Good morning. I just realized that the one time Poseidon gave Percy a birthday gift he strung it on his necklace and wore it constantly. He spent all year thinking about it and trying to figure out what Poseidon wanted him to buy with it. Sanddollars are 2-4 inches in diameter meaning that it would've been resting above his heart. I am going to fucking cry.

And then I realized. Percy has his sand dollar necklace. Sally has her pearl necklace. Poseidon has his ocean stone necklace. I'm fucking crying.

I think that people who hate Rick Riordan for JK Rowling disliking him or because he made his character black in the movie are inherently racist and/or transphobic.

He chose that girl to play his character because she fit the spirit of her perfectly, and she's amazing in the act. Plus, Disney has a anti-discriminaion policy, so he can't deny her the role just because she's black. It's against their policy. So what if she's black anyways, who the fuck cares? You just hate her because she's black.

And JK Rowling hates him because he said that 'trans women are women' so fuck off.

I don't know of any other drama with him, but he's the damn best author there is. And he has the best morals I've seen outta all of them. So seriously, stop.

Every time Percy and Poseidon meet in PJO, Poseidon finds a way to compliment Percy and let him know that Poseidon is proud of him.

In the lightning thief, Poseidon tells Percy that he's a true son of the sea and that he's proud of him.

In the titans curse, one of the first things Poseidon says to Percy after the council meeting (where he put himself on the line and vouched for Percy) is you've done well.

In the battle of the labyrinth, I don't remember if Poseidon explicitly says he's proud/Percy did well, but he does say that Percy is his favorite son. Which is huge in Percy's POV - he calls it the greatest bday gift ever.

In the last olympian, Poseidon hugs Percy in front of the entire Olympian council, his cyclops army and the demigods and tells Percy that he's the greatest hero.

Which makes HoO so jarring - Poseidon doesn't show up to talk to Percy even once? He doesn't send messengers like he did in the lightning thief and sea of monsters when he couldn't go in person. He doesn't ask if Percy's okay after Tartarus, not like he did after Percy nearly got himself blown up in the volcano in battle of the labyrinth. He doesn't tell Percy he did well, or even say a single word to him. It's completely out of character for Poseidon. Rick Riodan has no excuse imo. It's inconsistent writing and character assassination. I will never forgive him for it.

Apollo looked smug, as if to say that his children made better memes. Finally, the woman cleared her throat and turned to Percy. “I’m guessing he’s the one you want checked into the mental hospital?” She asked. Triton gasped as Percy punched the air in victory. “Aha!” Or: Getting in trouble works a little differently when your parent is an all-powerful god. Sometimes you have to escape to the land beyond gods and get your immortal brother turned human to drag you back so you can be exploded a million pieces. You know, normal teenage stuff.
