Here is my recap of the False Finale (Sectionals) episode of the podcast.
This is the fall finale.
They didn't know if they were coming back when they filmed this episode.
Jenna said this episode is very nostalgic and emotional because they didn't know if they were coming back.
Kevin said when he watched the episode there were scenes he remembered reading for the first time. He couldn't believe they got this far. I felt monumental. He had never done more then one or two episodes of a tv show before Glee.
Brad Falchuk directed this episode.
It was a big deal to them.
This episode aired December 9, 2009.
Empire State of Mind is still the #1 song and Blindside is still #1 movie.
Glee was nominated for Golden Globes.
Jenna was not prepared for the crazy press that came with the nominations for Golden Globes.
This was the beginning of the huge thing that Glee became and it was like being shot out of a cannon.
Glee won 5 awards at the 14rh Annual Satellite Awards. Kristen Chenoweth Won for Best Outstanding Guest Star. Lea won for Best Actress. Jane won for Best Supporting Actress. Matt Morrison won for Best Actor.
TV Guide named them Entertainers of the Year. Matt, Lea, and Cory were on the cover.
Glee Season 1 Volume 1 The Road to Sectionals was released on DVD.
This was the midseason break and Glee did not comeback until April.
The cast was working the whole time. The break they had was a promo break. They had to promote the first 13 episodes. They came back sometime in the late fall to continue filming. They did get a break for Chrismas.
People kept coming up to Kevin while he was ice skating with family. His family got super protective.
Jenna remembers going home and being able to by her family super nice Christmas gifts.
It was weird but also super exciting.
Jenna talked about how a favorite restaurant added a plaque to a table and she got pictures with the owners. It made everything feel real. It was like overnight they had become celebrities.
Now onto the episode.
We get to see Amber doing And I'm Telling You for the first time. Jenna watched it and just cried.
The Fox promo for this episode says "The phenomenon that has made America sing brings you an unforgettable fall finale guarantied to make you cheer!"
Kevin said it felt surreal to be on a show being advertised in such a huge way.
Everything happening at the time was unbelievable and very big.
Jenna said she doesn't think they could ever experience what everyone on the outside experienced at the time.
New Directions go to sectionals.
We have babygate, Will and Terri's marriage problems, and Sue maybe finally getting caught.
They start recapping the episode at this point.
Everyone knows Puck is the baby daddy except Rachel. She gets suspicious when Puck helps Quinn when she slips.
Artie starts the use of trout mouth before the real trouty mouth joins Glee. He says it about Rachel.
Jenna remembers shooting the phone scene and being nervous.
It was one long walk and talk. Squishing three people into the camera frame was hard.
This was a really big moment for Santana and Brittany. Kevin doesn't know if it was anything more then a joke at the time. Santana was like sex is not dating and Brittany was like if it were Santana and I would be dating. Everyone pauses and then the scene carries on. It was so good.
We then get to Emma telling Schue that the wedding has been postponed. Ken is not okay with it.
Rachel is up to no good trying to figure out Quinn's baby daddy.
Schue tells the students Emma is his replacement.
Brittany says she's the one they made me talk to when they found out I was keeping that bird in my locker. There are a lot of bird jokes in this season but also in this whole show.
I am with Kevin how did they not know the setlist by this point?
Kevin and Jenna said they did not ask these questions at the time they filmed this episode.
Mercedes is mad because they have to have a solo ballad and Rachel assumes its hers.
Kevin said one his favorite things the show does is when Mercedes wants to prove she can do something and we see her talking to somebody and its a full band with strings.
This was the famous episode where Matt Rutherford (Dijon Talton) gets his one line, I don't know. It was in response to Mercedes asking what is a balladeer. The cast used the I don't know part for years amongst themselves.
Mercedes is sort of like the clubs defacto leader.
Mercedes does And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going. She was going for it every time they shot it. In the recording studio she almost fainted at the end because it is such a hard number.
The reactions were all real. Chris' tears were real as were everyone's cheers.
Kevin called Amber out for not knowing the runs and covered her face with her hair to hide it.
Rachel decides she should have the solo.
She then decides to tell Finn the truth about Quinn and Puck.
The fight in the choir room was done with stunt doubles.
Kevin made a good point that Puck and Finn didn't seem to get hurt in the fight. No one had bruises or anything.
Finn storms out and says he is done.
Rachel apologizes to Quinn. Quinn asks Rachel to leave. Puck comes in to comfort Quinn. Quinn says nah I'm going to do this on my own.
Kevin said Finn is a big guy but throws weak punches or maybe he just missed a lot.
In the bts that he was excited to go to sectionals because it feels like we have been talking about it for ages.
In real life they were growing as actors, friends, and coworkers. They were becoming a cohesive group and learning these numbers. The glee club was doing the same thing. It was all leading to a real stage in a real theater. In real life they got to Glendale and perform at Alex Theatre.
This was there first big competition. By the time they got to season 3 or 4 it was old hat. In season 1 it was all new and it was huge. There were a lot of audience extras and the judges.
This laid the groundwork for how they shot completions from here on out. You couldn't get too creative. Things needed to be structured.
Brad Buecker, a director, would come in with a big poster board that listed all the shots they needed and mark each one off when they finished it.
Jenna vividly remembers shooting the scene in the lobby room. Kevin was really excited for the next scene in this room where he was ramming himself into the wall.
Kevin thought that scene was hilarious with everyone losing their minds in the background after finding out their setlist had been stolen.
Will confronts Sue. It's such a good scene. Sue say love you like a sister. She also makes fun of Will's hair and marriage.
Matt had a really easy episode. It's mostly phone acting.
Will finds Finn in the locker room and gives him a pep talk. It was a really nice full circle moment from the first episode. Sometimes it sucks to be special.
Sweet sweet Emma confronts the other choir directors. She makes them feel really bad.
Rachel calls a group meeting in the green room. Kevin and Jenna said this scene sucked to film. They were on this one set for hours and it was so hot.
Watching the scene it is great and it is an important scene.
If anyone can do a ballad on the fly it is Rachel. I agree with Kevin that it doesn't sit right that Mercedes had to basically say Rachel was the better singer.
This is a really nice moment with Santana saying she likes being in Glee club. There is a lot of trauma bonding going on in this scene.
Finn shows up and pulls a Mr. Schue. It was really sweet to him come in and save the day. It was also cool to see him not be fine with Quinn and Puck.
Rachel does Don't Rain On My Parade. In one episode we get two the actresses would sing in the original shows they came from. The other was Amber in Dreamgirls.
The next number is You Can't Always Get What You Want. Schue planted the seeds for this song during his pep talk to Finn.
They do Somebody To Love as the last number but don't show it.
They think that dummy extras were used during this competiton. They were definitely used in later competition episodes.
Kevin had a hard time not laughing when they did the scene with Rod Remington.
Kevin was starstruck when they did the scene with Eve.
Ian, Brad, and Ryan used this episode to try to wrap up many of the storylines.
The Emma and Will scene after the wedding that was canceled is a bit weird. Why is she fully glammed up and wearing the dress. Otherwise it was a good scene.
We then go to the scene with Mr. Figgins and Sue. Jenna said she was genuinely worried for Figgins.
Sue says to Figgins that you are about to board the Sue Sylvester express. Destination: Horror.
We don't find out until now that the New Directions won.
This is when they do My Life Would Suck Without You.
Zach and Brooke the choreographers came up with the idea to incorporate all the most iconic numbers or moves from other numbers from the season thus far. It was a nod to those moments for Mr. Schue.
In the last scene Will and Emma weren't supposed to kiss. Brad Falchuk told Matt to kiss Jayma to get an honest reaction from her.
Tartie Takes:
Cringe Moments/Ouchies - JBI saying he was just wanting to get into Rachel's pants. The judges comments on the different choirs.
Worst Dance Move - The callback to some of the weird numbers like Push It during My Life Would Suck Without You.
Best Dance Move - Revisiting all the dance moves in My Life Would Suck Without You
Favorite Song - Don't Rain On My Parade and I Am Telling You
Best Performance by a Prop - the trophy
Best Lines - Sue saying running a high school glee club and finding a hairstyle that doesn't make you look like a lesbian. Also the Sue line about riding on the Sue Sylvester train, destination horror.
Shit We Found on TikTok:
Someone watched Glee so much that the logo is burned into his tv.
Jenna cannot wait to recap Hello.
Now we are on our way to Regionals.

Gonna Come True (Glee)
AN: This is a follow-up to There's a Miracle Due which was written for the Glee Twistfest, “What if Mercedes & Kurt got Maria & Tony?” back in 2014 (yikes). I had the storyline for this already back then (hello, all of three lines in a document), it's just taken me until now to actually write it.
For @krummavisur who wanted it.
Thanks to @elledelajoie for looking it over .
The title is taken from “Something Coming”, West Side Story.
Oh, and I am not trying to follow any kind of canon time-line. Just, go with it.
Gonna Come True
Kurt throws himself into preparing for West Side Story with an energy that makes Mercedes envious. She understands though – he doesn't feel like he got the role honestly, which is bullshit, but. He still thinks he needs to prove himself. In her eyes he did so during his audition, and it's everyone else who needs to prove themselves to him, but he doesn't see it that way. Years of Lima bullshit stops him from seeing it.
He doesn't drop out of the race for senior class president though, not even when he's complaining about balancing that with Tony and school and Blaine. She asks him why and gets an answer she should have expected.
“At first this was about getting at least something on my resume. But that's not it any longer. I'm running as a reminder that bullying is a problem at this school, and that something needs to be done. If I win – and I don't expect to, not here – then I have a shot at making the administration do something. If I lose I still raise awareness. Every time I speak about my agenda I force the people listening to remember that bullying is an issue, that bullying kills, and that it is not okay.
“That's worth losing a little sleep.”
Mercedes's heart swells at hearing her boo speak so passionately about it, and it breaks as she hears an angry Santana tell Brittany that she should run against Kurt.
Kurt who is currently pulling down unicorn posters around the school while pushing back tears.
She waits until Brittany walks away before cornering Santana.
“We need to talk. What you just told Brit? That's a shit thing to do.”
Santana starts to argue, all fire, and under other circumstances Mercedes would admire her willingness to go to bat for her girl, but not now.
“No. Don't you dare. Do you know why Kurt is so upset over those posters? It's because to him they represent everything that he's been bullied over. And that? Has a lot to do with you. You have been sitting in the choir room for two years, mocking him for what he likes and for who he is.
“So here we are. Him running on an anti-bullying platform, and your girlfriend plastering the school with posters reminding him of exactly that bullying. Do I really need to explain to you why it is that when Kurt looks at those posters he doesn't see Brit's intentions, her meaning – he sees your bullying.”
Mercedes sees her words are hitting home, even if Santana is putting up a good front.
“Oh, and Santana? When you mock Kurt for being gay it makes you a hypocrite. But when you mock him for being 'girly'? It's even worse. Because when you say that there's something wrong with being like a girl, you're implying that there's something wrong with being a girl. And I'm not okay with that.
“Now, you are going to go back to Brit and tell her exactly what happened here, and you're going to make sure that she forgets all about running against him. He's had enough of his so-called friends doing that, I'd think.
“I'm not saying this – any of this – to be mean. I'm trying to be a good friend, to Kurt and to you. But make no mistake. You ruin this for Kurt? I'll ruin you.”
Mercedes might not be popular like a cheerleader, but she's got friends and she's got contacts outside of school. Her threat's not an empty one, and Santana knows it.
Her phone's ringing. There's something hitting her window, and her phone's ringing. At half past eleven on a school night.
Whoever it is, Mercedes is going to cut them.
Except it's Kurt, and he's not looking right.
As she lets him in through the back-door Mercedes notices the wrinkled clothes and the mussed hair that doesn't fit with a night of dancing. More making out, but Kurt doesn't have that well-kissed look. Plus, he's pale and shaky.
Something's wrong.
It takes her a long time to coax the story out of him, about Blaine trying to rape him. Except when she says that Kurt denies it, vehemently.
“Are you serious right now? Are you defending him? No! Okay? No. Hell no even.
“Look, if I showed up at your place and told you Shane had pulled me into the backseat of a car, had tried to get my clothes off and wouldn't stop touching me even though I said no, what would you tell me? Would you tell me it was okay because we're dating? That he's allowed to do that because I'm in love with him and he treats me good the rest of the time? Would you tell me to suck it up and forgive him?
“Would you explain away that and tell me that if he won't respect my 'no' the solution is to say 'yes' instead?”
Kurt's even paler now, his eyes blown and unfocused. He doesn't say anything though. Instead he just whimpers and rushes out to the bathroom.
When he comes back he's regained some color. He still looks like shit though. Mercedes pulls out some comfortable clothes that were bought for her brother, but got conscripted as backup for unplanned Kurt-visits, and leaves him to change while she gets them some chamomile tea.
Later, as the lights are out and they're curled up together, trying to get what rest they can Kurt whispers: “I'm going to have to break up with him, aren't I?”
She holds him as he cries himself to sleep.
The next day Kurt pretends like nothing's happened. He doesn't want to rock the boat before the West Side Story premiere, he says, or deal with the bitchfit Rachel would throw. “I'll do it after the final performance on Sunday” he promises, and Mercedes doesn't have it in her to push him. Not with the memory of his tears so fresh.
Dress rehearsal that night goes well, right up to the point where Artie comes to talk to them after. They need more fire, more passion, he claims and then proceeds to tell them that they should hurry up and have sex before their first show so they can portray lovers more believably. Oh, he doesn't put it quite like that, but it's pretty obvious that's what he means.
Mercedes is stunned at first, and then furious. She's surprised that Kurt's not ripping into him, with everything, and oh. Hell no.
“Are you telling me to have sex to improve the show you're directing? Really? How about you get some classes or something, to improve your part? You know, instead of sexually harassing me.”
Artie sputters out what's probably meant as a denial, but she just talks right over him.
“If you as much as breathe about this again, to anyone, I will report you. And then my mama will go have a talk with your parents about how they've failed at raising you to be a decent human being.
“Do you get me?”
He nods quickly, mumbles something and makes a hasty retreat. Just as he goes out the door Kurt's voice rings out, cold.
“And to think I remember a boy who grieved that his first time wasn't romantic enough. I wonder what he would think of you now.”
Artie doesn't say anything, or slow down, but he slumps a little in his chair as the barb hits home. Mercedes shifts her attention to Kurt and sees pale skin, rigid posture and shaky hands. He's thinking the same thing she is.
“Boo...”
“No, 'Cedes, please. Let's not speculate about whether or not he had that speech with the others first. I can't, not now.”
So she lets it go. For now.
Mercedes is on stage for the opening show Friday night along with Kurt. Not in the spotlight, sure, but still there. She can't help but compare Rachel and Blaine's performance with what she and Kurt can do, and they come up short. Tomorrow night, she thinks. Tomorrow night we're going to show them how it's really done.
She says as much to Kurt as they leave together and he laughs, the first sign of happiness she's heard from him in two days. The laughter dies out soon as he spots a bunch of well-dressed boys waiting outside. She recognizes a few from Kurt's time at Dalton, but not all of them. She'd think it nice of them to come see their friends perform, except judging from Kurt's reaction they're not an entirely welcome sight.
He still greets them politely, smiling that small “company smile” she doesn't like while asking if they remember Mercedes.
“And this,” he says with strained, icy politeness, “is Sebastian Smythe, this year's new transfer to Dalton.”
This then is the reason they're not welcome. Still, she follows Kurt's example and pulls out church manners.
Apparently the boys have been given tickets by Blaine, the tall new boy explains, before trying to needle Kurt.
“So, Officer Krupke? How did that feel, such a...manly role?”
Ouch.
“Oh, you know, it's not about the role, it's what you put into it. And it makes for an interesting contrast to tomorrow and playing Tony. ”
Everyone quiets at that and the mood gets slightly uncomfortable. Trent is about to break the silence, but Sebastian talks right over him.
“Right. Well, we'll have to withhold judgment until after of course, but I'd say you'll have a hard time measuring up to Blaine. And you,” he turns to Mercedes, “are you also playing another role tomorrow? This one's Maria perhaps?”
She nods without explaining, and then listens as the boys stumble over excuses about not knowing exactly who'll be there tomorrow, but “We're sure you'll do great, Kurt!”
Once they're out of sight Kurt sags a little.
“He didn't tell them. He went to Dalton to tell them about the show, and give them tickets, and he didn't tell them I was in it. Didn't tell them I was also playing Tony. They tried to cover it up, but... They were my friends too, and he didn't tell them.”
She loops an arm around his waist and snuggles close.
He deserves so much better.
There's a group of Dalton boys there next evening again, making Kurt smile and Blaine startle. Some are from the evening before, including the sharp Sebastian, some are new. They all applaud enthusiastically, and wait so they can congratulate Kurt on his performance. Mercedes pays extra attention to Sebastian, for some reason, but all he says is “not bad”. It sounds genuine though, and so is Kurt's smile as he nods and thanks the other boy.
Mercedes knows they did better than “not bad”. They were awesome together. She doesn't need to hear it from this reluctant boy though. She's got a better source.
They skip the cast party. Kurt's not eager to be with Blaine, especially since there might be alcohol involved, and Mercedes prefers celebrating with her boyfriend who has been a rock. There's a small sting as Kurt walks away alone, but it slips away as she accepts Shane's flowers and kiss and walks out on his arm.
The next morning Mercedes shows up at the Hummel-Hudson house almost uncomfortably early. She drags a still sleep-tussled Kurt to the dining table and spreads out the Gazette in front of him. It's already open to the right page and she sees exactly when Kurt realizes what she's got.
“You read that, I'll fix breakfast.”
She's brought coffee from home along with juice and fresh croissants from the bakery a block away and a small carton of strawberries. It's a luxury, but it's a well-deserved one. It's the work of no time to put it all out along with cups and plates, and as she does that she hears Kurt's voice rise, reading select paragraphs out loud.
“Rachel Berry's 'Maria' is technically perfect, with the singer hitting every note. Sadly that excellence does not extend to the rest of her performance. Ms Berry fails to provide personality and emotion, and simply put she lacks the ability to bring Maria to life.”
He stops, shakes his head and looks at her.
“Ehm, ouch?”
Yes.
“Blaine Anderson as Tony does not help. Where a better singer and actor could shore up his counterpart Anderson falls flat. 'Flat' is in fact the word that comes to mind most often when seeing and listening to him performing. Anderson fails to hit the notes in several of the songs, and often resorts to what must be described as screaming instead of singing. He lacks the range needed to play Tony, and obviously also the training needed to make up for his shortcomings.
“On the acting side it's equally flat. Anderson's body language and facial expressions are mostly too subtle – or possibly non-existent – to come across from the stage, making it like watching a cardboard cut-out most of the time. On the other hand, when he does come across it's much too exaggerated, making his Tony look like a caricature. (I find myself looking at the playbill to see if this is meant to be a comedic take on this epic show. It's not.)
“Holy shit, 'Cedes!”
Yessssss.
“Finally, the dancing. Here, Anderson does better – most of the time. He clearly favors certain parts of the choreography, and there he does very well. In other parts it is obvious that Anderson lacks either the desire or the ability to perform according to choreography. This shows, as other cast members – including Ms Berry's Maria – often have to adjust their own moves to accommodate Anderson, either because he takes up too much space or because he simply isn't where he is supposed to be.
“Towards the end of the show Anderson also shows a surprising lack of stamina, and almost literally falls flat as he stumbles through some of the steps.
“The rest of the cast...”
Kurt's voice peters off, and he looks at her, stunned. Mercedes only smiles, satisfied.
“You should read on. Really.”
Kurt looks at her with skepticism, but does as she says. She knows exactly when he hits the part she wanted him to see, because he looks up at her, wide-eyed and slightly stunned.
“After this the pair playing Maria and Tony during Saturday's performance – as well as today's matinée – is a pleasant surprise. Mercedes Jones and Kurt Hummel bring our lovers to life in a way that looks more like a professional setup than a high school play. Not only are they both talented singers, but they also manage to communicate the story to the audience and play off each other in a way that lifts the entire show.
“It is noticeable, having seen both sets of performers that like Anderson Jones has some difficulty with the choreography. However the adjustments made to cater to her limitations in no way come off as a lesser version of what Berry performs, and does in fact make her look better than Anderson's attempt at a more complex choreography. Meanwhile Hummel needs no such adjustments and manages to pair vocals with dancing in a truly impressive manner.
“Hummel's vocals could take up an article of its own, and so this reporter will just note that it comes as no surprise that Hummel is pursuing schooling and later a career in performing arts. We are looking forward to seeing him on stage on many more occasions.”
Kurt drops the paper and blinks like an owl.
“Am I dreaming? Did an actual reporter not only attend a West Side Story performance at McKinley to write about it in the Gazette, but they actually went twice?”
“Yeah boo.”
“And they actually wrote that we did better than Rachel and Blaine?”
“Yeah, they did. And they were right, you know. You did so much better than Blaine that he should be embarrassed.”
Kurt blushes a little, then pulls a grimace.
“What?”
“I was just thinking... I've been wondering if breaking up with Blaine over what happened was an overreaction, because...” He meets her eye, and looks away. “Anyway, I'm reading this and instead of being happy for me – for us – I can't help but think that Blaine's going to go ballistic. And that waiting for the show to be over probably wasn't that great of an idea. He's going to expect me to listen to him whine about this.”
Mercedes isn't surprised to hear that Kurt's been considering forgiving his boyfriend. A bit disappointed, sure, but not surprised. He always was more loyal than people deserved. She is surprised that he's being that clear-sighted about Blaine though. That's good. That means he's probably going to follow through.
As if cued Kurt's phone starts buzzing and they both look at the screen. Blaine. Mercedes makes an unhappy face. Kurt... Kurt looks upset and rejects the call before turning the sound off.
“Boo?”
“I am not going to ruin my afterglow by listening to him complain about how no one appreciates him. Not when I'm already going to break up with him. Just, no.
“Instead I'm going to enjoy this lovely breakfast with my gorgeous leading lady, and then I'm going to read that article again and gloat. Oh, and then I'm going out to get myself a couple of extra copies as proof that even in Lima people can see our talent.
“I don't know how you did it, but you, my dear, pulled off a miracle.”
And she has, hasn't she? Not by making someone see and recognize Kurt's talent, though, but by making him smile, wide and open.
That's her miracle, right there.

If Glee did a Taylor Swift Tribute Episode...
Just my opinions, feel free to add on to them. I know I have some fellow gleek swifties following me. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Obviously they have to do some of the hits but I think some people would have some out of the box picks.
*This post assumes all Taylor songs are available to choose from as of May 14th 2021 but focuses on Taylor’s first 6 albums (if you want more glee and Taylor I have fics with that; LOVER and FOLKLORE) and takes liberties with where this episode’s placement is in terms of canon. But since it’s all made up anyway who cares (but Blaine’s involved so I guess season 3 idk).*
Okay, trying to do a full plot here (completely inspired by @kurtdeservesbetter head canon posts. I hope this lives up to her fabulous posts). This will be my version of glee so everyone gets solos and Rachel can’t hog the spotlight. Also, this is about to be super long (both post wise and episode wise).
Let’s open the first episode with
...Ready For It because the New Directions are in their reputation era. Santana does the opening cough centerstage. Everyone in black and/or camo green outfits (can you just see Kurt in a dark green bedazzled snake jacket, Santana in a black leather dress, and Tina digging out some goth clothes for people to borrow?), snakes everywhere, but probably no Karyn (she just wouldn’t fit on the auditorium stage). Santana takes the first verse but we have Blaine step up for verse 2. (I just love their friendship in the Michael tribute, cute little badasses are BACK. Also him singing “Burton to this Taylor” is such a Klaine thing to do).
Everyone is still dressed in their rep outfits but we’re in the choir room now. Mr. Schue is talking about why Taylor had to disappear and clap back with rep, how rough the industry is for women and tries to uplift the ladies in the room and encourage them to not silence their voices (cue snarky comment from Santana about Rachel needing to be silent).
Then, Mr. Schue goes on about how you can only understand how Taylor got to her rep era by studying her earlier music. So we have a performance of Tim McGraw. Simple, front of the choir room performance, maybe Puck does guitar, and sitting on stools.
Everyone is surprised to find out how pumped Sam is for this assignment but he is all over it. “It's about time we did some country in this room.” Cue Sam and Quinn at her locker talking about their ‘date’ last night, Sam’s all cute and teasing and Quinn is not into it. She tells him it was fun but she was wrong, they shouldn’t do this again. In turn, he does a wonderful performance of Bye Bye Baby. He thought it was more but clearly he’s “a part of her past.”
Then, we’re in the empty choir room. Tina and Mike are there. (I love their cutesy duets) They sing Everything Has Changed and it’s utterly adorable. Can’t you hear Mike asking Tina if she’s “good to go” like Ed does? And while we’re on the subject of cute duets and RED, we flash to the courtyard to see Santana and Brittany. They turn Stay Stay Stay into a duet. “I’ve been loving you for quite some time,” “before you I only dated self-indulgent takers who took all their problems out on me,” “no one else is gonna love me when I’m mad, mad, mad,” and “it’s occurring to me that I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life” it’s perfect for them. Adorable ladies kisses are had.
Let’s toss in some boy drama for fun. Idk shit about football but somehow Puck is praised by their coach over Finn, which gets him all pissy, and Puck’s upset and jealous because Finn is back with Quinn now (this is why Quinn shut Sam now earlier, she changed her mind). Can we say duet of Bad Blood? “So if you’re coming my way...just don’t.”
After their dramatics, we have a Brittany solo in the choir room. It’s after school at this point (or whenever glee club is). Brittany does You’ll Always Find You Way Back Home.
When she finishes Mr. Schue tries to explain that it’s a Hannah Montana song. Britt injects that it’s confusing how she’s really Miley Cryus “like how can you be two people at once?”. Before Mr. Schue can continue, Kurt pipes up “you never specified that the songs had to be sung by Taylor Swift, just that they were her songs.” Mercedes adds, “yeah, Mr. Schue, Taylor wrote that song.” Mr. Schue concedes that he has once again been outwitted by Kurtcedes. The friends do their little hand shake thing.
With a sigh, Mr. Schue asks Mike if he’s ready to go and Mike asks to take things to the auditorium for some dancing room. Everyone’s on stage with him and it’s kind of a group number but Mike is the focus. It’s Shake It Off. All inspired by the music video. He’s tried to fit in elsewhere (i.e. football, with the smart kids, etc..) but he’s really himself in glee when he’s dancing.
Part 2 of Taylor Tribute Episodes
We begin with an ALL GIRL NUMBER of A Place In This World. Just because.
Glee is dismissed and we zoom in on Artie. He’s watching Tina with Mike and Brittany with Santana. Both Tina and Britt have broken his heart by this point. So, he’s rolling down the halls singing A Perfectly Good Heart. While Artie’s soloing, we cut to Rachel watching Finn and Quinn chatting. Artie’s song playing over this scene. Rachel is feeling similar to him at the moment.
She’s pretty sure Finn dumped her to be with Quinn again even though Kurt and Blaine told her they saw Quinn and Sam at the movies last night together making out in the back row. Fine, if that’s how he’s going to be, she doesn’t need him anyway. Cue Mr. Perfectly Fine. Uber dramatic solo performance walking around McKinley’s halls watching Finn and Quinn together ending in the auditorium alone. (see what I did there, both broken hearted peeps singing a song with Perfectly in it (this was not at all planned, actually, happy accident))
After some good old heartbreak, we have Kurt and Blaine on screen. Blaine walks into the auditorium to see Kurt sitting on the edge of the stage. “What’s all the fuss?” he asks from the door. Kurt had texted him “EMERGENCY.” The band starts to play and Kurt just starts singing, Enchanted. It’s time to profess their love for each other, just like they sing Perfect together in the car, this duet needs no audience. Blaine catches up and sings while walking towards his boyfriend. It’s very reminiscent of past New Directions competitions where they come in from the back and make their way to the stage. “Wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you?” Kurt and Blaine both know the answer to that question now but just a few months ago they were both wondering that exact thing.
They kiss before we cut to Kurt and Blaine walking hand in hand into the choir room where everyone else is already. Mr. Schue is praising the performances thus far and of course asks Rachel if she’s ready to solo (some practice for her completion solo). This causes an uproar from Mercedes and Santana. Another classic argument of how she gets too many solos. Mr. Schue tries to shut them both down but Santana tells Rachel to watch her back, and we get three very different reactions to this.
All three girls storm out.
First, we visit Mercedes alone in the courtyard. This solo is all about being hurt over this great thing in her life (glee) and her being denied happiness within that club. Thus, Cold As You. (mostly to indulge myself because she’d blow us away with this song).
Next, Rachel in the auditorium. A huge bridge on stage (very Speak Now Tour of her), belting out Better Than Revenge. Santana’s dropped the last straw (the humiliation, name calling, Finn at one point and now solos,) it’s too much this time.
And finally, Santana walking around McKinley, showing us flashes of Rachel ‘outshining’ her and the rest of glee and Mr. Schue being unfair, while singing Look What You Made Me Do.
Tina walks out at the same time as Rachel, Mercedes, and Santana but no one seems to put two and two together. She feels just as underutilized as the latter two do. She ends up in an empty classroom and sings The Outside. “Nobody ever lets me in” and “on the outside looking in.”
Once the 3, err 4, divas have left the room, Finn sticks up for Rachel. Quinn, of course, has something to say about this along the lines of “you always defend her.” Finn, intimated by her ‘scary Quinn’ fumbles and blurts “because she’s my girlfriend” WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT THIS POINT. Quinn dumps him on the spot, cuts quickly to Blaine and Kurt sharing some ‘oh my god, can you believe this’ expressions, and vanishes from the room.
By this point, Rachel is long gone from the auditorium but the bridge is still there.
Here’s where we go way off script but imagine, Quinn has decided to just quit boys. They’ve all failed her anyway, she’s better off being alone. She walks up the bridge and thinks to herself “god Rachel’s so dramatic, where did this thing even come from” before it hits her “fuck, I’m as bad as Finn. I want her.” Then, she starts singing Clean to herself in the auditorium, likely tearing up throughout and ending with a good cry. (Because Dianna would DELIVER with Clean.)
While Quinn is having a sexuality crisis, the rest of glee is still happening. They’re discussing upcoming competition and debating solos and songs.
Kurt’s all: “Mr. Schue, if I may” and performs a lovely rendition of Call It What You Want. Those opening lines are too good. “My castle (ie McKinley) crumbled overnight, brought a knife to a gun fight (ie couldn’t fight off Dave Karofsky), “I’m doing better than I ever was ‘cause my baby’s fit like a daydream,” and “at least I did one thing right.” When he’s done, Blaine’s a mess in the back of the choir room, and Mr. Schue says: “not really what we’re looking for but very nice, Kurt” however, Kurt’s too busy sitting beside Blaine teasing him about blushing.
Then, the missing girls return to the room having sung out their emotions. Quinn, having realized her feelings for Rachel, ends up soloing You Belong With Me to the New Directions in the choir room. Odd looks all around, no one knows what’s up with her and why does she keep glancing at Rachel? (Faberry just fit so well I had to add it, don’t know if I’m a shipper or not but it’s here now) (also thanks to @spicygemini for pointing out the obvious “Quinn would have ate YBWY”).
Mr. Schue wants to move the group to the audition to perform their final number of the Taylor Swift tribute well but Tina asks to sing first. He’s surprised but allows it, taking a seat with the rest of the New Directions.
Tina sings Beautiful Ghosts. “Watch from the dark, wait for my life to start” because New Directions is refusing to use her talents AGAIN. She’s singing this to Rachel and the girls who were in the Treble Tones. Because she absolutely SMASHES this number, the glee kids agree she gets solo for their next competition (and they deliver on that promise).
To conclude Part 2 of the Taylor tribute episode, we have a group performance of Long Live. “One day we will be remembered”, “all the years we stood there on the sidelines wishing for right now”, “for a moment a band of thrives in ripped up jeans got to rule the world” ie wining completions, “when they look at the pictures please tell them my name...”

I read with interest your view and that of @hopefulobjectmiracle about tumblr Klaine fandom. Is there more shipping these days than 2010-15? I ask because there seems to be a smaller group that only ship Kurt with Blaine but there seems to be a huge rise in Kurtbastian and Hevans shippers. Likewise, there’s many more pezberry or faberry shippers. And a lot more of those shippers trying to discredit Blaine or Brittany as OTP for Kurt and Santana. There seems to be new younger people joining Tumblr declaring a love for all things Klaine, and then a week later shipping Kurt with everybody else!! Has there been a change since the show aired?
Hi Nonny! :)
Hmmm.... There's not really a clear answer to this because the way shipping evolved is different than people just finding things now.
There are kind of two different things going on here -- Kurt related shipping and non-Kurt (blaine/klaine) shipping. I can't tell you much about non related Kurt things -- however, I will say that Faberry was HUGE when the show was on. It's a subsection of the fandom I never interacted with but it was around in season 1, and loud enough that the show makes nod to it from season 2 forward. Brittana was always around, too, and the reason Brittana became a thing on the show was, partly, due to fans crying out that they should be a couple -- and more than the throwaway joke the writers made in the first season.
I don't know what happened to those ships over time, or how the evolved since the show ended -- I'm sorry :/
But now, I will tell you the epic history of Kurt shipping. (Again. i should really dig out my old notes on this, lol)
Here we go long post...
I found it! I'm going to quote myself so I don't have to write it out again, lol. This was originally from an ask about the BBO (Better Boyfriend Olympics), but it'll work here, too.
Okay, so let’s go back to 2010 when there wasn’t a Klaine fandom, there was a Kurt fandom. A lot of the BBO stemmed out of the Kurt’s Boyfriend Shipping wars of 2010.
Back then, there was just a Kurt fandom, and a lot of opinions about who he should date.  Believe it or not, Kurt was shipped a lot with the other guys on the show, there was a healthy dose of Kurt/Finn, but Kurt/Puck was huge, and there was a smattering of Kurt/Mike (I never really did see much Kurt/Artie now that I think of it, which is kind of funny in retrospect, but I’m sure it’s out there.)  Anyway - when the show announced Kurt was getting a boyfriend – well, things began to get heated up.
Three big ships emerged
Kurt/Sam - because the rumor was that Sam was originally supposed to be Kurt’s bf (probably not, but that rumor was big at the time).  Btw, they were the canoe ship (I have no idea why) and was also known as Kum (rolls-eyes).  This ship’s fanbase was so huge and lasted so long, that the show felt the need to address it head on in Season Two’s Rumours (not a joke).
Kurt/Karofsky - Also known as Kurtofsky, they were also called themselves the Pirate ship (god, Idk why, shipping wars are weird, yo).  These people were also really passionate, mostly about Dave, but liked the whole idea that Kurt would save Dave and they would have this weird - enemies to loves love affair or something.  I don’t know, I could never get past the squicky assault aspect, but whatever.
Kurt/Blaine - which. at the time, was… the biggest possibility? It’s funny cause the other two ships were just as big as the Klaine ship, and really the fighting became over who was going to be the best option for Kurt.
And that’s the thing.  Fans of Kurt were so passionate about who was best for Kurt, because everyone had seen him go through hell and back on the show, so his boyfriend needed to be perfect for him.  And you know who was perfect (at first) – Blaine.  More on that in a second…
However, Blaine brought his own bit of baggage – namely fans of Darren Criss (and/or Starkid fans).  Unlike Chord Overstreet or Max Adler, people knew who Darren was before he was on Glee.  So his own fandom joined in on the Klaine of it all.  At first it was all fine – as the shipping wars continued, it was less about Kurt vs Blaine and more about Klaine vs the other shippers.  Well, that was going to change….
Original Song happened and Kurt and Blaine got together ending the question of who would ultimately be Kurt’s boyfriend.  And things were nice and cozy headed into season 3.  You’d think the Kurt/Sam and Kurt/Karofsky ships would die out, but not really, they stuck around for a long time, and kinda morphed into something else.
See, The First Time happened.  And for the first time Blaine wasn’t the perfect prince that he was in season 2 – he had more of a developed personality, and more flaws.  And… some people didn’t like it.  (Also added to the mix was Sebastian – and the Seblaine and Kurtbastian ships were born, but those kinda go off on their own thing and I’m not really going to bring them up much here.)  Anyway, what really got fandom split was Dance With Somebody.
You had two sides of an argument, people who saw Kurt’s POV and people who saw Blaine’s POV – and guess what happened.  The two sides began to fight with each other over who was “right” in the argument.  (My god…) And thus started what fandom started referring to as The Better Boyfriend Olympics.
See - for reasons I don’t fully understand - instead of seeing that each of the boys have a fault and each were wrong in the episode, each side wanted to say that their side, and their POV was the correct way – that one boyfriend was more oppressed and the other was not as good a partner.
On the Kurt side, though, you had a lot of the old Kurt fans and ships who didn’t like Blaine (and/or didn’t want Blaine as his partner) so they vehemently decided that unless Blaine was the perfect boyfriend again, he didn’t deserve to be with Kurt.  Meanwhile, you had the Blaine fans, many of them Darren fans who wanted Blaine to have more depth to him than just being Kurt’s boyfriend, and not being Kurt fans first (or originally) they were going to push back at the Kurt fans who were lashing out at Blaine.
Compounding this was the fact that during season 3, there were so many cast members and characters that unless you were Finchel, you were begging for scraps and your featured episode to come along.  Meanwhile - Kurt got a ton of screen time, but didn’t sing much, while Blaine sang a lot more, but didn’t get much story.  The Kurt fans resented that Blaine was always singing.  The Blaine fans were annoyed that the Kurt fans resented it, and tried to remind the Kurt fans that Blaine barely got any development.
Either way, a war had begun.  And then The Break Up happened.
Now Kurt fans had a specific reason to point at – Blaine being a terrible boyfriend.  He cheated.  He’s terrible.  The end.
The fandom was not firmly split into sides - you were either a Kurt fan - a lot of them who HATED Blaine - partly because he was getting more attention at the time, partly cause he did sing more, partly because they were made up of Kurt ships that didn’t work out, and partly cause they saw so much of themselves in Kurt that they projected onto him their own feelings, and loving Blaine was not a part of that projection.  Or you were a Blaine fan - who spent a lot of time defending Blaine to the point of exhaustion, and became so resentful of Kurt that they wished Blaine could be with anyone else because Kurt (fans) didn’t understand Blaine and should just stop trying.
Weren’t there any Klainers you ask? Ha, well…. Klainers, people actually liked Kurt AND Blaine were stereotyped into two categories.  Category A) the really really loud fanbase (usually on Twitter) that harassed the creators, RM, Chris, Darren, various crew about Klaine every second that they got – to the point that it started to feel embarrassing (that’s probably my own projection).   Category B) People who thought (think) that Chris and Darren were (are) in a secret relationship.  (Spoiler alert they aren’t, never have been, and never will be.)  The two of these categories overlapped A LOT, and many of the fans of one boy or the other just disassociated completely.
You could still be a fan of the Klaine relationship, but you had a preference to which boy you were actually a fan of – you couldn’t like both, or else you were a Klainer, and that was not cool.  (I spent a long time NOT identifying as anything, and trying to make sure everything I did and said was equal – a) cause I was new to fandom and b) cause I hated that either one or the other of these characters were villainized so frequently.)
Anyway - Season 4 continued.  Adam showed up, and Kurt fans got all excited, but the problem was that a lot of them saw him as the perfect boyfriend again – not a real character but a prop that could make Kurt look good and be everything for Kurt.  Look, I liked Adam, I did, but he was underdeveloped, and this weird idea that your boyfriend needs to be perfect in order to be a functioning relationship is just unrealistic.  I digress.  Meanwhile, we didn’t get a lot of Kurt POV, which didn’t help things, and meant even more projection over his character.
Meanwhile, the Blaine fans had formed their own community, which became viciously defensive of him.  I think the whole fandom was toxic during this time for a lot of reasons, and I really wanted to quit it.  Many people did – the show wasn’t being fun anymore.
Season 5 came along, the boys got back together, tempers simmered, but the whole idea of the Better Boyfriend Olympics came back every time a conflict happened.  Arguments about who was the better boyfriend ensued, gatekeeping as to why their pick was best and why your opinion sucked still ran through the fandom.  Not helping was the fact that Cory had died, and the creators, actors, and crew – as well as media – was tired of Glee.
The one nice thing, though was that a lot of the old crowd had moved on by then, and there was an influx of newer people coming in during season 5 (and season 6) – they weren’t here for the season 3 droughts and season 4 wars, and brought in a newer and fresher perspective.
But still - we had the end of season 5 and the summer of spoilers and season 6 to get through.  At this point, the Kurt and Blaine camps had moved to their parts of the internet and really not speaking much to each other if they could help it.  When an argument happened on the show, the same kind of Better Boyfriend Olympics came up again – one boyfriend was worse than the other, and unless they changed xyz they were not good enough for the other.  But at this point, it was incredibly tiring.  I know that I was just ready for the show to be done with.
I should say, as an aside, not helping things were the rise of some rather vocal BNF-ish fans, who dug their heels in about their own opinions.  The refusal to even acknowledge that one side or the other might be right, or have valid points was not helping anything.  A lot of people on both sides refused to even listen to the points on the other side – and instead of being frustrated at the show, the creators, or whatever, they took it against each other, which wasn’t fun to watch either.
Season 6 happened - Blainofsky happened, and that killed enthusiasm for the season on both sides, most people just kind of wanted it to be over.  And then the ending came quickly, and I think a lot of people who were just plain unhappy about everything left for good.
The Better Boyfriend Olympics, or this weird competition that always pitted the boys and their fandoms against each other in the name of one being better than the other, leveled off after this.  I won’t give myself /that/ much credit - but one reason I created @todaydreambelievers was to give fans of both Kurt and Blaine a safe place where we could enjoy and discuss both boys without the BBO rearing its head.  And you know what – it did mend a few hearts.
For the most part, it’s been pretty quiet since.  Fandom is quieter, but I think the people who have come into it after the show has ended are a lot less judgmental and argumentative.  (I suppose it helps if you know how the story is going to end.)  And the cool thing, for me, is finding a group of people who enjoy Kurt and Blaine equally (or respectfully) – and reclaiming the name Klainer as a good thing.
I’ll end by saying this – it’s been relatively peaceful, even with the influx of new people throughout the years, but I have been seeing shades of BBO pop up again.  Look, you don’t have to like Klaine to be a fan of one or the other of them.  But there are a lot of terrible things going on in the world, a lot of things to be angry and get indignant about.  How a fictional couple was written ten years ago is not one of them.  Be respectful of people, and know that maybe the side you understand better isn’t the only side worth listening to.  ;)
////////////////////
So, I suppose that's part 1 of this full picture. Onto Part 2.
Here's the thing -- I've stayed, mostly, in my little tumblr buble over the past five years -- blissfully unaware that I suppose things were going on around me. Except... they really weren't. Until the pandemic happened, and Glee went to Netflix internationally, and a whole bunch of young kids grew up and started watching the show.
By the time I ended TDB in 2019, there weren't many of us left. I knew there was our small, dedicated group of fans. The tinhatters (the group who thought Chris and Darren were in some kind of relationship. spoiler alert -- they're not). And I know the Kurtbastian fans have been kicking around for a while. But no one was around in huge numbers.
And then boom - pandemic, and I'm shocked (not in a bad way) that this show has already seen a resurgence. The weirdest part, for me, is the fact that not only is history repeating itself -- seriously, people are bringing up old conflicts that have been dead for ages, and old shipping wars I never thought I'd see again -- but I think this new group's relationship with the show is much different.
I think that Kurt is a character whom a lot of people can still identify with. And because he's on his own in the first season, it's still easy to project yourself onto him. And then shipping goes from there. Blaine went from being the exciting option, omg are they really gonna do Klaine?? to -- hey Klaine is the boring canon choice, we can choose who we want for Kurt.
Layer over that years of Blaine hate still circling the interwebs. The echo chamber that Twitter and Tiktok create. And the fact that neither Chris or Darren seem to have the army of fans they once did (well -- Darren does, but they don't really watch Glee anymore). And you get this varied landscape of shipping.
No, some days it doesn't feel that different from the BBO days. The fact that I still get asks about Blaine and TFT car scene or Tested makes me feel like I'm back in 2013. Other times I'm perplexed by resurgences -- such as Kurtbasitan and Kurt/Sam. (Please don't bring back Kurtofsky guys)
But there's a saying -- Same Shit, Different Day.
I think there is an entirely different group of people than the original people watching, and their reasoning for shipping whatever is much different. But they've certainly come to a lot of the same conclusions that brought about the shipping wars in the early days.
At the end of the day - I think Kurt will always been a fandom mattress. But ship what you like and be nice to everyone else. There's enough hate in the world -- no need to dump on people's escapism.

Brittana Analysis Part 6: Love Languages
I'm a big believer in the 5 Love Languages. I discovered it all a few years ago and I truly think knowing your partners love language can help your relationship, because you know how to communicate your love to them, and also read their way of showing love.
It got me thinking about Brittany and Santana’s love languages, and in true yin/yang style, how different I believe their specific love languages are.
If you don't know about the 5 love languages maybe give it a google first. I personally find it really interesting. But anyway here's my take (a short novel be warned):
Santana
I think Santana's love language is predominantly Words of Affirmation and Quality Time. You can tell she values words a lot in the way she communicates with Brittany. The way she shows she loves Brittany is by encouraging her, assuring her and listening to her. She's always complimenting her with words:
"You really are a genius Brittany"
"You're the most amazing dancer i've ever met"
"You are the unicorn"
"You're my lady knight in shining armour"
"You're my best friend"
"You're my favourite person in the whole world"
"You make me so happy"
Also note that most of the time Santana is the one to initiate saying 'I love you'. This doesn't mean Brittany doesn't love her as much, we'll get to that in a minute, she just has a different way of showing it. But Santana definitely values words! You can also see as well as giving love that way, she likes receiving words back to make her feel loved. Examples of this:
"Please say you love me back" 2x15
"I said I love you. You didn’t say you loved me back." 2x17
"Are we dating?" 3x04
She needs concrete proof and words to solidify it, whereas Brittany is the opposite. She already knows, without the words being said. Note that she says "Of course I love you" like it should be obvious to Santana. It's not obvious to Santana, because she hasn't heard the words. But because Brittany's love language is different, she doesn't feel the need to 'say it' she's more 'show it'. Another good example is her reaction to Santana asking if they're dating. While Santana again seeks verbal proof, Brittany has assumed their actions meant they were dating all along, no questions asked.
Further proof to me that words are so important to Santana is that in 4x22, when saying goodbye to Brittany, she tells her not to say anything. In my head this is because Santana is so affected by words, that hearing Brittany say anything in such an emotional moment, would have made it too hard.
Words are so important to Santana, and what's also interesting is the way she is so anti words at the beginning. Whenever Brittany wants to talk, Santana shuts her down. This is shown in 2x04 'there's a lot of talking going on', and also referenced in 2x15 by Brittany various times, in that Santana never wants to talk. This again highlights how important words are to Santana. She didn't want to accept her love for Brittany at this point, so she couldn't communicate words because it's her love language. But the minute she did, boy did those words of affirmation spill out.
She also says in 4x04 that she liked to say things with music, when words just weren't enough, something that we saw her doing a lot (she sang a lot of love songs to Brittany). This is also highlights how important words were for her. She values them as the top aspects, and the only thing she can do better, when even that's not enough, is to sing.
Now onto the Quality Time, I think again this another one of Santana's love languages and something that's really important to her. The main example I have of this is when she breaks up with Brittany, due to struggling with the distance. In the cut scene, she talks about how hard it is to not be physically around Brittany, and that due to this she stopped calling and texting because it wasn't enough for her. It just made her miss Brittany more.
'Both couples are rarely getting what they need' is something she says, showing how important it is for her to have that time with Brittany. She doesn't say she wants it, she says she needs it.
It's very important for Santana to be physically in Brittany's presence. Before they break up, she deliberately does laundry at home so she has an excuse to come back and see her. After they break up, she comes back on a number of occasions to see Brittany again. She admits in 4x06 that she only agreed to play Rizzo in Grease to come back and see Brittany.
While it's obvious that the distance would have affected Brittany too (who wouldn't be upset going from seeing their girlfriend every day to hardly ever), and we get to see the impact this has on her as well, I think it affects Santana more so, because it's her love language. Hence why she's the one to call time on their relationship, while Brittany could probably power through.
When Brittana do get back together, Santana mentions Brittany moving to New York quite quickly, because it's important to her not to have distance between them. She raises this again in 6x03, showing it's obviously something that plays on her mind. It's evident they'd both want to live together, but it's always Santana who brings it up.
My final example of this, is 6x08, and the way that Santana can't stay away from Brittany even for a few hours.
'I'm really sorry that I can't go an hour without seeing you, because i'll just miss you too much"
It's all about the quality time and sweet words for one Santana Lopez. Now onto Brittany.
Brittany
In standard Brittana style, I think Brittany's love languages are the complete opposite to Santana's. I would say her main love languages are Acts Of Service and Gifts. I'll start off with Acts Of Service.
Brittany is helpful by nature, but she displays that sign most of all, with Santana. She shows she loves her by helping her and doing things for her. She'd do anything to lighten the load for her and make things less stressful. Here are just a few examples:
Getting Santana the scholarship to Louisville and trying to help her figure out what she wanted to do in 3x16
Going to Santana's Abuela to find out her opinions on love/marriage/family in line with wanting her to come to the wedding for Santana 6x06
Doing most of the wedding planning. We see it's Brittany who approaches Artie to plan the wedding and she does the invites in 6 x 06, and she's seen at the venue decorating it in 6 x 08
She offers to come out on Fondue For Two in 2x19, even though she doesn't really need to, it's purely to help Santana
She allows herself to be nominated for Prom King, in order for Santana to be able to be Prom Queen, because she knows it's important to Santana in 3x19
She leaves New Directions and joins The Troubletones to make Santana happy in 3x04
She also helps Santana come to terms with her sexuality, and while at the start pushing Santana to talk may have been for her own reasons as well, it's shown that she still encourages Santana to accept herself despite staying with Artie. She wants Santana to do it for herself, and not just to be with her. She gets her the Lebanese shirt, and she constantly brings it up, and calls her out for trying to hide back in the closet and use men to cover it up. Because she wants to help her accept herself.
"I do love you, clearly you don't love you as much as I do, or else you'd put this shirt on and you'd dance with me" is very telling of this love language, as it shows how important it is for Brittany to help Santana, in order to show she loves her. When she feels she's not helping, it upsets her.
Even down to the finer details of the wedding, where Brittany is trying to make everything perfect. She tries to stick to traditions of not seeing Santana, wearing Tina's underwear etc just to make sure their day is great and nothing goes wrong. While she does ban Santana from seeing her in her wedding dress, she doesn't ask her do the other traditions (the underwear etc). If it was about tradition, surely she would request Santana does it too. It is just an example of Brittany doing everything in her power to make everything perfect, whilst making sure Santana has to do very little.
I think this is definitely a very important love language for Brit, and now onto her other one. Gifts.
We see Brittany show her affection for Santana many times with gifts and grand gestures:
She makes her a playlist for valentines day in 3x13
She buys her lilies and tickets to Lesbos in 5x13
She makes her the giant heart out of mounds bars as an engagement present in 6x02
She gives her the Lebanese shirt in 2x18
She also puts a lot of thought into these gestures. With the playlist she creates the cover herself and makes it personal to them, she's researched that lilies are the lesbian of flowers, and mounds bars are the lesbians of candy, she chooses Lesbos thinking it's a lesbian island (note Brittany is bisexual so she's doing this solely thinking of Santana), she calculates the minutes they've spent together for the engagement present. She gets her the shirt, to help her come to terms with her identity, and show her that it's okay. They are all so well thought out and this is because gestures mean a lot to Brittany, and they are for her, an important way of showing Santana how much she loves her.
You can also see it means a lot to Brittany when Santana performs gestures like this for her. Santana purely does it for Brittany, since it isn't her own love language, and you can tell it means a lot to Brit.
When Santana gets the song for Valentines Day for Brit in 3x13, you can see how touched she is by it.
In 6 x 08, when they release the doves, Brittany turns to Santana and says 'You did that!?' with her hand on her heart.
Whenever Santana sings to her, she cries. Note how emotional she gets in Saturday Night Gleever. She is a sucker for a big gesture
Brittana
So we have Santana all about the words and quality time together, and Brittany all about helping and doing things for Santana, and grand gestures. One area I think they both cross paths is the final love language, Physical Touch.
Both girls are very hands on, and it's clear they show and receive love by touching, hugging, kissing, holding hands etc. This is a love language they share, although i'd argue it's slightly more important to Santana. I think Santana initiates touch more, and when she is upset, she leans on Brittany for support and needs to physically touch her.
But both definitely exhibit this one!
There's obviously some cross overs. Everyone has features of all 5. Santana displays Acts Of Service when she helps Brittany with Kurt's campaign, with her own presidential campaign and when she helps her learn her lines for Rocky Horror. Brittany shows Words of Affirmation when she tells Santana she loves her more than anything in this world etc. It's a great representation of a healthy relationship as they are both changing their love language to suit the other, whilst not fully neglecting their own.
I think it's interesting how as with everything, they both have complete different love languages. You don't have to speak the same love language to have a happy and healthy relationship, you just need to be able to communicate and understand the differences, and know what makes your partner happy.
As Santana says in 6x08 'you love me, and i love you' so it's clear they both have no doubt in their love for one another, despite showing and receiving it in different ways :)
& there is my super long analysis. Congrats if you got to the end hahaha!

Definitive “Furry or Not A Furry” Ranking of Every Glee Kid
Yeah.
Rachel - used to be a furry when she was younger and was looking for a community. grew out of it, thinks it was kind of cringey of her but appreciates the online friends she made
Finn - not a furry, but not super weirded out by them. would absolutely be a Bag Bitch at a con if Kurt and Sam needed help
Kurt - became a mild furry after Sam introduced him. he's not a suiter or artist but he sews suits/parts and accessories and makes bank selling. has a fursona (it's some kind of cat) that he commissioned Sam for
Mercedes - not a furry. does not understand furries. supports Kurt and Sam anyway
Tina - 100% a furry, but on the DL. she has a lot of online friends and gets sucked into drama in communities a bunch. sparkle dogs were made for Tina
Artie - furry by proxy. he likes to say he's into monsters and creatures but that's not true
Quinn - not a furry, thinks it's weird and gross bc she's uninformed, and even after she still is kinda like "eh..."
Puck - not a furry but reads furry nsfw comics. unfortunately probably one of the most informed on everything furry, even more than the actual furries
Santana - 0% furry.
Brittany - 100% furry. she’s obsessed with suiters and has a ton of OCs
Mike - not a furry, kinda uncomfy by it but in like, a normal "i just don't get it" way
Sam - the biggest furry. didn't have a lot of friends growing up, was really into niche sci fi and fantasy things, found solace online. fell into furry community easily, met a lot of LGBT people across the world (which is why he's so comfy with it). got big into art because of it, now a pretty well known artist. has a fursuit and plans to start making and selling them as a main source of income. he and Kurt table at cons together
Lauren - not a furry. furries are gross
Blaine - another former furry, basically in the same boat as Rachel. doesn't like to talk about it but still has a few friends from the community. 100% read Warriors. when he and Rachel "dated" the secret came out and they spent 2 hours ranting about the books and never spoke of it again
Dave - not a furry initially. had 0 idea what furries were actually. still not super a furry but in his attempt to be informed during the short PFFLAG stint Kurt brought it up, he got researching into it. he follows a few artists on twitter. he also commissions a fursona from Sam and has a small folder of fursona art now bc he wants to support people. fully embraces the community and likes that it’s a positive source of LGBT content and friendships for youth
Jesse - not a furry but like Puck, knows a surprising amount. thinks Rachel's past is endearing and encourages her to get back into it
Becky - former furry, definitely self-hating furry now. I think once she graduates and is out of a toxic environment w/ always being around Sue she would casually get back into it. 100% still checks on her Neopets
Rory - not a furry but his brother is so when he and Sam become close, Rory is really into talking about it.
Sugar - Schrodinger's furry. I literally can't tell if she's fully against furries or is an obnoxious furry
Joe - not a furry but "jesus didn't say anything about furries" so he doesn't care. maybe just don't yiff
Unique - furry! Unique started as a fursona when she was 10-11 and the persona carried on after
Sebastian - makes fun of furries until he realizes he can't be a good person and also bully a bunch of 12 year olds. still kinda gives Dave shit for it, but in a friendly way
Marley - not a furry but she was in a lot of creative communities so she was furry adjacent. doesn't really care, thinks their art and suits are cute
Jake - no.
Ryder - has a fursuit from when he was 12-13 that he begged his parents for. still can't get through holidays without his entire family roasting him. he definitely knows who Sam is and has been an avid follower
Kitty - NOT a furry. she cannot stress enough how much she is not a furry. she loves HORSES.
Brody - zero knowledge about furries. Rachel begs Kurt to not tell him about her past because she doesn't want him to know. Kurt continuously drops hints that go right over his head
Adam - learns about furries from Kurt. definitely teases him, lovingly Elliott - Not a furry but knows of them. Always loved the passion people put into it, and like Dave appreciates that it was always an LGBT friendly space for others
Dani - 0% furry. Probably made fun of them, actually. Santana kinda shuts that down eventually bc she saw how happy it made Britt
Roderick - doesn't really know much about furries and is kinda of "meh" because of it. would probably feel uncomfortable around a fursuiter but is nice enough to kinda just let people live
Jane - another former furry. Warrior Cats girl. she still gets emotional thinking about feathertail's death. she never got into the "furry" community but was definitely involved in a lot of Warriors and wolf OC roleplays
Mason - furry adjacent, because:
Madison - aggressive furry. constantly getting in drama online and off. she and Tina have definitely fought before online. though she is very active in calling out scammers and abusers so people forgive her aggressiveness because she also does a lot of good. she has like 70 characters
Spencer - not a furry, but much like Roderick, lets people be. slightly more skeeved, definitely will make uncomfortable jokes about it
Alistair - doesn't know much from furries other than general memes and stuff, will kind of joke about them but thinks they don't deserve as much hate as they get
Myron - idk honestly he's just a fucking wildcard

Assign glee characters songs from Taylor's Red album if you want. It can be because you'd think they'd sound good or because it just fits
Ahhhh thank you so much for this ask!!!! I literally love this ask so much, answering it was a lot of fun💖💖💖
I didn’t give every glee character a song & I gave a few people/ships multiple songs. Also! I hope you don’t mind that I added a few non-canon ships <3
I put everything under the cut since it got hella long, it’s hard for me to shut up sometimes 😳
• State of Grace: I feel like this is a really good Finchel duet. Finn and Rachel loved each other so much and left a lasting impact on each other’s lives (especially Rachel). I can see them singing this after Rachel heals from from their s4 breakup (so Finn’s still alive). Hmmmm I’m thinking they sing this at the failed Wemma wedding when they reunite.
• Red: Ok get this, Pezberry duet after their s5 fight (but like a romantic relationship, not platonic). But like when they’re at the stage before they make up & they realize how much they miss each other. They switch the male pronouns for female ones tho.
• Treacherous: This doesn’t fit any storylines for her, but I think Santana would sound beautiful if she sang this song. I don’t know any singing terms, so stick with me here. I think that Santana should’ve sung more soft songs (you know, like ‘Songbird’) & I think ‘Treacherous’ would’ve utilized how soft her voice can sound, but also how powerful it can be. Like since the song goes from slow paced and builds up to something faster and more powerful (this prob makes no sense)
• I Knew You Were Trouble: Quinn sings this after she see’s that Puck was s/exting Santana at their sleepover! She was ready to raise a baby with this man even though she knew about his reputation. Quinn thinks that she should’ve known better, but it’s too late for that and now her heart has been ripped out of her chest.
• All Too Well: Kurt sings this after Blaine tells Kurt that he cheated. I think he should sing this in the breakup episode when he should be sleeping, but his thoughts are keeping him up. Like how he tells Finn that he barely slept. I think Kurt singing this would be kind of like why Taylor wrote it, he’s trying to understand where and why everything went wrong.
• 22: I would LOVE for Madison and Kitty to sing this during the party in Rachel’s basement in s6. I chose that pairing since they all had to sing duets in that episode and I would kill to hear those girls sing a song together. Also I can totally see everyone having a great time on the dance floor, kind of like how everyone was partying during ‘Somebody Loves You.’ I think this would be a good song to keep the energy up.
• I Almost Do: I want Marley to sing this so bad. Not for any particular reason, I just think it would go really well with her voice.
• We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: (Jarley endgame my beloved BUT) Marley sings this after her breakup with Jake. I think she’d sing this after she opens her locker and a whole bunch of flowers that Jake put in there fall out. She’s starting to get fed up with Jake begging for her to come back & she decides that the best way to get her feelings across is to sing this song to him in the middle of glee club.
• Stay Stay Stay: I don’t have a specific situation I want her to sing this in, but I think Tina would sound AMAZING on this song. Like it’s such a fun song & I can so see her singing it because it’s underrated just like her.
• The Last Time: Rachel sings this when she’s on her way back to Lima in the breakup episode to talk to Finn.
• Holy Ground: I feel like this would be SUCH a good song for Mercedes about her relationship with Sam. Like she’s being her pop star self and sees something that reminds her of Sam while on tour. She’s filled with nothing but good memories. She’ll always have love for him in her heart. AND omg the line “And I see your face now in every crowd” because Sam was her biggest fan and always will be.
• Sad Beautiful Tragic: This would be a good song for Blaine to sing after the s4 Klaine breakup. Like I think this would fit perfectly w/ how the song is about how distance tore them apart in the long run. The whole bridge fits their situation so well, especially the lines “Distance, timing, breakdown, fighting / Silence, the train runs off its tracks / Kiss me, try to fix it, could you just try to listen?”
• The Lucky One: This song is deadass about Rachel. It would be wrong to assign it to anyone that isn’t her. Like she was a star who moved to L.A. to make her name even bigger. She quickly learned though that Hollywood life wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. She had to leave town to save face. Here are some lines that fit perfectly imo: “You had it figured out since you were in school” & “And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared / How you took the money and your dignity, and got the hell out”
• Everything Has Changed: I feel like this would be a super cute Hevans duet. I have no real explanation, I just want them to sing this soooo bad... maybe during duets week...
• Starlight: This would be such a fun group number at the end of an episode. I want the leads for this song to be Artie, Tina, and Unique. I think they'd make this number a lot of fun and I would love to hear the three of their voices in a song together.
• Begin Again: Quinn sings this song about the first girl she dates, mainly because there's nothing more gay than meeting someone in a cafe. The other man that she’s comparing the person she’s with to symbolizes all the men she’s dated. The line "I've been spending the last eight months / Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end” is about how Quinn isn’t the best at relationships. All she wants is to be loved, but she hurts everyone she’s with. But with this girl, it’s like none of that matters.
• The Moment I Knew: Kitty sings this about Artie when he forgets about her while she’s in New York. I don’t think it would fit any specific canon event, but I can imagine something similar to the song happening to them & Kitty just knowing that this was the end.
• Come Back...Be Here: Brittany sings this because of how she wants nothing more than Santana to be there with her. Like she said before they broke up that she feels like she’s suffocating with Santana & I think that this song would help Brittany convey how she feels.
• Girl At Home: I don’t know why, but I want Artie to sing this. I just think he’d have fun with it.

what i think each og new direction member's social media presence would be like
basically i’ve been doing nothing all day and i’m way too addicted to social media and i started thinking about this so here we are. also i’m just gonna pretend social media was a big thing when they were at school (it obviously wasn’t but lets pretend this is set in like 2016 or smth)
rachel berry
lets be honest rachel would be so damn annoying on social media (not like that’s a surprise tho she’s annoying anyway)
she’d definitely use instagram the most
she’d post photos of her and finn holding hands and caption it like ‘My world, I love this boy 🔐❤️🌏✨’ and then deletes them all when they break up
EXCESSIVE use of emojis
posts selfies and quote song lyrics in the caption
posts what she’s listening to on her stories (usually boradway) and feels very entitled because of it
posts singing videos
santana and brit probably bully her in the comments of her posts lbr
honestly i can’t see her having any other forms of social media tbh, she just always uses instagram
auto caps stay ON at all times bc it’s ‘against the rules of basic grammar’
tries to talk in the nd groupchat but no one likes her or listens. like ‘What song should I do for a solo this week’ and then it starts a massive argument
finn hudson
one of those boys who just takes photos of The Scenery™ and no photos of him
maybe posts some photos of him and rachel when they’re together though
actually he probably does the same thing as rachel like ‘Can’t believe this girl is mine 😍💗’ and commenting ‘Love You ❤️’ on her posts but it just seems v high school
probably not very active but uses instagram the most
does a lot of those ask thingys on instagram like ‘send me an emoji and i’ll say what i think about you’ LMAO
i feel like he’s not very involved with it because he prefers video games more lol
uses ‘😂’ unironically
auto caps on and doesn’t even know having them off is a thing
noah puckerman
USES SNAPCHAT. nothing else. but he does have insta
has sent streaks to everyone he’s friends with on sc and will continue to until he’s like 25
posts way too many mirror selfies with the flash on without his shirt off (ew)
literally never talks in the nd groupchat
auto caps on - actually he probably Types Like This All The Time
has A Rule that if he’s talking to a girl he has to not reply for at least 2 hours but if it’s a guy then he has to reply asap (bros before hoes type vibe)
blaine anderson
i really don’t think he’d use it that much??? i feel like he’d get too overwhelmed ahdkjhdjs
WAIT APART FROM TUMBLR
he’s probably very involved with tumblr and is part of the star wars fandom/marvel fandom
his ao3 history is between him and his computer only
ppl wanna be his friend on tumblr because he’s just nice and kind 🥺
he’s probably quite popular on there - has a lot of followers
but he doesn’t really use any others - has an instagram but there’s no posts on there
maybe he tries to spread awareness on his insta stories???
hates snapchat with a passion
uses :) :( <3 ;_; way too much (he’s on tumblr)
has auto caps off. like he’s a fanboy okay he’s on TUMBLR fgs.
occasionally talks in the nd groupchat but is normally a bit intimidated by all the arguments it causes
v open about his sexuality on his insta (has a 🌈in his bio🥺)
brittany pierce
she uses all of the main ones (insta and snapchat)
posts loads of photos of lord tubbington on there and adds loads of gifs on her stories
such!! a wholesome!!! insta page!!!!!
lots of mirror selfies with the flash on
bad spelling 😔
tries to do those story bingo things but gives up when she gets confused
also has another insta account to build her fondue for 2 channel
auto caps OFF
uses all the pretty emojis way too much like ‘went to the park 🏞 it was so ✨💗 fun!!! 🌸🌈☀️ we had a good time 😍’
is the QUEEN of the nd groupchat along with santana. tbh her and santana would just use it as their place to talk about everything rather than private messages
santanna lopez
her whole instagram is just selfies
uses snapchat quite a lot but when she gets older she stops completely and deletes it ‘snapchat is for straight ppl’
cyberbullies rachel ajhfdsjhd
does ops on her story and is just brutally honest to everyone who asks
auto caps stay on but sometimes she forces her keyboard to type all lowercase
NEVER uses emojis. not even :( or :) she just never uses them ever
has a tiktok addiction for when she gets sad about britt (especially s2 when britt isn’t with her)
kurt hummel
uses instagram to show off his outfits
especially when he gets older and lives in ny!!
there’d be such cute lil videos of him and blaine on his story like taking videos of his ootd and then blaine photobombing and then he zooms in on him and laughs ok i’ve thought about this too much
compliments all his besties on their photos like ‘So gorgeous 😍’
auto caps stay religiously ON but uses a lot of abbreviations like ‘btw and ily’ etc
in the early days of him and blaine being together, he’d be quite private about it but around the time just before he leaves for ny they get more public
only uses emojis for reactionary purposes eg. to compliment friends
posts photos of anything. honestly i want to see his insta it’d be so cute
has a private instagram for his close friends where he shitposts his whole life like ‘Dad’s taking us to get mcdonalds!!!!’ with blaine
sam evans
posts shirtless pics and all the girls thirst over him ajdhksjdk
uses insta more than snapchat but always sends streaks (maybe when he’s younger tho like around season 4 i don’t think he would be anymore)
also v wholesome though??? like i think he’d post pics of what flowers he got his mum for mothers day
posts pics of mercedes on his story when they’re together 🥺
posts his favourite songs on his story
auto caps ON bc he doesn’t know having them off is a thing lol
uses 😂 unironically
mercedes jones
doesn’t post much on any social media platforms but is always liking everyone elses posts and complimenting her friends
posts more on her story than anything else
when she gets more confident in herself tho, she posts more (especially when she moves to new york)
occasional photos of sam when they’re dating with a lil love heart emoji on her story
lots of emojis but she uses them when necessary
auto caps on!!!
tina cohen-chang
THE SAME AS RACHEL WITH MIKE but like 10 times less annoying and people actually care
literally the cutest couple on instagram with the new directions group
uses the nd groupchat quite regularly bc people actually LISTEN to her there
has a cute lil gc with sam and blaine with some weird ass name
switches to auto caps off after she goes through her goth phase
uses :) and :( and also a few pretty emojis eg. 💗☀️✨🌟💐🍬 to make her captions looks pretty
v quick replier
quinn fabray
this bitch has too many emotions for social media ok?
just watches tiktok to cheer herself up but it makes her more sad
has an instagram but never posts on there
if you wanna message her just text because she’ll never reply otherwise
disappears off the face of the earth during her skank phase. deletes her instagram and everything
auto caps on but it doesn’t even matter because she never even needs to use her keyboard
(we’re talking s3 tho. in like s1 she’d have been into it to keep up her persona lol. her insta would’ve defo had over 1k followers)
mike chang
uses insta more than sc and posts photos of him and tina on his story
fast replier - loyal king
fully ignores the nd groupchat because he avoids drama 😌✨
non caps because it ‘looks friendlier and not like you’re shouting’
will help you with your homework if you have any questions
like ‘hey have you done this english homework?? i can’t find any good quotes that’ll help with the question’ and he’ll reply fast with a whole list bc he’s an academic KING
would love to post some dancing videos but gets too scared :(
artie abrams
has no social media and is rlly annoying bc its so hard to contact him
auto caps on. i mean like how would u know having them off was a thing if you don’t have any socials
fully punctuates every text

I’m a little confused on how anyone can think that having multiple relationships can diminish the endgame one? No hate to anon, but like you said I think it makes their endgame better because she always chose to come back to Santana. It would be easy to say she stuck with Santana because she was her only relationship- and it would be unrealistic to only stick with the one person you dated, not saying rhat doesn’t happen but it’s not common; except that didn’t happen because Britt had the opportunity to go out and date who she wanted and get experiences but in the end the only person she wanted was Santana, she chose her over everyone.
To be fair to that anon, I'm not sure I was interpreting their statement correctly. But I agree with you; Brittany having had other relationships does not mean her love for Santana is any lesser.
Gosh, I just keep thinking of that one person on reddit who insisted Brittany "settled" for Santana and never really loved her. Why does this have to be the bad take to live in my head rent free? Brittany "I love you more than I've ever loved anyone" S. Pierce didn't settle for Santana at the ripe old age of 21.
I have two main thoughts, one is like you say about how Britt dating other people only strengthens her eventual relationship (marriage!) to Santana. I have separate feelings about both Bartie and Bram but Brittany dating Artie and then Sam didn't take away from what she had with Santana. I think Glee had a tendency to ignore everything but whatever current ship they had the characters in (except when it came to Finchel) and Bram especially was guilty of that. But overall, the way I view it, Brittany loved both Artie and Sam at different points in time. And she broke up with both and she went back to Santana because at the end of the day, that was who she wanted to live out the rest of her life with. Was she not supposed to date others, after Santana shut her down the first time and broke up with her the second time?
If anything, I like that Brittany has relationships with men and they're equally valid. Her feelings for them aren't treated as temporary stops but as genuine in the moment, and her relationship with Santana isn't a phase. There's a lot to say about Glee and bi rep but I have a whole Pride Month feature on Brittany and the things that were handled well (that I might end up posting on here).
The other thing, something I hear quite often, is people saying they never got the feeling Britt was as into Santana as Santana was into her. I think a lot of that stems from a) acting differences and b) Santana's much larger role in the story. But I still don't agree because Brittany loved Santana with her whole heart and I'm over people saying Santana deserved better. Santana didn't want better! She'd be furious at the notion that Brittany is somehow not good enough for her. Brittany believed in Santana when no one did and gave her time and space but also pushed her to break unhealthy cycles. And Brittany also had other relationships where she genuinely did care about the people and could have decided to move on with whoever from MIT or something, but she loved Santana and loved her until infinity.
Idk TL;DR it only makes their story better that Brittany dated others and existed separately from Santana, and still chose her over everyone. I'm actually a big fan of their breakup and how the two develop in that time and I probs wouldn't be nearly as satisfied with their endgame if they stayed together throughout.

quinn for the ask game!!
thanks for the ask 💛
how i feel about this character
ive grown to love her a lot. i think shes a very interesting character who suffered a lot and ultimately deserved way better than what she got. also shes extremely pretty and i cant say i don’t enjoy looking at her
all the people i ship romantically with this character
rachel. they both had so many unresolved feelings for each other and i think they would have been a really good couple
i also happen to enjoy the thought of quinn dating sugar
my non-romantic OTP for this character
i love her friendship with mercedes. tbf they would also make an amazing couple but i personally prefer them platonic. i also really like the idea of her and artie being best friends
my unpopular opinion about this character
as much as i dislike the stealing a baby plot i don’t think it’s entirely out of character for her. quinn was going through a lot and in season 3 everything started to catch up with her. i would have liked it if that concept was executed in a better way but i guess you can’t have everything
also i don’t think her friendship with santana and brittany was that good. at least not in the way it was portrayed in canon. which is sad because quinn deserves all the friends
one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
in a perfect world quinn realized that she’s a lesbian after hooking up with santana and never dated another man ever again :)

Awkward Situations Hevans FanFiction Chapter 3/6: Study Date
Just some Heavns fluff, my favorite fluff 🥰🥰. Feel free to read and review on here, A03 or FanFiction.Net and have a great day/ night!!
Archive Of Our Own
FanFiction.Net (Chapter 3)
Everyone was over at Finn and Kurt’s house, hanging out in their backyard. Santana, Quinn and Brittany were lounging in the pool chairs, yelling at Puck, Finn, Mike or Tina whenever they splashed them. Rachel and Mercedes were in the grass with Blaine, Nick, Jeff and Sebastian talking about some Broadway musical while Artie talked with Thad and David about a rock band that the three of them listened to. Wes was sitting alone, shaking his head at something he was reading on his phone. Only two people were missing.
“Where are Kurt and Sam?” Santana asked, looking around for the two boys.
“Hmm, I don’t know,” Finn shrugged, everyone stopping what they were doing to look for them.’’
“Together I assume?” Jeff said, raising his eyebrows.
“Of course they are,” Puck confirmed, hopping out of the pool and grabbing a towel. “And that’s why I’m going to find them,”
“I’ll come with you,” Finn said, hopping out as well. “And we should record again,”
“Totally,” Puck agreed, grabbing his phone. “Come on let’s go,”
Finn and Puck dried off some (Carol would’ve killed them both if they got water on her floor) and quietly slid open the screen door to creep inside. They heard talking coming from the kitchen and walked over to the doorway, taking turns peeking over the corner to see what they were doing.
Kurt and Sam were both sitting at the table, looking over a notebook and some textbooks. They were close together and were taking turns looking at each other, lovingly when they thought the other wasn’t looking.
“Okay so you have six x to the power of two minus seventeen x plus twelve equals zero. What type of equation is that?” Kurt asked, pointing to something in the textbook.
“Umm…” Sam said, writing something in his notebook. “Linear?”
“Try again,”
“Quadratic?”
“Yes,” Kurt exclaimed. “And what number is a?”
“Six,”
“Yes again,”
“God, I never knew math could be so easy. I guess I just needed the right teacher,” Sam said, looking over at Kurt and nudging him in his shoulder.
“No, that was all you Sam,” Kurt told him, blushing. “You’re really smart,”
“Thanks. I’ve never been called smart before,”
“Well you are,”
“What have you never been called before?”
“I don’t know,” Kurt shrugged. “Why?”
“So I can call you that,”
“You don’t have to do that for me,”
“But I want to. You’re amazing and you just helped me big time. I would’ve probably failed that test I have if it wasn’t for you,”
“Well I’ve never been called amazing before so…”
“You’re amazing Kurt,”
“You’re smart Sam,”
They were really close now, almost kissing distance with their foreheads almost touching as they stared into each other’s eyes. It took everything in Puck and Finn to not laugh at the both of them. They were so into each other and everyone knew it but them, it was hilarious.
“Damnit, why does he have to be so cute?” Sam thought to himself. “I’m think I love him,”
“Why did he have to call me that?” Kurt thought to himself. “I think I love him,”
“JUST KISS ALREADY,” Finn and Puck both shouted, startling Sam and Kurt.
“Oh my- oh my god,” Kurt said, jumping back in his chair as Sam did as well. “What are you two doing?”
“You’re always doing that aren’t you?” Sam asked them, annoyed that they ruined the moment he was having with Kurt.
“Sure are,” Finn said. “Are you two dating yet?”
“No,” Kurt rolled his eyes. “Why would you ask?”
“You guys were about to kiss,” Puck pointed out. “And we didn’t want to keep watching you two just stare at each other like that so we intervened,”
“We weren’t going to kiss,” Sam said. “Right?” He asked Kurt.
“Right, we aren’t dating, we’re just friends,” Kurt said with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
“Just friends,” Sam reassured, mostly himself, sadly.
“Whatever, you guys love each other,” Finn mocked them while Puck made kissy faces at them.
“I hate you,” Kurt pouted.
“If you two aren’t in love then why are you always blushing at each other?” Puck asked.
“And what was the whole “Kurt you’re amazing” and “Sam you’re smart” stuff?”
“He is amazing,” Sam defended.
“And he’s smart,”
“And you’re both hot and nice and awesome so just date already,” Puck groaned.
“I’m leaving,” Kurt said, standing up and shaking his head. “Thanks a lot,” He hissed at Puck and Finn before pushing past them and going outside.
“Let me guess,” Sam said once Kurt left. “You were recording all of that?”
“Yep,” Finn told him. “Maybe once you see it you’ll man up and admit you’re in love with my brother,”
“I’m not- I’m not admitting anything. You guys are jerks,” Sam said, standing up and walking away from them to go outside.
“We just want to help you man,” Puck said as he and Finn followed after him. “Just get a pair and tell him,”
“I’m ignoring you,”
“You’ll get there dude,” Finn patted him on the shoulder as they walked outside.
“There he is,” Sebastian exclaimed. “Nice video Sam,”
Sam shot a dirty look at Puck and Finn who just shrugged in return as everyone else laughed together, all in a group surrounded by Artie’s phone. Everyone except Kurt who was sitting on one of the pool chairs, hiding his face in embarrassment.
“You’re smart Kurt,” Mercedes mocked him, making everyone laugh harder. “Sorry Sam, I love you but you’re way too whipped,”
“I’m not whipped,” Sam corrected them, taking off his shirt and walking over to the pool chairs. “It’s never going to happen, let it go,”
“Never,” Brittany said.
Finn and Puck joined the group who continued to rewatch the video over and over again and laughing while Sam and Kurt sat on opposite sides of the pool, Kurt reading a book and Sam tanning, both ignoring their friends. And thinking of each other, stealing glances at one another when the other wasn’t looking.
“I could totally ask him out if I wanted to,” Kurt told himself. “But he’s straight. But he doesn’t seem like it. But I’ve already been through this with him, I can’t fall for him again. But I’ve already fallen and now I’m in love. Well maybe not in love but I guess I’m crushing on him again and that’s creepy. He doesn’t even like me back, we’re just friends. But I still really like him. Dammit,”
“I could totally ask him out if I wanted to,” Sam told himself. “But he’s too out of my league, I would just embarrass myself. Which I already keep doing. But he’s so cute and sometimes I think he likes me too. Am I making it up? I mean we did fall asleep on each other and he did kiss my cheek under the mistletoe. But he kind of had to right, it wasn’t because he wanted to? But we were about to kiss again before Finn and Puck interrupted us right? No, I don’t think so. At least he thinks I’m smart. What if he thinks I’m cute like I think he is? This is so hard, I like him,”
“I love him,” They both thought, looking up and meeting each other's eyes before quickly looking back down. “I’m in love,”

this is my first post
Hullo. This is my 3rd time rewriting this, because sumthin’ kept fucking up every time I tried to write it. But let’s hope this time goes smoothly cause I got a lot to say. I don’t have anywhere else to put this, so I decided, why not come to Tumblr and see what everyone else thinks. So, let’s get started. I have been a Gleek since I was in 6th grade. And as much as I know that the show is cringey and hard to watch, my sister and I genuinely enjoyed it (although now we mostly watch it ironically). And we always had a favoritism system going, our favorite characters were blatantly obvious, and we were fishing for least favorite characters when we could. So, our lists of favorite characters/ships looked a little something like this: Favorites: -Kurt Hummel -Finn Hudson -Rachel Berry -Santana Lopez -Brittany S Pierce -Blaine Anderson Least favorites: -Quinn Fabray -Noah Puckerman -Terry Schue -Sue Sylvester -Jessie St James -Sebastian Smythe Favorite ships: -Finchel -Klaine -Brittana -Wemma And even though that doesn’t seem like there’s anything wrong with that set up in particular, I’m going to explain to you why my views have changed. Especially on my least favorite characters. And disclaimer!! Any and all of these characters that I list on my least favorites have nothing to do with race, gender, disability, sexuality etc. They are solely based on personality and how their actions affected others. That’s it. That’s what I’m basing it off of. Same goes for my favorite characters as well. And believe me I will give a lengthy explanation for each and every one of them I promise. So I’m going to be listing the least favorites from LEAST bad/toxic to MOST bad/toxic. And don’t be upset if one of your favorites are on here. Just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean you can’t like them. Just make that clear. These are only things that I’ve picked up and I’ve noticed throughout the show and watching back important clips and such from the show. Coming in at #7: Mercedes Jones: I know what’s coming already. And I’m going to have to tell y’all this loud and clear. Mercedes is not a diva. She’s just a bitch. I’ve never liked Mercedes, and not because she was black, but just because she had an awful personality and she was awful to the people around her. I think the only time I really saw her being nice to someone was when she was dating Sam, or when she was dating that football player. And a few times when she was with Kurt. The main problem I have with her is in S1E3: Bust Your Windows, she busted Kurt’s front windshield all because he had a crush on someone else. And I can guarantee you guys this. If a guy did that to a girl, like if Kurt had done that to Mercedes instead, y’all would’ve been outraged. She had no reason to bust his window like that and then get all sassy to him when he got upset about it. Coming in at #6: Santana Lopez: And this is another character that y’all are so set on saying that she’s a diva. But no. Santana is a straight up bitch. And before you guys say “she was closeted/insecure/outed!” etc, Kurt was also insecure and closeted in the first season and he was never rude to anybody in the way Santana was. And secondly, Finn didn’t out her until S3E6: Mash Off, and I can tell you she had been acting like a huge bitch way before then. All I have to do is pull up all of the times she’s been anti-semetic to Rachel, fatphobic to Finn and Lauren, attacked people’s insecurities and was just being god awful. One of my least favorite scenes from her is when she went on that entire rant about why Blaine and Kurt didn’t work out, and she attacked Kurt’s teeth, his sexuality, his dancing, his s3xual appeal, and just about everything Kurt was insecure about. All because he said that he thought Santana and Brittany were too young to get married. And I honestly agreed with him, Britt and San were 19. Definitely too young to get married, and Kurt was just trying to relate his failure with Blaine to warn them that getting married this young wasn’t something that they wanted to do. But no. Santana didn’t listen to him trying to reason with her, she just told him basically “you suck, Blaine really hates you, get your crap together.” And I have always had a problem with it. Not to mention she called Quinn a slut. And no matter what situation you are in, I don’t believe it’s okay to call any girl a slut. Actually, I don’t think it’s okay to call anybody a slut. Because I’m bringing this back. If Finn had called Quinn a slut, you guys would be all over him and cancelling that character so fast, but as soon as Santana says it, it’s okay? That never sat right with me either. And again, the way she relentlessly bullies Rachel for everything she’s insecure about, especially her height and nose is not okay. It doesn’t matter how much you dislike someone. Making fun of her nose to the point where as soon as she breaks it, she’s immediately thinking of getting a nose job. That is not okay. And there’s a speculation that Santana was the one who pushed Rachel over the edge to try and fall into bulimia. And I don’t doubt it. Santana is not a nice person. And her internalised homophobia does not excuse anything that she’s said or done. Not to mention she has Britt wrapped around her finger and she knows that she’ll do anything she asks. Like when Santana was fantasizing about forcing Britt to break up with Artie if she became Prom Queen because it would be “the law of the land” that is absolutely inexcusable. Because we all know Britt is naive and has some sort of DD or autism, and the characters in the show take that and use it to their advantage. Especially Santana. Coming in at #5: Artie Abrams: Now before you come for my ass, let me tell you. I actually used to really like Artie. He was pretty high up on my ranking Glee characters lists that I used to make all the time. But now that I’ve rewatched and I’ve noticed more things, I just cant like him with a good conscience. Remember in season 1 when Tina told him that she doesn’t really have a stutter? Well, if you remember, he broke up with her after that. But if you were closely watching the show, you should’ve realised that Tina has some sort of social anxiety, (not that I’m excusing her faking a disability), but she has a reason for doing it. She (presumably) took up the stutter because she needed a way to avoid having to speak so much in public. Which is totally understandable! Artie didn’t have to break up with her. She confided in him to finally tell him what she had been hiding for so long and he just breaks up with her??? Are you kidding? That just goes to show that one of the only reasons he was dating her was because of her disability. If he broke up with her so fast for not actually having one. Even though she had an actual reason that she did it. Another thing about Artie that I hate is that he called Britt stupid. And that is a huge deal. Everyone in the school calls Britt stupid or something along those lines (even Santana) and as soon as she finds the one guy who doesn’t think that way of her, he breaks her trust. She technically did cheat on him, but as I said earlier, she bends to Santana’s every order and she has some sort of DD or autism and didn’t understand that it was cheating. She even told Artie she didn’t understand it. And instead of sitting her down and explaining to her and giving her a second chance to prove her new knowledge to good use, he just calls her stupid and makes her cry. And then this one is obvious. Artie didn’t fucking wear c0ndoms while he was having s3x with those two girls in New York and didn’t actually tell them he had chlamydia. Which just pissed me off so much it makes me angry just talking about it. Coming in at #4: Finn Hudson: Oh ho ho. Finn Hudson makes me so angry. Let me just start off with everything he did (and didn’t do) to/for Kurt. Starting with the infamous “faggy scene” after Kurt tried to make amends with Finn for all the arguing they had been doing by redecorating their room. As ugly as it looked (lmao), he did his best to try and appeal to what a straight guy would like without making it too masculine so he would feel comfortable sleeping in there too. He tried to appeal to Finn’s interests as well as his own and had to do it all on short notice. But as soon as Finn saw it, the first thing he said was “are you freaking insane?” and Kurt just deflated. If you watch the scene, you can see it. You can physically see Kurt’s hard work all go to waste because of that comment. But then Finn follows it up with saying “I can’t live here, I’m a dude.” That line for me is the one that really made me dislike Finn very very strongly, because he not only said Kurt wasn’t a man to his face, he also views Kurt as nothing but his sexuality. That is further proven when he describes how uncomfortable he is around Kurt just because Kurt has a crush on him. And yes, Kurt was creepy, but after then, when they started living together, he just tried his best to make Finn feel as welcome and as comfortable as he can make him feel. But then sees that everything has been pointless, because Finn makes it a point to tell him that he puts his underwear on in the shower before he comes out when Kurt’s around. And that’s just fucked up. And a lot of people say that Finn “didn’t mean it” when he said the f-slur, but let me tell you something. You don’t just accidentally say something twice out of anger. If you really didn’t mean it, you would apologise right when it left your mouth. But Finn’s lack of an apology only proves that he meant every word of what he said. Next is when Finn refused to help Kurt out with Karofsky. I can only talk briefly about this because it actually makes me so fucking mad I can’t explain it. So, Rachel asks him to help Kurt out and confront Karofsky, right? And Finn refuses. Because, and I quote: “We both know I can help him more if I stay on top.” And I think he even says “Kurt will be fine” too, completely ignoring the fact that Kurt is so terrified to go to school, he’s losing weight (there are speculations that he cuts), but Finn doesn’t care about that. He only cares about the fact that he needs to stay popular. Oh and the fact that Karofsky plays right guard and wont guard him during the football game is he’s pissed and they’ll lose. He picks FOOTBALL and POPULARITY over his soon-to-be stepbrother’s MENTAL/EMOTIONAL/PYSICAL H E A L T H. I cannot explain how angry that makes me. Not to mention, the amounts of times he’s played victim. Especially with Rachel. One time that really pisses me off is when he goes “have you ever thought about what I’m going to do in New York?” and Rachel starts stammering over herself and assuring him that she’ll find something that he fits into since he doesn’t know what he’s going to do with his future. And then he asks her about California and Puck’s pool business. Even though he knows Rachel has been set on New York and NYADA since she was a little girl. He knows that she has all of those ambitions and she has an entire plan in her life and she’s already trying to shift those plans to fit Finn in with her. And for him to tell her that he wants her to give all of that up to come with him and Puck to California is actually more selfish than Rachel is. Oh! And not to mention he outed Santana too. Let’s not forget that. In front of basically the whole damn school too. He also kissed Emma. And he also cheated on Rachel with Quinn. And then actually broke up with Rachel when she made out with Puck a bit because she wanted to get him back for cheating on her and sleeping with Santana (even though it doesn’t excuse what she did at all, I just think Finn was being a hypocrite.) And he also cheated on Quinn with Rachel in the first season, and he led Rachel on for the entire first season, Or most of it at least. Coming in at #3: Mr. Schue: I’m just gonna speed through this: -He was a creep/pedo with both the girls and the boys -He had a savior complex and tried to force Emma’s OCD away and fix it instead of help her -He encouraged Emma’s crush on him even while he was married -He twerked with a bunch of minors -Suspended a minor for not wearing a bra she was uncomfortable in -He dealt really badly with Rachel’s crush on him -Never listened to his students’ input -hallucinated children while he was sick -Was very awkwardly touchy with his students -His best friend was 19 -refused to stop twerking even when offered the exchange for a trans student to use a staff bathroom to avoid getting bullied -overreacted after finding out Terry wasn’t pregnant Now the moments you’ve all been waiting for. Coming in at #2: Noah Puckerman: Now I was stuck on Puck for a while, I didn’t think he really was that bad of a guy for a long time. But just one thing Quinn says was enough to sway me and put him this high on my list. In one of the earlier episodes, Puck starts teasing her and being a dick after finding out she’s pregnant. And so she says: “You got me drunk off of wine coolers and I was feeling fat that day...” Now if you break that sentence down, she literally says “you got me drunk.” implying that Puck himself wasn’t drunk when this all took place. Meaning, Noah Puckerman r@ped Quinn Fabray. She never cheated on Finn. Puck purposely got her drunk just so he could get what he wanted. Especially considering she never put out and she was president of the Celibacy Club. Now must I say anything else? No. I didn’t think so. And finally, coming in at #1: Blaine Anderson: I know Blaine is everyone’s smol bean gay bb boy. (*gag) but I have to tell you that he is not a good person whatsoever. I’ll give him credit though. In the 2nd season he was really sweet and I actually really liked him. But as the seasons progressed, he got worse. In S3E5, Blaine and Kurt go to a gay bar together, and Kurt helps Blaine out after he gets too drunk. Then as soon as he tries to get Blaine in the car, Blaine starts coming onto him and kissing his neck and trying to convince him to have s3x with him, even though Kurt keeps repetitively saying no. And then he plays the victim after Kurt blows up at him and says “well I’m sorry for trying to be spontaneous and fun!” and then proceeds to walk home, getting mad at Kurt for nothing. Then in another episode. I think it was later in season 3, Kurt meets Chandler. And Blaine had been ignoring him for a while before that, so Kurt starts talking to Chandler only because he makes him feel good about himself. And he obviously thought it was okay because Blaine did the same thing with Sebastian but called him all the time and flirted with him and dirty danced with him etc. So when Blaine goes through Kurt’s phone, he finds the messages and makes a huge deal out of it and accuses Kurt of cheating on him. Then publicly humiliates him in front of the Glee club with a song about cheating. And then proceeds to go and cheat on him anyway. And then as soon as they were going to NYADA together, Blaine didn’t like all the attention Kurt was getting after he started to get more fit and more attractive and he was extremely jealous of him and over protective, not letting Kurt have any other male attention. At all. And Blaine is just super stingy with Kurt and doesn’t let him live his life and then pays victim whenever he gets confronted by him. Oh and not to mention he dated the one person that made Kurt’s life a living hell for the longest time and decided to rub it in his face. So there we have it folks. My new least favorite Glee characters and all the reasons why. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

“Can we start over?” Britt
Tumblr media
“Wait. Are you working on a time machine too...?” Though whimsical by nature, automatically making light of the situation with a well timed joke or a seemingly silly comment could sometimes be one of Brittany’s defence mechanisms. And though Brittany always tried to be open with others, honest with herself about who she was and how she was feeling...she knew it wasn’t all that easy for others. Santana and her had come so far in the past few years; sneaking into each other’s bunk beds at cheer camp, her hand over Santana’s mouth as they made love with the guy they’d both hooked up with that night asleep on the other side of the room. Stealing glances in the choir room. Breaking each others’ hearts, insecurities and fear clouding youthful eyes to...this. To taking long, luxurious baths together, Brittany’s fingers skilfully massaging special shampoo into Santana’s scalp while Lord Tubbington did the dishes from their Friday date night. To holding hands under the napkin at Breadstix and letting Brittany nuzzle into her armpits first thing in the morning. To whispered I love yous in the privacy of their own bedrooms instead of a cold shoulder and a total denial of their romantic feelings for each other. Yes, the two had come far, and Brittany had no doubt in her mind that they would have years together yet. There wasn’t a future, immediate or otherwise, she could imagine without her best friend. God knows it wasn’t one she wanted to experience.
And Brittany knew how hard it has all been for Santana. She may not have the highest GPA, and she knew the jokes that the football players made in the locker room about how they like it rough, dumb and blonde, and the snide comments the cheerios made among themselves when they thought she wasn’t around, or when they intended to be cruel. But she had Santana smarts, and sometimes that made Brittany feel like she was the smartest woman in the world. After all, who wouldn’t want to be fluent in the language of Santana Lopez? She knew exactly how the other girl was feeling dependent on the quirk of a brow, the curl of a lip...sure she knew what made her blush and what made panted moans leave full lips. But she also knew what made Santana’s heart pound and what scared her beyond belief. And she knew what Santana meant by wanting to start over. They’d hurt each other so much already...Brittany with Artie and Santana by refusing point blank to acknowledge what they had between them. And god if she could take back choosing him over Santana...she’d choose Santana a thousand times. She always would and in a way she always had. Deep down, though, Brittany knew it wasn’t that easy. No amount of magic or quantum physics could change the fact that this was their journey, it was genuine and it had led them here. Happy, a little scared, but nonetheless where they should be. “San...” Her voice is as gentle as ever as she reaches to brush stray hairs from a worried brow, fingers resting splayed against Santana’s cheek. And it takes all of her energy not to kiss her; not here. Santana’s not ready for that and...Brittany’s willing to wait if that’s what it takes. If it means that twenty years down the line she’s still linking pinkies with Santana while an elderly Lord Tubbington sits at their feet. “I know you think it’s easier to start over. And sometimes I think so too...but I also believe in us. Who we are, what we’ve done...it’s all led to this. And I think that’s awesome. We’re awesome. I wouldn’t change us for the world. Starting over isn’t going to fix everything.” Her forehead wrinkled in thought. “Well...maybe if it got LT to kick his nicotine addiction.” A smile fleeted across pink lips, before her expression grew serious again. “I love you, Santana. I love you. You don’t have to change for me, because I love you for who you are. I always have. I wish you could see yourself how I see you because you’re perfect. You’re my best friend.” @sntana

miasswier’s ultimate glee ranking: no 10
10: A Wedding
Tumblr media
Written by: Ross Maxwell Directed by: Bradley Buecker
Overall Thoughts: When I first saw this episode, I probably would have ranked it a lot lower than it is now. It’s grown on me, a lot. Stuff that used to bother me no longer does, and I’ve come to accept it for what it is. There are still a few things I will forever hold onto, but for the most part, I find it a sweet, emotional, romantic episode.
What I Like:
I mean, Brittana and Klaine get married. We actually got to see that happening. I will be forever grateful that we got that.
The story of Brittany being born, and Santana’s mom being like “I can roll with this” and Brittany’s mom going “You better”
Brittany’s outfit during the barn setup.
Brittany’s freak out during the barn setup.
Kurt telling Walter he’s going to the wedding with Blaine, essentially breaking up with him, before he even asked Blaine to go to the wedding together. I don’t know if this was actually an inconsistency, but I love the idea that Kurt has gotten to the point of being so certain of his relationship with Blaine that he would rather go alone after being turned down by Blaine than go with Walter.
Kurt and Blaine getting back together before they get married.
Kurt literally running to Blaine.
Brittany and Santana’s wedding dress fashion show.
Brittany going to slaughter a chicken, and Santana going “hell no, this is ridiculous” and just fucking releasing the chicken into the hallways of McKinley like oh my god
Sue actually doing something nice for Santana in order to earn being invited to the wedding.
The way that the story with Santana’s grandmother is dealt with. I know some people disagreed with it, but I felt it was really touching. I know sometimes it’s tough to understand that people can love you without loving every single part of you, and it’s tough especially with such essential things like your sexuality, but when someone sets that aside to celebrate you and show they love you, it means everything. I recently had a friend tell me that he couldn’t wait to attend my “hipster lesbian wedding”, and like, he’s someone that I genuinely thought if I married a woman he would not attend my wedding. So to hear him say that was so touching I almost started crying. I’m  not even dating anyone, but knowing that if I did date someone, and I decided to marry that someone, and that someone was a girl, that this ultra conservative, highkey homophobic dude would not only accept the invitation, but go with excitement, meant so damn much to me. Yeah, it’s nice when people accept you fully and completely for who you are. But it’s also nice when they are able to set aside things you disagree on because they love you.
Kurt and Blaine getting the scene with Burt and Carole. I think that scene has really helped me with my biggest issue with this episode (which I will address below).
We finally address the Finn aspect of Rachel’s relationship with Sam, even if barely.
Their vowssssss.
Burt marrying them.
Literally the whole reception is fantastic.
The fact that we get some closure on Mike and Tina’s relationship after all these years!
Artie and Tina agreeing to be each other’s back-ups (even better knowing that they end up together!)
Kurt and Blaine’s faces when Brittany and Santana reveal they get a whole month honeymoon when Kurt and Blaine got a weekend (which like, come on guys, they let you get in on their wedding at no cost to you. They deserve a nicer, longer honeymoon).
“Or Faberry, can’t get enough of the lesbians” oh Sue, you get me.
Kurt’s kitten shirt.
What I Don’t Like:
WHERE IS QUINN.
I still feel the whole double wedding is hella contrived. Especially considering that 1) Kurt interrupted Santana’s proposal and shat all over it and 2) that Sue wasn’t even supposed to be attending the wedding, so how was she so involved in this secret plot.
I also feel that a lot of agency was taken away from Kurt and Blaine. I read somewhere that the original concept for the episode was supposed to be that Kurt and Blaine had their own tuxes because they’d decided they were going to elope after the ceremony. I would have MUCH preferred that, as it would have shown that they were 100% on the same page, 100% on board, 100% ready for it. As it stands, even though I’ve grown to love the episode, I still feel that it was too impulsive, and that in the scene before the wedding Kurt looks too unsure (which I don’t know if that was Chris Colfer’s choice or the director’s choice but I really wish they had made him less freak-out-y and more conflicted, the way Blaine was). But, I digress.
That neither Kurt and Blaine or Brittany and Santana really get to dance together at their own wedding.
That Puck is shown being more touch-y with Blaine’s mom than he is with his literal girlfriend, Quinn.
Speaking of, why the hell was Blaine’s mom even invited to Brittana’s wedding in the first place?
Also, how is it that neither Brittana nor Klaine’s parents had met before this episode? When you date someone, especially seriously, your parents meet. What the heck.
Songs:
At Last: Perfect wedding song, perfect choice on singers, perfect duet. I love it.
Hey Ya: Kind of a weird choice, but I just roll with it.
I’m So Excited: A good song, but every time I watch I just get stuck on “where did they get those outfits from”
Our Day Will Come: I wish this had been a more equally sung double duet, instead of feeling like a double solo with Santana and Blaine, plus a bit of harmonizing with Brittany and Kurt. Still, I’m glad they got to sing a song at their own wedding, since they didn’t get to dance.
Final Thoughts: This episode grows on me more and more each time I watch it. The first time I watched it I was beyond disappointed that I’d invested in both these couples so much, only to get such a flippant wedding. But, the more I watch, the more I love it. And, really, at the end of the day, I’d take this contrived as hell wedding episode over no wedding episode. We actually got to see Brittana and Klaine tie the knot! That’s worth it to me.

30 Day Fandom Challenge
I'm going with a musical fandom this time, one of my favorites and I still watch reruns from time to time.
As always tagging @domsberto
Day 8- Glee
1 & 2) Favorite Character & Most Relatable Character: Sam Evans [Close Call Honorable Mentions: Kurt Hummel, Blaine Anderson, Santana Lopez, Sebastian Smythe, Jesse St James....yes I have alot of favorites]
Tumblr media
Reason: You guys should know first of all that this was a really freaking hard decision but I had always planned to put Sam as my most relatable character. The more I went back through my rewatch of Glee not to long ago the more I realized that the Southern Dork had my heart more than I realized. Sam can be a bit of a himbo most of the time but he has a heart of gold that got trampled on time and time again. He was willing to do whatever he could to be there for his friends and sometimes came up with insane conspiracy theories that were sometimes true, like when he theorized that the Warblers were juicing and it turned out he was right. He was a talented guy, able to sing and play guitar, and always managed to brighten up anyone's day no matter how shitty it was with one of his jokes and impressions. Sam got the short end of the stick in terms of an endgame ship, everyone he had ever been in a relationship with either cheated on him or left him. He literally stood right next to two of his ex girlfriends when they married *each other* and was still happy for them. Despite his family losing everything when the market crashed, he was grateful for what little he did have even if it meant he had to wear clothes given to him by friends or cheap items. He proved that he would literally do anything to help his family, like when he found a job as a male stripper to make extra cash to help his family afford certain luxuries they wouldn't be able to without extra help. He would also do anything for his friends, like when he helped Blaine gather all the rival glee clubs together to help him propose to Kurt. He could also be self conscious at times. He would often brag about his body but when no one was looking he found flaws that he didn't like about himself. Sam was an easy going, sweet, funny, closet romantic and I stan the hell out of him.
3) Most Underrated Character: Elliott Gilbert
Tumblr media
Reason: The beautiful Adam Lambert only graced us with his presence on the show as Elliott for a very short time but it was enough to make an impact on me. He was very talented and a good friend to our Gleeks living in New York at the time. He sometimes acted as the voice of reason, being an unbiased middle man when Rachel and Santana were fighting. He refused to pick sides when his friends were fighting but gave them someone to talk to and vent to. He was a fun person to be around and have a way about him that made anyone at ease once they got to know him. When Blaine moved to New York, he felt threatened by Elliott and his friendship with Kurt but Elliott reassured both Blaine and Kurt that he believed in their relationship and wasn't out to come between them. He was a chill dude who was just an all around great person to be around and I missed him when he was written off the show so that Adam could go back to his music career. I loved Elliott so much.
4) Most Overrated Character: Rachel Berry
Tumblr media
Reason: First of all Lea Michele has an amazing voice but her character Rachel is overrated because she *knows* she has an amazing voice and tends to rub it in everyone's face every chance she gets. She is always on about how she's going to be a star and how she's so much better than everyone but let's look at the facts. There are better, or equally as talented, characters on the show and when Rachel had the chance at her dream role on Broadway, she left it too soon to do a TV show that flopped after only one episode causing her to run back home with her tail between her legs to revamp the Glee Club. Sure she made it in the end after she decided to go to college (and married Jesse....yes!) But she became more humble after she lost everything and got knocked off of her high horse. I still thought she was an overrated character.
5) Least Favorite Character: Tina Cohen-Chang
Tumblr media
Reason: Tina Cohen-Agitator as Kitty once dubbed her was one of the most annoying characters on the show. She was self absorbed, even more so at time than Rachel, and constantly whined because she wasn't the center of attention. She hurt people without any remorse, like when she dumped Artie for Mike Chang or when she dropped Sam as a prom date when he didn't get nominated as prom king. She also had her weird tendencies, like rubbing vaporub on Blaine's chest when he was asleep and trying to propose to Mike when they weren't even together. She complained about *everything* and it just grated on my nerves. I really couldn't stand her. Sorry not sorry.
6) Favorite Canon Ship: Quick- Quinn Fabray & Noah Puckerman [Honorable Mentions: Brittana (Brittany & Santana), Klaine (Kurt & Blaine), and St Berry (Rachel & Jesse)]
Tumblr media
Reason: Before I start this, I know Mark Salling did some shitty things before his suicide and that is not ok but this reflects on his *character* Noah Puckerman, not Mark personally.
From the moment Quinn found out she was pregnant with Puck's baby and we the fans first see them alone together onscreen the chemistry insane. They loved each other but they never *really* dated despite having a daughter together and making out a few times. It wasn't until later, after Quinn went on the Yale and Puck joined the Air Force that they finally officially got together but even throughout the seasons you could see their love for one another. They were a beautiful couple who had a beautiful daughter (who they have up for adoption to give her a better life since they were only 16 when they had her), and probably more later after the show ended.
7) Favorite Non-Canon Pairing: Blam- Blaine Anderson & Sam Evans
Tumblr media
Reason: They were best friends and there are alot of great romances that grow from friendship. While in the show Blaine had feelings for Sam that Sam didn't return because he was straight, in the eyes of the fans they were in love. They had undeniable chemistry and were cute together. They looked out for each other and would do anything for the other. I stan Blam so much. And honestly when Blaine sang "Against all Odds" to Sam, I adored that moment because Sam saw him and even though he didn't return the feelings, though I still say Sam was in denial because later he was way too focused on the fact that Blaine wanted to do him.
8) Least Favorite Pairing: Rachel Berry & Sam Evans
Reason: I thought Rachel and Sam was such a random pairing. Yeah they had their cute moments but the chemistry felt forced between the two of them, especially since Sam was still in love with Mercedes and Rachel hadn't been with anyone since Finn died. Honestly when they eventually broke up, and Rachel ended up with Jesse (yasss), I wasn't that upset by it. I was just upset my man Sam ended up being the only one left unpaired by the end of the show, minus Mercedes.
9) Favorite Part/Moment: The Double Rainbow Wedding
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Reason: I stan both Brittana and Klaine so much. When Santana proposed to Brittany in the final season I was like yassss Queen because I adore them so much, though I was still kind of salty like Kurt was that Klaine called off their engagement. The day of the wedding, or days leading up to the wedding, however saw my other pairing getting back together and the reunion of Klaine was epic as always. Fast Forward to the day of the Brittana wedding and Brittany, with the approval of Santana and Sue, made Klaine an offer they couldn't refuse. They surprised everyone when they made their way to the alter walking Brittany and Santana and actually staying so that they could get married to. It was a beautiful ceremony that left me with one of my favorite quotes that I plan to get tattooed on my wrist "I'm a work in progress". It was moving, shocking and beautiful and I love this moment so much.
10) Least Favorite Part/Moment: The Quarterback - Finn's Death
Tumblr media
Reason: First of all, Rest in Peace Cory! You left an impact and will always be missed.
Because of the unexpected death of Cory Monteith, the writers had to kill Finn Hudson off on the show as well which lead to one of the saddest and most emotional episodes of Glee ever. It is my least favorite because I can't watch it without sobbing like a baby because you can tell the emotions of everyone in the episode are genuine. It was a sad time for us Glee fans.

What do you think the biggest misconceptions fandom has about Brittana are?
The biggest one I think, is that Brittany doesn't love Santana as much as Santana loves her. Like what??? Come on guys.
Brittany is the girl that waited. She waited years for Santana to be brave enough to love her back. Not to come out (I mean just look at how she smooths the napkin down over their hands to make Santana feel comfortable in that 3x04 Breadstix scene), but to accept herself enough to love her back. Then Santana broke up with her and when she came running back, Brittany was patient again, and instead of choosing the easier option of getting back together and having Santana move back to Lima she pushed her to go to New York. She waited until the time was right because she didn't want to hold her back. Then when that time came she waited for Santana to catch up again as she dithered over all the things that didn't matter, until they were sat in a room filled with lilies and Brittany's emotional intelligence that has always managed to anchor Santana and "straighten her out when she's tangled up in knots".
Santana is very much about her words but Brittany is very much about gesture, and that's how you can see all the ways Brittany loves Santana. In everything she does for her. I mean she even says herself she loves her with everything so she would do anything for her.
She's also never chosen anyone over Santana, only ever herself when she finally needed to put boundaries in place. She chose time and patience. And look...it worked. Sometimes the biggest most selfless thing you can do for the person you love is to them go, and that's what Brittany did when she didn't immediately break up with Artie to start dating Santana. She didn't "choose" Artie. She was giving Santana the time and space she needed to figure herself out before committing to a relationship. She didn't "choose" Sam either. She wanted Santana to go chase her dream, not to be tied down in Lima, potentially resenting her for it for not graduating on time. I'm not saying she didn't love and care for Sam and Artie (but do I think she was in love with them?...no) but she never stopped loving Santana.
Another misconception that fandom has is that they're perfect and don't argue. Of course they'll argue, they're like any other couple, we just don't see it on screen because they literally barely got screen time. I also don't believe Santana would just let Brittany constantly push boundaries like some say. She's whipped, yes, but she also knows when to put her foot down. As seen in 6x08 when she is done with Brittany's shit and quite literally says... "now I'm putting my foot down" hahah.
