How feminism and women's suffrage undermine and attack biblical manhood
Feminism and women’s suffrage were and are a direct assault on biblical manhood. They evolved hand-in-glove. They are part and parcel of one another and one cannot exist without another. Of course, most of us realize this but not everyone realizes the immense damage caused by them or that they were a direct assault on manhood and a man’s God-given command to lead and provide for his own family.…

You once said “there is no wrong way to do girlhood” but what do you actually mean? The Bible and Christianity do present certain standards for men’s behavior and for women’s behavior, it doesn’t treat men and women as identical (ie women can’t be priests/pastors for example, cross dressing is generally sinful, etc). This is coming from someone who doesn’t quite fit the expectations of the stereotype of gender in modern culture by the way not from a place of some radical, I know Christianity is not so shallow as to say something like “men can’t be emotional/women can’t be brave” or something stupid like “men can’t like flowers/women can’t like sports” but Christianity also favors “traditional gender roles” and I have been simply confused for a long time..
Womanhood and Biblical womanhood are two different things. I also, for the record, generally see a difference between political statements and religious ones, because I do not like the idea of giving the government spiritual authority or allowing it to legislate morality. Making rules for a wide swath of people that don't necessarily conform to a single religion is tricky, and it's not the government's business.
Now, to answer you question: Biblically, yes, there are specific roles that men and women play, especially in marriage. But I don't believe that not perfectly fulfilling Biblical womanhood makes someone not a woman. At best 'woman' means someone who was created/designed to fulfil Biblical womanhood; the fact that many women are not does not make them less of women, and that's what my original comment was about: being a woman is not dependent on a person's behavior, inclinations, likes and dislikes, etc.
You mention the Bible having specific standards for men and women, and a lot of people, we both know, don't conform to those standards. But the Bible also has standards for human beings in general, and not conforming to those standards doesn't make us not human.
I could talk more about how I don't think the government should have as much authority as it does over marriage, but I'll leave my thoughts under a readmore since you didn't exactly ask those questions ;)
Thanks for the ask, I loved responding! If you have any more questions feel free to reach out, these are topics I love discussing :)
Marriage is a Judeo-Christian religious construct, with the specific role of foreshadowing/being a type of the relationship between Christ and the Church, and if it doesn't fulfil that purpose in all the ways outlined in the Bible, it should not be called marriage. Alas, the world has taken the word 'marriage' and I don't see the church gaining exclusive rights to it anytime soon, so I'm advocating for the idea of the church using the word 'holy matrimony' (as, with the word 'holy' in it, I don't see the government/politics picking it up anytime soon). So in that sense, you could be married (legally married, living together, having sex, raising children) without being bonded in holy matrimony (married by/in a church, being Christian, being an opposite-sex relationship, following Biblical gender roles, being faithful to each other, raising children the way the Bible instructs, not getting divorce except in the case of fornication, etc).
The government should have no say in who can and cannot get married (even when 'marriage' is a purely secular social construct). Any two people, regardless of gender, political or religious ideology, etc. should be able to sign a document for all the legal trappings of marriage, the only exceptions being in areas that the government has legitimate authority over, in this case, for example, minors and legal consent, etc.
I don't believe the government should ban gay marriage, because it's not the government's business. I don't believe there should be any legislation for or against marriage. Marriage is just a pre-written contract the government lets you sign to give both spouses some legal benefits (such as hospital visiting rights).
Holy matrimony, on the other hand, is wholly the church's business, and the church should (and should be legally able to) refuse to bond in holy matrimony any two individuals who do not plan to live up to God's design for it, being the expression of the union of Christ and the Church, and it should be acknowledged that, as holy matrimony is the expression of the union of Christ and the Church, God has final say over what is and is not holy matrimony.

”Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His body. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.“

Catholic Man Moment - Activity Does Not Mean Accomplishment
Second Sunday in Ordinary Time January 14, 2024 John 1:35-42: They saw where he was staying and they stayed with him.
Activity Does Not Mean Accomplishment
Immersed in the pages of the Gospel of John 1:35-42, we witness the remarkable moment when the first two disciples of Jesus decide to follow in His footsteps. Curiosity and awe stirred in their hearts as they trailed after the Son of God, their eyes fixed on His every move. Together, they journeyed to the place where He resided, basking in His divine presence and gaining invaluable knowledge.
In this pivotal moment, we see the brilliance of Christ's decision in selecting His Apostles, laying the foundation for His church to flourish in the world. As devoted Catholic men, we understand the importance of seeking guidance and mentorship in pursuit of growth and understanding. Just as we spend time with those who can impart wisdom and knowledge in our personal and professional lives, these disciples eagerly lingered with Jesus, soaking up His teachings and imbibing His ways.
In the realm of business, we also recognize the significance of investing time with those who hold the keys to success. Whether it be poring over company manuals, forging relationships with influential owners and bosses, or understanding the needs and desires of our clients, we follow in the footsteps of the disciples, humbly learning from those who can guide us towards triumph.
And in the journey of love, we see the same principle at play. With hearts open and minds willing, we spend time with our potential wives getting to know them intimately and discerning if they are the chosen one to be our lifelong companion.
In all aspects of life, we can learn from the example of those first two disciples who eagerly followed Jesus to His dwelling place. May we too seek out the wisdom and guidance of those who can lead us towards our desired destinations.
As Catholic men, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of daily obligations and lose sight of our true purpose. But simply filling our days with busyness and distractions won't bring us any closer to achieving our goals. It's crucial to pause and reflect on our actions, to ask ourselves: are we truly living up to our potential? Are we making a meaningful impact on our own lives and the lives of those around us?
In a world obsessed with numbers and superficial measures of success, it's essential to remember that true significance lies not in the quantity of our followers, but in the quality of our actions. Are we truly making a difference, or are we simply part of the monotonous crowd? Are we leaders, or mere followers?
The choice is ours.
Gospel Jn 1:35-42 John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God." The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" — which translated means Teacher —, "where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they went and saw where Jesus was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah" — which is translated Christ —. Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas" — which is translated Peter. https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/011424.cfm
Said another way …
In the Gospel of John 1:35-42, the scene opens with two of John the Baptist's disciples following Jesus after hearing John's proclamation that He is the Lamb of God. Jesus asks them what they are seeking and they respond by asking where He is staying. Surprisingly, Jesus invites them to come and see for themselves. These two disciples not only followed Jesus, but they stayed with Him for the entire day. This simple invitation from Jesus highlights the importance of spending time with Him, getting to know Him and His ways. This reminds us that in our busy lives, we must be intentional about who we follow and what we pursue. As Catholic men, we can learn from this example and understand the value of spending time with Jesus in prayer, reading the Bible and participating in the sacraments. Just as these first two disciples stayed with Jesus and witnessed His glory, we too can experience the divine wisdom and guidance of Christ by staying close to Him in our daily lives.

Characteristics Of A Godly Man
Today I wanted to go a bit off my normal article to share something I have been discussing with the guys I disciple. I am BIG proponent of Biblical manhood, which seems like a no-brainer. God has intrinsically created men to behave and act in certain ways. Our culture on the other hand has started to attack manliness by labeling it toxic. I do agree that there are some forms of “manliness” out…

Dear Evangelicals:
It started with the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, which sought to save us all from Romans 1:18-20, and the certain knowledge of how God made us. Women are women, and men are real men as the CBMW understands them, the CBMW insists, in spite of what can be seen, both under a microscope and in plain sight.

Enter The Federalist, which seeks to warn us about what they see as the phony masculinity of counterfeits like ... James Comey.
Whither America, friends? Whither America?
It's a darn good thing emo Comey doesn't head up the FBI anymore. You can't very well protect America from her enemies, both foreign and domestic, when you're constantly crying about how she's circling the drain. We need a real leader, who tackles bears, prances around in flight suits, and rides horses while half-naked, not this guy👇.
Tumblr media
I mean, what was emo Jesus's deal, anyway? Weeping and
yelling and vandalizing MAJOR religious shrines (Talk about Christian persecution!) And then, He has to go and ugly-cry about NESTING?!? With JERUSALEM?!? Sounds kinda ....
Well, you're the guardians of churchy masculinity and femininity. I'll let you decide.

Clearing Up a Media Firestorm on Biblical Sexuality
Ran across this late last night and was impressed with Dr. Heath Lambert’s presentation of his church’s recent statement on biblical sexuality. Well done. Don’t trust the media headlines. Listen to his words and explanation. And Christian, don’t flinch when the world doesn’t like it. Truth is determined by a majority vote of the culture. It is determined by the sovereign God of the universe who…

Do we really believe in Sola Scriptura?
I believe in Sola Scriptura. I stand on it theologically in everything. Sola Scriptura literally means Scripture alone, meaning that Scripture alone is our authority.
Why does Sola Scriptura matter to biblical womanhood? Because without the authority of Scripture, there is no case for biblical womanhood. No Titus 2: 3-5. No Proverbs 31 woman.  Without Sola Scriptura, we have nothing. I stand on Sola Scriptura. I stand on it theologically in everything. Sola Scriptura literally means Scripture alone, meaning that Scripture alone is our authority. I’m a Titus 2…

On Men and Women: Considering Mosaic Law
We have now seen manhood and womanhood from Genesis 1-3. The principles we saw in the narrative drive the distinctions we see between men and women in the remainder of Scripture. The most basic truth we have received is that men are the direct picture of God in relationship to His creation. Women are the direct picture of creation, especially humanity, in relationship to God. As a result, Women…

trad Catholics and evangelicals are always so pressed about "biblical manhood" this and "biblical womanhood" that, "is it A Major Sin for women to wear pants?" and "A Man in a dress is an Abomination >:("
if you were REALLY about appropriate garments according to the Bible, NO ONE wore pants. if you're talking about "biblical manhood," you better be wearing nothing but knee-length skirts + dresses or else you're just deceiving others with false teaching and leading them astray with your sinful garmets :/
