★ ONE PIECE. (manga re-read): ch. 339/????. I am technically "caught up" through the end of Wano and peep on spoilers for the ongoing arc, but as I speed-read the entire thing in a month last year, I'm not always super confident in my grasp on the second half of the series because I was so ready to be caught up. Wano grasp is particularly abysmal but I'm okay with exploring ongoing Egghead stuff with Law in interactions. [Potential muses: Baby 5, Mihawk, Usopp] ★ FAIRY TAIL. (manga first-time read): ch. 285/545.

★ POKEMON (mostly Kanto/Johto stuff though). I grew up on Pokémon and love lol things Kanto/Johto but haven’t watched, played, or read anything since Ruby and Sapphire were current content. I’m starting from scratch and working my way up again, beginning with Pokemon Adventures (manga) and Pokémon Origins + an original Kanto rewatch on Netflix.

★ ONE PIECE. see above. ★ FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD. I haven't watched FMA (2003) in years, but it's on my list to revisit. [Potential muses: Winry Rockbell] ★ DEMON SLAYER. Have dabbled in Demon Slayer muses and plan to bring them back after a rewatch to spark my muse again. [Potential muses: TBD pending revisit.] ★ FAIRY TAIL. Reading for the first time. Current progress: ch. 285/545. Potential muses (once I've completed my read only): Cana Alberona, Loke, Gray Fullbuster, Levy McGarden. CHARLOTTE. Anime. This is one I would love to explore AU plots based on. It's short (13 episodes?) and I would probably revisit before jumping into anything but highly recommend if you're looking for a short anime to watch sometimes. ★ NORAGAMI. I slacked off following the manga there for a bit at the end and would need to revisit, but might add muses after a re-read. [Potential muses: TBD pending revisit.] ★ TOILET-BOUND HANAKO-KUN. HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE. (Also reading the book trilogy at the moment, currently on 2/3. Potential muses: Sophie Hatter, Lettie Hatter, Martha Hatter.) SPIRITED AWAY. BARBIE (2023).

Books:

A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES. I loooove ACTOAR but it's admittedly been a while. I want to reread soon! (mun confession: after getting @climatact I realized the full extent to which Law is accidentally/unintentionally Rhys-coded. Oops.) ARTEMIS FOWL My all-time favorite book series. I re-read this at least once a year. I doubt I'll add muses, but I'm definitely familiar enough with it I feel like I could muse almost anyone. PRIDE & PREJUDICE. Won't add muses, but enjoy a lot of themes & character tropes/archetypes here. THE LAST UNICORN. [finished 2/19/2024.]

Just a little housekeeping:

When you submit requests can you please do one request per ask? No one’s in trouble, I just realized I never specified that. It just makes things easier for organization purposes so other people can find things too!

I updated the masterlist(s) and queue because I was a few days behind on adding posted works to them, but it’s all up to date now.

Also, I’ve been pondering a color/theme change so that might happen soon too. Nothing drastic, all links and blog navigation will remain the same.

Now the more personal stuff you can skip, I’m just yapping: Um wow, almost 900 followers is insane???? I never thought this many people would like what I’m doing, and I’m very grateful for all of you, the friends I made through this blog and support you’ve given me.

Now for the mini trauma dump lmao: I started this blog under a sorta pseudonym as something to do while I was recovering from emergency reconstructive surgery in my knee. I’ve been rehabbing since December and while I’ve been physically disabled since birth, I’m now trying to navigate the additional differences my life has. Relearning to walk is hard and progress is slow. Out of all the things I’ve been through, including the decision to amputate my left leg due to an issue with my physical condition and then relearning to walk at 17, this has genuinely been the worst and absolute hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I’m walking about 20ft - 30ft at a time now with assistance, which doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s massive and I hit a huge goal earlier today so I think that’s why I’m in my feelings a bit lol. 🩵🌸

progress update + a lot of housekeeping!

hi friends!!!

these past few days have been hefty on the writing front; i've been able to crank out 5k today alone, pushing chapter 1 closer and closer to completion! that means the time for me to post the demo is still steadily approaching - a little snippet of that can be found at the bottom of this post.

with this update i want to give you guys a little insight into who i am and how i'm approaching this project vs. this blog, as i know there are other IF authors who are much more active on tumblr than i am.

i would love to be more active on here, give you guys faster answers to asks and more frequent updates, and be able to put in as much work on writing Folksaga at the same time. unfortunately that's not how my brain works, and between my job + the usual Adult Stuff And/Or Things, i pretty often have to prioritize. because of this i've made the executive-level decision to put writing first, and this blog as a second priority.

the main reason i'm making this clear is because i don't want you guys to ever worry that a lack of activity from me on here = Folksaga is on hiatus, being delayed, not being worked on, etc. it's not!!!!!!!!! i'm just bad at multitasking, and want to make sure i'm putting out the best quality writing within as reasonable of a timeframe as i can.

i'll still answer asks as regularly as i'm able, but please know if you ever send something in and it takes a few days for me to answer i'm not ignoring you, i just want to be able to take time with my responses to your questions and will carve out time as soon as i'm able to do so 💕

as for the demo: a poll will come soon with another question, but for now here's a little teaser of a potential first meeting with a certain Eldest Boy. i say potential as whether or not it happens at all is entirely choice-dependent; there are two other newcomers that you could just as easily find yourself bumping into before work as well.

Author's Note and Transcript Under the Cut

(AN: Hello! Thank you for stopping by and checking out my fledgling fundie simblr. I’m by no means new to simblr, but because this blog and story is new, I figure an introduction is due.

So: hey, I’m Talia! I had another fundie simblr a few years back (it’s now inactive for a multitude of reasons), but like a certain someone, I have risen again! My fundie sims obsession was reignited over the summer after I joined a wonderful fundie sims-themed Discord server. Somehow they convinced me to make a new blog, and a few months later, here we are! In the intervening years I continued to lurk, so if you’re an active fundie simblr, I’m probably a fan of your story.

I’ve been playing the de la Cruz family for a while now and they have a special place in my heart- I can’t wait to share them with everyone else! Get ready for lots of God-honoring drama, mildly dubious baby names, and leopard-print modesty undershirts. Note that as the de la Cruzes are fundamentalists and this story is satire-heavy, there will be some viewpoints expressed that I very much disagree with. I’ll trigger tag certain sensitive subjects (e.g. physical violence, miscarriages) as ‘tw [thing]’ but fundie-typical bullshit will go untagged for the sake of my sanity.

Every Sunday, Praising Him! features a family dedicated to spreading the Word. Today we meet the de la Cruzes, a San Sequoian family of 16.

When Alejandro and Alina (née Fletcher) de la Cruz married at nineteen, they could not have imagined what would come next! Over the past twenty-six years, the couple has made faith the centerpiece of their lives, and has continued to “Praise Him!” through the ups and downs of busy family life.

Alejandro, 45, works as a programmer at United Christian Publishers, and holds a Distinguished Degree in Computer Science from Foxbury Christian University. He began his journey into higher education not at 18, like many students, but at 26, shortly after the birth of his seventhborn, Cecilia! Owing to his unique circumstances, he chose to enroll in a six-year program that enabled him to work full-time as a freelance programmer in addition to his courseload. Though money was tight at times, the Lord provided, and Alejandro welcomed five bundles of joy (including a darling set of twins!) with wife Alina while enrolled at Foxbury. Whew!

Alina, 45, has chosen to fulfill God’s design for women by staying at home with her family. Raised in a devout household, she always knew He was calling her toward marriage and motherhood, and she says the “greatest blessing” in her life was the day she gave birth to her eldest son Gabriel, ten months after her wedding day and just shy of her twentieth birthday. In addition to raising and homeschooling the seven de la Cruz children who have yet to graduate, Alina is active in her church and in Institute for Strong Christian Standards (ISCS) circles, and enjoys spending time with her four (soon to be five!) beautiful grandbabies. A true Proverbs 31 woman if we’ve ever seen one!

You may recognize Gabriel de la Cruz and his lovely wife Esther, 23, from last summer’s print edition of Praising Him! At just 25, Gabriel is a rising star in the Christian legal world, coming to the aid of innocent Simericans simply trying to practice their faith. Ten months ago, they welcomed their first little girl, Abigail, and just last week they announced the upcoming arrival of their second child! Congratulations to them.

Althea Brown (née de la Cruz), 24, is following in her mother’s footsteps and proud of it! The young woman, who wed husband John-David, 28, three years ago, resides in Newcrest and is a content stay-at-home-mother of two.

Jasmine Booth (née de la Cruz), 23, known to friends and family as “Jazzy,” is enjoying the bliss of new parenthood alongside her husband of two years, Jason!

The first set of de la Cruz twins, Joshua and Sofia, 21, are both unattached and living at home. Sofia is pursuing a calling in missionary work, and Joshua is hard at work saving money and praying for his future family. “If you’re reading this as a young Christian woman,” Sofia jests, “have your father write into Praising Him! and I’ll set up a date with Josh!”

Caterina de la Cruz, 20, is diligently knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidering, and cross-stitching her way through her season of singleness! Though she prays every day for her Prince Charming (nonbelievers need not apply!), she assures Praising Him! that she’s quite content to assist her mother in running the busy de la Cruz household in the interim.

Cecilia de la Cruz, 18, the only unmarried de la Cruz not living at home, declined to comment.

The rest of the de la Cruz children, who range in age from 8 to 17, are kept busy with homeschooling, ISCS conferences, music practice, and Bible study.

Tumblr Power Polls Q5 + extra

Some housekeeping before I list today's question.

Eventually we are going to get to the point that I can't just list off a bunch of labels I've thought of.

For example, let's say desire breaker won. I could make up a bunch of stuff it could feed off (attention, strong emotions, parasite etc) but I might not think of everything and you guys definitely have cool ideas.

So from this point onwards I will have a 'next questions' part, where I will say what the next question is and if I want audience suggestions on options to vote on. If you have suggestions, either message me, comment or put them in reblogs. I will attribute them to whoever does so (unless they don't want me to).

Additionally, for some minor questions I will put up 2 at once. Or for major questions I feel should be voted on at the same time. For those I will put a clear indicator at the start of the post, and any additional polls in the reblogs (as I can't have more than one poll per blog)

Q4: What type of Breaker? Fate Breaker. Benefits after you transform, consequences when you transform back. A focus on action and consequences.

Wildbow explicitly noted that fate breakers have some issues with their civilian identities due to the negative consequences.

A future question will be what the benefits and consequences are. If anyone has suggestions they can start early.

Now I tried to use the weaverdice doc for this, but I ran into some difficulties. While the breaker categories were fairly clear and distinct, the stranger ones were less so. Apparently wildbow has redone stranger a few times, and to be honest? I couldn't really tell what some of them were supposed to mean or how some were classified as stranger. Some I could see as stranger, but not purely stranger.

For example, Ambush strangers are described as

"Ambush strangers are heavy damage dealers or combat capes with very conditional strength.  This may require flanking, timing, careful use of battlefield, or disadvantaged targets."

Which I understand what it's telling me but I don't know how that translates to a stranger power. I could see a brute that's stronger when undetected could fit there, but not a pure stranger.

Similarly a creep stranger is described as

"Creep strangers are strangers who can avoid danger or obtain access by way of agility, movement modes, or physical adaptations"

Which feels like it will always be a mover stranger.

Bedevil strangers also fit here

"Bedevil strangers produce effects that are more offensive sort, primarily focused around debilitating and crushing others without directly harming them. They might bind, tie, mire, and hamper, or set up effects that threaten foes but only if conditions are met. Often utilize effects that involve poisons, parasites, or other vectors that may have a weak initial effect but provide the opportunity for a greater effect later, often with timing involved, (non-emotion) master-like influence or personal benefits."

As such I ain't using all the categories.

Additionally I've added a category, mislabel, as I felt strangers like Nice Guy would fit in multiple sections and like those sortof effects enough that I wanted to cordon them off. I am biased

So here's the categories:

Machination - indirect effects that make combat and infiltration easier, in a way that isn't just increased combat strength.

For example, gasconades power will erase any trace of his presence after a short period, earning him a small stranger rating.

Abandon - strangers that can make themselves dissappear. Stereotypical stranger, makes themselves invisible, produce less sound etc.

Unsense - effects that mask them from others senses. Abandon strangers go invisible, unsense prevent people seeing them.

'Mislabel' - abandon strangers are hard to sense, unsense are masked from senses, Mislabel causes people to incorrectly label you or your actions. For example, Nice guy, who gets labeled as a non threat.

Mask - produce illusions or misdirections.

Nox - powerful always on rules for interactions. I believe August Prince (cannot be conciously attacked) and blindside (cannot be looked or aimed at) are examples of this.

Charm - influences emotions to produce stranger effect. Stranger (rating) by way of master (effect) if you will.

Warp - strangers who can avoid attacks, danger, or slip through defenses by way of bent rules, distortions, otherworldly details or disruptions in the standard rules.

i'm gonna be here kinda off and on bc i'm going to work on school stuff! and bc my inspiration's been decent, i might reblog a lil spicy meme over on @tvrningon and something fluffy here, though ofc you're free to send in any meme i've reblogged in the past <3 i also have an inbox call that i'll probably work on sometime later today!

and just to kinda share where my head's at, my muse for kny hasn't been very high lately, so i'm thinking of changing my muse list in a way that reflects that. i just!! haven't figured out how exactly. i might categorize the lists by fandom and then by primary, secondary, and tertiary/request. i just want to show that my focus is on chiyo/modern muses, fantasy, and even s.piderverse stuff atm but without shoving all my other muses off the list or into the request category. i can definitely still write everybody!! the muse just isn't there like it used to be.

this doesn't affect many people here, but i may also edit chiyo's bio to make her fandomless again; i just don't interact with hq!! muses very often anymore, and her story isn't one that necessarily needs to be connected to hq!! to work.

i apologize if any of this disappoints anybody btw! i know this blog used to be very kny-centered, and a lot of people followed me for that originally. but i need to do what's going to make being here fun for me, which means changing things. if you need to soft/hardblock me, there's no hard feelings, and i wish you the best <3

I'm considering doing some minor housekeeping.

To start, to "re-release" some of the older icon sets repacking them. For example, I have 3 different sets with Saber Artoria from "Today's Menu for the Emiya Family ", so I could group them and make one pack and throw in 30 new icons to reach 250. So on and so forth. Some of those packs are from when the blog first started and maybe not many people saw them. I usually overwhelm myself, thinking that I must follow this deadline for something I set up myself. So pacing these re-releases while also sprinkling in some new packs could always have new content on this blog.

I might also make a poll asking about what sort of content my followers would be most interested: graphics, sentence starters, symbol memes, Fate-focused stuff... What else I wonder ? In any case, I'm usually around. Just lurking.

Brain purge

In light of recent AI developments, I've decided to take my Ao3 to registered users only. I do have account creation codes, so if you want to become a registered user, let me know.

It's also more likely than not that bots are also scraping Tumblr for art and content. I'm not sure how I want to handle this, but am thinking about it.

Found out that when you have an invisible like or reblog, it's someone who has blocked you unblocking, raiding your content, reblocking, and then using it on their own blog. It's a deeply chickenshit move, so I have blocked the most likely shitting chicken in return. It's not a blacklist when it's just taking out the trash - not even the recycling or the composting, but the straight-up trash.

I'm going to be doing some more blog-housekeeping in the next few days.

Had an aspiration on a large thyroid cyst, and a biopsy of both the fluid and the nodule tissue. The immediate result is a spectacular bruise that looks like a hickey from something with a mouth the size of a sink plunger. The biopsy showed atypical but not cancerous cells, so now I get to add another MD to my dance card.

I hate vaccines, even as I know the need for them. I was finally cleared to get my second COVID booster, was feverish and achy yesterday, and not much better today. Tylenol and Pedialyte are my morning.

Made a lot of food over the course of the week, now have zero appetite for any of it. Will eat it anyway.

Mom has been gone for two weeks, and when I was talking to my therapist yesterday, I said that I found myself smoothing over some of the truly shitty shit she did - cashing out my college fund, cheating me out of my due on a real estate deal, beating me unconscious, and once using a chokehold on me because I wasn't washing my face right. I also said that she was a nicer person with dementia than she ever was sane. My therapist said that children of Cluster B parents who develop dementia often say that.

I feel a combination of grief, relief, and ding-dong-the-witch-is-dead. My mother in dementia was by and large the person she should have been. No gaslighting, no manipulation, no emotional abuse. She was safe, cared for, had dignity, and I have been reminded that I was well within my rights to cut her off as I was on the verge of doing.

I'm writing, but it's a fractured effort. I'm working on my fic, but also on an actual get-paid story. I want a little more income, and writing is about what I can do at the moment.

My post-treatment physical issues remain... variable? The neuropathy in my feet makes me feel as if I am wearing the most uncomfortable socks ever. My hands lock up from time to time. I still have occasional joint pain - your spine is a joint.

In +1 news, I have been able to walk and even navigate the stairs without my cane. My core, upper body, and leg strength is slowly coming back. After getting my booster yesterday, I went to the grocery store - did not get much because I'd have to get it up the stairs, but I did fill my backpack.

Once Mom's estate is settled, the Big Out will commence My mother was very much about Stuff and I am about what will do the most good. Certain items go to friends, more to charities, some to consignment. I think that things ought to go where they are wanted and will be cherished, whether it's a big poofy quilt to a fostered dog or a 200-year-old rocking chair to her friend's front porch.

Of the several dozen “first things I want do“ accumulated over the past five months, the first I actually got to turns out to be a bit of mending. Dresses are much more convenient to wear during times of relative immobility than pants are, for a number of reasons, but one problem with that is, that all the lounging, crawling, sitting up, etc. on the bed subjects them to strain they weren’t designed to take, so my most comfortable dresses are springing seams. So when I took this one off yesterday I hung it over the sewing machine and today I went over it seam by seam and reinforced the affected areas. My sewing table is an old student desk which has even less room for the boot than the car did. Now I think I‘ll try a little dusting.

If I’m going to document all the little stuff I’m weirdly excited to do again I should probably start a random housekeeping side blog or something.

SOME LAST LITTLE THINGS TO NOTE!

As we mentioned yesterday, we have made one major change to the group in terms of our application/bios. Other than that, we largely expect most things in 2023 to remain the same! But there were some tiny updates & reminders that we felt we needed to bring to everyone's attention before we fully dive into the new season.

the benefactor will no longer be doing birthday gifts past someone's first birthday in merrock; this is to cut back on admin workload. but they'll be a more active presence in general!

diversity will be monitored more closely to discourage use of white-passing, ambiguous face claims only to meet requirements. our fc help page has been updated, as well.

review our rules and be sure you are following them. every rule is there for a reason, whether it be mod or player comfort.

put priority into replying to starters & be sure you are being inclusive, kind and welcoming not just on dash, but in the OOC blog, as well.

be sure all of your characters are equally active, and be fair when doing replies (keeping all characters up to date, older replies done first, etc.). if you offer someone a starter, do it for them, if they do one for you, reply to it, all the good stuff.

As a last reminder, today (January 8th) is the absolute last day to tackle Christmas -- all gifts should be reblogged/acknowledged by the end of the day, and no new gifts for Christmas should be posted after today. Tomorrow, we will have a one last "holiday rules" activity check where any character that has not posted activity in two weeks will be removed, and any that has not posted activity in one week will receive a warning. Please note that gifts, socials, tasks, muse posts etc. do not count towards activity -- if you are in danger of being removed or issued a warning, please use today to be active. As we have given plenty of heads up about this, no exceptions will be made. Regular activity rules resume tomorrow.

... also, I promise this is our last "important" mod post for a while, we just wanted to get all of the housekeeping out of the way before we jump into our regular normal every day everything around here. Thanks, guys! Let's have a great new season! xx
