The thing is, it’s impossible to not have themes in your writing. The damn things pop up like mushrooms anywhere they detect the slightest hint of Story, even if you actively try to avoid them. And if you don’t thoughtfully choose which ones to cultivate and which ones to prune, that’s when the dry rot sets in and your whole house collapses.

Ok, so can we talk about Punz for a second? Because like when I rewatched that stream the other day, not only did I notice that is was Punz who avenged Dream by killing Tommy and returning all of his stuff, after Sapnap and Tommy had ambushed Dream and refused to return it [details] (making him truly the mvp, who really doesn’t get enough credit). But I also noticed some other fun things.
Specially this.
And this.
Tommy punches Dream -> immediately killed by Punz [clip].
Like okay maybe we could make the point that Dream pays him to kill Tommy and reclaim all of his stuff [clip], but pretty sure Dream isn’t paying him to be so protective.

Reader making the segments lunch and handing it to them in the morning for the first time. It's in a nice lunchbox, with compartments and two layers and all, a variety of different choices, and of course a sweet or two as dessert, not to mention the cute love note you left inside for him. I imagine the conversation would go something like this:
"Here you go, darling," you said as you placed the box in the segment's hand out of nowhere, which he looked at for a few moments in confusion.
"This is...?"
"Lunch, of course! For you!" He stared at you.
"...I appreciate the gesture," the segment began, "but you are aware that I do not need to eat? I do not feel hunger."
"Yes yes, I know, but that doesn't matter. You should still take a break every now and then and eat something yummy! You'll feel a lot better, trust me," you smiled at him before placing a kiss on his cheek. "Now, have a good day at work, and don't overdo it!" You kissed him yet again on the lips, leaving before he could say anything, as he peered down at the mysterious box of food in his hands.
The segment, who never cared for the idea of lunchtime previously, found himself checking the time every so often in hopes it would come soon. The segment, who never cared very much about food in general, found himself expectantly looking at you for another box the next day.

"Seven years ago we all went through the flames; and the happiness of some of us since then is, we think, well worth the pain we endured."
Although Dracula was published in 1897, some think that it takes place in 1893 because of the way the days and dates used line up. If that's the case, Jonathan Harker's epilogue, seven years later, would have been added around 1900. A new era bubbling with new change and new conventions. The story ends with Jonathan looking ahead to a new century filled with the unknown and being able to look on the past, despite its darkness, "without despair."
