivier mentioned this in the manga.

It’s also a common theme throughout FMA, that even Riza mentioned it to Roy (of course we circle back to royai)

I love your writings. I hope you are doing well. how would the Uchiha clan react to an Uchiha-nara half-breed inheriting both things from both clans?
Thank you baby! All good, how about you? Also, I love my mean and sensitive men❤️🩹

Indra
He does not speak immediately. Simply watches, unreadable, as if the very existence of such a child is beneath his notice. But the tension in the room shifts, thickening like a storm cloud, warning of violence not yet spoken.
To inherit his blood should have been an honor, an extension of his own power, his own will. Instead, the child carries an affliction, their blood, a mockery in human form.
His silence is deliberate, an executioner’s pause before the blade descends. He has no need for raised voices or declarations of anger. His presence alone bends the air around him, pressing down with an authority that does not need to be spoken to be understood.
When he finally speaks, it is quiet, but there is a weight behind it that cracks the bones of those who listen. -Disgraceful.-
It is not a word flung in anger, but one delivered with absolute certainty, as if it is a fundamental truth of the world. The child is an offense, a wound upon his legacy, not by their own doing, but by the weakness of those before them.
Indra does not dwell on things unworthy of his time. He does not rant, does not lash out with wasted energy. The child exists, and that is already too much.
Madara
Finds the child interesting.
His lips curl, not quite a smile, but something close, something sharp with intrigue. Power, real power, is born from conflict, from the struggle of opposing forces. And what greater struggle could exist than the one woven into this child’s very bones? The Uchiha and the Nara, collision of fire and shadow, of eyes that see everything and minds that think ten steps ahead.
He sees the potential. Potential. It is a rare thing, and Madara respects it above all else.
Still, he watches with caution. Power without control is worthless. If this child cannot master the war within their own blood, then they are of no use to him. But if they can, if they harness it, wield it like a blade... then they are something entirely new. A force unseen before.
And Madara is always interested in forces that have never existed before.
Izuna
Doesn’t give a fuck.
-The kid?- He scoffs, running a hand through his wild hair, eyes half-lidded with boredom. -Let ‘em live, let ‘em die, let ‘em do whatever the fuck they want.-
To him, this is not an issue of legacy, power, or betrayal. It’s not his problem. The kid is alive? Great. The kid is dead? Not his concern. He has no patience for the dramatics of lineage wars and ancient grudges. His own blood is enough of a headache; he’s not about to start worrying over some half-Uchiha kid carrying Nara shadows in their veins.
But, if they prove useful? If they can actually fight and keep up? Well, maybe they’ll earn a nod of respect. Maybe.
Until then, they’re just another person walking around, and Izuna has better things to do than dwell on them.
Obito
Obito feels sorry for them.
He watches from a distance, hands in his pockets, shoulders tense with something that is not quite sadness, but close. He knows what it’s like; to be different, to stand at the edge of your own people, never fully belonging.
This kid… they’re doomed from the start. Uchiha do not forgive. They do not forget. A half-blood? They will never be seen as enough, not Uchiha enough, not Nara enough. Not anything enough.
He clenches his fists.
He wonders if they know. If they can feel it, that slow suffocation of being born into a fate that was already decided before they even took their first breath. If they understand what kind of burden their own existence will be.
And he wonders if they will survive it.
Shisui
Shisui makes it his mission to protect them.
Because someone has to. Because he sees the way people look at the kid, the whispered words, the wary glances, the thinly veiled hostility. He sees the way even their own kin hesitate before speaking their name, as if saying it aloud will somehow taint them.
And he can’t stand it.
So he steps in. He walks beside them, trains them, laughs with them. He makes sure they know that they are not alone. That no matter what anyone else says, they have a place; because he will carve one out for them if he has to.
The clan can say whatever they want. Indra can glower from his throne. Madara can scheme, Obito can pity, and Itachi can stay silent.
None of it matters. Because as long as Shisui is alive, this kid will have someone.
And he will fight to make sure they know that.
Itachi
Itachi does not get involved.
Because he already knows how this ends.
The path has already been laid. The whispers of the past are too loud, the shadows of history too heavy. The child will struggle, will fight, will try to carve out their place between two worlds that were never meant to mix.
But in the end… the Uchiha do not forget. And the Nara do not forgive.
He sees it in the way the elders speak of them. In the way Indra does not even acknowledge their existence beyond silent judgment. In the way Madara watches with intrigue, as if weighing whether they are worth keeping alive.
Itachi has spent his life watching inevitable tragedies unfold.
And so, he does not interfere.
Because this, too, is a fate already written.

Teen!Regressor Jack Twist Headcanons
I haven't seen anything of Jack regressing, but he's ALSO regressor-coded to me. Mentions of baby Ennis because I cannot help myself I'm addicted
CW: Mentions of hypersexuality
☘︎ Teen regressor; Regresses to the ages 14-19 usually
☘︎ He regresses both voluntarily and involuntarily. Given his natural childish demeanor, it's hard to notice when he is regressing and this can leave him feeling stressed and dissatisfied with no clue why
☘︎ Started regressing when he was late twenties/early thirties. It was a way to escape the stress of being a new father + the situationship with Ennis. He likes returning to who he was when he met Ennis. It makes it feel okay, if only for a moment
☘︎ He writes in a diary (he insists it's a journal) when he's regressed. He complains a lot there. It helps him get those repressed feelings out without throwing a teen tantrum. He doodles sometimes. Ennis has never seen them, but Jack gets too embarrassed
☘︎ Smokes and drinks a lot less, surprisingly. It's more thrilling when he does as opposed to the casual sipping/smoking he does in big space. Plus, he's deathly afraid of getting caught by Ennis
☘︎ Ennis is a total hardass of a dad. It gets on Jack's nerves. He's not rebellious on purpose, but he is rambunctious, and this causes conflict between the two
☘︎ This is rarely a problem. 70% of the time, Jack is babysitting a regressed Ennis. He gets a lot of joy, but can be overbearing to Ennis with his energy. Poor baby just needs sleep
☘︎ Helps with his hypersexuality problems. It's easier to blame it on puberty and ignore it than accept it comes from a need to be loved :(
☘︎ ROLLERSKATES!! He's not great at it, he only practices when he's regressed, but he has fun, falls and all
☘︎ Likes playing ball with Ennis too! Ennis gets tuckered out way too fast, and jack pesters him until he agrees to play again
☘︎ Play fights a LOT. Will randomly tackle Ennis to the ground
☘︎ On the phone a concerning amount. The whole time he's rambling on about his day to Ennis. He fiddles with the cord
☘︎ He also chews on pens. Every time he's regressed, one of his pens gets chewed half to death. Absentminded habit
☘︎ He's a destructive teen. He'll do stupid stuff and end up breaking a bottle of whisky and getting in trouble for it
☘︎ He will sit by the radio for hours. He tells Ennis about all the new songs. He grumbles in response to seem like he knows what he's talking about
☘︎ Similarly reads a lot of magazines. Will rip out pages he likes and put them in his journal. He'll tape them onto letters too and mail them to Ennis. He can always tell when a letter is from a younger Jack because his handwriting will be much sloppier
☘︎ He cannot sit still what so ever. He'll spin around in his seat and get into 5 different positions within minutes
☘︎ Calls Ennis his, "old man" or "Dad"
☘︎ When they're both regressed, Ennis sees Jack as a big brother. He will call him, "brother" or make attempts to do it. Ends up sounding like "brudd..r" (if it sounds like anything other than babbling)
☘︎ While big space Jack's worried about care, little space Jack cares about playing with Ennis. He dangles a lot of stuff in front of Ennis's face, makes a lot of noise, plays peek-a-boo, ect
☘︎ Very very very affectionate. Almost always hugging and kissing Ennis. little space Jack has a hard time containing his cuteness aggression towards baby Ennis
☘︎ Still the best cg ever <3 Ennis loves him so much

*slithers in* i was thinking about your guys as you do and i was wondering how does Yarrow feel about crime and violence? in the sense that, i know you've said Yarrow is the one to spur the both of them into retribution once their lives are threatened later on in the story and i've been wondering how is Yarrow's relationship to something like that. in terms of like does he have any history with that kind of life before Grimm? did anyone ever teach him to shoot, or fight or is that something Grimm has to impart? does he take it to it well, and as a doctor does he have any conflicting feelings about it? WOO sorry a lot of questions but if you feel like talking abt any of it id be very curious :>
HIIIII THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME A CHANCE TO TALK ABOUT THIS HEHEEEEEEEE i'm excited rubs my hands together yarrow my favorite guy yarrow who has problems
this is also a lot of fun bc it's something i DO in fact think about often heheeheheehohohooho
also this turned into. A Lot so it's mostly under the cut BUT for the thesis of this: yarrow prefers not to fight, but if driven to do so, has no qualms about it, especially if violence is the only answer. he’s always kinda wanted a reason to beat the shit out of someone real good but never had that reason until now. yarrow can have little a bloodshed. as a treat <3
also i didn't draw anything new for this but i'm putting in relevant images so there are pictures and not all words
SO yarrow's relationship with violence is so much fun for me to turn around in my brain because, although he's a doctor, he's not inherently opposed to violence. he's a sweetheart and genuinely cares about the well-being of people, but deep down he also wants to know so badly what it would feel like to full-throttle beat the shit out of someone. to know what it's like to break instead of fix and give it to someone who deserves a beating. and he knows this about himself—yarrow’s deal is suppression, not repression. that being said, he doesn't love violence, or rather, the aftermath; his job would be a hell of a lot easier if it wasn't so prevalent. so for him, physical violence is a final resort. something he would need to be pushed to do when left no other choice.
i’ve mentioned before his pervasive sort of ”give and take” mentality—that mostly applies to himself before anything else, and ofc that attitude extends to violence as well. pretty simply an “i don’t wanna get punched so i’m not gonna punch people” thing. he wants to be a bitch sometimes. he will not let himself be a bitch. p3 frees him from his shackles because he now has reasons to be a bitch
at his core, yarrow wants to help people, to make the world a less shitty place with their actions, and ideally inspire that compassion in others—this and an interest in the (mostly) human body is why they’re a doctor. p3 of honeybee sees them removed from their practice entirely and—to their knowledge—possibly unable to go back, so they go: “what is the most helpful thing i can do right now not just for grimm and i, but other people? commit violence against the people who harmed not only me, but my lover and countless others because they have not faced consequences for their actions”
the world of honeybee is ofc course like ours where those in power inflict violence that they don't consider violence and, like a lot of characters, yarrow sees that imbalance. most people cannot meaningfully disrupt the machine slowly devouring them without risking their lives, loved ones, livelihoods, etc. and grimm and yarrow are in a particularly unique position to actually retaliate: neither of them are in any debt, they have each other, and their home/loved ones are far away enough as to not be directly threatened (* as of right now), so this, combined with grimm’s expertise and the knowledge that the two of them are being pursued anyways, creates a mindset of essentially “let’s try to turn them into the hunted instead of the hunter because there’s going to be violence either way and just maybe we’ll be enough of a threat for them to back off” they’re both humod, diplomacy is a laughable pipe dream
also generally the more wealthy and powerful someone is, the less yarrow cares about hurting them—especially because he believes it's the duty of anyone with power to wield it for the benefit of all and witnessing the constant misuse of it at the cost of other's lives/well-beings kind of galvanizes him more because it’s punching up
up until they ran off with grimm in p1, yarrow had basically no experience engaging in or even really being on the periphery of crime (with the exception of dealing with the physical consequences on/in people's bodies), they stayed in their lane, didn't wanna get killed or hurt by any outlaws or organized crime things happening where they grew up, which is also easier to do in the larger cities due to more wealth/security/etc/etc. grimm introduced them to more overtly breaking laws early in p1 by breaking into a motel their first night in rappock, and yarrow got really nervous not only about being caught, but about how they're indirectly harming someone, unlike grimm (who is concerned with its own survival first and foremost), yarrow considers how it affects people outside themself
i'd say this hang-up with doing illegal things mmmostly applies to himself though, as he recognizes that circumstances and desperation will bring people to do things they normally wouldn’t and tries to extend that forgiveness. grimm’s work as an outlaw in p1 is one example, where he knows it’s not a job it takes to gleefully but out of necessity, so he doesn't have too much of a conundrum about its work. if anything, he’s more off-put by grimm’s ability to kill him if it wanted to, but also in a way, grimm not killing him in cold blood helps yarrow come to the conclusion that grimm won’t harm people more than necessary...? (grimm’s own thought process is more self-centered than that but. close enough)
also! yarrow's views on violence are not static throughout the story! i’ve been mostly talking about p3 yarrow, who has much less to lose, less face to save, and more life experience, but in p1 especially he’s naive to a lot of what goes on and gets hand wring-y about some stuff. for instance, he does take issue with grimm being contracted to kill the hayden mining exec by their random client at the end,.even if he does benefit from it immensely (grimm talks about using the cash to maybe settle down and yarrow’s included), is it really worth the life of another person? In p2 though? yeah kill that guy, sure. yarrow’s been in union meetings, he knows the bullshit hayden gets up to. if some third party also wants him out of the way and will pay for it? great. he won’t say any of that out loud but. not a huge loss to him
going back to yarrow committing violence himself though, he won't do it without solid justification. violence is for people that deserve it, not everyday people. i have this p3 scene half-written where he and grimm rob two random people at gunpoint and he's shaking and apologizing the entire time despite knowing this is the quickest way the two of them could get enough cash to not have to like...fully survive out in the desert. it's necessary but these people didn't do anything to him so he has a hard time with it! and it eats at him! and he knows he’s not unjustified with it but he doesn’t want to do something like that again if he can help it
but when they do have that real justification? there is a reason yarrow's weapon of choice is a shotgun.
they still want a bit of an excuse to be really bloodthirsty, and when it falls into their lap, when no one, including themself, could really blame them for what he did, if they have to resort to physical violence? they are going to make it hurt. they are not aiming to kill, they are aiming to maim. if someone dies? serves them right. if they live? give them scars to remember not to fuck with him again. and if pushed to this point, they won't have many moral hangups about it—yarrow is the guy with the whole worthiness complex and sometimes it applies outside himself
and also to that point, there’s very much a sense of justice and defense to it too. shoot at grimm in the middle of his clinic's lobby? get a shotgun slug to the chest. a girl too young to be a mother comes into his clinic pregnant? if the man who did it comes in bleeding out, yarrow might just let it happen. couldn't save him in time, so sorry. he’s no saint, but if he has the power to balance the scales, he might take it. and to be clear though this is more about like. yarrow shedding inhibitions rather than enjoying partaking in violence. at the end of the day he’s not having fun with this (but i am :3c) and knows the weight of what he does and what it may cost him, even when he doesn’t regret it.
all that being said though, yarrow doesn’t get into fights like. ever while in rappock until the end of p2. medical neutrality protects his ass from the worst of it and if it’s not a huge deal, he’ll put on an intimidating face. i don’t have specifics in mind but he’s probably been on the periphery of some shit going on in town, but no one’s ever seen him get real scary or anything. something for me to chew on later prolly idk. i have so many other thoughts rn
(there is a slight exception to what i’m saying here between p2 and p3 when he’s undergoing his modification because at that point he’s just. kicking and screaming because well. he was kidnapped and his body is being altered against his will so of course he’s gonna fight back animal-brain style. this is all a sort of blur to him though bc he was essentially put in a goo-tube coma for most of his modification because he kept fighting people and they didn’t know what else to do with him)
okay now. how he learns to fight
he doesn’t know shit until grimm comes along. he’s maybe done some ~self defense~ type stuff while in school or some work-sponsored bullshit they did instead of paying him more, but never any formal training. being able to defend yourself is a good skill in the wider world that yarrow more or less ran off into with grimm and he needs to learn if he literally wants to survive. grimm’s the first one to teach him and begins with teaching him how to shoot their revolver and fight a bit as part of an exchange in p1 for yarrow teaching them some first aid skills. after p1, yarrow asks some of the more rough miner types in rappock to teach him some stuff, which is where he learns to use his shotgun and that he likes how it feels better than a revolver (yes the hurting thing but also it is more comfortable for him). then grimm teaches him some more once they come back bc he does want to learn (if only to have somewhat of an outlet lol) he’s not great at fighting by virtue of being busy with other things and not having consistent time to learn, but with both the weight and muscle he’s put on, he can pack a punch and doesn’t go down easy
shotguns don’t require much in the way of accuracy so he doesn’t have to be as good of a shot. the extra eyes throw off his aim for awhile too so he's all over the place for a chunk of p3. when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, i would describe him as a brawler; he’s more reckless than grimm (much to their distress), but at the same time does use his medical knowledge to target weak spots and get things over with quickly. grimm’s the more elegant of the two by virtue of being trained, but neither of them are fighting clean. Then again no one else really is either dhgkfhldk
it’s also fun comparing and contrasting them bc when it comes to physical violence in a fighting situation, yarrow prioritizes disabling the assailant without killing them (injury/breaking things is not off the table), where grimm prioritizes their and yarrow's survival, and will more readily use dirty tricks or kill people to ensure its own survival. because grimm so easily outclasses yarrow in fighting ability and it’s guard dog nature, it’s much more keen to jump into violent situations in yarrow’s stead. not out of recklessness either, just a trust in its own abilities and in yarrow to help if it needs. while it still makes them nervous, yarrow pretty effortlessly falls into more of a support role in a lot of situations, hanging back or being a lookout
yarrow does struggle with the loss of life at times, especially if he causes it, but grimm’s got a sort of kill-people-for-free pass in yarrow’s mind, so over time it sort of shifts into this “if grimm kills people, i don’t have to feel bad about it” thing that yarrow tries really hard not to slip too far down into because also grimm is really eager to serve ease any discomfort of yarrow’s and he still like, has his morals mostly intact. he knows grimm is so happy to be his guard dog, he can’t let it destroy itself like that, he has goals that he can’t accomplish without grimm, grimm wants to be wielded like a knife, grimm is a person not an object, he cannot ask that of grimm, and he’s so, so sorry for all of this
so his conflict with violence doesn’t arise from the violence itself, but with how far he’s willing to let grimm go on his behalf. there’s also some “i can’t ask you to do that if i’m not willing to myself” stuff mixed in. it’s a whole mess but that’s also why i have SO much fun with the two of them and their dynamic. i’m desperately trying to plot out what the fuck it is they actually do in p3 so i can figure out actual situations that demonstrate all this bc it’s driving me bonkers to just!! have this in my head and no concrete actions really but! i’m hoping to really beef up the first draft this year and i’ve made a few strides towards Figuring Things Out lately so i am. Getting Somewhere yeehaw
#AUDIBLY EXHALES#I WAS NOT LYING. WHEN I SAID THIS WAS AN ESSAY. IT IS OVER 2K WORDS OF ME TALKING MOSTLY JUST ABOUT YARROW#ALSO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THIS I HAD A LOT OF FUN AND WAS VERY INDULGENT HEE HOO#i rotate these fuckers around in my head all the time. separately and together. the comparing.....the contrasts.........#the complexities and the contradictions#also i hope this is coherent. on god.#also. always a little baffled when ppl say they think abt my guys. like what do you mean they're not just in MY head.....augh <3#asks#confusedlucifer#yarrow#honeybee

Frozen Fire Chapter 17
As usual, I suck at posting these when the fic updates, but I realized today that Frozen Fire is officially one year old!!! Makes me happy. :) Anyway, enjoy!
“I want to help,” Sam announced one morning at breakfast.
The breakfast table had gone silent.
Frostbite frowned at her, a steaming mug raised to his muzzle, while Tsuel turned to face her with brows raised in mild surprise. Elle didn’t say anything, though she, too, stared at Sam, albeit through narrowed eyes. Meanwhile, Phantom—no, Danny—simply arched a brow at her, smiling faintly, as if already amused by whatever bullshit he assumed she was about to spew at them. In the week that had followed their little moonlit tryst, he’d taken to simply smirking at her when she talked at breakfast, which she was certain he did just to irritate her.
Sam met every one of their stares, her face set and determined.
“Help with what, Sam?” Frostbite asked.
“Defending the Far Frozen during the raids,” she said. “I want to help fight.”
Frostbite sighed wearily and set his mug down on the table. “You know I cannot condone that.”
“Sleetjaw cleared me for physical training yesterday,” she said, undeterred as she’d been expecting his pushback. Arms still crossed, she jerked her chin at Tsuel. “Ask her, she was there.”
Before Tuel could respond, Frostbite said, “I am well aware of what Sleetjaw has told you, human girl, but that does mean I can in good conscience send you to fight. You are still untrained.”
She gave him her best are-you-stupid look. “Untrained? I’ve been fighting these fuckers for years.”
“She does have a point there, father,” Danny said. He winked at her shocked expression. “She is quite renowned in her world for her talents.”
Elle snorted quietly into her breakfast at that, to which Danny responded with a warning look. Unperturbed, Elle smirked right back at him.
Frostbite glanced between all three of them in irritation. “Yes, a formidable human she is, but she has not fought draugrs.”
“Listen to Frostbite, Sam,” Tsuel said. “You do not yet know what you are up against.”
“Then show me,” she snapped. “Or train me, then. I’m not going to learn otherwise.”
Again, the breakfast table fell silent. This time, however, the silence was riddled with tension as the ghosts and yeti shared uneasy glances with each other.
“What is it?” Sam asked in a drawling monotone.
“It is just . . .” Tsuel started and trailed off, shaking her head.
“Those of us who wish to engage in the fighting are trained by Icefang,” Frostbite said.
“And me,” Elle said. Sam expected the ghost girl to be glaring at her, but she wasn’t. She was instead watching Sam carefully, her head tilted in a way that reminded Sam of her twin, and her expression was pensive.
“Yes, and my daughter,” Frostbite agreed. “You may not believe me, but I am not opposed to your learning, especially now that you are now healed enough to do so. But I understand that there is . . .” his muzzled twisted into a grimace, “tension, between you and he.”
“I’d train you myself, human, but I can’t do it without Icefang’s permission,” Elle said, “or I would dishonor what he’s taught me.”
Sam gaped at Elle. “Wait, you would?”
Elle’s face cracked into a wicked grin. “I’m always looking for new sparring partners.”
“Because a human with a sword against a ghost with super strength is a fair matchup,” Sam replied dryly.
Elle’s brows rose. “There’s more to swordplay than strength alone,” she said with a sincerity that, yet again, surprised Sam. “It’s very technical. Like dancing.”
Danny sighed heavily into his tea and said, “Sam has a gun, she doesn’t need a sword.”
“Says the loser who can’t beat his sister in a duel without his powers,” Elle snapped back.
He shrugged. “I don’t know how many times I can say the words archaic and unnecessary before you get them.”
“Maybe because not all of us can use our powers,” Elle said. Then she gestured across the table towards Sam. “Or even have powers, for the matter.”
Sam wanted to ask about Elle’s inability to use her ghost powers, and just as she opened her mouth to voice the question aloud, she decided against it. She was certain it wouldn’t go over well.
Perhaps she’d ask Danny about it the next time she caught him alone. Which was, unfortunately for her nosiness, a rare occurrence.
“Not only is it tradition, but it would be wise for Sam to learn our ways first,” Frostbite said. A strange expression had befallen his features, his icy claws rapping against the wooden top of the table. “It would be impractical to ignore such traditions in favor of clever inventions.”
Danny rolled his eyes and glanced at Sam with a look that said, ‘can you believe this guy?’
“Okay, well, then I guess that leaves us at an impasse then, huh?” Sam said.
“Not necessarily,” Danny said. “I could always take you to Pandora’s realm. She would be thrilled to teach you.”
“That’s actually not a bad idea,” Elle said. “Pandora taught me a lot of what I know.”
Sam was shocked. “You mean, like go to another Realm?”
He nodded and grinned at her. “She wants to meet you anyway. What’s that expression you humans use? Two stones and a bird, or something?”
“It’s killing two birds with one stone,” Sam corrected.
“Well, that’s morbid.” Elle snickered. “I like it.”
“Why the hell does Pandora want to meet me?” Sam asked with an incredulous shake of her head. To say she gobsmacked was a colossal understatement.
At this, Danny’s eyes widened, and he looked away from her, his hand at the back of his neck like he was embarrassed. Sam didn’t miss the sly look that Elle shot him. “Oh, you know, something about the prophetical human who can touch the roses of her realm, and all that.”
“And we circle back to the Writings again,” Sam droned, “great.”
“The Writings are important,” Tsuel admonished, gently elbowing Sam’s side, “do not speak of them as if they are nothing.”
“Tsuel is right,” Frostbite said, “and that is also why Sam must learn our ways first. The Writings foretell of it.”
“Of course they do,” Sam drawled. “It would be too convenient for the plot otherwise.”
“Sam,” Tsuel chided again, “please do not be difficult. We get enough of such antics from the twin cubs.”
Elle raised her mug of tea in Sam’s direction, grinning. “Here, here!”
“Ignore my sister,” Danny said to Sam, “she’s a menace.”
Sam sighed wearily as she raked a hand through her hair. “Icefang hates me.” She ruminated on the feeling of his grip on her throat and the way he’d thrashed her about like a ragdoll and shuddered. “And I’m not his biggest fan either. Fuck that guy.”
“Icefang will teach you if I command it,” Frostbite said, “but I do not wish for it to come to that.”
“Dear cub,” Tsuel said, placing a gentle clawed hand on Sam’s shoulder, “perhaps you should talk to him.”
Sam looked at Tsuel like she’d just sprouted two heads. “Talk to Icefang?”
“Yes. I believe there is much you both may learn, and that it is imperative that you do so.”
Sam shook her head. Unconsciously, her fingers trailed along her neck with the shadow of memory. “So, he can finish killing me? Nooo thank you.”
“Thant won’t happen,” Danny muttered darkly as he stared at her hand. Did she imagine the way his eyes glowed a bit brighter, as if in anger?
“Icefang is a creature of honor,” Frostbite said. “My son is correct that such a thing will not happen.”
Sam leveled the Yeti King with an unimpressed look. “You sure put a lot of faith in honor.”
Suddenly, a rapid pattering of heavy footsteps sounded from the outside corridor, like something—or someone—was running, and a breathless Driftwind appeared in the kitchen’s entryway.
Frostbite stood so fast that his long tail sent his chair tilting and tumbling to the floor. “What is the meaning of this, Driftwind?” he demanded.
“My liege,” Driftwind sputtered through his gasps, claws braced against the wooden frame, “we . . . we are . . . well we—”
“Cease your ramblings and spit it out,” Frostbite growled.
Wild eyed, Driftwind glanced between them all, his large barrel chest rising and falling as he gasped desperately for air. Just how fast had he been running? Sam wondered. A sense of foreboding started to uncoil in the pit of her stomach.
She didn’t know how she knew, but she did, as if the imminence ran bone deep and was laced through every one of her muscle fibers. Without a shadow of a doubt, she knew that something was wrong. Horribly, terribly, wrong.
Their answer came when the entire castle rumbled. Dust fell from stone ceiling, landing like snowfall amidst the spread of breakfast platters. Dishes tumbled. Foxen scattered in a frenzy.
Just as Driftwind shouted, “We are being attacked!”
Everything that happened next came in quick succession.
Tsuel cried out and scrambled to her feet, racing for the door with Driftwind close behind her. Elle’s face hardened as she disappeared in a blur of power. Frostbite’s face darkened as he, too, dashed for the door, but before he disappeared through it, he turned to Danny and said, “Take Sam to her room at once!”
“No!” Sam shouted. “Let me help you guys! I can help!”
“No, Sam, you cannot,” Frostbite said. “They will kill you.”
She watched as Frostbite’s claws began to glow. The energy blossomed and then promptly coalesced into a long, frozen sword that dwarfed Sam in size. His red eyes were hard as he looked at her over his shoulder, long tail flicking and teeth bared, but not at her, she knew. This was a Yeti King ready for war.
“Stay here,” he commanded.
And then he was gone.
Sam immediately whirled to face Danny. “I’m not going to my room.”
He didn’t look happy about it, but said, “Okay.”
She thrust out her hand. “Take me with you. I can help. You know I can.”
“Sam, no. My father is right. You don’t have to go to your room, you can stay here, but—”
“No,” she ground out through gritted teeth.
“Sam, please. I need to go help them.”
He started to float, and she knew he was seconds away from going intangible and disappearing through the ceiling. Without thinking, she grasped his cloak and yanked on it, which didn’t do jack shit to a ghost as strong as he was, though it did keep him from disappearing, his face pained.
With a sigh, he drifted closer and grasped her shoulders, which surprised her, even in her fury. Despite them being on much friendlier terms, Danny still shied away from physical contact as much as possible. She stared up at him through frustrated tears.
“Draugrs don’t attack during the day,” he said. “Daylight is lethal to them. This is an extremely calculated attack, Sam. This is when the market is at its busiest.”
The reality of his words tumbled straight into her heart, making it heavy. “Then I should be out there helping them. Please, Ph—Danny. Please.”
She could tell how much saying his name aloud affected him by the way his grip tightened on her shoulders. He sighed again, laughing a little. “You are probably one of the bravest creatures I have ever met, but my father is right, you aren’t ready for this. Someday, sure. But not now.”
“Brave?” she said with an incredulous laugh. “How can I be brave if I’m in here hiding.”
“You are brave,” Danny countered fiercely. “I remember the fatally injured human who challenged a ghost she was certain was about to kill her.”
“Doesn’t count. That ghost had no intention of killing her or she’d be dead.”
“And that same ghost very much wants her not to die today, too.”
“Kind of a letdown, if you ask me. All that build up and it turns out the ghost that everyone is afraid of is a big softy.”
Before he could retort, the castle shook again, which made more dust fall. Danny shielded them from it with a burst of energy that formed a spiraling green dome above their heads. She couldn’t help but stare at it. Aside from Amity, she’d never seen him use ectoenergy in front of her.
“Sam, I have to go,” he said, his voice booming. She turned her attention back to him and blinked at the way his eyes glowed a bright acidic green. The room chilled considerably as his power eddied. In a voice brimming with that same power, he said, “Stay here.”
She watched with fascination as his entire form bristled with energy and went intangible. She felt the cold, deathlike chill of him brush past her, to the wall, before disappearing completely.
She was now alone.
The moments dragged on as the castle rumbled for the third time. Dishes on the table rattled, some falling to the floor and shattering, and she watched as the vase of Pandorian roses tilted and started to plummet as well.
Sam dove and caught the vase before it hit the ground. A nearby foxen whirled and watched her with wild eyes, its plumed tail spiked with alarm.
“That was a close one, huh?” she asked it.
Its little nose twitched in response, before it turned and dashed for the nearest gap in stone, right behind the rest of the fleeing little creatures.
Sam stared at the green flowers in her hands. They shifted to a brilliant violet as she moved them, and then plunged into a deep, velvety black by the time she returned them to their place at the center of the table. She stared at them for a while, imagining the dark sky they now reminded her of—of the stars and moons and waltzing neons, and of the beautiful world all those things belonged to.
A beautiful world that was now under attack.

Reflecting on some of the posts that I have made and seen in the last couple of weeks, both here on Tumblr and on TikTok, I am increasingly suspicious of anybody that insists that voting is a useless or misdirected effort of energy. Not only have I seen innumerable cases in my state where this is simply not the case, entire sections of the federal government are effectively locked into right-wing positions because Trump won his election. He has entire sections of the appeals system and federal government more broadly aligned with him precisely because of how many nominations he's successfully put forward. Now, this does not mean that Biden or even the Democratic party more generally is going to ride to the rescue, however it speaks to the power that voting results wield.
Not voting is not an effective protest. All you are doing by not voting is saying hey someone else make this decision for me. By not voting you are not actually saying to the system "Hey I'm protesting against you!" At that point you have given the government system cart blanche to fucking ignore you.
I don't know who told you that not voting was anything other than giving up what little power you have to influence your government and therefore how your tax money and society operates on an everyday level. They lied to you. After a certain point there's no nice way to put this.
If you choose not to vote, that is a choice. I view it as an incredibly poor one. I also look at voting third party outside of elections where you know the candidate has no honest to the Gods shot to be a waste of time. You can vote however you want. If you want your vote to be effective then you're going to have to play with the system we've got until we can make a better one. These things take time. If we are being realistic, it is likely more than a few election cycles.
Another thing I have found intensely distasteful this entire election cycle has been from some leftists to sneer at harm reduction, as though opposing Republicans with Democratic candidates is just caving to fascism. Democrats and my State backed up unions and secured a woman's right to choose and secured bodily autonomy not only for women but forLGBTQIA+ folks. Republicans have fought against that.
"Oh but Manchin-" "Oh, but Sinema-"
Are not the whole of the Democratic Party. They were conservative holdouts in a largely center to center right coalition party whose younger constituents are far more left that the old guard. They fucked up some excellent legislation (or at least excellent opportunities) to put us in far better positions through helping to kill the Democrats' Build Back Better Plan and similar legislation.
Trying to punish the Democrats retroactively for not pushing Roe v Wade into law or not fulfilling all their campaign promises, by withholding your vote come the elections is short sighted, retrograde, and ultimately, harmful. It hands power to the Republicans without a fight, and allows them to set the boards for zoning, schools, city council, and so much more. It actively shoots your fellow citizens in the foot so you can feel moral superiority.
It reminds me of folks saying "Well I'm not filing because I am not gonna pay my taxes!" Unless your income is entirely under the table or illegal, or you intentionally changed your contributions, chances are that you were paying taxes this entire time and the only thing you're doing by not filing is potentially fucking yourself.
I get being angry, desperate, and despairing at the state of things, whether the political system, the world more broadly, or whatever issue you hold most dear to your heart. I'm not saying don't be angry, sad, depressed, or raging. I'm saying use it well. If you cannot summon up the give-a-shit on your own case, do it for those around you. Every bit we can do helps, and voting can make a lot of difference in our neighborhoods, and from there, the greater world.
Whether you are reading the missives from various pulpits or you're looking at project 2025, Christofascism is here. Folks have been warning about this for quite a long time, and it is here and it is in full swing. We cannot afford for the Republicans to take over. Heathens, Pagans, magical folks, none of us can afford a Republican victory at this point. Republicans have shown a deep willingness to use the apparatus of the state to harm queer and non-Christian people. They have shown a disdain for the separation of church and state. If you are on the right in this country you should be concerned if you're in any marginalized group. You will not be spared because you're "one of the good ones ".
Did you not see how they treated the Log Cabin Republicans? Did you not see that? Voting red will not save you, it will not make you more palatable. If the Republicans take power and get what they really want through their Christofascism and Project 2025, it does not matter how long you've been a Republican; if you are queer or Pagan you may as well not exist.
Believe me, I am not for a moment stating that Democrats are our saviors. They are a coalition center right political party that we can influence through our lobbying and votes. We can influence them through a variety of other means, including direct action is some have done. Some of you have failed to notice that your direct actions actually were useful! Kamala Harris came right out and said that they were pushing for a ceasefire, after so long of just leaving it off the table entirely. It is not that the narrative cannot be pushed, it is not that we cannot be heard, but you all need to recognize when you are heard and act accordingly without moving the fucking goal posts.
You demanded the administration work on a ceasefire and now they are. That is a victory! However, the Democrats cannot make the Israeli government and the Palestinian government come to a ceasefire. There is also only so much that we can do given the treaties and the alliances that we have. Yes, I know that America has a history of breaking it's treaties and why couldn't we just break this one? Well, because we're just not going to because it's been policy for almost the last 80 years. I just fervently wish the left more generally understood the political process better than it does and realize that we are doing quite a lot to move things along from where they could have been.
If you think for a second that Trump presidency would be better on any of these things you're wrong. That there are some leftists want to sink this project of American democracy simply because they didn't get what they want reminds me a lot of screaming fucking children who want a toy and are going to scream and shout when they don't get it. There's a sincere lack of understanding of the political process that I am seeing right now, especially given what I saw during the primary elections, and is sincere lack of understanding the political process with regards to our position with Israel. Again, I am not saying for a fucking moment don't be angry and don't do everything that you can't tell lobby for the Palestinian people. Engage in whatever diversity of tactics appeals the most to you. Part of having a diversity of tactics is including voting and on the ground diplomatic work. It isn't fun, it isn't sexy, but it's absolutely necessary in the meantime to get us to a place where we can be more effective. I would rather be more effective than being morally pure. I would rather be more effective and do what is possible than see everything around me fucking burn because it isn't just right.
I really do not hold with deontology. As a heathen my ethics are more centered in consequentialism. I care about how the tapestry looks after it's been woven, more than I care about how it has been woven. I will take an imperfect way of getting to the end of a tapestry then the tapestry never getting finished or being finished poor due to constantly unraveling it. There is no way that burning everything down is going to be helpful or effective for most folks. In any case, burning everything down with nothing to replace it leaves folks like me who rely on regular medications like insulin completely fucked. To be sure, the system fucks me and those in my position. It fucks the poor, the disabled, the marginalized. However, not having anything to replace it and just burning everything down, having no complex systems in place to slot into place will do immense, untold amounts of damage. Reforms are not sexy, and but they are how we can continue to live while we do the work needed to make things more equitable, more fair, more just.
I want change. We need to change as a society to become more just, equitable, fair, and to survive in the face of the challenges that we are facing. However, stepping away from the system as a whole, as though you're not going to be wrapped up in it as things go forward, that, to me, is giving up. It's not revolutionary. I would far rather see leftists and left-leaning Heathens and Pagans to flex their vote and their activism locally, to make the changes on the ground that we can where we live, how we live, with the Ginnreginn we live alongside.

I don’t understand how Johnny’s Cobra Kai is different from Kreese and Silver’s when it still employs the same teachings and methods. I find it confusing when people say that Johnny’s Cobra Kai is better, considering it follows the same "Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy" philosophy. I truly believe that Cobra Kai should have ended with its original founders, Terry and Kreese. If anything, Johnny isn’t really the true founder of the dojo. I think he would have been better off collaborating with Daniel, where he could teach offense while Daniel focuses on defense.
Which is basically what they're already doing, and Johnny's Cobra Kai may be better because of it, but, as with everything on the show, "Miyagi-do is defense" is far, far too simplistic. Miyagi-do is self-mastery. It's absolute nonsense that Miyagi-do can't attack. It's about not wanting to attack, and, by being obviously strong, not needing to defend. Or, knowing that because you can handle yourself, not backing down from another because they threaten violence. For being strong enough to be able to walk into Kreese's dojo and cajole him into leaving a vulnerable child alone.
If you go by the first film, Miyagi has never fought in a tournament because To. What. End? I don't think it's a very good style if you simply need to get rid of too much testosteron. It's a focus on building your body, building yourself, but ultimately it is about maintaining other things you have built with that same mindset. Sadly, when the fight comes to you. There will always be people who take the easier route, and who will want power, not to build, but to take from others. Especially if you have built something very, very pretty. Only, if they then come up against a master of Miyagi-do, they'll return home with a lot of bruises, a crushed ego and hopefully some sense. The Hells Yeah! moments in Miyagi-do are when you master a difficult kata, or do something good.
That is diametrically opposed to Johnny's style, which is basically "go and grab what you want, and hit another so hard that they can't stop you getting it." And the reason why that isn't good is that it gets others seriously hurt, and if the other is stronger it will get you seriously hurt. You're lucky if you come up against a Miyagi-do practitioner because they will probably block you long enough until you end up looking very, very silly, or, if you still won't stop, they'll kick you in the nuts and will tie you up, but you'll heal. "If you are too nice people will walk all over you", eh, no? You can be forceful without being violent, and if they then threaten violence, you can hold them off and then say: "As for the point I was making before this little interlude...!" Johnny wants to teach aggression to build confidence, and there is merit in that, but I think Miyagi would want you to build confidence by finding out what you desire to do and going after it. Beating people up is not an end in itself and if it is, yeah, maybe you're better off boxing? Because if the desire solely comes from the win: where do you stop? When your opponent surrenders? But Johnny teaches not to accept surrender! What then? When you're satisfied? Pray when is that? And what about your conscience? That's his entire arc in the first film: him being unable to hurt someone that much, because he understands it isn't worth it. And also, you cannot go around maiming and killing people that's why they set up laws! If you don't know where to stop, others will stop you, and it likely won't be pretty for you. Johnny has no idea when to stop. He says so himself: I don't know how not to fight. OK, Johnny. You already hurt your son by proxy. Robby "finishing the fight" got him a criminal record and would have destroyed Miguel's life. Over what? Some relationship drama. Is that the only way to resolve that? Do you know what Miyagi does when Daniel comes to him, dumped? Does he tell him to go after whoever Ali is dating now? No. He shows Daniel how to make himself feel better! That is the only thing Johnny would have needed to do. After seeing Daniel with Ali, he could have said: "Let's go someplace else." That's it. But that is not what Cobra Kai teaches. "Go get her!" Never mind she didn't want to be got! It's all so limited. What if Miguel had kicked Robby off the balcony in S5, huh? "No Mercy"? Just because they can't be civil at dinner? Is that worth a broken back?
Again, Johnny's style teaches you no way to put on the brakes. Miyagi's style is to not start violence, and if there is no other way, stop as soon as you can. And even if the only way to stop someone is to kill them, you then do not set out to kill another!

Listen you said as many as I wanted, you said that:
“Baby,” Boyd said, taking Raylan’s face in his hands. “We’re going to be fine.” He was talking true here, Raylan knew, but his expression changed and he didn’t look him in the eyes as he added, “It’s easy to start over with that kind of money. We wouldn’t even have to go nowhere--”
“And watch them rip apart the hills? Pollute your precious hollers?” Raylan hissed, pulling away. He couldn’t talk about it without getting pissed. His head hurt so fucking much.
“Raylan--”
“Later,” Raylan said, pulling out his phone. “I wish you’d’ve said something, really, because I have to call Art now. Her wanting the property puts me far enough in this shit that I can’t be a part of the detail. It’s a conflict of interest, no matter what we do now.”
“What we do?” Boyd asked quietly. “It’s still just your land, Raylan.”
“Fuck off, Boyd,” Raylan growled. “I’d have married you years ago if that was something we could do.”
Boyd leaned back in his chair, eyes wide, at that and Raylan wondered if that was something he shouldn’t have said when they were fake fighting like this.
They stared at each other for a solid minute at least and Raylan couldn’t hold it in anymore. He said, “I’m sorry I said, fuck off and then that, I--”
Boyd smiled and shook his head. “Go make your phone call, baby.” He didn’t even add anything about the fake argument. “Tell Art--”
Omggggg. I'm SO glad you picked this to ask about because just right before this part is one of my favorite exchanges I have ever written. It's basically what I now think of the thesis of this entire fic series. Boyd and Raylan could never have come this far together if not for Raylan letting Boyd live in his house and nest in his heart and refuse to leave. Okay??
This part:
“We can start over,” Boyd said. “We’re good at that.” Raylan looked at him like he was crazy. “No, we’re not.” They’d never started over at anything. The only reason any of this was happening was because of the house, that they needed, because they couldn’t make a change without a crutch. It was just built up and built up from everything that happened before and the house was the foundation.
And then Raylan spirals because he can't see a way out of this situation even though he knows Boyd is actively taking it in hand. (He's going to figure it out, Raylan!!) And part of Boyd's plan is to get this exact reaction from Raylan, because he needs to convince Carol Johnson he really is on her side and also make things difficult for her because Raylan is so adamantly opposed to selling. But! He doesn't expect Raylan to profess his unshakeable commitment to their relationship in that very moment!
Boyd in this fic, even up until now, does not think about the house in Harlan as theirs, per se. It's Raylan's house. Always has been. He thinks of their apartment in Lexington way more as something they share. But he spent so much time over the years working on the house, specifically FOR RAYLAN, that it's like really hard for him to take on any kind of ownership for himself until Raylan is like, yeah but we would be married by now???? If life was fair??? SO ITS YOUR HOUSE TOO BOYD.
I'm also like perpetually *kisses fingers* at myself for immediately having Raylan apologize. He's Just! So! Hungover! that he cannot control his mouth or his emotions and they are all over the place because he is so! pissed! off! at Carol Johnson! This "oh shit I really said that just now" moment for Raylan is so funny and sweet. I love them so muchhh.
AND THEN THEY GET INTERRUPTED.
Anyway this is a great little collection of scenes and writing about how good it is is actively making me want to rewatch through season 2 so I can try and fucking untangle what needs to happen to end this beautiful story! AND THEN I want to write several little short fics about parenting Loretta and getting married for real and and and

FSS3 Episode 16: A fight worth fighting for
Thomas is finally mature enough to better understand how his instinctual system works.

DISCLAIMER: As said in the introductory post, Fanders Sides Season 3 (season 2 finale included) could have triggering themes/scenes. Please keep that in mind before reading.
_______________________________
Thomas is going back home. He went to the callback for the hero’s role, did his performance and the production team loved it. Now they told him they will contact him as soon as possible with further information.
Thomas is a bit nervous, while he recollects what happened. But he knows he did his best: he followed Logan’s schedule and trained with Roman and Remus almost every day. Still, will this be enough to grant him the hero’s role?
Logan appears next to him, walking with Thomas: it’s not up to them to decide but to the director. However, he checked all performances and no one had the same intensity Thomas had.
Roman appears on Thomas’ left, with a huge smile. They did great indeed! And the director probably noticed too!
Logan warns Roman: do not get your hopes too high, we’re not the ones who decide.
But if the director is clever, he will give the role to Thomas, Roman insists.
Logan agrees. Still, he warns Thomas to not celebrate his victory too soon.
Thomas nods in silent confirmation, then he gets distracted by some voices: he turns around and notices a man and a woman arguing. The man is screaming at the woman, hits her with the side of her own bag and accuses her of taking too long to get dressed. For her part, the woman barely tries to say anything, she makes herself smaller and apologizes with a little voice, while he loudly complains.
Thomas rolls his eyes and diverts his gaze. Logan does the same: these men are just insufferable, he comments. Such tiny egos, they need to show off their strength to prove how “manly” they are. Roman crosses his arms and says that man is pathetic.
Thomas stops and turns around, looking at the couple again.
Virgil appears closer to Thomas and tells him to go away: they don’t know these people, they don’t know what they’re talking about and they don’t know their dynamic. If Thomas gets involved, he could be accused of sticking his nose into other people’s business. Also, the man is much bigger and stronger than him, so what could he ever do?
Thomas murmurs that yes, Virgil’s right: leaving is the most reasonable thing to do. He tries to turn away again, but Anger’s voice suddenly resonates and says just one word: “no”.
Virgil is saying something else, but his words are muffled. The rest of the world is muffled. All Thomas can see is Anger standing in front of him and all he can hear is the discussion between the man and the woman.
Anger’s eyes are burning of a bright orange, his make-up looks like real flames. He lifts a hand, grabs Thomas’ chin and turns his face towards the couple.
There is a man, he says and his voice is the only thing that can overcome the couple’s voices. And this man is hitting a woman. A woman who cannot oppose him because he’s much bigger than her. And he has no valid reason to do it and we both know he won’t stop.
(His voice gets louder)
Is this something that doesn’t need any help? Is this something that makes you turn away? Is this a fight not worth fighting for?!
(His voice rises, his tone gets louder)
What are you? A person or a fucking coward? Are you okay with this? Are you REALLY OKAY WITH THIS?
And then, the man slaps the woman.
Without thinking anymore, Thomas just runs towards them and pushes the guy away with all of his strength. The man looks surprised, Thomas is furious: he tells him that if he wants to pick a fight, he can do it with him.
The man looks at Thomas from head to toe, with a disgusted face. Without wasting too much time, he pushes Thomas away and tells him to mind his own fucking business. He’s not talking to him, he’s talking to that bitch.
Thomas stands between them again. The man’s voice gets louder, he accuses her of cheating him with Thomas, calls her names, calls Thomas names. He pushes him away again and Thomas grabs his arm, trying to stop him.
The man lifts a fist toward Thomas and the world, suddenly, slows down.
Behind the guy and his fist, Thomas sees Janus looking at him. The snake eye is glowing with a bright yellow. Janus opens his mouth and, despite the distance between them, Thomas can hear his voice as if he’s murmuring inside his mind (which is exactly what he’s doing).
Janus says one thing only: danger.
With the corner of his eye, Thomas notices Remus on his left: Remus snaps his fingers and his face gets replaced by images of the man’s fist hitting Thomas’ nose, blood, his teeth falling from his mouth, Thomas falling on the ground, another punch, a kick in the stomach, the man’s feet while he stomps on him, more blood on the concrete.
The camera moves to the side to show Virgil standing behind Thomas: his eyeshadow gets darker, he closes his hands into fists and looks ahead, the face of a man ready to fight.
And then, we see Thomas’ eyes: they are burning with a bright orange. He grits his teeth, tightens his grip on the man’s arm and pushes it against the man with all his strength.
It’s not a particularly strong push, but it’s enough for his fist to miss Thomas’ head. Thomas lets the man go and retreats. The woman starts to cry for help and a lot more people approach: some get closer, another man intervenes to calm down the big guy, someone else calls the police.
Thomas turns around: a police officer comes and starts talking with the woman. She tells him something, then the officer moves to her partner.
More people come, someone records everything with a cellphone. Thomas moves back again. He notices the woman looking at him and opening his mouth to tell him something: he just waves a hand in a silent “no problem” and walks away.
°
Thomas is lying on the couch, still trying to process everything that happened. The Sides are all around him.
Roman revels in what they just did: Thomas was a true hero! He defeated the enemy and saved the damsel in distress! Okay, he didn’t defeat the hero and the damsel saved herself, but he… tried his best? And he left all in one piece, so that’s a win.
Patton agrees and confirms that he’s very proud of Thomas. That was the right thing to do. And even if he didn’t win the man in a heroic battle, he gained enough time, to attract more people and even the police. So at least they can be sure the woman is in better hands, now.
Logan approves as well: the man’s violence (as well as violence in general) was not justifiable and the woman was in clear distress. That guy had to be stopped. And Thomas did it, even without using the same blind violence. He should be very proud of himself and of his self-control.
Thomas sits. He still feels like everything was a dream, but he knows that wasn’t just him doing this. He looks at Janus: that wasn’t just him, that was… something else.
Janus tilts his head. Did Thomas really think his Instinctual Sides work like the Core Sides? That they just throw suggestions and wait for Thomas to react?
If they worked this way, Thomas would’ve died hundreds of times, Virgil says.
They bypass the system, Logan explains. When Thomas faces any danger, they take control and push him to action directly, without asking and without questions.
Thomas looks at Virgil. He saw his tempest tongue in the past and he thought that was all they could do.
Virgil rolls his eyes. Yes, sure, he can use that too. In dangerous situations, this is how he pushes Thomas to action.
But today was different, Thomas says. It wasn’t just you… it was…
Coordinated?, Janus suggests. Today they worked together like they did in the past - but now, since Thomas is aware of their existence, for the first time he saw them doing it. They recognized the danger, warned Thomas about it (Janus indicates Remus), gave him the push to react (indicates Anger) and made him react accordingly (indicates Virgil).
Thomas gives them a worried look. So they can make him do things just like that? He could go into a fight just because they want to?
Of course not, Janus replies. Everything they do is something Thomas wants to do.
But I didn’t want to, Thomas replies. Not at first. I wanted to leave, but then…
He looks up and meets Anger’s gaze. Anger looks at him with a challenging expression. Yes, you wanted to run away, before I stopped you, he says. Because running away would’ve made you feel like a useless piece of shit. Because you knew this was a fight worth fighting for.
Still, Anger complains turning to Janus, they could’ve done something to be safer, like hitting the guy. A good, strong punch in the face and he would’ve learned his lesson.
Or hit Thomas back, Janus replies. And since that man was stronger, he would’ve hurt a lot more.
Can’t live life with some risks, Anger replies with a devilish grin, it would’ve been fun.
Janus insists that this would’ve put Thomas in unnecessary danger. Their job is to protect and react to dangers, not attack everyone just to have fun.
Anger scoffs and drops the pretense: okay, fine, you’re right. This is our job.
Thomas still looks at him with his head tilted and a suspicious expression: his Anger seems too into the idea of hitting people. After all, he already pushed Thomas to hit Hugo, Nico’s friend. What if he decides Thomas should go around punching everyone?
Janus snaps his finger in front of Thomas’ face: he just told him they only do what Thomas wants to do! And their role is to protect him, not put him in danger!
Logan intervenes: Anger is not violence. Anger is an emotion, violence is an action. You can be violent without being angry, the two things aren’t always related. Just think of the revolts all over the world and during the centuries, of all the minority groups who asked and fought for changes - women, people of color, queer people. Not all these revolutions involved violence, but all of them started because people were angry and wanted to change the system.
But still, violence is closely related to anger, Thomas says. And he (with a nod towards Anger) likes violence a bit too much.
Anger gives him another villainy smile and says he loves seeing violent stuff. It makes him feel so much better.
Thomas immediately opens his mouth to talk, but Logan stops him: no, that doesn’t mean Anger is evil and you’re not a bad guy. This is called catharsis: seeing bad things is a way to “purify” your soul from them. By seeing these bad things in a movie, in a play, in a book or a video game, you won’t feel the push to replicate them in real life.
So no, seeing violent stuff doesn’t make you violent. On the contrary, it makes you much calmer and much more aware of how to avoid violence in real life. Just like you did before, by pushing the man away and backing up immediately.
Thomas thinks about it, then gives a small laugh. During his life, every time he felt he was being pushed down, every time someone stepped over him, Anger made him react. And every time he reacted, his mind cleared. And every time his mind cleared, everything was much easier to understand.
Yes, he confirms. If he didn’t intervene before, now he would feel like a useless piece of shit. That really was a fight worth fighting for, like Anger said. And Anger knew right from the start, even before Thomas.
Just like he knew it was right to let Roman have his outburst without stopping him. Just like he knew it was right to break Logan until he would reveal everything he had hidden inside.
Thomas holds out a hand.
Maybe he still doesn’t fully understand everything Anger can do, but he wants to try his best to do it. Anger helped with Roman and Logan, but Thomas still has a lot of issues to solve in his life and he needs someone who will give him the motivation to do it.
He doesn’t want to make other huge mistakes. He doesn’t want to leave any other Side behind. Never again.
Anger looks at his hand. Never again, Thomas repeats.
Anger looks at him, no smile, no expression. Just stare at him, searching for the truth. Thomas holds his gaze.
And so, Anger drops the villainy smile and the provocative demeanor and says a name. His name. He just says it. For the sake of this writing, I will use the name Caius - but you can imagine whatever name you like.
Thomas’ firm expression morphs into surprise, he clearly didn’t expect him to just say his name like that. But then, he smiles and says “Nice to meet you, Caius”.
Caius replies with a “Nice to meet you, Thomas” and shakes his hand.

END CARD
Thomas is checking his social media and some people are tagging him in a video: it’s about what happened that afternoon. The video shows Thomas standing between the man and the woman, the man threatening him and calling him names, Thomas pushing him and backing away.
Between the comments, there is one from the woman herself. She explains how toxic their relationship was and how sad she felt. Now she broke up with him, left his house and she’s in a safer place. She thanks all the people who helped her, the police officer and especially the guy who intervened first. She wanted to ask his name, but he left before she could talk to him.
A few people already replied by telling her his name, so Thomas writes a comment too. He says he just did the right thing and that he’s happy she’s now safe. He wishes her the best and hopes the man will learn his lesson, as far away from her as possible.
Thomas gets up from the couch and takes a drink. When he comes back, his phone starts ringing. He answers without even looking and, on the other side, Nico’s voice greets him.
Thomas is very surprised. He looks at the name but yes, it’s really Nico.
Nico jokes that oh, so this is how Thomas wanted to improve himself? By getting almost punched by a guy twice as big as him? Gosh, Nico wanted him to solve his problems, not to go to the hospital.
Thomas jokes as well: all he got was some threats and a few pushes, but between the two of them, he was the scared one. Did Nico watch the video? He looks like a scared kitten!
The two joke about the whole event. Despite his sarcasm and the jokes, Nico’s voice shows how worried he was, so Thomas reassures him: he’s okay, everything is fine, the woman is alright and he is alright. Nico confirms he read the comments too, included Thomas’ recent one. He’s glad Thomas is okay.
I am, Thomas confirms. He just felt he had to intervene. He couldn’t leave that woman to deal with that guy. It was a fight worth fighting for.
Then, he apologizes. Nico was right, he needed to figure things out by himself. Only Thomas can solve Thomas’ problems. And he wants to keep doing it: he wants to become the man Nico deserves.
Even if he can’t see him, Thomas can hear Nico smiling. In that case, he suggests, maybe they can meet again. Possibly, before Thomas ends up in a hospital.
The two laugh together, then plan a date for the next week.

AUTHOR’S NOTE
Showing how the Instinctual Sides work together helped me show how useful they are and how, (compared to the Core Sides), they are much more coordinated. Especially now, that the mind is more balanced and Virgil and Janus are back on good terms.
We also needed a small discussion about Anger and violence. We saw him being a good guy and a schemer and a villain too, but violence has never been addressed. It was time to do it. And thanks to the strongest power of all (i.e. the power of logic), Thomas easily understood that oh, so the guy isn’t a threat either.
And this proves how much Thomas grew too. In DWIT, Thomas accepted Remus’ presence, but he was still wary of him because he didn’t know him fully. Now he can accept Anger (even without knowing everything about him), because he saw what he did and realizes how many times he was actually very helpful.
Also, Thomas’ words about how after Anger’s effect, his mind was cleared help me explain why Anger and Logan work so well together: anger’s effect really clears the mind. And once the mind is clearer, logic is “louder” - i.e. more evident, easier to see..
Speaking of his name: I know there are a ton of amazing names out there, but we all know Anger’s name should refer to something Rome-related and end with -s (-us/-es probably?).
So yes, I would’ve LOVED to use the name Cronus, but Cronus is the Greek god of time. The Roman variant is Saturn, which doesn’t follow the “-us” scheme.
So I decided to move on to the “most important Roman leaders” category. And of course the most important one was Julius Caesar.
However, I didn’t use the name Julius, because there’s already another Side whose name starts with J- and didn’t want to give them the same initial.
And so, I chose Caesar’s first name: Caius.
Yes, I know the correct name should be “Gaius” because that’s the right transliteration. However, I still chose Caius for two stupid reasons:
1) Virgil is the shorter version of Vergilius, Caius is the wrong version of Gaius. They both share a name with a twist. So not only they’re connected by this, but Caius is the trait-d’union between Virgil and the other Instinctual Sides.
2) Caius as a name is very similar to Cain and Cain is the firstborn son of Adam and Eve, the one who killed his brother. So he was both the first human born and the first murderer. Which is sad, but also pretty cool. And I loved the idea of this assonance between their names.
Okay, but seriously: why did I choose this name in particular for Anger? Simple, to emphasize his strategic abilities. Caesar was a general, a politician, a strategist, a man of culture, a dictator. His name is still remembered as a great figure, his actions influenced Rome’s history and, as Wikipedia perfectly explains: “He played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire.”
So, Caesar is an essential figure. Someone you cannot leave behind. Someone who plays a fundamental role. This is basically what Anger did for the whole series. He was there, both in the front and the back, both scheming and fighting. And he was essential to lead to Thomas’ breakdown and his following rise.
Just as Caesar changed Rome, Anger changed Thomas. Hence I chose the name Caius for him. After all, let’s not forget that none of the Instinctual Side has a name that refers to their first role: why should he, then?

If Spook and Huuxi are the embodiment of Yin and Yang, then why they are fighting against each other instead of working together? Yin and Yang are two forces who are complementary opposites that need to collaborate and contribute to the world in a coequal way. The Yin-Yang symbol is intended to represent how the two forces constantly flow around each other, always coexisting harmoniously. In fact, when one overpowers the other, the imbalance always causes problems. They have to coexist in harmony, because they actually dependent on one another for each other's distinguishable existence. Within one lies another and vice versa because these two opposites are not independent from one another, but rather two sides of the same unifying force throughout all world. Yin and Yang are two sides of the same coin and both need to exist side by side. It is when they are at equilibrium, that the world is stable and balanced. If they are the embodiment of Yin and Yang, this mean that they were supposed to work together insted of fight against each other.
What you talk about is just one example of yin-yang. From what I've researched, there are different examples of it, though at the core, they all represent balance that is found in two opposites that are equal to each other.
It's actually why for the most iconic yin-yang pairs, there are two. Though both agree that Dragon is going to be apart of the pairs either way, often always representing yang.
Dragon and Fenghaung represent that ideal yin-yang that you describe, where they're opposites that exist in harmony to each other, covering the other's weakness/what they lack, and working together. They are the ideal union.

What I am working off is more the rivalry of opposites yet cannot live without the other, which is seen in Dragon and Tiger.
These two represent opposing forces that cannot exist without the other, but can't help but clash which leads to a never ending cycle of trying to overpower the other, but they cannot as they're equal in power (base for these two is often order and chaos). The Tiger wants to bring about change, while the Dragon wants things to stay as they are, which does echo what everyone does need, you do need changes in your life, but you also need that stability. And too much of one is bad (too much order becomes stagnant and constricting, but too much chaos leads to a loss of foundation and getting overwhelmed).
This is what Huuxi and Spook are tied to, though I will say they aren't fighting/enemies. They're more neutral rivals, they easily get under each other's skin, as they embody and echo their nature.
Huuxi likes stability, likes to have things go as expected, he likes things to be orderly, to have rules, to have a sense of control and knowing what's going to happen, to plan for what's to come. He wants absolute harmony. He dislikes unpredictability and is wary of anything new/unexpected.
Spook in turn is a free spirit, she likes to live by whims, likes to explore, live in the moment, and when things are stale, she likes to shake things up. Change is a challenge but change can be good for growth. She dislikes rules and restrictions, rolls her eyes at elaborate plans and rather just play things by ears.
And that at the core is what leads to them butting heads/getting annoyed with each other/disagreeing. They're opposites in how they function, and those themes of Order and Chaos are big ones to work off of, and can be great in harmony but are still a clashing pair. When it comes to it, Huuxi and Spook will work together, they secure the ideal harmony, and they cover what the other lacks.
To add to it, Dragon and Tiger represent the more diverse yin-yang pair off, where they can be each other's greatest enemy to greatest ally to even the most ideal soulmate pair (specifically within the Zodiac).
So that's the yin-yang I'm working off of, and between the two large examples, it's the pair I like more for the Miraculous. And Huuxi and Spook aren't enemies at each other's throat, but they do squabble and butt heads as they represent those clashes forces that balance each other out.

𝐥𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐲 & 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲
I couldn't stop thinking about this today, so I had to finally write it up, but recently I found a meme that jokingly stated something along the lines of “I cannot stop moving or doing things or I will spiral into a pit of despair” and it made me think of Luffy and specifically his lack of ever talking about his past or how he really feels about things.
Luffy is both a character that has so many expressions and feelings, but can also be one of the least expressive. He actively shows all forms of excitement and joy, and he isn’t opposed to showing a fierce anger either, but something that doesn’t come out as often is his sadness, grief, and despair. And even less so is his willingness to ever talk about the moments in his life that have caused those feelings. His heart is open to taking in friends and their pain and past as it comes, but it is almost entirely closed when it comes to letting others help with his own past burdens.
The straw hat captain doesn’t like to dwell on anyone's past, this is evident from the first saga in the East Blue when he does his best to meet Nami where she is at, rather than prodding her for information about who she is. That information comes out on its own, because other people tell him despite saying he doesn’t care. But possibly the stem of this: Luffy doesn’t like to think about his own past.
It’s not so much that he won’t talk about his feelings regarding things from his past or tell people about it, it’s that he actively will not allow himself to have those sorts of feelings or even think about these things. He fills his time awake doing anything and everything, pushing himself to be actively thinking about something else in the moment, whether that’s food, playing games, being in the presence of his friends, taking care of and protecting people from their problems, fighting, etc. Luffy cannot stop moving or doing things, because if he does he will inevitably fall into a dark mental spiral. So whether actively or subconsciously, he chooses to live in the moment and only look ahead to the future. The rare moments when he does snap and break and panic or wail are moments when he is forced to face the truths he is doing his best to push deep down.
Knowing this, yes, it will be very rare for writing on this blog to include Luffy exploring his emotions on situations without heavy plotting beforehand. He is a closed book who would rather pretend that everything is fine – which to some degree is what he honestly believes. As long as he has his friends and loved ones, he believes there’s no reason to dwell on the sadness or pains of the past, so unless something is going horribly wrong in the moment, he genuinely thinks he’s fine, that everything is fine, and there isn’t any reason to not be happy.
At least, that’s the lie he tells himself.

1, 2, and 11!
This got a lot longer than I meant it to oops
1. The Chosen One—What first drew you(or what would draw you) to your darling/yandere, your divine figure? Their power, their beauty, or the way they make you feel like their sole worshipper? Something else entirely?
It's difficult to put a finger on, actually. I think it might just be a way that they're put together? Not a sole trait, but rather how the traits manifest in combination.
Just... a certain "it" factor? Maybe?
I actually had a thought on this recently (though put into metaphor), and that being something that while no guarantee would be something to increase the chances.
Imagine two dogs.
One is this constantly agitated, feral thing. Bites when you get too close or move too fast. Barks when it senses something off, even if it's only paranoia as opposed to reality. One that doesn't listen to commands without whole trust.
Behind it, a puppy who is constantly crying. The dog knows it cannot comfort the puppy, but can at least keep it safe. Even if that puppy doesn't get the affection or care that it needs? It will, in some way at least, be safe.
It takes very specific kinds of people to soothe the dog, and hence also soothe the puppy. And not a lot of people have that ability, or the patience to maintain that the dog feels safe enough to give them continued access to the puppy.
But if they can manage it, they're both very, very good dogs.
2. Unholy Obsession—What’s the one “sin” you’ve committed(or would commit) that you know your darling/yandere would punish you for, yet you can’t stop doing?
... this answer doesn't apply to now, but it does make me think of a pattern I had with my six year ex
I'm the sort who is unapologetically myself. But because I'm not normal (far from it), that made him experience a second hand embarrassment. It would be over anything- stuttering and being unsure at the DMV (as I do when I'm nervous), certain jokes I made around friends (mind you, I didn't even make any outrageous ones or ones that were inappropriate for the crowd), honestly too many for me to count.
He'd pick fights over it. Then again, he's also openly admitted to picking fights when he's bored. He claimed that telling me to try and mask was his attempt at protecting me.
I think the fact my natural state of self wards off people who don't like it does just fine.
11. Divine Wrath—What’s one thing you’d never do, even if your darling/yandere demanded it?
Anything to do with harming children. Or, anything to do with harming my family. Or cutting them off.
That last one my ex tried to subtly get me to do by trying to convince me that infrequent contact was them not caring about me. Actions speak a lot louder than words (like my aunt letting me move back in a little under a year ago now) (damn where does the time go?)
Oh, and forcing submission out of me. My submission in any way, shape or form is a gift. Not a guarantee.

Quiet Time 2/2
Divine order of relationships
"The best decision you can make is to submit to God's order...Because, unlike your friends, family, or yourself, God is perfect. He knows exactly what you need, and He wants to give it to you. And He will give it to you if you live within His order."
What does the call to submit trigger in you?
It means to me that my plans will not always come true. That there may be some things that I desire, but by God's word, I'm not supposed to give in to it. In cases of following the word, I think it's a heart and conviction issue. I need to view sin the same way that God does, and that way, my temptation to give in will lessen/disappear. The more I choose God's way over my own, the easier it'll be (just like when you develop any other habit). As for submitting my plans, when things don't go the way I originally planned, I'm initially disappointed. However, I tend to find comfort in knowing that it was just not meant to be (an "it is what it is" mentality).
Do you really believe with all your heart that God's order is good and provides a secure framework for your life?
Yes, I do. Mainly because wouldn't it suck if there was absolutely no reasoning for why all the things happen in your life? Everything good, you can thank God. And everything bad, though you may not understand it as it's occurring, happens for a reason. Additionally, you can find comfort in:
Jeremiah 29: 11-14
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and I will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."
James 4:1-10 (Submit Yourselves to God)
"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet, but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
When we ask God for anything, we cannot have ulterior motives. We cannot ask Him for anything that it not righteous, that does not align with who He is. Furthermore, I believe that God doesn't have to give us anything we ask for. He promised that He would give us everything we need. I know that I have everything I need, and whatever I ask of God is what I want, but He is under no obligation to give me that. Therefore when He does, I can rejoice and thank Him. And when He doesn't, I understand that He did not need to answer, or it was for the better, within His plans.
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
We cannot still be living and the world and living for God. You cannot have one foot in both doors. What is the point? You wish to be saved and have a God, but you refuse to obey His commands and continue in your sin without repentance? Either stay in the world or submit fully to God. He wants you to seek Him with all of your heart, not just some of it.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
I love that it says, "resist the devil, and he will flee from you." The devil only has power because we allow it. Because we allow ourselves to fall into sin. He tempts us, sure, but we have free will. There's no forcing on either side. If we resist him, he will leave us (though, that is not to say that he won't still try to get you to stumble). We are bound to make mistakes, and God knows that. What matters is where our hearts are. When we go after God fully, He will forgive us when we repent and keep us near.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, God, thank you for this quiet time that I had this morning. It served as a good reminder of the importance of submitting to you and seeking you, because you have everything already planned out for me. What is the point in my worrying when I believe everything will turn out the way that you have planned? Lord, thank you for another day of life! Thank you for the day I had yesterday, thank you for bible talk last night, thank you for the time I got to spend with my family. And thank you for this platform, I really believe this will benefit my walk with you and that it will help others as well. God, please forgive me for the bitterness that I hold in my heart. There's someone, you know, that I have mixed feelings and I've become angry and petty. I don't want to be that way towards him, but every time I think about being amicable, my bitterness overtakes me and says, if he's not able to do the same, then why should I? Why should I be the first to make amends? And the pettiness comes in when I say that I'm just following his lead and example. I'm merely just acting the same way he is, mirroring him. Do I need to forgive him? I feel that in order to do that we need to talk, but with the state of how things are that won't happen and it's just spurring on my bitterness. God, I just pray that you aid my heart in this area. That you soften it and help me let go of my frustrations with this person. Lord God, I want to continue praying for my heart in other areas as well. I don't want to feel so numb. I have no desire to continue on with my life. Everything in my life just feels like an obligation that I need to fulfill. I feel that I'm pulled in all directions and I get no rest (even though I know I sleep enough). But, God, I'm so tired. I'm just so tired and I want to give up. Nothing appeals to me in my life anymore. It feels like I'm in a simulation, and everything just repeats itself day after day after day, and I'm exhausted. I know my strength in all of this should be you, but how? How do I get past the desire to just give up on life? Please, God, I need your help! God, I also do want to pray for my family, my father especially. His doctor called yesterday saying that he wants him to come in as soon as he can because of the results of his echo. He'll be going to the doctor on Sunday, and I want to be there for him. I'm hoping it can be possible, but I wouldn't want to miss church. Lord, I'm praying that you're able to work that out. I also want to pray for my ultrasound that's in less than an hour. I pray they are able to find the source of my pain and that everything can get resolved promptly. I also pray for the rest of my day as I will most likely have to go to work right after. I also pray that I'm able to have a productive conversation about devo. I pray that you are with me through the rest of my day. That I may keep your Word and commands on my heart. I love you dearly. I pray this in Jesus name, Amén.

Going to the club - MultiMuse x Fem!Reader
Pairing: Multimuse x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, fighting, blackout drunkeness. Nothing too serious though.
Type: Blerps a little sprinkle of HC
Request: N/A
Word Count: N/A
Prompt: Going to the club with the muses and how they’d react or feel and what they’d do. Just a little messy fic, trying to get my creative juices back.
Notes: I pledge allegiance to Sean Paul.
Jason Voorhees: What a lost little baby, he doesn’t like the loud music or the bright lights at all. He’s kind of frozen, just standing by your side, it’s so hard to keep up with you. He likes to watch you dance and enjoy yourself though, but he starts to zone in and out as the night goes on. If you get him used to it, he slowly would become used to the surroundings and eventually would come out of his shell. It’d be so cute to watch Jason dance around in his little corner with his colorful drink that’s too small for his hands.
Michael Myers: Will not move at all, no matter how much you bump your hips into him, trying to get him to dance with you. Michael will follow you anywhere, but that doesn’t mean he has to participate. You may be getting drinks and he’d be standing right beside you, but even turning your back for a second, he’s gone. You’ve gotten used to that. When you’re dancing on the floor, you then catch a glance of a familiar mask. It’s nothing that you’re not used to, but it definitely would be more fun if you got him to budge, either way, rest assured yours and your friends’ drinks are safe with him.
Tiffany Valentine: LOOOVES IT. Would go to the club every night if you asked. Dressing up would absolutely be her favorite part. Tiffany would love to help you with your make up and choosing your outfit. If you’re really about it, she would pregame with you. She would encourage you to drink s o m u c h. If you meet her energy, you absolutely have to plan for after, getting food and getting home, however if you don’t then you may have to take care of her even a little into the next morning. It’s not anything new to you two. Tiffany definitely loves to have fun and going to the club, dancing and drinking without a care in the world would be one of the best date ideas you could come up with.
Billy Loomis: Is literally only down because he wants to see you in a short skirt or dress. That’s it. He likes the drinking too, but nothing that can compare to a horror movie party at Stu’s. Billy wouldn’t suggest going to the club, but he wouldn’t oppose to it. Would watch you get ready, staring you down from the corner of the bed as you put your make up on. He’s pretty much only drinking at the club and watching you get loose, swaying back and forth with hair tangling across your face without any rhythm. It’s kind of cute and kind of hot.
Stu Macher: Would love to go with you, he may not be as enthusiastic as Tiffany, but he loves to drink. When would Stu ever miss the opportunity to see you get dressed up and drunk? If he ever does, he made you promise him to shoot him. Stu would not be shy to let loose with you, ordering drink after drink, dancing until you literally cannot stand anymore. If the crowd matched his energy, you’d catch him climbing the stage and pretending like he’s grinding on the pole fully dressed. The headaches incoming are going to be gnarly, who’s turn was it to take care of the other this time?
Patrick Bateman: Is used to going to bars and clubs of all sorts, mainly high end ones. Patrick wouldn’t say no to your suggestion, not opposed to having a drink or two. You wouldn’t catch him shitfaced though. He kind of is just there to make sure you don’t get out of hand and embarrass him, but at the same time, he’s there to show you off knowing his friends would have a thought or two of lust cross their minds. He’d be an excellent caretaker for a hangover though, he knows exactly what to do but he also wouldn’t be accommodating to your circumstances, after all he warned you after the fourth drink you ordered.
Leatherface: Also kind of a baby, but an excited baby. At first he’d be scared, absolutely, but after some reassurance and encouragement, he’d be dancing next to you feeling the beat of the music. He doesn’t like the taste of alcohol, but he doesn’t really need liquid courage to sway his little hips around. He would be an excellent hangover caretaker, always making sure you had enough cold rags on your forehead and water. Of course he’d be ready to go next weekend, he didn’t have to deal with that headache.
Harley Quinn: LIIIIVES to go have fun and going to club with you sounds like the perfect night. Dressing up and putting on makeup is definitely fun, but actually getting there and dancing and drinking is the highlight of the night. You never have to worry about any creeps when you’re with Harley. Some nights you get shitfaced, why even hide it. Either way, I would say Harley would probably be the most fun out of the list to go clubbing with. Waking up in an alley is not totally unusual, but most of the nights you make it home safely, whether it’s back home or back to Ivy’s. Usually Ivy is the one nursing you both back to health.
Poison Ivy: Would get a little drink or two, but mainly is looking out for you and Harley and Selina. Not that she would absolutely have to, but she likes to be a little more on the cautious side when it comes to you three. Not to mention Ivy would be the one alongside Selina to make sure you four look stunning. Ivy would absolutely dance with you for a few songs before going back to your table. 10/10 Would be ordering bottle service. Not a fan of you guys going home with anyone, but wouldn’t stop you unless she had a reason to.
Bruce Wayne: Doesn’t like the clubbing scene too much but will go with you. He has a playboy appearance to keep up with anyway. He would definitely use this as an opportunity to get some intel that maybe batman couldn’t. Orders drinks for everyone at his table to seem drunker than he is, but really he’s trying to figure out why a certain ambassador is visiting the grimy scene of Gotham’s underground club. Won’t dance though, as much as you want to get him to. He’s content at the table keeping an eye on you as you sway around in the center.
Jason Todd: All for it. Can’t guarantee that there won’t be a bar fight because someone touched you or someone you’re with. Other than having to be cautious with Jason’s temperament, it’d be pretty fun. He doesn’t mind the music or the drinking, it’s the time to let loose and have fun. Honestly, to your surprise Jason is a pretty good dancer. Hope you’re not the jealous type because he definitely has hungry eyes all on him. Jason doesn’t get drunk too easily, but he’s a bit of a baby when it comes to the hang overs. After a few painkillers, he’s ready to go again until you’re the one yelling at him to lay down.
Steve Rogers: Actually kind of down. Would help you choose your outfits and whether he admits it or not, he would try to match you, whatever you were wearing. Steve actually wants to see what all the hype is about. Most of the time he’s enjoying himself, just swaying from side to side with a drink in hand, watching you dance. Of course he’d be the one to make sure no one got handsy, therefore you and your friends could enjoy themselves. Loves to see you enjoy yourself most of all and honestly wouldn’t even hesitate to go next weekend and the weekend after that if you’re free of course.
Bucky Barnes: Is a tad bit more reserved than Steve. He wouldn’t be necessarily ecstatic to go to the club, not if it wasn’t for a mission. Still, somehow the thought of you going alone just didn’t sit right with him. Honestly kind of awestruck with the way you doll up to go to the club. You were there to have fun anyway, why not add a little glitter to your hair and face. It looked mostly like you were going to a rave, but either way, Bucky refused to peel his eyes off of you, from the bar to the floor. Kind of like Steve, he’s watching you from afar, keeping the creeps off of you. You would literally have to drag these men to the floor if you want to see them move at all.
Loki Laufeyson: Clubbing isn’t really his scene, but if you insisted on going, Loki was sure as hell going with you. Of course he would see this more of a Tony or Thor kind of scene, but he can’t help to smile to himself upon watching yourself enjoy the music, the dancing, the drinking. It was the time and place to let loose and after a hard week, it was exactly what you were going to do. After going to the club scene a few times, Loki would grow more comfortable with it, opting to follow you to the floor and move around a little more.
Cloud Strife: It’s not really his comfort zone, but he would oblige to follow if you wanted to go. He’s mostly brooding and standing nearby with his arms crossed and stone frown. No matter how many times you try to convince him that it’s fun, he doesn’t seem to get the hint. Not until you put your foot down and ask him to dance with you. Showing him how to move with the rhythm of the beats, he seems to catch on faster than you’d expect. Though he’d never admit it, it was actually kind of fun. Not to mention, seeing you dressed up and ready to dance until your feet couldn’t hold you up anymore, it definitely helped.
Spencer Reid: Like many others, maybe it’s not where he’d spend his free time, but he’s had his fair share of going to clubs, many times being mistaken to be underage. It’s not until you continue to plead for him to follow you to the floor that he does. You don’t need him grinding on you, but you want to move around to the music near him. You wanted him to have fun too. It’s definitely a way to begin teaching him. After a few drinks, Spencer would absolutely become the life of the party and the hangover party too. After his pounding headache the next day, he’d swear to never do it again, but then it does happen again.
