regardless of a boosted immune system, an increased recovery time, and the convenience of being indestructible, even superheroes get sick from time to time. unfortunately, you're stubborn and would much rather aid your boyfriend and his family with the day's super-tasks than rest up.

Billy Batson had been in the middle of stuffing your pillow with a freshly frozen icepack before both of your attentions had been pulled towards your TV, watching in alarm as some beastly creature continued to mutilate downtown Philadelphia. You couldn't quite make out its features, nor what it was exactly the reporter was saying, her newscaster-like tone and the picture on the screen all just a blur to you.
Too ill feeling to put some clarity on it, all you knew was that it was certainly dangerous and was definitely a call for superhero duty. Mildly delirious or not.
"Let me come with you...!" You boasted rather confidently for someone with flem still stuck in your nose, throat, and chest, and your head pounding so hard you regretted the act of shooting up in bed.
"Absolutely not." Billy rejected your demand immediately, turning back just to shake his head at you while you attempted at more protests.
"*cough* - But I can- I could help-"
Your voice strained terribly while more coughs interrupted, proving Billy's unspoken point more than enough. And even then, he'd still use the perfect timing of your sickly hacks to double down on it.
"And that's exactly why you're not coming. You need to rest so you can get better."
"Oh my god, it's just a cough. I'll be okay, I can do this."
Again, you were shot another shake of the head, along with a deadpanned look of disbelief as he made his way closer in order to stop you from pushing your blankets and sheets away.
"You can barely get up fast without feeling dizzy, but you think you can stop that?"
He pointed back at the TV, the monster actively knocking into buildings and wreaking havoc amongst crowds of running citizens.
You nodded as though you were an eager puppy, wide eyes staring back into his along with a lazy smile as if to fake like you were all better.
Unfortunately for you, Billy wasn't buying it.
"Yeah, no, lay down..."
"But-"
"And with luck, we'll have it all handled before dinner. I'll come back to check on you, 'kay?"
He hardly acknowledged your pleas, informing you that with help from his siblings, things would go smoothly. Without you.
Pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead before replacing it with a cool, damp rag, you tried a final attempt at convincing him to let you come along, fight the good fight rather than wallow in bad health.
"Billy..."
The simple call of his name and a pouty look during his urge into laying you down.
Pushing at your shoulders, he succeeded, smiling above you while you gave in to the warmth of your bed once more. He tucked you in and then backed away towards your window, opening it with the intention to jump while you watched, fighting sleep.
"I love you, (Y/N). Rest. Please."
With a pained sigh, both of disappointment and from the literal ache of your body, you did as told and heeded his words.
"Fine. I love you, too."
He smiled, and then, he was gone. A crack of thunder after a loud, "Shazam!!" the last thing you heard before forcing yourself not to worry any longer.
You'd trust your boyfriend and his siblings. Like he said, they'd surely have everything done and cleaned up by the time you finished your nap. No need for your appearance, taking some much needed recovery from the cold that ravaged your normal body.
───────── 《 .°•♡•°. 》 ──────────
"Look, ma'am, that's real sweet of you, but I-... You should really get outta' here!"
"But if I could just have you answer a few more questions, I mean...! I'm sure the public would love to know!"
"Who are you, Lois Lane? You've gotta be the most persistent reporter ever, lady...!"
It was the muffled shouts of adults that brought you back from your sleep some thirty minutes later. If you could even call it that. It was more like a delirious limbo, a point between consciousness and dreamland, all while a fever brewed and festered regardless of the now warm rag that coated over your forehead.
Hell, your pajamas could easily pass as the small towel on your head, drenched in your sweat while you groaned and pushed yourself up weakly. Your body continued to ache, nose stuffy and running at the same time, and god, did you want nothing more than to drink a gallon of water to soothe your sore throat.
Instead, you forced your eyes to open, squinting at the TV in hopes of gauging the situation that Billy assured you would be solved by now.
"bAcK tO cHecK oN y0u bEfOre dInNeR!" He had said, or something like that, which left you rolling your eyes now in the present. Half an hour later, he and his siblings were still struggling to clear out civilians from the scene! Had they even begun to tackle the beast that still roamed free on top of your beloved city? You figured not, considering you could quite literally feel the ground shaking due to its thunderous steps and loud roars.
You had to go. You couldn't not. It's very obvious they needed your help, at least with crowd control or as distraction, something! Whatever you could do to help, to save lives, you'd be more than happy to do it. Even while sick, even if it meant giving up some of your resting time to help those in need. It was what being a superhero was all about, wasn't it?
All of this power... there was no way you could just sit here and do nothing with it! Besides, it's not like anyone would really even notice that you were sick. Sure, you did get dizzy when you rose from the bed, standing on your own two feet. And yeah, your head pounded, and your nose caused your voice to dawn a nasal tone. But you could still fight, couldn't you?
You had to, with only one way to find out...
You went to your bathroom, scanning your medicine cabinet for the bottle of Cold & Flu medicine, and recklessly drank a few swallows straight from the bottle. You did so in hopes it'd hold you over for the next couple of hours, at the very least, curing your symptoms just enough to where your sickness wouldn't affect your performance.
With haste, you were back in your room, preparing yourself for the transformation from your regular self to your super-self, all with the use of the simple, magic word...
"Sha-...ahchoo...!"
Okay, that was gross.
Wiping your nose from the snot and clearing your throat with several "ahem"s and rough coughs, you tried again, moving yourself towards your window just as Billy had and checking to make sure there were no bystanders or any members of your family around to see you.
"Shazam!!"
───────── 《 .°•♡•°. 》 ──────────
"What about the monster?!" Darla shouted amongst the sea of endless screaming people and loud roars of the beast ahead, floating towards her brothers nearby with a look of concern dawning her adult features.
Billy's face mimicked hers, looking up at the beast and then back towards helpless people running in fear in all sorts of scattered directions. It was confusing, to say the least, but he'd do his best to make up for it as long as no one got injured on his watch.
"Uhh... I think we should keep clearing out people! They'll get hurt if we don't protect them!"
"But-!" Eugene started, though Billy clearly wasn't having it. One could even say the stress had gotten to him, this event definitely taking longer than anticipated with more public property being destroyed by the minute. Which meant longer clean-up duty. Which meant late dinner, which meant no time to check up on you, and-
"We'll get there when we get there!" Was his final (and pretty lax) answer, only for Freddy to swoop down and point out the next impending tragedy.
"Well, if we're gonna get there, we should get there now because it's gonna destroy the town hall!"
And it was true, the grotesque being merrily on its way towards arguably one of the most important landscapes in the city. Of course the townhall, of all buildings ever...
"Gee, thanks, Captain Obvious...!" Billy huffed, Freddy merely giving a two-finger salute in order to further solidify his frivolous behavior.
"You're welcome, Captain You-Obviously-Don't-Know-What-You're- Doing...!"
Pedro was next to return to the scene, his face twisted in oncoming question as his eyes shifted between the monster, the building, and back again.
"I mean... Do we really need the town hall? 'Cause it's super white and boring-"
"Pedro...!"
"I- What?!"
And finally, Mary. The wisest of the siblings, surely, and growing increasingly harrowed by the current events and the fact that her brothers and sister were not aiding in the fight whatsoever.
"Yes, we do need the town hall, and us standing around talking about it is not helping anything...!"
"What're we thinking?" Freddy murmured, having leaned over to Billy in hopes of their older sister not being able to hear them.
"Captain Bossy."
"Definitely."
A sudden battle cry caused their heads to snap up away from the monster and towards an incoming ball of lightning and fury. Your eyes glowed the same color as your supersuit, fist cocked back with the intention to slam every last bit of force and power you've accumulated onto your enemy. With a loud, cracking sound, it was safe to assume your hit had connected, your entire body colliding with the beast with so much force that the both of you went toppling over onto-
Oh...
"See? Told you we didn't need it." Pedro smiled and nodded, admiring your bravery and the fact you had managed to subdue the monster with one nearly fatal blow.
Mary, though unamused, marveled at the scene just the same before Billy gave a harsh sigh and a shake of the head.
"I told her to stay in bed..."
───────── 《 .°•♡•°. 》 ──────────
A mere moment had passed where you were in and out of consciousness (for the second time today, might I add), the only thing filling your vision being clouds upon clouds of smoke? Steam? Whichever the case, it caused an eerie, foggy atmosphere that didn't really seem to help your already mildly delirious state. Although, you had to admit, you were quite proud of yourself for taking down the threat in one go, having been pretty unsure of the amount of damage you'd be able to deal in your current state.
You slowly brought yourself to your feet, trying your best to squint through the "fog" in order to make out your whereabouts until you had looked down, taking notice of the weirdly textured road you stood on. It was a deep, deep maroon color. Rough and scaly, almost like a raisin and... moving?
You could've sworn that it - whatever you were standing on - was rising and sinking just the slightest. But, then again, you couldn't exactly trust your vision right now, the effects of your medicine kicking in with a weird, head-spinning affect that caused you to almost miss the loud shout of your name.
"(Y/N)!!" Billy called into the clearing mist, hands cupped over his mouth and very grateful in the moment that his adult voice was loud and deep. He was sure his calls could be heard from miles away, let alone a few feet, his worry growing when he still didn't receive a response despite that fact.
"Baby, where are you...?!"
A smile creeped onto your face at the pet name, turning and looking towards the sound of his voice. It was when the golden glow of his lightning emblem came into view that you allowed excitement to swell in your chest, calling back out to him with a squeal laced in your raspy voice.
"I'm down here, I'm okay! Did you see what I did?! I literally took it out with one punch!"
When Billy was finally able to catch sight of you, another breath of relief left his throat, hurrying towards your wobbly figure and steadying you once he felt your grip on his biceps.
"Yes, I saw, and I'm concerned because I thought I told you to stay in bed."
"Aww, c'mon, dude...!" You practically whined. "I'm totally fine, I literally feel fine! Plus, it was obvious you needed my help, so-"
"We had it handled, (Y/N)."
"Oh, is that why I-..." Harsh coughs cut into whatever attitude you were about to dunk on your boyfriend, stepping away to cover your mouth as he nodded knowingly.
"It doesn't matter when you're still sick and should be resting."
"It's *cough* fine, I'm *cough-cough* I'm fine."
He didn't have time to offer up more lectures with his deadpanned look, his siblings swift to join you two with gracious smiles of their own at your appearance and quick take down.
"That was sick, you know how sick that was?! If I could do an instant replay, I would because that was awesome!" Freddy gushed, blowing your ego higher than need be as Pedro offered up a fist bump. You returned it eagerly, only to pout again when Billy didn't hesitate to inform them all of your unfortunate status.
"You wanna know what else is sick? Her. She is. She's sick and really should not be here-"
"-But I am, and I did my part, and now everything's fine and you're just mad 'cause you're a hater...!" You huffed, being exaggerative with your arms and hands that caused Billy to give you a weird look.
"What are you, drunk?"
You took offense to the half-joking question, unsure as to why he'd ask such a thing when you felt perfectly fine and dandy. Like, cloud nine, hazy eyes, and the weird urge to run a marathon yet so, so sleepy at the same time.
"Am I drunk or am I sick, Batson, which is it?"
A pause, attitude dwindling.
"'Cause...'cause I dunno', either..."
He pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head once more in what could only be a mixture of dissatisfaction and worry.
"You took too much medicine before you got here, didn't you..."
Barely even a question, the obvious answer being yes, you could only scoff and toss your head to the side.
"No, just half the bottle..."
"That's way too much." Mary commented, nodding her head solemnly.
Before anyone could continue the odd conversation, the ground they stood on began to rise and fall a lot heavier than before.
"I knew it!" You shouted alarmingly loud, startling the siblings as they struggled to keep balance on the surface that was now beginning to rumble.
"Knew what?!" Freddy exclaimed. "What do you know?!"
"I thought I was hallucinating, but I'm not! We're not on the ground!" You informed, the shaking growing more violent by the second.
"What?!"
"(Y/N), please explain...!" Mary further urged, and before you could, a coughing fit stopped you from doing so and left everyone else in the dark, Billy trying his best to come to your side for comfort only for everyone to lose their balance the higher the "ground" rose.
Without second thought, Eugene flew upwards to get a better look at the entire scene, the rest of you quickly following in suit until you were all high enough in the sky to see that the monster was not yet finished with its rampage.
"(Y/N), hit it with another falcon punch!!" Freddy urged, Billy already shaking his head while giving an answer before you could.
"No, no, do not do that, she doesn't even feel well enough to be flying, look at her...!"
And it was true, your flying abilities suffering majorly from lack of health and increase of the medicine taking full affect making you drowsy and unfocused. You struggled to stay steady in the air, using Billy's arm as a crutch in case you were to suddenly drop from the sky. Hell, even the lightning emblem on your chest was dimming in and out as if you were literally on the verge from powering down while you spoke nasaly.
"He's...he's right, I feel- I'm pretty sure all of my power went into that one attack."
Freddy, dramatically, tossed his arms up into the air before dropping them at his sides.
"Oh, great, so we're screwed."
Protests from his siblings swiftly followed, all of them coming forth at the same time that left Freddy lifting his open palms up into the air in surrender.
"Oh, real nice, bro..." - "We're right here, y'know." - "Don't say that, we can do this...!" - "Okay, (Y/N)'s not the only one who can throw a punch, man!" - "Maybe if we spent less time talking and letting the sick girl do all of the work..."
"Sorry-sorry, my bad, I didn't realize you guys were so sensitive about this...!"
Fortunately, amongst the chaos of their words and the beast slowly rising from the ruins of Philadelphia's town hall for round two, your brain managed to fumble through half of a thought. An idea that could possibly work if executed correctly. A real plan, something that would help, which is what you came here to do, after all.
And sure, maybe you were too weak to carry it out alone, but the entire reason Billy had shared his power with you in the first place was because he trusted you. The same goes for all of his siblings. Because all of you together made a great team.
Besides, a half-assed plan was better than none at all.
So, without further ado...
"What-...What if y'all just... what if we stayed on the monster and then we just used our hands and then...boom. Right?"
You gained looks of concern and confusion at your nonsensical murmurs, the group making it known that whatever had just left your lips made zero sense to them even though you had been pretty confident in the fact that you came across perfectly clear.
Freddy was the first to prove otherwise, though, a barely audible, "...what?" leaving his throat as Billy gave you a look of sympathy and care.
"You're delirious, babe..."
"No, stop, I'm being serious...!" You croaked while pushing him away, which in hindsight, wasn't in your best interest when you were doing good just to stay afloat as well as dealing with an oncoming migrane. You fought to ignore that as well.
"Sounds like someone needs a nap." Eugene quipped, leaving Freddy and Darla to snicker to themselves while you gave what should've been a scoff, but what ended up coming out was more of a weak cough.
"Shut up, Eugene, I'm-!" Taking a second to gather your words, you tried again, doing your best to convey your plan once more.
"We all have lightning powers, don't we? We could land on the monster... and-and boom! Y'know?"
With the movements of your hands and fingers, you nodded as if to confirm that they understood this time around. Unfortunately, no one seemed to catch on, Mary the only one staring ahead rather than at you in confusion until something in her brain seemed to click, and she was suddenly coming towards you with a smile.
"Wait... Wait, I think I understand!"
"You do?!" You jinxed with your boyfriend, your words laced with a tone of relief and excitement while Billy's held more of a shock and surprise.
Mary nodded briskly, taking your hands in hers upon delivering her praise.
"Yes, (Y/N), you're a genius, oh my gosh! Why didn't I think of that?!"
With the two of you giving relieved laughs in understanding of one another, Darla was the first the point out the obvious for the rest of the group, leaving room for Mary to explain your plan much better than you had twice before.
"Am I the only one really confused right now?"
"Guys, we have to electrocute the monster, that's the only way it's going down. And I think, what (Y/N) means is, if we all use our powers together as much as we can like she did when she knocked it out, we'll generate enough electricity to do so."
"Yes!!" You confirmed with a mix of exasperation and relief in your hoarse voice, leaning your head against Billy's shoulder as if just the act of talking about your plan tired you out.
It made you wonder if you'd be strong enough to participate in executing, the feeling of letting down those around you much worse than any monster attacking the city or illness attacking your body.
Billy could sense this, raising and dropping the shoulder your head rested upon to grab your attention before delivering playful encouragement.
"Huh. Remind me never to doubt your sick-brain."
Sniffling, you nodded, appreciating his efforts and gaining back some of that lost confidence.
"Damn right."
It wasn't long before your plan had been put into action, one sibling distracting the monster long enough for another to land on it unsuspectingly until, one by one, all of you had your hands firmly planted on a part of its body. Counting down the seconds, you guys generated any and all electricity your bodies had stored into your hands and finally, found yourselves practically frying the beast to ash.
For the last time today, it fell. And thankfully, not on top of any more buildings. You were happy to witness it all, let alone be a part of it, nodding as if to pat yourself on the back for doing good. You certainly deserved it, you felt, seeing as all of your power went drained, and you were even too sick to stand. You convinced yourself to sit, leaning up against a large wall of rubble in attempts to recuperate.
"Just need to catch my breath..." You reasoned with yourself as though your eyes weren't half a blink away from fully closing.
"Need a second..." You coughed, head spinning with the urge to succumb to the cold that left even super-you ill-advantaged.
. . .
"(Y/N)...!!" Mary called into the debris, only having run into her own siblings rather than you. This worried her, especially once it had been revealed that you were fighting while sick. It also made her wonder why such mystical and magical abilities couldn't cancel out such a common flu or virus. She'd definitely be found reading up on the matter later, that's for sure...
But, until then, the search continued, Billy joining his older sister's side with a familiar concern he always harbored for you.
"(N/N)...!! Where you at, babe?!"
"You don't think she got crushed, do you?"
Mary rolled her eyes before lightly slapping the arm of her other brother, Freddy never one to learn to keep his badly timed jokes to himself.
"Don't say that, we're already worried enough...!"
"Agh-! I didn't mean it...!"
"There she is...!" Darla cheered, pointing up ahead to where you had peacefully laid yourself to rest.
Okay, that sounded a little morbid, but it's meant in the literal sense, not to worry.
Although it's not like they could tell the same, the view to them more of an alarming take on what should've been a more joyous reunion.
With super-speed Billy had almost forgotten he possessed, he was by your side in an instant, crouching down and allowing a giant wave of relief to wash over him when he was granted a clear look of your rising and falling chest. You were still breathing (thank god), and pretty heavily, he noticed, his gaze trailing upwards to inspect your face for any marks or bruises.
He found none, only the beads of sweat on your forehead and your eyes sunken in while you lightly snored, unable to breathe through your nose even in slumber.
"She's okay..." He had spoken to himself at first, a final act of reassurance he hadn't realized he needed before pulling himself together and turning back to shout.
"She's okay...!!"
Naturally, this woke you, your eyes fluttering open and a smile gracing your features at the sound of his voice.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." You apologized, fighting back a yawn as you placed a cold hand into Billy's warm one. "I was just...sleepin'. Tired."
"That's what you get for pushing yourself." He half-joked, granting you a smile of his own that brought some heat back to your cheeks.
"You should've stayed home." He reiterated for what seemed like the millionth time this late afternoon.
"Sorry. Just really needed to help you guys..."
"You did. By a lot." He admitted, gently urging you to your feet. "You did good, really."
You laughed weakly, thankfully using Billy for support as the rest of the siblings approached, glad you were okay, up, and even trying to walk.
"That's all I wanted."
"Say the word." Billy coaxed, and for once, you heeded his advice and muttered it with the hopes that you'd suddenly return home. Safe, sound, and in your warm, cozy bed.
Alas, that was wishful thinking. Instead, you were transformed back to your regular self, gently held in Billy's adult arms with the warmth exuding from his lightning emblem lulling you back to sleep much faster than expelling large quantities of magical power ever could.
"I'm taking her home." He announced, sure of himself this time around before swiftly adding, "And she's gonna stay there...!"
As if you could actually hear him and his directive attitude, he looked down at your figure cuddled against him before going on.
"And hopefully, she'll be better soon enough for people to thank her."
───────── 《 .°•♡•°. 》 ──────────
"Hey, I think my sinuses are finally staring to clear up...!" You sniffled, basking in the glory that was a full, clear breath of air. Oh, how you missed air. How you missed breathing without issue, and-
"ah-cHOO!!"
"Bless you."
And... back to square one.
"Thanks..."
Normally, you'd apologize for spreading your germs, possibly passing on your sickness to your boyfriend. But, right now, cuddled up against him and finding solace in his care was all you concerned yourself with, having already thanked him a million times as he let the news channel run on your TV.
You got lucky, able to see that your selfless acts hadn't been in vain and that it really was for the best that you had gone out and helped when you felt needed.
"Feeling better?" Billy inquired, placing quick chaste kisses along your temple and forehead upon seeing the tiny smile that graced your features. You nodded against him; though not in regards to your sickness, you certainly did feel better about yourself, drifting off to sleeping knowing your city was safe and to the sound of your boyfriend's heartbeat.

"You did what?! "
"I said 'yes'!" You exclaimed gleefully, ignoring how incredulous Billy's shout came out. "And we had a great time!"
"Oh, god, (Y/N)..."
It was his groan and eyeroll you couldn't bypass, watching as he shoved his hands into his pockets and continued to kick at the rock he had been rolling down the sidewalk the whole way home from school. You pouted a little, unsatisfied with such a lackluster reaction.
"What? C'mon, he was really sweet and kind..." You praised, remembering how your latest romantic interest had treated you on your date. Your first date, no less, attempting to convince Billy of the legitness of it all until your voice dipped into playful sarcasm, nudging him with your elbow.
"Not at all judgy and sarcastic like someone I know."
"Harhar..."
"I think..." You sighed to yourself, unsure if you had even wanted to speak this thought aloud. But, you had already begun, no choice left to commit. Besides, Billy was your best friend. It was only natural that you told him everything.
"I think he might actually be it, y'know? Like, I know that's-... That this is corny sounding, but I think he could be...'the one'."
"What?!" Billy exclaimed once more, turning his wide-eyed gaze towards you for maybe a split second before closing his eyes and shaking his head in denial.
"Absolutely not, no, that's crazy, you're crazy."
"Crazy in looove~..." You hummed, suddenly reminding yourself of a certain Beyoncé track, not hesitating to spout out the lyrics as Billy tried his best to break your rose-tinted glasses and heart-shaped thoughts.
"This is definitely just a fling or something..."
"Got me lookin' so crazy right now, ya' love's got me lookin' so crazy right now~...!" You waved your hand in front of his face, Billy quick to push it away while he went on.
"Plus...! Plus, you barely even know the guy. You met him two days ago. Two! And-and you're already going on dates with him?"
"Got me lookin' so crazy right now, ya' touch got me lookin' so crazy right now~...!" You caressed his cheek with your knuckles dramatically, trailing them down until you were cupping his chin. And though he knew he was probably glowing red just from the careless act, it quickly fizzled out when he remembered you were still not seeing things the way he was. Seeing things clearly, if you asked him.
"And just like that, you've suddenly decided to be his girlfriend? Don't you think you're moving too fast? I mean-"
"-Got me hopin' you'll page me right now, your kiss got me hopin' you'll save me right now~...!" You danced around lightly, giving your best attempt at choreography while you sung, hardly taking notice of Billy's deadpan.
"Dude, are you even listening...?"
"Listening to you harsh the flow? Yeah, I am." You commented quickly before going on. "Lookin' so crazy, your loves got me lookin', lookin' so crazy in love~...!"
"Hey- Okay, seriously. Stop."
He took you by the shoulders, forcing eye contact and stopping your singing abruptly in hopes he'd make you understand where he was coming from.
". . ."
"Look, I just..." He began, already searching your eyes for a tinge of regret in your choices.
"I just think-..."
And when he found none, anything left being a curious gaze up into his own green eyes with all of the hope in the world for his support, he let a sigh escape between his lips. He softened his stare and his hold on your shoulders.
"I just... want you to be happy." A smile broke on your face at his words. "But also, be careful, okay? Please? Guys are... can be assholes, sometimes."
"Yeah, no, I've got mega experience in that department." You quipped, nudging into him once more. "Being friends with you for three years has its learning perks."
"Seriously." He reiterated his previous point with one word, hoping it would get through to your head as you nodded quickly and huffed.
"Yes, Billy, I will be as careful as possible." And finally, he allowed a smile to tug at his own lips. You shrugged.
"I mean, it's just my first serious boyfriend. How bad could it be?"
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
Billy didn't know whether you had jinxed yourself or if it was mere coincidence, but to say things were going bad would be the understatement of the century.
The boy, as long as he'd known you, had always admired your tastes. Your sense of style, any "weird" physical and vocal quirks you might've had, and often tried his best to partake in your favorite interests. So, it was certainly a surprise to him when you had been rejecting all of those things, which eventually morphed into simply ghosting him whenever he'd try and get you to indulge.
But, he also had to assume you were happy. Content enough to reject all of those things, satisfied enough not to want to leave the relationship you had gotten yourself into. And at first, he had went to Freddy and Anthea about it all, asking them about things that at first seemed a little personal, but then left them quick to realize it was in hopes to ease his worries for you.
Once their advice had been given, expressing that maybe it was for the best that you two take some time apart to explore your interests in other people and that it hadn't meant you were going to leave him in the dust like others had in the past, he did as such. Though it was hard to hear and accept at first, he was doing surprisingly well on his own once again, especially with the support of his family (plus Anthea) to back him up.
It was today, a random, fall school day, that you two had reconnected for the first time in the couple of weeks. And of course, at first, Billy was ecstatic to see you. Be in your presence, chat with you about whatever came to mind first, let the inside jokes that accumulated over time relay back and forth between the two of you...
Not that he'd be able to easily express any of that, past experiences making it quite the task for him to be as open as he wished. But he tried to be and enjoyed doing so, which was all that mattered. Besides you, of course, who mattered very deeply to him, no matter what.
Which was exactly why he was taken aback by the odd silence. You hadn't spoken a word after your initial, uncharacteristically timid greeting, almost as if you expected him to carry the entire conversation. He and Freddy had been doing so for the entire walk around the campus, lunch really the only time you three had ever shared together within school hours, and now, ever at all given your new... boyfriend.
And whenever he'd make attempts to prompt the conversation to continue with any rambles you might've wanted to add, all he would receive was a curt response or a seemingly entertained laugh or gesture. Even with Freddy rambling on in your place, both brothers having been eager to catch up with you, it was clear neither of them would be getting you to fully engage without prying.
Something they were trying to avoid doing but soon realized might be their only way to get you to open up.
"Are you okay?" Billy finally asked, leaving you to whip your head towards him in surprise.
"Yeah?" You answered, almost as if it were a question, because why wouldn't you be?
"No, I mean, like..." There was a pause, Billy trying to gather the proper way to convey his concern. But, you had already realized what he meant, your body language shifting from that of confusion to sureness. Even if it was forced.
"I'm fine." And though you chuckled through your teeth and allowed your eyes to linger towards the floor rather than his own, you upheld your front, no matter the rearranging of his wording.
"I'm just saying, like... I don't know, you just feel off, y'know? Just wanna be sure everything's good between us."
No matter the sincerity of his tone.
"Why wouldn't they be?" You questioned, attempting to keep things light and nonchalant. Hoping he wouldn't press any further.
"We barely talk, it feels like."
"We're literally talking right now, though."
"That's..." He sighed. "Not what I mean."
It was a sigh that unknowingly prompted vexation within you. Not for any particular reason. At least, not one you could place or justify. All the more incentive to push them away further while he continued.
"Plus, you're acting different, too."
"I'm really not..."
"You are, actually." Freddy agreed, quick to spare more examples of your recent change in persona. "You're way more quiet than you used to be, you don't dress how you used to... We all hardly hang out anymore, either."
"I...don't know what you're talking about, okay?" You huffed, subconsciously distancing yourself from the two boys as you walked. "I've just been with my boyfriend. What's so wrong about that?"
"Nothing, if he wasn't literally changing everything about you." Billy grumbled, no intention to truly sass-mouth you. But, it was too late to take it back upon realizing you had heard.
"Who says?" You challenged, your tone dipping into the irriation you were so valiantly holding back.
"What?"
"Who says it's what he wants? Maybe I like being this way. Have you ever thought about that?"
"That isn't true." Billy denied, shaking his head in dismay at your claims. This only frustrated you more, though you still couldn't place why. Never had you been so quick to defensive behavior when it came to your best friends, and especially Billy. They were too understanding to ever need to do so.
But his words had triggered you in a way that they shouldn't have, targeting something deep within that made you question the things you had already grown so sure about.
So instead, you projected further.
"And you're just gonna tell me that?" You scoffed as if you were mimicking amusement before continuing. "I'm perfectly fine and happy, and just because I'm not spending every waking second with you or because I wanna make some changes for myself for the better doesn't mean-"
"-I say it's not true because that's clearly just him talking." Billy cut in before you could conclude your harsh rant. "The (Y/N) I know wouldn't have ever changed herself after getting to know someone or do things she thinks will make others feel good about themselves. You deserve to do what you want and be whatever makes you happy. So yeah, sorry if I miss the old (Y/N) more than whoever this is now..."
Your lips formed a stubborn pout, word vomit coming up and out of your throat with immediate regret once they were said.
"And how do you know I didn't change myself for you? Are you saying you don't like me anymore just 'cause I've finally met someone who wants what's best for me, not for me to be someone they think I am?"
"Oh my god, this is annoying..." Billy murmured with the shake of his head and the roll of his eyes. And while sure, he was just addressing the situation, or maybe just the conversation, that's not at all how you heard it.
"...You think I'm annoying?"
"What?!" He exclaimed, almost laughing at such a wild suggestion, but quickly began to panic when he saw the tears well up on your waterline.
"No! No, no, I-..."
"Is this guy bothering you...?"
You almost jumped at the feeling of an arm snaking around your waist, but upon looking up to see the familiar face of your new love, your pout dropped into a frown.
"Not anymore." You clarified. "If I'm so annoying, Billy, we don't have to be friends anymore. Since that's obviously what you want."
"(Y/N), wait, that's not what I meant-... It's not what I want! I just-"
"Well that's too bad, because I know what I want." And the moment your eyes trailed away from the brunette to look back at your boyfriend, going practically lovesick just being next to him, Freddy was the one to grasp onto the fact that there was no getting through to you now. At least, not like this.
They watched as the lovely couple took their leave, your solemn demeanor not the same slap to the face as your boyfriend's comforting back rubs were before he shot a glare over his shoulder right towards Billy. For a moment, he was willing to ignore it, stepping forward to go after until he felt Freddy's hand tug back at his shoulder.
"Don't, dude." He warned with the shake of her head. "He isn't worth it, and... I think you should just let her cool off."
And though it left a bitter taste in his mouth to admit it...
"...You're...okay, you're right..."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
He ignored the two sets of brown eyes that stared at him, following his quick figure all the way to the kitchen, and then wincing at his stomps up the steps. From the way he had slammed the fridge door shut to his refusal to make eye contact with anyone (and probably for the best, his glare capable of icing anyone over) the second he walked through the door, Mary was swift to let her her mouth fall open in order to ask what was wrong.
Freddy spoke up before she could, shutting the front door as he entered.
"Don't worry about him, he's just in a mood."
Anthea's head perked up at this, moving her gaze away from Mary's strange, rectangular object that she had now been informed actually wasn't magic, but technology. A cool subject to be learning about, but it was now Billy's sudden frustration that piqued her interest. Or, more accurately, the cause.
"Why, what's the matter?"
Freddy couldn't help but snort to himself, waltzing over to quickly press a kiss to Anthea's temple before explaining.
"Doesn't like that his lovergirl is all cuddled up with some douchebag she met two weeks ago."
"Wait, you mean (Y/N)?" Mary smiled fondly at the mention of you while Anthea giggled at the odd yet teasing way he had said the word, "lovergirl." It ceased, though, when she posed a question of her own into the air.
"What's a...douchebag?"
"Mmm- Kind of like a dickwad." Freddy both unhelpfully and vulgarly informed. He was lucky his younger siblings and/or parents weren't around.
"Or like an asshole. A really mean yet dumb person. Kind of like how the Breyers are? Yknow?"
"Ohh!" Anthea gasped, gaining a sudden understanding once Freddy had reached the last bit of his explanation. "You mean an imbecile."
"Yup!" Freddy snapped and pointed with a smile. "An imbecile, exactly that. That's what she's dating."
"Wait-wait-wait, no way this is the same (Y/N) we're talking about right now." Mary half-laughed, half-scoffed. "You mean the same girl Billy was trailing around after like a lost puppy two or three summers ago? She was so sweet when they met, at least, when I met her. What happened?"
"Yea-up, that would be her." Freddy confirmed nonchalantly. "And, don't get me wrong, she still is. It didn't stop them from having a fight, though."
"What, about the boyfriend?" Mary pressed further, her nosyness for her younger brother's love life getting the best of her.
"No- Well...! Kinda? Less about him, more about them, together. Even though they're not together? I dunno, it's weird, hard to explain."
Anthea's gasp gained the both of their attention, the tan girl placing a hand to her heart in melancholy understanding.
"Ohh~! He pines for her from afar, but he cannot pursue what he's forbidden to attain. How tragic...!"
"...Uh...Yeah, basically that." Freddy shrugged.
"Well, we don't know the whole story, so who's to say she's officially unattainable? These things can be tricky, you know."
"Hmm..." Anthea nodded with a hum at Mary's words, agreeing with her statement as they pondered their next step. Freddy gave an amused 'Tch.' attention lost in his phone looking for his daily mishap that only a superhero like himself could fix.
"Yeah, good luck prying it from him."
And with that, the two girls spared each other a knowing look, one full of both mischief and wonder before shooting off of the living room couch and in the direction of Billy and Freddy's shared room. They gave soft knocks at first, Anthea the one to hesitate upon not just wanting to intrude. But when they didn't receive an answer, Mary was swift to disregard any second thoughts before bursting in.
"Oh my god, you're so emo..." She muttered after further inspection of the room, both girls greeted with the sight of Billy laid sprawled out on his back, head buried between the comfort of his pillows while music blasted through his earbuds. So loud, he hadn't even noticed their presence until he felt the edge of his mattress dip, angling his head to peer forward at the culprit.
He merely scoffed at the sight of Mary's teasing yet knowing smirk and then sent an eyeroll that led him back to his pillows at Anthea's shy wave.
"What now?" He practically huffed, expecting an order of chores from Mary or the random input on some super-work that needed to be completed, nevermind just homework.
"So, um..." Mary began gently, tucking in her lips as though she were pondering over her next set of words. "(Y/N)..."
But truth of the matter was, no matter how she'd approach it, Billy's cheeks would still flush red, and his eyes would gloss over. His hands would still jitter, and he'd still break out into a cold sweat. He'd still think about how pushy he was being and about how maybe he shouldn't have spoken so recklessly towards you.
"Oh my god... what did Freddy tell you..." He sighed, barely a question while pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Only that you and (Y/N) are fated to be...!" Anthea sang with a gracious smile and placing a comforting hand on top of his own. He pulled away without a second thought, eager to remind the two of how untrue such a statement could be.
"Well, if you remember anything from what Freddy wasn't supposed to tell you, you'll know that if that were true, she wouldn't have a boyfriend right now."
"Speaking of," Mary interjected. "Freddy also mentioned how the guy she's with isn't a good fit for her. Are you sure? Or rather, is that true?"
"Why does it matter?" He sassed. "She's happy, I guess. She doesn't-. . . We don't even talk anymore, so that's it. Drop it."
"Wait, you 'guess'?" Mary indulged further. "Is the guy cool or not?"
"If he is as Freddy described, then she needs to be warned that-"
"Don't you think I've tried that...?!" Billy cut into Anthea's words, running a stressed hand over his face and through his hair. "She said she's fine and that it's what she wants. So I'm over it, it's whatever. I'm not gonna stop her from doing what she wants. She's smart, so I'm sure she'll figure out what's best for her..."
It was silent for a few moments, nothing but the sound of Billy's playlist cycling through, music bleeding out of the speakers of his earbuds until Mary ceased the knawing of her bottom lip. She had been wracking her brain for the best solution, or at the very least, some older sister wisdom she could impose on her younger brother.
"I don't blame you for wanting to give up. These kinds of things can be tricky, especially now since you've waited so long to come to terms with your feelings for her."
Though wasn't her intent, her outloud thoughts sent a wave of hopelessness crashing through him. He hadn't meant to wait. Hell, he didn't even want to recognize such feelings when they first started happening. Afraid that if he confronted them, he wouldn't even get the chance to express them to you before you were out of his life, just like the rest.
But it was obvious it didn't matter what he did, if he confronted them or not. You were basically already gone. Well, not gone...
Taken. He felt that was the more appropriate word, not that he'd tell you that for fear it would imply something else he didn't mean. Just like last time.
"You want the best for her, right?"
Once again, no initial response to her question. It urged her to insist further with a slight nudge against his shoulder.
"Don't you?"
"...Yes."
"Then, for now, you be the best most supportive friend you can be. You will be there for her when she needs you."
"And if everything we've heard about her current partner is correct, then trust us, she will." Anthea confirmed, attempting again to calmly take Billy's hand in hers. He didn't pull away this time, simply allowing her to deliver comforting squeezes until she stood to trail out of the room after Mary, leaving him back to his swirling thoughts and loud music.
He decreased the volume in order to hear his thoughts better. They left him faced to admit the fact that they were right. No matter how hard he wanted to push these foreign emotions deep down back inside, he couldn't. But he also knew it would be selfish of him to try and butt in after you had made your own feelings clear to him. Instead, he'd do as advised, doing all he could in any way. Be your best friend, just like always, and support and care for you no matter what.
Because just that was better than losing you altogether. He would make peace.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
Friday afternoon was when he had finally gathered the strength and courage to do so. He had done as Freddy told him, giving you ample space and time on your own. Or, with your boyfriend, rather. And he had taken Mary and Anthea's words into deep consideration. It was now time to act, his eyes scanning over the large cafeteria in search of your (H/C) hair mixed amongst the rest of the student body.
Once he had found it and began to approach, he was swift to notice the change in color of the tips. A bold color that he never would've assumed you'd do, but was eager to ask about it the second he could. He thought it looked cool, a half-second distraction to your change in wardrobe as well. Surely more conservative, he noted, but at least both observations took away from the perturbed look on your face.
That was also something he was eager to question but wouldn't, for now, and simply settled on the simple and casual...
"...Hey."
Your head whipped towards him, silent at first with wide eyes until breaking out in a grin that he hadn't expected to come given your previous conversation. Almost as though you were glad it was him, a pleasant surprise.
"Hi...! I-... You're here, wow."
"Why wouldn't I be?" Billy almost chuckled at your fond gleefulness, happy to have whisked away some of that obvious stress.
"Well, I dunno." Your voice dipped back into a timid demeanor as you spoke. "I just figured... I made you upset, and that you didn't wanna be friends anymore."
"Of course I still want to be friends. I... wanna be there for you. If you need me, of course."
You perked up at this, a feeling of reassurement that hadn't recently been there returning to you. Letting your guard down.
"Really? Even after... after..."
"Yes."
You didn't have to finish, smiling to yourself instead before directing it towards him in thankful courtesy.
"So, how've you been?" You chirped, picking lightly at your fruit cup while awaiting to hear the next wild story he would relay from hearing Freddy tell it, or some troublemaking Darla had caused lately.
"Actually, I wanted to ask you that."
Both smiling, you poked your fork towards him in a teasing manner.
"I asked you first."
"But I wanna know more."
"Stubborn, as usual."
Sharing another laugh, you lied through your teeth, giving him the most basic and surface level knowledge of your recent hardships and achievements. Not on purpose. Just so that you wouldn't be immediately giving him something to worry about. Friends don't dump their problems onto the other right after making up, right?
Right.
You'd just hold off for now. Let him in to the fullest on a later date.
"What about you?" You finally inquired, the two of you now strolling through the semi-empty halls together. Truly catching up, which was nice for the time being.
"Bored, not gonna lie."
"Pfft-." Your snorted aloud at his answer, laughing more when he argued he was being serious with such an unserious tone.
"I'm just saying, like... Mary and Anne were on my case the second I got home last week. I'm just... we're just used to having you around, I guess."
"Yeah, that's my bad. I've just been so caught up lately with everything... School, and my family, and my boyfriend. Relationships are... so much more complicated than I thought."
A silence lingered between the two of you. Not an uncomfortable one, but it wasn't exactly the most peaceful, either. It was like your most inner thoughts and secrets just danced upon the tip of your tongue, while the very question that would pry them all out danced on his. Neither of you knowing, yet able to just feel it in the air. Expecting it.
"How is that going, by the way? I don't really see you guys together often, so I just figured you hang out outside of school?"
"Oh, I just had him last period, actually...!" You informed almost too swiftly, the lightest of defense in your tone.
"Oh, that's good...! Great."
Quiet. It wasn't intentional, not on anyone's end. But it was something that had somehow forced you to let him in anyway. Even if just the slightest.
"I guess so. He's been... quiet, recently. Like, doesn't really wanna talk."
"Oh? Why, what's going on?"
"He isn't like this all the time. But sometimes, things get to him, and he just takes it to heart, you know what I mean? Like, just yesterday I was texting him all last night and I was helping him through some things with his mental and like, how sometimes he feels like I'm being weird, but he's weird, too, and... bleaugh."
Towards the end, you had sensed you revealed a bit too much, able to feel Billy's green eyes mulling over you with hints of concern.
"All last night?" He confirmed with a slight emphasis on 'all.'
"Well-! Nothing I can't handle, just a couple of hours, really."
"Aren't you tired, though? I mean, it was a school night..."
"...A little. But it's not a big deal, I'm happy to help. Besides, like how you said you'd always be there for me... I'll be there for him."
"Right... I just-"
The scuffing of an additional pair of shoes against tile alerted the both of them, the conversation being cut short with a swiftness Billy hadn't seem coming or understood. Even more troubling, the way you had created a noticeable distance between the two of you, your foot awkwardly sliding to left the closer your boyfriend came.
"Hey, baby...!" He trailed, already eyeing up and down, side to side between you two the faster he got closer. He wouldn't be one to admit he had been listening in on your conversation long before either of the two of you realized he had entered the corridor, but the fact he had chosen now to, not only make his presence known...
"You just... telling people all our business now?"
...But to also add on such a sly little remark, masking it as an awkward joke, was something that made Billy narrow his eyes for mere seconds. He could sense the comfortable vibe decrease, listening to you stumble over your words in a much quieter tone than before.
"No! I-...No, we were just... catching up, basically. We were just talking and I was... I was just kinda asking-... Inviting-!... him to your...um... your party this weekend?"
"What, you mean tomorrow?" Billy clarified, having accidentally revealed both her initial lie and a new tidbit of information. The boyfriend let it slide, for now, swift to play it as cool as possible with Billy around by pulling you into his chest unexpectedly. Making a big show of fondly rubbing your shoulder up and down and spewing ample amounts of affection that would make anyone uncomfortable.
"Yeah... tomorrow." You softly answered, unable to continue eye contact with your best friend under the pressure of your boyfriend's. You couldn't exactly place or even begin to assume why, but it was a look that always made you squirm. At first, it seemed to disguise itself as lovesick nerves. But now it constantly came riddled with the extra thoughts of, 'Is my hair okay? Does my outfit look nice? I hope he likes the color I picked. The makeup isn't too much this time, right?' Etc, etc.
"I'm sure she's probably ran her mouth to you all day about it, but, you know (N/N)...!" He chuckled, gently shaking you upon mentioning you with a pet name. "Just talk-talk-talks."
"I guess..." Billy mumbled, unappreciative of the subtle implication while you internally took it to heart.
'...Do I talk too much?'
"But I totally get that it's not your scene, I mean... socializing, fun, hot drunk girls..."
'Am I not hot enough for him?'
You played with the ends of your newly dyed hair, debating on asking your boyfriend's favorite color as means for the next change.
"Actually, I happen to be free this weekend, so it's a good thing (Y/N) invited me now before she forgot."
"Really?" You asked, and though your tone hadn't meant to convey such hope, your eyes all but practically screamed it when you had finally gathered the courage to look back into his. A smile slowly made its start, but faltered upon hearing the same word leave your boyfriend's lips, tone all too different.
"Really...?"
One of skepticism, almost as if there was a betrayal taking place right in front of his own eyes. A tone that let you know you wouldn't be hearing the end of it later tonight.
"Yeah, I mean, we're basically best friends, so..." Billy didn't hesitate to make facts known and clear, all under the guise of a polite smile and a shrug.
"Where she goes, I go."
An awkward chuckle was shared.
"Well, lucky you..." Your boyfriend sighed with a compassion you knew was fake, parting with one last squeeze to your shoulder before heading towards the nearest exit of the hallway.
The pout on your lips never seems to leave after the interaction, resembling the same look of puzzlement you sported when Billy had first approached at the beginning of lunch. But now, it was the end, and here it was back again after Billy had done his best to absolve you of such worry. And, now that he was at least eighty percent sure of the direct cause, he'd go out of his way to make sure such feelings didn't increase on your boyfriend's behalf.
"Are you sure you actually wanna go?" You sighed. "I mean, he is right. I've never seen you at a party, ever."
"What, and you've been to how many...?"
You nodded. He made a fair point.
"I'm his girlfriend, though. I basically have to go so he can show me off and whatnot."
"Won't he have enough 'hot drunk girls' there already?"
You struggled to hide the grin at his sudden yet subtle compliment. Giving your boyfriend's harsh and clueless words a new meaning while nudging him with your shoulder as if it'd get rid of a feeling you hadn't felt in the last few weeks.
"Silly. I don't drink." You half-heartedly joked, a way of accepting his compliment before taking your leave as well.
"I'll text you the info, then, 'kay?"
"I'll be there."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
Those words ran through your mind like a broken record. They had you admiring such sureness and swooning at the thought of someone... well... being there! It was this, coupled with the fact that, even after everything, Billy truly hadn't given up on you. He wasn't so hasty to let go of your friendship, and if it weren't for your-
No. No, don't think that way. It was your own doing that led to such an outburst. Your boyfriend was going through a tough time. Even now as the two of you chatted back and forth early into the Saturday evening. To place blame on him would be wrong. Almost cruel of you.
But even so, you were beginning to grow weary with the constant contact. And normally, it wasn't something you'd mind if the usual topic of conversation wasn't something so draining. Usually, the abundance of info on family matters. How his mother and father would treat him, or how his feelings were never "put first." He even had the gall to bring up yesterday, leaving you to reassure him that Billy wouldn't cause any issues.
Hogging your attention, acting like "a loner," whatever it was the boyfriend had implied...
'Ping!'
Speak of the devil, here to rid you of your swirling thoughts.
─────────────────────
Billy😼
You there?
I'm at home still
Gonna be there in a bit
Oh mkay
Omw
Btw Freddy and Anthea are coming cuz they don't wanna be "left out"🙄
Is that okay?
Yeah sure that's fine, great actually
I'll have someone to talk to
Alr bet
─────────────────────
For whatever reason, though the conversation was short and dry, it soothed your nerves, and suddenly, you weren't as high strung anymore about possible future events and conversations. It allowed you to finally put together a reasonable outfit and do your makeup, hair the last thing on the to-do list before gathering necessities into your purse/bag and heading out.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
You were starting to wish you had packed earbuds in that little purse/bag of yours, wanting nothing more than to tune out your boyfriend's advances. Albeit a rude thought, you couldn't help but allow this one to slide considering how he was acting just as such.
And yet, you still didn't have the heart to reject the obvious signs, or at the very least, hint at the fact that his breath reeked of alcohol, which was all you needed to know in terms of why he was suddenly being so touchy-feely. Something that used to give you butterflies, now leaving you with an odd disdain with/after every rub and pinch and grasp.
"Why're you so'stiff...?" He asked (slurred, more like), running his hands across your shoulders. Without thinking, you pushed yourself further onto the bed, shrugging him away and swiftly denying his claim.
"I'm not. I just... have good posture."
"Ha-ha, babe." He tossed his head from side to side. "I'm being for real. What's the issue? Are you not relaxed? I can- We can, like, maybe lock the door or something. So no one'll walk in, y'know?"
"Why would I want the door locked?" You almost scoffed but knew better than to let any attitude slip from your person as a smirk glossed his lips subtly.
"Unless you like to play it risky, that's cool, too~."
"I don't want to play anything, I just...thought we could have a nice time together." You spoke, your voice dipping a little from the stoic demeanor to one of vulnerability as the confession flew over his head.
"We could~." He responded simply to your suggestion, having not truly taken in your words, tone, or even just body language. It took you having to snap in the slightest for him to finally understand...
"And talk. To just talk, okay? I mean, there's literally nothing you want to talk about right now? What was all of that texting about earlier that we were doing? You don't wanna talk to me about that?"
...And, as usual, he managed to take it to heart. More often and...accurately than you'd like to admit, he had managed to become the victim.
"Mncht...oh." He finally let up, sitting himself up from dipping into the bed with the click of his tongue against his teeth and turning himself away from you.
"I mean, the whole reason I threw this party was to have fun and not worry about that, so..."
"Then why bring it up?" You huffed, frustration growing in the pit of your stomach. Not even at just the current conversation, but at every interaction you've had with your boyfriend beforehand. Matter of fact, as it occurred to you, you couldn't even recall the last memory/time you'd actually been excited or content with him present, causing even more bitterness to rise the more he spoke.
"Uh, I dunno, 'cause maybe I figured my girlfriend would understand and be there for me an' shit. Like, c'mon, you're my rock, start acting like it."
"You first..."
"Huh?"
"Nothing."
Quiet followed, one that weighed you down like a heavy blanket. One that made you want to run out of the room the second you got the chance, because for whatever reason, you expected the sudden wave of guilt or maybe even some harsher words from the boy in question. Surpringly, neither came.
"Look, uh... I just don't wanna talk about it while I have you here, 'kay?"
Your brows furrowed.
That was...understanding of him. Gentle. Maybe you had misconstrued all of this. Maybe you truly were in the wrong. Maybe-
"I'm gonna get you a drink, yeah?"
"Well, actually, I don't really-"
"-Yeah, but you need one, so..." He interrupted, lifting from his spot on the bed and pressing a swift kiss to your temple. One part of you, as he slowly stalked out of the bedroom, hoped he'd forget and just take the drink for himself. But another part told you the last thing he needed was another, mainly because you didn't come here to babysit. He was right. It was a party, and you did have stress you wanted to celebrate away.
But you were finding it so difficult. After everything, literally everything, all you could do was just sit there and let your mind swirl with thought after thought after thought. Questioning everything, especially yourself, more than ever. Was it really supposed to be this way? Were these the responsibilities that came with being in a relationship? It seemed real complex, draining, even. It hadn't seemed as such from the outside, having observed the other relationships you witnessed your peers enter over time.
I mean, all you wanted was just that. Something simple. A significant other who'd be there for you and care for you and talk to you, not just about their issues, but with you about any and everything. You wanted the cute little kisses and the shy hugs and the awkward meeting of each other's parents. You wanted the cheap gifts and the creative dates, and even if it all sounded like straight-out-of-a-rom-com fantasy crap, you figured it wasn't too much to ask for...
'Ping!'
Your phone chimed once more, and you saw Billy's contact light up on the screen.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"You are making it entirely too obvious that you're obsessed with her, dude."
Slowly, Billy turned his head so that Freddy could witness his dead stare, the boy giving an unphazed shrug in response and adding a swift, "Just sayin'."
"I'm literally just trying to make sure Mary is going to the right place, okay?"
"Ooh! Why don't you ask her about the grievances with her partner?" Anthea chirped on the other side of him, leaning over to peer into his and your private chat.
"I'm sure she'd appreciate the-"
"-Trust me, she does not want me bugging her about her love life, okay? I got this."
"Oh, really? Is that why she's with some other dude and not you?" Freddy chided, and before Billy could snap back, Mary aimed her review mirror so that she, too, could deliver Freddy a stern glare.
"Dude..." She warned simply, and he hushed. With a curt sigh as she turned down into a neighborhood street, she began a semi-short lecture and some added advice.
"Look, the only reason you two are going with Billy is because I need you two to...keep the peace, per se."
"You act like I'm gonna lose my shit, oh my god." Billy huffed, Anthea and Freddy sharing quiet giggles while Mary shrugged.
"Relax, it's just a precaution. Like I said before, these things can be tricky so it's better to be safe than sorry. Besides, last thing Rosa needs is you getting into your umpteenth fight."
"Besides," Freddy started up again. "If you do decide to do whatever it is you gotta do, I want proof to laugh at later."
He raised his phone in the air, giving it a knowing shake as they pulled onto a packed street that led directly towards the house they could only assume where the party was being held.
─────────────────────
Billy😼
We're here
Why is it so packed😭
Cuz it's a party, Bill
Did u expect it to be empty?
💀
No but gosh
Why are ppl this hyped to get wasted n high
U are so cynical
I'm realistic🥱
Yeah well IM meeting you outside, so dw about trying to find me ;)
─────────────────────
You couldn't help but bite your lip in feeble attempts to hide the smile threatening to practically crack your face open. Your heart pounded, and your hands were growing clammy and jittery. The bounce of your leg made the bed shake, and it made you wonder why you were so anxious just to see Billy. He was your best friend. It should never be this serious.
Was it even anxiousness? You were smiling. But, then again...
Maybe it was because you had sent that stupid little winky face. Was that too flirty? Did you even mean it to be flirty? You were his best friend, there shouldn't be a reason for him to even take it that way. But... if he didn't, wouldn't that make you a little upset? What would be so crazy about you flirting with him? Would he hate that? Or would he hate that because it's you and you're supposed to be just friends?
Oh shit. You're supposed to be meeting him outside.
You quickly gathered your things and exited the bedroom, making your way through the crowds and towards the stairs.
"Hey...!"
Billy, as much as he tried to fight it, allowed his entire stoic and introverted demeanor to melt into lighting up at the mere sound of your voice. And then, the half-second you gave him to admire you and your outfit and your hair before running into his arms for a much needed and, for some reason, unexpected hug.
Should he even be hugging you? You had a boyfriend. Why should that even matter? It's just a hug, and you were just friends. You know what? Doesn't matter.
"You're here, you made it!" You spoke loud over the music blasting from the stereos, Billy nodding surely as he spoke.
"Told you, I'd be here!"
"You did." You barely agreed, nodding to yourself and again, fighting off a bashful smile before sending a wave Freddy's way and sparing Anthea a hug and some swift girl-talk.
For a while, this is how it stayed. The four of you off to find a semi-quiet place to talk and indulging in your own playful banters and stimulating conversations. But, at some point, Anthea remembered her mission. She was to play matchmaker, and it occurred to her that her and Freddy's presence could potentially be stifling that. So...
"Oh my goodness, I love this song!" She squealed suddenly, jumping up from her spot and grabbing Freddy by the wrist.
"I- Wha-? This song? You love this song?" Freddy questioned in a flurry of shock and surprise.
"Yes, this one! My...mother...sung it to me as a traditional, uh... lullaby in my realm. Long, long time ago- let's go dance, my love!" She sputtered quickly, leaving all three of you to tilt your heads like confused puppies.
"...You had-...Y'all listened to Ke$ha in your realm?"
"Yes!! Bye!"
Anthea practically dragged Freddy away, the two boys sharing a shrug as you giggled to yourself at such silly antics.
"They're so...perfect for each other." You sighed, watching the two fondly.
"They're aggravating." Billy huffed, but you knew he didn't mean it. The upward curve of his lips told you otherwise.
"I'm almost jealous." You chuckled, looking downwards into your lap.
"What do you mean? I'm sure the guy your with treats you like a goddess. I mean, that's common sense, right?"
"I wish." You scoffed through another, almost bitter, chuckle. "I can't even remember the last time he..."
Your words trailed away, processing Billy's words as heat rose to your cheeks.
"You think I should be treated like a goddess?"
"Uh, yeah?" Billy spoke with a tone that made you second guess the things you had been putting up with your current boyfriend. "(N/N), didn't I just say common sense?"
"Yeah, but-... I dunno, that's a little crazy, I think."
"If only you knew." Billy threw mindless words into the air, looking back towards the way Freddy's eyes were basically hearts and stars towards Anthea as she danced with him amongst other kids. Mind you, Anthea, the goddess daughter of Atlas, whom Freddy worshipped as such.
"Hm?"
But you weren't supposed to know that.
"Hm? ... oH-! Nothing, nothing. I just...you know...I-"
"-Are you... trying to say that you would...treat me like a goddess?"
Billy stared down at you, green eyes meeting your expecting (E/C) ones until he finally pushed out a curt, "Don't I already?"
"No, but if you're willing to start, I don't mind." You challenged mischievously, standing up and pointing your finger downwards. "I wish to be taken away from the loud music and the drunk teenagers! Upstairs to a much quieter, safe zone! I command it of you."
A disbelieving smile spread across his face, leaving you to try your best and ignore those mesmerizing dimples of his.
"Please."
"I am not carrying up the steps, (Y/N). What if I drop you?"
"But, you said...!" You almost whined, and before you could do so further, he held up surrendering hands and shot you another smirk.
"You're right, I did. C'mon..."
"Yay!" You squealed giddly, adjusting your clothes before jumping onto his back, fully thrilled at the added height and the way you no longer had to use your own two feet.
"Don't make me regret having said anything." He ordered sternly, but you knew him well enough to know that he had trouble remaining so pessimistic around you.
"Never that." You chirped.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
The "quieter, safe zone" consisted of the two of you finally getting to completely catch up in an empty, upstairs master bedroom. Thirty minutes deep in whatever late night conversation there was to be had by the two of you. Giggles and inside jokes were shared once again, and the playful, witty banter returned. Just like old times, although something in the air lingered differently. Neither of you could place it nor wanted to address it due to the fear of negative change.
But that was okay, because this was enough. It beat the uncomfortable feeling of your drunken boyfriend any day. A harsh thought yet again, but it couldn't be helped. Billy was just... better. Yeah, in general, but now that you've entertained the thought...
Was Billy better for you?
"What'cha thinkin' about?" Billy hummed, laying next to you with his phone in the air as he scrolled through his entertaining TikTok for you page. He paused the next video, waiting to hear you instead, until you finally flipped over on your side to give him your full face. Intern, he gave you his full attention, phone off and away, and eyes gazing into yours.
"...Can I ask you something?"
"Of course, whatever you want."
"..."
Okay, this was a lot harder than you thought. Maybe you hadn't thought this through. It was too late now, though.
"...Do you think-"
"My, my my music hits me so hard! Makes me say, "Oh my lord!" Thank you for blessing me with a mind to rhyme and two hype feet...!"
Both of your brows knitted at the same time, searching each other's eyes for the wild answer as to why you could hear Freddy's voice over the one of MC Hammer's all the way from downstairs, along with a cheering crowd.
"No way...no he didn't..." Billy murmured, unable to allow himself to move another inch while you nearly shot up from the bed in your own pure disbelief.
"Oh my god...!!" You shrieked with a nervous grin, exiting the room while Billy finally willed himself off the bed just to follow it suite.
The music continued as you two raced down the steps and back into the main area of the house, and low and behold...
"Oh, ohh, oh-oh, oh! Oh, ohh, oh-oh, oh...!"
Freddy had managed to get a crowd going with him, and granted, this was probably the best experience of his life, he would surely wake up tomorrow remembering none of it.
"I swear he had one drink and then just...vanished!" Anthea expressed, both entertained and mildly concerned.
"What are you doing?!" You yelled to him in a panic, Freddy casually pointing out to you with a lazy grin and excited laughter.
"Vibing!!"
"I'm gonna get him a water..." Anthea sighed, making her way towards the direction of the kitchen as you began to try and settle the reckless crowd down. But mainly Freddy's tipsy ass.
"Do not break anything, I swear...! I don't own this house!"
"Relax, I won't!" He scoffed, turning away to face the crowd with his crutch just barely missing a vase by a couple of inches.
"Dude...-!" Billy sighed but found it useless at that point when Freddy was already so unaware of his surroundings.
He looked down at you, you having already been looking up to him for reassurance before another nervous laugh broke out in between the two of you.
"Cmon, let's find Anne, and we can bring them back upstairs."
And though you wished you and Billy had gotten more time together, just the two of you...
"Okay, sure."
...It was probably for the best.
"Hey, (Y/N), there you are, okay, let's go...!" Anthea rushed, having already left the kitchen at such a brisk pace, it caught you off guard when she spun you around by the shoulders and was pushing you back towards where Freddy had accumulated Instagram story worthy hype.
"Wha-? Wait-"
"I'm thinking we should just...grab Freddy and go home!" She chirped, almost uncharacteristically, as she guided you along. "I think we've been here for long enough."
"Well..." You began, slowly maneuvering out of her grasp. "I can't really just leave, y'know, I have to tell-"
"Oh, don't worry about that! He was in the kitchen, I already told him that Mary's here and that she's gonna take us. It's no issue, really...!"
Upon hearing this, Billy looked back over his shoulder towards the archway that led into the kitchen, brows knitting once again as a sinking feeling settled into his chest. Something was very off, and though he wanted to trust Anthea's word...
"Okay, well, at least let me say goodbye..." You mumbled, Anthea too busy hauling Freddy out of his beloved crowd to notice it was too late to grab your hand to stop you.
"Wait...!" She called, but you were already out of sight.
"(Y/N)..."
"Hi." You smiled at Billy as he stood in between you and the archway. A naivety about you that made what he had just seen even more anger and guilt inducing. Not that he should be the one feeling guilty, but...
"Hey, um...You know, Anne's right. I think we should go, y'know?"
"That's fine." You nodded. "But I wanna say goodbye."
"Oh, don't worry." Billy smiled at you calmly, rubbing at your shoulders and ever-so gently pushing you backward. "I already told him 'bye' for you, so..."
This was beginning to grow weird. Your stomach suddenly growing bloated even though you hadn't really eaten yet, a tightness forming in your chest. Why was everyone being so pushy all of a sudden? Why was it so okay for everyone to nudge you around like this? You've already been dealing with it from your boyfriend for so long, you couldn't handle your best friends doing it too.
"Stop it, I just want to say it myself, okay?" You informed sternly, pushing Billy's hand away.
"No." He stopped you, moving back in front of you as if he were blocking you. Or... was he blocking something from you? What was he hiding from you?
"No?" You questioned in disbelief. And you didn't wait for his response before shoving past him and into the kitchen.
"Wait-!"
"Oh shit...."
As cliche as it felt, time seemed to stand still, and the noise began to fade. You actually couldn't believe it was happening, just like in the movies and TV shows and books. And yet, here it was, happening to you the moment your eyes landed on your boyfriend kissing another girl.
Your boyfriend. Kissing another girl. And he was enjoying it. He was enjoying it, and then he saw you and pushed her away like nothing. The exact same way he had been treating you. Like nothing...
"What are you...?" You couldn't even finish because you already knew exactly what he was doing. He was cheating on you, and you were starting to cry.
"(Y/N), I think we should go, now..." Anthea murmured, having joined the scene with a for-the-most-part sobered up Freddy.
You ignored. Not purposefully, of course. But you just...
"Why would you...?"
You couldn't finish that sentence, either.
"I'm-I'm sorry! I didn't even see yo- She-! She kissed me! I didn't-...!" Excuses stumbled from his lips before he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"No, no, how could you?" You faked anger, not truly having it within you to be as mad as you wanted. As pissed as you should've been. It just... wasn't there. And it was evident through the freshly dropped tears onto your cheeks as you continued to fake it anyway because he had no right to act as though he was annoyed with the circumstances. You wouldn't let him have it this time.
"I thought that you were supposed to love me? And be there for me? Why the hell are you even-? Why did you even invite me if you weren't gonna even talk to me or be with me or even- even just act like my boyfriend? Even if you didn't mean it, you couldn't just fake it for one fucking night?"
"Oh, because you've been the best girlfriend ever..."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"When I was with you earlier tonight, (Y/N), I tried to be with you. You didn't want to do shit, I mean, c'mon! You don't even drink!"
"I literally tried-! I-...What does that have to do with anything?" You cried in stammers. "How is that a good reason for you to-... to-...!"
"Being with someone and getting with someone are not synonymous. She didn't owe you any of her just because she consented to being your partner." Anthea stated factly, words you couldn't formulate in the moment perfected for you by her on your behalf.
"Look, I wouldn't expect you to understand." He spoke, addressing Anthea with condescension and an eye roll that made her sneer. "Guys... we're different, okay? We just...we have needs, and at least she's trying. What we're you doing, (Y/N)? Hanging out upstairs with him?"
He pointed to Billy, and the boy in question had half of a mind to end the argument right there on his own, more violent, terms. But for now, he wouldn't. He knew better than to act out of turn, especially given your emotional state, as much as it hurt him to see things play out this way for you.
"How do I know you weren't cheating on me, huh? Even after everything I told you about what's going on with me? My family and my worries?"
"I would never do that!" You defended. "Billy is my friend, okay? And it's not my fault that you've never been able to accept the fact that maybe he should be more than that, because he treats me ten times better than you ever could!"
You had let the words...confession?...words slip out unintentionally, but you were on a roll. A force to be reckoned with as you moved closer to your newly made ex.
"I've been there for you this entire time, but what about what I needed?! What about my needs? They were always ignored, and you were always the one ignoring them! I mean, look at you, you're not even sorry! Just mad you got caught."
"I'm-!"
"-No!" You cut. "You know what you are? A self-centered, cheating, asshole!"
*s m a c k*
And before he could even register you had slapped him and that Freddy had laughed inappropriately loud at it, you were gone. He didn't even get to see you leave the kitchen, your figure already halfway up the steps and towards the master bedroom to gather your things. At least, that's what you told yourself, until the tears kept coming, and your chest wouldn't stop rising and falling. Your throat was on fire and-
*SLAM!*
*c l i c k*
. . .
"I should rearrange the insides of your body where you stand..." Anthea cursed with half of a mind to do just that. But alas...
She was swift to urge Billy and Freddy along, quickly rushing after your path until stopping at the sound of your broken sobs.
"Oh no..." She sighed to herself, her heart aching for you as Freddy moved forward. He twisted the knob and sighed.
"It's locked."
Billy and Anthea shared a look, Freddy's forehead leaning against the wood of the door and mustering it up within himself to speak as calmly as possible.
"(N/N)? Heyyy, y'know-...I know things got...rough for you out there. But-! But maybe this is a good thing, like, if you just-!"
"Go away...!"
A pause lingered in the air, Freddy able to hear the hurt in your voice. He knew that's not truly what you wanted, to isolate yourself. And even if it was, he just didn't have the heart to let it be so. He was one of your best friends, he couldn't stand to see you like this. Hell, even just to hear it. Looking over towards his brother, he could only imagine what it was doing to him on the inside. So, for both you and Billy's sake, he tried again...
"You know I can't do that. I don't wanna leave you here, (Y/N). Please just...talk to us. We wanna help you through this."
No response this time, though he could hear you muffiling your cries away in failed attempts to not be heard.
"I don't...think she wants to come out."
"Let me try." Anthea spoke. She moved forward, replacing Freddy's position in front of the door and giving the softest of knocks.
"(Y/N)? It's Anne... I...can't possibly begin to understand the way you must feel right now. You never deserved this, and we'd just like to help you, okay? Whatever you need, just tell us, I'll make it happen."
"Go. Away." You seethed.
"...But-"
"I need you guys to go away, okay? Just leave me alone, I just..."
You didn't want to say you wanted to go home. Even though you did. It seemed a little baby-ish on your part, and regardless of the meltdown you were having, the last thing you wanted was to further embarrass yourself by acting childish. Crying over your freshly dumped boyfriend and your new, heart aching, emotional wounds was enough for tonight already.
"Please, just go away." You begged through choked sobs.
Billy couldn't take it anymore.
"Just...okay, just move. I'll sit with her, Freddy, call Mary."
"But how-"
"-Just do it, please, okay?"
The two sighed, Anthea sending a nod of good luck before leaving Billy on his own to sit on the other side of the door with his back up against it, listening to you carefully. Not that you were doing much of anything but crying, but part of you couldn't even believe it.
You wondered to yourself why the tears and emotions were even lasting this long. Although, you supposed that regardless of how laughable the relationship was, it was still your first. You had still given it your all, invested your energy and love into it. Maybe that's why it hurt so badly. All of it taken for granted, thrown away disastrously at a random house party.
God, this house.
You wanted to get out of this house.
Not that you could...
You hadn't paid much attention to the commotion outside the door, but you had loosely figured that once it'd gone quiet, the trio had obeyed your requests, leaving you on your own. Which, in hindsight, that's not what you wanted. More than anything, you needed someone to be there for you. To just be there was even enough. You needed-
"...Billy?"
He had stood the moment he heard you begin to unlock the door, taking steps back to allow you space before you opened the door to his sheepish figure.
"Hey."
You could only stare for a moment, warm tears brimming your waterline all over again until you literally couldn't stop yourself from moving forward.
"(Y/N), are you o-"
He huffed at the impact of you colliding with his chest, but recovered just fast enough to hold you as you cried some more.
"You didn't leave me..." You whined in between shallow breaths of air, gripping onto the back of his shirt as though he would in mere seconds.
But, he wouldn't. He couldn't.
"Of course not, I'd never leave you." He reassured, encouraging you to bury yourself further into him by tightening his hold.
"I'm right here, okay? And Mary'll be here soon, we're gonna take you home, 'kay?" He murmured against your temple, only for you to look up at him with big, glossy eyes and a pouted lip.
"Home?"
"Anywhere but here, but yes, home."
You laughed. He had made you laugh, even when you truly thought you couldn't.
"I-"
You stopped yourself. You were not going to say that. You knew better than to try and say something you weren't even sure you meant. Hell, you had been doing it this whole time with your ex, and you hadn't even ever told him the I.L.Y words yet. You wouldn't do that to Billy. Instead, you began to apologize.
"I'm sorry." It was a murmur at first, barely audible words before you willed yourself to speak up and be brave yet again tonight. Have some confidence, even if it was a little fake.
"I'm sorry I said those things. Earlier, when I was yelling at...that prick. I hadn't meant for it to-...It just came out, and it came out weirdly, and I don't-... I don't wanna make this awkward between us, I didn't- I'm sorry."
"It's okay. You don't have to be sorry."
"Yes, I do." You argued, even as he shook his head 'no'.
"No, you don't, (Y/N). I just... want you to mean it."
You were a little thrown off by such wording, pulling away slightly as you wiped your eyes and cheeks with the sleeve of your shirt.
"Huh?"
"(Y/N)..." He sighed, looking away for a moment as if he were putting the words together in his mind. You waited patiently, having known that he was never one for thoroughly explaining his inner emotions. He had been there for you, so, now it was your turn.
"...I want you to mean all of that stuff you said because I just... I love being your best friend, it's... You're amazing. But I've kind of always thought us being... more than that would be even better. But I didn't wanna ruin a good thing, so I just...I just decided I'd be there for you for everything else, even if it meant you... not being with me and with someone else."
"Billy-"
"-And I know...! I know it doesn't really matter what I want at the end of the day, because again, I'm just here for you. But... when you got with that doucebag, I just...I didn't not want you with him. I just didn't want you the way you were with him. I never have. I don't want some version of you that's toned down and trying to be a certain way for anybody, including me. I mean, all I've ever wanted was you. I only want you, (Y/N)."
You didn't know what to say. What could you say? I mean, you could think. But all that would run through your mind was, 'How could I be so stupid and blind?'.
It was here that you knew that you would be completely sure... that you meant it when you told him-
"I love you."
And while yes, you blurted it out fast and awkwardly, you still knew that it was true.
Billy smiled because he did, too.
"I love you, too."
And there you were again, back in the safety and comfort of his arms, but this time, with his lips planted on yours in a kiss that actually felt like fireworks. The way it was supposed to feel, gentle, and full of love and care. Soft, yet eager, with no intention to take it further than you wanted it to go. Breaking the kiss in order to breathe properly, you could finally see the way Freddy had looked at Anthea all of this time while Billy gazed down at you.
With stars and hearts in his eyes.

I hope this was good!! I know it's a bit long, but I have no self control, no one's here to tell when to stop. So. I don't🥴.
Also, I apologize for my long hiatuses. I feel like it's a curse, for fanfic writers, to be going thru the most wicked shit when all we wanna do is write our silly little stuff😭.
But I promise, I'll try to keep more consistent because I love doing this!

I...
🥴💀
I'm sorry I haven't been as active (writing wise). I've just been struggling with both motivation and inspiration, BUT, special thanks to Moon for literally keeping this account alive and thrivin' while I sink further and deeper into my delusions😻✨️🫶🏽.
I will try my very best to finish up some requests because there's some sitting in my inbox with amazing plots that OFC I adore, but again, my brain is...bleuagh ;-;.
So anyhow, here's something I wrote on my wattpad a while back to hold y'all over, I hope :)♡.

"Will you shut up?! I'm going...!"
Booming thunder almost drowned out the sounds of your vexed shouts, heavy rain causing you to flip the hood of your jacket up swiftly before scanning the area outside of your house. There weren't any cars passing by or people walking down the sidewalk, and for good reason. Not to mention, it was freezing cold, and you hadn't even been out more than a couple of seconds. It made you wonder how your pet could bare to withstand the awful weather long enough to not come running back inside on their own.
"(Pet's Name)!!" You called, practically having to shriek just to be heard from where you stood. "Come on, where are you?! Get in the house, I don't have time for this!!"
You huffed when your pet was nowhere to be spotted at the call of their name, and at the fact that you were slowly becoming drenched in the cold, rain water. Upon looking back towards your front door, you could see your sibling looking back at you with a determined glare, clearly a lot more worried about the animal's whereabouts and safety than you were. You knew they would probably make their way back on their own, but you also knew your younger sibling was bound to throw a fit if you didn't at least try, so...
"(P/N), get your ass in the house...!!!"
A flash of lightning blinding you momentarily, and another crack of thunder soon after, startled you. It seemed to have the same effect on your animal companion as well, the outline of its figure suddenly flying past your feet and into the house. But, not without knocking you onto your butt in the process, of course.
"(P/N)~!" Your sibling cooed graciously, inviting the animal into their arms with love and care before shutting the door. Your brows furrowed, and yet you couldn't even find the energy within you to be irritated. It was late, you were tired, drenched in rain water and mud...
"Dammit..." You groaned, as you moved to stand. If you sat here any longer, you'd surely catch a cold. Not to mention (having underestimated the severity of the storm), you were left with little protection. A thin jacket, your pajamas, not even any glov-
At almost light speed, you yanked your hand away at the sensation of something slimy under your hand. A sound of disgust left your mouth, head quickly whipping downwards to focus your gaze on the culprit. You prayed it wasn't a bug or some type of water-creature, and then left pleasantly surprised to see it was just a small, plastic baggy.
One could even say a little underwhelmed, your harsh, wide-eyed gaze softening once your disgust had cleared. Upon further inspection, you had begun to notice an odd shine under the plastic. Gold and small, reflecting against the mix of streetlight, rain water, and occasional lightning that piqued your interest beside your better judgments.
But, as the downpour began to grow heavier than before, you settled for internal compromise. You snatched the bag and stood up fully, turning to make a mad dash back to the safety and warmth of indoors. With a slam of the front door, you'd soon shower and dry, clean your room, and finish any schoolwork due the next day before dedicating the rest of your time to inspecting your newfound trinket.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Do you know what I think it is?" Your interest heightened at the red-head's words, your head turning away from your open locker to face him.
"Hm?"
"A warped piece of metal with no significance to anyone or anything?" His twin had suggested, leaving you to huff and narrow your eyes at the boy sporting his signature leather jacket. You had half of a mind to snatch your "warped piece of metal" away from him in attempts to prove both of the Breyers otherwise.
"Well, yeah." Burke agreed with a teasing smirk. "But also, a huge waste of your night spent drooling over it like a lunatic."
"Mncht. You guys are assholes, you know that?" You chastised with the click of your tongue, shaking your head as you finally yanked it away from in between his fingers. "I'm starting to wonder why I even hang out with you two."
The twins shared a knowing glance, looking back to you with answers you didn't have the strength to combat.
"We give you rides to school." Brett began, Burke next with another example until they were speaking in tandem.
"We pay for all of your food."
"We keep other assholes away from you."
"And we'll mess you up if you don't do our work."
You huffed, your eyebrows jumping with at their words.
"Oh, yeah. Right..."
As odd as the... situation-ship... started between you and the Breyers, you were starting to ponder if it was even worth it. The only reason they lingered around you in the first place was because of a deal you three struck months and months ago...
In the simplest of terms, you did their homework, no questions asked. And in return, they'd keep lesser-known bullies off of your back and, occasionally, throw money in your face to pay for certain luxuries you couldn't afford yourself.
At first, the deal remained strictly buisness. Hell, Brett and Burke still finding loopholes in order to get away with treating you like dirt without "voiding their contract." But after a while, they began to lightly tolerate your company, and you, theirs. Unlikely acquaintances, regardless of how idiotic they proved to be every single school day.
"Whatever, (Y/N), just don't let it affect your "flow," if you catch my drift." Brett sneered, knocking his shoulder into yours. Albeit, not as harsh as he would the normal Fawcett Central populous, but still rough enough to catch you off guard. The tiny, circular metal flew from your hands, rolling amongst the shuffling feet of other students rushing to their classes while you gave chase, mumbling to yourself in urgency.
"No, no, no, I can't lose it..."
It only seemed to listen to your quiet pleas at the expense of a foot in its way, your brows furrowing at the sight of worn out, faded blue Converse. When your head had managed to angle its way upwards, you were met with the confused, downward gaze of a boy your age. Striking green eyes looked into your (E/C) ones, leaving you to shuffle back awkwardly until your head bumped against the lockers.
"Oww..."
"The hell...?"
You began to stand, rubbing the back of your head with an open palm to sooth yourself while you spewed out your set of excuses.
"Sorry, I'm sorry. I just- I dropped something and I was trying to get it, and like- Yeah, so I- ... It's..."
With the boy staring at you as though you were a bother (you were), you gave up with an explanation and simply pointed in the direction of his shoe. He followed your index finger, eyes landing on a copper piece of-
"Oh shit..."
He thought there was no way this was real, no way this could be true. He didn't believe in fate, but upon bending over to pick up the metal at his foot, he was genuinely starting to believe. Had it really come back to him after all of this time?
A whole year later, after he and his brother had finally accepted its permanent disappearance? Hell, he would've thought the sewers washed it away into the Bermuda Triangle by now.
"Yeah, that!" And before he could give it proper inspection in order to fully believe his eyes, you whisked it away from him and back into your possession with a giddy smile.
"Thank you!" You chirped with a polite grin, turning to continue about your day.
The moment he had realized you were about to take your leave, he was hit with a quick decision to make...
Take a chance and hope to the gods that piece of crushed metal in your hand was what he thought it was. Get it back and surprise his brother with the prized possession he had so clumsily dropped down a sewer drain forever ago. Or, allow you to walk away out of his life forever, bullet in hand, and never knowing if he had the chance to rekindle a bond between his super-obssseed brother and smushed metal.
"Hey, wait..." He started, shutting his locker while gaining your attention. You almost didn't stop, the embarrassment of practically crawling at his feet making you internally cringe at the thought of having to engage with him again. Maybe it would be to tell you off on how weird you were being, or... who knew.
"What is that?"
'Oh?'
"Oh! I... I actually don't really know, but it looks cool, doesn't it?" You chuckled, the boy's interest pleasantly surprising as you wandered back towards him. You held up the metal between your thumb and index finger, allowing him to have a close look.
"Where'd you get it?"
"I found it." Was your technical answer. "Outside of my house, washed in the curb. I was looking for my pet 'cause they got out and, when they ran back in, I-"
"Can I have it?"
His blunt request caught you by surprise. In the middle of your story, no less. Then again, you wouldn't be surprised if he was growing irritated with your rambling, simply interested only in your weird little find.
Your brows furrowed. If that was the case-
"Wh- No. It's mine, I'm not just gonna give it to you."
There was an awkward silence that loomed over the two of you, the halls growing empty with only a few stragglers left behind. The boy in front of you was beginning to become unsure of himself, but the thought of Freddy's smiling face urged him to try again, simpler this time. Backing up his request with a bit of context.
"Sorry, I just-... My name is Billy."
You stared at his outstretched hand with hesitance, ignoring your acumen as you accepted the handshake.
"(Y/N)." You informed, and Billy gave a small nod.
"Okay, (Y/N)... Um, I know this is gonna sound super weird, but that thing you have? I'm, like, ninety-eight percent sure it's a bullet that I-... Well, my brother owned a long time ago, which I stupidly lost, so yeah. Crazy, right?"
Your immediate response to such a tale was to let out a stiff chuckle, removing your hand from his in a flash.
"Are you... serious right now?"
"I know, it's-... I could prove it to you, I mean... Okay, in the bag, right? There was also this little certificate thingy, and if you have it, I could-"
"-I don't." You interuppted, completely flabbergasted by the forwardness Billy was presenting. And you thought you were weird, crawling at people's feet on the dirty school floor for a piece of junk. But it was your junk, and clearly, it wasn't any worse than some random trying to lie and take it from you with some elaborate, intracte fib. That was weird. And, in a moment of hypocrisy, you had begun to let him know such.
"And even if I did, I'm still not giving it to you because I don't even know you."
"I just told you my name!" Billy exclaimed in surprise, you raising your arms swiftly just to drop them against your sides.
"So? Just 'cause you introduced yourself still doesn't make you not a stranger. I'm not giving this to you."
"Oh my gosh, no... please..." He sighed to himself, realizing he was practically going to have to degrade himself in order to convince you. He was never fond of asking others for help, especially if he didn't know them prior. So, you could only imagine how one Billy Batson felt about begging...
"It's... Like I said, it was my brother's, and I lost it, which is kind of a bad move on my part. I just really need it back, okay? It's super important to me."
You huffed, taking a large step back to create distance between the two of you while curling the supposed "bullet" into your palm, closing your fist and letting sass fly from your mouth.
"Dude, why would this piece of junk be important to you? Do you hear yourself right now? Because you sound insane."
Were the Breyers starting to rub off on you?
"Like, seriously. Do you just... what, spend your free time collecting small trash from random people? 'Cause that'd be kind of pathetic."
. . .Nah.
"Well, if you think it's "trash," then why do you wanna keep it so bad?" Billy countered with an equal amput of attitude, throwing his hand towards you as a small gesture of, 'You're being a hypocrite.'
Which, you were. But-
"What's so wrong with giving away what you don't even need?"
"Because...!" You started, but soon realized you had nothing to back up your greediness before shrugging to yourself and simplifying, regressing, your mindset.
"Finder's keepers, loser's weepers."
"Oh, come on...!" He groaned while you giggled, watching as he inhaled deeply, as if to suck up his pride before he slowly dropped to his knees. The sudden action caused heat to rise to your cheeks, and though there were hardly anyone else left in the halls at the moment, you still looked around in hopes they wouldn't catch a glance of the embarrassing scene before you.
"Dude, sto- What're you doing? Get up, you're emba-"
"-That's not even fair, I literally thought I'd never see it again! It's got so much sentimental value, and I can promise you that it's worth basically nothing. I'm begging you, can I please just have the bullet."
"No!" You sighed, exasperated. You urged the boy to get up off of the ground, but soon found you could simply just exit the conversation altogether. With that, you swiveled on your heal and began the trek to your classroom, a breath you didn't realize you were holding in your chest falling out of your lips in vexation when you heard the scuff of Billy's shoes chase after you.
You didn't alter your pace or try to lose him in any way, strolling onwards in the hopes he'd realize he would be late for class as well and eventually go away.
"I'll pay you."
"Whaaat..." You spoke flatly, not even asking because you were too entertained by such an offer. And to think, earlier today, you had two boys telling you how useless your metal was. Now, you have a boy willing to pay for it, a whopping amount of-
Of...
"...How much?" You found yourself entertaining his claim, just for the fun of it, Billy pulling his wallet from his back pocket while he spoke.
"All I have."
The two of you watched as he opened up the beat up, brown leather, all that was left to flutter out was a couple of dollars and loose change.
"Boy, please..."
His eyes traveled between your dissapearing figure and his scattered change, calling out to you with one last hope.
"I'll have more tomorrow...!"
"I thought you said it was priceless!" You shot back, looking over your shoulder while his lips fell open, words he hadn't formed yet struggling to push their way out of his throat until he gave it up with a shrug.
"I lied."
"Goodbye, Billy!"
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Oh my shit, it is a bullet..." You murmured to yourself, peering through the lens of a magnifying glass down at the chunk of metal sitting on your desk. Under the light and with close-up inspection, that boy from earlier had proved himself right, but it only furthered your incentive to keep it.
One, because it was kind of cool, in a nerdy, geeky sort of way.
And two, because of the question that loomed in the back of your mind; Why would a bullet have washed up right outside of your house? You supposed an answer to that was quite easily feasible, Philadelphia not the most peaceful city in the USA. But that simply begged another inquiry.
Why would some crushed up bullet be so important? Important enough to be found in a plastic bag. Important enough for someone to try and buy it off of you.
You raised from your chair, stalking over towards your trashcan and digging through it until you found what it was you were looking for. You eventually pulled out that familiar baggy, waltzing back towards the desk and sticking it under the light from the lamp next to the bullet. Sure enough, now that you could actually see it, you found that there was a small paper card bonded with the plastic due to he rain water. It was dried now, the print smeared and hard to make out.
But, it didn't take much time for you to put together that it was a certificate of authenticity. Not only that, but you were able to see what used to have been a signature, likely from someone of importance, along with the name of whoever owned it.
"D...'D' 'Y'...Eddy?... Free...man...Eddy Freeman?" You sounded out, and all you could think about in the moment was how far away from 'Billy Batson' that name was.
"That kid was for real trying to hustle me." You scoffed with a laugh, shaking your head as you gently pried the card from the bag. Some of the print was still stuck to the plastic, but it didn't matter to you much. You could still make it out on the card, not to mention, you had the bullet itself. You could either keep for treasure or sell it.
'Ping!'
A notification popped up on your phone, your eyes twinkling in thought as you read the contact name.
'Breyer Idiots'
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Dude, just let it go." You sighed, shutting your locker closed and pushing away Billy's hand that held an almost suspicious amount of money.
"I'm not giving it to you."
"Why not?" He practically whined, following after you as you walked into the lunch room, books and lunch bag in hand. "I'll do whatever you want, seriously! I know we can strike some sort of deal here, if you just-"
"Stop groveling, Billy. It's not cute~." You tutted with a teasing, sing-song tone, and then suddenly dropping your voice an octave and narrowing your eyes. "It's annoying."
You went on, avoiding eye contact while you sat, and huffing to yourself when Billy sat beside you.
"Besides, I couldn't give it to you if I wanted."
"(Y/N)-"
"-I sold it."
Billy's green eyes widened at your swift confession, going slack-jawed for mere seconds before shooting you a distressed hiss.
"You what?! Why?! Oh my go- Why would you do that?"
"So that you'd leave me alone." You spoke as though your reasoning were obvious, ignoring Billy's intense glare while you sipped at a Coke.
"Well...?!"
"What?!" You sassed, making eye contact with the pestering teen since the two of you had first sat down.
"Who'd you sell it to?!"
You paused. You hadn't been prepared for that question, although it should've been the obvious next inquiry from him. The truth was, you did try to sell it. It just... didn't fall through has planned...
"Burke."
"Who?" He encouraged to speak up, unable to hear your meek response that you were quick to change up once you realized he hadn't heard you.
"Brett."
Another bout of silence, Billy's brows knitting together, pondering the name until it clicked and his heart stopped.
"No..."
"Them." You confirmed, pointing out the fraternal twins who had just entered the cafeteria, greeting their group of friends loudly and obnoxiously while Billy sank further in his seat, relishing in the crisis you had put him in.
"No, you didn't."
"I needed the money!" You attempted to justify.
"You did not..." He murmured to himself, still stuck in complete disbelief. There was no way, he thought. But the look of resolve written across your face made it clear that you were a really good liar meant your claim.
"So, let me get this straight..."
"Billy, please just let it go..." You whined, tossing your head back while he berated you as calmly as he could.
"...You'll sell to those two asshats. But you wouldn't sell it to me? Are you for real?"
"I didn't, and still don't, know you. Obviously, I trusted them more than you."
"You trust them more than me?!"
"I do, actually, yes." You nodded curtly, and you had to admit, it was technically truth. Though you weren't fond of the two, the twins had yet to betray your trust as far as your deal went. And Billy? He had already lied twice in the two days you've barely known him.
"H-!"
"Oh, what?! Okay, c'mon, is this payback 'cause of what went down with Anne? Ditching me for a girl?"
The boisterous voice had startled the both of you, the two of you jumping and then heating up under the stares of those around who were annoyed with the boy's shouts.
"That's not... what this is." Billy muttered, the boy ignoring as he plopped himself down right in between the two of you, curls bouncing with before sparing you a wide grin.
"Ah, so then you're just new here." Was his next conclusion, Billy shaking his head while pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Freddy, no... She's-"
"Flight or invisibility?" He interjected again. You were swift to gather the fact that he was the more... talkative one of the pair, as well as learning his name. Freddy. It definitely suited him.
"Please don't do this right now." Billy sighed, looking away as if he were suddenly regretting the choice to be seen with his friend.
"What? I have to test her, it's personal code." Freddy informed.
"It's annoying."
"You're annoying."
"Invisibility." Was your final answer, having given his interesting question much more thought than you should have. Freddy smiled at this, happy to be entertained and entertaining, throwing a hand towards you in praise.
"Ah, see? Everybody chooses-. . ." He stopped. His sure grin phasing into one of bewilderment, having never received the latter as an answer to his question. "M'wait, what?"
He watched as you nodded. As though the answer was obvious while he patiently awaited your explanation. It was the first time he had gotten anything different other than a look of irritation or the immediate departure away from his person.
"Yeah, 'cause-"
"-We don't have time for this!" Billy exclaimed. So much for your why. "Freddy, she's not new. This is the girl I was telling you about last night. She's-"
"Oh-hoh, shit, you have my bullet!" Freddy nodded, finally grasping onto your identity while your brows furrowed, and you leaned over to direct your words towards Billy.
"You told your brother about me?"
"Well, not anymore..." Billy huffed, not even answering your question, but responding to Freddy's excited remark on his long-lost prized possession.
"I sold it." You finished, calmly taking another sip of your soda in order to avoid the incoming calamity.
"You did not!!"
"That's what I said. And get this: She sold it to the Brey-aH!"
You kicked at Billy's shin, stopping him from finishing his sentence. You were beginning to realize you were digging yourself a deeper hole than need be, and as fun as it was to mess with them and as hopeful as you were for them to leave you alone, it was time you admitted the truth.
"...How would you get it back, anyways? Billy only has three dollars, so I can only imagine how little you have."
Unfortunately, curiosity got the better of you. You just had to know, didn't you?
"I have my ways." Freddy muttered smugly, Billy shooting him a look that could be read as, 'Hush'. Maybe they were hiding something, a huge secret that only the two of them could know. But you had no interest in that, listening as Freddy went on.
"Plus, I'm literally the certified owner. I don't care if it makes me seem desperate, but I have the triple B on speed dial, ensuring I will get my shit back one way or another."
You pursed your lips up, undoing so just as fast before asking, "The triple B?"
"The Better Buisness Bureau."
You nodded slowly. Thought you didn't want to acknowledge it, the thought of getting into any minor legal trouble over some metal was concerning. Not by much, but just enough to question if you should really keep messing around. And though you had recalled the name on the card, "Eddy Freeman," you had to admit it was pretty...
No.
Really, coincidentally close to "Freddy."
"Fine!" You burst, startling the boys on either side of you. "Fine-fine-fine. I...uhm... You're gonna laugh when I tell you this..."
"(Y/N)..." Billy started, narrowing his eyes towards you.
"No, no, really! It's hilarious, actually." You further assured, taking one last sip in order to force down the lump in your throat.
". . .I never sold it. They didn't want it, so...I kept it."
Freddy's mouth widened into a smile, voice crack-y laughs escaping his throat in pure relief and excitement while Billy's expression remained the exact opposite. A deadpanned stare into your soul as he scoffed, his eyes then rolling before he snatched his tray off of the table and made his way out of the cafeteria.
"Goodbye, (Y/N)."
"Pfft- This is crazy, I can't believe you've had it this whole time!"
You shrugged.
"Well, I didn't just wanna give it to Billy. I didn't know if he was telling the truth or not. And I still don't even really trust you, I mean... what's your full name?"
"Freddy Freeman. I will literally pull out my birth certificate and prove it to you."
'Oh.'
". . .Do you just...carry that around, or?"
"Give...!" And right as he reached for your backpack eagerly, you pulled it away and set it into the chair that Billy had just left.
"I don't have it on me!" You exclaimed. "I left it at home. You're gonna have to wait."
"Or," Freddy began to suggest, impatientness clouding his better judgment. "You could grab it after school and then bring it over to my house. And! ... I'll tell you how I got it and where it came from once you're over so that the trip won't be for nothing."
You gave his offer genuine thought, weighing the options in your head while your eyes began to wander around the lunch room. You had noticed how eery the vibe had become, not because of Freddy, but because of everyone else looking at him. Maybe it was because of his natural, loud-talking ways. Or maybe it was because the Breyers had inevitably caught notice of your time being spent with their main target rather than with them.
Or, more accurately, sitting with them in order to do their extra work while they made you the butt of the joke every four seconds to their peers. With that in mind, you had noticed how you actually felt more at peace with Freddy, and even Billy before he left, regardless of the stares. And... if this was what it was like to have people who were actually willing to converse with you outside of some one-sided deal, then maybe it was time for a change.
"You'd... You'd do that? Even after all of the crap I've put you through to get it back? And after I lied?"
Freddy shrugged.
"You were just being protective of your find, I mean, trust me, I get it. Superhero stuff is cool and rare. I'd lie about it, too."
You smiled to yourself, allowing it to grow when the boy nudged you gently. Once you nudged him back, a realization dawned on you when you looked back towards the empty seat, your backpack sat where Billy used to be seated.
"I still have to apologize to your brother. He was begging me for two days straight just so he could make you happy. I feel kinda bad..."
"Agh, he'll get over it. The way he talked about you last night, it sounded like he was talking about a friend rather than someone treating him like...like..."
Both of your gazes shifted towards the Breyer twins, and though their harsh and plotting stares had subsided, the sinking feeling still sat in both of your chests.
"Like those two butt-clowns."
"Pfft-! Yeah, I... I know exactly what you mean."
Freddy sighed with a nod but was quick to change subjects in hopes of solidifying your friendship.
"So, invisibility. Why?"
You smiled, eagerly sharing your thoughts with the notion that you would definitely be exchanging Brett and Burke out for Billy and Freddy. No more homework and, finally, some real friends.

I may or may not make a part two, but like... not right away, cuz I'm sure y'all want me to get on them requests that y'all have ASAP no Rocky, sooo🥴.
Let me get on that🫡.
I hope you guys enjoy this, though!

I'm just gonna do these in the order you requested them in, so starting off first with...
Billy -
He... doesn't hate it, but he doesn't really enjoy it either. It's one of those things where if he says no, you just have to accept it. There's no convincing him. But, if he's all like, "Mmm..." "Aahh..." "I dunno" "Wellll..." then definitely go for it.
Bother, pester, and beg him, and he'll eventually fold. He has limits, still, though. He won't let you do full face, none of that foundation, primer, no. None of that shit.
The most he'll let you do is some eyeliner, maybe mess with/shape his brows a bit, some gloss... little things like that. But it's all good because he's got a pretty face anyways, so more often than not, it's just a fun activity to do that keeps you busy and allows the two of you to spend time with each other.
Not to mention, (if he let's you) bold eyeliner looks really bring out that inner emo he denies he has.
(Like, sir, you literally were this🤏🏽 close to emo hair in the first movie, I don't wanna hear it🙄✋🏽). Speaking of hair, he'll actually let you tie it up if it's in the way. He doesn't like to inconvenience you, and the last thing he wants is you messing up his face, trying to "yassify" him.
Anyways, he likes to deny how pretty it makes him look and why it "takes so long" to be over with, and complain about how the "poking and proding hurts"...
Set his ass in front of the mirror and peep how fast the boy goes quiet and just s t a r e s at himself lmao.
He won't admit it, but he does think your work is very pretty😙✨️.
Plus, on the occasions where you finally get to convince him, a lot of the times, you'll straddle his waist and he just gets to hold you and focus on all of your already beautiful features while you spruce him up, and he enjoys it a lot because you never seem to notice nor try to hide yourself.
Gets very flustered very fast when you get super close to his face (often to do brows, liner, and/or mascara). Like, literally panics. Should he touch/hold your face (lovingly)? Compliment you? Kiss you? So many options, but he never goes through with them unless you initiate😭. But it works out well because you can usually tell.
Aka, Billy is doing puppy eyes without realizing it, and it's making you laugh and unable to focus🥴🫶🏽.
4.5 times out of 10, he'll let you put makeup on.

Freddy -
It's not his MOST favorite activity ever either, but he's a lot more tolerable of it than Billy is.
I'm talking, the boy will let you go ahead and do full face, BUT ONLY if he gets to stay in the comfort of his own room. Otherwise, it's just a couple of things he's willing to show off to anyone other than you or the mirror/camera.
Like mascara! He actually likes the way it makes his eyelashes look, he says it reminds him of how spiders look (you always remind him how that's not the point/goal but he ain't listening lmao).
He hates wearing any type of lipstick or gloss. He doesn't like the greasy, slippery feeling and he'll just lick it all off anyways, even if it does taste good. Lip plumper is a solid no-no, that shit burns and he'll deadass cry. The most he'll do is chapstick bc he doesn't like the feeling of chapped lips either.
Lovesss having his brows done (almost therapeutic), and he enjoys the way eyeliner looks. Lined neatly, though, not smudged. Billy's the one who's more into the smudgey stuff, not the perfect wings (emo🫵🏽!!).
It doesn't take much to convince him to do his makeup, but he's squirmy and doesn't sit still for very long, so regardless of compliance, it's still a whole task/chore fr. Again, straddling him is a good way to keep him in place, but that won't stop him from constantly trying to peer over and around you, look at his phone, shake hair out of his face (bc god forbid you tie it up🙄), all things that be ruining your work mid-way through.
No matter what you do, though, he always loves your work. Finds specific things to compliment and makes notes on what actually enhances his features and what doesn't. Super into it, more than likely because of the artist in him (I know we all saw his sketchbook in the movie, don't cap).
I wouldn't be surprised if Freddy would be cool with you actually painting his face and giving him wild looks. Would probably prefer that over you trying to yassify him and make him a pretty-boy (not to say that he alr isn't one, but ykwim).
7 times out of 10, Freddy will let you do his makeup.

If I had gone on any longer for either of them, I would've started writing FRfr🤭. But I hope you enjoyed what's written right here💕.

Hi! I saw that you write for Jon, Damian and Billy and decided to take this opportunity to request an imagine-
So basically Reader is wonder woman's daughter and her, Jon and Damian are best friends and form some kind of "Mini Trinity". The boys notice she's been busier a lot more lately and find out its because she's dating someone which is where Billy comes in. This part might be a bit ooc so feel free to ignore it! Damian and Jon ask to meet Billy and Damian is putting on his best "Hurt her and I'll go after you" attitude on while Jon is more on the nicer side but still a bit protective. tysm in advance 💞
OMGOMG I love this idea sm you don't even know!! I already know writing this is gonna be fun for me >:D
Spoiler Alert: This was very fun writing for me😼.

Batson and The Bat's Son

Prompt: You should've known you wouldn't have been able to hide it for as long as you wanted. You were lucky you had gotten away with it for this long. Of course, it's not that you didn't want to tell your best friends that you had a significant other. It was... just a lot harder when those friends were overprotective guys, and also literally the sons of Superman and Batman. But like, especially Batman...
Timeline: Post S!:FOTG
TW/Content: Damian being...himself⚡️Tension (both good and bad)⚡️Slight bits of angst, maybe??⚡️Billy loving you so so much⚡️Martian Manhunter cameo😱?!?!
Reader: Fem! She/Her/Hers Pronouns! Wonder Woman's Daughter!

"Valkyrie."
"Great Hera...!" You gasped at the montoned demand of your superhero name, jumping and whipping around faster than you could put away your glasses. But upon realizing it was only the infamous Boy Wonder, you relaxed. Letting out a huff and bringing the crucial part of your disguise back into view, you wanted nothing more than to land a blow worthy of launching him across the street onto his chest, but didn't, seeing as you had scoldings to deliver and your questions answered immediately first.
"I've told you time and time again not to do that, Damian! You wander this earth like a ghost, and I scare too easy for you to just...appear behind me like that!"
"I'm surprised you were alarmed at all. I would have assumed you'd known that I was with you the whole time."
Your eyes narrowed, and you pointed an accusing finger. "With me..." You mocked. "You mean you were following me."
"There would be no need for me to do such a thing if you weren't vanishing so often."
Your (E/C) eyes rolled, never once leaving the side of the alley wall. You ignored his words, arms crossing over your chest before your head lolled upwards towards the sky.
"I suppose Jon is here as well."
No response, not that you needed one at this point considering the circumstances.
"Listening in right now." You added matter of factly. "You can come down now, I know you're at least a mile away."
As if on cue, a loud booming sound went thundering overhead, like a canon being let off until Superboy himself came landing right in between the two of you. The gravel shook and cracked at his entrance, completely opposite to his awkward and smiley demeanor the moment his blue eyes focused on your pursed lips and knowing glare.
"...Hi."
"Hello, Jon." You greeted flatly before addressing the both of them. "What are you two doing here? Why are you following me?"
"There needn't be any reason for us to do so if you weren't sneaking around. The question now becomes: What are you hiding?"
"Nothing!" You hissed, trying your hardest to ignore the guilt panging in your chest at his words. "I'm not hiding anything, there's nothing to hide. I'm just-"
"-Avoiding us?"
Another tug at your heartstrings, the gleaming look in Jon's eyes hoping that what he had suggested wasn't truth. It surprised you that the boy would even think such a thing, you quickly expressing this with a swift shake of the head and more excuses.
"What? No! No, no, I'm not...avoiding you. Either of you. I'd never do that. You're two of my closest friends ever, I'm just-"
"-So you're hiding something."
"Damian...!" You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose at his second of the same accusation. And yet, you had no words to truly defend yourself. Hell, you couldn't even deny it! You weren't hiding something. You were hiding someone. But, just as quickly as you realized this, you had also come to the conclusion that they didn't have to know that. Your little secret could still remain just that. A secret.
"Yes, yes, I am. . . hiding something."
"Like what?" Jon pushed, already hovering circles around you in optimism. "Like a surprise type of something?!"
"Don't be naive, Jonathan. If that were the case, I would've found out sooner, and I'd know what it is already."
You giggled at their difference in personality, throwing out a quip of your own in hopes to de-escalate the situation.
"Well, know-it-all, it's good thing it's not a surprise something."
"Don't act as though you're off the hook." He responded curtly. "We're still standing in a desolate alleyway in the heart of Metropolis with no reason as to why, other than you're hiding..."
Flicking his wrist in your direction, he prompted a response from you that you were struggling to come up with. Their expecting gaze wasn't helping, and it left you to awkwardly fiddle with the arms of your glasses until you meekly let out a pathetic, "...Something."
"Something like what, though?" Jon egged further, to which Damian shook his head in dismay.
"More like who. 'Two of my closest best friends'?" He quoted words you hadn't even remembered you said, throwing more of his deductions into your face like this was a game of Clue. And goodness knows, at this rate, he was going to win.
"Two out of who, (Y/N)? Not to highlight your lack of social skills, but the only person you have to consider a friend would be Jon."
Jon coughed, rather harshly, in Damian's direction before he sighed and quickly grumbled, "And I as well, I suppose."
"Uh, rude." Was your only comment at first. Though you were not yet ready to admit defeat, a sigh escaped your lips and you came forward with the most honest demeanor you could throw on, looking into the green eyes of Damian behind his mask and then the blue ones of Jon.
"Look, you two are my best friends in this entire realm, okay? Nothing will ever change that, and I swear, there isn't anyone else."
There was a looming silence, and though Jon was satisfied with your expression of care by showing you another smile, Damian had decided on the more...intense route.
"Do you put that on your mother's life?"
"Dude..." Jon sighed. "C'mon..."
And before you could answer, the sound of metal clanking together immediately threw the trio of you into defense. Jon's eyes glowed a neon red while the 'slinth' sound of a katana being ripped from its case was heard, Damian aiming the pointed end towards the loud noise. And before you could even begin to put your mother's Lasso of Truth to good use, your face went deadpanned and you wanted nothing more than to slap the culprit who was struggling to put the two trashcans back in their places.
"Besides him..." You added to your last set of words, lowering your guard and urging the other two boys to do the same.
"Stand down, it's just..."
"Oh! Oh, (Y/N)! I did not at all see you there; Why aren't you in your disguise, wh-? ... Uh..." The man in glowing red and gold slowed both his actions and his words, his excited face shifting into one of confusion at your unexpected company.
"So, is this what you were unwilling to disclose?" Damian further pressed. "If a partnership outside of us was something you were searching for, I'm sure there were more...suitable... members of the league for you to choose from. Better yet, I can make a phone call, and you'd be allowed to choose."
With your heartbeat increasing at the predicament you had so recklessly caught yourself in, you wanted nothing more than to crawl into a pit and wither away. But, you had to keep level-headed. If you didn't, things would go very wrong in a matter of seconds. You didn't want that for your best friends, or...
"I'm sure you could, Robin, but I chose him. He's perfectly suitable for me, and shouldn't that be all that matters?"
He cocked a brow, further testing both your patience and your judgment while Jon was simply happy to learn that you've made a new friend.
"When did you guys meet?" He began to hover circles around the man dressed in lightning themed Greek wear. "I don't even think I've seen him around Metropolis before."
"I-...Well, yeah," he went to answer for himself. "That's 'cause all the cool stuff happens right here in Philly. You know... wizards...and dragons and such."
"You fought a dragon?!"
"Yeah, I've fought a dragon!" The super exclaimed enthusiastically. "It was made out of wood and spewed blue fire. It was awesome!"
Both you and Damian gave an eyeroll, his of unamusment while you were quick to state one less cool fact about the whole ordeal.
"And then it killed you."
"Wha-?!" He stopped himself, looking towards you before pointing a finger. "Yeah, but then I got resurrected! So it's all good, everything's good."
"Yeah, by my mother!" You added sternly. "Billy, I know you did what you had to that day, but you seriously need to learn to think things through, because I don't plan on having to resurrect you myself anytime soon."
"Yeah, well- I..." He stopped himself from replying to you, suddenly becoming aware of how casually you dropped his real name and how he wasn't supposed to respond to it. And before he could do anything to correct you, Damian had gone back to his analysis on the situation.
"And that's your reasoning for working with him? Because your mother has forced you into cooperation based upon the fact that she...resurrected him?"
"Well, no, not exactly." You attempted to clear up. "It was more of a meet-cute, and-"
"-Dude, do you even watch the news?" Jon interuppted your words, his smile growing bigger with each passing moment until he himself finally realized who this man was.
"He's one of the new superheroes here! He literally saved the world. Twice."
There was a pause in the air, Damian clearly having not paid any mind to the news (at least, not anything relating to whatever was happening in Philadelphia) and was still unimpressed by just the information being told.
Jon went on, this time in hopes to make it all sound just a little more appealing.
"It's not just him. Like I said, he's in a group. The...Philadelphia Fiascos, something like that."
You couldn't help but try and force back a giggle, knowing just how much the title irked the man standing in front of you as he threw and then dropped his arms against his sides.
"No, that is not our name. It's actually one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. It's definitely not my name. My name is Shazam."
And just like that, with a flash of lightning and a bolt of thunder, "Shazam" was now back to the original name you had given earlier.
"Oh shit-...." He cursed, but you struck an arm out before he could run off or say the word to change back.
"Don't bother." You sighed, taking in the surprised look on Jon's face and the expecting one on Damian's (because lord knows hardly anything surprises him at this point).
"This was all inevitable, I might as well get this over with..."
You inhaled, preparing your words of explanation to the three boys you admired most.
"I know I told you guys that you two are my best friends. You guys have been there for me through my worst and my best, and I'm forever grateful for that. My mother told me it was best that I made new friends. And I did. But... she didn't say anything about not having a boyfriend..."
Jon's eyes nearly widened out of his sockets at your words, Damian's stoic demeanor dropping for a mere split second before he slapped it right back on, hoping you hadn't noticed. But, you did, the shift in his aura already making you more nervous than you already were to introduce your boyfriend.
"You guys... this is Billy Batson."
There was a deafening silence, the four of you staring at one another as if someone was supposed to speak up first. And naturally, this troubled you, but you couldn't help but feel such a strong batch of weight fall from your shoulders.
Relief clouded over you unexpectedly and maybe even too soon, Billy leaning over to you with a hushed tone and a worried glance.
"Are...they supposed to know that?"
Sure, it might not have been your place to suddenly reveal his secret like that, but you figured that maybe it was for the best. Not to mention, he had basically done so on his own inattentive accord. It was just even more of a reason to somehow try and make this trio a quatro. A quartet? A...group of four friends, two of which are dating.
Yeah. Totally not awkward at all.
"Well, yeah, I don't see why not. It's the same as how I know that that's Jon Kent..."
And with a simple gesture over to the raven-haired boy repping his father's symbol of hope on his chest, he gave another wave and this time, an unsure smile towards the dude who he was now supposed to accept as your...boyfriend...
"...'Sup."
You turned towards the other, giving another throw of the hand in hopes to make and keep things seeming causal.
"...And that's Damian Wayne."
And though you hoped he'd at the very least show some form of peace, he kept his glare and stoic nature in tact, staring down Billy as if he were some low-life thug from Gotham City. Someone easy to beat to a pulp, should the boy prove he deserves such a fate in any way, shape, or form.
"(Y/N), how do we even know we can put our trust into this...imbecile? I thought you-"
"-You can trust him, I swear. You trust me, don't you?" You cut in before Damian could even finish his light scoldings. "Besides, he revealed himself to you-"
"-On accident." Billy quickly added, already wishing he hadn't. Wishing he was still in his grown, superhero form. At the very least, his own intimidation tactics would come from confidence rather than cockiness and might even actually work.
"But you did it." You reminded. "He did it. So it's only right that he knows who you are, too, you guys." You informed calmly.
"How did you even meet him? How do I know he can be trusted, (Y/N)?" Damian berated further, Jon nodding in agreement as you huffed in frustration. "This is just as reckless as it is dangerous, especially for you. You need to learn that these types of things can lead to your own downfall."
Before you could even give yourself a chance to think of a response (not even wanting to admit he could possibly be right), Billy had spoken up on your behalf, regardless of his outward appearance.
"Hey, look, I know you're super protective of her and all, I get it... but she can totally take care of herself. I've seen it firsthand. So, relax."
As if the atmosphere couldn't grow any thicker, you felt as though you'd choke on your own shallow breaths, watching the two stare down into each other's matching colored eyes with no intentions to back down. Jon quickly threw you a glance, knowing all too well how Damian tended to "appreciate" these sorts of challenges, and you were the last hope at stopping it, both physically and through your words.
You chose the latter, piping back up with a worthy story to back it all up.
"Like I said... It was a meet-cute."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Mother, I don't understand. I've learned all there is to know about this realm. I've read every book you've given me, and I've seen...so many things I wish I hadn't..." You raved on as you practically jogged to keep up with your mother's long strides.
"What more could I possibly have to gain?"
"Young (Y/N)..." She began, stopping abruptly in order to turn and face you.
"My sweet girl..." You looked up at her with curious eyes, still unsure as to why you two were left wandering the streets of a busy Philidelphia. Deep in the heart, the sea of people wading around your cloaked figures. Shooting you weird glances, but minding their business nonetheless while your mother cupped your chin.
"There is always something more to learn. Much to know, something else to discover. And, if you must take my word, the journey is worth it."
"But-"
"In time, you will see. But, for now, I have a rather important lesson for you today."
You were left befuddled at this bit of information, your brows knitting together as you wracked your brain for what the lesson could possibly be.
"I have completed all of my training. And I wasn't assigned a mission..."
"No, but you're not exactly ready for your tournament on the island, either." She teased with a smirk, leaving you to do sort of a 'har-har' motion with your head at the implication of your later-to-be-done trials on Themyscira. An island you had yet to go back to, having been born there and no memories after that once Diana had made the decision to bring you back to the land mortal man resided on.
"Today is a lesson of cooperation. Teamwork."
"Oh, mother..." You sighed frivolously. "I know how to work with a team. I-"
"I am aware of your allyship with Clark and Bruce's sons. I admire it, actually. You three are a lot more cohesive than what I could ever be with their stubborn fathers. But, I assumed as such. You guys became friends before your superhero duties came into play."
You contemplated such words, and supposed they were in truth. Your mother, Bruce, and Clark seemed to act more like coworkers rather than friends. Unlike the relationship you had with their sons, having bonded and forming a close-knit pact amongst the three of yourselves before having even thought of doing superhero work together.
And when you did, it made your chemistry on the battlefield a lot better; improved your guy's intuitions for the others' next move. Things got done with smoothness, a quick and ease that other teams seemed to have lacked.
"But," your mother continued, intersecting your own thoughts. "I need to know you are capable of such skill and cohesiveness when your partner isn't someone you know. That you will succeed, even if it means working with a foreign accomplice."
"Someone new?" You predicted, suddenly growing unsure of whatever was to come. And rightfully so, the ground suddenly beginning to shake while the crowds around stopped in their hurried tracks. Their gazes went upwards, yours following until the source of such powerful steps came into view.
"Great Hera..."
Your words came out no louder than a whisper, (E/C) eyes widening at the sight of the largest, reptile-like creature you had ever seen. The hairs on the back of your neck stood on end, your blood running cold the moment you had a clear view to recognize the beast.
The father of monsters, leaving all to see within their complete rights to run away in terror. A creature you had only heard about in legends and folklore, and only the kind your mother had told you as a young girl...
"That's... That's Typhon..." Again, your words dwindled away into fearful breaths, taking steps back hoping to fall into your mother's embrace as though it would somehow help the overall situation. And suddenly, it had grown worse, not able to feel the woman behind you and only realizing she was gone when she called down to you from the air.
"Be strong, my child!" She encouraged with an unchanged smile, flying away as if she was really going to...
Oh...oh no...
"Mom! Mom, no, you can't leave! You- You're literally Wonder Woman, you can not just leave me to die!!"
"You will not die, for you are the one who chooses what perishes and what remains in your wake. My Valkyrie. . ." She reminded you, ending it with a charm you didn't dare forget. "With or without accomplice, you are so much more capable than you know!"
Whatever lesson this was, it was insane. But, surely, your own mother wouldn't actually put you in a position where you wouldn't return, right?
You took in a breath.
'Trust yourself, (Y/N).' You reminded yourself. Just like that, you disregarded your cloak, revealing your superhero outfit/armor and drew your weapon. For now, you were all that stood between this city, and this ravenous-
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Are you done?"
Your voice cut out, your expressive hands and dramatic tone faltering while your eyes shifted towards Damian in disbelief.
"Excuse me?"
"This...really isn't giving me meet-cute vibes..." Jon next to speak as Billy gave a huff and an eye roll at the sudden interruption.
"Well, maybe if you'd let her finish-"
"I don't recall asking you."
Another pause, Billy giving Damian a knowing look to combat what seemed to be a permanent glare etched onto his face.
"I didn't know I needed your permission?"
"In the presence of those more advanced than you are, I suggest you learn to wait until it's given."
Billy's eye narrowed as he started up another petty bicker, Jon remaining unaware of the upcoming fight brewing between the two. He was busy working out his own thoughts...
"I'm still trying to figure out what he has to do with any of this..."
"More than you." Billy scoffed, now stuck in a defensive attitude.
"Enough! I will go on and you two will listen, or so help me, you will get no explanation at all and you're just going to have to deal with the fact that I have a boyfriend and like it."
And finally, there was quiet once more. A subduing, accepting one that left you satisfied, nodding a little in accomplishment before continuing on.
"Thank you. Now, as I was saying..."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
You were all that stood between the city, the rest of the world, and this ravenous, ghastly beast. As a result, the creature did nothing more than throw you around and cause more destruction. You were thanking your lucky stars there had been no casualties, and that you yourself were still even alive. But that could change at any moment following after a simple mistake.
One lazy swing of your weapon or step of your foot. One moment of being at the wrong place at the wrong-
"Watch out...!!"
And before you could even process the end of a sharply filed wing coming your direction in hopes to inpale you, a flash of red, white, and gold blurred your vision and suddenly, you were no longer in the path of a painful death. Just left very stunned and confused while the only thing that could leave your lips was a shocked, "Barry, what are you-?!"
"Who?"
Your mouth snapped shut, looking up and staring into eyes that certainly didn't belong to the Flash, even though he was the only person you knew who sported such a combination of colors and possessed super speed. And yet, here you were, being proven wrong and gently set down back onto the pavement.
"N-...Nobody, nevermind."
"Are you okay? You seem...not cut out for this."
This statement caught you off guard. Sure, you were most definitely shaken up and could hardly plan your next course of action without a wave of fear striking up your spine, but...
Not cut out for this?
"That is most certainly the complete opposite of the case, I'll have you know. I do this for a living."
The man gave you a look up and down, a mix of amusement and unsureness crossing his face as he spoke quickly.
"I dunno, you were kinda... If that were true, I don't think I would've had to come in and save you."
"Save me?" You couldn't help but repeat this, truly flabbergasted at such a claim. "Save me?"
"Also, is there a way you can tell me why you're dressed like a Wonder Woman wannabe?" He asked with no true intent to offend, but the more he talked, the deeper the hole he was digging himself would grow.
"'Cause not to harsh your flow or anything, but the original is always better, and I should know because I met her, but you don't wanna hear about that, I mean..."
"I am not-!" You cut into your own loud protest, fighting the urge to discredit any comparison of your person to your mother. You were your own person, no matter the affiliations you carried, and you were quick to make such information known once a breath left your throat.
"My name is Valkyrie, last born of Themyscira and granddaughter of Zeus. And I'll have you know I'd never step down from my duties of protecting the innocent lives of this land, for I am the one who chooses who lives and and who dies. And that beast...?"
You pointed upwards in the relative direction of where it had last been, but the chaos surrounding was enough for both of you to know neither of your jobs were done.
"It goes down. Tonight."
The super in front of you nodded as if he wanted to believe everything you just said but truly couldn't. A little chuckle even slipped through his lips, the man slowly backing away with intent to return to the fight as well.
"Okay, you seem very focused on all of the right things, but since you're obviously way younger than me which makes you more inexperienced, I think I should at least show you how it's done first so you don't get yourself hurt. Alright? Okay."
And with that, he flew off, the short breeze of wind that was left from his takeoff blowing your (H/C) hair back while you stared up in perturbance.
"...Imbecile." You cursed.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"You were arrogant, which made you stupid. And you lacked precision and grace, as well as the ability to properly communicate." You further informed, recalling the way Billy had just as much of a hard time defeating Typhon as you had. If anything, with no training experience, even worse. And when you tried to join in on the fight, he simply remained in your way, and neither of you had ever gotten anywhere for the longest.
"Is that all? Because I'm starting to get a subliminal message that we aren't as girlfriend-and-boyfriend as I thought..." Billy sighed, his face shifting into a light shade of red at your truthful words and thoughts.
He wanted to say how he didn't recall things to have gone that badly at all, but you spoke up before he could.
"No. That isn't all. But, to spare you, I'd like to point out how though you have no mental training whatsoever..."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"...I must admit, you are...very powerful. And your magic isn't like any kind I've seen before." You uttered through heavy breaths, having spent what felt like hours just to defeat such a cruel animal.
"Are you...a god?"
There was a delay, the man trying to work out your question in a way that would make the most sense.
"Demi-God, actually, technically... It's really complicated to explain. My brother would be way better at telling you all about it."
Your head tilted, clearly confused by his words, which only caused him to try and clear it up further.
"Short version, I got my powers from a wizard who said I was like, pure of heart...wise- No, strong in spirit...or whatever, something like that. And ever since, I've been saving the world with my family, which is super cool, by the way."
"And this wizard..." You inquired. "Was he a god?"
"Uhm...no." he answered, again, with a vagueness that caused you to tilt your head once more. It made his heart leap and brought on the sudden urge to tell you more.
"But you know, one thing we do have in common, the whole Zeus thing...that's totally what the 'Z' in my name stands for."
You nodded, accepting the oddly placed information for what it was before sticking out a hand for him to shake. He did so with an eagerness that almost reminded you of Jon.
"Well, regardless of all previously stated about you, your wizard was correct. Your heart was in the right place the entire time, and I admire that. It's...been a pleasure working with you..."
He smiled, hurrying to provide you with a name. Quickly and unthinking, as usual...
"Shazam."
A flash of lighting made you pull away instantly, the thunderous bolt causing you to jump back into a defensive position until the smoke cleared.
What was revealed to you was a teenage boy around your age and looking up at you with wide, emerald green eyes. His brown hair was disheveled, and he practically stumbled over his own two feet in attempts to get away as fast as possible.
"Wait-!" You stopped him, grabbing at his wrist to which he swiftly tried to pull away from. The close proximity only made you more aware of the height difference, yourself maybe only a couple inches taller, which merely added to the fact that he was wildly intimidated by you as a whole. He wanted nothing to do with the consequences of you finding out his biggest secret, especially after all of the things he had said laced in a tone of condescension.
He continued to pull, but you didn't budge. Instead, you calmed, lowering your tone into a whisper that ceased his movements.
"Wait..." You gave a firm nod of solidarity. Filled with compassion, and you were quick to add a smile. "Your secret is safe with me. You have my word."
"Thank you..." He breathed, watching as you slowly released the hold on his wrist. His touch lingered, your fingertips the last to meet before the both of you were now left standing, face to face before you registered the entirety of the situation. Replaying your mother's words...
'I need to know you are capable of such skill and cohesiveness when your partner isn't someone you know. That you will succeed, even if it means working with a foreign accomplice.'
"You were the lesson."
"...What?"
The confusion splayed across his face amused you, a giggle escaping your lips that made his chest fill to the brim with butterflies while you explained.
"Do you recall the Zeus thing you pointed out earlier?"
He nodded.
"Well," you began, straightening yourself out. "My name is Valkyrie, last born of Themyscira, granddaughter of Zeus."
"Yeah, I...caught that the first ti-"
"Also known as (Y/N)," You cut in. "Daughter of this land's beloved Wonder Woman."
"Oh... Oh, my god...!" He gasped, a mixture of amazement and shock in his tone while you gave another laugh and a nod.
"You have revealed yourself to me, so-"
"Accidentally."
"But you did it." You swiftly reminded. "And I have revealed myself to you. So, it's nice to officially meet you..."
"Billy!" He filled in the blank as fast as he could, soon realizing you may want a full name before awkwardly adding the rest.
"Batson...Billy Batson."
"Hm." You hummed in satisfaction, your smile never once faltering as you gave a nod. "I...look forward to working with you in the future. Preferably, not under the circumstances of another lesson."
You pointed upwards, the large body of "Typhon" shape-shifting into one Martian Manhunter, staring at the two of you from high above with Wonder Woman at his side, the two giving nods of content.
"Holy moly..."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Oh! I see now...! Meet-cute." Jon expressed as Damian gave a disappointed shake of the head.
"Careless." He huffed, to which you ignored in favor of only responding to Jon's positivity rather than Damian's negativity.
"Exactly. And then, a few weeks later, I took him out for a date."
"Which I think went pretty well, by the way." Billy added, smoothly lacing his hand with yours (completely ignoring Damian and his icy glare as well).
"Mmm..." You hummed with a tone that begged to differ, leaving it clear you and Billy remembered your first date very differently...

"Wait, so...you really can't fly?"
Though the question may have seemed jarring, the bustling crowds of the inner city masked such an odd remark. It left you two free to converse on topics of both citizen and superhero life. Or whatever else came to mind.
Hopefully, all that came to mind, seeing as your time together was limited for the day.
"Unfortunately, no. Just because I am my mother's daughter doesn't mean I inherited all of her capabilities."
Billy shrugged, making sure to keep pace with you in order to actually be by your side. And, as a courtesy tip from Mary, keep himself on the outside towards the road and yourself inwards. 'Just in case' she had said, which confused him. Not that he doubted, though.
"I guess so. I just thought that maybe since you're her kid-"
"-I'm not a carbon copy, Billy. I am my own person, you know." You informed.
"Yes, of course, I totally get that! But, if you can't fly, and if you're not immortal...what powers do you have?"
Such a question left you to think for a moment, your lips pursing up until you were finally left to shrug yourself.
"Well, I wouldn't really consider them powers. Unlike your abilities, I-..."
A gasp cut into your own words, your mood boosting upwards just like your eyes towards the pink neon sign above.
"Oh my gosh, oh my-! I've heard of this, I've always been so curious to try, but it seems there's never any time..."
At first, Billy was confused by your jolt and burst of excitement, staring at you in muddled amusement.
"Huh?"
You grabbed him by the chin, between your thumb and index finger, and forced his gaze up where yours had been. Quickly, he now understood and looked back down at you in bewilderment.
"You've...really never had ice cream before?"
"Well, with my training and all, on top of my studies and hero duties, I never really...get the chance to do much of anything considered downtime." You explained before giving an obnoxious sigh.
"Hell, if only you knew what I went through just to convince my mother to let me out today. And don't even get me started on my best friends..."
"Your...best friends?" Billy inquired, nudging you with his shoulder in a teasing manner. "Thought I was your best friend."
"Yeah, you are." You admitted, casually nudging him back, which struck up bashful giggles between the two of you. "But, in a different way. They are...my first friends. My first superhero friends, normal person friends...my first best friends. So, naturally, getting past them is like attempting to look a gorgon right in the eyes and not turning to stone."
Though he hadn't caught onto the last bit, the analogy something foreign to him, he'd had come up with a plan instantly to both woo you and to simply give you the experience you deserved.
"Tell you what, (N/N)..." He began, using a nickname he had come up with a short time ago.
"Hm?" You chirped in response, eager for his solution as your walk continued on as a gentle and slow stroll.
"I'll take you for a fly around the city. Watch the sunset, maybe grab some food on the way; Ice cream for dessert..."
You face grew hot just thinking about such an ordeal. It was ideally romantic, and it did end with you getting the treat you had always wanted to try.
"It'd be killing two birds with one stone."
His own weird analogy had caught you off guard, taking in a dramatic inhale as a hand flew to your heart.
"Billy...!" You almost scolded. "I do not wish to kill any birds! Especially not with a stone, that's terrible."
He couldn't help but laugh, though you were having trouble finding the humor in his statement as he pulled you into him, an arm around your shoulder providing a cheesy type of comfort you couldn't help but fall for as well.
"It's...an expression. Just means getting two things done at once." He explained cooly, only for you to pout.
"It's a terrible expression."
He huffed, sending you a deadpanned expression.
"Do you agree to the idea or not, (Y/N)?"
You pretended to think about the offer, though you had already come up with your answer. You just didn't want to come off as too desperate, especially considering this was your first date. Sure, you asked (er, more or less commanded) him out, but that didn't mean it wasn't any less nerve-wracking. And natrually, your mother was not the best of help, pushing and pulling the whole situation.
Encouraging you to show strength and pursue the love that pleased you. But, as instinct to protect their child, as any living creature would, often told you no when it actually came down to you wanting to spend time with Billy.
But, you were here now, and that was all that mattered. Matter of fact, you swiftly realized how silly it would be to hold back on maybe a once in a lifetime experience.
"...I suppose." You finally hummed, to Billy's excitement before you quickly added, "And...don't call me (Y/N)."
"What?"
"To you, I am (N/N)." You instructed, having grown fond of whatever little nickname or petname he had given you. "It has been decided upon."
"Okay, (N/N)."
It wasn't long before you two had wandered into a more desolate area, being thorough that the coast was clear before a bolt of lightning was struck and a pair of glasses came flying off.
"Are you...sure this is safe?" You began to hesitate. No, you weren't afraid of heights. But you were definitely afraid of falling, and while of course you trusted whenever Jon would carry you or when your own mother would, Billy had proven himself a tad more...
Distracted? Nuanced? Impetuous? All could be applicable, really...
"Yeah, of course I'm sure! It'll be fun, c'mon, no stress." He urged, beckoning you over with the wave of his hand while now in his superhero alter ego.
"Do you..." You didn't want what you were about to ask sound silly. You were practically indestructible. Falling should be the last thing you were worried about. And yet...
"I'll fly low through the city; and I won't even go my top speed, I guarantee no building crashes." He further pushed with a hyped up grin.
"Do you promise not to drop me?" You rushed, almost embarrassed with how meekly it seemed to come out. Not like you at all, but Billy couldn't help but find it endearing as he walked forward and placed a comforting palm on your shoulder.
"(N/N), only an idiot would drop someone like you."
And that was all the more convincing you needed, ignoring the butterflies in your chest while he lifted you into his arms in bridal fashion.
He made sure to handle you with the utmost care, keeping his promise having never once even let you so much as wobble or slip from his grasp. And, his plans had proven worthy of the hype, the city lights a whole different view to behold while flying so low. Even as the sun began to set, you had no intentions of returning home anytime soon, regardless of curfew. You couldn't leave now!
Not while you and Billy (now back to himself) sat atop of one of the highest points in the city. Cooped up together on one of the bridge towers while he taught you the proper way to eat a philly cheesteak.
"No, no," He scolded, teasing and light as you let your sandwich rest in your lap, giggling at his example. "You gotta' do it like this. The experience isn't true if you don't get cheese like... literally all over your face, watch..."
And he did just that, leaving you to shake your head as laughter escaped your lips.
"Billy, that seems...unnecessarily messy."
"Well, fine then...!" He challenged, his mouth still full as he gestured towards you. "Lemme' see you try and take a bite without getting cheese or toppings anywhere else."
"Bil-"
"Go on."
You huffed, pursing your lips and narrowing your eyes in his direction before giving in to his petty challenge.
. . .
"It's good, right?"
"It's messy, like I stated..." Your words could've very well been chokes if you weren't careful, your mouth just as full of food as Billy's once was while dots of cheese lined your lips.
"Well, then, congratulations. You did it right. You've made me proud." He announced smugly, handing you an honorary napkin to clean your face with.
Once you had managed to swallow it all down, you couldn't help but admit you were left satisfied.
"How...often are cheesteaks sold?"
He chuckled at your question, now left genuinely proud that he had seemed to have successfully transferred his food addiction onto you.
"Don't worry, we'll get you more another time."
He reached to the side of himself, picking up two small cups filled with the icy treat you had even forgotten you'd gushed about. It left you happily surprised once again as he handed you your own.
"For now, I think we should start you off with the most basic flavor. It's really sweet and really cold, so I didn't wanna overwhelm you."
"What flavor is it?" You were practically bouncing with glee, anticipating its taste before he could even tell you what it was. He didn't even get to get the word out before you had shoveled a bite into your mouth.
"French Vanilla."
"Oh...my gods..." You sighed, savoring the taste on your tongue as the ice cream began to melt in your mouth.
"I'll get more of this sooner as well, right?" You hoped aloud, Billy nodding but encouraging you to "slow down" before you ended up with a "brain freeze", whatever that was.
Speaking of freeze, the chill that passed by was certainly enough to calm you down from the ice cream, your arms littering in goosebumps as the two of you stared deep into the sunset. It casted a glow against the horizon on the water, and though it was growing more and more chilly by the moment, you couldn't help but comment on the beauty of it all.
Billy was swift to agree, not that he was actually looking at the sunset. Too busy admiring your features, the way your hair fell, and how your eyes practically sparkled. The tone of your skin making any scars and beauty marks pop against it with the glow of the sun highlighting it all in gold.
He had to refrain from grazing a hand against your arm, his brain starting to convince him that he was dreaming or that you were an angel of some sort, unreal until he could prove otherwise. And, without really thinking about it, he made moves to do so.
"(Y/N)?"
"Hm?"
"Are...you cold?"
You thought about it, even though you didn't really have to. Not to mention, there was a feeling rising in your chest. A feeling that you knew where this was going, and of course, you wanted nothing more than to experience that.
"Yeah, kinda."
And in a solid flow of motion, the boy beside you had taken off his flannel to drape it across your own figure. Eager to pull you closer into him, practically on his lap as you two watched the remainder of the setting sun. Well, tried to, your focus still shifting towards Billy every now and again as if you had to make sure, convince yourself, that he was still there.
"You're gonna miss it..." He pointed slightly in the direction of the golden ball of light, his voice practically a whisper when he saw you look back at him for what seemed like the miilonth time. Even so, he couldn't help but smile, one matching your own as you shrugged.
"That's okay..." Was your only response before you felt yourself leaning in closer. It was like you were metal, and he was a magnet, not that he seemed to mind before mimicking your actions. You-
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Oh my god, are you telling us about your first kiss? I don't wanna hear about that..." Jon brushed away the mere thoughts of that with a wave of his hand, his actions only humoring you and Billy as you swayed up against him.
"Yes, the first of many~."
"Stop, oh my god...!"
"You're so immature." You chided at the boy's revulsion. "Can't you just be happy for me?"
"I don't blame him." Damian insisted. "I, too, find it hard to be content when this 'relationship' was merely established a few months prior. Especially without us knowing."
"Well, maybe this is exactly why I didn't want to tell you." You spat before gesturing towards both boys. "Either of you. You don't get it."
"Oh, I understand. Trust me." Damian scoffed at your vehemence. "I understand that if you expect me to allow this to continue any further, I must see whether or not he's actually capable of keeping you safe. And that he can be proven worthy of, not only your time and efforts, but to be trusted as well."
And when his green eyes met with Billy's, it was clear he had no tolerance for the boy whatsoever. If anything, it was almost like there was a purposeful intent laced within his words to gain some sort of a rise out of him. One which he got, expectingly.
"Um, allowed?" Billy repeated, not at all liking the idea of being told what to do by anyone other than his parents, much less another boy his age. And chiefly when it came down to you.
"First of all-"
"Oh my gods, here we go..." You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose once more in complete detest for more of the bickering about to occur. It seemed as though no one was willing to listen to your words, Jon able to sense this when his eyes left your dejected figure and took notice of the forming tension between Damian and Billy.
"You guys...!" Jon cut in, putting out the spark where it began. "Maybe...she's right. Maybe this could be a good thing?"
"Of course I'm right!" You gasped the minute Jon had come to your defense. "Look, I understand that you guys just want to protect me, but... I can't learn things if I don't ever make mistakes. My own mistakes." You emphasized, knowing how quickly Damian liked to swoop in to take over your own, potentially dangerous, missions. And how often Jon managed to talk you out of different situations with charisma you sometimes lacked.
"And, to be fully honest, I don't believe Billy to be a mistake." You added, looking him in the eyes and then turning back towards them. "I really, really want this, okay? And I don't care if you guys don't trust him or... even like him. I like him. I trust him. And that's it."
A final act of silence fell between the lot of you, Damian trying his best and failing at avoiding your pleading (E/C) eyes. Failing, so, he gave up.
More accurately, gave in.
"Very well." He huffed, never one to fully let his guard down, but doing the best he could to provide some sense of acquiesce.
"But, should there be any trace of even a minor slip up," he worked in his own version of compromise, sporting a final death glare in Billy's direction. "I will kill him."
"Oh, please..." Was his only reaction to the threat which left you to step in with your own word of reassurance.
"He won't."
"If he knows what's good for him."
"He won't kill you, he's just saying that..." Jon laughed. It was awkward, a sign of attempted lightheartedness before he went on.
"But really, please don't do anything that will make us regret trusting you. I think it'd be cool to have a new guy around!"
And naturally, Billy was a lot more inclined to warm up to Jon, giving him a nod of respect. It all finally left you able to wind down, knowing that though it wasn't today's plans or intentions, you had successfully integrated your best friends with your boyfriend.
A group unlike any other.
One you... still couldn't come up with a name for.

AAAAH I feel like this took me way longer than it should've, or that maybe the story itself is too long, but, either way, I hope you liked it!! I can't wait to figure out a face claim for Jon and Damian, btw, that's still sumn I gotta do.

Hi! I'm the same anon that requested the "Batson and The Bat's son" imagine. I'm so glad you had fun writing it ❤️ and honestly- I can't stop rereading it 😭 words can't describe how it makes me feel (in the best way ofc!). I'm hoping it isn't too soon to be asking for a (kinda) sequel 💀 or prequel- depends on you!
Basically Billy talks about the reader to his family but he's kinda vague, since he doesn't wanna reveal too much and he knows Freddy would bombard him and her with questions if he says too much. They also haven't met the reader yet so they start joking that she's imaginary. One day the team gets themselves into a situation they can't get out of. So the reader comes in and saves them and in the heat of the moment Billy says smth like "SEE- SHE'S REAL". After he says that he has to inevitably introduce the reader to them. Idk what else I want to happen 😭 tho I trust your creative mind 🛐 pls take your time and have a good day ✨💖
Omg haii😼!! I'm so happy you enjoyed it, like, I wasn't sure how well it was going to turn out, but I think I did right by you, which is always the goal for any requester🫶🏽. Anyhow, yes, I am happy to continue your "Wonder-Daughter dates Billy" lore, I'm super into this, and I really hope you like it😙💕.

Themyscirian Girlfriend

Prompt: The duties of being an "average" teenage boy are proving to be quite difficult for Billy. School, chores, being a superhero, keeping your family safe from supervillains, magic, and monsters... And, oh yeah, making sure you don't get beat up by your superhero girlfriend's best friends. OH, and make sure you don't reveal her secret identity to anyone...
That last bit is extra difficult when you have a nosy, superhero obsessed, younger-by-a-month little brother, though.

The golden light casted above the two of you dowsed your body in gold, creating an aura around your figure that Billy wished was nothing short of permanent. Not that he didn't already believe you to be a gift he had no clue how he earned. He just thought the added halo effect seemed fitting, even if it was just a result of a house/porch light that needed thorough cleaning.
"Thank you for joining me today." You spoke once he disconnected his earbuds from the jack of his phone. "I had a great time with you, as always."
"Of course! I'd never miss a chance to go out with you." He admitted, a lot quieter than his voice had previously been on the walk back to his home. But swiftly, the confidence returned as he clicked his phone off and smiled.
"Next time, I'll introduce you to some Steve Lacy."
You tilted your head while he went on in better clarification.
"He's another musician. You'll like him."
Your lips formed an 'Oh' shape as you nodded in understanding before placing a gentle kiss on his cheek and then his forehead.
"I'll see you next week, okay, Billy?"
He nodded, ignoring the heat rising through his body at your simple acts of affection. Maybe he had gotten a little used to giving it, but receiving it back was always such a hassle for his mind. Though you couldn't help but find it endearing when he'd trip and stumble over his words or be genuinely left in surprise whenever you'd reciprocate whatever love he had to offer.
But not this time, because he had focused himself on a heavier subject matter, his words catching you before you could walk away.
"Do you really have to go?"
"Hm?" You hummed in confusion, your head turning to look back at him. It was once you saw the look of forlorn glossed in his eyes that you gave him your full attention again, making your way back in front of him as he explained.
"For the week, I mean. Do you really have to go all the way back to Them... There-is... Themu...uh..."
"Themyscira?" You finished, Billy nodding at the correct pronunciation of your birthplace while you giggled.
"You can just call it Paradise Island. But, thank you for trying."
Billy nodded respectfully, almost laughing while he talked.
"Yeah, I bet it is paradise if there's more girls like you over there..."
"Huh?" You quirked a brow at his statement, Billy immediately sensing his slip-up and grasping at loose straws to fix it.
"I... I just mean, because like, I really like you and since you're from there, there's other women like you, or...your mom."
"What?!" You gasped, Billy letting out a curt sigh at his own, horrible explanation. So, he just gave up instead. It was probably for the best. Or, more accurately, in his best interest.
"I just-! I'd...! I love you, and I'd never breathe in another person's direction because nobody can compare to you...?"
"...Much better." You praised his statement that came out as more of a question waiting for your approval, giving him a playful narrow of the eyes while he gave a breath of relief.
"But, yes, I do have to return to Themyscira. I am due to compete in this year's Amazonian Olympic Games. They will determine whether or not I am worthy of my title and abilities. You, of all people, should understand this given you have a magical wizard looking out for you and your family, yes?"
"Well, yeah, but-"
"-Plus, I just..." You sighed, looking off for a moment in melancholy. "I just really want to make my mother proud. She was much younger than me when she first competed, and though she didn't win, I still have a lot to live up to since I haven't returned in nearly eight years."
Billy nodded, showing his understanding for the matter while your gaze remained glued to the porch floor beneath you.
"Are you nervous?" He asked, and almost instantly, you nodded. Hell, just thinking about the whole ordeal made the jitters appear in your stomach and hands.
"Immensely."
With a warm smile, Billy gently took both of your hands into his, cupping them so they'd stop shaking while making sure he was able to hold eye contact with you.
"Well, I just want you to remember that you'll do amazing. No matter what happens, you're still worthy to me, and you'll always have a place here. Just, y'know...be careful. And good luck; don't let them get in your head."
"Oh, Billy..." You sighed in fondess but didn't get to express any further gratitude for his kind words as he went on.
"And also, call me if something happens."
You gave him a look, one that was a clear expression of, "Do you really think we have those silly little phone-thingies on the island...?" He caught it, nodding side to side a little before re-wording.
"Send me a bird letter if anything happens. And like, seriously, be careful because I know it's probably a long trip there and back. Which reminds me, please come back soon. And-!"
"-Billy...!"
He hushed.
"...I will, don't worry yourself. I'll be careful, I'll send you bird letters, and most importantly..."
Just as you had before, but directly on his right dimple this time, you placed down a gentle kiss. A reminder and a promise.
"I love you. And I will be back as soon as I can be."
You watched in amusement at the boy in front of you beginning to grow even more bashful than before, unable to look you in the eyes for fear he'd just crumble beneath you. And honestly, neither you nor him would have it any other way. But, just to be on the safe side and make sure he didn't actually do so, you were quick to capture him in a real kiss. Billy eager to return it with a passion that was predictable yet always appreciated and matched.
"You know I have super-hearing, right...??"
The voice went echoed into the air, the same place your skirt and hair went flying at the sudden gust of wind that almost knocked the two of you over.
"The hell...?" Billy commented as he held you to keep the two of you from falling over, looking around in confusion while you merely rolled your eyes.
"Jon..." You all but murmured, and in reference to his super-hearing, he responded with another burst of speed and more echoed words.
"I'm just saying, like, are you two done now? I don't wanna hear you guys swap spit."
"Obnoxious with the use of your powers, I fear you may hardly deserve them...!! Bring yourself here so you don't have to keep listening in!" You shouted in a scolding tone before letting out a breath and shaking your head.
"Sorry. He's my ride." You both explained and apologized to Billy, the boy nodding in understanding with a slight chuckle before the two of you smiled at Jon's very fast appearance. Stopping right in between you with a quickly dispersing cloud of air behind him, he was quick to give you a joking snarl as you shot him a deadpanned glare.
"Can we go, now? I have a cerfew, too, y'know."
"Yeah, well, some of us can't fly, nor have super-speed. Consider yourself lucky."
The raven-haired boy simply shrugged, sticking his hand out towards Billy to initiate a greeting that the brunette returned with a smile.
"'Sup, Jon?"
"Nothin' much, just, y'know... saving the world. No biggie."
Billy nodded in understanding as they dapped each other up, a smug smile gracing both of their lips.
"Same, same."
"Idiots..." You sighed, unable to contain your smile at the friendship that had blossomed between the two. Damian, on the other hand... was still a work in progress, hence is absence.
It wasn't long after their brief moment of catching up that the two of you took your leave, Jon carrying you as you waved down to your boyfriend for the final time this evening, him waving back until Jon was swiftly out of sight. A loud, crashing boom of him breaking the sound barrier to follow up after that caused the front door to swing open.
"I thought I said no Shazaming in the house...?"
Billy whipped around to face Victor, thinking quickly to come up with a viable excuse.
"It wasn't me!"
Nice one, Billy.
"It was my girlfriend, she just left, like... two seconds ago."
Victor raised a brow at his son's explanation, watching as he scratched the back of his neck while continuing to ramble on.
"Well, technically, it wasn't her. She was getting a ride from someone else and he- It- Whatever, nevermind, it doesn't matter."
The man chuckled while his son slipped past him and into the house, letting out a teasing, "Girlfriend, huh? I guess that explains the..." and circling around his own face to imply something. Billy, who didn't even spare a look back, hadn't caught on upon making his way to the dining room.
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
All five of his siblings, his parents, and welcomed guest Anthea, watched as Billy shoveled spaghetti into his mouth at an ungodly rate. Which one would think would be impossible for a literal demi-god, but here they were. Alas, it's not like anyone could really blame him. It was his favorite meal, it was Rosa's cooking, and he was sick of the vegetarian meals Darla had been making for the past four days.
Although, it wasn't the main reason he was being gawked at in the moment, Freddy and Eugene the ones to be stifling laughter while the rest wanted nothing more than to tell him. It was clear he didn't realize, it was just a matter of how to approach the subject...
"Um... Billy?" Mary began gently, the teen not even looking up from his plate as he continued to eat, unknowing of his entire family's attention on him.
"You have... a little something, like, all over... your face right now." She made the same circling motion around her face as Victor had prior, not that he saw that one either. Just missing it, actually, finally looking up to notice all of the odd stares towards his seat at the table.
"Oh." Was his only reaction, setting down his fork to wipe his cheek. It gained more unseen giggles for some reason, but his only goal was to get back to eating, so natrually, he brushed then off with a curt, "Thank you, Mary." and continued is stuffing.
"No, you still..." Anne spoke aloud this time, her words trailing off when she realized she hadn't caught him in time once he started eating again.
"You just made it worse, dude." Mary giggled, having to lean her head down on the back of her hand to hide it.
"Oh." Billy spoke again, brows furrowed in the slightest while Rosa had set down her own fork. She motioned for her son to come closer, picking up a napkin and slightly dipping it into her water.
"C'mere honey, let me just wipe them for you..."
"Mom- No, stop it, I got it." He reassured, slightly embarrassed by her offer while going for his own napkin. "I'm not five."
And with one quick motion of his napkin up and down his face, it was clear to everyone but him he had simply made the situation much worse.
"There."
It drew in more laughter, this time from everyone, as he stared around the table in confusion that slowly turned into annoyance. It was like being on the outside of an inside joke, and if there was one thing he was tired of feeling in his life, it was being left out.
"What...?" He questioned, Darla the first and very eager to ask simply out of her own and pure curiosity.
"How come you got kissies all over your face?"
. . .
"...Huh...?"
Everyone burst into laughter, Billy's questioning gaze soon shifting into one of realization as he thought back. Back to moments that felt forever ago, where you had placed kisses across his face. Kisses with your lips coated in dark red lipstick...
"Oh... my god, (Y/N), why... just, why...?" He cursed your name lightly, now taking up Rosa on that offer to clean his face. Not that it mattered, his face still as dark red as the kisses that had now been wiped clean out of sheer embarrassment.
"So that's her name?" Victor pointed out, his voice and chest swelling with pride for his son's unadmitted achievement in life. Getting himself a girlfriend. "(Y/N)..."
He moved his hand across in the air as though your name were the title to an upcoming movie or a fresh take. A new and interesting topic, something this family thrived in, especially during dinnertime. And Billy, natrually, was not at all prepared and internally scolded himself for not being careful enough with his words.
It only grew more chaotic from there, Mary, Rosa, Darla, and Anthea letting out squeals loud enough to rival the TV playing in the living room as background noise.
"Billy, you never told me you had a girlfriend! Since, uh, when...?"
"Why would I ever tell you...?" Billy countered Mary's words, Darla already voicing her fantasies on merging her into the already big family.
"Her name is so pretty! Is she pretty, too? I bet she's gorgeous, like a princess! D'you think she'll play mermaid princesses with me?!"
"She must be...!" Rosa agreed swiftly with a laugh, motioning towards Billy fondly with her hand. "You saw all of the little besos she gave him. She probably thinks the same of you, Billy... My sweet boy with his own girlfriend, aww...!"
She just couldn't take it, placing a hand over her heart out of pure happiness for her son who had seemed to have finally found his love. His first one, at that. Which yes, he did, but-
"Mom, stop it, it's not that big of a deal, please..."
Not what he was thinking when you first asked him out, but whatever.
"Oh my gosh," Anne gushed, already jumping in with her own opinion to give. "With a name like that, she's bound to be amazing."
"I-" She kept going, Billy hardly even able to inhale as his siblings gushed on.
"Does she go to Fawcett, too? How come we've never seen her around?"
Freddy's scoff of a laugh caused the attention to leave Billy for a split second and move onto him, the curly-haired boy casually taking a bite from his own plate while he spoke.
"Pro'lly 'cause she ain't real..."
He jumped slightly when Anne quickly landed a slap to his arm, his mouth full and chewing as he laughed and went, "What?" Before it was his mother's turn to scold him verbally.
"Be nice, Freddy, this is probably a big deal for your brother."
Billy rolled his eyes. Not at Freddy (even though he debated kicking him under the table for his implication). But at the sudden attention he was receiving on the topic of his accidentally mentioned girlfriend. He hadn't even known whether or not if he was ready to tell them about you, let alone introducing you to them. Plus, he didn't trust himself enough not to slip up about the fact that you were Valkyrie. Or Wonder Woman's daughter. Or... both facts.
But on the other hand, he wouldn't tolerate any slander of your name, nor would he allow either of you two to become the target of any teasing from the family, so...
"Well, first of all, yes... she is real, Freddy..." Billy glared in his direction, the room going quiet at his words while he continued to clear the case of your existence up.
"And second, Darla, she is... beyond gorgeous. Like, angel levels of pretty, it's unbelievable."
"Wow!!" Darla squealed in excitement as Freddy gave a small tilt of his head to the side.
"Unbelievable, wow, you don't say?"
But nobody heard, too focused on the description of your person and enthralled with just the way he did it. Full of passion and care they hadn't even realized the boy possessed for anyone outside of the family, let alone a girl. A love that couldn't be replicated or replaced, something that'd make you glow red if you had been in the room to hear it.
"She's got this amazing hair that frames her face perfectly, and she wears glasses, but when she takes them off, you can see how, like... just wow her eyes are. They remind me of a type of jewel or something because they literally sparkle when she's happy or are firey with determination when she's- uh... doing something that requires a lot of focus.
Her entire face is just something I can't stop looking at, and gosh, that girl is... her body is-..." He coughed. "She's a little bit taller than me, so... yeah..."
"And you just... never thought to maybe bring her over? Y'know, just 'cause..." Freddy shrugged, holding back his complacent tone as Eugene bobbed his head in agreement.
"And, let me guess, she texts you all the time, and you go on walks around the park together every Saturday."
At their back-to-back quips and hushed laughter, Billy shot them a scowl as Rosa began to nod in oblivious agreement.
"Yeah, sweetie, why don't you invite her over for dinner tomorrow night? It's a Friday, after all. You can tell her we'd love to meet her."
With a chorus of agreements settling consternation into his chest, he blurted out a slew of excuses as he waved his hand up and down as if to brush the idea of you coming over away.
"Nah, no, that's... she- We already have a lot of people here, she might get... overwhelmed! Yeah. And, y'know, it's just not a good idea."
"And whyyy not?" Freddy pushed, leaning against the open palm of his hand while feigning an affable smile and forcing his brows to jump up and down in silent suggestion.
"She's busy." Was his simple statement, Eugene following up on his claim in an instant.
"Busy doinggg...?"
"...Work." He filled in the blank awkwardly, practically squirming in his seat at the expecting silence. He conjured up some of your favorite hobbies in his mind, anything as far away from superhero work as possible, so he could word it as some type of job that you "have".
"She works as a (Favorite/Hobby), and she's probably gonna' be, like, swamped with stuff to do, so... tomorrow wouldn't work."
"Oh, how wonderful!" Rosa praised, impressed by your skills and interests. "We'll certainly have to make time for her over the weekend or next week then!"
"She can't. She'll be busy all week, too."
"Natrually..." Freddy poked with a theatrical eye roll and a closed-mouth grin. "She must be on the 'twenty-four-seven, forever' shift, which I'd expect from a girl with an imaginary sense of work-life balance."
"Harhar, you're hilarious." Billy mocked, now going through with his actions to send his brother a kick to the shin under the table.
"She's actually going to-...on...uh..." He had to stop himself. What would've been a smug brag about you visiting Paradise Island, becoming a realization that would just throw you under the bus. Plus, it's a lot more unbelievable than everything he had said so far. As much joy as it would bring Billy to rub a trip to Themyscria in his face, he'd just have to make Freddy jealous another time. Besides, he didn't necessarily have to lie. He could just not tell them the full story.
It wasn't a lie if he never told them otherwise to begin with.
"She's going on vacation. With her mother. So, she's gonna' be gone for the rest of the week."
"Oh, really?" Mary piped up out of genuine curiosity, having always wanted to travel herself. "Where's she going?"
. . .
"Out of the country."
"Oh."
"How convenient!" Eugene chirped while he slid his phone towards Billy, as if he were telling him to go ahead and prove it. "Why not just FaceTime her, then? You know, just check in like any good boyfriend should? Maybe even shoot her a little text."
"I can't do that!" Billy exclaimed. "I wouldn't wanna bother her or be rude or anything. She's- it's a... mother-daughter bonding thing, it's different. Hard to explain."
In a sense, that could also be construed as truth, considering you'd be competing in an Olympic event, racing and fighting against others and the elements to both claim and prove your status. Something that would ideally make your mother very proud. Billy himself didn't even one-hundred percent understand the whole event, so it was right for one to assume that he probably would have trouble explaining it to his family. Should he ever have to, of course.
Good thing he won't.
A silence loomed over the family as Billy loosely twirled his spaghetti around his fork. He'd almost be grateful for it if it weren't so uncomfortable. He was sick of being pressed about you, not that he wouldn't take any chance to show you off otherwise. And if it wasn't that, he was annoyed at the way Freddy and Eugene didn't seem to even believe you were real, Mary and Anne able to sense this as they gave each other an unsure look.
"Uhm, well..." The goddess coughed, playing with the hem of her (Freddy's) sweater. "How'd you two meet?"
Finally! Something Billy knew the proper answer to!
"Oh, we were-"
Ohp-. Wait, nevermind. No he didn't.
You two were saving the world when you first met, battling a beast that wasn't even real because it turned out to be a test? He didn't know the details of that dilemma very well, either. All he could remember fondly was the way you looked at him when he accidentally revealed himself. Warm and promising, full of care and will-power that he'd been drawn to ever since.
The same look you gave him when you asked him out on that very first date, where he-
Oh, great idea...!
"At an ice cream shop. I was at an ice cream shop, and that's where I met her. She had never had any before, and so I suggested she start off with something simple, like vanilla. I bought some for her and we spent the rest of the afternoon together. We've been going out ever since."
"Awww~!" Rosa and Anne chorused, Freddy already calling nonsense at the story with a few chuckles hidden behind his hand.
"Wait, so... lemme' get this straight..."
"Frederick..." Anne warned with his full name. He ignored (and he'd be apologizing for it later, no doubt).
"You mean to tell me, this girl has never had ice cream before? Like, in her seventeen-to-eighteen years of life, she had never had one singular scoop of frozen milk and sugar?"
"Dude-"
"-Nevermind the fact that you just, outta' nowhere, decided to rizz up some random girl you didn't even know inside of an ice cream parlor."
"Yeah, Freddy, I did." Billy snapped, waving his hand around in the air for a moment as if he were magically conjuring up the false memory. "And apparently, it all worked out because we've been dating for months, now. Thank you very much."
Jaws dropped at this, having not expected such a bond. It was one thing for Billy to have started a fresh relationship. Maybe for him to even be a little secretive about it until things had proven to be smooth sailing for a long time. But months? Either he forgot to brag about it, or she most definitely didn't exist.
Freddy and Anne almost immediately turned to give each other a knowing look, as if they were reading each other's minds before speaking in unison.
"Is this like a Canadian girlfriend thing...?"
Billy huffed through his nose, knowing better than to let insults fly at the dinnertable with his parents present. But regardless of that fact, Mary was the first to tell he had grown fed up, nudging Victor on the arm while she murmured.
"Here we go again..."
"She's real, okay? (Y/N) is very much real, and you two are just jealous because it took an entire dragon rising from the depths of hell for you two to get together."
And off he went, storming away, leaving Freddy and Anthea's mouths agape in shock while Pedro and Eugene practically sobbed from their loud chortles.
"Do you think he'll come back this time if I call him?" Victor cheesed, Mary shaking her hide from side to side at his reference from the last time Freddy had pissed Billy off at the table. Speaking of which...
"Alright, yeah, whatever...!" He called as if the older boy was still listening. "At least we can all actually see my girlfriend...!"
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Is it her?"
Though Freddy's index finger was very obviously directed towards a young girl in the hallway, his brown eyes remained glued to Billy's green ones, waiting for them to change in recognition. They didn't, remaining as stoic as they had when Freddy first began this little game of "Point Out The Person That Looks Closest To Billy's Imaginary Girlfriend."
"No."
"Okay, then it's her." Freddy suggested next, his arm practically flying across Anthea's person just to point his finger at the girl they waltzed past. Billy swore that if the poor thing wasn't in between them, he'd tackle Freddy to he ground, in the middle of the hallway and all. So, maybe it was a good thing Anthea was there.
Billy's eyes drifted to the next victim, a short girl with scene hair and huge platform demonias that stared them down in confusion. He quickly shook his head.
"No, it's not her. (Y/N) is way taller than her. Genetically, without platforms."
"Fine, what about her?" Freddy waved lazily in the direction of someone ahead. "She looks like your type."
Billy huffed.
"That's literally just a guy with long hair."
Freddy's face twisted in disbelief, shaking his head as though he knew better.
"No it isn-"
"It is." Anthea cut in before her boyfriend could finish, turning him towards the person who had finally spun away from his friend and proving to Freddy that he was, in fact, just some dude with a gorgeous head of hair.
"Oh. Mm-."
"Can you just-?" Billy started a desperate plea that went ignored as Freddy smiled in satisfactory, spotting the next girl. Who, yes, was actually a girl this time.
"What about her? Look, she's even how you described, glasses, tall, (Your/Feature), the whole shaza-...shebang..."
Billy hardly wanted to entertain this any longer, but upon looking her direction, noticed swiftly how oddly her features did line up to yours. And yet...
"No, that's not her. I told you already last night, (Y/N) doesn't go here. She's... homeschooled." He excused, quite proud of how fast he had come up with it. Plus, it was kind of true, Diana the one who had taught you most of your studies. And when not her, a private tutor Bruce had graciously spent his money on for you to have.
Yes, the Bruce Wayne.
"Oh, of course. What an awesome coincidence."
"Freddy, stop it." Anthea nudged him, not allowing the teasing to continue any further upon seeing the scowl from last night returning onto Billy's face.
"I'm sure he's probably telling the truth, I mean, what reason would he have to lie? Besides, she's probably just...shy. Maybe she's shy."
And though the girl was satisfied with her answer, Billy could only laugh giddily to himself while remembering the time you had allowed him to watch a very special training session you had in the past.
"Yeah, if you call accidentally bodyslamming Superman "shy," then sure. Most timid girl I know..."
"What was that?"
"Nothing...!" He brushed his remark away when he had almost been caught, quick to change the subject before he could be questioned any further.
"Guys, look, just drop it, alright? I know you don't believe me, and you know what? I don't care anymore. I'm happy, outside of the fact that you're really working my nerves, and that's all that matters. I'll see you two later..."
"Billy, hang on...!" Anthea called, having not meant to cause a fuss on the matter. She couldn't help it. She was entirely too good-natured. But, there was Freddy, always there to ease her own tensions and make her laugh in the process.
"Agh, don't worry about him. He'll get over it. You know, the imaginary girlfriend thing is a common phase, cited by phenomenons all across the globe of people with the exact same conditions and symptoms. Lois Lane even wrote an article on it way-back-when she was first starting out."
"Oh, yeah?" Anthea entertained smugly, Freddy nodding fastly as he droned on.
"Totally. It was a very interesting article, but it made total sense. I mean, even I went through a phase just like it, and I turned out fine."
"Oh?"
And then it clicked, Freddy's face growing a deep shade of red under his freckles.
"Yea- Only when I was like, super tiny-young, I mean. Like, it was- I..."
His rambles stopped when he noticed Anthea's raised brow, almost laughing to himself while they paused in front of her classroom door.
"Just...forget I told you that. I love you my very much, my real and amazing girlfriend. I swear, my pillo- I mean, Jennifer was just a quick fling and nothing compared to the goddess that stands in front of me...?"
Through her giggles, she nodded, pressing a kiss to his cheek and taking her leave.
"That's what I like to hear~. Now, don't go off 'saying the word' while I'm gone, 'kay?"
Freddy nodded at her parting heed, knowing it was a reference to the way he'd ditch class to go off and do hero work without warning.
"I won't, I won't...!"
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"SHAZAM!"
"Alright, what's the plan?!" Freddy shouted as they all gawked up towards the threat, Billy shrugging casually while he shook his head as though he were literally wracking his brain for a proposal.
"Uhh...Ahhh... No idea! I think we should just wing it, to be honest...!"
"That's a terrible plan!!" Mary and Anthea shouted in unison, the shorter girl using magic to cloak over herself and change into her armored attire.
"Superman's weakness is Kryptonite, right?!" Mary swiftly informed the group, Freddy nodding in confirmation. "Good! If Bizzaro is anything like him, it should be the same! If we can distract him long enough for one of us to catch him from behind, we'll have a chance at detaining him! Then, we can send him back to his world...!"
"Yes, awesome, Wisdom of Salamander...!" Billy praised, leaving all of his siblings to groan.
"Solomon...!"
"Whatever...!!"
And with that, they put her plan into action, Freddy and Pedro flying up high until they were facing the Kryptonian clone with complacent, challening grins.
"Hey, Bizarro-Man...!!" Freddy called, nudging Pedro. "Since you're a copy of Superman, is it really true you have super strength like him?! Betcha' we could take you in a fight...!"
The villain merely scoweld, sending a sudden breath of flame towards them. Freddy dodged, Pedro just missing his chance to do the same before being his with the blast and being sent flying into the nearest billboard.
"...Fire breathing?! You can breathe fire?!" Freddy yelled in a panic, unable to add on how that was very much unlike Superman's notable ability of freeze breath before realizing Bizarro was barreling straight for him. Freddy took off, both of their super speed rivaling each other as he crated a path for his siblings to follow.
"Where are we gonna' get Kryptonite?" Darla gasped, all of their heads turning as the two flew by. Mary pondered the situation deeply, having never even seen the green emerald herself, let alone come into contact with it. She figured it was a lost artifact, a gem only the most powerful would have. Except for Superman, all things considered. So maybe more like magical powerful people.
People like...
"The Wizard!" She shouted. "He's the most powerful person we know, having kept all of his powerful objects in his lair, right?"
"Yeah," Billy agreed. "But what does he have to do with anything? He's not the-"
"I know, but the lair is ours, now!" She explained further. "Which means so are all of the things in it!"
"But-!"
"Anthea, Darla...! Go help Freddy and make sure to keep Bizarro busy! Eugene, go help Pedro, make sure he's alright!"
"On it!" Anthea gave Mary a nod, Darla having already dashed away as Eugene made his way towards his brother.
"Billy, you come with me, hurry...!" Mary instructed, grabbing his wrist and practically dragging him along as he followed in confusion.
"Mary, where are we going?! This is really not a good time to ditch them, we-!"
"We're not ditching them." She insisted, opening a random shop door with the intention for it to open a portal to the Rock of Eternity. And luckily, it did just that as she went on with a rapid explanation for her actions.
"You know how Eugene has been mapping the place out? Well, I've been helping him. Mainly making sure he doesn't get lost, but also because I've been studying it all. Making sure we know that everything that's in there is actually safe."
They wandered past the main part of the lair, the area where everything had been decorated freely and most obviously lived in, to the more labrynth-like parts that always confused Billy and Darla whenever they tried their own hands at exploring. But this time, Mary was there to lead him, having a clear sense of direction seeking out whatever it was she was searching for.
"We came across this space or...cave or something. Like a mine, y'know? And at first, I wasn't sure what was in it. Neither of us were, I mean, I couldn't find any of them in any books or articles. It's like... all the gems that are in that cave aren't from here or something. From another world."
"Mary, this really is some interesting stuff, but I don't get wh- woah..."
Billy's rambles were cut short, the two siblings having stopped in front of the very cavern Mary described. The entrance was glowing due to all of the luminous crystals buried off inside of it. Hell, the cave itself seemed neverending, branching off into different routes, holes, and other tunnel systems that were surely easy to get lost in.
Luckily, they didn't need to go too far in, Mary stopping Billy from doing so with the tug of his arm back closer to her person. She was slightly bent over, hovering above a large chunk of what he assumed to be an emerald. Practically matching the color of his eyes, they both sparkled at one another while Mary began to confess her opinions.
"I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before, but if my assumption is correct...if these are otherworldly artifacts...then I don't know what else this could be, other than-"
"Kryptonite..." Billy finished, turning towards his sister with an ecstatic grin. "Mary, you genius, you! Here, c'mon, help me get this stuff out of the wall...!"
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Where the hell is Mary with that Kryptonite...?!" Freddy whined in an almost sing-song tone, blasting a continuous bolt of lightning directly at Bizzaro. It had no effect, merely slowing him down by a second until Darla, Pedro, and Eugene all joined in. And though it didn't hurt him, he was stuck in his tracks, trying his hardest to deflect it.
"She said she had an idea...!" Darla grunted. "But I dunno' what! She just took Billy back to the lair and- AAH!!"
Bizzaro had used all of his strength to blast the lightning back, sending the group soaring backward at the impact. As he began to stalk closer towards Darla, Eugene was quick to jump in the way with a protective, "No!" leaving his lips.
A bolt of lighting shot from his hands, Bizzaro quick to blast it with-
"Freeze...eyes...?"
The beam of icy blue turned Eugene's lighting into a solid rod of frozen air, the large block dropping to the ground and shattering beneath their feet. Freddy had... never seen a power like that before. It confused him, all of them, long enough to be a stall as Bizzaro quickly let off another beam towards them.
"Watch out...!!" Anthea warned, quickly hopping in the way with her hands out. Her palms glowed, swirling with golden power until the buildings and structures around them began to move and shift rapidly. Power of Axis, always a helpful tool in changing perspective, but not in changing the course of a blow to its intended target. Given the girl had learned this fact the hard way in the past, she was quick to turn to them in haste.
"We have to move, hurry! If we don't, we'll still get hit!"
Almost as if on cue, they watched the blast of ice cold vision barrelled towards them through a park, just barely missing all of the different play structures as the group swiftly managed to fly off in different directions. Freddy was sure to take Anthea in his arms, watching as the beam instead left a jungle gym frozen solid into a dome.
"Guys...!!"
Looking towards the voice, they were happy to spot Mary and Billy flying back towards them with a glowing, green gem in hand.
"No way-No way-No way!!" Freddy gushed as they approached, showing it off with pride. "You two actually found Kryptonite?! Do you know how rare this is?! Like, it's literally thought to be a myth, like, it's more believable than your imaginary girlfriend...!"
"Oh my god..." Billy groaned as the rest giggled. "C'mon, man, it's been like a week!"
"I'm being totally serious!" Freddy held his hands up as though he were giving surrender while Billy shook his head in dismay.
Mary sighed, floating in between the two boys with the gem in hand.
"Not the time, guys. Look, if we can keep Bizzaro distracted for just a little longer, this should definitely do the trick. We got this."
She held out her fist towards Billy, sending him a sure smile.
"You ready?"
"Yeah," he nodded, giving a smirk of his own before scanning the land beneath for their foe. He bumped her fist back. "Let's kick this dude's ass."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Dude, we're getting our asses kicked...!!" Eugene grunted, struggling to pick himself up from the ground as he clutched his side.
"It's like he's more powerful than before!" Anthea alluded, wiping the blood from her lip as she helped Mary from the ground and onto her shoulder.
"I don't... understand..." She coughed, grateful for the support as she looked up to her two brothers, trying their best to subdue Bizzaro hand-to-hand.
"The Kryptonite should be working. It should...be making him weaker."
"Maybe it isn't what you thought it was..." Darla whimpered, sending her sister a look of vanquish.
Billy watched as Bizzaro landed a blow onto Freddy's chest, the man in blue being sent flying back into the earth with a loud yelp and a crash. He wanted to call for him but reminded himself to focus on the battle at hand if there would be any chance of defeat. Even if he was scared, as much as he didn't want to admit it.
You'd be scared, too, if some weird copy of Superman was hurdling towards you, Kryptonite wedged into his bleeding shoulder (blue blood, which was quite jarring when they first stabbed him) with some obtuse goal to destroy the world he deemed "lesser" than his own.
Because of this, he'd frozen up, unsure of how to counter his speed let alone his attack. Instead, he took it like a champ, as he had many punches even before he was a superhero, and went hurdling towards the ground just as Freddy had.
"Oh. Hey, man..." Freddy groaned when his brother appeared next to him.
"Having fun, yet?" Billy haphazardly joked, referring to Freddy's "love" and "enjoyment" for his "superhero duties."
"Oh, yeah, loads." He nodded unconvincingly, wiping the blood from his nose with his arm. "I love the smell of iron in the morning. And, y'know- the sounds of terror and destruction really just...pull it all together."
They helped each other up, checking themselves for any fatal injuries. And, when they found none, regrouped with the rest of their family in doldrums as they watched Bizzaro inflict his reign of dismantling on the city.
"What're we gonna do?" Darla asked, looking to her brother in worry.
"Your realm is not capable of destroying power such as this. How are we to do the same?"
Anthea's words had been directed towards Freddy but left Billy's mind swirling instead. Was she right? She had to be...
If the Champions of Magic and an entire goddess couldn't decide the fate of their opponents on the battlefield, who could?
. . .
Their heads whipped up at the sound of a furious battle cry, a shimmer of gold and the quick blur of your (H/C) locks barreling towards the enemy. Your sword drawn and in position to leave its target slain as you attacked from above, a ferocious look on your face for none other than the mockery of hope and justice below you.
When your weapon made contact, you knew better than to think it'd actually cut through Bizarro. But, it did send him hurdling towards the dirt as he had Freddy and Billy moments earlier. You had cut a large chunk of the green Kryptonite from his shoulder, dimming him back to his normal level of powerful abilities. And yet, you knew this wasn't the end, much more work to be done as you announced your threat.
"My mother and her colleagues have defeated you once, and you dare to return to this world and cause its people pain and anguish once again?!" Your booming scolds might've reminded someone that of a parent, pointing your sword below you at Bizzaro's stunned figure.
"How dare you have such audacity?! Let it be known I will not allow you to do so, and you will now fall by my hand, even if it kills me!"
"Valkyrie?!" - "(Y/N)?!"
Both of your aliases spoken into the air at the same time, yet it was Billy who wanted to slap himself after being the only one to have said your real name rather than your well-known, hero one. He even tried to ignore the looks his siblings (and Anthea) gave him, pure shock just oozing from their figures.
"That's (Y/N)?!" Mary shouted in bafflement.
"She's real?!" Freddy's tone of incredulity made Billy's eyes roll for a split second.
Not alloted any time for anyone to question or answer further, your head whipped back, you're firey (E/C) eyes glaring deeply into Billy's.
"You...!" You bellowed menacingly, and suddenly, he was a lot less excited to see you.
"Wha-?! Are you-? Oh...my gosh, are you mad at me right now?..."
From a bystander's point of view, it definitely looked a little silly, your shorter and younger appearing figure stomping towards this grown adult man, who was fearfully stumbling back away from you as you approached with anger. His face was dowsed in fear, and yours?
Where to begin...
"I leave you on your lonesome to protect your people for a week! A week! And this is what I'm fated to return to?! Do you even know what it is you've done allowing him to remain in such close proximity to green Kryptonite?!"
"I- Uh...Well, technically, it wasn't even really my idea, 'cause-"
"William."
You seethed his full name, cutting off his excuses, which consisted of throwing his older sister under the bus. She thanked whatever God above for that one, not even having been in your presence for a mere two minutes, and was terrified of your wrath.
The groan of Bizzaro rising from the dirt stopped the rest of your reprimands, leaving you the sigh in simple vexation before pointing a finger at your incautious lover.
"I will deal with you later."
A silence passed over as you leaped into action, everyone still left a bit shaken at everything you had to offer so far. Including Billy, even though all he could muster up was a quiet, "I told you she was real..."
"That's your girlfriend?!" Freddy nearly exploded. "Valkyrie is your girlfriend?! Dude, I-...! You-! You do know she's Wonder Woman's whole ass daughter, right?! How the fu-?!"
"-Clearly...!" Mary interrupted loudly before he could heavily cuss around Darla. "He's got a type!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever!" Billy exclaimed, already beginning to hover above the ground in hopes to aid his girlfriend. "It doesn't matter right now. We have to help her, c'mon!"
It was once Anthea and the Champions joined the fight, Bizzaro was left with a slim chance of winning. Especially without the enhancement of that same green jewel that always seemed to leave Superman weakened and withered. Mary was still lost on such fact, and Freddy was searching his mind for any possibility of how that could be so.
"I don't get it!" He finally wailed, exhausted from the fight and from using his brain overtime. "He's just like Superman, almost...! If he's such a copy, then how come none of our plans are working?!"
"That is because he is not a copy." You stated plainly, no evidence of normalcy left in your voice. What was left was that of a warrior. A warrior thick in the ways of battle and strategy, knowing your enemy much more than your allies seemed to.
"He is a mirror. Bizzaro, El-Kal, is from a twisted world he created. Everything there, including himself, is some backwards nuisance of what we're so used to here on our planet."
"Hold...Hold'up..." Eugene paused, unable to believe the information being told to him. "This guy's is from another planet just like ours?"
"Yes and no. His world resembles ours, but it is not. It is cubed shaped and docile, with a blue sun that amplifies El-Kal's strength. Much like how this earth's yellow sun aids Superman's. Kal-El."
"Ohh, ha, that's funny, I get it." Freddy chuckled. "It's all backwards over there, so Kal-El is...yeah, that's...that's bad..."
"Well," you smirked, the first and only hint of positivity you had exuded from your person since you had arrived. "Not all bad."
From the latchel which normally held your Lasso of Truth (well, a more miniature one, technically, because your mother wouldn't dare give up her own), was a medium-sized vile of blue liquid clipped in its place. You unhooked it carefully, showing it off to the group as your smirk stretched into a satisfied grin.
"What are the great and powerful without their weaknesses? Blue Kryptonite, liquefied. When I first arrived home this morning, I had seen the news. Trouble here in the heart of Philidelphia, and I immediately recognized that... that..."
"That dumbass question mark on his chest?" Billy spoke up for you. In much more vulgar terms, sure, but you couldn't help but agree with an admitting nod.
"Yes, precisely. I knew what he was capable of, and I knew that you all more than likely didn't have the proper contingencies to stop him. So, I asked Damian for a favor..."
Freddy leaned in towards Billy, putting a hand up as if it'd conceal his bad whispers.
"Who's Damian?"
"Don't worry about it." Billy ignored, slapping him away lightly as you finished.
"...With this, we will surely defeat Bizarro. I can detain him, and I will convince him to leave this world in peace once again."
You opened the vile, neon blue smoke immediately pouring from it like dry-freeze until you began to dump some of the contents onto the blade of your sword.
"All I need for you all to do, is keep him busy. Until then, hold out your hands..."
They all did as told, watching as the rest of the liquid went dumped into their palms while you explained such actions.
"Should any of you come into physical combat with him, your touch will now weaken him, leaving him vulnerable. Easier to take down."
"And what about you?" Billy asked, his tone laced with worry for your well-being. Your gaze softened as you moved closer, hardly used to having to look up at him. But, you could admit, you found it a nice change of pace as you reached up to hold his face in your palm.
"I will do what I have to. Don't worry about me, okay?"
"That's literally impossible, but okay."
You chuckled.
"Fair. Your only job is to make sure all goes well. And... don't make anymore 'dumbass' decisions. You keep that green Kryptonite away from Bizzaro."
Billy nodded, laughing at your use of his improper language before floating upwards to complete his task.
"Alright, guys...!" He called down, his siblings following in suite while you motioned Anthea to remain with you at ground levels.
"Let's kick this guy's ass. For real this time, though."
──────────── •⚡️• ────────────
"Who is that?!" Rosa shouted as she stared at her TV in horror, scared for her superhero children tackling the evil Superman imposter with some random girl who had just shown up, as any mother would be.
Almost as soon as Victor moved to grab the keys for his van, the front door opened and in waltzed their children. Like ducks in a row, Mary, Pedro, Eugene, Darla, Freddy, Anthea, Billy, and-... ??
"Hi, mom!"
"Hey, Ma!"
"Hi, Mommy!"
"'Sup, Dad?"
The choruses of their greetings eased their nerves and tensions, but the sight of a new girl with glasses and her hair in a fancy, braided updo took them by surprise. She remained close to Billy, seemingly glued to his arm as he quietly attempted to convince her of the kind nature of his parents.
"Are you sure? I don't want to impose if it's trouble..."
"(Y/N), don't worry. They've been wanting to meet you for forever, you have nothing to worry about. They'll love you."
You looked towards him in surprise, already growing more anxious by the second.
"You told them about me?"
"Only the important stuff." He winked jokingly.
"Ah! My babies...!" Rosa shouted her greeting, more grateful than ever that they had returned safely, running over and planting a kiss on each one of their foreheads and pulling Darla and Anthea into bone crushing hugs.
So...! Uh," Victor started, already interested in your figure remaining quiet by the door. "Who's the new girl?"
Billy smiled this time, neither embarrassed nor annoyed by the inquiry of you while he proudly pulled your body into his by the waist.
"She's-"
"She's the coolest, ever!" Freddy announced, Darla practically jumping up and down as she agreed.
"Uh huh! And she's so pretty, just like I knew she'd be!"
"She literally sent that supervillain back to where he came from...! Like, without even breaking a sweat!" Eugene praised, leaving your cheeks to grow red with bashfulness.
"I have to admit, I think she'd be a good influence on Billy. She's super smart."
"And a good fighter."
Mary and Anthea were happy to admit such facts, Pedro the last to give a reserved shrug and a polite smile.
"I like her. She's dope."
Rosa and Victor were left to stand awkwardly, unsure of what to make of all the high-end words being spewed about like lightning while you struggled to fight back your grin.
"As I was saying...!" Billy exclaimed, giving his siblings the "Shut Up So I Can Talk" look. "This is (Y/N). My girlfriend."
Victor was the first to happily greet you, explaining how he'd heard so much about you, all good things (as you could clearly see), and that he was happy to have finally met you. Rosa, on the other hand, was leaned back with her eyes glued to the news on the TV. They would flicker back to you every now and again, making your heart beat faster in nerves until...
"Crazy question, I know... but...that doesn't happen to be you on the news... yeah?"
Immediately, you looked towards Billy, who could only shrug and scratch the back of his neck.
"The important stuff, huh?"
"Sorry...I tried..."
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose before giving a polite nod and announcing your introduction one final time...
"Yes, that... would be me. My name is (Y/N), otherwise known as Valkyrie. Daughter of Wonder Woman, Granddaughter of Zeus, and last born... of Themyscria."

Don't make me steal this idea and write a full-fledged book, Anon, I'll do it🤨 (I probably won't cuz writer's block likes to eat me alive). But seriously, I really hope you like this because again, I adore this, and I defo want more of your ideas/scenarios🥰🫶🏽.

Music blared throughout your room with you humming along without a care in the world. It was your playlist after all, so it was only natural that you couldn't help but at least bop along to the beat or belt out a random lyric every now and again while you finally gotten around to organizing your room.
Not that you thought it truly needed it, but you had a guest over, so it seemed to be the polite thing to do. Even when it was just Billy, and he insisted it wasn't necessary and then argued that his room was just as, if not, messier.
And when you wouldn't allow yourself to just relax, he shrugged and offered a hand, eager to pass the time quicker so that the two of you could spend more of it with each other rather than cleaning instead. And so far, his suggestion had proven right. His help moved things along so much faster than you anticipated as you lifted a purple hoodie into your hands.
Billy stopped when he realized you had, watching and then smiling in adoration when you cutely tipped your head to the side in decisiveness. It was such an adorable action, he couldn't even hide the red flush of his cheeks while you-
"Did you hear me?"
"...Hm?"
You huffed, shaking your head in dismay when it became clear he was not listening.
"Is this yours or mine?" Was what you had inquired. But, you swiftly rendered an answer from him useless anyway, having turned your attention back to the hoodie in your hands. One last, good stare at the item of clothing decided your own conclusion, giving a firm nod as you spoke.
"Nevermind, it's mine."
"What, that hoodie?" Billy chuckled, setting down his neat pile of your folded up clothes before walking around your bed, coming closer to you to inspect the purple fabric as well.
"No, it isn't."
"Pssh-!" You scoffed, whipping your head around to face the boy with an eyebrow raised in suspicion. "Why would you have a purple hoodie?"
"I happen to like purple, (Y/N)..." He announced, not even sparing to use any normal pet names he might have for you. You were tempted to point this out, maybe fake some hurt and offense, but he had beat you to it with even more "proof" of his ownership of the item at debate.
"...Which is exactly why I bought it, and it's been missing for forever now. Figures you would have it, though. I should've known."
"And what is that supposed to mean?" You huffed, leaving Billy to give unimpressed chuckles.
"You steal my clothes all of the time! I'm missing T-shirts, flannels, boxers, hoodies...!"
"Only 'cause they're more comfy..." You pouted, not even able to deny his words, considering some of the clothes folded up actually were some of the things he listed. Some of his things.
"And because-!"
"-They smell like me, yeah, I know." He teased, nudging you gently, which didn't really help the matter. You could smell the boy's cologne practically the second he had entered your room, and little did he know, you've been nearly wanting to tackle him with cuddles ever since.
"But don't you think maybe they'd lose my 'smell' after months of being with you?"
"Mmm..." You hummed.
"Including my hoodie?"
You thought the matter over for maybe five seconds, pulling the hoodie inwards towards your chest rather than holding it out like before. With a shake of the head, Billy now knew he was in for your normal yet entertaining antics.
"Yeah, maybe. If this was yours, which it isn't. I admit, I do take your clothes, but I don't remember ever taking a purple hoodie from you, so unless you're just being delulu right now, just admit that it's mine and deal with the fact that maybe..."
You pointed an index finger right towards his face.
"...Just maybe... you like taking some of my clothes because you miss me, too?"
"(Y/N)..." He sighed, one mixed with amusement and vexation, but you went on.
"Unless you're saying I don't smell good. You don't think I smell good?"
He burst into a cackle at your jokey accusation, an attempt to distract him from the real issue at hand.
"First of all, you smell delicious. Like, all of the time. So don't even go there with me."
"Aww, you flatter me~." You teased, giving him a gentle push on the shoulder before waltzing towards your closet, Billy trailing behind.
"And don't get me wrong, I've stolen hoodies from you, too. But not this one, which leads me to my second point: That's not yours."
Your lips pursed up while you scanned over the rest of your clothes for an extra/free hanger, not even sparing the boy a glance his way while you spoke. Your tone airy and light, as if you knew something he didn't.
"Oh yeah? And you're, like, genuinely-actually sure about that? For realsies?"
"Yes! I'm pretty sure if I recognize it, it would be mine. I don't know how else- no, what else could be possible."
"Damn, that's crazy, 'cause..." You turned to face him, a look of smugness across your face while you pointed to a very specific spot on the hoodie.
"...I happen to remember this stain. Mind, you, maybe you just recognize because I've worn it before. Because it's mine."
"Uh, okay," Billy had deepened his voice as a form of mockery, but it merely amused you internally while you attempted not to let a giggle slip. "What does that prove, exactly?"
"Dude..." You sighed, arms going limp as the hoodie practically dragged across the ground. "This stain has been here since I dropped red Jell-O on it. Last summer."
Billy's lips created a 'mncht' sound as they dropped, as if he were going to say something. And he was, but not right away as his green eyes shifted to the side and back to you again swiftly. A side-eye.
Did this boy just side eye you?
"Uh, yeah. Sure. So you took it from me last summer, then, which means you've had it a whole year. You can give it back now."
"Okay, sassy..." You mumbled, rolling your own (E/C) eyes. "I didn't take it from you. You're just being... annoying right now. I know it's mine, so just-"
"If you know it's yours, then how come you don't have the matching sweatpants?"
If the look on your face could be construed in meme format, it'd look a lot of something like this:

Because-
" ...What?!" You exploded, not even in annoyance. Just completely taken aback by such an outlandish statement. It was something crazy for you to imagine, Billy owning this hoodie. But him in a matching set of a purple hoodie and sweatpants?! You could almost laugh. What, did he have matching socks and a beanie, too?!
"Because I do!" He sealed his claim, not even kidding in the slightest as he nodded. "Yeah, they're at home right now, in my closet. I bet you my entire life's savings."
"Oh, four dollars? I'm rich." You responded, your voice oozing with sarcasm as he went on.
"(Y/N)...babe...I will literally walk home... get them, walk all the way back, and show you. Actually, no. I'll FaceTime Freddy and have him show you my closet so you can see."
You were only left to shake your head, hardly used to whenever Billy would be to one to grow dramatic, but slightly entertained nonetheless. Slowly growing irriated, but entertained.
"You... are such a liar, Billy Batson. And a bad one, too"
"Wha-?! Not even, oh my god...! You're just being stubborn."
"Stubborn?" You repeated, as if you couldn't believe what you were hearing.
"Yeah." He shrugged casually, no shame in his claim. "And you always, always have to be right, which... I get it, but-"
"-Billy," You interuppted before he could dig himself a deeper hole than he was (unrealizingly) already digging. "Just admit you want the hoodie. It's a nice hoodie, and like you said earlier, I totally understand the need to want your significant other's clothes."
"Yeah, no, really, I'd love to have it back."
You ignored this.
"Plus-"
"Also, I've never stolen any of your clothes for longer than a year, so-"
"-Plus...! I want you to know that it's totally okay to admit when you're wrong. Especially to me, because I love you."
". . ."
. . .
The silence lasted a little too long for your comfort, your brows furrowed when he wouldn't give an answer. Just a smirk and a slow nod as you spoke back up.
"Oh, so you're just not gonna say it back?"
"Oh, nah, like...I totally believe that you do." He answered with the same amount of smugness you had earlier, but at the moment, you didn't realize. Or, maybe you did, but you just didn't like it thrown back in your face. It made for a tension in the air that you couldn't quite place. Neither of you were actually mad or arguing with each other. But, you couldn't deny that you were growing exasperated with the bickering and...
Yeah, it was definitely affecting your ability to keep the proper mood and antics going with him, so you simply dropped it altogether to avoid any further (and real) qualms.
"You know what? Fine, I don't care, keep the stupid hoodie."
You were swift to brush by him, dropping it into his hands before moving towards the pile of your clothes on the bed that he had set down earlier.
Poor boy, who can't read your mind, nearly gave himself whiplash at the sudden push of the hoodie into his grasp, and you going by him. It left him very suddenly distraught, almost laughing at the lack of expression in your face. Not in a "something's funny" way, but more of in a nervous way.
He followed you carefully, watching you sit down and pull the pile of clothes into your lap. He clocked the knitting of your brows and the way your eyes no longer held that little... s o m e t h i n g, sparkle, shine, whatever he liked to admire. For just that moment in time, he thought that maybe he'd actually said something to hurt your feelings. He... didn't know what, exactly, but he'd spend the rest of this afternoon making up for it if that were so.
And then he saw that pout.
"Oh my god, (N/N), there is no way on this earth that you're mad that you can't have my hoodie that you've had for a year now..."
"I'm not!" You you defended, raising and dropping your hands in one smooth motion. Not even you believed your words, certainly not really expecting Billy to as you placed your chin atop the pile of clothes and pushed out that pout further.
Billy sat next to you upon seeing this, rolling his eyes playfully when you just scooted away.
". . ."
Your eyes went flickering in his direction, wide and almost puppy-like while he smiled warmly.
"You're mad."
"Mncht! I'm not, shut up...! I said you could have the hoodie, just hush and take it."
He scoffed, lifting and dropping the hoodie from and to his lap before letting it fall to the floor completely. An action that conveyed him saying, "Forget about it." Putting you first, as always.
"Quit it with the pouts~." He cooed, sliding himself closer to you which only resulted in you inching farther away.
"I'm not pouting, go away."
He stopped himself from going, "Yes, you are." knowing it'd only drive you away more. Instead, he smiled, taking the opportunity to admire your features. But mainly your lips, considering they were the most prominent of your face at the moment.
They looked so pretty and soft, the shape of them always something he continued to remain mesmerized by. Even before you started dating, he'd have to catch and force himself to look away before you saw him staring, not wanting to come off weirdly.
But now, that was something he didn't have to worry about anymore. Free to stare at them as casually as he pleased because now he knew how flustered it always seemed to make you. Like now, your body growing hot because you could literally feel your boyfriend's intense gaze on you.
"I'm not giving you a kiss." You wanted to say, but the words got caught in your throat while you turned your head to face away from him completely.
"Hey..." He called, but not really, his voice almost a whisper at an attempt to keep the calm aura that surrounded the two of you. As if he was trying not to scare you, to coax you into an act he knew you didn't have it within you to deny.
"What...?" You sighed, as though you were truly upset and annoyed with him.
"Look at me? Please?" He requested, and you simply proved his thoughts correct when you did just that. (H/C) hair falling into your face as you laid it against the pile of clothes in your lap, staring directly at him and hoping he couldn't see the way your cheeks reddened or how your eyes dilated when he stared you up and down and licked his lips.
"Gimmie' kiss." He requested immaturely.
"Ugh, no!" You scoffed, completely void of any further attraction to your boyfriend in the small second. Yes, you knew he was more than likely going to ask to kiss you. And while you wanted to scold him for such inappropriate timing or how it wasn't the true, proper way to apologize, you didn't, because you were too unflattered by his stupidity in asking for it.
"Nooo, c'mon, (N/N)...!" He whined playfully, engulfing you (and the clothes) into his arms before you could even think about running away. "Gimmie' a kiss, just one...! It'll make you feel better."
"You are so obnoxious."
"Oh, really?" He hummed, squishing his cheek up against your own. "I thought I was a liar?"
"You've been upgraded due to current circumstances."
He gave a laugh.
"Lit, now kiss me."
Again, you huffed and rolled those eyes of yours, leaving him to pull away in the slightest to stare again.
"Why would I when you can't even ask properly?"
You didn't get a response this time, once again able to sense him staring dead at you. At your eyes, at your lips, and back again. Grinning like a fool in love with adorable dimples making it hard for you not to do so back.
Like, really hard. You actually had to fight the urge, pursing up your lips even though they twitched, just threatening to release that smile you were desperately holding back.
"Go away." You repeated, clearly unable to mean it as he continued on with his loving gaze.
"C'mon, just one little make up kiss? Just a peck?"
And with a deadpanned gaze at his puckered lips, you genuinely couldn't help but give in.
"Christ, Billy..."
He practically dove into your touch the moment your hand caressed his cheek, eager to kiss you back. Especially because you had blessed him with a lot more than "just a peck." Well, in technical terms, it was multiple pecks and then a real kiss to seal the deal, leaving you to pull away, finally letting that laugh you had been trying so hard to hold in escape. He returned it, pecking your forehead just before you were out of reach as you spoke.
"Make up kiss..." You repeated with an amused tone. "Does that mean you're apologizing?"
"Yeah..." He sighed, totally whipped by the sweet events that just occurred as he stared into your eyes.
Natrually, you took some advantage of this.
"For being wrong?" You pushed, and he could only nod this time when it was clear he was hardly taking in your words with any real thought.
"So it is my hoodie. Awesome."
"Yup."
"Ha!" You laughed obnoxiously, standing up and walking towards your drawer to put the rest of your clothes away.
"No!" He swiftly tried to correct himself, but it came out more to be a cry of defeat as you giggled mercilessly.
As for the hoodie... yeah, that thing never got picked back up off of the floor.

This has got to be the cutest thing I've ever written, like, omgomg ty so much for requesting it!! Also, hello, two uploads in one go? I'm on a roll, I'm- 💃🏽😼🫶🏽♡!!!
Oh also, sorry if it seems too short, btw. I know it's a change, unlike my normal long and convoluted works, but... yeah :'D.

The Disconnect

Prompt: My random headcanon that pretty much just focuses on that odd... difference in vibe between Billy as himself vs when he's in his superhero form.
Timeline: Both movies
TW/Content: None, just me talking just to talk fr
Reader: None
Requested By: My damn self😼🫶🏽
Back to Master List

So like, duh, Moon and I have like... constant headcannons for like, every single person ever in the Shazam movies. And I did plan to write/list 'em out and post at some point. But this one is my biggest one, so I think it deserves its own post🤷🏽♀️.
Anyone who's seen just either one of the movies is pretty aware of that... weird little (but noticeable) disconnect between Asher Angel's Billy Batson and Zachary Levi's Shazam. Asher is a damn good Billy, while Zachary... he's good at being Shazam and acting like a kid who doesn't know what he's doing (which is the overall plot, ofc), but I just can't/don't believe him to be Asher's Billy, if that makes sense (??).
So, while yes, this is a little jarring for viewers, if you're anything like me, you know it's kind of not the end of the world and can be bypassed/looked over. Fixed, even, if had been given the proper attention to do such. And what better way to do that than through some good ol' writer brain🤷🏽♀️?
My in-media headcanon for why Billy acts so differently in his super-powered adult form is because he simply just becomes heaps more confident. He knows he's invincible to most things, he's got all these different and god-like powers and abilities, etcetc... So natrually, with those things comes an overwhelming and amazing sense of security, right? Therefore, leading to a surging amount of both confidence/ego and recklessness that you might not see come from some vulnerable, hard-knock-life-stricken, defensive kid.
It also gives him more freedom to come out of his shell (almost forces him to, really), hence why it becomes so much easier for him to talk to/interact with others while he's in his adult form. He almost wants to, because of that classic teenage boy need to show off (for the ladiesss😼🫶🏽⚡️). He gains the chance to actually be a kid, frfr, because he had to grow up and learn to care for himself so soon. Because, hell, it's not like he knew if his powers were a privilege he was gonna get to keep🤷🏽♀️. Gotta make the most of it.
Not to mention, poor boy has probably felt all alone and helpless all his life. Constantly having to do things on his own, constantly worried about how he's gonna get by and/or where he's gonna end up next. These abilities are like a free "out", if ykwim. He can essentially do whatever he wants, go wherever he wants now that he can just fly off somewhere...
I'd be eager to run around and do the most over the top shit, too, if it had been me. As Freddy once said, "I'd kill to have what you have...".
Plus, I mean, he is a teenager. A teenage boy, at that. I'm pretty sure no matter how hard and tall you've set up your shell, at the end of the day, if you randomly got superpowers n shit, you'd act a little bit out of normal character, too. Especially if your "normal character" are/is a bunch of walls n shit you've built up to protect yourself from the things that, you now no longer have to, because again... SUPERPOWERS!!
So, to try and wrap this all up, I, personally, am one to believe there's nothing a fanfic or a headcanon can't fix, hence... this lmao. And that's pretty much my way to try and fix/make sense of that disconnect between acting styles so I can properly hyperfixate in peace lmfao. And hopefully, now that you've seen this, you can, too :).
Okay, the end, that's it, goodbye🫶🏽😼.

Headcannons on all characters to come relatively soon, y'all, I promise🫡💕.
