You were covered in blankets, animal pelts, and anything else that might bring you some warmth. Life in the Jabari mountains was harsh, you weren’t used to this kind of blistering cold. Even in America, winters were not like this. As a liaison for the Avengers and as princess Shuri’s lover, you had no choice but to stay after Namor’s attack. You wanted nothing more than to remain by the princess’s side, offering your support and love. However, all you could do right now was wait for Shuri, Nakia, and Riri to return to the mountains.
Shuri had begged you to remain in the mountains as a form of protection for her people, reassuring you that if anything were to happen you’d be the first to know. You felt your heart clench at the idea of the synthetic heart-shaped herb doing damage to your lover. There were so many things that could go wrong.
Internal Bleeding, chemical poisoning, blindness, heart failure, the list goes on. And you wouldn’t be there to care for her.
You took a deep breath trying to calm your racing nerves, you relaxed your fist and as the lion’s pelt fell from your shoulders you were met with a bone-chilling breeze that made your teeth chatter and your nipples pebble against your shirt. You found yourself missing the warm bed that you and Shuri shared, although the Jabari tribe did everything to make sure you were comfortable the bed lacked Shuri’s smell of jasmine and cacao butter.
“Damn you M’baku,” you muttered under your breath racing to grab the pelt. “Who in their right mind would stay here willingly.”
“Aww is my little American cold,” a voice giggled.
“Shuri,” you gasped running to her, forgetting the teeth-chattering temperature. “You’re okay! Thank god.”
“Yes, I told you. You should have more faith in me, my love.”
As you clashed with her, you failed to notice the black suit. You were hit with small knife-like, icy pains as your skin came into contact with her.
“What the-”
You finally noticed what she was wearing: a skin-tight vibranium suit outlining her thin, muscular frame. You also took in what was paining you, her suit was littered with metal, metal that was cold to the touch.
“Can you take that thing off so I can hug you properly,” you huffed.
She smirked, licking her lips, “I would think that you would enjoy feeling me in this.”
Her hands found your waist and her newfound strength didn’t miss you. Her grip was, not painful, but stronger. You doubt she even noticed. You moved your hands from her chest to her neck, placing a small peck on her cheek, one that she leaned into, unconsciously seeking you.
“My love, in any other situation I would pounce on you but I’m freezing. Do you see how ashy I am? No matter how much lotion I put on this cold fights against,” you complained. “On top of that-”
“So your cold,” she deadpanned lovingly with a raised eyebrow.
“I’m fucking freezing,” you whined, jumping up and down.
She sighed and in the blink of an eye, her suit disappeared, leaving her in skin-tight, black performance gear. She could now feel your pebbled nipples against her body, she could feel the goosebumps littering your skin, and she could also properly feel your ass.
“My poor little princess,” she pouted sarcastically, groping and kneading you, before placing a kiss on your forehead and trailing down to kiss your neck, her hands coming up to hold your upper back.
“Perhaps there’s a way we can heat each other up,” she smirked before walking toward the bed.
Her hips swayed in a newfound grace and the skin-tight clothing allowed you to follow her frame perfectly. You followed behind dutifully, taking off your shirt and bonnet as you approached her. Your chest began to rise and fall quicker following the increased speed of your heart and, despite the frigid temperatures, you felt a familiar heat enter your abdomen.
“Come on my princess,” the new queen commanded as she sat on the bed with her back against the wall.
Her eyes never left you and as you crawled to her, placing yourself on her lap, you couldn’t help but shiver. Before, you were stronger, physically at least. Now, with the strength of the Black Panther, Shuri matched you, possibly even beat you, in pure strength and that made the tingles spread from your spine to your core faster than ever.
You felt her hands run through your hair, forcing you to kiss her. Your tongues clashed and you could practically taste the coffee she drinks every day. You could feel her curls against your forehead, tickling your skin and comforting you, reminding you that this was yours. She was yours. Her tongue continued to twirl around yours, hungrily searching for something. While the heat rose and the breaths quickened, the warmth from your mouths created small clouds of condensation that made Shuri’s heart quicken in anticipation. The smell of cocoa butter and jasmine filled your nose and as saliva dribbled down your chin, your hands reached down in between you, trying to find the hem of her shirt.
“Shit,” you whimpered, as her left hand gripped your braids and pulled.
“What do you think you’re doing,” she panted, catching her breath. “Hmm?”
Her left hand stayed in your hair while the right one caressed your waist. Holding you close, breathing in your scent, while feeling your chest rise and fall against her was one of the queen’s favorite things.
“I want to see you,” you groaned, your hands still on her waist, too scared to move them.
“Mmm,” she groaned, kissing your neck. “You know what I want, sthandwa?”
“What,” you gasped, as you felt her flick your nipples.
“I want to see you fall apart on my thigh.”
Sealing her request, she placed you on her thigh and leaned against the wall, relaxing. When you stayed still in bewilderment the new Black Panther grew impatient, smacking your ass. As it jiggled against her thigh Shuri felt a wave of pleasure shoot through her.
“Fuck,” you whined, feeling the slick, expensive polyester against your silk shorts as you moved.
“Come on,” Shuri groaned. “You know how I like it, baby.”
She gripped your hips, clawing at your thin pants.
“Bast help me. Dressing like a whore and wondering why you’re so fucking cold,” she gritted out before allowing her mouth to grab ahold of one of your nipples.
“Shuri,” you gasped, hips stilling to arch your back.
“What’s my name,” she growled, pulling your hair once more. “Move your hips baby.”
Your slick seeped through your pants as the coil in your stomach began building. Your hips whined into her thigh and your hands dug into her shoulders, searching for support. You felt her hands rubbing up and down your sides as she whispered Xhosa into your ear. Fire began to spread through your fingertips and your toes, slowly creeping up toward your spine. Your palms dug into Shuri’s shoulders before your nails curled and began digging too.
"Ndingubani igama lam," she whispered, her grip on your braids tightening even more.
“My queen,” you whimpered, feeling your eyes roll back.
Shuri relished in watching you get off. She loved how your nipples stuck out when you arched your back, she loved how breathy your whines got when you were about to cum, and she loved how frustrated and pouty you became when she decided to be mean. Most importantly she loved that all this came from her, every sensation you relished couldn’t be felt without her being there, without her holding you. She gazed at your erotic figure and felt her stomach tighten in bliss.
“I want you. I want to taste you. Fuck,” you begged, the feeling of her body making you high. “Please. Please let me taste it.”
Shuri hissed at your words. With her hands on your waist, she could feel your muscles contracting and relaxing, trying to get a release. Your gasps and moans went straight from her ears to her core. She watched, arms holding you close, as your head tipped back, your stomach quivering, breath leaving your lips in small puffs of steam. She listened while your moans got louder, hearing her name get whinier, her breathing becoming faster as if syncing with your body. She felt you as your muscles moved, as your delightful juices seeped through her pants, watching while your breasts jiggled in front of her.
“Come on baby,” she pushed, wrapping her hands around your neck, bringing you closer so she could whisper in your ear. “Give me one, I know you can do that for me. You want to taste me, don’t you? You want my pussy in your mouth? Then cum all pretty for me, intombazana.”
Red hot explosions entered your bloodstream and coursed throughout your body at her words. Shuri always knew how to get you over the edge, her beautiful accent winding you up and breaking you down in the most pleasurable ways.
“That’s it,” she whimpered. “Fuck.”
Your hips stilled finally and you felt a thankfulness enter your chest as Shuri allowed you to catch your breath. Time slowed as she looked at you, fucked out and pleasured by her. You didn’t realize she was staring until you felt her lips on yours.
Your tongues were locked once again, sucking and twirling around each other. Your fingers worked quickly, finding the hem of her shirt and pulling up, careful not to let it catch on her earrings. As you pulled up, your knuckles grazed her silky smooth skin, luxuriously cared for with body butters and oils only royalty could buy. You wasted no time in attaching yourself to one of her nipples causing her to arch her back into you. Your tongue flicked and swirled around her perky bud while teasing the other one with your fingers.
“Le intombazana izoba kukufa kwam,” she breathed out repeatedly as her hips rolled, trying to find some friction.
She gripped your waist once again and pushed herself down, laying against the pillows. As she moved, her thigh grazed your core once more making your abdomen clench at the sudden overstimulation.
“Pleasure your queen, gugu’lami” Shuri groaned, watching you with hooded eyes.
Your heart fluttered at her command, wanting nothing more than to see her relaxed. You moved in between her legs, gripping her pants and placing a kiss above her belly button before quickly stripping her.
“I would want nothing more, ubungangamsha bakho,” you grinned, kissing her right ankle.
As you looked down at her you could see her hazy eyes, gazing up at you through her beautiful curly hair. A simple, silver anklet you had gotten her lay loose around her ankle, shocking your lips with the coolness of it.
Coming down and kissing her through her underwear, you licked and nipped at the flesh hiding underneath the fabric, smiling when you felt her legs on your shoulders.
“I want to hear you speak Xhosa more often, my love,” the young queen preened as she arched her back. “You coul- fuck!”
You pushed her underwear to the side and made direct contact with her core, placing an open mouth kiss on her slit.
“I could what, baby,” you smirked softly before licking her clit, feeling yourself salivate at the taste, before you wrapped your hand around her right thigh.
Shuri jumped at the cold rings on your finger, the thin bands providing a small shock to her system. She could feel the promise ring she had given you dig into her flesh, making her see stars. Her Majesty couldn’t finish her sentence even if she tried, the words lost in her brain. No matter how brilliant or smart she is, you had a way of making her go dumb.
She could feel the pleasure building up at the base of her spine and, as you looked up, you could see the steam leaving her mouth, her chest rising then falling in short bursts. Her head was tipped back and her hands gripped the pillows beside her while her toes curled against your back. Her juices and your saliva began to run down your chin and onto the bed, creating a vulgar wet spot between her legs.
“What would people think,” you started. “If they saw that I could taste the glorious Black Panther. How lucky would they think I am.”
You got high off of the thought. That you: a young black-American woman, got to see the Queen of Wakanda at her most vulnerable. That you got to have her cum dripping from your mouth. That you had her heart.
You could feel Shuri’s legs begin to flex, her newfound strength allowing her to truly suffocate you. Small whines left her lips as you continued to lap at her clit, fingers gripping your braids in an attempt to force you closer to her.
“Don’t be a brat today, Nkosazana. I swear, my love if you stop right now,” she paused to whine when you finally pushed your fingers into her. “I won’t let you cum till your fucking American holiday about - hah.”
Your fingers dug into her g-spot with laser precision, the idea of being a brat and edging her had crossed your mind but, the idea of her falling apart after so much stress had you biting your lip and crossing your legs.
Her hips began to roll into your tongue, legs spreading farther, her hands buried in your hair, trying to get her release faster.
The feeling of her using you like this had your clit throbbing and your heart beating.
Use me. Use me! USE ME!
It was all you could think as she rode your face to completion.
Shuri’s pleasure increased tenfold when she saw your face. She knew what you were thinking the moment your eyes rolled back, the moment you gripped her thighs to pull her closer to your face. The pleasure in her abdomen burned and simmered as she watched you, before boiling over into her arteries. Heat shot to her brain and made her legs close around your face. She came without warning. Your hands tightened around her thighs as you watched her face. Mouth open and eyes closed, hair draped on her forehead, mixing with her eyelashes. Drool began to leave the corners of her mouth before she closed it and swallowed. Hard.
Your eyes followed her throat before returning to look at her face.
“Get up here, gugu’lami,” Shuri smiled, before it quickly become a frown. “Wai-ah!”
Your mouth returned to her slit, lapping up the juices that leaked, evidence of her orgasm. You licked until you were sure that it was all gone and none was wasted, before coming up for air.
“You brat,” she glared at you, still between her legs, arms now resting on her stomach.
The small, cool-toned light that made it into the room, hit Shuri’s skin beautifully, giving it a shine like silver. Her lips, slightly parted, were lustfully swollen, proof of your lips on hers.  You were so busy drinking in her beauty that you didn’t notice the way she was looking at you. Love shone in her eyes as she found comfort in your warmth.
“I had to make sure it was all gone, would you have left any,” you glared back playfully, placing a kiss on her torso.
Shuri’s fingers wandered into your hair as she continued to gaze at you lovingly. Watching how content you looked with just being with her. It was in these moments when Shuri was reminded how much you meant to her, how much she loves you.
“When this is all done,” Shuri swallowed. “I’m gonna marry you.”

Hi! Can I request a t’challa x reader were this recently takes place after avengers endgame were the reader tells & introduces t’challa and shuri to t’challa and reader’s daughter
Sure thing! This is written for a Black AFAB reader living in America. Fluffy PG 13 stuff.
Your first embrace after five years was nothing short of life-giving. You trembled in his arms, breathing in his warmth and choking up with incoming sobs. Your tears soaked up the soft fabric of the olive hoodie he wore to blend in with the neighborhood, and he let you wrap your legs around him when he lifted you up.
The weather was a little warmer than usual, and the air was filled with distant conversation between people getting reunited with their families, just as they were doing... and nobody batted an eye when they saw people crying and hugging each other on the street.
The sun lit up T'Challa's tight curls and eyelashes as you pulled apart slightly, and you still couldn't believe it. It was the same man you thought you would never see again... well, except in your daughter.
T'Challa still didn't know about her. And neither did Shuri.
Your tears still flowed, because you just saw Shuri, who had also come all the way to the US to see you again. You collided with her, kissing her forehead and cuddling her like she would disappear again. Having a baby didn't make it any easier to live without the first.
The three of you hugged again, and you let go of Shuri only to kiss T'Challa for the first time in five years.
"Eww!" Shuri cried in mock disgust, seeing PDA less than six feet away from herself.
The nostalgia of hearing Shuri's chatter, and feeling T'Challa's body against yours hit you again. Bast, you had missed this dearly.
~
You had planned this out from the moment you recovered from the shock of people reappearing out of thin air. Both the siblings were unsuspecting and unassuming of what you were up to even as you walked up to the school at the outreach center.
Shuri was busy playing with a cat that had snuggled up to her in the middle of the park that you were all now in, while you and T'Challa watched, holding hands. He lazily fingered the beads on your braids, taking in how you had changed through the years. You had grown plumper with some post pregnancy fat still curling in love handles around your waist. He seemed to like it, as he smiled when his long fingers brushed subtly, but sensually over your midriff and hips.
The causative of half your stretch marks was about to arrive from her last lesson in school in less than a minute now, and you couldn't wait to see her, now more than ever.
The bell rang, and a high-pitched chorus of yelling ensued, signaling the end of the school day for the little ones. T'Challa smiled at the noise and looked at your expression. Your mischievous smile made him frown a little in suspicion.
"Hey- where are you going?" Shuri called after the tabby as it rushed off to the entrance of the park, which was near the school gate. Children rushed into their parents' arms in the distance, while some rushed out into the play area in the park. The cat followed some first graders around as they opened their tiny bags to bring out various bits of food that they had diligently saved during recess.
Both of them grinned at the sight, but you were focused on the one little girl with her hair done up in two little puffs by none other than you. She giggled and cuddled the cat before she looked up and saw you.
And when you glanced at T'Challa you thought, he knows. The look on T'Challa's face was one of dawning realization as the little girl came running straight to you. His nose sat on her face, albeit a little softer, if possible... and his eyes looked at their near identical twins from a distance. There was also your round face and huge, pillowy lips that turned a little down on the edges.
Shuri, as smart as she was, was in a little denial as she seemed puzzled at the girl's advance.
"Who's that?"
Neither of you answered, waiting for the girl to slow down as she came closer and finally, ran into your arms. You lifted her up like you always did and kissed her on the cheek.
T'Challa swallowed, his eyes welling with a myriad of shock, joy and pain. He stepped backwards to comprehend it fully: you had a child.... a five-year-old.... who looked a lot like him.
You grinned at him and neither of you spoke a word for a second. Shuri finally realized what was going on, and her eyes blew wide as saucers. Your daughter looked a little confused, but being the wise child she was, she decided to introduce herself first.
"Hi!" She said to Shuri, who was near her.
"H-hi! What's your name?" Shuri replied out of reflex.
"I'm Taraji, nice to meet you!" she squeaked, a little nervous, but excited and determined to make a new friend.
"Tara, do you know who these are?" you asked her.
She didn't answer immediately, shyly fiddling with the end of her green dashiki. "That's aunty,"
You put your arm around T'Challa. "And this?"
"That's Baba." she smiled.
T'Challa couldn't hold back his tears further than this; he pressed his sleeve into his eyes to be able to see his daughter better. She was the most beautiful thing in the whole world at that moment, and it brought him to his knees. Taraji approached him slowly from your arms, and T'Challa first held her little palms in his huge hands.
"Are you crying because you're happy?" She whispered curiously.
T'Challa nodded and hugged his daughter for the first time. "Ewe,"
Behind you, Shuri too burst into tears, and you held her as she tried to calm down. It worked out just as you had planned, and you couldn't feel happier and more complete with your sister your love, and your baby girl.
"Even Miss Brown cried when our old class came back... it's okay." She reassured her father, who nodded fervently as he examined every inch.
"I know... I'm just..." He murmured, "I should've seen it coming!" He laughed, catching your eye. You chuckled at him, remembering the nights in the early spring of 2018, that resulted in Taraji.
"So," He wiped his eyes again, "Taraji, hm? Taraji (Y/L/N)?"
The little girl grinned "Taraji (Y/L/N)." she confirmed, cutely mispronouncing your last name.
"Does she know?" T'Challa looked deep into her eyes. Shuri nodded. "Does she know who she is?"
You shrug. "Ask her, King."
Your babydaddy glanced at you before turning to his daughter. "Ungubani?"
The child stood up straight as she said this: "Ndingu Inkosazana T'Challa, Intombika Kumkani T'Challa."
I am Princess T'Challa, daughter of King T'Challa.

Warnings: shurixblack!femreader, nsfw below the cut
Translations: usana (baby)
I'm trying to write a part 2 for Teach Me, but the progress is not processing soo... (if you have any suggestions PLEASE tell me)
dividers from this post here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sfw
shuri could easily describe you in three words
overworked, underpaid, and overclocked
being a full-time college student with a job was beating you up this semester
it was a rare event to see you not drained
and it worried her to no end
which is rich coming from her, but this ain about her
you only had two hours in between your classes and work, which meant the majority of your schoolwork had to be done either late at night, or early in the morning
either way, you are tired as shit
as soon as you get home Shuri's already at your side, guiding you to the couch so you can sit
the queen of foot rubs don't play with her
she got the oils and everything
lets you rant about your day while she massages them for you
gives you small kisses on your cheeks when you start crying from stress
there have been multiple occasions where you had to stop her from hunting a customer down for the way they treated you
"but they were disrespectful to you usana..." "shuri your plan is considered a felony please."
she makes sure to end the night with some good, filling food and cuddles as you two drift off to sleep
if you can't end the night that quickly because of school, she'll stay awake with you to get the work done
two heads are better than one anyway
you try to get her to go to bed, but she's not doing that until you're fast asleep
Tumblr media
nsfw
oh you best believe y'all are fucking during your breaks
you can't tell who's more excited for your holidays at this point
on the first morning of your time off, you're gonna wake up to shuri eating you out like there's no tomorrow
and you can tell she's been doing this for a while cus your pussy is buzzing and swollen from stimulation
she's just getting started
within like ten minutes, she has two fingers inside of you and her mouth on your titties, making you a whimpering mess
"there we go, baby girl. just relax, I'll take care of the rest."
her fingers are damn near pearlescent by the time she pulls them out, and you watch with hooded eyes as she licks them clean
you expected her to use the strap, but she was just full of surprises today
you watched as she slid her sweats off and began to grind her pussy against yours
shuri got the pleasure to watch you come undone as your clits bumped against each other at a steady pace, smearing the both of you in slick
"missed you so- mm- fucking much baby. missed this pretty pussy on me- oh fuck..."
both of you were seriously pent up since you were busy all the time, so it didn't take long for you guys to cum
shuri kissed you gently as you came down from your highs, smiling playfully as she poked your cheeks
"you gotta get breaks more often baby."
she gave you one last kiss before rolling off of the bed to prepare a shower for you two, just the way you liked

xhosa translations: usana - baby | sithandwa sam - my love
Tumblr media
you woke up, feeling an empty space next to you again, you already knew where shuri was and with who.
riri williams.
now you didn’t hate her, you just hated how she was getting more attention from your own girlfriend than you. so you hopped in the shower and got dressed in a simple tee and shorts.
you left from your shared room to go to shuri’s lab, only to see shuri and riri laughing and giggling together.
though, she wasn’t cheating and she was allowed to have friends, you felt your heart sink. you stared at the two who haven’t noticed you and sighed. you felt tears stream into your eyes.
hiccuping, you started to head back up the steps to go to sleep again.
Tumblr media
when you woke up, shuri was on the bed rubbing your leg.
“hey.” she murmurs with a smile, brushing the curls out of your face.
“hi.” you murmur back, with the same smile.
“are you.. okay?” she hesitates, scared to make you more upset than you already were.
“i’m fine? why.” you shrug sitting up.
“i saw you, come down to the lab. well, i saw you leave and heard you crying..” she confesses, making you sit in silence.
“you know you can tell me if riri makes you uncomfortable right?” she whispers to you, tilting your head up to look at her.
your breath hitches, you should probably be mad at her, but you can’t when she looks so good.
“i’m not uncomfortable with riri, she’s a very sweet girl, i just.. you spend so much time with her and it makes me … jealous.” you speak softly, playing with the blanket.
shuri’s eyes soften as you confess how you’ve been feeling.
“usana.. i’m so sorry, i know i’ve been busy, it was never my intention to make you feel this way. you have nothing to worry about. i promise you that.” she says grabbing your hands and looking at you in your eyes.
“you know…” you start. “you should show me how sorry you really are..” you whisper to her, leaning over to her and looking her in her eyes.
she looks from your eyes to your lips with a smirk.
“don’t have to tell me twice, sithandwa sam.”

Test Subject
Tumblr media
You're having fun just observing your girlfriend work until she wants you to try out a new invention.
Shuri Udaku × fem reader
Tumblr media
You sat on the work table as you watched Shuri move back and worth, fixing an equation, testing an algorithm, welding something, printing something. The process in which her inventions are made were fun to watch. You occasionally went on your phone to scroll through posts or watch news. And sometimes you would even get you two food.
She took spoon fulls as she worked, and you would feed her if she didn't want to be distracted. The both of you built up a routine while in the lab. She worked and you would occasionally help her. If she had a meeting, you would just monitor the printer. At some point she let out a sigh and took a seat in a chair.
"What is wrong, love?" You questioned. Her hands rested in her lap and her eyes studied the mechanism in front of her.
"The mechanism has a high chance of failing." She stated sternly. "Well test it." Her hands went to her mouth, biting at her nails. You saw her eyes light up and looked over at it. You knew that look to well. You folded your arms over your chest.
"We've been over this." You breathed out. She made her way to you and held your hands. A pleading look plastered on her face. "Usana." She cooed. "It will only take a minute." You looked behind her at the workspace. "It's something for your own suit, Shuri." You sucked your teeth. "And your suit kinda scares me." You trailed off at the last part.
Shuri couldn't hold her laugh in. The fact that her own suit scared you said alot about it. She loved it, but almost found it amusing. "It'll take 2 seconds, please!" She begged even more. You looked into her eyes and couldn't resist anymore. "Fine." You sighed.
"Yes!" She jumped up.
She stood you on a platform and made any last touches to the suit. You looked at yourself in the mirror, touching the black and gold embellishments carefully. You turned around for her to make sure the back was fine. "You know, you should wear this more often." Your girlfriend said as she checked you out. You turned your waist and hit her gently earning a giggle in return.
"Okay now turn to me." You turned around to look at her. "Now put your arms out in front of you." You lifted your arms carefully. "Now, listen to me carefully. The force of the blasters can break your arm." Your eyes widened. "What?!" She chuckled.
"I do not mean to scare you love, but it is true. Open your stance and bend your knees for more support." You followed her orders with your arms still out in front you. "Now, there is a sensor in the palm. Press it firmly when you're ready to shoot." You nodded. "Don't do it yet!" She screamed fast. You turned to her shocked. "Bast! I'm not going to kill you!" You let out.
You watch as she brought out a test dummy and set it in front you. She stepped back and pressed her kimoyo beads, recording you. "Okay go, be careful."
You nodded. Nervous wasn't a word that could describe what you felt in the moment. It took all your strength and pride to even make it to this point. You took a deep breath and squeezed your fingers into ur palms. A blast shot right through the dummy. Shuri jumped in excitement.
"Let's go!" She ran to the test dummy checking the damage. A hole straight through it. Only thing she didn't see was the blast that went through your body. You felt as though someone shocked you with electricity. Your vision slowly turned black and your hearing became foggy. Shuri running to you was the last thing you saw.
...
You hear the sound of Griot speaking faintly. "Heart rate back to normal, returning to consciousness." Your eyes meant the ceiling of the lab. You felt the bed beneath and saw the holograms of your vitals around you. You sat up on your elbows. "So it didn't work?" You said faintly. Shuri turned around immediately.
"Y/N I'm so sorry my love. You know I never wanted to hurt you. I just wanted to test it out. I should've listened to you. Are you hurt anywhere?" She cupped your face turning it side to side. You giggled at her concern. "I am fine, darling. Do not worry. It was a success, no?" She sighed and smiled. "Yes, but I care about you right now." She kissed your forehead.
You held her wrists. Her concern and selflessness made you fall for her the first time and continues to make you love her even more. You were just glad her tests were successful.
And that you were alive.

Fooling Around
| From Request Number 1.
Okoye x Female Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You're a very unserious Dora Milaje when Okoye's around. Or maybe you're just unserious in general. Author's Note: Just a little fluff to keep you occupied. Word Count: 1.7k Short Fluff Warnings: None
Tumblr media
A cool breeze made its way through the palace as you roamed through one of its secluded passages. You kept close to yourself, trying to keep the little heat that your body was producing to yourself.
In all your years as a Dora Milaje, seeing all of the technological advances that the palace had gotten, the temperature control of the building in winter was below average.
Though you were often cold in any open place, you were sure that the palace was the problem here, not you. Every year it was the same thing, and you couldn’t for the life of you find a decent spot to stand without freezing.
Your wife, Okoye, claimed that it was just your personal problem. That everyone else was completely fine in the cold seasons.
“Y/n, don’t” she'd say when she’d see you trying to take one of your blankets with you to work.
Though she’d stop you everytime she found you sneaking one, you still attempted to every now and then, wanting to stir up a bit of trouble. While also needing to stay warm.
“It’s the uniform.” you always tried to reason. “It’s not good at trapping heat. If you don’t want me to take the blanket, then get someone to update the uniform.”
She still refused to believe you.
It didn’t stop you from taking your blanket with you, but it did make you better at hiding it.
When you were alone guarding a section of the palace by yourself, you often wrapped yourself up and stood comfortably waiting until you heard footsteps approaching you. Then you’d throw it off to the side.
It often led you to lose a lot of blankets, but you felt like it was well worth it.
You did the same now, the blanket you had on soothing and sending you off into a relaxed state for the day.
Maybe a bit too relaxed.
You were so distracted by the warmth, that before you knew it, footsteps were close and you were rushing to strip yourself of the covering.
“Y/n?” you heard Okoye’s voice behind you as you threw the blanket to the side, fixing your uniform.
“Yes.” you turned around to see her looking at the thrown object.
She rolled her eyes, smiling at you for a brief moment before becoming serious again.
“I need you to come help me with training today.”
You eyed her in question, “Training? Isn’t that for the new recruits today?”
You got a sigh in return. “Yes. Ayo’s caught something and Aneka stayed home to take care of her so you’re the last person available right now.” she explained.
You grinned at her, “Okoye, if I’m your last option you’re better off doing it alone.” you laughed.
“That’s what I said.”
“Hey!”
“I’m kidding.” she poked fun at you. Then she returned to her serious face, “I need you, my love. You’re a people’s person, and in case you haven’t noticed; I am not. You can help calm the girls’ nerves.”
You thought about it. Seeing as you weren’t busy, it would keep you occupied. But you weren’t really the trainer type when it came to the Dora. You were more of the comedic relief that could fight when needed.
It was, however, a lot warmer in the training facilities. You were already beginning to freeze again from the lack of your beloved cloak. What was the harm in being a substitute trainer for the day.
“Okay. I’ll do it.” you said, starting to walk away from your previous spot.
“It wasn’t really an optional choice,” Okoye whispered to herself. She looked down at the blanket you’d so terribly tried to hide.
Shaking her head, she picked it up, following you out of the palace.
Tumblr media
“Y/n. Before we go in there. You have to promise to be serious about this.”
You leaned against Okoye as you walked, knowingly smiling at the woman.
“Darling, when have I ever not been serious? “ you asked.
She pushed your face away, “Almost every day since I’ve known you.”
You pretended to gasp, placing your hand on your chest.
“Ouch. That one hurt, my love. That one hurt more than any bullet or sword possibly ever could.”
“It’s not like I’m lying. Just please don’t play one of your tricks. I need the girls to feel comfortable, not more nervous.”
You got to the main building, looking at her.
As you entered, you blew her a kiss, “I will try my best. But I cannot make any promises.”
When you got inside, a fair amount of young girls stood in there, standing up straight, ready for instruction.
‘I see we’ve entered what others would call hell.’ you thought. Okoye cleared her throat loudly, eyeing you down from the middle of the room.
“Oh, sorry. Did I say that out loud?” you said, covering your mouth.
A few snickers came from all over the room.
Your seriousness had barely lasted a few seconds.
“Ehm, now as I was saying. You’ll be split into groups for today and Y/n and I will evaluate you group by group.”
Okoye explained the training rules more, while you  stared out into the room, looking at all of the recruits.
Most of them were of the same age that you had been when you joined. Probably the youngest group of recruits in the past 5 years.
To you they still looked like babies. Not young women prepared to become warriors.
There was a determination in them, though. One that resembled Okoye’s more than anything.
As you observed the skills that they had learnt in the previous training sessions, you felt a rush of pride come over you.
They would be good. Although they were a bit too serious for your taste.
“That was good.” you said to a girl who was working on her spear handling.
“Your technique is just like the General’s.” you said.
The girls immediately became reserved, shaking her head. “I’m nothing like the General. She’s far too good.”
“That is true.” you smiled at the girl. “But you’re not far off. Work like that more often and you’ll be competing with her in no time.”
“Thank you.” she whispered.
“In fact, I’m going to go tell her about you, um…”
“Hawele.”
You nodded at her, “I’ll be right back.”
“Wait-” Hawele tried to stop you, seeing as you still had the rest of the group to observe.
She waited with her group of 4 other girls, as they all watched you approach Okoye.
They stared in complete awe at the ease that you exuded when you talked to the General. You smiled, laughed, and even dared to touch her arm while you spoke to her.
It was an amazing sight to see.
When you returned, half of them still looked at you like they’d seen a ghost.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, looking around to find out what was bothering them.
“How do you do that?” Hawele asked.
“Do what?”
Another girl pointed to Okoye. “How do you talk to her so easily?”
“Oh, Okoye? What are you talking about? Okoye’s the easiest person to talk to.”
They shook their heads in unison.
“What? You don’t believe me?” you asked. You were all looking at the General now.
“Oh come on. She’s harmless.”
You looked around for an example of how to show them. Then you saw the shimmer of a spear next to the group that she was helping train.
It was nearby but not directly in her sight.
You started to leave the group again, “Watch.”
They all watched as you snuck behind Okoye, making your way to the back of her group. She was too occupied with her demonstration to see you getting on the ground and swiping her spear.
It was a fast movement, barely noticeable to anyone but your girls that stood with their mouths hanging open. You casually walked back to them, hiding the spear in the place where yours usually stood.
The girls looked both impressed and mortified.
“Go put it back!” one whispered to you.
“She’s gonna find you.” another went.
More whispers of concern ran through the group, the breathing getting heavy.
Okoye definitely took notice of that, taking a few glances at you.
Some girls even tried to physically push you to the direction of Okoye’s group, though it was a hopeless attempt.
“Stop, you're making a scene. I’m just trying to show you something.” You tried your best not to laugh at the clear expressions of distress.
You waved at them to settle down, seeing Okoye reach for her spear.
Not finding it where it last was, she looked around checking the surrounding area. Concern washed over her, and though not many would immediately notice, she was becoming slightly frantic.
She went on like that for only a few minutes, before she made eye contact with you.
When she did, and you made a point of looking away, she knew that you were the culprit.
She approached your group, who instinctively backed themselves behind you for protection.
“General Okoye.” you said with every bit of charm you could muster.
The girls backed away again as Okoye went for your arm.
Quickly she retrieved her spear, seeing the scared girls behind you.
For a brief moment she melted at the sight of them using you as a shield.
“Girls, I see you’ve all gotten acquainted with our best comedian Dora Milaje. Also known as my wife.”
“Wife?!” one girl said.
“That's me.” you smiled pointing to yourself, “ and I’m truly a blessing.”
“That’s one way to put it.” Okoye said. “I think that’s enough for the day, my love. You can go back to your station now.”
You sighed, pretending to be devastated.
“That’s too bad. Can I get my blanket back?”
Okoye rolled her eyes. Going to find the blanket, and coming back to hand it to you.
As you made your way to the door, you were happy to see that the girls were all smiles looking at the exchange.
“See, She’s very easy-going.”
“Out, Y/n!”
And you made your  way out of the room quickly.

"Y/N! HEY" shuri reached forward and pushed her fingers against your shoulder to get your attention. the distant look in your eyes as you came back to made her expression soften. the queen placed a gentle hand against your cheek as she asked, "where are you, my love?" she watched as your eyes opened and closed slowly as if your blinks were in slow motion. you pulled away from her touch and mumbled, "i'm here."
the princess watched as you rose to your feet and staggered over to your window that overlooked Golden City. thick bandages wrapped around your torso so tightly it felt like you were wearing one of those godforsaken corsets you had to wear for certain events. with a gentle hand you cradled your side as you leaned against the window.
the busy streets below made memories of sneaking out and visiting food stalls and buzzing marketplaces rush back to the forefront of your mind. so many early mornings that you spent before training, just watching the sunrise from roofs of the tallest buildings with shuri by your side. countless nights of slipping away when everyone was asleep to introduce your school friends to shuri before partying until the sun rose again. all of those memories before the world truly knew wakanda's name, and before you earned the title of the Dora Milaje.
fast forward to now where the entire world knows of wakanda, and the entire nation was nearly ripped apart at the hands of the talokan. you were thrust full force into duties before you thought you would be, having turned twenty the night before namor attacked the city. little did you know that the next morning you would be the one that saved the lives of the queen and the american scientist that unintentionally screwed everything up:
you had been standing guard at your normal post outside of the palace. when you got word that the city was under attack, you were dispatched to protect the other citizens while more trained dora protected the queen and riri inside. although being highly trained in combat, you had already taken heavy beatings when you saw your kimoyo beads illuminate purple.
water clogged your ears and you could barely hear shuri instructing you to go and protect her mother and new friend, over the screams in the street. adrenaline coursed through your veins and pushed you to sprint through the definite broken ankle and leg you already sustained. the huge gash on your side nearly went unnoticed through the rush of it all. with shaking fingers you pulled a kimoyo bead and pushed it into your bleeding flesh, your stomach churning at the sight of the small sphere being nearly swallowed by the wound. yet, you pushed on as the only thing on your mind was protecting the woman who cared for you since childhood, and the young genius who was only a year younger than you.
as you started sprinting you couldn't take your eyes off of the panels of celling to floor windows that lined the entire front of the palace. you frantically pressed at the buttons on your kimoyo beads in a specific sequence that overrode the security panel until you passed through them. it saved time in getting upstairs to the queen and the american teenager that were unknowingly the target of an attack. shuri remained on the line and you tried to hide the fear in your voice as you ran further down the corridor, "It's okay I'm almost-"
suddenly you felt the entire palace shook beneath your feet and a deafening boom rang through your ears. The doors of the palace room flew open from the force and your connection to shuri ended with static. shards of glass and a sharp spray of water blew into your face and stung your skin. the impact made you stumble back a few steps into the wall behind you. when you opened your eyes, covering your face with a hand you realized why you couldn’t see the queen and the teenager. a scream of pure horror ripped from your throat as you ran inside to see the glass floors were demolished and flooded with water.
"MAMA!" you screamed with hot tears streaming down your face as you dragged your feet through the shallow water that pooled at the entrance of the throne room. there was no hesitation before you dove into the darkened depths of the ice cold trench of a floor. with minimal light it was hard to see anything but a flash of movement a meter below you pulled your attention. a head of silver hair came into view, then a hand pushing the woman through the water. you kicked as fast as you could, slowly losing breath with every move. Her hand met yours and you wrapped it around your shoulder. with every ounce of energy and adrenaline you had left, you pushed the queen and the teenager to the surface above.
searing pain burned through your chest as you ran out of oxygen, your nose peeking through the surface just to slip back under a second later. muted wheezes and coughs were the last thing you heard before your eyes fell shut and the world went silent.
"Y/N! Y/N- LET ME GO! LET ME-" shuri's panicked shrieks became louder for a second before you lurched forward with a wheeze. you rolled onto your side limply to choke out the water that was forced out of your chest suddenly. air rushed into your lungs just to be rejected with each desperate breath you took, forceful coughs and wheezes sputtered from your throat harshly. water dripped from your nose and ears, everything burned inside as you gripped okoye’s arm with a clenched fist. when you were finally able to take a complete breath, your eyes started to droop and your body felt like a bag of rocks. suddenly, you felt yourself falling back and once again everything went black.
the hand shuri placed on your back made you jump slightly and she soothed just above a whisper, "hey hey it's okay. it's just me, bhabha~ baby." your shoulders visably relaxed and you bitterly asked, "why are you here? i know you had a meeting at this hour." shuri sucked in a breath and let out a sigh, she knew you'd be like this. ever since everything happened you had been distant and colder than normal to everyone. including the nurses and doctors that were in charge of your recovery which resulted in it taking much longer than normal, especially because your wounds weren't all physical.
the princess told you, "mother excused me from the meetings. the doctor told us that you haven't been cooperating for treatment." your gaze dropped from the window and you swallowed thickly before stating, "so they think sending you up here to babysit me will make me do what they want?" when shuri was silent you scoffed in annoyance, "i assumed as much. and it won't work so you can save your time and just leave."
shuri slipped her hand behind your waist and she gently coaxed, "what is the problem, darling." you shrugged and said as coolly as you could to disguise the tremor in your voice, "nothing. i am just not in the mood to see the doctors today." when your gaze crossed with shuri's you noticed her brows knitted together and the stoic look on her face.
fuck.
your girlfriend let out a hum of disapproval and rejection then a simple, "uyaxoka~ you're lying." shuri learned all of your tells before you both turned eight. she could read you like a book and you could do the same, which is how she knew there was more to it than you were letting on.
shuri lifted your chin with her finger and you faced her as she asked once more, "intoni ingxakhi~ what's wrong?" you bit the corner of your lip then decided to cut the shit and actually answer her questions.
you admitted in a whisper, "i have to bathe..."
shuri leaned closer to you and you repeated yourself once again, this time with a quivering voice, "they told me i have to take a bath." you shrugged shuri's other hand off of your shoulder then walked back to your bed. while sitting on the edge, you toyed with your fingers anxiously under the princess' gaze. she crossed the room and knelt before you with her hands on your knees, "i need you to talk to me so i can understand how to help you, my love."
you kept your eyes fixated on your lap and quietly rambled, "the water...i- i can' t- they'll make me get in the water and i can't- shuri i can't. it's like i'm there again and i feel like- i feel like i can't breathe and all i think about is that day and just...don't make me , shuri please don't make me..." your voice tapered off into sobs as shuri embraced you in a hug that you didn't pull away from. she shushed you quietly as she held you close, your fingers gripping the back of her top as if you were scared of letting her go.
nearly an hour later you had managed to get into the bathroom and you sat in the half full bathtub. a thin sheet of plastic covered the stitches on your side to prevent them from getting wet. despite the doctor's desperate efforts to use the usual wakandan healing methods, you never cooperated long enough to let them work. even with stitches instead of some medical grade vibranium treatment, you already had to be treated three times over due to ripping your stitches once and resisting treatment twice before that.
but now you were doing better physically- the broken ankle and leg you sustained were healing properly, and you were to start physical therapy soon. regarding your psychological healing...it was still a work in progress but you sitting in the bathtub now was a huge improvement from before.
shuri dragged the warm washcloth over your back and your eyes began to fall shut. as she washed your body with careful hands, she spoke, "uphilile~ are you okay?" there was a small hum that was just loud enough for shuri to hear before you sleepily murmured, "ewe~ yes." shuri relaxed slightly but continued rinsing your body one last time before wrapping you in a warm towel. shuri insisted that you let her take care of you so you let her help you into a fresh pair of chocolate brown silk pajamas.
she wrapped you in a blanket as well before having someone bring a warm cup of your favorite tea to the room. you settled on your bed next to shuri with your hands wrapped around your favorite mug. your girlfriend shook her head in amusement as she watched you take a sip from the chipped ceramic 'worlds best grandpa' mug that you loved more than any of the expensive china shuri offered you. her arm wrapped over your shoulder and you melted into her touch once again.
you drew your feet up and under the blanket and asked, "may you please read me something?" shuri agreed and quickly pulled a novel from your wall to wall bookshelf before settling back against you. although you've read the book countless times, shuri knew it was a favorite of yours. you finished your tea and set your mug aside while you listened to shuri reading. she only got a few pages in before you started to doze off.
shuri was tempted to let you sleep but she had one rule from the doctors which was to keep you awake during the day so you slept through the night. the princess nudged you and asked, "you know the rules, no sleeping yet right?" you whined and mumbled, "i can't help it shuri." your girlfriend remained quiet then started shifting as if she was going to leave which got your attention and you groaned, "fine. i'm awake, i'm awake. now please continue...i just want to hear your voice."

Mentor || Shuri U.
Warning: none
Genre: fluff
Pairing: Shuri x black fem! Reader
Word Count: girl idk but it’s not long
Tumblr media
You felt like your heart is about to beat out of your chest. As you got ready for the day events from last night kept playing through your head. You and Shuri stayed up late in the lab chatting about nothing and everything all at once, it was the first time your ever had a real one on one conversation with her.
You weren’t suppose to stay as long as you did, your job was to update her on the growth of the heart shape herb garden and leave but the conversation got carried away.
As you made your way back to her lab your mind wondered on why she’d ask you to come back, you surely don’t work in this part of the palace you weren’t a big time scientist, you were just someone who maintained the gardens and occasionally helped design a few simple things.
You walked through the doors to an empty room you nervously bit your cheek looking around for her. “Up here” you turned around looking up at her as she smiled down from the balcony. She watched you make your way up the stairs studying your outfit.
“You look nice by the way, you’re working inside today?” She questioned noticing you weren’t in your normal garden attire aka dirty jeans and a plain shirt. You almost didn’t register what she said after the “you look nice” comment. Your heart couldn’t catch a break.
“Good morning queen Shuri and yes I’m working in the designing department today” you slightly bowed before her but only to earn a giggle.
“Why are bowing? It’s too formal” she chuckled.
“Sorry my queen“ she waved you off guiding you to where she was working. You took this chance to soak in everything, you’ve never been able to explore the main lab before due to you working either outside or on the other end of the palace but it sure was living up to the stories. It was absolutely amazing.
“This place is beyond beautiful my queen” you complimented as your hands glided across an unfinished project, it looked harmless but knowing Shuri it wasn’t.
“Thank you but I don’t advise you touching that, the last time I was working on it I was shocked and my hand went numb for an hour” you snatched your hand away looking at her with bewildered stare hoping she was joking but her serious face never faltered. You decided it’d be best to walk back over to her.
“So not to be rude my queen but can I ask why you called me in here?” She nodded sitting down her tools.
“Can I be honest y/n?” You nodded.
“I’ve been observing you for a while without your knowledge. I’ve seen you work, you put your all into everything you do for it to never see the light of day” you blinked at her confused on what she’s referring to.
“My queen what are you talking about? Yes I put all my love into the garden but that’s because I care about the future for us, the future of Wakanda. We’ll-“
“I’m not talking about that herb, I’m talking about this” she reached under a metal slate on her work desk pulling out a thick messy note book. You mind went fuzzy for a moment realizing it’s yours. That notebook contains every idea you’ve had from clothing designs down to sketches of technology enhancements you did on the side. You snapped out of your daze and reached for it but she snatched it back.
“I didn’t mean to snoop i thought one of my biologist left this in here, but you know we have a program for things like this? You can share your ideas and-“
“No no this is just a hobby” you blurted “nothing more.” She handed you your notebook shaking her head.
“Don’t doubt your intelligence, you have a bright mind from what I’ve seen let me guide you.” She smiled leaning off her desk.
“Guide me? My queen-“
“Call me Shuri.” She corrected.
“Ok Shuri with all respect you sound ridiculous you have an entire country run and on top of that you’re her protector I doubt you have time to tutor me plus I’m not that good at engineering anyways” as you rambled on and on she just shook her head.
She sat the notebook down and approached you and while reaching for your hands “you’re scared to fail I understand that but just give it a try and maybe during our time together we’ll grow closer” her words were gentle and persuasive but you couldn’t focus on anything besides your queen standing in such close proximity to you. She smelled absolutely incredible it was insanely distracting.
“Plus I’ve always wanted to be a mentor.” She added with a little smile.
“Ok” was all you muttered as a satisfied smile spread across her face.
“You are to stay in here and observe me for today but tomorrow is when we start” you couldn’t fight back the smile that was appearing on your face. Observing Shuri was something you had no problem doing.

Learn Ya || Chapter 9
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8
Author Notes: SURPRISE SHAWTY. Shout out to everyone that lowkey bullied me into continuing this fic some three years later. I love y’all for that. I kept the same tag list as before so if you no longer wish to be tagged, just let me know.
Amaya felt like her whole world had come crashing down in a matter of seconds.
She’d had her life planned out from the time that she was a young girl, and now all of those plans had gone astray. She could understand that her mother’s job was having financial issues and there needed to be cut backs as far as employees went. What she couldn’t understand was why her mother needed to be included in that. She sort of knew that she was being selfish about her true reasoning for caring that her mother lost her job, but she couldn’t help it. Her entire world had just been flipped on its head.
She couldn’t afford school anymore. The financial aid she had been given didn’t cover the complete cost of her first year. Her mother was going to cover the difference so that Amaya didn’t have to worry about the financial strain of school and could solely focus on making sure she made the best grades that she could. She was even going to cut back on the hours she worked at the centre to give her all to her academics.
That wasn’t the case anymore.
She had to come up with the money in a very short amount of time and she had really only two options as far as she was concerned because deferring a year simply wasn’t going to work for her.
She could either work more hours at the centre to get the money to pay the difference or she could take out student loans. Honestly, neither of them were stellar options, but she was heavily leaning towards the student loans. It would give her the money she needed right in that moment and she could deal with the fall out to her credit score and paying it back later in life. All she wanted to do was go to law school. How she did it really didn’t matter to her anymore.
“Is everything alright, Amaya? You have been unusually quiet tonight?”
She looked up from the plate of food she had been toying around with the last few minutes, pushing around bits of mashed potatoes across the ceramic, and saw T’Challa looking at her. Concern was etched into his features, brows sitting low on his face and his full lips pulled down into a soft frown.
She really should have canceled their date but she hadn’t been able to bring herself to do that. It had been a few weeks since she had last seen him and she knew he was a busy man. Though, she supposed canceling would’ve been better than going and being in a sour mood the entire night.
“Yeah, everything is fine.” She did her best to put on the most convincing smile but the look that he gave her showed that it didn’t work in her favor.
“I do not appreciate being lied to.” The frown was still etched on his face but his voice was soft, almost as if he didn’t want to scare her.
Amaya pulled her bottom lip between her teeth and let out a small breath through her nose. She certainly hadn’t meant to lie to him but she wasn’t sure if they were at the stage where she could dump all of her issues onto him. Everything up until that point had been lighthearted and fun so it was hard to say if he truly even wanted to know. She allowed silence to settle between the two of them as she continued to push around food on her plate, lost in her thoughts. It might be good to talk to someone who could provide an outside prospect of things, and he might even have some sort of sage advice to give to her.
“No, really everything is fine,” she had every intention of leaving it at that but the way he lifted one brow let her know that it wasn’t going to fly a second time. “My mother lost her job and now I’m trying to figure out how to pay for law school.”
She hadn’t really said those words out loud. Other people might have said them to her, Charlie or her brother, and she might have thought them on more than one occasion, but the words had never once left her mouth. Not even when her mother had sat her down and told her the whole truth. Saying the words out loud would only make the reality of her situation settle in, making it that much harder for her to try and deny the truth. She had hoped that if she simply just remained positive then maybe things would work themselves out, but with each passing day, she could see that a positive attitude wasn’t going to work and that very same attitude diminished and made way for a more negative one.
When his hand moved across the table, she didn’t hesitate to slip her into his. Regardless of whatever mood she was in, her body sought out the physical comfort from him because there was something about his presence that had been nothing but soothing for her, even in the times he made her heart stutter in her chest.
“How much is your balance?”
“A lot.”
“How much is a lot?”
“$19,980. I gave them $20 so they would stop calling me for a few days but really I just think the lady felt bad for me when I started crying on the phone. Half of that needs to be paid by the end of next week.” Again, she had thought about her situation plenty of times but saying it out loud only made it that much more daunting for her.
“I will take care of it.” His tone was so final as he squeezed her hand.
“T’Challa, no. I can’t ask you to do that.” The very last thing she wanted him to think was that she had only told him in hopes that he would pay for it.
“It is a good thing you are not asking and I am offering.”
“I mean I get that but I’m still saying no.”
“It is also a good thing I am not seeking your permission on this.”
Amaya rolled her eyes and kissed her teeth. “Now is not the time to be playing that little game where you need to have control over everything. This is serious and it’s too much money for you to pay and I can’t pay you back,”
“You will not need to pay me back. Consider it an early graduation gift if that will help you feel better about accepting the money.”
“I don’t need you to do that. I can figure something out.” She made a face and could start to feel herself get defensive.
The logical part of her knew that he was only doing this out of the kindness of his heart and not because he thought she couldn’t do it on her own (which they both know that she couldn’t). But there was also some jaded part of her that felt like he was doing it because he expected something in return. Sex maybe.
Of course there had been indications that the two of them were sexually attracted to each other, anyone on the outside looking in could see that, but he hadn’t given her any reason to believe that was the one and only thing that he was after. It was yet another thing she had to remind herself that set him apart from the men she had dealt with in the past. Particularly Rod.
“Come here.” A frown had once again settled onto his face as she pulled her hand away from his.
“You can’t just distract me with whatever you’re going to try and do.”
“Amaya,” her name was a rough warning on his tongue that she felt right between her thighs. What was wrong with her that him being even a little stern with her was making her wet? “Come here. I won’t tell you again.”
She watched as he pushed his chair away from the table a little bit. Any other time she would’ve pushed the boundaries a little bit more, trying to see just how much she was able to get away with, but she didn’t have the energy. She mirrored his actions and stood up from her own chair, rounding the table to stand in front of him. She wasn’t standing long before she found herself being pulled down into his lap.
A shuddering breath left her lips when a large hand rested against the bit of thigh exposed by her dress. A distraction and damn if it wasn’t working.
“Why is it so hard for you to accept my help?” She could barely think with the way his thumb traced back and forth across her skin.
“Because I don’t want you thinking I told you so you would help me.”
“If you are going to be someone in my life then you should expect to be taken care of in all aspects of your life, Amaya.” She had to admit that he did have a way with words but she could tell that he wasn’t just saying them for show. He meant them.
“I don’t think I know how to let people do things like this for me.” Amaya prided herself on being an independent woman. Of course, her mother and her family were there if and when she needed to help but no one outside of that circle really did anything to take care of her.
“I can teach you.”
————-
The rest of the dinner had placed Amaya in much better spirits and a lot of that was due in part to T’Challa keeping her in his lap with an arm wrapped around her waist as he held her close. The two of them fell back into their usual back and forth banter with ease. It was nice to not have to worry about whether or not she was going to be able to attend school or not.
She had never been so grateful to be called into work on a random Tuesday morning. Without that, she would’ve never met him and she would currently be shit out luck, probably forced to drop out of school because Rod certainly didn’t have an odd $20,000 laying around to help her out.
She still hadn’t agreed to let him pay for her first year but she also wasn’t fighting him on it either. She would sleep on it for a few days, telling him she would give him an answer in a few days time. He had been reluctant but he agreed, albeit begrudgingly.
The night was coming to a close and she felt an almost loss at knowing that he would be leaving in the morning and hadn’t really given her a time frame on when he would be back.
Her key twisted in the lock of her front door but she didn’t open it. Instead, she cleared her throat and mustered up all of her courage, putting on her proverbial big girl panties as she turned to look at him. “Did you want to…I don’t know like come in or something?”
Even in trying to make it sound like no big deal, her voice cracked.
“I would love to but I do fly out early tomorrow morning.” She was happy that he sounded sad about the fact but she had no intention of letting up.
“I know I know. It’s just Charlie isn’t home and I really don’t wanna be home alone, Sir.” She rocked back and forth from one foot to the other, looking up at him with what she could only hope was a look of helplessness.
T’Challa made a soft sound like a hum as he hooked his finger underneath her chin. “You call me that and think I’m just supposed to give in to you whatever you want.”
“I do.”
“I could tell you no right now. Don’t forget that, Amaya.” Despite the half grin forming on his lips, he gripped her chin a little tighter.
“I know you could, but do you wanna know what I think?” His fingers left her chin in order for his hand to cup the side of her face. Her body wasted no time leaning into his touch.
“Enlighten me, beautiful.”
“I think you don’t want to say no. I think you want to come in as much as I want you to come in. You just wanna play hard to get.” She reached behind her and opened her front door.
“I’m playing hard to get?” He chuckled softly as his brows lifted.
“Mhmm,” she nodded. “You definitely are and you need to cut it out before it gets you in trouble.”
She took one step back and then another, finding that he was following her back into her apartment. The way kept his eyes on her as he pulled her keys from the door and kicked it closed before flipping the lock, had her chewing on the inside of her cheek. She found that she loved having his attention solely on her.
“You and your mouth.” His thumb ran across her bottom lip and it took every ounce of strength that she had to resist the urge to pull the digit into her mouth. “Always pushing your limits.”
“You like it or else you would’ve made it so I couldn’t sit down for a week by now.”
“The night is still young.”
Taking his hand from the side of her face, she wrapped her fingers around his wrist to guide him to her bedroom. The voice in the back of head was telling her that she needed to get herself under control.  She hadn’t invited him up because she wanted to jump his bones. She really had invited him because she didn’t want to be alone for the night, and she wanted to spend what little time she did have left with him.
When she pushed open the door to her bedroom, she was grateful that she had cleaned up some before she left. Any other time, her room would have been in shambles with clothes and shoes thrown all over the place in her attempt to find something suitable to wear. Instead, it was just the small desk in the corner of her room that was a mess with books and papers haphazardly thrown across the top, and her bed that she had forgotten to make.
Her room was small and his large presence made it seem that much smaller.
“I’m gonna get changed but could you unzip my dress for me?” She could easily reach the zipper herself but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a little fun. When she turned and pulled her braids over her shoulder, she felt his presence behind her.
T’Challa said nothing as one hand ghosted up her arm and the other wrapped around the small zipper and pulled it down slowly. Amaya swore her heart felt like it was about to explode out of her chest and it didn’t get any better when she felt his lips trail along the skin of her shoulder. She inhaled sharply. His fingers pushed down the thin straps of her dress and her hands instinctively came up to hold the dress in place before it hit the ground.
She talked a big game and had no problem teasing him but she wasn’t so sure that she wanted to drop her dress and stand in front of him in just a pair of panties just yet.
When his lips pressed the shell of her ear, her eyes fluttered and she let out a small sound despite her best efforts to remain calm. It had been far too long since someone had touched her, played with her body until her mind went fuzzy and she couldn’t think, and it showed.
“Go change before I forget that I would like to be a gentleman tonight.”
She wondered what might happen if she told him she didn’t want him to be a gentleman, but something was telling her that she wasn’t quite ready for that. T’Challa seemed like a man who knew exactly what he was doing with far more years of experience than she had. She didn’t want to write a check that her ass couldn’t cash.
“Right,” she nodded her head and stepped away from him.
She practically scurried out of the room with her pajamas in hand. She knew if she had stayed in her bedroom for one second longer, she would have easily given in to the x rated thoughts that had been swarming in her head. The magnetic pull that man had over her body was insane. Scary. Thrilling. And more than just a little erotic.
She had never wanted to fuck someone so badly in her life. It was to the point that if he asked, she would be hard pressed to say no, but she truly did what to take things slow with him. She wanted to be sure that they had something that went beyond just the very apparent physical connection and attraction.
And she didn’t want him to think she was a whore.
Amaya used her night time routine as a means to distract herself, probably taking far longer than she needed to, but she needed to give her body all the time that it needed to cool down. By the time she had gone through the steps, her body was still on edge but only just barely. She was sure she would be able to keep her hormones in check.
Or so she had thought before she stepped back into her bedroom to see T’Challa sitting up against her pillows with her civil procedures book in his hand. It would have been fine for her, nothing she wouldn’t have been able to handle if he hadn’t stripped down to his boxer briefs and nothing else. .
This man was going to be the death of her.
“You just made yourself right at home I see.” She gave him a pointed look before she shoved her clothes into her hamper. She just needed to distract and deflect so nothing got out of hand.
“Well, you can only leave a man to his own devices for so long before he starts to get bored.” The smirk he gave her when he looked up from the book had her grinning back at him like an idiot.
“I see that.” She rolled her eyes as she walked over to him and pulled the book from his hands. “I don’t think this is how you want to cure your boredom though.”
“Do you have any suggestions then?”
“I have a few, but you have to leave so early in the morning and I would hate to keep you up all night, y’know?” She pressed her lips together to keep from smiling as he laughed.
She dropped the book back off on her desk before she flopped down on her back onto her bed.
“Lay down before your mouth lands you into some trouble you can’t handle, Amaya.” He shook his head.
She had no doubt that she would find herself getting into some trouble at some point with him but tonight wasn’t going to be the night for that. Crawling into bed, she laid on her side with a hand curled underneath her chin so she could face him. He wasted no time in mirroring her actions minus the hand under his chin.
“Do you know when you might be able to come back?”
“Unfortunately, no I don’t. There are quite a few things back home that I will need to take care of before I can get away again.” His hand reached out and his thumb moved along her cheek.
She figured that he was a busy man but she’d had a sliver of hope that he would be back sooner rather than later. It was getting harder and harder each time to only have an afternoon or a few hours a night with him at a time before he disappeared for an extended period of times. Phone calls could only do so much.
She really did like having him around.
“Don’t look so sad,” she wasn’t aware that she had started to frown until he pointed it out. “I’ll still make sure to call you every day.”
“Don’t get me wrong, it is nice hearing from you every day but actually seeing you more often would be even better.” She shrugged her shoulders and toyed with the ring that hung from the chain around his neck. When she looked up there was something of a smug smile on his lips. “What?”
“If I didn’t know any better I would think you had a thing for me.”
“You’re alright I guess.” She rolled her eyes playfully.
“Oh I’m just alright? I guess I should go somewhere where I will be appreciated then.” He started to roll over to get out of bed before she caught his arm.
She pressed her body into his and buried her face into his chest, inhaling his scent gently. “Don’t go.”
His arms wrapped around her tightly, holding her close, as he pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
“I’m right here, baby girl.”

My Queen, My Sun and My Sea
Tumblr media
talokan once had a queen. one who loved her people with all her heart—with the same heart she had given to her k'uk'ulkan for what felt like millennia ago. but they lost her to the hands of the enemy; it was a tragic tale painted on the walls of the king's mural, the pain searing itself onto his heart uninvited. he rules now with a darkened hole in his chest, fueled by the loss of his true love and a force to protect his people even more. after all, only the most broken people can be great leaders.
pairing: namor x fem!talokan!reader
warnings: bpwf spoilers!! death (i was lowkey evil for that), colonizers, inaccurate translations, nawt very proofread lol
Tumblr media
El Niño Sin Amor.
That was a name that echoed deep inside Shuri's head, its bitter aftertaste lingering still; a piece of Namor that she'd just uncovered.
He was an enigma; a powerful being who rose from the sea, unannounced with his presence but has always been there, deep in the waters where he and his kingdom have flourished in the city of Talokan. He had just finished recounting about his and his people's origins, how the colonizers brought a disease that left his ancestors to drink a concoction from a vibranium-infused plant found in an underwater cave to save themselves, turning them into water-breathing individuals; the Talokanil.
She turned to Namor with many questions unanswered, only to see him staring at something with a look akin to pain and longing on one of the surfaces on his murals, caressing the painting with a gentleness she had yet to seen from the god.
She shifted to the side quietly, trying to see what he was gazing at. When Namor bowed his head, Shuri saw a painting of a woman beside his serpent, posing regally with what looked like a staff in her hand.
She wore a beautiful jade and gold headpiece, green and brown feathers lining the outer layer, fading in its design as if the light was shining on them. It towered atop her figure, framing her perfectly like she was always meant to be there. She was adorned in jewelry, from the large, circular green jade plugs that hung from her ears to the tessellated necklace that she wore—a striking amalgamation of gleaming silver beads, plated viridescent tiles to carved gold pendants and everything that complemented her beauty. The woman had a tan clothe wrapped around her body, washes of terracotta and hues of sage and cream woven in stripes on the fabric. She was covered in jewels—just like Namor.
One thing for sure, she must have been of royalty in Talokan. Or a goddess, perhaps. The corks in Shuri's head turned as she tried to figure out where the woman in the mural fit in Namor's story.
"Who is that?" Her question seemed to break him out of his reverie. She could see the way his body tensed at her question, and whether it was because she cut him out of his thoughts of because of what she asked, she didn't know.
It took a quiet moment before Namor answered, looking in deep contemplation with his eyebrows furrowed deeply and his eyes growing darker. The next thing he uttered was so full of emotion that it flooded through the sentence, his voice sounding thicker than blood.
"Leti' ka'ach in reina. My queen. In k'iino' ka, in k'áak'náabo'."
(She was my queen. My sun and my sea.)
For a second her words refused to make it out of her mouth. The Wakandan princess' mind didn't wonder to Namor having a queen.
The Namor now wasn't like the Namor she had met in the shores of her land with her mother. The Namor now felt like a broken man who would go the farthest lengths to protect his people. With every counting second of being in this underwater cave, Shuri seemed to discover more and more about the man, slowly laying bare the walls he had built around himself.
"Is she-"
"She was.. she was killed by surface dwellers." The god cut off, as if he couldn't bear to hear the words coming out from someone else's lips. He closed his eyes for a moment and Shuri felt the sea grow quiet for a split second. It was like it remembered their lost queen.
He took a deep breathe before speaking out and if one were to listen closely, they could hear the slight shakiness in his voice, like talking about this particular incident tore his wounds open again. "Years ago the surface dwellers tried to find Talokan. They were told of an underwater city filled with glittering gold and diamonds, with a palace of precious metals whose value exceeds all else."
"They are greedy, always taking and taking what is not theirs—beasts who ravage land with no mind of its consequences. She was there where the land met the waters along with the young ones, and those monsters crossed paths with them." Namor shook his head, disdain present in the way he moved his body and his words.
"The first thing they did they raised their weapons, pointing it at her when all she did was offer them her hands. She tried to speak to them, to negotiate with peace and kindness. But they are blinded with hatred." He spat that word out and Shuri almost flinched at his tone.
"With no mercy they killed her and the children. They took their lives as if it was nothing to them."
"When I emerged to the surface.. she was already dying."
One of your handmaids had been the one to inform him of the situation, barging into his mural room right when he got back from a trip with a growing panic in her eyes as she screamed in anguish, 'Le reina! Le reina!'
"I turned to those murderers and treated them with how they treated my wife and the children; I killed them with no mercy."
The feathered serpent god will never forget the possessing rage he felt when he saw what those killers did to his wife. Without a single doubt in his movements he flew towards them like a strike of lightning and sliced their heads off before they could even scream.
Something that would always haunt his dreams was seeing his beloved die in his arms, unable to do anything, running out of time.
Sometimes, if the K'uk'ulkan thought too much about it, he could still feel the way he held you in his arms, the jarring coldness of your body that surged across his skin like a bloodthirsty frostbite.
Your hair fell in a pool beneath your head, encrusted with blood that he didn't know where it came from. There was too much, too much of it that slithered around your body. With trembling hands he supported the back of your neck, bringing your face closer as he cradled your cheeks in his palms.
"Ma', ma', in puksi'ik'al.. jaap wicho'ob, láayli' ma' jach a súutuko'," he pleaded, heart racing a thousand beats at your weakened state. His fingers stroked your temples, tracing the skin from your eyebrows to the high point of your cheek and you swore you would forever savor the feel of his skin on yours.
(No, no, my heart.. open your eyes, it's not your time yet,)
"It's al-..right, in amado." You choked out, holding the hand that held your face and leaning onto his palms with whatever energy you had left in you. It was getting harder to open your eyes or even speak, the hole in your chest rampaging your body like an unquenched beast.
"In ku. Let go, K'ukulkan. Ts'o'ok in meentik le ba'ax táan des-.. destinado in beetik waye'.. je'el u páajtal in je'elel bejla'e'.."
(They call me. I've done what I was meant to do here.. I can rest now..)
He ignored your terrifying acceptance and gently quieted you, pressing his lips onto your forehead in deep fervor. "Save you words, in yaakunaj-"
Namor's heart threatened to jump right out of his chest when he felt your hand go slightly limp, desperately taking it above the crook of his neck, right where the ends of his jaw met his ears. The king held onto you so tightly, trying to keep you grounded with him in the world of the living as if the warmth of his body would spread life to your decaying one. He saw you smile peacefully, like his touch rejuvenated you for a single beat, slowly yet surely stroking the tip of his pointed ears as you've always done whenever you had the chance to. It was a small act of affection that Namor fell weak to, and he couldn't contain the abrupt cry that fell from his lips at the familiar gesture.
"K'a'as a puksi'ik'al yéetel a-.. a yaakunaj, in ajawo'," but even then your stubborn and insistent nature persevered. You spoke with only him and your love for him in mind, silently telling him that this will not be the end. That despite after all this when you will no longer be there to tell him just how beloved and brave he is, he should still remember what he had learned—what he had taught you. You hoped that it would keep him grounded and true, still fierce but with compassion and empathy.
(Remember your heart and your love, my king,)
"In.. yaakunech," and you let our your final breathe, the light in your eyes no longer shining as you stared up into nothing. At the least you looked content to pass to the afterlife in your husbands arms, a gentle lift on the corner of your lips to signify that you've moved on. But along with your departure you tore apart of Namor that he didn't think could ever be replaced—left him with a half-ripped heart and as a shell of the man he once was.
(I love you)
Now, kneeling on the prickling pearly sand tainted with weeping carmine, he was not a god. He was not the king of a powerful underwater nation, he was not a lethal mutant, a hero, a villain, or a protector. No, he was just a man. A man whose heart had been punctured with a hole in the shape of his beloved.
He screamed at the world with the voice of someone who had just lost everything, scorning the surface dwellers with a burning pit of anger and vengeance in his blackened heart. It echoed around the area, bleeding onto every rock, every blade of grass and every tree with his promise of death. The sea grew restless, mirroring the raging currents in his soul.
Namor choked a cry, closing your eyes as his hands shook with grief and pain, body threatening to collapse under his heartbreak. He brought your face closer to his, resting his forehead against yours while he scrunched his eyes closed, disbelieving and mourning of the loss of his beloved. Because no matter how much he begged, how much he cried for you, you would never come back to him, never blessing him with that delicate smile on your face again. The god stayed there for what felt like hours and days, whispering sweet goodbyes, harrowing sobs and promises to avenge you.
When he carried your cold body to Talokan, the people could only stare in shock and despair over the loss of their darling queen. In their eyes you were one of the most powerful people in the kingdom, not just because of your position, but because of your compassion and your love—something that knew no bounds.
It was a painful and gut-wrenching experience, to bury his own wife. It brought him back to the time where he had to do the same to his own mother, to cover her in clothe and put a piece of maize inside her mouth.
"The surface dwellers have taken so much. Talokan's queen, our home and our freedom. I will not let them do so again." Namor had a scathing look in his eyes, a latent tone of tiredness from facing a world that only took from him.
"She must have been an amazing queen and a strong woman." Shuri could only utter these words with a solemn expression on her face, unable to reply to such vulnerability of someone she had considered a dangerous enemy. Despite that.. there was an underlying empathy between the two. Shuri understood him. She knew the pain of losing someone you love.
"She was." A calm visage eventually spread around his face as he looked up at the glorious mural depicted on the walls of the room. "She had the biggest heart and the kindest soul."
Namor couldn't help but get lost in his memories of his beautiful wife. He speaks no lies when he describes you. You were the people's queen, as what the Talokanil called you. You'd always visit the people, play games with the children and scour the underwater markets that sold all kinds of trinkets and foods. Whenever the people needed you you were always there, willing to help them without a second glance as you opened your heart to them all.
After you death, whenever he would swim around Talokan and talk to his people—laughing and joking around with them—there would be this.. serene melody inside his heart, a gentleness that ran through his veins. Namor would feel the water pulsing on the pads of his skin and he'd always take a moment to close his eyes to relish the feeling. Then a smile would make it onto his face—the kind of smile that you would always tell him to show more often. His people felt it too, like a warm embrace to their soul, as if you were watching over them, still caring about them even when you were gone.
It was not only to Talokan's people, but to the ocean's animals too.
If there was one thing about his queen, it was that you had a deep affinity with the marine animals. Whenever the king couldn't find you anywhere in your room or in the palace halls, Namor would only smile to himself and swim to the clearing of the sea just outside of Talokan, watching his wife croon along the whales and the orcas, taking care of them as if your love spoke a thousand languages.
"In ch'ujuk, ko'oten paakat!" You would shout, gleefully waving your hand up in the air with no care in the world.
(My sweet, come and look!)
Sometimes he would only stay back and watch you with eyes so tender that it looked like he was entirely captivated by you. By your voice, your laughter, your smile; your everything. Other times, Namor would be too taken by you (as he always was), deciding to join you play with the creatures that you'd called 'your babies'. Whirling and chasing them around them felt like dancing in the water and Namor was too in love to ever deny you of your little joy.
Even now whenever the whales would call out to the sea, or when the orcas whistled and clicked along, he could still hear your radiant laughter singing along with them and oh how he longed to hear that sound again, to hear the melody of the ocean in its fullness.
You were simply the glue to Talokan; everyone adored the queen.
Until now, your throne still sat next to his, the jade and vibranium never ceasing to glow. Every time he sat there, watching over his people and celebrating his kingdom with defiant shouts of "L'ik'ik Talokan" he would always remember your face, remember the proud look you had when you would raise your fist to your chest along with everyone. Your memory will never fade in the heart of Talokan, always lingering in the brightest places, comforting during troubling times, because you will always be a precious piece of the kingdom that neither he nor his people would forget.
If he brought the sun to his people, you were the sun to him.
"You and I, we are not so different, princess." He broke his train of thought.
"Those people only see us as threats because they know we are powerful. They will not stop until they have what they want. It is a danger to my kingdom and my people—a threat to your people too."
Finally, Namor turned his head to face Shuri, a determined aura lingering in his voice and in his expression. She felt compelled to stare back straight into his eyes, the conviction in his tone like a true king. "And so I offer you again."
"Join me, and we will never have to see our people suffer, to see our loved ones suffer. We will no longer mourn our losses and bury the dead for unjust cruelty."
"Together, we will watch the world burn."

This shit is so cute and fluffy I-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching the Dora Milaje practice was one of your favorite hobbies. You never failed to be amazed by the way they moved around while fighting. If it weren’t for your royal status, you would’ve probably been within the ranks by now. Your mother and father quickly shot that notion down, fearing for your safety. Your brother and sister, on the other hand, supported you all the way. You smiled softly as you remembered the nights when the three of you would train with wooden spears as children, the main goal being able to knock the other down three times in one match. It was a struggle to explain away the bruises you guys got from those training sessions, but it was worth it for the memories you gained.
Your thoughts got interrupted when Shuri sat next to you and started making small talk.
"What are you doing out here, Y/N? I thought you and mother were going out for lunch?"
"That was the plan, but something came up."
You sighed softly and shrugged while looking at her.
"So it's been pushed back."
She frowned and patted your head, trying to make you feel a bit better.
"Well…how about we get lunch then?"
You looked at her like she had grown three heads, making her almost back out of her offer when she realized what was going to happen next.
"Shuri? Out of her lab? Bast must really love me huh?"
She rolled her eyes at you while you squished her cheeks.
"I hate you."
"No no, you love me soooo much I know it."
She stood up and offered her hand toward you, which you gladly accepted. Two hours later you were seated at a local diner located on the outskirts of the city. Even though both of you knew how to defend yourselves if necessary, your mother still insisted that Ayo accompany you. Eventually, your food arrived, and you two talked while you ate.
"So… mother is letting me go to America to recruit some people for our outreach program. And I was wondering if you’d like to come with me?"
"I should get out of the house more… Alright when are we going?"
You fought the urge to laugh when Shuri’s face lit up like a child's. She clapped her hands softly as she beamed at you, her excitement impossible to not notice.
"We’re going to leave in the next two days, so that should be enough time for you to pack."
She looked at you mischievously, knowing that you tended to overpack, even for the shortest of travels.
"Try not to bring your whole wardrobe with you this time usisi."
You sucked your teeth at her in annoyance while she smirked at you.
"It’s called being prepared for anything."
"I think the phrase you’re looking for is ‘an over packer’ but if it helps you sleep at night…"
You two bickered like this all the way back to the palace. Even though it should have driven you mad, you honestly appreciated that Shuri’s lightheartedness was still there, even after everything that had happened.
Two days later, you finally stood at the opening of the royal aircraft after hours of your mother reminding you guys to be careful. You understood where she was coming from and made sure to reassure her that you and Shuri would be alright. After a final kiss and hug goodbye, the jet took off, and you allowed yourself time to marvel at how gorgeous your country was from a bird’s eye view.
"I almost forgot how magnificent our home is."
"Perfect timing to remind you then huh?"
You giggled at her remark and nodded your head in agreement.
"Yes, I suppose it is."
Ayo and Aneka watched you two fondly, clearly pleased with how the princesses were talking to each other like it was old times.
Tumblr media
You got woken up by Shuri shaking your shoulder and poking your cheek. You grumbled in annoyance as you shooed her hands away. Eventually, she just picked you up like a sack of potatoes and began to walk to the door of the jet. You groaned loudly as you got jostled around, quickly getting fed up with the situation at hand.
"For Bast’s sake, Shuri PUT ME DOWN!"
"Oh look who’s up!"
Shuri smiled at Aneka, who was trying her hardest not to laugh at you two.
“I don’t think I will just yet though.”
She proceeded to carry you to the car, which was admittedly a couple of steps away. She put you down gently, chuckling when she caught a glimpse of your glare. You flicked her forehead gently and slid into the car, with Aneka taking a seat right next to you. After placing your bags in your hotel rooms, you and Shuri decided to explore the city for a bit, your first stop being somewhere to eat. This time, Aneka was with you two. Shuri led you to a small diner nestled among the taller buildings, and you quickly strode your way into the building, the smell of freshly cooked meat landing on your nose immediately.
"So far, yes… I guess a change of scenery was what I needed."
You guys ordered your food and sat down in one of the booths that were tucked away in the corners of the diner. Aneka sat in between you two while she ate her salad quietly. You took a bite out of your burger, looking at the architecture of the building.
“Getting any inspiration for your next mural, usisi?”
Shuri nodded in understanding, but she froze when she spotted someone walking through the front door. You raised an eyebrow at her, and you looked at Aneka to figure out what the hell was going on. Aneka followed Shuri’s line of sight, a knowing smile forming on her face when she realized what she looking at. Aneka leaned over to whisper to you, and you smirked at Shuri like the gremlin you are.
"Does my big sister have her eye on someone?"
“You hush.”
You wiggled your eyebrows at her with a teasing smile.
"Is this why you’ve been going to America so much? Aww, that’s so cute! Well if that’s the case, then…She must frequent this place then. You were the person who took us here."
Shuri looked away from you in pure embarrassment, knowing for a fact that she had been found out.
“Okay, okay. Yes, I do have an interest in her, but I doubt she’d like me you know?”
"Well, have you spoken to her before?"
“...No…”
"Oh Bast, Shuri you are helpless."
Aneka nodded with you in agreement, even though she was trying to stay out of the conversation as much as possible.
“Well, I can’t just walk up to her.”
"Watch me."
You strode over to the girl, trying to be as casual as possible. She looked up at you from her seat, confusion painfully obvious on her face. You waved politely at her, trying to think of anything to say.
“Can I… help you..?”
"Oh, um… I couldn’t help but notice your hair. It’s really pretty."
You winced at your words, seriously regretting even walking over to her in the first place.
“Oh, thanks. I did em myself.”
"Oh, that’s cool! I actually have a question to ask you. "
She nodded toward you, waiting for you to elaborate.
“I came over here to ask if you’d be interested in working with the Wakandan outreach program."
“Oh, word? What’s it about?”
You were about to explain, but Shuri made the mistake of walking behind you to throw away her food. As she made her way back to your table, you grabbed her arm, dragging her into the conversation.
Tumblr media
“I think my sister would be able to explain it better than I could."
Somehow Shuri managed to get the girl, who you now knew as Riri, to join. The walk back home consisted of you and Aneka cooing over Shuri’s puppy love.
“Remind me to never tell you about my crushes ever again.”
“Heyy, at least you actually spoke to her. She seems really nice honestly."
“I looked like a fool!”
“Nothing new for you though."
Shuri looked about ready to strangle you right there, but Aneka gracefully placed herself in between you two. You smirked at Shuri, knowing she wouldn’t be able to get to you now.
Of course, when you guys got to the hotel, Ayo got the entire rundown of everything that had happened. Needless to say, Shuri was thoroughly embarrassed.
You beamed with pride when Riri walked through the door of the outreach center the next day. You were given the task of meaning the front desk, and you were taking your job very seriously. Riri strode over to your station, evidently nervous about this whole thing. You gave her a reassuring smile while you handed her the paper to write her information on.
“I know paperwork is annoying but… here."
She nodded her head in understanding, quickly filled out the sheet, and handed it back to you. You quickly skimmed over it, mainly to figure out what she would be best suited for.
“It looks like you’re going to be working with my sister today."
You noticed the way her eyes widened a bit at your words, and you decided to play coy with her for a little bit.
“Would you… prefer to work with someone else Riri?"
“NO- No. Nah I’m alright with working with her no problem.”
You nodded softly and led her to one of the rooms on the right side of the building. You opened the door to see Shuri seated with five children, who were all in awe of the drone Shuri was controlling with her beads. Riri nodded at you in thanks, and you closed the door to the room quietly.
Another perk of working at the front desk was getting to see how pleased Riri looked when she left at the end of the day. You grinned at her knowingly.
“Would I be right to assume that you enjoyed yourself?"
“Oh definitely. Honestly, I’m surprised I enjoyed myself that much. Not a big fan of kids you know?”
You nodded, completely understanding where she was coming from.
“Same time tomorrow then?"
“Oh for sure. I gotta bounce though but… would you mind giving this to your sister?”
She sheepishly slid over a piece of paper to you, and before you could react to it, she had already left.
“What was that all about?”
“BAST! Shuri what the hell?"
“I didn’t mean to scare you I swear.”
You rolled your eyes as you handed Shuri the paper.
“Riri asked me to give this to you."
For a second, you thought someone was playing music on full blast outside, but it was Shuri’s heart going a mile a minute.
“It looks like your crush like you back."
You patted her shoulder, pride practically radiating off of you as you looked at Shuri.
“You can thank me later.”

☆ riri — your first kiss with riri was sweet, it was cute too. she wanted to wait until you and hers fifth date. it was the fourth of july and you both didn’t celebrate it y’all are black… , but she decided to take you out to see the fireworks. you both drove to a secluded area, popping the trunk and sitting in it with a shared blanket over your laps. she admired the way the moonlight made your skin glow, she took in your features for a minute. when the fireworks went off, you locked eyes with her, talking about how beautiful the fireworks were, when all she could focus on was you. she reached her hand up to your face, turning your head to face her again and kissed you, caressing your heated cheek after. “you’re so beautiful, (y/n).”
☆ shuri — your first kiss with shuri was.. an accident. not saying you both didn’t want to, but she didn’t necessarily mean to kiss you. you were in her lab helping her with one of her big projects. you were a close friend of hers, so she trusted you the most to help her. you gave her some tips, and fixed one of her equations, and when she realized you were right she was ecstatic. “oh my god, OH MY GOD! IT WORKED!!” she cheered, shaking you, making you chuckle. you feel a kiss on your lips, it was fast and you weren’t expecting it. it was as if she didn’t even notice, still cheering about how your equation worked. “shuri…” you call out. “yes? yes?” she says, still focused on her completed project. “you just kissed me..” you croaked, watching her eyes widen a bit, before her lips curl into a little smirk. “i’m sorry princess, want me to give you a better one?”
☆ okoye — your first kiss with okoye was.. definitely unexpected. you were a dora in training, and you often bugged okoye about letting you train with her. “please okoye, i don’t wanna train with ayo anymore.” you whine, following close behind her. “has anyone ever told you, you are utterly annoying.” she stops walking to scold at you. “i have, quite often actually!” you smile, continuing on about how training with ayo was boring. as you babbled on, okoye pulls you into a unexpected kiss, shutting you right up. when she pulls away she looks down at you. “are you finished with your mindless whining? hm?”
☆ nakia — your first kiss with nakia was also unexpected, but more for her than you. you were walking with her, you two just wanted to take a nice walk together. she stops walking, which makes you stop as well, looking at her with concern. “hey.. so i kinda wanna like, kiss you. not in a weird way or anything i just think.. we’ve been talking for a little while ya know?” she murmurs, fiddling with her hands. “i mean, it’s okay if you don’t wa-” you roll your eyes, cutting her off with a kiss. when you pull away you giggle and continue walking, leaving her in shock that you just did that. “damn it, i should’ve done it myself.”

Namor enter quietly to his quarters, not wanting to disturb you if you were resting. He remembered the moment he saw you laying on his bed, so pale and weak, that the thought of loosing you terrified him. He just couldn’t stand seeing you like that. He couldn’t. You were everything, his strength, his heart, his soul. He was a changed man because of you.
You opened your eyes at the sound of him, a smile immediately forming on your face. “Hi.” You whispered.
“In yakunaj.” He kneeled at your side, his hands quickly grabbing yours, kissing your palms. “How are you feeling? Do you need anything?”
You laugh. “I have everything I could ever need at the moment.”
Namor smiled, even after all this time, he waiting for you to ask anything, you would always deny that offer. “You are glowing.” One of his hands left yours and brush away the few strands of hair that glued to your face thanks to the sweat. “Jats'uts.”
“So you are saying I was not beautiful before?” You said, the smile still on your face. Namor shook his head in amusement. “Have you seen them?”
“Not yet.” He kissed your forehead. “I wanted to see you first, needed to make sure you didn’t leave me.”
“As if I could leave you alone.” You whispered back.
As if on cue, Namora entered smiling, two little bundles tucked on her arms. “K'uk'ulkan.” She nodded at Namor, turning quickly to you. “In reina.”
Namor left your side for a moment, walking towards Namora, gently taking away one of the babies. He couldn’t help but smile at the sight of his son, cradling him as gently as he could. You had given him so much more than he ever expected to have. Much more than he deserved.
Namora soflty place the baby girl on your arms, her fingers tracing the features of the infant with so much wonder before taking her leave, leaving both parents to bond with their children.
He walked to you, sitting on your side. Your head rested on his arm, as he watched both of his children. “Meent in ts'áaik teen asab ti' le ba'ax je'el k'áatik, Nib óolal in yaakunaj.” He kissed your forehead, making you close your eyes. Namor couldn’t help the tears that began falling down on his face, looking back and forth between his children. “I vow to protect them, to protect you.”
You hummed, a bit tired from everything. “You don’t have to vow anything, I know you will do it regardless.” Your tired eyes watched how your husband brushed his hand over your son’s bald head. At that moment, you love him even more than you had before.
“The others want to meet them soon.” Namor whispered against your hair, noticing how your eyes began to close. “I manage to appease them for a little bit, but I am afraid that they will demand to know them soon.”
“I know, Namora didn’t leave my side until they were born, I think she even threatened the midwife when she made a mistake.” You laughed, your eyes finally closed.
Namor hummed in approval. “Remind me to thank her later.” He put his son on the basket, the one that the old women from Talokan had given him before, repeating the action with his daughter. “Rest, in yaakunaj, you have earn it.”
“Stay.” You muttered against his chest.
“I wasn’t planning on leaving.”
