What is a Shipping Bill in Export?
Have you heard of the term "shipping bill" before as an exporter? If you are new to exporting, you might find this term a bit technical, but it is actually one of the most important documents to deal with while starting your export business in India.
Every exporter company, big or small, needs to file a shipping bill before sending out the products from India. It is a document for the custom department to check what goods are going out of the country, how much is it worth of and where is it going. Think of shipping bill as a green signal from the customs when you hear, "The shipment is good to go".
The world of export is filled with documentations, but the shipping bill is something you cannot ignore. Over this blog, we will explore the importance of shipping bill, what it is and why it matters.
What is a shipping bill?
A shipping bill is a document that any exporter must file with the customs clearance department before sending out the shipment from India. It is a kind of declaration of what is being exported out of India, it includes details like:
Nature of the goods
Value and quantity of goods
Exporter details
Consignee details
Mode of transport
Basically, a shipping bill is a custom's permission slip to allow the goods to physically leave India. Shipping bill is generated automatically through ICEGATE and is mandatory for clearing goods at ports or airports.
Once the shipping bill is approved, it acts as a basis for
Custom permission slip (Custom clearance)
Claiming benefits like RoDTEP
Filing for regulations under FEMA
If you are exporting without shipping bill in your hands, it means that you are shipping illegally. It is one of the key documents to prove that the transaction has actually happened.
Importance of the Shipping Bill for Exporters
If you are an exporter in India, then shipping bill is not just a formality to be done, it is actually a ticket for your goods to get out of the country. Custom department needs this document the most, without shipping bill, custom won't let your documents move.
Here is why the shipping bill is the most important document:
Official export declaration: The shipping bill tells the customs each and every detail of the shipment. Who are you sending it to, what's the value and quantity, and what are you sending, all the details are in the shipping bill.
Dependence of custom clearance: For custom department, no shipping bill means no clearance. It is a document that custom officers review before giving the green light for export.
Export incentive: For claiming the export incentives like RoDTEP, MEIS etc., you will be needing shipping bill as a proof.
Export history: For tracking export transactions, the shipping bill acts as a record for export history.
In short, if you are a first time exporter or doing it for a long time, shipping bill is one document you cannot skip.
Different Types of Shipping Bills for Exporters
Different types of exports require different kinds of shipping bills. Not all exports are the same, based on the nature of the shipment and the kind of export you are doing. Here is a list of different types of shipping bills-
Free shipping bill- This types of shipping bill is required when the exporting goods dont qualify for any export incentives.
Dutiable shipping bill- If you are exporting any kind off goods that require export duty, this kind off shipping bill will be required.Custom duty will be calculated based on the duty of the bill.
Drawback shipping bill- If you think you can claim a duty drawback and then this shipping bill is for you. It helps you in getting refund of duties that you have already paid while importing few raw materials of the shipment.
EPS shipping bill- This shipping bill stands for export promotion scheme shipping bill. This is for shipment exported under schemes like EPCG or MEIS.
Exporters can file for these shipping bills electronically through the ICEGATE portal, and based on the export declaration, the correct types of shipping bills are selected.
What are the Key Components of a Shipping Bill?
A shipping bill is one of the most important documents for moving your shipment out of the country. So, before going to fill out the form, it's important to know the key components of a shipping bill. Here is what you will find in a shipping bill:
Exporter Details: This section basically requires your details, like name, IEC code, address, etc.
Consignee Information: Details of who you are sending goods to, like- name, address, country etc.
Nature of consignment: An accurate description of the goods and nature of the consignment, like product name, type and its overall description.
HS code- This code helps the custom to identify the nature of your goods properly. This 8 digit code is crucial for incentive, compliance and duty.
Shipping bill type- As explaid above, different types of shipping bills, this will determine how custom department will treat your shipment.
Mode of transport: This clarifies whether your shipment will move through air, seo or land.
LUT/Bond details: If you are exporting without paying the GST, those details must be included here too.
Documents Required for Filing a Shipping Bill
You will need to arrange a few shipping bills before filling one out. This will help customs to verify your shipment and make sure everything is in order. Here is a list of documents needed:
Commercial invoice: This has the details of the goods being exported- quantity, quality, price, terms of sale, etc.
Packing list- This has details of goods that are packed- like weight, number of boxes, dimensions and what is inside the boxes.
IEC code- This is the importer exporter code, and it's like an ID card for your export business.
Export/Purchase order: This is a proof of order from your overseas buyers.
Declaration: A declaration provided by you that the information given is true and you have all the documents to verify it.
LUT or Bond documents: If you are exporting without GST under LUT then you need to submit the document for the same.
Once you have gathered all these documents, you are ready to file for shipping bill on the ICEGATE portal. The documents and details must be accurate, any mismatch might lead to rejection from the custom department.
What is the difference between a shipping bill and a bill of lading?
Read more: What is a bill of lading? And where is it used?
Conclusion
Getting your shipping bill right is one of the most important steps in your exporting business. It is not just a regular document, it is important as it gets the green signal form the custom department of India to send your shipment abroad. Whether you are new to export or scaling up your export business, getting the right shipping bill will save you from the delays, penalities and missed opportunities.

Ok, ok, yeah, no speaking of capitalism as anything less than one of the great evils of this age.
We will have a liveable world once we no longer have money, states/borders, too much power given to a small group of people, or hierarchies altogether, and instead organize in small communities where the point is to make sure everyone has dignity in their lives, where working isnt so you dont starve, but so you contribute to your community and thrive by occupying yourself with something you believe in.
Its not utopian and its not impossible and it is actually a lot lot easier with all the tech we have so far, and a lot easier to advance technologically without patents/saboutage by oil sharks who dont want the oil monopoly to end. We can literally make cars run on water but its illegal because it would be bad for the economy(idc what the madeup bullshit excuse is some people do this mod at home in brasil and it runs fine till they need to get a routine checkup and it gets confiscated).
So yeah. Fuck capitalism and capitalism apologists and fuck the right altogether actually and honestly centrists can either wake up or fuck off, their call, but since center usually means right wing but not far right but also "being a violent racist and a human rights activist is two sides of the same coin"ism, get fucked too. Fuck capitalism and the people who defend it even a little bit. Im tired.
#being disabled and being pro capitalism would be the biggest dumbest shitass thing to do so just once again#so yeah I am once again making it crystal clear that this is an anarcommie blog with an anarcommie blogger#and a 0% right wing tolerance if you believe capitalism works in the slightest fuck yourself#like y'all dont see what this shit is doing to the planet? all of it? the floods here and the wars and the genocides its all on this#this is what makes white supremacy possible and apartheids and patriarchal oppression and structural ableism and and and#its this everyone for their own self and fuck everyone else cancer of a mentality that the US exports

Rice Export from India Latest News on Global Challenges
The latest news on Rice Export from India is regarding the ban on exporting non-basmati white rice. This decision by the Indian Govt. doesn’t apply on the export consignments already in the process of loading.

This ban may impact around 80 percent of India’s rice exports and could affect global rice prices negatively.

Musk Slashes US 'Financial Aid', Global 'Independent Media' Persona Collapses!
As soon as 2025 began, tech visionary Musk and Trump made a big splash together by axing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), leaving over 10,000 people unemployed and hundreds of so-called "independent" media outlets and NGOs worldwide suddenly cut off from funding! Musk took to social media to mock wildly: "Independent media? Hilarious!" It turns out that these institutions that tout "neutrality" and "freedom" are actually just "Marionettes" puppeteered by American taxpayers' money! Half of the media in Ukraine depends on USAID to stay afloat, and 90% of the "financial backers" of Russian opposition media also come from Washington. Upon hearing the news, some people suddenly realized: So-called independent media are all American media, and so-called neutral institutions are all American state-run institutions! USAID, ostensibly a humanitarian aid agency, is actually a "secret weapon" for the United States to export its ideology. It lavishly spends $40 billion annually on three main tasks: First, it funds media outlets, giving money to The New York Times, Associated Press, BBC, etc., to manipulate public opinion trends. Second, it engages in infiltration by financing overseas NGOs to incite protests and support pro-American regimes, and has even been exposed for developing "biological weapons." Third, it targets China by establishing an "anti-China fund" and spending $300 million to gang up and block China's influence. Ironically, while the United States批评 others for having "state-run media," it secretly funds its own media. For example, a right-wing blogger revealed that The New York Times received $46 million from the government over five years, with the Associated Press and Politico also making the list! Faced with this scene, Trump couldn't help but exclaim in all capital letters on his blog: "Too dirty!"

PSA: Back up your blog, check your tumblr e-mail for copyright strikes
Hi everyone, after suddenly losing my account with main blog + sideblogs last week, I would like to share the following warning with y'all. Not to scare you even though it is shitty, but to raise awareness. If this somehow results in me getting kicked off the platform again, so be it lol.
If you post anything fandom* related on your tumblr blog**, whether that's gifs, screenshots, videos, cosplay pics or even fics (?), you may risk getting a copyright strike (up to 3 in 18 months) or even immediate account termination. The chance is still rather small, but just know that it can happen.
*I say fandom in the broad term, so blogs that post about movies and series, anime/manga, games, celebrities, models, sports/olympics, etc. and it goes for gif and fic creators too. Not just accounts that post music or videos for example.
**I say tumblr blog, but this goes for all of the internet ofc. People have been getting this problem on any platform, from insta to etsy, youtube and twitter.
Disclaimer: I am no legal expert, just an unlucky blogger who lost her silly multifandom fic blog after 7+ years.
This will be a bit long and detailed so I proceed under the cut!
What can you do?
...To make sure you don't suddenly lose days, months, and years of content:
CHECK THE EMAIL LINKED TO YOUR TUMBLR. I know a lot of people don't do it, myself included. Tumblr does send warnings (though not always). It wouldn't have changed anything for me because I wouldn't want to appeal - since I don't want to go into this "fair use" discussion for just a fic & editing blog. I personally don't know the chances of retrieving your blog if you protest against the claims, so can't say much about that.
Back up your Tumblr blog if you can. Also save your Tumblr chats with people dear to you if you can. Account termination seems to work differently than deactivation. I was still able to see chats with people who deactivated long ago. But my blog that got terminated has vanished from everyone's DMs and ask boxes à la Thanos snap. I mourn my years of Tumblr chat with my best friend. It was not as if we even considered exporting/copying it just for the memories of the start of our friendship. But now that it's entirely gone, hehe, well. It is sad.
Save URLs and masterposts outside Tumblr. After losing your account, for I thiiink about 24-48hrs (I didn't clock, but it was temporary) you will be able to access it at least temporarily through cachedpages, if you have the URL. It doesn't seem to work for everything, but most of my Tumblr posts I could still see shortly through this site, even after I got wiped off the platform. I did this by googling my tumblr username + certain keywords, and the posts would pop up and give me the URL.
...To prevent getting copyright strikes and losing your account?
Probably nothing - but like I said, I'm not the expert, just the fool who lost her account. The termination e-mail will give you a numbered URL so it's not easy to see which post resulted in the account loss, but for me the keywords were:
-
-
Despite the 7+ years of posts, many followers and a lot of memories, I did not gain anything else from this blog and didn't think it was worth the (legal-) risks and effort to try and get it back. It would require filing an objection against the copyright claims with personal info from home address to name, and consenting to USA legal law stuff.
Even if I don't know the exact details, I'm sure they're not wrong, because whether it's fair or not, most fandom stuff has copyright issues in the end, so I can't protest against the claims with 100% certainty it won't get me in real trouble. Besides, I read about similar cases, lost cases, and admitted defeat right away.
They work with manual reports and most dangerously, bots, who seem to be randomly picking unlucky people to take down their posts and possibly the entire account.
So besides putting an entire halt to fic writing, gif making, video editing and other fandom indulgement, or the inconvenient act of censoring every single word and image, I don't think there is a way to entirely prevent getting targeted.
The one that treated me to the strikes leading to account termination was a certain Mr. Green who seems to have targeted mostly people on Etsy. But apparently now also on Tumblr. More about this I can share here for further information. I also share some other links that can inform you about how far the copyright problem can go. Again, no reason to panic. It's rare and I was unlucky. But it happens.
About Mr. Green, using bots all over the internet to take down fandom related material:
Tumblr post about his attack on fandom.
Long detailed doc from an Etsy user.
Insta post about also loss of Etsy account.
Also Etsy related, but same Mr. Green and his bots taking down something only because it used the NAME of an anime character.
Tweet about him and his company not being officially contracted but getting compensated.
About copyright claims on Tumblr - they are still rare, no panic, I just call it russian roulette and these are all unlucky people like me :')
Post by user @/marilynjeansiims about claims against users who post about Sims, including a petition against it.
Post by user @/happyheidi about Moomin posts facing issues.
Post by user @/hanyusan about olympic related claims.
Example by user @/koov about what a vague copyright warning looks like.
Good news, post by user @/yunghos about getting their account back after filing a counter notice. It seems to be possible.
Post by user @/iamkatehardy about getting a strike for using a gif.
Post by user @/stxrshxpxd about getting their acc terminated for no 100% clear reasons.
Post by user @/tekweela about getting terminated mercilessly because of a reblog.
Post by user @/fromanotherroom-revived about losing their account with similar advice as I write here.
Post by user @/ladyphasma about gifs and US law
Knowing this won't bring lost accounts back, or change the law, I do hope at least you can be better prepared just in case it happens... Better prepared than I was at least.

since I've noticed a few people -both returning, long term, and new users- reblogging tumblr-know-how posts going 'ah, I didn't know that, thank you'- here's a gentle reminder from a long time tumblr user
remember to flick off the op out settings on each of your blogs that allows for ai training off your blog's content
this allows tumblr to train ai off both your original and reblogged posts. so both art/writing/anything you post and the content of whatever you reblog.
Instructions for finding this setting are below the cut.
On PC (via web browser), this setting can be found by
1) clicking on 'Settings' on the left hand side and then
2) clicking on each individual blog's name. Yes, it has to be turned off for all of them individually.
And yes, after clicking on each blog's name you'll have to click on 'Settings' again to re-access the list.
On Mobile (via web browser) you have to
1) open the side menu available by the button on the top left of your screen then
2) click the down arrow next to 'Account' and your list of blogs will appear under the 'Likes'/'Following'/'Log Out' options. If it isn't already open
3) open a blog's options menu by clicking the down arrow next to their name. Then
4) click on blog settings and scroll all the way to the bottom. Above the options 'Blocked Tumblrs'/'Export'/'Delete Blog' you will find the slider you have to turn off.
Again, you will have to do this for each blog again starting from step one.
Again, this protects both your original content and the content of the creators you love and reblog. It is an op-out function which means that when you create a blog, it is automatically set to train AI off your blog.
This is a relatively new feature for returning bloggers- as in it was added in the last year or so- but not new-new by any means. It has not been changed since implementation as far as I know.
(Also I don't use the mobile app so I couldn't tell you if that layout is different but alskjklgf if it is, someone let me know and I'll get my friend who uses it to walk me through how she finds it and add it on here.)
Thank you for your time and attention! Happy blogging! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
#personal#tumblr#tumblr how#tumblr know how#idk what to tag this just#if you found this useful/would have found this useful/have people you know are following you who may not know this#pls reblog and spread awareness#there was a lot of awareness spreading at the time#but i've seen a couple of new/returning waves since#and not too much awareness on This Particular Setting on tumblr so -_o_-#lil refresher course ig#ill schedule this a few times too#over the next few days at like#6 hour intervals or smth idk#ill figure it out

hello claire, love your blog! i want to ask you a question about vietnamese fandom of thai pop culture, is it very big or just dedicated? i did notice that i often can find something translated into vietnamese (especially if we are talking about tpop interviews) while i can't find eng subs for it, and i started noticing it even more after a couple of weeks ago you pointed out another vietnamese blogger who has more access to obscure thai BLs than non-vietnamese bloggers. i am curious now, what's up with that? thank you in advance!
hiiiii \( ̄︶ ̄*\))
i loveeee getting questions about thai pop culture and vietnamese fandom. for the short answer, i would say that it's both a combination of dedicated fandom and a sizable fandom. but please bare with me in my lengthy elaboration of this phenomenon...
i think the first form of 'thai pop culture' that was popularised and successfully exported to viet nam was thai lakorns. in a similar vein to older makjang korean dramas, thai lakorns had very soap opera and dramatic plots that were intriguing to viewers (mostly older grandmas who were at home). it was as if at a certain point, when vietnamese tv channels were running out of kdramas to buy the airing rights to, they looked to their neighboring countries dramas (notably, vietnamese networks were also buying rights to filipino, indian, spanish telenovelas so it wasn't just thai lakorns that they were outsourcing).
and so this was like around early 2010s, which also coincided with the emergence of thai bl series. even though i have absolutely no statistics to back this argument up, i would say that the familiarity that a portion of vietnamese audience had with thai lakorns, thai television, thai language also made it easy for them to get into thai bl series. with a number of thai-vietnamese lakorn fansubbers who were already subbing for thai series, they also took on the fansubbing for thai bl series, since they knew there was a niche but large audience who wanted to watch those series.
that being said, i wanted to make a distinction here because i wouldn't say that the vietnamese lakorn audience are the same audience who watch thai bls or they are the same fujoshi fandom who consume all things queer love/boys' love/girls' love related. but there is definitely a huge overlap between the fujoshis/sao y audience and the lakorn audience, which ended up as a very niche yet dedicated audience -> which was the biggest motivation for thai subbers to take on the subbing for thai bl series and anything related for certain thai actors who had been in bl series which are often lakorns that they've done before.
and i think you're referring to this post of mine about me finding out that @nonkul is a fellow vietnamese which allow us to have more access to "obscure lakorns". rather than this having to do with thai fansubbers for bl series/bl series related content/"bl actors" content, i think there's just more of vietnamese networks which are committed to outsourcing thai lakorns to air them (especially ones with big lakorn names attached to it like mai davika, baifern pimchanok, james jirayu, yaya urassaya, tor thanapob, film thanapat, esther supreeleela...). there are many local vietnamese networks who provide their own streaming services like tv360, fptplay... so they would often go to these film/tv series festivals to "shop" for thai series, allowing them to provide them exclusively in viet nam on both tv or their streaming site.
but to go back to the main subject of your question which is thai pop culture/tpop interviews, i would say that it's very much the result of 2-3 dedicated fansubbers with an equally dedicated audience who are willing to engage/interact with the content put out by the fansubbers. i've also come across a number of former kpop fans converted into tpop fandoms, so i could also see where the dedication-ness is coming from in trying to sub actor-related content.
but that also means that not very actors/ships will get dedicated fansubbers though. i think it mostly depends on how lucky a ship/an actor is to have a long time lakorn/thai series watcher/subber take an interest in them and they'll start basically subbing everything related to a series/ship/actor/group basically. it really does help that a majority of thai lakorn/series watchers have been watching thai series for so long, they're more likely to pick up the language along the way -> it's easier for you to see vietnamese translations for these kinds of content from thai actors/singers.
i know there are a lot of assumptions and generalised statements in my answer and it may not be the case for all the vietnamese fansubbers out there so please just take this with a grain of salt as it's mostly my perspective, after talking to a few fansubbers here and there. ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
but i was really happy to get this question in my inbox though. i'm always over the moon to be sharing perspective of a vietnamese lakorn/thai series/tpop enthusiast.

Thoughts?
Due to the recent layoffs at tumblr HQ, I made personal accounts at pillowfort and dreamwidth. I'm not super familiar with either of those sites, so does anyone have advice for choosing a back up site for this archive?
Update: it looks like tumblr can be exported to wordpress, so I did that for now. Downside: my url sucks (unless I pay $ which I refuse) and I'll need to hand edit every post to add tags, etc.

Oh wow I almost forgot I was gonna post this today!
So okay important update regarding how to backup your Tumblr blog!
I know there has been some concern in the community considering what happened to a couple of our bloggers recently.
I did link to a post previously about how to back up your blog, but then when I tried it for myself I was like I am too dumb to use this lol. There must be an easier way?
Guess what there is!
There is a way to export your Tumblr blog directly in your settings.
This help article tells you how to do it.
Important Notes About This Method:
You have to do it for each of your blogs individually.
Depending on how large your blog is, it might take some time.
The file you receive called “posts” is indeed full of your posts but you can’t filter by tag or really any other way at all.
It does include images if there are images in your posts.
Reblogs are also included.
Your private messaging history is also included.
Likes are not included.
You can only do this on desktop.
It would take you a while to go through each post individually if you reblog a lot (like I do). But if you export your blog like this, you will have all of your posts on your own computer. I recommend doing it regularly - how often depends on how frequently you post stuff you want to keep.
I don’t think this includes drafts.
So if you’re a writer, I highly recommend keeping your writing in multiple locations. The thing about Tumblr drafts is that you have no way of getting that stuff back if there’s a problem with Tumblr or if your account gets deleted. I know a lot of people write in the Tumblr drafts directly but I am far too paranoid. I still have lost things though. It happens that’s just the nature of computers.
Anyway, I hope that helps! Please feel free to ask me questions if you have any. 💕

god you know what else is fucking awful about social media empires dissolving? all the fucking APIs that have to get adjusted so that people can import or export blogs and get their tags off shit and so forth.
I am increasingly thinking about mirroring/automatically crossposting to bsky or dreamwidth or cohost, because I've always been a blogger and it seems like the time is ripe for that to be how we do things again. except that I mean, in the old days I always blogged on wordpress under the notion that wordpress was, like, the safe and reliable place to blog.
I might even have to set up a web site. disgusting, I'd have to put work stuff and professional self promotion on there and all. but that's how it's going these days.
so now I have to wonder, where is the API support to do something like that, can I do it easily, and can I integrate my dash?
ngl federation is looking real attractive right now.

looking thru posts and seeing every other familiar url of popular trans bloggers be banned is dire
consider exporting your tumblr blog. consider making a website - many people know neocities, but there are other hosts out there. nekoweb. lexiqqq. marigold town. consider starting a blog. consider finding a mastodon instance. there's a lot of options out there
