But behind every smile, hides a troublemaking kids who loves to rebel against her father’s wishes, Luna is to be a lady in waiting but she prefers to go in an adventure and explore the world. She’s adventurous, daring, and even crazy when someone calls her a “pipsqueak.” But despite being rebellious, she can also have a soft side when she rebels too much to the point she feels guilty for being too aggressive or daring.

Afterwards, Luna was excited to have a wedding to remember. Until one unfortunate event where Luna father finds out about Ace turning against the Storm Hawks and swearing his loyalty to Cyclonia, Luna didn’t know that the Ace she knew was bad. Her father told her they had to leave and took her away from Terra Celestial until her mother went to go grab the scroll before it was too late. From there she never returned and Moonlight told Deimos to leave and never return, making Luna confused until her father fed her some tea that would soon make her forget about the arranged marriage and Dark Ace. When they arrived at Atmosia, they soon started a new life and Luna father heard the news that her mother didn’t make it. They had their funeral at Atmosia as Luna promised her mother that she will chase her dreams, unfortunately for Luna her father wants her to be a “Lady in Waiting” so that she could be married and start her own life. But pretty soon, a new squadron called “Storm Hawks” will soon change Luna’s life, including being adopted by squad Medic.

Tell me why you did it. I dare you to give me something new for an excuse!" Deimos: Deimos looks at the mess that you've managed to cause, sniffing at the results of your choices. Then her head turns slowly towards you, a rumbling noise growing in the wind that you only realize is a growl when you see the first flashes of teeth in her muzzle. By the time you figure out that she knows it was your fault, there is a pair of jaws wrapped around your throat.

Character

Ares, AKA Mars, is Greco-Roman god of war, spirit of battle and courage. Second son of Zeus and Hera. Although he was disliked for his short-temper and aggressive demeanors, he is known as “father of Amazoness and Rome”. Arranged marriage with Enyo was needless to describe, toxic and dysfunctional; Enyo neglected and occasionally abused him with cruel words and physical violence. He endured for their son Enyalios to live normally, but when the abuse was revealed to Olympians Ares was encouraged by Hephaestus, Hestia, and others to divorce her. Although freed from Enyo’s abuse, he remained love-touch starved but finds comfort of blue roses sent anonymously to him. He occasionally accompanied Aphrodite whenever his brother Hephaestus was out working. While flattered that she’s attracted to him, Ares didn’t wish to betray his brother. One day, on his way home from war, he found little dove crying for its mother. Feeling sympathy, he picked it up and take it along to his home to care for it. However, he was shocked when the dove transformed back as Aphrodite. He was offended by trickery, but surprised to see petals of blue roses she rained in his house as she confessed her love to him. Realizing he himself loving her all along, the two began the love affair, but exposed to the gods by his brother Hephaestus who have heard of their affair from Helios and Apollo. Ashamed with guilt and humiliation, Ares left to Thrace. Eventually, reconciled with his brother, he learned that Aphrodite had his child and gave birth to a son named Eros.

Because of his dysfunctional first marriage, he had been touch/love starved as this lead to emotionally unstable conditions, lashing out his misery as anger when in war, causing many deities to fear or avoid him more. Unlike uncaring Zeus, Ares is no sex offender as he prioritizes consent of others. Equally loving his children and grandchildren, he would go in any level to protect them. Whenever Aphrodite shows a slight self-consciousness of her own appearance, Ares would immediately comforts her in his surprisingly bashful but genuine affections, melting the love goddess’ heart. According to many deities, Ares is the “sub/bottom” in relationship with Aphrodite.

In Fairly Odd Parents AU: Being one of the Olympian gods survived from the downfall, he resides with his wife Aphrodite. According to Eros/Cupid, Ares is described to be THRICE vindictive and jealous than Hera’s. He is also one of a very few gods Jorgen fears. It is also revealed he is “father of Amazonian Fairies”, as Amazonian fairies call him “papa”, “dad/daddy” or “father” with sheer glee when he visits them. The love god told Timmy it was Ares who taught him archery, and the godchildren can see Ares is a family man, unlike neglectful Zeus.

In Courage the Cowardly Girl AU: Along with other Greek deities, he witness his father falling for Courage Bagge, much to his annoyance and chagrin. He seemed disturbed how 2000 years of imprisonment in heaven can make Zeus forgot how to approach women. 

In Grimm Adventures of Billie & Manny AU: He is one of the Olympian gods who support Hades’ status as Greco-Roman underworld ruler. Due to casualties from war, Ares help Hermes’ part-timing in counting the dead before retrieving their soul to underworld. Taken interest in Manny’s attitude, he thought of training the blond teenager as fine soldier. Watching Manny and Billie’s interaction brought him the times he and Aphrodite spend their time together.

In Camp Lakebottom AU: He was only mentioned by Esmeraldus, the merman who reside in Lakebottom. Ares was well-known for the first Olympian god for being pardoned from murdering Poseidon’s son and yelled for women’s right. According to Aphrodite, Ares partake in protecting female victims and a feminist. 

In Disney Retelling - Heracles AU: Ares is portrayed as a main antagonist, finding Heracles’ existence as a threat as he believes he would replace his position as Olympian god as Ares is least liked by fellow gods. Hearing truth of Heracles’ birth, Ares decided to “avenge” his mother by concocting plan to get rid of Heracles. Throughout Heracles’ adventures in arc “Heracles; Year 1-12”, Ares sabotages or bring trouble in his and his friends’ lives. Ares is also a vindictive and jealous god, mercilessly making Aphrodite’s flings’ lives miserable or attempt to kill them for “defiling” his love with “their lowly seeds”. Through the journeys, Heracles confronted him as the god of war persuaded Hera to turn back on Zeus and take over Olympus. Heracles then saved his half older brother from Typhon and later, the two bothers finally make amends.

Did you know planet mars has two moons Phobos and Deimos. Mars also has polar ice caps and is said to have seasons as well but the a twice as long as the seasons on earth? Romans stated that Mars is also said to link to Aries the god of war

I did not know any of these fun facts but I found a way to relate Taylor’s swift and Billie Eilish to them and now they feel even more fun.

Wyoming Young and Strong Return with Another Pacific Northwest Gem

~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~

I've had my earphones filled with the sounds WYOMING YOUNG AND STRONG this week. The Seattle trio generates a brooding atmosphere on the order of Black Tusk and Kylesa, and similarly shout their lyrics (often in unison). There's something quite fierce, and even a bit joyful, about such a presentation. There are, after all, fantastic tales to be told!

Today, Doomed & Stoned is giving you a first-listen to Wyoming Young & Strong's spirited new single, "Tursulas," from the upcoming concept album, 'Wicked Upon You' (2023). The band has created a whole lore about this song:

"Tursulas" is the first song we wrote and recorded as a three piece. We’re really happy with how much more we can do with as a three piece. This song finds Wyoming right after the Winter War. He’s signed on to a ballista team, on the repurposed war ship that is to return the Tappurien Witches to their home. The Witches had been hired to support his side in the war but alas, even with their help the cause was hopeless.

After days at sea the crew encounters a monstrosity known as the Tursalas. The Tursalas is a tentacled horror that dwarfs the warship. They try in vain to escape but the ship is lost. Wyoming is thrown overboard but the witches manage to open some kind of magical portal, much like the portal that rescued him while he was floating in space after escaping the Shaman of Deimos. They seem to escape through it with a few of his fellow crew members. The song ends with Wyoming adrift and alone.

As the song opens, we are greeted by angsty arpeggios that finally erupt in a full-out riot. Strong bass tones, doomy guitar chords, and furious drumming both ground us and rock our world during the stormy five-and-a-half minute ride. The band crafts episodic moments that stimulate the imagination of the listener, inviting us to wonder. The recording falls easy on the ears, with all the instruments given realistic presence.

Look for Wyoming Young & Strong's Wicked Upon You, the band's second full-length album, on February 9th (pre-order here). Stick it on a playlist with early-Mastodon, Big Business, and Zirakzigil.

Wicked Upon You by Wyoming Young and Strong

SOME BUZZ

'Wicked Upon You,' Wyoming Young & Strong’s latest release, continues to tell the tale of our fabled hero Wyoming, a man who has journeyed across time and space after being forcibly and unwittingly transported to an unforgiving future. Wyoming has overcome challenges and grown through his adventures, learning about the evolution of humankind and his own magical lineage. His current path ties to his past, as his past ties to his future.

This release finds Wyoming in the midst of realization. Following the events chronicled on the previous Bend the Night 7-inch release, he has been a part of losing battle in the Winter War and is now tasked with returning the witches of Tappurien to their home. En route, their ship is attacked and destroyed by an ancient, gargantuan beast known as the Tursulas.

After floating at sea for days on the wreckage he is captured by the Grey Blade. This horrific submersible also holds other enslaved victims of the gods, and one regales him with the tale of Burned Path, outlining how his world has fallen and why Wyoming must find a way through this new hellish landscape of destruction.

The Grey Blade then delivers him to an old enemy of humankind that can best be described as an omniscient celestial. This being is all powerful, but yet still derives pleasure from tormenting humans. In the final saga Space Wizard, we hear about one of the mighty but delusional Magi that Wyoming previously met. His recollection of this event helps him understand more about how the Magi can at times falter, and what they must do for humankind to ascend.

Wyoming Young and Strong has been singing folk songs dedicated to this epic hero since their inception. Josh, Jason, and Josh have arranged these songs in the tradition of bass, drums, guitar, and vocals. Just like the Triad of the Vision before them, they wind the tales of Wyoming through the lens of stoner and noise rock. Taking inspiration from the Melvins, Shellac and Sleep.

New(ish) Comics Day

This week’s collection at DCUI was actually kinda mid for me when I was scrolling looking for stuff to read. (I would like to repeat my rant that while YES it’s nice to see Titans being the premier team could we please get ANY TEAM BOOK for any character under 25 to be on rather than OT/NT Titans book #4??) Nonetheless:

Hawkgirl #1: oh damn this is actually good and fun and this is unfair as I have been trying really hard not to care about Thanagarians. (I now need to read about Kendra on the Blackhawks because if Dinah is teasing Kendra about it it’s probably hilaribad) I don’t know why we have a palette-swapped Kory with a talking corgi, but there’s also a palette-swapped Kory with a talking corgi. Also this is uh a very queer book and I’m enjoying it.

Knight Terrors: Shazam! #1: look I know I have very much been avoiding reading Knight Terrors at least until it’s all over, but also this had Mary on the cover and I’m weak. It’s…fine? Mary’s having nightmares about Billy being evil, fires burning the family to death, danger to her siblings and…eating bugs. Ok, I’m on board with this ‘is nobody writing this event actually good at writing horror?’

Warlord #11: This week’s issue is called Flashback! Travis, Mariah and Machiste get chased into a cave by a Triceratops. So Travis decides to reminisce to himself about how he ended up in Skartaris.

As you may recall, Travis Morgan was a US military pilot who was flying a spyplane over the USSR when he had to bug out to get back to the US really fast. So he flew over the North Pole and ran out of fuel.

Compasses don’t work that way, Travis.

Travis sees some land through the clouds as he’s trying to safely crash his empty plane and parachutes out to land in a jungle. Because he apparently flew in through the hole in the world to the hollow earth land of Skartaris. Ta da!

Has no water, food, hat, shelter or medical supplies. DOES have a knife and a gun with 12 bullets. Sure, everything you need, Travis. (Travis proceeds to drink straight out of a creek and I hope he enjoys his interesting intestinal parasites)

Anyway, with his gun and 12 bullets Travis Morgan sees a hot girl fighting a dinosaur and since Travis has never seen a hot girl in this series without IMMEDIATELY trying to get in her pants, he rushes off to try and ‘rescue’ the damsel. And wastes half his bullets immediately. What was that about having ‘everything you need’, mate? (The damsel, Tara, did not need rescuing and saw off the dinosaur on her own)

They get captured and taken to see Deimos. Travis uses up his last bullet shooting an orb Deimos is focusing through. In reward he…gets taken by a harem of girls to go have a bath and get changed into a proper Skartaris no-clothes outfit. Tara teaches him the local Skartaris language, and we start the never-ending quest to get Tara back to Shamballah, something Travis forgets he is supposed to be doing approximately every 5 pages.
