Memory #2: Big Empty

Akhenaten drove through the lonely desert road. Her mind swam with thoughts about the ill-fated Urzon. The son of Lorgar had been one of her closest friends and confidents. They'd met each other during a mission in Ghortar VIII. At first Urzon had been shy, but he'd gradually warmed up to her. It was their mutual interest in history which fostered their friendship. The two eventually were often seen together, always taking about civilizations long gone. In the seventh year of their friendship, Urzon gifted her a beautifully illustrated book on the history of Colchis. It became one of Akhenaten's favorite books, to the point its pages became worn from how often she read it. Other history books followed the first one. By the time the Triumph at Ullanor happened Akhenaten owned 153 books which were gifted by her friend.

She thought their friendship would last forever.

A sharp pain on her shoulder reminded her of its agonizing end. Why did it took her over 50 years to realize what kind of people the Word Bearers truly were? Things weren't ok since then. The psyker wondered if she would ever be the person she once was. She was sick and tired of the terrible boredom of pain.
