The U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer bombers, assigned to the 28ª Bomber Wing of Ellsworth Air Base, North Dakota, took off from their deployment site at Lulea-Kallax Air Base, Sweden, to train alongside Swedish Air Force JAS39 Gripen aircraft.

The mission, named Vanguard Adler, was conducted as part of the 24-2 Bomber Task Force and designed to integrate U.S. bombers with Swedish JAS39 Gripen fighters and terminal attack set controllers (JTACs) operating in the Arctic and Baltic regions.

The exercise included scenarios of surface attack, air interdiction and approximate air support, all aimed at building partnerships and increasing readiness.

"This timely opportunity for our crews to exercise our collective defense capabilities with our Swedish partners, who will soon be NATO allies, in the Arctic region is incredible," said Lieutenant-colonel Benjamin Jamison, director of operations of the 37º Bomber Squadron and leader of the BTF 24-2. "This demonstrates our firm commitment to our partners and Allies, demonstrates our expansive reach and sends a strong message of deterrence to potential opponents."

The ability to generate surges from locations like Lulea is a key focus area for the U.S. Air Forces in Europe - African Air Forces. Through Vanguard Adler, BTF 24-2 sought to exercise the ability to quickly integrate forces and equipment into allied and partner locations.

All training objectives have been achieved, according to the employees.

The US routinely demonstrates its commitment to the Allies and NATO partners through BTF missions. Through these missions, USAFE-AFAFRICA allows the dynamic use of forces in the European theater, providing strategic predictability and guarantee to the Allies and partners, while contributing to deterrence, introducing greater operational unpredictability for potential opponents.

Regular and routine deployments of U.S. strategic bombers also provide critical contact points to train and operate alongside our Allies and partners, while reinforcing a collective response to any global conflict.

BTF 24-2 marks the first multi-day deployment of U.S. Air Force B-1B bombers in Sweden.

𝑳𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏 ; to accept love.

Letting somebody see the ins and outs of your life, your most vulnerable moments and the best things that happened to you was scary. Jaycee Jamison had been burned before by simply allowing love into her life and now she was afraid to do that again. She feared that letting somebody in meant to let that same pain back in and she wasn’t sure she could go through that again. Not after everything that had happened between herself and her ex, Blake Daniels.

She had met him in the most unlikely of ways. He was on the streets busking when she stopped to listen to his music. Once his set was done, she brought one of his CDs, got to talking with him, left him her number and left. They started dating but then Blake lost his flat and moved in with Jaycee, putting all of the emotionally and financial strain on Jaycee. It was tough but Jaycee loved him so she put up with all of his crap. She paid for everything in the house and Blake worked on his music, busking every day at different locations and times to try and get recognised. Nothing worked and for years, he contributed nothing to the house.

It caused many arguments for the couple and things only got worse when Jaycee found out that she was pregnant. She went through the entire pregnancy alone, including attending scans and decorating the nursery. The only thing that Blake was there for was the birth of their daughter. Jaycee picked out their daughter’s name and Kelsea Briar Jamison was welcomed into their lives.

Blake believed that proposing would fix his past mistakes and Jaycee believed that he would change, so she said yes and paid for the wedding herself as Blake still refused to get himself a job all these years later. She spent their wedding day alone as Blake played the music for their big day, hoping somebody there knew someone who could get him on a real stage with a big crowd. Jaycee focused her energy into raising Kelsea and making sure that their little girl had at least one parent who cared about her. Blake was cold and distant with her and that scared Jaycee... She had enough and divorced Blake when Kelsea was 6 years old. 

The divorce lit a fire under Blake and he got himself a job at his father’s mechanic company. His father brought him a two bedroom flat and so Jaycee allowed Blake to have Kelsea every other weekend and Jaycee went on to adopt a teenager who needed her help. Harley and Kelsea were Jaycee’s whole world but she seemed to forget about herself along the way. Her love life had taken a backseat so that she could devout herself to her children and it was Arizona Robbins who told Jaycee to get herself back into the game when the new cardiac surgeon showed up at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital just over a year ago.

@dashingloyalty​ was new and seemed to be interested in Jaycee but after sleeping with him, she ghosted him through the fear of getting hurt. She didn’t want to make the same mistakes as she had made with Blake. She didn’t want her children getting hurt or let down. She didn’t want to let love in through the fear that she wasn’t good enough or that her kids would be a problem to whoever she dated. She was scared but Benjamin didn’t give up. They had been dating for a year now and things seemed to be going well, but Jaycee had never allowed Ben to meet the kids. She knew he wouldn’t hurt them, but she was still getting over the damage that Blake had caused and couldn’t bring herself to fully let Ben into her life. She was guarded still and careful about what she showed or told him. Regardless of her trust issues, things between them seemed to be going well -- at least to her knowledge.

This weekend, Kelsea was supposed to be staying at Blake’s. Jaycee had picked her adopted daughter, Harley, up from her school and dropped her off at a friend’s house for their big sleepover. She then drove over to Kelsea’s school, took her home and cooked her something to eat. She knew that Blake hardly ever had food in, so she wanted to make sure that Kelsea ate before leaving. She then grabbed Kelsea’s packed bag and headed to Blake’s house. She dropped Kelsea off at the main door to the apartment building as she always did before driving home. Kelsea had to get to the fourth floor of that apartment block but Blake usually met her by the elevator on the main floor. Jaycee had nothing to worry about... 

Once she parked her car on the drive, she let herself into her house, slipped her feet out of the heels she had been wearing all day and into her fluffy slippers. She placed her keys in the bowl by the door and grabbed the claw clip that sat on the shelf of the mirror that hung in her hallway. She put her hair up as she walked through to her kitchen and sat herself down at her kitchen island. She pulled her laptop towards her and started working on some emails, expecting to have the night to herself. She hadn’t planned to see anyone tonight so she turned on her ‘relax, breathe, repeat’ playlist on Spotify and began answering some emails.
