Oh I have a LOT. If you’re as insane about this ship as I am, you’ve probably read all of them but I’m still going to list them down anyway. So, in no particular order:

Whiny Little Pitch by petersgwen - this fic literally made me scream multiple times. everything by this author is chef’s kiss btw. Sports au like no other + exes to lovers

Apartment 305 by waddled - a literal serotonin boost monster of a fic that i’m sure most already know about . i love percy and annabeth’s relationship here, and their characterization. It’s got college romance, olympic athlete Percy, and pipabeth bffism at its finest.

Five Times Percy Jackson Cheated at School by lammermoorian - man this one I reread a lot. I just love it so much. Academic!Percy, domestic percabeth, and just a whole lot of charm

Honesty and Promise Me by Darkmagyk, lammermoorian - never thought I would enjoy punk!annabeth until this fic. it has unexpected pregnancy but it’s so well done! fwb to lovers!

For Real This Time by captainjackson, timelesslords - anything written by this pair is a must-read, but this is one of their best! roman!percy and divorced annabeth! the premise is so interesting and the setting even more so.

Murkiest Intentions by inkncoffee - i feel like this fic shows my age, but when i tell you it’s a classic! jurassic world au (it sounds crazy but it’s so good) i’ve been rereading this since high school and it still holds up

The Heart is a Muscle by thebackupkid - I feel like this one is so underrated, but it’s so good and so interesting and distinct! it’s got magic and adventure and fantasy! the worldbuilding again is so good!

Impossible Year by bananannabeth - another pain in fiction form. but this time it has a breakup trope, which destroys me so much I always need years before i want to reread this again. but it’s a masterpiece and you should experience it at least once in your life!!

Game, Set, Match by ananbeth, blackjacktheboss - if there’s a classic percabeth sports au, it’s this. and it has fwb too and it’s just too iconic

Stucco Hearts by ananbeth, writergirl8 - another fandom classic, but this time it’s a soulmate au! this is so so interesting and one of my favorite soulmate aus ever. the worldbuilding is so interesting. another case of it’s a classic for a reason!

Puck It by bipercabeth, jasonmclean - hockey au + friends w benefits. again, another fandom classic. unfortunately i think this was discontinued by the authors but it’s still too good not to read!

Night at the Museum by lammermoorian - it’s so niche and crazy and camp but also angsty and fluffy and you need to read it right this second ! i LOVE this one

faster than a hairpin trigger by medeaa - this one is the quintessential percabeth fwb college au TO ME. unfortunately it’s (potentially) discontinued, but it’s still one of my favorites.

watch me fall at your feet by maydayparade8123 - this is a really well-written friends to lovers fic that realt explored how confusing it is to fall in love with your best friend like,, it’s a classic but also it’s so real !! this author is a fandom icon but i think they deleted / orphaned their accounts on ff.net and ao3

Some of my most favourite AUs from HoO is of

1) Roman!Percy being switched to Camp Half Blood while Greek!Jason is in Cam Jupiter

2) Annabeth and Reyna are the ones who are switched instead

There are some really good stories in both of these.

But what I am quite interested is in Annabeth and Reyna are switched except this time there is also Roman!Percy at Camp Jupiter as the Co-Praetor with Reyna and Greek!Jason is the leader of Camp Half-Blood with Annabeth.

This is a good plot point to dish out their powers, skills and trauma ('cause where will we be without angst and PTSD).

I just think there is a lot of potential to it. I kind of got the idea from would it really kill you (if we kissed) by @greenconverses. It's one of the best stories ever, go read it if you haven't already.

Plus there are quite a few stories where Percy is a god and Annabeth's the Titan Killer not unlike the aforementioned story where both are Titan Killers.

Hours helping the kids with their homework: Percy misses the days when all he had to do was sort the green apples from the red ones.

i think one place where this fandom fails quite miserably in terms of critical thinking and consumption is understanding that these characters cannot make their own decisions. as the author, all decision making comes down to rick! and while it’s wonderful to find comfort in characters whose life experience you relate to, that does not mean rick’s decisions to give that character those experiences is exempt from criticism. many women have children at an older age, and that’s wonderful for them! but sally jackson cannot make that decision. she is not real. and she is not your mom! rick decided that after all she’s been through, he was going to give her a baby. a real woman who made her own decision to have another child after a lifetime of trauma and a newly empty nest might find this decision empowering! but sally jackson is not a real woman! 

not to mention that rick is the one who gave sally that lifetime of trauma! maybe from a plot perspective it worked best for her to have no living family, but sally’s life is just. brutal. it’s told sparingly and lovingly by a twelve year old percy in tlt, but her parents die when she’s five years old, and she drops out of high school to take care of the uncle who raised her as he dies from cancer. by 20 she is a single mom raising a kid who is a powerful demigod, and only means of protecting him are to enter an abusive marriage with a man whose scent will cover percy’s, or lose her only family to be trained as a child soldier year round. sally is a kind person who does her best as a mother, but this “trauma makes you kind” narrative rick pulls with her is bullshit! sally could be just as kind and capable of a mother without a lifetime of suffering behind her. 

also! portraying sally as this infallible supermom is harmful too! it’s wonderful for fans to see a mother and son with such unconditional love for each other, but the narrative of the perfect mother is genuinely harmful! not only is sally not a perfect mom, but to write her as one is harmful to both mothers and their children. parents, especially single moms, already struggle so much with the pressure to be perfect, which simply isn’t a possible standard! and kids deserve to see parents who love their children make mistakes and apologize for making those mistakes. even if they didn’t mean to hurt their kid. even if it was done out of misguided love. that would be such a powerful thing to see in children’s media. 

regardless of rick’s intention, it comes off as him not valuing women unless they are mothers (stealing that from @himbokorra), and perfect ones at that. the way he writes sally is a microcosm of the way he writes mothers in general. look at the mothers in pjo and hoo. poseidon is allowed to be a fallible, largely absent father with complex motivations and an equally complex relationship with percy. same goes for frederick chase and annabeth, tristan mclean and piper, AND hermes and luke. meanwhile may castellan, miss chase, beryl grace, and marie levesque are not extended the same kind lens. sally jackson and esperanza valdez are the infallible, tragic supermoms. 

(this post is referring specifically to sally jackson, but it’s doubly important to remember this idea as it relates to characters of color and queer characters, but those points have been articulated far better by people far more qualified than me. i’ll link some in a reblog once i find them.)

a fanfic i always reach for !!

when it comes to fanfiction, i feel like i’m the kind of person to just read whatever’s put in front of my if it sounds interesting or fun to read. bUT when i tell you this is probably the one fanfiction i will consistently pick up when i feel like i just want to be back in my percabeth feels, im SERIOUS.

the story revolves around percy and annabeth (among others that we loved in the original books) who are professional tennis players. annabeth and percy hook up one night and decide to become friends w benefits (which… knowing what we know about percy and annabeth … simply does not go well at all). they hook up in hotel rooms across the world, go on cute dates, and (SPOILER ALERT) fall in love <3

I think my favorite thing about this fanfiction (besides the fact that i can project heavily on the experiences of annabeth in the fic) is that the sexual interactions between percy and annabeth are not explicit but rather written as though someone is describing to you a piece of art in a museum. i don’t think i’ve ever read anything remotely sexual and felt like i was gonna cry by how beautiful the encounter was written. 

SERIOUSLY if you have the time consider giving this fanfiction the attention and adoration it so dearly deserves :))
