do you still regularly bake?
Yeh! Like not as much as I used to but I did make some sourdough recently.
Tumblr media
I also adopted a “no knead” recipe and I use that a lot too! It asks for all bread flour but I like to sub in some whole wheat or rye.

all i have been craving are the foods of my childhood but a lot of those are very difficult to acquire at this point. for example, as an after school snack one of my favorite things to eat were these twice baked mashed potato boats in these little blue paper sleeve cups. you got 2 in one package at the dollar store from the frozen section and the cheese ones were my favorite. but ive gone to all the dollar stores and even that cursed dollar general where most things are not a dollar and god even the dollar store is a dollar twenty-five nowadays and they’re nowhere to be found. I want buttered noodles but specifically the leftover dollar store egg noodles from last nights dinner sprayed with gobs of ‘i can’t believe its not butter’ and doctored up with the Italian spices, red pepper flakes and parm packets from the local pizza place and i wanna watch is spin slowly in the microwave in a red-tinged tupperware. I want a Celeste pizza on a metal round disc which i can still find but they got rid of the metal disc so the crust isn’t the same and instead of sixty-four cents they’re like, fuckin two bucks for the tiniest pizza in the world, and I ain’t payin that. I want a Wawa breakfast sandwich which i can get but would it be the same if it’s not the ones bought by my grandfather, who used to get up early to grab the paper and drive over in the crown vic to clear out the entire Wawa hot sandwich section by getting five hash browns and at least one of every type of sandwich like some sort of south jersey noah’s ark, even though only three people were eating? he’s gone now and I’m no longer eleven, twelve, thirteen waking up at ten am to “good morning, morning glory,” with the comics picked out and laid next to my plate and the shmorgasboard of pork roll and sausage and scrapple sandwiches. they don’t even have the small wawas anymore. i just made a bowl of cereal today. i’m still hungry.

-->And then it was time for everyone to converge on the greenhouse and help out Victor – specifically, by doing some targeted harvesting while he finished up his tending! I had Alice return to normal and rush in there to pick the coconuts, the pineapples, the soy and black beans (and evolve a couple of plants while she was at it), while Smiler picked a bunch of their herbalism stuff (with a focus on stuff like the noxious elderberries and poison fireleaf I didn’t have before). Smiler then dusted Victor’s bees with mite treatment, fertilized their noxious elderberries so they could evolve them up to nice level, and headed upstairs to have a nice bath –
-->And Alice got sent to the kitchen to make some more food for the food stand, using her new appliances! :D Because if we’re going to have a food sale, we need to have food to sell! She’d already made a garden pizza last playsession while at the store, which was already in the stand – I thus had her make a fresh batch of dough in the stand mixer, then bake up some banana split waffles, a loaf of artful focaccia, some minty mocha cupcakes (in the oven! :D), and a pineapple pizza! Yes, I was thinking a bit about food that Smiler would probably like, as they were the one who was going to be running the stand – sometimes I regret that they’re a vampire who can’t eat regular food in this save, as I know any human Smilers would be all over banana split waffles and pineapple pizza. In another save, Smiler, I promise! I’ll fudge things a bit in my potential future Valicer In The Dark save! XD
-->While Alice was getting her cooking on, Victor and Smiler were keeping busy with the last of the farm chores (while the chickens were keeping busy with a fox – I gotta get some more livestock upgrade parts). Victor FINALLY finished the tending (and deactivated poor Elmer to stop the bot from constantly trying to weed a glitched plant) and got the initial batch of super-selling done, then left Smiler to finish off selling everything while he cleared out the cow shed (and once again dropped the results on the ground next to said cow shed – I just had him put the trash in his inventory for later recycling). Smiler got Gardening skill 9 from all the super-selling (and harvesting the lemon tree in the corner that had gotten skipped in all the super-sell batching), which pleased me greatly –
And then I realized “wait a minute. Isn’t it supposed to be New Skill Day? Where’s the holiday thing?” Concerned, I checked the calendar, and confirmed that it was indeed a holiday – but that I didn’t have the overlay for it in the corner of my screen. Uh-oh. That DEFINITELY seemed like a sign the save file was on its way out. I decided not to worry TOO much about it at the moment, as New Skill Day is just a pop-up holiday, and not a particularly important one, and instead Alice box up the final pizza, slapped all the food in the foot stand, and had Smiler grab said food stand and gather everyone up to bring them to the Brindleton Bay Pawspital –

Top Features to Look for in a Deck Gas Oven
When outfitting a commercial kitchen, choosing the right deck gas oven can make all the difference in achieving culinary excellence. Whether you're baking artisan bread, crafting the perfect pizza, or preparing a variety of other dishes, a high-quality deck gas oven is essential. Here’s what you should look for to ensure you're investing in the best gas oven for your needs.
1. Consistent Heat Distribution
One of the most critical features of a deck gas oven is its ability to provide consistent heat distribution. Uneven heat can lead to undercooked or overcooked dishes, which is unacceptable in a commercial setting. Look for a deck gas oven that features well-designed burners and a sturdy deck that ensures uniform heat across the entire cooking surface. This will help you achieve perfect results every time.
2. Temperature Control and Precision
Precise temperature control is another vital feature in a deck gas oven. The best gas oven models come equipped with advanced temperature control systems that allow you to set and maintain the exact temperature required for various recipes. This precision is especially crucial for baking delicate pastries or pizza, where even minor temperature fluctuations can affect the final product.
3. Robust Construction and Durability
Commercial kitchens demand equipment that can withstand heavy use. Therefore, a deck gas oven should be built from durable materials that can handle high temperatures and frequent use. Stainless steel is a common choice for its strength and ease of cleaning. Additionally, check for features like reinforced decks and heavy-duty doors to ensure longevity.
4. Adjustable Decks
For versatility, consider a deck gas oven with adjustable decks. This feature allows you to customize the height of each cooking deck, accommodating different types of dishes and baking needs. Adjustable decks are particularly useful in a busy kitchen where you may need to switch between baking pizzas and roasting meats.
5. Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is an important consideration, especially for commercial kitchens looking to reduce operating costs. Modern deck gas ovens are designed to be more energy-efficient, using less gas while providing optimal cooking performance. Look for models with energy-saving features like insulated doors and efficient burners.
6. Ease of Maintenance
A deck gas oven should be easy to clean and maintain. Features such as removable crumb trays, smooth surfaces, and accessible burners make it easier to keep your oven in top condition. Regular maintenance will extend the lifespan of your oven and ensure it operates efficiently.
7. Brand Reliability
When investing in a deck gas oven, choosing a reputable brand can provide added peace of mind. For example, Chefs Shop offers a range of high-quality deck gas ovens known for their performance and durability. Opting for a trusted brand ensures you get reliable service and support when needed.
8. Additional Features
Some deck gas ovens come with additional features that can enhance functionality. Look for ovens with built-in timers, interior lighting, or steam injection capabilities. These extras can improve the cooking process and add convenience to your kitchen operations.
Conclusion
In summary, selecting the right deck gas oven involves evaluating its heat distribution, temperature control, construction, and additional features. Investing in a high-quality deck gas oven, like those offered by Chefs Shop, can greatly enhance your commercial kitchen's efficiency and output. Ensure that you also consider energy efficiency and ease of maintenance when making your choice. Ultimately, the right deck gas oven will be a valuable asset in your kitchen, contributing to the success of your culinary endeavors. For all your commercial kitchen needs, don’t forget to explore the options available in commercial kitchen equipment.
