SIREN'S SONG
Chapter 7: Great Balls of Fire
Paring: Roosterx OC Captain Harper Ann "Siren" Mitchell
Warnings: Mentions of Ejection, injuries, cursing, drinking, and allusions smut 18+ only Minors DNI
A/N: This chapter is inspired by the song "Great Balls of Fire... but more specifically the Top Gun Maverick version. This has been my favorite chapter to write so far... please enjoy!
Four months had passed since the mission. The Navy was so appreciative of the success they gave the Dagger Squad some much needed time off. Rooster had settled in well to his new role at Top Gun. He and Harper had also settled in well to being a couple.
When they had returned he officially moved in with her even though Harper insisted he had been officially moved in with her months before. The couple had a well established routine. Work, friends, family, and amazing sex. They were happy. Sure they has small fights about stupid things and they were both stubborn as hell, but at the end of the day they were lovers and best friends. The perfect match.
It was a warm Friday afternoon Rooster was supposed to be meeting Harper at their favorite spot at the beach soon but he needed to make a pit stop first. He had told Harper he had left his phone charger in his office back on base and he needed to get it but in reality he was over at Maverick's.
"Alright Bradley let's see it. Maverick said rubbing his hands together. "Look at it Mav, isn't it beautiful... think she will like it?" Bradley side as he asked his pseudo-father proudly showing off the engagement ring he had in his hand. "Rooster it's beautiful. She is going to love it."
"Thanks Pete, it's just as special to me as she is. The center stone came from the necklace Dad gave mom when they got married. I chose that because I buried her with her wedding ring.... she wore it even after Dad died and I couldn't bear to take it from her." Rooster said tearing up. "The smaller diamonds came with the setting I think they really make the center stone pop. And I went with rose gold because Harper hates yellow gold and she thinks silver is too over done. So it's something one of a kind and unique just like her." Rooster continued placing the ring back into his pocket.
"So the plan is for Penny to fake some sort of emergency at the Hard Deck while we go to the beach and set up. Then I am going to go 'save' her. We are going to take a walk to our favorite spot while you, P, Ameila and the Daggers get the Hard Deck ready for the after party or my funeral... depending on what she says." Rooster explained to the old man.
"Bradley she is going to say yes. She loves you. Stop worrying and let's go!" Pete ushered the younger pilot out the door. He understood how nervous Rooster was. He had been the same way when he was going to propose to Penny. He had also seen the same nerves when Goose asked Carole to marry him.
"Penny Benjamin Mitchell" Harper stated with her hands on her hips looking at her mother. "How do you forget to install kegs? You own a fucking bar... you sell enough beer here every night to fill ten pools I swear! Harper huffed. "It's not that I forgot honey... its just these two are so big it's a two man job and Jimmy is off for the week and you were already here. Penny said struggling against the large container. Her daughter had no idea that entire story was a lie. She might be mad now but she would thank her later...
"Harper.... Penny.... anyone here?" Rooster called out through the empty bar. "In the back!" Both women shouted in unison.
"A little to the left and there.... woo... perfect. Thanks for your help honey." Penny said giving Harper a hug... "any time mom" Harper replied panting
"Well if you ladies are done here.... I believe we have a date Ms. Mitchell" Bradley said taking her had.
"We most certainly do Mr. Bradshaw" Harper replied threading her fingers with his. "Have fun you two" Penny yelled as the couple walking out the front door. Moments later Pete, Amelia, Jimmy, and the Dagger Squad entered through the back door and began to set up.
Harper and Rooster walk happily along the beach talking and laughing. Soon they had made it to their favorite spot where Roosters Bronco was parked. He quickly let the tailgate down and set out a blanket. Harper hopped up as Rooster pulled out his old guitar from beside her.
"Oh.. are you going to serenade me my love?" Harper asked
"Something like that." Bradley replied. He fiddled with this strings and began to slowly play the first cords of a song Harper new all too well
"You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain" he began at a much slower tempo than normal
"Too much love drives a man insane"
"You broke my will, but what a thrill" He began to sway back and forth. Harper smiled at him
"Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire"
"I laughed at love 'cause I thought it was funny"
"But you came along and you moved me, honey" Rooster shot a wink at her
"I changed my mind, this love is fine"
"Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire" he sang earnestly
"Kiss me, baby" Harper blew him a kiss
"Ooh, that feels good, baby"
"Hold me, baby"
"I wanna love you like a lover should"
"You're fine, you're so kind" he began to sing even slower as he walked closer to her.
"I'ma tell the world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine"
He drew out the last note and put his guitar down. Bradley grabbed both of Harper's hands.
"Baby." He began "I have loved you since before I even knew what love was. You have supported me through all of my ups and downs. I don't know how you put up with my dumbass... I swear you are an angel. You have been my biggest support and motivation. You are kind, smart, caring, stubborn, funny, considerate, and so full of love. I could not do this life without you. And I do want to let the whole world know that you are mine now and forever." Bradley dropped to one knee... "So, Harper Ann Mitchell.... Will You Mary Me?" Rooster pulled the ring out of his pocket and held it out while he waited for her answer.
"Oh my God Yes! Yes Bradley I will marry you!" Harper almost shouted with tears in her eyes. With shaky hands. Rooster placed the ring on her finger. Harper launched herself off the tailgate of the Bronco and tackled him to the sand peppering his face with kisses. "I love you so much Harper" Rooster told her cradling her cheek. "I love you so much to Bradley" She smiled back.
"Well... I guess we need to go show off your new ring to Penny and Mav. They should be at the Hard Deck." Rooster told her. Harper happily obliged her boyfriend... err fiancé and they began to walk back. On the way back Harper couldn't take her eyes off the ring. Bradley explained how the center diamond had once belong to his mom and the sentiment around the ring. If it was even possible Harper fell more in love with that man.
"Baby? Why is no one at the Hard Deck and the lights off?" Harper asked as the couple approached the bar and walked in. Before Rooster could answer "Surprise!" Pennt flipped the lights on as the Daggerr Squad, Maverick, Amelia, and Jimmy jumped from their hiding places. The bar was covered in streamers and balloons. Over the stage hung a "She said YES!" banner.
Everyone rushed forward to congratulate the couple. All of the girls fawned over Harper's engagement ring and sighed when she told them the story behind it and how the center diamond had belonged to Roosters mother.
The men of the Dagger Squad congratulated Rooster and gave him a pat on the back. "So as your best man I am obviously going to plan a kick ass bachelor party. I'm thinking Vegas, party bus, bottle service, strippers..." Hangman announced to Rooster and the gang. "Who said you were going to be my best man Bagman?" Rooster asked him.
"Dude I am you'd best friend... I saved your life... its literally my right to be your best man and throw the most epic bachelor party!" Jake said while he dramatically waved his arms. "As much as I am sure you would enjoy your idea for my bachelor party.... I am not down for Vegas or strippers... I was thinking a weekend golf trip to Tahoe." Rooster told him. Hangman sighed dramatically yet again "Ugh fine if you want to have a boring bachelor party fine but we are taking a party bus to the golf courses" Jake stated compromising.
As the night went on there was laughter, happy conversations and lots of hugs. Jake continued to try and persuade Rooster to change his mind about Vegas even going as far as to bet a game of pool on it. Meanwhile Harper asked Phoenix and Halo if they would be two of her bridesmaids. Amelia jumped up and down and hugged her so tight when Harper asked her to be her Maid of Honor.
Soon friends and family started making their way home. Harper and Rooster were the only two left. Penny told then to stay as long as they wanted to just to lock up when they left.
Rooster went and keyed up a song on the Juke Box and then pulled Harper into the middle of the empty bar. They danced together as Elvis sang "Can't Help Falling in Love With You."
Bradley placed a tender kiss to the top of Harper's head as she snuggled under his chin. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked up at him.
"Hey Rooster, you big stud" Harper called out using the line Aunt Carole told her she always used on Uncle Goose "That's me Honey" Rooster replied cracking a smile
Harper stood up on her tip toes to whisper in his ear. "Take me to bed or lose me forever"
"Show me the way home Honey!" Rooster called back pressing a gentle kiss to her lips.
He laced his fingers with hers and carefully lead her to his waiting Bronco. On the drive him Rooster looked over to see that his fiancée had fallen asleep. The excitement of the day finally catching up to her. He pulled in the driveway and unlocked the door.
He carefully opened the passenger side door of his car and picked up the sleeping woman. He carried her into the house and up the stairs. He made sure to take off her shoes before laying her down on the bed. Bradley had wanted get both of them changed into some sleep clothes, but as she went to pull away Harper had a death grip around his neck. He chuckled to himself admitting defeat and laying down beside her. Harper sighed and cuddled up next to Rooster as she wrapped an arm around him.
And there in that moment, for the first time in a long time, Bradley Bradshaw and Harper Mitchell were both truly happy.
Oh my God my heart almost melted and I may have shed a few tears writing this. This has definitely been my favorite chapter so far. I hope you all enjoyed it!

PERSONALITY
Libby is in a constant state of needing something to do. She tries to balance her personal life and career, and has a talent for spotting out a Taylor Swift song in public places. She is a quiet, intelligent and observant person with an incredible memory. She’s highly adaptable and good at blending in, probably because she’s grown into a wallflower. Libby likes to think of herself as a resilient, independent individual, someone who can live life on her own. She can be a social butterfly once she feels comfortable. Her mouth has this ability to work faster than her brain, so some of the words that come out of her mouth can be fascinating. Libby is the type that gets truly excited about the little things. She’s funny, generally quick to add a witty comment, and enjoys a good challenge. She’s fiercely protective of the people she calls her friends and she’ll have your back no matter what. She’s exceedingly hard on herself and is her own biggest critic but also has trouble admitting when she needs help. She can have a bit of a temper, though she’s great at keeping it in check. She’s a person with a lot to give but has some emotional issues to overcome. If she’s being honest, all she wants is to live a life that’s quiet and happy with the ones she loves the most.

BACKGROUND / BIO
TRIGGER WARNINGS: mentions of pregnancy, childhood cancer, death, miscarriage.
Meet Libby or, if you’re one of her mothers, Elizabeth Marie Stewart (and she usually doesn’t tell people what her full first name is). She was born and raised in Thomasville, Georgia, and had a modest, middle class upbringing. Her mother, Daisy Stewart, is a school teacher while her other mother, Robin Stewart, is a bakery owner. The Stewarts are your typical small town family, who have been the owners of the town’s quintessential bakery since Robin’s family first got there in the 1950s. She is the second oldest of the Stewart clan. When she was younger, Libby always had a vision of herself being something of a role model for her younger siblings, but well, that was probably not the best idea. As she got older, it became obvious that she wasn’t the kind of older sibling that the younger ones should be looking up to. Which is mostly just a really nice way of saying she was a complete handful. It was almost as if she had made it her life’s mission to run her parents crazy when she was growing up. They did everything they could to try to keep her in line, but the fact of the matter is that, while she always respected her parents (even though it didn’t always seem like she did), no one could ever make Libby do something she didn’t want to.
From the time she was a little girl, Libby has known who she was and what she wanted to be when she grew up. One day, she was going to be an interior designer, but not just any designer. She didn’t want to work for a firm or a company, she wanted to be her own boss. She wanted to be like those designers on HGTV with their own businesses. She set that goal for herself as a part of her ten year plan and set her eyes on SCAD so that she could make her dream a reality. When Libby gets her heart set on something, she’ll do anything to get it. That was the case with Lincoln Scott, the boy whose name was once scribbled on her notebooks with hearts drawn around it. She liked him a lot, like, a lot a lot. They had been best friends since they were toddlers and over time, she had grown feelings for him. Luckily for her, he felt the same way. He was her first serious boyfriend, and because she could recount her grandparents’ love story as if she were there 80 years ago, she had ridiculous expectations for love. She believed in love at first sight, and she believed in soulmates, and she believed that her very first boyfriend could be the one.
He ended up being the one that knocked her up during her junior year of high school, which was most definitely not a part of the ten year plan. She was seventeen and pregnant and scared, but family was important to the Stewarts and important to Libby. And though there had been options dancing through her mind, they were nothing more than fleeting thoughts because when her eyes saw the sonogram for the first time, she knew she wanted to be a mother. Nine months later, Freida Rose Scott was born into the world to two teenage lovers with plans of graduating and marrying after high school. With a baby, going to college wasn’t an option for Libby, and while she’ll never outwardly admit it, she felt that the decision was made for her and that she didn’t necessarily have a choice in the matter. And so it goes, Libby married her high school sweetheart straight out of high school (while keeping her last name), moved into a house with a white picket fence, got a permanent job at her family’s bakery and in turn pushed aside her dream of becoming an interior designer, and raised her baby. However, that all changed during her twenty first year of life. When she should’ve been going out for her first legal drink, her husband and family spent their months in hospital rooms and waiting rooms. Their baby girl had been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.
They spent that year trying to find treatments, trials, and medicines that would cure their daughter. Nothing seemed to work. During that year, they spent all of their time making sure their baby girl got to still live the childhood she deserved. A year or so after getting the diagnosis, Freida passed away in her sleep. The Stewart-Scott family was rocked to the core, none more so than Libby herself. Freida was literally Libby’s entire world, and there was no denying that. She took one look at that little girl and suddenly everything changed. Libby was willing to do whatever it took to give her daughter the very best life she could give her, and would’ve done anything she could to protect her. Her entire life changed after her daughter died and she was lost. Over the next few months after Freida’s death, the Stewart-Scott family had to find a new normal. With their daughter gone, they began to feel a strain on their marriage. That only continued to shift from a lax rubber band to a tightened rope around her hands when Lincoln told her that he wanted to have another child. They struggled a lot within their marriage during that time, but she felt they’d get through it. At the age of twenty three, she suffered a miscarriage and made the decision to leave Thomasville for good. The place held nothing but heartbreak for her.
Leaving her old life behind, she went off on her own with her savings and eventually found her way to Boston, Massachusetts. There, she enrolled at MASSArt where she earned a bachelor’s degree in fibers. With her background in fabrics and her passion for interior designing, she found herself employed, working for a company that staged open houses for homes that were on sale. It was only a year before the company called her about a job in Merrock, Maine. It really hadn’t been her intention to stay in the small town but alas, she did. She moved in with someone off a Craigslist ad, and got a job working at Polished Brass Market as an antique picker.
Though, it didn’t take long for her past to catch up with her because before she knew it, her estranged husband eventually tracked her down in Merrock. After having to tear down the guard she had built up so fiercely, Libby had to face her grief head on and managed to let go of all the hurt she was carrying. And to her surprise, she ended up reconciling with her estranged husband in the process. Feeling like the pieces of her life were finally falling into place and putting her back together, Libby finally decided to chase her dream of becoming an interior designer. Wanting to dip her toes back into the real estate world, she left her job as an antique picker and accepted an offer from Bardales Inc. to become a home stager, making their properties attractive to potential buyers through her skills as an interior stylist. As she gains connections and experience, Libby hopes to take the next step and open up her own business one day. Until then, she’s more than happy spending her days scouring flea markets and garage sales looking for hidden gems.
She’s been in town for nearly a decade now and being able to find a home in Merrock was something Libby Stewart never expected, but the town welcomed her with open arms and she’s now glad to call it her adopted hometown.

im a huge cats the musical and ds9 fan please tell me everything about the AU
hehehe thank u for enabling me I will do so ! (pls bear in mind that in building this around elecetera I have largely disregarded the canon relationships in ds9 simply because I think it is more fun that way and also I LOVE to talk so this is so god damn long)
this started with the thought that electra and etcetera doing the nojay consortium plot would be unbearably cute, so of course Etcetera is cast as Nog (excitable accidental mischief maker who grows into a brave little champ and joins starfleet!) and Electra is cast as Jake (still silly but much more levelheaded/quieter than her counterpart, a worrier, and grows into a writer! a little reference to my own hc of electra as a library cat).
"why would pollicles steal your homework?" "[head tilt] because they don't have ethics?" PRECIOUS
so then building out from there you get Bombalurina as Benjamin (which I think is REALLY cool also visually I think she suits that part and I think it's such a cool thought to cast her as captain and emissary over anyone else. I love her I'm gay). and then obviously you need Demeter as Kasidy (the obvious choice for dem would be kira but I think this is much more fun for her. hot and in charge cargo ship captain! (and of course this makes her Bomba's gf :3 and Jemima their as-yet-unborn baby who I'm not technically meant to know about cause I haven't finished ds9 yet but hey) aslo. just really super hot. I'm gay. got stuck thinking about int tour dem in kasidy's boiler suit lookin outfits and ceased functioning.). as I mentioned I also cast Munkustrap as Jennifer just cause u know. makes sense. and obvs Deuteronomy as Joseph Sisko! (honestly my favourite characterisation of deut always has that little flavour of grandpa sisko I love him)
then on Etcetera!Nog's side of this family tree we have Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer taking over hybridised roles of Quark and Rom! (neither of them are her parents they're her older siblings/cousins/idk but she's theirs to raise. I've kind of been mixing and matching what narrative roles each of them take so it's sort of a. they run the bar together, jerrie is the one to become an engineer, teazer is the one to date the Leeta, they take bits and pieces of each of the ferengis plots u kno). speaking of, Victoria is cast as Leeta (because victeazer 4eva but also beautiful but kind and deceptively intelligent is literally her. also that shot of cet and vic hugging from 98 but it's rom/leeta stepmom moment Yes). also I love Ishka and originally I cast Jenny as her because YES but now that role goes to Skimbleshanks just for the utter nonsense! (I know moogie's plot is mostly about stuff that can't be reflected to skimble but I'm again thinking more of the relationship to etcetera here and I think this gives the best dynamic! also teazer as the mommas boy and jerrie with the rough relationship Yeah)
this is getting ridiculously long so I'll try to be more brief with the rest! Tugger as Kira (bomba's right hand man!), Mistoffelees as Jadzia (bestie!), Cassandra as Julian (Electra and Cass's roadtrips to disaster!), Asparagus as Worf (look at me and tell me that humour/grumpiness isn't familiar), Alonzo as Odo (elecetera hijinks to cause him to sigh grumpily as Much as possible), Jennyanydots as Miles O'Brien (this one feels kind of out of left field but 1. I love her as cettie's mentor and 2. I would LOVE to see her in the kind of irritated distress obrien lives in. I adore her let me put her in the torture machine just a little), and of couuuuurse Jellylorum as Keiko! (mentor to electra! deeply sweet and caring but also strict and kind and oooooh!), which means Tumble and Pouncival fall into Molly and Kirayoshi's places (makes them even littler than elecetera as revenge for [thing productions do that irritates me that I won't get into here cause we're having fun]), Tantomile and Coricopat as Morn (but instead of silence to the viewers and annoying chatter offscreen it's eerie staring to the viewers and referenced ominious statements they make offscreen. this is deeply funny to me), then Macavity as Dukat obviously (boos and hisses), Grizabella as Lwaxana (beloved), finally Plato as Alexander (my favourite star trek character the ds9 writers Don't understand him like I understand him but this makes so much sense), and Bustopher as the klingon chef!!!!!
this became a very long post!!!! I hope you enjoyed it!!!! please think about electra teaching etcetera to read in secret.

01. Full name: Benjamin Andrew Fray/Fairchild-Morgenstern/Garroway.
02. Best friend: Simon Lewis; but he is also best friends with George Anderson.
03. Sexuality: Heterosexual.
04. Favourite colour: Green.
05. Relationship status: Single (as of the beginning of the story).
06. Ideal mate: Benji’s ideal partner is someone who can be open with him, someone who doesn’t shy away from talking about things – even if that’s something they work towards. They’re someone he can have a laugh with, but who knows how to be serious. He’d prefer someone a little shorter than him, but not much – though, he really doesn’t mind what they look like, as long as the personality and the spark are there, he’s happy.
07. Turn-ons: Confidence is a big turn on for him. Appearance wise though, he likes long hair in intricate updos; there’s something aesthetically pleasing to him about when long hair gets taken down.
08. Favourite food: Pizza – with pretty much any topping. He draws the line at olives on them though.
09. Crushes: He had a crush on a girl a few years older than him when he was about ten; and then there was the time he had a crush on Emma Watson. From near the beginning of the story though, he starts to harbour feelings for Aoife.
10. Favourite music: Benji loves acoustic music, usually pop songs that have been slowed down.
11. Biggest fear: That he’ll lose the people he loves, and be unable to do anything to stop it.
12. Biggest fantasy: Benji dreams of his future a lot; the idea of having his own little family, with his sister, mother and Luke being happy as well, is something that appeals to him. If he could do all that and be a famous musician? Yeah, that’d be his dream.
13. Bad habits: Benji picks at scabs all the time (an iratze is both a blessing and a curse for him in some ways). He also has a habit of chewing things, like guitar picks and pens, much to the irritation of those around him.
14. Biggest regret: That he didn’t go on an exchange trip to Germany because he was too scared of being away from his family.
15. Best kept secrets: Benji’s not actually great at keeping secrets, he’s a terrible liar, but also he gets way too excited about things not so share them. That being said, he’s really proud of himself for not telling Jocelyn about the painting him and Clary were working on for her one Mother’s Day; she seemed genuinely surprised when they gave it to her, and he’d written her a poem on it.
16. Last thought: Benji was thinking about the sweet looking guitar he saw in a shop, with the burnished wood and the whorls in it that looked incredible.
17. Worst romantic experience: Benji’s not really had any romantic experiences – Clary once tried to set him up on a date, but the girl had food poisoning and they never managed to reschedule.
18. Biggest insecurity: That he’s not good enough. Despite how many people tell him how good he is at things, that they love him no matter what, he’s always been worried he’s not good enough for people. He worries that he’s not actually that great at the guitar, at singing, and people are just humouring him.
19. Weapon of choice: Kindness. Benji isn’t much of a fighter; but as time goes on he soon learns that he’s pretty deadly with shuriken.
20. Role Model: Luke. Benji looks up to Luke because of everything that he’s done for them – and for Simon, too. The man didn’t have to step up but he did, and that’s important to Benji. When they learn about the Shadow World he realises that Luke didn’t like how it was hidden from them, which brings him up slightly in Benji’s estimations.

ABOUT.
Name: Benjamin Eric Scott Nicknames: Ben, Scotty, Benny Boy Age: Thirty-five Date of Birth: 24th August 1987 Occupation: Broadway Actor Romantic/Sexual Orientation: Biromantic/bisexual (male leaning) Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York, USA Current Location: Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York Time in New York: Forever Face-claim: Sam Claflin
Benjamin “Ben” Scott grew up in Brooklyn, New York, to a stay at home mom and a doctor father.
When he was a kid he wanted to be a spaceman, exactly like Buzz Lightyear. That was the dream.
His mom had other ideas since he’d spend his days putting on plays with the other neighbourhood kids and dancing and singing. So, not long after his 9th birthday, she started to push and finally got him a job on the first Broadway production of The Lion King. That was what he did for almost ten years —- he lived on the stage.
After graduation he went on to study drama at Juilliard School, getting into a kind of routine. School, theatre, school, theatre, and then he’d spend Sunday at the gym. He didn’t have much of a social life, just hung out in seedy bars with his theatre friends, getting into fights and very rarely waking up in his own bed, usually bloody and bruised whenever he did.
He dabbled in relationships here and there, fell for a guy in his final year of college, but things weren’t meant to be. Everything was badly timed. He’s probably still a little in love with him to this day, but he’s never been too good at admitting that out loud.
Finally, following graduation, he got his first movie role, nothing major, but hella exciting for him. Movie roles were pretty rare, though, so he paid for his tiny apartment in Hell’s Kitchen with constant stints on Broadway.
He ended up in a bad place. Fell into an abyss of drink and drugs, going out each night after the show pretty much just trying to pick fights. It was almost a game, trying to hide the bruises the next day.
At 26 the relationship he ended up in was beyond toxic, neither one of them any good for each other and he only landed himself in more trouble.
Things went too far one night on his way home following the show; some guy thinking it was funny to continuously rib him over his sexuality. Ben, seeing red, lost it completely and could have quite easily beat him to death.
Prison was his next port of call. He was there for a year, got out on good behaviour, although his stay behind bars did its job in destroying what little movie career he had left.
Since getting out six years ago he’s been working on his anger issues. He’s been to rehab, attended meetings, seen a therapist and he’s big into meditating. His Frenchie, Simba, helps him through.
For a while he considering moving away, thinking that perhaps a fresh start was what he needed, but who was he kidding? He’d always loved New York and could never leave.
Thankfully an opportunity with a good friend and co-star arose and together they opened a theatre production company. It gave him the perfect excuse to get back into theatre and he needed something to sink his teeth into.
Not long after he did film a pilot for a TV show, although sadly it was never picked up.
Rather suddenly found himself a father to Mira 5 months ago. That certainly wasn’t planned as she was the product of a random couple of nights, but he’s working his way through it and doing his best to be there.

Tumblr media
THIS ITEM IS IN STOCK AND READY TO SHIP FROM OUR WAREHOUSE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA. I bought this collection of The Nanny for my daughter for Christmas and she absolutely loves it Thanks. Detailing the comic misadventures of the sweet and sassy Fran Fine (Drescher), her sophisticated employer, Broadway producer Mr. Starring the one and only Fran Drescher in her signature role, The Nanny charmed television audiences throughout its six-season network run. That flashy girl from Flushing with the heart of an angel (and the voice of a slighty more nasal angel) is here at last in The Nanny: The Complete Series.
This set is Region 1 and will play in the USA and Canada.
This set is In Stock at our warehouse in Phoenix, Arizona.
"So it goes.INCLUDES EVERY EPISODE FROM THE ENTIRE SERIES FOR ONLY $77.99! Vonnegut passed away in 2007, and we have little doubt his response to that would be. Possibly the most interesting segment involves the various drafts of Vonnegut's most popular work ("Slaughterhouse Five" was his 6th novel), and the specific comparisons of the author to lead character Billy Pilgrim. Weide who seems to spend as much time on camera as anyone, leading us to wonder about his focus in what he terms a '40 year' project.
Tumblr media
Archival footage of Vonnegut and interviews with his daughters and biographers, give us a pretty complete looks at his life. He survived the Allied bombing by taking cover in. Not only does the Blu-ray set include Digital HD with Ultraviolet. The series enjoyed initial success due to its Friday night timeslot when it. The series first aired as a mid-season replacement on January 21, 1970, on ABC and was last telecast on December 27, 1971. During pre-production, the proposed title was Nanny Will Do. What's clear is that Vonnegut being captured by Germans during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge, and subsequently held at Dresden was a driving force not just in his writing, but in his approach to life. The Spartacus: The Complete Series box set youve been waiting for is finally happening, with a release date set for September. fantasy situation comedy created by AJ Carothers and Thomas L. Weide and co-director Don Argott address Vonnegut's shortcomings as a family man, by allowing his daughters to tell Daddy stories in their own words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we see during the film, his live talks became 'must-attend' events due to his brilliance and ability to speak directly (and with caustic wit) about a world that he didn't always maintain the greatest hope for. His big breakthrough came in 1969 when "Slaughterhouse Five" became a best-seller, and his other works include "Cat's Cradle" (1963) and "Breakfast of Champions" (1973). Born and raised in Indianapolis, he wrote novels, short stories, and plays, and his work was noted for his clever humor and detail. Vonnegut, of course, is one of the great American writers of the 20th Century. The strange thing here is that by the time it's over, we aren't sure if we've watched a documentary on the life of Kurt Vonnegut or one about Weide's friendship with and respect of the man. Co-director and long-time Vonnegut friend Robert B Weide even admits the renowned author told him, "anything that is any good of mine is on a printed page". Sometimes the work really does speak for itself.

The 2020 Tony Awards Preview | Broadway Direct
Like the recent Olympics, the 2020 Tony Awards arrive after a lengthy delay necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. And amid enduring uncertainty, they are all the more eagerly anticipated by fans of Broadway theater and the industry serving them.
This year’s ceremony, set for September 26 at the Winter Garden Theatre, will be different on several counts. The number of productions recognized has been limited by the March 2020 shutdown, which prevented a bunch of high-profile shows from opening, and rendered others — including Ivo von Hove’s staging of West Side Story, and Girl From the North Country, the acclaimed musical weaving Bob Dylan songs into a book by Conor McPherson — ineligible, as many Tony voters had not been able to see them.
On the other hand, a new arrangement that will make the entire event available on Paramount Plus, beginning at 7 p.m. ET — with longtime Tonys home CBS broadcasting from 9 to 11 p.m. ET — will enable viewers at home to see awards given out in categories such as design, orchestration, and choreography. “We haven’t had all of our creatives and the awards recognizing them on the special since before my time,” notes Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League, which presents the Tonys with the American Theatre Wing.
“The whole point of the show is to set an optimistic and realistic tone,” adds Heather Hitchens, the Wing’s president and CEO. “The theme of this show is that Broadway’s back — theater is safe if protocols are followed — and we have exciting new work for people to see.”
Both St. Martin and Hitchens point to the diversity of shows represented both in nominations for the 2019–2020 season as well as those premiering in the new season, which launched in August with the arrival of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu’s Pass Over. Slave Play, another work by a Black playwright that transferred after earning praise Off-Broadway, is up for 12 Tonys, making it the most nominated play to date. Author Jeremy O. Harris was tapped for his provocative look at the roles race, gender, and sexuality play in contemporary relationships; director Robert O’Hara, leading actress Joaquina Kalukango, featured actors Ato Blankson-Wood and James Cusati-Moyer, and featured actresses Chalia La Tour and Annie McNamara are among the other nominees.
Tina – The Tina Turner Musical is also a contender in 12 categories, with celebrated Black artists including Adrienne Warren, who won raves for her performance as the titular rock and R&B icon, and this year’s Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Katori Hall among the nominees. The other productions up for Best Musical, Jagged Little Pill and Moulin Rouge! The Musical respectively collected 15 and 14 nominations; both combine books by noted writers — Jagged Little Pill’s Diablo Cody and Moulin Rouge’s John Logan — with established music — Alanis Morissette’s for Jagged Little Pill, and various pop songs tracing several decades for Moulin Rouge!.
Consequently, none of the five candidates for best original score is a musical production. They include Slave Play and fellow Best Play nominees The Inheritance and The Sound Inside and new stagings of A Christmas Carol and Tennessee Williams’s The Rose Tattoo. (The theatrical concert David Byrne’s American Utopia is being honored with a Special Tony Award, as Springsteen on Broadway was in 2018.)
Only three revivals made the cut for Best Revival of a Play: a production of A Soldier’s Play showcasing Blair Underwood, a nominee for leading actor in a play, and David Alan Grier, up for featured actor; a Betrayal, featuring Tom Hiddleston, a contender for leading actor; and Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, starring six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, nominated for leading actress.
Other stage and screen stars who are candidates at this year’s ceremony include Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge, both for leading actor in Best Play nominee Sea Wall/A Life, a pair of one-man pieces respectively written by Simon Stephens and Nick Payne, each told from the perspective of a young husband and father. In the category for leading actress in a play, Mary-Louise Parker is acknowledged for Adam Rapp’s The Sound Inside, an intimate mystery involving a cancer-stricken college professor and her alienated, prodigious student, also up for Best Play; and Laura Linney is nominated for My Name Is Lucy Barton, an adaptation of Alice Munro’s novel tracing a complex mother-daughter relationship.
Matthew López’s The Inheritance — up for 11 awards, and focused on gay men living in a New York haunted by a pandemic of the recent past, AIDS — yielded nominations for John Benjamin Hickey, for featured actor, and Lois Smith, for featured actress. (Cast members Andrew Burnap and Paul Hilton are nominees for leading and featured actor in turn, with Linda Vista’s Ian Barford also up for leading actor.) And a fifth Best Play contender, Grand Horizons — a comedy that dares to look at sex and marriage in the golden years — and the Broadway debut of Bess Wohl earned a nod for another duly cherished veteran, Jane Alexander, also for featured actress.
Musical theater favorites recognized include Danny Burstein, who earned a seventh Tony nomination for his featured performance in Moulin Rouge; Moulin Rouge’s Karen Olivo and Jagged Little Pill’s Elizabeth Stanley, completing the leading actress category; and Moulin Rouge’s Aaron Tveit, who, as a result of the relative dearth of musical productions in this abbreviated season, was the only performer nominated in the leading actor field. (He needs the approval of 60 percent of Tony voters to claim the prize.)
In vying for Best Direction of a Play, Slave Play’s O’Hara will face stiffer competition from lauded British directors Stephen Daldry (Inheritance) and Jamie Lloyd (Betrayal) and equally accomplished Americans David Cromer (Sound Inside) and Kenny Leon (Soldier’s Play). The directors tapped for their work on musicals are no less distinguished: British film and stage vet Phyllida Lloyd (TINA), Pill’s Diane Paulus, and Moulin Rouge’s Alex Timbers, who, between the two of them, have helmed some of the most admired musical productions of the past decade both on and Off-Broadway.
And thanks to this year’s multiplatform format, fans of the three musicals will get to see awards handed out to their choreographers and orchestrators — one of each, anyway. The nominees include Moulin Rouge’s Sonya Tayeh, whose collaborators have ranged from the Martha Graham Dance Company to Miley Cyrus, and Jagged Little Pill’s Tom Kitt, whose many credits as a composer include Next to Normal, for which he won both Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize.
Variety writer and podcast host Gordon Cox adds that the 2020 Tony nominations would likely have presented “an entirely different race” had the rush of productions originally scheduled to open in late March and April of last year had been able to do so. Still, he believes there are “a significant group of people who think the Tonys can be a celebration, not just of a season that got overshadowed by the pandemic, but of a return to performances — to being able to sit in theatres, knock on wood. There are people looking for an opportunity to celebrate theater in general.”

Interview with Richard Benjamin on Making Comedy Look Easy in MY FAVORITE YEAR (’82) By Donald Leibenson
Tumblr media
To hear Richard Benjamin tell it, MY FAVORITE YEAR was a charmed production. For his first film as a director, he had been looking for a comedy (“I’m just kind of bent that way,” he jokes) and the stars aligned to bring him a script that, he says, was everything he knew. He had Mel Brooks as the film’s guardian angel. He had a bona-fide movie star that his wife, Paula Prentiss, recommended after another actor regretfully declined the film’s plum role. And he heeded Carl Reiner, who gave him succinct advice about making a comedy: “Get funny people.”
Which he did. The film is character actor heaven, with Joseph Bologna, Anne de Salvo, Selma Diamond, Adolph Green, Basil Hoffman, Lainie Kazan and Bill Macy.
MY FAVORITE YEAR is set in the mid-1950s when television was live and comedy was king. Mark Linn-Baker stars as Benjy Stone, a young comedy writer on a variety show reminiscent of Your Show of Shows, where he ardently pursues the show’s not-amused production assistant (Jessica Harper). During one life-changing week, he is assigned to chaperone the show’s guest star, his idol, former swashbuckling screen hero, Alan Swann (Peter O’Toole in an Oscar-nominated performance), who has a penchant for drink, womanizing and otherwise behaving badly.
Benjamin spoke with TCM about casting O’Toole, trying to pin down Mel Brooks and why you should never end a comedy in a graveyard.
To quote Alan Swann’s great line, dying is easy, comedy is hard. With MY FAVORITE YEAR, you make it look so easy. How did the project come to you?
Paula and I were in New York. My agent, David Gersh, sent the script by Norman [Steinberg] and Dennis [Palumbo, credited as co-writer due to the Screen Writers Guild arbitration]. I remember reading it in the hotel room and as I finished, I said, ‘This is everything I know.’ I was in high school when Your Show of Shows was on. I would get on the phone with my friend Shelley Berger, who I am still close to, and we would do all these routines they had done on the show on Saturday night. I grew up loving Errol Flynn and those swashbuckling movies. I had also worked at 30 Rockefeller Plaza [the film’s setting] as an NBC page and guide, and I knew every inch of that place. [The script] was right up my alley, as they say.
Tumblr media
Brooksfilms produced the film, and Mel Brooks was a writer on Your Show of Shows. Did he serve as the film’s guardian angel or offer any input?
Guardian angel’s good. He kept saying he would give Norman and I two full days to sit down and go over the script to see if we could make it even funnier. The truth of the matter is that the script didn’t need much of anything, but he promised that. Trying to get Mel to stop moving is a feat. We went to his house, and he invited us in and then said he was going out. He said he had to walk the dog. Then he comes back, and he said he had to go, that there was a crisis at Fox. I said, ‘No there’s not,’ and he said, ‘Well, there could be.’ So, what he ended up giving us was two hours, but it was a great two hours. And the next thing you know, he was gone.
But Norman and I came up with one of the best jokes in the movie while we were standing in his driveway watching him drive away. It’s the one where Swann falls off the roof and plummets past the two elitist guys. And one says, ‘I think Alan Swann’s beneath us,’ and the other guy says, ‘Of course he’s beneath us, he’s an actor.’
I cannot imagine anyone but Peter O’Toole as Alan Swann. Was he the first choice?
Albert Finney had been offered the role, but he had not committed. He was up in Sausalito making SHOOT THE MOON [’82]. They told me I had to go up there and convince him to do the film; otherwise they couldn’t make the movie. The list of people M-G-M would go with was very short, because who are you going to believe with a sword in their hands? So, I’m on this mission, because if he says yes, I’m going to get to make a movie. We arranged to have lunch together. He’s completely charming. I get ready to ask the question – which could change my life, by the way: ‘Will you do it?’ He said, ‘Well…,’ and I could tell it was going to be a no. He thought the script was really good, but he had done two or three movies in a row and he said he wanted to get back to the theater. Then he said to me, ‘Why don’t you get O’Toole?’ He said, ‘We do this all the time. I turn something down, he does it, he turns something down, I do it.’ When I got back home, Paula who had made WHAT’S NEW PUSSYCAT? [’65] with Peter, said, ‘Get Peter. He is perfect for this.’ Finney said it, Paula said it. And I asked [co-producer] Michael Gruskoff if M-G-M would make the film with O’Toole, and Michael said yes.
What was the meeting with Peter like?
(Laughs) That meeting! That meeting was quite something. First of all, we couldn’t find him. We could tell we had the right person because the behavior was just like the character. He had a farm in Ireland with no phone. You had to call this pub to get a message to him. I called the pub and they said Peter wasn’t there. His agent didn’t know where he was. I called his manager and said, ‘We’re trying to find your client.’ He said, ‘He’s at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. He’s been here for a week.’
So, I’m actually talking to Peter O’Toole, and he said he had heard about the project and to send him a script and we would get together the next day. I go over and there he is in a beautiful suite wearing a smoking jacket; he is the character. He said, ‘Here’s the thing…’ and I thought, ‘Here we go again.’ He said he liked it very much, but he hadn’t read the last ten pages and to please indulge him and he would call tomorrow. The next day, on the dot, he called and he said to turn to the last page of the script.
Tumblr media
Now, in the original script, there’s a scene which I shot that would have played after what’s in the movie. It took place in a Hollywood cemetery, and Benjy is walking past the gravestones. He says in voiceover that Alan Swann made him promise he would do something on his birthday every year. Alan has passed away, and Benjy comes to his grave, kneels down and pours a bottle of Courvoisier over the tombstone. That’s what’s on the last page. Peter asked me to read the date that was on the tombstone. It was Aug. 2. He said, ‘Aug. 2 is my birthday; did you know that?’ I asked Norman if he knew that, and Norman said no, he had made it up. And Peter says, ‘Therefore, I must do the film.’
What happened to that scene?
I was terribly reluctant to take that out because Peter did the movie because of it. But people at M-G-M said I couldn’t end a comedy in a cemetery. We had two audience screenings, one with that ending and one without it. In the screening with it, the audience enjoyed the picture, but the scene put a pall over things. Then we had the screening without it and the audience was very enthusiastic and very up as they came out.
How did you find Mark Linn-Baker?
Our casting director Ellen Chenoweth said the first person to get was Mark Linn-Baker. Mark came in and read and was terrific. I said, ‘This is my first movie, I can’t cast the first person who walks in here.’ I saw maybe 25 to 35 more—some really good people—but she was right, so after all of that, I said to get him.
Peter and Mark had great chemistry.
They seemed to hit it off right away, but later, back in L.A. after we shot the long scene on the roof, which played like a mini-farce, Peter came up to me and said, ‘I like the lad, you cast him well.’
Tumblr media
Was Peter game for the physical stunts?
I couldn’t stop him from doing them! The bathroom scene required him to fall headfirst into the wall. I came to him before we shot and I said, ‘The camera is so close, I can’t pad this wall.’ He said, ‘I was brought up in music hall. I can do this all day. Don’t concern yourself.’
Director Howard Hawks once said that a good movie was three or four good scenes and no bad scenes. I lose count watching MY FAVORITE YEAR of how many great scenes there are in it. Between those driven by comic banter, the TV sketches, the physical comedy scenes, the quieter romantic scenes and even the dramatic confrontations, did you have a favorite type to direct?
I can’t say there was a favorite. It’s all of a piece. I will tell you that one of the scenes I like is in the Stork Club and getting to do something that reminded me of all these kinds of wonderful comic movies I loved growing up. I do remember that one of the first things we shot was the scene in Central Park where Alan Swann mounts the horse. It just seemed to lack energy. And I was thinking, ‘I have to go tell Peter O’Toole that he has to pick up the pace and it has to be lighter.’ I went up to him and said, ‘It’s good, but…’ and before I could finish, he said, ‘You want it faster and funnier.’ I said, ‘You’ve got it,’ and he said, ‘And you shall have it.’ And I thought, ‘This directing thing is not so hard.’ (laughs)
Were there directors you worked with as an actor who particularly inspired you when you became a director? For example, you worked with one of the best, Mike Nichols.
Mike, yes. He directed me in the national company of Barefoot in the Park and [the film] CATCH-22 [’70]. Mike’s thing was he’d come up to you very quietly and say, ‘Just like in real life.’ That was his main thing. It meant that there should be no ‘acting’ here; your character responds to situations as they would in life. It’s like what [critic] Walter Kerr once said about Neil Simon’s jokes: They have the truth in them. This is what funny people know: You can’t try to get a laugh, because you won’t get it.
At one point, Alan Swann says that doing the TV show was the most fun and the hardest work since the world was young. Was that what making MY FAVORITE YEAR was like for you?
It was the most fun, there’s no question of that. It was a magical experience because of the screenplay and everyone involved. Everyone’s game came up because of Peter. You don’t need many takes with him, that’s for sure. But how all of this came about and got to the point where I would be offered this, and what has to happen in your life to come to that moment – you can’t make it up. And when that moment comes, you’re hopefully ready. I was really fortunate.

WKM Role Swap: The Séance
Prologue, Previous Chapter
-
The roles have changed, but the séance still has to go on.
Mind you... Is this the first time we've ever witnessed Celine and William have a private conversation?
-
"What do you think you’re playing at?” Celine's presence blazed before him like an inferno the moment the door was closed. “Do you think this will help you gain my favour after everything that happened?” William lifted his hat and brushed out his hair with a hollow laugh.
“You’re still the same as always, Celine. Not everything revolves around you, did you know that? Sure, I missed you as much as everyone else, but this isn’t about you. It’s not about whatever we shared long ago. There’s a likely case of homeo sapio zombifus or some 'ghost' that we need to sort out. I’m the only one with a reputable sharpshooting reputation, and also the ability to not believe whatever horseshit you want to feed everyone with -”
“William!”
“- which is why I’m the only one who can help you here. How can any of those ghosts possess someone who doesn’t believe in this? If you want to work on a plan, you need a man with years of military experience on your side.” William pulled the empty chair out, only to stop as he spotted Celine’s bag laying there. She was empty-handed when she arrived, yet here it was. It was passed to her so he could sit down. He slumped into the chair, arms loosely crossed and legs spread as Celine began setting the table. There was no ignoring the anger simmering under the surface as she lit the white candles.
“You haven’t changed at all. Mark was killed, and here you are acting like you two had another petty spat.”
Huh, funny that. You ultimately took my side in that ‘petty spat’, didn’t you?” The empty bag was flung at William, who was quick to catch it and drop it on the ground beside his hat. “But if you really must know, I came to this party to try and make amends with Mark and try and find some sort of peace with that madman. Just because I’m used to being surrounded by death does not make me immature and dismissive to what happened. So why don’t we act like adults and get to the bottom of this?” Celine’s temper rose, only to slowly fade with a deep breath.
“You’re right. There are more important matters to deal with right now.” Calmer now, she cleansed and shuffled the tarot deck. “I just can't shake the feeling that Mark's death is the start of something much bigger. I've never been fully comfortable in this house - and I understand why, now that I'm here with my eyes fully open to the world beyond. There's an energy that made me so eager to escape the house if I was stuck here for too long...” She trailed off as the pair locked eyes. Their dates mostly consisted of trips outside the manor. How much of it was genuine romantic feelings, and how much was actually the actions of something hidden inside the walls influencing the minds of two who lived and worked there? Celine’s eyes widened in realisation. Was their entire relationship something staged by whatever lurked in the house to advance its sick plot? William pulled himself up, sitting properly on the chair as he finally gave Celine his full attention.
“Something dark, far beyond our control, is going on right under our noses. It has acted out and used us as pawns before. If we don’t reach Mark, it will happen again. Please, Colonel… Don’t joke around.”
“I won’t.”
Celine drew three cards and set them on the table. William didn’t understand the significance of them, and Celine’s explanation of their symbolism shot over his head, but he could understand that they confirmed ‘the path was clear’ (whatever that meant). William followed Celine’s breathing instructions as his thoughts slipped away. His vision grew blurry and then… Everything went black.
-
William stood in one of the empty bedrooms, his back against the closed door as he gathered his bearings after promising to hunt the 'old bag of bones'. He could hear footsteps and a voice pass by, “- we were celebrating something, but he never specified what". Frowning, William opened the door -
Mark was standing on the stairs, addressing the group in a hollow, dramatic performance. "It's not all about the poker. It's not about me… it's about you." William glanced to the right. Mark had pointed to the stranger William met outside. The rest of Mark's speech faded out as the location morphed to the cellar.
"A fully loaded gun? It wouldn't be you if you weren't armed to the teeth, would it?" Mark had the pistol, casually dumping the bullets onto the counter. William tried to snatch his gun back, but hesitated as he felt the bullets rattle in his pocket - the bullets he had taken out of his gun before the party ever began...
He looked up. There was a closed door in front of him. "This place is cursed!” William hesitated. He recognised the voice. But when he turned his head -
He was looking out an upstairs window. An older man with fair hair and brown overalls stood in the garden. He was surrounded by Chef, the Detective, and the Attorney as he leaned on the handle of his shovel. “However, there is one reason. One incident. One manifestation - that will get me into that madhouse… And you had better pray to God that reason never comes to pass.”
---
William pulled himself back to his body with a heavy gasp as he lurched forward.
"Colonel? What happened? What did you see?" Celine called out. William didn't answer at first. He heaved as he gathered his bearings. Both hands tightly squeezed his knees to make sure he wasn't still dreaming. It was only when he lifted his head that Celine could see how shaken he was.
"This place is cursed."
"I know. That's why I'm trying to-"
"No, you don't understand. This place is cursed. If we stay here, any of us, the curse will get us too. It's like you said - we're on the verge of being used as pawns." For someone who was such a firm sceptic minutes earlier, William was very set on this change of heart. "Tidy your things. We need to go. All of us."
"I'm not going anywhere. That's why I came back! There's an unseen force that needs to be dealt with."
"Whatever it is, it got Mark. Do you want to be next? Pack up. We can continue this outside."
"We are NOT going anywhere! We are NOT done! Tell me what you saw!"
"I saw people talking about how no one knows what's going on around here. George has the answers, but we need to go out to him."
"... I told you not to play around."
"I'm not. That's exactly what I saw."
"How does that give any indication of the truth? You need to go back and take this seriously! This is a matter of life and death!"
"That's what I'm TRYING to do! Why don't you BELIEVE me?!"
“What in the shit are you two yelling about?!” Abe charged in, taking in the scene before him. The Attorney trailed just behind him with worry on their face. “What is -”
“Get out! We aren’t done - Colonel!” William took advantage of the distraction to snatch his hat and put it back on. “Where do you think you’re going?!”
“Get her to pack up. We all need to get outside. Someone find Damien. I need to talk to George." William shouldered past the Attorney and stormed off.
“George? Who the hell is George?” Abe noticed the change in demeanour in both Benjamin and the Chef and quickly cornered them. “What do you two know?”
“Well…” Benjamin looked aside as he scratched his cheek. “George is the manor’s groundskeeper. But he only works weekdays. I don’t know where the Colonel would be going since he wouldn’t be here...”
“It looks like your friend here may disagree with that notion!”
“Me?” The Chef pointed to himself with feigned innocence.
“Yeah, you.”
“I don’t know shit. I plead the fifth, man!” Chef folded his arms, intending that to be the end of that. Instead, Benjamin turned and sharply poked Chef’s arm.
“Chef, if you know something, for God’s sake spit it out!”
“Okay, alright! You’re twisting my arm.” Chef took a half-step back to give himself room away from the others. “Alright… George has been living on the grounds for years-”
“WHAT?!” Benjamin’s reaction perfectly encapsulated what everyone else was thinking.
“And you just now thought to share that information with us? How the hell did the Colonel know that if no one else did?” Abe lifted a hand in frustration at this revelation.
“Private lived in the manor when he used to work here. The two were friends, and the only one that fuckin’ hermit would talk to while working in the gardens.”
“Oh great! Wonderful! Now we might have a case of an accomplice of a murderer being right here!” Abe’s outcry was drowned out by a clap of thunder.
“For the last time, stop saying that word!” Celine snapped, storming out of the séance room.
“Look, George… He’s just a guy who tends to the grounds -”
“I don’t have time for fucking excuses! The Colonel has just run out there to find this man, and we’d best find him before anything else -"
"Can you all stop bickering and leave?" Celine interrupted sharply.
"You're not coming?"
"I'm not finished. I need more answers." Abe pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a heavy sigh.
"I can't keep an eye on all of you if you all insist on being so immature… Partner," the Attorney looked surprised as Abe called them over, "I need you to stay here and be my eyes.
“Excuse me? I don’t need to be kept under surveillance, least of all under your order!” Celine’s eyes narrowed as she took in the numbers around them. “Shouldn't they be with Damien, if you're so stressed about everyone splitting up?”
“I just checked in on him, madam. He's asleep in his room with his leg propped up." While Celine was relieved her brother was resting, it also eliminated her scapegoat. She turned to the Attorney.
"Fine. You can stay. But I need to do my work first." The Attorney was doubtful, but Celine's mind was set. Why were they staying if the Colonel ordered everyone to go outside?
“C’mon. We’re wasting time.” Abe gestured for Chef to lead the way out. Celine returned to the room with the Attorney in tow. They glanced over their shoulder and caught the gaze of Abe. “We’ll be back in a few minutes, Partner. We're going to get to the bottom of this mess.”
All the Attorney could do was give a small smile as they closed the door. What else could they do? Their hands were tied.

It's been almost four years since it was announced that Amazon would be making a Lord of the Rings TV series and that it would be one of the priciest shows ever, with a reported budget of $465 million. Though plot details are been kept under lock, key, and guarded behind the magic Doors of Durin, actor Benjamin Walker gave us enough of a tease to pledge our sword, our bow, and our ax to the next adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium.
Walker spoke with Collider's own Steve Weintraub ahead of the release of The Ice Road and while he could not divulge many secrets about the show or fear the wrath of the Nazgûl, he did tease why the show's budget is necessary to do justice to the story: "There is a lot of talk about the money, but I kind of feel like that's what you need to do it right. It's like if you found someone you're in love with you and want to buy them a ring, you gotta do the best you can to show that you're committed to it, and it's not unlike that. This is not a legendarium that you want to skimp on."
When asked how he got involved in the show and whether he auditioned, Walker revealed the unlikely scenario that made him decide to take on the job:
"It was a long audition process, and then I didn't hear from them for a few months. I mean the whole world was struggling to figure out what we were going to do next at that point. And then one of the showrunners, J.D. [Payne] called me and he pitched the part and pitched the commitment, which is large. And I could hear on the phone that there was a PA system and a lot of noise in the background, and I still wasn't sure. And I said, "J.D. where are you?" And he said "I'm in the hospital." And I said, "Are you okay?" and he goes, "No. My wife's having a baby."
For Walker, Payne taking the time to offer him a job while his wife was in labor was just the push he needed to take the role, so to speak. "He's got the level of commitment you're going to need to get this show to be where it should be. It would be a huge mistake to not take part."
With a project so secretive, can you really blame us for trying to get some hints of what the story is about? Walker wouldn't really budge, but he did offer a compelling reason why you shouldn't want spoilers for the Lord of the Rings show:
"I really can't say a lot, and here's the thing. It's usually annoying when they tell you not to talk about it. On this one I kind of agree with them. Because there's so much attention and because so much happens, it's important that we do protect it. So I really can't say a lot, other than you will be glad you knew so little when you see it."
There’s still no premiere date for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series, but production on the first season has resumed after a long pause due to the pandemic and the show has already been renewed for a second season. When asked if it feels weird to sign on to do a project that could go on for so long, Walker was enthusiastic about the prospect:
"Yes. That is weird. but again, with Tolkien, I was a huge fan as a kid, and still am as an adult. And it was kind of one of those where if you say no you might regret it for the rest of your life. It comes out and you go, 'I could have been doing that?'"
As production hasn't wrapped yet, Walker also told Collider that he still doesn't know how much longer he'll be in New Zealand filming the first season, saying, "It is a bit nebulous at this point. We've been here a long time and they'll let us go when they're done with us."
We still know very little about Amazon's Lord of the Rings series, but with each new detail, anticipations continue to rise for the show that will give fans their first glimpse of the legendary island kingdom of Númenor and perhaps the origin of the dark lord Sauron. Look for our full interview with Walker soon.

ELIZABETH TAYLOR
February 27, 1932
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was born on February 27, 1932, in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London. She received dual British-American citizenship at birth, as her parents were United States citizens. The family lived in London during Taylor's childhood. In early 1939, the Taylors returned to the United States due to fear of impending war in Europe.
Tumblr media
In California, Taylor's mother (a former stage actress) was frequently told that her daughter should audition for films. She made her screen debut in There’s One Born Every Minute (1942). She was ten years old. Two years later she played the leading role in National Velvet.  This launched a meteoric film career that won her two Oscars (1961 and 1967).
Lucille Ball first met Elizabeth Taylor in an arranged ‘set visit’ during the shooting of 1953′s The Long, Long Trailer.  After that, they appeared twice on the same television shows, but did not share screen time.
“’A Star Is Born’ World Premiere” (1954) ~ a live television broadcast of the red carpet interviews before film’s world premiere.
“Sunday Showcase: A Tribute to Eleanor Roosevelt on Her Diamond Jubilee” (1959)
Tumblr media
Although she started appearing on television in the early 1950s, her scripted TV debut came in 1970 when Lucille Ball invited her to appear (along with her priceless engagement ring and her actor husband, Richard Burton) on a very special episode of “Here’s Lucy” titled “Lucy Meets the Burtons” (HL S3;E1).
Tumblr media
For this show, a special Guest Star credit was created. Liz got top billing!    Although this episode kicked off the third season, it was filmed much later and moved up as the season premiere airing on September 14, 1970.
Tumblr media
It ultimately became CBS’s highest rated show on the air for the 1971-72 television season.  It was also the best remembered episode of the entire series.
Tumblr media
This show’s plot was built around the real-life publicity achieved when Richard Burton bought his wife Elizabeth Taylor a 68 carat Cartier diamond ring worth over a million dollars. Property Master Ken Westcott created two replica rings for the medium and long shots which were crafted from chandelier crystals. Although he wanted to keep one after the shoot, Ball took one and Taylor took the other.
Tumblr media
A thirty minute documentary film “Lucy Meets the Burtons: A Comedic Gem” was included on DVD release of “Here’s Lucy” season 3. It includes interviews with Lucie Arnaz, Carole Cook, and behind the scenes footage.
Although this was their first and last time acting together, Taylor and Ball appeared on several television specials together, although they usually did not share screen time.
“Dinah!” (1977) ~ Dinah Shore interviews the First Ladies of Entertainment. Taylor is interviewed via remote telephone connection.
“Happy Birthday, Bob” (1978) ~ 75th birthday salute to Bob Hope at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Taylor talks about the previous evening’s reception featuring President Jimmy Carter and reads a message from Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. Taylor talks about Hope’s contributions to the USO.
“General Electric's All-Star Anniversary” (1978)
“Women I Love: Beautiful But Funny” (1982) ~ Bob Hope takes a look back at the beautiful and funny women he has worked with over the years.
“Bob Hope's Unrehearsed Antics of the Stars” (1984)
“Bob Hope's High-Flying Birthday” (1987)
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Taylor’s personal life was no less dramatic than her on screen roles. She was married eight times to seven men, marrying Richard Burton twice.
Larry Fortensky (1991-1996)
John Warner (1976-1982)
Richard Burton (1975-1976)
Richard Burton (1964-1974) 1 child
Eddie Fisher (1959-1964)
Mike Todd (1957-1958, his death) 1 child
Michael Wilding (1952-1957) 2 children
Conrad Hilton (1950-1951)
Taylor’s later years were spent doing philanthropic work, concentrating on AIDS and LGBTQ rights. Following her conversion to Judaism, Taylor became an active supporter of Jewish and Zionist causes.
In 2000, Taylor was designated a dame, the female equivalent of knight, on the queen's coveted New Year's list of titles and awards.
"Well, I've always been a 'broad.' Now it's a great honor to be a dame!"
Dame Elizabeth Taylor died on March 23, 2011 of congestive heart failure at age 79.
Tumblr media
TAYLOR MADE!
Although she may not have appeared, Elizabeth Taylor’s name was mentioned on Lucille Ball’s sitcoms many times.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy is Matchmaker” (ILL S2;E27 ~ May 25, 1953) Elizabeth Taylor’s name is not mentioned, but her face is quickly seen on camera on the cover of a magazine in a newsstand!
Tumblr media
Although her name is never stated, Elizabeth Taylor was clearly one of the influences when Lucy donned “The Black Wig” (ILL S3;E26 ~ April 19, 1954). Taylor sported short dark hair throughout much of the 1950s, including in her latest film at the time, The Girl Who Had Everything. Instead, Lucy gives Italian actresses like Gina Lollobridgida and Anna Magnani the credit.
Tumblr media
In “Ricky’s Movie Offer” (ILL S4;E6 – November 8, 1954) Lucy and Ethel accidentally knock out talent scout Ben Benjamin. Lucy revives him and tries to act casual, as if in mid-conversation. “Do you mean to tell me that Elizabeth Taylor looks just as pretty off screen as she does on?”
Tumblr media
In “Hollywood Anniversary” (ILL S4;E24 ~ April 4, 1955) the list of celebrity guests supposedly coming to Lucy’s anniversary party includes Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Wilding, her second husband.
Tumblr media
Incredibly (or perhaps legally), Liz Taylor’s name IS NOT explicitly mentioned in “Lucy Plays Cleopatra” (TLS S2;E1 ~ September 30, 1963) although the premise was clearly influenced by the smash hit film that came out that same year starring Taylor as Cleo. She was the third to play the Egyptian queen on film, after Theda Bara (1917) and Claudette Colbert (1934).
Tumblr media
In “Lucy Goes to a Hollywood Premiere” (TLS S4;E20 ~ February 7, 1966) one of Lucy’s rare movie magazines has a (fictional) article titled “Marriage is Not for Me” (supposedly) written by Elizabeth Taylor when she was 12 years old! By that time, Taylor’s love life was fodder for Hollywood gossip mongers and tabloids.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy Dates Dean Martin” (TLS S4;E21 ~ February 14, 1966)  Eddie Feldman (Dean Martin) says that while Lucy is attractive, she is no Liz Taylor. Or Gina Lollobrigida. Or Brigitte Bardot.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and the Starmaker” (TLS S6;E4 ~ October 2, 1967), after singing for Lucy, Tommy (Frankie Avalon) says he never thought he had more than an average voice. Lucy replies “if that is an average voice Elizabeth Taylor is an average housewife.”
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and Robert Goulet” (TLS S6;E8 ~ October 30, 1967) Lucy Carmichael says she once entered an Elizabeth Taylor look-alike contest and never even heard from them!
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and the Lost Star” (TLS S6;E22 ~ February 26, 1968) starring Joan Crawford, Lucy says that “Mr. Mooney wouldn’t lend a dime to Richard Burton even if he left Elizabeth Taylor as collateral.”
Tumblr media
In “A Date For Lucy” (HL S1;E19 ~ February 10, 1969) Lucy and Mary Jane fantasize about dream dates for an upcoming soiree. They mention Richard Burton, but add that Elizabeth Taylor wouldn’t approve.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy the Stunt Man” (TLS S4;E5 ~ October 18, 1965), Mr. Mooney jokingly says that he’s testing for the male lead in Liz Taylor’s next picture!
Tumblr media
In “Lcuy Goes on Her Last Blind Date” (HL S5;E16 ~ January 8, 1973), when Vanda is trying on the engagement ring Ben gave Lucy, she says “Liz Taylor, eat your heart out.”
Tumblr media
In “Milton Berle is the Life of the Party” (HL S6;E19 ~ February 11, 1974) Elizabeth Taylor is just one of the more than 15 celebrity names mentioned!

–   CHARACTER STUDY.
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟏.   :    THE OUTSIDE.
NAME  :    benjamin florian de bourbon EYE   COLOUR  :      hazel HAIR   STYLE   /   COLOUR  :      brown and since he’s typically tending to official business at some point in the day, kept straight and neat only with the help of a hair straightener. if left alone, it’s wavier and curls at the very ends HEIGHT  :    5′11″ CLOTHING   STYLE  :      again, it’s not what he’d necessarily like to be wearing, but he’s often in a suit to start. button downs and khakis are also fairly typical, or like ... slacks. sweaters are also common, he tends to stray away from patterns so everything is pretty consistently a solid color. he wears ... a lot of blue and yellow, per auradon colors. behind closed doors, in the privacy of his room and once he’s settled on not doing more work for the day (which, granted, does not often happen before two in the morning) he likes a good pair of sweats and an old t shirt BEST   PHYSICAL   FEATURE  :      smile !!
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟐.   :    THE  INSIDE.
FEARS  :      failing as a king !!  letting everyone down  !! post the third descendants movie , he has a thing about small spaces and also a thing about boats / yachts / general waterbound vessels  !!  being like his dad !! GUILTY   PLEASURE  :      sweet coffees !!  he prefers them but they take longer than getting a black coffee and moving on, so that’s what he usually does.  he also likes certain reality tv shows that he’s not super proud of watching. BIGGEST   PET   PEEVE  :      i’m trying to think of what could be considered a pet peeve versus bigger things he has issues with  ?? he’s pretty hard to peeve. AMBITIONS   FOR   THE   FUTURE  :     in a large, overarching sense he wants to make auradon a better place for all of it’s people.  in smaller goals, though he’s made a lot of headway in it he’s always working on getting the isle to a really nice state so the villains left can live there well !! right now he’s also working on fine tuning the process for villains to visit auradon and the kids that came over being able to visit the isle in turn. a last big focus that’s less isle related is he’s trying to rework the magic ban into ... not a ban !!  he wants auradon to be a place where magical people can practice magic to their heart’s content and magic can be used to help people and help auradon while making sure it remains as minimally dangerous as possible. lastly, and the only one that was actually canon mentioned and isn’t specific to my ben though it kind of ties into the overarching goal, he puts a lot of focus on the requests and rights of “sidekicks” and people outside his royal circle that got very little focus and help during his dad’s reign.
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟑.   :   THOUGHTS.
FIRST   THOUGHTS   WAKING   UP  :   ben is also very routine oriented in a way  !! he wakes up at 5 or 5:30 every day and though what he has to do changes day by day, typically his first thought is going over what his day will consist of. he looks at his google calendar pretty much before he looks at anything else. WHAT   THEY   THINK   ABOUT   MOST  :   he thinks about everything he has to do  !! everything he wants to do !! he thinks about his parents more than he’d like to, and thinks about the people closest to him pretty equally as he does what he has to do royal wise. also his cat. WHAT   THEY   THINK   ABOUT   BEFORE   BED  :   what he got done that day  !!  what his plans are for the next day !! again, also his cat, if mac has not found his way back to the room. WHAT   THEY   THINK   THEIR   BEST   QUALITY   IS  :      i think ben has an admirable ... confidence in himself, that is mostly lacking when it comes to his role as a king, but fine as a person.  there’s a few qualities about himself he likes, being helpful is probably at the top.
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟒.   :    WHAT’S BETTER  ?
SINGLE   OR   GROUP   DATES  :   both  ??  either.  he doesn’t have a lot of free time and he’ll take what he can get. TO   BE   LOVED   OR   RESPECTED  :  respected.  i think it would have been love when he was younger, but as he gets a bit older he needs respect more i think.  love is very important to him, always, but not everyone needs to love him. BEAUTY   OR   BRAINS  :      another both  ??  either DOGS   OR   CATS   :  cats !!
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟓.   :    DO THEY…
LIE  :      very rarely.  he’s actually funnily good at it, he just doesn’t like to. BELIEVE   IN   THEMSELVES  :      yes  !!  i want what he has !! BELIEVE   IN   LOVE  :      yes  !! deeply and wholly  !! WANT   SOMEONE  :      i have always felt this is a very vague phrasing but i’m going with yes because i’ve stated many times that though he doesn’t need a relationship ben is a big people person and he likes being with someone.
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟔.   :    HAVE THEY EVER…
BEEN   ON   STAGE  :      yes  !!  him and lonnie did the auradon prep talent show every year  !! and also ... many other times in a non performing sense. DONE   DRUGS  :      no.   CHANGED   WHO   THEY   WERE   TO   FIT   IN  :      no.  i think notably people have often wished he would omg.
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟕.   :    FAVOURITES.
FAVOURITE   COLOURS  :      yellow  !! FAVOURITE   ANIMAL  :   giraffe  !! he thinks they are graceful and gentle FAVOURITE   BOOK  :     he doesn’t have much time to read for fun, but he’s partial to jane austen. FAVOURITE   GAME  :      again, he doesn’t have time to play but he used to love guitar hero.
𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑  𝟎𝟎𝟖.   :    FINISH THE SENTENCE.
I LOVE  :     you. I FEEL  :      determined. I HIDE  :    trouble. I MISS  :      being a kid. I WISH  :     i could do more.

Struggles at Starboard
@psychopathicqueenly, this is for you!
Even though the crew doesn’t need to, Dex has always watched the auditions. There’s something exciting about seeing new possibilities and old faces.
That, and for the first ever auditions in ninth grade, Sophie decided she was going to be a star and dragged him along for moral support. She’s been auditioning ever since, since the first one was a success. Those days feel like just yesterday.
Sophie grabbed onto Dex’s arm nervously, shaking slightly. “Do you think I got it?”
“Yeah, I think so,” he answered, smiling. She ran to the list of names, scanned them impatiently, and then turned around abruptly almost crashing into another student.
“I did it!” she screeched, and ran into Dex, enveloping him in a giant bear hug. “I did it, I did it, I did it!”
It was a small part, but the fact that she got in was big in itself. And from there she auditioned for pretty much every musical and play that presented themselves. Dex somehow got dragged into being a member of the crew, and immediately loved it. It turned out he quite enjoyed building things.
Four years later, not much has changed, except for the size of Sophie’s roles and the increasing amount of paint I got everywhere painting sets. Well, a few other things too.
“C’mon, Soph, you’re going to do perfectly. You always do,” Biana says, kissing Sophie’s knuckles. They’ve been dating ever since Biana got a big case of stage fright the night before the last performance of West Side Story (she was Maria, of course, and, oddly enough, Fitz ended up being Bernardo).
Sophie blushes, grinning. “Yeah, yeah, but this one is special! We’re seniors now, so it’s all or nothing. And if I got the lead roll,” she trails off, looking wistful.
“Psht, you’ll get it,” Dex responds, patting her shoulder. Sophie rolls her eyes in response.
“Biana Vacker,” the theater teacher, Mr. Bronte calls, and says and the girl stands up, looking a little nervous. Sophie gives her a reassuring look, and most of the nervousness fades away.
“You'll be great, Bi,” she whispers, and with that, Biana runs up to the stage to perform her lines. The spring play is one that Tam Song (who happens to be a writer, who knew) wrote about the harrowing adventures of a crew of pirates and how they make it through one of the worst storms in centuries. It’s titled, “Struggles at Starboard.”
Biana’s audition goes in a flash, and soon she’s running back, looking excited. Sophie gets up and hugs her.
“You did great, sweetie,” she whispers. Biana’s beam grows.
“Fitz Vacker,” Mr. Bronte calls. Dex looks around for him, and watches as Fitz climbs up onto the stage.
Sophie elbows him. “Hey, lover boy.”
“Shut up,” he hisses, and Biana cackles quietly.
Three weeks later, the cast lists are out. Sophie is practically vibrating with anticipation when she and Dex get to school.
Fitz and Biana are already at the cast list when they arrive. Sophie sprints up, wrapping her arms around Biana’s neck, giggling.
“So?” she asks, slightly out of breath. Biana turns around and gives Sophie a big hug.
“You got the part!”
Dex plugs his ears just as Sophie screeches. Fitz gives him a knowing look, and Dex smiles, blushing slightly. Biana looks at him and winks.
Sophie did, in fact, get the part. Maya Green is the captain of the ship, and also the female lead. I learn that Biana is playing the ship’s cook, Dahlia Rogers, and Fitz is playing the trusty sidekick, Benjamin West.
The next two months are filled with setting out prop designs, memorizing lines, building and painting sets, trying on costumes, nervous actors, and dress rehearsals. And then the first performance arrives, just like that.
Back stage, Fitz is hiding.
“What are you doing here? Show’s on in five minutes,” Dex whispers, after peering in through the door.
“I can’t do it,” Fitz answers. He’s shaking slightly.
“You’ve been working on this for months, you’ve got it down front to back!” Dex says, crouching down in front of Fitz.
“No, I can’t. I’ve forgotten everything.”
“I’m sure you haven’t.” Dex puts a hand on Fitz’s.
Fitz looks down. There are tears in his eyes. “I’m so nervous, Dex. I don’t know why, I’m usually not. I’ve done this for years, why now? It doesn’t make any sense.”
“Of course it makes sense. This is your last first show. Of course you’re nervous. Heck, I’m nervous! But I know you can do it. You know why? You’re amazing, and you’ve done it so many times. This is no different. You’re just a pirate this time, is all. Benjamin West, childhood best friend and right hand man to Maya Green, captain of the Tidal Wave.” Dex waves his hands around for effect, and Fitz chuckles.
“How’d I come to deserve such a good friend?”
Dex looks away. “Well, I could say the same about you.” He looks back, and Fitz is much closer. Was he imagining that?
“Dex, I, thank you,” Fitz whispers, sliding off of his chair and down next to Dex.
“Fitz?” Dex whispers, barely audible. He was so close now.
“Yeah?”
“You’re, uh, you’re pretty close,” he mumbles nervously, probably red as the bandana tied around Fitz’s head.
He hums and leans in closer, somehow. “Is that a problem?”
“Um,” he stutters, and Fitz smiles, closing the gap.
“Copied Biana’s tactic, huh?” Dex giggles, grinning.
“Shut up, you liked it.”
“I did,” he answered, kissing Fitz (he could do that now!). “Now, go kick that storm’s ass. Not too hard though, it would be a shame to ruin my perfect waves. And the wind machine? Would be a shame to ruin it.”
“Okay,” Fitz laughs, pulling Dex up, keeping hold of his hand when they’d both stood up. “There’s a play to be done!”

Barry Allen was running like lightning. Cisco decided to test Barry's speed by making him run as fast as he can.
The leaves on the trees swayed as Barry passed, leaving everything in disarray along the way. Barry didn't care if he was going too fast, until a crack opened in front of him and Barry couldn't stop.
The sprinter was thrown on the wet grass floor. He got up quickly and looked around, wondering if it was for the past or the future. Everything was normal.
Barry noticed that there were some buildings in places that used to be houses and assumed he was in the future. Barry knew he couldn't risk changing the future, but he was curious.
Allen was surprised to see the name "Allen" engraved on the mailbox of a large house. The house was white and had three floors. He approached, seeing that on the porch of the house there was a swing and a doghouse with the name "Grant" engraved on it.
Barry's questioned whether he actually read the right name in the mailbox. He didn't have much time to think before a big fat dog ran towards him, dropping the Flash on the floor. The dog caught him off guard.
The animal began to lick Allen's face, causing the brunett to laugh. Barry carefully moved the dog away, standing up.
— Sit down! — He said to the dog and to Barry's surprise, the animal obeyed and sat on the grass. The dog wagged its tail and looked very cheerful.
Flash heard a giggle from the door. He looked up and gave a surprised exclamation when he saw that Y/N was standing in front of the door, arms crossed.
— I thought you would only come back tomorrow. Cisco called saying you had an accident in Star City. — Y/N said, walking over to Barry.
The man tried to hunt for words to reply to his friend, but he was petrified when he got a peck from his childhood friend.
The woman ran a hand through Barry's brown hair and looked at him tenderly. Flash noticed that she had a beautiful ring on her fingers. She got married.
Y / N returned to kissing Barry, leaving him in a state of panic. The brunett never thought of kissing his friend, since he was in love with Iris.
Let's go. Benjamin and Anastasia are alone long enough to set the house on fire. — Y/N said, pulling the speedster's hand to force him into the house.
— Benjamin and Anastasia? — He asked, frowning. Who were these people?
— Are you going to say you forgot your children's names? — Y/N asked in a playful tone. Barry opened his mouth in shock.
Flash barely had time to say anything. Two small, fluffy bodies crashed into Allen. They were children.
Benjamin and Anastasia were children. Children of Barry and Y/N.
Flash opened its mouth but was unable to say a word. He looked at the children who had the Y/N's hair color and Barry's green eyes.
The boy looked a lot like Barry and he had a very sweet smile. The girl looked like a cute princess.
— Daddy! — The girl said, reaching for Barry to pick her up. Allen wondered if he should pick the girl up, but after Anastasia pouted him softly, Barry grabbed the girl and gave him a big hug.
Barry had children. He formed a family.
It was not with Iris as he imagined, but Y/N seemed to love him with such intensity that it was clear that there was a lot of love.
— Daddy. Ben, mom and I made chocolate cake. — Anastasia said. Her voice was soft and sweet. Barry almost cried when the girl laid her head on his shoulder.
— Mom let me make the cake filling in the mixer. — Benjamin, who seemed to be 2 years older than Anastasia said, smiling proudly.
— It must be delicious. — Barry said, smiling at the boy. The boy hugged Allen's leg.
The two children dragged Barry into the kitchen and made the speedster eat lots of pieces of cake and a jug of juice that Benjamin made. It was sour but Barry took every drop to make the boy happy.
The house was large and warm. Barry couldn't say whether it was hot because of the heater or if it was for the family who lived there. The kitchen at the house had a large slate taped to the counter where it indicated what was needed to be bought at the market and who was going to wash the dishes that day.
Barry loved everything. It seemed strange at first, but now it was an incredible future. For the first time in his life, Barry felt that everything was going to work out in the end.
He thought the children were normal, that they were not speedsters. But the moment Y/N dropped a glass, Benjamin ran like a lightning bolt and didn't let the object hit the floor.
— Are you a speedster? — Barry asked, his face filled with surprise.
— Of course my love. — Y/N said, emphasizing "my love". In the present, she always called Barry "Allen" or some stupid nickname. Barry liked to be called "my love". — Our babies are like you. Although Anastasia hate to run
— I prefer to walk. — The girl said. It was the cutest sight Barry had ever seen. The little girl had a teddy bear on her lap and used a toy spoon to give a "imagine" soup to the teddy.
— You look weird, Dad. — Benjamin said. The boy was focused on a portable video game and barely looked at the people at the table.
— Really, Barry. Are you alright? — Y/N asked the husband. She noticed that the speedster was stunned and looked strange. — Children, can you keep the cake in the fridge and then go to play in your rooms?
— Yes mom. — The babies said in at the same time. Benjamin used his super speed to put the dish in the fridge and went to the bedroom. Anastasia preferred to walk like an normal human.
Y/N took Barry into the living room. The fireplace was lit for the winter and some toys were mirrored down the hall. The dog Barry assumed was family was lying on the couch with his belly up.
— What happened, Barry? — She asked as soon as Barry took a seat in the living room. She noticed that her husband never seemed to have stepped on the house and looked at everything as a curious visitor.
— Nothing. It's okay, honey. — Allen tried to sound convincing.
— Barry, I wanted to tell you something. — Y/N sat on Barry's lap, leaving him perplexed. Barry stood like a statue when the woman placed a long kiss on his lips. — Do you like having two children?
— Clear. Ben and Ana are amazing children. — Barry said, trying to look like the father they know.
— So I think you will love even more having three children! — Y/N said, with eyes full of water. She took a box out of her pocket and Barry recognized it as the box for a pregnancy test. — I found out two days ago, but I was going to wait for you to come back from Star City.
— You are pregnant? — Barry asked.
— Yes. Caitlin thinks I'm five weeks old. It's still the size of a bean bean but I already love it so much. — Y/N said, rubbing his belly.
Y/N was surprised to get a hug from her husband. Barry was shaking and looked surprised, something strange since he already has two children.
Allen had tears in his eyes and Y/N hugged him back, laying his head on his shoulder.
— Thank you, Y/N. — Barry thanked. — Thank you for being my family and for giving me three amazing children. You're perfect.
— You gave them to me, Barry. You played an important role when it came to making them. — She said, giggling. Flash was thinking about how strange it would be to have sex with his best friend. Barry had known Y/N since elementary school and had never thought of her in a romantic way.
Now, Barry envied Barry of the future, who had perfect children and a beautiful woman who loved him. The Flash hoped that this was his future.
— How did we even start dating? — The brunet asked, trying not to sound thick and make the woman angry.
— You were almost killed by a villain and I realized I loved you. But Iris also realized that she loved you. It took a long time for you to decide that you loved me and ask me to date. — She explained, laughing. — You are always fast but you are so reading in some things.
— Funny. — Barry said, squeezing Y/N's waist. Barry's cell phone rang and the woman got up from his lap, letting Flash pick up the phone and answer it.
— Dude, where are you at? You were running and suddenly you were gone. — He heard Cisco say. Flash's friend was nervous.
— I'm on my way, Cisco. — Barry said, hanging up afterwards without letting Cisco answer. — Y/N, I have to go. Cisco is in need of my help.
— Sure honey. — Y/N said, giving her husband another kiss. — Come back early for dinner. Today Ben's notes arrived and he wants you to see them at dinner time.
— Okay. — Barry looked intently at the woman and the house before going to the door. This was a perfect future. — See you later, Y/N.
— Save the world, Flash. — Y/N said, while stroking his own belly. Barry took one last look at Y/N before running to go back to the past.
Tears streamed down Barry's face as he ran. Barry always wanted to have a family and in the future he did, with a pet dog and warm hugs.
As soon as Barry came back to the present, he went straight to Star Labs. He knew that at that time you were helping Caitlin to take care of the imprisoned metahumans.
— Hey man, where were you? — Cisco asked as soon as Barry stopped in the middle of the Star labs.
— I fell in the middle of the race. — Flash lied, knowing he couldn't tell anyone about the future. — Where's Y/N?
— She is giving lunch to the imprisoned metahumans. She always does that.
Barry did not answer his friend. He ran straight in the direction of Y/N.
She had a tray in her hand and was walking towards a prisoner's cell.
— Hi, Y/N. — The Flash greeted the girl. She just looked at him and smiled, backe walking. — I was thinking. We have been friends for so long and we never go out to dinner just for the two of us.
— Why should you go out with Iris, your great unrequited love. — Y/N replied, making Barry make a face.
— Do you want to go out with me Friday for dinner? — Barry invited his friend. She smiled, stopping walking and looking at the brunet.
— Since you insist so much, I agree to go out with you, Allen. — Y/N said, running a hand through Barry's hair. He smiled, thinking it wouldn't be so bad to be married to you in the future.

Being with ben was one of the best things to ever happen. Yes, they did have their ups and downs but they always came to each other in the end. They first met when they were kids when y/n became the new girl in school when they were 14. She didn’t know what to do or where any of her classes were. New country, new school all because of her parent’s job getting a transfer.
When her parents dropped her off at the school before leaving, she saw someone her age look at her as he joked with his friends about anything. He could tell she looked scared just about the way he clutched her bag and her schedule in her hands and knew that she was now considered the new girl in school
“Okay, go to the shop near our house when school’s done, we’ll be there. If anything happens, call.” her mom told her
All she could do was nod before walking in front of the building and taking a deep breath giving herself a few words of encouragement before accidently walking into the boy who was staring at her earlier.
That was nearly over 15 years ago for them and they were still going strong, but it wasn’t before they started dating when they became more comfortable with each other. At 16, after tests and summer holidays happened was when it all started. Everyone teased them thinking it wasn’t going to last long because they didn’t know whether or not her family was going to be transferred back or not but they always seemed to make it work through school and all. When they finished high school and went to university, people began to question their relationship then as well. Going to different schools in different parts of the city, always being busy studying day after day, but they managed to do it all over again. She stuck by him  when he went and decided to be an actor.
At first, they did have a fight about it after finding out that he would have to be kissing another woman and she understood it was just acting but there was a part of her that felt like something was going to happen.
L is for the way you look at me
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked him as she sat down on the couch of his small apartment after fighting
“Because you’re still worried that i’m going to leave you for someone else when really, i’m not.” he said looking at her with love written all in his eyes
“Yes, i’m going to be kissing all those women, but i wish i wasn’t and i wish i was kissing you instead. Look, we have been together since we were sixteen and there isn’t any other person i would want to look the way i look at you all the time. You will always be my favorite girl and my only girl.” he told her holding her hands
“This was so stupid i don’t know why i even mentioned it i should just be supporting you and-”
“Babe. I still love you. Nothing will ever make me leave you for someone else. My eyes only have eyes for you. Just because we don’t get to wake up next to each other all the time, I love looking at you and only you. You always talk about everything with passion and it always fills me with this kind of joy. I’ve seen the way you look at me and I know you feel the same way. You’ve stuck by me with everything. You’ve been to all my games, you were always with me whenever i got injured and you have faith in me with wanting an acting career. So will you do the honors of marrying me.” he asked taking the ring out of his pocket
All she could do was look at him and nod as she put her hands to cover her mouth to hold back her sobs. Ben smiled as he took the ring out and put it on the finger before he picked her up and kissed her
O is for the only one I see
That was just three years ago, at age 21, being engaged that young while both of their careers were just starting to take off . Many people thought they were making a mistake but they didn’t think so. They took their time getting married and wanted to wait until they were both financially stable so they could both pay off their wedding. Ben had been playing Peter Beale on Eastenders and always filming while y/n was working as a nurse which made their timing a little on the edge with their schedules, but they didn’t mind at all. Ben was now finally standing at the altar waiting for her to start walking down the aisle and they could be together forever. He was talking to his brother, his best man, before they looked over and saw the doors open and heard the organ start playing. There she was. In a white gown she had been waiting to wear for over a year and he couldn’t believe his eyes. When she reached the end and stood in front of him, he felt like she was the only person in the room with him. They’ve had their ups and downs and they were finally in their happy places with someone they only had eyes for. When they said their vows, they didn’t take their eyes off of each other, other to wipe away any tears that fell. No one else was with them, it felt like it was only the two of them.
V is for very, very extraordinary
Hanging out with each other was something that they both loved. When they met, it was in their first class which was english and he noticed there was something different with her. Like she wasn’t, as cheesy as it sounds, like the other girls in his class. She was sent to go sit next to them and he started to notice all the small things she would do when they were in lecture. From the way she would write her name to the way she would answer the questions asked like she had a degree in the subject.
The first time they truly hung out was when they had a project to work on and he invited her to his house. Her parents were proud she had managed to make some new friends but she was still hesitant about being alone with someone she hasn’t really gotten to know.
When the weekend came around, he invited her in and they went up to his room after introducing her to his parents. The entire time she was talking about the project, he noticed how she wasn’t as quiet as she was in class and continued to talk about how they should do things.
“Ben? Did you hear anything I said?” she asked him quietly after noticing he wasn’t paying attention
“Yeah, yeah i did. Sorry. Um, how are you liking england? I mean moving to another country can probably be hard.” he said trying to make conversation
“I mean it is a little bit, especially since you guys do so many things differently than the states and I feel like i’m the weirdo for sticking to old habits.” she told him
“Well i think that makes you extraordinary then. It’s time we had some sort of change here” he laughed causing her to blush
“Maybe”
E is even more than anyone that you adore can
Ben had invited y/n to the set of bohemian rhapsody so she could see him doing his latest role and see him try to play the drums as he lied his way to get the job. She became friends with everyone and felt like they were a second family to her. As they were getting ready for a scene, lucy had walked up to her and they began talking. She tried her best to listen, but all her mind could go to was ben.
“You really do love him, don’t you?” she asked her
“Not just love. I adore him, admire, smitten with.” y/n laughed at the last part
“You know whenever we aren’t filming and he isn’t talking to you, he always talks about you. He really adores you as well. It always feels like you’re the only girl on his mind and all that he can talk about.”
y/n couldn’t help but turn red at the thought of her husband always talking about her to his co stars.
Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you
“Do you ever think about what life would be like if I hadn’t moved her? Like would you ever meet later while I was vacationing or something? Would you still fall in love with me?” she asked him one night as they watched tv. All he could was look at her and scrunch his face in confusion. He had never thought about it like that before but now he did
“I feel like if I didn’t ever meet you, i feel like i wouldn’t be where i am today.” he started
“Love is this weird thing with different meanings and if we did meet later on, i would still love you. You’re the prettiest person i have ever met. You make my life complete and push me to do my best. I wouldn’t have married you if I didn't. That came out wrong but I will always love you no matter what. Please don’t ever break it into pieces.” he told her as their eyes both started to pool up with tears
“I love you so much Benjamin Jones. I will never break your heart. And if I ever did, please just break my heart like I broke yours.” she told him before she leaned over and kissed him
“There’s one more thing I need to tell you.” she whispered as they broke away
“What is that?”
“I’m pregnant.”
This caused Ben to smile even bigger and kiss her once again as they spent the rest of the night in each other's arms talking about their baby, laughing as they reminisced their first times together before falling asleep.
