Buck bonded with the queer man with the tape worm, learned about love from a gay married man who up and died on him, TK thought Buck was hitting on him, Maddie joked about his boy crush on Eddie and Josh, a gay man, was comfortable enough to joke about the dinner with Buck feeling like a set-up. Coincidence?? Hell no!! Bi/pan Buck has always been canonly alluded to! I'm hoping we see him finally addressing the fact that he's never been straight actually and not have a new awakening because the work has already been done. There's a lot of wink wink nudge nudge towards him not being straight. It would make sense (and funny) for him to be like "yeah I'm attracted to everyone I thought you guys knew??" and everyone's like we are surprised but also that totally makes sense.

just thinking about how this specific instagram story that oliver posted is what made me finally want to watch 911 because again me being bisexual and then yk hearing about a main character on a tv show going canonically bisexual on their seventh season and seeing some of the backlash from people on this storyline for buck’s character and seeing how oliver responded in such a way that goes on to defend the representation as well as point out how the show is about “love and inclusion. It’s featured queer relationships from the very beginning…” and the final paragraph just saying “If one other character finding a new facet to his sexuality and realising his bisexuality is your deal breaker - I fear you’ve missed the entire point of the show. You are not required to announce your departure.”
beatutiful beautiful beautiful words and again such a lovely way to express your love for the fans and again now fans can find themselves identifying even more with buck and just being again able to have this new bisexual representation with one of the main characters on the show on top of the queer representation that has already been present on the show from the very beginning and again it help in brining in an influx of new fans and a new audience to the show/fandom including myself so that’s always nice to have people fall in love with a show that has been airing for years now and for the new fans to find the same love for the show that’s had people hooked on from the very beginning
anyways I love oliver stark very much and again one of the many reasons I love my beloved buck 🥹💙🩷💜

My beloved Bucktommies, hear me out for I have rambled about some important stuff ahead related to Tommy's comeback situation for S8:
Let's not forget that the Access Hollywood interview with Lou Ferrigno Jr. and Oliver Stark would never have been arranged if Buck and Tommy's love story wasn't meant to be long-term, or continue developing further into the next season. It was a small but still a very crucial piece of press.
Why? Because it's not like it was done right after 7x04 when the hype around bi-Buck was at its peak. Instead, it was done during the second-half of the season, that too when the Bobby-focused episodes were airing. Plus, it was a major TV network interview, not some random podcast/youtube interview!
Also, they could have only had Oliver out there if the showrunner or PR team thought Lou as Tommy was inconsequential to this storyline. They evidently wanted to create buzz not only around Buck's bisexual arc but around his romance with Tommy as well, with this press. Why do all of that if the character was going to disappear shortly?
I am not clear about how it all works but I am sure Tim and his team must have discussed Tommy's future when they decided to extend Lou's contract beyond the pre-decided 4 episode appearances last season. Because why even bother showing that tiny dinner scene with Tevan in the finale if they didn't want to show us where the relationship stood?
And don't let the naysayers get into your head and compare this with the happy Buck-Natalia scene from the season 6 finale and how she was written off after that. Remember that the writers supposedly wrote that episode as a possible series finale given the uncertainty around the show's future after Fox cancelled it. But then ABC picked it up and the writers had to resume the storylines from where they had left them off.
The actress playing Natalia refused to come back, probably because I am assuming she thought her part was done and the show was supposed to end and so she took up other work. Plus there was the whole strike thing too in between. She was just a supporting character and her contract extension may not have been under consideration while they were filming season 6, because they didn't know for sure at the time if another network would renew them for a new season. And because of her refusal they had to scrap that storyline later.
The situation is quite different with Lou. The season 8 renewal announcement came early when the first-half of season 7 was on air. Therefore, Tim and the writers have had the luxury to put some plans in place for the upcoming season in advance because the renewal was official. And this must include whether or not they wanted to keep Tommy around post season 7!
And if Lou agreed to do 2 more episodes last season, I believe he must have agreed to be there for season 8 too — because if the last two episodes of S7 have served any purpose, it has been to tell us that Buck and Tommy are going strong and even the firefam approves of their relationship, deliberately cementing their relationship status as they move forward into the upcoming season.
So this can't have been all for nothing. The only reason Tommy wouldn't be in S8 is if Lou himself declined or if the filming dates were clashing with his other projects, none of which seems to be likely given the points I have discussed above. Besides, we all know how deeply invested Lou is in playing Tommy and passionate about his storyline with Buck. He wouldn't quit a role that's clearly so important and dear to him just because of the BoBs' stupid vendetta against him; he has big dreams for his career to let this childish hate towards him get in the way of a good opportunity. And he knows and sees how much we as his fans love, support, and appreciate him!
So to conclude, I have faith Tommy will be back! He has to be!!! 💫

9-1-1 Season 7 Post-Mortem
Mostly because I want to put my thoughts in order. Full disclosure: I'm really not thrilled with a lot of the choices this season made, but I'm also not at the 'fuck this show I hate it now' level either. The primary, overarching issue, IMO, is that they tried to stuff a full season's worth of plot into ten episodes, and the pacing and emotional continuity suffered badly. And also there were some writing choices that were simply deranged (and hopefully would have been reworked had they not been laying down the tracks in front of the speeding train, so to speak).
(Cut for me rambling at length)
So: Bobby and Athena were largely really solidly written. The cruise ship disaster was great: campy and OTT, but in a fun way. Their marital issues and the eventual resolution felt like a natural continuation of issues they've had in the past. Bobby Begins 3.0 was a great episode other than the cartel element, which was some ill-considered racial stereotyping (I've said it before and I'll say it again: you could have had the antagonists in that episode be a bunch of angry locals threatening people for tresspassing on their property, and the whole thing would have been 100% less gross without actually changing much of the plot. Really felt like Tim was cribbing from the similar Lone Star arc, which was also lazy and racist). Amir was a fantastic character, and while I could have done without that last scene of him offering Bobby absolution, I feel like he was generally allowed to be both gracious and rightfully angry. The cop Athena stuff in the finale was... less great, but also to be expected. I would have liked much less of that and much more time spent at Bobby's bedside.
(I'm really sad about the house fire mostly because that was one of my favorite sets, but I do appreciate the poetry of the parallel, with Bobby actually managing to get his wife out this time. Though I do wonder where Harry was that night, lmao.)
Hen was similarly wonderful. I really liked getting to see her wrestle with the responsibility of being captain, and the fallout of the car accident scene. In a vacuum, I actually like Ortiz as a villain - a complicated one, with sympathetic motivations, but still ostentatiously cruel. Were it not for the fact that there are basically NO latine characters other than Eddie who aren't villains this season, it would have been great. ALAS.
Did not love the rescue dog/foster child parallel with Mara. Otherwise really loved getting to see her settle in with the Wilsons, and I'm really glad that we got to see Chim and Maddie take her in instead of leaving her at the group home by the end of the season. Really leaned into the found family element, and Chim taking care of his best friend's child in the same way that Mrs. Lee did for him.
CHIM! Chim my beloved. 'There Goes The Groom' is the one episode that I have basically no issues with at all. The hallucinatory trip through Los Angeles, wrestling with Doug's ghost, was gorgeous. Bringing back Kevin - also gorgeous. I loved that we see the Lees explicitly framed as his real family (and am spitefully glad that his bio dad was nowhere to be found. Fuck that guy.) Kenny continues to be, IMO, the best actor on this show. He killed it. We need so many more Chim-centric episodes, because they're always SO good. He can make both humor and pathos feel so natural and human. Give us more Chim!
And of course on to Buck's bisexual arc, which was... so painfully Buck, lmao. Full disclosure: I have a lot of trouble rewatching 7x04 and 7x05 because the secondhand embarrassment is just too much for me, but objectively it feels very right and in character for him. LOVED the first kiss scene, with his dawning realization of what's about to happen and his softly stunned joy afterward. His coming out scenes with both Maddie and Eddie were lovely and perfectly appropriate to both relationships. I really liked him taking the initiative to reach out to Tommy to apologize and ask for a second chance after he fucked up their first date. Loved Tommy showing up at the hospital after what was clearly a long, miserable shift.
Their date in the finale didn't really land for me mostly because of where it was placed in the episode; if they did something with the two of them after Buck spent the entire day at Bobby's bedside waiting to see if he was going to live, it would have felt a lot more natural to me to have them exhaustedly eating takeout on the couch or something instead of having a formal sit-down date with wine and place settings. Intentionally or not, that made it feel like they're still on Date Behavior with each other and despite some gestures toward emotional vulnerability, they're not quite there yet - as seen by Buck steering the conversation back to flirting and innuendo. My overall feeling on the relationship at this point is that it's cute, but I'm not seeing any real depth of feeling between them yet.
Buck and Eddie on the other hand - look, despite my many MANY issues with Eddie's plot this season, I loved how his relationship with Buck was written. I love the intimacy and familiarity of how they are together, I loved the way Eddie let himself lean on Buck, I loved how Buck is clearly positioned as an integral part of the Diaz family.
Unfortunately, that's really the only thing I loved about Eddie's plot this season. His relationship with Marisol was ultimately pointless; she was never fleshed out enough to feel like a real character, and we never even see the fallout of Eddie's cheating with regard to her; it's all Chris. The Kim stuff strained credulity, and also I never felt like he got any kind of emotional catharsis or resolution through it; he still hasn't really confronted any of his issues about Shannon, about their marriage and how it ended. That whole arc felt really wobbly in terms of tone, as well: using plot elements of a very famous psychological thriller without actually acknowledging any of the creepiness of it. I would have liked it to lean into that more especially with the scene where Kim dresses up as Shannon, an objectively creepy and unhinged thing to do.
The Diaz parents handled the Chris thing in a selfish and opportunistic way that felt both disappointing and inevitable. Hopefully that's going to be a hook for the next season and Eddie actually confronting them, but overall Eddie's plot this season really felt like they just tossed a bunch of balls up in the air and mostly failed to catch them.
Gerrard - look, I'm not that worried about Gerrard. I could have done without him, but ultimately he's going to stick around just long enough to make his inevitable defeat satisfying. At least, that's my hope.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 you got this sweetheart, 15 sentences for me 😘
🫡 Hello, Sir. My beloved. Some Bi Buck Sentences for you. Please enjoy Buck having a very awkward squirmy moment with his bestie. 💞
“So.” Eddie sets two beers on the coffee table and flops down on the couch. “Have you decided yet?”  “Uh, yeah. I think I have.” Buck reaches for his next slice of sausage and mushroom pizza, bringing it to his mouth and chewing slowly. After another bite he becomes aware of Eddie’s eyes on him, staring and waiting for a response. “Um, sorry.” “It’s fine, man. If you need more time…” Eddie politely trails off, which Buck appreciates more than he can say. He’s glad to have a best friend that doesn’t rush him through things and gives him space to think. Through the process of elimination, Buck came to the conclusion that ‘bisexual’ is the term that fits him best. That settles the anxious question buzzing through his veins. When he reads the definition, tries it for himself, it’s the one that wraps around him like a second skin. The one that makes his shoulders relax, eases the knot in his chest to something soft and welcoming. It has him sitting the tiniest bit taller and grinning a little wider. He feels correct. Right. Like he’s slotting in a missing piece he didn’t know he needed. The problem, if one could really call it that, is expressing that out loud. Being able to actively state ‘I’m bisexual’ as part of who he is instead of passively agreeing when someone asks if he’s bi.  Maybe Eddie, Buck’s constant safe space, is the place to start. Here in the belly of the home that’s always made him feel like himself, like he’s welcome no matter what condition he’s in. Where he’s never felt like a guest.  “No, I don’t need more time. I- I know. I do. It’s just-” He tosses his pizza back in the box with a frustrated sigh. “This is going to sound so stupid, Eds. I can’t, y’know, seem to say it out loud.” Buck chances a look at Eddie who looks equally confused as he shifts closer to Buck. Eddie hesitantly reaches one hand over, hovering near Buck’s forearm but then abruptly pulls back.  Oh, god, what if I’ve fucked this all up? Does Eddie feel weird about us now? He said he was fine, but ohhhh god.

so do you ship buddie too?
Tumblr media
short answer? no. long answer? not yet.
i'm watching 9-1-1 for the first time atm - i started with season 7 and now i'm up to season 4; there's been a handful of moments since eddie came on the scene where i've seen their potential, but ngl the flirting and chemistry has felt one-sided for our clueless bisexual buck. i do love seeing all the bisexual buck subtext nonetheless. from what i've seen on tumblr a whole lot happens in seasons 4-6 so i'm not saying never, but atm i just enjoy their friendship and buck's growing role as a kind of father figure to chris (tbh the post-tsunami scene where eddie brings chris to the loft was the first time i thought there might be something on eddie's side, but all things considered it still felt platonic for him; i think it has a lot to do with the performances - oliver seems to really lean into the flirty vibes etc. while ryan seems almost non-reactive or immune to it a lot of the time imho, which gives unrequited vibes which i actually love for buck's character). so i'm curious to see if i do ship them by the end of season 6, but i'm about to watch Buck Begins and mostly i'm just loving buck's journey.
it's also a strange thing to be watching old seasons of a show with a prominent mlm ship knowing that in later seasons one half of that ship will be canonised queer and get a boyfriend (my beloved tommy who i adore, as do i his relationship with buck and the narrative weaving them together and everything they're giving us with buck's storyline). i think new fans who start with season 7 before venturing back to watch the earlier seasons are having a very different viewing experience to those who have loved buddie for years and now either find themselves making room in their hearts for tommy/bucktommy, or find themselves disappointed. i for one am glad to have begun my 9-1-1 journey with season 7 and would highly reccommend it.

Bestie my beloved I followed you for the robron shenanigans and all I can think about is thinking of starting that firefighting show.
Is it good? 👀
I'm guessing you mean 911 since that's kind of taken over my brain (and blog) lately.
I have to be honest, I was more of a casual viewer up until about 6 weeks ago (ish?) when this happened
Tumblr media
and Buck (on the right) had his bisexual awakening. And his story so far has been just textbook Queer JOY. The man has always been a human ray of sunshine, but now he's dating a hot firefighter/pilot with a cleft who makes bad fake mouth static? He's GLOWING.
But this is season 7 (it's already been renewed for season 8 though) and A LOT has happened since the first ep (caught in a tsunami, crushed by a firetruck, struck by lightning - and that's just Buck).
It has its ups and downs (like any show i suppose) but if you're looking for something to watch the next few weeks, give it a shot! Just don't expect timelines that make sense or realistic firefighting/emergencies - we don't do that here.
There is also 911 lone star, set in Texas - hence the lone star thing - that's 4 seasons now and they're filming season 5 and has these cuties (among others)
Tumblr media
and even more batshit crazy emergencies and fucked up timelines.

It being said Buck and T*mmy are still dating and getting to know each other, and Eddie feeling left out is all well and good. It’s at the least a decent start to developing something (not that I want that anymore, but still).
However, couple those words with L*u FJ having not been seen on set at all… I don’t know how much of it I’m believing will stretch behind the first three episodes. I’m not trying to give Tim credit for being sneaky or anything, and I’m still not looking to watch the premiere. I’m going to hold off, but how far under the radar can they truly fly with his filming, and why would they want to, given Buck is openly bisexual and there was a positive reaction to the relationship even with Buddies being unhappy?
There’s no reason for me to believe L*u is so beloved by Tim and ABC that they’re sneaking him on and off set. I’m not saying he can’t have “snuck” on once or twice, but again… for what reason? No one in the cast is talking about him, the behind the scenes hadn’t really posted him, and no one has spotted him on set. So how well can the relationship be going if the actor playing Buck’s boyfriend has not been seen, heard, nor mentioned anywhere near the show this season?
The only way this supposed developing relationship keeps going, is if it’s over the phone or we get it in slices where T*mmy is never actually present. As in, Buck tells Eddie he’s meeting up with T*mmy, yet we never see them together. Or we see Oliver sharing the screen with a stand-in, and we only get arial shots of them.
I guess they could always be indoors. In a car or something, but idk. Something is very fishy. Tim and co either managed to slip that man on and off set for weeks, or they’re talking around a quick breakup. Because “getting to know each other” and “not much time has passed” equals Buck and T*mmy don’t know each other enough to have developed a deep connection. Which allows writers to write both an attempt for Buck to make it work and a breakup within the first 3-5 episodes without making the general audience feel like it ended abruptly or was pointless.
Buddie may not happen even if Eddie comes out this season, but if they do want to get rid of T*mmy, I will admit I can see them doing it this way. It would avoid starting the season with Buck being single yet again (which truly would not be an issue if they didn’t try shoving him with a woman every damn season in earlier seasons), but also give BT stans a little food. Make Buck try and want it to work, but ultimately have it fail. That also tells general audiences who are neutral about him “suddenly” being “gay” that he is serious about wanting to date men, but couldn’t make it work with the first one he dated.
Whether or not Buddie will be a result? I don’t know, but I can’t say I’m on team hopeful, lol. I think this is the last shot, and unless they cast partners for Buck and Eddie that knock it out of the fucking park in terms of chemistry, I do not see s8 being the place to start anew yet again. So Buddie really and truly makes the most sense if Buck and T*mmy breakup and Eddie comes out. Main characters getting together is tv normalcy.
There isn’t a single show or film in history where the mains don’t end up together, that’s why they’re mains. And if they wanted an outside relationship, T*mmy unfortunately is the only other choice outside of Josh, because he’s already here. So they either gotta make T*mmy worth the choice to not have Buddie, or they make Buck single and have Josh and Eddie randomly get together. Which would lows be just as unnecessary as BT, but at least Josh is likable.
Anyway, that’s my 5¢. They’re either setting BT up to be roadkill, or they did somehow manage to sneak that man on set for weeks, thus cementing the implication he will become an important character. Because again, there is no reason a recurring love interest is important enough to hide on set, just because he’s unliked by some fans. They didn’t do that with Edy, and people wanted her head on a fucking spike.

hi hello i have some words to share!! very exciting!
i've found myself having lots to say about a certain beloved bisexual and the idea for this fic has stuck in my head for like three days now. so here's a number of sentences with a bit extra under the cut <3
“Well…we used to date.” “You and Taylor?” Tommy looks appraisingly at the television. “She is beautiful.” “Yeah...there were just a number of things that didn’t really fit.” Buck looks up into Tommy’s eyes. “Guess it kinda worked in my favor, though.” Tommy’s smile is back, and this time, it’s Buck who reaches out to touch his face. Tilting his jaw slightly, he slots their lips together tentatively. Their first kiss the other day was wonderful and everything Buck needed at the time. But now, he’s ready to push further. Tommy kisses him back, and Buck feels himself move closer towards him, opening up to let him in.
“Evan,” Tommy breathes, as Buck grows more fervent with his touch. He laughs into the next kiss he places on Tommy’s mouth. “Why do you call me that?” Buck pulls back slightly, allowing them to catch their breath. “Evan? It’s your name, isn’t it?” “Well, yeah, but people don’t really call me that. It’s almost always —“ “Buck, yeah.” Tommy shrugs. “But, I like Evan." Buck catches Tommy looking down at his lips again, and he moves to catch his mouth once more.
thank you for tagging me! @bigassbowlingballhead
if you liked this, you may enjoy my fic, questioning
open tag!

hi! I hope it's okay to ask you things. I was wondering if you have any thoughts of Tommy as a Daddy since he's here and in Buck's life and (AND ALSO BUCK IS BISEXUAL!!!! but that's a celebration for another ask)
K, babe, beloved. I'm feral for Tommy rn. And so yes. Here are some thoughts:
1. He is big. Big BIG. He can manhandle Evan Buckley in the way that dork deserves to be manhandled, and I fully believe could handle a big 'ol tantrum with no problem. Little boy flops to the ground and becomes dead weight, Tommy can handle it no problem.
2. He has been nothing but kind and patient, which leads me to believe that big man would be the softest daddy (Buck deserves kindness, patience, and softness) (but also Tommy might need to practice being firm. Talk to Bobby, my guy, he's soft and firm).
3. Eddie and Tommy can actually co-big little boy Buck too. I'd be okay with that also.
(Also screams about bi Buck. 2 TWO queer main cast characters. TWO)
