So I changed the ending (the final sentence). So I’m re-uploading. If the image won't’ load or my writing is too small/messy, I’ve typed up the story below as well as explaining how I came to write it. 

Precipice There they stood. Alone, on the precipice, in silence. Neither able to face the other. Why would they want to face reality if they could forever remain in this beautiful, yet somewhat awkward, moment? No matter which path they took - either together or apart - life certainly would never be the same again. The taller of the two resolved to sit, legs dangling off the precipice. The shorter of the two remained uncertain - which option was best? What would people say? Would they become nothing more than a terrible love story akin to Romeo and Juliet? That’s not the kind of legacy anyone would want. The shorter of the two sat next to the taller. Their hands touched and they looked at each other. In that moment they both knew what to do. The taller wiped the hair from the shorter’s face and they shared a kiss before turning to watch the sunset. No one knew where they were. No one knew their situation. No one would know why they did it. Unlike Romeo and Juliet, their story would be one of mystery. As the sun reached the horizon, they stood up. The shorter wiped a tear away from the taller’s face. They embraced and kissed once more. Then, together, they jumped. From the precipice to the ocean below. And tomorrow never came.

Original pieces are rarely something I post. I’m very protective of my writing and have to be confident in the story before I post it. So here it is “Precipice” in all its melancholic glory. 

The gender of the characters is deliberately ambiguous as are the details of why they find themselves at the precipice’s edge. Come to think of it, their species is also ambiguous so they could be extraterrestrials if you so choose. Much of the story is open to reader interpretation. Obviously, I have my own interpretation. But I wanted this story to be vague. 

This story was written while listening to @benjpierce and @thatsthat24 sing “Tomorrow Never Came” on repeat. And it serves as inspiration for the story. So a big thanks to them for their cover (without it I would have never heard this song). Seriously, Thank you, Thomas and Ben!! -Kt💗
