What would you do if you had a time machine?

I often imagine myself in the future, a future where time travel is possible. And the first thing I do is I go back to that day. The day where you came to me, crying, and told me that you were miserable, that you wanted to stay with me but it was just too hard, and it had been too hard for a while now. And I see myself, 22 year old me, in the break room at his office listening to you on the phone, and he says, out of all the stupidest things a stupid man can say, that he understands. That he would not possibly keep you in a situation where you are miserable. That even though it breaks his heart in a way he is pretty sure no one's heart has ever been broken before, he will let you go.

And I snatch the phone away from that bastard before he can say any of that stuff, and I beat the ever living shit out of him. I beat him with a fucking bat till he is coughing blood, and I keep beating him up. Till he feels the pain that he has made me go through (which he still never will, by the way). He's lying on the ground, covered in blood, and I keep kicking him, even though he's barely conscious now, and doesn't even know what he did. And as I do this, I have tears in my eyes, because even while imagining this, I know that it won't bring me any peace. In my mind, I can just keep beating him up forever, and it still won't be enough. And I call you back and tell you that we will make it work, that we will figure a way out of this, that I will fly to you the very next weekend and we will talk this through, and we will be happy.

I go back to eight months before that day, when it started going downhill, and I put way more effort into us this time. I go back to everytime we fought in those final months, and I erase those fights from history. I go back to everytime I got irritated with you that year, and I never let any of that happen. I go back to everytime you got irritated, and I handle all those times differently. I go back to tell that guy to notice that something is off. To tell him to look beyond what you were telling me. I just keep going back. That's all I use the time machine for.

So in my mind, the MCU has been in 2023 the entirety of the pandemic. With some spilling over into 2024, as in the case of Wakanda Forever, but nothing past that. So all storylines of Phase 4, with the exception of the 2016 prequel that is the Black Widow film, are just overlapping in those 20 months from Avengers 4. Was made to realise only recently that Cassandra Lang is in fact no longer 15, but closer in age to her future best friend Kate Bishop. She still look 15 though so I should probably pump my brakes on this. (...I say as if I did not already go ahead to Google the age difference between Jonathan Majors and Kathryn Newton for Phases 5 and 6 long term⌛⏳🌀💫.)
